The History of the Iphone
The History of the iPhone
By selling 8.8 million handsets in the first quarter of 2010, the Apple iPhone has become the most
widely sold mobile phone in the US. Read on to peep into the history of this fast selling device.
History and Development iPhone s history began when Steve Jobs instructed Apple Inc s top
engineers to investigate touch screens and create the iPhone. The development of this device started
nearly a decade before it came to the markets in 2007. In 1999, Apple acquired the rights to the
domain name iphone.org. Several years later the Apple chief announced that they were opting to
invest in advanced mobile handsets. Again in an interview in 2002, Steve Jobs mentioned that
Apple was working on a smartphone that would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Criticism
The iPhone has been so well received device by the public because it provides innovative and
revolutionary technology. But this doesn t imply that it s immune to criticism. It has been openly
criticized by consumers and industry professionals for its poor battery life. The JD Power and
Associate consumer satisfaction survey gave Apple a low grade on battery life. In response, Apple
started replacing the malfunctioning batteries for free. Most recently, consumers have been
complaining about the iPhone s antenna problem. The metal bands surrounding the iPhone 4 also
act as antennas for reception. When the user grips the phone towards the bottom, it drops the
signal. Steve Jobs has responded to this problem by offering free bumper cases to iPhone 4 users.
Impact of the iPhone
The iPhone is the most innovative phone of all time. It s a trendsetter. Whenever a new iPhone
model hits the market, hundreds of buyers stand outside cellular stores waiting for hours to get
their hands on the device. It is a remarkable, all in one technological device geared towards the
general public and it is still hugely popular.

Essay about America Needs a Larger Gas Tax
America Needs a Larger Gas Tax
Don t you hate driving up to the gas station to fill up your car with gasoline only to see that the
price has risen again. You stand there stunned for a moment. Just long enough for the rage to
build up and compell you to go into a frenzy of screaming obsceneties. Yes, it is a scene that
happens all across the country, but, I think I can offer some words of advice: Get used to it.
You may hate the gas prices now but if I had my way I would raise it a whole dollar more than what
it is now. Now before you gouge my eyes out let me explain. Gas prices should go up a dollar for
three reasons. First, we need to build a high speed rail system in America. We are long overdue for
one and as our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We would keep it tightly regulated and only the
upmost security would be kept.
A high speed rail system would be a good idea for many reasons. Primarily, it would cut down on
the amount of people who drive or fly. In 1997 the government issued a report about how high
speed trains would help solve congestion problems that face our nation s highways and airports
(www.fra.dot.gov/o/hsgt/index.html). Also, most high speed trains require less fuel than your
average airplane or automobile.
Money left over form the tax, or if we choose to continue the tax just for this purpose, would be
used to help fund research on alternative fuels. They have already made a great many advances
with alternative fuels and hybrid cars. Honda has already made a that can travel up to 700 miles
on one tank of gas. And it can get up to 70 mpg on the highway (www.consumerenergycenter.org
/transportation/afv/hybrid.html). This kind of progress has all been done within the last decade.
Imagine with a little extra funding the progress that could be made. Imagine, driving down the
road, getting about 100 to 150 mpg. You would no longer have to even worry about gas prices
because you would only have to fill up about once a month, which leads me to the next reason
why raising gas prices would be a good idea.
If we raise gas prices now it ll mean a lot lower prices later on. Simple math will

Sex Trafficking Is A Huge Global Health And Human Rights...
By the time you finish reading this paper nearly 23 children around the world will be victims of
sex trafficking. Sex trafficking is a huge global health and human rights issue affecting roughly
152 countries around the world (Greenbaum Crawford Jakubiak, 2015). The United Nations
describes sex trafficking as the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring, or receipt of
persons, by means of the threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, of fraud,
of deception, of the abuse of power, or of a position of vulnerability or of the giving or receiving of
payments or benefits to achieve the consent of a person having control over another person, for the
purpose of exploitation. Exploitation shall include, at a minimum, the exploitation of the prostitution
of others or other forms of sexual exploitation, forced labor or services, slavery or practices
similar to slavery, servitude, and the removal of organs (Greenbaum, J., Crawford Jakubiak, 2015).
The estimated number of victims vary greatly, but are said to range from 600,000 to 2.4 million
annually (Miller, 2013), with roughly 100,000 annually just in the United States(Titchen, 2014).
According to Miller (2013), the figures 600,000 to 2.4 million is thought to be grossly understated
due to secrecy, and misclassification of victims (labeled as criminals and prostitutes, rather than
victims). The United States is not only a source and transit country, but also considered to be the

Purpose Of Operating Systems For Computer Programs
Purpose of operating systems An operating system is known to be a software which lets the person
to manage computer hardware an also software resources and provides common services for
computer programmes. The most important part when it comes to the computer system is the
operating part of the system software. Most application programs need an operating system to be
able to run. Interactions between things such as keyboard and CPU are also controlled by the
operating systems and this is one of the reason why we use operating systems as they tell the
components what to do and how to communicate with the user and without the operating system the
user would not be able to use the computer or the components with ease. Machine management...

Task manager is what shows the user the programmes that the operating system is running and
how much each programme uses up in the terms of memory. Programmes can only be loaded or
copied from the hard drive into memory for the programme to work and be able to run. There is
a limit on how much RAM to be able to run these programmes. After the programme is shut it has
to be removed from the memory (ram) for there to be more space free for other programmes that
you may want to open up and run. The hard drive however the hard drive is able to store

Damp Proofer
Does your home or property require a skilled damp proofer in Sefton? Damp proofing is a vital
home maintenance requirement to ensure a safe and dry home. Rising damp is common in
homes due to a capillary action where ground moisture rises within the walls as well as from
mortar beds to a potential height of 1m above ground level creating problems for the home. This
includes stained decoration, mould on wall surfaces and fungi in timber as well as lifting
wallpaper and softening plaster. It is possible to have concrete floors suffering from rising damp
without the proper checks and maintenance to upkeep the aesthetics of the home for a longer
lasting occupancy in safety and comfort. In Sefton, damp proofer services are necessary if not
crucial to curb rising damp that could spread through the home or any property when left untreated.

Message Behind Visuals In Shakespeare s Twelfth Night
The message behind my visuals
On the lines:
A giant mask with all the images inside: The essential question is about masks, self explanatory.

Emotions: Emotions and feelings one hides
Eye: A view through the perspective of a mask
Hands pointing and waving: A symbol for social acceptance
The two people holding hands: Represents the friendship of Sebastian and Antonio.
Restricted sign: Represents women who have less rights than men and people who don t have a

However, in many places in the world right now and in Shakespeare s time, not everyone had
this right and were restricted to speak their mind. Except Feste the clown. In Twelfth Night, we
can see that the only position that isn t high ranking and were allowed to say what they wanted
was a jester (fool). For example, while talking to Olivia, he says The more fool, madonna, to
mourn for your brother s soul being in heaven. Take the fool away, gentlemen, which means he
is saying that Olivia is stupid for mourning for her brother, something a normal citizen at the
time wouldn t have been able to say. From this, is it clear that he uses his profession as a
figurative mask to excuse a lot of what he says. Although Feste is a clown, he is one of
Shakespeare s ironies meaning that he is very intelligent on the inside, thus a lot of what he says
is true. This relates to the Essential Question because many people in real life do/did not have
this basic human right. For example, in World War II, the Nazi s restricted the Jews to have rights
and wanted to rid the entire race. The only way the Jews could protect themselves is to disguise
themselves as another race. This helped the Jews gain rights of speech and many

Inside The Closet
Skeletons in the Closet
Our first experience of this old English term came about not as secrets in a person s past but in a
house! Over the years, we have lived in a variety of old homes that embody the history of many
families and diverse activities. Among those homes was an old three story English style rooming
house in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan that was owned by the Anglican Theological College of
Emmanuel and St. Chad. Shirley and I had a flat on the third floor with four single girls living
above us and a single eligible theological professor/Priest below us! Not only were the upper
floors busy but we also had a presence living in the basement that from time to time would enter
into our community life. Special care was taken by all of us to ensure we did not have a
prankster amongst us so we made sure to ascertain that the occurrences were confirmed by more
than one person and that they had happened more than one time to different people. Often we
would hear the horn on my bicycle give a blast at different times of the day. Something or
someone had to squeeze the rubber bulb to force the air through the reed on that horn! During a
small dinner party hosted by the professor, the pictures on the wall shifted on their nails, and there
was no vibration on the floors from music, dancing, or any kind of enthusiastic activity! More than
one person experienced someone answer a phone call to the

The Federalists And Democratic Republicans
From 1789 to 1816, the Federalists and Democratic Republicans approached many problems
differently, sometimes however, they had the same solutions to problems which were posed by
England and the Native Americans. The Federalists and Democratic Republicans both had
different and sometimes similar viewpoints on how to solve the problems they faced during this
particular time period. Federalists supported a strong, huge government that had a loose
constriction of the constitution. They also supported the National Bank, exercise tax. Also, they
thought tariffs should be high, and they believed in an industrial world filled with huge
businesses and mass production of goods. However, the Democratic Republicans wanted a more
agrarian culture. They did not want a huge government, National bank, excise taxes, and they
wanted the tariffs to be low. Some difficulties that the two parties faced were that the British
created were impressments of sailors, assisting the Native Americans in war against the United
States, and the Orders in Council of 1805. The Native Americans also generated problems for
America because they resisted land expansion. Because of their standards and beliefs, this shows
how the two parties faced these particular problems that were caused by Britain and the Native
Americans. Therefore, the Federalists and Democratic Republicans solved problems differently, but
sometimes they had the same idea to work together in order to effectively fix both of the parties

The Importance Of Job Related Stress Among Police Officers
As a police commander or administrator, addressing the concerns of the officers in your employ,
is one of the most important duties that you have. This is especially true when addressing the
issues of job related stress. Studies have shown that many police officers perceive the most stress,
which they experience, originates from within the department. The studies have also shown that
job related stress is a leading cause of cardiovascular disease in policeofficers (Vicini, 2013). With
these thoughts in mind, it is imperative for police administrators to have a plan of action in place,
to evaluate and validate the concerns of the officers, and to provide the most effective practices to
reduce this stress. As an administrator, who officers had confided their concerns to, the first thing
that I would needto do would be to evaluate the validity of the officers claims about the stressors
which they are dealing with. The first step of this process would be to meet with the officers, in a
one on one setting, so that I could evaluate their appearance, mood, level of agitation, and their
sincerity concerning the issues which they are bringing forward. This meeting would be a way of
showing the officers that I am truly concerned with heir issues, and their wellbeing. Once I have
met with the officers, I would move to the next step of the evaluation. For me, the next step in the
evaluation process would be to meet with the complaining officers direct supervisors and

The Purpose Of College Is To Discover Oneself
I strongly agree with Edmundson that the purpose of college is to discover oneself. To begin
with, person goes to college only once and he/she should study what he/she wants he is right
when we come to college we must study what we want to study for example I m a Biochemistry
major I want to study about molecules, orbitals in a molecule, naming molecules, I want to know
all about the periodic table, etc. I don t want to study History or Politics because I don t like those
classes. I m here in collegestudying something that I want to. I also believe that the family around
are the motivation to keep going in the studies at college. Mark s father had never been in any

Abortion In The Silent Scream
According to pioneer foetologist Albert Liley, by the fifty sixth day after conception, the baby s
spinal reflexes are sufficiently developed to feel pain. This is shown in Dr. Bernard Nathanson s
film, The Silent Scream, where the first ultrasound of an abortion.
The clip reveals an eleven week foetus resting in her mother s womb. Suddenly she is alarmed
because of the intruding abortion device and tries to move as far away as she can. Just before her
body is torn to pieces and sucked out through the tube, her tiny mouth opens in an unheard scream
of fear. After the abortion, the doctor who performed it was invited to watch the ultrasound. Once
he had viewed it, he was so upset that he left the room. Ever since that day, he never performed
another abortion.
Additionally, in a 1997 court case, abortionist Leroy Carhart was asked to explain the procedure
of abortion (dilation and evacuation) and then asked if the baby was alive during the process. He
said, I know that the foetus is alive because I can see its heartbeat on the ultrasound. Later, he was
quoted saying, My intent in every abortion I have ever done is to kill the feotus and terminate the
pregnancy.
There you have it, straight from the abortionist s mouth: the child is alive when the abortion is
performed.
That being said, one method to eradicate a baby from the womb is suction aspiration which is used
within the first three months of pregnancy. During this method, the doctor executing the abortion

Gun Control Under Control Essay
Gun Control Under Control
Whenever a shooting happens, such Columbine, the Aurora Theater Shooting, or the Navy Yard
shooting, the question of gun control comes up in politics again. Then after a month or two, the
topic is dropped, until yet another shooting happens. When is this nation going to finally make a
change? America needs to put more emphasis on making certain potential criminals and the
clinically insane do not have access to such dangerous weapons. What about the little boy who
found his parent s gun in his parent s bedside drawer and accidentally shot himself? Should there
not be laws to protect him? The answer is yes. The government needs to take guns out of the hands
of criminals and children and into the hands of people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea of redesigning guns is considered more with public safety due to the larger numbers of
gun related deaths (Now 3). What is so hard about making guns safer? If people are not willing to
make guns safer, which is obviously the case, then there should be gun controls. . Imagine how
many of these accidental deaths could be prevented if guns can be kept out of the hands of children
and the careless.
According to the NCIPC In 1994, there were 38,505 firearm related deaths. These included: more
than 17,800 homicides; more than 18,700 suicides; more than 1,300 unintentional, firearms related
deaths related to firearms (Facts 1). Some of the worst crimes are committed with guns. For
example, the shooting at Columbine which Americans heard about on the news in 1999. Two
teenagers shot and killed twelve students and one teacher at their own school (Facts 1). The boys
were later thought to be mentally ill, as with many of the people who commit shooting such as this.
Could this have been prevented through gun laws that require stricter background checks and better
mental health check ups? In an article by Craig R Whitney, he quotes LaPierre from NBC, We have
a mental health system in this country that has completely and totally collapsed. We have no
national database of these lunatics (Whitney 1). So many suicides and homicides could be
prevented with government mandated mental

What Is The Idea Of Justice In Frankenstein
Under normal circumstances, the monster should not receive justice because he violates socially
accepted rules. This makes it easier to disregard Victor s and the other s actions toward him
because their actions do not overlook social laws and seem necessary. In turn, the monster becomes
less likeable and harder to sympathize with as the narrative continues. However, as the monster
brings up in one of his final speeches, society goes against fundamental Christian rules of
acceptance and welcoming others by not receiving him. Before his death, the monster asserts Am I
to be thought the only criminal, when all human kind sinned against me? Why do you not hate

His story and outlook on life highlights the tension between him and society, while synchronously
pitting them against one another and bringing them together, thus making it difficult to determine
who is truly in the wrong. The monster s predicament highlights how justice is never truly a fair
concept because it cannot be equitable for everyone involved; there is inevitably a winner and a
loser. Shelley masterfully plays upon this notion, recognizing this holds true for the most basic and
extreme situations, illustrating that good and evil are intertwined, making justice incredibly
difficult to achieve and oftentimes much closer connected than first thought. The monster s quest
for justice brings depth and conflict to the story by underlining that while justice is not always fair,
it can be deserved by all. Yet by the Gothic undertones that are present in the story, the tragedy lies
in the fact that the monster, though helpless and lonely his entire life, can never have justice as he
is doomed to repel it from the moment his life

Youth Gang Membership And It s Implication Adolescent...
There are over 700,000 adolescents who are involved in youth gangs. (Thomas). America has a
youth gang culture that is present in its society. This paper will focus on youth gang
membership and it s implication to adolescent development. First to be discussed will be the
demographics of adolescents involved in gangs. Then the reasons why youth join gangs and how
it is related to their natural development. Next, we will turn to contemplate the implication of
gang culture and involvement in America s public school system and the effect on teachers and
their classrooms. Finally, we will look into how prevention programs on large and small scale can
positively influence gang culture in our education systems. Who in America is members of
gangs? According to the National Youth Gang Center in the United States 28,700 youth gangs
that involved 780,200 members (Thomas). Gang membership is more likely among males than
females and the average age in 18 although it can range anywhere from 10 18. Gangs are more
likely in large urban areas, but can range from any size city or town. It s important to note the
difference between youth gangs and a deviant youth group. Youth gangs are defined by researchers
as distinct group recognized by its members and the community and involved in criminal acts
(Thomas 63). The main difference involves the recognition of the gangs in their respected
communities. Most of the time gangs will show their membership by different symbols or specific

PSA Blood Test
The PSA blood test is used by doctors to screen asymptomatic men for prostate cancer. A PSA
above 4.0 ng/mL is generally considered to be elevated. Since prostate cancer increases the PSA
level as the cancer progresses doctors generally recommend a biopsy if the PSA test comes back
abnormally high.
When a factor other than prostate cancer causes the PSA level to raise the elevated PSA is called a
false positive. A biopsy has risks, such as the risk of infection and the risk of excessive bleeding.
Given these two facts some doctors advise that their male patients follow a plan of watchful
waiting. Under such a plan the doctor monitors the patient s elevated PSA over a period of months
or years. During this time some doctors also advise that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In general, once the cancer reaches to stage 3 the patient has about a 50 50 percent chance that
the cancer will progress. If the cancer is already at stage 4 when the diagnosis is made, the patient
generally only has a 2 3 year life expectancy.
Treatment options for advanced prostate cancer may include hormone therapy, radiation therapy,
orchiectomy (the surgical removal of the testicles), and possibly chemotherapy. Treatment will
usually cause the PSA to drop significantly. Over time, however, treatment ceases to be effective
as the cancer continues to progress. This is typically associated with a new rise in the PSA level.
After the treatment stops being effective, the cancer is fatal. As of the time this article was written
approximately 27,000 men a year are expected to die in the U.S. from advanced prostate cancer.
How many of these 27,000 deaths will be due to a physician advising his patient to follow a plan

Falling Down Is Failure Research Paper
Mistakes! Whether it is a bad choice in a love partner or lying to a loved one, it s safe to say that
everyone makes mistakes. Beyond doubt it would be impossible not to. When people slip up and
learn from the outcome, those people are taking part in growing up. Growing up is defined as
growing toward physical or mental maturity. Ways to do that is by taking risks and making mistakes.
In many cultures making mistakes is a bad thing, especially in today s society. Making a mistake
would result in some form of punishment, the society is trying to assist in the process of helping
the individual grow as a person and hopefully restrain them from making that mistake again. As

People, especially at a young age, need to take risks and make mistakes for it will increase the
prefrontal cortex. The prefrontal cortex is the front part of the brain; this is where someone s
decision making and their personality lies. For an example, Harlow JM first presented the case
of Phineas Gage who was accidentally struck by a pointed iron bar projected by an explosion
which inflicted massive damage to his frontal lobes, apparently destroying the left orbitomedial
PFC, who went on to develop personality changes ( Siddiqui, Chatterjee, Kumar, Siddiqui,
Goyal). The prefrontal cortex holds all of the individual s memories, emotional control, verbal
expression, and gaze control as well. According to Piaget J, International University Press,
logical reasoning, which in turn depends upon the cognitive functions of the PFC ( prefrontal

warning signs for suicide are talking about wanting to die, withdrawing from family and friends,

And just as the president got straight in front of us... the third shot rang out. And I can

that day people have debated who actually killed him. There are many theories on how he was

The CIA had reasons to want John F. Kennedy not to be president. Because of what happened at
the Bay of Pigs JFK reached his maximum dislike for the agency and it was said John F.
Kennedy had made it clear that he planned to destroy the CIA... (Kennedy) said that he wanted to
splinter the CIA in a thousand pieces and scatter it into the winds (Lane 93). And JFK believed
that after the 1964 election, he would be able to resolve the issue with the CIA by forcing J.
Edgar Hoover to resign and he would be able to create a new international intelligence agency.
(Lane 97). The CIA could have kept the true information about the assassination a secret from
the public because The justice department s softness on the CIA dates from a 1954 agreement
between the two agencies which, in effect, gave the CIA the right to block prosecution or keep a
crime a secret in the name of national security (Lane 114) Three years after the report had been
issued, President Johnson told his White house staff member and political operative Marvin
Watson that he was convinced that there was a plot in connection with the assassination. He
added that he felt that the CIA had something to do with this plot (Lane 109). With the CIA s
abilities, they could have easily covered up that they were the ones that killed John F. Kennedy
and it was easy to blame it on Lee Harvey Oswald because he defected to Russia and he had ties to
Cuba. Also, they had the motive to kill JFK if they knew that he wanted to dismantle the

Shepherd s feeling that age has nothing to do with love and his hopes of winning the younger girl
s heart. The scene that is created is highly discernible as
Spring, the time of year associated with love and light heartedness. The allusions to these things
also demonstrates the Shepherd s hollow sense of hope.
The Shepherd tries to lure the girl by offering her everything in the world.
This materialism clearly shows that Marlowe believes that only fancy trinkets and beautiful
possessions will win the heart of a girl. In virtually every stanza, there is a reference to a nicety
that the Shepherd offers the girl in pursuitof her love.
A belt of straw and ivy buds,
With coral clasps and amber studs;
Christopher Marlowe s Shepherd clearly believes that the only surefire way of attaining love would
be to offer as much as you can and lure your subject into a false sense of being loved by giving her
(or him) the world.
The world means nothing to Sir Walter Raleigh s Nymph, the girl Raleigh presumes to be the
object of the Shepherd s pleas, in his poem entitled quot; The
Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd quot; in direct response to Christopher Marlowe. The beautiful
forest creature is young compared to the elderly

Chesapeake Colonies Benefits
The Chesapeake colonies were drawn to America to gain wealth from silver and gold, but they
quickly realized that they were not as abundant as the Spanish had found in Mexico. The group

AIR DEFENSE OF FRANCE There are many small countries out there, but France is one of the
most powerful small countries there are. Even though France is smaller than the state of Texas it
still ranks in the world s top ten power rankings. In order to understand a countries true power you
have to know the terrain, history of the country. You also have to know about their militaryand
defense systems. You cannot defeat a country if you do not know their full capabilities. You cannot
expect to rank in the world s top power rankings and not be able to defend your country against all
enemies. France first became a country in 987, known as the Kingdome of France. When the
Kingdom of France became a country, it faced many wars, fighting over land with the English
monarchs, and even more so when Latter inherited Spain that surrounded the country of France. It
was not until the 1700s that France started playing a major role in the European and world events.
In the 20th century, France has experienced numerous crises, including the devastation of two
world wars, political and social upheavals, and the loss of large empires Indochina, Algeria, West
and Equational Africa (Mills, C. 1993). France survived and overcame the devastation of World
War II to be one of the world s top suppliers of agricultural and industrial products and a major

The Use Of Steroids In Professional Sports
Since the beginning of sports athletes have sought a way to get an advantage over their
opponents; Whether it be in ancient rome using berries to give a sight stimulation during
competition or today injecting steroids to shave that extra second off your run, the use of PED s

more athletes will lose their careers over doping scandals. Today the modern athletes are expected
to perform at the top level in front of huge audiences, while most rise to the challenge some feel the
need for an extra edge to top off their performances. According to the USADA doping is anything

The Quiet World Of Written Words
The Quiet World of Written Words: How I Discovered Literature It was a time of long hair and
stealth window escapes at the midnight hour, a time of skipping class and anti establishment
sentiment spewing forth from my foul, juvenile, remorseless mouth. I was mad without reason.
Full of aggressive energy, anger was the emotion with which I chose to express myself. Naturally, I
found fuel for the fire in a band named Rage Against the Machine. Front man Zach de la Rocha put
the emotions I was experiencing into a lyrical poetic, militant, rap core metal form. It was unlike
anything I had ever heard before: pure, intellectual, and most of all, unfiltered. Initially, I was
drawn to Rage because of its sound and raw musical talent with their... Show more content on

Because I could identify with this song, I found myself wondering: Who was this character Tom
Joad? Was he flesh as I? Was he even a man, or was he just a ghost after all? I was clueless and
perplexed. Consequently, I took it upon my teenage self to venture out in order to discover just
who he was. Though I was prepared to comb through every article necessary, a simple Google
search was all the elbow grease it took to unearth the mystery: Tom Joad is the main character of a
novel written by John Steinbeck, titled The Grapes of Wrath. I bought the book, and it was then
that I branched out from raging sound waves into the quiet and meticulous world of written
words. The year was 2008; and the first decade of the new millennium was drawing to an end on
an extraordinarily low point in America s economic history. What has come to be known as The
Great Recession would have led to an apocalyptic collapse of the world economy, had it not been
for governmental intervention. The financial crises tattooed drastic and lasting effects on the lives
of the majority of Americans; among other things, many lost their homes, savings, and their
investments. Needless to say, there was an overall sense of despair throughout the heartland, and
the big questions on everyone s minds were: What do we do now? and Where do we go from here?
As I read word after word and page after page, I came to the realization that the world in which I
lived was in fact not that far from the problems

Gifted Education In America
Education was built, along with many other things, to the average standard. It was designed with

up around 6 to 10 percent of the students within America, roughly 3 to 5 million students ( Gifted

Once the children have been identified, they need to have an adequate program to aid in their
cognitive growth. The majority of gifted children are placed into the general education, leading to
boredom. As they understand concepts faster, especially abstract, boredom sets in as the children
continuously have to wait for their peers to catch up. Programs need to be made for them, as they
are the future. They will aid in the development and continuation of America, far more than the
average child. Several methods can be applied to a gifted program to keep the children engaged
and their minds simulated. Acceleration and Enrichment are two options, with the accelerated
program having the greatest positive feedback. Acceleration allows for the child to learn at a rapid
pace, depending on them not their peers, while enrichment is the addition of supplement
information or reading (Subotnik). Many programs in place presently have an accelerated program,
but many are still too slow or parents have no knowledge of it. The programs also puts less stress
on the general education teachers, especially if they don t know how to handle these students.
Teachers within the program should be specialized in dealing with the gifted, allowing for a better
understanding and connection between the student and teacher. And as all gifted students are
different, the teachers need to be slightly flexible, but still continue along the accelerated path. The
program needs to placed everywhere, and allow equal chance for everyone to get in. Many argue
against these types of programs, as they make clear the separation between the elite and average
(Winner). While others offer grade skipping, but never take into account the social development of

Why Would A Zombie Apocalypse Happen
Zombies are something that everybody knows about. They are in games, movies, TV shows,
books and comics. Everyone has a different idea of zombies but the one thing that everyone asks is
that if a zombie apocalypse could really happen. It is possible for a zombie apocalypse to happen.
There are a lot of reasons why but it wouldn t be like the zombieapocalypse in the movies. There are
also a lot of reasons why a zombie apocalypse would happen. Zombies are people who have died
and come back to life. When they come back to life, they don t think and they don t know how to
act right. All they want to do is eat the living. That s what zombies are usually like in movies, TV
shows and video games. If a zombie apocalypse were to actually happen zombies would be a little
different. Scientists have a few ideas of how zombies would actually be if a zombie apocalypse
happens. First of all, zombies wouldn t be coming out of people s graves. The dead wouldn t be
able to return once they were buried. One of the main reasons is because zombies would not be
able to get out of the boxes that they are buried in. Not even an actual living human can get out of
it. Zombies would have to be people who are out in the world and alive or people... Show more

cells that scientists have researched would be put inside the people. If the cells are bad and

Hiv And How Is It Different From Hiv ( Human...
What exactly is AIDS and how is it different from HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus)? AIDS
is a severe form of HIV in which someone s immune system is completely destroyed; HIV is a
virus that affects the immune system. In other words, you can have HIV without AIDS, but if you
have AIDS, then you automatically have HIV. The origin of HIV is disputed between scientists;
some have theorized that it was passed down from apes and somehow transferred between
humans. HIV attacks the bloodstream and eliminates the body s CD4 cells, which essential for
countering diseases and infections. Without these cells, the human body is vulnerable to viruses
and diseases. Once inside one s body, the HIV virus first replicates and spreads itself using the
CD4 cells; then the CD4 cells are destroyed. Once the CD4 have been destroyed, a person s
immune systemhas been greatly weakened that even a simple cold or fever can nearly kill them.
Due to this, the human body cannot counter diseases and illnesses due to the destruction of the
CD4 cells and the weakened state of the immune system.
HIV and AIDS is spread and contracted by humans in a variety of ways. HIV/AIDS is spread when
bodily fluids, such as saliva, breast milk, and blood, are exchanged from human to human. These
body fluids are exchanged through human contact, blood transfers, or sharing medical equipment.
Scientists have discovered that HIV/AIDS is very common among lesbian and homosexual couples;

It falls short on explaining why things like the famine in Ethiopia should have escalated into a
complex emergency the way it did. Ethiopia was ravaged by drought that caused a famine that
killed thousands of citizens in the African nation. Many nations and organizations stepped in to
help but ran into many roadblocks in trying to do so. Due to severe mismanagement of relief funds
and food by the government, those who needed help were not getting it.
The U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), was more concerned as to how to the
government would respond to distributing whatever food was received rather than address the
drought and impending famine. (Keller 615). The FAO even denied the government assistance
in 1981 and 1984, due to projected needs. Even the U.S. delayed responding to the crisis. They
cut food donations from 8,172 metric tons in 1982 to zero in 1984, even though millions were at
risk of dying because of the famine. (Keller 615). This source was proof that even though
international organizations exist, they can experience pitfalls and setbacks that Hannigan does not
address. We have come a long way from the famine in Ethiopia and in 2014; we would not have
responded the way the Reagan administration did. Many people lost their lives

Alcohol and Spiritual Deadlock--John Berryman Essay

about his efforts to recover from alcoholism, Saul Bellows asserts that the act of writing poetry

He would, as he wrote the things he waited and prayed for, fall apart, (Recovery xii). During his

The Dream Songs, as will be discussed, reveal a dark past, a tortured identity, and alcoholic
tendencies that suppress the poet both spiritually and emotionally. Berryman initiates the Dream
Songs with a tone that well befits an alcoholic or one who is inclined towards self destructive
behavior. His narrator, the anonymous speaker, portrays Henry as pouting and resentful is

They could do it made Henry wicked away. But he should have come out and talked.(#1) Henry
is immersed in self pity and incapable of being appeased, content to dwell in his malaise. The
structure of the lines and stanzas also heighten the effect of the sulking. The effect created by the
meter in first two lines is analogous to experiencing the whine of a demanding child (e.g. You can t

firmly rooted in his sulky disposition and will not easily be swayed otherwise. However, the speaker
sympathizes with Henry and understands his resentment, but also recognizes that talking about and
resolving the matter would be the best, most mature course, but there is no resolution. Author
Lewis Hyde states, in regard to the childish tone:

This paper has shown that there is, indeed, a gap in Mexico that needs to be closed. But the
reader might wonder, How did this gap come to exist in the first place? There are multiple
answers to this, but only the three major possible causes will be explored. The first cause deals
with the conditions of the poor citizens. It has been shown that the levels of education, skill,
intelligence, health, and race all provide factors for poverty; there is simply not enough access to
education, and too few job opportunities. The second possible cause of this has to do with
location. Poor areas develop due to a lack of communication and transportation in rural areas.
Because of this, the government has no way to provide food and water, health care, or education.
People that live there are virtually isolated from the rest of society. The third, and most plausible
cause, is the economy and government of Mexico. Institutions interested in decreasing poverty do
not have to the chance to do this, because the government fails to carry out sufficient policies to
encourage positive development. (The Causes of Poverty in Mexico, Eslbee.com) All three of these
causes

America s The Great Melting Pot
America the great melting pot. Some have argued that the melting pot analogy is inaccurate.
Instead America is like a tossed salad. A person can see all the individual ingredients that make up
the salad. People will argue of what can go into a salad and what cannot go into just as people will
argue about the place of certain groups with America. Some find disgust in certain groups of people
and praise other. The situation is dynamic. The way people interact with groups are constantly
changing and morphing due to different influences. Antisemitismis one of the ways people interact
with the tossed salad that is America. Antisemitism in United Statesis on a decline because other
groups are being used as scapegoats instead, Jews are not seen to pose a threat, a strong Holocaust
remembrance, and the hatred of African Americans continues to be the predominate form of hate in
the American context.
The FBI website lays out the numbers. The site has hate crime statistics up to 2014. In 2014 there

Wuthering Heights And Thrushcross Knighte Analysis
Is Wuthering Heights as nice a place as Thrushcross Grange? (BrontГ« 329). That seems to be the
question quickly answered in the start of the novel, Wuthering Heights, by Emily BrontГ«, and the
answer is very clearly: No. In Wuthering Heights, contrast between the two main and unique places,
Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange, helps to define and separate the lifestyles of the main
characters. Wuthering Heightsis distinctively more dark and chaotic and is full of troubles that
make it seem a much darker place, while Thrushcross Grange is a brighter and more peaceful
house. BrontГ« is able to use the two contrasting places to help support the drastically different
character personalities, whether it be troublesome Catherine or her peaceful and calmer husband,
Edgar. The use of the drastically different places, Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange, are
vital to the novel because they offer contrast in the physical houses and define the people living in
them and are meaningful to the novel by providing a deep and drastic connection to each place for
the reader to separate and understand the characters thoroughly.
The difference between Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange is literally like night and day

On satellite dishes, headlights and dish heaters the parabola shape reflects the beams or heat all
in one direction. Skis use the parabolic shape to make turing much easier because all you have
to do is turn the ski on edge and ski turns almost effortlessly. To collect energy the parabolic shape
is used in trough solar panels so all the sun s energy can be directed to a single collecting tube.
The parabolic shape can also create extremely tall structures because the weight is distributed to
the anchors and all the pressure isn t left at the top of the structure, this is shown in arc bridges,
arches like the St. Louis Arch and roller coasters. The single most helpful use of the parabolic
shape is the application in the suspension bridge. The suspension bridge connects previously hard
to reach areas easily, is cost effective and provides strong structure. This is because the parabolic
shape of the ropes transfers the weight of the road or bridge to anchors that hold the weight.
Parabolas are commonly used to make things more convenient and efficient for people around the
world.
The usefulness of parabolas is clearly significant and widespread. They are used in countless things
all over the globe. The suspension bridge presents the parabola in its most useful form, because of
this the Rhino Assassins team decided to construct a model Suspension bridge to exhibit the

The Wireless Channel Is Different And Much More...
The wireless channel is different and much more unpredictable than the wire line channel because
of factors such as multipath and shadow fading, Doppler shift, and time dispersion or delay spread.
These factors are all related to variability introduced by mobility of the user and the wide range of
environmental conditions that are encountered as a result.
(i) Multipath Delay Spread
The multipath delay spread is the time dispersion characteristic of the channel. Each multipath
component is typically associated with different time delay and attenuation. The shortest of which
is the LOS path. The root mean square delay spread in multipath delay is denoted by П„_d and the
maximum spread in frequency due to Doppler shift, f_m.
(ii)Coherence Bandwidth
The coherence bandwidth, is a range of frequencies over which two frequency components have a
strong potential for amplitude correlation, and is used to define whether the channel fading is flat or
frequency selective.
(iii)Coherence Time
The coherence time, T_c describes the expected time duration over which the impulse response of
the channel stays relatively invariant or correlated. The coherence time is approximately inversely
proportional to Doppler spread (Sklar, 1997).
(iv)Admissions Control
A probabilistic admissions control protocol was employed to ensure sufficient transmission time is
reserved to accommodate an estimated number of retransmissions. The transmission time reserved
for retransmissions will vary

Analysis Of John Vargas The Tenth Mile
Real: A Review of John Vargas The Tenth Mile
In action pictures, there was no virtuous side to identify with and nobody you really felt very
good about cheering for. (Kael 113) This forty two year old remark is still true for at least half of
present day action movies; the remaining ones are either about good triumphing over evil or about
dopey loser unlocking inner genius. These movies usually (and perhaps unavoidably) involve
vendettas too bad to be true or masters too good to be true. While I openly distain their outright
unreality and secretly savor their gripping intensity, I am aware of a hope, an expectation, a desire,
deep in my heart, awaiting something with both stylish actions and a realistic plot. The Tenth Mile
perfectly fits that blank space.
Born in America and raised in six different countries, the young avant garde director John Vargas
set out to produce something different. And he did it. The story seems incredibly real and
resonates well with us normal people partly because Vargas based the story largely on his own
experience living and learning martial arts in different countries. There is no dark, dread,
dangerous gang leader, nor old, white, near divine grandmaster. The protagonist Pete Harkin,
played by the action movie icon Mason Grey, is no more than an avid lover of martial arts.
Anyone can be Pete. Anyone can learn martial arts. Convinced by his very first western boxing
master of the Nine Miles to becoming a real martial artist, Pete goes

Notes On The Rhythm Control
2.5.3. Rhythm Control
2.5.1.1. Cardioversion
Usually performed electively, cardioversions are procedures that are performed to convert an
arrhythmia back to sinus rhythm.. There are two types of cardioversions; pharmacological and
electrical.
Pharmacological cardioversions are performed via administering arrhythmia medication to patients
to restore the heart s rhythm to normal sinus rhythm. Pharmacological cardioversions were the
standard cardioversion procedures performed before electrical cardioversion became more
commonly used. Advantages of pharmacological cardioversions are such that the procedure does
not require sedation, (whereas electrical cardioversion does), and the development of new drugs
has made it more of a popular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main risk associated with DC cardioversion is the occurrence of embolic events and cardiac
arrhythmias (Fuster V et al; 2001).
2.5.1.2. Surgical Ablation Cox Maze Procedure
James Cox, along with his colleagues, developed the Cox Maze procedure, (also known as the
Maze procedure) which is an open heart surgical procedure designed to eliminate AF. The procedure
consists of creating conduction barriers within the RA and LA, thus limiting the number of
wavelets able to propagate themselves within the atrial myocardium, thus eliminating AF.
A five year follow up study was conducted to assess whether the Cox Maze procedure was a
viable treatment option for AF patients. The sample size consisted of 75 patients who had
undergone the maze procedure for the treatment of AF. At the end of the five years, 65 patients
had been followed up for three months post procedure. The end result was that the Maze
procedure was successful in treating AF in 98% (n = 64) of the 65 patients followed up. It was
also successful in treating AF without the need for medication in 89% (n = 58), and with the need
for medication in 9% (n = 6) of the total cohort respectively. This therefore proves that the Cox
maze procedure is an effective treatment method for AF patients (Cox JL et al; 1993).
2.5.1.3. Catheter Ablation
As a result of the success of the Cox Maze procedure, catheter ablation strategies were developed in
an attempt to replicate the

Concussions In Football, Footballs And Concussions In The NFL
To entice fans, the NFL implements multiple fantasy football leagues, the NFL Red Zone and
video games such as Madden. This brings a substantial amount of support to the NFL because
they allow the fans to feel like they are a real part of the game and not just part of the audience.
Due to this, the NFL season is made to be one of the most anticipated times of the year for
players, coaches, and especially fans. Sundays are dedicated to football in most American
households. So, it is no surprise that if one player takes a hard hit it is often over looked. In the
2015 football season the total number of reported concussions was 271. This is almost a 32%
increase from the previous year with only 206 reported concussions (Seifert). These numbers do not
account for all the concussions that go unreported and most concussions from this sport go
unreported. Any trauma to the braincan be harmful, but repeated concussions, like those that occur
in the NFL, and concussions without treatment make the symptoms worse. Most NFL players are
suffering but not a lot is being done about it.
News broadcasting stations used to accentuate the violence of the NFL and allowed anyone who
watched their shows to relive the hard hits players took weeks after they happened. [I]n the 1990s,
the ABC network opened its Monday Night Football broadcast with a montage that concluded with
two helmets smashing against each other and bursting into sparks. Turner Network Television
(TNT) promoted its first NFL

New Classics of the Horror Film Genre Essay
Dracula. Frankenstein. Godzilla. These monsters no longer strike fear into the hearts of viewers
as they once did. Formerly the villains of the classic monster movie, these relics, who now
represent all that is archaic in horror film history. The monster movie of the past makes way for
the thriller or slasher movie of the present, while the monster villain gives its role to the deranged,
psychotic serial killer. Friday the 13th series, Nightmare on Elm Street, Copycat and Seven have
become the new classics in the genre of the horrorfilm. With films like The People Under the
Stairs, Nightmare on Elm Street, and New Nightmare, Wes Craven has proven himself to be a
master of the creation of modern horror films.

Liver alone?! When none of the others laugh, Stu s smile fades and he remarks in an incredulous
tone, Liver alone. It was a joke. While Stu s friends may not be able to see past the joke s tactless
nature to its humor, I laugh each time Isee the film again.
Not only do the characters not take themselves seriously, they also don t take horror movies
seriously. A day after the first murders take place, Sidney Prescott receives a cryptic phone call.
However, she is not frightened because she believes the caller to be one of her own friends
Randy, a movie lover, calling to harass her. The mysterious caller asks her why she doesn t like
horror films and she replies, What s the point? They re all the same: some stupid killer stalking
some big breasted girl who can t act and is always running up the stairs when she should be going
out the front door. It s insulting. As an audience member, I realize that this skeptical and often
accurate view of horror movies is a message directly from the film s writer and director (Riptov 86).
Later in the film, when Sidney suggests that the killer might still be on the loose, her best friend
Tatem replies, Don t go there, Sid. You re starting to sound like one of those Wes Carpenter
flicks. As the audience, we get a laugh out of this statement because not only do we know that
Tatem has misnamed Wes Craven, we also know this is a Wes Craven flick. These scenes are like
inside jokes for the viewers;

David Jones isn t just Australia s oldest department store, but also the oldest department store in the
world with the history of 177 years.
He made a brilliant choice of founding store s location on the main road of the new town, opposite
the General Post Office. David Jones received support from not only the Sydney gentry, but also the
country settlers. Everyone gathered to the store to buy buckskins, ginghams, waistcoat fabrics, silks
and cotton tick .(Anon,2015)
David Jones s retirement brought difficulties in to the business and it made him come back to
business with another partner and his son Edward Lloyd Jones managed to recreate the store s
success. Edward Lloyd Jones had travelled widely overseas, and brought back to Sydney new ideas
in retailing, including the European concept of a department store.

The Arrow And The Goat Short Story

Suzanne Collins Owner of all rights to the original story. No profit will be made from this work.
When I wake up the other side of my bed is cold. Prim must of crawled into our mother s bed
seeking warmth in the dark and stormy night. This gives me ample time to get out of bed without
waking her up on this tiring weekend. Well, in District 12 every weekend is a tiring weekend.
District 12 is the coal district, we mine coal from the mines, and send it to other districts and the
Capitol. This means we re also the poorest district in Panem. Coal mining is not a very profitable
occupation. We don t get enough food to survive.
Every day I go to the border that is lined with electric lines.
Sometimes you can hear their buzz, but since we re in district 12 it s usually off most of the time
because of energy shortages. I put my ear close to the lines, it s silent, all you can hear are the
birds and the animals on the other side. A perfect source of food.
The woods are my second home, I learned everything I need to survive in the woods from my dad.
As long as you can find yourself, you will always survive, he used to say. He would of gone
hunting with me today, if he hadn t died in the coal mines. He did leave pieces of himself out in
the woods though, his wooden bows he made for me. I walk to a log and pull it up slightly, there
lies my bow, with a sheath of arrows. I

Regular Expression Of A Web App
Regular Expression To FSM Web App
3.1 Algorithm
3.1.1 Regular Expression Parsing
I built my own parser which will suit the recursive nature of my regular expression to Finite State
Machine Algorithm. To parse the regular expression, first, the expression is converted from infix to
prefix form. To convert from prefix to infix form, the stringis read from the back and on meeting
an operator, it is pushed to an operator stack if top of operator stack has lower precedence than the
read operator else pop it to append to front of output string. If an operand is met, simply append it
to beginning of the output string.
After converting the expression to prefix, second step is to construct expression tree where each
inner node including root node has operator as its value and the leaf nodes are operands. The
entire infix string is read from the end. If the character is an operand it is pushed to the operand
stack else if an operator is read, operands are popped from the operand stack and assigned as left
and right child of node with having the operator as the node value and pushed again into the stack.
Since the backward construction algorithm is recursive in nature, such a syntax tree makes it more
suitable for the algorithm where expression will be taken as input.
3.1.2 Regular Expression To FSM Backward Construction
After converting input expression to prefix and constructing expression tree, next steps is to
implement the Backward Construction algorithm for

Analysis Of Gift From The Sea By Anne Morrow Lindbergh
In Gift from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh, Anne depicts her experiences during her vacation
on a beach. She uses aspects of the beach as metaphors that relates back to humanity. These
personifications can also be related to similarities between humans and the environment.
Throughout the book, there are lessons to be learned from the sea, which are essentially the gifts
from the sea. The narrator uses shells or different features of the beach to describe how humans can
learn from the sea and how the relationship between humans and nature has changed. At the
beginning of Anne s story, she says The sea does not reward those who are too anxious... . She

However due to their disappointment, rations were phasing out of the picture slowly. This was
because as scarce resources were in Australia, in Britain the economy was horrific. Therefore,
Australia sent supplies such as food and other necessities in order to support Britain. The economy
after the war gradually improved despite their support to Britain. With the war finished, Australia
did not need to invest the amount of money into the war productions as they did during the war.
Instead much of the expenses was spent to recover destruction caused by the Darwin bombing in
1942 as well as support to the families that lost their relatives in war. This continued for several
years. In 1947 sugar rationing ended, next meat and clothing ration ending in 1998, followed by
butter and tea rations ending in 1950. Petrol rationing was slowly disappearing in June 1949. But
petrol supplies began decreasing rapidly to many people s dismay, resulting in petrol rationing
returning in November1949. Finally, in February 1950 the petrol rationing was

  • 2. The History of the Iphone The History of the iPhone By selling 8.8 million handsets in the first quarter of 2010, the Apple iPhone has become the most widely sold mobile phone in the US. Read on to peep into the history of this fast selling device. History and Development iPhone s history began when Steve Jobs instructed Apple Inc s top engineers to investigate touch screens and create the iPhone. The development of this device started nearly a decade before it came to the markets in 2007. In 1999, Apple acquired the rights to the domain name iphone.org. Several years later the Apple chief announced that they were opting to invest in advanced mobile handsets. Again in an interview in 2002, Steve Jobs mentioned that Apple was working on a smartphone that would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Criticism The iPhone has been so well received device by the public because it provides innovative and revolutionary technology. But this doesn t imply that it s immune to criticism. It has been openly criticized by consumers and industry professionals for its poor battery life. The JD Power and Associate consumer satisfaction survey gave Apple a low grade on battery life. In response, Apple started replacing the malfunctioning batteries for free. Most recently, consumers have been complaining about the iPhone s antenna problem. The metal bands surrounding the iPhone 4 also act as antennas for reception. When the user grips the phone towards the bottom, it drops the signal. Steve Jobs has responded to this problem by offering free bumper cases to iPhone 4 users. Impact of the iPhone The iPhone is the most innovative phone of all time. It s a trendsetter. Whenever a new iPhone model hits the market, hundreds of buyers stand outside cellular stores waiting for hours to get their hands on the device. It is a remarkable, all in one technological device geared towards the general public and it is still hugely popular. • 3. Essay about America Needs a Larger Gas Tax America Needs a Larger Gas Tax Don t you hate driving up to the gas station to fill up your car with gasoline only to see that the price has risen again. You stand there stunned for a moment. Just long enough for the rage to build up and compell you to go into a frenzy of screaming obsceneties. Yes, it is a scene that happens all across the country, but, I think I can offer some words of advice: Get used to it. You may hate the gas prices now but if I had my way I would raise it a whole dollar more than what it is now. Now before you gouge my eyes out let me explain. Gas prices should go up a dollar for three reasons. First, we need to build a high speed rail system in America. We are long overdue for one and as our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We would keep it tightly regulated and only the upmost security would be kept. A high speed rail system would be a good idea for many reasons. Primarily, it would cut down on the amount of people who drive or fly. In 1997 the government issued a report about how high speed trains would help solve congestion problems that face our nation s highways and airports (www.fra.dot.gov/o/hsgt/index.html). Also, most high speed trains require less fuel than your average airplane or automobile. Money left over form the tax, or if we choose to continue the tax just for this purpose, would be used to help fund research on alternative fuels. They have already made a great many advances with alternative fuels and hybrid cars. Honda has already made a that can travel up to 700 miles on one tank of gas. And it can get up to 70 mpg on the highway (www.consumerenergycenter.org /transportation/afv/hybrid.html). This kind of progress has all been done within the last decade. Imagine with a little extra funding the progress that could be made. Imagine, driving down the road, getting about 100 to 150 mpg. You would no longer have to even worry about gas prices because you would only have to fill up about once a month, which leads me to the next reason why raising gas prices would be a good idea. If we raise gas prices now it ll mean a lot lower prices later on. Simple math will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Sex Trafficking Is A Huge Global Health And Human Rights... By the time you finish reading this paper nearly 23 children around the world will be victims of sex trafficking. Sex trafficking is a huge global health and human rights issue affecting roughly 152 countries around the world (Greenbaum Crawford Jakubiak, 2015). The United Nations describes sex trafficking as the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring, or receipt of persons, by means of the threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, of fraud, of deception, of the abuse of power, or of a position of vulnerability or of the giving or receiving of payments or benefits to achieve the consent of a person having control over another person, for the purpose of exploitation. Exploitation shall include, at a minimum, the exploitation of the prostitution of others or other forms of sexual exploitation, forced labor or services, slavery or practices similar to slavery, servitude, and the removal of organs (Greenbaum, J., Crawford Jakubiak, 2015). The estimated number of victims vary greatly, but are said to range from 600,000 to 2.4 million annually (Miller, 2013), with roughly 100,000 annually just in the United States(Titchen, 2014). According to Miller (2013), the figures 600,000 to 2.4 million is thought to be grossly understated due to secrecy, and misclassification of victims (labeled as criminals and prostitutes, rather than victims). However, in many places in the world right now and in Shakespeare s time, not everyone had this right and were restricted to speak their mind. Except Feste the clown. In Twelfth Night, we can see that the only position that isn t high ranking and were allowed to say what they wanted was a jester (fool). For example, while talking to Olivia, he says The more fool, madonna, to mourn for your brother s soul being in heaven. Take the fool away, gentlemen, which means he is saying that Olivia is stupid for mourning for her brother, something a normal citizen at the time wouldn t have been able to say. From this, is it clear that he uses his profession as a figurative mask to excuse a lot of what he says. Although Feste is a clown, he is one of Shakespeare s ironies meaning that he is very intelligent on the inside, thus a lot of what he says is true. This relates to the Essential Question because many people in real life do/did not have this basic human right. • 8. Inside The Closet Skeletons in the Closet Our first experience of this old English term came about not as secrets in a person s past but in a house! Over the years, we have lived in a variety of old homes that embody the history of many families and diverse activities. Among those homes was an old three story English style rooming house in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan that was owned by the Anglican Theological College of Emmanuel and St. Chad. Shirley and I had a flat on the third floor with four single girls living above us and a single eligible theological professor/Priest below us! Not only were the upper floors busy but we also had a presence living in the basement that from time to time would enter into our community life. Special care was taken by all of us to ensure we did not have a prankster amongst us so we made sure to ascertain that the occurrences were confirmed by more than one person and that they had happened more than one time to different people. Often we would hear the horn on my bicycle give a blast at different times of the day. Something or someone had to squeeze the rubber bulb to force the air through the reed on that horn! During a small dinner party hosted by the professor, the pictures on the wall shifted on their nails, and there was no vibration on the floors from music, dancing, or any kind of enthusiastic activity! • 9. The Federalists And Democratic Republicans From 1789 to 1816, the Federalists and Democratic Republicans approached many problems differently, sometimes however, they had the same solutions to problems which were posed by England and the Native Americans. The Federalists and Democratic Republicans both had different and sometimes similar viewpoints on how to solve the problems they faced during this particular time period. Federalists supported a strong, huge government that had a loose constriction of the constitution. They also supported the National Bank, exercise tax. Also, they thought tariffs should be high, and they believed in an industrial world filled with huge businesses and mass production of goods. However, the Democratic Republicans wanted a more agrarian culture. They did not want a huge government, National bank, excise taxes, and they wanted the tariffs to be low. Some difficulties that the two parties faced were that the British created were impressments of sailors, assisting the Native Americans in war against the United States, and the Orders in Council of 1805. The Native Americans also generated problems for America because they resisted land expansion. Because of their standards and beliefs, this shows how the two parties faced these particular problems that were caused by Britain and the Native Americans. Therefore, the Federalists and Democratic Republicans solved problems differently, but sometimes they had the same idea to work together in order to effectively fix both of the parties ... • 10. The Importance Of Job Related Stress Among Police Officers As a police commander or administrator, addressing the concerns of the officers in your employ, is one of the most important duties that you have. This is especially true when addressing the issues of job related stress. Studies have shown that many police officers perceive the most stress, which they experience, originates from within the department. The studies have also shown that job related stress is a leading cause of cardiovascular disease in policeofficers (Vicini, 2013). With these thoughts in mind, it is imperative for police administrators to have a plan of action in place, to evaluate and validate the concerns of the officers, and to provide the most effective practices to reduce this stress. As an administrator, who officers had confided their concerns to, the first thing that I would needto do would be to evaluate the validity of the officers claims about the stressors which they are dealing with. The first step of this process would be to meet with the officers, in a one on one setting, so that I could evaluate their appearance, mood, level of agitation, and their sincerity concerning the issues which they are bringing forward. This meeting would be a way of showing the officers that I am truly concerned with heir issues, and their wellbeing. Once I have met with the officers, I would move to the next step of the evaluation. For me, the next step in the evaluation process would be to meet with the complaining officers direct supervisors and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is shown in Dr. Bernard Nathanson s film, The Silent Scream, where the first ultrasound of an abortion. The clip reveals an eleven week foetus resting in her mother s womb. Suddenly she is alarmed because of the intruding abortion device and tries to move as far away as she can. Just before her body is torn to pieces and sucked out through the tube, her tiny mouth opens in an unheard scream of fear. After the abortion, the doctor who performed it was invited to watch the ultrasound. Once he had viewed it, he was so upset that he left the room. Ever since that day, he never performed another abortion. Additionally, in a 1997 court case, abortionist Leroy Carhart was asked to explain the procedure of abortion (dilation and evacuation) and then asked if the baby was alive during the process. He said, I know that the foetus is alive because I can see its heartbeat on the ultrasound. Later, he was quoted saying, My intent in every abortion I have ever done is to kill the feotus and terminate the pregnancy. There you have it, straight from the abortionist s mouth: the child is alive when the abortion is performed. Gun Control Under Control Essay Gun Control Under Control Whenever a shooting happens, such Columbine, the Aurora Theater Shooting, or the Navy Yard shooting, the question of gun control comes up in politics again. Then after a month or two, the topic is dropped, until yet another shooting happens. When is this nation going to finally make a change? America needs to put more emphasis on making certain potential criminals and the clinically insane do not have access to such dangerous weapons. The idea of redesigning guns is considered more with public safety due to the larger numbers of gun related deaths (Now 3). What is so hard about making guns safer? If people are not willing to make guns safer, which is obviously the case, then there should be gun controls. . Imagine how many of these accidental deaths could be prevented if guns can be kept out of the hands of children and the careless. According to the NCIPC In 1994, there were 38,505 firearm related deaths. These included: more than 17,800 homicides; more than 18,700 suicides; more than 1,300 unintentional, firearms related deaths related to firearms (Facts 1). Some of the worst crimes are committed with guns. For example, the shooting at Columbine which Americans heard about on the news in 1999. Two teenagers shot and killed twelve students and one teacher at their own school (Facts 1). The boys were later thought to be mentally ill, as with many of the people who commit shooting such as this. Could this have been prevented through gun laws that require stricter background checks and better mental health check ups? • 14. What Is The Idea Of Justice In Frankenstein Under normal circumstances, the monster should not receive justice because he violates socially accepted rules. This makes it easier to disregard Victor s and the other s actions toward him because their actions do not overlook social laws and seem necessary. In turn, the monster becomes less likeable and harder to sympathize with as the narrative continues. However, as the monster brings up in one of his final speeches, society goes against fundamental Christian rules of acceptance and welcoming others by not receiving him. Before his death, the monster asserts Am I to be thought the only criminal, when all human kind sinned against me? Why do you not hate Felix, who drove his friend from the door with contumely? His story and outlook on life highlights the tension between him and society, while synchronously pitting them against one another and bringing them together, thus making it difficult to determine who is truly in the wrong. The monster s predicament highlights how justice is never truly a fair concept because it cannot be equitable for everyone involved; there is inevitably a winner and a loser. Shelley masterfully plays upon this notion, recognizing this holds true for the most basic and extreme situations, illustrating that good and evil are intertwined, making justice incredibly difficult to achieve and oftentimes much closer connected than first thought. The monster s quest for justice brings depth and conflict to the story by underlining that while justice is not always fair, it can be deserved by all. Yet by the Gothic undertones that are present in the story, the tragedy lies in the fact that the monster, though helpless and lonely his entire life, can never have justice as he is doomed to repel it from the moment his life ... America has a youth gang culture that is present in its society. This paper will focus on youth gang membership and it s implication to adolescent development. First to be discussed will be the demographics of adolescents involved in gangs. Then the reasons why youth join gangs and how it is related to their natural development. Next, we will turn to contemplate the implication of gang culture and involvement in America s public school system and the effect on teachers and their classrooms. Finally, we will look into how prevention programs on large and small scale can positively influence gang culture in our education systems. Who in America is members of gangs? According to the National Youth Gang Center in the United States 28,700 youth gangs that involved 780,200 members (Thomas). Gang membership is more likely among males than females and the average age in 18 although it can range anywhere from 10 18. Gangs are more likely in large urban areas, but can range from any size city or town. It s important to note the difference between youth gangs and a deviant youth group. Youth gangs are defined by researchers as distinct group recognized by its members and the community and involved in criminal acts (Thomas 63). The main difference involves the recognition of the gangs in their respected communities. Most of the time gangs will show their membership by different symbols or specific ... Since prostate cancer increases the PSA level as the cancer progresses doctors generally recommend a biopsy if the PSA test comes back abnormally high. When a factor other than prostate cancer causes the PSA level to raise the elevated PSA is called a false positive. A biopsy has risks, such as the risk of infection and the risk of excessive bleeding. Given these two facts some doctors advise that their male patients follow a plan of watchful waiting. If the cancer is already at stage 4 when the diagnosis is made, the patient generally only has a 2 3 year life expectancy. Treatment options for advanced prostate cancer may include hormone therapy, radiation therapy, orchiectomy (the surgical removal of the testicles), and possibly chemotherapy. Treatment will usually cause the PSA to drop significantly. Over time, however, treatment ceases to be effective as the cancer continues to progress. Beyond doubt it would be impossible not to. When people slip up and learn from the outcome, those people are taking part in growing up. Growing up is defined as growing toward physical or mental maturity. Ways to do that is by taking risks and making mistakes. In many cultures making mistakes is a bad thing, especially in today s society. The prefrontal cortex is the front part of the brain; this is where someone s decision making and their personality lies. For an example, Harlow JM first presented the case of Phineas Gage who was accidentally struck by a pointed iron bar projected by an explosion which inflicted massive damage to his frontal lobes, apparently destroying the left orbitomedial PFC, who went on to develop personality changes ( Siddiqui, Chatterjee, Kumar, Siddiqui, Goyal). The prefrontal cortex holds all of the individual s memories, emotional control, verbal expression, and gaze control as well. And JFK believed that after the 1964 election, he would be able to resolve the issue with the CIA by forcing J. The CIA could have kept the true information about the assassination a secret from the public because The justice department s softness on the CIA dates from a 1954 agreement between the two agencies which, in effect, gave the CIA the right to block prosecution or keep a crime a secret in the name of national security (Lane 114) Three years after the report had been issued, President Johnson told his White house staff member and political operative Marvin Watson that he was convinced that there was a plot in connection with the assassination. The British Renaissance Produced Many Types of Literature and Was Influenced By Shakespeare, Marlow, and Spenser The British Renaissance produced many types of literature for the world to see. Shakespeare, Spenser, and Marlowe all contributed to the shaping of the time period. Christopher Marlowe s quot; The Passionate Shepherd to His Love quot; portrays one of the typical love poems that can be seen from the Renaissance. A man is in search of the love of another girl, or woman. In the poem, Marlowe expresses the idea that age has no influence upon love and a person s feelings. The shallow rivers, waterfalls, birds singing, and flowers all personify the Shepherd s feeling that age has nothing to do with love and his hopes of winning the younger girl s heart. The scene that is created is highly discernible as Spring, the time of year associated with love and light heartedness. The allusions to these things also demonstrates the Shepherd s hollow sense of hope. The Shepherd tries to lure the girl by offering her everything in the world. This materialism clearly shows that Marlowe believes that only fancy trinkets and beautiful possessions will win the heart of a girl. In virtually every stanza, there is a reference to a nicety that the Shepherd offers the girl in pursuitof her love. A belt of straw and ivy buds, With coral clasps and amber studs; Christopher Marlowe s Shepherd clearly believes that the only surefire way of attaining love would be to offer as much as you can and lure your subject into a false sense of being loved by giving her (or him) the world. As they understand concepts faster, especially abstract, boredom sets in as the children continuously have to wait for their peers to catch up. Programs need to be made for them, as they are the future. They will aid in the development and continuation of America, far more than the average child. Several methods can be applied to a gifted program to keep the children engaged and their minds simulated. Acceleration and Enrichment are two options, with the accelerated program having the greatest positive feedback. Acceleration allows for the child to learn at a rapid pace, depending on them not their peers, while enrichment is the addition of supplement information or reading (Subotnik). This paper has shown that there is, indeed, a gap in Mexico that needs to be closed. But the reader might wonder, How did this gap come to exist in the first place? There are multiple answers to this, but only the three major possible causes will be explored. The first cause deals with the conditions of the poor citizens. It has been shown that the levels of education, skill, intelligence, health, and race all provide factors for poverty; there is simply not enough access to education, and too few job opportunities. The second possible cause of this has to do with location. Poor areas develop due to a lack of communication and transportation in rural areas. Because of this, the government has no way to provide food and water, health care, or education. People that live there are virtually isolated from the rest of society. The third, and most plausible cause, is the economy and government of Mexico. Institutions interested in decreasing poverty do not have to the chance to do this, because the government fails to carry out sufficient policies to encourage positive development. • 37. America s The Great Melting Pot America the great melting pot. Some have argued that the melting pot analogy is inaccurate. Instead America is like a tossed salad. A person can see all the individual ingredients that make up the salad. People will argue of what can go into a salad and what cannot go into just as people will argue about the place of certain groups with America. Some find disgust in certain groups of people and praise other. The situation is dynamic. The way people interact with groups are constantly changing and morphing due to different influences. Antisemitismis one of the ways people interact with the tossed salad that is America. Antisemitism in United Statesis on a decline because other groups are being used as scapegoats instead, Jews are not seen to pose a threat, a strong Holocaust remembrance, and the hatred of African Americans continues to be the predominate form of hate in the American context. The FBI website lays out the numbers. The site has hate crime statistics up to 2014. In 2014 there were 609 anti Jewish biased hate incidents compared to 1,621 Anti Black or African American incidents. The 609 number is down almost 300 from the 887 Anti Jewish incidents in 2010. Hate Incidents overall decreased from 2010 to 2014. In 2010 there were 6,628 incidents. In 2014 there were 5,479. Although hate crimes overall have decreased, Anti Jewish incidents are decreasing faster in terms of percentage. From 2010 to 2014 Anti Jewish incidents decreased approximately 31 percent. ... • 38. Wuthering Heights And Thrushcross Knighte Analysis Is Wuthering Heights as nice a place as Thrushcross Grange? (BrontГ« 329). That seems to be the question quickly answered in the start of the novel, Wuthering Heights, by Emily BrontГ«, and the answer is very clearly: No. In Wuthering Heights, contrast between the two main and unique places, Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange, helps to define and separate the lifestyles of the main characters. Wuthering Heightsis distinctively more dark and chaotic and is full of troubles that make it seem a much darker place, while Thrushcross Grange is a brighter and more peaceful house. BrontГ« is able to use the two contrasting places to help support the drastically different character personalities, whether it be troublesome Catherine or her peaceful and calmer husband, Edgar. The use of the drastically different places, Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange, are vital to the novel because they offer contrast in the physical houses and define the people living in them and are meaningful to the novel by providing a deep and drastic connection to each place for the reader to separate and understand the characters thoroughly. The difference between Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange is literally like night and day in the sense of drastic environmental differences that lead to a vivid contrast between the two places. As Lockwood first comes upon Wuthering Heights, he was greeted by the dark contrast from the surrounding town of Gimmerton. Wuthering Heights is notably ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They are used in everything from practical items like car headlights to grand iconic landmarks like the eiffel tower, but most importantly they are used in suspension bridges allowing large numbers of people to access new places easily. For these reasons we decided to create a model suspension bridgeto display the usefulness of the bridge and the parabolic shape as a whole. The construction process of our model suspension bridge went smoothly. We designed a blueprint that showed our bridge in a life size scale. The materials used to build our bridge included two 18 inch tall two by fours for the anchoring towers of the suspension bridge, one 30 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On satellite dishes, headlights and dish heaters the parabola shape reflects the beams or heat all in one direction. Skis use the parabolic shape to make turing much easier because all you have to do is turn the ski on edge and ski turns almost effortlessly. To collect energy the parabolic shape is used in trough solar panels so all the sun s energy can be directed to a single collecting tube. The parabolic shape can also create extremely tall structures because the weight is distributed to the anchors and all the pressure isn t left at the top of the structure, this is shown in arc bridges, arches like the St. Louis Arch and roller coasters. The single most helpful use of the parabolic shape is the application in the suspension bridge. The suspension bridge connects previously hard to reach areas easily, is cost effective and provides strong structure. This is because the parabolic shape of the ropes transfers the weight of the road or bridge to anchors that hold the weight. Parabolas are commonly used to make things more convenient and efficient for people around the world. The usefulness of parabolas is clearly significant and widespread. They are used in countless things all over the globe. The suspension bridge presents the parabola in its most useful form, because of this the Rhino Assassins team decided to construct a model Suspension bridge to exhibit the parabola at its ... • 41. The Wireless Channel Is Different And Much More... The wireless channel is different and much more unpredictable than the wire line channel because of factors such as multipath and shadow fading, Doppler shift, and time dispersion or delay spread. These factors are all related to variability introduced by mobility of the user and the wide range of environmental conditions that are encountered as a result. (i) Multipath Delay Spread The multipath delay spread is the time dispersion characteristic of the channel. Each multipath component is typically associated with different time delay and attenuation. The shortest of which is the LOS path. The root mean square delay spread in multipath delay is denoted by П„_d and the maximum spread in frequency due to Doppler shift, f_m. (ii)Coherence Bandwidth The coherence bandwidth, is a range of frequencies over which two frequency components have a strong potential for amplitude correlation, and is used to define whether the channel fading is flat or frequency selective. (iii)Coherence Time The coherence time, T_c describes the expected time duration over which the impulse response of the channel stays relatively invariant or correlated. The coherence time is approximately inversely proportional to Doppler spread (Sklar, 1997). (iv)Admissions Control A probabilistic admissions control protocol was employed to ensure sufficient transmission time is reserved to accommodate an estimated number of retransmissions. • 42. Analysis Of John Vargas The Tenth Mile Real: A Review of John Vargas The Tenth Mile In action pictures, there was no virtuous side to identify with and nobody you really felt very good about cheering for. (Kael 113) This forty two year old remark is still true for at least half of present day action movies; the remaining ones are either about good triumphing over evil or about dopey loser unlocking inner genius. These movies usually (and perhaps unavoidably) involve vendettas too bad to be true or masters too good to be true. While I openly distain their outright unreality and secretly savor their gripping intensity, I am aware of a hope, an expectation, a desire, deep in my heart, awaiting something with both stylish actions and a realistic plot. The Tenth Mile perfectly fits that blank space. Born in America and raised in six different countries, the young avant garde director John Vargas set out to produce something different. And he did it. The story seems incredibly real and resonates well with us normal people partly because Vargas based the story largely on his own experience living and learning martial arts in different countries. There is no dark, dread, dangerous gang leader, nor old, white, near divine grandmaster. The protagonist Pete Harkin, played by the action movie icon Mason Grey, is no more than an avid lover of martial arts. Anyone can be Pete. Anyone can learn martial arts. Surgical Ablation Cox Maze Procedure James Cox, along with his colleagues, developed the Cox Maze procedure, (also known as the Maze procedure) which is an open heart surgical procedure designed to eliminate AF. The procedure consists of creating conduction barriers within the RA and LA, thus limiting the number of wavelets able to propagate themselves within the atrial myocardium, thus eliminating AF. A five year follow up study was conducted to assess whether the Cox Maze procedure was a viable treatment option for AF patients. The sample size consisted of 75 patients who had undergone the maze procedure for the treatment of AF. At the end of the five years, 65 patients had been followed up for three months post procedure. The end result was that the Maze procedure was successful in treating AF in 98% (n = 64) of the 65 patients followed up. It was also successful in treating AF without the need for medication in 89% (n = 58), and with the need for medication in 9% (n = 6) of the total cohort respectively. This therefore proves that the Cox maze procedure is an effective treatment method for AF patients (Cox JL et al; 1993). 2.5.1.3. This brings a substantial amount of support to the NFL because they allow the fans to feel like they are a real part of the game and not just part of the audience. Due to this, the NFL season is made to be one of the most anticipated times of the year for players, coaches, and especially fans. Sundays are dedicated to football in most American households. So, it is no surprise that if one player takes a hard hit it is often over looked. In the 2015 football season the total number of reported concussions was 271. This is almost a 32% increase from the previous year with only 206 reported concussions (Seifert). These numbers do not account for all the concussions that go unreported and most concussions from this sport go unreported. Any trauma to the braincan be harmful, but repeated concussions, like those that occur in the NFL, and concussions without treatment make the symptoms worse. Most NFL players are suffering but not a lot is being done about it. • 50. Regular Expression Of A Web App Regular Expression To FSM Web App 3.1 Algorithm 3.1.1 Regular Expression Parsing I built my own parser which will suit the recursive nature of my regular expression to Finite State Machine Algorithm. To parse the regular expression, first, the expression is converted from infix to prefix form. To convert from prefix to infix form, the stringis read from the back and on meeting an operator, it is pushed to an operator stack if top of operator stack has lower precedence than the read operator else pop it to append to front of output string. If an operand is met, simply append it to beginning of the output string. After converting the expression to prefix, second step is to construct expression tree where each inner node including root node has operator as its value and the leaf nodes are operands. The entire infix string is read from the end. If the character is an operand it is pushed to the operand stack else if an operator is read, operands are popped from the operand stack and assigned as left and right child of node with having the operator as the node value and pushed again into the stack. Since the backward construction algorithm is recursive in nature, such a syntax tree makes it more suitable for the algorithm where expression will be taken as input. 3.1.2 Regular Expression To FSM Backward Construction After converting input expression to prefix and constructing expression tree, next steps is to implement the Backward Construction algorithm for ...
