Egoism And Moral Skepticism By James Rachels
James Rachels introduces in his written works, Egoism and Moral Skepticism, two different theories
of human nature: psychological egoism and ethical egoism. The theory of psychological egoism refers
to the view that all human actions are self centered. On the other hand, the theory of ethical egoism is
the idea that we are not obligated to do anything other than what is in our interest. Most individuals
would consistently believe in ethical egoism because most generally care about the well being of
others. The scenario states that there is an outbreak of a deadly disease in the remote area where a
colleague and I are spending our month long business trip, working with two other people from the
local village. A viral of vaccine was dropped off by officials from the government s disease control
agency, but it is only enough to completely ensure two people and 99% chance if it was equally
distributed. My colleague and I are given the opportunity to keep the vaccine to ourselves without the
others knowing. My colleague, who is an ethical egoist, tells me that we should not share because
there is no reason for us to help the others and put our lives at risk for not taking the full amount of
vaccine. For the sake of the vaccine and the argument, I will accept my colleague s ethical theory and
based on his views, I will convince him to share with the others. I believe this is a better approach
because an ethical egoist s primary principle is himself and therefore, by focusing on

The Status Of Women In Society
The status of women in a society is a significant reflection of the level of social justice in that society.
In the literature, women s status is commonly described in terms of their education, income,
employment, health, fertility, etc. somewhere it has shown thattheir roles within family, community
and society also. But if we are talking about tribal communities, the role playing by women is crucial
and substantial. According to the Oxford dictionary a tribe is a group of people in a primitive or
barbarous stage of development acknowledging the authority of a chief and usually regarding
themselves as having a common ancestor . Tribalare assumed the original dwellers of this
subcontinents and residing since unrecorded time. India is the second largest country in the world in
terms of high concentration of indigenous Tribal population which is just after the African continent.
Women play a crucial role in this communitybut yet their conditions are pitiable. Empowerment is an
active process enabling women to realize their full identity and power in all spheres of life
(Gnanadhas Mahalekshmi, 2011). Empowerment is a process that takes a person from a position of
powerless inaction to responsible action. The process moves through several stages from a)
participation to b) decision making to c) action and, ultimately to d) the capacity to take responsibility
for those actions. Empowerment is a complex concept and it is interpreted in many ways. It comes

Sierra Leone, A Country Most Notoriously Known For Its...
Sierra Leone is a country most notoriously known for its humanitarian problems associated with
conflict diamonds. These luxury items have caused numerous individuals residing in the third world
country to lose their lives or lose the ability to live a fruitful life. In addition to their humanitarian
issues, they are also plagued by issues of bad governance. Their recent civil war that took place during
most of the 1990s had tainted the citizens views on what an effective government could do. To
complicate matters further, there was also a recent disastrous Ebola outbreak that not only harmed the
residents in great numbers, but also the already hindered economy. Their economy, heavily instilled in
agrarian and natural resource roots, is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

formed based on a consensus of the General Assembly (Kimberley Process Certification Scheme Core

worldwide and ensure that the basis for these diamonds do not infringe upon basic human rights ( KB
Basis Kimberley Process). People are not allowed to openly trade diamonds that have a conflict source
in an attempt to reduce violations of humanitarian rights.
The World Bank is overseeing a request for the The Emergency Economic and Fiscal Support
Operation to the Republic of Sierra Leone (Projects: Sierra Leone. World Bank). The Government of
Sierra Leone has requested the sum of thirty million dollars to help reduce the economic effects of the
recent Ebola outbreak. The funds are to be allocated to social infrastructure and to support the quality
of life and opportunities presented to people of both genders (Projects: Sierra Leone. World Bank).
This is a necessity in Sierra Leone as repression is what drove their recent civil war.
The United Nations Environmental Program has been in Sierra Leone to address the environmental
consequences of the recent eleven year civil war. The main goals of the Environmental Program are
outlined in Programme 21. The program aimed at the low level of fertile land currently available in

In Disputing Some Of The Main Accusations And So-Called
In disputing some of the main accusations and so called evidence presented in the Blue Book, the
German Colonial Office argues that Germany s African protectorates were acquired by peaceful
means and were built upon by German enterprise and industry under a colonial policy of liberality
towards other nations. They claim that, since Great Britain declared willingness to recognize German
territory in African, the British cannot make the argument that South West Africa shouldn t have fallen
into German hands, since they initially supported it during the Berlin Conferences. Prior to the war,
there were multiple British and American sources that praise Germany s development efforts in Africa.
The White Book even claims, many eminent English ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If anything, they claim that German colonizers were merely following the example of the British, who
were much more experienced in the suppression and conquering of native populations. They
rhetorically demand that Britain recognize their own atrocities before accusing other powers, saying,
Physician, heal thyself!
The Treaty of Versailles
Due to the Allies victory and Great Britain s prominent position among the Allied powers, the
evidence and rhetoric from the 1918 Blue Book prevailed over the counterarguments presented in the
1919 German White Book, resulting Germany s forced renouncement of her overseas territory.
Overall, the Treaty of Versailles reassigned German boundaries and assigned liability for reparations.
The two main articles that concern the former German protectorates are Article 22, which concerns
their distribution, and Article 119, which describes the terms of the German colonies surrender. While
Article 119 provides more information concerning the general compliance of Germany, the decisions
made in Article 22 show the true influence that the British had on the Treaty s mandates and the
degree to which the Allied powers benefitted from Germany s colonial losses.

Van Gogh Major Accomplishments
There were many great and famous artists in the world,, some of which weren t famous until they
were dead and the only thing that remained of them was the artwork, Like my artist Van Gogh. Van
Gogh was considered a very dark artist. Most of his work was quite depressing to look at so people
didn t like his art until a later time when he started traveling more and started making bright pastel and
colorful pieces. That was the first time he was noticed. There are some very interesting facts about Van
Gogh, for example his full name is Vincent Willem Van Gogh. He was also born in Holland and he
had a brother who shared the same name with him. Many people know him for his art but not many
people know that he was actually meant to be a pastor but he found a greater connection to art, which

restrained from doing so. The asylum is also where he died supposedly, his death is partial mystery. It
is believed he either died in the arms of his brother, or he was killed by his brother or an assassin.
People remember Van Gogh for many reasons, mainly his most popular piece of art, Starry Night.

Devices and technologies like Charge Coupled Devices (CCDs) camera, Closed Circuit Television
(CCTV), thermal camera, High Definition (HD) camera and night vision are widely used in video
surveillance to gather information and to observe people, events and activities [10]. At present there is
an increased desire and need in automated video surveillance application intended for evaluating
human behaviors.
Human detection in video is complicated due several factors such as variable appearance of people,
camera positions, and wide range of person poses, illumination variation, brightness, backgrounds,
contrast level and human occlusions [ ]. Different people perform the same action differently and the
same person performs the same action differently at different times. Due to huge diversity of human
body size, appearance, shape and human actions to perform automatically recognize actions are very
challenging [12]. Steps for processing a video are video segmentation, motion detection, background
modeling, foreground segmentation, object classification, motion tracking, activity recognition, and
camera handoff and data fusion [].
The main objective of this paper is to provide a review of human behavior analysis in video
surveillance. The review is not exhaustive, but gives an overview of the major steps involved in
human behavior analysis and some of the techniques which are used in these steps. The rest of this

The Controversy Of Dog Parks
I am a proponent of dog parks. It is my belief that these parks are a wonderful addition to any
community. There are many benefits to having such parks, not just for the animals, but for us as well.
Dogs are social creatures. They need interaction with other dogs. If they do not get the neccessary
socialization, they can become hostile toward other animals, as well as unruly around people. As we
humans need to interact with other humans, these parks are a great place for us bipeds to socialize and
make friends as well. It doesnt take a lot of space to have a dog park. Most cities already have some
peice of ground that is not being used. The dogs just need a little bit of room to run around without the
restraint of a leash.

Frederick Jackson Turner Analysis
History is a matter of what happened. Historians, however, work hard to understand why everything
happened. To do so, they must look back hundreds of years to each event and somehow answer the
question, why did this happen? Of these historians, three include Frederick Jackson Turner, who
believed that the western frontier movements were the cause to many events, Richard Hofstadter, who
believed that small groups impacted American politics, and Charles Beard, who felt that the
constitution was written for other reasons than many people thought. Each man picks apart American
history and uses his own interpretation to analyze each event. Although each argument is convincing,
Frederick Jackson Turner s is most definitely the best analysis, as ... Show more content on

In his essay, he states The rising steam navigation on western waters, the opening of the Erie Canal,
and the westward extension of cotton culture added five frontier states in this period (Turner). Turner
uses several different events and connects it to the advancement on the frontier. These are not the only
events that he manages to link the frontier to, as he explains more at a later point in his essay. In
Hofstadter s essay on the paranoid style , Hofstadter uses three events but does not clearly link them to
his theory. As an example, he uses the Illuminati and Masonry as an event to connect things together
but only really explains the history behind this (Hofstadter). He never states how these were affected
by his paranoid style . As well as Hofstadter, Beard did a similar thing in his essay. Beard s idea was
that the Constitution was written for a different purpose than many people think but he rarely
mentions what this purpose was. Beard does state that the underlying purpose of the Constitution was
not the establishment of popular government by means of parliamentary majorities (Beard). Although
this answers to his idea, this is the only time in the entire essay where this is mentioned. In every other
part, Beard is explaining the process of writing the Constitution at the Convention and how the
Articles of Confederation had caused nothing but harm to the new

Reaction Paper On The Perfect Storm
Sebastian Junger began to write The Perfect Storm without even knowing it (Junger XIV). His
personal experience with the storm was ...standing on Gloucester s Back Shore watching thirty foot
swells advance on Cape Ann... (Junger XIV). The next day, Junger read an article in the newspaper
about a Gloucester boat (The Andrea Gail) that was believed to be lost at sea. He saved a clipping of
that article and from then on, Junger began unknowingly writing the book. Junger witnessed this
destructive storm in action. He also watched the 30 foot swells crash on the Gloucester shore. These
personal connections persuaded Junger to write The Perfect Storm. Also, throughout the book, Junger
states that fishermen do not get the respect they deserve for their dangerous jobs. Upon further
research, it was found that Sebastian Junger used to work in a labor intensive job as well. He was a
climber for a tree company. After he was hurt on the job, Junger realized that dangerous work was not
written about a lot. As the terrible storm hit Gloucester and a fishing boat was lost at sea, Sebastion
decided he would shine light on another dangerous business, the open seas fishing industry.
The subject of The Perfect Storm is the Andrea Gail and the storm that it was trapped and eventually
perished in. The subject is stated at the beginning of the book in the Forward. Here, Junger describes
his writing process, his inspiration, and the subject of his book. Throughout the book, Junger

Censorship In The Movie The Sacrifice
Towards the end of our reading, Nafisi tells the story of a Russian movie called The Sacrifice being
released in theaters. Movies are much like books in the sense that they are an escape from reality.
Movies are another form of storytelling, but this time the story is told through cinematic art instead of
words on pages. In the 1930s during the Great Depression, films were an outlet. During this time, the
people who had the money would buy their movie tickets and go see a movie in order to forget about
their current situation. Much like when you read a book, when you watch a movie, you re submersed
into another world, another life and you acquire another character s problems and emotions and forget
your own. There are the kind of movies that helped you escape, then there were the kind of movies
that expressed serious issues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nafisi says, Knowing that I could not understand the words and that if I thought about the censorship I
would be too angry to watch, I surrendered to the magic of colors and images. (Nafisi 206) The people
of Tehran were so eager to see it because, ...were thirsty for some form of beauty, even in an
incomprehensible overintellectual, abstract film with no subtitles and censored out of recognition. I
believe people were so keen on seeing the film because it was the first time they were able to be
together as a community without someone telling them what they had to do or what they had to
believe. It was also a form of catharsis for many. The feeling of being able to show up to a theater and
be able to see a film was surprising to them, since many people had not been in a theater for years.
Although the people were being oppressed by not being able to choose the movie or language that the
film was in, they were still able to feel like they grasped a miniscule piece of freedom for just one

Essay Physician-Assisted Suicide and Free Will
Physician assisted suicide (PAS) is a topic, which proponents often support by the affirmation of
patient free will or as the exercise of patient autonomy. The purpose of this paper is to examine this
argument further from an inter disciplinary approach, regarding PAS from medical, ethical and legal
standpoints and to examine the concept of free will from the philosophical discipline. Are these
concepts compatible in a meaningful context and can a sound argument be constructed to support PAS
on the basis of patient free will?

Kass s analysis of the argument favoring PAS on the grounds of Freedom or autonomy :

physicians may properly do. (Kass, p.27). Arguing against autonomy as a rational defense for PAS,

in the end. The nature of the medical profession is one which operates according to norms that

Essay on Sensitive Periods in Developement
Sensitive Periods in Developement The child does not grow uniformly and homogeneously like a
crystal or a carrot, but by stages or phases, which succeed one another and which, differ from one
another. For proper growth and development it is necessary that the potentialities for developing
human relationships with which the infant is born be exposed to the organizing influences of another
human being. Accumulating evidence indicates that there exist critical developmental periods during
which the organism is ready for differential development, within which periods it must receive the
proper stimulations if it is to develop adequately. These critical developmental periods may be broadly
outlined as follows: 1) The period during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

well known that such critical developmental periods exist in the development of the body, with the
principle well established that the earlier the interference with their development the more widespread
will the disturbance in growth be. Tissues must reach a certain stage of differentiation before they can

Analysis Of The Moment By Alain De Botton
When presented with rich perspectives of landscapes, individuals can develop a heightened receptivity
to their milieu, fostering their ability to gain an appreciation for the beauty that encompasses the
human experience. Through their engaging representations of real landscapes, composers can instill
optimism into the psyche of responders, allowing them to surmount the trivialities of the detached
consumer society. Alain De Botton s intricately structured travel memoir, Art of Travel, and Margaret
Atwood s poem, The Moment, conceptualise the resonance of such landscapes through a unique and
engaging form, allowing responders to cultivate an amplified admiration for their own existence.
In coalescing a variety of rich anecdotal and philosophical perspectives, De Botton facilitates a sense
of gratitude for the minute aspects of our accustomed landscapes. Through pathetic fallacy,
Continuous rain, confused gusts , the composer parallels his cynicism with the confused nature of the
physical landscape, ironically elucidating the notion that humans, narcissistically, impose their
pessimism on their habituated environments. De Botton s rich, unorthodox selection of imagery allows
him to subvert this notion, instead intimating that we must unearth the phenomena of mundane
landscapes, such as Hoppers Gas Station , to progress in the anomaly that is life. The cyclical ending
of the novel reiterates this notion, with an inclusive pronoun, We have become habituated and

Example Of Misogyny In Antigone
In Sophocles s Antigone, we can see that the deeply misogynistic society of ancient Greece has
manifested itself into Creon, a despotic ruler, despising dissidents, traitors, and especially women. His
hatred of women manifested into several examples of misogyny throughout the play: He assumed that
the criminal who buried Polyneices was a man, he looks down on Antigone s defiance as improper
defiance of a mans order by a woman, and he virtually disowns his son Haemon for disagreeing with
him and listening to a woman. In classical Greece, women were widely hated. Misogyny was
engraved into the vary culture of ancient Greece, in their religion, the Greek Pantheon, Pandora, one
of the first women, unleashed all of the world s problems from the box containing them. Among the
many stories in the vast literature of classical Greece, apparently humanity lived in relative peace and
happiness until the creation of women, which, via Pandora s treachery and women s other
shenanigans, we devolved to our current state. This trend of putting women down on a societal level is
known as patriarchy and was incredibly common in Classical societies as compared to now, It is a
natural progression akin to bureaucracy that becomes more common as a state ages, the small
imbalance of men s physical dominance snowballs into the state of Patriarchy we can see in Sophocles
s Antigone. We can see this kind of patriarchy in other societies, such as: China, India, and Rome. This
society molded Creon into

Bill Gates vs Mark Zuckerberg : the interesting discovery of likeness and divergence
Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg are two outstanding figures known for their accomplishments in the
advancement of the IT world of today. When we hear about these two public figures, what comes to
your mind? Well for me I think about how successful they are and how they are among the top ten
richest men in the world. Although there are a lot of similarities between them but when we take a
closer look at their lives and achievements, we can also see some divergence between them.

Mark was also accused by three Harvard seniors, Cameron Winklevoss, Tyler Winklevoss, and Divya

HarvardConnection.com, instead of using their ideas to build ConnectU. The three filed a lawsuit
against Mark leading to agreed settlement whereby 1.2 million Facebook shares that were worth
US$300 million will be given to them.
Additionally, similarities between these two tech geniuses can be described in how they are
billionaires and highly philanthropic. They have both signed a commitment called the Gates Buffet

From humble beginnings, migrating to Winnipeg from Scotland with his family in 1919, Thomas

Similarities and Differences of Hilter and Napolean
Founder and leader of the Nazi party, who many describe to be the most insane and trouble causing
man in the history of the entire world. Adolf Hitler s goal was to make Germany the strongest country
in the world, which he did, along with most of Europe. His armies of over sixteen million men were
standing by his side the whole way. Although he had a large group of followers, he also had an even
larger group of people who were against him. Adolf felt that if he did not remove all of the Jews from
the face of the earth, he would have been seen as a failure, so he tried, and he tried, and he tried. But

Besides the fact that he conquered Moscow, the Russians did not surrender. Instead, they burned the
city before the French got there, so the shelter and supplies that Napoleon was counting on were
destroyed. So, his army had to retreat back to Germany, while being chased and hunted by the
Russians. The whole Russian campaign ended up as a complete failure. He lost almost all of his
500,000 men that he had started with. In 1810, he divorced Josephine and married the daughter of the
Austrian Emperor, Marie Louise, in a last attempt to improve relations. Upon his return to France, the
Prussians, Russians, Swedish, and the British started the War of Liberation against him. His army was
soon forced over the Rhine at the Battle of Leipzig. However, the allied armies did not accept the plan
and they demanded that the brother of Louis XVI, Louis XVIII, be put on the throne. Napoleon was
sent to rule the Island of Elba in 1813 with the British Navy guarding the Island. But, in 1815, he
returned to Paris and his old armies quickly gathered around him, already sick of the new king. The
allies were threatening to invade France again since they heard of the return of Napoleon, so he
quickly organized a new army and marched them into Belgium to meet the British and Prussian
armies. In Ligny, he defeated the Prussians and then marched to Waterloo to meet the British under
Wellington. At first, he was doing well in the battle.

Analysis Of Charles Berger s Uncertainty Reduction Theory
Charles Berger, a communication theorist coined the term Uncertainty Reduction Theory in 1975. This
theory discusses that when people meet one of their first concerns is to reduce uncertainty about the
other person and the situation. Berger uses eight axioms, verbal communication, nonverbal warmth,
information seeking, self disclosure, reciprocity, similarity, liking, and shared networks to discuss the
connection between these axioms and reducing uncertainty (Griffin, E., Ledbetter, A., Sparks G,
2015). Berger and Calabrese s (1975) Uncertainty Reduction Theory has basic assumptions that when
strangers meet, their primary concern is one of uncertainty reduction or increasing predictability about
the behavior of both themselves and others in the interaction (p. 100). A video interview with Charles
Berger and Em Griffin discusses Uncertainty Reduction Theory and what it means to Berger. In the
video, Berger states that the theory deliberates the struggles that people go through in their lives to
adjust to the changing world around them. One of the main struggles people face is that uncertainty is
always there, especially in a new situation. Berger states, if we re going to act in ways that will
achieve our desired goals that is, we ll get what we want we have to be able to anticipate, to be able to
predict what the physical world is going to do and what the people in it are going to do ( A First
Look... , 2015). Because the world is changing and new experiences are

Mainland Chinese in Hong Kong: Issues of Inclusion

by the local citizens. The MTR Corporation s new policy setting limit to the weight of the luggage and
the demonstration against the traders held by the local citizens are some of the evidences showing the
discrimination against the mainland Chinese in Hong Kong (Lee amp; Lo, 2012). Actually, the

Actually, the income rate of the mainland Chinese are much lower than that of the local citizens. The
median of income of the mainland Chinese is around $6000 while that of the local citizens is $10000
(Hong Kong Government, 2007). Having a low income set them into living problem as they may have
difficulty in buying necessity, paying utilities expense and paying for the meal.
Getting low income not only leads to the difficulty in buy food and stuff, but also leads to the
residential problem. The environmental barriers mean the poor living condition of the residents and
the negative atmosphere of the environment (The United Nation, 1976). According to the report of
Society for Community Organization in 2009, the median of monthly rent of bed space apartment is
$1265 and that of suite is $2300 (Society for Community Organization, 2009). If the mainland
Chinese chooses to rent a bed space apartment or a suite, they will spend a large part of their income
to live in an area with poor condition. They can also choose to rent the public housing or purchase
their private house, but this will cost them more which they may not afford. Moreover, the
characteristic of the district they lived may create negative emotion to the mainland Chinese. If you

The Three Factors Of Juvenile Delinquency
In the United States, juvenile delinquency is becoming a major problem in the communities across the
country. Because of the actions that these juveniles engage in on a regular basis, taxpayers across the
country are having to shell out hundreds upon thousands of dollars to rehabilitate these children in
order to help them make better choices. This leads citizens to wonder what factors actually cause
juveniles to live a life of crime rather than success. In short, there are three main factors that often
cause children to live a life of crime. These three factors are social influences, psychological
characteristics, and academic potential.
The first factor that often leads to juvenile delinquency involves the child s social influences within
their communities. The community of individuals that a child is normally around on a normal basis
includes family, friends, and neighbors. Depending on the overall quality of the relationship that the
child has with each member of their community, they maybe more or less inclined to commit crimes.
According to the National Criminal Justice Reference Service, juveniles who experience abuse or
neglect from any member of their community may be more inclined to become deviant (n.d.). For
example, if a father abuses his child, the odds of the child s willing to resort to deviance becomes
significantly higher than a father who treats his son like a normal parent. Another way a child can be
socially exposed to deviance is through example. If a parent is always in a run with law enforcement
on a constant basis, that child may grow up to be just like them simply because that is how they were
raised. The third and final social influence comes outside of the family circle where the actions that a
child s friends partake in can also determine whether or not the child will pursue acts of deviance. The
influence of a friend s actions can either be positive or negative depending on the values of the friend.
For instance, say a child named Johnny hangs around a group of troublemakers who always wreck
havoc, smoke joints, and talk trash about everyone. This kind of relationship between Johnny and his
friends can lead Johnny to becoming just like the troublemakers because of peer pressure.

Business Communication M1
M1 Business Communication
INTRODUCTION
In P1 I talked about types of communications used by Asda and these are Verbal, written, on screen. In
this task I am going to show you the advantages and disadvantages of each type of communication
referring it to my chosen company and that is Asda.
ADVANTAGES OF VERBAL/ORAL
Oral communication or speech is often the preferred medium to exchange information in in informal
situations since it provides a number of immediate benefits when attempting to pitch proposals and
ideas.
* It s easier to communicate verbally than any other way because you get to understand every detail
that is being spoken by the other person. In Asda customers communicate with the staff members this
is an advantage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
* Advantage of written communication is that there is a lesser chance for the message to be
misunderstood, e.g. if Asda wants to explain something or give instruction in the letter there will be
lesser chance for the message to be misunderstood because there will be instruction and the letter will
be written properly.
* Written communication is good for complicated and vital instructions, which can be given in a
precise and uniform manner.
* It assists in proper delegation of responsibilities. While in case of oral communication, it is
impossible to fix and delegate responsibilities on the grounds of speech as it can be taken back by the
speaker or he may refuse to acknowledge.
DISADVANTAGES OF WRITTEN
* The disadvantage of this is that written communication does not save upon the costs. It costs huge in
terms of stationery and the manpower employed in writing/typing and making the leaflets.
* The disadvantage of written is for example if Asda sends letter, memos or emails people may not
always read them.
* Another disadvantage of written communication is that it does not answer questions and there is no
immediate feedback. So therefore if Asda sends Letter they cannot have immediate feedback because

The Ancient Olympic Games
The Ancient Olympic Games is a series of competitions held between representatives of several city
states from Ancient Greece, which featured mainly athletic but also combat and chariot racing events.
[1] The origin of these Olympics is shrouded in mystery and legend.[2] One of the most popular
myths identifies Heracles and his father Zeus as the progenitors of the Games.[3][4][5] According to
legend, it was Heracles who first called the Games Olympic and established the custom of holding
them every four years.[6] A legend persists that after Heracles completed his twelve labors, he built
the Olympic stadium as an honor to Zeus. Following its completion, he walked in a straight line for

In 1890, after attending the Olympian Games of the Wenlock Olympian Society, Coubertin decided
that a large scale revival of the Olympic Games was achievable.[21] Coubertin built on the ideas of
Brookes and Zappas with the aim of internationally rotating the Olympic Games from country to
country.[21] He presented these ideas during the first Olympic Congress of the newly created
International Olympic Committee (IOC). This meeting was held from June 16 to June 23, 1894, at the
Sorbonne University in Paris. On the last day of the Congress, it was decided that the first
multinational Olympic Games would take place two years later in Athens.[22] The IOC was fully
responsible for the Games organization, and, for that purpose, elected the Greek writer Demetrius
Vikelas as its first president.[23]

Wheel Of Life Research Paper
The Wheel of life has six main sections which represent the six realms it was designed by the Buddha
in order to simplify his teachings to ordinary people. The six realms are understood as the forms of
existence into which people are born according to their Karma. The realms can also be interpreted as
real life situations and it also contains images that represent the three poisons (ignorance, attachment
and aversion). Karma, the six realms of samsara, impermanence, nirvana and the Buddha these are
contained within the wheel of life. This shows that Buddhism is a dynamic, living, religious tradition
because Buddha used this to simplify his teachings to the ordinary people. The wheel of life condenses
much of Buddhist teachings and principal beliefs so that it can be understood easily.
Impermanence is represented by the creature holding the Wheel of life he is known as Yama he is
believed to be the protector of Buddhists and Buddhism. He is not evil despite his appearance the role

Historically, genres of popular music have undergone dramatic changes due to changing technology,

The Suffering Servant Of Isaiah 52 And 53
THE SUFFERING SERVANT OF ISAIAH 52 AND 53
The book of Isaiah provides a message to the nation of Israel and is one of the most powerful books of
prophecy in the Bible. The prophet spoke of events to come that many have attempted to discern.
Scholars, Rabbis and Christian Clergy differ in their interpretations of these passages in Isaiah 52 and
53.
This paper will address these biblical passages in Isaiah 52 and 53, which describes a suffering servant
to the Lord God. There has been a debate as to whether these passages where describing the Messiah
who would come to restore Israel as God s chosen people or if the passage was describing the nation
of Israel as the suffering servant . Christian scholars and clergy view these passages as describing
Jesus who they affirm as the Messiah. The text is written in a poetic form and flows from one subject
to another, however, many view these passages as being extremely detailed prophecy about the
Messiah to come. I will point out key passages and explain how these passages provide clarity about
whom the writer was speaking. This paper will point out why Jesus is the suffering servant , who is
mentioned in Isaiah and explain why the suffering servant is not the nation of Israel as others propose.

The Problem Of Gangs And Violence
The problem of gangs and violence are commonly found in Chicago, especially during the night time.
Although the rate seems to be lower compared to the past, the violence rate is still shocking compared
to other states. Therefore, violence in Chicago s neighborhoods and communities cannot be
overlooked. Statistics show that 1,109 school aged youth were shot, and 216 of those were killed in
2010. As a student of UIC, I often receive crime alert emails as violence cases seemed to occur quite
often around the campus area. In order to improve the public security to ensure residents safety, it is
essential to find ways to solve these issues. It is because violence can cause negative effects in many
different aspects. Besides individual s physical well being, it may also lead to some long term
psychological problems; such as anxiety, eating and sleeping problem. Moreover, violence also affects
the community as it became unsafe to live in. The value of the properties will decrease because the
quality of life became worse.
These days, Chicago launched a cure violence program to help prevent the violence, and this program
is managed by the Chicago Project. The social problem this community intervention is trying to
remedy is to lower down the cases of shooting and killings on the streets. As it could be challenging to

Sarcasm In Sarcasm

Sarcasm is a type of sentiment where people express their negative feelings using positive or
intensified positive words in the text. It is a kind of sentiment which acts as an interfering factor in any

are missing, making sarcasm detection very difficult for an average human. Due to these challenges,

The Positive And Negative Aspects Of Hospitalization
Healthcare is an issue that affects people all around the world. Many countries have adopted different
perspectives on how to solve this problem. Two of the main solutions to the healthcare problem are a
free market healthcare system or a national healthcare system. Both of these positions have positive
and negative attributes that come into play when they are compared with one another. These systems
create an environment where the majority of people receive healthcare but in different ways.
Healthcare is something that allows people to use hospitals and other facilities at a reduced cost. This
enables people to get check ups and immunizations without paying for the full cost of the visit. In the
case where hospitalization occurs healthcare covers a large portion of the costs to stay in the hospital
and the procedures that you may undergo while you are in the hospital. Healthcare becomes very
important to individuals all around the world with the price of hospitals and other facilities rising. This
rise in prices is making it hard for people to get the appropriate care they need without having
insurance companies pay for part of the expenses. A national healthcare system, also called universal
healthcare, is one where every citizen is provided with some healthcare coverage whether it be from
the government or private industries. Some, but not all, of national healthcare systems are single payer

A marine biome is a large aquatic zone that takes up almost 75% of Earth s surface, has a salt
concentration around 3%, and is distinguished from other biomes by its physical environment.
According to Campbell Essential Biology with Physiology, (2010), the habitats of a marine biome
varies depending on the level of the sea that it exists (pp.382). The layers or zones that make up the
marine biome consist of the pelagic realm, the intertidal zone, the photic zone, the aphotic zone, and
the benthic realm. The pelagic realm is the part of the marine biome that includes all open water.

Other marine life that exist in this ecosystem prey on other species for food, such as shark, octopus,
and larger fish prey on smaller marine life for food. Herbivory is a large part of the marine life, which
is the consumption of plant parts or algae by an animal. Phytoplankton, known as algae and other
plants of the marine environment is the producer for food of many species living in this ecosystem.
The consumer relies directly or indirectly on the output of the producers. A main hazard to this
ecosystem caused by humans would be pollution. The acid precipitation, toxic chemicals, and other
contaminants are harming the aquatic environment, and it contributes to the dwindling population of
species in this ecosystem. According to (Dickey, Reece Simon, 2010), this human behavior has
contributed to the decline in commercial fish species, dying coral reefs, and even the closing of some
beaches due to pollution. The abiotic factors present in this ecosystem consist of temperature, light,
water, minerals, and air. Majority of organisms living in this aquatic environment require specific
temperatures to survive, although temperatures can vary according to the species. Obviously, water is

On the other hand, the theory of ethical egoism is the idea that we are not obligated to do anything other than what is in our interest. For the sake of the vaccine and the argument, I will accept my colleague s ethical theory and based on his views, I will convince him to share with the others. I believe this is a better approach because an ethical egoist s primary principle is himself and therefore, by focusing on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In coalescing a variety of rich anecdotal and philosophical perspectives, De Botton facilitates a sense of gratitude for the minute aspects of our accustomed landscapes. Example Of Misogyny In Antigone In Sophocles s Antigone, we can see that the deeply misogynistic society of ancient Greece has manifested itself into Creon, a despotic ruler, despising dissidents, traitors, and especially women. In classical Greece, women were widely hated. Misogyny was engraved into the vary culture of ancient Greece, in their religion, the Greek Pantheon, Pandora, one of the first women, unleashed all of the world s problems from the box containing them. Upon his return to France, the Prussians, Russians, Swedish, and the British started the War of Liberation against him. His army was soon forced over the Rhine at the Battle of Leipzig. However, the allied armies did not accept the plan and they demanded that the brother of Louis XVI, Louis XVIII, be put on the throne. Napoleon was sent to rule the Island of Elba in 1813 with the British Navy guarding the Island. But, in 1815, he returned to Paris and his old armies quickly gathered around him, already sick of the new king. The allies were threatening to invade France again since they heard of the return of Napoleon, so he quickly organized a new army and marched them into Belgium to meet the British and Prussian armies. • 24. Analysis Of Charles Berger s Uncertainty Reduction Theory Charles Berger, a communication theorist coined the term Uncertainty Reduction Theory in 1975. This theory discusses that when people meet one of their first concerns is to reduce uncertainty about the other person and the situation. Berger uses eight axioms, verbal communication, nonverbal warmth, information seeking, self disclosure, reciprocity, similarity, liking, and shared networks to discuss the connection between these axioms and reducing uncertainty (Griffin, E., Ledbetter, A., Sparks G, 2015). Berger and Calabrese s (1975) Uncertainty Reduction Theory has basic assumptions that when strangers meet, their primary concern is one of uncertainty reduction or increasing predictability about the behavior of both themselves and others in the interaction (p. 100). A video interview with Charles Berger and Em Griffin discusses Uncertainty Reduction Theory and what it means to Berger. In the video, Berger states that the theory deliberates the struggles that people go through in their lives to adjust to the changing world around them. One of the main struggles people face is that uncertainty is always there, especially in a new situation. Berger states, if we re going to act in ways that will achieve our desired goals that is, we ll get what we want we have to be able to anticipate, to be able to predict what the physical world is going to do and what the people in it are going to do ( A First Look... , 2015). • 26. The Three Factors Of Juvenile Delinquency In the United States, juvenile delinquency is becoming a major problem in the communities across the country. Because of the actions that these juveniles engage in on a regular basis, taxpayers across the country are having to shell out hundreds upon thousands of dollars to rehabilitate these children in order to help them make better choices. This leads citizens to wonder what factors actually cause juveniles to live a life of crime rather than success. In short, there are three main factors that often cause children to live a life of crime. These three factors are social influences, psychological characteristics, and academic potential. The first factor that often leads to juvenile delinquency involves the child s social influences within their communities. The community of individuals that a child is normally around on a normal basis includes family, friends, and neighbors. Depending on the overall quality of the relationship that the child has with each member of their community, they maybe more or less inclined to commit crimes. According to the National Criminal Justice Reference Service, juveniles who experience abuse or neglect from any member of their community may be more inclined to become deviant (n.d.). For example, if a father abuses his child, the odds of the child s willing to resort to deviance becomes significantly higher than a father who treats his son like a normal parent. Another way a child can be socially exposed to deviance is through example. If a parent is always in a run with law enforcement on a constant basis, that child may grow up to be just like them simply because that is how they were raised. The third and final social influence comes outside of the family circle where the actions that a child s friends partake in can also determine whether or not the child will pursue acts of deviance. The influence of a friend s actions can either be positive or negative depending on the values of the friend. For instance, say a child named Johnny hangs around a group of troublemakers who always wreck havoc, smoke joints, and talk trash about everyone. This kind of relationship between Johnny and his friends can lead Johnny to becoming just like the troublemakers because of peer pressure. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While in case of oral communication, it is impossible to fix and delegate responsibilities on the grounds of speech as it can be taken back by the speaker or he may refuse to acknowledge. DISADVANTAGES OF WRITTEN * The disadvantage of this is that written communication does not save upon the costs. It costs huge in terms of stationery and the manpower employed in writing/typing and making the leaflets. * The disadvantage of written is for example if Asda sends letter, memos or emails people may not always read them. * Another disadvantage of written communication is that it does not answer questions and there is no immediate feedback. So therefore if Asda sends Letter they cannot have immediate feedback because it
