Technological Advancements During The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution had become an influential event that has occurred during the early
eighteenth century and continued throughout the civil war. All of the new inventions created has
helped many individuals be able to complete their jobs more efficiently. The advance equipment lead
the factories to produce more products in a quicker timespan. This factor brought a large amount of
goods to the people at a faster rate. Therefore, all of the technological advancements and innovations
affected many aspects of American lives. The effects of industrialization in the United States impacted

Japanese Business Norms And Customs, Culture, And...
As one may know, cultural aspects differ between a myriad of countries. In particular, Japan is a
traditional yet historical society that is worlds apart from the familiar United States. Specifically,
Geert Hofstede and Edward T. Hall conducted a study based on cultural influences in relation to the
workplace as well as characteristics of a high context society. However, it is vital to recognize Japan s
business norms and customs, culture, and etiquette before one s journey begins.
Japanese Business Norms and Customs:
Geert Hofstede studied that Japanese business culture has much influence from the power distance

If one needs to schedule an appointment, it is important to give several weeks notice by

Create quality business cards. They are exchanged very frequently within the business culture. When
received, one must study and read the card thoroughly.
Japanese Culture:
Culture in Japan is so pristine that it cannot be compared to American society. Most of the Japanese
practice one of two religions, Shinto and Buddhist, whereas in the United States, hundreds of religions
are practiced. The linguistic aspect of Japan is spoken so beautifully that rarely does one hear the
language being broken. There are several values within Japanese culture, yet harmony is their main
fortune. This thinking has guided all civilization to work as one instead of focusing on a single
individual. The Japanese are aware of the age and status on fellow citizens to show respect. It is
believed that everyone must value those who are older with a higher status.
Japanese Etiquette:
The Japanese are known for being extremely polite and refined. If one is not familiar with Japanese
foreign etiquette, one could reflect as being offensive. When meeting a Japanese civilian, most would

Smart cards and its role in securing user identification
Abstract
Smart cards have been use by so many people around the world the smart card contain a small chip
called as a microcontroller. People started to develop smart cards in 1970s by a japan Dr. and by two
inventers from Germany. Using smart cards will make everyone life more easy on the financial side,
since it gives the ability to not use papers you only need to be authorized to carry the card and do the
transaction electrical. The information that is between the cardholder and the organization is always
secure. When they manufacture the smart cards they build it to be secure they add encryption codes,
authentication people only can have the cards and also when the card communicate with the system it
will do that in secure path to protect it from attackers.
Introduction
What is smart card?
A card that has an embedded chip that always set the smart card codes or token secure. The size of any
smart card is similar to the size of driving license and it can be made of plastic or even metal. There
are two ways to connect or link the smart card with the reader either through straight physical
communication, which recognized as chip and dip and the other way of connecting is by using the
short range wireless connectivity well known as NFC (near field communication) (Michael Cobb,
2010) NFC is supported by ISO an international organization and to make the

The Social Marketing Aspects Of Twitter
Research Project 1: Comparing Brand Project This literature review will mainly discuss some
literatures that address on the social marketing aspects of Twitter. With the growing accessibility of the
internet, social media does not only change the dynamics of sustaining human relationships (O Brien,
2011), but enables consumers to establish a social community within a brand. Businesses center their
marketing strategy on social media branding because active engagement implies the domino effects
following the robust electronic word of mouth (eWOM). Barton (2006) defines eWOM as a statement
made by potential customers about a brand or a product, which potentially generates interest in the
category of products and influences purchasing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Expanding beyond microblogs, the ease and openness of messages have made Twitter the best
alternative to reporting and accessing emergencies news such as earthquakes and political movements
(Muralidharan et al., 2011). More importantly, Jansen, Zhang, Sobel and Chowdhury (2009) reported
that approximately one quarter of the tweets touches on brands, among which users seek to provide
information or express opinions about the brand. Consistently, Zhang, Jansen Chowdhury (2011)
indicated that Twitter provides a rich plethora of resources for companies to grasps consumers taste,
trends and promote campaigns through engaging in the eWOM communication process. As shown,
social media platforms become an essential channel for brands to gather audiences and heighten brand
awareness, but no studies have analysed the well established Twitter community of big brands as a
good reference. It is worthy examining how the biggest brands such as McDonalds and KFC
manipulate their tweets on Twitter and uncover the type of messages that both food giants deliver.
There has been a mixture of views among researchers regarding the success measurements of social
marketing (Baumgartner, 2014). The importance of maximising tweets in social branding is
emphasized in Keller (2007) s study. Regardless of the nature of the tweet material, Keller argues that
the more frequent a brand tweets, the more probably it will attend to specific customers. While

Social Media s Impact On Emotional Health
People are social creates. We thrive in a world of relationships. This is why social support and
emotional health are correlated. Support is a very large part of people s lives. However is our society
today fit for social support? Social media has taken our sociality to a new level of connection. In some
way we are closer than we ever been but in other ways we have lost that social support. This can affect
the emotional health of people it great ways. First is the biggest impact that social media has and that
is on teens and how they get their social support from twitter and snap chat rather than going to
someone face to face. Another way social media can impact emotional health is through online

media and suicide it states that: The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline Facebook page had more
than 29 300 fans as of November 2011, and the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention Facebook

Now to these Facebook pages don t just have fans but have on their pages have suicide prevention

faces of people around them. Yet this should not be the end all and be all. Social media has a benefit to
it and that is online support groups. Online support groups are a great way for people who don t have

The Debate on Abortion Laws in the United States
There are always a number of heated debates within the United States. These debates area always a
hot topic and very controversial issues. Due to how controversial they are is why they become such
largely debated topics with many people having very different views on the specific topic. For
example there is a Democratic and Republican party in the United States people either stick with one
side or the other due to their beliefs and sometimes can be neutral or on the other party s side for
certain topics. Abortion is a very controversial topic as it always has been all around the country but
more specifically in the United States. There are two sides to the debate those who believe abortion
should be legal and their organization is known as prochoice. On the other side there are the group of
people who believe that abortion should not be legal and reverse the laws from what they are today
this organization is known as prolife. It seems as though both of the organizations are very extreme
while there can be some people who a neutral and believe in some ideas from the prochoice yet they
also agree with some of the ideas from prolife. The two sides to the debate on abortion are known as
pro choice and pro life although this topic is very controversial, today there is also a history of
abortion laws and a very important case known as Roe vs. Wade which played a huge role in
determining what laws on abortion are in the present. Additionally, the case of Roe vs. Wade was a

Theme Of Cruelty Towards Children In The Poem The Chimney...
In the poem Holy Thursday songs of experience and in the poem The Chimney Sweeper , William
Blake makes use of various literary techniques to portray the theme of cruelty towards children. The
poem Holy Thursday refers to the wretched condition of children in charity schools. The poem The
Chimney Sweeper refers to the poor children who were used as slaves in England. My aim for this
essay is to explore how William Blake made use of various literary techniques to portray the theme of
cruelty towards children in the two poems.
The title Holy Thursday alludes to joy and purity. Yet this poem highlights the cruelty towards
children in charity schools. Blake makes use of this contrast to emphasize on the subject of the poem.

Indeed the parents leave their child alone in poor and wrenched conditions to furthermore pray for the
well being of their family. This irony portrays the cruelty towards children in the poem.
The poet effectively makes use of different metaphors to portray cruelty towards children in the poem.
Clothes of death is a metaphor for the chimney sweepers uniform. The boy feels the injustice that he
has to sweep chimneys as a child. The noun death might allude to the harsh working conditions that
the child has to face. The latter hence might describe his work as a deadly task. This metaphor hence,
greatly contribute to the portrayal of children ill treatment in this poem.
The metaphor sing the notes of woe describe the child s despair as he begs lamentably the people
passing by to offer him a job that he hates. The noun woe moreover highlights the desperate state of
mind of the child and furthermore portray the frustration of the child as he is cruelly dominated by his
parents. Finally the metaphor make up a heaven of our misery might be a mouthpiece of Blake as he
accuses the Charity schools, the other social institutions and the society to treat children as

Civil War Music
Civil War Music Music was a vital part of the war. The Civil War had also been referred to America s
great musical war. There was a rank for musicians. They played at recruitment rallies and kept up the
troops morale. Their main job was to relay orders from higher ranking officers. The branches of the
military determined which instrument made the calls. The drummer boys, fife players, buglers and the
songs that they performed played a significant part in the war. Drummer boys enlisted to serve in the
infantry. These boys were usually eighteen years old, but younger boys sometimes faked their age to
enlist. They learned to relay orders to help soldiers during battle by sounding a call, which is a short
tune with an assigned job or order. They had to go through meticulous training because they had to
make the correct calls. With the battlefields covered in gun smoke, the soldiers relied on the drummer
boys to sound the orders. If their calls were incorrect, they could confuse the soldiers or even give
them the wrong orders. In addition to this, drummer boys had to make calls in camp. Some of the
common calls were morning roll call, sick call, guard duty and taps. Being a drummer boy was only
one of the different types of musicians that had these responsibilities. Musicians that play fife,
commonly called fifers, marched alongside drums in battles. A fife is like a piccolo. It is also similar
to a flute, but it has a much higher range. The fife was useful

Rheumatoid Arthritis Research Papers
here are many types of Arthritis such as Osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, and Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Arthritis is when there is inflammation of one or more of your joints. The main symptoms of arthritis
are joint pain and stiffness, which typically worsen with age. Treatments for these types of Arthritis
may consist of; Physical exercises, medications or even therapy. This paper examines what
Occupational Therapist do to treat Arthritis specifically Rheumatoid Arthritis.
What is Rheumatoid arthritis?
Rheumatoid arthritis is a disease where the body s immune system attacks the joints and other healthy
cells. This creates inflammation inside of the joints, which then causes swelling and pain in and
around the joints. If inflammation goes unchecked, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This surprised me because when you think of the immune system you think of your body fighting off
the bad cells not the good ones, this brought up the question how does the body mistakenly do that?
Another thing I found surprising while doing research is that if its not treated quickly it can cause joint
problems, an example I gave in my paper was the Boutonniere deformity which is in the hands and it
just sounds and looks painful. Occupational therapists have a lot of different approaches to help
patients with Arthritis but they all have a common goal of making the client comfortable and able to
go back to tasks of daily living. This is important because not all treatment techniques will be effective
to the client and depending on where the arthritis is you can adjust.
Conclusion
Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease, if its not treated quickly can lead to a loss of joints
function or even joint deformities. There are many different medicines to treat arthritis, but with the
help of an occupational therapist they can introduce new ways to do tasks as well as give a client tools
to use in a kitchen, bathroom or while dressing to make things easier for the client and making things
easier on the

Jardim Gramacho Essay
The upper class society of Brazil gives Jardim Gramacho a bad name, one that Muniz disputes,
emphasizing it as a place for the lower class. Jardim Gramacho is seen as a place for people of low
quality and for the those who have nothing to lose or left to give, but by Muniz using the garbage and
other materials found around Jardim Gramacho, he displays how beautiful this wasteland is and how
important the people who live there are. When talking to his wife Muniz says, Check out the
geography of this thing. This is the end of the line, this is where everything that is not good goes.
Including the people. (Wasteland) By saying this Muniz is implying that living in Jardim Gramacho is
depicted as a negative place and people that are not fortunate to have money or have nothing left to
live for are condemned to living there and are seen by the outside society as bad or worthless lives.
The reason fom Muniz creating his sculptures out of the garbage from Jardim Gramacho is to show
that there is something beautiful within the garbage which is the people. For example, one of the
sculptures Muniz creates is of a man named Zumbi. The sculpture shows Zumbi smiling throwing
grain out of one of the bag that the packers carry around. In the documentary Zumbi says, Before

The Negative Consequences Of Technology For Children
Often iPads, tablets, and smartphones are thought of the world s greatest advancement. Who, in the
1980s, would have thought that they would be able to carry their phones out of their houses and use a
hand held rectangular device in which not only can make calls, but also be operated as GPS,
calculators, games and infinite amounts of different features. Of course, like everything in the world,
exploiting the use will result in negative outcomes. Parents are utilizing technology as a form of
disciplining their kids in which is only leading to isolation. Instead, parents should wait until children
are better prepared to be given such responsibility. Phones, iPads, tablets, iPods, laptops, computers all
facilitate everyday life. Computers become a necessity in a couple of jobs; keeping files, research,
reminders, etc. Multiple, effective applications of such technology can be set in place, however, that is
not what is being done. Parents are giving children such elaborate devices for absolutely the most
unreasonable intentions. Kids merely entertain themselves for far too long, which transforms into
isolation. Unknowingly growing separated from educational value, friends, and family. For future
generations only disaster emerges, but there is still a way that this can be retained from happening and
involvement of parental help is required. As technology grows, children s ability to learn shrinks.
Before toddlers can even say the word mom , parents are already handing them

What Does Betrayal Mean To You Essay
To someone I loved,
There was a point in time when I was hurt. It was emotional so there weren t any physical marks for

Metaphorically speaking, of course. My guard was put down, and I was hit. The cannonball struck me
in the area where many before me had been hurt: my heart. Now I was in disbelief because I couldn t

I thought was close to me, someone who I thought wouldn t crush my heart the way it was shattered.
That person was you.
You didn t directly hurt me though. This time it was a matter of games I played in my head. At that
time, I couldn t admit I has fallen in love with you. I was putting an unnecessary weight on my
shoulders. Luckily, that weight didn t kill me. That weight weakened me for sure, but I wasn t dead

Instead, I chose to take the more difficult path. That path sent me to sleep every night with a pounding

The Pros And Cons Of STEM Education
Science, technology, engineering, and math have become unavoidable subjects in the modern world.
Even in jobs that are not directly under one of these categories, fundamental understanding of these
concepts have become mandatory in the workplace. However, these concepts are not being well taught
to students in primary and secondary schools either because the concepts are not covered or they are
not taught with proper teaching methods. This causes even more problems when the students go to
college because they will not have a solid understanding of the concepts. By incorporating more
involved activities in the STEM education process such as hands on laboratories and by removing
adverse teaching methods, students will better understand the STEM concepts which will carry over to
college and eventually their careers.
In a world that is ever evolving, science, technology, engineering, and math has become ever more
important in the job market. In the U.S. market, nine out of the ten fastest growing jobs require STEM
knowledge (Jones 2). STEM education is required to have employees understand how to innovate and
improve in the modern business climate. Only 33% of students going into college have the necessary
education to understand the STEM concepts. Without a proper foundation, students will not be able to
achieve at college when they are forced to expand upon knowledge they don t even have. Much like a

Why Icu Nurses Perform Quality Ets As Spelled By Best...
Synopsis:
What was the purpose of the study (research question, purposes, hypotheses)?
The research article being analyzed pertains to the methods of suctioning of an open system
endotracheal tube in ICU patients. The study was aimed to examine the techniques and practices that
ICU Nurses employ at bedside before, during and after suctioning of the open endotracheal system to
compare if it is in compliance with current recommended practices and procedures. The research
question is Do ICU nurses perform quality ETS as spelled by best recommended practice?
The study was conducted for many reasons. First, in order to achieve optimal outcomes for the patient,
the most current research based practice must be employed as improper techniques can have
detrimental results to the patient in terms of inadequate oxygenation, injury to pulmonary tissues,
infections and increased anxiety to the patient. The second reason is to identify if ICU Nurses are in
compliance to the practice recommendations based on current research knowledge, and if not, to
implement actions to rectify deficiencies. The hypotheses statement is that ICU nurse s ETS
performance does not adhere to the best practice recommendation for ETS. The null hypothesis is that
ICU nurses adheres to ETS best practice recommendation standards when suctioning patients.
How was the sample obtained? The sampling of the observed subjects was obtained through the
sampling design of Quota Sampling. According to Polit and

Coinciding with the growth of the internet, citizen journalism has generated popularity over the years
and is no longer considered niche. Modernly armed with smartphones and social media outlets, the
general public are often able to record and publish material long before a journalist has even caught

A more complex and positive definition of citizen journalism by Courtney C. Radsch, suggests public
journalism is an activist form of newsgathering that could be an alternative to mainstream media.
Citizen journalism is reporting that functions outside mainstream media institutions, often as a
response to shortcoming in the professional journalistic field, that uses similar journalistic practices
but is driven by different objectives and ideals and relies on alternative sources of legitimacy than
traditional or mainstream journalism. (Jljtan005.blogspot.co.uk, 2014) In the view of Radsch then,
citizen journalists, without the constraints of working for a commercially driven outlet, are able to
make up for shortcomings present in traditional media and are able to offer news that previously
wouldn t have existed.
The growing online communities of citizen journalists might make the medium seem like a modern
phenomenon however as suggested by Heidi Cohen (2011) in her article, How Social Media Helps
Old Media, the concept of citizen journalism can be traced back to the 13th century when town criers
or bellmen made public announcements of news. In a medieval Britain, a large percentage of the
population could neither read nor write and so were informed of goings on by a town crier. This free

Batman Masculinity
The way our society views what it means to be a man is shaped by family, community, and popular
culture. While the narrow definition of acceptable masculinity has expanded in the last three decades,
there is still a great amount of anxiety and pressure over being the right kind of man. Like many of my
generation, gender performance and masculinity were formed by reading and watching superhero
narratives as a youth. What were the deeper messages in those stories that engrossed our weekends
and evening hours and what do they say about us as a society?
A perfect microcosm of how gender is treated in the genre was the way Batman and The Joker in
graphic novels were reshaped by changing demands of masculinity. In the 1980 s two graphic ... Show

battlefield. But how can honor command such incentive? The answer stems from individualistic pride.
The characters in Henry V see how, as a collective, society has objectively agreed that service to one s
country merits honor, but each character, as an individual, chooses to strive towards that honor
because of his or her own pride. This notion of individualistic pride both consciously and
subconsciously drives daily action. And in Henry V, the insidious intent of pride eclipses the known
vicious nature of war. The motivation for King Henry to wage war on France, the subsequent response
of France s leadership, and the action of the English countrymen emanates from the notion of honor,
but how each individual responds to the desire to fulfill his pride ultimately shapes the field of
Agincourt (4.7.86). Henry V illustrates how honor and pride craft the nature of war. King Henry s
yearning for honor and the challenges to his pride that he receives from his wild younger days
instigates him to pursue war with France. He understands the magnitude of war, even probing the
archbishop of Canterbury s argument to challenge the Salic law: For God doth know how many now

Debra Marquart s The Horizontal World
Debra Marquart grew up in North Dakota which is in a region that is labeled as being lackluster. In her
memoir, The Horizontal World, Marquart characterizes the upper Midwest as a place that has some
unique characteristics, contrary to what most people think. She uses allusions and an anecdote to
demonstrate how the Midwest, apart from appearing dull, has some redeeming qualities and how it is
a special place in the eyes of people who were seeking opportunities for a new beginning. The
Midwest has a juxtaposed characterization because some people draw from it for inspiration, while
others stereotype it as an area that has nothing to offer. Marquart alludes to people, like Edwin James,
who stated that it was, a dreary plain, wholly unfit for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She includes this story at the end to give her own characterization after introducing all these
characteristics that other people saw within the Midwest. Her anecdote makes this description more
personal since she explains how it goes back to her great grandparents being there. By saying how
they traveled and ended up in Eureka, North Dakota. Eureka from the Greek word heureka, meaning I
have found it creates feeling that she is proud of this area and that it has a special meaning for her
family. Her grandparents were immigrants from Russia so, this new territory that others may see as
plain and ordinary was a place that promised a new life. It held the opportunity of starting over from
the beginning and developing a better life for themselves and their family to come. Marquart s
grandparents waited with anticipation because to them it was the greatest thing ever. By using the
word eureka Marquart exudes a sense of pride in the Midwest because she knows how it influenced
the life of many people who didn t care that it was lonely, treeless, and devoid of rises. This adds to
Marquart s characterization because it adds a meaning of renewal and renovation. The personal story
shows the reader how the Midwest was a place that allowed people to live their life and move forward
in the world. It creates a different meaning for the Midwest because it is not only being characterized
by its physicality but by what it represented for people in the late nineteenth

The Honorable Draco Malfoy
The Honorable Draco Malfoy was among the most cunning of those Slytherins who circumvented an
undesirable prison stay in Azkaban after the Second Great Wizarding War. He had always intended to
come out on the winning side, though his family had held fast to the Dark Lord until it was almost too
late.
It was his mother, and not his father, who was responsible for their Machiavellian change of allegiance
during the final battle. All they had done was wiped clean when Lady Malfoy had courageously saved
the life of the Harry Potter, savior of the Wizarding World, during a pivotal moment of the final battle.
Draco was grateful she had shown such great cunning; however, his mother had lost all sense when it
came to seeing her only child married. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having just dealt with his own wife, Lord Malfoy observed that his son may have chosen wisely to
move out of the manor.
Good morning Father, what brings you here?
Ignoring his son for the moment, Lord Malfoy s wandering gaze fell upon the Tantalus set against the
opposite wall. He immediately went to the traveling room s ornate cellarette and took out a decanter,
then poured himself a generous glass of firewhiskey.
Your mother has noticed your absence at the manor. She has prevailed upon me to convince you to
come back.
To subject myself to her matchmaking schemes, I suppose. Aye, said Lord Malfoy, at once refilling his
glass. She will soon discover where you live at some point, should you not come to visit and often. I
myself had only to ask a house elf your Floo address. The creatures are equally loyal to your mother
and will give her the same information without hesitation, should she ask.
This disturbed Draco. Perhaps getting his own flat in Diagon Alley wasn t enough. Unfortunately, he
couldn t leave Britain, so that left no location that gave any further distance between mother and son.
Unless, perhaps, he chose to take lodgings in the non magical side of

The Secret Intelligence Branch Of The Shin Bet
If there is one thing true about this documentary is the depressing, and pessimistic nature of it. The
Shin Bet, Israel s equivalent of the FBI act as the secret intelligence branch that serves to protect Israel
from behind the scenes, and Unseen Shield, if you will. The six ex leaders of the Shin Bet all portray
the recent decades of Israel s undercover militaristic organisation by retelling some of their past
actions and experiences. All six tell of their actions, that would shock us uninitiated civilians, with
surprising bluntness. One man seems like the typical gentle grandpa wearing suspenders, who is
subsequently called a bully and a monster, another younger man is very collected yet obviously
troubled by the job. And then there is also Ami the bald gaunt man who likes to quote intellectuals. All
speak about the political history of Israel and how they re work has fundamentally changed them. One
of the most important change they face is their entire strategy involving the Palestinian issue. Their
tactics need to change from simply removing extremists to diplomatic solutions. At the very beginning
of the film the man Yuval Diskin introduces the most thought provoking theme of the documentary, it
s unnatural to have the power to give the word and end a man s life in an instant. In these moments
when a person has to decide between taking the shot and killing a known terrorist and potentially
innocent lives around him, or decline and let the man go on to do some

Gallup s Argument Analysis
Most religious zealots have no doubt about who created and the source of the origin of the universe.
The same is true of the existence of the omnipotent, omniscience and omnipresent God. Although God
may not be seen or heard or touched, however; by faith, we believe of his majestic existence. His
existence as God cannot be measured in terms of Gallup surveys or scientific proofs to show
otherwise but religious thinkers according to James and Stuart Rachels have offered numerous thesis
for the for the existence of God, starting with the argument from design, with its subtitles such as the
wonders of nature; the best explanation arguments and the same evidenced argument (Rachels). In
either of the cases, the conclusions drawn were similar in the sense that the universe was created by an
intelligent designer. Foremost among the arguments is the argument from design which postulates God
s existence based on the nature of the world around us, (Rachels). It means that the wonders of nature
around us are so beautiful they must have been created by an intelligent designer. It was William
Paley, an Anglican priest and teacher at Cambridge University who crystallized it. To further affirm
his belief in the intelligent designer, Paley introduced the the best ... Show more content on

The Lady Of Shalott Poem Analysis
These are some of the chosen lines of Alfred Lord Tennyson s from his poetic work; I will start my
claim to peruse my viewpoint by above mention reference because it is relevant about the subject
matter, in addition, these are from the poem of The Lady of Shalott. Then the second thing is, it s
about mythical LANDSCAPE among Tennyson s finest achievements that symbolize states of human
consciousness; the dreamlike quality of his vision, combined with his ability to see at close range with
preternatural clarity and detail, rendered his dreams more vivid than our realities. Ultimately it will get
me to explore the THEMES of REALITY and FANTASY from his poetic diction.
First, Tennyson starts out The Lady of Shalott with a quiet description ... Show more content on

The entire poem is constructed in this way, often opting for words languid , driveth galingale
slumberous etc. that, especially when describing sleepy imagery, force the reader to slow down and
contain stresses that give the poem a form of hypnotic rhythm, relating back to sleep and escapism. In
addition to his use of phonetics and rhythm, Tennyson includes various images that make the sleep
state , and therefore the state the Lotus eaters offer, more appealing. The charmed sunset linger d low ,
like downward smoke and than tir d eyelids upon tir d eyes are all examples that possess connotations
of laziness or sleep, and therefore makes a more attractive option as opposed to the toil experienced by
the rest of the world, enhancing the desire for escape. as accomplishes this by contrasting the positive
aspects of the world of escapism with reality and its negativities.
In the end, to sum up, from the poem The Lady of Shalott Tennyson focused on two main subjects the
Lady s isolation in the tower as a fantasy and her decision to participate in the living world as reality.
If we search for the theme of Fantasy, it is everywhere all over the poem as the whole subject matter
has come from the imaginative world of Celtic

a note at the end. Boo does nothing to harm anybody just like a mockingbird, mockingbirds just make
music for people to enjoy and they don t eat people s gardens and Boo is just quiet and enjoys being

Scout went to his house they had to escape so they decided to go under the fence and Jem had got

The Rockwell Collins Satellite Transportable Terminal
The Rockwell Collins Satellite Transportable Terminal (STT) is an important satellite for the signal
branch that is used to make communications virtually anywhere. A suspension system needs to be put
into the STT so that it will not be damaged while being loaded and transported. There are three shock
systems available with different spring constants and damping coefficients. The three shock systems
are called Air Coasters, Cloud Riders, and Extreme Shocks. A HMMWV was being tested when it
began bouncing up and down, so the soldiers operating the vehicle shut it down for fear of it breaking
down. Some engineers re fired the gun so they could take measurements of its displacement from the
ground in order to understand what was happening, but they only took measurements for 60 seconds
before they shut it down.
Free Dampened System Loading the Trailer The suspension system can be modeled using the
following equation: m (d^2 x)/(dt^2 )+β dx/dt+kx=f(t) x(t) is the displacement from its rest position in
meters, m is the mass of the object in kilograms, β is the damping constant in kg/second, k is the
spring constant in kg/sec2, and f(t) is the external force in Newtons (N). The mass of the satellite is
1800 kg and the satellite is at equilibrium when the trailer is loaded. Before the trailer is loaded, the
displacement of the shocks is 0.05 meters, so the starting displacement is 0.05. The critically damped
value of each shock is calculated in Appendix A. The Air Coasters

Dagoberto Gilb Narcissism
Do you know the story of Narcissus? He was the very handsome fellow in Greek mythology who,
because of his indifference and disdain toward others, was punished by the gods by falling in love
with his own image. He was so enraptured by his beauty that he was unable to pull himself away from
his own reflection, and he wasted away and died. Narcissism is also considered a social and cultural
problem in America. It s not surprising to see a rise in narcissism in this generation given that young
people are being bombarded by these messages and sorts of commercial all day, every day through
every form of media. It is the same with Jake who is the main character in the story Love in L.A by
Dagoberto Gilb. In the story, Jake is consumed with himself and with gaining more pleasure for
himself. He wants much more than he has, and he wants it for him to be appraised by many women
and finally fell in love with him. He clearly sees himself as a ladies man and uses every opportunity to
COLLECT them. He thinks that having all the luxurious things will make him feel like invincible, like

Introduction In order for end users to carry out calculations and produce reports in a user friendly
method, an excel spreadsheet has been created. This report explains how this spreadsheet is created,
how the spreadsheet works and also the benefits of this spreadsheet. 1 Business Issues As instructed
by AID an information system is needed to assist staff to carry out calculations and produce reports.
However, there were some issues to be considered during planning. Issues to be considered include
cost to build the school, advertising cost, government support and loans. 1.1 Cost Cost is a factor as
different schools built in different countries incur different cost; this also includes the cost for the

to compute and obtain the total cost to be incurred for every planned project; this will help AID with
their financial planning and provide clear and detailed cost information for more efficient budgeting of
cost. In addition, this system will reduce the time spent by project team on calculating the cost of the
project manually and at the same time ensure data accuracy as the computations are perform
automatically by the system thus reducing human computation error. With the system implemented,
only the project supervisor is required to input the data into the system, as

The Human Rights Act 1998 Essay
Human Rights Act 1998
The Human Rights Act 1998 sets out the rights and freedoms of every citizen in the United Kingdom.
The HRA has three main effects, the first one is that it incorporates set out in the European
Convention of Human Rights into British law. Therefore if someone in the UK were to breech your
Human Rights you would be able to deal with this through the British court instead of the European
Court of Human Rights in France, which is what people had to do previously if their human rights
were breeched. This means in Britain in requires everyone (schools, police, courts, local authorities
and hospitals) carrying out public functions to respect and protect their own and others human rights.
These rights are called Convention Rights.
For the Human Rights Act to work it means all public bodies have to work with government, the
public can do this by respecting the rights and the government will put the laws in place so that others
respect your human rights too. For example, everyone has the right to life and this doesn t only rely on
the government to make sure you receive this right, but it also depends on those around you not to
harm you in any way, this is why the government has put in laws to try and stop people from harming
you so that you get that basic right.

A New Paradigm On The Open Market System Essay
Introduction
In this paper, we will analyze a new paradigm that is emerging recently around the religious
institutions, the whole crux of which lies in the fact that the organized religion thrives in the open
market system. The paper is further divided into six sections: literature, theory, hypothesis, method,
findings of the study, and the discussion.
Theory and Hypothesis
The sociology of the religion has been seen to be undergoing a period of change, or a paradigm shift.
Are the American kids growing up to have a different religious inclination than the kids a generation
or two ago? Religious inclination can include acknowledgement of belonging to a certain religion,
performing religious practices, attending the religious ceremonies and services, spirituality, religious
donations and charities, and approving of religious organizations (Pargament, 1997). Although the
religious affiliation for all is an important factor to be considered, the affiliation among the
adolescents particularly takes away a significant share of importance. Religious affiliation among kids
is believed to bring about a number of positive outcomes including better physical health, less drug
abuse, better social conditioning and functioning, and fewer risk related behaviors. The kids who are
more religiously inclined are also believed to have less signs of anxiety and depression and display a
strong character (Markstorm, 1999). However, if not handled properly, religion can also drive in the
feelings

Underlying Causes of WWI Essay
In the early 1900 s, the entirety of Europe was divided into various alliances and powers, most notably
the Triple Alliance (Germany, Astro Hungarian Empire, and Italy) and the Triple Entente (France,
Russia, and the United Kingdom), which ultimately fell into a hellish firestorm of mustard gas and
trench warfare in 1914 that left 18 million dead and Europe s economies and production decimated
manyfold (DBQ Project, Various Document D). The destruction of the turn of the century nations and
Empires that slaughtered over people stems from a chronological progression of ambitious

Even in song, the Britons were as prideful as they were aggressive in colonization. Take, for example,
an excerpt of their National Anthem: When Britain first at Heaven s command / Arose from out the
azure main; / This was the charter of the land / And guardian angels sang this strain; / Rule Britannia!
Britannia, rule the waves: / Britons never will be slaves (James Thomson and Thomas Arne). The
above speaks of arrogance and superiority, by associating themselves with a higher power; they
insinuate that Britain is the Promised Land, and by the logic that there is only one Promised Land,
they underlay that everyone else is inferior. But, as much as extreme Nationalism does give a nice
sense of pride to the people, it s also very necessary to the theatre of politics and war. In a passage
from The Age of Nationalism and Reform, it is stated that, The extraordinary feeling that some people
seem to derive from the belief that they are members of a superior nation or race is undoubtedly one of
the great appeals of modern nationalism (Rich). General von Moltke of Germany intended to use
Nationalistic pride to his favor, saying, I believe war is unavoidable and the sooner the better. But we
ought to do more through the press to prepare the popularity of a war against Russia... (Mombauer).
Von Moltke wanted to prepare for war, and did so actively, but he needed the approval of the people.
So, he and Kasier Wilhelm II spent

It does not come out and say where the two main places, Hanoi and Saigon, are actually located.
Lawrence often refers to them as those names throughout his study and never puts a North or South

surrounding territories on page 12, a reader could be lost on who is who by this point in the book.
Another point that readers could get mildly confused on is when Lawrence refers to Vietnam as
different names. For example, over time, they hoped, aggressive search and destroy operations would
inflict casualties more quickly than North Vietnam and the NLF could replace their losses, thus
forcing the communists to seek peace on American terms, (Lawrence, 102). Lawrence never explained
the NLF, National Liberation Front, and what it means or whom it represents. Lawrence also used
Vietcong regularly throughout his study. For instance, Vietcong, a contraction of the term for
Vietnamese communist, Lawrence does not really explain why he calls it Vietcong throughout the
book (Lawrence, 65). Lawrence could have explained whom this term was more directly used for or
why it was used to explain these people. Lawrence s study reveals a lot about the Vietnam War and the
role of the United States in Southeast Asia from 1954 to 1975, including the Second Indochina War

Belonging Between I Am Here And I Love You Analysis
Do our relationships define who we are and the way we act around others? In this essay we will be
talking about the fears of rejection and how sometimes relationships help define who we are in reality.
Our relationships define who we are because they describe what kind of person we are and how we
act.
Fear and vulnerability are not always the problem in our lives. It brings ups and downs, for example in
the article The Real Secret To Intimacy , it talks about how people are scared to be in a relationship
because they think they are going to get rejected. A quote from the text is, Vacillating between I am

A couple years ago I had a best friend, He was always by my side and was always protecting me. As
we grew up we started getting apart from each other. Was it because we found something about each
other and didn t want to tell one another, so we decided that going our own way would be the best.
Our relationship got us together for a while we both had good things in common and that was what
made us like siblings. Now that we have grown and know things about each other we still talk because
we had that fear of rejection but we went through it and it came out to be a positive thing in our
friendship.
In Valediction there are two best friends that play football and started stealing. John ended up getting
caught and pete was called into the office. Pete was asked to confess but he said he wasn t involved.
You aren t who I thought you were , said john. This shows that they knew each other and had trust in
one another but pete ended up staying quiet and didn t say anything.
Relationships define how we act and who we truly are. Going through vulnerability is good in a
relationship because it helps one another see who we truly are and helps us gain trust. How are you in
a relationship and how do your thoughts and feelings make you feel about each

Postpartum Depression ( Ppd )
Grase Garlobo Professor N. Hammond ENC 1101 23 October 2015 Postpartum Depression (PPD) The

But it can also trigger something you did not expect depression. The depression is called postpartum

mother and the father. This is most likely to happen after giving birth or up to a year later. But it
usually occurs within the first three months after delivery. Postpartum depression doesn t actually have

All of this may play an important role in postpartum depression. If left untreated, postpartum
depression can interfere with parents child attachment and cause family problems later on in life. For
mothers, untreated postpartum depression can last for months or up to years, sometimes becoming a
chronic depressive disorder. Even when treated, postpartum depression increases a woman s risk of
future episodes of major depression. For fathers, postpartum depression can have a ripple effect,
causing emotional damage for everyone close to a new baby. According to the Mayo Clinic Staff,
When a new mother is depressed, the risk of depression in the baby s father may also increase . New
dads are already at a highly risk of depression, whether or not the mother is affected. Children of
parents who have untreated postpartum depression are most likely to have emotional and behavior
problems, such as sleeping and eating disorders, excessive crying, and attention deficit/hyperactivity

For example there is a Democratic and Republican party in the United States people either stick with one side or the other due to their beliefs and sometimes can be neutral or on the other party s side for certain topics. Abortion is a very controversial topic as it always has been all around the country but more specifically in the United States. On the other side there are the group of people who believe that abortion should not be legal and reverse the laws from what they are today this organization is known as prolife. They played at recruitment rallies and kept up the troops morale. Their main job was to relay orders from higher ranking officers. The branches of the military determined which instrument made the calls. The drummer boys, fife players, buglers and the songs that they performed played a significant part in the war. Drummer boys enlisted to serve in the infantry. These boys were usually eighteen years old, but younger boys sometimes faked their age to enlist. They learned to relay orders to help soldiers during battle by sounding a call, which is a short tune with an assigned job or order. They had to go through meticulous training because they had to make the correct calls. With the battlefields covered in gun smoke, the soldiers relied on the drummer boys to sound the orders. If their calls were incorrect, they could confuse the soldiers or even give them the wrong orders. In addition to this, drummer boys had to make calls in camp. Some of the common calls were morning roll call, sick call, guard duty and taps. Being a drummer boy was only one of the different types of musicians that had these responsibilities. Musicians that play fife, commonly called fifers, marched alongside drums in battles. A fife is like a piccolo. It is also similar to a flute, but it has a much higher range. The fife was useful ... Jardim Gramacho is seen as a place for people of low quality and for the those who have nothing to lose or left to give, but by Muniz using the garbage and other materials found around Jardim Gramacho, he displays how beautiful this wasteland is and how important the people who live there are. • 21. William Shakespeare s Henry V, King Henry And The French... What constitutes honor in society? In Henry V, King Henry and the French invoke its constitution to incite men into war. Although the reasons that the English and French countrymen fight differ, the thought of honorably serving their countries stands alone as enough impetus to thrust both onto the battlefield. But how can honor command such incentive? The answer stems from individualistic pride. The characters in Henry V see how, as a collective, society has objectively agreed that service to one s country merits honor, but each character, as an individual, chooses to strive towards that honor because of his or her own pride. This notion of individualistic pride both consciously and subconsciously drives daily action. And in Henry V, the insidious intent of pride eclipses the known vicious nature of war. The motivation for King Henry to wage war on France, the subsequent response of France s leadership, and the action of the English countrymen emanates from the notion of honor, but how each individual responds to the desire to fulfill his pride ultimately shapes the field of Agincourt (4.7.86). Henry V illustrates how honor and pride craft the nature of war. King Henry s yearning for honor and the challenges to his pride that he receives from his wild younger days instigates him to pursue war with France. • 28. The Rockwell Collins Satellite Transportable Terminal The Rockwell Collins Satellite Transportable Terminal (STT) is an important satellite for the signal branch that is used to make communications virtually anywhere. A suspension system needs to be put into the STT so that it will not be damaged while being loaded and transported. There are three shock systems available with different spring constants and damping coefficients. The three shock systems are called Air Coasters, Cloud Riders, and Extreme Shocks. A HMMWV was being tested when it began bouncing up and down, so the soldiers operating the vehicle shut it down for fear of it breaking down. Some engineers re fired the gun so they could take measurements of its displacement from the ground in order to understand what was happening, but they only took measurements for 60 seconds before they shut it down. Free Dampened System Loading the Trailer The suspension system can be modeled using the following equation: m (d^2 x)/(dt^2 )+β dx/dt+kx=f(t) x(t) is the displacement from its rest position in meters, m is the mass of the object in kilograms, β is the damping constant in kg/second, k is the spring constant in kg/sec2, and f(t) is the external force in Newtons (N). The mass of the satellite is 1800 kg and the satellite is at equilibrium when the trailer is loaded. Before the trailer is loaded, the displacement of the shocks is 0.05 meters, so the starting displacement is 0.05. The critically damped value of each shock is calculated in Appendix A. He was the very handsome fellow in Greek mythology who, because of his indifference and disdain toward others, was punished by the gods by falling in love with his own image. He was so enraptured by his beauty that he was unable to pull himself away from his own reflection, and he wasted away and died. Narcissism is also considered a social and cultural problem in America. It s not surprising to see a rise in narcissism in this generation given that young people are being bombarded by these messages and sorts of commercial all day, every day through every form of media. It is the same with Jake who is the main character in the story Love in L.A by Dagoberto Gilb. In the story, Jake is consumed with himself and with gaining more pleasure for himself. He wants much more than he has, and he wants it for him to be appraised by many women and finally fell in love with him. He clearly sees himself as a ladies man and uses every opportunity to COLLECT them. The HRA has three main effects, the first one is that it incorporates set out in the European Convention of Human Rights into British law. Therefore if someone in the UK were to breech your Human Rights you would be able to deal with this through the British court instead of the European Court of Human Rights in France, which is what people had to do previously if their human rights were breeched. This means in Britain in requires everyone (schools, police, courts, local authorities and hospitals) carrying out public functions to respect and protect their own and others human rights. These rights are called Convention Rights. For the Human Rights Act to work it means all public bodies have to work with government, the public can do this by respecting the rights and the government will put the laws in place so that others respect your human rights too. For example, everyone has the right to life and this doesn t only rely on the government to make sure you receive this right, but it also depends on those around you not to harm you in any way, this is why the government has put in laws to try and stop people from harming you so that you get that basic right. • 33. A New Paradigm On The Open Market System Essay Introduction In this paper, we will analyze a new paradigm that is emerging recently around the religious institutions, the whole crux of which lies in the fact that the organized religion thrives in the open market system. The paper is further divided into six sections: literature, theory, hypothesis, method, findings of the study, and the discussion. Theory and Hypothesis The sociology of the religion has been seen to be undergoing a period of change, or a paradigm shift. Are the American kids growing up to have a different religious inclination than the kids a generation or two ago? Religious inclination can include acknowledgement of belonging to a certain religion, performing religious practices, attending the religious ceremonies and services, spirituality, religious donations and charities, and approving of religious organizations (Pargament, 1997). Although the religious affiliation for all is an important factor to be considered, the affiliation among the adolescents particularly takes away a significant share of importance. Religious affiliation among kids is believed to bring about a number of positive outcomes including better physical health, less drug abuse, better social conditioning and functioning, and fewer risk related behaviors. The kids who are more religiously inclined are also believed to have less signs of anxiety and depression and display a strong character (Markstorm, 1999). Even in song, the Britons were as prideful as they were aggressive in colonization. Take, for example, an excerpt of their National Anthem: When Britain first at Heaven s command / Arose from out the azure main; / This was the charter of the land / And guardian angels sang this strain; / Rule Britannia! Britannia, rule the waves: / Britons never will be slaves (James Thomson and Thomas Arne). The above speaks of arrogance and superiority, by associating themselves with a higher power; they insinuate that Britain is the Promised Land, and by the logic that there is only one Promised Land, they underlay that everyone else is inferior. But, as much as extreme Nationalism does give a nice sense of pride to the people, it s also very necessary to the theatre of politics and war. In a passage from The Age of Nationalism and Reform, it is stated that, The extraordinary feeling that some people seem to derive from the belief that they are members of a superior nation or race is undoubtedly one of the great appeals of modern nationalism (Rich). Although, Lawrence does include a map of Vietnam and the surrounding territories on page 12, a reader could be lost on who is who by this point in the book. Another point that readers could get mildly confused on is when Lawrence refers to Vietnam as different names. For example, over time, they hoped, aggressive search and destroy operations would inflict casualties more quickly than North Vietnam and the NLF could replace their losses, thus forcing the communists to seek peace on American terms, (Lawrence, 102). Lawrence never explained the NLF, National Liberation Front, and what it means or whom it represents. Lawrence also used Vietcong regularly throughout his study. For instance, Vietcong, a contraction of the term for Vietnamese communist, Lawrence does not really explain why he calls it Vietcong throughout the book (Lawrence, 65). Lawrence could have explained whom this term was more directly used for or why it was used to explain these people. Our relationship got us together for a while we both had good things in common and that was what made us like siblings. Now that we have grown and know things about each other we still talk because we had that fear of rejection but we went through it and it came out to be a positive thing in our friendship. In Valediction there are two best friends that play football and started stealing. John ended up getting caught and pete was called into the office. Pete was asked to confess but he said he wasn t involved. You aren t who I thought you were , said john. This shows that they knew each other and had trust in one another but pete ended up staying quiet and didn t say anything. Relationships define how we act and who we truly are.
