Case Study Of Professional Skepticism
1.0Introduction
Professional skepticism is key to the execution of compelling reviews under Public Company
Accounting Oversight Board ( PCAOB or Board ) gauges. Those benchmarks require that proficient
wariness be connected all through the review by every individual examiner on the engagement
group.
PCAOB guidelines characterize proficient incredulity as a demeanor that incorporates a
scrutinizing mind and a basic appraisal of review confirmation. The gauges additionally express
that proficient incredulity ought to be practiced all through the review procedure. While proficient
suspicion is critical in all parts of the review, it is especially imperative in those zones of the review

Consequences Of The Indian Removal Act
The Indian Removal Act was a law signed by Andrew Jackson stating to provide for an exchange
of lands with the Indians residing in any of the states or territories, and for their removal west of
the river Mississippi, to make room for the white population to grow and become prosperous. This
would mean that the Native Americans would lose their land and be forced to leave the graves of
their fathers to walk thousands of miles into their new territory. Nonetheless, this act would cause
thousands of Native American civilized tribes such as the creek, cherokee, chickasaw, and choctaw
tribes to lose their lives and the dangerous journey filled with demise would later be called the
Trail of Tears. I believe this act was unlawful, illegal and unconstitutional due to the fact that
Jackson organized it because he despised the Native Americans. He merely saw them as people
who could not adjust to the ways of the white man or act in a civilized manner.
Jackson stated in his letter to congress that the general government kindly offers him a new home,
and proposes to pay the whole expense of his removal and settlement ,however, this does not
justify tearing the indians of their homes. If you were to put yourself in the position of the Natives
you would come to the realization that they were just people trying to make a simple and honest
living. Yet, Jackson loathed them since they did not live a refined live, instead they followed their
own traditions and customs. What Jackson

Smoking On Teens In America
Smoking cigarettes leads to mental diseases and casualties in the United States with more than
480,000 individuals in the United States dying from cigarettes and about 41,000 deaths from
second hand smoking (CDC). After John Rolfe introduced the commercial crop in Virginia in the
1600 s, tobacco became the leading exported crop for the colony. Tobaccos initial purpose was for
pipe smoking, chewing, and snuff, (CNN) and to cure individuals with health issues. With the
abundant amount of tobacco, smoking became inexpensive and easy to access across the nation.
Along with the accessibility and reasonable price, smoking became a huge issue for individuals
ranging from teens to adults. An advertisement campaign, called TheTruth, created this visual
advertisement of the teenager smoking a cigaretteand the smoke of the cigarette illustrating a gun
facing the teenagers head. From analyzing the advertisement, one can conclude about the high
fatality rate of young teenagers smoking in the United States. The advertisement campaign focuses
on the effects smoking has on teenagers in America. The creator of the visual uses a contrast
between dark and light colors to portray negativity behind teen smoking, the use of symbolism to
depict a gun from cigarette smoke conveys how each objects functions similarly, and the display of
the text on the right hand side of the visual invokes fear to teen smokers. The creator of the visual

Running Record Book Reports
The student participating in the running record is a third grade male. He has an IEP for OHI,
for a hearing impairment. He is pulled out of his regular education classroom for a half hour
literacy block three days a week as well as meeting with the SLP twice a week. The running record
took place in the special educationresource room. There was two other children in the room, also
working on literacy. However, the studentand I were working one on one at a separate table. He was

very familiar with.
His teacher does many running records throughout the year to track progress. He does one at the
start of a new level in the LLI books, as well as one at the end of each level. This helps him to
keep track of where a student started and how successful they have become throughout the
semester/year. This also helps him to determine when to move onto the next level of books. The
student had already read this book several times and his teacher was going to be moving him on

The Rock Of Rock And Roll
Since the beginning of time there has always been music in the world. The Native Americans
had their tribal music, which was used for healing, ceremonies, and ancient rituals. Ever since
the beginning of the 20th century there has been rock and roll. Rock and roll has changed
drastically over the years. In my opinion, it is possibly one of the most important genres there is.
1950s: The Birth of Rock and Roll This was the decade that rock and roll first emerged. Even
though swing music was still popular it was time for rock to enjoy the limelight. In its earliest
stages rock could be described as blues with electric guitar. The first widely known Rock Star was

1970s: Rock becomes big business After the Vietnam war had ended the people, and music began
to settle down. The early 70s marked the deaths of many artists, and the breakup of The Beatles.
Psychedelic music declines but bands such as Led Zepplin have created their own sound. The
perfect blend of blues and hard rock. Later on a band called The Ramones made their own pre
genre of rock...punk. This intense genre of teenage rage and rock and roll influenced many
bands in the future. In the 1970s FM radio starts to play rock music, car stereos become common
also. Early 70s are dominated by soft rock and singer, songwriters. Reggae moves away from
Jamaica to become a world wide genre. Disco dominates the radio and dance floors in the late
70s. Popular disco groups include: Abba, Bees Gees, Kool and the gang, Earth, wind, and Fire.
Those are just a few but there is many more where that comes from, In all honesty the 70s was a
great decade, movie tickets were just 1.50, what s not to love about that?!

Letter To A Soldier s Last Letter Home
I choose to read this letter because it appealed to me because of soldier s feeling toward the war,
how he titled his letter LAST LETTER HOME , and short sentences that shows the damage the
war has taken on Larry Getting short, Mom, coming home pretty soon. Going to quit flying soon,
too much for me now. I went in front of a board for sp/5 will know soon if i made it.
Wars meant more than violence and actions to the soldiers. After having analyzing multiple letters,
now I could understand better, how these soldiers and veterans were not only physically, but
mentally remained in pressure. I have flown 1500 hours now, and in those hours I could tell you a
lifetime story.
It is also one of the hardest work to send a letter to your family and loved ones, and title your letter
Last Letter home , because it shows how hard the war is beating to your your knees and you don t
have any power to get up and say I will survive. The soldiers states that I could tell you a lifetime
story. Such a meaningful sentence. Even though I haven t experience terrible events of the war, but

Soldier simply wants make his family feel that he will come back home but it might take a long

of Valerie s hand touching mine telling me to come home, so I could imagine that Larry had lost
his wife and they had a daughter named Valerie and it is hard for a father to leave their kids at
home, but this soldier , and others, had put out their hearts and families by going to the war, so
we could live in peace and freedom, but I believe, the only reason Larry s still writing letters is
because he wants to be near Valerie and support her and that is why, he has some kind of
motivation, hope and states Today I am 21, far away but coming home

question has been a topic of lively controversy for nearly two centuries now . The source detailed
the evidence...and lack of evidence from Shakespeare s life. Evidence of Shakespeare s life
includes a few items, a few signatures, a record of his marriage to Anne Hathaway, a three page
will, papers detailing business transactions, and two portraits. There is no record of Shakespeare s
schooling or connection to his writing. The other main point the source hit was how the
controversy was born. The first person to make the argument did so as a joke, Shakespeare
scholar James Shapiro did this in his book Contested Will: Who Wrote Shakespeare? This article
was the most interesting to read because it contained the freshest information. The research I
found in this source did not overlap with or reword previous sources which made it not only so
much more enjoyable to read but much more beneficial to my research. This was the only article
that swayed me to one side or the other of the controversy. I found the list of evidence from

The Horror Of The Zombies
The zombies are used to represent the mass panic of a containable situation, and the government is
portrayed as safe keepers of people, but also critiquing the government s actual response time and
effectiveness to situations. Both the story and the movie utilize zombies as a substitution for a
more real and occurring matter. The nationwide panic that is represented through a zombie
apocalypse can be interpreted as a problem that the country is facing or may have faced before.

A zombie will kill if able. Given zombies, according to Sims were never not hungry (52), they
didn t rush to an opportunity. Sims describes a scene where Michael essentially has a stare down
with a jogger zombie. He says the zombie was facing his direction, but was lacking life. The
zombies have an unquenchable thirst for meat, flesh, and brains yet do not act upon their desire.
Maybe, due to decay, the eye sight of the zombie has decreased significantly along with its other
senses. Or, once zombiefied it no longer even use the senses. The zombies may altogether gain new
and different senses, and rely heavily upon those to tell what is around them. Either way, the
awareness of a zombie is significantly lower than a living human, but still dangerous none the less.
The Night of the Living Dead zombies are seen as pretty slow, but may be more aware. Night of
the Living Dead zombies utilized tools and were persistent. The first zombie that ap pears in the
movie seemed to be the most aggressive one. He wrestles the guy to the ground and runs after
the girl. After she locks herself in the car he first tries the door handle on both sides of the car.
Figuring out that that didn t work he got a rock and broke the window. His level of un derstanding
had far surpassed that of the zombies in A Questionable Shape. Also, the daughter of the wife and

Teens And Teen Pregnancy
As us females were young we all seem to become mothers, by playing with dolls, and playing
house with others our age. It may be easy for us to say that as children we thought they needed
some assistance, but in reality that was only our imagination. As little kids did we really think
about what it would be like to really have a baby? We were children, but see the thing here is that
teens are still children who are having other children. 16 year olds do not just wake up thinking
they want to have a baby, most of the time it just happens without being planned. Teens often do
not think about what life would be like as a parent which is easy to happen and we should be
informed on the reasons why and what it really is like. The first reason why a girl can easily get
pregnant is not being informed about contraceptives. There are about 1,700 school based health
centers nationwide in which about в…“ provide contraceptives. Sexual education is very
important when it comes to this, there are states that still require parents to sign off their children
receiving any sexual education in schools, in which many of the cases the parents and their kids
are too embarrassed to talk about. Although it is the parent s responsibility to talk about it, they do
not. When a teen is sexually active, it is important for them to let a parent know, so that they can
get checked. Another possible reason can be unwanted sex. According to Teenhelp.com four in ten

America s High Prison Population
America s High Prison Population Since the 1970s, America s prison population rate has risen
700%. Despite the U.S. comprising only 5% of the world s population, it is the largest jailer
with 25% of the world s prison population with one in 99 adults in prison and one in 31 under
some type of correctional control (Mass Incarceration Problems, 2014, p. 1). According to 2013
data, 2.2 million are currently incarcerated in U.S. prisons or jails (Incarceration, 2013, para. 1), a
figure that indicates a rising problem with prisonovercrowding. While prison overcrowding
increases the economic burdens on local and state governments, common factors leading to the high
prison population is linked to the need for improved juvenile programs that deter criminal behavior
and fund for rehabilitation for reentry into mainstream society. With effective programs to deter
juvenile crimeand to aid in offender reentry coupled with sentencing reforms, overcrowding in the
nation s prisons would decline.
Among nearly 100,000 youth under age 18 released from U.S. prisons each year, the majority are
not provided with the critical assistance necessary for successful transition back to their
communities, schools, homes, and peer groups (Youth Reentry, 2012, p. 1). Instead, these youths
return to neighborhoods that tend to lack the support programs necessary to ensure a positive
transition back into mainstream society. Disturbingly, these youths frequently return to
neighborhoods with high crime

Amanda Knox Trial

electronic accessibility to legal and journalistic documents; this shows that the media did not cover
the legal aspect of Knox s story as much as they covered her personal life. This discovery makes

from the rest of the world, even in regards to trade. This was changed in 1854 by Commander

anthropology, Christology, and eschatology. These three theological components create the basis
for Christian realism, the crux of his theological ethics. However, nowhere in this approach does
Niebuhr provide space for ecclesiology. Essentially, his idea of the Church is collapsed into the
schema of Christianity. As he develops this model of ethics based in Christian realism, he fails to
account for the appropriate influence and power of the Church. Therefore, I believe his theological
ethics lack force, improved through the intentional inclusion of a vibrant and socially engaged
ecclesiology.
Bonhoeffer s ethics of social engagement differ from Niebuhr s in that ecclesiology plays a more
formative role in establishing the foundational premises of ethics. Bonhoeffer would argue that the

In fact, his ethical model flourishes in a secular age of implicit cynicism. However, the mission
of the Church becomes muddied, unclear, and belittled in this model. A shallow ecclesiology of
this sort fails to see the Church s role in the ministry of reconciliation (2 Cor 5:19), realized in an
ethic of social engagement. By including Bonhoeffer as a dialogue partner, allowing Bonhoeffer to
contribute to Niebuhr s ethics, a new ethical synthesis is created. One where the Church s mission
is not collapsed , but, instead, finds a new purpose in its mission for the public good, enacting its

The Prospect Theory Paper
If you were given the opportunity to make the decision of receiving $5000 with 100% certainty
or the option with a 50% chanced of receiving $7000, what would you do? According to the
Prospect Theory, people generally select the option of winning the $5000 where there is absolute
certainty of a gain, over the option that is only half as certain. The Prospect Theory was first
introduced by psychologists Daniel Kahneman and Amos Tversky in the late 1970 s and was
further developed into the early 1990 s after years of research. Essentially, this is an expressive
theoretical model that is to be applied to humans, that describes our behaviors and abilities to make
decisions under certain circumstances. And, is comprised of the uncertainty or certainty... Show

We tend to ignore the final outcome of a decision and focus on the certainty or uncertainty of it.
The value we place on winning and losing vary, which is what the Prospect Theory suggests.
The Prospect Theory is a model that psychologists created to explain our behavior when it comes
to decision making and how we make decisions. Typically, if a decision has to do with a gain,
people will lean towards the most certain option because they may fear that if they selected the
other option that would be disappointed. On the other hand, decisions that have to do with loses
are seen as the opposite by the majority of people. This is because we feel more risky when
selecting the uncertain option over the certain option because we are trying to avoid a significant
loss. The Prospect Theory provides an explanation on how people make choices under strained
conditions of gains and losses in their applications of the real

Reinhold Niebuhr
Amidst the global attempts to establish worldwide peace on a moral ground, there are still several
events where international security, peace, and justice are sacrificed for national benefits, as, for
example, seen in the United States nonintervention policy, which prioritizes national sovereignty. In
his book Moral Man and Immoral Society, Reinhold Niebuhr indicated that each nation state had a
collective egoism that was beyond moral or rational explanation. Although the book was published
in 1932, well before any realization of human rights protection law or organization, Niebuhr s
message remains true to the present context: the contemporary culture, religious or secular, still
fails to recognize the collective egoism in human institutions. His argument regarding the dynamics
of power remains relevant. However, there is a sign of hope, as there are numerous organizations
aimed to reduce each nation s collective egoism and emphasizes why a... Show more content on

To look at Thailand, for instance, there have been several peaceful, non violent protests led by
college students against the military junta government, which has been in power for the last four

or threaten the government, the protests soon lost the support and are now no longer covered in
the news. This is because the protests lacked the coercive factors (23), even though they strongly
uphold essential moral and rational factors. As Niebuhr described, complete rational objectivity in
a social situation is impossible (14). Therefore, the author was accurate that, despite the growing
social media industry providing platforms for anyone to express their opinions, those opinions are
not coercive enough to convince the state to change its course of action, due to the lack of power in

Price Elasticity of Demand and Supply
Q. Discuss how a supplier of a product that is currently fashionable might use both of these concepts
in making price and output decisions.
Price Elasticity of Demand
The price elasticity of demand measures the sensitivity of the quantity demanded to price. The
price elasticity of demand is the percentage change in quantity demanded brought by a 1 percent
change in price. The value of price elasticity of demand for a normal good must always be negative,
reflecting the fact that demand curves slope downward because of the inverse relationship of price
and quantity.
The price elasticity of demand can be an extremely useful piece of information for business firms,

The price elasticity of supply tells us the percentage change in quantity supplied for each percent
change in price. The value of price elasticity of supply for a normal good must always be positive,
reflecting the fact that supply curves slope upward because of the positive relationship of price and
quantity.
Similarly as price elasticity of demand, price elasticity of supply can be also an extremely useful
piece of information for business firms in deciding how much to produce their products. To see
why a business might care about the price elasticity of supply, let s consider how an increase in
price might affect a business s total revenue. Since price and quantity have a positive
relationship in price elasticity of supply, a higher price will generally mean producing at a
higher quantity, so the total revenue will increase. Economists have classified the possible
range of values for price elasticity of supply as Inelastic Supply, Unitary Elastic Supply, and
Elastic Supply . In the process of helping a supplier of a product that is currently fashionable to
decide output decision, we must first identify the classification that the product is in right now as
being fashionable . As mentioned earlier, the price elasticity of supply is used to see how
sensitive the supply of a good is to a price change. The higher the price elasticity, the more
sensitive producers and sellers are to price changes. A very high price elasticity suggests

The Dead By James Joyce Meaning
After reading The Dead by James Joyce, I came to the conclusion that the title of the short story
has a very deep meaning, both literally and figuratively. The reason for which I believe the title
has a literal meaning is that the author briefly mentions about some secondary characters, who
in one way or another, are part of the story but are no longer alive. Some of these characters are
the following: Pat Morkan (Brother of Kate and Julia), Ellen Morkan Conroy (Mother of
Gabriel), T.J Conroy (Member of the Dublin Port and Docks Board, and Father of Gabriel), Patrick
Morkan (Owner of a starch mill, and Father of Kate and Julia), and, especially, Michael Furey

Cultural Awareness And Characteristics Within The...
Cultural Awareness and characteristics within the Afghanistan culture. There are five major
characteristics that define a culture; they are learned, shared, symbols, integrated, and dynamic.
Culture is learned. It is not biological; we do not inherit it. Much of learning culture is
unconscious. We learn culture from families, peers, institutions, and media. The process of
learning culture is known as enculturation. While all humans have basic biological needs such as
food, sleep, and sex, the way we fulfill those needs varies cross culturally. Culture is shared.
Because we share culture with other members of our group, we are able to act in socially
appropriate ways as well as predict how others will act. Despite the shared nature of culture, that
doesn t mean that culture is homogenous (the same). The multiple cultural worlds that exist in any
society are discussed in detail below. Culture is based on symbols. A symbol is something that
stands for something else. Symbols vary cross culturally and are arbitrary. They only have meaning
when people in a culture agree on their use. Language, money and art are all symbols. Language is
the most important symbolic component of culture. Culture is integrated. This is known as holism,
or the various parts of a culture being interconnected. All aspects of a culture are related to one
another and to truly understand a culture, one must learn about all of its parts, not only a few.
Culture is dynamic. This simply means that cultures

Savant Syndrome is condition in which persons with serious mental disabilities, including

the condition is extremely rare, studies have shown 1 in 10 autistic persons show some savant
skills (Treffert, 2009). It goes on in depth of the variety of savant skills in autistic people and
that such skills are linked to the massive memory in our brains. Through extensive observations
and reports, the article states what they know about the disorder. Some of the key findings found
were Men out numbered females in autism and savant syndrome, and that Savant skills typically
occur in a narrow range of special abilities (Treffert, 2009). Such as math, art, mechanical or
spatial skills, and music were found to be in the top general categories in Savant syndrome.
Interestingly enough, savant skills characteristically continue, rather than disappear (Treffert,

such as social, daily living skills, and with there language skills. I feel this article and its scientific
findings definitely correlated with Raymond s character because he demonstrated remarkable

the movie and made the disorder of Savant Syndrome worldwide

The Film M By Fritz Lang
We Are the Criminal
There are instances in life in which we must accept things that are beyond our control and
understanding. In the film M by Fritz Lang we are thrust into a situation of that exact caliber.
The story tells of a man named Hans Beckert, who appears to be an average man by day. We first
meet the character as a shadow and all that we hear is a whistle as he approaches a child which
was left alone. Once the news is out about the missing child the town erupts in chaos, everybody
seems to have their own theory about who this criminal is. Even the gangsters of the city have to

room in which they plan on prosecuting Mr. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The interesting thing in this film is that it doesn t seem to bother the other citizens that these
gangsters are out doing whatever they please. The number of different crimes committed in the
manhunt was much larger than Mr. Beckert had committed himself. They first forced themselves
into the premise of the storage facility Mr. Beckert was hiding in. They then beat and bound the
guards and destroyed a huge amount of property in the process.
Foucault gives a fairly good explanation stating that these terrible crimes are crimes against nature
(pg. 5). These crimes are so heinous that something within ourselves knows that the crime is wrong.
These crimes carry with them an aura of disgust, instead of a feeling of sorrow. He goes on to say
that the individual in whom insanity and criminality met in such a way as to cause specialists to
raise the question of their relationship, was not the man of the little everyday disorder, the pale
silhouette moving about on the edges of law and morality, but rather the great monster (pg. 5).
What he means by this is that the criminals he describes as dangerous individuals are not the same
as the everyday criminals, these are somehow much worse.
There are certain characteristics that Foucault attributes to his idea of the dangerous individual. He
starts by stating Garofalo s principal in which he

Health Insurance and the Need for Reform Essay
Insurance is a mess of mazes that leads to one outcome: one only reaps what one sows. The
sowing involves lifetimes of work; hours tick away, and workers clock in and clock out. Near
the big golden moment of retirement, some stress about their comfort in old age. It is the dream
of many to find a pillow after slaving away, but for some, it is a time of discernment. Those who
did not work need a cushion just as well. Maybe their children, grown and employed, could return
the care they once received.
Insurance is as ancient as Babylon. The first policy dates back to 2100 B.C.; specifically, it is the

The company can then cover all members; they use the money like a shared pot in poker to pay
for each insurance member s needs. Her premium cost rises as the company s population of
members grows (Cleland).
With no dependents to claim, a city employee has $469.40 of coverage paid for by the city. The
premium for an employee to insure a spouse is $938.80 under the Association of Washington
Cities (AWC). The senior interviewed stated she had tapped into her Social Security through
Medicare under Part B and Part D. The first calls for an approximate payment of $93 from Social
Security to Medicare in order to cover procedures concerning health. The second plan covers any
medications she needs. An example of a procedure was her latest CAT scan; the total costs
amounted to just over $5,000. Medicare paid for 96.6% of the bill. The remainder was paid by
Medigap, a plan covered by her premium (Cleland).
Since the price Social Security pays to insure a senior is $197, claiming a senior relative would
be cheaper than claiming a spouse, so the city can afford it. The medications and procedures
would still be covered. These particular plans of coverage have a very low bill for medications.
Prices range from a maximum co pay of $35 for brand name drugs down to just $4 for generic
drugs (AWC). This would also put the Social Security check in the elder s pocket, thus it could be
spent on taxable merchandise for economic revenue. These

Jean Luc Godard s Le Mepris
Le MГ©pris is a film distinct in Jean Luc Godard s career, for many reasons: amongst others, it was
his first foray into a more big budget, large scale production. Ironically or perhaps purposefully one
of the overarching themes explored within Le MГ©pris is maintaining artistic integrity, whilst
attaining commercial success. Nowhere is this better explored than the famous middle sequence:
their extended argumentindoors. I aim to analyse this scene s depiction as not only a simple
argument between tumultuous lovers, but as it s symbolic exploration of their decaying

and of course, contempt.

Perhaps this is really a subversive way to express the emptiness consuming their relationship.
Significant too at the beginning of this scene, is the way the camera follows Lucille and Paul. The
majority of the time they are framed in shots alone, only in passing does the frame capture them
both. Though they are inhabiting the same space, the choice to capture them separately is very
deliberate, highlighting the isolation mounting within their relationship as they start to grow apart;
tying into the existential theme that eventually, we all die alone. The vehicle of a failing
relationship to depict this existential dread is an apt choice; nowhere more is isolation emphasized
than in contrast of it s antithesis: once romantic love, the communion of two souls.
Paul seems engrossed with his letters, pacing around the apartment staring at them, never really

priorities now lie there, and not his wife. For a second, Lucille seems to snap from a sullen mood
to a more playful one, and perhaps in a bid to grasp her husband s attention once more, she asks
him to guess what she bought today. When he asks what, and does not get an immediate answer, he

The Rule of the Major Generals
The Major General rule was an idea by Cromwell to help reduce the threat of royalist conspiracy
and to help further his need for healing and settling . However, the rule lasted less than a year due
its unpopularity and lack of support from the local gentry. In addition, the Major Generals
themselves were either inconsistent in their application of the aims or were negligent in their
duties. Furthermore, the unrealistic aims of the rule set them up for failure before the rule had
even begun, historian Farr comments on the limits of the generals power and the fact that it s no
wonder the rule failed as the scope of the tasks were impossible to fulfil.
Whilst all of these factors play a part in the failure of the Major Generals rule, the most significant
is its negligence by the Major Generals themselves. Its unpopularity and unrealistic aims could have
been overcome if every generals was both optimistic about their role and fully committed to the
cause. The lack of responsibility of the Major Generals led to the public not thinking they could
support the rule, and rather than help the rule, cause its demise. Farr further suggests that it was its
practical failure, rather than alleged unpopularity which led to the rule failing. However, Sharp
explains that the establishment of the Major Generals did more to alienate the gentry than any other
move and in terms on of healing and settling , it was a disaster.
The rule of the Major Generals was not popular, the gentry deeply

Martin Luther King Vs Minority Differences
Actions of an assembly are often inspired by the beliefs and values of a significant individual. As
an individual s ideas are spread to common knowledge, many commence to voice opinions, often in
support, of his or her values. As followers of the ideas increase, actions of the majority opinion
become a common, everyday occurrence, and the beliefs of those against the majority start to
diminish. As time passes, this one belief from a significant individual shapes the mindset of large
populations, altering contemporary societies into those that only push for the one action of the
majority, no matter how unearthly. However, when certain individuals that have the minority s
opinion make known the unethical actions of the majority, true change starts to occur. The lives of
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Elie Wiesel affected the speeches that they wrote as both of their
experiences, reflected in each speech, brought acknowledgement to the unjustified actions of their
respective contemporary societies and therefore brought about change in both the actions and
values of individuals in each society.
The early 1960s brought about multiple debates on the issue of equality among citizens of color and
status. The American white man believed that his race was superior to all others within his nation;
therefore, he believed, similar to the majority of the white race, that he had greater opportunity than
those of color in all aspects of society. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a man that

North Asi A Relationship With The Western Countries
Throughout history, East Asia has had a relationship with the rest of the world. Sometimes it was
not a positive relationship, but other times it was. China in specific had a trade relationship with the
Western countries, such as America and Great Britain, which developed into a war known as the
Opium War. A relationship with the Western countries at times caused tension in Japan with threats
of imperialism when they did not appreciate that Japan was isolated. The threat of imperialism and
isolation in Japan went hand and hand, Chinaquestioned if they should be isolated or not, and Korea
was isolated with a few exceptions. In the 19th and early 20th century, Japan and China looked on
the people of other countries as uneducated people who would die if Japan or China did not help
them. One of the reasons that they believed this was because Japan and China believed that they
had already been through an enlightenment period that brought them knowledge. They believed that
until other countries when through an enlightenment of their own, they were barbarians and needed
to be taken care of by an already enlightened country such as China or Japan. The citizens of China
during this period questioned if isolation was a valuable choice. They saw that everything they
exported to other countries benefited the citizens of that country in some way, such as how other
countries like Britain could not go a day without tea. Although China had goods that other countries

really thought they were going to win. They really thought they were going to win after one of the
most crushing, crushing pitches, home runs we ve ever had hit against us. For our guys to run off
the field and still think they can win that game says a lot about the guys in that uniform.
WVU had a 3 1 lead with two runners on and two outs in the top of the ninth. Starting pitcher Chad
Donato was working hard to get the complete game when Oklahoma State blasted a three run
homer over the fence to go up 4 3.
The Mountaineers could have hung their heads but they ran off the field prepared to get the run
right back. And WVU did just that,

Primary Care Ethics
There was a lot of literature on health care clinical ethics, considerably less literature on health care
organizational and administrative ethics. Many times what is good for health care business may
not be ethical, causing an ethics gap. Ethics gaps can be identified and corrected by careful analysis
of an institution s organizational culture. A true case study on how a nursewas able to change a
tainted organization into a responsible one by ethics infrastructure changes. Finally, implications for
healthcare were addressed.
Jane, was 31 year old master s prepared public health nurse, held one of the highest level positions

From June to October the Philippine Islands are sometimes struck by typhoons, which sometimes
cause great damage. The Philippines have very many mineral and forest resources. The principal
minerals are gold, copper, iron, chromite, manganese, salt, and coal. Other minerals found here
include silver, lead, mercury, limestone, petroleum, nickel, and uranium. Forests cover 23% of the
Philippines. Some of these trees are the banyan, many different kinds of palm, and many indigenous
trees with extremely hard wood such as apitong, yacal, lauan, camagГіn, ipil, white and red narra,
and mayapis. Bamboo, cinnamon cloves, and pepper plants grow wild, and so does many other
kinds of orchid. One of the most valuable plants is the abaca, a plantain, and the fiber that is used
to make cordage, textiles, and hats. Mangrove trees and nipa palms grow in coastal swamps.
Considerable areas of the uplands are covered by coarse grasses, of little value, for cattle. Few
mammals are found on the islands, but there are many reptiles. The islands also have 556 species
of birds. Coastal waters are filled with marine life, mainly mollusks, which the Philippines are well
known for. There are huge amounts of pearl oysters around the Sulu Archipelago. About 32% of
the land is farmland. In the northern islands the soils are mainly originated from volcanic rock.
Coral limestone is an important part of the soils in the southern islands. In general the soils of the

Texas Aggie Research Paper
Many people struggle with the decision of where they want to go to college and what they
would like to do for the rest of my life. For me, this choice was made easier with this ticket. This
ticket was to a Texas A M football game, but in a broader sense it was a ticket to much more than
just a football game; it was a ticket to the Aggie experience and what it means to be a Texas Aggie.
Many of the traditions that make Texas A M unique find their origins in Texas Aggie football
.
Standing with the student body as part of the 12th Man helped me to understand the traditions
and commitment of the original 12th man as he stood on the sidelines. It is this sense of loyalty
to the 12th Man that makes every Aggie fan proud when they hear the roar of the crowd. Aggies
say that they have seen their team win and lose, but none have ever seen them quit. This is the
same when it comes to the Texas Aggies, and part of what makes Texas A M so special.
My ticket to the Aggie experience actually started the night before the football game at Midnight
Yell. With the thousands gathered in Kyle Field at midnight, the Yell Leaders walk in a line from
end zone to end zone and tell mysterious stories about the Aggies beating the opposing team by 22
points the last time they played. When the crowd sings the Aggie War Hymn, the... Show more

Examples Of Boundaries And Boundaries In The Shadow Lines
Borders and Boundaries in Amitav Ghosh s The Shadow Lines:
A Postcolonial Study
The Shadow lines is an award winning novel by Amitav Ghosh. The historical events like the
Swadeshi Movement, Second World War, partition of India and communal riots of 1963 64 which
took place in Calcutta and Dhaka are all mentioned. The concept of boundaries is an important
one for the postcolonial world writer s .This novel discusses these lines across cultures and
boundaries and tries to study them. These borders and boundaries not only divided the people but
also relocated them from their own country. The story is told in first person narrative and all the
events are described in a retrospective manner of about two decades .Because of the borders,
borderlines, nation and nationhood there is a certain degree of nuances which is created inside the
human mind which is also discussed in his novel. The plot of the novel centres ... Show more

problems discussed by Amitav Ghosh. The concept of borders and how the life of people changed
and what are the effects of partition on them. He discussed the concept of partition by different
point of views through his different characters. Through this work he questioned the concept of
borders and according to him they are just done for the political purposes and they are just arbitrary.
These borders further enhance the trouble by creating differences among people and that affects
their mutual relationship. Amitav Ghosh through his work tries to explain that these borders have
the same effect on people on both the sides of the borders. Both the sides suffer the same violence.
He want to unify people and through The Shadow Lines he want to explain that unity is one of the
biggest asset that every nation should possess and have good relations with the neighbouring

Making A Bottle Rocket
Making the bottle rockets was a very tedious task, for it required a lot of patience. If my partner
and I were to make another rocket, there are a few changes we would make. First of all, we
would make our rocket lighter by removing some of the materials from the payload. By doing
this, the rocket would be able to stay in the air for longer. Also, we would improve the parachute
by making it stronger. To do this, we would need to tape it better and make it sturdier. This will
make the deployment easier which will make the rocket stay in the air longer. We would make all of
these improvements so that our rocket would stay in the air longer without breaking the egg when
it hit the ground. Although our bottle rocket could have had some improvements,

Title
Romer, Daniel, Hall Jamieson, Kathleen Aday, Sean 2003, Television News and the Cultivation of
Fear of Crime , Journal of communication, vol. 53, pp. 88 104.
Topic
This paper explores the concept of cultivation theory and the way in which violent programming on
television can instil fear and influence perceptions when it comes to experiencing crime in the
community. In using research findings to explore their hypothesis, the authors focus on analyzing
data which underpins their prediction that television viewers are influenced to believe in a social
reality, in this case a life threatened by crime, incongruous or actual crime rates.
Context
The context of this paper fits neatly within a number of fields and disciplines spanning
communication, sociology, politics, criminology and education. Published in the flagship journal of
the International Communication Association for an academic readership, it is thorough and
innovative in using a combination of research findings while also considering race, wealth and
geographical demographics. This is a persuasive construct that supports the thesis. As such, this
paper been considered an important source of information for communications scholars, students,
media strategists, news media producers, governments and policy makers. From the time it was
published in 2003, the paper has been cited in several academic journals while the individual
authors have continued their research, publishing

Ethical Dilemmas Of The Stockholm Syndrome
So many times as humans we are so quick to judge other people. We are so quick to stamp a
label at something that does not normal in our own eyes. We are so eager to paint the picture of a
road as being a two way street that we forget that sometimes there might be other roads attached on
the sides of those two roads that lie ahead. One of these instances that I plan on exploring further
past the naked human eye is the Stockholm Syndrome. I plan on discussing the history behind the
condition. How the condition came about and what it is named after. Who is most affected with
this condition and who some of the symptoms that the people affected with this condition could
potentially present. Of course, like many great, well known conditions that are present in the world,
there are some ethical dilemmas that are of topic amongst the population. For an example, some of
the people that are affected with the disease might participate in illegal activities. Should the people
be convicted of the crimes that they involuntarily participated in or be excused of the crimes?
Another area that also plan to investigate about the StockholmSyndrome is the embedded health
messages that are in the entertainment media; specifically the movies that are produced and aired
for the public to watch, relate and educate.

online is happening in the popular fashionindustry, too.
When the purchasing behaviors take place, the information flow with such activities can be
properly used for a better experience, more service, or even change the game. Within this concept,
we present an idea taking such opportunity to give people a new service that not only make every
cents they spent count, but also to give them advices as a personal consultant, that is Clothet .

Euthanasia And The Closely Related Procedure
Euthanasia and the closely related procedure, assisted suicide, are some of the most highly debated
topics in ethics. Although the procedures are different in name, their definitions are quite similar.
Euthanasia can be defined in two ways: passive or active. Passive euthanasia is defined as allowing
the patient s illness to kill them; refusing medical treatment. Active euthanasia, however, is defined
as killing through lethal injection, which also happens to be known as assisted suicide. From the
perspective of the deeply religious to those who just value the life of both themselves and others,
euthanasia and assisted suicide are fancy terms for murder. From my perspective, euthanasia and
assisted suicide are procedures that should only be allowed for those who are suffering from
incurable and physically painful illnesses that incapacitate them to the point where they cannot
properly function in society. What constitutes proper function in society will be discussed later
on, but it plays a pivotal role in the decision that one makes to die or not. Now some may
disagree and say that no matter the circumstance, one does not have the right to end their own life;
this too will be discussed in further detail. This essay will focus on the aspects mentioned above
and will provide the necessary answer to this debate between life and death.
As stated by Nowell Smith, but if we grant, as no doubt we all do, that everyone has a right to life,

Computational Modeling, An Artificial Intelligence...
1. Abstract:
The Ccost estimate is important for projects throughout its life cycle, starting from feasibility
studies till tendering stage and developing BOQ, it provides significant information that even may
serve project budgeting and controlling if reliable.
This paper presents a comparison between two cost estimate predictive modeling, an artificial
intelligence approach using neural networks as non parametric modeling; and multiplely regression
modeling that represents advanced engineering statics a parametric modeling.
Results show that neural networks have advantages when dealing with data that for which there is
little a priori knowledge of the appropriate cost estimate relationship to select for regression
modeling. However, in cases where an appropriate CER can be identified, regression models have
significant advantages in terms of accuracy, variability, model creation and model examination.
Both simulated and actual data sets are used for comparison.
Our research is applied for a specific package of construction projects (concrete work) based on 17
projects with a 115 records.
Key words: construction projects, cost estimate. Concrete work, neural network, multiply
regression.
2. Introduction:
Cost estimate is the productive process used to quantify cost and price the resources to achieve
project scope; the output can be used for many purposes throughout project life cycle such as:

The Human Heart Essays
Introduction In our world organisms occupy a sliding scale of complexity. On one hand we have
the single cell organisms, where all necessary functions for their life are carried out within that one
cell. At the other extreme we have extremely complex multicellular organisms, of which humans
are perhaps the cardinal member. Obviously, with increased capacity comes increased abilities.
Complex organisms are able to manipulate their environment to a greater extent then their simpler
cousins. While this has a lot of advantages, it also presents interesting biological problems. With the
increased complexity multicellular organisms must have systems to deliver nutrients, signaling
molecules, and biochemical building blocks to every cell. In... Show more content on

While contraction in skeletal muscle is triggered by motor neurons under central control, certain
cardiac muscle variants exhibit autorhythmicity. This means that that they are capable of
producing their own depolarizing electrical potential. The cardiomyocytes that are capable of
producing their own electrical potentials are found in what is referred to as the electrical condition
system of the heart. This system is comprised of specializes cardiomyocytes that are autorhythmic
and are able to conduct electrical potentials rapidly. These specialized structures include the
sinoatrial node, atrioventricular node and bundle, and Purkinje fibers. While the bulk of the heart is
myocardium, there are structural components that are pertinent. The four cardiac valves can be
seen in a transverse section of the heart at the base of the ventricles.

Surrounding each of these valves are dense fibrous rings or annuli made of connective tissue that
forms the cardiac skeleton. The annuli of the aortic valve forms the base for the other annuli as it is
located central to the other valves. Fibrous extensions from the annuli of the aortic valve extends
outwardly and anchors the other three valves. In addition to the four annuli there are other fibrous
components of the cardiac skeleton such as the right and left fibrous trigones, and the membranous

Describe Mariam s Microsystem Paper
1) Define the Macrosystem according to Urie Bronfenbrenner s ecological systems theory.
According to the Bronfenbrenner theory macrosystem would be defined as the society and
subculture in which an individual belongs. Macrosystem focuses on the individual s belief system,
lifestyle, patterns of social interaction and life changes. (Berns, 2013, p. 22). a.Describe the
macrosystem in Montgomery Alabama in 1955.
In my opinion, the macrosystem in 1955 in Montgomery Alabama would be considered a high

But, has it been with a little smoke and mirrors? Underlying numbers seem to say yes. Over their
last nine games, they are 5 4 0, and in the four losses, have allowed a staggering 20 goals while
showing up for, arguably, four out of 12 periods of play (two in Ottawa and two in New Jersey).
In four of their last six games, they have put less than 25 shots on goal. They are 26th in the
NHL in 5v5 possession (47.4%) and have a PDO of 100.6, showing they are not garnering results
due to inflated shooting or save percentages. Brock Nelson has no goals in 10 games, collecting
only 4 assists in that span. Ryan Strome has 3 2 5 in the same 10 game span, but two goals and
three points came in one game. In six of his past seven games, he is pointless. Anthony
Beauvillier has been a breath of fresh air, working as hard as any forward, but has six goals in 47
games and at 19 years old, now enters unknown conditioning territory. The Islanders are 20th in
the NHL in the faceoff circle, at 48.7%, and have allowed some bad goals, even lost a couple of
games, recently as a result of not being able to win a big draw. The addition by getting healthy
thinking is simply not good enough at this point, and may not be enough to get the Islanders over
the hump and into the 2017 playoffs. Travis Hamonic was struggling mightily before, how about
after 20+ games off? Shane Prince is a nice depth player but nothing other teams are going to fear.

  • 3. Consequences Of The Indian Removal Act The Indian Removal Act was a law signed by Andrew Jackson stating to provide for an exchange of lands with the Indians residing in any of the states or territories, and for their removal west of the river Mississippi, to make room for the white population to grow and become prosperous. This would mean that the Native Americans would lose their land and be forced to leave the graves of their fathers to walk thousands of miles into their new territory. Nonetheless, this act would cause thousands of Native American civilized tribes such as the creek, cherokee, chickasaw, and choctaw tribes to lose their lives and the dangerous journey filled with demise would later be called the Trail of Tears. I believe this act was unlawful, illegal and unconstitutional due to the fact that Jackson organized it because he despised the Native Americans. He merely saw them as people who could not adjust to the ways of the white man or act in a civilized manner. Jackson stated in his letter to congress that the general government kindly offers him a new home, and proposes to pay the whole expense of his removal and settlement ,however, this does not justify tearing the indians of their homes. If you were to put yourself in the position of the Natives you would come to the realization that they were just people trying to make a simple and honest living. Yet, Jackson loathed them since they did not live a refined live, instead they followed their own traditions and customs. What Jackson ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With the abundant amount of tobacco, smoking became inexpensive and easy to access across the nation. Along with the accessibility and reasonable price, smoking became a huge issue for individuals ranging from teens to adults. An advertisement campaign, called TheTruth, created this visual advertisement of the teenager smoking a cigaretteand the smoke of the cigarette illustrating a gun facing the teenagers head. From analyzing the advertisement, one can conclude about the high fatality rate of young teenagers smoking in the United States. The advertisement campaign focuses on the effects smoking has on teenagers in America. The creator of the visual uses a contrast between dark and light colors to portray negativity behind teen smoking, the use of symbolism to depict a gun from cigarette smoke conveys how each objects functions similarly, and the display of the text on the right hand side of the visual invokes fear to teen smokers. • 20. Reinhold Niebuhr s Model Of Christian Ethics Subject Area This thesis proposal falls under the umbrella of theological ethics. Specifically, the role of ecclesiology as a critical component of theological ethics. Thesis Statement The foundation premises for Reinhold Niebuhr s ethics of Christian social engagement can be improved by adding the ecclesiastical focus found in Dietrich Bonhoeffer s ethics of Christian social engagement. American theologian Reinhold Niebuhr offers a model of theological ethics grounded in anthropology, Christology, and eschatology. These three theological components create the basis for Christian realism, the crux of his theological ethics. However, nowhere in this approach does Niebuhr provide space for ecclesiology. Essentially, his idea of the Church is collapsed into the schema of Christianity. As he develops this model of ethics based in Christian realism, he fails to account for the appropriate influence and power of the Church. Therefore, I believe his theological ethics lack force, improved through the intentional inclusion of a vibrant and socially engaged ecclesiology. Similarly as price elasticity of demand, price elasticity of supply can be also an extremely useful piece of information for business firms in deciding how much to produce their products. To see why a business might care about the price elasticity of supply, let s consider how an increase in price might affect a business s total revenue. • 27. Cultural Awareness And Characteristics Within The... Cultural Awareness and characteristics within the Afghanistan culture. There are five major characteristics that define a culture; they are learned, shared, symbols, integrated, and dynamic. Culture is learned. It is not biological; we do not inherit it. Much of learning culture is unconscious. We learn culture from families, peers, institutions, and media. The process of learning culture is known as enculturation. While all humans have basic biological needs such as food, sleep, and sex, the way we fulfill those needs varies cross culturally. Culture is shared. Because we share culture with other members of our group, we are able to act in socially appropriate ways as well as predict how others will act. Despite the shared nature of culture, that doesn t mean that culture is homogenous (the same). The multiple cultural worlds that exist in any society are discussed in detail below. Culture is based on symbols. A symbol is something that stands for something else. Symbols vary cross culturally and are arbitrary. They only have meaning when people in a culture agree on their use. Language, money and art are all symbols. Language is the most important symbolic component of culture. Culture is integrated. This is known as holism, or the various parts of a culture being interconnected. All aspects of a culture are related to one another and to truly understand a culture, one must learn about all of its parts, not only a few. Culture is dynamic. This simply means that cultures ... • 30. The Film M By Fritz Lang We Are the Criminal There are instances in life in which we must accept things that are beyond our control and understanding. In the film M by Fritz Lang we are thrust into a situation of that exact caliber. The story tells of a man named Hans Beckert, who appears to be an average man by day. We first meet the character as a shadow and all that we hear is a whistle as he approaches a child which was left alone. Once the news is out about the missing child the town erupts in chaos, everybody seems to have their own theory about who this criminal is. Even the gangsters of the city have to participate in the manhunt in order to restore their normal criminal activity, they even stage a court room in which they plan on prosecuting Mr. ... The number of different crimes committed in the manhunt was much larger than Mr. Beckert had committed himself. Foucault gives a fairly good explanation stating that these terrible crimes are crimes against nature (pg. 5). These crimes are so heinous that something within ourselves knows that the crime is wrong. These crimes carry with them an aura of disgust, instead of a feeling of sorrow. He goes on to say that the individual in whom insanity and criminality met in such a way as to cause specialists to raise the question of their relationship, was not the man of the little everyday disorder, the pale silhouette moving about on the edges of law and morality, but rather the great monster (pg. 5). What he means by this is that the criminals he describes as dangerous individuals are not the same as the everyday criminals, these are somehow much worse. • 34. Jean Luc Godard s Le Mepris Le MГ©pris is a film distinct in Jean Luc Godard s career, for many reasons: amongst others, it was his first foray into a more big budget, large scale production. Ironically or perhaps purposefully one of the overarching themes explored within Le MГ©pris is maintaining artistic integrity, whilst attaining commercial success. Nowhere is this better explored than the famous middle sequence: their extended argumentindoors. I aim to analyse this scene s depiction as not only a simple argument between tumultuous lovers, but as it s symbolic exploration of their decaying relationship as a whole, encompassing many of the overarching themes of Le MГ©pris love, ennui, and of course, contempt. Significant too at the beginning of this scene, is the way the camera follows Lucille and Paul. The majority of the time they are framed in shots alone, only in passing does the frame capture them both. Though they are inhabiting the same space, the choice to capture them separately is very deliberate, highlighting the isolation mounting within their relationship as they start to grow apart; tying into the existential theme that eventually, we all die alone. The vehicle of a failing relationship to depict this existential dread is an apt choice; nowhere more is isolation emphasized than in contrast of it s antithesis: once romantic love, the communion of two souls. Paul seems engrossed with his letters, pacing around the apartment staring at them, never really lifting his eyes to properly meet his wife s gaze. The letters are symbolic of his work his priorities now lie there, and not his wife. • 35. The Rule of the Major Generals The Major General rule was an idea by Cromwell to help reduce the threat of royalist conspiracy and to help further his need for healing and settling . However, the rule lasted less than a year due its unpopularity and lack of support from the local gentry. In addition, the Major Generals themselves were either inconsistent in their application of the aims or were negligent in their duties. Furthermore, the unrealistic aims of the rule set them up for failure before the rule had even begun, historian Farr comments on the limits of the generals power and the fact that it s no wonder the rule failed as the scope of the tasks were impossible to fulfil. Whilst all of these factors play a part in the failure of the Major Generals rule, the most significant is its negligence by the Major Generals themselves. Its unpopularity and unrealistic aims could have been overcome if every generals was both optimistic about their role and fully committed to the cause. The lack of responsibility of the Major Generals led to the public not thinking they could support the rule, and rather than help the rule, cause its demise. Farr further suggests that it was its practical failure, rather than alleged unpopularity which led to the rule failing. However, Sharp explains that the establishment of the Major Generals did more to alienate the gentry than any other move and in terms on of healing and settling , it was a disaster. As an individual s ideas are spread to common knowledge, many commence to voice opinions, often in support, of his or her values. As followers of the ideas increase, actions of the majority opinion become a common, everyday occurrence, and the beliefs of those against the majority start to diminish. As time passes, this one belief from a significant individual shapes the mindset of large populations, altering contemporary societies into those that only push for the one action of the majority, no matter how unearthly. However, when certain individuals that have the minority s opinion make known the unethical actions of the majority, true change starts to occur. The lives of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Elie Wiesel affected the speeches that they wrote as both of their experiences, reflected in each speech, brought acknowledgement to the unjustified actions of their respective contemporary societies and therefore brought about change in both the actions and values of individuals in each society. The early 1960s brought about multiple debates on the issue of equality among citizens of color and status. Sometimes it was not a positive relationship, but other times it was. China in specific had a trade relationship with the Western countries, such as America and Great Britain, which developed into a war known as the Opium War. A relationship with the Western countries at times caused tension in Japan with threats of imperialism when they did not appreciate that Japan was isolated. The threat of imperialism and isolation in Japan went hand and hand, Chinaquestioned if they should be isolated or not, and Korea was isolated with a few exceptions. In the 19th and early 20th century, Japan and China looked on the people of other countries as uneducated people who would die if Japan or China did not help them. One of the reasons that they believed this was because Japan and China believed that they had already been through an enlightenment period that brought them knowledge. They believed that until other countries when through an enlightenment of their own, they were barbarians and needed to be taken care of by an already enlightened country such as China or Japan. The citizens of China during this period questioned if isolation was a valuable choice. They stayed together and really thought they were going to win. They really thought they were going to win after one of the most crushing, crushing pitches, home runs we ve ever had hit against us. For our guys to run off the field and still think they can win that game says a lot about the guys in that uniform. WVU had a 3 1 lead with two runners on and two outs in the top of the ninth. Topic This paper explores the concept of cultivation theory and the way in which violent programming on television can instil fear and influence perceptions when it comes to experiencing crime in the community. In using research findings to explore their hypothesis, the authors focus on analyzing data which underpins their prediction that television viewers are influenced to believe in a social reality, in this case a life threatened by crime, incongruous or actual crime rates. How the condition came about and what it is named after. Who is most affected with this condition and who some of the symptoms that the people affected with this condition could potentially present. Of course, like many great, well known conditions that are present in the world, there are some ethical dilemmas that are of topic amongst the population. For an example, some of the people that are affected with the disease might participate in illegal activities. Should the people be convicted of the crimes that they involuntarily participated in or be excused of the crimes? Another area that also plan to investigate about the StockholmSyndrome is the embedded health messages that are in the entertainment media; specifically the movies that are produced and aired for the public to watch, relate and educate. At 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, August 23, 1973 a lone gunman destroyed a bank called Sveriges Kreditbank with a machine gun while yelling the words the party has just begun! Four ... • 51. Euthanasia And The Closely Related Procedure Euthanasia and the closely related procedure, assisted suicide, are some of the most highly debated topics in ethics. Although the procedures are different in name, their definitions are quite similar. Euthanasia can be defined in two ways: passive or active. Passive euthanasia is defined as allowing the patient s illness to kill them; refusing medical treatment. Active euthanasia, however, is defined as killing through lethal injection, which also happens to be known as assisted suicide. From the perspective of the deeply religious to those who just value the life of both themselves and others, euthanasia and assisted suicide are fancy terms for murder. From my perspective, euthanasia and assisted suicide are procedures that should only be allowed for those who are suffering from incurable and physically painful illnesses that incapacitate them to the point where they cannot properly function in society. What constitutes proper function in society will be discussed later on, but it plays a pivotal role in the decision that one makes to die or not. Now some may disagree and say that no matter the circumstance, one does not have the right to end their own life; this too will be discussed in further detail. This essay will focus on the aspects mentioned above and will provide the necessary answer to this debate between life and death. As stated by Nowell Smith, but if we grant, as no doubt we all do, that everyone has a right to life, if follows as once that we have a right ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Computational Modeling, An Artificial Intelligence... 1. Abstract: The Ccost estimate is important for projects throughout its life cycle, starting from feasibility studies till tendering stage and developing BOQ, it provides significant information that even may serve project budgeting and controlling if reliable. This paper presents a comparison between two cost estimate predictive modeling, an artificial intelligence approach using neural networks as non parametric modeling; and multiplely regression modeling that represents advanced engineering statics a parametric modeling. Results show that neural networks have advantages when dealing with data that for which there is little a priori knowledge of the appropriate cost estimate relationship to select for regression modeling. However, in cases where an appropriate CER can be identified, regression models have significant advantages in terms of accuracy, variability, model creation and model examination. Both simulated and actual data sets are used for comparison. Our research is applied for a specific package of construction projects (concrete work) based on 17 projects with a 115 records. Key words: construction projects, cost estimate. Concrete work, neural network, multiply regression. 2. Introduction: Cost estimate is the productive process used to quantify cost and price the resources to achieve project scope; the output can be used for many purposes throughout project life cycle such as: Determining the economic feasibility ... • 53. The Human Heart Essays Introduction In our world organisms occupy a sliding scale of complexity. On one hand we have the single cell organisms, where all necessary functions for their life are carried out within that one cell. At the other extreme we have extremely complex multicellular organisms, of which humans are perhaps the cardinal member. Obviously, with increased capacity comes increased abilities. Complex organisms are able to manipulate their environment to a greater extent then their simpler cousins. While this has a lot of advantages, it also presents interesting biological problems. With the increased complexity multicellular organisms must have systems to deliver nutrients, signaling molecules, and biochemical building blocks to every cell. In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While contraction in skeletal muscle is triggered by motor neurons under central control, certain cardiac muscle variants exhibit autorhythmicity. This means that that they are capable of producing their own depolarizing electrical potential. The cardiomyocytes that are capable of producing their own electrical potentials are found in what is referred to as the electrical condition system of the heart. This system is comprised of specializes cardiomyocytes that are autorhythmic and are able to conduct electrical potentials rapidly. These specialized structures include the sinoatrial node, atrioventricular node and bundle, and Purkinje fibers. While the bulk of the heart is myocardium, there are structural components that are pertinent. The four cardiac valves can be seen in a transverse section of the heart at the base of the ventricles. Figure grey s cardiac skeleton Surrounding each of these valves are dense fibrous rings or annuli made of connective tissue that forms the cardiac skeleton. The annuli of the aortic valve forms the base for the other annuli as it is located central to the other valves. Fibrous extensions from the annuli of the aortic valve extends outwardly and anchors the other three valves. In addition to the four annuli there are other fibrous components of the cardiac skeleton such as the right and left fibrous trigones, and the membranous septum. The right fibrous trigone is also know as the central ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Describe Mariam s Microsystem Paper 1) Define the Macrosystem according to Urie Bronfenbrenner s ecological systems theory. According to the Bronfenbrenner theory macrosystem would be defined as the society and subculture in which an individual belongs. Macrosystem focuses on the individual s belief system, lifestyle, patterns of social interaction and life changes. (Berns, 2013, p. 22). a.Describe the macrosystem in Montgomery Alabama in 1955. In my opinion, the macrosystem in 1955 in Montgomery Alabama would be considered a high context macrosystem. When looking at how their society functioned, their culture emphasized tradition, cooperation and group identity. The society at the time operated on a belief system that segregated blacks and whites and believed that colored ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 55. The New York Islanders Board Today, the New York Islanders board a flight for Dallas, a day earlier than they would have left under normal circumstances, to continue their nine game road trip. What s not normal about a Tuesday in February? In case you have been living under a rock, tomorrow at 3pm ET is the NHL s annual trade deadline. And with the Islanders engaged in a back room brawl for the final Eastern conference wild card spot, it s their last opportunity to search for help outside the organization, help that could get them over the hump and into the playoffs, where every team, thanks to parity that now rules the day, has a chance at the big prize. Third place in the Metropolitan division is a pipe dream at this point, with New York trailing Columbus by 15... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But, has it been with a little smoke and mirrors? Underlying numbers seem to say yes. Over their last nine games, they are 5 4 0, and in the four losses, have allowed a staggering 20 goals while showing up for, arguably, four out of 12 periods of play (two in Ottawa and two in New Jersey). In four of their last six games, they have put less than 25 shots on goal. They are 26th in the NHL in 5v5 possession (47.4%) and have a PDO of 100.6, showing they are not garnering results due to inflated shooting or save percentages. Brock Nelson has no goals in 10 games, collecting only 4 assists in that span. Ryan Strome has 3 2 5 in the same 10 game span, but two goals and three points came in one game. In six of his past seven games, he is pointless. Anthony Beauvillier has been a breath of fresh air, working as hard as any forward, but has six goals in 47 games and at 19 years old, now enters unknown conditioning territory. The Islanders are 20th in the NHL in the faceoff circle, at 48.7%, and have allowed some bad goals, even lost a couple of games, recently as a result of not being able to win a big draw. The addition by getting healthy thinking is simply not good enough at this point, and may not be enough to get the Islanders over the hump and into the 2017 playoffs. Travis Hamonic was struggling mightily before, how about after 20+ games off? Shane Prince is a nice depth player but nothing other teams are going to fear. Cal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
