luncheon on grass

Interpretation Paper on Edouard Manet s Luncheon on the Grass Originally titled as Le Bain, means
the bath; Luncheon on the Grass was exhibited at the Salon de Refuses in 1863. It is painted with oil
on a large canvas by Édouard Manet created in between 1862 and 1863. The painting represents the
contrast between a female nude with fully clothed men in a rural setting. By that time, normally
woman in paintings didn t look at viewers straight, especially with nudes. Traditionally, nude models
mostly looked away from the view. But however, Manet s naked female model straightly stares at the
viewer. This was shocking, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also because the two clothed men are wearing dark clothes, the nude female obviously pops out from
the background and grabs viewers attention. I can see where the light hits in different areas, but the
nude female takes the main light source, and therefore, the landscape background smoothed out the
light. Tradition to this time era, Manet s techniques were extraordinary and brush strokes become
much less developed. Most of his brush strokes have been done in free handed. Focusing on the nude
female, her skin is not smoothed out with value of color and brush techniques. Also the background is
containing a rough brush strokes. During this time period, most of the artists are hiding brush strokes
for their technique, but Manet did the opposites. It is obvious to see each brush stroke in nude female
giving a rough complexion. In the background, also this style of rough brush strokes are made
noticeable, and this even seems unfinished. Manet was free with technique. He did not try to hide or to
follow the trends; indeed, some scenes in the painting seem unfinished. Through the composition, the
figures are positioned in central. The interesting thing is that through this composition, I can draw
myself a direct pyramid from. From the foreground nude female figure rises up to the lady in the
water. With this compositional sense, attention falls between the two men. Men seem very odd and
just stuck to be posing because compare to the women two men seems very dull

Milky Way Shapley
The Size of the Milky Way Shapley correctly asserted that the diameter of the Milky Way Galaxy was
much larger than the conventional scale based on star counts, but then incorrectly concluded that
similar sized galaxies beyond our own could not exist. Curtis incorrectly accepted the smaller size for
our Galaxy, but correctly argued that similar galaxies might exist beyond our own.
Distribution of the Nebulae in the Sky Curtis noted that the observed spiral nebulae were generally
found away from the plane of the Galaxy, and he suggested that our Galaxy had a ring of occulting1
material in its plane, like those observed in many edge on spirals, preventing us from seeing the
nebulae in the plane. Shapley simply had to accept the notion that spiral nebulae were, for some
unknown reason, not found in the Galactic plane. Curtis was almost correct in this point. Note,
however, that the effects of absorption by interstellar dust were completely unknown at the time.
Observations of Novae Shapley argued (correctly) that the observed apparent brightnesses of some
novae seen in spiral nebulae implied enormous luminosities if the nebulae lay at large distances.
Curtis suggested (also correctly) that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Curtis had no response towards it. We know today these differences exist because of interstellar
absorption and reddening, which prevent astronomers from getting a comparable view of our own

stars, supporting his argument that they were stellar systems comparable to our own

Neighborhood Case Study
Is a PNA Whittier s Next Step in Neighborhood Advocacy and Planning?
In 2012, the Whittier Alliance released a strategic plan for the next five years that pinpointed critical
steps towards increasing commercial activity and housing investments, raising environmental
standards, and improving the Alliance s organizational structure. Could the adoption of a Private
Neighborhood Association (PNA), as presented by the Mercatus Policy Series , support these steps? In
my opinion, a full PNA will not move the Alliance forward. However, the Whittier Alliance could
benefit and advance these goals if they adopted certain principles introduced by PNAs, specifically:
growing community participation, empowering local knowledge in the Whittier neighborhood, and
working to devolve some planning authority from the city and regional governments into the
neighborhood s hands.
Increasing Community Participation
Getting people interested and invested in urban and community planning decisions often presents a
challenge. Too often, communities across the country are reacting passively to planning changes
instead of taking the initiative in proposing or influencing plans at the start. ... Show more content on

While one might argue that, in the PNA model, a community of renters mobilized to share their
preferences and vote with their feet might easily leave the neighborhood if decisions favorable to
businesses and property owners and contrary to their interests prevail, this breezy conclusion rests on
the shaky assumption that there exist alternative, no less affordable neighborhoods nearby. Finding a
way to increase Whittier residents stake in planning decisions along with balancing the powers of
businesses, property owners, and renters is the direction in which the Alliance must proceed, and it is
clear that adopting a PNA will diverge from this good

A SURVEY ON VIRTUAL PRIVATE NETWORK SECURITY AND ITS TECHNOLOGY
Abstract
Virtual personal Network (VPN) may be a communication network that provides secure knowledge
transmission in an unsecured or public network by mistreatment any combination of technologies. A
virtual association is created across the users who are geographically spread and networks over a
shared or public network, just like the internet. even supposing the info is transmitted during a public
network, VPN provides a bearing as if the info is transmitted through personal connection. This paper
provides a survey report on VPN security and its technologies. Keywords: Tunneling; Protocols;

knowledge encapsulation is finished by wrapping the info with a header, that provides routing data.
This method is named as tunneling. to supply confidentiality to the encapsulated knowledge, the info
is secured by encoding. once knowledge reaches a tunnel finish purpose, the encapsulated knowledge
is decrypted and forwarded to its final destination purpose. VPN permits organizations to attach to
their branch offices or to alternative firms over a public network whereas maintaining secure
communications. The VPN association across the web logically operates as a good space network
(WAN) link between the sites. The secure association across the web seems to the user as {a

communication happens over a public internetwork thus the name virtual private network. 2. VPN

Timmy Turner Short Story
One early morning Cosmo Cosma walked outside into the damp, foggy air, where he had noticed his
basketball idol, Timmy Turner, appeared out of the misty, white fog. His favorite player in the world
just appeared, and Cosmo was mystified by his vision. Cosmo had started trudging towards Timmy
because he heard his voice calling him in a captivating tone, and once he had begun his process
towards Timmy, his idol gradually begun to evaporate into mid air. When Cosmo had seen the
development begin he had rapidly begun to sprint towards Timmy, when he suddenly had been
awoken from his hypnotic state because of luminous, golden lights materialized from the fog. The
mesmerizing lights turned out to be his friend Jorgen Von Strangle, who had come to pick up Cosmo

MMS Rent a Car, based in Atlanta, Georgia, has outlets at major airports and cities throughout North
America. Founded by CEO Elena Markum several years ago, it has seen fast growth over the past few
years, mainly because it offers quality service, fast, at convenient locations. MMS is highly
competitive, able to offer cars at slightly lower rates than its competitors because most of its airport
facilities are located near but not at the airport. A keen user of information systems, MMS tracks

And the Spider came to us right off the new assembly line in Pittsburgh. ELENA: I have one of the
Spiders, too. So I suspect that they re constantly rented out, aren t they? MICHAEL: Well, no. Only
about half of them are rented. The rental rates were supposed to be set pretty high, but our RMS
recommends setting it at the same price as a compact. We hedged a little and set the price to about 10
percent higher. Some local agency offices are overriding the system and setting the prices 15 percent
less, and they still can t move them. ELENA : How about the other classes of cars? MICHAEL:
Rentals are down about 8 percent nationally on all the other ones. E LENA : So sales are down 8
percent for everything but the Spider, and the Spider, which should be a hot seller, is off by 50 percent.
I know from CLAUDIA that our inventory is okay. All the new cars came in on schedule, and we were
able to sell the used cars through electronic auction sites and carmax.com. Folks, we definitely have a
big problem. M ICHAEL : As COO, I see that this is primarily my problem, though all of you here are
involved. We ve never had this happen before, so I really don t know how to classify the problem. But

Homecoming Warrior-Personal Narrative
Ten years ago, on June 6, 2006, what seemed to be a regular day turned out to be the worst day of my
life. It was my dad s birthday, and my family planned to go to a family friend s house to eat. If I knew
then what I knew now, I would have talked my dad out of going because it was the day my life
changed.
We got ready and headed out to their house. When we came into the house, I remember the house had
a strong dog stench, and there was dog hair everywhere. There were so many people when we got
there; it was like a family reunion. We greeted everyone, and then headed inside. Everyone sat around
and waited for the food to be finished. After thirty minutes, we finally started to eat. I remember there

Morality Of Homelessness
Homelessness not only affects politics, the economy, and social environments, it also heavily
influences morality. Should homelessness continue in its current state, the moral compass of humanity
as a whole will be thrown off. Caring for those around us who have experienced troubles should be
something that is actively sought to fix, not ignored. By ignoring the issue, we create an aura of
indifference to, not just human suffering, but suffering that we experience close to our homes. The
continuing existence of homelessness can be seen as a contradiction to the Building Blocks of
Catholic Social Teaching, especially The Principle of Solidarity, The Principle of the Common Good,
and The Principle of Preferential Protection for the Poor

Of Mice And Men Loneliness
Loneliness in Of Mice and Men In the novel Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck it is important to
observe the theme loneliness since it relates to the Great Depression in United States at that time.
Steinbeck portrays loneliness in the characterisation, specially in Candy, Crooks and Curley s wife,
explaining the loneliness of human existence. Loneliness illustrates the people in the ranch and how
they want to escape from it. The first one is the old candy. For example You seen what they done to
my dog tonight? They says he wasn t no good to himself nor nobody else. When they can me here I
wisht somebody d shoot me. But they won t do nothing like that. I won t have no place to go, an I can
t get no more jobs. I ll have thirty dollars more comin , time you guys is ready to quit (60). This is
important because when Candy hears about George and Lennie s plan,he wants to join them because
he is completely alone; his only company was his old dog but Carlson killed. This means that Candy
realize that he will soon be useless on the ranch and is worried about his future, so he buys into

why I can t t talk to you. I ain t doin no harm to you. (88). Seems like they ain t none of them care how
I gotta live. (88). The significance is that she is the only woman living in the ranch, her husband is
very possessive, he thinks that she belongs to him. Curley prohibits her from socializing with other
men. She is very isolated and lonely that we don t even know her name. Furthermore she is always
seeking attention and putting great effort into her looks. In sum, they show us how this three

A feral child is a child who has been in isolation from human contact from a very young age. They
have little or no experience of human care, behavior, or have little knowledge of human language.
This therefore hinders their development of human social skills. Some feral children have been
confined, a lot of times it would be by their own parents. In some cases, child abandonment occurs
due to the parents rejection of a child s severe intellectual or physical impairment. Feral children
experience a lot of things including: severe abuse or trauma before being abandoned or before they ran

Challenges Faced By The Australian Government And Designers
Australia, like many other countries across the globe, faces challenges presented by existing climate
conditions and the future rates of change. Today s decisions, policies, and developing technologies
may alter the ways that climate change will impact the country. As a whole, the Australian government
and designers are already beginning to address these issues through the implementation of sustainable
building codes and the use of climate responsive design and materials that will adjust as the climate
does.

Neruda Poetry Analysis
Reflective Statement Neruda Poetry
Throughout the interactive oral, we discussed Neruda s beliefs and how they influenced his poetry.
Moreover, we discussed how these things not only influenced his writing style, but also his life.
Previously, I thought that I could not relate to Neruda because his beliefs differed very much from
mine. These beliefs clashed because Neruda is from a Latin American country that is communist, and
he is also a communist; while someone like me lives in the United States which is a democracy.
Following this, Neruda s work was easier to relate to than I had originally thought because he talks
about the Latin American struggle and gave his people a voice in poems such as United Fruit co. when
he names the American companies that took advantage of Chile and other Latin American countries.
In the IOQ, we as a class think communists are bad because of the way they are displayed in the
United States, but the IOQ helped me understand that Neruda was more than a communist. Neruda
was a person who used his platform, and took risks writing controversial poems about the struggle of
his people to give them a voice, and politics to expose the corruptness of those leaders because they
were not only taking advantage of their people but also giving communism a negative connotation.
Adding on, Neruda was a strong advocate for communism which influenced his writing also even
though he wrote about other communist leaders such as Martinez and Trujillo, his love for
communism was shown when he wrote the ode to Fidel Castro. Neruda admires Castro because in his
eves Fidel Castro does communism the right way unlike Martinez and Trujillo who took advantage of
their countries resources and people. The way Neruda portrays Fidel Castro contradicts the way
America portrays him because Castro is characterized as a person who killed anyone that got in the
way of his vision of a perfect Cuba, While Neruda characterizes him as hero of communism because
he did not corrupt his people by letting American companies take over Cuba and take advantage of the
people of Cuba.
Overall, the IOQ enhanced my appreciation and understanding of Neruda s work, some of Neruda s
work was controversial, yet people could still relate

Competitive Advantage Of Amazon
Amazon throughout the years has expanded their facilities throughout the U.S and growing at a rapid
pace in rest of the world in the past five years. Amazon was able to develop business in the Midwest
as well as in the Southern State. One of their main focus is to build many headquarters and facilities
around the world mostly near large populated cities because it can be easier and quicker to distribute
them. Based on Amazon s Fulfillment Center Network it is mentioned that the largest amazon s

1,009,400 square feet 2. Some of the large cities that is located near the facility are Mesa, Tucson,

in Arizona is the fact that it is a highly competitive corporate headquarters for many business and is in
the top five largest cities in the United State. Moreover, in the past years technology has penetrated
industries and without no doubt in couple year s automation would be replacing humans as it is seen

About a hundred years has passed since the British passenger liner met its fatal end in the North

unfortunate event. Ever since the sinking, numerous books and remarkable films have been made,
telling the story of the ship and its passengers. The wreck of the ship was found in 1985 by the coast

In 1909, the second of these ships, Titanic, was put into progress and continued to be made nonstop

framework was immediately hauled to a colossal dock where thousands of workers spent most of the
following year building the ship s decks, interiors and boilers that would power the two main steam
engines. Although the Titanic was highly boasted about for being virtually unsinkable, it actually had
many flaws. According to some theories, Titanic was fated to sink from the start. The ship had
watertight bulkheads and electric watertight doors which could be controlled by a switch. It was the
watertight bulkheads that encouraged Shipbuilder magazine to consider the Titanic practically
unsinkable. Unfortunately, the watertight compartment design possessed a major flaw that might have
been a an important factor in Titanic s sinking: although, the individual bulkheads were in fact
watertight, water could spill from one compartment into another. Many of the Titanic s rivals already
had safety features formulated into them in order to prevent this very situation. If White Star had taken
as much caution as its competitor company, it might have rewritten history and prevented the tragedy
of Titanic s sinking. The second crucial

Analysis Of A Night To Remember By Walter Lord
Walter Lord, the narrative historian whose books most notably A Night to Remember, a riveting
account of the sinking of the Titanic were characterized by intensive research and exhaustive
interviews, died on Sunday at his Manhattan apartment. He was 84.
Mr. Lord, a onetime advertising executive, adeptly popularized the stories not only of the Titanic
disaster of 1912 but also the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, the World War II evacuation of Dunkirk,
the Battle of Midway, the fall of the Alamo, the War of 1812 and the enrollment of James Meredith as
the first black student at the University of Mississippi.
His usual approach to what he called living history was to combine historical research with
journalistic methods, including you are there insights gathered in interviews with dozens of survivors
and witnesses to the events he chronicled.
Mr. Lord s writing technique, said Stanley Walker, reviewing A Night to Remember in the Book
Review of The New York Herald Tribune, was based on a kind of literary pointillism, the arrangement
of contrasting bits of fact and emotion in such a fashion that a vividly real impression of an event is
conveyed to the reader.

Gregor is completely rejected and abandoned by his family, not even a word spoken to him from the
people that pretended to love him and Kafka shows this truth that there is no such thing as
unconditional love. Gregor s family does not try to help him but instead they feel ashamed and try to
hide him. They do not think of his feelings or how much he has done for them, instead they want to
get rid of him, We must try to get rid of it (500) said the sister, She s right a thousand times over (500)
the father said to himself. Gregor did not deserve, nor do they ever explain why it happened; he
seemed like the perfect brother and son, supporting them financially and physically. Which gave me
this notion, Everything happens for a reason ; even though Gregor ends up dying he was killing
himself in the story as a human to feed, pay and give to his parents and his sister when they did not
even deserve it. His family could not function without him and when Gregor is turned they finally
have to shift to supporting themselves. Kafka shows such vulnerability to events way beyond our
control. The fact that Gregor becomes alienated from his family, isolated in this dark room and with
such mistreatment from the people who are

Network Synthesis Essay
Affordable mobile communication for civilian and military applications is greatly enhanced by the
significant investments in infrastructures such as cellphone towers and repeaters. However, such
infrastructures cannot be provided for ad hoc communication systems and the network connectivity
for such systems is greatly degraded by the adverse effects of the communication channel such as
multi path fading, attenuation, non line of sight, etc. As a result, operation at longer wavelengthes
(UHF and VHF) is preferred for ground communication between army vehicles to decrease path loss
and bypass obstacles. Also because of the issues related to near earth wave propagation, vertical
polarization is the preferred choice to achieve minimum path loss. ... Show more content on

Window embedded wire antennas have been introduced at FM frequencies for low power or receive
only applications. The power transmitted by the army radios at VHF and UHF frequencies can exceed
tens of watts. At these power levels, it is of crucial importance to isolate the interior of the vehicle
from the antenna radiation. In addition, this isolation eliminates the affects of the cabin interior and
passengers on the antenna input impedance and radiation pattern. Hence a transparent ground plane
will be needed behind the radiating element to reduce the radiation inside the vehicle and at the same
time increase the directivity of the antenna. A wire mesh or a more sophisticated band selective ground
plane can be used as the reflecting element. A meshed patch antenna on a mesh ground plane can
provide the required isolation with the cabin interior. However because of the sub wavelength
dimensions of the armored windows at VHF and UHF frequencies a patch antenna, if feasible, cannot
provide the one octave bandwidth required by the army radios. In this paper a monopole bow tie
antenna backed by a cavity (armored window) is proposed. Because of the limited thickness of the
window glass, the radiation element and the transparent ground plane need to be placed very close to
each other. Therefore the gain and/or the

Complex Regional Pain Syndrome Analysis
Unexpected Change My life has always been challenged by school, stress, family and peer pressure,
but the biggest challenge of them all was being diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome
(CRPS) in 2012. Complex Regional Pain Syndrome is a form of chronic pain that affects an extremity.
Not only did this disease affect my health but it affected my family financially. This disease brought
destruction to my life and it completely turned my family s live upside down. However, Complex
Regional Pain Syndrome brought an important lesson that my family and I learned from. On July 8,

You can t possibly live long enough to make them all yourself (Levenson np). I hope to learn from the
mistakes of my parents, but specially learn from their financial mistakes to achieve success. From the
unexpected emergencies that changed my family s course, I have learned to have a savings account for
unexpected emergencies. Many people in today s society aren t prepared for unexpected emergencies.
Emergencies happen and there is nothing we can do to stop them, but we can be prepared for them.
Not only did being diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain changed the way I look at the world, but it
helped me understand how much my parents have sacrificed for me. Before being diagnosed with
Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, I wasn t able to appreciate how much my parents did for me.
However, now that I understand all the sacrifices and the work, I love my parents even more. My
parents and I both have learn that being prepared for unexpected emergencies is a must. No one knows
when an emergency can happen but always being prepared saves stress in the long run. I hope to
incorporate the financial advice my parents have given me and hope to learn as I go in life. One of the
major decisions after high school is whether to attend a university or attended a community college.
Although both a university and a community college serve the same purpose, the two differ on costs,
admission requirements, and the learning environment.

Personal Narrative-Depth Indents
I couldn t breathe. The rough indents of a palm brushed across my chest, down my thighs, engulfing
my body in a warm wave of fearful emotions. Frozen. Motionless. Not again. His lips, both of them,
strangling my mouth for air. Senses were overpowering my thoughts and my brain was beginning to
solidify. Concepts were forgotten and any strategic ideas removed from my mind. Liquid swept over
my cheekbones and I thought it was blood until the salty taste of my own agony filled my mouth. I
couldn t cry... he would know how much he was hurting me... I couldn t give in. Nails were beginning

Shaukat is gone, he left.
Two colliding forces were threatening my emotions. Shaukat being gone would add less struggle to
my escape... yet none of my family wanted me to act relieved. They wanted me to be upset, they
expected me to mourn.
I crumpled over, feeling the warmth of my hands against my eyelids. Act upset. That was all I had to

Through whimpered breaths I questioned my Uncle. Where did he go? When did he leave? Is he
coming back? The only three questions I could comprehend.
Last night, my Aunty regained her speech we found a note... from Shaukat. In it he wrote that he was
leaving. Running away to find a better life. Many times within the letter he apologised for, leaving you
without a future husband and leaving his work behind. But he mentioned how his departure was for
the best. Sorry child.
Can I s see the note, I stuttered, trying to blend in amongst my fake emotions.

(Economy Watch)
Every economy has their own characteristic. For free market is there are many economic freedoms,
there is competition among businesses, competition determines price which increase the quality of the
product, economic decisions are made by the basic principles of supply and demand, and profit is the
motive for increasing work rather than quotas.
Mixed economy
Mixed economy is combination from planned and free market economy. This economy system allows
the private company use their capital. This economy system allows the government to interfere to the
market. The resources are allocated from both the government and the private sector. In this system
the freedom in the economic activities are influenced by the Government s regulation and licensing
policies.
The example of the country that implemented this economy system is Iceland, Sweden, France, and
United Kingdom.
There are several advantages and disadvantages of the mixed economy system. The advantages are
most business and industry can be left to private firms. This is because private firms tend to be more
efficient than government controlled firms because they have a profit incentive to cut costs and be
innovative. Second is government can pursue policies to provide macro economic stability.

Cleveland, Ohio for six years, but he later decided to teach law rather than practice it, and in 1967 he
became a professor of Law at the University of Virginia. Scalia s role in public service began in 1972
when President Nixon appointed him as general counsel for the Office of Telecommunications Policy
where he helped formulate regulations for the cable television industry, and in 1974, after the
Watergate scandal, he was appointed Assistant Attorney General for the Office of Legal Council in

controversial opinions, mostly those in which he dissents on cases related to moral issues, such as

of his opinions. Contrary to what one would expect, one of Justice Antonin Scalia s closest friends and

Peter Singer Poverty
World poverty is undeniably one of the biggest issues humanity has faced. Poverty has been the death
of thousands a day for decades, and all over the world people are trying to pinpoint how to fix it. With
poverty proving to be such a worldwide problem, hundreds of positions have been proposed. Among
these opinions, professor of bioethics, Peter Singer believes, whatever money you re spending on
luxuries, not necessities, should be given away. This position would provide a huge increase of money
going into programs, and closer, better functioning communities. However, this brings to question
who will determine what is a necessity and what is a luxury. Additionally, this would also make the
desire to earn more less prominent in our society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Peter Singer solution would require an obsolete definition of necessity vs. luxury because the
word necessity is a relevant term. For one to give everything that is not a necessity, humanity as one
would have to determine what is a luxury and what is a necessity. For example, in ¨The Poor In The
US Live Comfortably¨ they talk about with current welfare, circumstances, and donations, that the
impoverished live in relative comfort and don t necessarily need help because they are not in dire need
(Rector). The suggestion is repulsive. The mere idea that just because someone has enough means we
should not help them is just going to show that the human race truly has become selfish creatures so
blinded by our ego is downright wrong. Some people might be considered comfortable because they
live in a box and get food from the homeless shelter, but that does not give society an excuse to push
them aside to avoid looking at our faults. This is proven in Facts on poverty in the world . The article
states one in five people on the planet live in less than $1 a day and over a billion people do not have
access to clean water. In turn 2.2 million people die a year due to polluted water and sanitation issues.
The fact that people do not have enough money for water, and live on pocket change daily is killing
people. The population is skyrocketing, and babies are coming into a world

How The Mac Is A Medium Access Control Protocol
Introduction : This paper discusses about the S MAC , which is a Medium Access Control Protocol
used in wireless sensor networks . The protocol proposed in the paper is mainly inspired by PAMAS .
The important goals of this protocol is to conserve energy and configure by itself or known as
scalability . It is entirely different from traditional mac protocols like ieee 802.11. The protocol uses
three primary techniques to support energy conserving and self configuration . they periodically sleep
to minimize energy consumption , then formation of virtual clusters by neighbor nodes for auto
synchronization on sleep times and radios are also set to sleep during transmissions of other node .
Then S mac uses message passing and in channel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2) periodic listen and sleep : in this the listen time is reduced by letting go the node into periodic sleep
.
a) basis scheme : in this node goes to sleep for a specified time and then wakes up to listen if any node
wants to communicate with it . A timer is set during sleep and the radio of the node is also turned off .
A periodic synchronization is between neighbor nodes for their correct clock timings . Two techniques
are used to synchronization one is timestamps exchanged are relative other than being absolute.
Another technique is listen is period is longer than clock error or drift . To reduce control overhead
neighbor nodes should be preferred to synchronize together . to be noted that all neighboring nodes
cant synchronize together . then all nodes broadcast their schedule to all its immediate neighbors this
for ensuring that all neighbor can talk with different schedule times . If multiple nodes want to talk to
a node , this can be done by contention mechanism using request to send and clear to send packets .
here first come first serve basis , node which send first will grab the medium . here the formation of
nodes are done in flat topology .
b) choosing and maintaining schedules : each node maintains its own schedule table where its
neighbor nodes schedule are stored. First node listens for a particular time , if it is not hearing from
another node it randomnly goes to sleep with broadcasting a SYNC message .

How Did Thomas Jefferson Influence Neoclassical Architecture
Neoclassical architecture began in the mid eighteenth century by the neoclassical movement. It is a
style principally derived from the work of the Italian architect Andrea Palladio, the architecture of
classical age, and the Marcus Vitruvius Pollio principles. Neoclassical architecture was the answer to
simplifying the excesses of the Rocco style with its simpler symmetrical forms, intense use of
columns, and a fondness for blank walls. Neoclassicism could be found flourishing in every major city
in Europe and the United States. Within this movement, two people stand out for their architectural
prominence. Thomas Jefferson from the United States and Robert Adams from Europe.
Thomas Jefferson (April 13, 1743 July 4, 1826) was the author of the Declaration of Independence,
Governor of the State of Virginia, Ambassador to France, and the third President of the United States
of America. With these accomplishments, he was also one of the best architects of the late 18th and
early 19th century. Although a well educated man, Jefferson was a self taught architect greatly
influenced by the Italian revivalist architect Andrea Palladio (1508 1580). Jefferson was introduced to
neoclassical architecture during his tenure as an Ambassador to France. His enthusiasm for
neoclassical art had a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ramsey is constantly portrayed as a self absorbed man who thinks of what he could have been and

Only by helping others does Mrs. Ramsay enjoy life. Her entire life as well as her perception and self

Lily Briscoe says about herself, there was her father; her home; even, had she dared to say it, her
painting.... she liked to be alone; she liked to be herself; she was not made for that... her dear Lily, her
little Brisk, was a fool (53). Lily constantly compared herself to Mrs. Ramsay as well as others and
fell short of who she felt that she should have already become. But Lily Briscoe is a dreamer and a
lazy person who would rather complain about her life than actually do something about it. However,
after finding out that she was dying, she says to herself, For now she need not think about anybody.
She could be herself, by herself. And that was what now she often felt the need of to think; well, not
even to think. To be silent; to be alone... she became the thing she looked at that light, for example
(65,66). Once she reveals to her husband that she is dying her entire purpose for living changes. She
becomes the lighthouse to her family lighting their way to become to each other what she had been to
them. For instance, after they return to the house, Lily relates that Mr. Ramsay had said to Mrs.

Ikea And Pan Am Case Study
Introduction
From its very beginning, IKEA, the world s largest furniture retailer, experienced much success
(Loeb). Similarly, Pan American World Airways, or Pan Am, was the principal international air carrier
of the United States for most of its lifetime (Banning). However, when Pan Am went bankrupt in
1991, the company became known as one of the biggest failures in the industry. To examine why
IKEA and Pan Am had such different outcomes despite their similar beginnings, one must start with
learning the history of each company.
History of IKEA
It all started in 1943, when Ingvar Kamprad opened his first commercial business in the name of
IKEA, which derives from his initials and of Elmtaryd and Agunnaryd, the names of his family farm
and the parish in which he grew up. At first, it was just a mail order business selling pencils, postcards,
and other merchandise ( Milestones ). When the company first introduced furniture as a complement
to the general merchandise in 1948, it was an immediate success. As a result, the company started
exploring innovating solutions such as furniture design, self assembly, and advertising ( Milestones ).
The 1950s marked many milestones for the company. In 1951, IKEA published the first annual IKEA
furniture catalogue, and in 1953, it opened its first showroom ( Milestones ). In 1958, the first IKEA
store opened in Älmhult, Sweden. The IKEA brand started to take shape in the 1960s and 1970s, as
new stores opened and the company

Demand And Supply Of The International Business...
Chapter 7: 1. Exporters typically prefer conservative measures when managing foreign receivables.
Because of this, there is a tendency to lean on the side of caution. Describe at least three reasons for
this conservativism. Exporters typically prefer conservative measures when managing foreign
receivables. Because of this, there is a tendency to lean on the side of caution. Three reasons for this
conservatism are described below: 1. Fluctuation in exchange rates: Exchange rates of currencies of
different countries fluctuate continuously and in a very random manner with the change in the demand
and supply state of the concerned currency. That can translate the profit from the international
business transaction into a loss or vice versa. Thus, the exporters dealing with foreign receivables
should be conservative to avoid this risk. 2. The difference in the legal system: Different countries
have different legal rules and policies for dealing with and managing the foreign accounts receivable.
It is mostly harder for a business to pursue any overdue amounts from an international business due to
the difference in the legal system. It is another reason for the conservative approaches of the exporters.
3. Change in export prices: Unexpected change in the commodity prices in a particular country will
arise a great risk for the exporters when managing foreign receivables. Change in commodity price
will also influence various other costs associated with the export like

Characteristics Of Effective Leadership Styles
Characteristics of Effective Leadership Styles
Presented to
Perry Barton, Instructor
MGMT 1115 Leadership
By
William Allen
June 21, 2015
What are the effective leadership styles? More importantly what are the characteristics of these styles.
This paper will discuss in detail three topics and how they relate to effective leadership styles. We will
start by evaluating business situations to determine whether the leadership style is participative,
autocratic, leadership grid based or entrepreneurial. Next we will compare and contrast the leadership
styles in various situations based upon the leadership differences by gender. Lastly, we will decide the
best leadership style for specific situations. Different business situations require specific leadership
styles. These leadership styles include participative, autocratic, leadership grid based and
entrepreneurial. The Participative leadership style is characterized by a leader who turns to the team
for input, ideas, and observations instead of making all decisions on their own. The leader recognizes
that the team has skills and ideas that could benefit the decision making process. Participative
leadership requires the whole team to be involved. Benefits of this style of leadership includes having
subordinates feeling empowered and important. Its also able to give different strategies and decisions
from perspectives of other people which can benefit decision making in that the decision in not

Edward Gein Social Control Theory
She s not missing, she s at the farm right now. This haunting quote comes from the mouth of one of
the most grotesque and brutal serial killers to ever live, Edward Gein. Edward was born on August
27th 1906 to an abusive alcoholic father, George Gein and an overly religious mother, Augusta Carter.
Along with Edward, George and Augusta gave birth to Edwards older brother Henry in 1902. The
family settled down in the little town of Lacrosse, Wisconsin where Augusta raised the young boys.
For the most part, her husband George was left out of the picture mainly because Augusta believed he
was a worthless alcoholic. This paper will discuss the connection between Edward s crimes and social
control theory in order to arrive at a conclusion as to why Gein committed the brutal murders he did.
Before we dive into Gein s criminal history and early life we need to understand why social control
theories differ from most other criminological theories. Social control theories tend to dive deeper into
the realm of Why didn t someone offend opposed to why did someone offend. Most criminological
theories seek to explain how the need to conform to society affects criminal development ,but social
control theories center around the idea that there are multiple outside factors that encourage ... Show

  • 2. luncheon on grass So Hee Ko AEAH 4812 001: Modernism and the Visual Arts, 1890 1945 October 1, 2012 Formal Interpretation Paper on Edouard Manet s Luncheon on the Grass Originally titled as Le Bain, means the bath; Luncheon on the Grass was exhibited at the Salon de Refuses in 1863. It is painted with oil on a large canvas by Édouard Manet created in between 1862 and 1863. The painting represents the contrast between a female nude with fully clothed men in a rural setting. By that time, normally woman in paintings didn t look at viewers straight, especially with nudes. Traditionally, nude models mostly looked away from the view. But however, Manet s naked female model straightly stares at the viewer. This was shocking, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also because the two clothed men are wearing dark clothes, the nude female obviously pops out from the background and grabs viewers attention. I can see where the light hits in different areas, but the nude female takes the main light source, and therefore, the landscape background smoothed out the light. Tradition to this time era, Manet s techniques were extraordinary and brush strokes become much less developed. Most of his brush strokes have been done in free handed. Focusing on the nude female, her skin is not smoothed out with value of color and brush techniques. Also the background is containing a rough brush strokes. During this time period, most of the artists are hiding brush strokes for their technique, but Manet did the opposites. It is obvious to see each brush stroke in nude female giving a rough complexion. In the background, also this style of rough brush strokes are made noticeable, and this even seems unfinished. Manet was free with technique. He did not try to hide or to follow the trends; indeed, some scenes in the painting seem unfinished. Through the composition, the figures are positioned in central. The interesting thing is that through this composition, I can draw myself a direct pyramid from. From the foreground nude female figure rises up to the lady in the water. With this compositional sense, attention falls between the two men. Men seem very odd and just stuck to be posing because compare to the women two men seems very dull ... • 4. Milky Way Shapley The Size of the Milky Way Shapley correctly asserted that the diameter of the Milky Way Galaxy was much larger than the conventional scale based on star counts, but then incorrectly concluded that similar sized galaxies beyond our own could not exist. Curtis incorrectly accepted the smaller size for our Galaxy, but correctly argued that similar galaxies might exist beyond our own. Distribution of the Nebulae in the Sky Curtis noted that the observed spiral nebulae were generally found away from the plane of the Galaxy, and he suggested that our Galaxy had a ring of occulting1 material in its plane, like those observed in many edge on spirals, preventing us from seeing the nebulae in the plane. Shapley simply had to accept the notion that spiral nebulae were, for some unknown reason, not found in the Galactic plane. Curtis was almost correct in this point. Note, however, that the effects of absorption by interstellar dust were completely unknown at the time. Observations of Novae Shapley argued (correctly) that the observed apparent brightnesses of some novae seen in spiral nebulae implied enormous luminosities if the nebulae lay at large distances. Curtis suggested (also correctly) that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Curtis had no response towards it. We know today these differences exist because of interstellar absorption and reddening, which prevent astronomers from getting a comparable view of our own Galaxy, but all this was unknown at the time. • 5. Neighborhood Case Study Is a PNA Whittier s Next Step in Neighborhood Advocacy and Planning? In 2012, the Whittier Alliance released a strategic plan for the next five years that pinpointed critical steps towards increasing commercial activity and housing investments, raising environmental standards, and improving the Alliance s organizational structure. Could the adoption of a Private Neighborhood Association (PNA), as presented by the Mercatus Policy Series , support these steps? In my opinion, a full PNA will not move the Alliance forward. However, the Whittier Alliance could benefit and advance these goals if they adopted certain principles introduced by PNAs, specifically: growing community participation, empowering local knowledge in the Whittier neighborhood, and working to devolve some planning authority from the city and regional governments into the neighborhood s hands. Increasing Community Participation Getting people interested and invested in urban and community planning decisions often presents a challenge. Too often, communities across the country are reacting passively to planning changes instead of taking the initiative in proposing or influencing plans at the start. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While one might argue that, in the PNA model, a community of renters mobilized to share their preferences and vote with their feet might easily leave the neighborhood if decisions favorable to businesses and property owners and contrary to their interests prevail, this breezy conclusion rests on the shaky assumption that there exist alternative, no less affordable neighborhoods nearby. Finding a way to increase Whittier residents stake in planning decisions along with balancing the powers of businesses, property owners, and renters is the direction in which the Alliance must proceed, and it is clear that adopting a PNA will diverge from this good ... Should homelessness continue in its current state, the moral compass of humanity as a whole will be thrown off. Caring for those around us who have experienced troubles should be something that is actively sought to fix, not ignored. By ignoring the issue, we create an aura of indifference to, not just human suffering, but suffering that we experience close to our homes. • 13. Of Mice And Men Loneliness Loneliness in Of Mice and Men In the novel Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck it is important to observe the theme loneliness since it relates to the Great Depression in United States at that time. Steinbeck portrays loneliness in the characterisation, specially in Candy, Crooks and Curley s wife, explaining the loneliness of human existence. Loneliness illustrates the people in the ranch and how they want to escape from it. The first one is the old candy. For example You seen what they done to my dog tonight? They says he wasn t no good to himself nor nobody else. When they can me here I wisht somebody d shoot me. But they won t do nothing like that. I won t have no place to go, an I can t get no more jobs. I ll have thirty dollars more comin , time you guys is ready to quit (60). This is important because when Candy hears about George and Lennie s plan,he wants to join them because he is completely alone; his only company was his old dog but Carlson killed. In some cases, child abandonment occurs due to the parents rejection of a child s severe intellectual or physical impairment. • 16. Neruda Poetry Analysis Reflective Statement Neruda Poetry Throughout the interactive oral, we discussed Neruda s beliefs and how they influenced his poetry. Moreover, we discussed how these things not only influenced his writing style, but also his life. Previously, I thought that I could not relate to Neruda because his beliefs differed very much from mine. These beliefs clashed because Neruda is from a Latin American country that is communist, and he is also a communist; while someone like me lives in the United States which is a democracy. Following this, Neruda s work was easier to relate to than I had originally thought because he talks about the Latin American struggle and gave his people a voice in poems such as United Fruit co. when he names the American companies that took advantage of Chile and other Latin American countries. In the IOQ, we as a class think communists are bad because of the way they are displayed in the United States, but the IOQ helped me understand that Neruda was more than a communist. Neruda was a person who used his platform, and took risks writing controversial poems about the struggle of his people to give them a voice, and politics to expose the corruptness of those leaders because they were not only taking advantage of their people but also giving communism a negative connotation. Adding on, Neruda was a strong advocate for communism which influenced his writing also even though he wrote about other communist leaders such as Martinez and Trujillo, his love for communism was shown when he wrote the ode to Fidel Castro. Neruda admires Castro because in his eves Fidel Castro does communism the right way unlike Martinez and Trujillo who took advantage of their countries resources and people. The way Neruda portrays Fidel Castro contradicts the way America portrays him because Castro is characterized as a person who killed anyone that got in the way of his vision of a perfect Cuba, While Neruda characterizes him as hero of communism because he did not corrupt his people by letting American companies take over Cuba and take advantage of the people of Cuba. Overall, the IOQ enhanced my appreciation and understanding of Neruda s work, some of Neruda s work was controversial, yet people could still relate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1909, the second of these ships, Titanic, was put into progress and continued to be made nonstop until the 1911; a long two years. At that time, Titanic was the biggest movable man made object in the entire world. Over 100,000 people attended the launching of the new luxury boat. The ship s framework was immediately hauled to a colossal dock where thousands of workers spent most of the following year building the ship s decks, interiors and boilers that would power the two main steam engines. Although the Titanic was highly boasted about for being virtually unsinkable, it actually had many flaws. According to some theories, Titanic was fated to sink from the start. The ship had watertight bulkheads and electric watertight doors which could be controlled by a switch. It was the watertight bulkheads that encouraged Shipbuilder magazine to consider the Titanic practically unsinkable. Unfortunately, the watertight compartment design possessed a major flaw that might have been a an important factor in Titanic s sinking: although, the individual bulkheads were in fact watertight, water could spill from one compartment into another. Many of the Titanic s rivals already had safety features formulated into them in order to prevent this very situation. If White Star had taken as much caution as its competitor company, it might have rewritten history and prevented the tragedy of Titanic s sinking. The second crucial ... However, such infrastructures cannot be provided for ad hoc communication systems and the network connectivity for such systems is greatly degraded by the adverse effects of the communication channel such as multi path fading, attenuation, non line of sight, etc. As a result, operation at longer wavelengthes (UHF and VHF) is preferred for ground communication between army vehicles to decrease path loss and bypass obstacles. Window embedded wire antennas have been introduced at FM frequencies for low power or receive only applications. The power transmitted by the army radios at VHF and UHF frequencies can exceed tens of watts. At these power levels, it is of crucial importance to isolate the interior of the vehicle from the antenna radiation. In addition, this isolation eliminates the affects of the cabin interior and passengers on the antenna input impedance and radiation pattern. Hence a transparent ground plane will be needed behind the radiating element to reduce the radiation inside the vehicle and at the same time increase the directivity of the antenna. A wire mesh or a more sophisticated band selective ground plane can be used as the reflecting element. A meshed patch antenna on a mesh ground plane can provide the required isolation with the cabin interior. However because of the sub wavelength dimensions of the armored windows at VHF and UHF frequencies a patch antenna, if feasible, cannot provide the one octave bandwidth required by the army radios. In this paper a monopole bow tie antenna backed by a cavity (armored window) is proposed. Because of the limited thickness of the window glass, the radiation element and the transparent ground plane need to be placed very close to each other. Therefore the gain and/or the ... It is a style principally derived from the work of the Italian architect Andrea Palladio, the architecture of classical age, and the Marcus Vitruvius Pollio principles. • 36. Ikea And Pan Am Case Study Introduction From its very beginning, IKEA, the world s largest furniture retailer, experienced much success (Loeb). Similarly, Pan American World Airways, or Pan Am, was the principal international air carrier of the United States for most of its lifetime (Banning). However, when Pan Am went bankrupt in 1991, the company became known as one of the biggest failures in the industry. To examine why IKEA and Pan Am had such different outcomes despite their similar beginnings, one must start with learning the history of each company. History of IKEA It all started in 1943, when Ingvar Kamprad opened his first commercial business in the name of IKEA, which derives from his initials and of Elmtaryd and Agunnaryd, the names of his family farm and the parish in which he grew up. At first, it was just a mail order business selling pencils, postcards, and other merchandise ( Milestones ). When the company first introduced furniture as a complement to the general merchandise in 1948, it was an immediate success. As a result, the company started exploring innovating solutions such as furniture design, self assembly, and advertising ( Milestones ). The 1950s marked many milestones for the company. • 37. Demand And Supply Of The International Business... Chapter 7: 1. Exporters typically prefer conservative measures when managing foreign receivables. Because of this, there is a tendency to lean on the side of caution. Describe at least three reasons for this conservativism. Exporters typically prefer conservative measures when managing foreign receivables. Because of this, there is a tendency to lean on the side of caution. Three reasons for this conservatism are described below: 1. Fluctuation in exchange rates: Exchange rates of currencies of different countries fluctuate continuously and in a very random manner with the change in the demand and supply state of the concerned currency. That can translate the profit from the international business transaction into a loss or vice versa. Thus, the exporters dealing with foreign receivables should be conservative to avoid this risk. 2. The difference in the legal system: Different countries have different legal rules and policies for dealing with and managing the foreign accounts receivable. It is mostly harder for a business to pursue any overdue amounts from an international business due to the difference in the legal system. It is another reason for the conservative approaches of the exporters. 3. Change in export prices: Unexpected change in the commodity prices in a particular country will arise a great risk for the exporters when managing foreign receivables. Change in commodity price will also influence various other costs associated with the export like ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. Edward Gein Social Control Theory She s not missing, she s at the farm right now. This haunting quote comes from the mouth of one of the most grotesque and brutal serial killers to ever live, Edward Gein. Edward was born on August 27th 1906 to an abusive alcoholic father, George Gein and an overly religious mother, Augusta Carter. Along with Edward, George and Augusta gave birth to Edwards older brother Henry in 1902. The family settled down in the little town of Lacrosse, Wisconsin where Augusta raised the young boys. For the most part, her husband George was left out of the picture mainly because Augusta believed he was a worthless alcoholic. This paper will discuss the connection between Edward s crimes and social control theory in order to arrive at a conclusion as to why Gein committed the brutal murders he did. Before we dive into Gein s criminal history and early life we need to understand why social control theories differ from most other criminological theories. Social control theories tend to dive deeper into the realm of Why didn t someone offend opposed to why did someone offend. Most criminological theories seek to explain how the need to conform to society affects criminal development ,but social control theories center around the idea that there are multiple outside factors that encourage ...
