Economic Disparity Is The Economic Difference Between...
Economic disparity is the economic difference between people or countries. The reason why
Walkabout relates to economic disparity is because it involves people from two different
environments, lifestyles, culture, religion, economic classes, and education system, in comparison
from Charleston, South Carolina and Australia the Land Down Under . Starting off with the reason
why the setting of this book leads to the understanding of the gap between poor and the riches, The
setting in Walkabout took place in 1971 in the middle of The Sturt Desert . The unnamed Aboriginal
boy was born and raised in Australian while Peter and Mary was born and raised in South Carolina.
South Carolina is a developed country, meaning advanced in infrastructure, industrialization, income
per capita and standards of living. Also, Australia is similar to South Carolina but the habitat of The
Sturt Desert which has no resources for living beings to survive, instead this area was something new
for the new arrivals Here was something very different from the desert of the popular imagination; a
flowering wilderness. (Pg. 10). People aren t often getting the ability to travel because they cannot
afford the money to buy tickets for their families depending on how much profit their country provide
for each family plus taxes. The Australian desert seem to be as empty, strange, surreal, terrifying and
unknown. Rainfall is unpredictable, which affects the plants and animal by 50 percent of all mammal

Nova Scotia Mathematics Curriculum Analysis
It is the messy, complicated picture of teacher work with multiple contexts, interpretations and
impositions of curriculum that we seek (Ayers, W., Quinn, T., Stovall, D. O., Scheiern, L. (2008, p.
308). The Nova Scotia mathematics curriculum was designed based on several key assumptions and
beliefs about learning. Not all of these assumptions and beliefs are in line with cognitive science
literature. First, the Nova Scotia mathematics curriculum states that, students learn by attaching
meaning to what they do and need to construct their own meaning of mathematics (Nova Scotia
Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, 2014, p. 25). While it is difficult to
argue against the premise that meaningful learning is important,

Sectional Tensions Of The Civil War Essay
Throughout early American History, the issue of slavery was considered by many to be unsolvable.
The North and the South were unwilling to compromise once tensions reached a high in the mid 1800
s leading to the Civil War. Already high tensions in the United States between the North and South,
were pushed to a toppling point over the controversy about slavery. It was only a matter of time before
the Nation would have to resolve this issue and attempt to unite the Country. This sectional tension
can be seen during two presidential administrations that either precede, or occur during the Civil War;
the administrations of President Franklin Pierce, and of Abraham Lincoln. Thus, the issue of slavery
economically and politically polarized the Country ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the North grew in manufacturing throughout the 1840 s and 1850 s, the southern economy
remained stagnant. In fact, the slave states possessed only around 18% of the total national
manufacturing capacity during this period. Over half of this manufacturing capacity was located in the
border states, Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, and Missouri, whose populations had questionable
loyalty to the South. These border states were only southern in some aspects, and thus, did not secede
from the Union. Because of the lack of true southern manufacturing, it was hard to generate large
profits, as all agricultural produce had to be shipped North in order to be manufactured. For example,
most cotton from the South was sent to the North for spinning and manufacturing into clothing. From
there, the garments created would be sent back to the South, at a marked up, higher price. The
production difference between the South and the North made the South completely dependent on the
North, economically. According to one southerner, Financially [the south is] more enslaved than [its]
negroes .Thus, the South s utter reliance the North for even the most basic staples, including clothing,
books, and tools, led to intense friction between the two regions of the

The American Dream Essay
American Dream Many persons will give everything to come and reside in the United States. There
are some persons that pay a high amount of money to travel with someone who is going to make them
cross the border (Immigrants). These people who travel with this person have to go through many
things to accomplish this dream. But they really live the American Dream that they expected? The law
is getting stricter to Immigrants getting to a point where the Immigrants can t live their lives. The
ideals of freedom, equality, and opportunity traditionally held to be available to every American. If
one were to search what the American Dream was in a dictionary, the results would be as above. But
what does this mean? These two words have had such conviction over immigrants since our nation s
founding; enough conviction for whole families to pack their bags and leave the only life they have
ever known behind, for the promise of something bigger, something better.
This dream is usually sought after by people who have been deprived of things such as the freedom to
do what they want or the ability to have what they want. I believe that the American dream can still be
achieved by people to this very day, even though I think it is a lot harder to accomplish the dreams
they have now.The sky is the limit to what you can build, and what can happen to you and your
family. Sanford I. Weill. I think that The Younger Family made the right decision by not taking Linder

Quakers Beliefs
The Protestant Reformation often gets the lion s share of attention when discussing religious reform
and renewal during the Early Modern period. However, to state that the Reformation was the only
significant shift in the ideology and practice of Christianity would be to greatly undersell the
importance of a myriad of religious reformers that denounced the decrepit and outdated relationship
between mainstream religious practice and God. For this new wave of religious reformers, the
traditions of the mainstream Church (whether Protestant or Catholic) were getting in the way of godly
men and women forging a personal relationship with their savior, one in which the individual is

Breaking from Protestant tradition, in which church services tended to be muted and formal,
Methodist services often included crying, moaning, and shouting 8. For Methodists, this expression of
true rapturous love for God was an outgrowth of the great personal love each person had for his or her
creator; for Methodists, loudly and passionately expressing your religious feelings was to embrace
God with all of one s being. This was a common thread among many reformers during the time
period: the idea that the church services being practiced by the mainstream Protestant church were too
far removed from the passionate love of God that many believers felt from within their hearts.
Methodism and its focus on personal relationships and contact with God would prove very popular
among disaffected Protestants, and would eventually become among the most well known and

Laissez Faire Capitalism In The Gilded Age
Before the Gilded Age, economic growth came to a halt because of the Depression of 1873. The
depression led to the bankruptcy of many banks and railroads, and resulted in hundreds of thousands
of people out of work. The Liberal Republican party also emerged as result of the depression. Liberal
Republicans were strong advocates for laissez faire policies, where there is no government regulation
in businesses or the economy. With this ideology, liberal republicans believed that it would help
stimulate economic growth and create more jobs. While liberal republicans were unsuccessful in
getting into office, they helped push the Democratic party (who were able to get control of the House
in 1784) shift their agenda to supporting laissez faire capitalism. By 1879, The Depression of 1873
had ended and the second Industrial Revolution began.
Laissez Faire capitalism became the dominating force of the Industrial Revolution that began during
the Gilded Age. The idea that Laissez Faire capitalism could help bring prosperity to the common man
was pushed by writer Horatio Alger, who published books that assured young readers that if they were
honest, hardworking, and had a good character, they could leave poverty behind and succeed in the
new competitive economy brought by the second industrial revolution. This idea was also reinforced
through the success of industrialists like John D. Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, and Cornelius
Vanderbilt, who came from humble backgrounds. Laissez Faire

Charles Engen Chapter Summary
Charles Engen initiates us positively by encouraging us to think what if each church would begin to
see itself as God s Missionary People. There is much to commend in his book as Engen asks the
church to become in fact what it is by faith, a marvelous statement. Further insights come from
statistical analysis, probing questions of eccesiology directed at questioning if we superimpose
ourselves in areas of polity, form, structure or tradition upon the cultures we reach. I agree completely
that making cosmetic changes or restructuring the denomination may not translate into crossing
barriers from church to non church for the sake of the gospel. The church is compared with the noble
works of the para church which forces us to think about how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. 2 Corinthians 6:17 Now the world, in this sense,
is an enemy to the soul. There are three things which a baptized Christian must renounce and give up,
and three enemies which he must fight with and resist. These three are the flesh, the devil, and the
world. All three are terrible foes, and all three must be overcome if we would be saved. It is clear to
me that some of the churches quoted by Engen have made great strides in technology and skill in
planning and execution of management with wonderful music, yet are astray. We would smile if only
Engen would have saturated himself with Godly quotes from within his bibliographic choices such as
De Ridder as he speaks of (De Ridder, 1975) Matthew. The designation of the sheep in Matt. 15:24 as

A Reflection On What Makes A Socially Intelligent Leader
In this paper, I will be writing a final reflection on what makes a socially intelligent leader. This will
include a reflection on the article called, Social Intelligence and the Biology of Leadership written by
Daniel Goleman and Richard Boyatzis. Additionally, I will identify my personal top ten leader
attributes and describe them. Lastly, I will discuss my plan for further self development to align
myself better with my leader attributes.
Goleman and Boyatzis write, ...certain things leaders do specifically, exhibit empathy and become
attuned to others moods literally affect both their own brain chemistry and that of their followers (p.
76). This is a finding from research that shows how individual minds combine together to work as a
single system. This means that people who are great leaders have the ability to act with a behavior that
has an influential force on brain interconnectedness. Furthermore, being a leader is more about
developing an interest in people that will nurture positive feelings in them. This will lead them to
provide better cooperation and support back to the leader (Goleman Boyatzis, 2008, p. 76).
A typically leader is thought of a person who is in charge, controls others, assigns tasks, deadlines, and
often is not respected by peers because they are harsh and demanding. This type of leadership is often
unproductive both for the leader and the followers. They do not have a team environment and often
only trying to what is needed to just

Jane Austen s Influence On Society
As a well traveled young woman for her day and age, Jane Austen undoubtedly mixed her personal
experiences and encounters into her classic tales. Many critics have analyzed the characters in her
novels as being comparable to people Austen actually knew in her lifetime. Moreover, critics say that
Austen transcribed her own self through most of her main heroines, whether it was how she actually
acted, or what she desired to be like in real life. However, not many critics have touched on the
importance of the aunt figure that is present throughout Austen s novels. Most aunts throughout her
novels, although not major characters, prove to be some of the most influential on the protagonists. I
would argue that because Austen regarded herself as a responsible and integral part in all of her nieces
and nephews lives, she transcribed this throughout her characters. Thus, by acknowledging the insight
and importance of the aunts in her novels, we can actually learn more as to how Austen must have
been when playing her real life role as Aunt Jane. Within her own life, Austen understood the
importance of the extended family. She was an aunt to over 30 nieces and nephews, and often
considered the favorite. In some cases, Austen even took over care of some of her nieces and nephews
after their mothers passed. From recovered letters to relatives biographies, the majority of the
statements regard Austen as performing her aunt duties to a T. Austen s nephew, James Edward Austen

Classification of mental disorders keeps improving and changing over time with the goal of providing
more accurate diagnosis and proper intervention. As guides for clinician, the formal Diagnostic
Statistical Manual has categorical description of a variety of illnesses that are classified based on
symptoms (Kite, Gullifer Tyson, 2012). Recently, the new version of the DSM raises many
controversies since it suggests merging Asperger syndrome into the category of autism disorder to

High functioning autism in adulthood without delay in language development is similar to adult who

Comparing Elizabeth Barrett Browning And Petrarchan Sonnet
Female poets in the nineteenth century were small in number and Elizabeth created a path for herself
and remained ambitious. Present day Feminists consider Elizabeth as an influential and independent
voice of social issues, saying she anticipated movements to come. Not only were ladies discouraged
from learning other languages and from reading controversial books at the time, they were also denied
gaining a university education. Amid all female poets of the world in the nineteenth century, none
were held in critical esteem or were as widely respected for the individuality and bravery of their
views as Elizabeth Barrett Browning was.
While she was considered among her peers to be a better poet than her husband, Elizabeth was later
overshadowed by his success, sometimes even being only referred to as Elizabeth Browning and
losing her maiden name. Robert Browning had no intent of upstaging his wife but at the time it was a
given that he would get more attention for his poetry. Even today if you are searching for a poem by
Elizabeth Browning you are presented with more information about her husband s poetry. The styles
of Elizabeth and Robert were extremely similar but he didn t concentrate on sonnets as much as she
did. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Patient satisfaction surveys will also help potential patients understand the environment they are about
to enter. If a staff is rude and curt than the public will have access to this. Essentially, this will
encourage health care providers to give optimal quality of service to each and every patient. Of
course, it s important that a patients expectations are not too grand. Nothing in life is perfect and
people should understand this. Busy hours and numerous patients can cause fatigue. After all, health
care providers are still human. Perhaps if all physicians were machines then we could expect them all
to be perfect. Performance of medical procedures will enlighten a patient of how well a hospital is
able to provide a service. This in turn will allow consumers to make the best choice when selecting a
facility for providing care. Someone needing back surgery should be able to locate and choose a
facility right for them. If a facility performs poorly with back surgeries, the public has a right to know
so that they can avoid this. People have the right to make the most well informed decision. Facility
treatment of patients should definitely be transparent. If a facility is trying to hide something it can t
be good. People have the right to know how well a facility treats their patients. This also encourages a

The Impact Of NCSAAnd The Native Corporation System On...
In considering how Natives have been treated in American history, it can be surmised that NCSA and
the Native corporation system have been good for Alaska Natives. For the most part, ANCSA and the

American history, ANCSA was the largest land claim settlement. And for another example, the Native
corporation system was set up in a way, that it safeguarded the land and cash settlement, so it would
profit future generations of Alaska Natives and nonnatives as well. Nevertheless, ANCSA and the
Native corporation system have had a negative impact as well. Such as, ANCSA was not seen as a
good deal for all the Alaskan Natives. Because ANCSA caused confusion over governing structures of
the tribes, many Natives believed that ANCSA made their tribes weak. Furthermore, during their first
twenty years, the Alaska Native regional corporations endured huge profits losses in their effort to

Gum Vs Chewing Gum Essay
Adults and children alike enjoy chewing gum, but while chewing gum can have its advantages, such
as freshening breath, it can also have its disadvantages. Being aware of the detrimental effects of gum
can help consumers make healthful decisions when next purchasing and planning on chewing gum.
1. Plaque Formation
Plaque is a clear bio film of buildup on the teeth that can lead to both tooth decay and gum disease.
Chewing gum or eating any food can cause plaque to form. After consuming food or chewing gum,
plaque can formulate on the teeth within a few hours. The bacteria found in plaque can directly lead to
tooth decay. If plaque is not removed from teeth quickly enough through brushing and flossing,
bacteria can calcify, turn in to tartar

Toubou People
The Toubou people first appeared in the 5th century BC, which is when they took over the range and
turned it into their home. They raised their families, traded their livestock, and harvested their crops
here. The ancient Toubou also painted and engraved beautiful rock art that archeologists later
discovered. Lastly, there are still Toubou people living in the Tibesti Mountains to this day.
The Tibesti Mountains, also known as the Tibesti Massif, are extremely dangerous and volcanic
mountains. They extend into northeastern Niger and southern Libya, but they are mostly located in
northwestern Chad. They are about 300 miles long and up to 175 miles wide. With the elevation being

Most of the art found can date from anywhere between 4,000 to 12,000 years or more. Archaeologists
believe that some of the missing rock art could have been up to 33,000 years old. The animals that
were carved or painted were the animals that were hunted or lived in their nearby are, some of which
are now extinct. Some of these animals that are still around today include hippos, rhinos, elephants,
giraffes, and even fish. Some of the new paintings include ostriches and antelope. Another type of
engraving they would see often would be owoza, which were portray warriors, wearing feathers and
they were armed with shields and knives. Some were dance scenes. Some paintings discovered were
over 6 feet in height. The art shows the culture of the ancient people of Chad. During the Pastoral
period, the engravings or paintings showed men herding their cattle or hunting, while the women and
children were hanging around camp. In addition, there was a lot of horse art found, which is some of
the most interesting art. The paintings of the scenes that are more pastoral are painted with a red base
because the red base signifies towards domestication in the Tibesti Mountains. There is so much rock
art in the Tibesti Mountains that archaeologists believe they have only found less than half of the art
that is still out there. Jeremy Curl, an explorer, states, There have only been a handful of expeditions
to the Tibesti in the last hundred years because it is so remote and inaccessible. It s time for a new one.
He took a trip through the Tibesti Mountains to view some of the amazing rock art. There has been
around 200 engraving sights and 100 painting sights discovered. Although the paintings and
engravings have went through time and weathering, you can still see most of the art clearly. Rock art
is still an extremely important part of Toubou people s lives. The reason

Transcendent Themes In Hamlet
Hamlet
Transcendent Themes in a Disinterested Age
Modernized versions of classic performances often run into the issue of being simply too long for a
modern audience to sit through, with the dangers of audiences simply being too bored in an age where
the average movie is about 110 minutes. By making decisions that appeal to the visual side of Hamlet
as opposed to altering the auditory work in any way Kenneth Branagh succeeds in maintaining both
artistic authenticity and audience in a way that has not been replicated in modern times. Hamlet,
released in 1996 starring and directed by Kenneth Branagh follows William Shakespeare s tragedy
precisely and successfully overcomes the risks by make the film more digestible for a modern
audience are with its imagery, themes, and line delivery, this success is showcased at it s most
masterful upon looking at the soliloquies that Hamlet delivers with his act 4 scene 4 soliloquy being
the pinnacle of mixing the source material and modern appeal.
Hamlet, as a stage play first performed in 1609 was limited by the technology of its day in terms of the
visuals it could provide its audience, however Kenneth Branagh s version had no such limitations and
took full advantage of the progressed technology in order to engross the audience. During the act 4

Shipping Patented By E Commerce Giant
Anticipatory shipping is a method of shipping patented by e commerce giant Amazon in December
2013. During the normal shipping process, an e commerce retailer or goods manufacturer receives a
customer order specifying the exact address where the product is to be delivered. The company then
prepares the package and hands it over to a shipping service provider such as FedEx for delivery. The
delay of multiple days between order placement and actual delivery is a major impediment to the wide
acceptance of e commerce. It forces e commerce companies to offer incentives like cash on delivery to
their customers. Anticipatory shipping is aimed at cutting the delivery time and improving the
experience for e commerce users. With this technique, a company will ship products even before an
order is placed by a customer. It would specify only a partial address indicating destination
geographical area for delivery. While the packages are in transit, the company will employ advanced
analytics and forecasting techniques to predict which customers would want to buy the shipped
products. Then it could use targeted marketing and sales promotions to induce such customers to buy
the products. If a customer indeed places an order, the company would provide exact delivery address
to the shipping service provider and the products could be delivered much quicker, even on the same
day.

to help me at the door. Everything was smooth until they were actually texting and not saying
anything to the customers as soon as they came in. A regular customer came in and immediately saw
them on their phone, not engaging in emotional labor, but rather their private emotions of actually not

myself, but he was literally engaging in the nonperson treatment, which means treating others as if

Analysis Of The Movie Hurt, Nine Inch Nails
Hurt is a song that was written by Trent Reznor of the industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails in 1994
from the album The Downward Spiral. It received positive reviews, even receiving a Grammy award
nomination for best rock song in 1996 ( Hurt, Nine Inch Nails Song ). Reznor in Cleveland, Ohio
founded the Nine Inch Nails in 1988. Reznor is the main producer, singer, songwriter, and
instrumentalist of the band as well as the only official member of the group ( Nine Inch Nails ).
Country music artist Johnny Cash received critical acclaim when he covered Hurt with reviews saying
that Cash s version was much better than the original done by Reznor. Johnny Cash is considered to be
one of the most influential and best selling artists of the 20th century. Most of Cash s music contained
themes of sadness, sorrow, and moral tribulations, which made Reznor s Hurt a perfect cover for Cash
( Johnny Cash ). Hurt is the type song someone listens to when they have the kind of day that makes
them feel alone. Everything you thought you knew was wrong, people stab you in the back, and
everything you used to believe in has vanished. You re left with nothing at the end of the day, feeling
depressed and miserable, that is what Hurt is about. Hurt makes you realize you re not the only one in
the world that suffers these pains because everyone goes through them. It then leaves the listeners

Safeguarding in Health and Social Care Essay
Safeguarding in Health and Social Care Under the Health and Social Care Act (2008), abuse is defined
as: Single or repeated act or lack of appropriate action occurring within any relationship where there is
an expectation of trust which causes harm or distress including physical, emotional, verbal, financial,
sexual, racial abuse, neglect and abuse through misapplication of drugs. Abuse can happen to anyone,
anywhere, at any time. However, it is so alarming that more and more elderly people suffer from
abuse everyday. Many elderly adults are being abused in their homes and even in care facilities such

This service user must also not be discriminated in spite of the condition. she has rights and deserves
some respect and humane treatment. Article 14 of Human Rights Act of 2008 states that everyone has
the right to be treated fairly regardless of gender, race, religion, sex, age, political views, disability or
anything else (Ministry of Justice, 2008). But if the care provider doesn t know how to respect these
rights, then he/she is likely to abuse the client. 1.2There are other risk factors that may lead to
incidence of abuse or harm to self and others. Lack of appropriate training and supervision can put not
only the client at risk for physical injury but the carer as well. As for Mrs. M, she needs careful
moving and handling method and appropriate equipment to avoid non accidental use of force in
turning her. Moreover, lack of staffs and poor working conditions can put the carer and client at risk
for abuse as well. Mrs. M being attended by only one carer is not a good practice and must not
accepted in the home and tolerated by the service user. This is always the norm in most care home
who do not have enough resources especially staff due to lack of funds of qualified staff . Assessing
and reviewing the risk involved in moving and handling the service user it is recommended that the
service user will need two staffs to assist her in feeding and moving, otherwise she will be left hurting
and bruised from rough handling and risk of fall.

Eyewitness Testimony Memory
In the late 19th century research on eyewitness, testimony memory began, psychologists had been
studying memory, and the findings became useful for forensic psychology and law. A central issue
with studying eyewitness memory and testimony is the ecological validity of lab studies. There are
relatively few real world eyewitness memory studies, and that causes problems for determining the
generalizability of findings in eyewitness memory. Coined by Wells (1978) estimator variables are
present at the time of a crime and cannot be changed (i.e. witness characteristics and the type of
offence) and system variables are factors that can be manipulated to affect eyewitness accuracy (i.e.
line up procedures and interview types). The system variables ... Show more content on

Biggers (1972) instructions were given to the jury that said witness confidence should be used to
assess witness accuracy. This statement was highly controversial at the time because there was only a
minor positive correlation between confidence and accuracy far from enough to say it was a
significant correlation. The U.S. Supreme Court outlined five criteria that should be used in the future
for evaluating the accuracy of eyewitness testimony. Preferable methods for evaluating the accuracy
include assessing the suggestiveness of the identification procedure, assessing the instructions given to
the witness, examine the structure of the photo or live lineup and ensure there was no suggestibility or
coercive methods. One criticism of the Biggers criteria is the lack of system variables. Most variables
within the Biggers criteria are estimator variables; which the justice system has no control over. To
reduce some of the problems that have been found with eyewitness memory and testimony, I
recommend not mistaking confidence for memory accuracy and using multiple techniques and
interviewing models to develop more accurate and consistent information (i.e. using the cognitive
enhanced interview model and combined with the Reid model or other models). Also, courts and
jurors need to test/check for suggestibility and coercive interview or investigative practices before

The Federal Reserve Board s Survey of Consumer Finances (SCF) was the study used on this article
for its main analysis. This survey dates from the 1992 to 2010, and includes the information of
household income, wealth holding, and other financial topics. In addition, the survey includes a
subsample of the most affluent households, and groups them into different categories according to
their wealth. However, the edge key that makes the SCF better than other surveys is the fact that it has
more information when it comes to the different financial situations of the elites. As a result, the SCF

investment behavior of the citizens in the United States.
This SCF survey serves the purpose of being the main method used in this article to test the
hypotheses presented by the author. For instance, to test the first hypothesis, that income concentration
at the top was driven by investment gains, the SCF tracks the top one percent s investment income.
Moreover, to test the second hypothesis, which top income households increasingly took on the
characteristics and behavior of investors, the status indicators of a variety of investors had to be

Does The Internet Foster Isola Essay example
One of the most talked, known and controversial issues today is the Internet. Internet is a large
network made up of a number of smaller networks. Almost every computer in an educational facility
and in home and small office use is connected to some type of a network. People spent a lot of time on
the Internet, which may make them seem isolated. However, the Internet does not foster isolation,
because it may be used for many different things like communication, education, problem solving and
etc.
The concept for the Internet was to make a link in to a new world, a world that has many different
opportunities within its self. To gives the people options to go to China, Italy, and Egypt without
spending a lot of money on the trip. To open ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Internet provides just that. This may seem like isolation because no physical contact is present,
and some or all of the things that are said might not be true. This is a misconception. People that are
talking face to face with one another might be lying or might not be; the same is said for the Internet
conversations. People whose physical handicaps make it difficult to form new friendships find that
virtual communities treat them as they always wanted to be treated (Rheingold 206). Equality and
understanding is the key, and the virtual community provides that and much more.
Advice is also one of the keys for equality and understanding. As we all know advice in today s world
is not free, and most of the time you need to make an appointment to get that expansive help. The
internet provides advice that is free and at the same time on the spot. In Urbana, Illinois, the Federal
Department of Education has set up a network for parents, teachers, community workers, and etc. that
have questions concerning children, financial assistance, educational assistance, and etc (Thomas).
The Internet is not only for fun and games, but it is also for problem solving of all types. This is not
the only site of this sort; Howard Reingold logged onto the Well, when he needed an answer in a
matter of seconds. What amazed him when he logged on wasn t just the speed with which we obtained

Research Paper On Magnets
Levitating is not only for magicians, but for magnets too. Scientist have been using magnetism to
create levitation for years. Recently, they have advanced their technology and expanded their
knowledge about magnetism and levitation and conformed them to be used in everyday life. Magnetic
levitation can be broken down into so many different topics such as magnetism and levitation, but
there is a much deeper meaning to magnetic levitation. A magnet is an object that has a magnetic field.
It can attract heavy objects such as iron and steel. A magnet can be in many shapes and sizes. The
word magnet came from the elderly Cretan shepherd, Magnes. He supposedly found a rock that had a
strong magnetic force. In the rock was large amounts of lodestone. The most common magnet used
today is the bar magnet. They can also be used in compasses. ... Show more content on

Magnetic levitation uses the natural repelling nature of the poles that are of the same kind to control
levitation. This can come in many different forms and all made differently. One way is permanent
magnets, which is the easiest of all the forms because it does not require any outside material to make
the levitation, but it is not very controllable. Magnetism is the main component in the levitation act.
Magnetism has been around ever since Earth was created. It is the force that is generated by the
motion of electrons within its atoms. Earth spins and has gravity because of magnetism. It is created
within the processes inside of earth, the core. Earths core is made of iron and ore that is constantly in a
spinning motion which forms a pure magnetic force. Magnetism also creates north and south poles

Christian Penance Beliefs

which Christians could avoid the consequences of sin . Penance was viewed as a practice or sacrament
to deal with sin and disease. Sin shapes one s desire and takes on its own shape and this was a way
that the Christian could take on some balance. The bishop or priest according article, read a passage to

The Impact Of Ancient Greek Theater And Tragedy

3/17/16
The Impact of Ancient Greek Theater and Tragedy Ancient Greek culture has influenced our modern
culture in many ways from philosophy to medicine to government. We still use many of their
concepts, technology, and even alphabet system. Without ancient Greece, our modern world would not
have advanced as far. A significant contribution of the ancient Greek culture to the world today is the
Greek theater, more specifically the structure of tragedy. Some contributions are the structure of
tragedy in modern literature, rise of opera, and the creation of the theater. Greek drama originally
started out as a ritual to honor the god of wine, Dionysus, by the cult of Dionysus. In the ritual, drunk
men dressed up in goat skin would sing and have dialogue in chorus to welcome the leader, the person
acting as Dionysus (Sayre 151). In these revel filled festivals, men dressed as satyrs, companions of
Dionysus who are half man and half goat, while the women dressed up as maenads, the immortal
followers of Dionysus. As the participants become drunk and filled with ecstasy, they transform into a
different identity from before. Later on this behavior became the satyr play, a form of Greek drama.
Tragedy is said to be originated from the Dionysian rites, where the name comes from tragoidos,
which means the goat song from the satyrs companions of Dionysus who are half man and half goat.
This could be in reference to the fact that Dionysus was also the

wonder of the world that is discovered through experiencing the real things that surrounds us. Thus, it
is certainly a very mesmerizing subject to learn as it arouses children s curiosity about the nature and
whatever happens in our day to day life. Therefore, science is equally considered as one of the
important subject like any other subjects in Bhutan.

Warren Satterlee s Leadership Style
Introduction
Satterlee has grouped leadership into three categories: leadership styles, and the theoretical basis of
leadership (Textbook reading, n.d.). This paper will highlight key components from within each

transformational leadership.
Leadership Styles
Warren Bennis provided several distinctions between a manager and a leader: a leader innovates,
develops new concepts, focuses on people rather than systems, inspires trust, has a long range

where employees can flourish. To elaborate on this point Linda Hill referenced Nelson Mandela s
concept of leading from behind. Linda noted, the key is to recognize that a leader is part of a web of
interconnected relationships whereby everyone has something to offer (Hill, 2017). Accordingly,
transformational leadership is centered around empowering others rather than focusing on power and
control over followers (Anderson, M., Sun, P., 2017, p.

Nova Scotia Mathematics Curriculum Analysis It is the messy, complicated picture of teacher work with multiple contexts, interpretations and impositions of curriculum that we seek (Ayers, W., Quinn, T., Stovall, D. O., Scheiern, L. (2008, p. 308). The Nova Scotia mathematics curriculum was designed based on several key assumptions and beliefs about learning. Not all of these assumptions and beliefs are in line with cognitive science literature. First, the Nova Scotia mathematics curriculum states that, students learn by attaching meaning to what they do and need to construct their own meaning of mathematics (Nova Scotia Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, 2014, p. 25). The North and the South were unwilling to compromise once tensions reached a high in the mid 1800 s leading to the Civil War. Already high tensions in the United States between the North and South, were pushed to a toppling point over the controversy about slavery. It was only a matter of time before the Nation would have to resolve this issue and attempt to unite the Country. While the North grew in manufacturing throughout the 1840 s and 1850 s, the southern economy remained stagnant. In fact, the slave states possessed only around 18% of the total national manufacturing capacity during this period. Over half of this manufacturing capacity was located in the border states, Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, and Missouri, whose populations had questionable loyalty to the South. These border states were only southern in some aspects, and thus, did not secede from the Union. Because of the lack of true southern manufacturing, it was hard to generate large profits, as all agricultural produce had to be shipped North in order to be manufactured. For example, most cotton from the South was sent to the North for spinning and manufacturing into clothing. From there, the garments created would be sent back to the South, at a marked up, higher price. The production difference between the South and the North made the South completely dependent on the North, economically. • 11. Laissez Faire Capitalism In The Gilded Age Before the Gilded Age, economic growth came to a halt because of the Depression of 1873. The depression led to the bankruptcy of many banks and railroads, and resulted in hundreds of thousands of people out of work. The Liberal Republican party also emerged as result of the depression. Liberal Republicans were strong advocates for laissez faire policies, where there is no government regulation in businesses or the economy. With this ideology, liberal republicans believed that it would help stimulate economic growth and create more jobs. While liberal republicans were unsuccessful in getting into office, they helped push the Democratic party (who were able to get control of the House in 1784) shift their agenda to supporting laissez faire capitalism. By 1879, The Depression of 1873 had ended and the second Industrial Revolution began. Laissez Faire capitalism became the dominating force of the Industrial Revolution that began during the Gilded Age. The idea that Laissez Faire capitalism could help bring prosperity to the common man was pushed by writer Horatio Alger, who published books that assured young readers that if they were honest, hardworking, and had a good character, they could leave poverty behind and succeed in the new competitive economy brought by the second industrial revolution. This idea was also reinforced through the success of industrialists like John D. Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, and Cornelius Vanderbilt, who came from humble backgrounds. Laissez Faire ... Further insights come from statistical analysis, probing questions of eccesiology directed at questioning if we superimpose ourselves in areas of polity, form, structure or tradition upon the cultures we reach. Goleman and Boyatzis write, ...certain things leaders do specifically, exhibit empathy and become attuned to others moods literally affect both their own brain chemistry and that of their followers (p. 76). This is a finding from research that shows how individual minds combine together to work as a single system. Furthermore, being a leader is more about developing an interest in people that will nurture positive feelings in them. This will lead them to provide better cooperation and support back to the leader (Goleman Boyatzis, 2008, p. 76). A typically leader is thought of a person who is in charge, controls others, assigns tasks, deadlines, and often is not respected by peers because they are harsh and demanding. Many critics have analyzed the characters in her novels as being comparable to people Austen actually knew in her lifetime. Moreover, critics say that Austen transcribed her own self through most of her main heroines, whether it was how she actually acted, or what she desired to be like in real life. However, not many critics have touched on the importance of the aunt figure that is present throughout Austen s novels. Most aunts throughout her novels, although not major characters, prove to be some of the most influential on the protagonists. I would argue that because Austen regarded herself as a responsible and integral part in all of her nieces and nephews lives, she transcribed this throughout her characters. Thus, by acknowledging the insight and importance of the aunts in her novels, we can actually learn more as to how Austen must have been when playing her real life role as Aunt Jane. Within her own life, Austen understood the importance of the extended family. She was an aunt to over 30 nieces and nephews, and often considered the favorite. Transcendent Themes In Hamlet Hamlet Transcendent Themes in a Disinterested Age Modernized versions of classic performances often run into the issue of being simply too long for a modern audience to sit through, with the dangers of audiences simply being too bored in an age where the average movie is about 110 minutes. By making decisions that appeal to the visual side of Hamlet as opposed to altering the auditory work in any way Kenneth Branagh succeeds in maintaining both artistic authenticity and audience in a way that has not been replicated in modern times. • 30. Shipping Patented By E Commerce Giant Anticipatory shipping is a method of shipping patented by e commerce giant Amazon in December 2013. During the normal shipping process, an e commerce retailer or goods manufacturer receives a customer order specifying the exact address where the product is to be delivered. The company then prepares the package and hands it over to a shipping service provider such as FedEx for delivery. The delay of multiple days between order placement and actual delivery is a major impediment to the wide acceptance of e commerce. It forces e commerce companies to offer incentives like cash on delivery to their customers. Anticipatory shipping is aimed at cutting the delivery time and improving the experience for e commerce users. With this technique, a company will ship products even before an order is placed by a customer. It would specify only a partial address indicating destination geographical area for delivery. While the packages are in transit, the company will employ advanced analytics and forecasting techniques to predict which customers would want to buy the shipped products. Then it could use targeted marketing and sales promotions to induce such customers to buy the products. If a customer indeed places an order, the company would provide exact delivery address to the shipping service provider and the products could be delivered much quicker, even on the same day. Eyewitness Testimony Memory In the late 19th century research on eyewitness, testimony memory began, psychologists had been studying memory, and the findings became useful for forensic psychology and law. A central issue with studying eyewitness memory and testimony is the ecological validity of lab studies. There are relatively few real world eyewitness memory studies, and that causes problems for determining the generalizability of findings in eyewitness memory. Coined by Wells (1978) estimator variables are present at the time of a crime and cannot be changed (i.e. witness characteristics and the type of offence) and system variables are factors that can be manipulated to affect eyewitness accuracy (i.e. line up procedures and interview types). This statement was highly controversial at the time because there was only a minor positive correlation between confidence and accuracy far from enough to say it was a significant correlation. The U.S. Supreme Court outlined five criteria that should be used in the future for evaluating the accuracy of eyewitness testimony. Preferable methods for evaluating the accuracy include assessing the suggestiveness of the identification procedure, assessing the instructions given to the witness, examine the structure of the photo or live lineup and ensure there was no suggestibility or coercive methods. One criticism of the Biggers criteria is the lack of system variables. Most variables within the Biggers criteria are estimator variables; which the justice system has no control over. To reduce some of the problems that have been found with eyewitness memory and testimony, I recommend not mistaking confidence for memory accuracy and using multiple techniques and interviewing models to develop more accurate and consistent information (i.e. using the cognitive enhanced interview model and combined with the Reid model or other models). A significant contribution of the ancient Greek culture to the world today is the Greek theater, more specifically the structure of tragedy. Some contributions are the structure of tragedy in modern literature, rise of opera, and the creation of the theater. Greek drama originally started out as a ritual to honor the god of wine, Dionysus, by the cult of Dionysus. In the ritual, drunk men dressed up in goat skin would sing and have dialogue in chorus to welcome the leader, the person acting as Dionysus (Sayre 151). In these revel filled festivals, men dressed as satyrs, companions of Dionysus who are half man and half goat, while the women dressed up as maenads, the immortal followers of Dionysus. As the participants become drunk and filled with ecstasy, they transform into a different identity from before. Later on this behavior became the satyr play, a form of Greek drama. Leadership Styles Warren Bennis provided several distinctions between a manager and a leader: a leader innovates, develops new concepts, focuses on people rather than systems, inspires trust, has a long range perspective, has his eye on the horizon, the leader asks what, and why (Satterlee, 2013, p. 102). The transformational leader is a leader who communications a vision the idea of giving employees something larger than themselves of which to be a part of (Satterlee, 2013, p. 111). A transformational leader will model exemplary behaviors and develop a collaborative culture without overlooking the fact that effective leadership is about everyone s involvement in the organization (Satterlee, 2013, pp. 111 112). This requires a leader to have effective communication skills and charisma. Charisma is an essential component of transformational leadership. It represents the degree to which a leader behaves in admirable ways that cause followers to identify with the leader (Anderson, M., Sun, P., 2017, p. 78). This implies, there must be a way to take charge in a situation while also creating an environment where employees can flourish. To elaborate on this point Linda Hill referenced Nelson Mandela s concept of leading from behind. Linda noted, the key is to recognize that a leader is part of a web of interconnected relationships whereby everyone has something to offer (Hill, 2017). Accordingly, transformational leadership is centered around empowering others rather than focusing on power and control over followers (Anderson, M., Sun, P., 2017, p. ...
