What is more important:
Media strategy or creative strategy?
Cecilia Setiawan
10167897
Advertising is a partnership between creative and media strategies. Each play a very important role in
creating an advertisement, that it is almost impossible to draw a line between the two. Alasdair Reid
(1994) asserts that as early as in the 1990s creative and media strategies were still very much
inseparable due to the fact that advertising used to be a very simple business (1994, p. 15) producing
an ad was more focused on creation of the content, rather than the placement. These days, however,
with new media spawning, separating media and creative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each medium has its own specific attributes and so each influences people in different ways print
media, for example, has a tactical sense of touch, while eletronic media is more visually exciting.
Deciding which to go for beforehand to reach a particular type of audience is vital to a campaign s
success it is important to note, however, that choosing the wrong medium can bring a negative impact
to the product. This speaks true for promotional materials that are considered annoying , such as junk
mail or pop up online ads. Most of the time, no matter how appealing the offer or advert content is, the
reader will simply dismiss it, because they have developed such abhorrence of that vehicle.
Bronner and Neijens have found that when consumers are highly engaged with a media vehicle, they
can be more responsive to advertising (2006). Coca Cola used this to their advantage when, in 2010,
they felt that their regular medium of TV was not attracting the younger generation anymore and they
decided to break outside their usual platform (Shayon, 2011). The Big Idea was recycled from prior
campaigns Open Happiness but this time, knowing that young adults and teens have been spending
more time on the Internet than on TV, they opted to create a form of online advertisement a viral
video, of a magical Coke machine placed in a student cafeteria that omitted unexpected gifts

Homer s Odyssey
Once the Odyssey had entered an orbit around Earth, Chief Steward Pars stood at the front of the
cabin and announced, Ladies and gentlemen, we will begin our tour. Please follow me. They went in
single file from the main cabin through a manhole and into the dining compartment, filled with orderly
rows of slate gray tables and chairs fixed to the deck. On the starboard side, they could hear the
clanging of pots and pans from the kitchen. The lambent light throughout the Odyssey was neither
glaring nor menacing in any way, but rather they mimicked natural sunlight, which had a salutary
effect on the passengers. Through the portholes, they caught brief, reassuring glimpses of their home
planet, Earth. As they exited the dining compartment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, in order to put everything in perspective, we must return to the dawn of our universe. In the
beginning, nearly fourteen billion years ago, the Big Bang created time and space from a single
infinitesimally small point that exploded and released tremendous energy causing the universe to
expand as it still is today. Specifically, the energy was in the form of electrons, protons, and neutrons.
Protons and neutrons later clumped together to form the nucleus around which electrons orbited to
produce the very first atoms, such as hydrogen. In other words, atoms make up the building blocks of
all matter. The electrons, protons, and neutrons are the subatomic particles. Hydrogen, the lightest
atom, has one proton in its nucleus around which an electron orbits. Clouds of hydrogen atoms formed
the primordial nebulae. When the nebulae became thick enough, the hydrogen atoms clumped
together, amassing gravity and even more hydrogen atoms to eventually form the core of the stars.
After two hydrogen nuclei collided and fused at the high temperatures in the core, the element helium
formed in a process called nuclear fusion. Nuclear fusion releases tremendous energy that makes stars
give off light and heat. Our Sun shines chiefly due to nuclear fusion. In fact, stars first

Literary Analysis Of The Storm
Kate Chopin implies in the selection, The Storm that the setting and the plot reinforces each character
s action, but only two characters exemplify the title itself, Calixta and Alcee. The storm becomes the
central element of Alcee s unrequited love for Calixta and ultimately the instrument of their forbidden
love to each other. Hurston concurs in the The Storm that a forbidden relationship can become a
cancerous love and silent death sentence. The Storm s theme was based on Love, Immoral affair, and
Freedom. Chopin s technique of foreshadowing, symbolism, irony, tone, and imagery set the plot for
Alcee, Calixta, Bobinot, and Clarisse in this short story. A bolt struck a tall chinaberry tree at the edge
of the field. It filled all visible space with a blinding glare and crash seemed to invade the very boards
they stood upon (425). The writer used Imagery to depict how nature shook the foundation of their
respective marriages. The significance of the tall chinaberry tree that crashed the boards was that it
made Bobinot and Clarisse almost irrelevant in the story. The author used the metaphorical expression
to indicate how the storm schemed Bobinot and Clarisse out of the reckoning. The author employed
the use of symbolism in the description of the storm. Storm, a natural phenomenon that brings about
extreme weather condition that might lead to an undesirable outcome. The Storm in the context of the
selection brought about a positive outcome. The storm in the story is not the physical storm that
occurred outside with heavy downpour, but the coming together of Alcee and Bobinot. A physical
storm forms when the atmosphere is saturated with water and droplets of water pour out from the sky.
The symbolic importance of the storm represents the liberation of Alcee and Calixta, from the
shackles of societal or moral expectation. He pushed her hair back from her face that was warm and
streaming her (425). Although Alcee pushed Calixta s hair back to see her face, the author s
interpretation was not physical. Chopin meant that Alcee was able to set Calixta free from the bondage
of marriage temporarily. Bobinot played a major role in the plot that led to infidelity between Calixta
and Alcee.

St. John Chrysostom s Homily
Sermons on Christmas morning focus on the birth of a baby wrapped in swaddling cloth laid in a
manger in ancient Bethlehem, such sermons proclaim the wonders of the Nativity. However, such
sermons do more than just communicate the joy of our Savior s birth, for this celebration, as
exemplified in St. John Chrysostom s homily, is an ideal setting to address the question of who is
Christ . There are many themes and topics in Chrysostom s Christmas morning sermon and through
his speaking of Jesus Christ s birth, the Incarnation, he addresses heresies, enumerates Christian
doctrine, and announces various elements of Christology. Chrysostom opens his sermons rejoicing
over the salvific moment of Christmas and makes known how Christmas is a merciful gift and
expression of true humility by God (110). Such an importance of the grace of this moment is also
found in the writings of St. Leo the Great and St. Augustine as they both affirm this is an act of
generosity not failure or necessity by God. This is important to redemption and to Christology because
it shows how Christ was not obligated to save humanity but did so out of love of Creation. With this
gift makes it salvation possible, for without the Word s free participation our unpayable debt could not
be satisfied as St. Augustine explains. While His incarnational gift allowed Christ to the Savior and
Mediator by costing the Son of God to suffer and die on the Cross, this gift did not cause Him to be
departed from the

Strengths And Strengths Of An Individual
Introduction
Capitalizing on one s strengths and using a strengths based approach, rather than a weakness based
approach to personal development has been proven to lead to extraordinary leadership. Focusing on
the strengths that one holds as an individual will help one create a better understanding of the intrinsic
motivations one holds, as well as emote the confident and realistic actions that are needed by leaders.
For this reason, I will be going through the process of the Reflected Best Self exercise, developed by
the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. By undertaking this significant exercise, I
will be able to immerse myself in my strengths and find out what I have to offer myself, those close to
me, as well as future and current associates, thereby helping me understand what kind of leader I am
at the moment as well as finding out how I can become the leader I want to become. This in itself will
serve as my best self portrait which will identify who I am at my best as well as being a conduit to
understanding how to further develop my strengths.
Initial Perspective on Strengths
I have always thought of myself as being a very precise person. No matter what it is that I am doing,
whether it be cleaning around the house, or doing my homework, I always take the time to do it
thoroughly. I am able to do this because I develop a routine for everything I do, even if it is a new
experience. I associate this to my need for having everything be orderly

Elvis Presley Research Paper
Elvis Presley was born to Vernon and Gladys Presley in 1935. Gladys was very influential in leading
Elvis towards his singing career. Elvis s accomplishments were also influenced by a man named Sam
Philips, the owner of a Memphis recording studio. This led him to becoming a national phenomenon.
Cloud David quoted, The Rock and Roll philosophy created Elvis Presley and it killed Elvis Presley,
(Cloud, 1999). Many people think what created Elvis to become so famous also brought him towards
his downfall. Gladys and Vernon did indeed take care of Elvis growing up. On Elvis s eleventh
birthday, his mother took him to the store with high intentions of buying a .22 rifle. Instead, being an
overprotective mom, she convinced him to buy a guitar. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Pros And Cons Of Family Farming
How important is farming? Farming is only one of the most influential industries in America. With
that being said, why has modern farming become one of the most unprofitable and family
disorientated professions: don t people enjoy clothing, bacon, ice cream, corn? We can all come to the
conclusion that we enjoy these products and appreciate the hard working people who provide them, so
why is the government trying to replace family farms with large industrial farms? The ideology of
bigger is better always seems to produce a positive outcome, although does it apply to the appraisal of
farming, or does it neglect it. Recently in America, there has been a decrease in family farming;
according to article The Disappearing Family Farm , since the 1930 s there are roughly 5 Million
fewer family farms in America, and out of the 2 million remaining, only 565,000 are family operated.
(USDA, 2017). The drastic decrease in family farming has begun to ignite questions and debate within
the American population; why this trend is occurring. The first official reason is the new laws
implemented by our government have made it insufficiently harder to build a profit causing many
farms to shut down. First, we begin with regulations. The government agency, most popularly known
as the EPA, or the Environmental Protection Agency , is an agency that has caused the decrease of
many family farms due to the inadequate amount of regulations that a farmer must comply to. The
EPA proposes

The Social Hierarchy Of Julius Caesar
In every sense of life, there is a hierarchy. Every single being is constantly being compared to one
another until either or comes out on top. In the play, The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, there is no denying
the clear social hierarchy presented in the Roman Empire. Undoubtedly, the dictator of Rome, Julius
Caesar, sits at the very top of the social hierarchy at this time. Similarly to Caesar, Jean Paul Marat, a
politician during the French Revolution of 1789, is also considered on the more elite half of the social
hierarchy during that time. The social status of these two men didn t make them any less susceptible to
very real problems, including physical disabilities, murder and incontrol of what happens after death.

On the other hand, Marat was stabbed only once by a woman named Charlotte Corday. In The Death
Of Marat, a single puncture can be seen on his chest, with a scarce amount of blood running down his
torso, not nearly enough to be bathed in like Caesar was (David). Both of these men died at the hands
of another human by the act of getting stabbed.
After the murder of Caesar and Marat, the two would come to be portrayed in a certain manner.
Because of their status, these portrayals had long lasting effects when compared to the death of
someone lower in the social hierarchy. In The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, Brutus allows Marc Antony to
speak on Caesar s behalf in front of the citizens of Rome. Marc Antony says He was my friend,
faithful and just to me [...]When that the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept (Shakespeare. III. ii. 85,
91). The word choice, such as faithful and wept , portray Caesar as kind and vulnerable. Antony also
adds Here is the will, and under Caesar s seal./ To every Roman citizen he gives, /To every several
man, seventy five drachmas. (Shakespeare III. ii. 240 243). After these statements made by Antony,
the people of Rome see Caesar as a once worthy human being who cared about them. Marc Antony
paints Caesar in a way that influences the Romans to mourn, instead of celebrate, his death. This
change of opinion causes the Romans to hate the

Essay On Child Discipline
Every human being has been disciplined at some point of their life. The term discipline can be defined
as to teach knowledge and skills; however, it is often equated to punish and control in parenthood. The
different ways to discipline a child has been a hot subject since the early times of the biblical period.
Many states in the United States had created laws to protect children from child abuse. In the last
decade child abuse has been on a rapidly growing issue. The goal of parenting is to provide a child
with the necessaries and emotional care to further their physical, emotional and social devolvement.
This can be a challenging task to meet because every parent has their own discipline method to get
their child fit for the real world, so they can be successful in life. The five discipline methods are time
out, Logical Consequences, Natural Consequences, Withholding Privilege, and disciplinary spanking.
Although many parents believe that disciplinary spanking is the best discipline method for a child, but
many studies shown that it should not be practiced due to acting out of rage and can have future
problems in a child adulthood. Finding the right discipline method can be difficult and stressful tasks.
Many parents want the best for their child as a result this can create many issues to figure out which
discipline method should be use. When a child doesn t follow direction it can be a headache for a
parent. Time out is a good method for younger children around the age

The Rocky Mountains Lander s Peak
Describe: Albert Bierstadt s The Rocky Mountains, Lander s Peak (1863) and David P. Bradley s,
Indian Country Today (1997) are created by different authors, possible for different reasons, but they
have a similar subject matter. They both picture nature. Bierstadt s painting shows the landscape of the
Rocky Mountains, hence the name. Pictured are rolling valleys, rugged mountains, and what looks
like a civilization of Native Americans. On the other hand, Bradley s painting is an example of how
modern India is viewed through his eyes. Instead of beautiful hills and mountains, he illustrates roads,

Bierstadt uses gradient features of color in his painting. He has lighter colors in the back of his
painting and darker colors in the front. This allows the painting to be subtle and aid viewers in
realizing the subject matter. Bradley, unlike Bierstadt, uses variety in his work of art. His painting is
made up of high intensity. He uses vivid colors and even shapes to express the subject matter. The
different colors used catches the eyes of those who view it. The artists chose excellent colors to go
with their paintings. Interpret: Bierstadt s painting shows the Rocky Mountains in the 1800 s. The
beautiful scenery expresses how stunning the world was during that time. There were waterfalls, tee
pees, and sprouting trees. The Earth has been bruised and beaten. The scenery illustrated in this
painting is rare. However, Bradley s painting seems to show what landscapes are like presently even if
it was created in the late 1900 s. The construction, the entertainment by the dancers express that
Bradley believes that India is more of a tourist spot now. It is not appreciated for its beauty anymore.
People come to watch the traditional dances, not participate. They come and go, they do not usually
settle. But he does show a person shooting an arrow at the billboard that says, Land Development . So,
this shows that maybe some people want the authenticity of India back, maybe even the

Objectivity And Journalism
Every journalist student will tell you that the most important aspect of being a journalist is to be
impartial, objective, and to always report the facts not your opinion. Everyone knows what objectivity
means, yet do they all follow the rules? Is it even possible for journalists to be objective? Most
importantly, is objectivity a concept that even exists? I m going to examine the evidence.
We live in a word where most journalists and news corporations are labeled as being corrupt , biased
and deliberately misinforming. Corporations such as FOX news in the US is constantly criticised as
being propaganda for right wing bias, and in the UK we have similar situations with the BBC, Sky
News, and newspapers such as The Sun and the Daily Mail. In truth, pretty much every news outlet on
the planet shows a certain degree of bias and non objectivity.
Objectivity is the main ethos of journalism, being one of the first things a journalism student is taught.
It gives journalists a set of rules to report news accurately and without bias in favour of a particular
party. Though certain aspects of this can differ should you be a columnist or feature writer, this tends
to be the general consensus. A quick skim through the dictionary tells us that objectivity is The quality
or character of being objective; (in later use) esp. the ability to consider or represent facts,
information, etc., without being influenced by personal feelings or opinions; impartiality; detachment.

Visa has become one the most promising stocks in the credit card industry. Its stock symbol is V, and
it trades in the financial sector of the The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). As an investor, Visa has
remained one of my most lucrative investments. In 2008, I purchased Visa as an initial public offer at
$59.00 per share. Since that time, the stock has climbed as high as $248.00 and split 4 to 1 on March
18, 2015 with a split share price of $62.00. Although the reason for splitting remains undeclared, the
value of the stock has remained consistent with steady growth toward a more promising future.
Visa, as an Investor Business Daily Leaderboard stock, is recognized as one of a select number of
companies screened for having the most potential for big gains. (Alva, 2015) The Visa conducts over
65% (over two billion credit cards, debit cards, and many other financial services) of the United States
and some foreign countries credit card transactions, which is more than its competitors MasterCard
and Citigroup. For fiscal year 2013, investors saw a 34.5% return (5 year annualized), and Visa
reported $11,778,000 in assets, marking a 13% increase in revenue. (Fortune 500 2014, n.d.) Many
analysts, such as Bill Carcache of Nomura, have applauded Visa as a company with a most promising

Linguistic Genius Of Babies Book Review
Patricia Kuhl s TED Talk lecture, The Linguistic Genius of Babies, is an overview of how infants as
young as six months old are capable of discriminating between the units of all languages equally, but
at ten months, infants tend to become better at distinguishing between units of their native language
and worse at those of a foreign language. This shows that there is a critical period not just for language
acquisition but also for the ability to acquire a second language. Therefore, parents who with for their
children to have a bilingual advantage should expose infants to a second language as soon as possible.
Noam Chomsky believed that humans are genetically designed with the capacity to learn language.
Humans have a system of common rules and properties, called universal grammar, which allows us to
learn any world language. It appears that Kuhl s research supports this theory. Kuhl exposed American
infants, who had only been previously exposed to English, to Mandarin during the critical period for
language acquisition. Babies exposed to both English and Mandarin showed equivalent statistics for
language discrimination. This exposure alters the Language Acquisitions Device (LAD) in the brain
and makes infants the citizens of the world, (Kuhl, 2010) Chomsky believed them to be, rather than
the culture bound listeners, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While humans are biologically designed to produce language, with exception of reasons of defect,
there is still a time limit during which infants must be exposed to language or risk developmental
delays. These delays are not just in the area of language acquisitions, but are related to other cognitive
functions as well, as we saw in the example of Justin, the boy who was raised as a dog by his
caregiver. Language acquisition is essential in the development of the ability to problem solve and to

Theme Of Master Harold And The Boys
During more than forty years, the Apartheid regime in South Africa has disadvantaged Blacks and
deprived them from their humanity. In this context of discrimination, Athol Fugard wrote a play
entitled Master Harold...and the Boys in 1950.The story occurs in the Saint Georges Park Tea Room in
Port Elizabeth. The play involves Master Harold commonly called Hally in the play, who is seventeen
year old white teenager and two thirty year old black men, Sam and Willie who work for Hally s
mother as waiters. The contrast between the characters is used to reflect the realities during the
Apartheid period. Therefore in the play, Fugard emphasizes a theme of black valorisation through

As an illustration, Hally mentioned when Sam succeeded in making a kite it works. We ve done it

as a skillful person in matter of creativity. Furthermore, Sam told Hally about his home works you
should be grateful. That is why you started passing your exams. You tried to be better than me (Fugard
27). This quote shows that the teenager was conscious that Sam is competent intellectually. Therefore
the author shows that the black knows more than working as a waiter. This is a piece of evidence that
black men are as intelligent as white and thus they should be given the same learning opportunities. To
conclude, Fugard uses the friendship between Sam and Hally to make a comparison and to prove that
Sam is competent and intellectually bright. Fugard moreover deals with black valorization by using
the occasional white supremacy displayed by

Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Theory Essay
There are many methods for studying human social development. In Erik Erikson s psychosocial
theory, social interactions are an important and determining factor of lifespan development. Although
Erikson was influenced by many of Sigmund Freud s studies, his studies were based upon
psychosocial development versus psychosexual development. Erikson, like Freud, emphasized the
importance of childhood on personality development, but unlike Freud, he believed that development
occurred across the entire lifespan. Erikson thought personality developed through a series of eight
stages each signified by a crisis . According to Erikson, if the individual successfully overcomes the
situation it helps to develop a lifelong skillset, but if the crisis is not successfully resolved it may
hinder development. The sense of competence or the sense of inadequacy at each stage ultimately
develops an individual s identity or all of the beliefs, ideals, and values that shape and guide a person s
behavior (Cherry). By examining my own social development through life and gathering information
from my parents, specifically about my childhood, I made many comparisons to and connections to
my own identity. As Erikson s stages are confined by age, I considered the first five stages of the
psychosocial theory of development and related them to my life. Trust versus mistrust is Erikson s first
stage and occurs during infancy, which is from birth to about two years of age. Because of an infant s

Ethical Issues In Social Media
The usage of social media and other electronic communication is rising very quickly as numbers of
social media platforms, applications and outlets are continuing to advance. Many people use online
journals, social media platforms, online chat rooms and symposium to connect personally, also

creepy to show up at one of these meetings. These new students would feel uncomfortable going to a
meeting and not knowing anyone. According to researchers have concluded that although Facebook is
the most popular social network in United States where we can communicate, many college students
prefer to use Twitter because it is more practical and easier to continue a dialogue, as it is just 140
characters per post. Twitter defines itself as a network of real time information that can connect to
issues of concern. Simply, you have to look for interest accounts and follow conversations . This
makes students have had extended and richer discussions on Twitter more than in class. I think that

Strict Dress Code
What Can I Wear
What can I wear to work? Some employers have a strict dress code, while others are very laid back.
According to the type of business, the organization does could dictate the type of attire and grooming
that is expected from the organization. Does the employer have a right to tell you what you can and
cannot wear to work or even how to be groomed? In my opinion and through my experiences in life I
would say yes they do, they have a business to run, and customers require certain expectations and
those expectations are handed down to the employees. Employee rights must be taking into
consideration in the process, along with other reasons for the policies implemented such as setting
guidelines for dress and grooming that could be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, we have issues occasionally and we handle those swiftly and consistently with all
employees. If we did not have these guidelines in place, we would have employees showing up in flip
flops to move pallets and heavy boxes with a high risk of foot injuries. Others would be caught in the
buffing wheel due to a loose tank top that had been cut down the side. How do I know this? The
reason I know this is because even with the policy we have in place these few incidents have
happened and the employees in both of these situations that I mentioned actually had the accident
described.
In addition, different businesses would require different standards and could have a much stricter dress
code policy. Employees that have direct interaction with the public should be well groomed and
dressed appropriately. The more formal or professional the culture the need is greater for a policy
governing hygiene and grooming along with dress code. In addition, organizations that require work
with heavy machinery and dangerous machinery requires standards to satisfy safety hazards (Sussman,
2017). Keep in mind that employees have rights that need to be taken into consideration when policies

The best ways to meet the challenges of community and human
Interaction in the Internet Age
The Internet is playing a very important role in the evolution of digital technology, but although it has
seen remarkable growth over the last few years, its dispersion remains highly asymmetric. It is widely
believed that the so called information age will bring radical change and improvement, and countries
all over the world are busy with constructing the necessary infrastructure, the information
superhighways, in order to meet the challenges of the information society of the twenty first century.

Communication is the most important one topic because people communicate no matter what we need
communication to express ourselves to others. Appiah said it is more important to communicate one
another in person instead of using other networks. The conversation is the first important step to
understand others. People of other cultures will then learn to accept the beliefs of others and by
changing our minds , Appiah makes it clear that conversing with people does not often begin with
agreeing on a set of principles, but rather exchanging our ideas and learning from another one.
Eventhough, the internet can be helpful with education, it can also be unreliable. However, The Hive
by Marchall Poe, was the openness of Wikipedia. Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia that anyone can
use it. This might work for some people specially that ones who attend school or college. This is very
helpful for them because in Wikipedia you can search or find anything you would like. Since anyone
can write, or delete or use information off of Wikipedia, it makes it less controversial because anyone
can put their input into the website. If don t agree with something, that s alright because you can add
your own opinion. Poe describes how authors of certain wiki pages write with a bias to support their
facts. Facts become opinions when feelings and emotions of bias get involved. Instead of relying on

Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Man By James Joyce
Introduction
James Joyce (1882 1941) was an Irish novelist and poet, considered to be one of the most influential
writers in the modernist avant garde of the early 20th century. In his early twenties he emigrated
permanently to continental Europe, living in Trieste, Paris and Zurich. James Joyce is now known as
one of the greatest writers of the twentieth century. Even during his time, he was respected as one of
the best writers of his generation. Still, his works were so experimental that he was not read by the
general public and was often misunderstood even by his contemporary writers. His writing became
more and more hard on readers. A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man often confuses readers who
are not used to experimentation in form, but Ulysses and Finnegan s Wake are rarely read in their
entirely even by people trained in such experimentation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reader will notice that the names of Joyce s schools are used in his novel. The streets of Dublin
are named as Stephen walks along them. Joyce s family s fortunes are represented in generally the
same way that Joyce experienced them in his life. It is a novel, not an autobiography, but the line
between those two genre is a thin one. It is therefore tempting to see all that Stephen thinks about art
as Joyce s own view of art. However, readers will sense Joyce, the writer s ironic distance from
Stephen, the fictional figure of the artist. A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man is an example of a
Bildungsroman, a German term describing a story of the education and intellectual growth of a young
man. A story of an artist s development from childhood through

Mental Cases And Disabled Essay
The price the survivors of war pay is through the loss of their own bodies and minds. In Wilfred Owen
s poems Mental Cases, and Disabled, the aftermath the devastating effect war has on the people who
participate in it is shown through the pitying voice of an outside speaker. Mental Cases, focuses on the
psychological trauma, showing soldiers who suffer from PTSD and shell shock. Disabled, focuses on
the physical trauma of the soldiers by describing one soldier who has lost his legs and is permanently
disfigured, rendering him unable to enjoy the rest of his life. The psychological trauma of war
portrayed in Mental Cases, is conveyed through the chilling, almost hellish, diction used. The

enlist in the army. No competent human being would purposely throw away their knees or even pour

he purposely gave up all these things. The price of admission into the war was his legs and the rest of

The Religions Of Shinto And Buddhism
The two religions that are located in Japan are Shinto and Buddhism. The two religions in japan are
extraordinarily unalike, while Shintoism believes that every living thing including rocks and sounds
contain some type of god in them, and Buddhism is concerned with the soul and afterlife that happens
in Buddhism. The religions differ very much from each other with little similarities. Buddhism and
Shintoism differ in one using shrines while the other has temples, the two both have religious
ceremonies, and one believes in the afterlife while the other does not. Shinto was originated in Japan
and formed in five hundred BCE. Shinto the way of the Kami is the religion of Japan that was first
used in the 6th century. Shinto has no founder, no sacred texts and no formalized system. Shinto is
uniquely Japanese, and believes in a god named Kami, the Shinto believe that Kami exists both as
spiritual beings but as well as in nature. The Kami is not like Western Religions, because the Kami is
not perceived as an all powerful god, but as a creative force. Buddhism was formed in the 5th century
B.C.E. in northern India. The religion was started by a man named Siddhartha Gautama, who is also
referred to as the Buddha or the enlightened one. The way this man started the religion was by training
his meditation for six years, and then once he felt he was close to full enlightenment he went into
meditation and vowed not to come out until he reached full enlightenment. Buddha then

when a business works.
He s been involved in countless companies from Mercedes Benz to Garage.com.
He knows about VCs because he founded a matchmaking service to connect investors with
entrepreneurs.
It s no wonder then that his pitch deck is often the most cited template for pitching to VCs. Kawasaki s
reputation in the business world oozes knowledge.
So, what does a man behind so many successful ventures advocate in terms of pitch decks?
Simplicity.
He follows his 10/20/30 rule of PowerPoint. This means, you have a pitch deck with ten slides, your

This particular paper, covering the issues of justice and ownership in returning artwork from the
Holocaust, makes a clear statement when it states As noted during parliamentary debates on the UK
Holocaust (Return of Cultural Objects) Act 2009, restitution affords some justice,4 legally or
financially drawing one line under the Nazi era.5 Since fourth century BC Athens, restitution has been
key to the legitimacy of successor societies. They undertake responsibility for past wrongs,6
(re)assume a place in the international community,7 and deftly side step collective guilt (O Donnell).
The article combines a historical and legal view in explaining why certain measures must be taken to
provide a consistent justice to the victims of the Holocaust by returning the looted art. The article also
takes time to explain why the recovery of Holocaust art became such a significant issue years after
World War II, citing causes like the fiftieth anniversary of the Holocaust and improved methods of
research and recovery (O Donnell). O Donnell provides a clear view of why art should be returned to
their original owners, the main theme being that art acts as a symbol for reconciliation and justice for
victims of the massive genocide of the Holocaust. This gives the recovery of Holocaust art a
symbolism and significance that associates with the topics of

What Is The Theme Of Coole Park
Assignment 1: Close Reading Coole Park, 1929 is a poem written by W.B Yeats. This poem is part of
the works the poet wrote in the third phase of his career; a phase characterized by the retrospective of
his personal experience within the framework of Irish history. Through this poem, W.B Yeats broaches
the theme of memory, the artistic creation and pays tribute to Lady Gregory and her estate.
Memory is a central theme in Coole Park . This poem is constituted of four stanzas of eight verses
each, all structured in Iambic pentameters. Each stanza is written in Ottava Rima, a very popular
poetic form associated to Italian epic poems during the Renaissance. This rhyming stanza form refers
to the past and permits to the poet to broach ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the ninth verse, the poet gives a symbolic dimension to a blade; There Hyde before he had beaten
into prose; That noble blade the Muses buckled on (v9 10). Here, the alliteration in b reinforces the
musicality of the verse. In the verses twelve and thirteen, the poet paints a portrait of Douglas Hyde
and John Synge. The full rhyme pose (v11) and those (v13) associates the two characters. The
repetition of the words There and that in the stanza emphasizes the descriptive dimension of the verses
(v9, v10, v11, v13). The musicality of the stanza is enhanced by the internal rhyme of the verse 14;
Impetuous men, Shawe Taylor and Hugh Lane . In the third stanza, these literary figures are compared
to swallows; They came like swallows and like swallows went (v17). This imagery of the swallows
echoes with the first verse of the poem. Lady Gregory s depiction of a poet s guide is emphasized by
an enjambment between the verse eighteen and nineteen. Finally, Coole Park is described as the heart
of artistic creation through a comparison to a compass point attracting half a dozen of poets in creative
effervescence

Obesity and Fast Food Essay
In the book Fast Food Nation, Eric Schlosser writes about the fast food industry. Schlosser tells the
story of J.R. Simplot, the man behind McDonald s source for potatoes. He started his own business
right out of the eighth grade, after dropping out. He started out small but eventually became one of the
riches men in America. He owned then 160 acres of land to start off this business. He sold his potatoes
to companies at first all natural. But he soon discovered that if you dry out the food it will keep for
longer, more companies then bought from him. Then in the 1950 s he found out about freezing them,

chemicals you add to them will give them specific tastes. Adding methyl 2 peridylketone makes
something laste like popcorn. Adding ethyl 2 hydroxybutanoate makes it taste like marshmallow. The
possibilities are now almost limitless. Without affecting the appearance or nutritional value, processed
foods could even be made with aroma chemicals such as hexenal (the smell of freshly cut grass) or 3
methyl butanoic acid (the smell of body odor). (Schlosser 111 112).
Fast food today is just all chemicals, hardly any of the flavor come from the actual burger, fries, or

Natural and artificial flavors are not manufactured at the same chemical plants, places that few people

Essay On Delirium
Delirium is a condition that is often treated by identifying and correcting the underlying etiology
(Townsend Morgan, 2017). This includes the healthcare team addressing if the patient was hypoxic,
took certain medications, or had a fluid and electrolyte imbalance that lead to the delirium (Townsend
Morgan, 2017). Medical treatment modalities for delirium involve select pharmacological therapy for
specific symptoms, but are not recommended (Townsend Morgan, 2017). Common pharmacological
interventions include reducing symptoms of psychosis or substance withdrawal (Townsend Morgan,
2017). Physicians prescribe anti psychotics such as Haloperidol at a low dose to reduce the agitation
associated with delirium (Townsend Morgan, 2017). Other medical treatment modalities for delirium
include the use of anxiolytic agents such as Benzodiazepines to reduce the occurrence of delirium
associated with substance withdrawal (Townsend Morgan, 2017). Lastly, as the delirious client
becomes increasingly confused and aggressive, other mechanical or chemical restraints may be

associated with the confusion (Townsend Morgan, 2017). Another nursing intervention implicated for

and maintain clients comfort (Townsend Morgan, 2017). Lastly, promoting adequate rest is an
essential nursing intervention for a delirious patient (Townsend Morgan, 2017). Often, delirium can

  • 2. Media vs Creative Strategy in Advertising CMM3120 Current Issues in Marketing Communications 2012 Current Issue Essay on What is more important: Media strategy or creative strategy? Cecilia Setiawan 10167897 Advertising is a partnership between creative and media strategies. Each play a very important role in creating an advertisement, that it is almost impossible to draw a line between the two. Alasdair Reid (1994) asserts that as early as in the 1990s creative and media strategies were still very much inseparable due to the fact that advertising used to be a very simple business (1994, p. 15) producing an ad was more focused on creation of the content, rather than the placement. These days, however, with new media spawning, separating media and creative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each medium has its own specific attributes and so each influences people in different ways print media, for example, has a tactical sense of touch, while eletronic media is more visually exciting. Deciding which to go for beforehand to reach a particular type of audience is vital to a campaign s success it is important to note, however, that choosing the wrong medium can bring a negative impact to the product. This speaks true for promotional materials that are considered annoying , such as junk mail or pop up online ads. Most of the time, no matter how appealing the offer or advert content is, the reader will simply dismiss it, because they have developed such abhorrence of that vehicle. Bronner and Neijens have found that when consumers are highly engaged with a media vehicle, they can be more responsive to advertising (2006). Coca Cola used this to their advantage when, in 2010, they felt that their regular medium of TV was not attracting the younger generation anymore and they decided to break outside their usual platform (Shayon, 2011). The Big Idea was recycled from prior campaigns Open Happiness but this time, knowing that young adults and teens have been spending more time on the Internet than on TV, they opted to create a form of online advertisement a viral video, of a magical Coke machine placed in a student cafeteria that omitted unexpected gifts ... • 3. Homer s Odyssey Once the Odyssey had entered an orbit around Earth, Chief Steward Pars stood at the front of the cabin and announced, Ladies and gentlemen, we will begin our tour. Please follow me. They went in single file from the main cabin through a manhole and into the dining compartment, filled with orderly rows of slate gray tables and chairs fixed to the deck. On the starboard side, they could hear the clanging of pots and pans from the kitchen. The lambent light throughout the Odyssey was neither glaring nor menacing in any way, but rather they mimicked natural sunlight, which had a salutary effect on the passengers. Through the portholes, they caught brief, reassuring glimpses of their home planet, Earth. As they exited the dining compartment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, in order to put everything in perspective, we must return to the dawn of our universe. In the beginning, nearly fourteen billion years ago, the Big Bang created time and space from a single infinitesimally small point that exploded and released tremendous energy causing the universe to expand as it still is today. Specifically, the energy was in the form of electrons, protons, and neutrons. Protons and neutrons later clumped together to form the nucleus around which electrons orbited to produce the very first atoms, such as hydrogen. In other words, atoms make up the building blocks of all matter. The electrons, protons, and neutrons are the subatomic particles. Hydrogen, the lightest atom, has one proton in its nucleus around which an electron orbits. Clouds of hydrogen atoms formed the primordial nebulae. When the nebulae became thick enough, the hydrogen atoms clumped together, amassing gravity and even more hydrogen atoms to eventually form the core of the stars. After two hydrogen nuclei collided and fused at the high temperatures in the core, the element helium formed in a process called nuclear fusion. Nuclear fusion releases tremendous energy that makes stars give off light and heat. Our Sun shines chiefly due to nuclear fusion. In fact, stars first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Literary Analysis Of The Storm Kate Chopin implies in the selection, The Storm that the setting and the plot reinforces each character s action, but only two characters exemplify the title itself, Calixta and Alcee. The storm becomes the central element of Alcee s unrequited love for Calixta and ultimately the instrument of their forbidden love to each other. Hurston concurs in the The Storm that a forbidden relationship can become a cancerous love and silent death sentence. The Storm s theme was based on Love, Immoral affair, and Freedom. Chopin s technique of foreshadowing, symbolism, irony, tone, and imagery set the plot for Alcee, Calixta, Bobinot, and Clarisse in this short story. A bolt struck a tall chinaberry tree at the edge of the field. It filled all visible space with a blinding glare and crash seemed to invade the very boards they stood upon (425). The writer used Imagery to depict how nature shook the foundation of their respective marriages. The significance of the tall chinaberry tree that crashed the boards was that it made Bobinot and Clarisse almost irrelevant in the story. The author used the metaphorical expression to indicate how the storm schemed Bobinot and Clarisse out of the reckoning. The author employed the use of symbolism in the description of the storm. Storm, a natural phenomenon that brings about extreme weather condition that might lead to an undesirable outcome. The Storm in the context of the selection brought about a positive outcome. The storm in the story is not the physical storm that occurred outside with heavy downpour, but the coming together of Alcee and Bobinot. A physical storm forms when the atmosphere is saturated with water and droplets of water pour out from the sky. The symbolic importance of the storm represents the liberation of Alcee and Calixta, from the shackles of societal or moral expectation. He pushed her hair back from her face that was warm and streaming her (425). Although Alcee pushed Calixta s hair back to see her face, the author s interpretation was not physical. Chopin meant that Alcee was able to set Calixta free from the bondage of marriage temporarily. Bobinot played a major role in the plot that led to infidelity between Calixta and Alcee. ... • 5. St. John Chrysostom s Homily Sermons on Christmas morning focus on the birth of a baby wrapped in swaddling cloth laid in a manger in ancient Bethlehem, such sermons proclaim the wonders of the Nativity. However, such sermons do more than just communicate the joy of our Savior s birth, for this celebration, as exemplified in St. John Chrysostom s homily, is an ideal setting to address the question of who is Christ . There are many themes and topics in Chrysostom s Christmas morning sermon and through his speaking of Jesus Christ s birth, the Incarnation, he addresses heresies, enumerates Christian doctrine, and announces various elements of Christology. Chrysostom opens his sermons rejoicing over the salvific moment of Christmas and makes known how Christmas is a merciful gift and expression of true humility by God (110). Such an importance of the grace of this moment is also found in the writings of St. Leo the Great and St. Augustine as they both affirm this is an act of generosity not failure or necessity by God. This is important to redemption and to Christology because it shows how Christ was not obligated to save humanity but did so out of love of Creation. With this gift makes it salvation possible, for without the Word s free participation our unpayable debt could not be satisfied as St. Augustine explains. While His incarnational gift allowed Christ to the Savior and Mediator by costing the Son of God to suffer and die on the Cross, this gift did not cause Him to be departed from the ... • 6. Strengths And Strengths Of An Individual Introduction Capitalizing on one s strengths and using a strengths based approach, rather than a weakness based approach to personal development has been proven to lead to extraordinary leadership. Focusing on the strengths that one holds as an individual will help one create a better understanding of the intrinsic motivations one holds, as well as emote the confident and realistic actions that are needed by leaders. For this reason, I will be going through the process of the Reflected Best Self exercise, developed by the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. By undertaking this significant exercise, I will be able to immerse myself in my strengths and find out what I have to offer myself, those close to me, as well as future and current associates, thereby helping me understand what kind of leader I am at the moment as well as finding out how I can become the leader I want to become. This in itself will serve as my best self portrait which will identify who I am at my best as well as being a conduit to understanding how to further develop my strengths. Initial Perspective on Strengths I have always thought of myself as being a very precise person. No matter what it is that I am doing, whether it be cleaning around the house, or doing my homework, I always take the time to do it thoroughly. I am able to do this because I develop a routine for everything I do, even if it is a new experience. I associate this to my need for having everything be orderly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Elvis s accomplishments were also influenced by a man named Sam Philips, the owner of a Memphis recording studio. This led him to becoming a national phenomenon. Cloud David quoted, The Rock and Roll philosophy created Elvis Presley and it killed Elvis Presley, (Cloud, 1999). Many people think what created Elvis to become so famous also brought him towards his downfall. Gladys and Vernon did indeed take care of Elvis growing up. • 8. The Pros And Cons Of Family Farming How important is farming? Farming is only one of the most influential industries in America. With that being said, why has modern farming become one of the most unprofitable and family disorientated professions: don t people enjoy clothing, bacon, ice cream, corn? We can all come to the conclusion that we enjoy these products and appreciate the hard working people who provide them, so why is the government trying to replace family farms with large industrial farms? The ideology of bigger is better always seems to produce a positive outcome, although does it apply to the appraisal of farming, or does it neglect it. Recently in America, there has been a decrease in family farming; according to article The Disappearing Family Farm , since the 1930 s there are roughly 5 Million fewer family farms in America, and out of the 2 million remaining, only 565,000 are family operated. (USDA, 2017). The drastic decrease in family farming has begun to ignite questions and debate within the American population; why this trend is occurring. The first official reason is the new laws implemented by our government have made it insufficiently harder to build a profit causing many farms to shut down. First, we begin with regulations. The government agency, most popularly known as the EPA, or the Environmental Protection Agency , is an agency that has caused the decrease of many family farms due to the inadequate amount of regulations that a farmer must comply to. The EPA proposes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Social Hierarchy Of Julius Caesar In every sense of life, there is a hierarchy. Every single being is constantly being compared to one another until either or comes out on top. In the play, The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, there is no denying the clear social hierarchy presented in the Roman Empire. Undoubtedly, the dictator of Rome, Julius Caesar, sits at the very top of the social hierarchy at this time. Similarly to Caesar, Jean Paul Marat, a politician during the French Revolution of 1789, is also considered on the more elite half of the social hierarchy during that time. The social status of these two men didn t make them any less susceptible to very real problems, including physical disabilities, murder and incontrol of what happens after death. No matter what a ... In The Death Of Marat, a single puncture can be seen on his chest, with a scarce amount of blood running down his torso, not nearly enough to be bathed in like Caesar was (David). Both of these men died at the hands of another human by the act of getting stabbed. After the murder of Caesar and Marat, the two would come to be portrayed in a certain manner. Because of their status, these portrayals had long lasting effects when compared to the death of someone lower in the social hierarchy. In The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, Brutus allows Marc Antony to speak on Caesar s behalf in front of the citizens of Rome. Marc Antony says He was my friend, faithful and just to me [...]When that the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept (Shakespeare. III. ii. 85, 91). The word choice, such as faithful and wept , portray Caesar as kind and vulnerable. Antony also adds Here is the will, and under Caesar s seal./ To every Roman citizen he gives, /To every several man, seventy five drachmas. (Shakespeare III. ii. 240 243). After these statements made by Antony, the people of Rome see Caesar as a once worthy human being who cared about them. • 10. Essay On Child Discipline Every human being has been disciplined at some point of their life. The term discipline can be defined as to teach knowledge and skills; however, it is often equated to punish and control in parenthood. The different ways to discipline a child has been a hot subject since the early times of the biblical period. Many states in the United States had created laws to protect children from child abuse. In the last decade child abuse has been on a rapidly growing issue. The goal of parenting is to provide a child with the necessaries and emotional care to further their physical, emotional and social devolvement. This can be a challenging task to meet because every parent has their own discipline method to get their child fit for the real world, so they can be successful in life. The five discipline methods are time out, Logical Consequences, Natural Consequences, Withholding Privilege, and disciplinary spanking. Although many parents believe that disciplinary spanking is the best discipline method for a child, but many studies shown that it should not be practiced due to acting out of rage and can have future problems in a child adulthood. Finding the right discipline method can be difficult and stressful tasks. Many parents want the best for their child as a result this can create many issues to figure out which discipline method should be use. Bierstadt s painting shows the landscape of the Rocky Mountains, hence the name. Pictured are rolling valleys, rugged mountains, and what looks like a civilization of Native Americans. On the other hand, Bradley s painting is an example of how modern India is viewed through his eyes. There were waterfalls, tee pees, and sprouting trees. The Earth has been bruised and beaten. The scenery illustrated in this painting is rare. However, Bradley s painting seems to show what landscapes are like presently even if it was created in the late 1900 s. The construction, the entertainment by the dancers express that Bradley believes that India is more of a tourist spot now. It is not appreciated for its beauty anymore. • 12. Objectivity And Journalism Every journalist student will tell you that the most important aspect of being a journalist is to be impartial, objective, and to always report the facts not your opinion. Everyone knows what objectivity means, yet do they all follow the rules? Is it even possible for journalists to be objective? Most importantly, is objectivity a concept that even exists? I m going to examine the evidence. We live in a word where most journalists and news corporations are labeled as being corrupt , biased and deliberately misinforming. Corporations such as FOX news in the US is constantly criticised as being propaganda for right wing bias, and in the UK we have similar situations with the BBC, Sky News, and newspapers such as The Sun and the Daily Mail. In truth, pretty much every news outlet on the planet shows a certain degree of bias and non objectivity. Objectivity is the main ethos of journalism, being one of the first things a journalism student is taught. It gives journalists a set of rules to report news accurately and without bias in favour of a particular party. Though certain aspects of this can differ should you be a columnist or feature writer, this tends to be the general consensus. A quick skim through the dictionary tells us that objectivity is The quality or character of being objective; (in later use) esp. the ability to consider or represent facts, information, etc., without being influenced by personal feelings or opinions; impartiality; detachment. • 13. Visa Is The Most Promising Stocks Of The Credit Card... Visa has become one the most promising stocks in the credit card industry. Its stock symbol is V, and it trades in the financial sector of the The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). As an investor, Visa has remained one of my most lucrative investments. In 2008, I purchased Visa as an initial public offer at $59.00 per share. Since that time, the stock has climbed as high as $248.00 and split 4 to 1 on March 18, 2015 with a split share price of $62.00. Although the reason for splitting remains undeclared, the value of the stock has remained consistent with steady growth toward a more promising future. Visa, as an Investor Business Daily Leaderboard stock, is recognized as one of a select number of companies screened for having the most potential for big gains. • 15. Linguistic Genius Of Babies Book Review Patricia Kuhl s TED Talk lecture, The Linguistic Genius of Babies, is an overview of how infants as young as six months old are capable of discriminating between the units of all languages equally, but at ten months, infants tend to become better at distinguishing between units of their native language and worse at those of a foreign language. This shows that there is a critical period not just for language acquisition but also for the ability to acquire a second language. Therefore, parents who with for their children to have a bilingual advantage should expose infants to a second language as soon as possible. Noam Chomsky believed that humans are genetically designed with the capacity to learn language. Humans have a system of common rules and properties, called universal grammar, which allows us to learn any world language. It appears that Kuhl s research supports this theory. Kuhl exposed American infants, who had only been previously exposed to English, to Mandarin during the critical period for language acquisition. Babies exposed to both English and Mandarin showed equivalent statistics for language discrimination. This exposure alters the Language Acquisitions Device (LAD) in the brain and makes infants the citizens of the world, (Kuhl, 2010) Chomsky believed them to be, rather than the culture bound listeners, ... • 18. Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Theory Essay There are many methods for studying human social development. In Erik Erikson s psychosocial theory, social interactions are an important and determining factor of lifespan development. Although Erikson was influenced by many of Sigmund Freud s studies, his studies were based upon psychosocial development versus psychosexual development. Erikson, like Freud, emphasized the importance of childhood on personality development, but unlike Freud, he believed that development occurred across the entire lifespan. Erikson thought personality developed through a series of eight stages each signified by a crisis . According to Erikson, if the individual successfully overcomes the situation it helps to develop a lifelong skillset, but if the crisis is not successfully resolved it may hinder development. The sense of competence or the sense of inadequacy at each stage ultimately develops an individual s identity or all of the beliefs, ideals, and values that shape and guide a person s behavior (Cherry). By examining my own social development through life and gathering information from my parents, specifically about my childhood, I made many comparisons to and connections to my own identity. As Erikson s stages are confined by age, I considered the first five stages of the psychosocial theory of development and related them to my life. Trust versus mistrust is Erikson s first stage and occurs during infancy, which is from birth to about two years of age. Because of an infant s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
