2. An Analysis of the First Paragraph of O’Connor’s The...
An Analysis of the First Paragraph of O Connor s The Artificial Nigger
?In The Artificial Nigger, Flannery O Connor commingles characteristic Christian imagery with
themes evocative of her Southern setting. In this essay, a close reading of the first paragraph of this
story elucidates the subtle ways in which O Connor sets up these basic themes of redemption and
forgiveness. An additional paragraph will examine the ramifications of this reading on the intertwined
racial aspects of the story, which are connected by a common theme of master/servant imagery, which
is integral to the first paragraph.
In this story, the key character is named Mr. Head, which immediately signals to the reader that this
character is suggestive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Head, symbolically undergirding all of humanity. The symbolism reminds this reader of the Irish poet
Brendan Kenneally s line: to serve the age, betray it. The act of betraying and the resultant Christian
forgiveness, this reading suggests,is fundamental to humankind s existence on earth.
O Connor continues with the moonlight imagery, but casts it in dichotomous terms. The moon s light
spilling into the bedroom paused as if it were waiting for his permission to enter but upon entering,
cast a dignifying light on everything. References indicative of servitude continue with the depiction of
the trousers thrown upon the chair like the garment some great man had just flung to his servant and in
the characterization of the chair stiff and attentive as if it was awaiting an order. Such portrayals set up
for the reader the curious relationship between Mr. Head and his grandson, where the roles each
character plays often switch Mr. Head s moral lesson that he expects to teach Nelson is successful, but
a similar moral lesson is taught to Mr. Head through Nelson, who becomes the agent of forgiveness
who facilitates a deeper understanding within his grandfather s soul. The connection between
father/son and/or master/servant is often overturned in this story.
In finishing this first paragraph, O Connor comments implicitly on the servant imagery by

3. Quebec Nationalism
The quote by Jean Charest describes the wishes of Quebec citizens. He underlines that the Quebecois
want to be recognized as being different , having their own unique history and identity . Cherest
claims as well that wanting these to be recognized causes no threat to national unity. Jean Charest is a
Quebec Politician, meaning that he speaks for the whole province when making statements such as
these, therefore it can be assumed that this quote is relaying the thoughts of the collective not just the
individual. I disagree to this quote to a partial extent as it falsely claims to have had no threat to
Canada s national Unity and indirectly elevates the idea of Quebec separatism, I however agree that
this province should remain its own nation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He describes his province as being different and rich with history and identity, but not being a part of
Canada s history or identity. If the separatists of Quebec would have won in the 1995 referendum, the
results would not turn in favour of their nation. The way that the international trade system works is
that the East relies heavily of the west for its natural resources, for example oil from Alberta. If quebec
were to separate from Canada, it would metaphorically be losing its left arm and would be left
helpless in the natural resources department. In other spect of trade, the trans national railway that

Canada s economy take a hit, Quebec s would plummet. In addition to the cross border trading being

Critical Analysis #3: The Internet Should Have Killed Weird Al If you examine the pop charts from 30
years ago, it is hard to identify many artists who ve managed to stay relevant into today s generation.
Weird Al, is one artist that has been active in the music industry since the mid 1970 s and has been
able to keep up with the times way before the dawn of social media, online media, and vlogging. For
his most recent album, Weird Al designed a creative advertising strategy for the digital age with his
#8videos8days experiment. This strategy included eight videos in eight days for eight songs from the

Weird Al risks the possibility that the younger audiences that he typically reaches may not be as
interested in his videos as he ages and portrays what reminds them of their grandfathers.
Unfortunately for Weird Al, he is not getting any younger and the majority of those who go online to
watch videos and engage in social media are millennials. 74 percent of 14 18 year olds and 68 percent
of 19 24 year olds in the U.S. use YouTube today (Bennett, 2014) a significant portion of the
millennial group uses this platform that Weird Al uses to show his videos and new song releases.
Weird Al is going to have to find new trendy ways to keep the younger audience interested in his
content and music which is going to be discussed next. Many opportunities exist for Weird Al with the
new focus on releasing singles and communicating videos, music, and content through social media.
He can build awareness for his brand and generate a viral trend on a global scale something he would
have had challenges with when dealing with a record label that has many laws and requirements for
countries outside of the United States. Outside of the United States, countries such as The United
Kingdom and India are becoming increasingly large YouTube markets (Ali, 2014). The opportunity to
reach a much wider audience on a global scale is beneficial to his future especially through a platform

Building Software versus Building a House Building software and building a house have many
similarities as well as differences. There are four aspects that I found in which there are some
similarities and differences. These aspects are planning, materials, design, and schedules. There are
many more aspects that can be used as well as what the aspects have.
Similarities
In order to better understand the similarities and differences between software architecture and
building architecture one needs to know what software is. According to Software Engineering Institute
(2015), The software architecture of a program ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In building architecture the design is hard to change once it is set up. It is also more time consuming to
change and more costly. The last aspect is the scheduling aspect. In software architecture one can
schedule a project to be done in as little as one month depending on the project. Within the building
architecture the scheduling is more time consuming and could take up more time depending if the
stakeholder is approved for certain aspects of the building. In the building architecture one needs to
take into consideration the scheduling when it comes to the inspectors. There are times when they are
able to go and let the stakeholders know what passed and what did not. In software architecture the
program will flag where the program is, making it easier for the programmer to go back and check on
the spot when running the program. In the diagram below one can see the aspects as well as the
differences in both software and building architecture.

10. My School For High School
Years have passed and now I have reached Junior High School. I should be happy because of my
smartness ; I was chosen to go to a special school for student enrichment. However, I am not happy
because the school my mother selected for me is far away from the neighbor, and the school district
where I lived had just built a brand new school within walking distance from my home; most of my
friends are attending there, and I could not understand why my mother chose to send me across town.
However, my mother enrolled me in a different district, which meant I had to travel either by city bus
or walk. The bus trip would take about an hour and the walk was at least 10 15 miles. My mother had
this brainy idea to enroll me in this school for enrichment; somehow this was supposed to be good for
me. It didn t make sense, nor did I care to share her enthusiasm of starting over in a new learning
environment. I was thrust out my comfort zone and probably would not have protested as much if the
change wasn t so drastic. It ll become clearer what I mean by this. The first day of school was filled
with the normal awkwardness; however, it was also permeated with amplified anxiety as I realize this
school was not in a great neighborhood. Some would call this the hood. I thought I was attending a
school for smart people. Now I am getting the meaning of some of my early teachings that there are
two types of smart; street smart and book smart. I am realizing that these two types of people

Entertainment not only consists of movies, music, and television but also literature. The beat
generation spoke against how materialistic people were, and they just simply spoke up that is why
they were seen as rebels. In the world of literature and art, the Beats stood in opposition to the clean,
almost antiseptic formalism of the early twentieth century Modernist, (The Beat Generation) that is
what the Beat generation stood up for. Where literature had a turning point was in 1956 when Howel
was published by Allen Ginsberg. Censorship as a force for modulating public discourse, in the realm
of literature at least, came to an end (The Beat Generation). With their work we can express ourselves
anyway desired, without anyone coming after us. Although the government had a valid reason to be
worried which was the threat of communism, they believed their work had the ideology of
communism. The beat generation was very open minded, intelligent, and had knowledge that still
impact us today such as environmentalism. The entertainment industry had to go through all of these
changes so that they were able to reach true success. Also Veterans coming back from the war with
new priorities(Overview for Films made in Post War Era) was a major cause to the entertainment
industry, they had to come up with ways to expand their content and come up with new things. They
had to fight for their right of freedom of speech, and although for some it was a long fight they were

As society has progressed, composers have adapted and appropriated the archetypal quest so as to
reflect the values of the time s culture appropriately. This has been a necessary course of action, to
ensure their writing conveys the quest and its respective elements in a manner that will be understood
by the responder in the relevant time period. The texts The Odyssey (Homer 8th Century BC), In the
Shadow of No Towers (Art Spiegelman 2004) and The Picture of Dorian Gray (Oscar Wilde 1890)

I wanted to sort out the fragments of what I d experienced from the media images that threatened to

responder to develop further insight into Art s reasoning behind how he has structured the comics, and
why he chose to create them. The time period after September 11 in which the comic was devised and
then published was the beginning of a very invasive media presence. The way in which the media
dramatized its information, and bombard its audience with it, made it very hard for one to distinguish
between the facts of events, and the images the media would present us with. This is very much
evident in Art s somewhat satirical and cynical representation of the media.
Another theme that is prevalent throughout his work, is the idea that the government s ideas and
policies were heavily engrained into the American media. On one of his splash pages, he depicts
himself as a downtrodden writer, who is walking with his head down, his clothes and beard are shown
to be dishevelled. He says Despair slows me down, so I worry whether NYC, or I, will still be around
to see if my page was well printed . The use of several commas allows this to be read as if Art is
speaking aloud, these are thoughts being projected straight out, without pause or mental editing. This

Mississippi State University and author of several more books about the Civil War, Marszalek claims

that the overall lack of order is what had driven the nation into chaos. As he moved into Kentucky,
Sherman quickly realized that he did not have enough men to take on the Confederate army. His
paranoia and continuous Union failures, made public with the help of reporters, impacted Sherman
very harshly. While in Kentucky, Sherman faced analysis from the press; the negative critiques of his
discipline, the absence from his family, and the realization of yet another failure deepened his
depression, stirring rumors that he is unfit to lead (163). Marszalek disagrees with this idea, stating

15. Comparing The Australian Economy And The Chinese Economy
Economic development refers to the sustained actions of communities, federal, state, and local
governments that improve our standard of living through the creation of jobs, new technologies,
economic health, and the creation of an overall better quality of life. The comparison between the
Australian economy and the Chinese economy provide a detailed and comprehensive view of both
nations. China is of political, cultural and economic strategic importance to Australia. Economic
growth, employment/unemployment, environmental sustainability, the role of government (in health
care, education and welfare), and quality of life determine the economic development of a nation.
Australia and China s economic growth vary in terms of different increases in their gross domestic
product, or GDP, which is measured in US dollars. Economic growth refers to a change in a nation s
output of goods and services over a period of time which is reflected by gross domestic product.
During periods of economic boom, GDP is generally high. Similarly, during periods of recession, GDP
is generally low. Australia is a mixed market economy, where the government plays a major role in
providing collective goods and services while the private sector makes most of the economic
decisions. Income is determined by the market but the government controls some private sector
behaviour, minimum wage requirements, redistribution of income and other related economic
activities. China, on the other hand, is a centrally

some people were actually accusing Brutus to Caesar of being involved in it, Caesar laid his hand on
his body and said to the accusers: ˜Brutus will wait for this skin of mine (The Life of Caesar 233).
What Caesar meant was that he knew Brutus would never do such a thing because he was not ˜base

The major difference between these two biographies is the different versions of Caesar s assassination.

The construction of a log home is very different from conventional construction, even if people have
built a home in the past. Planning and research is key in a large project like this. The carpenter should
prepare for the task in all possible ways. In order for people to build a home that meets their needs,
they need to take into consideration the following steps and instructions (Building Guide Step by Step
Log Home). First, the person building the house must be emotionally and financially prepared. They
can start by putting a down payment down, or finding out if they need to apply for a loan. According
to Ed Conarchy, a loan originator for Cherry Creek Mortgage Company, when building a house, the
most important thing to consider is the mortgage, so people need to handle that situation right away.
They can talk to mortgage professionals to get advice. People must also find out if there are any fees
needed to be paid for such as maintenance, repair, or mortgage related fees. The carpenter should have
his or her employment situation properly handled as well. This means they should feel secure about
their job. When building, people should be prepared to stay in one place for a long period of time too.

21. Andy Griffith Show Compare And Contrast
In contrast the shows The Andy Griffith Show and I Love Lucy, these shows have plenty of
differences. The first difference between the two shows, is the setting of the shows; a big city versus a
small hometown. I Love Lucy was set in a big city, during the late 1095 s, that is home to lots of
people and many different businesses and places. The Andy Griffith Show was set in a small town,
during the early 1950 s, everyone knows everyone by name. The location of both shows sets the stage
for the storylines to come.
Secondly, regarding the social status, Andy, from The Andy Griffith Show was a single father to his
son Opie, and took care of his Aunt Bea and was also the town sheriff. He had his trusted deputy Otis.

The characters on The Andy Griffith Show had a small comedic side, but the show was about doing
the right thing and good moral values. Andy was constantly thinking of the other person(s) and there
was always a good lesson learned every episode. In one episode, Andy and Otis decided to switch
Aunt Bea s pickles with store bought pickles, as the ones she made were terrible and they did not want
to hurt her feelings or their stomachs. I Love Lucy on the other hand was all about the comedy. Lucy
was frequently trying to find a way to get stuff done in an odd matter. In one of the episodes we
watched Lucy tried to get the answers to a radio show she signed them up for as she found out Desi
was not as smart as he made himself seem.
The third contrast between these shows was the filming style that was used. I Love Lucy was
produced using a multi camera telefilm method. The show was also filmed in front of a live audience,
which gave the sitcom more life. The Andy Griffith Show on the other hand was filmed using a single
camera technique. Those factors alone changed the feel of the shows. With The Andy Griffith Show,
you could feel him walking though out the town. With I Love Lucy there was the looking in

22. Filial Duty In King Lear
Although differing in choices of medium and separated by over 200 years, the values of the two texts
are transcendent of time and are shaped completely by their context. Whilst this, understanding the
characters illustrated in both King Lear and Ran, provides us with a moment of reflection into our own
society, evoking the importance of family, filial virtue, the monarchy, and a great chain of being.
During the Elizabethan and Sengoku era, a family was viewed as an economical unit, allowing future
generations to build on from the success of previous generations in the form of inheritance. Due to this
inheritance, it was expected of children to carry out their filial duty by obeying and respecting their
parents. Hence, the audiences would have viewed the fracturing of the bonds between the children and
their parents as severe as the breakdown of society itself. Shakespeare expresses the importance of
filial duty through the form of inheritance, conducted via the love test , Gonerill and Regan through
insincere remarks impress Lear due to his preference for appearance over reality. Cordelia unlike, her
two sisters, challenges her father flaw, truthfully expressing a much deeper love which is evoked in act
2, scene 4, as she says You have begot me, bred me, lov d me, I return those duties back at are right fit,
obey you, love you and most honour you. she harbours no grudge against her father s cruelty towards
her, but moreover reinforces her love, devotion and loyalty to

clinical reasoning impact stated.
As stated previously, stroke occurs due to inadequate blood flow to the brain which results in cell
death in that area of the brain. Blood supply to the brain comes from the internal carotid arteries
(ICA), which accounts for 80% of total supply, and the vertebral arteries (VA) (Vrselja et al., 2014, p.

24. All Shall Be Well Analysis
Throughout the book Julian explains her beliefs and understandings of Jesus Christ and the gift of
salvation that was given to his people. Julian has a strong emphasis on motherly love and how that
plays a role in why God chose to give salvation to his people. Julian also talks about what she believes
sin is, how love is a cause for many things, and how it all connects together. All Shall Be Well shows
how Julian believes what God has done for us was done not thru wrath but something else. The first
main thing that Julian talks about is what she believes sin and Hell are. Julian explains that she
believes that sin is no thing; it did not come from God and He is the cause of all things. She believes
that sin and Hell are a part of misreading reality unreality and self created. She believes that Hell is the
separation from God. Both Hell and sin cannot be a thing, according to Julian, because they cannot be
a part of God; He is all things. God is holy and good and both sin and Hell are evil; therefore, cannot
be a part of God s being, or even in his presence. They are both are present in the world only because
they are fitting. Sin and Hell make up nothing yet they are present because we have created it.

would be no love. This can be explained by how Christ suffered, and still does, for us because he loves
us: and yet still he suffers for us (p. 96). This is her prime example on why suffering is a part of
loving. We could not love if there was no suffering, and that is why God lets us suffer. She believes
that it was done this way because a world where love is possible can only be possible if it is a world

Mexico s Business Cycle
The term business cycle or economic cycle refers to the fluctuations of economic activity around its
long term growth trend. It involves shifts over time between periods of relatively rapid growth of
output recovery and prosperity, and periods of relative stagnation or decline contraction or recession.
These fluctuations are often measured using real gdp.
Despite being termed cycles, these fluctuations in economic growth and decline do not follow a purely
mechanical or predictable periodic pattern. In recent years economic theory has moved towards the
study of economic fluctuation rather than a business cycle . Some economists believe calling the

Since the nature of the financing flows to Mexico were short run, the vulnerability of the economy
increased due to these adverse shocks, resulting in capital outflows and a collapse of the exchange rate

adjustment program including support schemes for the banking industry, a floating exchange rate, the
tightening of monetary policy, fiscal consolidation and restrained income policies. This resulted in an

Task switching is the cognitive ability to switch between one task to the next. Research shows that
when a person switches from one task to another, there will be a higher incidence of errors coupled
with slower reaction time (switch cost) as opposed to trials where a person is doing the same task over

would like to see more studies where participants are engaging in more mundane activities. The results
would probably be consistent with the findings from prior studies. A factor to consider is that the
studies conducted in a lab on computers are quick, efficient, and concise. If we were to create a study
where people were engaging in the same tasks (data entry/answering phone calls) as the Executive
Assistant mentioned earlier, the method would be more complex and time consuming. However, I am
intrigued to discover more on this topic by exploring other possibilities in different

42. Essay about The music industry-globalizing in many ways
Edi K.
THE MUSIC INDUSTRY GLOBALIZING IN MANY WAYS
The music industry is in a time of growth at this very moment. The environment for its growth has
been increasing rapidly on many geographical boundaries and has been established through
information technology and Internet. In this paper I will analyze how the music industry not only has
been affected by Globalization as an economic institution but also that it has become a worldwide
globalized commodity. First, I will begin by analyzing how the music industry, though its
consumption is not a necessity, it is affected by large economic factors and has become a large Music
Market. Furthermore I will analyze how the music market has globalizing tendencies ... Show more

The popular music industry in the late 1990s was dominated by a small number of integrated
corporations with headquarters in Europe, the United States and Japan. This music market starts
simply with an artist and moves along through many steps to the consumer. Everything has its start
when a musician presents his music to a music manager, and if he/she finds the music promising, a
contract is signed between the two, recordings are made and a marketing plan is drafted for the

43. Freudian Paradigm Of Mental Illness Research Paper
The Freudian paradigm of mental health states that that mental illness stems from repressed emotion,
and unidentified conflicts within the unconscious mind and could be treated using his personally
designed mode of therapy called, Psychoanalysis. Freud also believed that one could only understand
a person s mental illness through intimate understanding of that person s past and personality, not
through taxonomic diagnosis. Although Freud employed some use of taxonomy of mental illness, it
never was used consistently or in a uniformed manner that actually constituted a formal process or
standards for clinical diagnosis. The biomedical paradigm on the other hand attributes the cause of
mental illness to be specifically triggered by chemical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the Freudian Paradigm in itself could actually be understood in the context of Grahams
preferred Imperfect Rationality Theory. This is due to Freud s view on mental illness, and treatment
being on focused on mental and behavioral aspects of the mind, and a lack of rationality within the
person rather than the physiological dysfunction of the brain itself. In Freud s practice one does not
need chemical imbalance in the brain, or psychotropic drugs, for a person s mental illness to be
considered valid and

Jaws (1975)
Media Coursework
Peter Benchley wrote Jaws the novel before it was made into a film directed by Steven Spielberg.
Jaws is a thriller/horror with the main aim being to build up suspense and tension. When making the
film Jaws Steven Spielberg had to face the challenging task of translating Benchley s popular novel
into a hit movie whilst still maintaining the suspense created through the many textual devices used by
Benchley, such as language techniques and sentence structure. Spielberg managed use different
camera angles and shots alongside lighting effects to create atmosphere and tension to pretty much the
same effect. In the background he uses music and sound effects to add to the dramatic visual images

Another interesting point is as Chrissie is removing her clothes while running it is almost as she is
leaving herself exposed to potential danger and making herself more vulnerable. At this point as the
viewer sees Chrissie isolated in the water they realise that she is facing danger only limited by their
own imagination.
As Chrissie continues swimming, the frame changes to a point of view shot, accompanied by the same
music as in the opening shot. The audience s thoughts change immediately from the images of the
cheerful beach party to the earlier reference of the shark in the opening sequence. This provides a very
effective contrast. The audience s expectations are realised when Chrissie feels a sharp pain, and then
begins splashing about in the water as she is attacked.
The unseen shark thrashes her around in the water, and she eventually clings onto a buoy, making its
bell ring, in a vain attempt to alert the nearby community. After a final grasp for breath, she finally
disappears under the surface of the water leaving the viewers with the burden of her death.
The second victim of the shark is a young boy named Alex, this time the scene is set in along the
beach, crowded with people enjoying the long Independence Day holiday. Also on the beach is police
chief Brody with his own family. Sunbathers lie on the packed beach. This is a very unlikely place and
time for an eventful scene. Again the

45. Persuasive Essay On Plastic Straws
Americans use over 500 million plastic straws every single day that s enough to circle the earth s
circumference 2.5 times (Ives et al 2017). By 2050, there will be more plastic debris in the ocean than
fish (Kaplan 2016). These staggering statistics are unacceptable and it is our duty to find a realistic,
sustainable solution to the issue. Plastic pollution is one of today s most pressing problems, and
minimizing the use of straws is a feasible and realistic step in the right direction. Although the
problem of pollution is widely understood, the extent of the damage by plastic straws is not as known
or acknowledged. Education of children and adults is an integral component of shifting cultural norms
and mindsets. With a more informed population, people will be more likely to refuse and forgo plastic
utensils. Furthermore, businesses and influential icons play a vital role in this opportunity. Some
restaurants give out both a cup and straw as a mere convenience and a no straw policy implementation
in such businesses can make a big difference. By initially targeting coastal areas of the United States
to adopt eco friendly methods, eventually this transition could inspire a nation wide law to ban plastic
straws to globally shift society environment interactions to sustainability. While eliminating plastic
straws entirely is ideal, it is difficult to make an abrupt shift; an attainable solution is to gradually
switch to bio degradable and eco friendly straws like glass, metal,

46. Essay On Feral Cat Mitigation
Feral Cat Mitigation Efforts: TNR and More With feral cats posing ecological and public health
threats, many different techniques, reflecting a range of moral and ethical values, have been proposed
and implemented. TNR is considered one of the most humane methods, but other methods that exist
include euthanasia, trap and eradication, and more intensive versions of TNR that include vaccinations
and rehabilitations. These methods vary in their effectiveness, practicality, cost and social acceptance.
Additionally, differences in how people perceive animals and their intrinsic value, have made feral cat
mitigation efforts an extremely charged topic for animal welfare advocates, policy makers,
conservationists and pet owners. When analyzing methods, it s important to evaluate what their goals
are in terms of managing feral cat populations, state their ethical and moral perspective, and determine
their effectiveness. Additionally, their impact on cat behavior will be explored using evidence from a
variety of related studies, which will serve to assist in judging the effectivity of the population control
method. The method for controlling feral cat populations that is focused on in this paper is TNR,
which stands for Trap Neuter Release (though, for clarity, the term neuter refers to sterilization of both
male and female cats). This method is extremely popular around the world due to the fact that it is
considered extremely humane; rejecting the idea that healthy feral cats

The Life of a Registered Sex Offender

Abstract
When we hear the phrase, sex offender, we normally feel repulsed. We think of dirty old creepy men. I
for one used to do this, I won t lie. This is because people like to rush to judgment. But my opinions
changed when I came to the realization that it s not just creepy old men who are sex offenders. I want
to talk about them, but not those who are serial rapists or child molesters; they don t deserve to be
talked about. I m talking about people who are convicted, whether it s falsely, or unjustly, and have to
wear a stamp on their forehead for the rest of their lives saying they are a sex offender.
I have an uncle named Michael and he s 29; he ll be 31 in October. In 2006 in Fredericksburg,
Virginia, he was convicted of rape. A young woman lied and said he raped her, and now he will
forever be scarred. In many rape cases, the defense will say that the victim was fantasizing the rape or
is lying, but sometimes she really is lying (Siegel, 1995, p. 304). Virginia has a two tier system for sex
offenders, violent and non violent. Even though Michaels charge was for the rape of an adult, he is
still considered a violent sexual predator, forever. This means he can t go to McDonalds, he can t go to
see his nieces and nephews, and he couldn t even go to my high school graduation two

49. The Struggle in Crime and Punishment Essay
The Struggle in Crime and Punishment
Reading this book makes you ill because from the beginning to the end you watch as psychological
forces eat away at the thoughts and actions of their victim causing him to finally confess to the
hideous crime he has committed. The story is basically the struggle between Raskolnikov s Napoleon
übermensch theory and his conscience which make him confess to his crime. Dostoevsky s genius is
in describing how Raskolnikov struggles in his thoughts and actions. His thoughts become
increasingly disjointed and desperate and his actions show that he has an increasing need to escape the
uncertainty of being convicted, to talk about the crime, to confess, and to suffer for his crime. It is

He lets the criminal incriminate himself. It s uncanny how Profiry manages to keep Raskolnikov
hovering around him until he finally confesses it s also uncanny to realize how natural it is for
Raskolnikov to come under Porfiry s psychological spell. This leads to a central question of the book:
are laws just abitrary human constructs or are there psychological laws which govern our behavior in
societies. Raskolnikov believes (as he wrote in his article) that people can rise above human laws as
Napoleon did, but Profiry (and Dostoevsky) believe otherwise:
What is running away? it s merely formal; the point isn t that he won t run away because he has
nowhere to run to, but that psychologically he won t escape, he, he! What an expression! By a law of
his nature he wouldn t escape, even if he had somewhere to escape to. Have you ever seen a moth with
a candle? Well, he ll be just like that, he ll circle round me as if I were a candle: Freedom will no
longer be a boon to him; he will begin to brood, he will get himself into a muddle, entangle his own
feet in a net, and worry himself to death! . . . More than that, he himself will provide me with a
mathematical proof, of the nature of two and two make four if only I allow a long enough interval
between the acts of the drama . . . And he ll keep on, keep on circling round me, closer and closer, and
then, plop! he ll fly straight into my mouth and

In conclusion, by using medical cannabis it allows the patient to stay happy and healthy.
Finally, medical marijuana can induce appetite problems due to AIDS. When a person is diagnosed
with the disease they are aware that there is no cure at this time but making it possible to survive with
is an option. While a human is caring AIDS they are given treatments to help cure infections caused
