The Impact Of Rapid Population Growth On Brazil s Economy
Population Growth in Brazil
1. The impact of impact of rapid population growth on Brazil s economy.
a. Rapid Human Population Growth
Population growth is the change in population over a given period of time. Research suggests that the
world s poorest countries have faster population grows. Historically, high fertility rates strongly
correlate with poverty. Brazil is estimated to have a population of 203 million people. Brazil s
population is expected to grow to 203 million to 226 million people by year 2050. In the 1970 Brazil
was facing rapid population growth and a food shortage. Research shows that Brazil is the third largest
agricultural producer in the world.

Brazil was one of the fastest growing major economies in the world surpassing that of the United
Kingdom. Brazil s economic growth has however decelerated in 2013 and had almost no liquid
growth throughout 2014. Brazil s economy is expected to grow by only 1.8% in 2015.
Brazil is thought to be one of the fastest growing economies in the Americas. On the world s stage
Brazil is currently the third largest agricultural producing country. The country produces roughly 150
million tons of grains and oilseeds; and thirteen million tons of meat annually.
It should be noted that the Brazilian agriculture has not always been a thriving sector. The country s
increased population growth also elevated the need for food. The elevated need for food created a gap
between what was needed and what was produced. However, in 1972, the Brazilian Agricultural
Research Corporation, better known as Embrapa, was created with the goal being to develop
agriculture in the country through the generation and transfer of knowledge from scientists to farmers.
In today s market, food is Brazil s major export. Brazil s beef and pork supply have multiplied four
times in the past 35 years. In the same period, milk production rose from 2.1 billion gallons per year to
7.03 billion gallons, and the production of vegetables rose from 9 million tons to 19.3 million tons

Identifying The Identity Of Two Unknown Metals Essay
Introduction
It is necessary to identify the identity of two unknown metals. This is important because a metal scrap
yard must know the identities of the metals before they can be recycled. It is also necessary to know
what each metal is if a building is to be made using one or more of these metals. Identifying the metals
will be done using intensive properties. Intensive properties do not depend on the amount of material
present. Density is an intensive property found with the formula D=m/v. Which is defined as mass
divided by volume to find the density.
Procedure
First, each metal s description and weight was recorded. Additionally, the weights of each cylinder
used was recorded. Next, a graduated cylinder was filled with 20mL of water and unknown metal II
was fully submerged in the water 3 times. Each time, the volumes were recorded and the difference
between the final volume and initial volume was calculated. This test was repeated for unknown metal
IV.
Calculations
Unknown I and V Masses
Unknown I was weighed 3 times in a graduated cylinder with 20 mL of water in it. Weight 1 came out
at 215.672g, weight 2 came out at 216.135g, and weight 3 came out at 216.362g. Averaging the
weights gave 216.056g.
Unknown V s weights came out at 74.065g, 74.623g, and 74.538g. Averaging the 3 weights yielded
74.589g.
Unknown I and V Volumes
Unknown I s 3 volume measurements came out to be 26.26 mL, 26.25mL, and 26.02mL. Averaging
these volumes yields 26.15mL.
Unknown V s 3volume

Shiro Azuma s Visit To The Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall
To the Past I used to admire my father, who came to United States with my mother and me with
almost no understanding of English, but is still hopeful about the new life. He is always the first one
who stands up for me and courage me to face to the challenges, and I always think that he is the only
one who can listen to my view and give me advice sincerely, until I visited the Nanjing Massacre
Memorial Hall with him, I found that we consider our history in two completely different ways. The
Memorial Hall is far away from the hotel we stayed, it took us approximately forty minutes to get
there. However, this is worth it. I like history, and the visiting of Memorial Hall is one of the most
important reason of why I want to spend the great summer holiday in this unfamiliar city. Surprisingly,

I was shocked by a Japanese man named Shiro Azuma, a Japanese soldier who had attend the

Diary of Shiro Azuma. He came to Nanjing during his lifetime to apologize for the atrocity he had do
to this city. However, he was accused by groups of Japanese people about some description in his
diary, and he was die before he successfully prove that all the stories in his diary are true.
After my father and me finished the visiting of the hall, instead of went to the ruins, my father found a

Truck Culture of Pakistan
1. Truck Culture of Pakistan:
Art in any form is joy to the eyes. In Pakistan there is this great art (known as Truck Art) which has
captured the imagination of tourists and art lovers from all over the globe. Its not cheap, it s not easy
but a truck owner without a truck art is not acceptable in the Truck Drivers fraternity.
1.1 History of Vehicle Painting in Pakistan
The extraordinary tradition of decorating trucks has its roots in the days of the British Raj when
craftsmen made glorious horse drawn carriages for the gentry. The 1920s the Kohistan Bus Company
asked the master craftsman Ustad Elahi Bakhsh to decorate their buses to attract passengers. Bukhsh

technological motifs like airports and trains can also be found.
Two basic types of paintings can be distinguished in the way the truck sides are done. The first is
simple painting , which is basically a picture on each segment on the sides with some additional
ornaments. The second type, which leaves no square inch uncovered, is the Disco Painting . These
disco trucks are the real master pieces. Every time you look at them, you discover new images and
decorations. But whether simple or disco , the paintings on the sides are never identical, and not only
because the name of the owing company is written in Urdu on one side and in Roman on the other.

Essay on Disney s Medievalesque Sleeping Beauty
Disney s Medievalesque Sleeping Beauty
It was not once upon a time, but in a certain time in history, before anyone knew what was happening,
Walt Disney cast a spell on the fairy tale. He did not use a magic wand or demonic powers. On the
contrary, Disney employed the most up to date technological means and used his own American grit
and ingenuity to appropriate European fairy tales. His technical skills and ideological proclivities were
so consummate that his signature obfuscated the names of Charles Perrault, the Brothers Grimm, Hans
Christian Andersen, and Collodi. If children or adults think of the great classical fairy tales today, be it
Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, or Cinderella, they will think Walt Disney.

(Zipes 141). While well versed in Disney s ability to produce socio cultural stagnancy, work such as
that done by Zipes, Byrne and McQuillan do not address the specific ways in which Disney
perpetuates particular socio economic myths with its fairy tale appropriations. While work is currently
being done on how Disney s theme parks play upon socio economic conservatism, and the 1970 s saw
a key text in Ariel Dorfman and Armand Mattelart s How to Read Donald Duck: Imperialist Ideology
in the Disney Comic, Disney s animated fairy tales, especially the earlier ones, have long been
neglected and are all due for a serious reading in terms of the socio economic messages they implicitly
convey to their audience. In a paper of this size I neither wish to criticize scholars for neglecting this
area, nor do I hope to remedy this problem in one blow. Instead this paper will examine the particular
ways in which Disney uses the medium of animation in order to incorporate the medieval into his
adaptation of Sleeping Beauty, as well as the very pointed anachronistic exceptions it makes to this
medievalesque trend. I will then analyze how these particular implementations of the medieval, as
well as the exceptions, serve to create a fantastic feeling of nostalgia for a

The Biological Of Sexual Orientation
The Biological Correlates of Sexual Orientation
Prof. Brett Beston

The topic of sexual orientation is both sensitive and controversial. This is evident in events, such as
the Pride Parade, and also in media, where authoritative figures preach against it and speak of its
sinful nature (Emmanuele, Blanchard, Camperio Ciani, Bancroft, 2010). Sexual orientation exists in
various forms, it differs in the way it is viewed by different cultures, and researchers propose different
perspectives to explain the emergence of an individual s sexual orientation. In the discourse of sexual
orientation, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A pattern emerges where the scholarly literature exploring this topic is largely focused on males.
Reason being is that it appears that males are the sex who are predominantly homosexual in their
orientation (LeVay Baldwin, 2012). However, the sensitivity within the discourse of sexual orientation
arises when it is debated upon whether one s sexual preference is innate at birth, hence a force of
nature or biology, or if it is a result of culture, nurture or environmental factors (Emmanuele et al.,
2010). Furthermore, an experimental design will be proposed to further examine this topic. Comparing
the three chosen studies, it is evident that a biological and endocrinological perspective does account
for sexual orientation (Kraemer et al., 2006; Manning et al., 2007; Miller et al., 2008). Of the studies
that currently exist on this topic, data shows that prenatal testosterone levels are indicative of sexual
orientation (Kraemer et al., 2006; Manning et al., 2007; Miller et al., 2008). This paper addresses a
topic that is relevant in today s society; a topic that has, for the most part, been written off as having
any scientific roots (Emmanuele et al., 2010). This paper counters that belief and in reading this essay,
it will be evident that biology and endocrinology have a much stronger influence on sexual orientation
than previously thought. Kraemer et al. (2006) conducted a study based on scientifically proven
knowledge

Poetic Analysis Of The Song Graceland By Paul Simon
Poetic Analysis of Paul Simon s Graceland In the realm of music, words and melodies work together
in order to form a complete idea of an artist s work. However, by abandoning the melodies and
reading closely into the lyrics of a song, readers are able to draw meaning and make observations from
the text that could be overshadowed by its melodies. A fine example of a song where this method is
applicable is Paul Simon s Graceland. Examining the lyrics reveals the story of a man making a
pilgrimage to Elvis Presley s Graceland estate in Memphis, Tennessee in the same way a religious
person would journey to a holy site. Through usage of imagery, tone, and metaphorical devices
throughout allow this song to function as a comically surreal poem. ... Show more content on

His repetition of where he is going emphasizes its significance to him, similar to the way someone
would repeat something in a conversation to emphasize its importance: I m going to Graceland!
Graceland! Memphis, Tennessee! Graceland is described as a place welcoming of people from
different walks of life, indicated by, Poorboys and Pilgrims with families / And we are going to
Graceland, (10 11). Here, the comically surreal notion of Graceland as a holy site is introduced with
tourists making pilgrimages to the estate with their families, with the hopes that they will take
something morally significant away from their journey. The narrator then reveals that, as a pilgrim to
Graceland, he too has a family he brings with him, My travelling companion is nine years old / He is
the child of my first marriage, (12 13). The diction here is indicative that the narrator is no longer in a
relationship with the child s mother, leaning towards the possibility that the narrator hopes to rekindle
a relationship with the child through their pilgrimage to Graceland, or that he is raising the child on his
own and sharing a road trip with him. He then says, But I ve reason to believe / We both will be
received / In Graceland, creating a hopeful tone sonically through the rhymes of believe and receive ,
which is contradicted by the ambiguous diction which alludes to the possibility that they could not be
received in Graceland

The History of Human Rights in Canada throughout the 20th...
Canada is perceived by other nations as a peace loving and good natured nation that values the rights
of the individual above all else. This commonly held belief is a perception that has only come around
as of late, and upon digging through Canadian history it quickly becomes obvious that this is not the
truth. Canadian history is polluted with numerous events upon which the idea that Canada is a role
model for Human Rights shows to be false. An extreme example of this disregard for Human Rights
takes place at the beginning of the twentieth century, which is the excessive prejudice and
preconceived notions that were held as truths against immigrants attempting to enter Canada. Another
prime example of these prejudices and improper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Canadian government perpetuated the stereotype and racism that all Chinese were used to; by
removing their right to vote, even as full citizens they were unable to elect a political party that
embodied their goals. Also in an attempt to strengthen the racist views the Canadian government
segregated Oriental school children from Canadian school children, by only allowing those born in
Canada to attend public school. This act of segregation draws a parallel to black segregation and truly
shows how significant this hate had become. This hate destroyed many lives and set the acceptance of
the Chinese heritage and culture back by decades; which later became important when we wished to
create an alliance with China. In 1907 these racist views erupted into full scale destruction as over
7000 Canadians pillaged Chinatown ; breaking all the store windows while mass looting occurred.
Even after this horrendous rampage the government continued its views of the Chinese and passed
into legislation a Chinese Immigration Act in 1923. This act prevented all Chinese from entering the
country, including those with family already within Canada. This act is shown to be significant to both
Canadian and Chinese history as it demonstrates that Canada wished to thin their population of
Chinese citizens. It also shows that many, if not all, of Canada and its citizens, shared these racist
views. Overall these racist views continued on throughout the first half of the twentieth

Persuasive Speech Outline On Mental Illness
Kaylee Gorbet Persuasive Speech Preparation Outline Destigmatizing Mental Illness Specific
Purpose: Persuade my audience to take steps to realize the truth behind mental illnesses instead of
listening to the stigmas. Central Idea: I am going to be talking about the stigmas associated with
mental illness and what we can do to decrease this stigma. Introduction I. There is an illness that is
different from any other illness or disease that we know of. This illness has few, if any, outward
physical symptoms. Most of the time, we cannot tell that a person has this illness just by looking at
them. The illness I am talking about is mental illness; I am able to say that I have been affected by my
father s mental illnesses. II. Today, I am going to be talking to you about the stigmas associated with
mental illness and what we can do to decrease this stigma. III. Depression, generalized anxiety
disorder, eating disorders, etc are more common than one might realize, but they often go unnoticed
because of these stigmas. First, I will define mental illness and give you some statistics about mental
illness. Second, I will define stigma and tell you about the ways mentally ill people have been
stigmatized both in the past and today and why. Finally, I will tell you about some laws that attempt to
decrease stigma in the work place and offer suggestions as to how to further decrease stigma.
Transition: In order to understand what mental illness is, it is helpful to have an operational definition
of the term. Body I. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) states that mental illnesses can

Health As Being Mentally And Physically Content With One...
There are those who want to become a doctor to keep others healthy and those who want to become a
counsellor to also, keep others healthy. This shows that trying to simplify the term health into one
universal definition could be a difficult task. Physical health that can be tested through x rays and
blood tests, issues such as mental and social health however cannot be tested. A person who is
suffering from depression and a person who has a fever should hold the same level of importance to a
doctor, parent and society. Health just like people can come in all different shapes and sizes. Health
for everyone is not the same. This is shown in different teachings of different disciplines as well. The
author defines health as being mentally and physically content with one s self. Philosophy is a study of
problems, which are ultimate, abstract and very general. These problems are concerned with the nature
of existence, knowledge, morality, reason and human purpose (Teichmann Evans, 1999, p.1). Famous
philosophers such as Plato, Aristotle and Karl Marx all shared one common goal, which was to find
the truth in certain human pneumonias. Philosophy is all about the truth of things. The philosophical
understanding of public health consist of controversial ethical, political and social issues, including
those related to vaccinations, the threat of pandemics and possible restrictions to individual liberties,
public health research, screening and obesity policy (Dawson, 2008,

The Learning Environment Of For Online Instruction
Introduction . This writer will critique methodologies used by scholar practitioners and compose
responses identifying best practices in educational research. In reviewing the research for these five
empirical articles, this writer identified pertinent scholarly articles that dealt with social constructivism
and eLearning. In all of the articles, the authors placed great emphasis upon the learner centered
approach. From the gleanings of the information researched, it is what we (practitioners) do with the
information, and how we as (learners) construct knowledge that is relevant and important to
eLearning. Some of the Best Practices that are considered priority practices are installing the correct

The administrators of the Malaysian School System emphasized the importance of each learner being
able to use the computer in a very practical way. The study purported a quantitative study of students
from ten selected schools within ten different states to measure the students degree of computer
literacy. The Malaysian School System administrators wanted to increase English fluency as a primary
objective of the study. The findings from the study showed the statistics of the stakeholders who were
participating and the growth of their participation. It is significant to note that this study was one of a
few research studies that had been conducted concerning the Malaysian School System. There were
seven high schools and three primary schools participating in this quantitative study. Out of a total of
608 students, 304 were chosen to participate in the Constructivism Learning Environment
Questionnaire (CLEQ) survey (Woods, Koo, 2011). This study was a major undertaking for the
Malaysian School System and the objectives were the investigation of constructivist learning
environments, detection of computer literacy, and the involvement of all stakeholders namely,
administrators, teachers, and students who could use multimedia platforms such as laptops, and CD

Applying mechanism to ensure that the service level agreement is met.
2. Analysis and specification
2.1 Initial condition
Channel 4 has two studios located in Sydney and Melbourne and four free to air television channels
(channel4, C4forKids, WOW and QTV). In addition, channel 4 has three types of video contents:
InProd content is edited by Channel 4 and finished product is sent as SDI streams to be stored in the
digital media center, via Studio Router.
ExProd content is provided to Channel4 on solid state media as a digitized video file. These files are
stored in the Digital Media center until required.
Live Video Feed is live news and programs to broadcast directly to Australia.
The existing Studio Router takes SDI/ASI input and assign it to many outputs such as MPEG Encoder,
Video output, Satellite Uplink or Digital Video Network (DVN) to Media Hub.
There are three DVN that transfer MPEG Encoded videos either from Digital Media Center or live
Video from a News Studio to the Media Hub (Figure 1).

Implementing A New Program That Will Benefit An Industry
Implementing a new program that will benefit an industry takes investors, time, money and a planning
committee to ensure that the proper regulations is selected for the right. It also ensures that the best
processes that are in place will benefit the business at its appropriate time. In health care the demands
for modification and adjustment comes often to benefit the overall care for the patient. In today s
society, technology has thrust its way into the forefront of medicine and its demand has become high,
causing it to be an important factor in healthcare (Palvia Thambusamy, 2013).
Implementing Best Practices
When implementing ways to eliminate medication errors are impossible, however best practices
should be applied to avoid as many concerns or issues that could present itself. Through research there
are many approaches that have been found to support the reduction of medication errors. The first
areas to review was the way that medication orders are written, too many times medication orders are
left to facilities with non licensed nurses transcribe orders or to receive a verbal order from the
physician s office, sometimes written prescription are also faxed. When orders are received the staff
member should verify the order with the physician s office or have the office to escript the
prescription directly to the pharmacy. Therefore if the order is incorrect, then the pharmacist who is
licensed can obtain the correct order for the facility, it then can be sent to

The Implications Of Genetically Engineered Foods
Genetically engineered foods are defined as foods that have had genes from other animals or plants
(hereby referred to as foreign genes) added onto their genetic codes. The genetic engineering
technique can be employed on animals, plants, or on such microorganisms as bacteria (NIH). The
question of whether foods derived from such organisms should be approved for human consumption is
what has raised widespread controversy among many circles. There are those who view GM foods as
the ultimate solution to major challenges of the 21st century while others see them as a threat to
human health and the environment. Notably, the global society is facing major challenges key among
them being food insecurity and environmental issues such as global warming and climate change.
Genetically engineered foods present a potential solution to these challenges. This paper will argue
that with adequate research and regulation, genetically engineered foods should be approved owing to
the benefits they present in terms of increased food production and quality, as well as eliminating the
need to compromise the environment in the pursuit of more cultivation land and higher crop yield.
In my view, we certainly need genetically engineered foods to fight food insecurity that characterizes
the global society. A look at related statistics denotes a population that is facing serious food security
challenges. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), an estimated 795 million

A gender role is a set of expectations dictating the types of behaviors, which are generally considered
acceptable, appropriate, or desirable for people based on their actual or perceived sex or sexuality.
Theories of gender role development can be further explained by Bandura s social learning theory and
Kohlberg s cognitive development theory. Bandura believed we learned gender roles by modeling the
actions of those in our environment. Watching, learning, and the imitation of others each describe
Babdura s social learning Theory. Kohlberg s cognitive development describes gender roles in three
stages preconvention, conventional, and post conventional.
#2Growing up with siblings of the same or opposite sex also affects gender typing. Living at home
with three older brothers was tough. Many of the activities I participated in were rarely ever gender
appropriate. With mixed gender in the household, we were assigned to do cross gender chores. The
boys usually always took out the trash, but we all worked together around the house to get things
done.
#3 While children are growing up, gender roles are highly defined by parents and teachers as well as
societal influences. Boys were taught to do boy things and girls are often taught to do girl things.
However, it is sometimes an uphill battle when these stereotypes are maintained by what children
encounter outside school, through the media, their own families or other influences of society.
Stereotyped ideas about what s suitable for boys or girls can limit children s opportunities to learn and
develop. Teachers can help create an environment that encourages children to think of themselves as
individuals, rather than editing their choices through a gender

Negative Effects Of Imperialism
Imperialism was an extremely big deal throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. There were
many occurrences where people who were involved in imperialism would succeed, but there were also
failures. Throughout this time period, powers from Europe, the United States and Japan all contributed
to both the positive and negative impacts of imperialism. These impacts affected parts of Africa, Asia,
and Latin America. Some of the few people that made huge changes during the Age of Imperialism are
Dadabha Naoroji, J.A. Hobson, Mary Kingsley, Edgar Canisius, Albert Beveridge, and Rudyard
Kipling.
Dadabha Naoroji was involved in many things but one of the most important was that he was a
founder of the Indian National Congress. The Indian National Congress was a political organization
that led efforts for independence and is a major political platform in India. During Naoroji s
involvement in politics, he became the first Indian member of the House of Commons. While in
office, Naoroji attempted to improve Britain s policies toward India and eventually succeeded. He
wanted many things for the British rule such as the abolition of practicing widow burning, to
emphasize the importance of education, and he also wanted the development of railways and
irrigation. Naoroji goes on to say that he succeeded in almost all of these things and that the British
accepted them, making the impact of imperialism positive. In this situation, the colonizer and the
colonized both

Crossed by Ally Condie carries on explaining Cassia s story. This time, Ally Condie expanded on her
love life and the journey to the rising. She has also brought in Cassia s Grandfather even though he is
dead. In Crossed, Ally Condie added multiple points of view making you see more of the story. From
this, it caused a more complex theme. Personally, I think the theme is, the story teaches us not only
about love but, also about taking a risk when your gut or heart knows it is right. Additionally, the story
is about individuality, relationships, and survival, and altogether it is about romance (such as the love

Financial services differ greatly depending upon where you are at. Different countries have different
currencies, markets, laws, and accounting practices to list a few. Because of this most financial
institutions use a similar organizational structure. Goldman Sachs breaks their operations into four
segments: Institutional client services, investment management, investment banking, and investment
and lending (GS).
Institutional Client Services
They have a global structure to ensure satisfaction with strategic and financing needs of clients around
the world. In the institutional client services segment they facilitate client transactions and make
markets in fixed income, equity, currency and commodity products primarily with institutional clients
(GS). In addition to this they make markets and clear client transactions on major stock options and
futures exchanges worldwide, provide financing, securities lending and prime brokerage services
(GS). Although revenues from these activities are decreasing it is still by far the greatest source of
their revenue (GS).

How Is Contemporary America A Better Society
The United States is worldwide known as The Great Melting Pot a country that accepts and respects
people no matter their race and origin. But in reality, America has been struggling with racism
throughout it s history. Studies show that about half of Americans believe that racism is still a big
problem in our society. But despite this, racism has improved over the years. Contemporary America
is a better society in terms of discrimination than it was in the 1960 s. In the 60 s racism was so severe
that African Americans had to face racial segregation, white supremacy and unequal opportunities. In
saved by Malcom X, Malcom depicts his view on racism in the 60 s as his hatred for white people
grows as he learns more about African American History and the horrors that white people have done
throughout history.
Contemporary America is a better place to live than it was in the 1960 s. The USA has improved a lot
since the civil rights movement. In todays society, African Americans are given equal rights as white
Americans and racism seems to be fading away as the years pass and our society becomes more and
more accepting of diversity. African Americans between ages now believe that it s easier for them to
achieve the American Dream than it was for their parents. We can see this by the fact that more and
more African Americans are going to college and becoming successful. President Obama is an
example of this. The fact that we have an African American president shows that our

This scene is one of the most important, if not the most important scene of the book because it starts a
chain reaction to the rest of the story. Finding out that Clea went missing shows what Cody s
personality is and what he will do to try and find her. The author has suspensefully expanded the
moment in this key scene to have an effect on the reader. The author wrote, Something that got his
heart beating fast, something, in fact, that woke him up and made him feel alive, as though he d been
in hibernation. Alive, but not in a good way: What Cody saw on the front page of the Guardian was a
photograph of Clea. Over it, a big black headline read: Local Girl Missing (81). This quote illustrates
the craft move by expanding the moment of when Cody read the article about Clea, showing his
emotions and what is going in his mind at the time. It also adds suspense because as the reader reads
the key scene, the reader does not know what is going on and sees what Cody s reaction is. The author
s goal through using this technique is to make the readers feel what Cody is feeling and try to step in
his shoes during this heart breaking scene in the

Essay about Teaching Morality
Teaching Morality
In The Night is Dark and I am Far From Home, Jonathan Kozol writes that The first goal and primary
function of the U.S. public school is not to educate good people, but good citizens. (1). He implies that
the public school has no function but to turn out people who will vote, pay their taxes, and follow the
nations laws without protest. If this is so, and I believe that it is, should the philosophy of the public
school system be changed to produce morally upright individuals? I believe that schools should try to
produce the best people they can. Many people argue that morals should be taught at home, but that
isn t good enough. Some say that good citizens make good people, but I say that that isn t the case.
Many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Still, a back up plan is needed. So the question remains: if parents aren t available or able, to make
sure that their children grow up with a good strong moral foundation, who will?
The only answer that truly makes sense is school. For six hours a day, five days a week, 180 days a
year, children are forced to spend their time in a classroom. Teachers are with their students sometimes
more than the children s parents are. These adults that are entrusted with the education of our youth
during their most formative years are in a position to exert a tremendous influence. We should take
advantage of that, not shun it.
Some people argue that if schooling teaches a child how to be a good citizen, then being a good
person will take care of itself, as if good citizenship begets a good person. This isn t necessarily the
truth.
The rougher kids called him a pinko, hippie, garbage, Communist, or faggot. (Kozol, 129)During
much of my high school career, while I was never called anything like that, I was not very popular. I
had friends who I was very close to, but I was never one of the people in the midst of the social whirl
that can be found at any high school. I didn t go to parties, I seldom, if ever, went out on dates, and the
only time that I mixed with the popular crowd was in class, if we had group work.

Different Situations Where Skills By Social Workers Are...
This essay will be discussing two different situations where skills by social workers are needed when
working with groups. I will define the term group and will be reflecting on my own experiences of
working within groups and what I have observed in regards to individuals, behaviours and group
dynamics. My examples are drawn from two particular situations where I have been involved, which
include a multi professional meeting and residential home for children with disabilities. I will be
drawing on knowledge from K216 materials and other sources.
A definition of group according to the Oxford Dictionary of Social Work and Social Care (2013) is a
number of individuals with a shared sense of identity and/or who are bound together by interaction
with each other . Groups may be categorised into sub groups such as: social group, interest group,
family group or task group. People may be members of these different groups; however, their choice
of membership may be unavoidable, voluntary or limited. For example, attending school is
compulsory for young people and therefore the school group is regarded as a formal group . Whereas
they are at liberty to choose their friendship group within the school, therefore this is considered an
informal group (Adams, 1993, p.309 ).
The first group situation I will discuss is a multi professional meeting. The meeting was one I
observed which gave me the opportunity to identify group challenges and skills. The meeting was an

Democracy And Violent Civil Conflict
Democracy and violent civil conflict
Democracy is believed to have a pacifying power. With electoral processes, the rule of law and
freedom from state oppression it makes sense that the populations has enough avenues to express
grievances without resorting to full scale civil violence. Democracy beyond mutual democratic
pacifism would thus have an impact on internal civil relations positively but this is not the case. There
have been an increased number of cases of civil and ethnic violence in government systems that we
might consider to be in stages of democratization. Evidence would seem to suggest that there are
greater levels of violent civil conflict in these sort of regimes as opposed to full blown dictatorships or
democracies. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Hypothesis.
There are two major hypothesis in this paper
i. Pseudo democracies have greater levels of civil violence than do democracies ii. Pseudo
democracies have greater levels of civil violence than autocracies.
Theory
I argue that this could be as a result of a number of reasons, while an autocratic government might be
able to use force to keep the population under tight control, a weak democracy with its relative
political and civil freedoms is likely to bring strife as soon as institutions are not functional and
transparent enough. Ethnic groups, religious groups or party faithful soon take to violence when the
institutions in place is not trusted either due to incapacity or lack of transparency and since the citizens
now have a voice and might not be exposed to the dangers of brutal crackdowns they soon are
exposed to strife that soon become violent. This might be due to introduction of unpopular or
controversial laws, dissatisfaction with government performance or suspicion of government s actions.
Competitive elections presents a whole new avenue for disagreement and where the representatives
are disconnected from the electorate, they turn to violent conflict as a route to voice grievances with
less fear of extreme crackdown by the government. The problem is that most often what would start as
a peaceful demonstration explodes into an all out riot with

Catastrophism And Uniformitarianism In Dating Earth
There can be many different views when we define the words of catastrophism and uniformitarianism.
They can be seen in many diverse ways from person to person. In the article Dating Earth, it
mentioned the background of the concept of uniformitarianism and catastrophism. People who had
biblical views were considered catastrophists and were known scientists who invoked supernatural
causes. Uniformitarianism is a concept that is viewed as gradual constant change, or no change at all.
This view can be debatable with catastrophism which is sudden or immediate change because a small
change over time that seems so constant can feel sudden at the same time. It depends how you view it
and see the picture in our histories time lapse. When we define constant we view it as a nice even
flow, but sometimes the flow can be higher at times and lower which can equal to the even gradual
concept of uniformitarianism while it can be viewed as a catastrophic event too because if we think
about the butterfly effect that small sudden change can be so unique and make big changes even
though it seemed small and equal like uniformitarianism. The Butterfly Effect mentioned how Lorenz
made a small change to his systems of equations which proved to be catastrophic even though the
numbers seemed very small to even make a difference. When we view uniformitarianism and
catastrophism they can both be true in context, but if you view it in a diverse way to include the small

Life in Colonial America
During colonial times life would not have been anything like it is today. They would not have a cell
phone, computer or a global positioning system. The family would wake up to begin their day with
chores depending on their sex, location, age and, the families social class. Families were large for
various reasons help on the farm, most children died before the age of five. Childbirth was extremely
dangerous for women of the day. Doctors did not deliver infants. That job belonged to midwives.
Today women would have an epidural for pain. Back then woman would bite a stick or follow the old
wives tales such as placing a knife under the bed to cut the pain. After the birth, depending on the
family s wealth, they would feast to help the mother regain her strength. The mother would rest for
three to four weeks before returning to her duties as a wife and mother. Someone from a lower social
standing would only rest two or three days at most before returning to her daily work. The infant
would be dressed in swaddling gowns then later in dresses. Infants and toddlers would wear dresses
and long gowns until the age of five regardless of their sex. At the age of five, girls would begin
learning how to cook and sew among other household chores. Boys would also begin chores,
following their father and other men s example around the farm. If they came from a wealthy family,
then a tutor would teach the child. Females who were highly educated had a difficult time

The O 1 Bird Dog Essay
The O 1 Bird Dog The First World War clearly demonstrated that airplanes had a promising career in
warfare. With rapid development creating larger, faster and more capable aircraft the task of putting
their munitions on target became increasingly complex and called for a new type of control. In March
of 1942 FM 31 35 defined the role of the Air Ground Cooperation Parties (AGCP) (Farmer
Strumwasser, 1967). The role of the AGCP was to coordinate airborne fires in support of ground units
and the AGCP cell was assumed to be located with the headquarters element, usually detached from
the front line (Farmer Strumwasser, 1967). Through continued evolution of the AGCP concept the
observer was moved further from the headquarters and placed on or near the front lines to provide
immediate tactical control of airborne fires platforms. The AGCP concept proved to be so effective
that it continued development through the Second World War and into the Korean War. With the
predominance of close air support aircraft located far away at Itazuki Air Base in Japan during the
Korean War a ground based controller was ineffective at identifying targets for the pilots to engage
before they needed to return for fuel (Farmer Strumwasser, 1967). This led to the airborne Forward
Air Controller (FAC). Flying a small maneuverable craft at low levels airborne FAC s could easily
pick out targets unseen from ground level and quickly vector or lead attack planes to them for
engagement. The

Motifs In Never Cry Wolf
The movie Never Cry Wolf is a film concerned fundamentally with the conflict created when humans
experience nature and the wild. It begins with a young scientist, the protagonist who is placed in the
Arctic and preforms a scientific study involving wolves. While conducting his study he finds out
about the genuine way of the wild and about the way creatures that have a place in a given location fit
into the bigger plans of things. The conflict between man and nature is also revealed by the motif s,
themes, and the values shown by the character throughout the movie. One of the important motif s
expressed in the movie is the bassoon. Within one of the scenes of the movie the bassoon is used as a
weapon of protection. Tyler had learned a trick with his bassoon that gives him the ability to imitate
the howls of a wolf and being able to call other wolves. Another motif we are able to see in the movie
is a hero s adventure. There isn t anyone else willing to go to the Arctic like Tyler. He encountered
many situations such as drowning and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While analyzing the wolves behaviors he decides to give them names such as Angie and George. He
doesn t experience anything with them but watches them. Tyler becomes more intend about what is
actually going on in his surrounding. Unlike this century where many individuals are distracted by
technology. They re lacking experience in general and experience within nature. People nowadays go
on vacation and instead of having fun they re mainly on their phone. They re not getting the
experience they should be getting out of their vacation. Technology is taking a hold on us and
preventing humans from being alert. Unlike Tyler who was alert at most times and experiencing the
things that nature provides. Another theme showed in the movie is what is useful and what isn t useful.
Tyler in the beginning of the movie takes many material items for survival that wasn t

Brazil s population is expected to grow to 203 million to 226 million people by year 2050. In the 1970 Brazil was facing rapid population growth and a food shortage. Brazil was one of the fastest growing major economies in the world surpassing that of the United Kingdom. Brazil s economic growth has however decelerated in 2013 and had almost no liquid growth throughout 2014. Brazil s economy is expected to grow by only 1.8% in 2015. Brazil is thought to be one of the fastest growing economies in the Americas. On the world s stage Brazil is currently the third largest agricultural producing country. The country produces roughly 150 million tons of grains and oilseeds; and thirteen million tons of meat annually. It should be noted that the Brazilian agriculture has not always been a thriving sector. The country s increased population growth also elevated the need for food. The elevated need for food created a gap between what was needed and what was produced. However, in 1972, the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation, better known as Embrapa, was created with the goal being to develop agriculture in the country through the generation and transfer of knowledge from scientists to farmers. In today s market, food is Brazil s major export. Brazil s beef and pork supply have multiplied four times in the past 35 years. • 3. Identifying The Identity Of Two Unknown Metals Essay Introduction It is necessary to identify the identity of two unknown metals. This is important because a metal scrap yard must know the identities of the metals before they can be recycled. It is also necessary to know what each metal is if a building is to be made using one or more of these metals. Identifying the metals will be done using intensive properties. Intensive properties do not depend on the amount of material present. Density is an intensive property found with the formula D=m/v. Which is defined as mass divided by volume to find the density. Procedure First, each metal s description and weight was recorded. Additionally, the weights of each cylinder used was recorded. Next, a graduated cylinder was filled with 20mL of water and unknown metal II was fully submerged in the water 3 times. Each time, the volumes were recorded and the difference between the final volume and initial volume was calculated. This test was repeated for unknown metal IV. Calculations Unknown I and V Masses Unknown I was weighed 3 times in a graduated cylinder with 20 mL of water in it. Weight 1 came out at 215.672g, weight 2 came out at 216.135g, and weight 3 came out at 216.362g. Averaging the weights gave 216.056g. Unknown V s weights came out at 74.065g, 74.623g, and 74.538g. Averaging the 3 weights yielded 74.589g. Unknown I and V Volumes Unknown I s 3 volume measurements came out to be 26.26 mL, 26.25mL, and 26.02mL. Averaging these volumes yields 26.15mL. Shiro Azuma s Visit To The Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall To the Past I used to admire my father, who came to United States with my mother and me with almost no understanding of English, but is still hopeful about the new life. He is always the first one who stands up for me and courage me to face to the challenges, and I always think that he is the only one who can listen to my view and give me advice sincerely, until I visited the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall with him, I found that we consider our history in two completely different ways. The Memorial Hall is far away from the hotel we stayed, it took us approximately forty minutes to get there. However, this is worth it. • 7. Essay on Disney s Medievalesque Sleeping Beauty Disney s Medievalesque Sleeping Beauty It was not once upon a time, but in a certain time in history, before anyone knew what was happening, Walt Disney cast a spell on the fairy tale. He did not use a magic wand or demonic powers. On the contrary, Disney employed the most up to date technological means and used his own American grit and ingenuity to appropriate European fairy tales. His technical skills and ideological proclivities were so consummate that his signature obfuscated the names of Charles Perrault, the Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen, and Collodi. If children or adults think of the great classical fairy tales today, be it Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, or Cinderella, they will think Walt Disney. Jack Zipes, ... While well versed in Disney s ability to produce socio cultural stagnancy, work such as that done by Zipes, Byrne and McQuillan do not address the specific ways in which Disney perpetuates particular socio economic myths with its fairy tale appropriations. While work is currently being done on how Disney s theme parks play upon socio economic conservatism, and the 1970 s saw a key text in Ariel Dorfman and Armand Mattelart s How to Read Donald Duck: Imperialist Ideology in the Disney Comic, Disney s animated fairy tales, especially the earlier ones, have long been neglected and are all due for a serious reading in terms of the socio economic messages they implicitly convey to their audience. In a paper of this size I neither wish to criticize scholars for neglecting this area, nor do I hope to remedy this problem in one blow. Instead this paper will examine the particular ways in which Disney uses the medium of animation in order to incorporate the medieval into his adaptation of Sleeping Beauty, as well as the very pointed anachronistic exceptions it makes to this medievalesque trend. I will then analyze how these particular implementations of the medieval, as well as the exceptions, serve to create a fantastic feeling of nostalgia for a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Biological Of Sexual Orientation The Biological Correlates of Sexual Orientation Prof. Brett Beston PSY354 University of Toronto at Mississauga Adla Begeta 998184539 Date submitted: Sunday, August 10, 2014 The topic of sexual orientation is both sensitive and controversial. This is evident in events, such as the Pride Parade, and also in media, where authoritative figures preach against it and speak of its sinful nature (Emmanuele, Blanchard, Camperio Ciani, Bancroft, 2010). Sexual orientation exists in various forms, it differs in the way it is viewed by different cultures, and researchers propose different perspectives to explain the emergence of an individual s sexual orientation. In the discourse of sexual orientation, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A pattern emerges where the scholarly literature exploring this topic is largely focused on males. Reason being is that it appears that males are the sex who are predominantly homosexual in their orientation (LeVay Baldwin, 2012). However, the sensitivity within the discourse of sexual orientation arises when it is debated upon whether one s sexual preference is innate at birth, hence a force of nature or biology, or if it is a result of culture, nurture or environmental factors (Emmanuele et al., 2010). Furthermore, an experimental design will be proposed to further examine this topic. Comparing the three chosen studies, it is evident that a biological and endocrinological perspective does account for sexual orientation (Kraemer et al., 2006; Manning et al., 2007; Miller et al., 2008). Of the studies that currently exist on this topic, data shows that prenatal testosterone levels are indicative of sexual orientation (Kraemer et al., 2006; Manning et al., 2007; Miller et al., 2008). This paper addresses a topic that is relevant in today s society; a topic that has, for the most part, been written off as having any scientific roots (Emmanuele et al., 2010). This paper counters that belief and in reading this essay, it will be evident that biology and endocrinology have a much stronger influence on sexual orientation than previously thought. • 10. Poetic Analysis Of The Song Graceland By Paul Simon Poetic Analysis of Paul Simon s Graceland In the realm of music, words and melodies work together in order to form a complete idea of an artist s work. However, by abandoning the melodies and reading closely into the lyrics of a song, readers are able to draw meaning and make observations from the text that could be overshadowed by its melodies. A fine example of a song where this method is applicable is Paul Simon s Graceland. Examining the lyrics reveals the story of a man making a pilgrimage to Elvis Presley s Graceland estate in Memphis, Tennessee in the same way a religious person would journey to a holy site. Through usage of imagery, tone, and metaphorical devices throughout allow this song to function as a comically surreal poem. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His repetition of where he is going emphasizes its significance to him, similar to the way someone would repeat something in a conversation to emphasize its importance: I m going to Graceland! Graceland! Memphis, Tennessee! Graceland is described as a place welcoming of people from different walks of life, indicated by, Poorboys and Pilgrims with families / And we are going to Graceland, (10 11). Here, the comically surreal notion of Graceland as a holy site is introduced with tourists making pilgrimages to the estate with their families, with the hopes that they will take something morally significant away from their journey. The narrator then reveals that, as a pilgrim to Graceland, he too has a family he brings with him, My travelling companion is nine years old / He is the child of my first marriage, (12 13). The diction here is indicative that the narrator is no longer in a relationship with the child s mother, leaning towards the possibility that the narrator hopes to rekindle a relationship with the child through their pilgrimage to Graceland, or that he is raising the child on his own and sharing a road trip with him. He then says, But I ve reason to believe / We both will be received / In Graceland, creating a hopeful tone sonically through the rhymes of believe and receive , which is contradicted by the ambiguous diction which alludes to the possibility that they could not be received in Graceland ... • 11. The History of Human Rights in Canada throughout the 20th... Canada is perceived by other nations as a peace loving and good natured nation that values the rights of the individual above all else. This commonly held belief is a perception that has only come around as of late, and upon digging through Canadian history it quickly becomes obvious that this is not the truth. Canadian history is polluted with numerous events upon which the idea that Canada is a role model for Human Rights shows to be false. An extreme example of this disregard for Human Rights takes place at the beginning of the twentieth century, which is the excessive prejudice and preconceived notions that were held as truths against immigrants attempting to enter Canada. Another prime example of these prejudices and improper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Canadian government perpetuated the stereotype and racism that all Chinese were used to; by removing their right to vote, even as full citizens they were unable to elect a political party that embodied their goals. Also in an attempt to strengthen the racist views the Canadian government segregated Oriental school children from Canadian school children, by only allowing those born in Canada to attend public school. This act of segregation draws a parallel to black segregation and truly shows how significant this hate had become. This hate destroyed many lives and set the acceptance of the Chinese heritage and culture back by decades; which later became important when we wished to create an alliance with China. In 1907 these racist views erupted into full scale destruction as over 7000 Canadians pillaged Chinatown ; breaking all the store windows while mass looting occurred. Even after this horrendous rampage the government continued its views of the Chinese and passed into legislation a Chinese Immigration Act in 1923. This act prevented all Chinese from entering the country, including those with family already within Canada. This act is shown to be significant to both Canadian and Chinese history as it demonstrates that Canada wished to thin their population of Chinese citizens. It also shows that many, if not all, of Canada and its citizens, shared these racist views. Overall these racist views continued on throughout the first half of the twentieth ... The Implications Of Genetically Engineered Foods Genetically engineered foods are defined as foods that have had genes from other animals or plants (hereby referred to as foreign genes) added onto their genetic codes. The genetic engineering technique can be employed on animals, plants, or on such microorganisms as bacteria (NIH). The question of whether foods derived from such organisms should be approved for human consumption is what has raised widespread controversy among many circles. There are those who view GM foods as the ultimate solution to major challenges of the 21st century while others see them as a threat to human health and the environment. Notably, the global society is facing major challenges key among them being food insecurity and environmental issues such as global warming and climate change. Genetically engineered foods present a potential solution to these challenges. This paper will argue that with adequate research and regulation, genetically engineered foods should be approved owing to the benefits they present in terms of increased food production and quality, as well as eliminating the need to compromise the environment in the pursuit of more cultivation land and higher crop yield. A gender role is a set of expectations dictating the types of behaviors, which are generally considered acceptable, appropriate, or desirable for people based on their actual or perceived sex or sexuality. Theories of gender role development can be further explained by Bandura s social learning theory and Kohlberg s cognitive development theory. Bandura believed we learned gender roles by modeling the actions of those in our environment. Watching, learning, and the imitation of others each describe Babdura s social learning Theory. Kohlberg s cognitive development describes gender roles in three stages preconvention, conventional, and post conventional. #2Growing up with siblings of the same or opposite sex also affects gender typing. In todays society, African Americans are given equal rights as white Americans and racism seems to be fading away as the years pass and our society becomes more and more accepting of diversity. African Americans between ages now believe that it s easier for them to achieve the American Dream than it was for their parents. We can see this by the fact that more and more African Americans are going to college and becoming successful. President Obama is an example of this. This scene is one of the most important, if not the most important scene of the book because it starts a chain reaction to the rest of the story. Finding out that Clea went missing shows what Cody s personality is and what he will do to try and find her. The author has suspensefully expanded the moment in this key scene to have an effect on the reader. The author wrote, Something that got his heart beating fast, something, in fact, that woke him up and made him feel alive, as though he d been in hibernation. Alive, but not in a good way: What Cody saw on the front page of the Guardian was a photograph of Clea. Over it, a big black headline read: Local Girl Missing (81). This quote illustrates the craft move by expanding the moment of when Cody read the article about Clea, showing his emotions and what is going in his mind at the time. It also adds suspense because as the reader reads the key scene, the reader does not know what is going on and sees what Cody s reaction is. The author s goal through using this technique is to make the readers feel what Cody is feeling and try to step in his shoes during this heart breaking scene in the ... Essay about Teaching Morality Teaching Morality In The Night is Dark and I am Far From Home, Jonathan Kozol writes that The first goal and primary function of the U.S. public school is not to educate good people, but good citizens. (1). He implies that the public school has no function but to turn out people who will vote, pay their taxes, and follow the nations laws without protest. If this is so, and I believe that it is, should the philosophy of the public school system be changed to produce morally upright individuals? I believe that schools should try to produce the best people they can. Many people argue that morals should be taught at home, but that isn t good enough. So the question remains: if parents aren t available or able, to make sure that their children grow up with a good strong moral foundation, who will? The only answer that truly makes sense is school. For six hours a day, five days a week, 180 days a year, children are forced to spend their time in a classroom. Teachers are with their students sometimes more than the children s parents are. These adults that are entrusted with the education of our youth during their most formative years are in a position to exert a tremendous influence. We should take advantage of that, not shun it. Some people argue that if schooling teaches a child how to be a good citizen, then being a good person will take care of itself, as if good citizenship begets a good person. This isn t necessarily the truth. The rougher kids called him a pinko, hippie, garbage, Communist, or faggot. (Kozol, 129)During much of my high school career, while I was never called anything like that, I was not very popular. I had friends who I was very close to, but I was never one of the people in the midst of the social whirl that can be found at any high school. I didn t go to parties, I seldom, if ever, went out on dates, and the only time that I mixed with the popular crowd was in class, if we had group work. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Different Situations Where Skills By Social Workers Are... This essay will be discussing two different situations where skills by social workers are needed when working with groups. I will define the term group and will be reflecting on my own experiences of working within groups and what I have observed in regards to individuals, behaviours and group dynamics. My examples are drawn from two particular situations where I have been involved, which include a multi professional meeting and residential home for children with disabilities. I will be drawing on knowledge from K216 materials and other sources. A definition of group according to the Oxford Dictionary of Social Work and Social Care (2013) is a number of individuals with a shared sense of identity and/or who are bound together by interaction with each other . Groups may be categorised into sub groups such as: social group, interest group, family group or task group. People may be members of these different groups; however, their choice of membership may be unavoidable, voluntary or limited. For example, attending school is compulsory for young people and therefore the school group is regarded as a formal group . Whereas they are at liberty to choose their friendship group within the school, therefore this is considered an informal group (Adams, 1993, p.309 ). The first group situation I will discuss is a multi professional meeting. The meeting was one I observed which gave me the opportunity to identify group challenges and skills. The meeting was an Adoption ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Democracy And Violent Civil Conflict Democracy and violent civil conflict Democracy is believed to have a pacifying power. With electoral processes, the rule of law and freedom from state oppression it makes sense that the populations has enough avenues to express grievances without resorting to full scale civil violence. Democracy beyond mutual democratic pacifism would thus have an impact on internal civil relations positively but this is not the case. There have been an increased number of cases of civil and ethnic violence in government systems that we might consider to be in stages of democratization. Evidence would seem to suggest that there are greater levels of violent civil conflict in these sort of regimes as opposed to full blown dictatorships or democracies. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... [4] Hypothesis. There are two major hypothesis in this paper i. Pseudo democracies have greater levels of civil violence than do democracies ii. Pseudo democracies have greater levels of civil violence than autocracies. Theory I argue that this could be as a result of a number of reasons, while an autocratic government might be able to use force to keep the population under tight control, a weak democracy with its relative political and civil freedoms is likely to bring strife as soon as institutions are not functional and transparent enough. Ethnic groups, religious groups or party faithful soon take to violence when the institutions in place is not trusted either due to incapacity or lack of transparency and since the citizens now have a voice and might not be exposed to the dangers of brutal crackdowns they soon are exposed to strife that soon become violent. This might be due to introduction of unpopular or controversial laws, dissatisfaction with government performance or suspicion of government s actions. Competitive elections presents a whole new avenue for disagreement and where the representatives are disconnected from the electorate, they turn to violent conflict as a route to voice grievances with less fear of extreme crackdown by the government. The problem is that most often what would start as a peaceful demonstration explodes into an all out riot with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Catastrophism And Uniformitarianism In Dating Earth There can be many different views when we define the words of catastrophism and uniformitarianism. They can be seen in many diverse ways from person to person. In the article Dating Earth, it mentioned the background of the concept of uniformitarianism and catastrophism. People who had biblical views were considered catastrophists and were known scientists who invoked supernatural causes. Uniformitarianism is a concept that is viewed as gradual constant change, or no change at all. This view can be debatable with catastrophism which is sudden or immediate change because a small change over time that seems so constant can feel sudden at the same time. It depends how you view it and see the picture in our histories time lapse. When we define constant we view it as a nice even flow, but sometimes the flow can be higher at times and lower which can equal to the even gradual concept of uniformitarianism while it can be viewed as a catastrophic event too because if we think about the butterfly effect that small sudden change can be so unique and make big changes even though it seemed small and equal like uniformitarianism. The Butterfly Effect mentioned how Lorenz made a small change to his systems of equations which proved to be catastrophic even though the numbers seemed very small to even make a difference. When we view uniformitarianism and catastrophism they can both be true in context, but if you view it in a diverse way to include the small changes uniformitarianism can ... • 42. The O 1 Bird Dog Essay The O 1 Bird Dog The First World War clearly demonstrated that airplanes had a promising career in warfare. With rapid development creating larger, faster and more capable aircraft the task of putting their munitions on target became increasingly complex and called for a new type of control. In March of 1942 FM 31 35 defined the role of the Air Ground Cooperation Parties (AGCP) (Farmer Strumwasser, 1967). The role of the AGCP was to coordinate airborne fires in support of ground units and the AGCP cell was assumed to be located with the headquarters element, usually detached from the front line (Farmer Strumwasser, 1967). Through continued evolution of the AGCP concept the observer was moved further from the headquarters and placed on or near the front lines to provide immediate tactical control of airborne fires platforms. The AGCP concept proved to be so effective that it continued development through the Second World War and into the Korean War. With the predominance of close air support aircraft located far away at Itazuki Air Base in Japan during the Korean War a ground based controller was ineffective at identifying targets for the pilots to engage before they needed to return for fuel (Farmer Strumwasser, 1967). This led to the airborne Forward Air Controller (FAC). Flying a small maneuverable craft at low levels airborne FAC s could easily pick out targets unseen from ground level and quickly vector or lead attack planes to them for engagement. The ... It begins with a young scientist, the protagonist who is placed in the Arctic and preforms a scientific study involving wolves. While conducting his study he finds out about the genuine way of the wild and about the way creatures that have a place in a given location fit into the bigger plans of things. The conflict between man and nature is also revealed by the motif s, themes, and the values shown by the character throughout the movie. One of the important motif s expressed in the movie is the bassoon. Within one of the scenes of the movie the bassoon is used as a weapon of protection.
