Béla Bartók, born in Nagyszentmiklós, Hungary, is regarded as one of the most successful and
prominent Hungarian composers. He was also an ethnomusicologist and pianist. Since being an
ethnomusicologist, he was a relentless collector and analyst of folk music...[and his works were]
highly influenced by his ethnomusicological studies, particularly those of Hungarian (Gillies,
Malcolm, Bela, Bartok). Bartók traveled across Hungary and Eastern Europe, learning and recording
