Flashbulb Memories
On the other hand, Sharot et al carried out a study that supported this theory in 2007. The aim was
to determine the role of biological factors on flashbulb memories three years after the 911 attacks.
It included 24 participants who were in New York City on that day. Their brain activity was
observed using functional magnetic resonance imaging as they recalled the event, as well as other
distinct, autobiographical events from the summer of 2001. The latter served as baseline memories
for evaluating the nature of 9/11 memories. After the fmri, participants were asked to rate their
memories depending on how vivid, detailed, confident, and accurate they thought they were.
Participants were also asked to write down their personal memories. Only

28th Amendment Benefits
The proposal of the twenty eighth amendment is that no Supreme Court justice shall serve any
more than 18 full years as a judge on the Supreme Court. A term of 18 years is suggested most
often because this length would allow presidents to appoint one member every two years (or two
every term, which is approximately the historical average) but would not allow them, even if
elected to two terms, to appoint a majority of the court. The constitution does not clearly specify
any limit to the number of Supreme Court justices nor the length of their terms. In this proposal for
the 28th amendment, not only gives term limits, but also sets a mental competency exam for every
fifth year and proposes vetting every second year. The founding fathers did... Show more content on

The most common thought about lifetime tenure is that the Founding Fathers wanted to protect the
Justices from political pressure. Justices spend so many years on the court that they are not easily
influenced by the current political culture, therefore some argue that term limits are not necessary.
Taken together, the evidence does not support the argument that, measured either by age or length
of service, lifetime tenure on the Supreme Court needs to be modified or abolished. Doubtless
there are examples of justices who time their departures in just such a fashion, but statistical
assessments that sort out the relative impact of the factors that might lead a justice to retire suggest
that the justices have retired principally because of ill health and the availability of pension
benefits. If this quote were true, Chief Justice John Rehnquist, when diagnosed with thyroid cancer
and Justice Ginsburg, undergoing surgery for colon cancer, would have most probably retired for
these health reasons. ... the Court is a group consisting almost entirely of senior citizens, several of
whom have battled serious health problems. Compounding these concerns is the fact that the
responsibility for determining when a member of the Court may no longer be fully fit for the job
is left to the discretion of the individual justice, who obviously may not be in the best position to
render an objective judgment about his or her

The Islamic Law s Enforcement Of Halal Regulations
Executive Summary The advent of globalisation in the last two decades had an immense impact
to the political and legal environments which are essential aspects in international marketing. As
there is no existing single political and legal environment because of its complexity on a variety
of levels, the political and legal environment will be referred to as one concept in this paper. The
political and legal aspects will be discussed in relation to the domestic and international
environment. In order to have a grasp of the factors at play, this paper will use the Islamic law s
enforcement of halal regulations as an example. This paper will highlight the issues in the domestic
environment such as social and environmental concerns,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hasty changes in technology, political and social structures, ethnic composition and lifestyles
have now defined the world we currently live in. One example that arises in political debates is
the shifting of world political and economic power from US to China and other countries rising
economies. With globalisation s effect that one change in one place may have results in other
parts of the sphere, this shift in political and economic power is seen to surge amendments to
legal frameworks around the world (Czinkota et al., 2014). This simply means that globalisation
has significant effects to the political and legal environments which are essential aspects in
international marketing. The Political and Legal Environment The political legal environment
comprises varied factors in a country s government policies and legal systems.Although there is
no existing single political and legal environment because of its complexity on a variety of levels,
the political and legal environment will be discussed as one concept in this paper. It is because of
the reason that political decisions lead to creation of laws. This paper will focus on how a manager
can make sense of political and legal circumstances in the domestic and international levels
especially in marketing Halal products. This environment becomes

Cons Of Modern Technology
Introduction: In the modern era, the thing that is being used the most is the technology.
Technology makes work easy for human beings and gradually they are replacing humans. It has
pros and cons. With the help of latest technological machines work is being done much faster and
the problem is lack of jobs. Now a day s technologyis being used and extensively being spread
around the world. Modern and latest technological tools can be used by people at whatever place
and all the time around the world. Statista published the article Number of InternetUsers Worldwide
2005 2017 states that the given data on the cumulative users of the internet around the worldwide
from 2005 to 2017 are 3.5 billion. The frequent use of technology has a severe psychological effect
among people especially students.
Figure 1. Number of Internet Users Worldwide 2005 2017 The latest tools of technology, which
includes phones, internet and other social media apps. In the modern era the primary means of
communication are the internet and phones, these tools have become an essential part of people s
lives and generally rely on them, however they have effects on some people. In the prior few years,
technology has improved in various ways. The Internet is an immense favor to people with
technology. In the article A, Birdwell. (January 8, 2007). Addicted to phones? That the Japanese
studies reveals that the students or children with latest technology stays at home or they only have
friends with advanced technological tools, an Italian study shows that the one third of the students
or people own multiple cell phones and very addicted to them. The British study reveals that 36% of
the college students do not go out of their rooms and dorms without phones they are extremely
reliant on them, and they cannot enjoy their precious time.

Evaluation Of Performance Management Systems Essay
Evaluation of performance management systems (500 words) Recognition Business change and
adapt their goals and strategies all the time as the world of business changes rapidly. A very
critical but overlooked element of the renewal process is the impact of the businesses change has
on the employees behaviour and motivation. Managers must ensure that the rewards and
recognition systems are very carefully set aligned with operational goals and overall strategic. If
the reward and recognition system is misaligned with the objectives that the managers had in mind
the result in behaviour could hinder the organisation. The unanticipated actions may be a personal
benefit for the employee also may be beneficial to front line salesrepresents and floor managers but
this moves the organisation away from its overall goals. The challenge is to assess and implement
an incentive system that motivates employees to act in support of strategic and operational
objectives. But how does an operational manager or executive know when they have the right
rewards and recognition program, or if the one they have implemented is still having the desired
effect? In addition to measuring progress of employee performance toward corporate goals, well
defined performance measurement systems help gauge employee reception, understanding and buy
in for reward systems. This critical feedback can help managers make adjustments necessary to
drive improvements and avoid the unanticipated behaviours and

Censorship In The Music Industry
In recent years, the music industry has immensely changed from buying physical copies of an
album to streaming songs online from services such as Apple Music and Spotify. The landscape of
the music industry is slowly transforming due to listeners transition from buying music to
streaming music. Many think that these services are giving artists a run for their money, as less
and less physical copies of their work are being sold. Due to this, artists are leaning to consider
licensing out their musicand corporate sponsorship. Yet many think that artists are selling out if they
take this action. Yet, in the midst of the large upheaval, artists should be allowed to use their music

Power Poses And Their Effect On Cognition
Power Poses and their Effect on Embodied Cognition
Brandon Farley
Washington State University Vancouver
Abstract
The current study was conducted to delve deeper into the relationship between muscular changes
and subjects reported embodied cognitions. Thus was expected that power poses would have a
significant increase on subject s academic related self esteem. Subjects were 33 undergraduate
students in an undergraduate psychology research methods course (males=9, females=24).
Participants were split into 2 randomized groups, no pose control group vs. power pose group.
The control group was asked to relax as they wished, whereas the power pose group viewed
images of different poses of which to imitate from. Experimental subjects copied 2 different power
poses while holding the pose for 1 minute each. All participants rated questions regarding feeling
frustrated about performance, how likely they are to feel self conscious. Opposite to the current
hypothesis, results showed that power pose condition showed similar amounts of self esteem as the
no pose condition group did. Results indicate more investigation into power poses and their effects.
Keywords: self esteem, power pose, embodied cognitions
Power Poses and their Effect on Embodied Cognition Scientists have been trying to study the
relationship between physical positions and emotions. The interaction between the mind and body is

A Comparison of George Orwell s Totalitarian World of...
Orwell s Totalitarian World of 1984 is America in 2004
Orwell s allegorical critique of Stalinism in 1984 is often used in capitalist nations as a poignant
literary attack on Communism and other collectivist economic and political systems. The
argument often follows the lines of This is socialism, and as you can see, it doesn t work and just
leads to oppression. We re in a nice capitalist democracy, therefore we are better off. But is that
conclusion the truth?
Orwell didn t just intend 1984 as an attack on communism or socialism; instead it is both an attack
and a rather prophetic warning against any authoritarian structure, including the authoritarian
structure of capitalist democracies. Often we do not equate ... Show more content on

The powerful get away with this through propaganda and bias in the media. The telescreens of
America come in the forms of CNN or the New York Times. The corporate media touts the
successes of democracy in foreign nations without saying how it was achieved (through U.S.
military and economic interventions). It has reached the point where the powerful have set America
into a perpetual state of doublethink, where our leaders say one thing but mean the other.
To find examples of this doublethink, one needs only to look at the works of linguistics pioneer
Noam Chomsky. For the last few decades, Chomsky has focused his work on the connections
between language and politics. In his latest book, Profit Over People, Chomsky is forced to
differentiate between democracy (as we think it is) and really existing democratic theory (the
counter democratic system that actually exists). Most of the nations of Latin America and
Southeast Asia are currently running under the really existing democratic theory pushed on them
by the USA, a system where real democracy is only allowed if it serves the business interests of
America. Chomsky describes in depth this anti democracy in many of his works such as What
Uncle Sam Really Wants.
The same problems exist with free trade. The media leads Americans to believe that free trade is a
system with glorious benefits for everyone, in which all people are free to participate

known that the history of English illustrates the inevitability of linguistic change. In the seventeenth
and eighteenth century, the lexicographers in England had published some developed dictionaries,
but the lexicons in both England and America were set to standards by Samuel Johnson s
Dictionary of the English Language. (Seargeant and Swann, 2012) Samuel Johnson was born in
1709 in Lichfield, Staffordshire. The son of a bookseller, he rose to become one of the greatest
literary figures of the eighteenth century, most famously compiling A Dictionary of the English
Language. (Dr. Johnson s House, Samuel Johnson, 2012).
Before getting into more details about Dr. Johnson s dictionary, let s mention that the English
language grew more though years to become a national language. Before it became a national

Celtic, French and Latin languages. As Milroy and Milroy specify, written English has been valued

Customer Service Services At The Service Provider Essay
According to Lucas (2009), great customer service is presented by knowledgeable, capable, and
enthusiastic employees who deliver products and services to their customers and create consumer
loyalty. From that point, it could be claimed that the best employees will build the best service
which surpass customerexpectation and the result of that action is when customer repurchase or talk
to another potential customers. In short, customer serviceis the action when service provider gives
customer what they desire. In addition, Gronroos (1983) proposed that service value is also
affected by the service provider. In this case, the term service provider can be defined as the
company workers. Moreover, employees achieve the consumer satisfaction not only by the price
but also by providing the excellent service. Different expectation comes from different customer
and the satisfied result depends on the experience or purpose of each customer. By defining the
different between customer gender, customer age or level of customer social status, service
provider can create perfect strategies to finish company profit goal which comes from customer
loyalty budget.
The important goal in achieving consumer loyalty is developing consumer satisfaction. By
concentrate in customer service, company provides the best care, the great customer appreciation
and the special atmosphere which comfort customer or create memorable experience and the result
is that they want to reuse the service.

Automotive Ignition Systems
Ignition Systems:
New and Old
Jeff Tuttle
Period 3
9/9/04
Ignitions systems in motor vehicles have evolved in the past thirty years. Points was a simple
concept but was not reliable and needed adjustment and replacement of components seemed
constant. Today a magnetic sensor relays a signal to the computer which in turn sends the voltage to
the selected cylinder to ignite the fuel/air mixture. There are not mechanical parts to fail or become
corroded and brittle. There are many different parts to an ignition system. These parts differ
between modern and old ignition systems. There is a coil. Sometimes one coil provides the
increased voltage to the distributor or there is no distributor at all and each cylinder has its own ...

When the ignition switch is placed in the start position, the solenoid windings are energized and the
resulting shift lever movement causes the drive pinion gear to engage the flywheel ring gear, and
cranking takes place. When the engine starts, an overrunning clutch (part of the drive assembly)
protects the armature from too much speed until the switch is opened. At this time, a return spring
causes the pinion gear to disengage from the flywheel.
The spark plug wire carries 20,000 or more volts from the distributor cap to the spark plug. Spark
plug wires are made of various layers of materials. The fiber core, inside the spark plug wire
carries the high voltage. The older design of spark plug wires used a metallic wire to carry the
high voltage. This caused electrical interference with the radio and TV reception. Some spark
plug wires have a locking connection at the distributor cap. The distributor cap must first be
removed and the terminals be squeezed together, and then the spark plug wire can be removed
from the distributor cap. To reduce interference with radio and TV reception, ignition systems are
provided with resistance in the secondary circuit. Resistor spark plugs or special resistor type
ignition cable may be used. To work effectively in modern ignition systems, it is important that the
resistor ignition cable is capable of producing a specifically designed resistance. The cable must
also have enough insulation so that

The Alamo Essay
The Alamo
To the people of Texas and all Americans in the World:
I shall never surrender or retreat ... I Am determined to sustain myself as long as possible and die
like a soldier who never forgets what it is due to his honor and that of his country VICTORY OR
DEATH. This was a letter sent by William Barret Travisduring the siege of the Alamo on February
24, 1836. It was a cry for help to anybody and everybody willing to listen.
It all started in 1830 with Stephen Austin, a leader of American pioneers in the wild, living in
Texas, under the rule of the Mexican government, who had solved two major problems that the
settlers had with the government. The colonist were now allowed to keep slaves in Texas, even

In the fall of 1835 Santa Anna had sent more troops, under the leadership of his brother in law
General Martin Cos, to Texas in order to enforce the immigration laws. Austin and some soldiers
had surrounded settlements in Mexican territory and were considered by the government to be
rebels. Mexico had no choice but to attempt to use military forces.
Thirty thousand Texans were willing to fight against a nation of seven million. They did not receive
any government aid from the United States but sympathetic Southern states secretly sent troops.
The war began with battle of the Lexington of the Texas revolution taken place on October 2,
1835. This little battle consisted of one hundred Mexican troops sent to Gonzales, a town east of
San Antonio, to order the settlers to surrender their only cannon. The soldiers said come and take it
and eventually they killed one Mexican soldier. The war had begun.
More and more Texans answered the call to arms such as Ben Milan a soldier of the War of 1812,
James Bowie who was know for his knife, Sam Houston and Stalwart Davy Crockett both former
soldiers and congressmen. The name that would lead them all William Barrette Travis.

Grinding Is A Metal Cutting Operation
Grinding is a metal cutting operation performed by means of abrasive particles rigidly mounted
on a rotating wheel. Each of the abrasive particles act as a single point cutting tool and grinding

Why Did Medea Seek Retribution
The Greece play Medea is about a wife from a foreign land that is abandoned by her husband.
She chooses to take revenge against him by killing his new bride, his father in law, and his two
kids. For Medea, trying to punish him was not justified for the circumstance that she was in. This
was mainly for two reasons. Starting off, she was a foreigner who married and became a queen in
a land, so there were different rights and customs that she could not ignore. Adding to that, it was
not socially acceptable because she was a woman living in Greece. If Medeawas a man living in
Greece, it would of been fine for her to make the choices she did. Because of these factors, Medea

given provisions to take care of her and her children (Jason chose to leave his children with her).
These points however, are actually not all that true. Much of this is proven wrong in the play

The Reality Of Visual Culture
When talking about a simple image, what else do we know about Visual Culture? Well, have you
ever been on the internet? Of course you ve have. The internet is where modern Visual Culture
lives. Mostly through jokes, and these jokes online are usually called memes. Now what is a
meme? Well it originally comes noted from the book The Selfish Gene(1989) Where a British
scientist name Richard Dawkinsstated, a meme was A unit of cultural transmission. With the
understanding of a meme, what does it do? Well after watching the YouTube
video Visual Culture
Online (PBS, 2011) they spoked of one person making one funny Photoshop of a picture of Leo
walking, someone else would like to contribute and try to make a funnier version, and then you end
up having a large body of these Leo photos all over the internet. Memes are something that brings
people together and makes them want to collaborate.
With memes being the funny side of Visual Culture, what about the video side? Visual Culture is
in many forms of media, such as movies, TV Show, and even an internet video. The best thing that
represents Visual Culture as a video form would be YouTube. YouTube is a website where you can
upload any video you like. Jeff Bullas a researcher for jeffbullas.com, found that 60 hours of videos
are uploaded every minute, or one hour of video is uploaded to YouTube every second. Over 4
billion videos are viewed a day (Bullas, 2012) that s a lot of viewers and videos uploaded. YouTube

Perception Of The Human Condition In The Stranger By...
In his novel, The Stranger by Albert Camus, translated by Matthew Ward, irony within the
protagonist s ( Meursault ) contrasting perception of the human condition is used to illustrate and
invoke the reader to question the contradictory nature of societal expectations. His indifferent and
unprecedented reactions to experiences relative to the characters that Camus laid before him aid in
displaying the absurdity of a world constrained by the chains of conventional wisdom. The
contrasting nature of Meursault s demeanor in defying conventional wisdom in experiences such as
love and death not only reveals the underlying hypocrisy of the humancondition but further
illustrates the arbitrary essence of defining a human life.
Irony in part one establishes Meursault s confliction with society as he is seemingly unaffected and
ultimately indifferent over an occurrence that universal sentiments would perceive as utterly
devastating. When Meursault is faced with the death of his mother in the genesis of the novel, he
remarks, Maman died today. Or yesterday maybe, I don t know (Camus 1). The immense
indifference of Meursault s morality when it comes to the death of a human being, let alone his
own mother, allows readers to draw a contrasting line from the very first sentence of Meursault s
moral behavior relative to what society would deem as acceptable . Camus uses this expectation
defying event to invoke the reader s stance on the human condition s tendency to mourn

Coastal Erosion In Louisiana
In this project we had to pick an environmental issue in our area and research it. In this project I
chose coastal erosion because it was the most common environmental issue. This is a problem
because coastal erosion causes many people to lose their home and jobs that live on the coast and
if this continues all of louisiana will be under water then nobody will have anywhere to live in
Louisiana. This an issue not in just in Louisiana but on most every coastline in the world.
Methods:
I picked which issue we wanted
Then I had to research this issue on multiple websites
I then had to make slide show and lab report.
Results: I found out a couple things about coastal erosion. One is that it affects everyone who lives

PE Classroom Pool Analysis
In the pool phase of the PE class, we learned three major components: how to kickboard, how to
tread water, and how to do different strokes. To start off each day in the pool, we warmed up
using kick boards and had people start on each side of the pool. When using a kickboard, we
must make sure our two hands are at the top of the board. The way we used the kickboard
involved kicking in the way of the freestyle stroke. Watching the youtube video, I learned kick
boarding is described as allowing you to target your legs, isolating them so you can practice your
kick stroke, improve your balance, or work on your leg strength. While kick boarding, you are

The first stroke we learned to do was how to do the freestyle stroke. With this stroke, you must
focus on reaching out in front as far as possible, and pulling the water back behind you while
kicking in a fluttering motion. The motion of your arms should look like a windmill spinning. In
the backstroke, the swimmer has his or her back facing the bottom of the pool while flutter
kicking their feet and doing their arm strokes. The way the backstroke is different is because
with the arm stroke your arm is going in the opposite direction as the freestyle stroke and you
must let your outside little finger enter the water first for the most efficient way to catch and
push the water. Lastly, we learned the breaststroke. In the breaststroke, your legs are kicking in a
frog like way to push the water back with the bottoms of your feet. In the youtube video it says
that you must sweep your arms outward while trying to catch as much water possible. When at the
end of the arm stroke, the swimmer s head can come out of the water to take a breathe. Those are
each of the stroke we have used during class time in Physical Education

Mission Statement On Community And Community Service In...
I hope you are doing well. As one of the members of the youth, I would like to address a concern
of mine involving the youth group. Our church s mission statement is experience, equip, and
severe. As a whole, I feel that the youth group is lacking in the area of service. Not only is
community service important to our church, I also believe it is crucial to have our youth involved
in communityoutreach to promote emotional and spiritual growth. I believe our youth should
participate in more community outreach because it will counter selfish tendencies, allow the youth
to feel helpful, and promote our church s presence in our community.
Let s face the fact, in general, the youth today are very selfish and narcissistic. It s all about having
the coolest clothes, the newest iPhone, or how many likes and retweets they can get. It sometimes
seems as if caring for others has completely disappeared from their thought process. They have very
much embraced the selfie lifestyle. Along with selfishness and narcissism, the youth also seem to
have become somewhat ungrateful. Although some may say that this is how typical teenagers act,
I think over the past few years it has become more and more prevalent. Despite that fact, is it not
our job as a youth group to try to work against the negative stereotypes and better ourselves. To
overcome and rise above the low expectations we typically have. This is why I believe creating and
promoting community outreach opportunities is so important.

Animal Farm Essay on Utopia
THE UTOPIAN DREAM, WHILE NOBLE, IS SHORT SIGHTED BECAUSE IT FAILS TO
ACCOUNT FOR THE FLAWS IN HUMAN NATURE. George Orwell s allegorical novel Animal
Farm demonstrates the rapid shift from hopeful Utopian Dream, to reproachful dystopian nightmare
as a result of fundamental flaws in human nature, such as avarice, selfishness and the thirst for
power over others. In the novel, the animals are promised a better life if they revolt and institute
the system of Animalism, then they are promised a better life if they build the windmill and, if all
else fails, the raven promises a better afterlife on Sugarcandy Mountain . However, the animals
ultimately never achieve their utopia because of the avaricious and power hungry nature of

The resigned apathy and passivity of some of the animals allows for faster erosion of the dream
of equality and allows for the pigs to maintain the power that wasn t rightfully theirs. A typical
example of general passivity towards the pigs actions was Benjamin, the old donkey. Having
knowledge of the pig s hypocrisy, Benjamin consciously decided against actions of rebellion
against the pigs, instead resigning himself to the fact that he could not help the situation. After
Boxer s death, Clover is so emotionally destroyed by his sudden disappearance that she ceases to
do anything. In accepting his death as the pigs tell her, she is being passive and not searching
for her own conclusions, even though she had doubts about it. It these, plus many more
examples of passivity towards the pig s reign, that concludes in the animals having to forfeit any
hope of the once so real, Utopian Dream. Animal Farm is the story of the animals that rebel
against their master in order to achieve their dream of a utopian society. The book opens in an
optimistic mood as Old Major in his speech describes a simple, natural farm in which all the
animals are free and equal. But gradually this energetic and positive mood disappears, as the
animals difficulties become progressively

The Economic Problem Of Homelessness
Economic problems such as being laid off of work or the rise in the cost of housing has lead
people to live on the streets. Many of the homeless are women that have become divorced or
have left home because of physical abuse. These women have no education because they have
not been given the chance to go and get the education that it takes nowadays to get the job, so
they are forced to live on the streets. They have no family to help them and they are left with no
other choice. People with mental illnesses also become homeless quite often. These people are
incapable of handling the stress of living on their own. These people get kicked out of their
homes and are too ashamed to go to their families because of their illness, so we see them on the
streets struggling to stay warm. Teenage mothers are also forced to live on the streets because
their families will not help them. The fathers are not there and that forces them to live on the
streets. So, they must resort to prostitution to pay for the food that their young ones need to stay
alive. There are many other people that become homeless for many different reasons. Some of
these people cannot help becoming homeless. Some of these people are the illegal immigrants that
come here from other places to get a better life but end up not having enough money to make it in
this hard world that we live in. Teenage runaways have different reasons for leaving home but all
have some of the same reason for becoming homeless. They simply

Humans And The Ai Possible Now
Humans and the AI possible now, are truly one and the same What does this mean?. The Human
body is but a foundry sundry? of systems and preconditioned thinking that is lead through cause and
effect. AI is the pinnacle of humanity s attempts at mimicking the creation of life through artificial
thinking. John R. Searle argues that the intentionality in human beings is a product of the brains
and its mental processes. He also notes that the certain brain processes are sufficient (indicating that
there is at times a bare minimum of processes) for the intentionality. He also states that the
instantiation of a computer program can be done by a human but the program would still lack the
relevant intentionality. Searle also states that, any mechanism capable of producing intentionality
must have casual powers equal to those of the brain. One important thing to note in Searle s
arguments is that he separates AI into two distinct categories. Strong AI and weak AI. Strong AI
being the advanced computers that are in fact, minds, and that these computers can actually
understand things. Weak AI on the other hand, are the computers that act as nothing more than
tools to be used to study and to serve any purpose we program it to do. Searle brings up several
arguments that he refutes such as the Systems Reply, The Robot reply, The Brain simulator reply,
the combination reply, The other minds reply, and the many mansions reply. The main argument that

For example, scientist Rotwang uses the appearance of Maria s body and made a robot Maria.
After he created the robot Maria, Fredersen uses the robot Maria to convince and tighten his
power over the workers. Because the robot Maria looks exactly like the human Maria, the
workers listened to what she had to say like they used to listen the real or the human Maria.
Here, the movie shows that it is the body what makes Maria identifiable that the scientist uses
Maria s body so that the workers see her and identify the body as Maria. The scientist s plan was
successful at the beginning because he convinced the workers to do what the robot Maria has to
say which the human Maria would not say. According to the movie, having the same body is what
makes a person s identity. Even though the workers knew Maria as a peace loving who preached in
front of the cross, when they see the same body with different characteristics that they do not
normally associate with the real Maria, the workers were convinced just by seeing her physical
body. They were fighting with each other when they see the robot Maria dancing lustfully because

What Are New Ideas Threaten Society
New Ideas Threaten Society The heart of the Enlightenment lied at the heart of Paris, France.
Intellectuals gathered throughout Europe to debate and justify new and old ideas. Gatherings
were held to host discussion as reformed concepts spread across Europe though passionate writers
and scholars. Traditional beliefs, customs, and conventions were examined during the
Enlightenment by these people and the citizens that come to read their papers. Controversy
brewed as power holders and religion met with the power of reason, but these ideas spread through
Europe in a variety of methods. For one, the introduction of Denis Diderot s Encyclopedia,

Salons were where writers, artists, philosophers, and other intellectuals gather informally to

Every Monday after school at 6 o clock, I walked into the therapy center, which mainly focused
on children s music and art therapy. I talked about my week at school, my family life, and my
mental health, amongst other things. My therapist, Kayla, asked me questions that included
How have you been feeling this past week? and Did you deal with anything difficult this week?
These therapy sessions were very routine and extremely monotonous. I never really knew what
I had wanted to become when I graduated college; I didn t even know what I wanted to major in.
That thought changed, about a year into attending therapy. I expressed my interests to Kayla
about the music therapy brochures I always saw in the lobby of the center. She explained to me
what music therapy is, and how it works. Would you like to sit in on a group session for the
experience? she had asked me. My face lit up like a child on Christmas morning. Sitting in on the
next group session was one of the most amazing experiences I ve ever had. I experienced the change
it sparks in the children; they get a chance to let out their feelings through music, whether it be
through singing or playing instruments. It was in those moments that I realized that being a
musician, music is the most important part of my life. Psychology fascinates me; the idea of
learning the way mental illness and IDDs affect the brain and the person captivates my interest. I

Should Shale Gas Controversy
Shale gas controversy has been ongoing in New Brunswick for a number of years now, when the

in the region, there was an upsurge by the residents. Fracking is a form of natural gas extraction,
where millions of gallons of pressurized and chemical treated water are pumped into shale to
extract gases embedded in the deposits. Most of the residents of Richibuto New Brunswick are
arguing that, although economic growth is important, it should not be at the detriment of the
environment. However, the government and some residents are of the opinion that, because the
province is poor, prioritizing economic growth over environmental concern is paramount. If
fracking is allowed in the province, it will create more jobs, attract private investors Another

NAS is the largest operator of corporate jets in the Middle East and has already placed significant

EasyJet said that NAS had applied for a licence to operate domestic scheduled flights initially in
Saudi Arabia and later in the Gulf region, where to date low cost carriers had only had a minimal
presence. The domestic market remains highly regulated and is dominated by the state owned
Saudi Arabian Airlines.
The small number of low cost airline start ups in the Middle East include Air Arabia, based in
Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait s Jazeera Airways.
EasyJet said that it was not planning to invest any equity or cash in the Saudi venture. It would
only go ahead with such a move, if it delivered significant shareholder value. A deal also depended
on the progress made by NAS in its application for an operating licence.
A decision on the deal was unlikely to be made before early 2007.

spokesman. The group would need to assess the potential risk to its brandname including safety and
security risks.

To Kill A Mockingbird Hypocrisy Analysis
JosГ© Emilio Pacheco says We are all hypocrites. We cannot see ourselves or judge ourselves the
way we see and judge others. Hypocrisy is demonstrated and observed on an everyday basis in our
society, and even in the rural town of Maycomb in the 1930s it is evident as well. In To Kill a
Mockingbird, two children by the names of Scout and Jem start to see hypocrisymore and more
frequently because of the events that happen to unfold. This includes , including an african
american young man accused of something he did not do. This amazing novel by Harper Lee
shows that hypocrisy is closely linked to privilege, and a dominating opinion about others. The
characters Miss Gates and Mrs. Merriweather are great examples of hypocrisy and Atticus is a
great counterexample, showing an effort of being larger than others in Maycomb. Miss Gates
demonstrates hypocrisy in the novel. It is shown when she is speaking to Scout s class. She is
teaching about Hitler, speaking about how he does not treat everybody equally. She expresses
her beliefs against prejudice and the persecution of those who aren t like her. This is hypocritical
because she does not treat everybody equally in her own town, and yet she is teaching the
opposite of her actions. Miss Gates says, Over here we don t believe in persecuting anybody.
Persecution comes from people who are prejudice. (Lee 281) This shows what Miss Gates is
teaching to her students and it makes Scout confused because she knows that Miss Gates is

Psychedelic art was just about everybody s obsession in the 1960 s because of its unorthodox style
and artists that were a part of it. Throughout the 1960 s there were many fads and trends, but one of

you to imagine your way into a state of consciousness that may not be your normal state, so you

Another reason that psychedelic art was so popular in the 60 s was because all of the art pieces,

Similarities Between Captain America And Beowulf
When someone thinks of a superhero, they think of someone that is strong and immortal. Someone
that can t be defeated yet, they go into battle with as much bravery as someone that goes into battle
knowing they CAN be defeated. Every superhero has traits that make them great, but they also
differ in many things as well. Although Captain Americaand Beowulf are similar in their
weaknesses, strengths, and bravery, they also differ in their motivations, character traits, and
heroics, making Captain America the better hero. All superheroes have weaknesses. Whether it s
physically or mentally, they all have weaknesses that they struggle with that try to prevent them
from being the best that they can be. Captain America and Beowulf share a similar weakness of
the ability to get mortally wounded, due to the fact that they are both regular human beings. The
advantage of Captain America though is that, due to the soldier serum, Captain America s age is
slowed down (Frost). This is so important because this was a major factor in why Beowulf died.
Because Beowulf was growing old, he wasn t as strong as he used to be. Therefore he wasn t
strong enough to fight the dragon (Beowulf 800 805). Unlike Beowulf, Captain America s slow
aging advantage will allow him to have strength and abilities that will allow him to fight for a long
time. Just as superheroes have weaknesses, they all have strengths too. Although it is said that

Chemical elements can cause harmful effects on human health due to the use of plants that are

Elevated pH values can affect the lack of accessible forms of specific nutritious elements. The
value of pH has a decisive influence on the dynamics of all the elements in the soil, especially
micro elements and heavy metals. In the acidic environment the solubility of metals increases, they

adoption of these elements by plants. The increase in soil acidity reduces the amount of plant

Alternate Outcome At Fort Ticonderoga
Alternate outcome at Fort Ticonderoga
In order to come to an alternative outcome, one must first address the instructional letter sent from
General Gage to General Carleton after the battles at Lexington and Concord. The letter took far too
long to get to General Carleton. General Gage had credible human intelligence suggesting that the
colonists wanted to take Fort Ticonderoga. While one understands that one must use the chain of
command, one would think the immediacy of the letter was far more important and should have
gone directly to Fort Ticonderoga, instead of the 10 day long ride to Montreal. And even if that
was not proper protocol, General Gage could have at least sent an advisor with knowledge of
surveillance techniques to Fort Ticonderoga to aid in their post and give better forewarning of a
potential attack.
Secondly, had the British force at Fort Ticonderoga had cavalry scouts assigned to it, there would
not have been much of an American Revolution. The cavalry scouts would have picked up the trail
of Colonels Allen, Arnold, and the Green Mountain Boys. The Scouts could have performed
reconnaissance and then reported back to the garrison commander, putting the whole fort on guard.
Then the garrison commander could have contacted both the British sloop in Lake Champlain and
the garrison at Fort Crown Point for further aid and reinforcements, beating back the patriot
attacking force.
Thirdly, with more troops at the fort, the British could have afforded a couple

  • 2. Flashbulb Memories On the other hand, Sharot et al carried out a study that supported this theory in 2007. The aim was to determine the role of biological factors on flashbulb memories three years after the 911 attacks. It included 24 participants who were in New York City on that day. Their brain activity was observed using functional magnetic resonance imaging as they recalled the event, as well as other distinct, autobiographical events from the summer of 2001. The latter served as baseline memories for evaluating the nature of 9/11 memories. • 3. 28th Amendment Benefits The proposal of the twenty eighth amendment is that no Supreme Court justice shall serve any more than 18 full years as a judge on the Supreme Court. A term of 18 years is suggested most often because this length would allow presidents to appoint one member every two years (or two every term, which is approximately the historical average) but would not allow them, even if elected to two terms, to appoint a majority of the court. The constitution does not clearly specify any limit to the number of Supreme Court justices nor the length of their terms. In this proposal for the 28th amendment, not only gives term limits, but also sets a mental competency exam for every fifth year and proposes vetting every second year. The founding fathers did... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most common thought about lifetime tenure is that the Founding Fathers wanted to protect the Justices from political pressure. Justices spend so many years on the court that they are not easily influenced by the current political culture, therefore some argue that term limits are not necessary. Taken together, the evidence does not support the argument that, measured either by age or length of service, lifetime tenure on the Supreme Court needs to be modified or abolished. Doubtless there are examples of justices who time their departures in just such a fashion, but statistical assessments that sort out the relative impact of the factors that might lead a justice to retire suggest that the justices have retired principally because of ill health and the availability of pension benefits. If this quote were true, Chief Justice John Rehnquist, when diagnosed with thyroid cancer and Justice Ginsburg, undergoing surgery for colon cancer, would have most probably retired for these health reasons. ... the Court is a group consisting almost entirely of senior citizens, several of whom have battled serious health problems. Compounding these concerns is the fact that the responsibility for determining when a member of the Court may no longer be fully fit for the job is left to the discretion of the individual justice, who obviously may not be in the best position to render an objective judgment about his or her ... The challenge is to assess and implement an incentive system that motivates employees to act in support of strategic and operational objectives. But how does an operational manager or executive know when they have the right rewards and recognition program, or if the one they have implemented is still having the desired effect? In addition to measuring progress of employee performance toward corporate goals, well defined performance measurement systems help gauge employee reception, understanding and buy in for reward systems. The control group was asked to relax as they wished, whereas the power pose group viewed images of different poses of which to imitate from. Experimental subjects copied 2 different power poses while holding the pose for 1 minute each. All participants rated questions regarding feeling frustrated about performance, how likely they are to feel self conscious. Opposite to the current hypothesis, results showed that power pose condition showed similar amounts of self esteem as the no pose condition group did. Results indicate more investigation into power poses and their effects. Orwell s Totalitarian World of 1984 is America in 2004 Orwell s allegorical critique of Stalinism in 1984 is often used in capitalist nations as a poignant literary attack on Communism and other collectivist economic and political systems. The argument often follows the lines of This is socialism, and as you can see, it doesn t work and just leads to oppression. We re in a nice capitalist democracy, therefore we are better off. It has reached the point where the powerful have set America into a perpetual state of doublethink, where our leaders say one thing but mean the other. To find examples of this doublethink, one needs only to look at the works of linguistics pioneer Noam Chomsky. For the last few decades, Chomsky has focused his work on the connections between language and politics. In his latest book, Profit Over People, Chomsky is forced to differentiate between democracy (as we think it is) and really existing democratic theory (the counter democratic system that actually exists). Most of the nations of Latin America and Southeast Asia are currently running under the really existing democratic theory pushed on them by the USA, a system where real democracy is only allowed if it serves the business interests of America. When the ignition switch is placed in the start position, the solenoid windings are energized and the resulting shift lever movement causes the drive pinion gear to engage the flywheel ring gear, and cranking takes place. At this time, a return spring causes the pinion gear to disengage from the flywheel. The spark plug wire carries 20,000 or more volts from the distributor cap to the spark plug. Spark plug wires are made of various layers of materials. The fiber core, inside the spark plug wire carries the high voltage. In his novel, The Stranger by Albert Camus, translated by Matthew Ward, irony within the protagonist s ( Meursault ) contrasting perception of the human condition is used to illustrate and invoke the reader to question the contradictory nature of societal expectations. His indifferent and unprecedented reactions to experiences relative to the characters that Camus laid before him aid in displaying the absurdity of a world constrained by the chains of conventional wisdom. The contrasting nature of Meursault s demeanor in defying conventional wisdom in experiences such as love and death not only reveals the underlying hypocrisy of the humancondition but further illustrates the arbitrary essence of defining a human life. Irony in part one establishes Meursault s confliction with society as he is seemingly unaffected and ultimately indifferent over an occurrence that universal sentiments would perceive as utterly devastating. When Meursault is faced with the death of his mother in the genesis of the novel, he remarks, Maman died today. Or yesterday maybe, I don t know (Camus 1). The immense indifference of Meursault s morality when it comes to the death of a human being, let alone his own mother, allows readers to draw a contrasting line from the very first sentence of Meursault s moral behavior relative to what society would deem as acceptable . The Human body is but a foundry sundry? of systems and preconditioned thinking that is lead through cause and effect. He also states that the instantiation of a computer program can be done by a human but the program would still lack the relevant intentionality. Searle also states that, any mechanism capable of producing intentionality must have casual powers equal to those of the brain. I talked about my week at school, my family life, and my mental health, amongst other things. My therapist, Kayla, asked me questions that included How have you been feeling this past week? and Did you deal with anything difficult this week? These therapy sessions were very routine and extremely monotonous. I never really knew what I had wanted to become when I graduated college; I didn t even know what I wanted to major in. That thought changed, about a year into attending therapy. I expressed my interests to Kayla about the music therapy brochures I always saw in the lobby of the center. She explained to me what music therapy is, and how it works. Would you like to sit in on a group session for the experience? she had asked me. My face lit up like a child on Christmas morning. Sitting in on the next group session was one of the most amazing experiences I ve ever had. I experienced the change it sparks in the children; they get a chance to let out their feelings through music, whether it be through singing or playing instruments. It was in those moments that I realized that being a musician, music is the most important part of my life. Psychology fascinates me; the idea of learning the way mental illness and IDDs affect the brain and the person captivates my interest. I am able to play multiple instruments, but I am also able to use my voice to express my feelings, and I want to share those things with the people who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We brought up our loads of clothing and then went down to the beach on Mirror lake. There was boundaries on the beach of where you could go. The boundaries were marked with a rope and buoys. We had not known about those boundaries, so we crossed them. Each time we crossed them we would get yelled and whistled at. We saw a rock that was underwater. We really wanted to go explore it, so we ended up being complete rebels. • 34. To Kill A Mockingbird Hypocrisy Analysis JosГ© Emilio Pacheco says We are all hypocrites. We cannot see ourselves or judge ourselves the way we see and judge others. Hypocrisy is demonstrated and observed on an everyday basis in our society, and even in the rural town of Maycomb in the 1930s it is evident as well. In To Kill a Mockingbird, two children by the names of Scout and Jem start to see hypocrisymore and more frequently because of the events that happen to unfold. This includes , including an african american young man accused of something he did not do. This amazing novel by Harper Lee shows that hypocrisy is closely linked to privilege, and a dominating opinion about others. The characters Miss Gates and Mrs. Merriweather are great examples of hypocrisy and Atticus is a great counterexample, showing an effort of being larger than others in Maycomb. Miss Gates demonstrates hypocrisy in the novel. It is shown when she is speaking to Scout s class. She is teaching about Hitler, speaking about how he does not treat everybody equally. She expresses her beliefs against prejudice and the persecution of those who aren t like her. This is hypocritical because she does not treat everybody equally in her own town, and yet she is teaching the opposite of her actions. Miss Gates says, Over here we don t believe in persecuting anybody. Persecution comes from people who are prejudice. Someone that can t be defeated yet, they go into battle with as much bravery as someone that goes into battle knowing they CAN be defeated. Every superhero has traits that make them great, but they also differ in many things as well. Although Captain Americaand Beowulf are similar in their weaknesses, strengths, and bravery, they also differ in their motivations, character traits, and heroics, making Captain America the better hero. All superheroes have weaknesses. Whether it s physically or mentally, they all have weaknesses that they struggle with that try to prevent them from being the best that they can be. Captain America and Beowulf share a similar weakness of the ability to get mortally wounded, due to the fact that they are both regular human beings. The advantage of Captain America though is that, due to the soldier serum, Captain America s age is slowed down (Frost). This is so important because this was a major factor in why Beowulf died. Because Beowulf was growing old, he wasn t as strong as he used to be. Therefore he wasn t strong enough to fight the dragon (Beowulf 800 805). Elevated pH values can affect the lack of accessible forms of specific nutritious elements. The value of pH has a decisive influence on the dynamics of all the elements in the soil, especially micro elements and heavy metals. In the acidic environment the solubility of metals increases, they cross to the solution of the soil from which the plant adopted them, which can lead to greater adoption of these elements by plants. • 41. Alternate Outcome At Fort Ticonderoga Alternate outcome at Fort Ticonderoga In order to come to an alternative outcome, one must first address the instructional letter sent from General Gage to General Carleton after the battles at Lexington and Concord. The letter took far too long to get to General Carleton. General Gage had credible human intelligence suggesting that the colonists wanted to take Fort Ticonderoga. While one understands that one must use the chain of command, one would think the immediacy of the letter was far more important and should have gone directly to Fort Ticonderoga, instead of the 10 day long ride to Montreal. And even if that was not proper protocol, General Gage could have at least sent an advisor with knowledge of surveillance techniques to Fort Ticonderoga to aid in their post and give better forewarning of a potential attack. Secondly, had the British force at Fort Ticonderoga had cavalry scouts assigned to it, there would not have been much of an American Revolution. The cavalry scouts would have picked up the trail of Colonels Allen, Arnold, and the Green Mountain Boys. The Scouts could have performed reconnaissance and then reported back to the garrison commander, putting the whole fort on guard. Then the garrison commander could have contacted both the British sloop in Lake Champlain and the garrison at Fort Crown Point for further aid and reinforcements, beating back the patriot attacking force. Thirdly, with more troops at the fort, the British could have afforded a couple ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
