Descriptive Essay About Country
Often when the word country is brought up, people think of big trucks, the song Big Green Tractor by
Jason Aldean, taking a four wheeler through the mud, and sometimes even a confederate flag.
However, country can not be bought at a store. It s something to be born with. Country isn t just a
bunch of dumb rednecks, as it is normally associated with. Country runs much deeper. To me, Country
is a way of life that makes yourself work the hardest you can, love the most you can, and create
memories in the great outdoors that can never be forgotten. One of my favorite songs of all time
comes from Luke Bryan; That s What Country is . In the song, Bryan says It aint a rebel flag you
bought at the mall it s a hide away bed in an old horse stall, two kids getting caught stealing a Boones
Farm kiss. This is my favorite verse because Bryan takes the highly thought belief that country is
defined by rebel flags and simply says that it is not true. Instead of a confederate flag labeling country,
country is two kids making memories that they will never forget (Even thought it might not be
completely legal). Later in the verse, Bryan says It aint a John Deere cap that s never fell in the cotton,
it s a Jimmie Rodgers song that was long forgotten. Its homemade peach ice cream on sunburnt lips,
that s what country is. This relates to me directly. Every year my family and I will go out to the strip of
apple trees on the farm, pick the apples, peel them, and my dad cooks up applesauce

How Is Lennie Justified In Of Mice And Men
I m going for my shotgun. I ll kill the son of a bitch myself. (Steinbeck 96). In the book, Of Mice and
Men, Curley shows that he is a very truculent person. He wants to diminish Lennie, Lennie doesn t
realize there is a complication because he can not develop things in his mind as easily as the other
men. At the end of the story, Lennie makes a very bad mistake and in response he gets killed because
he becomes a danger to other men. Mercy killing in Lennie s situation was the better decision because
his friend George shot him. George was putting him out of his , if George wouldn t have killed Lennie

Drinking Water Supplies And Natural Aquatic Systems
Sydney Water Supplies By: Dilu Arulanandarajah Describe why drinking water supplies and natural
aquatic systems are subject to regular monitoring. It is very important for that water quality is
monitored in water supplies and natural aquatic systems because it an essential resource for living
organisms, industrial process, irrigation and domestic use. Water quality monitoring can be defined as
a process used to monitor surface and ground water by using different methods to gain information
about a body of water. Monitoring water quality is important for a number of reasons. Firstly so that
trends in the water quality can be detected. These trends are important in in determining the quality of
water such the mineral content within it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These pollutants can also be consumed by people and animals which will lead to sickness and disease.
By monitoring the water quality pollution and contamination can be prevented in its early stages and
which can also improve water quality. What and where is Sydney s Catchment area? Sydney
Catchment Authority defines a catchment as an area where water is collected by the natural landscape.
When water is collected by dams or weirs or by tapping into ground water it is called a water supply
system. Dams are usually built are large rivers to give a more permanent supply of water. There are 11
major dams in Sydney that store water in five catchments which are Warragamba, Shoalhaven, Upper
Nepean, Woronora and Blue Mountains. These 5 main catchments of water cover 16.000 km2 of land
and hold 2,500 billion litres of water while providing 4 million people with water. Warragamba
Catchment Warragamba Dam is the biggest catchment in Sydney and voters about 9,500km2. This
catchment is mainly used for cattle and sheep grazing because of the wilderness in the centre of the
catchment. More than 25% of the catchment is protected from human activities for over 70 years
because it is home to the spotted tail quoll, eastern pygmy possum, Rosenberg s goanna and three
threatened species of owls. The dam is created by damming the Warragamba River and flooding
Burragorang Valley. This makes the lake four times the size of

Poetry Compare And Contrast Essay
In the history of literature, different aspects are prevalent during the different time periods. The
Victorian poet Gerard Manley Hopkins wrote in the nineteenth century in England, which was a time
when the literature reacted against science. During this era, most people in England believed in God
being the creator. Conversely, Robert Frost is a modern poet that wrote in America during the
twentieth century. He has been described as the purest classical poet of America (Browning and
Cousin 243). Many authors throughout this time period rebelled against religion in their writing. The
poems Pied Beauty by Hopkins and Design by Frost are both characteristic of the time periods in
which the authors wrote them. These two poems have distinguishable similarities and differences, and
the main aspects of these poems that have similarities and differences is their imagery and theme. The
two poems Pied Beauty and Design have many similarities in their imagery. Both of these poems
contain natural imagery in great detail, and the imagery focuses on the unusual things about nature. A
vivid example from Beauty is I found a dimpled spider, fat and white (Frost 1). ¹ This quote describes
the appearance of the spider that is one of the characters that Frost includes in this poem. An example
from Pied Beauty is For skies of couple color as a brindled cow (Hopkins 2). ² Hopkins is painting a
picture of what he believes is beautiful in nature, which includes a

George Eastman Kodak s Effect On The Film And Photography...
In his lifetime, George Eastman once said, Light makes photography. Embrace light. Admire it. Love
it. But above all, know light. Know it for all you are worth, and you will know the key to photography
( George ). George Eastman, born in 1854, was an amateur photographer without much education,
who realized the technical potentials of dry plates, which are what photographs were printed on in
1871. He began experimenting with chemicals for developing photos and making dry plates in his
mother s kitchen, and in 1880, he created an effective formula for dry plates. In 1888, once he had
become more successful, he founded The Eastman Kodak Company, otherwise known as Eastman
Kodak, which was one of the leading competitors of camera and film manufacturing ... Show more

Beforehand, only skilled photographers were able to take photos due to a complicated process, but
Eastman changed that. In 1888, [George Eastman] addressed the enormously large and previously
untapped mass amateur market by isolating the technical complexities from picture taking (Cooper
329). Isolating the problems of photography made is possible for nearly everyone to take photos, and
not just the professionals. This meant that more people were able to indulge in this hobby and capture
more images for the world to see. Eastman also constructed his own camera and process to make
things less complicated for individuals who wanted to take photographs. [Eastman] added to the
company s established production of photosensitive materials by designing a simple to operate, highly
portable roll film camera, the Kodak, and by providing factory service that included the unloading and
reloading of the camera with film and the developing and printing of the pictures (Cooper 329).
Creating a camera that was mobile made it possible for more people to easily have a camera with them
at most times and take photos whenever they please, like how most people today carry devices in their
pockets that can take photos with the tap of a button. Not only that, but consumers could effortlessly
send their film to back to Eastman Kodak and have their photos developed, without having to do so
themselves as they would have before. While George Eastman was a significant figure in the
department of film, it was not the only industry that he

Edgar Poe Accomplishments
Edgar Poe was born in 1809 to David and Elizabeth Poe. Two short years later Edgar s mother died
and his father had vanished. Upon the death of his mother, Poe became a foster child, where soon John
and Frances Allan took him into their home and raised him. Gambling debts soon ended Poe s
financial support from the Allan s so he dropped out of University where he had been attending for a
year. Setting off to Boston Poe published the first of many collections of poems and decided to enlist
in the army. Realizing he was worthless he abandoned the army instead, turning to a life of conflict
and debt.
At the age of twenty two Poe published his second collection of poems while living poorly with his
aunt and cousin, Virginia. Poe became the editor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another look at Poe s outstanding variety and range of tales, represents the many genres he explored
and how important they are today. Murder mysteries is said to be one of his most considerable
accomplishments in literature. Although, they existed before Poe wrote about them his style and
originality prevailed over other writers. Moreover, Poe s fascinating and imaginative writing in
science fiction earned him a lasting impact there as well.
Having composed tales of terror and barbaric behavior treasure mystery became another genre that
can be traced back to Poe. He made people feel like they were actually apart of his stories. The style
and way the words flowed on the page made Poe s stories unforgettable to everyone who read them.
Much of his fame isn t just from the tales he wrote, a heap of his fame comes from the insight he had
into new advancements.
Applying most of his originality and strict style to poetry he showed how a poem like The Raven
could be popular but also, suit many critics taste. Poe s different approaches to literature earned him
the respect from numerous authors. In conclusion, Edgar Allan Poe wanted people to understand the
importance of the writing as well as of the creator. He has a lasting impact in the literature world as an

Face Communication Is More Effective Than Other Types Of...
There are many different points to consider when considering whether face to face communication is
more or less effective than other types of communication, such as the importance of facial expressions
and nonverbal body language. Communication would be considered effective when the most
information is conveyed between the people involved. Nonverbal body language is generally
nonverbal behaviours that can include interpersonal distance, body movement, facial behaviour, touch,
vocal behaviours, and others. (Hall, Coats and LeBeau, 2005) With nonverbal body language one
needs to consider what signals do people pick up from nonverbal communication as well as what
conversations lose with these signals. However, there is the other side to ... Show more content on

Another thing that is offered by face to face communication is that it offers something when
information is received and understood, without delay, something electronic forms of communication
cannot offer. Face to face communication also offers the opportunity to take turns when speaking and
in turn create a sequence whereas with electronic communications, such as emails or texts, the
conversation can be broken up by irrelevant interruptions and do not have the same effect. However
Clark Brennan, (1990) did look at how electronic communication can also be a more effective form of
communication. For example with emails and texts information will always be there and can be later
reviewed by other people in case there needs to be editing of information before sending. Face to face
communication can possibly be irreplaceable as well. Hallowell, (1999) looked at how face to face
communication is essential for human movement, an authentic psychological encounter that occurs
when two people share the same physical space as well as emotional and intellectual attention.
However on the other hand face to face communication can be disruptive and costly, and other forms
of communication might be preferable. Sproull and Kiesler, (1992) found that technological changes
can help people cross social, psychological and physical boundaries and can effect group behaviour
and decision

Queer Anthropology
The American Anthropological Association decided in 2010 to remove the word science from the
statement of the long range plan. This decision caused a long standing debate in the anthropological
community to reawaken with a forceful start. Different anthropologists claim how removing science
allowed more sub divisions of anthropology to be included under the statement umbrella. Others claim
how it diminished the name of what anthropology was as a science. This argument questions how
anthropology will thrive or unravel if it moves away from the sciences and into other areas of interest.
First, the debate of what the nature of anthropology could be said to begin in the era of Franz Boas.
Franz Boas stated how he expected anthropologists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Pathophysiology, Signs And Symptoms, And Treatment Of...
Title of the Paper in Twelve Words or Less Myasthenia gravis (MG) is an autoimmune disease that
affects nerve impulses to skeletal muscles. There are varying types of this disease and the symptoms
can range from mild, a person having peripheral skeletal muscle weakness, to severe, a person having
breathing problems (Sieb, 2014). Myasthenia gravis is diagnosed in 20 out of 100,000 people in the
United States, and women are more likely than men to have the disease (Meriggioli and Sanders,
2012). This autoimmune disease can happen at any age, but women generally have an earlier onset
than men; the mean age for females is 28 and 42 for males (Nair, Patil Chhablani, Venkatramani, and

Pathology of Myasthenia Gravis Since MG has subtypes the pathology of this disorder needs to be
analyzed by the autoantibody profile and the condition of the thymus (Meriggioli and Sanders, 2009).
Pathologic antibodies target certain areas of the postsynaptic site of the skeletal muscle. In addition
hyperplasia of the thymus or thymic tumors are vary influential in the disease process (Meriggioli and
Sanders, 2012). Abnormalities of the thymus can lead to the development of the autoantibodies that
target AChR, which ultimately triggers muscle weakness (Meriggioli and Sanders, 2012). . One
pathological path of MG starts with antibodies against AChR, and this is the most prevalent type of
MG. AChR myasthenia gravis occurs in 80% of patients that have this ocular or generalized disease,
and the autoantibodies that disrupt AChR functions can arise from abnormalities in the thymus (Nacu,
Anderson, Lisnic, Owe, Gilhus, 2015).
Normal function of the postsynaptic receptor involves binding with acetylcholine, which causes
depolarization and ultimately muscle contraction (Meriggioli and Sanders, 2012). In this autoimmune
disorder several actions can occur involving antibodies that oppose normal function of AChRs and
result in disruption and damage of the receptor. Anti AChR antibodies can block acetylcholine by
binding, cause complement lysis of motor endplate, or cause receptor degradation by triggering cross
linking (Meriggioli and Sanders, 2012).

Continuity In Baroque
In baroque music, continuity is highly emphasized and evident in the rhythm and melody of a piece.
Rhythmic patterns as well as the melody are repeated and constant. This continuity of rhythm and
melody is the continuity of dynamics in which the level of volume is constant and when the dynamic
shifts, the shift is often very sudden and abrupt forming a clear break from the continuity. The baroque
period can be divided into three phrases that are early (1600 1640), middle (1640 1690) and late (1690
1750).
In early baroque phrase, composers expressed extreme emotions, Monteverdi was representative who
expressed passion and dramatic contrast in his work. And at this phrase, lots of composers used
homophonic texture because they thought using

Edgar Allan Poe is a well known American author. His pieces are remembered by their innovative and

One theme frequently used by Poe in his writings is love. Although he was a dark person, Poe still
loved many people in his life. Before their relationship turned sour, Poe was incredibly grateful for
John Allan (Biography Edgar Allan Poe). Allan had taken Edgar in at a desperate time, and Poe loved
him as a father figure. Poe also loved his wife, Virginia, immensely. He loved Virginia so much that
when she died, he never recovered (Poet Edgar Allan Poe). His bad habits worsened and new ones
developed after her passing (Biography Edgar Allan Poe). Poe gives nearly all of his main characters
someone or something to love. So even though they are murderers or mentally unstable, they have
something that readers can relate to; they love. In The Oblong Box , Cornelius Wyatt loves his
deceased wife so much that he goes to every length possible to allow her casket to stay in his cabin
aboard a ship. Mr. Wyatt is seen sobbing over the box that holds his wife (Poe, The Complete Works
of Edgar Allan Poe 85). Poe understands this love and this pain, because of Virginia s death. In both

The United States Department Of Agriculture Essay
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) administers food assistance programs that help
provide food for low to no income families. It is their goal to increase food security and reduce hunger
by increasing access to food, a healthful diet, and nutrition education for low income Americans
(Caswell, 2013, para. 1). Some of the current nutrition assistance programs include the Supplemental
Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women,
Infants, and Children (WIC) (Caswell, 2013, para. 1). SNAP will be the primary nutrition assistance
program of the paper at hand. No matter how morally good it is to try to help reduce hunger and
increase food security within the United States, there are still many questions regarding issues with
SNAP. This paper will be discussing why there is such a strong support for the program, how it helps
the United States as a whole, problems with the program, and why some people are against SNAP.
The modern program was established as part of the War on Poverty in the 1960s but has undergone
mass changed since then (Edin, 2014). One being that the government gives out electronic debit cards,

Aim: to determine the kinetic parameters of the enzyme Alkaline phosphatase General Background
Alkaline Phosphatase is a group of enzymes found in certain tissues (including the bile duct, bones
and the liver). Based on its specific location each enzyme will present with a different structure. The

Focused background
Alkaline phosphatase will behave like a protein, due to the fact that it is a glycoprotein. Utilizing the
above mentioned information it is possible to test for the optimum pH. Alkaline phosphatase will
function optimally at a pH of around 10 (an alkaline pH). If one was to assess the range of the pH
pertaining to this enzyme, it can be seen that there will be a point where the enzyme has the greatest
activity, whereby it produces the highest concentration of the so called product . Due to the previous
knowledge of proteins, it can be deduced that at acidic pH the protein will have very low activity or
will denature. It should also be noted that once the optimal pH has been reached and surpassed, the
enzymes rate of activity will begin to reduce. As previously stated, temperature is another variable that
can affect the enzyme reaction rate. At low temperatures there will be little to no activity but as the
temperature is increased so the rate of activity will increase. However, just like pH, once the optimal
temperature is reached and surpassed, the enzyme will begin to break apart. The enzyme will be
experimentally tested using temperatures around room temperature (27℃). Due to the fact that there is
a human application the enzyme will continue to be tested until temperatures of human death (45℃).
After the testing is completed it can be deduced what temperatures create an optimum environment for
the normal functioning of the enzyme. One

Process Of Memory Essay
Many wonder the process of memory storage. People during a day use a lot of space of the memory to
storage which will be used weekly. Memory in the psychology terms means a process in which
information is encoded, stored, and retrieved. When the information is encoded, it will allow the
information from the outside world to reach the senses as chemical and physical stimuli forms. The
first stage is when the change in information so the memory can be put into an encoding process.
Second stage is a storage process. In this process we get to know the details of what information and
how much we have over periods of time. The last process is the retrieval of the information that we
have stored stage. Here we try to locate it and return it back to our consciousness but sometimes it is
worthless because it varies on the information type we had stored. There are three types of information
processing: first is Encoding and Registration where we receive, process and combine the received
information, then is Storage where creation of permanent record of the encoded information, last is
Retrieval, recall or recollection where we call back the stored information in response of cue so it can
be used in a process or activity. Sensory memory allows an individual s retrain impressions of the
sensory information after the original stimulus has ceased. An example of this sensory memory is a
child s ability to write letters and make circles from twirling a sparkler at night, because when it

The Optimal Strategy For Player One
a) The optimal strategy for player one to pursue would be to defect under any circumstance. If player
one were to cooperate, that minimum and maximum return would be one and three respectively.
Whereas if player one were to defect the minimum points he or she would earn is two, and the
maximum could potentially be four. b) Like player one, player two would benefit most if he or she
chose the strategy of defection. Similar to the situation in question a, the maximum and minimum
reward of defection outweighs the benefits of cooperation. If player two, like player one, were to
choose cooperation, and element of trust must be present if the goal was to yield the maximum three
points. It is human nature to be cautious and therefore, without any communication or social bond,
there is no reason to trust the other player. Ultimately, a strategy of defection is the most practical and
rewarding approach to pursue. c) If the player one had no doubt that player two would chose to
cooperate, the game becomes more difficult. Now that the shadow of doubt has been removed from
player one s reasoning, the approach behind player one s strategy is primarily fueled by motives. If
player one s motive is to secure the maximum points that he or she should choose to defect, if
however, player one s motives hinge on a belief in ethics or morality than he or she would most likely
cooperate. Seeing as the purpose of the game is to maximize his or her payout, the most prudent
strategy for player

Class Struggle
Introduction Class struggle is the active expression of a theoretical class conflict looked at from any
kind of socialist perspective. Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, leading ideologists of communism,
wrote The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggle . Marx s notion of class
has nothing to do with social class in the sociological sense of upper, middle and lower classes (which
are often defined in terms of quantitative income or wealth). Instead, in an age of capitalism, Marx
describes an economic class. Membership in a class is defined by one s relationship to the means of
production, i.e., one s position in the social structure that characterizes capitalism. Marx talks mainly

viewer wants to see. In addition, floods or monsoons are a lot easier to explain away as inevitable than
are riots or strikes. For the bourgeoisie, what would be the point in shaking the dominant image of a
country made of too much water and too many poor people ? However, it is not possible to completely
black out the existence of class struggle and some information gets through. The following is a resume
of news clips from various newspapers in December 1994: On December 4th 1994 thousands of
poorly paid and poorly equipped police officers, auxiliary militiamen (Ansars) mutinied, taking over
two barracks, 22 officers hostage and managing to take control of the headquarters and training centre
in the capital, Dacca. After 4 days, by which time the mutiny had spread to other provinces, repression
began in earnest. The army s special forces attacked the occupies barracks, using very significant
measures: artillery guns, rockets, helicopters, gas, armored cars... with an official toll of 4 deaths and
50 wounded. The first ideological image is therefore shattered: there are more than just disarmed,
ragged, soaking wet beggars in Bangladesh! A different technique is now needed to explain events
and, this time, the media choose to fall back on the traditional explanation of struggle between official
and opposition parties. Indeed, the mutiny in December 1994 in

Analysis Of Miss Julie By Stanislavski
Constantin Stanislavski (1863 1938) is considered as the father of realism. His system of acting uses a
balance between an actor s personal experience and an attempt to imagine being in their character s
situation. Stanislavski believed by preparing correctly with characterization, you can harness your
subconscious and create a truthful performance, Because the very best that can happen is to have the
actor completely carried away by the play. Then regardless of his own will, he lives the part, not
noticing how he feels, not thinking about what he does, and it all moves of its own accord,
subconsciously and intuitively. However, one cannot create subconsciously without inspiration, and
inspiration cannot be forced, so Stanislavski ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those feelings, drawn from our actual experience, and transferred to our part, are what give life to the
play . Also, by using emotional memory for the characterization, the actor will be able to understand
what Miss Julie is going through and the emotions she is required to display. However, Emotional
memory recall proved to be too exhausting for actors and produced negative results like tension and
hysteria. Stanislavski also realized that unconscious feelings needed to be coaxed, lured and enticed
gently, rather than forced out. In ordinary life, truth is what really exists, what a person really knows.
Whereas on the stage it consists of something that is not actually in existence but which could happen
. This line is especially important in realism, where the aim of the actor is to create the appearance of
reality or truth on stage. An actor does not actually believe in the truth of the events on stage, only in
the imaginative creation of them , this then posed the question of creating the appearance of reality for
the spectator. Stanislavski answered this question by creating the magic if , and thus, the character s
objectives drove the actor s physical action choices. The actor had to answer the question, if I were in
Miss Julie s position, what would I do? and this was a question that should be constantly asked during
rehearsal processes for characterization. By doing

The Importance Of Attention Autism In Special Schools
This action research project takes place in a primary special school. The school caters for 96 children
with a range of complex learning difficulties, across 3 sites, 2 of which are based within mainstream
schools. In 2010 I became aware of the Attention Autism approach after attending a masters
residential weekend at Birmingham University where I attended a presentation by Gina Davies
(Davies, 2010a). Following this I attended the Day 1 and Day 2 training days (Davies 2010b) and
Gina supported the setup of Attention Autism across the Key Stage 1 classes of the school. There was
an immediate benefit seen across the school with a significant rise in PSHE attention attainment. The

There is plenty of time to think and pauses are used to allow pupils the opportunity to spontaneously
use language, without pressure. Bellon, Ogletree and Harn (2000) used similar strategies to promote
spontaneous language in a child with autism: pausing; adapting language complexity and expanding
on the child s own utterances. Across the school everyone is much more aware of the use of language
that is appropriate to a child s needs. However, we identified times when it is appropriate to give
children time to watch something, and provide them with key words that naturally describe what is
happening. A discussion occurred around the importance of not always using this strategy and at many
points throughout the school day immersing children in a range of language

Brideshead Revisited Religion
In his bestselling book, Brideshead Revisited, Evelyn Waugh portrays the Catholic religion in several
different lights. Some of the characters are faithful Catholics who adhere strictly to the law and letter
of Catholicism. Others find the Catholicism restrictive and quickly discard it as old fashioned . While
some parts of the book are clearly Catholic, others are not as apparent and could even be perceived as
anti Catholic. However, beneath the overarching storyline, Waugh illustrates the Communion of
Saints, portraying different attributes of the Church in Purgatory, on Earth, and in Heaven in his
characters. Julia s free spirited, love thirsty character symbolizes the Church Suffering. Typical of the
modern individual, Julia searches ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Some differences between the two products are services or the market of goods that are produced for
that respective country s economy. However, the GNP does not include the annual foreign production
that is inherited by the domestic citizens, whereas the GDP does include the foreign productions that
are inherited by its domestic citizens. According to the table above, to determine the GNP and GDP
you will calculate the national product total from the national and personal income. National income is
the overall annual value of goods and services within a respective country economy. The chart shows
that in 2016, the GNP was $7,864.80 higher than the national income. National income is broken
down into ten categories (compensation of employees, rents, interest, proprietor s income, corporate
income taxes, dividends, undistributed corporate profits, indirect business taxes, consumption of fixed
capital and net foreign factor income). However, the employee compensation makes up the largest
portion of the national income. In my opinion, I believe this to be true, because the economy is valued
by its population and the services that are provided and goods that are sold. This can t happen without
having citizens gainfully employed, which in return will need to be compensated for the work they are

how much of the actual truth is revealed? Could there be more than just the truth laying beneath the
surface? These questions are often pondered upon by the reader, yet very few books are able reveal
truths that astounds the world. The book Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China written by Jung

lived under the reign of Mao and this book provides the knowledge, This book is a factual memoir in
which incorporates the hidden history of China. Before the reading of the book, many would not have
thought of Mao as a tyrant. Particularly the natives of China are informed little about the negative
aspects of Mao. Even today, his picture still looks down on the Tiananmen Square in Beijing. This
book also interpreted in the changes of women s lives. Women were basically products of trade with
little to no rights back then, just like Yu Fan. She was offered to General Xue as a concubine for
fortune by her father and she had no rights to ask General Xue of his matters. Slowly it progressed to
where women could participate in government, just like De Hong who held provincial position. Wild
Swans is a book worth to be read. It may not be suited for all readers but it tells a story that all should
know. Jung Chang completely accomplished her purpose in writing the book. Many people now know
the actual life of Chinese and she is respected for writing the book. This book would be most suited

suspenseful and tragic pieces. However, one who has Chinese background would be able to

Religious Tolerance In The Film Knocking
We watched the film Knocking in class, it was based on Jehovah s Witness experiences and it
demonstrated to us some of the challenges they face day to day. New religious movements such as
Jehovah s Witnesses face religious tolerance from everyone around them even those in their family.
Religious Tolerance can be defined as allowing people to believe or practice which ever religion they
choose. If there is a country with a State religion then religious tolerance will allow other religions to
be there.
In the film particularly, religious tolerance was portrayed by family, friends, and hospitals. There was
the Mother that didn t agree with her son s choice to become a Jehovah s witness because of how the
religion isolates them from other family during holidays, birthdays and such gatherings. There was the
family of Seth Thomas, the young 23 year old who needed the liver transplant but he had difficulty
getting the hospital to do it with no blood. Some hospitals even turned him down. Jehovah s witnesses
are not allowed to take blood out or put blood into the body, but that doesn t mean this young man
should have to die due to his beliefs. His mother was a dedicated Jehovah s Witness, she would rather
have her son not have the surgery he needs to survive if they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Legal limits such as Hospitals refusing to treat Jehovah s Witnesses because of their beliefs were
placed upon Seth. In my opinion the government or a hospital should not be able to decide to refuse
treatment for people based on their beliefs. This religion in particular faces daily challenges each day
such as struggling to be understood. If there is a way for more people to listen and not just blow them
off because of the stereotypes I think this religion would be more successful in today s

From 1800 to 1900, the United States population grew by more than 70 million people, and with many
people moving towards an urban life, cities alone grew by about 15 million between 1880 and 1900.
The fertile capitalistic economy allowed for the growth of large corporations, and with the various
innovations that appeared during this period, the U.S. also began to move towards modern
industrialization. This unprecedented rate of advancement also brought in some less desirable
consequences, such as political corruption and harsh working conditions. This, in turn, ushered in the
Progressive Era, as the country was swept into a new direction by reformers, who pushed for the

Parmalat s strategy at this point relied on building a network of off shore mail box companies so that
the company could conceal the losses, being the largest bond players Bank of America, J.P. Morgan

in fact they were absolutely nothing. (Claudio Celani, 2004)
Claudio Celani suggests in his article that what strikes one is not only the dimension of the scheme,
but the arrogance of its authors. For instance, one of the offshore mail box firms used to channel the
liquidity coming from the bond sales was called Bucanero, which means black hole ! Appropriately,

Celani suggests, in its finances. (Claudio Celani, 2004)
For the next years to come there was a marathon of court cases on both continents (American and
European), and so it was discovered that nearly €4bn of funds in a Bank of America account did not
exist. Though the firm admitted to have a certain amount of debts it was later seen in 2004 that it had

How Did Islam Influence Trans Saharan Trade
Following the advent of the current era, West Africa with the Western Sudan empires of Ghana,
Songhai, and Mali was the center of outside contact and influence with the spread of Islam and being a
center of the Trans Saharan trade. Being a part of the Trans Saharan trade gave West Africans a
connection with those outside the continent, namely in Europe and Southeast Asia. It also gave the
opportunity for things other than goods to be exchanged like Islam. Africans adopted and shaped

The effects of the Trans Saharan trade are evident through looking at the currencies used in Western
Africa. Igbo Ukwu, in modern day Nigeria, shows that by the ninth century West Africa was not
isolated from the outside world, as for some its trading goods included over one hundred thousand
glass beads, mostly from Egypt and India. The Almoravids also exported gold coins to infiltrate
Europe s economy by accompanying its silver currency. During the height of Western African
empires, Africans had a lot of interaction with people outside the continent that they were both
influenced by and affected themselves.
East Africa after the sixteenth century had grown to be an international center where many outsiders
would come to trade. By the 1500s, East Africa was starting to become a thriving trading center, with
several Europeans and Southeast Asians coming to stay for several months due to the strong monsoon

The Solstice Flood Of Duluth
On July 19 20 2012, Duluth, MN experienced 10 inches of rain which led to one of the worst inland
flood events in American history. The St. Louis River rose over 10 feet and caused significant damage
to roads, bridges, and private property (Czuba et al. 2012). Erosion carried massive sediment loads
into Lake Superior, posing a risk to both terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems in the process. The flash
flood shook the community and negatively impacted the environment to such a degree that recovery is
still a work in progress. The Solstice Flood, as it is known, forced the community to evaluate its
outlook and preparations surrounding natural disasters. As global climate change continues, the
frequency and magnitude of events like this are going to increase (IPCC, 2014). Unfortunately, the
2012 Solstice Flood in Duluth is symptomatic of how poorly we as a country, and perhaps as a
species, have prepared for disasters that will only be magnified going forward.
Anatomy of the Flood As described above, the flash flood was caused by intense rainfall over several
days during June 2012. The torrential rains led to record breaking discharges in the Knife and St.
Louis Rivers. The discharges from the Knife River and St. Louis River peaked at 25,000 ft3/s and

rivers also experienced unusually high flow volumes. As rain rushed into and through these systems,

Farenheit 451- Lit By Ray Bradbury
Fahrenheit 451 Lit. Critique
The title of the book I read was Fahrenheit 451. The book was written by Ray Bradbury and was
published in 1951. This book is about a dystopian America where there is extreme censorship and any
media (mainly books) that questions the government is burned by a branch called the Firemen. The
main character whose name is Guy Montag is a fireman who begins to realize that what he s doing is
wrong after meeting a young girl named Clarisse. As the book goes on it is revealed that Montag had
been stashing books in his vents for a long time and tried to show them to his wife, but she doesn t
want anything to do with it. His wife Mildred towards the end of the book actually ends up reporting
him to the Firemen, when she does this Montag is at work and shows up on the call to witness his wife
get into a taxi and leave him. Then to throw salt in the wound the Fireman Captain Beatty forces
Montag to burn his own house to the ground before being arrested for possession of illegal media, but
after Montag burns the house he turns on Beatty burning him with the flamethrower and knocking out
the other two firemen before fleeing. After having finished reading it I thought that this book was
really good, it kept my attention the whole time and had a big surprise at the end. (The full ending is

Essay on The Pros and Cons of Franchising
Advantages Disadvantages of Franchising
Franchising is a continuing relationship in which the franchisor (the owner of a company) provides a
licensed privilege to the franchisee
(the buyer) to do business and offers assistance in organising, training, merchandising, marketing, and
managing in return for a consideration. It is a form of business by which the franchisor of a product,
service, or method obtains distribution through affiliated dealers (franchisees).

As a result, expansion can proceed at a much faster pace than would otherwise be possible, enabling
the franchisor to achieve increased market share whilst benefiting from economies of scale.
(http://www.butterfield.co.za) Finally, franchisors can benefit from the cultural knowledge and know
how of local managers. This can be helpful in lowering the risk of business failure in unfamiliar
markets, as well as creating a competitive advantage.
Franchising offers franchisees the advantage of starting up a new business quickly based on a proven
trademark and way of doing business, as opposed to building a new business from scratch. The
franchised business is based on a proven idea and has an existing customer base, therefore making it
much easier to sell your product than it would if you were to start up your own business. By buying
into a franchise you are gaining the benefit of the franchisors experience as well as the name and
reputation that has already been built up by the franchisor. Therefore it is no wonder that according to
the U.S. Commerce Department, an estimated 95% of franchises succeed, whereas only 25 35% of
independent businesses succeed.
(http://money.howstuffworks.com) It is also not surprising that franchising makes up for about 3.2
percent of all businesses and 35 percent of all retail and service revenue in the United States, proving
that it is big business.

How Did Buddy Bolden Influence African American
Music is a simple part within everyone s lives; whether you re young or old, black or white, music has
a place within your heart. Music is a diverse world within itself, including many different genres like
jazz, pop, rock, classical, etc. Jazz is the only music genre that Americans themselves invented.
African American culture is where this music started, though. A very influential African American
character in our history is Buddy Bolden. He was an enormous influence on the jazz cultures in
American history. Buddy Bolden is also the first known person to ever play jazz music, crediting him
as the original creator.
Charles Joseph Buddy Bolden was born September 6th, 1877 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was born
to Westmore Bolden and Alice née Harris. His father passed away when Charles was only 6 years old.
He grew up to play the cornet and the ragtime style of Jass , which later became known as Jazz.
Bolden was an avid cornet player and enjoyed experimenting with different playing styles within his
music. He wrote his own song, which is labeled now as Buddy Bolden Blues , but was originally
called Funky Butt back in his time. This song was considered extremely offensive to some people, as

The Components Of Wine Prices
Components of Wine Prices When people walk in a wine shop or grocery store s wine aisle, there are
often hundreds of wines with different price on display. The consumer may wonder what is the
difference between a thousand dollar wine and a twenty dollar wine. On the bottle of wine, a typical
label shows a lot of information. How to use those informations to evaluate the true value of wine
definitely is a challenge. Even though consumer can easily find the quality rating of wine which
published by various wine writers and critics; however, the wine writers opinion can influence
consumer perceptions. Therefore, analysis the internal and external impact on wine prices helps
consumer make a wise decision. According to a wine marketing research in Australian Marketing
Journal, wine s brand name, geographic region, grape types, fermentation method and vintage date are
the main components that affect wine prices (Ling and Lockshin 19). Knowing where a bottle of wine
comes from, what types of grape used and the reputation of its winery can help consumer have an idea

Dav Pilkey s Captain Underpants
Captain Underpants is a series of semi autobiographical children s novels by American author, Dav
Pilkey. They follow the story of two fourth grade boys, George Beard and Harold Hutchins, two best
friends that are seen as the class clowns or troublemakers of their school, Jerome Horwitz Elementary.
They are constantly pulling pranks including changing a sign that says Please Wash Your Hands After
Using The Toilet into Please Wash Your Hands In The Toilet . George and Harold write a comic series
together about a superhero by the name of Captain Underpants who wears nothing but his underwear
and a red cape. The pair accidentally hypnotizes their ill natured principal, Mr. Krupp, into believing
that he is Captain Underpants and fights crime ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The necessity of having power over children is an effort to maintain the status quo. There is a need to
control the environment, especially that of elementary school in order to keep the peace and maintain
some semblance of order. It s always stood that children are expected to look up to and respect all
people in positions of authority. But, as stated in Gibron s article, teachers and administrators believe
that because the children enjoy the books, and laugh at them, that they identify with the protagonists
and their adventures, and they fear that children will try to recreate those scenarios. It becomes a threat
to the status quo when children start experiencing that inner freedom that reading Captain Underpants
gives children (Gibron). Although the books have been criticized for their anti authoritative tone , this
isn t why the books were banned in Naugatuck, Connecticut. Don t forget how does this tie into one of
the readings we ve done in

Essay About Work
Work can cause many issues with oneself and society. There can be a inner struggle in someone if they
don t like their job. Society can cause the discussion of jobs to become a controversial topic. In the
poems Lady In The Pink Mustang by Louise Erdrich, The Restaurant Business by James Tate, and So
Mexicans Are Taking Jobs From Americans by Jimmy Santiago Baca, the authors use divisions and
conflicts to make readers see a bigger picture.
In the poem The Lady in the Pink Mustang by Louise Erdrich the speaker tells the story of a women in
a pink mustang whos job seems to be working as a prostitute. Erdrich wants the readers to get a sense
that the women does not care much for her job but continues to do it. It can be understood that ...

None of these poems have a hidden meaning and each author had a significant way of showing the
meaning. Erich and Baca follow the template of poetry. Whereas, Tate uses the template of poetry in
story form. In all of these works readers can find that the speakers have an argument. In The Lady In
The Pink Mustang the speaker explains in the end that she is not proud of her job but she has to make
a living somehow and until she runs out of money she will do what she has to. In The Restaurant
Business Tate parallels to Erdrich by having the restaurant owner pose the argument that though he
works for his own sadness, if he choices to leave the business he loses his seat of having a title and
even though he hates to work that s the only bit of happiness he has left. Lastly the speaker in Baca s
poem constructs a real life argument and turns the whole piece of work in a political poem by arguing
the discussion of jobs in America. All of these works show that work is hard but it is real and
sometimes it is not a realistic job and not everyone will agree with the job title or job

The Causes Of Urbanization And Poverty
Urbanization causes financial problems to the overwhelming majority of the people. This is because
problems with money are widespread in urban areas. First of all, urbanization leads to the extreme
growth of unemployment. For instance, as reported by the International Labour Organization,
International unemployment rose to 210 million people in 2010 (David Vicente 2012, p.154).
According to David Vicente (2012, p.156) vast amounts of unemployment results in human resources
not being used efficiently across cities which cause social inequality. This evidence shows that
urbanization causes unemployment. Urbanization leads to significant overpopulation in the central
cities, which causes high competition and as a result lower job opportunities for most people in the
labor market. As businesses and governments cannot produce enough jobs to meet the demand of a
fast growing population, a lot of individuals are faced with a shortage of employment and deprived of
a vital source of income. As a result, lack of revenue leads to inequality in society. Secondly,
urbanization leads to a lack of affordable housing for the overwhelming majority of urban people.
According to Gan (et al., 2017, p.427) in the forthcoming future, the global urban population will
reach around 6.3 billion people in 2050, and about 94% of them will be in developing countries.
Furthermore, approximately 828 million people from developing countries currently live in inadequate
housing and this number will rise

Argumentative Speech On Torture Animals
Imagine living life freely, having with no care in the world. Then suddenly it is all taking away. Days
after days, drugs and filth fill the air. Stuffed in cages that are so vulgar, crowded, and disheveled,
deaths occur from that alone. Imagine hearing the screams from others as you wait to face the fate no
one has control over. This is the reality of animals captured for their fur.
Preview of Main Points: Many animals are harmed and treated so inhumanely it ruins their spirits.
Faux fur is an alternative to choose to help and support the humane treatment of animals.
Thesis: The selling of real fur must be banned due to the cruelty and torture animals face just for
designer coats or bags.
BODY
Main Point/Reason 1: Fall is one of the most beloved seasons. The weather is cooling down and
warm, furry coats are breaking free from the dusty closets. However, this time of exciting emotion is
not what the animals with furry coats share. Many animals including; foxes, mink(LCA). China is the
largest fur exporter, which gives the United States more than half of the finished fur garments that
were torn from animals. There is a shocking over two million cats and thousands of dogs bled to
death, skinned alive, and hanged just for the skin each animal attains. These are household pets being
tortured for the soft, lovable fur they have no control or power over. The sad truth is these cruel and
horrid people have no consequences to their unacceptable behavior(Nine Shocking Fur Facts).
Imagine a beloved and admired pet being tormented by strange people with unexisted feelings or
emotion. Why is this heartless and wicked practice still in society? Another heartbreaking fact is that
85% of fur industry s skin come from animals who are held captive on fur factory farms, which are
crammed into dangerously crowded, wire cages and skinned alive. The cold, damp, and sickly cages
animals are held in are 12 by 18 inches which are outdoor exposing each animal to the harsh elements
of nature. Those measurements of confinement can lead to high stress level and at extreme measures,
cannibalism. About 10 million animals die each year due to the stress and illness alone(LAC). The
handlers of the fear filled animals, only care about how

Similarities And Differences Between Coming To America And...
The following essay will compare and contrast two cultural productions that represent and depict
Africa. The films Coming to America by John Landis and The Gods Must Be Crazy by Jamie Uys
have similarities and differences according to the meaning of Africa. The similarities of these films are
the use of the current English language, religion, comedy relief, traditions, and interpretation of
Africans single story . The differences of these films are the time period, locations, clothing,
articulation, and reputation. The cultural productions of Coming to America and The Gods Must Be
Crazy can be compared and contrasted because both films exhibit a relationship that depicts how we
think about Africa not as a place, but as people as a whole in the modern world. The depiction of the
movie Coming to America and The God Must Be Crazy can be compared and contrasted on the films
locations. In Coming to America Prince Akeem Joffer is from the nation of Zamunda, which is a
fictional location. This location is only seen in the beginning and end of the film. The nation of
Zamunda depicts the idea of Africa as a land of substantial wealth. In addition, Africa as people has
the highest level of status and rights like having arranged marriages. In contrast, The Gods Must Be
Crazy is set in Botswana, South Africa in the Kalahari Desert. ... Show more content on

Africans were common to serving under. As a result, the deaths seen on film are rather critical and
relevant to recognizing the meaning of Africa s labor forced because it served a purpose for
developing the ideas about the single

Ted Turner Research Paper
On November 19, 1938 in Cincinnati, Ohio, a young man named Ted Turner was born. Ted Turner
later became one of the biggest entrepreneurs in the world. His net worth is roughly 2.2 billion U.S
dollars. Ted Turner s real name is Robert Edward Turner III and he is the eldest child of Robert
Edward and Florence Tuner. Ted s father had owned a company called Turner Advertising which sold
billboard advertisements. Ted s father suffered from bipolar depression and often vented his anger by
physically abusing Ted. Ted s father later enrolled into the Navy in 1941 and took his whole family,
except Ted, to the Gulf Coast. Ted felt abandoned by his family and so he stayed at a Cincinnati

Ted showed a natural talent for business as soon as he started to work because he more than doubled
the office s revenue in his first year. When Ted s father bought out a rival company, his company went
into debt and also went into a tenuous financial condition. Fearing that he would have to file
bankruptcy and struggling with bipolar, Ted s father shot himself to death in March of 1963. Ted
overcome this loss and threw himself into his father s work. He took over the roles of CEO at Turner
Advertising and renamed the business to Turner Communications in the late 1960 s as the company
was buying out competitors. By 1970, Ted had grew to company so large that he achieved his goal of
owning the biggest advertising company in the southeastern United States. Ted later sought into
buying into television by purchasing the rights of old movies and situation comedies. This decision
worked out for Ted s company because it was highly profitable. Turner then decided he wanted to
reach out to a larger audience by using satellite technology. He once again changed the name of his
company to Tuner Broadcasting Company. In the late 1970 s Tuner had another idea in mind, and that
idea was an all news network. He made this idea become reality and named it CNN. CNN first aired in
1980 and was a huge success. In 1985, Ted saved money and later bought the company Metro

Professional Goal Analysis
Statement of Professional Goals I consider myself a born and raised New Yorker, but that statement is
only half true. My parents emmigated from Bangladesh to Canada in the late 1980s, and a few years
later in 1994, I was born there. I was brought up there for only 6 months of my life before moving and
staying in New York. It may not be the most interesting thing in the world, but rarely do I ever meet
any Canadians, unless I am back home visiting family. My parents did not know what kind of
aspirations to have when they relocated and immigrated to the United States. A viable standard of
living and a sufficient amount of money in the bank was their daily motivation to achieve the
American Dream. Their actions have not been solely for their benefit as they only ever wanted to

I had not done it for the money, but rather for the experience of constantly being in an environment
where I had to interact with people. I learned a lot in the way of using computerized systems for
maintaining inventory, understanding company finances, and organizing stock. I learned to speak to
people and deal with situations where the customer may not always be right. Even so, I was able to
find composure and handle situations in a professional manner. My uncle also owns two other
pharmacies where I offered my assistance, especially after significant company setbacks. This work
experience is partly the reason why I chose my major in Economics because it opened my mind to the
prospects of potentially having my own business one day too. No one small aspect can be overlooked
and that is what majoring in Economics has taught me. Understanding macroeconomic and
microeconomic concepts have allowed me to see the two tiered layers of the financial world, and all

Interest Groups Summary
According to Chapter 9 of Patterns of Democracy by Arend Lijphart titled Interest Groups: Pluralism
versus corporatism, the author sought to explain the fifth and last difference between majoritarian and
consensus democracy in terms of interest groups. Majoritarian democracies tend to have pluralism
tendencies insofar as interest groups while consensus democracies tend to have corporatism tendency.
Below, the chapter s detailed analysis of the subject matter will be extensively be judged. The
strength, the weaknesses and suggestions on how those weaknesses could have been prevented will be
discussed. The author effectively provided scholars from both sides of an argument. The effects of
corporatism on economic conditions is one example. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Gender Stereotypes In Trifles By Susan Glaspell
In earlier cultures, women s job was to bear children, cook, clean, and to be submissive to their
husband. A man s job was to work, take care of the farm, and was to be the dominant individual in the
marriage. With both the husband and wife doing their daily duties, the household would go smoothly.
However, certain men in the 19th century began to degrade women. Making women feel worthless
and unimportant. Wives, daughters and sisters were left at home all day to oversee the domestic duties
that were increasingly carried out by servants (The British Library). In the play Trifles, the play writer
wants the audience to believe that stereotypes is inappropriate because it is wrong to assume
something about an individual based solely on their gender. Throughout this play, written by Susan
Glaspell, there are several instances where both genders were not portrayed as equal. In the play, Hale
stated Well, women are used to worrying over trifles (Glaspell, 25). The word trifles means something
unimportant or of little value (Webster s II New College Dictionary). Here, Hale is basically saying
that women worry over the small things in life, instead of focusing on what really matters. Later on in
the play, the women focusing over trifles is of great benefit to the women, and it allows the women to
have an upper hand over the men. Traditionally a middle class girl in Western culture tended to learn
from her mother s example that cooking, cleaning, and caring for children was the behavior expected
of her when she grew up (WIC Women s History in America). This statement links to the play in many
different ways. It is evident that the women had the job of making sure the house looked presentable
to any family and/or guests that entered the home. In the play, the County Attorney says Dirty towels!
Not much of a housekeeper, would you say, ladies? (Glaspell, 25). In this line, it is evident that the
County Attorney expected that Mrs. Wright should have always had clean towels under the sink
instead of dirty ones. It is then that Mrs. Hale chimed in to say Those towels het dirty awful quick.
Men s hands aren t always as clean as they might be (Glaspell, 25). Here, Mrs. Hale is trying to take

There is a sense of pride to where one comes from whether it is because of the culture, people or the
environment. There is a beauty that stands out about where we call home. However, leaving home is
often essential in acquiring a better living and growth. In the short story Two Kinds the author, Amy
Tan depicts a story of migration and the expectations. The story is told in first person of Ni kan a
young girl who is being brought up as a second generation immigrant. There is a sense of non
acceptance that seem to form over time based on the idealization of America, the land of
opportunities. The author really embraces how important setting is to growth and understanding of an
individual. Ni kan s mother was a woman of adversities and tribulations.

  • 2. Descriptive Essay About Country Often when the word country is brought up, people think of big trucks, the song Big Green Tractor by Jason Aldean, taking a four wheeler through the mud, and sometimes even a confederate flag. However, country can not be bought at a store. It s something to be born with. Country isn t just a bunch of dumb rednecks, as it is normally associated with. Country runs much deeper. To me, Country is a way of life that makes yourself work the hardest you can, love the most you can, and create memories in the great outdoors that can never be forgotten. One of my favorite songs of all time comes from Luke Bryan; That s What Country is . In the song, Bryan says It aint a rebel flag you bought at the mall it s a hide away bed in an old horse stall, two kids getting caught stealing a Boones Farm kiss. This is my favorite verse because Bryan takes the highly thought belief that country is defined by rebel flags and simply says that it is not true. Instead of a confederate flag labeling country, country is two kids making memories that they will never forget (Even thought it might not be completely legal). Later in the verse, Bryan says It aint a John Deere cap that s never fell in the cotton, it s a Jimmie Rodgers song that was long forgotten. Its homemade peach ice cream on sunburnt lips, that s what country is. This relates to me directly. Every year my family and I will go out to the strip of apple trees on the farm, pick the apples, peel them, and my dad cooks up applesauce ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Poetry Compare And Contrast Essay In the history of literature, different aspects are prevalent during the different time periods. The Victorian poet Gerard Manley Hopkins wrote in the nineteenth century in England, which was a time when the literature reacted against science. During this era, most people in England believed in God being the creator. Conversely, Robert Frost is a modern poet that wrote in America during the twentieth century. He has been described as the purest classical poet of America (Browning and Cousin 243). Many authors throughout this time period rebelled against religion in their writing. The poems Pied Beauty by Hopkins and Design by Frost are both characteristic of the time periods in which the authors wrote them. These two poems have distinguishable similarities and differences, and the main aspects of these poems that have similarities and differences is their imagery and theme. The two poems Pied Beauty and Design have many similarities in their imagery. Both of these poems contain natural imagery in great detail, and the imagery focuses on the unusual things about nature. A vivid example from Beauty is I found a dimpled spider, fat and white (Frost 1). ¹ This quote describes the appearance of the spider that is one of the characters that Frost includes in this poem. • 6. George Eastman Kodak s Effect On The Film And Photography... In his lifetime, George Eastman once said, Light makes photography. Embrace light. Admire it. Love it. But above all, know light. Know it for all you are worth, and you will know the key to photography ( George ). George Eastman, born in 1854, was an amateur photographer without much education, who realized the technical potentials of dry plates, which are what photographs were printed on in 1871. He began experimenting with chemicals for developing photos and making dry plates in his mother s kitchen, and in 1880, he created an effective formula for dry plates. In 1888, once he had become more successful, he founded The Eastman Kodak Company, otherwise known as Eastman Kodak, which was one of the leading competitors of camera and film manufacturing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Beforehand, only skilled photographers were able to take photos due to a complicated process, but Eastman changed that. In 1888, [George Eastman] addressed the enormously large and previously untapped mass amateur market by isolating the technical complexities from picture taking (Cooper 329). Isolating the problems of photography made is possible for nearly everyone to take photos, and not just the professionals. This meant that more people were able to indulge in this hobby and capture more images for the world to see. Eastman also constructed his own camera and process to make things less complicated for individuals who wanted to take photographs. [Eastman] added to the company s established production of photosensitive materials by designing a simple to operate, highly portable roll film camera, the Kodak, and by providing factory service that included the unloading and reloading of the camera with film and the developing and printing of the pictures (Cooper 329). Creating a camera that was mobile made it possible for more people to easily have a camera with them at most times and take photos whenever they please, like how most people today carry devices in their pockets that can take photos with the tap of a button. Not only that, but consumers could effortlessly send their film to back to Eastman Kodak and have their photos developed, without having to do so themselves as they would have before. • 8. Face Communication Is More Effective Than Other Types Of... There are many different points to consider when considering whether face to face communication is more or less effective than other types of communication, such as the importance of facial expressions and nonverbal body language. Communication would be considered effective when the most information is conveyed between the people involved. Nonverbal body language is generally nonverbal behaviours that can include interpersonal distance, body movement, facial behaviour, touch, vocal behaviours, and others. (Hall, Coats and LeBeau, 2005) With nonverbal body language one needs to consider what signals do people pick up from nonverbal communication as well as what conversations lose with these signals. However, there is the other side to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another thing that is offered by face to face communication is that it offers something when information is received and understood, without delay, something electronic forms of communication cannot offer. Face to face communication also offers the opportunity to take turns when speaking and in turn create a sequence whereas with electronic communications, such as emails or texts, the conversation can be broken up by irrelevant interruptions and do not have the same effect. However Clark Brennan, (1990) did look at how electronic communication can also be a more effective form of communication. For example with emails and texts information will always be there and can be later reviewed by other people in case there needs to be editing of information before sending. Face to face communication can possibly be irreplaceable as well. Hallowell, (1999) looked at how face to face communication is essential for human movement, an authentic psychological encounter that occurs when two people share the same physical space as well as emotional and intellectual attention. However on the other hand face to face communication can be disruptive and costly, and other forms of communication might be preferable. Sproull and Kiesler, (1992) found that technological changes can help people cross social, psychological and physical boundaries and can effect group behaviour and decision ... • 10. Queer Anthropology The American Anthropological Association decided in 2010 to remove the word science from the statement of the long range plan. This decision caused a long standing debate in the anthropological community to reawaken with a forceful start. Different anthropologists claim how removing science allowed more sub divisions of anthropology to be included under the statement umbrella. Others claim how it diminished the name of what anthropology was as a science. This argument questions how anthropology will thrive or unravel if it moves away from the sciences and into other areas of interest. • 11. Pathophysiology, Signs And Symptoms, And Treatment Of... Title of the Paper in Twelve Words or Less Myasthenia gravis (MG) is an autoimmune disease that affects nerve impulses to skeletal muscles. There are varying types of this disease and the symptoms can range from mild, a person having peripheral skeletal muscle weakness, to severe, a person having breathing problems (Sieb, 2014). Myasthenia gravis is diagnosed in 20 out of 100,000 people in the United States, and women are more likely than men to have the disease (Meriggioli and Sanders, 2012). This autoimmune disease can happen at any age, but women generally have an earlier onset than men; the mean age for females is 28 and 42 for males (Nair, Patil Chhablani, Venkatramani, and Gandhi 2014). To better understand this disease this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pathology of Myasthenia Gravis Since MG has subtypes the pathology of this disorder needs to be analyzed by the autoantibody profile and the condition of the thymus (Meriggioli and Sanders, 2009). Pathologic antibodies target certain areas of the postsynaptic site of the skeletal muscle. In addition hyperplasia of the thymus or thymic tumors are vary influential in the disease process (Meriggioli and Sanders, 2012). Abnormalities of the thymus can lead to the development of the autoantibodies that target AChR, which ultimately triggers muscle weakness (Meriggioli and Sanders, 2012). . One pathological path of MG starts with antibodies against AChR, and this is the most prevalent type of MG. AChR myasthenia gravis occurs in 80% of patients that have this ocular or generalized disease, and the autoantibodies that disrupt AChR functions can arise from abnormalities in the thymus (Nacu, Anderson, Lisnic, Owe, Gilhus, 2015). Normal function of the postsynaptic receptor involves binding with acetylcholine, which causes depolarization and ultimately muscle contraction (Meriggioli and Sanders, 2012). In this autoimmune disorder several actions can occur involving antibodies that oppose normal function of AChRs and result in disruption and damage of the receptor. Anti AChR antibodies can block acetylcholine by binding, cause complement lysis of motor endplate, or cause receptor degradation by triggering cross linking (Meriggioli and Sanders, 2012). ... Although he was a dark person, Poe still loved many people in his life. Before their relationship turned sour, Poe was incredibly grateful for John Allan (Biography Edgar Allan Poe). He loved Virginia so much that when she died, he never recovered (Poet Edgar Allan Poe). His bad habits worsened and new ones developed after her passing (Biography Edgar Allan Poe). Poe gives nearly all of his main characters someone or something to love. So even though they are murderers or mentally unstable, they have something that readers can relate to; they love. SNAP will be the primary nutrition assistance program of the paper at hand. No matter how morally good it is to try to help reduce hunger and increase food security within the United States, there are still many questions regarding issues with SNAP. This paper will be discussing why there is such a strong support for the program, how it helps the United States as a whole, problems with the program, and why some people are against SNAP. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Focused background Alkaline phosphatase will behave like a protein, due to the fact that it is a glycoprotein. Utilizing the above mentioned information it is possible to test for the optimum pH. Alkaline phosphatase will function optimally at a pH of around 10 (an alkaline pH). If one was to assess the range of the pH pertaining to this enzyme, it can be seen that there will be a point where the enzyme has the greatest activity, whereby it produces the highest concentration of the so called product . Due to the previous knowledge of proteins, it can be deduced that at acidic pH the protein will have very low activity or will denature. It should also be noted that once the optimal pH has been reached and surpassed, the enzymes rate of activity will begin to reduce. As previously stated, temperature is another variable that can affect the enzyme reaction rate. At low temperatures there will be little to no activity but as the temperature is increased so the rate of activity will increase. However, just like pH, once the optimal temperature is reached and surpassed, the enzyme will begin to break apart. The enzyme will be experimentally tested using temperatures around room temperature (27℃). Due to the fact that there is a human application the enzyme will continue to be tested until temperatures of human death (45℃). After the testing is completed it can be deduced what temperatures create an optimum environment for the normal functioning of the enzyme. One

Memory in the psychology terms means a process in which information is encoded, stored, and retrieved. When the information is encoded, it will allow the information from the outside world to reach the senses as chemical and physical stimuli forms. The first stage is when the change in information so the memory can be put into an encoding process. Second stage is a storage process. In this process we get to know the details of what information and how much we have over periods of time. The last process is the retrieval of the information that we have stored stage. Here we try to locate it and return it back to our consciousness but sometimes it is worthless because it varies on the information type we had stored. There are three types of information processing: first is Encoding and Registration where we receive, process and combine the received information, then is Storage where creation of permanent record of the encoded information, last is Retrieval, recall or recollection where we call back the stored information in response of cue so it can be used in a process or activity. Sensory memory allows an individual s retrain impressions of the sensory information after the original stimulus has ceased. If player one were to cooperate, that minimum and maximum return would be one and three respectively. Whereas if player one were to defect the minimum points he or she would earn is two, and the maximum could potentially be four. b) Like player one, player two would benefit most if he or she chose the strategy of defection. Similar to the situation in question a, the maximum and minimum reward of defection outweighs the benefits of cooperation. If player two, like player one, were to choose cooperation, and element of trust must be present if the goal was to yield the maximum three points. It is human nature to be cautious and therefore, without any communication or social bond, there is no reason to trust the other player. Ultimately, a strategy of defection is the most practical and rewarding approach to pursue. c) If the player one had no doubt that player two would chose to cooperate, the game becomes more difficult. Now that the shadow of doubt has been removed from player one s reasoning, the approach behind player one s strategy is primarily fueled by motives. If player one s motive is to secure the maximum points that he or she should choose to defect, if however, player one s motives hinge on a belief in ethics or morality than he or she would most likely cooperate. Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, leading ideologists of communism, wrote The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggle . Marx s notion of class has nothing to do with social class in the sociological sense of upper, middle and lower classes (which are often defined in terms of quantitative income or wealth). Instead, in an age of capitalism, Marx describes an economic class. Membership in a class is defined by one s relationship to the means of production, i.e., one s position in the social structure that characterizes capitalism. For the bourgeoisie, what would be the point in shaking the dominant image of a country made of too much water and too many poor people ? However, it is not possible to completely black out the existence of class struggle and some information gets through. The following is a resume of news clips from various newspapers in December 1994: On December 4th 1994 thousands of poorly paid and poorly equipped police officers, auxiliary militiamen (Ansars) mutinied, taking over two barracks, 22 officers hostage and managing to take control of the headquarters and training centre in the capital, Dacca. After 4 days, by which time the mutiny had spread to other provinces, repression began in earnest. The army s special forces attacked the occupies barracks, using very significant measures: artillery guns, rockets, helicopters, gas, armored cars... with an official toll of 4 deaths and 50 wounded. The first ideological image is therefore shattered: there are more than just disarmed, ragged, soaking wet beggars in Bangladesh! • 22. Analysis Of Miss Julie By Stanislavski Constantin Stanislavski (1863 1938) is considered as the father of realism. His system of acting uses a balance between an actor s personal experience and an attempt to imagine being in their character s situation. Stanislavski believed by preparing correctly with characterization, you can harness your subconscious and create a truthful performance, Because the very best that can happen is to have the actor completely carried away by the play. Then regardless of his own will, he lives the part, not noticing how he feels, not thinking about what he does, and it all moves of its own accord, subconsciously and intuitively. However, one cannot create subconsciously without inspiration, and inspiration cannot be forced, so Stanislavski ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Those feelings, drawn from our actual experience, and transferred to our part, are what give life to the play . Also, by using emotional memory for the characterization, the actor will be able to understand what Miss Julie is going through and the emotions she is required to display. However, Emotional memory recall proved to be too exhausting for actors and produced negative results like tension and hysteria. Stanislavski also realized that unconscious feelings needed to be coaxed, lured and enticed gently, rather than forced out. In ordinary life, truth is what really exists, what a person really knows. Whereas on the stage it consists of something that is not actually in existence but which could happen . This line is especially important in realism, where the aim of the actor is to create the appearance of reality or truth on stage. An actor does not actually believe in the truth of the events on stage, only in the imaginative creation of them , this then posed the question of creating the appearance of reality for the spectator. Stanislavski answered this question by creating the magic if , and thus, the character s objectives drove the actor s physical action choices. The actor had to answer the question, if I were in Miss Julie s position, what would I do? and this was a question that should be constantly asked during rehearsal processes for characterization. Igbo Ukwu, in modern day Nigeria, shows that by the ninth century West Africa was not isolated from the outside world, as for some its trading goods included over one hundred thousand glass beads, mostly from Egypt and India. The Almoravids also exported gold coins to infiltrate Europe s economy by accompanying its silver currency. During the height of Western African empires, Africans had a lot of interaction with people outside the continent that they were both influenced by and affected themselves. East Africa after the sixteenth century had grown to be an international center where many outsiders would come to trade. By the 1500s, East Africa was starting to become a thriving trading center, with several Europeans and Southeast Asians coming to stay for several months due to the strong monsoon trade winds. They were not just intermediaries in trade but consolidators and producers, with Kilwa playing the middleman. • 35. The Solstice Flood Of Duluth On July 19 20 2012, Duluth, MN experienced 10 inches of rain which led to one of the worst inland flood events in American history. The St. Louis River rose over 10 feet and caused significant damage to roads, bridges, and private property (Czuba et al. 2012). Erosion carried massive sediment loads into Lake Superior, posing a risk to both terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems in the process. The flash flood shook the community and negatively impacted the environment to such a degree that recovery is still a work in progress. The Solstice Flood, as it is known, forced the community to evaluate its outlook and preparations surrounding natural disasters. As global climate change continues, the frequency and magnitude of events like this are going to increase (IPCC, 2014). Unfortunately, the 2012 Solstice Flood in Duluth is symptomatic of how poorly we as a country, and perhaps as a species, have prepared for disasters that will only be magnified going forward. Anatomy of the Flood As described above, the flash flood was caused by intense rainfall over several days during June 2012. The torrential rains led to record breaking discharges in the Knife and St. Louis Rivers. The discharges from the Knife River and St. Louis River peaked at 25,000 ft3/s and 45,300 ft3/s respectively (Czuba et al., 2012). The Mississippi River and other nearby streams and rivers also experienced unusually high flow volumes. As rain rushed into and through these systems, flood mitigation and ... This book is about a dystopian America where there is extreme censorship and any media (mainly books) that questions the government is burned by a branch called the Firemen. The main character whose name is Guy Montag is a fireman who begins to realize that what he s doing is wrong after meeting a young girl named Clarisse. As the book goes on it is revealed that Montag had been stashing books in his vents for a long time and tried to show them to his wife, but she doesn t want anything to do with it. His wife Mildred towards the end of the book actually ends up reporting him to the Firemen, when she does this Montag is at work and shows up on the call to witness his wife get into a taxi and leave him. Then to throw salt in the wound the Fireman Captain Beatty forces Montag to burn his own house to the ground before being arrested for possession of illegal media, but after Montag burns the house he turns on Beatty burning him with the flamethrower and knocking out the other two firemen before fleeing. After having finished reading it I thought that this book was really good, it kept my attention the whole time and had a big surprise at the end. (The full ending is not included in the summary.) This book also has many sad moments that let you relate to the protagonist. My favorite character in this book is Guy Montag. The reason that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on The Pros and Cons of Franchising Advantages Disadvantages of Franchising Franchising is a continuing relationship in which the franchisor (the owner of a company) provides a licensed privilege to the franchisee (the buyer) to do business and offers assistance in organising, training, merchandising, marketing, and managing in return for a consideration. It is a form of business by which the franchisor of a product, service, or method obtains distribution through affiliated dealers (franchisees). This can be helpful in lowering the risk of business failure in unfamiliar markets, as well as creating a competitive advantage. Franchising offers franchisees the advantage of starting up a new business quickly based on a proven trademark and way of doing business, as opposed to building a new business from scratch. The franchised business is based on a proven idea and has an existing customer base, therefore making it much easier to sell your product than it would if you were to start up your own business. By buying into a franchise you are gaining the benefit of the franchisors experience as well as the name and reputation that has already been built up by the franchisor. Therefore it is no wonder that according to the U.S. Commerce Department, an estimated 95% of franchises succeed, whereas only 25 35% of independent businesses succeed. (http://money.howstuffworks.com) It is also not surprising that franchising makes up for about 3.2 percent of all businesses and 35 percent of all retail and service revenue in the United States, proving that it is big business. • 42. The Causes Of Urbanization And Poverty Urbanization causes financial problems to the overwhelming majority of the people. This is because problems with money are widespread in urban areas. First of all, urbanization leads to the extreme growth of unemployment. For instance, as reported by the International Labour Organization, International unemployment rose to 210 million people in 2010 (David Vicente 2012, p.154). According to David Vicente (2012, p.156) vast amounts of unemployment results in human resources not being used efficiently across cities which cause social inequality. This evidence shows that urbanization causes unemployment. Urbanization leads to significant overpopulation in the central cities, which causes high competition and as a result lower job opportunities for most people in the labor market. As businesses and governments cannot produce enough jobs to meet the demand of a fast growing population, a lot of individuals are faced with a shortage of employment and deprived of a vital source of income. As a result, lack of revenue leads to inequality in society. Secondly, urbanization leads to a lack of affordable housing for the overwhelming majority of urban people. According to Gan (et al., 2017, p.427) in the forthcoming future, the global urban population will reach around 6.3 billion people in 2050, and about 94% of them will be in developing countries. Furthermore, approximately 828 million people from developing countries currently live in inadequate housing and this number will rise ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many animals including; foxes, mink(LCA). China is the largest fur exporter, which gives the United States more than half of the finished fur garments that were torn from animals. There is a shocking over two million cats and thousands of dogs bled to death, skinned alive, and hanged just for the skin each animal attains. These are household pets being tortured for the soft, lovable fur they have no control or power over. The sad truth is these cruel and horrid people have no consequences to their unacceptable behavior(Nine Shocking Fur Facts). Imagine a beloved and admired pet being tormented by strange people with unexisted feelings or emotion. Why is this heartless and wicked practice still in society? Another heartbreaking fact is that 85% of fur industry s skin come from animals who are held captive on fur factory farms, which are crammed into dangerously crowded, wire cages and skinned alive. The cold, damp, and sickly cages animals are held in are 12 by 18 inches which are outdoor exposing each animal to the harsh elements of nature. • 48. Gender Stereotypes In Trifles By Susan Glaspell In earlier cultures, women s job was to bear children, cook, clean, and to be submissive to their husband. A man s job was to work, take care of the farm, and was to be the dominant individual in the marriage. With both the husband and wife doing their daily duties, the household would go smoothly. However, certain men in the 19th century began to degrade women. Making women feel worthless and unimportant. Wives, daughters and sisters were left at home all day to oversee the domestic duties that were increasingly carried out by servants (The British Library). In the play Trifles, the play writer wants the audience to believe that stereotypes is inappropriate because it is wrong to assume something about an individual based solely on their gender. Throughout this play, written by Susan Glaspell, there are several instances where both genders were not portrayed as equal. In the play, Hale stated Well, women are used to worrying over trifles (Glaspell, 25). The word trifles means something unimportant or of little value (Webster s II New College Dictionary). Here, Hale is basically saying that women worry over the small things in life, instead of focusing on what really matters. Later on in the play, the women focusing over trifles is of great benefit to the women, and it allows the women to have an upper hand over the men. Traditionally a middle class girl in Western culture tended to learn from her mother s example that cooking, cleaning, and caring for children was the behavior expected of her when she grew up (WIC Women s History in America). This statement links to the play in many different ways. It is evident that the women had the job of making sure the house looked presentable to any family and/or guests that entered the home. In the play, the County Attorney says Dirty towels! Not much of a housekeeper, would you say, ladies? (Glaspell, 25). In this line, it is evident that the County Attorney expected that Mrs. Wright should have always had clean towels under the sink instead of dirty ones. It is then that Mrs. Hale chimed in to say Those towels het dirty awful quick. Men s hands aren t always as clean as they might be (Glaspell, 25). Here, Mrs. Hale is trying to take ...
