Lady Of Shalott Comparison
The selections in this Echo: The Quest for an Ideal, all present alike themes in various perspectives.
The theme, reaching for a goal we desire to achieve can encourage us to grow and evolve, although, if
that goal is for perfection the outcomes can be devastating, is displayed in multiple selections. Two
selections that will be explored are the poem The Lady of Shalott by Alfred Tennyson and the song
Candle in the Wind by Elton John and Bernie Taupin. These selections provide sufficient evidence to
support the overall theme of The Quest for an Ideal.
The poem, The Lady of Shalott by Alfred Tennyson, provides an allegorical meaning of an artist
trying to perfect their work and sacrificing a great deal in order to achieve perfection, ... Show more

This song is a eulogy that was written for Marilyn Monroe after her tragic passing due to an overdose.
Marilyn Monroe s goal was to be famous and to be the image of perfection, but when she obtained the
fame that she believed she wanted, she felt troubled as she felt like she was playing a role and not
being true to herself. In the line, And they made you change your name, it displays the pressure that
she was under in order to achieve her goal of fame. Marilyn Monroe was told to change her name
from Norma Jean to Marilyn Monroe in order to become the perfect person that everyone wanted her
to become. This made her feel as if she was constantly playing a role and lead to a source of
discontentment in her life which led to her untimely death, a devastating consequence of reaching for
perfection. Another reference to the song is, Never knowing who to cling to, this represents the
loneliness in her life when she achieved her goal of fame. Although, she had accomplished her goal
and was what many considered to be perfect, she had no one around her to give her support and when
times were hard she had no one that she could rely on. To the outside world, it seemed like Marilyn
Monroe was the essence of perfection, but, she had her demons and felt lonesome in her own life. This
again is a devastating consequence of having a goal of perfection. A lyric of the song, And pain was
the price you paid, summarizes the theme of the unit as while she was reaching to obtain her goal of
perfection, in the end all she felt was pain and loneliness. The result of Marilyn Monroe s goal of
perfection was ultimately destructive as it was a factor in her

Female Sexuality Within Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre
Charlotte Brontë s Jane Eyre sets a strong example of female sexuality in the Victorian era. The title
character confronts herself with her feelings for Mr. Rochester and her growing throughout the novel.
She eventually finds the courage to embrace herself as she is. Jane s independent mind and nature
contradict the grain of Victorian society. She defies historical notions of female sexuality and
Victorian codes and rules on sexuality. Brontë reimagines the Victorian notion of marriage as she
emphasizes Jane s education and female work. The Introduction of 1983 s The Woman Question Vol.
2 states, Almost any public statement bearing on the Woman Question whether an essay, a review, a
novel, a poem, a lecture, a cartoon, or a painting was likely to generate a chain of responses, and to be
read as a response to prior statements in an ongoing public discussion (Helsinger xi). This quote
conveys the message of Victorian times and their grasp on femininity. Many people, like Charlotte
Brontë, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and John Stuart Mill, disagreed with common conceptions and
advocated for women s beliefs. Others, like those belonging to the True Womanhood Cult, were
motivated, less by chauvinism than by deep needs and genuine concern (57). Self sacrifice and a
submissive role were expected virtues of femininity. Physicians and scientists also introduced a single
minded approach to women s sexuality and behavioral nature. One of the most important and adverse
aspects

Literary Analysis Of Classical Landscape By Charles Sheeler
Classical landscape by Charles Sheeler is an exterior oil on canvas of the Estate of Mrs. Edsel B. Ford,
Grosse Pointe Farms (figure 1) filled with deep, hidden irony. It was painted in 1931, and is based on
a watercolor study. It s a calm, clean, and serene painting that takes your breath away. It s depicting a
place someone would want to be in, a place where things get done, and a place where one can go to
achieve this idea of the American dream. Charles Sheeler used American industry as a major theme of
his art, his work lends itself to an analysis in terms of geometric forms he examines his subject matter
so closely in order to fully understand the composition, the effect, and the design he wants to depict.
Sheeler painted the plant s exterior as an idyll, a beautiful, picturesque scene of the industrial age
booming; however, in reality the United States was in the middle of the worst years of the Great
Depression. Therefore, this painting done in Sheeler s hyper realistic artistic style is not actually
depicting what the factory actually looked like.
He is using his photographs to distort and change the perspective in order to better suit his patrons.
Charles s Sheeler is a commissioned artist. Classical Landscape was commissioned by Edsel Ford in
order to promote the Ford Company and increase the overall feelings toward industrialization . Sheeler
achieved this due to Classical Landscapes light color palette, clean lines, reduced forms, and intense
knowledge of the subject matter, his painting only hints at the machines domination of humankind ,
allowing for viewers to look at the painting and feel comforted by the lack of human presence but not
overwhelmed by it. Sheeler s depiction of industrialization lacked human presence. This was
uncommon at the time, and created a very different effect than other artists did. He focused on the
building in isolation rather than on the hectic activity around the assembly line this switched the focus
form not on the people of America but on the technological advances and the progress America was
making. Looking further into the painting s subject matter, it is intriguing to see that Sheeler chose to
depict something on cite that dealt with the

Stents that deliver anti proliferative drugs from durable polymer, have reduced both clinical and
angiographic restenosis compared with bare metal stents without increasing adverse events (AEs)
including death or myocardial infarction (MI) (1 2). However, permanent polymers may be associated
with hypersensitivity reactions, delayed and/or incomplete vascular healing which may contribute to
an increased risk of both late (30 days to 1 year) and very late (beyond 1 year) stent thrombosis (ST)
which was particularly evident following first generation DES (5,6). Even newer durable polymers
with enhanced biocompatibility and improved clinical outcomes have still been incriminated in
chronic inflammation, thrombosis and neoatherosclerosis (which occurs earlier and with increased
prevalence following both 1st and 2nd generation DES (7,8,9). To reduce the risk of stent thrombosis

The Importance Of Student Privacy
Safety and privacy both are important factors on a College campus. In 2007, Seung Hui Cho, an angry
and disturbed student, shot to death 32 students and faculty of Virginia Tech, wounded 17 more, and
then killed himself. Cho was a mentally disturbed student who had suicidal and homicidal tendencies.
Ever since the Virginia Tech shooting happened, there has been debate whether safety is more
important than student privacy or not. Many people claim that privacy protection laws are the reasons
that campuses aren t safe anymore, where others believe that everyone needs personal space and a
right to have privacy. There are people who claim that student privacy should be ignored to maintain
campus safety, where others believe that every student should have the right of privacy; however,
student privacy should be protected, while alternative methods for campus safety should be taken.
Many people believe that campus safety is more important than student privacy, hence it should be
ignored. There have been incidents where disturbed students sometimes hurt themselves and
sometimes hurt others, like the Virginia Tech incident. After the incident, many people came forward
claiming that they knew that the student was disturbed, and need assistance, but due to student privacy
laws, they didn t do anything. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is being
blamed here because according to FERPA schools can t release student s health and academic records

Lord Of The Flies Themes
Golding´s book The Lord of the Flies has many different background meanings to it. Two themes that
some critics think of are that people are born with evil already in them and that there is no hope for
humanity. These themes are shown throughout the book in what the characters say and do. In this
book there are many conflicts where the boys bully each other in an inhumane way, which shows how
evil they really are. Also the boys lose hope for being rescued and start to go back to the more
primitive ways of mankind. Golding definitely comes across in his work as some who may think that
there is no hope for mankind and that all people are born with evil in them. One of the first examples
of there being a theme for no hope for humanity is what Piggy first says to Ralph. Ralph and Piggy are
arguing (pg. 14) and Piggy says They re all dead...Nobody don t know we re here. Your dad don t
know, nobody don t know. When he says this, Piggy shows the reader that he thinks there is no hope
for them to be rescued from the island. To some people, Golding may be hinting that there is no hope
for people to be rescued from times of war. War seems to be ongoing, when one war ends another war
begins. Until people end wars there is no hope for peace in the world. ... Show more content on

Ralph learns that Jack plans on having everyone hunt for him is when he speaks with Samneric (pg.

there is no hope for humanity to keep moving forward. When the boys decide to hunt Ralph it shows a
more primitive side of humans, in the way that instead of working something out, they decide to
eliminate the problem all together. Golding makes it seem as if he thinks that humans will start to go
back to their original state and that there is no hope that people will

Dance Performance Analysis Essay
Dance performance Analysis
Acceptance
The performers danced to uplifting and complementing words. The messages were a mixture of
parents of the performers and other students themselves. Having genuine compliments intensified the
self love message of the dance. In addition to the selection of music, the choreography also expanded
on acceptance. The dancers had mini solos, but after they finished their mini solo, they became
background support for the solos after their own. The dancers dance moves displayed an open tone;
their moves mimicked a happy and accepting encounter. Near the end of the performance, two of the
performers hugged as part of their choreography, which created a more loving and accepting
atmosphere. The dance addresses a serious

Pasadena Museum Of California Art Analysis
The Pasadena Museum of California Art has a beautiful exterior with an open air staircase with moody
light play from an oculus above its entrance to a three story facility. The walls all around it are covered
in complicated patterns and symbols. The building definitely stands out against all the other buildings
in the area. The inside is very roomy, and filled with lots of artwork all around.
The first piece of artwork is by William S. Rice. This piece is a painting, with many, many different
colors. There is a parrot sitting atop a branch, and it seems to be looking down at a butterfly resting on
a branch below it. I picked this piece because of the many vibrant colors it had. There was a parrot on
a branch, and it seemed to be staring down ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It portrayed two different animals, in what seemed like a friendly situation, basically hanging out with
each other. The artist s view of the world with these piece of art work might be that he wants world
peace and everything to get along with each other just how the parrot and the butterfly are. The artist
wants world peace basically, but us Christians should know that that is impossible, only in heaven. So
this painting may just show what the artist wishes the world could be like.
The second piece of art is called: Wounds of Existence. This seems to be a painting on a unusually
rugged surface made out of un sanded wooden planks. It depicts what seems like, a man and a women
with their faces close to each other with sad faces. The subject matter of this piece seem to be mellow
and sad. I picked this piece because it jumped out at me at how absolutely unique it was, being painted
on wooden planks.
All the colors in this piece are more dark, and no color really stand out above the rest. Even though the
surface of this painting was very un even, I could still see the shapes, colors and patterns. For the
canvas of the painting, it doesn t look like something you d paint on. It appears that he just nailed a
bunch of wooden planks on top of each other and next to each other and painted on them. Parts of this
piece were probably painted with a brush, and maybe spray paint as

History Of Surfing
While recalling memories about surfing I began to remember certain events that demonstrated the
different mindsets of surfers, one of these was a conversation with my dad when I was younger and
we were on the southern California coast. We were talking about how people were starting to surf
behind boats, I thought it would be something cool to try since you would be able to ride a wave that
goes on forever. My dad on the other hand resented the idea of surfing behind a boat, as he put it there
is a certain connection that you feel when you have paddled all the way out and you are waiting for a
wave to come, and then you feel the wave starting to form. He is the type of surfer where the

Frame occurs when there is a good sandbar a little way off shore and it causes the waves to look like
the letter A. The peak of a wave is the highest part of a wave when it is about to break. The shoulder
of a wave is off to the side of the wave; this term is typically used to insult another surfer by calling
them a girl for taking off on the shoulder instead of the peak. A close out occurs when the whole wave
breaks at once, most of the time a close out is a bad thing but if it s a hallow close out then you can get

Supernatural Elements Of Macbeth By William Shakespeare Essay
Whether or not someone accepts the supernatural does not mean it does not exist for another. The
power of the supernatural is something that has been around since civilization began because people
recognized there was something beyond their control. In Shakespeare s Macbeth, Macbeth is
confronted with supernatural firsthand, however, they were viewed as forces of evil. Although the
witches, the ghosts, the prophecies, and all the other supernatural elements in the play are dramatized
and feared, they represent how society has come to transition away from viewing these supernatural
manifestations negatively. In Shakespeare s era, the pure belief in the supernatural was much more
widely expressed but not accepted. Macbeth shows that Shakespeare wrote not only for entertaining
audiences but also for playing on the widespread fear of the supernatural. I think that this play being
so heavily doused in supernatural elements suggests that he wanted to use these beliefs, whether or not
he personally believed in them. I think that while he is playing with these ideas, they hold at least
some truth for us now because of the way we interpret what Shakespeare was interpreting. For
Macbeth, the witches and the role of their prophecy was hugely instrumental because of the stakes for
him. When we transport ourselves into Macbeth s shoes, maybe not his time, we can see how anybody
would be less likely to take the prophecy with a grain of salt. Maybe we would not exactly go to the
lengths

Though there were many political, economic, and social reforms introduced during the period of
reconstruction after the Civil War, only some lasted for a period of time. The Compromise of 1877

a president, it also brought the changes in political, social, and economic climates in the South. As a
result of the Compromise of 1877 it effectively marked the end of reconstruction. During the time of
reconstruction, the 13th amendment abolished slavery. It was one of the influential amendments
passed in the constitution. It officially abolished and prohibited slavery and forced an ending to

The Dangers Of Money And Greed In The Pardoners Tale
The danger of money and greed was important in chaucer s time because it describes the character and
what that character was like. For example The immoral Pardoner, who, in a sense, sells away his soul
for the sake of his own avarice, puzzles many modern readers with his strange logic. Already having
laid his considerable guilt upon the table, this corrupted agent of the Church attempts to pawn off his
counterfeit relics for a generous price. Also in the Pardoner s tale the rioters show the dangers on
money and greed because they live loose lives and spend time gambling and drinking in pubs, they are
also disgusting and hateful. A brief summary of the Pardoner tale is The pardoner is a beautiful blonde
haired man who is being loved by everyone. However he is very corrupted and smart and sells fake
religious stuff to people saying very good compliment. On the other hand, the reeve is very serious
and honest business man. He is very smart enough to know what criminals think and do. The pardoner
story tells a great example of the seven deadly sins and reeve s story is mocking of the miller. The
rioters make his own plan to buy poison and kill his friends, and at the end the youngest got stabbed
and killed by the other two,to celebrate the two drank wine which was poisoned by the young
rioter, thus they all died. The moral of this story is that greed can lead to death. Another tale that is an

Rhetorical Analysis Of Stop Being A Sugar Cookie
Stop Being a Sugar Cookie On May 11th 2013, my grandma passed away due to pancreatic cancer. A

had passed away in his sleep. Then on May 14th 2014, my grandpa passed from complications of an
allergic reaction to a medication. So within a year, I was left to deal with three immediate family
deaths, one right after another. Losing such important figures in one s life could leave someone

difficult, yet possible. During this time of hardship, I grew discouraged and saddened, but over time I

The logos Admiral William McRaven includes in his speech helps to strengthen his claim that all it
takes is just one person s actions to affect many others. In the opening of his speech, the Admiral
recalls the university s slogan and explains that the average American will meet 10,000 people in their
life time (McRaven 1) and that if every one of the 8,000 graduates changed the lives of just ten people
and each one of those folks changed the lives of another ten people just ten then in five generations
125 years the class of 2014 will have changed the lives of 800 million people, (1) the audience grasps
the idea that they really can change an abundant number of lives if they believe they can and act upon
those beliefs. Throughout his speech, McRaven s tone remains powerful as he relays his message to
the audience and uses his own experiences to inspire them. Admiral McRaven also uses logos when
stating that his SEAL class was down to just 35 (4) men, when it had started with 150. And then again
in describing the obstacle course which contained 25 obstacles including a 10 foot high wall, a 30 foot
cargo net (McRaven 6). McRaven elaborates on the most challenging obstacle (6) which had a three
level 30 foot tower at one end and a one level tower at the other. In between was a 200 foot long rope,
(6) called the slide for life. McRaven includes this description to illustrate how difficult his time was

Media Violence And Its Effects
Media violence exposure has been investigated as a risk factor for aggression behavior for years. The
impact of exposure to violence in the media the long term development and short term development of
aggressive behavior has been documented. Aggression is caused by several factors, of which media
violence is one. Research investigating the effects of media violence in conjunction with other
predictors of aggression such as; environmental factors and dysfunction within the family household,
is needed in order to better understand its contribution to aggressive behavior. Furthermore, the debate
of whether or not how media violence leads to aggression has received renewed attention following
tragic events; Sandy Hook, Umpqua Community College in Kosenburg, Oregon, 2012 Aurora
shooting, traumatic news coverage, a 8 year old boy intentionally shot and killed elderly caregiver and
countless other events; all of these casualties were caused by media violence. Media violence can be a
murder simulator; by teaching and guiding how to commit aggressive and violent crimes. Aggression
is usually defined by behavioral scientists as behavior that is intended to harm another person.
Common forms of aggression are physical (for example, punching), verbal (for example, saying or
writing hurtful things to another person), and relational (for example, intentionally and publicly not
inviting someone to a social function to harm their social relationships). Violence usually is

Gospel Of Mark Analysis
Bible Scholar David Garland points to two possibilities as to why Mark s Gospel is written in a
narrative style or form. Garland believes the Gospel of Mark either came from an oral story circulating
in the Jerusalem church or it came from a firsthand account of the Apostle Peter. Some bible scholars
point to the idea that the Gospel of Mark was narrativized, so it could be heard rather than be read
silently. Bible scholar Robert Tannehill believes the Gospel of Mark may even have been collected
and delivered orally before it was ever written down. Michael Licona believes if a certain text appears
in all three Synoptics, the Gospel of Mark is the most likely source for Matthew and Luke s accounts.
Licona notes that this rule should not be held hard and fast, since Mark may also have been using an
oral story while Matthew and Luke choose another source or omitted material where it differs in each
of their Gospel s. The Apostle Peter seems to be the eyewitness account which Mark narrates into a
single unified story, which centers around a single central figure Jesus and a group of His closest
companions. If the author of Mark was using an oral story to write his gospel from, this would
definitely explain its narrative style.
Some other evidence which points to the Gospel Mark being an oral story being written down is its
brevity and action where the other gospels such as Luke, which is longer having 24 chapters of more
and 1,100 versus. The Gospel of Mark is the shortest

Cultural And Social Capital Theory
Chen (2003) used the frameworks of cultural and social capital theory to explore factors affecting the
academic success of Chinese students in Los Angeles Community College. The results of the study
indicated that the aspirations of obtaining a higher level academic degree and then transferring to a
four year college or university were considered as the best predictors of academic success for Chinese
international students. Whereas, English proficiency was considered to be a weak factor and social
interaction factors were not too much related to Chinese international students academic success.
Yuan (2011) examined the experiences of ten Chinese students at one American university. This study
examined the challenges faced by Chinese international students, their social interaction, and their
attitudes to adapting into the American culture and society. The result indicated that Chinese
participants identified spoken English and class discussion as their major challenges while studying at
American higher education institutions. Besides, they stated limited interaction with Americans.
However, most of them highly praised the American educational system and regarded their
experiences in the United States as being worthwhile. It is also worth noting that the Chinese
participants expressed mixed perceptions of American culture and different attitudes to cultural
assimilation.

Marissa Fessenden s Article
Hello Class and Professor
This paper will describe Marissa Fessenden s article, The Frustrating Complexity of Adult Acne. I
chose this topic, because acne is a major concern for many people and is one of the most common
dermatologic conditions, affecting millions of individuals in the United States. I personally suffered
with this condition from the age of thirteen until my early thirties. Another reason I chose this article is
for my wife, whom still suffers from acne today. If you ever had acne or known someone who has,
you probably understand the levels of stress and anxiety that comes from this skin condition.
A common misconception is acne only happens during adolescence years and once you become an

One of the main medications, like spironolactone, physicians prescribe for adult hormonal acne was
first used in women with polycystic ovary syndrome, but it wasn t originally intended for them, says
Fessenden. Spironolactone is used to treat hypertension and patients with heart failure. Also it s a
diuretic that causes more frequent urination without draining the salts from the body to function
normal. Studies have shown this drug to not be a good diuretic, however, it s proven to lessen some of
the symptoms of PCOS. Arash Mostaghami, a physician specializing in dermatology and internal
medicine at Brigham and Women s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts explains, Spironolactone has
many different effects on the body, including alterations in the way some hormones are made and
processed . Fessenden continues to say, combining spironolactone with the other mainstay for
hormonal acne treatment, birth control pills, will give about 60 percent of adult women notable
improvement . Also, this drug affects the testosterone in men and the production of androgen in
women. Androgen is a hormone that tells the skin s sweat glands to produce more sebum, that
consequently contributes to acne. Spironolactone suppresses the excess testosterone and blocks the

Comparing The Iliad And The Aeneid
Homer once said, Two urns on Jove s high throne have ever stood, the source of evil one, and one of
good; from thence the cup of mortal man he fills, blessings to these, to those distributes ills; to most he
mingles both. What the great philosopher is establishing is that the source of good and evil are the
same while being different. Reminiscent of how The Iliad and the Aeneid are both epic poems that
share similarities such as the setting, the reoccurring motif of gods, as well as aspects like the two
heroes and the goals to be reached by the plot.
When comparing the similarities between the two epics, The Iliad and the Aeneid, one of the most
obvious is the setting of which they each take place. They are a part of the same era, one where the
world was chaotic and still needed the frivolous gods to meddle. The Trojan War with its destructive
power was a significant setting in both poems and led to the development of each respective plot. In
the face of the dreads of the warfare in both epics, even the most powerful of warriors will experience
fear, and the poets tell the audience details that both armies regret that the war ever began. The Iliad
took place during the actual war. It is very much centralized around the occurrences of the war.
Though the status of fighting a war is glorified, the men can be seen dying ghastly deaths; women
becoming enslaved and shamed, and families torn apart. Ah, put no faith in anything the will of the
gods opposes! See, Priam s virgin

The Boston Massacre In The Incident On King Street
The Incident on King Street is not well known in America but if one was to bring it up in Great Britain
the British could talk for days. In America, The Incident on King Street is well known as the Boston
Massacre. The Boston Massacre is a crucial event in America s early history and is a leading factor in
our freedom from Great Britain. It is a leading cause for the American Revolution and made people
look at British rule in a different light. According to Hiller B. Zobel, author of The Boston Massacre ...
we realized that our country s freedom grew from bloodshed. The Boston Massacre occurred on
March 5th, 1770, but events lead up to an accident of this severity for months, and even years before.
With rulers who ruled from thousands of miles away, it was hard to understand the needs and wants of
the colonist in America. Although the main goal from the rulers in Great Britain was to collect money
from the colonist, the colonist had different goals in mind.
According Jack P. Greene ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Survey Of Secondary Care Pharmacist Independent
A Survey of Secondary Care Pharmacist Independent Prescribers in the West Midlands
Proposal summary
The implementation of pharmacist independent prescribing is an emerging area in healthcare with the
potential to optimise access to medicines. However the actual role of independent prescribers [IP] in
practice is poorly understood and under represented in literature. Current interest in funding for
pharmacist IP by Health Education West Midlands [HEWM] is a major driver behind this research. It
is hoped that this research may be used to help support future investment policies within the West
Midlands [WM].
This undergraduate descriptive observational study aims to identify the role and assess the views of
pharmacist IP working in acute ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However non medical prescribing [NMP] is a growing area within healthcare that has evolved over
the last fifteen years. The aims of NMP are to improve patient care, allow easier patient access to
medicines, increase patient choice, to better utilise the skills of healthcare professionals and introduce
flexible team working across the NHS.1 NMP was first considered following The Crown Report 1999,
in which it was suggested that specific professional groups including pharmacists should prescribe
from a restricted formulary for specific conditions.2 This was followed by the NHS Plan 20003 which
set out policy for the development of NMP. Legal changes in 2003 allowed for the development of
supplementary prescribing [SP] for pharmacists.3
By the spring of 2005 there were over 240 pharmacist SP4 and the barriers to SP began to be
recognised. As stated by Hughes et al these included financial and organisational problems, a general
lack of awareness into the role as well as over bureaucracy of the clinical management plan.5
Consultations in 2005 evaluated the option of further extending the prescribing role of pharmacists to
allow patients greater access to healthcare services and pharmacist knowledge.1 Legal changes in
2006 introduced independent prescribing for pharmacists, enabling the prescribing of any licensed
medicine for any medical condition

Quality Items For An Organization s Reputation
It is important to maintain Quality of their product because Quality items keep up consumer loyalty
and consistency and reduce the danger and expense of providing defective products. Firms have things
they must consider such as: Customer Expectations, their reputation, meeting company standards, the
most important one which is cost.
Customer Expectations Your shoppers anticipate that you will convey quality items. On the off chance
that you don t, they will rapidly search for options. Quality is basic to fulfilling your clients and
holding their dedication so they keep on buying from you later on. Quality items make a vital
commitment to long haul income and benefit. They additionally empower you to charge and keep up
higher costs.
Company Reputation (how can I use that sentence) Quality has a big impact on an organization s
reputation. The internet today can make or break a firm. It does that because it gives shoppers the
ability to share information about a product or service they have received. On the internet, there are
now survey websites. Then there are people who may purchase a product and make a video of them
reviewing the Quality of it and that can damage a company s reputation. In the business world social
media play a major role because the potential buyer can share their dislikes and likes about a product
and they use networking sites such as Facebook, twitter, and Instagram. A solid reputation for quality
can be a vital differentiator in the business

The Importance Of Ban Headscarves In Public Schools
Those in favor of the ban argue that bans are necessary to promote gender equality. Loenen points out
that, a major argument put forward to ban headscarves in public schools derives from the idea that the
headscarf is symbolic of the inferior position of women in Islam and that many girls and women are
pressured into wearing it . It is worthwhile to note here that the same argument was also used by the
ECtHR in Dahlab, where it held that the wearing of the headscarf was hard to square with, among
others, the principle of gender equality . Furthering its view in Dahlab, in Sahin, ECtHR held that the
ban on the wearing of the Muslim headscarf at universities in Turkey served the legitimate purpose,
amongst others, of promoting gender equality. Vakulenko suggests that in both these cases, the
headscarf was attributed a highly abstract and essentialized meaning of a religious item extremely
detrimental to gender equality .
As far as the case law is concerned, another frequent argument raised in favor of the ban is that if
some women are allowed to wear the headscarf it would eventually impose a burden on the women
who choose not to wear it and, thus, they will be forced to wear it as well. In Karaduman , the
European Commission on Human Rights considered that the manifestations of a particular religion
without restrictions may constitute pressure on students who do not practice that religion or those who
adhere to another religion . In this case, a female Muslim applicant was refused a qualification
certificate (after successfully completing her course) because she refused to provide an identity
photograph without her headscarf. Weil writes that in schools where some girls are wearing the
headscarf, the Muslim girls who do not wear it are subject to strong pressure to do so . He also reports
that, in the increasing number of schools where girls wear the hijab, a strong majority of Muslim girls
who do not wear the headscarf called for the protection of the law and asked the commission to ban all
religious exterior signs . According to Weil, this pressure usually comes from parents,
extremist/fundamentalist groups and religious leaders. However, it is important to keep in mind here
that Weil himself admits

The Current Challenges of Cultural Identity Essay
Cultural identity refers to the feeling belonging to a certain culture that is attributed to the upbringing
of an individual in the given culture. Cultural identity gives a person the sense of belonging and
belonging towards their culture. Modern cultural studies show that cultural identification has taken a
new face. Various cultural identifiers can be used to identify the culture of an individual. These
identifiers include nationality, language, location, gender, religious beliefs, history, and ethnicity.
Culture is important in shaping the identity of an individual. The efforts of people trying to preserve
their cultural identities can bring about hatred and division in the society. This is likely to happen

In most case, identity is shaped by culture. Since culture is a set of ideals life practices, routines and
attitudes set up by a certain community hence culture plays a major role in shaping the identity of an
individual. An individual s character and attributes can be because of their background. This is due to
the set up that one has grown up (Dumas 19). People tend to learn more about their culture, and as
they grow up it becomes part of them. They embrace the culture s beliefs and tend to do things
following the set routines. The aspect of following the set routine and beliefs play a significant part in
shaping the identity of an individual. The identity of an individual is evident in a person from the
things that they do about their culture. Some individuals with the knowledge that they have acquired
from their culture are willing to carry out activities depicting their knowledge. A person s identity can
be known from the way they express themselves in relation to their culture, his notion brings about the
aspect of one s identity in relation to their culture. This aspect of culture shaping an individual s
identity experiences challenges in some given instances. Migration to another country with a different
culture can be a big challenge to a person who is accustomed to a certain culture. This is because one
may be unable to fit in the new environment because of the new culture. Factors that can cause lack of
incorporation include

Advantages Of Fuzzy Logic
In a narrow sense, fuzzy logic can be defined as a logical system, which is an expansion of multi
valued logic. Whereas in a wider sense it is almost similar with fuzzy sets theory. It is a method for
computing based on degrees of truth or fact rather than the true or false (1 or 0). The idea of fuzzy
logic was first proposed by Dr. Lotfi Zadeh of the University of California at Berkeley in the 1965
[65].
4.1 FUZZY LOGIC SYSTEM
A fuzzy logic system (FLS) can be defined as the nonlinear mapping of an input data set to a scalar
output data [66]. It works like a way that human brain works. The data are get together and form a
number of partial facts or truths which are made aggregate further into higher level of truths. If these
truths crosses certain level of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fuzzy logic is a more sensitive approach without the complexity.
2) Fuzzy logic is flexible: In any given system, it is easy to coat on more functionality without being
start from scratch.
3) Fuzzy logic is tolerable about inexact data: In the nature or in any experimental process everything
is inexact. Fuzzy logic is made tolerable about all these things.
4) Fuzzy logic is able to model nonlinear functions of random complexity: A fuzzy controller is able to
match any kind of input and output values. This process is made mainly easy by adaptive techniques
which are available in Fuzzy Logic Toolbox of MATLAB software like Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy
Inference Systems (ANFIS).
5) Fuzzy logic is based on general language: Fuzzy logic allows us to communicate with the system
using a common language of human like If then .
4.3 FUNCTION OF FUZZY LOGIC INFERENCE
The function of Fuzzy inference system is to interpret the values from the input vector and using some
set of rules, assigns these values to the output vector. This definition is clear from the figure

Observation Of An Afterschool Ambassador
Tracy is 11 (almost 12) years old who attends American Preparatory Academy, a charter school
focused on academics and citizenship. I chose to observe an afterschool Ambassador program
involving the sixth grade. Tracy was a great choice, due to her being an officer, which required her to
be more involved in leading the ambassador activity. She comes from a Tongan family and is taller
than average, with a weight that would be considered slightly heavier than the national average.
Knowing that genes are involved may slow down the impulse to blame people for being overweight.
(Berger, 2016 p. 243). She had developed breasts, curves, and appeared to be more mature for her age.
Tongan women typically have a higher BMI than caucasian women. The sixth grade was to visit
several stations where different learning activities were organized. The first station started with some
basic yoga, where each student stood in a Tadasana pose next to their desk. Tracy closed her eyes and
balanced with ease, lifting her foot, (advanced move) while concentrating on her breathing. She
appeared to have more developed coordination than her peers. The next station used targets and balls
for the learning exercise. She was one of the few females able to get the balls into the baskets each
shot. When the ball was thrown back to her for the next try, her reaction time was impeccable. Beyond
the sheer fun of playing, the benefits of physical activity especially games with rules, which

A Comparison Of Presidents John Tyler, Andrew Johnson, And...
Throughout the course of American history, we have seen a complete sway in the pendulum as we
discuss each and every U.S. President and how they impacted America at a certain time. We see
similarities and contrast between the different administrations even if they are both far out or close
together. In class, the analysis of Presidents John Tyler, Andrew Johnson, and Chester A. Arthur was
quite interesting their comparativeness. Although separated by party affiliation, origins, policy
outlooks, and evolving timeline in US history, they uniquely share a comparative touch to each other. I
will analyze what these comparisons are and why these comparisons are important not only to their
administrations, but how they have affected the American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When he first came into office, he used his Whig backed Congress to push through legislation that
would help settlers to settle and claim new western lands. Tyler also pushed through the Distribution
act that was supported by many of his Whig allies. This gracefulness and cooperation with his party in
Congress soon came to an end when the banking question in the country came about. He adamantly
vetoed national banking acts that were authored by Henry Clay, and even set up a national bank in the
US. This was not the first time the two battled about the bank system. In late 1818, Tyler was given a
chance to closely examine the operations of the one institution that epitomized Clay s American
System: the Second Bank of the United States. The bank had been set up in March 1816, but had
failed to provide the economic stability its advocates promised. Instead, a bank mania ensued state
banks proliferated, speculation was rife, and corruption widespread. At the same time, the end of the
Napoleonic Wars and other events reduced the demand for both manufactured goods and agricultural
staples, and triggered the first great depression in America s history. (May 23) These acts grew weary
within the party that led to Clay making sure his cabinet left him abruptly. He was fortunate to have a
few cabinet members stay along with him that ended

The Air Capital Of The World
In 1928 Wichita began to promote themselves as the Air Capital. Most of the population agrees that
Wichita is and always will be the Air Capital of the World. The way that we built the industry is
amazing. Yet there are those few individuals who do believe that we should no longer name ourselves
as the Air Capital. We have multiple aircraft factories and aircraft is the center of our employment. We
have grown our industries and continue to produce more and more aircraft through the decades. By
analyzing all the data that was gathered, I will now give a few reasons why Wichita has been named
Air Capital in the 1920s and why we will keep that title.

Shortly after that, in 1928, The Air Capital was Wichita s new nickname. As Wichita went on to grow,
so did the industries. In 1932, Walter Beech and his wife Olive formed Beech Aircraft company. Their
first aircraft was the Model 17R also know as the staggerwing. It took its first flight in November of
that year. The Model 18 Twin Beech aircraft was just what the company needed to boom. It turned
Beech Aircraft into a huge corporation. The Staggerwing production was ended in 1946 and replaced
by the Beechcraft Bonanza. The first airport began its production in 1930 but was not finished until
1935. Its name was The Wichita Municipal Airport. After seventeen years, the Air force built a base
and began to use the airport for their own operations. Also in 1935, the world s most efficient airplane
began its production. It was named the Cessna Airmaster.
World War II was a huge deal for Wichita s aviation. The population exploded almost overnight. We
had around 70,000 new residents within the span of four years. We were drawing in workers from
around the state and even outside the state. We were one of the major manufacturing centers for
military aircraft. 4.2 bombers were being produced daily in Wichita by 1945. Ever since then, Wichita
s employment in the aircraft industry has remained high. 40,000 people were employed by aircraft
industries in Wichita by the end of 2008. 4,000 more were employed by subcontractors to provide
supplies. Surprisingly most

Plot in Their Eyes Were Watching God by Hurston Zora
All of this takes place in a rural town of West Florida called Eatonville in the early twentieth century. I
was amazed at the story, symbols and images that this novel creates. The symbolism and metaphorical
language used also brought interest and an urge to want to read more. In the novel Their eyes were
watching God by Hurston Zora, Janie Crawford is a black middle aged woman who has an intriguing
story to tell. She has been away from her home town for few years and comes back to be welcomed by
harsh and barely near factual gossip and criticism. In life, criticism is inevitable like death, whether it
s positive or negative. What I found interesting is how Janie brushes off and takes no offense to the
harsh gossip from her neighbors when she returned. The reason for that is because Janie left and found
herself, she has lived life, got married a couple of times and know what life is outside of her town. She
knew what love was and also knew what it felt like to be happy and hurt. Janie Crawford experienced
things that any of the females who gossiped about her hasn t. The story of her life begins to unfold as
she sits with Phoebe Watson, her friend for decades that brought her some mullato rice. I think Phoebe
shows signs of hypocrisy because although she defended Janie when the other women spoke badly
about her, prior to Janie s arrival she accompanied these women daily as they gossiped about other
people. Sheep don t stay in the presence of wolves for too long. Well, nobody

Edmund of King Lear as Nietzsche s Free Spirit
In King Lear, Shakespeare creates a brilliant tragedy whose plot is driven primarily by its villains. Of
these, Edmund stands alone as a man who makes his fortune, surrounded by those who seize fortune
only when it is handed to them. Shakespeare s ability to create a vivid, living character in the space of
a few lines of speech triumphs in Edmund, who embodies a totally different moral system than that of
Shakespeare s era. Three centuries later, Friedrich Nietzsche s philosophy of the Free Spirit would
respect these values.
Like Edmund, Nietzsche s unorthodox views have been deemed villainous ever since the time they
were written. The Free Spirit is defined not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Edmund, these characteristics are obvious he questions the world created by men, but at the same
time reflects that he is bound to Nature. Nietzsche likewise saw the rigid values of Christianity as false
ones, clumsily laid over man s true, changing nature. The hierarchy of the good, however, is not fixed
and identical at all times. If someone prefers revenge to justice, he is moral by the standard of an
earlier culture, yet by the standard of the present culture he is immoral. 1
When my dimensions are as well compact,
My mind as generous, and my shape as true,
As honest madam s issue? Why brand they us
With base? with baseness? bastardy? base, base?
Who, in the lusty stealth of nature, take
More composition and fierce quality
Than doth, within a dull, stale, tired bed,
Go to the creating a whole tribe of fops,
Got tween asleep and wake? (I.2.7 15)
Edmund continues by expressing his outrage at the labeling of a man who is just as rightly made up as
another, but is forced into a second rate status by a society ruled by the dull and stale. Here he also
acknowledges his humanity, but distinguishes himself from others by a quality of fierceness.
Again, Nietzsche s ideas shine through. Edmund cannot conceive why his station must be defined for
him, when he is a fiercer human than others. Nietzsche s Will to Power follows this reasoning closely.

Comparing Solubility Of Sugar, Salt And Copper Sulphate...
Logs
Tuesday 26/04
Today, I finished my proposal for my EEI and started researching for calculations to predict the
solubility of my solutes. My decided solutes are sugar, salt and copper sulphate pentahydrate. I
decided I would be using 100mL of water as my solvent due to the abundance of solutes available and
that fact that 100mL is a nice, easy number to work with. I also spoke to Mrs Rach and she informed
me she has a surplus of copper sulphate so I don t have to be careful with how much I use. She also
gave me some measurements on how much copper sulphate should dissolve into 100mL of water at
varying degrees. It s a good start and I m going to see if I can validate these measurements once I
work out the prediction equations. I m hoping to have my risk assessment handed in by the end of
Friday s lesson, but first I have to decide on how much of each solute I need. I will do further research
during the week on solubility and the appropriate equations.

I found predictions on the various solubilities of my chosen solutes, but I got really confused on the
difference between molality and molarity due to the similar wording of the definitions. Apparently, at

31g/100mL. This clashes with the information Mrs Rach gave me last week that said that 20.8g of
copper sulphate would dissolve under the same conditions. I think I m just going to see what the
results say and then leave it to the

Coming Of Age Theme Essay
The Theme of Coming of Age in Literature There comes a time is each person s life when they reach
the point where they are no longer children, but adults. The transition from a child into a young adult
is often referred to as the coming of age, or growing up. The time when this transition occurs is
different in everyone, since everyone is an individual and no two people are alike. Certain children
reach this stage through a tragic, painful event which affects them to such extent that they are
completely changed.
Other children reach this time by simply growing older and having a better understanding of the world
around them. The coming of age really is indefinite and cannot be marked in general overview. This

They affirm community solidarity, and the sacredness of common values. (1995, Grolier
Encyclopedia) In addition, cultures use initiation ceremonies to mark the transition from childhood to
adult status. Rites for males are usually more elaborate and dramatic and generally involve the
community more than do those for females. Among the African Gus ii, for example, girls are at about
age nine, boys at twelve years old; Thong a boys may be sixteen. Boys rites often involve seclusion
from women, hazing by older males, test of manliness, and genital operations, including circumcision.
Girls rites are just as bad if not worse with things like removal of the clitoris.
In some places in North America, the ritual is individual where as in Africa and Oceania the ritual can
be collective. A plain Indian adolescent boy undertakes a vision quest; he goes out alone intothe
wilderness, endures hardship, and seeks a vision from his animal guardian spirit; if he gets one, he
returns a man. Yet a different way for these rituals is group rituals. These often takes months or even
years, as among many Australian aboriginal tribes. Novices learn great quantities of information and
obey countless taboos. Instructors are men who are strangers to boys.
Ritual pulls the boy from childhood, especially from his mother. He moves from the category of
women and privileged children toward the privileged one of the adult males. Such rites maintain adult
male togetherness and strengthen

  • 2. Lady Of Shalott Comparison The selections in this Echo: The Quest for an Ideal, all present alike themes in various perspectives. The theme, reaching for a goal we desire to achieve can encourage us to grow and evolve, although, if that goal is for perfection the outcomes can be devastating, is displayed in multiple selections. Two selections that will be explored are the poem The Lady of Shalott by Alfred Tennyson and the song Candle in the Wind by Elton John and Bernie Taupin. These selections provide sufficient evidence to support the overall theme of The Quest for an Ideal. The poem, The Lady of Shalott by Alfred Tennyson, provides an allegorical meaning of an artist trying to perfect their work and sacrificing a great deal in order to achieve perfection, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This song is a eulogy that was written for Marilyn Monroe after her tragic passing due to an overdose. Marilyn Monroe s goal was to be famous and to be the image of perfection, but when she obtained the fame that she believed she wanted, she felt troubled as she felt like she was playing a role and not being true to herself. In the line, And they made you change your name, it displays the pressure that she was under in order to achieve her goal of fame. Marilyn Monroe was told to change her name from Norma Jean to Marilyn Monroe in order to become the perfect person that everyone wanted her to become. This made her feel as if she was constantly playing a role and lead to a source of discontentment in her life which led to her untimely death, a devastating consequence of reaching for perfection. Another reference to the song is, Never knowing who to cling to, this represents the loneliness in her life when she achieved her goal of fame. Although, she had accomplished her goal and was what many considered to be perfect, she had no one around her to give her support and when times were hard she had no one that she could rely on. To the outside world, it seemed like Marilyn Monroe was the essence of perfection, but, she had her demons and felt lonesome in her own life. This again is a devastating consequence of having a goal of perfection. A lyric of the song, And pain was the price you paid, summarizes the theme of the unit as while she was reaching to obtain her goal of perfection, in the end all she felt was pain and loneliness. The result of Marilyn Monroe s goal of perfection was ultimately destructive as it was a factor in her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Female Sexuality Within Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre Charlotte Brontë s Jane Eyre sets a strong example of female sexuality in the Victorian era. The title character confronts herself with her feelings for Mr. Rochester and her growing throughout the novel. She eventually finds the courage to embrace herself as she is. Jane s independent mind and nature contradict the grain of Victorian society. She defies historical notions of female sexuality and Victorian codes and rules on sexuality. Brontë reimagines the Victorian notion of marriage as she emphasizes Jane s education and female work. The Introduction of 1983 s The Woman Question Vol. 2 states, Almost any public statement bearing on the Woman Question whether an essay, a review, a novel, a poem, a lecture, a cartoon, or a painting was likely to generate a chain of responses, and to be read as a response to prior statements in an ongoing public discussion (Helsinger xi). This quote conveys the message of Victorian times and their grasp on femininity. Many people, like Charlotte Brontë, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and John Stuart Mill, disagreed with common conceptions and advocated for women s beliefs. Others, like those belonging to the True Womanhood Cult, were motivated, less by chauvinism than by deep needs and genuine concern (57). Self sacrifice and a submissive role were expected virtues of femininity. Physicians and scientists also introduced a single minded approach to women s sexuality and behavioral nature. One of the most important and adverse aspects ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Literary Analysis Of Classical Landscape By Charles Sheeler Classical landscape by Charles Sheeler is an exterior oil on canvas of the Estate of Mrs. Edsel B. Ford, Grosse Pointe Farms (figure 1) filled with deep, hidden irony. It was painted in 1931, and is based on a watercolor study. It s a calm, clean, and serene painting that takes your breath away. It s depicting a place someone would want to be in, a place where things get done, and a place where one can go to achieve this idea of the American dream. Charles Sheeler used American industry as a major theme of his art, his work lends itself to an analysis in terms of geometric forms he examines his subject matter so closely in order to fully understand the composition, the effect, and the design he wants to depict. Sheeler painted the plant s exterior as an idyll, a beautiful, picturesque scene of the industrial age booming; however, in reality the United States was in the middle of the worst years of the Great Depression. Therefore, this painting done in Sheeler s hyper realistic artistic style is not actually depicting what the factory actually looked like. He is using his photographs to distort and change the perspective in order to better suit his patrons. Charles s Sheeler is a commissioned artist. Classical Landscape was commissioned by Edsel Ford in order to promote the Ford Company and increase the overall feelings toward industrialization . Sheeler achieved this due to Classical Landscapes light color palette, clean lines, reduced forms, and intense knowledge of the subject matter, his painting only hints at the machines domination of humankind , allowing for viewers to look at the painting and feel comforted by the lack of human presence but not overwhelmed by it. Sheeler s depiction of industrialization lacked human presence. This was uncommon at the time, and created a very different effect than other artists did. He focused on the building in isolation rather than on the hectic activity around the assembly line this switched the focus form not on the people of America but on the technological advances and the progress America was making. Looking further into the painting s subject matter, it is intriguing to see that Sheeler chose to depict something on cite that dealt with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ian J Sarembock, MB, ChB, MD, FACC; Dean J Kereiakes, MD, FACC The Heart Vascular Service Line and The Lindner Center for Research and Education, The Christ Hospital Health Network, Cincinnati, Ohio The evolution of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) from plain old balloon angioplasty (POBA) in 1977, to bare metal stents (BMS) in 1986, through the revolutionary introduction of drug eluting stents (DES) in 2003 which successfully treated the Achilles heal of BMS (neointimal proliferation and restenosis) has provided significant iterative improvement in platform design and performance. Adverse clinical events to 1 year following stent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Stents that deliver anti proliferative drugs from durable polymer, have reduced both clinical and angiographic restenosis compared with bare metal stents without increasing adverse events (AEs) including death or myocardial infarction (MI) (1 2). However, permanent polymers may be associated with hypersensitivity reactions, delayed and/or incomplete vascular healing which may contribute to an increased risk of both late (30 days to 1 year) and very late (beyond 1 year) stent thrombosis (ST) which was particularly evident following first generation DES (5,6). Even newer durable polymers with enhanced biocompatibility and improved clinical outcomes have still been incriminated in chronic inflammation, thrombosis and neoatherosclerosis (which occurs earlier and with increased prevalence following both 1st and 2nd generation DES (7,8,9). To reduce the risk of stent thrombosis and MI, the 2016 ACC/AHA Guideline Focused Update on Duration of Dual Antiplatelet Therapy in Patients With Coronary Artery Disease provides guidance regarding the duration of dual antiplatelet therapy following DES deployment for both stable coronary artery disease (CAD) as well as acute coronary syndromes (ACS) (10). Patients should receive clopidogrel (or an alternative P2Y12 inhibitor) in addition to aspirin for a minimum of 6 months (stable CAD) or 12 months (ACS) unless there is high bleeding risk (10). • 6. The Importance Of Student Privacy Safety and privacy both are important factors on a College campus. In 2007, Seung Hui Cho, an angry and disturbed student, shot to death 32 students and faculty of Virginia Tech, wounded 17 more, and then killed himself. Cho was a mentally disturbed student who had suicidal and homicidal tendencies. Ever since the Virginia Tech shooting happened, there has been debate whether safety is more important than student privacy or not. Many people claim that privacy protection laws are the reasons that campuses aren t safe anymore, where others believe that everyone needs personal space and a right to have privacy. There are people who claim that student privacy should be ignored to maintain campus safety, where others believe that every student should have the right of privacy; however, student privacy should be protected, while alternative methods for campus safety should be taken. Many people believe that campus safety is more important than student privacy, hence it should be ignored. There have been incidents where disturbed students sometimes hurt themselves and sometimes hurt others, like the Virginia Tech incident. After the incident, many people came forward claiming that they knew that the student was disturbed, and need assistance, but due to student privacy laws, they didn t do anything. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is being blamed here because according to FERPA schools can t release student s health and academic records without ... • 7. Lord Of The Flies Themes Golding´s book The Lord of the Flies has many different background meanings to it. Two themes that some critics think of are that people are born with evil already in them and that there is no hope for humanity. These themes are shown throughout the book in what the characters say and do. In this book there are many conflicts where the boys bully each other in an inhumane way, which shows how evil they really are. Also the boys lose hope for being rescued and start to go back to the more primitive ways of mankind. Golding definitely comes across in his work as some who may think that there is no hope for mankind and that all people are born with evil in them. One of the first examples of there being a theme for no hope for humanity is what Piggy first says to Ralph. Ralph and Piggy are arguing (pg. 14) and Piggy says They re all dead...Nobody don t know we re here. Your dad don t know, nobody don t know. When he says this, Piggy shows the reader that he thinks there is no hope for them to be rescued from the island. To some people, Golding may be hinting that there is no hope for people to be rescued from times of war. War seems to be ongoing, when one war ends another war begins. Until people end wars there is no hope for peace in the world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The dancers had mini solos, but after they finished their mini solo, they became background support for the solos after their own. The walls all around it are covered in complicated patterns and symbols. The building definitely stands out against all the other buildings in the area. The inside is very roomy, and filled with lots of artwork all around. The first piece of artwork is by William S. Rice. This piece is a painting, with many, many different colors. The artist wants world peace basically, but us Christians should know that that is impossible, only in heaven. So this painting may just show what the artist wishes the world could be like. The second piece of art is called: Wounds of Existence. This seems to be a painting on a unusually rugged surface made out of un sanded wooden planks. It depicts what seems like, a man and a women with their faces close to each other with sad faces. The subject matter of this piece seem to be mellow and sad. I picked this piece because it jumped out at me at how absolutely unique it was, being painted on wooden planks. All the colors in this piece are more dark, and no color really stand out above the rest. Even though the surface of this painting was very un even, I could still see the shapes, colors and patterns. History Of Surfing While recalling memories about surfing I began to remember certain events that demonstrated the different mindsets of surfers, one of these was a conversation with my dad when I was younger and we were on the southern California coast. We were talking about how people were starting to surf behind boats, I thought it would be something cool to try since you would be able to ride a wave that goes on forever. My dad on the other hand resented the idea of surfing behind a boat, as he put it there is a certain connection that you feel when you have paddled all the way out and you are waiting for a wave to come, and then you feel the wave starting to form. • 11. Supernatural Elements Of Macbeth By William Shakespeare Essay Whether or not someone accepts the supernatural does not mean it does not exist for another. The power of the supernatural is something that has been around since civilization began because people recognized there was something beyond their control. In Shakespeare s Macbeth, Macbeth is confronted with supernatural firsthand, however, they were viewed as forces of evil. Although the witches, the ghosts, the prophecies, and all the other supernatural elements in the play are dramatized and feared, they represent how society has come to transition away from viewing these supernatural manifestations negatively. In Shakespeare s era, the pure belief in the supernatural was much more widely expressed but not accepted. Macbeth shows that Shakespeare wrote not only for entertaining audiences but also for playing on the widespread fear of the supernatural. I think that this play being so heavily doused in supernatural elements suggests that he wanted to use these beliefs, whether or not he personally believed in them. I think that while he is playing with these ideas, they hold at least some truth for us now because of the way we interpret what Shakespeare was interpreting. For Macbeth, the witches and the role of their prophecy was hugely instrumental because of the stakes for him. When we transport ourselves into Macbeth s shoes, maybe not his time, we can see how anybody would be less likely to take the prophecy with a grain of salt. Maybe we would not exactly go to the lengths ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Dangers Of Money And Greed In The Pardoners Tale The danger of money and greed was important in chaucer s time because it describes the character and what that character was like. For example The immoral Pardoner, who, in a sense, sells away his soul for the sake of his own avarice, puzzles many modern readers with his strange logic. Already having laid his considerable guilt upon the table, this corrupted agent of the Church attempts to pawn off his counterfeit relics for a generous price. Also in the Pardoner s tale the rioters show the dangers on money and greed because they live loose lives and spend time gambling and drinking in pubs, they are also disgusting and hateful. • 16. Gospel Of Mark Analysis Bible Scholar David Garland points to two possibilities as to why Mark s Gospel is written in a narrative style or form. Garland believes the Gospel of Mark either came from an oral story circulating in the Jerusalem church or it came from a firsthand account of the Apostle Peter. Some bible scholars point to the idea that the Gospel of Mark was narrativized, so it could be heard rather than be read silently. Bible scholar Robert Tannehill believes the Gospel of Mark may even have been collected and delivered orally before it was ever written down. Michael Licona believes if a certain text appears in all three Synoptics, the Gospel of Mark is the most likely source for Matthew and Luke s accounts. Licona notes that this rule should not be held hard and fast, since Mark may also have been using an oral story while Matthew and Luke choose another source or omitted material where it differs in each of their Gospel s. The Apostle Peter seems to be the eyewitness account which Mark narrates into a single unified story, which centers around a single central figure Jesus and a group of His closest companions. If the author of Mark was using an oral story to write his gospel from, this would definitely explain its narrative style. Some other evidence which points to the Gospel Mark being an oral story being written down is its brevity and action where the other gospels such as Luke, which is longer having 24 chapters of more and 1,100 versus. Reminiscent of how The Iliad and the Aeneid are both epic poems that share similarities such as the setting, the reoccurring motif of gods, as well as aspects like the two heroes and the goals to be reached by the plot. When comparing the similarities between the two epics, The Iliad and the Aeneid, one of the most obvious is the setting of which they each take place. They are a part of the same era, one where the world was chaotic and still needed the frivolous gods to meddle. The Trojan War with its destructive power was a significant setting in both poems and led to the development of each respective plot. In the face of the dreads of the warfare in both epics, even the most powerful of warriors will experience fear, and the poets tell the audience details that both armies regret that the war ever began. The Iliad took place during the actual war. It is very much centralized around the occurrences of the war. • 25. The Importance Of Ban Headscarves In Public Schools Those in favor of the ban argue that bans are necessary to promote gender equality. Loenen points out that, a major argument put forward to ban headscarves in public schools derives from the idea that the headscarf is symbolic of the inferior position of women in Islam and that many girls and women are pressured into wearing it . It is worthwhile to note here that the same argument was also used by the ECtHR in Dahlab, where it held that the wearing of the headscarf was hard to square with, among others, the principle of gender equality . Furthering its view in Dahlab, in Sahin, ECtHR held that the ban on the wearing of the Muslim headscarf at universities in Turkey served the legitimate purpose, amongst others, of promoting gender equality. Vakulenko suggests that in both these cases, the headscarf was attributed a highly abstract and essentialized meaning of a religious item extremely detrimental to gender equality . As far as the case law is concerned, another frequent argument raised in favor of the ban is that if some women are allowed to wear the headscarf it would eventually impose a burden on the women who choose not to wear it and, thus, they will be forced to wear it as well. In Karaduman , the European Commission on Human Rights considered that the manifestations of a particular religion without restrictions may constitute pressure on students who do not practice that religion or those who adhere to another religion . In this case, a female Muslim applicant was refused a qualification certificate (after successfully completing her course) because she refused to provide an identity photograph without her headscarf. Weil writes that in schools where some girls are wearing the headscarf, the Muslim girls who do not wear it are subject to strong pressure to do so . He also reports that, in the increasing number of schools where girls wear the hijab, a strong majority of Muslim girls who do not wear the headscarf called for the protection of the law and asked the commission to ban all religious exterior signs . According to Weil, this pressure usually comes from parents, extremist/fundamentalist groups and religious leaders. However, it is important to keep in mind here that Weil himself admits ... • 28. Observation Of An Afterschool Ambassador Tracy is 11 (almost 12) years old who attends American Preparatory Academy, a charter school focused on academics and citizenship. I chose to observe an afterschool Ambassador program involving the sixth grade. Tracy was a great choice, due to her being an officer, which required her to be more involved in leading the ambassador activity. She comes from a Tongan family and is taller than average, with a weight that would be considered slightly heavier than the national average. Knowing that genes are involved may slow down the impulse to blame people for being overweight. (Berger, 2016 p. 243). She had developed breasts, curves, and appeared to be more mature for her age. Tongan women typically have a higher BMI than caucasian women. The sixth grade was to visit several stations where different learning activities were organized. The first station started with some basic yoga, where each student stood in a Tadasana pose next to their desk. Tracy closed her eyes and balanced with ease, lifting her foot, (advanced move) while concentrating on her breathing. She appeared to have more developed coordination than her peers. The next station used targets and balls for the learning exercise. She was one of the few females able to get the balls into the baskets each shot. When the ball was thrown back to her for the next try, her reaction time was impeccable. Beyond the sheer fun of playing, the benefits of physical activity especially games with rules, which ... • 29. A Comparison Of Presidents John Tyler, Andrew Johnson, And... Throughout the course of American history, we have seen a complete sway in the pendulum as we discuss each and every U.S. President and how they impacted America at a certain time. We see similarities and contrast between the different administrations even if they are both far out or close together. In class, the analysis of Presidents John Tyler, Andrew Johnson, and Chester A. Arthur was quite interesting their comparativeness. Although separated by party affiliation, origins, policy outlooks, and evolving timeline in US history, they uniquely share a comparative touch to each other. I will analyze what these comparisons are and why these comparisons are important not only to their administrations, but how they have affected the American ... Tyler also pushed through the Distribution act that was supported by many of his Whig allies. This gracefulness and cooperation with his party in Congress soon came to an end when the banking question in the country came about. He adamantly vetoed national banking acts that were authored by Henry Clay, and even set up a national bank in the US. This was not the first time the two battled about the bank system. In late 1818, Tyler was given a chance to closely examine the operations of the one institution that epitomized Clay s American System: the Second Bank of the United States. The bank had been set up in March 1816, but had failed to provide the economic stability its advocates promised. Instead, a bank mania ensued state banks proliferated, speculation was rife, and corruption widespread. At the same time, the end of the Napoleonic Wars and other events reduced the demand for both manufactured goods and agricultural staples, and triggered the first great depression in America s history. (May 23) These acts grew weary within the party that led to Clay making sure his cabinet left him abruptly. He was fortunate to have a few cabinet members stay along with him that ended ... • 30. The Air Capital Of The World In 1928 Wichita began to promote themselves as the Air Capital. Most of the population agrees that Wichita is and always will be the Air Capital of the World. The way that we built the industry is amazing. Yet there are those few individuals who do believe that we should no longer name ourselves as the Air Capital. We have multiple aircraft factories and aircraft is the center of our employment. We have grown our industries and continue to produce more and more aircraft through the decades. By analyzing all the data that was gathered, I will now give a few reasons why Wichita has been named Air Capital in the 1920s and why we will keep that title. Shortly after that, in 1928, The Air Capital was Wichita s new nickname. As Wichita went on to grow, so did the industries. In 1932, Walter Beech and his wife Olive formed Beech Aircraft company. Their first aircraft was the Model 17R also know as the staggerwing. It took its first flight in November of that year. The Model 18 Twin Beech aircraft was just what the company needed to boom. It turned Beech Aircraft into a huge corporation. The Staggerwing production was ended in 1946 and replaced by the Beechcraft Bonanza. The first airport began its production in 1930 but was not finished until 1935. Its name was The Wichita Municipal Airport. After seventeen years, the Air force built a base and began to use the airport for their own operations. Also in 1935, the world s most efficient airplane began its production. It was named the Cessna Airmaster. World War II was a huge deal for Wichita s aviation. The population exploded almost overnight. We had around 70,000 new residents within the span of four years. We were drawing in workers from around the state and even outside the state. We were one of the major manufacturing centers for military aircraft. 4.2 bombers were being produced daily in Wichita by 1945. Ever since then, Wichita s employment in the aircraft industry has remained high. 40,000 people were employed by aircraft industries in Wichita by the end of 2008. 4,000 more were employed by subcontractors to provide supplies. • 31. Plot in Their Eyes Were Watching God by Hurston Zora All of this takes place in a rural town of West Florida called Eatonville in the early twentieth century. I was amazed at the story, symbols and images that this novel creates. The symbolism and metaphorical language used also brought interest and an urge to want to read more. In the novel Their eyes were watching God by Hurston Zora, Janie Crawford is a black middle aged woman who has an intriguing story to tell. She has been away from her home town for few years and comes back to be welcomed by harsh and barely near factual gossip and criticism. In life, criticism is inevitable like death, whether it s positive or negative. What I found interesting is how Janie brushes off and takes no offense to the harsh gossip from her neighbors when she returned. The reason for that is because Janie left and found herself, she has lived life, got married a couple of times and know what life is outside of her town. She knew what love was and also knew what it felt like to be happy and hurt. Janie Crawford experienced things that any of the females who gossiped about her hasn t. The story of her life begins to unfold as she sits with Phoebe Watson, her friend for decades that brought her some mullato rice. I think Phoebe shows signs of hypocrisy because although she defended Janie when the other women spoke badly about her, prior to Janie s arrival she accompanied these women daily as they gossiped about other people. • 33. edmundlear Edmund of King Lear as Nietzsche s Free... Edmund of King Lear as Nietzsche s Free Spirit In King Lear, Shakespeare creates a brilliant tragedy whose plot is driven primarily by its villains. Of these, Edmund stands alone as a man who makes his fortune, surrounded by those who seize fortune only when it is handed to them. Shakespeare s ability to create a vivid, living character in the space of a few lines of speech triumphs in Edmund, who embodies a totally different moral system than that of Shakespeare s era. Three centuries later, Friedrich Nietzsche s philosophy of the Free Spirit would respect these values. Like Edmund, Nietzsche s unorthodox views have been deemed villainous ever since the time they were written. The Free Spirit is defined not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Edmund, these characteristics are obvious he questions the world created by men, but at the same time reflects that he is bound to Nature. Nietzsche likewise saw the rigid values of Christianity as false ones, clumsily laid over man s true, changing nature. The hierarchy of the good, however, is not fixed and identical at all times. If someone prefers revenge to justice, he is moral by the standard of an earlier culture, yet by the standard of the present culture he is immoral. 1 When my dimensions are as well compact, My mind as generous, and my shape as true, As honest madam s issue? Here he also acknowledges his humanity, but distinguishes himself from others by a quality of fierceness.

Logs Tuesday 26/04 Today, I finished my proposal for my EEI and started researching for calculations to predict the solubility of my solutes. My decided solutes are sugar, salt and copper sulphate pentahydrate. I decided I would be using 100mL of water as my solvent due to the abundance of solutes available and that fact that 100mL is a nice, easy number to work with. I also spoke to Mrs Rach and she informed me she has a surplus of copper sulphate so I don t have to be careful with how much I use. She also gave me some measurements on how much copper sulphate should dissolve into 100mL of water at varying degrees. It s a good start and I m going to see if I can validate these measurements once I work out the prediction equations. I m hoping to have my risk assessment handed in by the end of Friday s lesson, but first I have to decide on how much of each solute I need. I will do further research during the week on solubility and the appropriate equations. Friday 29/04 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This clashes with the information Mrs Rach gave me last week that said that 20.8g of copper sulphate would dissolve under the same conditions. • 36. Coming Of Age Theme Essay The Theme of Coming of Age in Literature There comes a time is each person s life when they reach the point where they are no longer children, but adults. The transition from a child into a young adult is often referred to as the coming of age, or growing up. The time when this transition occurs is different in everyone, since everyone is an individual and no two people are alike. Certain children reach this stage through a tragic, painful event which affects them to such extent that they are completely changed. Other children reach this time by simply growing older and having a better understanding of the world around them. The coming of age really is indefinite and cannot be marked in general overview. (1995, Grolier Encyclopedia) In addition, cultures use initiation ceremonies to mark the transition from childhood to adult status. Rites for males are usually more elaborate and dramatic and generally involve the community more than do those for females. Among the African Gus ii, for example, girls are at about age nine, boys at twelve years old; Thong a boys may be sixteen. Boys rites often involve seclusion from women, hazing by older males, test of manliness, and genital operations, including circumcision. Girls rites are just as bad if not worse with things like removal of the clitoris. In some places in North America, the ritual is individual where as in Africa and Oceania the ritual can be collective. A plain Indian adolescent boy undertakes a vision quest; he goes out alone intothe wilderness, endures hardship, and seeks a vision from his animal guardian spirit; if he gets one, he returns a man. Yet a different way for these rituals is group rituals. These often takes months or even years, as among many Australian aboriginal tribes. Novices learn great quantities of information and obey countless taboos. Instructors are men who are strangers to boys. Ritual pulls the boy from childhood, especially from his mother. He moves from the category of women and privileged children toward the privileged one of the adult males. Such rites maintain adult male togetherness and strengthen ...
