Essay on Mozart s Sonata k331
Mozart s Sonata k331
The first movement of Sonata K331 is comprised of a theme, six variations and a coda. The theme
comprises of 18 bars: four times four bar phrases with an extension tacked onto the end. Mozart
followed this strict binary theme but this does not mean that the music is at all predictable; he uses
different techniques to bring the best out of this form, as detailed later. The extension is an example of
Mozart surprising the listener and enhancing the journey to the end of the theme. Each of the groups
of four bars ends with a cadence. This is periodic phrasing, one of many signatures of galant musical
style (also known as Viennese classical music) that had its emphasis on ... Show more content on

This could be countered by contrasting the first movement to the radically different form later in the
piece and by pointing out that the use of the two bar extension was unusual and Mozart added this
primarily to avoid becoming too predictable.
A piece lacking in continuity may also have several ideas that may only appear for short periods in the
piece or not work well together. However, Mozart uses the same simple melodic ideas throughout this
movement that does provide continuity. He achieves this through using the melody within different
textures and not using much counterpoint at all.
Next is the question of tonal variety Mozart s use of chords and shape in the piece. There is a good
argument for the lack of tonal variety in the piece in the whole Andante only one type of chromatic
chord is used (in bar 12 of variations 1 4). Also, Mozart s reliance on the tonic and dominant chords is
evident; in the theme, over 75% of the chords are in the tonic (A major) or the dominant (E major).
However, as the variations progress, the listener can hear plenty of tonal structure to ward off
criticism. Right from the beginning of Variation 1 (bar 19) the theme is decorated in the right hand
with semi tonal appoggiaturas as well as contrasting semi quaver octaves in bar 23. There are many
tonal marks in the piece

My Father Essay
Our world is filled with so many different types of people. As life goes on, people come and go just
like you pass cars on the highway. Some grow old while others die young. I have met so many
incredible and unbelievable people over the years. However, there is one person who stood out to me
above others, my father. He was someone like no other person could be. My father helped me through
everything. It is very heart breaking to say I no longer can go to him for anything, but I know he is
watching me from above. I would do anything to be able to talk to him again. My father impacted my
life tremendously like no other person has before. In the beginning, my father was a man who worked
his whole entire life, even up to a week before he passed away. He was very determined, smart, and
indescribable. He was someone who would take his own life for someone else and helped everyone he
met. All of the memories I have made with my father is significant to me. I have cherished each and
every one, whether it was good or bad. Losing someone is hard and your life completely changes.
Strengthening my faith in God has helped me the most through this tough time. No one said life was
going to be easy, but the bumps in life lead you to become a stronger person. Since my father has
passed away, he has made me change the way I look at life. Never take anything for granted and
always try your very best. If you set your mind to something, you will become successful. When I was

Essay about Phar Mor Inc Case Study

The Case of Phar Mor Inc
ACCT 525
October 31, 2012
Case Summary
The case of Phar Mor Inc was one of the biggest pre Enron frauds that have been uncovered. Phar Mor
Inc established in 1982 Phar Mor was a small little known discount drugstore. Phar Mor became well
known for offering medications at a 25 40% discount rate compared to your normal pharmacy store
prices. Phar Mor s first six years of existence seemingly were fraud free and saw the company grow at
a decent pace for their field. By 1987 Phar Mor almost had 100 stores and was expanding even more
rapidly at this point.
The first hint of fraud came up and was discovered being a billing type scheme ... Show more content

At the time of discovery Phar Mor was overstated by over a $150 million dollars and had no other
choice but to file bankruptcy.
Could SOX have prevented the Phar Mor fraud? How? Which specific sections of SOX?
During the time period that the Phar Mor fraud took place it was one of the most elaborate frauds of
the 1980 s so could SOX prevented the fraud? The answer is debatable because of the extent that Phar
Mor went to cover up the fraud it may have taken several years still to uncover it however, in the long
run I do believe SOX would have prevented the fraud from lasting almost a full decade without being
detected, and would not have been uncovered had it not been for a whistle blower. I think the most
important sections of SOX that would have helped uncover the fraud at Phar Mor are as follows
Section 203 Which deals with the auditors and any possible conflict of interest if they had worked
with Phar Mor in the last calendar year they would have not been able to be the same auditors doing
final audits of the company.
Section 206 Which states that any auditor who had previously worked for the firm and now works for
Phar Mor would cause the firm to not be able to have Phar Mor as a client. Phar Mor had 3 former
employees of the audit firm who worked for them which allowed them the knowledge to know that the

Evaluation Of A Microcontroller Based Three Phase...
Career Episode 1
Introduction
This career episode is the creation of my thesis during my final year in engineering. The project is
called Microcontroller Based Three Phase Induction Motor Controls . This is a partial fulfillment for
my bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering at Mindanao University of Science and Technology.
This project commenced on June 2011 and ended on March 2012. I was under the supervision of Engr.
Reuel C. Pallugna, one of the instructors in the Electrical Engineering department.
Background
CE 1.1 My main objective was to create a speed and forward reverse control for an induction motor
that can be programmed and can be accessed using the computer in the cheapest but efficient way. My
project is composed of electrical and electronic components. The brain of the prototype comes from
the program of a microcontroller. Most of the assembly of the electrical and electronic components
and the creation of the program are done in the electrical laboratory. Economy is an important factor
in my study. One of its advantages over the commercially available variable frequency drive (VFD) is
it is more economical and can be programmed based on the user s preference without sacrificing
accuracy and efficiency. CE 1.2 It took me 9 months to complete my prototype. Every month, my
thesis adviser checked and tracked the progress of my project. I did the research and the creation of
my prototype during weekdays and I did the technical writing of my thesis during

Laertes Foil Of Hamlet
Hamlet is a play by William Shakespeare that follows Hamlet as his father is murdered by his uncle
Claudius, who marries Hamlet s mother and claims the throne. Hamlet takes a very deliberate and
pensive approach to gaining revenge. In this slow process, he accidentally murders Polonius, thinking
him to be the King eavesdropping. This leads to the wrath of Laertes, who takes a very different
approach to revenge. Through Laertes foil of Hamlet, the futility of passionate revenge is revealed.
Both Laertes and Hamlet experience similar events in their lives. Both men lose their father to murder.
Both men know who murdered their father, and both men desire revenge. Laertes exclaims that he will
be revenged / Most throughly for [his] father. (4.5.153 154). Likewise, Hamlet vows to Revenge his
[father s] foul and most unnatural murder. (1.5.31). A strong foil is established in the unusual yet
identical situation they each face. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hamlet plots, but does not take action. Even when he is presented with an opportunity to kill his father
s murderer while he is praying (3.3.77), Hamlet does not take advantage of it. Hamlet is aware of his
own inaction and calls himself a rogue and peasant slave (2.2.577) for being unable to avenge his
father while even an actor in a fiction, in a dream of passion (2.2.579) could force tears in his eyes,
distraction in his aspect, [and] / A broken voice... / all for nothing (2.2.582 584). In contrast, Laertes
immediately acts upon learning of his father s murder without any sort of plan in place. Rather than
preoccupying himself with details, Laertes simply states Let come what comes

Southern Gothic Lit In Fried Green Tomatoes
How Southern Gothic Lit. in Fried Green Tomatoes helps you find your inner Tawanda Southern
gothic lit is a writing genre from the south, which means that stories that are written under this format
usually focus on grotesque themes. The writing usually focuses in characters that are in pain or that
aren t okay. The setting of a story usually takes place in a gloomy environment and it relies on ironic
or unusual events. For example in Desiree s baby the writer makes it seem like the girl is the one that s
not full white and it causes her pain seeing that her husband doesn t lover her or their baby because
she is not full white, but in reality he s the one that s not full white, and the pain he caused her could

element of outsider, sense of place, and violence. Fried Green Tomatoes is a good example of southern

Candles In Medieval Times
Ever wonder how lights came to be medieval times? Well you ll learn about how chandlers made this

tallow and the wax. Their was no heaters and at night there was no light switch to flip on so the flame
was used to keep warm and at times help see when the eye couldn t. Similar to other working
european people of this time, most chandlers lived within towns close by or over their workshops.

Cotton strands were weaved then submerge in tallow, left to be cooled, then repeated being dunk until
the wanted size. Tallow kept a great amount of smell of animal through the making and whenever the
candle was burned. This candle looked like dark yellow. They were usually sold by weight in
bundles. In addition these candles were brighter when lighten. So tallow was thought to be less
profitable compared to beeswax materials. Although tallow candles were refrained to most people, the
product was in big demand.
Wax candles had little odor or smoke when burned. They were favored to those who could get them.
The wealthy cathedral required to have these type of candles since they were one of the largest
purchasers. The making of these candles gave great business. The process to making this was similar
to making the tallow candles, just not the stinky odor. Even beekeepers were sometime know to the
candles. Whenever they retained bees they lived close enough to keep an I on the hives but also close
to town
There were two guilds one was for the wax chandlers another was for the tallow chandlers. Tallow
chandlers worked with skinners and butchers.Making candles, was heavily influenced. It even became

Forensic Investigations
Most law enforcement agencies require their candidates to hold an associate s or bachelor s degree, the
most suitable areas of study are in forensic sciences and crime scene investigations. Most candidates
seek their education with schools that have a criminal justice department which offers degrees with a
concentration in forensics and crime scene investigations. A criminal justice degree provides a course
of study that covers three main areas: forensic science, technology, and law enforcement.
On a regular day, a forensics investigator will arrive at the place of the crime and assess the scene. He
or she will gather evidence, take measurements and pictures of the crime scene for later reference.
They will test and analyze all the evidence to see how each piece connects to the larger picture. Lastly,

because it opened my eyes to reading books. My original opinion about books are that they are
pointless to read and a waste of my time. I could not have been more wrong. Before taking the class I
would not want to read more than a paragraph of any kind of story. During the class, I started reading
the assigned stories and poems. I found that quite a few of them are interesting and I realized reading
books are like watching television without having actors acting out parts, it s left for our imagination. I

Who Is Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close
The film Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close written by Eric Roth is centered around the events that
happened on 9/11. The film follows a young boy named Oskar, who lost his beloved father in the
attacks. He finds a key in his father s closet and ventures out into the city to find who it belongs to.
During this adventure Oskar attempts to find closure and shows his true emotions. The title Extremely
Loud and Incredibly Close is used to represent how close Oskar was to finding the owner of the key,
Oskar s relationship with his father, as well as Oskar s emotional state during the film.
Incredibly close is used to describe how close Oskar was to finding what the key he found in his father
s closet belong to. Soon after Oskar finds the key he is in a way forced by his Asperger s syndrome to
find who or what the key belongs to because he cannot handle anything not having an answer. The

every person with the last name Black in New York and go visit them to inquire about key. The first
place Oskar ended up going was to the house of Abby Black, who similar to him was going through a
tough time. He asked her about the key, but she said it was not hers and did not know what it belonged
to. He talks to her in order to comfort her and as he is doing this William Black walks by. This is not

Our Journey through the City of Paris at Night
Paris is a beautiful city during the day, but at night, it changes. The first thing that is seen are all the
lights from the shops, buildings and streetlights. These lights brighten up Paris and give it a different
but just as beautiful perspective at night. The Eiffel Tower, one of the top attractions in Paris that
tourists come to see can be described as an iron, lace work of art, and the most recognized structure in
the world, and at night with the glow of its lights, it stands out like a guiding lighthouse. We could see
this beautiful tower wherever we stood day or night. My choir group was invited to sing in some of
the cathedrals in Paris. One night after we had a concert and had dinner, our tour guide gave us an
option of either staying on the bus or getting off and taking a tour down the Seine River to see the
Eiffel Tower at night. If we should choose this option, we needed to find a different way back to the
hotel as the bus driver was not going to come back for us. My family and a few others chose to take
the tour down the river. On the boat, we could see different buildings, museums and the Eiffel Tower.
On the tour, we also passed under the famous bridges in Paris. Two of the buildings I remember
viewing were the Louvre, and Norte Dame. From the boat, I could also see the Louvre pyramid which
sits in the courtyard of the Louvre Palace. The Louvre Pyramid is a large glass and metal pyramid,
surrounded by three smaller pyramids. The

The Id, Ego and Superego Shown in Frankenstein and Dr....
Frankenstein: the Modern Prometheus by Mary Shelley and The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr.
Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson both show Freud s ideas of Id, Ego and Superego as well as of innate
desire. Frankenstein: the Modern Prometheus shows Freud s stages of psychosexual development.
Collectively both novels should be considered Freudian through these ideas. Jekyll and Hyde works as
a symbolic portrayal of the goodness and evil that resides in equal measure within the soul of a man. It
pre empted Freudian psychoanalysis by twenty five years and yet is similar to some of his theories. In
Frankenstein both the monster and Victor exemplify Freud s developmental stages.

It is all at an end. And indeed he does not want my help; you do not know him as I do; he is safe, he is
quite safe; mark my words, he will never more be heard of (Stevenson 66).
Despite saying this Jekyll still succumbs to his Id and Hyde is drawn out again. Jekyll knows of the
evil that comes out when he transforms into Hyde. Jekyll says This, as I take it, was because all
human beings, as we meet them are commingled out of good and evil: and Edward Hyde alone in the
ranks of mankind, was pure evil (Stevenson 108). Here Jekyll clearly states that he knows Hyde is evil
yet he still cannot overpower his Id and then his Superego is overcome. By turning into Hyde, Jekyll
feels free and can do whatever he wants without the slightest hesitation. Following his innate desires
Hyde murders Sir Danvers Carew and tramples a young girl. These actions are done through the Id
and even though Jekyll is civilized law abiding man once the Id has taken over and he transforms into
Hyde, his dark side is unleashed. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are but one; one body but two conflicting
characters, the good and evil. In Frankenstein: the Modern Prometheus we see the monster as the
outward expression of Victor s Id or his demoniacal passions. Freud believed that personality develops
through a series of childhood stages during which the pleasure seeking energies of the id become
focused on certain behaviors. These childhood stages are known as the psycosexual developmental
stages.

Casablanca, And The Themes Of The Movie Casablanca
In the movie Casablanca two characters Rick and Ilsa are showing a great love that is under the

for a very long time, and there is a third person in between. On top of that, the third person is the
leader of Czech disobedience, and the husband of Ilsa: Victor. Moreover, the only person that can help
him to run away from Casablanca is Rick. As it seems, this plot is very complicated.
One of the themes that are being explored in the movie is love. Rick Blaine was the holder of Rick s

Toward the start of the film, the bigger part of the scenes and shots were brighter than when the film
came towards the end where they were darker. There was a scene near the completion of the film in
Rick s bistro where Victor Laszlo was taking asylum after the gathering was assaulted. The scene
inside the bistro was during the evening and it had a completely calm lighting. The show of the film
was being assembled gradually through the start up till the finish of the motion picture. The obscurity
of the film builds the dramatization and the stress of the watchers more. The shots towards the finish
of the film turn out to be more outrageous because of the hole among uncommon parts of the shots.
This light and shadow impact additionally helped in raising the stress because of the reasonable
brilliant lights and profound dull shades. Against the light of the foundation, there was Captain

does not even look edible. The entire fruit resembles a dirty old football, except that durian weighs

I dreamed of living in a big house like his, with nice new furniture. I wanted my parents to be just like

did Richie come home to an empty house. He always joyfully greeted his mother after school by

If I could not have all of this, I decided, I would settle for merely hanging out with the white,
American crowd. After all, Richie Cunningham hung out with white guys at Al s Cafe. To be like
Richie Cunningham, I concluded, was to be American.
Sometimes, after watching Happy Days, I would pull a chair into the cramped little bathroom in our

Paris Ferrari Research Paper
Early in the morning yesterday, bodies of the banished Romeo montague, lady Juliet Capulet, and
Count Paris Ferrari were found in the Capulet tomb all reported to be dead. Early Saturday morning
watchmen were alerted about a fight happening close to the Capulet tomb between Romeo Montague,
and Paris Ferrari. When watchman came to the scene they found the dead bodies of Paris Ferrari lying
dead in the tomb along with Romeo found dead beside Juliet. Juliet was found with stab wounds and
newly dead. The watchman believe Romeo killed Paris with his sword and then killed himself with
poison due to the traces of poison on his lips. Paris Ferrari page was on scene and able to comment I
was their, Paris was planting flowers on the Capulet tomb when the vile Romeo came to desecrate the
tomb. Paris s love for Juliet made him stand up to Romeo and a fight ensued, that is when I went to
call the watchman. The Prince was able to comment and said This is a very sad time for both families,
and a very tragic event for our city. They were all very young and had bright futures ahead of them.
From the friars story we believe that the friar gave Juliet a potion to make her seem dead so that she
wouldn t have to marry Paris. He told us that he secretly married Romeo and Juliet and that they loved
each other. He sent a letter to Mantua where romeo was exiled to unfortunately the letter was never
received by Romeo and because of that he came here to kill himself and that was when the fight
between Paris and romeo happened and then romeo committed suicide beside his wife Juliet before
she woke up and then killed herself with a dagger. Romeo also brought a letter with him to send to his

Amazon s Diversification Strategy Analysis
Amazon s diversification strategy Diversification strategies involve broadening the scope of an
organization across different products and market sectors. It requires an organization to explore new
experiences and knowledge outside its existing markets and products (Business Case Studies).
Strategic management is a business concept that consists of strategy analysis, creation,
implementation and monitoring, used by organizations in order to achieve and maintain a competitive
advantage (as cited by Jurevicius, 2013). The following parts discuss Amazon s strategy with a focus
on the company s competitive advantage and its customers. Amazon s Global Strategy Amazon has
been able to maintain sustainable competitive advantage because the company has adopted cost
leadership, differentiation and growth strategies. Cost Leadership Low cost leadership is pursued by
Amazon by differentiating itself primarily on the basis of price. Amazon s goal is to become customer
centric, aiming to offer a wide range of products with lower prices and convenience to its customers. It
can be seen that the company believes offering low prices and focusing on customers are fundamental
to Amazon s success. Over the time, Amazon seeks to mitigate the costs in order to lower the prices
through achieving higher sales volumes. The company also finds many ways to negotiate to obtain
better terms with their suppliers, and achieving better operating efficiencies. Amazon always ensures
that they maintain

Treatment Plan For A Post Traumatic Stress Disorder And...
Intervention Explanation The treatment plan designed for Clarisse Precious Jones was created to
address her symptoms associated with her post traumatic stress disorder and Binge eating disorder.
This treatment plan includes four goals and four interventions, that are unique to Precious s specific
needs. The long term goal of this treatment plan is to help learn to manage symptoms associated with
PTSD in order to function in daily activities. The symptoms that are being treated through this
individualized treatment plan related to post traumatic stress disorder are: dissociative reactions,
irritable and aggressive behavior, concentration problems, and trauma related external reminders. The
first goal is in place to assist Precious in learning to eliminate intrusive memories, a notable feature of
memory in PTSD is the reliving experiences or flashbacks to the trauma (Berwin, 2003, p. 340), and
addressing causes of these memories through the intervention of prolonged exposure. In addition, the
second goal that is being implemented, preventing and addressing distortions, is being addressed
through prolonged exposure. This technique is a general treatment strategy for reducing anxiety that
involves confronting situations, activities, thoughts, and memories that are feared and avoided even
though they are not inherently harmful. (Foa, 1998, p. 65). The flashbacks and distortions that
Precious experiences are being addressed through prolonged exposure, due the fact that it

Patsy Ramsey Case
Based on the research I conducted on the Ramsey case I would have to conclude the Patsy Ramsey is
the one that killed her daughter. Here s why I focus on Patsy Ramsey. First, the ransom note was
found in the kitchen where Patsy went first thing every morning to fix herself a cup of coffee. How
would a killer know this is where she would be going to first?
Second, the ransom note was written on a notepad the Ramseys had in their house along with using a
pen they had as well. If a kidnapper already knew they were going to kidnap someone, they should
have already written the note out or typed the note instead of physically writing the note. The
kidnapper knew they would have been taking JonBenet, so they would have been thoroughly
prepared. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ramsey, but as the note drags on, he is then referred to as John. That makes it much more personal
and would be someone that knows him. I can t see a foreign faction calling him by his first name.
Fifth, the note was also long for a ransom note. Usually a ransom note is very short and to the point
such as give us this amount of money or the person dies if you don t do exactly as I say. There was
also a practice note found. What kind of kidnapper practices their ransom note at the scene? You
would have to feel extremely comfortable to know that no one in the house would wake up and catch
you in the act of writing a 3 page ransom note, much less write a practice note first.
Sixth, the ransom note also stated to not have anyone in the house contact the authorities or talk to
anyone about the case or JonBenet would die. However, Patsy Ramsey did call the police and invited
friends and family over to discuss the case. If they did this, their daughter would be beheaded. But yet,
JonBenet was found strangled and beaten which is far from a beheading.
Seventh, there was no forced entry into the house which means it would possibly have been someone
from inside the house or someone that had access into the house to have committed the

Machiavelli s Republic
State Structure
Simply put, for democracy to exist the state must be accordingly structured with principles of
democracy. The key distinction between democracies and republics is within the limits placed on the
state by the law, especially with concern for minority rights. Both systems generally use
representational voting that often takes place in legislatures/parliaments. In a republic, a constitution
will guarantee protection for individual rights that cannot be restrained by the government. By
contrast, in a pure democracy the majority cannot be restrained in this manner and may, in fact, force
its ideals on the minority. The most successful and ideal type representational republic is that of the
Romans, which Machiavelli holds to a high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These policies can be useful for future republics by also reducing them to their origins. Without
constant renovation, they would not be able to last. Reverting to original principles is only possible
through either external events or according to their own intrinsic good sense (III I). Thus for
Machiavelli, comparing a states modern affairs with that of its ancient is the best means by which to
draw political knowledge from them. True political liberty could only come from a rehabilitation of
states standards. Because a republic is intended to preserve liberty and use it to promote general
wellbeing, it is critical to regain freedom as soon as possible. Desperate times such as war, natural
disasters, etc. always lead to a degree of degeneration, and so it is critical to adjust the government and
its policies in order to regain what has been lost (I I, II). Ultimately, the structure of the Roman
republic and Machiavelli s favorability of it is what distinguishes his true republican nature. As he
advocates for a distribution of power rather than for it to be wholly vested in the people, it can be
discerned that modeling a state after a Republic is the superior means by which to

Genetic Modification In The Film Gattaca
The 1997 film Gattaca, explores the future genetic manipulation of genes, to create the perfect human
. Gattaca was directed by Andrew Niccol. Niccol tried to capture the not too distant future setting to
present his perception of the future. Genetic modification is somewhat of a hot topic around the U.S.
today, leaving several people in question. Will this cause an even greater social class divide amongst
societies? Is this an opportunity that will be offered to anyone? What is the purpose of creating a
perfect human? All questions aside one cannot deny the leaps and bounds that have been made in
technology thus far. This is taking us, as humans, to new heights. Gattaca raises the question of
whether genetic modification is ethnically moral, but also offers a great prediction to the future world
of science. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Heavy Metal Concentrations On Soil Samples
Heavy metal concentrations in the soil samples taken from each of the six sampling sites are shown in
Table 1. A clear gradient of element concentrations in the soils was observed among the study sites,
especially for Cd. Metal concentration varied significantly among sample sites; Cd (H = 16.596, p =
0.005) had the highest significant differences among the sites, whereas Zn (H = 15.409, p = 0.009) had
the lowest significant differences. Concentrations of Cd, Pb, Cu, and Zn in the soils from S1, S2, and
S3 (distances of 1 2 km from the industrial area) were 4 35 times, 7 27 times, 2 6 times, and 3 6 times
higher than those from S4, S5, and S6 (distances of 4 10 km from the industrial area), respectively (U
test, p ≤ 0.05). Cadmium concentration ranged from a low of 1.9 mg/kg (S6) to a high of 67.5 mg/kg
(S1), Pb concentration ranged from a low of 6.0 mg/kg (S6) to a high of 160.2 mg/kg (S1), Cu
concentration ranged from a low of 51.3 mg/kg (S4) to a high of 292.0 mg/kg (S1), and Zn
concentration ranged from a low of 98.2 mg/kg (S6) to a high of 605.0 mg/kg (S2). Pollution zones
with high metal concentrations in soil and biota are often found near industrial areas (Dudka et al.
1996). It should be noted that the predominant wind direction in our study area is northerly, resulting
in comparatively high levels of soil contamination in areas south of the industrial complex.
Concentrations of Cd, Cu, and Zn in the highly polluted sites exceeded the threshold values (3 mg/kg

Olaudah Equiano Influence
Luck. If anyone had luck, it was Olaudah Equiano. Olaudah lived through slavery, shipwrecks, and
still wound up being a free educated author. He wrote a book that was the first of its kind and affected
many people in many ways. He used his life and mishaps to influence and help people. There are
many things to know about Olaudah: early life, travel, and the making of his legacy.
Olaudah was born in West Africa, in 1745, in the village of the Igbo tribe, where his father was the
chief. Recent scholars think that he might of been born in the New World instead of Africa (Foner,
page 130 ). When he was 11 he was kidnapped by slave traders along with some of his family. At that
point, he was forced into the Atlantic Slave Trade and was considered a slave. He was then sent to
Barbados. Still traveling in the slave trade system, he went to Virginia (the English colony where most
of the tobacco was grown). From Virginia, Olaudah was sold to a British sea captain. The British sea
captain changed his name from Olaudah Equiano, to Gustavus Vassa (one of the many names people
gave him in his life). While Gustavus was with the sea captain, he was enrolled in an English school
where he learned how to read and write, which he used greatly later on is his life. Also, with the sea
captain, he started to travel the world.
Olaudah traveled numerous places many of which was with with the British sea captain. According to
the Olaudah Equiano Biography, Equiano traveled extensively. He

The United States Vs. The Treaty Of Versailles
The United States vs. the Treaty of Versailles
The Treaty of Versailles was a peace settlement between Germany and the Allied Powers signed on
June 28, 1919. The Treaty of Versailles officially ended World War 1. However, since the conditions in
the treaty were so punitive towards Germany many believe that it was also partly responsible for
starting World War 2. Before the treaty was signed President Woodrow Wilson and his opponent in
congress, Senator Henry Cabot Lodge debated over the membership in the League of Nations and
about the mortality of the treaty. Many debated that the United States should have signed the Treaty of
Versailles and joined the League of Nations while others oppose both the treaty and the alliance. I
believe that the United States did the right thing by rejecting the Treaty of Versailles, and avoiding the
entangling commitments overseas which the alliance would have brought upon us.
Correspondingly, Senator Henry Cabot Lodge also held an anti Versailles position. Senator Lodge
viewed the treaty as suspicious and stated more than once that a matter this important should not be
rushed. My one desire is that not only the Senate, which is charged with responsibility, but that the
press and the people of the country should investigate every proposal with the utmost thoroughness
and weigh them all carefully before they make up their minds (Document 1). Lodge acknowledges
that treaties are long and serious documents pertaining to the nation and

The Pros And Cons Of Criminal Justice
The United States of America relies on due process of law to ensure equal protection of life, liberty
and property to all citizens. Police officers work tirelessly to accommodate regulations adopted to
ensure only criminals are convicted. These restrictions have been part of the United States since the
Bill of Rights was generated in 1791, but in the 1960s, as Law and Order, the view that crime must be
dealt with harshly to deter citizens from breaking the law, the Supreme Court was forced to decide the
constitutionality of the rules of interrogation. In the Sixties, crime was escalating and public safety
was becoming a growing concern; police began to treat suspects harsher in an effort to raise
conviction rates and promote public safety. In 1966, however, the jurisprudence of the entire US
justice system changed when the court of Chief Justice Earl Warren was presented with the case
Miranda v Arizona. In this case, the majority decision ruled to protect suspects rights, extending
equality of protection regardless of legal knowledge or background, not only highlighting the trends of
human rights and equality in the Sixties, but also the tensions between criminal rights versus public
safety, demonstrating a shift from the conservative law and order jurisprudence to more liberal
methods of interrogation and conviction. On March 2, 1963, Ernesto Miranda kidnapped a woman
(whose name was not released to the press for her safety), drove her into the desert, and raped

Significance
The Battle of San Jacinto resulted in the capture of Santa Anna, which allowed for the signing of the

How The Key Traits Of Clara Barton Has Helped To...
Persistence, passion, and patience were three of the key traits that allowed Clara Barton to
revolutionize the way people around the world receive help in times of need by helping to create the
American Red Cross. Whether, it is soldiers on the battlefield or a hurricane that has ruined tons of
cities she was willing to help no matter the cost or risk. After years of working upfront during the
battles of the civil war to help the wounded soldiers, she once said, I saw many things that I did not
wish to see and I pray God I may never see again (Clara Barton). For this reason, it is to say that her
selflessness helped to save numerous lives. Transforming America by becoming part of the

those wounded soldiers on the battlefield. Once again, she defied the many expectations by becoming

Theodore Roethke s Root Cellar
Theodore Roethke s poem Root Cellar was the inspiration for my poem Homecoming. Root Cellar by
Theodore Roethke was one of his greenhouse poems, which he wrote during his youth while he spent
time with his father in the large greenhouse they owned. I was captivated by his lyric poetry because
of its strong rhythm and natural imagery. Theodore uses phonic repetition and alliteration to set the
tone of the poem. I believed to that the succeeding images of death and decay, ws meant to give
readers a sense of uneasiness and foreboding. I created Homecoming by rewriting Root Cellar and
changing all of its original nouns and adjectives to ones of my own. By doing so I was able to create

I knew that the poem needed revision because I didn t know what to title it, which meant that I didn t
really know what my own poem was about. After re reading it I decided that it could help if I added
another stanza that I could use to introduce a main character and a subtle tones of love. I also want
more in depth with setting details and used metaphors/figurative language to convey the intense bond
between the human main character and the inanimate subject. The poem is about a sick elderly woman
that returns home to die peacefully in the place she is most comfortable, her childhood bedroom,
where she experienced some of the most substantial experiences of her young life. I imagined that
when she returned to the house, it was worn down and vacant because no one wanted to live there in
the condition that it was in. I also imagined that she empathized with the house and her bedroom
because it was as tired as she was. I wanted to convey the peace that she felt standing amongst the
memories in the room and died tranquilly and then the room and house collapsed with her in it. As if it
was waiting for hr to come home to give up life, thus I named the poem

RELIGIOUS ASPECT OF PURITANISM In Mrs. Mary Rowlandson s Narrative of the Captivity and

instances throughout the narrative. Puritanism in this case refers to the strong beliefs that are evident
in the narration pertaining to religion. The narrator, Mrs. Mary Rowlandson, has strong religious
beliefs. A good example of a religious aspect of puritanism is Mrs. Mary Rowlandson s belief in the
power of God to protect. She argues out that in every single happening, God is concerned and He is

My Experience In Canada
Ever wonder what walking the Great Wall of China would be like? Ever dreamed of feeling the fresh
cold air of Canada? What s it like eating baguettes in France next to the Eiffel Tower? Traveling is a
popular dream among all of us, and making it a reality is a great learning experiences! I visited
Canada in April of 2017, and had a personal emotional attachment to the culture and the whole
environment, and the people I traveled with could say the same. Traveling is truly the most exciting
part in a person s life because it makes their dreams of meeting different cultures a reality and gives
them perspectives of seeing the world differently.
Traveling is an exciting learning experience. When people want to learn a different language, traveling
a different country will tremendously help them learn it. People usually learn their first language by
hearing it all the time by their family. When foreigners go to a different country, assimilating to the
language is much easier if they continue to hear it. When I visited Canada, and heard Canadian French
on the radio, in the streets, and in their music, it felt wonderful that I could understand what they were
saying and it made it easier actually processing the beautiful language. I always wondered why I
couldn t learn French that well in the United States of America, it s because I was so used to hearing
English all the time. This proves that traveling helps people learn languages better because hearing
that second language all

Balanced Diet
A balanced diet is one that provides a good intake of energy and nutrients for maintenance of the body
and for the good health. A diet can easily support normal body functioning, yet may not be a balanced
diet. An ideal human diet contains fat, protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, water and fibre all in
correct proportions. These proportions vary for each individual because everyone has different type of
metabolic style and levels of activity.
Malnutrition results from an unbalanced diet, this can be due to an excess of some dietary components
and lack of other components, not just a complete lack of food. Too much of one component can be as
much harm to the body as too little. Nowadays we have enough food to eat and keep our ... Show

Vitamin D is therefore essential in growing children s diets to enable the growth of strong bones.
Without adequate amounts of vitamin D children can develop rickets, which is the deformation of the
legs caused when they lack calcium to strengthen the bones. In adults a lack of vitamin D in the diet
can lead to osteomalacia, a progressive softening of the bones which can make them highly
susceptible to fracture.
Vitamin D is made by the body when exposed to sunlight and is stored in the muscles, however, if the
skin is rarely exposed to the sunlight or is dark little vitamin D is produced. Foods such as eggs and
oily fish are all rich in vitamin D.
Vitamin K, phylloquinone, is found in dark green leafy vegetables such as spinach and kale. It is a fat
soluble vitamin which is involved in the clotting process of blood. In the intestines bacteria synthesise
a number of important clotting factors which need vitamin K. Without vitamin K cuts can fail to heal
and internal bleeding can occur.
Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin, known chemically as ascorbic acid. It is found in citrus fruits
such as oranges and lemons, and also in potatoes and tomatoes. The main function of vitamin C is the

  • 2. Essay on Mozart s Sonata k331 Mozart s Sonata k331 The first movement of Sonata K331 is comprised of a theme, six variations and a coda. The theme comprises of 18 bars: four times four bar phrases with an extension tacked onto the end. Mozart followed this strict binary theme but this does not mean that the music is at all predictable; he uses different techniques to bring the best out of this form, as detailed later. The extension is an example of Mozart surprising the listener and enhancing the journey to the end of the theme. Each of the groups of four bars ends with a cadence. This is periodic phrasing, one of many signatures of galant musical style (also known as Viennese classical music) that had its emphasis on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This could be countered by contrasting the first movement to the radically different form later in the piece and by pointing out that the use of the two bar extension was unusual and Mozart added this primarily to avoid becoming too predictable. A piece lacking in continuity may also have several ideas that may only appear for short periods in the piece or not work well together. However, Mozart uses the same simple melodic ideas throughout this movement that does provide continuity. He achieves this through using the melody within different textures and not using much counterpoint at all. Next is the question of tonal variety Mozart s use of chords and shape in the piece. There is a good argument for the lack of tonal variety in the piece in the whole Andante only one type of chromatic chord is used (in bar 12 of variations 1 4). Also, Mozart s reliance on the tonic and dominant chords is evident; in the theme, over 75% of the chords are in the tonic (A major) or the dominant (E major). However, as the variations progress, the listener can hear plenty of tonal structure to ward off criticism. Right from the beginning of Variation 1 (bar 19) the theme is decorated in the right hand with semi tonal appoggiaturas as well as contrasting semi quaver octaves in bar 23. There are many tonal marks in the piece ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. My Father Essay Our world is filled with so many different types of people. As life goes on, people come and go just like you pass cars on the highway. Some grow old while others die young. I have met so many incredible and unbelievable people over the years. However, there is one person who stood out to me above others, my father. He was someone like no other person could be. My father helped me through everything. It is very heart breaking to say I no longer can go to him for anything, but I know he is watching me from above. I would do anything to be able to talk to him again. My father impacted my life tremendously like no other person has before. In the beginning, my father was a man who worked his whole entire life, even up to a week before he passed away. He was very determined, smart, and indescribable. He was someone who would take his own life for someone else and helped everyone he met. All of the memories I have made with my father is significant to me. I have cherished each and every one, whether it was good or bad. Losing someone is hard and your life completely changes. Strengthening my faith in God has helped me the most through this tough time. No one said life was going to be easy, but the bumps in life lead you to become a stronger person. Since my father has passed away, he has made me change the way I look at life. Never take anything for granted and always try your very best. If you set your mind to something, you will become successful. When I was a few weeks old, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Essay about Phar Mor Inc Case Study Sean Russi The Case of Phar Mor Inc ACCT 525 October 31, 2012 Case Summary The case of Phar Mor Inc was one of the biggest pre Enron frauds that have been uncovered. Phar Mor Inc established in 1982 Phar Mor was a small little known discount drugstore. Phar Mor became well known for offering medications at a 25 40% discount rate compared to your normal pharmacy store prices. Phar Mor s first six years of existence seemingly were fraud free and saw the company grow at a decent pace for their field. By 1987 Phar Mor almost had 100 stores and was expanding even more rapidly at this point. The first hint of fraud came up and was discovered being a billing type scheme ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the time of discovery Phar Mor was overstated by over a $150 million dollars and had no other choice but to file bankruptcy. Could SOX have prevented the Phar Mor fraud? How? Which specific sections of SOX? During the time period that the Phar Mor fraud took place it was one of the most elaborate frauds of the 1980 s so could SOX prevented the fraud? The answer is debatable because of the extent that Phar Mor went to cover up the fraud it may have taken several years still to uncover it however, in the long run I do believe SOX would have prevented the fraud from lasting almost a full decade without being detected, and would not have been uncovered had it not been for a whistle blower. I think the most important sections of SOX that would have helped uncover the fraud at Phar Mor are as follows Section 203 Which deals with the auditors and any possible conflict of interest if they had worked with Phar Mor in the last calendar year they would have not been able to be the same auditors doing final audits of the company. Section 206 Which states that any auditor who had previously worked for the firm and now works for Phar Mor would cause the firm to not be able to have Phar Mor as a client. Phar Mor had 3 former employees of the audit firm who worked for them which allowed them the knowledge to know that the

The project is called Microcontroller Based Three Phase Induction Motor Controls . This is a partial fulfillment for my bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering at Mindanao University of Science and Technology. This project commenced on June 2011 and ended on March 2012. I was under the supervision of Engr. Reuel C. Pallugna, one of the instructors in the Electrical Engineering department. Background CE 1.1 My main objective was to create a speed and forward reverse control for an induction motor that can be programmed and can be accessed using the computer in the cheapest but efficient way. My project is composed of electrical and electronic components. The brain of the prototype comes from the program of a microcontroller. Most of the assembly of the electrical and electronic components and the creation of the program are done in the electrical laboratory. Economy is an important factor in my study. One of its advantages over the commercially available variable frequency drive (VFD) is it is more economical and can be programmed based on the user s preference without sacrificing accuracy and efficiency. CE 1.2 It took me 9 months to complete my prototype. Every month, my thesis adviser checked and tracked the progress of my project. I did the research and the creation of my prototype during weekdays and I did the technical writing of my thesis during ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hamlet takes a very deliberate and pensive approach to gaining revenge. In this slow process, he accidentally murders Polonius, thinking him to be the King eavesdropping. This leads to the wrath of Laertes, who takes a very different approach to revenge. Through Laertes foil of Hamlet, the futility of passionate revenge is revealed. The first thing that is seen are all the lights from the shops, buildings and streetlights. These lights brighten up Paris and give it a different but just as beautiful perspective at night. The Eiffel Tower, one of the top attractions in Paris that tourists come to see can be described as an iron, lace work of art, and the most recognized structure in the world, and at night with the glow of its lights, it stands out like a guiding lighthouse. We could see this beautiful tower wherever we stood day or night. My choir group was invited to sing in some of the cathedrals in Paris. One night after we had a concert and had dinner, our tour guide gave us an option of either staying on the bus or getting off and taking a tour down the Seine River to see the Eiffel Tower at night. If we should choose this option, we needed to find a different way back to the hotel as the bus driver was not going to come back for us. By turning into Hyde, Jekyll feels free and can do whatever he wants without the slightest hesitation. Following his innate desires Hyde murders Sir Danvers Carew and tramples a young girl. These actions are done through the Id and even though Jekyll is civilized law abiding man once the Id has taken over and he transforms into Hyde, his dark side is unleashed. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are but one; one body but two conflicting characters, the good and evil. In Frankenstein: the Modern Prometheus we see the monster as the outward expression of Victor s Id or his demoniacal passions. Freud believed that personality develops through a series of childhood stages during which the pleasure seeking energies of the id become focused on certain behaviors. These childhood stages are known as the psycosexual developmental stages. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the reasons that make this love very big is they stay separated for a very long time, and there is a third person in between. On top of that, the third person is the leader of Czech disobedience, and the husband of Ilsa: Victor. Moreover, the only person that can help him to run away from Casablanca is Rick. As it seems, this plot is very complicated. One of the themes that are being explored in the movie is love. Rick Blaine was the holder of Rick s Cafe. When people ask me how I feel about my Vietnamese culture, the first thing that comes to mind is durian fruit. Unlike the strawberries or cherries found at Safeway, durian fruit at first glance does not even look edible. The entire fruit resembles a dirty old football, except that durian weighs nearly three pounds. One inch spikes and a tough brown outer peel cover the fruit, giving it an intimidating look. Inside, yellow, kidney shaped pieces line the peel like orange slices. As a child, I hated durian. I refused to even taste it. First, the ransom note was found in the kitchen where Patsy went first thing every morning to fix herself a cup of coffee. How would a killer know this is where she would be going to first? Second, the ransom note was written on a notepad the Ramseys had in their house along with using a pen they had as well. If a kidnapper already knew they were going to kidnap someone, they should have already written the note out or typed the note instead of physically writing the note. There was also a practice note found. What kind of kidnapper practices their ransom note at the scene? You would have to feel extremely comfortable to know that no one in the house would wake up and catch you in the act of writing a 3 page ransom note, much less write a practice note first. Sixth, the ransom note also stated to not have anyone in the house contact the authorities or talk to anyone about the case or JonBenet would die. However, Patsy Ramsey did call the police and invited friends and family over to discuss the case. If they did this, their daughter would be beheaded. • 27. Machiavelli s Republic State Structure Simply put, for democracy to exist the state must be accordingly structured with principles of democracy. The key distinction between democracies and republics is within the limits placed on the state by the law, especially with concern for minority rights. Both systems generally use representational voting that often takes place in legislatures/parliaments. In a republic, a constitution will guarantee protection for individual rights that cannot be restrained by the government. By contrast, in a pure democracy the majority cannot be restrained in this manner and may, in fact, force its ideals on the minority. The most successful and ideal type representational republic is that of the Romans, which Machiavelli holds to a high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These policies can be useful for future republics by also reducing them to their origins. Without constant renovation, they would not be able to last. Reverting to original principles is only possible through either external events or according to their own intrinsic good sense (III I). Thus for Machiavelli, comparing a states modern affairs with that of its ancient is the best means by which to draw political knowledge from them. True political liberty could only come from a rehabilitation of states standards. Because a republic is intended to preserve liberty and use it to promote general wellbeing, it is critical to regain freedom as soon as possible. Desperate times such as war, natural disasters, etc. always lead to a degree of degeneration, and so it is critical to adjust the government and its policies in order to regain what has been lost (I I, II). Ultimately, the structure of the Roman republic and Machiavelli s favorability of it is what distinguishes his true republican nature. As he advocates for a distribution of power rather than for it to be wholly vested in the people, it can be discerned that modeling a state after a Republic is the superior means by which to ... He wrote a book that was the first of its kind and affected many people in many ways. He used his life and mishaps to influence and help people. There are many things to know about Olaudah: early life, travel, and the making of his legacy. Olaudah was born in West Africa, in 1745, in the village of the Igbo tribe, where his father was the chief. Recent scholars think that he might of been born in the New World instead of Africa (Foner, page 130 ). When he was 11 he was kidnapped by slave traders along with some of his family. At that point, he was forced into the Atlantic Slave Trade and was considered a slave. He was then sent to Barbados. Still traveling in the slave trade system, he went to Virginia (the English colony where most of the tobacco was grown). From Virginia, Olaudah was sold to a British sea captain. The British sea captain changed his name from Olaudah Equiano, to Gustavus Vassa (one of the many names people gave him in his life). The Treaty Of Versailles The United States vs. the Treaty of Versailles The Treaty of Versailles was a peace settlement between Germany and the Allied Powers signed on June 28, 1919. The Treaty of Versailles officially ended World War 1. However, since the conditions in the treaty were so punitive towards Germany many believe that it was also partly responsible for starting World War 2. Before the treaty was signed President Woodrow Wilson and his opponent in congress, Senator Henry Cabot Lodge debated over the membership in the League of Nations and about the mortality of the treaty. Many debated that the United States should have signed the Treaty of Versailles and joined the League of Nations while others oppose both the treaty and the alliance. I believe that the United States did the right thing by rejecting the Treaty of Versailles, and avoiding the entangling commitments overseas which the alliance would have brought upon us. Correspondingly, Senator Henry Cabot Lodge also held an anti Versailles position. Senator Lodge viewed the treaty as suspicious and stated more than once that a matter this important should not be rushed. My one desire is that not only the Senate, which is charged with responsibility, but that the press and the people of the country should investigate every proposal with the utmost thoroughness and weigh them all carefully before they make up their minds (Document 1). Police officers work tirelessly to accommodate regulations adopted to ensure only criminals are convicted. These restrictions have been part of the United States since the Bill of Rights was generated in 1791, but in the 1960s, as Law and Order, the view that crime must be dealt with harshly to deter citizens from breaking the law, the Supreme Court was forced to decide the constitutionality of the rules of interrogation. In the Sixties, crime was escalating and public safety was becoming a growing concern; police began to treat suspects harsher in an effort to raise conviction rates and promote public safety. In 1966, however, the jurisprudence of the entire US justice system changed when the court of Chief Justice Earl Warren was presented with the case Miranda v Arizona. In this case, the majority decision ruled to protect suspects rights, extending equality of protection regardless of legal knowledge or background, not only highlighting the trends of human rights and equality in the Sixties, but also the tensions between criminal rights versus public safety, demonstrating a shift from the conservative law and order jurisprudence to more liberal methods of interrogation and conviction.
