The Cause And Effect Of Deafness
About ninety percent of the global population has the ability to hear the sound of their family s voice,
hear their favorite songs, hear their own voice, these are just a few sounds that sadly are taken for
granted by many people, and unfortunately many will never get to experience. About 10% of the
Global population is affected by some percentage of hearing loss with hundred twenty four million
people affected from a moderate level to a severe deafness. Deafness is caused by different situations.
Research shows that two to three out of thousand children in US are born deaf. There is no actual cure
for deafness, but in 1982 the invention of cochlear implants gave profoundly deaf and severely hard of
hearing individual the chance to experience sound in a completely new way. This electronic device
that is implanted in the brain behind the ears can give deaf individuals hearing ability. While many
people can agree this invention had changed the way the world sees deafness, opinions differ on
whether a deaf child needs the implant to be successful. Despite objections by activists in the Deaf
community that cochlear implants destroy Deaf culture, children who cannot hear should receive the
surgery as a way to improve their communication skills, increase their educational options, and
improve their career opportunities.
In many ways, deafness is hardest on children. Language is learned from hearing it spoken by parents
and other. Deaf children struggle with communicating more

The Upcoming Development of Liberal Democracies in Mexico...
Democracy: A political system in which citizens enjoy a number of basic civil and political rights, and
in which their most important political leaders are elected in free and fair elections and accountable
under a rule of law (26). In the studies we have undertaken, comparing and exploring various
countries and systems politically, economically, and psychologically throughout the quarter, this
outcry of democracy has prevailed as a main theme. Successful countries such as the United States
and Great Britain are based upon such democratic ideals. It is no wonder that countries have striven
more recently toward this goal of democratization. Both the Russian and Mexican revolutions prove
that democracy is an attainable goal in the next ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Socialism offered an ideal and classless society in which the state controlled everything, yet the people
utilized the practice of controlling politics. He formed a highly centralized government, which was
furthered to totalitarian goals by his successor, Joseph Stalin. Stalin focused on military and industrial
gains which, by his death in 1953, had crippled the Soviet state because his successors could not make
any reforms without undermining the CPSU the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (367). A heavy
reliance on secret police and a militarized economy was already in place when Mikhail Gorbachev
came on the scene. He was elected General Secretary of the CPSU in 1985 when the USSR was in
middle of continually diminishing economic productivity; it became stagnant. With his powers as
secretary, he saw room for reform to change the USSR drastically. He planned to do this through
instituting glastnost, or openness, in society, which he believed would ameliorate levels of corruption.
Corruption was a detriment to democratization, which he believed would heal the economy. He
brought back the first contested elections in many years. With democratic procedures in place,
Gorbachev lost his power to Yeltsin. Notwithstanding the amended constitution, Yeltsin took liberty to
control parliament to cope with the country s economic problems (369). Yeltsin s successor was
chosen as Vladimir Putin who has severely radicalized the

Difference Between Thanks And Apologies
For a long time, the good behaviors have become a standard in appreciating the human personality.
Thanks and apologies are one of the manifestations of a culture, politeness in social relations. When
thanks and apologies are showed honestly, on one hand reflects the qualities of the individual. On the
other hand they can help people understand each other more easily. In many cases, thanks or apologies
not only bring joy to recipients, but also clear away the problems, troubles, so that people live more
altruistic.
Thanks, someone helped us do something; even it s too small, that words make pleasant conversation.
Some Government official finds it difficult to express gratitude. I have a story about a German
engineer who married to a Vietnamese ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some people apologize and correct a mistake; other people don t. Saying thanks or sorry is a matter of
awareness, showing civilized behavior. Saying thanks and apologies expresses the best qualities and
education level of the person.
But nowadays, thanks and apologies tend to decrease in social communication. In a lot of cases, some
people ask for directions but forgot to thank. Many of you think it s their jobs, but you forget that they
help you, it is necessary for you.
Many people argue that the cause of this situation is since the standards of behavior are not tight or
industrial lifestyle makes us changes ... But still one more reason, it is a habit. Often only children
sorry or thanks parents. And younger people sorry and thanks older people, but many older people do
not pay attention to do that. In social interaction, especially in public, the adults older people rarely
say sorry or thank. Whether they were helped or their behavior annoying to others. The children don t
hesitate to say sorry or thank, but the habit seems to be lost with the adults. The children say thank
you and apologize not only through the lessons in class, teachings of parents, but also to learn directly
through the example of the

Designing A Fdm Based Rapid Prototype Ie
Objective The purpose of this work is to design a FDM based Rapid Prototype ie. 3D Printer which
will corrects the errors found on other FDM printers and which provides high resolution and print size.
To make the design cost effective FDM based printer is considered as cost of making it and cost of
raw materials is very less. Resolution and material usage customization is great in FDM. Hot end
temperature need to be adjusted when different material types are used. When required it is possible to
mix different materials with different properties to produce a single printed object. By end of this
paper one is able to fabricate a 3D printer with low cost.

Surely, the potential of 3D printing (3DP) has captured the popular imagination. From jet engine parts
to made to fit jewelry, the technology is hailed as revolution in how products are manufactured.
According to estimates, the global 3DP printer market is poised to hit $6 billion by 2017 from $2.2
billion in 2012, with global shipments of printers costing less than $100,000 expected to reach about
98,000 in 2014, roughly twice as many as in 2013.
Introduction
3D printer is capable of doing complex and difficult tasks in one long step. A 3D model of the object
to be made with a defined set of parameters and scaling ratios is given as input in STL file (design
model in CAD), which can then be converted into G codes. This data is then used for controlling the
motors and extruding plastic based on the g code generated.
This automated approach towards fabricating contrasts with the traditional way of manufacturing,
where an object is formed by removing excess material or folding and shaping materials

Wayne Williams Fiber Evidence Case Study
In the case of Wayne Williams, the fiber evidence was key in obtaining the conviction for the murders
(Imwinkelried, 1983). The fiber evidence most assuredly led to the jury s final decision of guilty,
without this evidence a case could not have been formed to display the guilt of Wayne Williams
without the shadow of a doubt. In addition to the fiber evidence, the prosecution presented hair
evidence that displayed a 98% chance of belonging to Wayne Williams as well as his German
Shepherd, Sheba (Deadman, 1984). This evidence alone would not have proven the guilt of Wayne
Williams. The prosecution also presented witness testimony linking Wayne Williams to some of the
victims despite his own testimony relaying he had no contact with them. The

Physics Of The Mass Atomic Mass
An atom contains protons, neutrons and electrons; the protons and neutrons are I the nucleus of the
atoms and the electrons are in the outer shells of the atoms. There are different charges of protons,
neutron s and electron s: protons have a positive charge however, neutron have no charges and
electrons have a negative charge. The electron shells contain electrons a 8 electrons can make a full
outer shell however, the first shell has to always be 2 electrons in it In addition the periodic table is

separate elements (S, P, D and F block), the s block contains the elements which are on the left side,
the elements consist of alkali metals and alkaline earth elements. In addition is d block contains the

physical properties in the groups and periods they belong to I am going to explain the trends of
chemical and physical properties by giving examples from group 1 and 7 elements, group 1 elements
have similar properties as they are alkali metals and as you go down the group the elements get more
reactive e.g. lithium is more harder and less reactive than the element at the bottom of the group which
is the most reactive and very soft, also the melting points and The alkali metals generally become
more dense going down the group and they become softer, but the trend is not perfect because
potassium is less dense than sodium. All of the outer most shells in group 1

Adeline Last Letter
I received this letter this morning and it fills me with pride and joy to find out Adeline is well and is
working her way closer and closer to achieve her goals. She is doing what she had always dreamt of
doing and is now taking her first major step by going to university, she has worked so hard despite all
the hardships she has faced. It killed me a little inside to watch her be pushed away as though she is
nothing, she knows they don t want her and no child should ever go through that.
That cruel Niang always picking on her, she has Joseph wrapped around her finger, she manipulates
him and he is too naive to realise, he thinks she is doing the right thing by him and his children, yet

Adeline had told me about her, about the storm she was trying to walk home in when they kindly

accused of these absurd things and to be punished for something that couldn t cause any harm, it was a
birthday party for crying out loud... Let the girl live a little! you only get one life. Although she denied
telling me their plans that they had informed her of once she had been caught, I could tell what they
had in store for us, or for her... Sending her away from me, from my bad influence, how dare they
think that. I have only ever put my all into protecting her and trying to give her the love and affection
a young child needs and deserves.
How much I would pay to see her again, to see what she has become of, I never saw what everyone
saw, the young broken girl with the horrible clothes, I saw a beautiful, intelligent and strong women
who has faced more horrendous things then most grown people will see in their whole entire life, to
hear the sound of her tinkling laugh and see her beaming smile that hid all her troubles brought me so
much pride.I love her more than anything, I love her like she is my own

Steroids Should Not Be Banned
Steroids By: Taci Miller For many years people have debated whether not to have steroids in sports, or
to keep them away from all competition. However some athletes use steroids anyway to get ahead of
the competition. These action can cause athletes being kicked out of a game or even all future
competition. Some people ask Why use steroids? Some athletes use drugs, where they can train their
bodies hard and then have their bodies recover fast. Different types of athletes use steroids in different
ways depending on what sport the athlete is partaking in. Depending on what the athlete is trying to
achieve they will combine certain drugs to give them the result that they want(Knight 23). Another
reason that some athletes may start to use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The use of steroids has forever changed the face of professional sports, making it a world fueled by
drug contacts instead of skill and talent. Roids, juice, hype, or pump are names that people may use
when talking about steroids. Anabolic steroids are different from steroids medications. Anabolic
steroids help build muscle, buy steroids can not help the ability and or skill of the athlete. Genetics,
body size, age, sex, diet and how the athlete trains determines ability(State Health Department 1).
Steroids fall into the category of ergogenic drugs. A drug that is classified as orogenetic is a substance
that can be used to improve athletic performance. Other ergogenic drugs include prohormones, such as
androstenedione and androstenediol, growth hormones, and nutritional supplements. While these
substances may act on the body in different ways, the goals are the same: to gain muscles, increase
endurance, and speed muscle and strength recovery. (Knight 7). Athletes who are doping rarely take
one kind of drug. More commonly, they will do what is called stacking, which means combining a
number of drugs in order to have the best chance at success. Unfortunately, stacking can also lead to
overdose and greater chances of permanently damaging vital organs. (Knight 23). Even tho stacking is
very bad for everyone, people

Mrss. Leonardo will only use her special tablecloth for very special occasions because she loves it so
much. Also, Mrs. Leonardo found her old childhood book. She thought her sister, Helen, had it at her
house. She thinks it s important beause she doesn t talk to her sister anymore and they both loved the
book. Mrs. Leonardo says, My sister, you see... well, she s coming to dinner. This shows that Mrs.

No Electronic Theft Act
No Electronic Theft Act (NET) BIS/220 Introduction to Computer Application and Systems April 2,
2013 Copyright infringement has become a serious issue in today s world. Owners of this material
lose money every time an image or any material is used illegally. The Internet has brought about more
opportunities for someone to steal copyrighted material. An Internet user can simply copy and image,
save it, and use it for their own gain while the holder of the copyright of that image gets nothing. This
situation was becoming an issue so in 1997 the United States government enacted the No Electronic
Theft Act to help stop this from occurring. Description of the Act The No Electronic Theft (NET) Act

If the right click did not work they could screen shot a page, drop it in Photoshop or any editing
program, and snip out the picture. Pictures were not the main culprit however. Music and movies are
big business and people were discovering ways to pirate these without paying for them. Peer sharing
of music and movie files were costing studios, record companies, artists, and actors a large amount of
money. Sharing these files is easy back in the mid 1990s and even easier today. Whether it be via PTP,
e mail, instant messaging, saving to a CD/DVD, or saving to a flash drive it is easy to give someone a
copy of a CD, DVD, or a single song. These advances in technology required something be done to
protect copyright holders from infringement. The Act was established for this reason. Conclusion The
No Electronic Theft Act was put into place to stop copyright infringement on all forms of electronic
media. These infringements cost copyright holders millions of dollars per year. The Act enables
prosecution for infringements even if they are not meant for financial gain. Since inception the Act has
been used to prosecute both people seeking gain and those who were not. The Act was necessary
because of the simplicity of sharing copyrighted materials and people s willingness to do so. The theft
of copyrighted material will likely never end but laws such as NET can help

Colonial America Alan Taylor Summary
Of both the reading assignments over the summer I enjoyed Colonial America by Alan Taylor, because
of the writing structure, the footnotes/sources and the visual aids. This text is no more than what it is
named for, the colonization of America. The book is a view of the events that led to colonization, and
the effects said colonization had on the, now american, landscape. It is a clean a simple overview of
the causes and effects of the colonization of America. The first thing that the author did that made this
text standout was the structure he wrote it in. Most historical texts try to sound smart and use big
words, or just give an overload of facts, but while this book does have many facts, making it a bit dry,
they are spaced well enough ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When author used aids he did not use them to pad out space, but to convey more information on his
topic he was discussing. The map (page 2 3) is used to expose us to the difference of maps from
Europe in the 1500 s to the maps of natives in the 1500 s. The natives had maps on a much smaller
scale and those maps were not one hundred percent correct geographically, whereas the maps from
Europe were much grander, and geographically correct. The usage of visual aids helps you to grasp
how Europeans and natives alike didn t know how expansive their New World was. The authors use of
portraits can show you how the colonizers saw the natives as savages and to them proper clothes were
a sign of civilized people, the portrait of Pocahontas (page 57) shows her in much different clothing
than that of what she would wear if she still was with her tribe. These portraits like the one of
Theyanoguin (page 110) canbe used as an example of how different the natives looked from the
colonizers and how strange they were. It can also show the cultural hybridity of the the native chief
after he had made a visit to England to negotiate with Queen Anne. The author also includes one
political cartoon depicting one of the rich family in Charleston during the 1800 s (page 88), this family
most likely owned slaves, so to me this cartoon could be a attack on how most of the richest families
in Charleston made

they do not have a majority voting interest. To achieve off balance sheet treatment, a minimum 10%
investment from an independent third party investor is required, in exchange for which the third party

Batman Issues
The hype surrounding this movie in the three years before its release is something I personally have
never seen before. This movie is supposed to set the stage for the DC comics movie universe, by
expanding the characters and storylines to new heights. It falls completely flat trying to do so. This
movie is a cluttered mess that is being slammed by critics and many loyal fans that saw the same
issues that have plagued other comic book movies. The laundry list of problems with this movie start
at an editing level, the movie is cut wrong. There seem to be key parts of the movie missing, mostly
character development and motivations for the characters actions. The basic assumption the audience
can make in the film is Batman and Superman are good, because that is what they are in every other
form of media they are in, and that Lex Luthor is bad because of the same reasons. These editing
issues also never establish a good pace, every scene doesn t matter because in a matter of minutes it
will go to the next. Many scenes in this movie are not important twenty minutes down the line in the
movie. This movie does not suffer from a major plot hole, it suffers from a lack of understanding why
the plot of the movie is even happening. The main characters have really no reason for doing what
they do besides being Batman, Superman, and Lex ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Unfortunately their fight is downright ridiculous, the motivation is as shallow as a conversation

Superman with it. I thought that Batman was actually going to end the fight with a sink. Too bad the
movie kept going for over 30 more

Responses For The Child And Her Father
Anticipated responses for the child and her father might very different. The child may cope by acting
out, being emotionally dysregulated, having eating or sleep disturbances, brooding or withdrawing,
being restless or unable to be still, taking on too much responsibility or developmentally, emotionally
and physically, regressing (Bugge, Darbyshire, Røkholt, Haugstvedt, Helseth, 2014). The child who
witnesses a death may be afraid they or another family member will die in the same way. They may
also be actively avoiding painful memories or suppressing their needs being afraid to cause more
trouble (Bugge, et al., 2014). The process of grieving is complicated by the tasks of the developmental
stage that child is going through, the relationship with the deceased, their coping skills including
support systems, and the circumstances of the death (Slyter, 2012). She is in Erikson s stage of
Industry versus Inferiority, so the clinician might see her express the thought that she has done
something wrong that caused her mother s death. The father, although he can express his grief more
directly, may find that he has conflicting feelings about processing his grief and simultaneously
attending to his daughter s needs. He may go through the five stages of grief as proposed by Kubler
Ross (Corr, 2015). These stages include denial, or shock; anger; bargaining; depression; and
acceptance, or moving forward. These stages may occur in any order, or not at all. They can also

The Wind in the Willows Essay
The Wind in the Willows
The Wind in the Willows (published in 1908) by Kenneth Grahame is a children s fictional novel set
in England during the early 20th century. This allegory from the stimulus booklet evokes feelings of
magic and adventure but also feelings of reflection as we relate the actions of Ratty, Mole and Toad to
our lives.Grahame evokes an imaginative journey within the mind of the reader as he questions Which
journey s do we take that we really want to experience? Kenneth Grahame conveys this idea through
Mole who is being forced to take Ratty s journey instead of his own. This text broadens our
understanding of the world today in that it helps us to undertsand the complex interactions between
people.

Camps, villages, town s cities . This vivid description of what he anticipates creates imagery in the
minds of the audience allowing them to enter the imaginative realm of Toads journey.
In this extract Kenneth Grahame creates exaggeration within the characters to effectively fuel the
imagination of the audience. The audience is sent on an imaginative journey as they picture the
different facial expressions, changing body language and personalities of the characters. For example
The rat only snorted and thrust his hands deep into his pocket , cried the Toad, straddling and
expanding himself , said Toad imploringly , followed him eagerly etc. The reader can interprete the
nature and personality of the characters more precisely through exaggeration because they are able to
picture them in their imagination.
The use of exaggeration is effective as it allows the true nature of the character to be expressed in the
writing, for example said Toad imploringly illustrates how Toad is desperate and pleaing to Ratty,
however if the text only contained said Toad then the true nature of Toad would not be evoked in the
audiences imagination.
The Wind in the Willows uses the technique of anthropomorphism. This feature is visually appealing

Owning Exotic Pets Research Paper
Currently, in the pet market, a very prominent issue is present. Should private citizens be legally
allowed to own exotic pets? Owning exotic pets is dangerous, expensive, and cruel. The average
human should not be allowed to own exotic pets. In the first place, owning an exotic pet can be a risk
to your safety. The size of the animal does not determine how dangerous it is. In the article Do You
Really Want A Baby Tiger? the author Mia Lewis states It s not just big cats, poisonous snakes and
chimpanzees that can be harmful even smaller exotic pets can cause serious injuries. How dangerous
exotic pets can be is just another reason why they should not be owned by private citizens.
Along with being dangerous, exotic pets are also very expensive. Buying exotic pets is costly enough,
but they also require a great deal of money to maintain. A strong, large, sturdy habitat must be built for
the animal along with buying large amounts of food. On page 7, paragraph 3, Lewis states If keeping a
dog can be time consuming and costly, that s nothing compared to a adult lion or chimpanzee. Aside
from the cost of keeping a exotic pet, they need lots of of time and frequent attention that most people
simply don t have. Exotic pets being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Although most exotic animals are bought and sold while they are young eventually they will mature

Philosophy of Teaching Essay
Philosophy of Teaching Twelve years ago, I was not interested in becoming a teacher. I was content
with my life. Then, I had two wonderful children. As they became school age, my opinion of teachers
was immensely altered. I have spent countless hours within my children s school, became personally
connected to the wonderful individuals who were their teachers, and developed a respect for these
tireless workers. These individuals have created a desire within me to enhance children s lives and
improve society through education.
Children are life s blessings. All children have the ability to learn. Just as all children are individuals,
they also possess diverse individual learning styles. A successful teacher must have the necessary ...

as strong role models within essentialism. Having a positive role model is an essential portion of a
child s education and I will work diligently to provide this experience for my students.
The third philosophy that I plan to utilize is social reconstructionism. Social reconstructionism was
praised by many of the great educators in history such as: Plato, Augustine, Karl Marx, John Dewey,
and many more. This particular philosophy encourages the educators to teach students to focus on
finding solutions for the social issues that are a part of our society. Society is plagued with many
social problems. Education is essential for future generations. As an educator, it is my responsibility to
ensure my student s possess strong problem solving skills. These skills will be beneficial to the
students during the education process as well as in their roles within society.
Finally, I have chosen progressivism. This method was developed by John Dewey, Ella Young, and
Francis Parker. Progressivism is a very interactive form of education. Children are exposed to real
world experiences and encouraged to develop questions and find answers or solutions for these
experiences. I believe that

Analysis Of Saki s The Unrest Cure
This year in Funny Pages, I have learned a considerable amount about the art of Comedy. Some of the
stories we read were such classics as: Twelfth Night, The Lull, Handful of Dust, and the Unrest Cure.
Each of these stories are brilliant and amusing in its own ways. These stories also have a likeness in
the types of humor practiced. There are several elements that seem to be repeated throughout such as:
satire, characters that represent the spirit of comedy or its enemy, and

A Personal Legend In Paulo Coelho s The Alchemist
What is a personal legend? In The Alchemist the king of Salem says that one s personal legend is
...what you have always wanted to accomplish (21). This novel is about a young boy who travels the
desert, pursuing his personal legend, trying to find his treasure. Meanwhile, he learns how to connect
with the world and many other valuable lessons, including his own personal legend. Paulo Coelho
writes about person legends all throughout the book. He doesn t just talk about Santiago s personal
legend, he talks about many other other too. He starts out by writing about other s personal legends
and how they never followed their dreams or tries to achieve it. He uses the baker in the plaza as an
example. He tells the reader about the baker when the old man points at him and tells Santiago: When
he was a child, that man wanted to travel, too. But he decided first to buy his bakery and put some
money aside. When he s an old man, he s going to spend a month in Africa. He never realized that
people are capable, at any time in their lives, of doing what they dream of (22 23)
This is the first example of personal legend that Coelho uses. The baker never followed his personal
legend because he opened a bakery. This is not the only time Coelho showed someone failing or not
going after his or her dream. He also talks about a crystal merchant who didn t achieve his dream
either. As Santiago travels through the desert trying to achieve his personal legend he meets many new

Information About Security Software Developers And...
During the course of this year, I was exposed to technology and its mechanisms. This allowed me to
ponder on the possible technological career paths I could venture on. Prior to researching, I had only
decided on one profession; a physical therapist. I was mainly interested in careers related to software
and website developing. Therefore, I researched and reviewed information about security software
developers and multimedia architects. I created the Evaluation Matrix for Choosing a Career to assist
me in the process of examining the careers. In the Evaluation Matrix for Choosing a Career , I
assessed the careers according to the criteria. The two most important factors for a career are its
demand and salary. From researching, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Security software developers got the equivalent score as multimedia architects, but under the weighted
score, it scored only a few points off physical therapist. The difference between the weighted score of
a physical therapist and multimedia architects was 0.3 points.
All three of these careers include multiple examples of emerging technologies that help them act
efficiently. For instance, recently security software developers have been using cloud servers to
protect their information. This technology will allow developers to store the different type of security
software they create. The cloud will let them protect virtual software such as firewalls and cyber
security systems. (Mellow Jr., 2017) A major limitation of using the cloud is financial circumstances.
(Ward, 2017) The majority of cloud applications are freeware but do not include all features. This
would mean that one would have to pay a certain amount in order to customize and add necessary
features. Also, since the cloud is internet based the information made by security software developers
may not be safe. This all means security software developers need advanced security features to
maintain protection on their virtual software.
A popular new emerging technology for a physical therapist to use is virtual rehabilitation. This new
technology allows physical therapists to treat their patients with captivating, game like scenarios.

Some of the research findings are listed below: Adults will commit to learning when they believe that
the objectives are realistic and important for their personal and professional needs. Adults desire to be
the origin of their own learning and should have some control over the what, who, how, why, when,
and where of their learning. Coaching and other kinds of follow up support are needed because adult
learners do not automatically transfer learning into daily practice. Adults need feedback on the results
of their efforts. Adults need direct, concrete experiences for applying what they have learned to their
work. Adult learners come to the learning process with self direction and a wide range of previous
experiences. Employment for the purpose of coaching on a one to one basis responds to each of these
characteristics of adult learners whether they lead schools or private businesses. The authors further
discuss what coaching isn t. In order to understand the concept of coaching it is necessary to know
what coaching is not, and to review some of the practices that are infrequently confused with it.
Coaching is not training. Coaching is centered on context and design to respond to the needs of the
individual learner. Coaching is not mentoring although effective mentors use coaching skills and
strategies.

Analysis Of The Movie Broadway
A war is fought on many fronts. The war front were the actually fighting takes place. The government
front were the stiff shirts fight politics. The home front were the people still at home have to deal with
the repercussions of war. And the public front were people still had to go about their daily lives. This
is where Broadway was born and raised. Broadway was just getting started in the late 1860 s so it was
still a baby when World War One began. Broadway was loved by all and people could go see their
favorite shows, with their favorite actors for the low price of $1.50 or $2.00. Before WWI Broadway
was not really concerned with the outside world, but the war changed all that. Soon the only thing one

and he is to this day the only person who was allowed to perform in union shows without an equity

to help with the war, but WWI still changed the style of Broadway, and how it worked. In 1917 Dr.
Frank Crane said, The stage is not a nation s weakness, extravagance or undoing, but it is a nation s
deep refreshment that gives to the hearts and minds of a great people that spirit of courage and light
and adventure that is needed to achieve success in the arena of world conflict. (Atkinson, 1970) Dr.
Crane was more than right in his statement. Broadway was not taking away from the war, or trying to
shove it in a corner, acting, and hoping that it did not exist. They were embracing it, and were helping
the cause. During WWI Broadway was teeming with servicemen. To help those coming to Broadway
for the first time, information centers were set up all to help soldiers. These centers would give
soldiers information, such as what shows to go see in their short time in the city (Atkinson, 1970).

The Struggle Of A Father s Life On Sundays By Robert Hayden
In this poem, the author Robert Hayden dramatizes the conflict of a father son relationship, inviting us
to recall our past relationships with parents with him. This poem was written so the speaker can reflect
on his own life and help the reader connect to him.
The opening stanza sets the scene with the speaker telling us about his father s life on Sundays. Note
how the author uses imagery to show his inner feelings of coldness towards his father at time, using
words like blue black cold (line 2) and cracked hands (line 30). These words also show a sense of
loneliness. Sunday is a day of rest for most people. A working man should be able to sleep in rather
than waking up early. But that was not the case for the man in this poem, or the speaker s father. He
wakes up early and begins his daily tasks. The coldness expressed in this first stanza goes beyond the
literal temperature of the room. This coldness describes the ungrateful attitude of his family, none of
them having ever thanked their father for his hard work in the household. This poem is written in past
tense, allowing the speaker to realize the amount of regret he holds for his ingratitude.
The use of the words cold, splintering, breaking in the second stanza reinforces the feeling of coldness
in the first stanza. Splintering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rhetorical question that is present in the last two lines of the poem, show the speakers shame and
almost remorse. The first What did I know shows a lack of knowledge of the sacrifice of others,
especially his father. When the speaker says, What did I know of love s austere and lonely offices?
shows the realization of the willingness of his father to wake up and complete the tasks for his loved
ones. The word austere is used to describe the tasks performed, as well as the man who performs
them. The author uses the word offices as a final word to compare the functions and duties performed

Why I Should Be A Teacher
I want to be a teacher to continue to serve. I have served twenty years as officer in the United States
Army and I want to continue to serve others in a different capacity. Through my time in service and
later as member of the civilian work force I have seen the struggles of workers and employers as they
struggle to find sustainable matches. One of the answers to this struggle a is better prepared work
force. However, there are segments of our country that have been systematically left out, and I want to
address that.
I grew up in Seattle during the de segregation, and it was normal for me to be the only black kid in my
class. As society around me came to grips with the change in the city, I had to go to school. I could
wait for programs and understanding to take hold and remove the old ways. I was labeled one of those
kids , a disruptive child in the class, until at the behest of my parents and school administrators, I was
tested. The test show I was not challenged by the normal material which lead to the behavior and soon
I was challenged.
However, my story doesn t end there. I still had to face the challenges that our current disadvantage
students face and there was a time where my future was in question. However, by the grace of a few
dedicated teachers, I was able to overcome my obstacles and find some success in the classroom,
because of that I want to pay it forward to the next generation. Because of the efforts of so many, I

Health Issue: Access to Health Services
The advancement of medical technology and knowledge has extended human lifetimes and increased

to enjoy the company of their grandchildren. The advantages of health care are numerous, but there

Problems with accessing health care services affect populations in the United States disproportionately
(Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, 2014). According to the Office of Disease
Prevention and Health Promotion, 4.5% of the United States population on whole in 2011 experienced
difficulty obtaining necessary medical care. Those who identified with two or more races had a higher
rate of 4.5%. This rate is even higher when considering family income. Of persons whose family
incomes were below the Poverty Threshold, 7.0% were unable to obtain or were delayed in obtaining
necessary medical care. For comparison purposes, the prevalence was only 3.0% among those who
have an income that is 600% of the Poverty Threshold.
This health issue needs to be addressed because certain groups, like those mentioned previously, are
disproportionately represented among those who have health access problems. According National
Healthcare Quality and Disparity Reports (NHQR), this is a concern because access to health services
is the most significant contributing factor to poor quality of care (NHQR, 2014). Limited access to
health care and poor health impact individuals because it can be a barrier to achieving full potential
and can negatively affect quality of life. Health insurance is an aspect of getting patients into the

Physical Appearance In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
In today s society, people are constantly being judged based on their physical appearance; lacking
aesthetics in any way may lead to rejection. In Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, Shelley created
characters that experienced what was going on in society during her day and what is still present in
society today. One of the characters s in Frankenstein was abandoned and left with no one due to his
undesirable physical appearance. In today s society, this is similar to what people with deformities
often experience. Due to the inferior mentality, race, and class in society in which Mary Shelley lived,
the creature s unappealing physical appearance played an immense role in the abandonment he
experienced; to this day, physical appearance still plays a huge role in society.

never ask why is there so much evil in the world in fear of testing their faith to God. Moral and natural
evil are kinds of evil that we see in the world but have no explanation as to why God would allow
these to happen. J.L. Mackie claims that any explanation for how evil can exist with the onmimax God

Generation Gaps in Flannery s A Good Man is Hard to Find
The use of symbolism that emphasizes a major gap between the two generations, as well as religion,
theme, and imagery along with an intriguing story plot make Flannery s A Good Man is hard to Find
one of America s classic short stories. Imagery is widely used in O Connor s story, which makes the
characters and surroundings seem lifelike. In the depiction of the grandmother the reader can visual

They both agreed that a good man is hard to find. The children and the ways of the grandmother
symbolized the division between the generations in the story. The children, June Star and John Wesley,
represent a new generation of unruly and disrespectful people. On the other hand, the grandmother
represents the strong, southern heritage and stubborn godly beliefs. The two conflict when they
discuss going to Tennessee rather than go to Florida, which is what the grandmother wants to do. June
Star, who can read the grandmother like a book, remarks after John Wesley told his grandmother to
stay at home if she did not want to go to Florida, She wouldn t stay at home for a million bucks.
Afraid she d miss something. She has to go everywhere we go. This is a prime example of the loss of
respect the children had for the grandmother. The grandmother does nothing but reply, Alright, Miss.
The generation gap creates a stir, but the outcome of the two coinciding might be positive. Religion is
a crucial point of the story. Coming to the end of the story, The Misfit and the grandmother are alone
together talking. The Misfit s responses to the grandmother s prayers advice reveal that these two
individuals are on two very different levels with concern to religion. The Misfit has a much deeper

The Cause And Effect Of Deafness About ninety percent of the global population has the ability to hear the sound of their family s voice, hear their favorite songs, hear their own voice, these are just a few sounds that sadly are taken for granted by many people, and unfortunately many will never get to experience. About 10% of the Global population is affected by some percentage of hearing loss with hundred twenty four million people affected from a moderate level to a severe deafness. Deafness is caused by different situations. Research shows that two to three out of thousand children in US are born deaf. There is no actual cure for deafness, but in 1982 the invention of cochlear implants gave profoundly deaf and severely hard of hearing individual the chance to experience sound in a completely new way. This electronic device that is implanted in the brain behind the ears can give deaf individuals hearing ability. Despite objections by activists in the Deaf community that cochlear implants destroy Deaf culture, children who cannot hear should receive the surgery as a way to improve their communication skills, increase their educational options, and improve their career opportunities. Democracy: A political system in which citizens enjoy a number of basic civil and political rights, and in which their most important political leaders are elected in free and fair elections and accountable under a rule of law (26). In the studies we have undertaken, comparing and exploring various countries and systems politically, economically, and psychologically throughout the quarter, this outcry of democracy has prevailed as a main theme. Socialism offered an ideal and classless society in which the state controlled everything, yet the people utilized the practice of controlling politics. He formed a highly centralized government, which was furthered to totalitarian goals by his successor, Joseph Stalin. Stalin focused on military and industrial gains which, by his death in 1953, had crippled the Soviet state because his successors could not make any reforms without undermining the CPSU the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (367). A heavy reliance on secret police and a militarized economy was already in place when Mikhail Gorbachev came on the scene. He was elected General Secretary of the CPSU in 1985 when the USSR was in middle of continually diminishing economic productivity; it became stagnant. With his powers as secretary, he saw room for reform to change the USSR drastically. He planned to do this through instituting glastnost, or openness, in society, which he believed would ameliorate levels of corruption. Corruption was a detriment to democratization, which he believed would heal the economy. He brought back the first contested elections in many years. With democratic procedures in place, Gorbachev lost his power to Yeltsin. Notwithstanding the amended constitution, Yeltsin took liberty to control parliament to cope with the country s economic problems (369). Many of you think it s their jobs, but you forget that they help you, it is necessary for you. Many people argue that the cause of this situation is since the standards of behavior are not tight or industrial lifestyle makes us changes ... But still one more reason, it is a habit. Some athletes use drugs, where they can train their bodies hard and then have their bodies recover fast. No Electronic Theft Act No Electronic Theft Act (NET) BIS/220 Introduction to Computer Application and Systems April 2, 2013 Copyright infringement has become a serious issue in today s world. Owners of this material lose money every time an image or any material is used illegally. The Internet has brought about more opportunities for someone to steal copyrighted material. An Internet user can simply copy and image, save it, and use it for their own gain while the holder of the copyright of that image gets nothing. This situation was becoming an issue so in 1997 the United States government enacted the No Electronic Theft Act to help stop this from occurring. Colonial America Alan Taylor Summary Of both the reading assignments over the summer I enjoyed Colonial America by Alan Taylor, because of the writing structure, the footnotes/sources and the visual aids. This text is no more than what it is named for, the colonization of America. The book is a view of the events that led to colonization, and the effects said colonization had on the, now american, landscape. It is a clean a simple overview of the causes and effects of the colonization of America. The first thing that the author did that made this text standout was the structure he wrote it in. Most historical texts try to sound smart and use big words, or just give an overload of facts, but while this book does have many facts, making it a bit dry, they are spaced well enough ... The map (page 2 3) is used to expose us to the difference of maps from Europe in the 1500 s to the maps of natives in the 1500 s. The natives had maps on a much smaller scale and those maps were not one hundred percent correct geographically, whereas the maps from Europe were much grander, and geographically correct. The usage of visual aids helps you to grasp how Europeans and natives alike didn t know how expansive their New World was. The authors use of portraits can show you how the colonizers saw the natives as savages and to them proper clothes were a sign of civilized people, the portrait of Pocahontas (page 57) shows her in much different clothing than that of what she would wear if she still was with her tribe. These portraits like the one of Theyanoguin (page 110) canbe used as an example of how different the natives looked from the colonizers and how strange they were. It can also show the cultural hybridity of the the native chief after he had made a visit to England to negotiate with Queen Anne. The author also includes one political cartoon depicting one of the rich family in Charleston during the 1800 s (page 88), this family most likely owned slaves, so to me this cartoon could be a attack on how most of the richest families in Charleston made ... This movie is a cluttered mess that is being slammed by critics and many loyal fans that saw the same issues that have plagued other comic book movies. The laundry list of problems with this movie start at an editing level, the movie is cut wrong. For example The rat only snorted and thrust his hands deep into his pocket , cried the Toad, straddling and expanding himself , said Toad imploringly , followed him eagerly etc. The reader can interprete the nature and personality of the characters more precisely through exaggeration because they are able to picture them in their imagination. The use of exaggeration is effective as it allows the true nature of the character to be expressed in the writing, for example said Toad imploringly illustrates how Toad is desperate and pleaing to Ratty, however if the text only contained said Toad then the true nature of Toad would not be evoked in the audiences imagination. Adults desire to be the origin of their own learning and should have some control over the what, who, how, why, when, and where of their learning. Coaching and other kinds of follow up support are needed because adult learners do not automatically transfer learning into daily practice. Adults need feedback on the results of their efforts. Adults need direct, concrete experiences for applying what they have learned to their work. Adult learners come to the learning process with self direction and a wide range of previous experiences. Employment for the purpose of coaching on a one to one basis responds to each of these characteristics of adult learners whether they lead schools or private businesses. In order to understand the concept of coaching it is necessary to know what coaching is not, and to review some of the practices that are infrequently confused with it. Coaching is not training. Coaching is centered on context and design to respond to the needs of the individual learner. Coaching is not mentoring although effective mentors use coaching skills and strategies. ... The home front were the people still at home have to deal with the repercussions of war. And the public front were people still had to go about their daily lives. This is where Broadway was born and raised. Broadway was just getting started in the late 1860 s so it was still a baby when World War One began. Broadway was loved by all and people could go see their favorite shows, with their favorite actors for the low price of $1.50 or $2.00. Before WWI Broadway was not really concerned with the outside world, but the war changed all that. Soon the only thing one could see a play on was the war, or ... Even after everything was settled he did not join any union, and he is to this day the only person who was allowed to perform in union shows without an equity card (Rusie, 1998). The war had a huge effect on the world, Broadway included; Broadway did its best to help with the war, but WWI still changed the style of Broadway, and how it worked. In 1917 Dr. Frank Crane said, The stage is not a nation s weakness, extravagance or undoing, but it is a nation s deep refreshment that gives to the hearts and minds of a great people that spirit of courage and light and adventure that is needed to achieve success in the arena of world conflict. (Atkinson, 1970) Dr. Crane was more than right in his statement. Broadway was not taking away from the war, or trying to shove it in a corner, acting, and hoping that it did not exist. They were embracing it, and were helping the cause. During WWI Broadway was teeming with servicemen. To help those coming to Broadway for the first time, information centers were set up all to help soldiers. These centers would give soldiers information, such as what shows to go see in their short time in the city (Atkinson, 1970). • 29. The Struggle Of A Father s Life On Sundays By Robert Hayden In this poem, the author Robert Hayden dramatizes the conflict of a father son relationship, inviting us to recall our past relationships with parents with him. This poem was written so the speaker can reflect on his own life and help the reader connect to him. The opening stanza sets the scene with the speaker telling us about his father s life on Sundays. Note how the author uses imagery to show his inner feelings of coldness towards his father at time, using words like blue black cold (line 2) and cracked hands (line 30). These words also show a sense of loneliness. Sunday is a day of rest for most people. A working man should be able to sleep in rather than waking up early. But that was not the case for the man in this poem, or the speaker s father. He wakes up early and begins his daily tasks. The coldness expressed in this first stanza goes beyond the literal temperature of the room. This coldness describes the ungrateful attitude of his family, none of them having ever thanked their father for his hard work in the household. This poem is written in past tense, allowing the speaker to realize the amount of regret he holds for his ingratitude. The use of the words cold, splintering, breaking in the second stanza reinforces the feeling of coldness in the first stanza. Splintering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The word austere is used to describe the tasks performed, as well as the man who performs them. I have served twenty years as officer in the United States Army and I want to continue to serve others in a different capacity. Through my time in service and later as member of the civilian work force I have seen the struggles of workers and employers as they struggle to find sustainable matches. One of the answers to this struggle a is better prepared work force. However, there are segments of our country that have been systematically left out, and I want to address that. I grew up in Seattle during the de segregation, and it was normal for me to be the only black kid in my class. As society around me came to grips with the change in the city, I had to go to school. I could wait for programs and understanding to take hold and remove the old ways. I was labeled one of those kids , a disruptive child in the class, until at the behest of my parents and school administrators, I was tested. The test show I was not challenged by the normal material which lead to the behavior and soon I was challenged. However, my story doesn t end there. I still had to face the challenges that our current disadvantage students face and there was a time where my future was in question. However, by the grace of a few dedicated teachers, I was able to overcome my obstacles and find some success in the classroom, because of that I want to pay it forward to the next generation. Those who identified with two or more races had a higher rate of 4.5%. This rate is even higher when considering family income. One of the characters s in Frankenstein was abandoned and left with no one due to his undesirable physical appearance. In today s society, this is similar to what people with deformities often experience. The children and the ways of the grandmother symbolized the division between the generations in the story. The two conflict when they discuss going to Tennessee rather than go to Florida, which is what the grandmother wants to do. June Star, who can read the grandmother like a book, remarks after John Wesley told his grandmother to stay at home if she did not want to go to Florida, She wouldn t stay at home for a million bucks. Afraid she d miss something. She has to go everywhere we go. This is a prime example of the loss of respect the children had for the grandmother.
