National Public Health Performance Standards Program
In 1994 the Core Public Health Functions Steering Committee at the Center for Disease Control
(CDC) released a list of 10 Essential Public Health Services ( The Public Health System, 2014).
This was an essential step towards making established public health organizations accountable and
giving new programs a framework on which to develop from. This list outlines the foundation for
the National Public HealthPerformance Standards Program. The ten essential public healthservices
provide a way to assess the impact of these programs. This paper will explore and analyze case
studies and the essential public health services they represent.
Case One surrounds the issue of water fluoridation. The process of water samples being
submitted for testing each month was described, along with which public health sectors the
results are reported to. Krisberg states that the parameters for water fluoridation levels were first
established in 1962. She also reports that the level of fluoride established at that time was 1.2
milligrams per liter. In 2015 this level was reduced to 0.7 milligrams per liter (Krisberg, 2015).
Many of the ten essential public health services can be seen in the details of the first case study.
The instance described in case one correlates most closely to the sixth essential public health
service to enforce laws and regulations that protect health and ensure safety (American Public
Health Association, n.d.). This case study was a prime example of how the public

Software As A Service Based Financial And Enterprise...
As of 2014, NetSuite was a leading provider of cloud based financial and enterprise resource
planning, as well as omnichannel commerce software. Cloud based computing uses the internet to
deliver applications and software companies from a remote server. By doing this, companies were
able to eliminate the cost of installing and maintaining infrastructure used to store these applications
and other services. NetSuite would typically charge a subscription fee for a pre arranged amount of
time. The companies that benefit from these services the most are medium sized companies, as
opposed to large enterprises. This is because the cloud applications require substantially less capital
to build, maintain, and purchase software. Additionally,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that the actual computing for these services is done via the cloud or off site, so the
medium sized companies can access everything via a single comprehensive business suite without
the worry of multiple services and having the computing power necessary to manage different
products. These services are licensed for a much shorter period of time, monthly, quarterly, or
annually, so there is a much lower cost of switching between services. These services generate the
actual revenue through direct and indirect methods with almost all sales conducted over the phone.
The direct sales are a product of direct contact with medium sized companies or units of larger
companies while the indirect sales are from relationships with channel partners across many
different sales regions, NA, LA, EU, and AP. The key success factors to its business line were
maintaining a comprehensive product that was affordable to mid sized companies and sufficiently
differentiated from competitors products. The comprehensive aspect is demonstrated by the ability
to be a completely one stop suite for these companies with offerings across all functions, ERP,
HRM, financial management, etc. The affordability aspect is primarily a byproduct of not requiring
a significant upfront cost to the companies and a licensing model with shorter periods of
subscription, the maximum of which is a year. Additionally,

Example Of Six Hats Strategy
Concept of Six hats strategy
The concept is typically used in business settings; however, applying the same concept in
counseling supervision can help facilitate and balance diverse viewpoints and polarities. (Li,
2008). Six thinking hats strategy helps in creative thinking in which one can unbundle thinking; in
a way that one can pay full attention to each aspect in turn. Through using this strategy, one can
separate the modes of thinking and then apply each mode to the same subject in order to end up
with full color thinking on the subject. There is a suggestion that the chemical setting in the brain
(neurotransmitter, etc) may be different when one is being positive from when one is being
negative, and from one is being creative. If this proves to be so, then there is an absolute need to
separate out the different components of thinking in order to do each properly. It would be
impossible to have one brain setting that was ideal for all sorts of thinking. (De Bono, 1998).
The six thinking hats model of conducting supervision appears to offer ... Show more content on

(2008) stated that insufficient supervisory support increases stress, negative feeelings , and
contributes to counselor ineffect , burn out , and role dissatisfaction. Two of the challenges of
counseling supervision are assisting counselor interns as they build their facilitation,
conceptualization, and intervention skills, plus gaining understanding of the clients they serve
(Torres Rivera et al., 2001). Counselor interns are also required to recognize and balance their
internal differing points of view in developing a model of integration (Bernard Goodyear, 2004).
The Six Thinking Hats model (de Bono, 2008) can be applied to group supervision of counselor
interns and can aid in gaining awareness and making decision. The technique is a metaphorical way
to view a problem or a counseling situation around six different viewpoints following a certain color
scheme and using the theme of thinking

The film Matilda directed by Danny DeVito was released in 1996, on the second of August. The
main characters of this film are Agatha Trunchbull, Jennifer Honey, Matilda Wormwood, Zinnia
Wormwood and Harry Wormwood. Ms Agatha Trunchbull is the legal guardian of Miss Honey
and has very strict rules at her school, as she despises of all young children. She depicted as a
malicious and evil character as the director uses various film techniques such as appearance,

The most common camera shot is a medium shot with the camera tilted up from Ms Trunchbull
s waist. This angle is used to show her unflattering physique and to make her look larger and
more powerful without the character having to speak. The medium shot is used so that you can
see her clearly and still be able to see her arrogant body language and expressions. Although, in
one scene in the movie, an extreme close up is used to show that Ms Trunchbull is more
powerful than Miss Honey. This shows her imperfections and gives the impression that Ms
Trunchbull is unappealing and aggressive. The most common camera angles create dark and
malicious scene where as Miss Honey s camera angles are full shots and tilted down to make her
seem small and powerless. Having a full shot scene for Miss Honey s scenes also makes her more
approachable and welcoming compared to Ms Trunchbull. Moreover, camera angles and shot
techniques have proven that the director, Danny DeVito, has revealed an arrogant and conceited

Huey P Long Messiah Of The Masses Analysis
Messiah of the Masses, a delightful American biography, displays Huey P. Long life from
childhood to his downfalls as governor. Long is a misunderstood protagonist, a man that will do
anything to be publicly noticed in Glen Jeansonne s Huey P. Long and the Great Depression
(1999). Jeansonne exposes Huey P. Long s tragic imperfections and great abilities that he creates
during his lifetime. Since Huey Long was an intimated man, he jeopardy his way to become a

himself first, one could state that Long has crude manners and domineering personality which
creates a bad message. For instance, Huey would snatch food from friends and strangers and
devour them (61). A man like Long abuses his power to achieve what he desires to get elected as
governor. Moreover, Long can talk and give promises; however, he can be mistaken. Jeansonne

My Writing Techniques
During this semester in Writing Workshop, I learned many writing techniques that helped
improve my writing. I learned how to research topics effectively and use scholarly sources
instead of popular sources. I learned how to conduct an interview and developed problem solving
skills. All of these techniques helped me develop my final solution to the issue I chose to research.
In high school, when my teacher told me to research a topic and write an essayon it, I would go to
Google and type in the topic. Once Google provided me with millions of hits, I usually chose the
first one and used it. Also, I would use Wikipedia. Wikipedia contains information about topics,
but people can edit those pages and put false information. At the beginning of my second
semester, I started to learn about scholarly sources. Scholarly sources usually come from an
expert or doctor. These experts and doctors take the time to research the topic and provide it to the
public. Using scholarly sources helps improve your argument or viewpoint. Sources such as CNN,

start. When solving a problem we assume things and to make our solution strong we need to get rid
of those assumptions. During this second semester, I learned about many techniques that enhanced
my writing. I cannot believe that my first year of college is over because it seems like yesterday I

The Term Minority Group Essay
The term minority group refers to a subordinate group whose members have significantly less
control or power over their lives than members of a dominant or majority group. Edmund Burke
states In a democracy, the majority of the citizens is capable of exercising the cruelest oppressions
upon the minority . These simple words sum up the conflicts of every minority groupthroughout our
time. A minority group shares a common set of social practices which are recognized from within
the group and by others outside the group. Sociologyis a social science involving the study of
social lives of people, groups and societies. It studies our behavior as social beings, and covers
everything from the analysis of short contacts between individuals, including history, psychology
and economics. Sociology is rooted from the writings of Auguste Comte a French philosopher who
was best known for his support of positivism . Comte created a unified philosophy about human
behavior to limit human suffering. One example of sociological method and theory is W.E.B Du
Bois and Philadelphia s Negro Problems who used demographic data and personal interviews to
show that the black community was perceived as a source of crime and poverty due to the policies
of society. Data collected through sociology consists of two methods quantitative which often
collects data through surveys and questionnaires. The second method is qualitative which
encompasses personal interviews and ethnographic data collected

A Experiment On Paramecium Experiment Essay
Paramecium Experiment Introduction The purpose of the paramecium experiment was to observe
competition or allelopathy between two different species of paramecium in the laboratory.
Allelopathy is a way organisms inhibit or affect other organisms when developing in nature. This
insures the survival of one organism against another organism. For instance in plants, some can
release a chemical that enters the environment and inhibits the growth and development of
surrounding plants. Another example in nature is plants developing defenses to prevent herbivores
from eating them. This kind of competition happens in nature when the need for resources is
limited and survival is necessary. Competition is displayed throughout nature all the time. A man
named Georgy Gause previously conducted this experiment between P. aurelia and P. caudatum. He
determined that different factors influence how the two species compete and coexist. Ever since
then not many scientist have attempted to experiment on paramecium. Only until recently have
more experiments been attempted. The issue with the experiment was that it was conducted in
1935 and nowadays there are more advance ways to conduct and interpret the experiment and
results. As previously stated, knowledge on this particular subject has been limited. Ever since
Gause s experiment, not many other scientists have attempted it until recently. As a class, the
experiment was a way to observe competition and better interpret the results gathered

Comparing Voltaire s Candide And Optimism
Voltaire s Candide and Optimism
Francois Marie Arouet, better known by his pen name Voltaire, is one of the greatest French writers
of the eighteenth century, and is the personification of the Enlightenment period. His most
celebrated work, Candide (1759), specifically exhibits his Age of Reason ideals. Voltairebroke new
ground by using rejection. In Candide Voltaire introduces the oppositional philosophy of optimism ,
denounces optimism as naГЇve and a facile perspective, and ultimately describes his enlightened
ideals.
Firstly, Voltaire illustrates optimism in Candide through the character Dr. Pangloss. Optimism
was a popular perspective in the early 18th century. Alexander Pope effectively explained
optimism in his Essay on Man. Pope believed that God is perfect as is his divine plan and
everything that occurs is what should be, he said, whatever is, is right (458). ... Show more content

During one of the later and most telling passages of the text, Candide, now a philosophical equal
to Pangloss, exchanges outlooks on the assortment of misfortunes with his once mentor.
Pangloss, the architect of optimism, shares his usual blind optimism despite realizing its
obsoleteness, he maintained that everything would turn out right in some marvelous way, he
still maintained it would, however little he believed it (176). By the end of the novel Candide
has found middle ground between Pangloss s optimistic folly and James s (and later Martin s)
pessimism. Candide decides it is best to acknowledge the evils in our world, but to also actively
pursue a better world, after a conversation with a humble Turkish farmer. The farmer explains, we
find that work banishes the three great evils, boredom, vice and poverty (177). Candide closes the
novel explaining that life parallels a garden and we must cultivate it, we must go work in our garden

hopes that J. J. would hate Sidney for driving her to this point. Just as she is about to jump,
Sidney catches her and meanwhile J. J. walks in, getting the wrong idea, he beats up Sidney until
Sidney told Susan it was all J. J. s idea. The film ends as Sidney leaves but gets held up with Kello,
who beats him up, and Susan packing to leave to Steve as J. J. looks into his empty house.
One of the main concepts when it comes to understanding film noir, first is the understanding of
the definition. Film noir is a cycle of postwar films that employed low key lighting and were
literally dark (Nichols, 500). In this particular genre, we are in a world where there is a lack of
honesty and trust, many cases of seduction and betrayal, and darkness submerges people
(Nichols, 250). Moreover, film noir reflects a tone of darkness, exploring themes of seduction,
betrayal, and murder (Nichols, 58). In this film, we will learn more of how seduction and betrayal
is used to express the darkness of the film. Some other traits of film noir that should be understood
before exploring the two scenes is understanding the setting. In most cases, film noir takes place in
public spaces such as urban streets, cafes,

Essay On Mercury Pollution
Mercury pollution occurs from industrial sources such as mining, power plants and coal
combustion centers. When mercury is released from the sources, it can travel halfway around
the world before it ever enters into the waterways and contaminates the fish that we then eat.
Through the trade of those fish, people in every continent are at risk for mercury pollution.
Newborns are also at risk of mercury pollution due to the consummation of fish by their mothers,
thousands of babies are at risk every year of impaired motor skills ( Reduce Mercury Pollution ).
In order to reduce the pollutants of mercury we need to implement a policy to clean up sites
already contaminated, limit the amounts discharged into the water and provide consumers on
tips to reduce their exposure to it. My first step in decreasing the amount of mercury is to focus
on the areas that are already contaminated. They would priority since the mercury would have
had time to sit and settle and we would want to clean it up before it causes further harm. Some of
the sites would be cleaned up under the EPA s superfund policy. One example of a site that is
being cleaned up is the Carson River Mercury Site in Nevada. This is the former sites of mills
and mining that have contaminated the soil, waterways and fish over a 50 mile stretch. Nevada
at one time recommended that limited consumption of fish and duck from the river should be in
effect. State and federal actions are being performed in order to excavate and remove the
contaminated soils and they were sent to a mineral resource recovery facility. That action has
already reduced the amount of exposure during the monitoring period and they plan to add a
layer of clean topsoil to reduce the exposure to any mercury soil left behind. They have also
worked in sampling 26 different developments for mercury affects and levels. They are working
on figuring out the cost and benefit of cleaning up the rivers sediment to try to remove the
mercury from the river, wetlands and reservoir. In the meantime short term cleanup will be done in
order to prevent threats to the population( Carson River Mercury Site ). The second step in my
policy to reduce the mercury levels would be to limit the amount of discharge

Social Movement And The Industrial Revolution
There have been several social movements in history that have impacted the world. Groups of
people have come together and tried their hardest to make a difference in unresolved problems
and issues. It is hard to make a difference as an individual trying to change something big, it
becomes easier when you find people who have the same beliefs as you and will fight for it
along your side. This is social change, and normally comes about through collective behavior and
social movements. Social change is a significant change in behaviors and cultural values and
norms. For example significant changes that have occurred in the past are the abolition of slavery,
the changes put into action after 9/11, the feminist movement, and the industrial revolution. As I
mentioned early social change occurs through both collective behavior and social movements.
Collective behavior is a voluntary activity that many people take part in to change norms and
values of the people around them. Collective behavior can be seen in many different ways. For
example, there can be crowds, masses, panics, mobs, riots, fads, public opinion and fashion. An
example of this would be when Cooper Tire in Findlay Ohio went on strike in order to get a new
contract with better medical benefits. The workers walked off one morning and stood outside of the
factory. Social Movementis an organized group that works together to promote or resist change
through action. There are many different types of social

Four Aspects Of The Four Elements Of Classical Conditioning
Classical Conditioning is the repeated use of stimuli in combination with a repeated significant
psychological event to train the one being conditioned to anticipate the event in response to the
stimuli. The most basic example of this type of conditioning is train an animal to expect treats by
making use of their sense of sound and blowing a whistle or ringing a bell just before you give
them a treat each time. This will train the animal to associate the sound of the whistle or bell with
the reception of the forthcoming treat, and it will begin to salivate in anticipation of getting the
treat whenever it hears the sound.
There are four elements of classical conditioning. These elements of classical conditioning include
unconditioned stimulus, unconditioned response, conditioned stimulus, and conditioned response.
These four elements make up the classical conditioning procedure. An unconditioned stimulus in an
experiment is a stimulus that elicits a response from the subject of the experiment without any
previous conditioning. This can be anything that elicits an instinctual response that an organism
might have, such as the treat that the animal salivates over as described in the experiment in
paragraph one. An unconditioned response in any response regarding an unconditioned stimulus. In
the case stated in paragraph one, the unconditioned response would be the salivating of the animal
in anticipation of the treat. A conditioned stimulus is a stimulus that would have no

The Massacre Of The Innocents Analysis
The Massacre of the innocents gives the viewer a glimpse into the life and artistic journey of
Flemish Baroque painter Peter Paul Rubens. When one looks at the painting, it is as if they are
reading the journal of the artist. The artist s personal style, which was developed through inspiration
from great artists such as Caravaggio, Michelangelo and Raphael, stands out in this painting. One
can clearly see elements of the painting which have been influenced by the works of the artists that
he carefully studied. (Jaffe,10)
The painting itself is an artistic representation of the account told in the Gospel where King
Herod ordered the killing of infant boys. The painting was made in c.1610 BCE, has the
dimensions 142 x 182 cm and uses the medium oil on wood (Jaffe, 73, 194). The painting, like
many of Rubens artworks has a dynamic sense of movement along with the expression of the full
spectrum of human emotions. Children can be seen being torn from their mother s arms, some
dead and others brutally injured. Mothers are shown mourning over the death of their child or
trying to escape from the soldiers by scratching or biting (Williams, 1).
Rubens artistic training began in the 1590 s under the guidance of Tobias Verhaecht and Adam van
Noort. However, Ruben entered his apprenticeship with Otto van Veen in 1594, who had the most
profound influence on Rubens work in his early years. The early works of Rubens were heavily
influenced by the works of Van Veen and Renaissance

Liars and Self-Image of Our Bodies
People are afraid of the unknown. They lie to create a persona that everyone will enjoy. So why
do people lie to themselves and others to preserve self image? Maybe they do not feel
comfortable with themselves. They wouldn t be the only ones either. Over a third of girls have a
warped perspective of themselves. (McBride 1).
Family is a major influence over a child s self image. A mother s weight, body image, attitude and
health habits are strong indicators of her daughters. (McBride 4) Children create a new them to
remain their parents perfect angel. The children lie to stay young and perfect. Most of them do
not want to grow up. Children that are complimented regularly by their mothers are more likely
to have a better self image. Pryor gives credit for her good self image to the way her parents
raised her. (McBride 2) Families who do not morally support their children will tend to make poor
eating habits. Some 89% of girls say their mothers make positive comments about how the girl
looked. (McBride 4) The other 11% are more susceptible to bullying and peer pressure.
Media is another component that influences a girl s view of herself. This affects the way she
believes she should look. At a very young age children are stuck in front of a TV. for entertainment.
They grow up with the skinny women and diet commercials. The children are brainwashed into
thinking that everyone must be a size zero. This is what they consider healthy living.

National Culture And Corporate Social Responsibility...
Dear Professors Coulmont, Loomis, Berthelot,
I regret to inform you that your revised manuscript, National Culture and Corporate Social
Responsibility Reporting is being rejected. We have completed an evaluation of your paper by
sending it to two experts who assessed the overall potential contribution to business ethics research.
Unfortunately, based on their feedback there are concerns with the research problem and its
significance, the interpretations, and the overall contribution of the research.
In order to assist you in improving your work for possible future publication, I identified some key
areas to improve based on the reviews. I hope you will find these comments constructive and
detailed enough to provide some guideposts.
1.Conceptualization: Culture concept
a.Reviewer 2 noted that the culture concept was not developed enough, problematic, and needed
further justification. In his/her words: [M]ost of the companies come from USA, can you say that
US has a uniform culture? Furthermore, most of the companies are global and they work in global
business environment, what is really a point of national culture in that context? Why it is worth of
studying GRI and national culture if national culture is really a vague concept which really does
not exist?
2.Methods: Sample and approach
a.Reviewer 1 raised some critical questions and points regarding the GRI sample (see first
paragraphs in review).
b.Both reviewers suggested the researchers consider qualitative

Meaning Of Harm
To have a genuine of the meaning of harm , it is simply something that causes someone to be hurt.
Although, the harm created that is usually harmful to people, can very likely be harmful to the
environment, as well. The principle that prevents harming others is linked to the idea of
environmental protection and the safety of people involved. Despite the fact, in both
environmental protection, and product and worker safety cases, there is often the possibility of
people justifiably accepting some harm for greater good, and especially of accepting the risk of
some possible harm for the attainment of some assured good. (DeGeorge, 272) Harm is undeniably

Liability for one s actions means that one can rightly be made to pay for the adverse effects of
one s actions on others. (DeGeorge, 104) Liability does not necessarily involve moral
responsibility for the action taking place, although. Strict liability stresses that there is no
excusing conditions that are accepted or applicable. It is the responsibility placed on somebody
who did not act negligently. For example, consider selling a product that has defective problems.
You did not intentionally make it defective but you are held liable for it, even though the seller
did not intend to have it defective. Corporate liability is different because it is formed to limit the
liability of shareholders. It determines the extent to how much they are liable for, unlike strict
liability. The corporation can be punished or prosecuted if actions were done for benefits, results
from negligence, or due to lack of responsible

The Importance Of Inventory Management Systems Of Asda Essay
To critically evaluate the importance of inventory management systems of Asda, UK
Abstract
The topic has been chosen for research is to critically evaluate the inventory management systems
of retail industry in UK. This industry is continuously growing up with pleasure of customers even
the fluctuation in customer choices. Moreover, this sector has been hugely impacted from 2008 to
2010 by the economic crisis, when customer did not have enough money to spend. As a result
some retail businesses have incurred a loss and shut down their operation. Though some of the
retailer took the challenge and continued their business to see the future success. But inaccuracy of
stock count leads to poor availability in store level stock. Moreover employees inadequate level of
skills and improper management clue to poor control of inventory management. As a result
decrease the customer satisfactions therefore fall in revenues and ultimately collapse in profitability
level. (Lussier, 2012)
In addition increases the costs due to out of date and damage lots of inventory, which are also
leading to high shrinkage level for the retailer. It is possible to overcome these barriers and enhance
the company s reputation, increase customer satisfactions including high level of profitability by
practising good inventory management system in place (Warren, Reeve, Duchac, 2013).

Comparison Of The Article Dignity And Dreams
Introduction The question of concern in the article, Dignity and Dreams (Sykes, 2015), was
whether the Earned Income Tax Credit [EITC] provided families with enough support to
progress financially just over the poverty line. While This was an important focus there was a
The emphasis on how the family respectfully and discreetly received the money was also an
active factor. Likewise, in the second article, Bonus or Rebate? (Epley, 2006), there was a
concern about a consumer s reluctant choice to spend a check depending on its label. They
specifically tracked spending patterns of consumers receiving either a Rebate (a loss) check or a
bonus (a gain) check and documented whether they spent a larger portion of the check or saved

Or would the recipients spend a surplus of money if thought to be a bonus check? Sykes (2015)
had found that families felt a relief from financial stress when it came to receiving their yearly
lump sum from the government. They were able to pay back many of their debts, just as a
responsible family should. This allowed them to enhance the amount of consumption they were
given leeway for. Such as toys or brand name foods. For families in Welfare who were given
limited room to grow, EITC left enough money to lift dreams off the ground and making it
possible for families to invest in their futures. All of these factors made it easier for the families
to feel a sense of citizenship. Social inclusion plays a larger factor than once thought. Using
government programs like SNAP (food stamps) ostracized people in public areas; making it
difficult to feel proud or in a sense normal . I strongly believe that this article found what they set
out to look for. The results clearly show that EITC gave low wage families a sense of dignity, but
since the population interviewed and tracked was so small it s difficult to believe that all families
in the same program live entirely the same. The lurking variables consisted of past programs
impeding on the behavior of present recipients in the EITC program. These past programs have
altered the way of thinking for some people. The

Examples Of Torture And Into The Dark Chamber
3.2 Torture and Into the Dark Chamber
Coetzee s novel Waiting for the Barbarians is often considered to be his most powerful work,
because it offers a significant addition to the international discourse on torture in South Africa. For
Coetzee, it represented a unique challenge to his literary craft, namely, how to present such an
atrocity as torture in a novel without repeating it:
For the writer the deeper problem is not to allow himself to be impaled on the dilemma proposed
by the state, namely, either to ignore its obscenities or else to produce representations of them. The
true challenge is: how not to play the game by the rules of the state, how to establish one s own
authority, how to imagine torture and death on one s own terms. (Coetzee ed. Atwell, Doubling the

Proper Way To Display A Flag
How does your piece of art communicate, evoke, or inspire? What do you think the artist was
trying to say with his or her work?
Dread Scott definitely created a lot of controversy between people throughout the United States
with his artwork What is the Proper Way to Display a Flag. People started communicating and
discussing the artwork with one another. This definitely evoked a lot of people negatively.
Americans were very upset to see this art displayed in a public museum. People starting

not approve of the artwork at all saying that it was disgraceful and made him worry about the idea
of freedom of speech (Scott, n.d.). This artwork inspired the government to outlaw displaying the

Natural Hazards In California
Natural hazards are different natural phenomena that disrupt the usual live of a population, destroy
and demolish objects of material value. They often have a negative effect on nature, and can happen
anywhere in the world. Many different types of natural hazards exist; for example, earth quakes,
landslides, floods, snow drifts, hurricanes, droughts, volcano eruptions, storms, etc. Natural hazards
can happen independently or can be related to each other. If there is an earthquake, it can lead to a

Kate Chopin The Storm
In order to dismantle the structure of a patriarchal society, Kate Chopin, the author of the short
story, The Storm, creates fictive work that examines sexual expression, gender normative roles, and
societal expectations through a metaphoric Louisiana storm. In the beginning of the story the
reader is introduced to father and son, BobinГґt and Bibi, who are sitting inside of a store waiting
for the storm to pass. Chopin starts off the story alluding to the storm that would soon come. The
narrator says ...certain sombre clouds that were rolling with sinister intention from the west,
accompanied by a sullen, threatening roar. In order to illustrate this effectively she uses the literary

growing between them. As part two continues to reveal the burning passion of two old flames,
Chopin incorporates the color white throughout the text. She writes that the bed in Calixta s room

how she was as white as the couch she lay upon, describes her firm elastic flesh as creamy lily,
and states that the generous abundance of her passion is metaphorically like a white flame. The
color white here is symbolic of the chaste (often societal) standards of marriage expected to be
upheld in BobГ®not and Calixta s home. However, it also emphasizes that the sexual tension

The Aunts Realization Of Lying
The Aunts Realization of the Positives of Lying In the story Was it Heaven or Hell by Mark
Twain it portrays the worst sin to be lying. In it a lie had no place. In it a lie was unthinkable
(Twain 29). What this quote is telling me the aunts think that lying is unacceptable they think it is
totally wrong and if you lie you go to hell. When the perfect daughter lies the aunts were furious.
They insisted on the daughter confessing. So they went to ill mother in the hospital. Tell your
mother all. Purge your soul. Leave nothing unconfessed. (Twain 31). The aunts believe that if you
tell a lie and don t confess it before you die you automatically go to hell. As the mother and
daughter s health gets worse this is when the aunts start realize

Describing Cell Division Essay
Hypothesis: To observe cells located in an onion root tip and identify which stage of cell division
the cells are in.
Introduction: Prevost and Dumas (1824)first proposed cell division, when they described
cellular division in fertilized frog eggs. In 1858 Rudolf Virchow popularised the one omnis
cellulae cellula epigram ( Every cell originates from another existing cell like it ). Strasburger in
1873 found this epigram to be true, as he and Flemming found out that new nuclei was developed
from pre existing ones. The term of mistosis was used to describe this process by Flemming in
1882(Tan 2006). Cell division is necessary for an organism to grow, mature and sustain tissue. The
division of a individual cell produces a pair of daughter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Centriole replication also begins in G1 and normally continues until G2.When the activities of G1
have been accomplished the cell begins the S phase. In this phase there is DNA replication and the
synthesis of proteins and histones in the nucleus. The aim of DNA replication in cells is to prepare
the cells to undergo mitosis, copying the genetic information in the nucleus . A single chromosome
copy is given to each of the daughter cells.Once DNA replication is completed there is a concise G2
phase dedicated to last minute protein synthesis and completion of centriole replication. The cell
will then enter the M phase (prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase) and the beginning of
mitosis.During prophase the DNA changes to form chromosomes while for mitotic spindle made of
proteins called micro tubules begins to form and attaches to the kinetochores on each chromosome.
In metaphase the chromosomes are moved to the centre plate of the cell by the spindle
microtubules. In anaphase the micro tubules attached to the kinetochores of each chromosome
shorten pulling the chromatids of each chromosome to polar ends of the cell while the unattached
micro tubules stretch the cell.
During telophase the chromatid is now called chromosomes. It reaches the poles of the cell as the
unattached microtubules continue to elongate. This is then followed by cytokinesis.
Method: Obtain an onion root and cut the bottom of

Sebastian Theodor Mowatt HaМЉvaМЉs Haugland
Australia is a big country. It lives about 24,13 million people there. The capital of Australia is
Canberra and the largest city is Sydney. They are famous for the Great Barrier Reef and have some
famous actors and artists. Example Agnus young, Heath Ledger and Sia. In Australiayou can swim

He is famous as the Co Founder, songwriter and lead guitarist of the rock band AC/DC. He was
originally born in Scotland but as very young, he s family moved to Australia. He dropped out of
school when he was 15 years old because he s success in music. Agnus formed the band
Kantuckee, then Tantrum. Because the bands did not have much success he formed a band
with he s brother, Malcom Young. Malcom Young sadly died 18 of November 2017. Agnus is
known to play on stage with he s school uniform because, right after school (before he dropped
out), he sat down with the band. Still to this day he uses a school uniform while preforming on
stage. In later years they have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They have
also won a Grammy award. The reason why Agnus Young is an important person is because, he
influenced rock history. He s signature guitar is the Gibson SG . He started to cooperate with
Gibson. Because he used the SG, he helped Gibson with their sales. Another thing that made him
famous is the tone of he s guitar and the way he played. By this he influenced the rock

Analysis Of The Holocaust And Bourdieu s Habitus Theory
The Jewish Holocaust of 1939 1945, the Cambodian Genocide of 1975 1979, the Rwanda
Genocide of 1994, the rise of Al Qaeda, Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), Boko Haram,
September 11 2001 (9/11) attacks, French attacks of November 2015 these are some events that
have defied social and normative expectations of human behaviour as it probes into the dark
subject of the capacities of terror and violence. Conflict theorist argue that conflict is embedded in

He saw the Holocaust and Holodomor as a product of the modernity s faith in progress embodied in
bureaucracy and technocracy. For him, the most important factor of the Holocaust was the modern,
technical bureaucratic patterns of action and the mentality they institutionalize, generate, sustain
and produce. Contemporary mass murder is distinguished by the virtual absence of all
spontaneity but the prominence of rational, carefully calculated design and it stands out by its
purpose. Hitler s genocide was a process of organized exclusion and murder which required
cooperation of huge sections of military and bureaucracy to accomplish. This analysis makes up
for the inability for the conflict theory in explaining long term violence and conflict, and its
patterns. However, he failed to explore the role individual factors and group interests, values and
norms play in mass violence and

A Brief Note On Diabetes And Low Physical Activity
Diabetes is one of the most common non communicable diseases in the world with currently 347
million people living with the condition and was the direct cause of approximately 1.5 million
deaths in 2012 (WHO). It is a condition that occurs when the body cannot provide enough insulin
or cannot use the insulin that is produced effectively. Insulin is what allows glucose to enter the
body s cells for energy so without it, too much glucose stays in the blood stream. The insulin is
what regulates blood sugar and without it, it can cause damage to the body. There are two types
of diabetes, Type 1 is caused when the pancreas cannot produce insulin and is less common in
diabetic patients. Type 2 diabetes (NIDDM) is caused when the body does not... Show more content

Legumes are an important component in a healthy diet especially in developing countries and
play a much less significant role in the diet of western countries. Within Britain it is baked beans
that are extremely popular, however there sweet tomato sauce is usually high in sugar, and in
the Far East soya beans are staple part of their diet (Lean, 2006). It is said that leguminous plants
should be a key component in a healthy diabetic diet to control and manage the patient s
diabetes. Regular consumption of legumes should occur as they have various properties that
can contribute to protecting from obesity, cardiovascular disease and of course NIDDM. It is
said that a serving a day of legumes (1/2 a cup) can have positive effects on health, this being the
minimum that should be consumed. Mirmiran et al (2014) claims that this food commodity is a
supportive functional food that should be permanent in a diabetic s diet because of their low
glycaemic index, high fibre and phytochemical content that will help reduce the risk of
complications associated with spikes in blood glucose. This is one of the main reasons why
people with diabetes or pre diabetes should have a high legume diet. It has been shown that
lower glycaemic index (GI) diet has been associated with improved control over diabetes. The GI is
a ranking of carbohydrate containing foods based on their overall effect of blood glucose levels by

Educational Disparity And Inequality
The most pressing public policy issue affecting my community is educational disparity and
inequality. Education is the key for racial equality, yet the federal government continues to neglect
the educational discrepancies that plague various African American communities. Opportunities
that are not offered to African Americanstudents are a microcosm to the present struggles minorities
endure. The continued growth of the Black middle class since the 1960 s has serve to expand the
social and educational advancement of black students. However, recent reports show that an
increased number of minority high schoolgraduates in urban settings suffer from inadequate school

  • 2. National Public Health Performance Standards Program In 1994 the Core Public Health Functions Steering Committee at the Center for Disease Control (CDC) released a list of 10 Essential Public Health Services ( The Public Health System, 2014). This was an essential step towards making established public health organizations accountable and giving new programs a framework on which to develop from. This list outlines the foundation for the National Public HealthPerformance Standards Program. The ten essential public healthservices provide a way to assess the impact of these programs. This paper will explore and analyze case studies and the essential public health services they represent. Case One surrounds the issue of water fluoridation. The process of water samples being submitted for testing each month was described, along with which public health sectors the results are reported to. Krisberg states that the parameters for water fluoridation levels were first established in 1962. She also reports that the level of fluoride established at that time was 1.2 milligrams per liter. In 2015 this level was reduced to 0.7 milligrams per liter (Krisberg, 2015). Many of the ten essential public health services can be seen in the details of the first case study. The instance described in case one correlates most closely to the sixth essential public health service to enforce laws and regulations that protect health and ensure safety (American Public Health Association, n.d.). As of 2014, NetSuite was a leading provider of cloud based financial and enterprise resource planning, as well as omnichannel commerce software. Cloud based computing uses the internet to deliver applications and software companies from a remote server. By doing this, companies were able to eliminate the cost of installing and maintaining infrastructure used to store these applications and other services. This means that the actual computing for these services is done via the cloud or off site, so the medium sized companies can access everything via a single comprehensive business suite without the worry of multiple services and having the computing power necessary to manage different products. These services are licensed for a much shorter period of time, monthly, quarterly, or annually, so there is a much lower cost of switching between services. These services generate the actual revenue through direct and indirect methods with almost all sales conducted over the phone. The direct sales are a product of direct contact with medium sized companies or units of larger companies while the indirect sales are from relationships with channel partners across many different sales regions, NA, LA, EU, and AP. The key success factors to its business line were maintaining a comprehensive product that was affordable to mid sized companies and sufficiently differentiated from competitors products. The comprehensive aspect is demonstrated by the ability to be a completely one stop suite for these companies with offerings across all functions, ERP, HRM, financial management, etc. The affordability aspect is primarily a byproduct of not requiring a significant upfront cost to the companies and a licensing model with shorter periods of subscription, the maximum of which is a year. Example Of Six Hats Strategy Concept of Six hats strategy The concept is typically used in business settings; however, applying the same concept in counseling supervision can help facilitate and balance diverse viewpoints and polarities. (Li, 2008). Six thinking hats strategy helps in creative thinking in which one can unbundle thinking; in a way that one can pay full attention to each aspect in turn. Through using this strategy, one can separate the modes of thinking and then apply each mode to the same subject in order to end up with full color thinking on the subject. There is a suggestion that the chemical setting in the brain (neurotransmitter, etc) may be different when one is being positive from when one is being negative, and from one is being creative. If this proves to be so, then there is an absolute need to separate out the different components of thinking in order to do each properly. It would be impossible to have one brain setting that was ideal for all sorts of thinking. (De Bono, 1998). The six thinking hats model of conducting supervision appears to offer ... • 9. My Writing Techniques During this semester in Writing Workshop, I learned many writing techniques that helped improve my writing. I learned how to research topics effectively and use scholarly sources instead of popular sources. I learned how to conduct an interview and developed problem solving skills. All of these techniques helped me develop my final solution to the issue I chose to research. In high school, when my teacher told me to research a topic and write an essayon it, I would go to Google and type in the topic. Once Google provided me with millions of hits, I usually chose the first one and used it. Also, I would use Wikipedia. Wikipedia contains information about topics, but people can edit those pages and put false information. At the beginning of my second semester, I started to learn about scholarly sources. Edmund Burke states In a democracy, the majority of the citizens is capable of exercising the cruelest oppressions upon the minority . These simple words sum up the conflicts of every minority groupthroughout our time. A minority group shares a common set of social practices which are recognized from within the group and by others outside the group. Comte created a unified philosophy about human behavior to limit human suffering. One example of sociological method and theory is W.E.B Du Bois and Philadelphia s Negro Problems who used demographic data and personal interviews to show that the black community was perceived as a source of crime and poverty due to the policies of society. • 12. A Experiment On Paramecium Experiment Essay Paramecium Experiment Introduction The purpose of the paramecium experiment was to observe competition or allelopathy between two different species of paramecium in the laboratory. Allelopathy is a way organisms inhibit or affect other organisms when developing in nature. This insures the survival of one organism against another organism. For instance in plants, some can release a chemical that enters the environment and inhibits the growth and development of surrounding plants. Another example in nature is plants developing defenses to prevent herbivores from eating them. This kind of competition happens in nature when the need for resources is limited and survival is necessary. Competition is displayed throughout nature all the time. A man named Georgy Gause previously conducted this experiment between P. aurelia and P. caudatum. He determined that different factors influence how the two species compete and coexist. Ever since then not many scientist have attempted to experiment on paramecium. Only until recently have more experiments been attempted. The issue with the experiment was that it was conducted in 1935 and nowadays there are more advance ways to conduct and interpret the experiment and results. As previously stated, knowledge on this particular subject has been limited. Ever since Gause s experiment, not many other scientists have attempted it until recently. In Candide Voltaire introduces the oppositional philosophy of optimism , denounces optimism as naГЇve and a facile perspective, and ultimately describes his enlightened ideals. Firstly, Voltaire illustrates optimism in Candide through the character Dr. Pangloss. Optimism was a popular perspective in the early 18th century. • 21. Essay On Mercury Pollution Mercury pollution occurs from industrial sources such as mining, power plants and coal combustion centers. When mercury is released from the sources, it can travel halfway around the world before it ever enters into the waterways and contaminates the fish that we then eat. Through the trade of those fish, people in every continent are at risk for mercury pollution. Newborns are also at risk of mercury pollution due to the consummation of fish by their mothers, thousands of babies are at risk every year of impaired motor skills ( Reduce Mercury Pollution ). In order to reduce the pollutants of mercury we need to implement a policy to clean up sites already contaminated, limit the amounts discharged into the water and provide consumers on tips to reduce their exposure to it. My first step in decreasing the amount of mercury is to focus on the areas that are already contaminated. They would priority since the mercury would have had time to sit and settle and we would want to clean it up before it causes further harm. Some of the sites would be cleaned up under the EPA s superfund policy. One example of a site that is being cleaned up is the Carson River Mercury Site in Nevada. This is the former sites of mills and mining that have contaminated the soil, waterways and fish over a 50 mile stretch. Nevada at one time recommended that limited consumption of fish and duck from the river should be in effect. State and federal actions are being performed in order to excavate and remove the contaminated soils and they were sent to a mineral resource recovery facility. That action has already reduced the amount of exposure during the monitoring period and they plan to add a layer of clean topsoil to reduce the exposure to any mercury soil left behind. They have also worked in sampling 26 different developments for mercury affects and levels. They are working on figuring out the cost and benefit of cleaning up the rivers sediment to try to remove the mercury from the river, wetlands and reservoir. • 22. Social Movement And The Industrial Revolution There have been several social movements in history that have impacted the world. Groups of people have come together and tried their hardest to make a difference in unresolved problems and issues. It is hard to make a difference as an individual trying to change something big, it becomes easier when you find people who have the same beliefs as you and will fight for it along your side. This is social change, and normally comes about through collective behavior and social movements. Social change is a significant change in behaviors and cultural values and norms. For example significant changes that have occurred in the past are the abolition of slavery, the changes put into action after 9/11, the feminist movement, and the industrial revolution. As I mentioned early social change occurs through both collective behavior and social movements. Collective behavior is a voluntary activity that many people take part in to change norms and values of the people around them. Collective behavior can be seen in many different ways. For example, there can be crowds, masses, panics, mobs, riots, fads, public opinion and fashion. An example of this would be when Cooper Tire in Findlay Ohio went on strike in order to get a new contract with better medical benefits. • 23. Four Aspects Of The Four Elements Of Classical Conditioning Classical Conditioning is the repeated use of stimuli in combination with a repeated significant psychological event to train the one being conditioned to anticipate the event in response to the stimuli. The most basic example of this type of conditioning is train an animal to expect treats by making use of their sense of sound and blowing a whistle or ringing a bell just before you give them a treat each time. This will train the animal to associate the sound of the whistle or bell with the reception of the forthcoming treat, and it will begin to salivate in anticipation of getting the treat whenever it hears the sound. There are four elements of classical conditioning. These elements of classical conditioning include unconditioned stimulus, unconditioned response, conditioned stimulus, and conditioned response. These four elements make up the classical conditioning procedure. An unconditioned stimulus in an experiment is a stimulus that elicits a response from the subject of the experiment without any previous conditioning. This can be anything that elicits an instinctual response that an organism might have, such as the treat that the animal salivates over as described in the experiment in paragraph one. When one looks at the painting, it is as if they are reading the journal of the artist. The artist s personal style, which was developed through inspiration from great artists such as Caravaggio, Michelangelo and Raphael, stands out in this painting. One can clearly see elements of the painting which have been influenced by the works of the artists that he carefully studied. (Jaffe,10) The painting itself is an artistic representation of the account told in the Gospel where King Herod ordered the killing of infant boys. The painting was made in c.1610 BCE, has the dimensions 142 x 182 cm and uses the medium oil on wood (Jaffe, 73, 194). The painting, like many of Rubens artworks has a dynamic sense of movement along with the expression of the full spectrum of human emotions. Children can be seen being torn from their mother s arms, some dead and others brutally injured. Mothers are shown mourning over the death of their child or trying to escape from the soldiers by scratching or biting (Williams, 1). Rubens artistic training began in the 1590 s under the guidance of Tobias Verhaecht and Adam van Noort. However, Ruben entered his apprenticeship with Otto van Veen in 1594, who had the most profound influence on Rubens work in his early years. Despite the fact, in both environmental protection, and product and worker safety cases, there is often the possibility of people justifiably accepting some harm for greater good, and especially of accepting the risk of some possible harm for the attainment of some assured good. Likewise, in the second article, Bonus or Rebate? (Epley, 2006), there was a concern about a consumer s reluctant choice to spend a check depending on its label. Sykes (2015) had found that families felt a relief from financial stress when it came to receiving their yearly lump sum from the government. They were able to pay back many of their debts, just as a responsible family should. This allowed them to enhance the amount of consumption they were given leeway for. Such as toys or brand name foods. For families in Welfare who were given limited room to grow, EITC left enough money to lift dreams off the ground and making it possible for families to invest in their futures. All of these factors made it easier for the families to feel a sense of citizenship. Social inclusion plays a larger factor than once thought. Using government programs like SNAP (food stamps) ostracized people in public areas; making it difficult to feel proud or in a sense normal . I strongly believe that this article found what they set out to look for. The results clearly show that EITC gave low wage families a sense of dignity, but since the population interviewed and tracked was so small it s difficult to believe that all families in the same program live entirely the same. The lurking variables consisted of past programs impeding on the behavior of present recipients in the EITC program. These past programs have altered the way of thinking for some people. The ...
