Inappropriate Hyponatremia Essay
EUVOLEMIC HYPONATREMIA: MECHANISM SYNDROME OF INAPPROPRIATE
ANTIDIURETIC HORMONE SECRETION [5,13] SIADH is the most common cause of
hyponatremia [13]. It is caused by inappropriate vasopressin secretion either from the pituitary or from
the ectopic source independent of the circulatory volume status and serum osmolality resulting in
hyponatremia. Also there occurs inappropriate diuresis due to the action of vasopressin in the
collecting tubules and its action continues until V2 receptors are down regulated (vasopressin escape)
[5]. There are multiple etiological factors as mentioned earlier cause inappropriate ADH secretion. A

Research Testing the Shot Distance of the Crossbow, the...
I am researching this because I am interested in medieval and roman weaponry and how it works so it
was a simple choice to make and test different weapons from those eras. I am finding out which shoots
the furthest the crossbow, the catapult, or the slingshot and if I do not know how they work, I cannot
compare them to each other so I decided to research this.
My hypothesis is that the catapult will shoot the furthest and I think that I am right do to previous
research by professionals. But in other cases the catapult is made to full size but in this case it is made
to a scale factor of 25% of its original size so that might affect the result because in the larger version
there is more force on the launcher and in the crossbow there isn t as much tension build up.

Hooke s Law is a physics principle the says that the force needed to pull something back in this case
by some distance is directly proportional to that distance s is a constant factor that factors in the spring

Pulling back on the string creates elastic energy and when the string is released the elastic energy
forces the string to go forwards therefore transforming the elastic energy to kinetic energy which
transfers into the arrow when the string reach s limit of extension.

The Use and Abuse of Visual Culture in Adult Cartoons
The Use and Abuse of Visual Culture in Adult Cartoons
The Oxford dictionary defines visual as A9 picture, piece of film, or display used to illustrate or
accompany something and culture as The arts and other manifestations of human intellectual
achievement regarded collectively . However there isn t a definition for visual culture in the oxford
dictionary. This is because Visual culture is limitless and ever changing which makes it difficult to
define. An attempt to define visual culture is a reflection of everyday attitudes, behaviours, ideas and
mannerisms on works of art rather than its aesthetic value.
A cartoon is described in the oxford dictionary as a simplified or exaggerated version or interpretation

Characters such as Micky mouse, Donald duck, Bugs bunny and Daffy Duck were shown on
television screens in many homes. These characters and their crazy personas caught the eyes of many
children and as they had very little dialogue and simple plots and storylines they were easy enough for
children to watch. These Cartoonists created cartoons that shaped what was known as Saturday
morning cartoons . There were also a lot of governing bodies such as the Hayes code (1930 to 1968)
which kept cartoons innocent and ensured that adult themes were kept out of cartoons, epically those
appearing on television, this brought about a decline in adults watching cartoons as most cartoons at
the time were too simple minded and not complex enough for adults. However the comic book
industry still thrived and was aimed at a slightly older audience.
Later on in the 1960 s Hanna Barbera created cartoons such as Scooby doo, the Flintstones and the
Jetsons. These cartoons had more dialogue than the average cartoons, contained more clever and witty
jokes and were well suited for an adult as well as a younger audience. They focused on the average
family and showed some of the issues faced in family life. Some argue that the Flintstones was the
first mainstream adult cartoon to go on air. The Flintstones was originally aimed at an adult audience
and the first two seasons were

Jane Eyre Research Paper
Charlotte Bronte describes Jane Eyre with many details of of neglect, abuse, mystery and abnormality.
Many details are left for the readers to use their own imagination and advance the story. A gothic
novel is commonly understood to entail abuse, supernatural elements, and a setting that resembles
secrecy. Even though the story has some elements of a romantic novel, the majority of the concepts
are described by the author to be gothic. Jane Eyre is a gothic novel that emphasis darkness
throughout the whole story.
A popular classification of a gothic novel entails acts of violence. Horrible, macabre events advance
the story, and create a sense of darkness. Bronte says, ...not soon enough, however; the volume was
flung, it hit me, and I fell, striking my head against the door and cutting it. (Bronte 6). Villains, such as
John Reed, impact Jane Eyre s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Suspense, mystery, and darkness are all created when the reader is left to visualise the home for
themselves. The author says, We now slowly ascended a drive, and came upon the long front of a
house: candlelight gleamed from one curtained bow window; and the rest were dark. (Bronte 82). One
single candle light amongst the darkness, immediately creates secrecy and the appearance of a remote
location. Bronte advances the idea of darkness, through the secluded location of Thornfield, as one
small disappearing candlelight is the only image of lightness for miles. Bronte says, Its grey front
stood out well well from the background of a rookery, whose cawing tenants were now on the wing;
they flew over the lawn and grounds to alight in a great meadow, from which these were separated by
a sunk fence, and where an array of mighty old thorn trees, strong, knotty, and broad as oaks... (86).
The author wants to build the idea of darkness, feeding of the reader s imagination. Remote locations

Analysis Of Francois Hutteau s Great Search For Liberty
Francois Hutteau s great search for Liberty
Hello my French brothers and sisters! Dark times have befallen our precious land, and pure chaos has
ensued. I write to the people in France in hopes of establishing a new land. A land that can be looked
upon proudly with eyes of great virtue. In order to achieve our wildest dreams we must sort through
the rubbish that has landed us here in the first place. How will we as a society react to the many things
that have been dealt to the people of France? Perhaps our great fight ends in bloodshed, and broken
promises. Or perhaps we could take heed of the laws and policies our fellow Europeans across the
Sea. I had the pleasure of visiting one of the cities in America that the citizens take so much pride in:
Boston, Massachusetts. A port town on the North Eastern coast that was a large part of the American
Revolution. It was also home to the Notorious Boston Massacre. There are a number of things that I
enjoyed about my trip, but pointing out the differences between Boston and France had to be the most
delectable part of my trip. The way in which they practice religion is something to behold. Their new
Constitution is also no laughing matter, and lastly the many things Americans find fun is mesmerizing,
and also repulsive. America is a tremendous place and I cannot wait to guide you through my journey
and inferences.
The first voyage I made when I got off the boat was directly towards a church. I decided to visit the
Old North Church and as I approached I noticed that the brick work seemed to glisten in the sun, and
the white interior reminded me of how pure the world can really be. The church practiced
Protestantism, and started soon after the War.[1] I admired the way in which the citizens praised God,
but I did happen to notice that their practices were rather different from my own. After talking to some
of the Americans most had either commented on my accent or expressed their condolences to the
revolution. I also asked them about how they worship and how they choose to worship. Many of these
American citizens were free to choose what they wanted to worship. Most did say that they would be
judged for their religious decisions, but were never forced into doing

If we analyze Dollar Store, we will see that it has established over 140 stores across Canada since its
inception in 1998. As it has been considerably increasing its market reach across Canada; they are
considered a direct competitor to Dollarama. On the other hand, Great Canadian Dollar stores are
extending their reach in eastern Canada. Additionally, they are very present in the community by
offering both charitable and communal support. At last, Dollar Tree is a growing chain of discounted
retail stores in the United States. It operates over 4400 retail stores in 48 states of the US and in
Canada. Thus, they are ready to expand their customer base into Canada. Also, Dollar Tree offers a
much broader range of products compared to Dollarama, for example frozen foods and dairy items. As
such, there is a very high competition in the discounted retail stores industry. However, in such a high
competitive environment, Dollarama is still able to open over 150 stores in the past four years only.
Also, considering their stock trend, their share price had increased from 25$ to 56.90$ per share in
only one year. That represents a growth of 128% in a single year. We can conclude that their shares are
in demand in our current market environment. Thus, we can assess that they are very well positioned
in today s competitive environment.

Visual Cliff Summary
Psychologists Eleanor J. Gibson and Richard D. Walk at Cornell University conducted the Visual Cliff
experiment to investigate depth perception in human and animal species. The visual cliff apparatus
allowed them to experimentally adjust the visual, tactical, and other stimuli associated with the
simulated cliff while protecting the experimental subjects from injury. The cliff is created by
connecting a transparent glass surface, which is supported a foot or more above the floor, to a sheet of
patterned material. On one side of the glass, the patterned sheet is placed against the glass, given the
glass a solid look. On the other side, a sheet of the same patterned material is placed on the floor
beneath the glass, creating the visual cliff. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Cognitive theory is based on internal states, such as motivation, decision making, thinking, and
attention. Children show some signs of thinking and decision making during the study; when the
infants were called from the cliff side, they examined the glass by patting it, and even though they feel
the solid glass they still didn t cross to their mothers. They also peered down the glass and backed
away. They didn t simply cross over, they stopped, thought wether this is safe to cross or not, and
made the decision to not cross regardless of the hardness of the glass they touched. This is where the
developmental theory comes. We learn that infants perception of depth develops faster than their
locomotors abilities. Many of the children did supported themselves on the glass as they maneuvered
awkwardly on the bored, and some even backed into the glass while looking at their mothers; if the
glass weren t there, they would have fallen and hurt themselves. I believe that this study will help
people understand that children should not be left alone on the edge of beds or any place

Racial Inequalities
Inequalities Between Whites and African Americans In order for us to work towards a more racially
equal society, we need to know what type of social policies contribute to racial inequalities. Then, we
need to either change those social policies or get rid of them completely. Rothstein focuses mainly on
housing policies, which segregated African Americans from whites. Those social policies did not only
constraint African Americans from buying a house in neighborhoods predominantly white, but it
limited their accessibility to other important resources and services such as employment and
education. This is very similar to today s racial inequalities. According to Rohstein, ... St. Louis was
segregated by interlocking and racially explicit public policies of zoning, public housing, and
suburban finance, and by publicly endorsed segregation policies of the real estate, banking, and
insurance industries (30). Real estate agents and banks contributed to this segregation between whites
and African Americans. As soon as African Americans moved to a predominantly white neighborhood,
whites would pack their things and leave. According to Rothstein, Once [a black family] moved in and
was visible, real estate agents solicited nearby homeowners to sell quickly before an imminent influx
of black buyers caused their homes to lose value (25). This is one of the techniques that real estate
agents used to maintain whites and African Americans segregated. Real estate agents and mortgage

Who Is Ophelia Escapize In Pan s Labyrinth
Pan s Labyrinth and how Escapism can Ruin you. In Pan s Labyrinth, the character of Ophelia
represents how escapism s disconnect from reality might cause damage to relationships and severe
injury or death. Towards the beginning of the story, Ophelia s discovery of the fawn and the revelation
of her being, The daughter of the king of the underworld, shows how she uses escapism as a means of
creating a fictitious world that helps her avoid the new, horrible life that she endures under her
stepfather. However, the adventures that this fantasy sends her on creates a strain in her relationships
with her mother and stepfather, which becomes evident when her mother reprimands her saying, You
have disappointed me, and your father too. Furthermore, when the faun gives her a mandrake root as a
remedy for her mother s illness, it demonstrates how Ophelia uses escapism as an outlet for her fear,
and as a means of feeling like she has some control over whether her mother lives or dies. However,
when the mother burns the mandrake root shouting, Magic does not exist. Not for you, me or anyone

for the children of Britain as Harry Potter and the Philosopher s Stone. Scholastic, Inc. purchased the
American publication rights to the novels, and the first book was renamed Harry Potter and the
Sorcerer s Stone for American readers. Potter fever soon swept the entire world, and Harry s story

popularity among young readers, there have been some who have contested the books, ostracizing
them because they believe the books promote the occult and make witchcraft desirable. Lord
Voldemort, the most powerful and evil dark wizard for one hundred years, is often used as an example
of why people believe that the books entice readers into the world of Satanism and the occult. They
also believe that because Harry sometimes has to lie, cheat, and break school rules, he is not the kind
of hero that children should be reading about (citation?). In The Wisdom of Harry Potter, it is stated
that truth telling, submission to authority, and following the rules are not always the moral thing to do

Rite of Passage Ceremony
RITE OF PASSAGE
It is three days before my initiation ceremony. The day Mama says I become a woman. She is really
happy about it and I m supposed to be, but I m not. I have tried to delay this day for as long as
possible, but this year Papa put his foot down. I am already 17 years old and most girls go through the
ceremony at 14. All the girls in my age group have to go through this rite in order to make them
eligible for marriage. No woman in the village can get married without undergoing the rite of passage.
It is part of our tradition and the elders believe it ensures women do not stray from their marital
homes. They also believe you are unclean without it. People were already starting to whisper about me
as I was the last girl in my age group who not gone through it and my friends tease and look down on
me that I am not yet a woman.
My younger brother, Dide cannot be initiated into the Warrior class because he has an older sister who
is uncircumcised. This is the real reason Papa has refused to listen to me any longer. Dide has come of
age and he doesn t want me to delay his initiation. After my initiation ceremony, I would be getting
married. Papa has already someone picked out. I ve seen him a couple of times, my friends think I m
lucky to be getting married into his family. I don t think anything. Going through the initiation
ceremony and getting married would be the end of schooling for me. I know what is expected of me as
a female but I don t like it. When I told

When Owen follows his mission and goes to the army, John is left without a sense of direction. With
Owen gone, he has no one to tell him what his next move will consist of. He ends up going into
graduate school because he fears the day when he actually has to make a decision about what he will
do for the rest of his life. Technically he does make a decision for the rest of his life by going to school
for a degree in English, but I see this as the easy way out. Owen has no hesitation when it comes to his
future and his decision making: Owen Meany got his scholarship to the University of New Hampshire;
he signed up for the ROTC... This certainty could also stem from Owen s strong relationship with god.
He is gods instrument, making every action meaningful, making every move count. John has a weak
relationship with god and is left doubting the existence of a higher power and a purpose for himself.
The productivity deck is stacked in Owens favor because John has to play his own game; he is not just
a chess piece being directed by God. He has no idea if his next day will be his last or if his next
decision will matter in the least, where as Owen just follows his road map to the date on his grave.

his indecision for the direction of the rest of his life.

Cobra Effect Essay
Have you ever said something with wholly good intentions only to find that you ve accidentally upset
the person you re speaking to? It happens to the best of us, often when it is least expected. What we
are running into are unintended consequences, or unforeseen repercussions, that result from lack of
forethought. In some cases, these repercussions can be worse than the initial problem that was meant
to be solved. The cobra effect is the term used to describe a situation in which a solution only serves to
make a problem worse. As the cobra effect demonstrates, actions can have unintended consequences,
and forethought should be taken to predict and prevent such consequences. Unintended consequences

The streisand effect is an internet phenomenon in which attempting to suppress or cover up
information online causes the spread of said information to increase at a faster rate. This term was
coined in 2003, when singer Barbra Streisand sued a photography website for including pictures of her
cliffside mansion on their website. By raising a fuss, she drew attention to the matter, which only
caused more people to hear about it. The information Streisand tried to suppress exploded across the
internet, completely undermining her efforts and only magnifying the situation(T.C.). The streisand
effect is now a common occurrence on the internet, and deleting negative or unwanted information
usually leads to more issues. This is because the information can saved elsewhere before it is deleted,
and can be re posted by others. Deleting a post can also be seen as confirmation or an admission of
guilt, which can lead to more trouble. This is a case in which a person can either deal with the problem
at hand, or risk aggravating it, which in turn exemplifies that unintended consequences are sometimes

In the play much a do about nothing by Shakespeare Don John is played as the bastard brother of Don

he tells his brother how much he loves him and that after he tells him this news he will trust him more
and will see him as a better person. At this point the audience knows that he is trying to lie his way
into tricking poor Claudio that Hero has been sleeping with men. This makes some audience members
angry and for some others it makes them happy because the climax of the play is about to begin. I
came here to tell you I ll make this short, since she s already been talked about for too long the lady is
unfaithful. Shakespeare deliberately shortens Don John s speeches to not give away a lot of
information about his evil plan so that he leaves the audience questioning. This quotation also shows
the male vs. female honor because Benedick has affairs with many women and no man complains
only Beatrice does, but when Hero is accused of having an affair with another man when she is not
even wedded her wedding would get cancelled. This is because in the 17th century women were

Case Study On Instruction Versus Collaboration
Case Analysis
Instruction versus collaboration
Greg Chappell followed an instruction based coaching style, characterised by an authoritarian,
dogmatic, dictatorial, my way or the highway coaching style, whereas Gary Kirsten followed a
collaborative style, which is more participative and ranges from democratic to laissez faire.
The overall results of a research(titled An Integral Approach to Coaching in Elite Sport ) carried out

players preferred style, with the players preferring less instruction based coaching and more
collaboration (Figure 1).

Performance Focus
A personal coaching focus has its primary focus on the individual as a person, with their performance
as the secondary focus, whilst a performance focus is primarily on sporting performance/behaviour
and/or actions, and secondarily on the individual from whom the performance emanates.
When coaching for mental toughness in cricket, the focus must be extended to include a personal
focus, rather than focusing on performance alone. Gary Kirsten, who represented South Africa in 101
test matches, sums this up; When you walk out in a tight situation on the fifth day of a test match,
what is tested is more the person than his skills (Sunday Times, 2004).
Greg Chappell followed a rigid strategy. Chappell s critics felt that he lacked the people skills and
human touch that were so necessary for a coach to succeed. There was also a feeling that Chappell
was much too interested in preserving his own power equation in the team. Also he was insensitive to
the pertaining team culture. His experimental approach ended up in disturbing the order and

Execut Muscle Longness
During exercise, the muscles work tirelessly in order for the body to be able to work out. After
physical activity, the body usually has acute muscle soreness and delayed onset muscle soreness.
During acute muscle soreness, pain is felt immediately after exercise. For example, if one works out
their arms and back for an hour, they would feel a pain right after they leave the gym. Although it
might be painful, it only lasts for a few minutes. Because the body has an accumulation of acid and
tissue edema, the muscles become sore. After a while, the blood stream clears the acid and edema in
which causes the pain in the muscles to disappear.
On the other hand, delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS), has a longer lasting effect on the muscles.

distribution. 1.1.5 Recommendation
Dentist plays a big role in the distribution of oral care products. Colgate Palmolive should more focus
on distribution of toothpaste in dentists offices.
Colgate Palmolive should focus more strongly on other retail locations, even it adapted intensive
distribution there is still scope of other retail location where small unknown brand capture the market
share.
Colgate could direct market the toothpaste by sending special coupons in the mail to consumers, or by
offering rebates to consumers who purchase other Colgate
Palmolive oral care products.
The toothpaste could be distributed through plastic surgeons because many people who visit a plastic
surgeon are concerned about their appearance, and would likely consider the different options
available to them that will enhance their appearance, such as their teeth.
It could be distributed through make up departments because most people who shop for make up at
large department stores are also concerned with looking their best.
The company can approach the government to distributing the products in military canteen or other
organisation which needs these oral care kind products.

Similarities Between The Chronicles Of Narnia
In the film , The Chronicles of Narnia, depicts a parallel story of Christ s crucifixion and resurrection.
The film displays characters who portrays similar characteristics of those in the Bible. For instance ,
The Witch has an analogous distinction to herself that corresponds to the Devil. The Lion who is
forgiving and sacrifices his life to save Edmund represents a similar characteristic to Jesus dying for
our sins. Aslan, the lion, act similar to Christ which distinguishes him as a Christ like figure. On the
other hand, The Wardrobe portrays a sacredness underworld that is similar to the sacred reality
interpreted from the Bible. The Chronicle of Narnia illustrates the Bible story of how the world was

As Aslan is risen from the dead it shows that if you have not committed any wrongs , you will be
saved , while the ones who have committed wrongs ( like the White Witch) will torture in their
sufferings. The Chronicle of Narnia also portrays sociological ideology. Like we explored in class,
sociological is the means to which we are given social values from a given group/person, that
influences how we view the world.
Lucy first introduced by Mr.Tumnus is influenced by his perception on Narnia and the evil White
Witch. Edmund, however, is encountered by the White Witch who deceives him to believe she is the
good one. The Witch lures him into her powers as she exploits his weakness. Furthermore, the film
presents the life stages in which Peter becomes the Knight of Narnia and Edmund s rite of passage
after committing evil acts with the White Witch. Therefore, both of their encounters influenced their

A Visit From The Goonsquad
In recent years, Pulitzer Prize winning fiction novels clearly differ in theme and style. The 2011
winner, Jennifer Egan s A Visit from the Goonsquad, is a multi faceted, complex narrative focused on
the music industry. In 2013, Adam Johnson s The Orphan Master s Son, a historical fiction novel on
North Korea, took the prize. Though these novels take place in different countries and deal with
diverging topics, they do have one thing in common: in each of these Pulitzer Prize winning novels,
secondary female characters become deified, allowing the reader to attach the sensation of hope onto
them. This occurs in Egan s novel, as Lulu comes to represent the promise of a new generation. The
same phenomenon occurs with Sun Moon in The Orphan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dolly describes her daughter as the rod around which the wires were wrapped, regal, and flushed,
smelling of perfume or freshly baked brownies. (190) Lulu is associated with diction that holds
positive connotations. She holds subtle wisdom for her young age, and all encompassing femininity.
Lulu is the antithesis to other characters in the novel whom we see grow up. Of course, other children
are characterized throughout Sasha s kids, Lou s children, Bennie and his high school clan but Lulu is
the only character we see transition into an adult, without losing her youth. Even Kitty, a symbol of
youth and sensuality, is presented in a vulnerable light as having spidery lines and being ragged (193).
It seems as if this continuous mention of youth is central to Lulu s deification. As an adult, Lulu s
deification is intensified. When Alex meets her, he remarks, The slanted winter sun ignited Lulu s hair,
making a nimbus around her face (341). Here, Alex notices a white cloud forming around Lulu s face,
an image reminiscent of a Saint s aureole depicted in religious iconography. Not only does Lulu
become other worldly in her physical attributes, but in her actions. During the final chapter of the
novel, Alex and Bennie attempt to force Scotty to play music. They are physical unable to contain
him. However,

Cordoba Research Paper
The Great Mosque of Cordoda In Spain, Cordoba was the original center of Muslim culture once the
Umayyads of Spain assumed their title as caliphs and Cordoba became their capital. The Great
Mosque of Cordoba is a hypostyle mosque that may be considered as the purest of all Arabic
architecture and even though the construction of this Mosque is based on a converted Visigoth church
(Burckhardt and Michaud. 132). As other early mosque, the architects reused elements, such as
columns of pre Islamic building to construct the Mosque of Cordoba. However, its renovations

widening the hall by two naves and lengthening it by eight bays. In 961 76, a second expansion of the
mosque was made through the lengthening of the mosque and adding twelve more bays. Furthermore,
the architects started to build the main dome or the present Villaviciosa Chapel in the central nave of

commemorating the spot at Medina, indicating in which direction people should pray (Sayre. 445).

My Experience With The Filipino Community
When I was about a year old, my parents decided to pack up all our things and move out of Mexico.
The decision to leave the country was like many who decide to emigrate from their home. My parents
wanted to provide my sister and I the opportunities they did not have while growing up. But instead of
traveling to the Land of Promises and working for the American Dream my parents moved to the Pearl
of the Orient, the Philippines. I lived in the Philippines from the ages of one to five. My mannerisms,

restaurant that served Filipino cuisine. As soon as I walked in, the atmosphere resembled Manila. The
smell of beef marinating in sauce, the warm compact environment, the man taking orders with what
seemed a legitimate smile. I got excited. I ordered my favorite Filipino dish pansit and sat down. The
Filipino culture is very welcoming. Even as a stranger in a restaurant, I was made to feel like a part of

I Will Take A Sony Dream Machine Model Icf Cs15ip Alarm Clock
Waking up in the morning is a difficult task for some people, whereas for others waking up may seem

at a specific time there was a device invented called the alarm clock. This device was originally
invented by ancient Greek philosophers around 250 B.C. and over the years mechanical alarm clocks
were invented by Levi Hutchins in 1787 (History of Clocks. (n.d.). Retrieved November 6, 2014.),
then came radio alarm clocks invented by James Reynolds (The History of Alarm Clocks

Applying A Gender Based Violence Approach Essay
Applying a gender based violence approach, this paper will explore life realities for a Moroccan
women s center serving women from 18 to 70 years of age, mothers, educated or not, living in a rural
and urban environment and, for too many of them, their horrific predicaments. Primary research
methods will integrate participant observation and semi structured interviews (DeWalt and DeWalt
2002) with females victims of gender based violence (GBV) and the center staff members. This study
aspires to determine what aspects lead Moroccan women to seek assistance, categories of assistance
available, challenges Moroccan women face and future opportunities for recognition and socio legal
support.
Results denote a lack of social support to women victim of violence, lack of social and economic
support for the center we will rest our research on, degraded service capacity, and the practice of
deceit in interactions between women and staff ingrained in a cultural notions of shame. Future
prospects for program development and sustainability will also be discussed. This ethnographic
proposition we will submit hopes to promote a richer understanding of gender based violence in local
contexts through the investigation of women victims experiences of gender based violence in
Moroccan society and how these dramatic encounters impact the reality and capabilities of social

Erica Riemann s Analysis
Historians constantly discuss the establishment of communism in Eastern Europe following World
War II, a major topic being the Soviet Union s occupation of The German Democratic Republic
(GDR). The governing of the GDR by the Socialist Unity Party (SED) is frequently analysed,
particularly operations against any perceived resistance to the stability of a socialist state. Erica
Riemann was one perceived enemy, serving over eight years as a political prisoner after drawing a
bow on a picture of Josef Stalin when she was fourteen, and she provides oral testimony of her
experiences nearly fifty years later (Molloy 2009). This essay argues that the main value of Riemann s

Soviet officials prioritised the establishment of Communist Hegemony in the GDR (Bruce 2003, p. 6)
and therefore allocated vast resources to controlling threats (Bruce 2003, p. 14). The end of World War
II saw eleven internment camps established, intended for Nazis and those against communism (Bruce
2003, p. 6), and from 1945 to 1954, Erica Riemann found herself interned in a number of them
(Molloy 2009, p. 65). We may be aware of GDR paranoia resulting in prosecution of imagined crimes
(Bessel 2011, p. 154), but it is through individual stories that the reality of this comes across. The fact
that a schoolgirl was interrogated, assaulted and sleep deprived for hours in a dungeon for taking
lipstick to a picture of Stalin (Molloy 2009, p. 66) reveals the absurdity and extent of the cruelty that
the SED went to. The details of long nightly interrogations and starvation help us understand how a
normal teenager ended up confessing to being part of Nazi resistance (Molloy 2009, p. 66). It is
through examples of people being mocked, raped, starved, assaulted, threatened and killed that we can
begin to imagine the experiences of prisoners. Recounts of Erica s attempted suicide and the inability
to hold relationships (Molloy 2009, p. 73) create a deeper understanding of the

Church History Notes: Compiled by Dr. Archie Logan Reflecting on the notes of Church History by
Dr. Archie Logan, I am in agreement with the persecution of Christians in the early church as well as
in the church today. In my opinion, Christians have been harassed constantly for their faith, which
leads me to the Book of Psalm 119:86, All your commands are trustworthy; help me, for men
persecute we without cause (NIV). The Christians of the early church (OT) were harassed for asserting
God s truths, commands also adhering to them. There was much suffering endured by the Jews
because of their refusal to embrace idolatry. Looking at this ministry in the world today it s much the
same; Christians standing on the Word of God, living holy are the ones who get passed over, talked

Not only is there the idea that there is a pattern, but also that other disordered eating s have had their
criteria to be discussed. The first commonly thought of is anorexia nervosa. Common between
anorexia and orthorexia is OCD. In which case OCD is the need to control and the sense of
perfectionism. Both of these disordered eating s want to perfected some aspect of their food intake and
the quality of food that they consume. A prevalence in anorexia nervosa is 0.9% in women and 0.3%
in men (Dell Osso et al., 2016). Similarly like anorexia, bulimia is also a well known disordered eating
s. As of 2000, bulimia incidence rate remained stable for the ages 10 19 years old for females in the
UK at 40 per 100,000 person years (Smink et al, 2012). The good news is that bulimia nervosa is
slowing decreasing over time. This could be in part do to the ability to comprehend and discuss what
is considered bulimia. Another disordered eating that has been changed since first establish is
Avoidant and Restrive Food Intake Disorder. Formerly known as selective eating it was often referred
mostly to young children. ARFID is a problem with eating and/or feeding. This can lead to nutritional
deficiency and the lack of energy (Nicely et al, 2014). Such things that people who develop orthorexia

females or males stands out above one another just like orthorexia. There has been studies done to find

The Importance of Accountability in the Army Essay examples
The Importance of Accountability Is so you know where everyone is so if you need a person for
something you will know where to find them. It is also necessary to have accountability to make sure
everyone in your unit is safe and so you make sure they are where they are supposed to be. You also
want your unit to be on standby so they are ready for anything that may happen. It is also needed so
nobody goes UA. When you have accountability it is easier to track down people if you were to need
them for anything. Being accountable means being dependable, showing up to work and to
appointments on time, meeting deadlines, being at the right place and at the right time and doing the
right thing at the right time. It is also to see if everyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There many reasons why accountability is an important part of business. Showing up on time is a very
important thing when it comes to work because if you ever show up late that would be time lost from
the work day or the time you lost you could have been working on something but because you showed
up late that task was never completed on time as needed. When something is not done it affects
everything in the organization. If one thing isn t completed it affects all the other tasks like a chain
reaction. Another reason accountability is needed is so you know where weapons are located. In
leadership roles, accountability is the acknowledgment of responsibility for actions, decisions, and
resulting consequences. Some of those consequences can be loss of pay, loss of rank, or loss of job.
When you say you are going to get something done you are accountable of getting it done no matter
what because you gave your word that you were going to get it done. Whenever you don t keep your
word it makes everyone think you are not reliable. Then none of your peers will come to you for help
because you will not be able to complete the task. Consequences when you do something wrong could
mean that you can lose your job or just get a warning. Whenever you do something wrong it is
possible to correct your mistake if it is possible to make a correction. The ways you can make a
mistake when getting accountability is by not having an up to date muster

first chair, then there was a second in between that I swear lasted for hours, my heart seemed to drop
but also was under attack at the same time. My mind went to chaos. This is silly, I m in sixth grade
and stressing out over this? Life will go on if I don t get it. But if I don t I ll always remember. This

  • 2. Inappropriate Hyponatremia Essay EUVOLEMIC HYPONATREMIA: MECHANISM SYNDROME OF INAPPROPRIATE ANTIDIURETIC HORMONE SECRETION [5,13] SIADH is the most common cause of hyponatremia [13]. It is caused by inappropriate vasopressin secretion either from the pituitary or from the ectopic source independent of the circulatory volume status and serum osmolality resulting in hyponatremia. Also there occurs inappropriate diuresis due to the action of vasopressin in the collecting tubules and its action continues until V2 receptors are down regulated (vasopressin escape) [5]. There are multiple etiological factors as mentioned earlier cause inappropriate ADH secretion. A Schwartz criterion is used for diagnosing SIADH which is mentioned below: Diagnostic Criteria for SIADH:Schwartz diagnostic criteria [5,13] ESSENTIAL CRITERIA  Decreasing measured serum ... • 3. Research Testing the Shot Distance of the Crossbow, the... I am researching this because I am interested in medieval and roman weaponry and how it works so it was a simple choice to make and test different weapons from those eras. I am finding out which shoots the furthest the crossbow, the catapult, or the slingshot and if I do not know how they work, I cannot compare them to each other so I decided to research this. My hypothesis is that the catapult will shoot the furthest and I think that I am right do to previous research by professionals. But in other cases the catapult is made to full size but in this case it is made to a scale factor of 25% of its original size so that might affect the result because in the larger version there is more force on the launcher and in the crossbow there isn t as much tension build up. Crossbow Slingshot Hooke s Law F=KX F=Force K=Constant factor constitutes characteristics of spring and stiffness. X=Distance Hooke s Law is a physics principle the says that the force needed to pull something back in this case by some distance is directly proportional to that distance s is a constant factor that factors in the spring and stiffness. Pulling back on the string creates elastic energy and when the string is released the elastic energy forces the string to go forwards therefore transforming the elastic energy to kinetic energy which transfers into the arrow when the string reach s limit of extension. Catapult The catapult uses centrifugal force to accelerate the projectile toward the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Use and Abuse of Visual Culture in Adult Cartoons The Use and Abuse of Visual Culture in Adult Cartoons The Oxford dictionary defines visual as A9 picture, piece of film, or display used to illustrate or accompany something and culture as The arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively . However there isn t a definition for visual culture in the oxford dictionary. This is because Visual culture is limitless and ever changing which makes it difficult to define. An attempt to define visual culture is a reflection of everyday attitudes, behaviours, ideas and mannerisms on works of art rather than its aesthetic value. Characters such as Micky mouse, Donald duck, Bugs bunny and Daffy Duck were shown on television screens in many homes. These characters and their crazy personas caught the eyes of many children and as they had very little dialogue and simple plots and storylines they were easy enough for children to watch. These Cartoonists created cartoons that shaped what was known as Saturday morning cartoons . There were also a lot of governing bodies such as the Hayes code (1930 to 1968) which kept cartoons innocent and ensured that adult themes were kept out of cartoons, epically those appearing on television, this brought about a decline in adults watching cartoons as most cartoons at the time were too simple minded and not complex enough for adults. However the comic book industry still thrived and was aimed at a slightly older audience. Later on in the 1960 s Hanna Barbera created cartoons such as Scooby doo, the Flintstones and the Jetsons. These cartoons had more dialogue than the average cartoons, contained more clever and witty jokes and were well suited for an adult as well as a younger audience. They focused on the average family and showed some of the issues faced in family life. Some argue that the Flintstones was the first mainstream adult cartoon to go on air. Many details are left for the readers to use their own imagination and advance the story. Even though the story has some elements of a romantic novel, the majority of the concepts are described by the author to be gothic. Suspense, mystery, and darkness are all created when the reader is left to visualise the home for themselves. The author says, We now slowly ascended a drive, and came upon the long front of a house: candlelight gleamed from one curtained bow window; and the rest were dark. (Bronte 82). One single candle light amongst the darkness, immediately creates secrecy and the appearance of a remote location. Bronte advances the idea of darkness, through the secluded location of Thornfield, as one small disappearing candlelight is the only image of lightness for miles. • 6. Analysis Of Francois Hutteau s Great Search For Liberty Francois Hutteau s great search for Liberty Hello my French brothers and sisters! Dark times have befallen our precious land, and pure chaos has ensued. I write to the people in France in hopes of establishing a new land. A land that can be looked upon proudly with eyes of great virtue. In order to achieve our wildest dreams we must sort through the rubbish that has landed us here in the first place. How will we as a society react to the many things that have been dealt to the people of France? Perhaps our great fight ends in bloodshed, and broken promises. Or perhaps we could take heed of the laws and policies our fellow Europeans across the Sea. I had the pleasure of visiting one of the cities in America that the citizens take so much pride in: Boston, Massachusetts. A port town on the North Eastern coast that was a large part of the American Revolution. It was also home to the Notorious Boston Massacre. There are a number of things that I enjoyed about my trip, but pointing out the differences between Boston and France had to be the most delectable part of my trip. The way in which they practice religion is something to behold. Their new Constitution is also no laughing matter, and lastly the many things Americans find fun is mesmerizing, and also repulsive. America is a tremendous place and I cannot wait to guide you through my journey and inferences. The first voyage I made when I got off the boat was directly towards a church. I decided to visit the Old North Church and as I approached I noticed that the brick work seemed to glisten in the sun, and the white interior reminded me of how pure the world can really be. The church practiced Protestantism, and started soon after the War.[1] I admired the way in which the citizens praised God, but I did happen to notice that their practices were rather different from my own. After talking to some of the Americans most had either commented on my accent or expressed their condolences to the revolution. I also asked them about how they worship and how they choose to worship. Many of these American citizens were free to choose what they wanted to worship. As it has been considerably increasing its market reach across Canada; they are considered a direct competitor to Dollarama. On the other hand, Great Canadian Dollar stores are extending their reach in eastern Canada. Additionally, they are very present in the community by offering both charitable and communal support. At last, Dollar Tree is a growing chain of discounted retail stores in the United States. It operates over 4400 retail stores in 48 states of the US and in Canada. Thus, they are ready to expand their customer base into Canada. Also, Dollar Tree offers a much broader range of products compared to Dollarama, for example frozen foods and dairy items. As such, there is a very high competition in the discounted retail stores industry. However, in such a high competitive environment, Dollarama is still able to open over 150 stores in the past four years only. Also, considering their stock trend, their share price had increased from 25$ to 56.90$ per share in only one year. That represents a growth of 128% in a single year. We can conclude that their shares are in demand in our current market environment. Thus, we can assess that they are very well positioned in today s competitive environment. 4. ... Walk at Cornell University conducted the Visual Cliff experiment to investigate depth perception in human and animal species. The visual cliff apparatus allowed them to experimentally adjust the visual, tactical, and other stimuli associated with the simulated cliff while protecting the experimental subjects from injury. The cliff is created by connecting a transparent glass surface, which is supported a foot or more above the floor, to a sheet of patterned material. On one side of the glass, the patterned sheet is placed against the glass, given the glass a solid look. The Cognitive theory is based on internal states, such as motivation, decision making, thinking, and attention. Children show some signs of thinking and decision making during the study; when the infants were called from the cliff side, they examined the glass by patting it, and even though they feel the solid glass they still didn t cross to their mothers. They also peered down the glass and backed away. They didn t simply cross over, they stopped, thought wether this is safe to cross or not, and made the decision to not cross regardless of the hardness of the glass they touched. This is where the developmental theory comes. We learn that infants perception of depth develops faster than their locomotors abilities. Many of the children did supported themselves on the glass as they maneuvered awkwardly on the bored, and some even backed into the glass while looking at their mothers; if the glass weren t there, they would have fallen and hurt themselves. Racial Inequalities Inequalities Between Whites and African Americans In order for us to work towards a more racially equal society, we need to know what type of social policies contribute to racial inequalities. Then, we need to either change those social policies or get rid of them completely. Rothstein focuses mainly on housing policies, which segregated African Americans from whites. Those social policies did not only constraint African Americans from buying a house in neighborhoods predominantly white, but it limited their accessibility to other important resources and services such as employment and education. This is very similar to today s racial inequalities. According to Rohstein, ... St. Louis was segregated by interlocking and racially explicit public policies of zoning, public housing, and suburban finance, and by publicly endorsed segregation policies of the real estate, banking, and insurance industries (30). Real estate agents and banks contributed to this segregation between whites and African Americans. As soon as African Americans moved to a predominantly white neighborhood, whites would pack their things and leave. According to Rothstein, Once [a black family] moved in and was visible, real estate agents solicited nearby homeowners to sell quickly before an imminent influx of black buyers caused their homes to lose value (25). But instead of traveling to the Land of Promises and working for the American Dream my parents moved to the Pearl of the Orient, the Philippines. I lived in the Philippines from the ages of one to five. My mannerisms, my culture, my language was formed by the Filipino community. When people would ask me where I was from or what nationality I was, I would always say I was Filipina. In 2003, my parents decided to leave the Philippines and since then we have ... The architecture of the Filipino businesses were very similar to what I remember in the Philippines, but because the businesses were so sparse I did not feel as if I was in Manila. It wasn t until I walked inside a restaurant that my Little Manila experience started. I walked to the Krystal Cafe. A small restaurant that served Filipino cuisine. As soon as I walked in, the atmosphere resembled Manila. The smell of beef marinating in sauce, the warm compact environment, the man taking orders with what seemed a legitimate smile. I got excited. I ordered my favorite Filipino dish pansit and sat down. The Filipino culture is very welcoming. Even as a stranger in a restaurant, I was made to feel like a part of the community. I walked into Krystal Cafe alone but quickly made company. While I ate my pansit a lady sat down with me and we proceeded to have a conversation. The ladies name was Myrna Alvarez. A twenty two year old Filipina, who moved to New York one year ago. She told me about her life here in Queens. She lives with four other Filipino girls in a house together and she works as a nanny. I want to support for my son, who lives in the Philippines. My aunt lives here and got me a job as a babysitter. I came one year ago, it s really hard not being with him. Well for those people who have a hard time waking up or just wanting to get up at a specific time there was a device invented called the alarm clock. This device was originally invented by ancient Greek philosophers around 250 B.C. and over the years mechanical alarm clocks were invented by Levi Hutchins in 1787 (History of Clocks. (n.d.). • 31. Erica Riemann s Analysis Historians constantly discuss the establishment of communism in Eastern Europe following World War II, a major topic being the Soviet Union s occupation of The German Democratic Republic (GDR). The governing of the GDR by the Socialist Unity Party (SED) is frequently analysed, particularly operations against any perceived resistance to the stability of a socialist state. Erica Riemann was one perceived enemy, serving over eight years as a political prisoner after drawing a bow on a picture of Josef Stalin when she was fourteen, and she provides oral testimony of her experiences nearly fifty years later (Molloy 2009). This essay argues that the main value of Riemann s testimony is an insight into the lengths that the SED went to in order to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Soviet officials prioritised the establishment of Communist Hegemony in the GDR (Bruce 2003, p. 6) and therefore allocated vast resources to controlling threats (Bruce 2003, p. 14). The end of World War II saw eleven internment camps established, intended for Nazis and those against communism (Bruce 2003, p. 6), and from 1945 to 1954, Erica Riemann found herself interned in a number of them (Molloy 2009, p. 65). We may be aware of GDR paranoia resulting in prosecution of imagined crimes (Bessel 2011, p. 154), but it is through individual stories that the reality of this comes across. The fact that a schoolgirl was interrogated, assaulted and sleep deprived for hours in a dungeon for taking lipstick to a picture of Stalin (Molloy 2009, p. 66) reveals the absurdity and extent of the cruelty that the SED went to. The details of long nightly interrogations and starvation help us understand how a normal teenager ended up confessing to being part of Nazi resistance (Molloy 2009, p. 66). It is through examples of people being mocked, raped, starved, assaulted, threatened and killed that we can begin to imagine the experiences of prisoners. Recounts of Erica s attempted suicide and the inability to hold relationships (Molloy 2009, p. 73) create a deeper understanding of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Dr. Archie Logan Church History Essay Church History Notes: Compiled by Dr. Archie Logan Reflecting on the notes of Church History by Dr. Archie Logan, I am in agreement with the persecution of Christians in the early church as well as in the church today. In my opinion, Christians have been harassed constantly for their faith, which leads me to the Book of Psalm 119:86, All your commands are trustworthy; help me, for men persecute we without cause (NIV). The Christians of the early church (OT) were harassed for asserting God s truths, commands also adhering to them. There was much suffering endured by the Jews because of their refusal to embrace idolatry. Looking at this ministry in the world today it s much the same; Christians standing on the Word of God, living holy are the ones who get passed over, talked about also treated badly due to their faith also those proclaiming the gospel (Logan 1). ... Showing up on time is a very important thing when it comes to work because if you ever show up late that would be time lost from the work day or the time you lost you could have been working on something but because you showed up late that task was never completed on time as needed. When something is not done it affects everything in the organization. If one thing isn t completed it affects all the other tasks like a chain reaction. Another reason accountability is needed is so you know where weapons are located. In leadership roles, accountability is the acknowledgment of responsibility for actions, decisions, and resulting consequences. Some of those consequences can be loss of pay, loss of rank, or loss of job. When you say you are going to get something done you are accountable of getting it done no matter what because you gave your word that you were going to get it done. Whenever you don t keep your word it makes everyone think you are not reliable. Then none of your peers will come to you for help because you will not be able to complete the task. Consequences when you do something wrong could mean that you can lose your job or just get a warning.
