Demand For A Product Or Service Essay
Demand for a product or service can be defined as the amount of a particular economic good or
service that a consumer or group of consumers will want to purchase at a given price over a specific
period of time. The demand is usually downward sloping, since consumers will want to buy more as
the price decreases. Demand for a good or service is determined by different factors other than price,
such as the price of substitute goods and complementary goods. In extreme cases, demand may be
completely unrelated to price, or nearly infinite at a given price (in the case of the tobacco industry)
(Beardshaw, 1991).
According to Philp, Dan and Galt (2009) it could be deduced that demand relative to the tobacco
industry is caused by a number of aspects in which the key driver is the price of the cigarettes.
Newport menthol 100s average price for a pack is $4.70 and a carton cost around $42.00. This price is
relative to it s competitor Marlboro menthol red cigarettes, which is the number one cigarette of all
time. Marlboro menthol red average price for a pack is $4.91 and a carton cost around $44.00. The
price of Newports is set because it s a brand loyalty product. For example, in the clothes market,
individuals would think of what Calvin Klein s would cost. If Parada sell 30% cheaper, then they
would consider paying a much lower price.
Cigarette valuing has long been a champion amongst the most fundamental advancing frameworks
utilized by the tobacco relationship as a part of the USA

Do Bystanders Need A Good Samaritan Law
When it comes to the topic of bystanders, most of us will readily agree that when we see those in peril
we should assist them. A bystander is a person who is present at an incident but does not report or
assist the person. The problem with bystanders today in our society is that they don t take action when
they witness people in peril and the outcomes are most likely to be assaults or deaths. We tend to
believe that bystanders are depraved, indifferent, and heartless but in reality they may be afraid or don
t want to be involved in the incident.
These excuses or answers are extremely alike to what the bystanders claimed that were present in the
1964 killing of Kitty Genovese in New york. Kitty was stabbed 3 times and yelled each time she ...

A Good Samaritan is a helpful person (Referenced to Luke 10:33) so , having a Good samaritan law
would fine or punish people who have failed to report or aid those in need. A Good Samaritan law
would expand the active bystander population and be able to apply to all people. However, it would be
more reasonable to have the formal punishments replaced , which are being imprisoned and excessive
fines. These punishments are a bit to extreme and unfair to all people because not everybody would be
able to physically call/help those in distress. Imagine you were blind and/or deaf walking in a
boardwalk. Suddenly you think the day is calm and breezy but a someone fell in the water and was
drowning and nobody is around to help and you yourself can t physically help. You then hear police
and ambulance sirens coming to rescue the drowning person and they arrest you. The police
completely understands the position you re in ,however the law is the law and it has to be followed.
Wouldn t you want to give a proper excuse why you couldn t help ?
A Good Samaritan law would have better alternatives for the punishments would be a warning, a
bystander prevention class and if you couldn t physically help, an excuse card just like a handicapped
tag. It would have life changing benefits to people who fail to aid those in peril because the bystander
prevention class would make you in a position where you needed help or assistance but nobody did.
Wouldn t you want other to treat others they way you d want to be treated? We have to spark up and

Examples Of Contradictions In Fuzzy Logic
Contradictions in Fuzzy Logic
Kamp ([qtd. in Sauerland]) argue that it is absurd that p ∧ p has the same truth value as p ∧ ¬p if p is
0.5, and the latter statement cannot have a truth value of 0.5, becauses how could a logical
contradiction be true to any degree? (qtd. in Sauerland 187). Sauerland ([year]) however thinks that
this is not the case: if p contains a vague variable, the statement does not need to be a contradiction to
be intuitive, e.g. What I did was smart and not smart, or Bea is both tall and not tall are statements
which are contradictions, and they still make sense although they are vague (186). I agree that What I
did was smart and not smart makes sense in vagueness and fuzzy logic: this statement might be false,
or true, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The same holds for sentences like What I did was smart and not smart (cf. Sauerland ([citation?]), but
sentences like he is tall and not tall are different: in this case you cannot say that the person is tall in
some respects and not tall in other respects (except maybe when you argue that the person turns out to
be a child who is tall compared to other children but not tall compared to adults), but more commonly
you express an average height by this, which is between your personal crisp boundaries of tall and not
tall respectively. Still, both sentences He is nice and not nice and He is tall and not tall are of the form
p ∧ ¬p, and are not considered contradictions with a truth value of 0. But if you consider He is nice
and not nice as the person being nice and not nice in the same respect, then of course the contradiction
would be obviously present, in which case the truth value would indeed be 0 (I do not think that you
could interpret He is tall and not tall in a way such that its truth degree would be 0): it would then be
reasonable to interpret He is nice (in some respects) and not nice (in other respects) as rather p ∧ ¬q
than p ∧ ¬p, because the different contexts in which he is nice and not nice might be seen as concepts
which are not actually related, that is, the situations in

Lebron James s Life And Accomplishments
Did you know that LeBron James s 1st sports team were the South Rangers, a football team? LeBron
James, the famous basketball player, born in Akron, Ohio, started off as the stereotypical boy that you
would find in a rough neighbourhood. Through determination, skill, practice, etc. LeBron was able to
climb out of the stereotypical hole he was born into, and the beginning of that fight sparked the start of
a life full of achievements, money, excitement, and has also allowed LeBron to give the kind of
comfort and security to his family that he never had as a child. Fatherless boy to Basketball legend,
LeBron James has not led a boring life.

Islamic Legal Reformers Of The Twentieth Century
I. Introduction As Talal Asad has noted, religion is by no means disappearing in the modern world,
and, [i]f anything is agreed upon, it is that a straightforward narrative of progress from the religious to
the secular is no longer acceptable. (Asad: 2003: 1.) At the same time, and in relation particularly to
the contemporary rise of Islam, [t]he question of secularism has emerged as an object of academic
argument and of practical dispute. (Ibid.) The common view is that Islam and secular modernism
constitute a duality, forever at odds, while others argue that the religious and the secular are a false
duality and are indeed mutually constitutive of each other. (Agrama: 2). Viewed either way, the
resurgence of Islam gives rise to important questions regarding its relationship to the secular modern
state. In this short paper, I propose to engage with the works of two Islamic legal reformers of the
twentieth century: Mohammed Abduh s classic Theology of Unity , first published in 1897, and
Ahmad Safwat s lesser known article, The Theory of Mohammedan Law, published in a British law
journal in 1920. Though quite different, both works are emblematic of this period in Islamic history
when traditional Islamic law struggled to identify its proper role with respect to the increasing power
and transcendence of the modern secular state. Moreover, each work is representative of two views of
Islam and secular modernism and represent the genesis of both

Restorative Justice Essay
This essay aims to make clear the system of restorative justice and its aims towards youth offending,
whilst arguing points for and against the current system and whether or not it is more appropriate in
terms of dealing with youth offending. It will also define restorative justice as well as defining what is
meant by conventional justice. Making clear how and why these two systems came to be a part of
youth justice whilst concluding as to which if either is more appropriate in dealing with youth
offending behaviour. Restorative justice is a process whereby parties with a stake in a specific offence
collectively resolve how to deal with the aftermath of the offence and its implications for the future
(Munchie, 2004).

There are already existing restorative practices that are place within the conventional criminal justice
system at present namely probation, restitution and community service (Zehr, 1990). Admittedly they
are not readily termed restorative justice programs however they are grounded in its theory.
The current conventional criminal justice process takes a more punitive, retributive view of criminal
justice. The retributive approach has become grounded into our current system of justice whereby it
intends to establish blame on offenders and make them repay their debt to society by inflicting a form
of punishment (Ball, 2000). The general stance in relation to the retributive system is that its more
offender oriented and its focus is the past rather than the future (Griffiths, 1999). In addition to
establishing blame, it tends to give less attention to future oriented concerns such as how to repair the
damages caused by the crime and how future recurrences can be prevented (Young, M, 1999). It has
been argued that the existing retributive system places excessive emphasis on the past whilst being
less constructive towards victims, offenders and the society, as a result youths tend to get labelled as
criminal from an early age leading in some cases to a life delinquent offending behaviour
(Braithwaite, 1989). At present a crime is viewed as a social conflict within society, and so a crime is
perceived an offense against society rather

Plunging The Joy Luck Club by Amt Tan Essay
The Joy Luck Club (1985) was written by Amy Tan (1952). The Joy Luck Club is the story of a
Chinese mother who leaves everything behind, a mother who leaves her family in China in order to
get her children (in this case our protagonist June) a better life. Or as Amy Tan says: The Joy Luck
Club, about a woman whose mother has just died and who regrets that she never knew who she truly
was. The stories poured out. They were what I felt and had to say before it was too late. I had found
my reason to write. (http://www.theguardian.com/books/2013/nov/19/amy tan joy luck club guardian

The story of the swan (we can read it on Feathers from a Thousand LI Away) is very meaningful. The
American Dream changes between the generations. For the mothers, it is creating a future full of
privilege and success. For the daughters, it is the freedom to take their opportunities and do with them
as little or as much as they want. The daughters American ness is reflected most strongly in their
relationships with men. Ted, Harold, and especially Rich, represent the American part of their wives,
which for the mothers seems frighteningly disconnected from Chinese thinking. Suyuan wants Jing
Mei to be the perfect American girl like Shirley Temple, but resents how little Jing Mei understands
about Chinese culture. As Lindo Jong explains, these are the perils of being two faced. Fitting in one
place means not fitting in somewhere else, and the challenge for Chinese American women is to find a
balance that honours both cultures. Another very important subject is that which talks about love and
marriages. On the one side we have the mothers who thought that love and marriage are not always
holding hands. That is, a wife sometimes has to do things although she doesn t want to. We come back
to role of the submissive woman. On the other hand we have the daughters, who believe that they have
the right to find true love and to get married and if they marry, they have the right to be themselves
and not what their husbands or the

Earl Warren s Due Process Model
Since the year 1953 until the year 1969, Earl Warren served as the fourteenth chief justice of the
United States Supreme Court. Warren s span served was noticeable because of frequent judgements
that have changed United States decree and culture. While disapproved, Earl Warren is thought of as
an utmost chief. Under his supervision, the courts similarly wanted equivalence in unlawful fairness,
ushering in an era of increased sensitivity to the rights of the accused.
Chief Justice Earl Warren used the Due Process Model in order to make his decisions on these very
important cases. These decisions have affected and still continue to affect police procedures. Failure to
follow such procedure may result in the suppression of evidence or the release of an arrested suspect.
Prohibition of unreasonable search and seizure is also a law that the law must stand by.

Why Statistics Are Part Of Everyday Life
Statistics are part of everyday life. Whether we know it or not we use them in some way, shape or
form during the course of our day. Business and medical professionals, sociologists and scientists
alike all utilize statistics in order to determine probabilities of outcomes. The purpose of this paper is
to discuss what I have learned about statistics in during this class covered during the last five weeks.
The topics I will cover inform the class are descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, hypothesis
development and testing, selection of appropriate statistical tests and evaluating statistical results. The
intent is to discuss the application of the elements in analyzing and making decisions about data. Our
book states that there are many kinds of descriptive statistics. Calculating measures of central
tendency and measures of variability are two we focused on. As their names suggest, measures of
central tendency indicate what is most typical in a data set. Measures of variability gauge how much
difference there is in a set of measures (Tanner Youseef Morgan, 2013). Descriptive statistics aid in
sorting through large amounts of data and making them understandable. In order to measure central
tendency we utilize the mean, median, and mode. These are used to find the most frequent value
(mode), the middle most value (median), and the average (mean). These would be useful if you
wanted to use age as a data point in a marketing campaign to target the age

New England Vs Chesapeake Colonies
While the people of the New England area and of the Chesapeake area came from English origin, by
1700 both areas had moved in two different directions. Both of these groups were blessed with issues
that were unique to their regions, and each was forced to reconstruct their societies. As a result, the
differences in the motivation, geography, and government in the New England and Chesapeake
regions caused great difference in the development of each.
As the regions began to develop, the motivation for settlement helped to shape the societies. New
England had become a place where men looked for refuge from religious ill treatment and was
established as a haven for religious refugees. Despite this reason for settling, the New Englanders still
attempted to spread their own beliefs of religion. As shown by John Winthrop in his Model of a
Christian Charity, he preached to his people that we shall be a city upon a hill , setting a spark to the
Puritans desire for a Holy Utopia. John other New Englanders practiced the belief that they must all
work together. They were determined to mourn together, labor and suffer together, always having
before our eyes our commission and community in the work. The Articles of Agreement laid out the
basis for the New England region. These articles made New England a mix of rich and poor families,
all being in possession of land and resolute in doing God s work. However, while the New Englanders
settled to create a Holy Utopia, the people of

What Is The Role Of States In The United States
The role of States Every state is a unique entity within the US; population demographic case mix,
socioeconomic status, geography and laws and guidelines differ across states. Some states perform
better than others in general and the opioid epidemic follows the same rule. But why? Researchers
focused on uncovering these opioid related inconsistencies; their findings indicate that multiple
factors, other than physicians as described so far, are explanatory for this variation. They found
statistically significant results explaining opioid prescriptions and deaths related to race, where non
Hispanic whites accounted for more opioids and overdose deaths; specific disease prevalence,

Only 29 states require physicians by law to consult a PDPM database before prescribing an opioid,
whereas some others do not.34, 35 Some states, like Kentucky and Florida, have posed s stricter than

Columbia passed legislation to improve naloxone access.37 Out of those, 40 states and the District of
Columbia passed the Good Samaritan Law that protects individuals from being arrested, charged
and/or prosecuted when they report overdosing.37 The first noticeable difference here is that 10 states
did not pass this law. The second is that when overviewing the general characteristics of this law, the
Good Samaritan Law differs across these 40 states as well. For example, Michigan provides immunity
from charges, arrest and prosecution if a person is seeking medical assistance;38 Alabama on the other
hand provides immunity only for prosecution.39 Finally, some researchers studied concluded that state
requirements for Continuous Medical Education training and specifically Controlled Substance
Continuous Medical Education training for physicians could improve knowledge and practice and

Charles Dickens Hard Times and David Lodge s Nice Work...
Charles Dickens Hard Times and David Lodge s Nice Work Fact, fact, fact, everywhere in the material
aspect of the town; fact, fact, fact everywhere in the immaterial. Charles Dickens In the early 1851,
London staged the Great Exhibition to show the world, the achievements and inventions of the
Industrial Revolution. Many people believed that this showed how much better, safer and healthier
Britain was than its neighbours in Europe. People living in mansions amid lawns and fountains, with
horse drawn carriages certainly felt that life couldn t be better. However behind the publicity and the
royal occasions there was another England, not so glorious. Benjamin Disraeli wrote that Britain was

In many ways Dickens was viewed to denounce the Capitalist ethic. However never to found to be
Communist/ Marxist it can be stated he was merely anti materialistic. He felt the social injustice,
which was created due to the heavy industry. Most of the mechanized account and in particular p.20
creates such an impression on the reader to think this. Dickens believed that this was a brutal world
where everything is measured by figures in a Gradgrind gospel of Fact . He has written a satire against
the foundation and the constitutions of Industrial Society. A uniformly monotonous description is
used, much like the movement of machine where products are continuously churned out . The
language used in this chapter holds no complexity. It translates simply to the author s purpose;
generating a cold mocking account a satirical bite . This is the main thematic contrast of the two texts.
We find Lodge is very unclear in who is denounced, what the author feels about society. It is very
difficult to gauge what the author thinks about the deindustrialisation of Britain in the 1980 s.
Therefore we find the passage to be very much gentler in comparison, Lodge is not hostile to the West
Midlands. Lodge mainly writes with a dry informative tone throughout most of the narrative. At times
his writing can be said to quite tedious. There obviously must be much more to this mundane tone
than the writer s real style. It is

Pope Gregory The Great Essay
Is certainly one of the most notable figures in Ecclesiastical History. He has exercised in many
respects a momentous influence on the doctrine, the organization, and the discipline of the Catholic
Church. To him we must look for an explanation of the religious situation of the Middle Ages; indeed,
if no account were taken of his work, the evolution of the form of medieval Christianity would be
almost inexplicable. And further, in so far as the modern Catholic system is a legitimate development
of medieval Catholicism, of this too Gregory may not unreasonably be termed the Father. Almost all
the leading principles of the later Catholicism are found, at any rate in germ, in Gregory the Great. .
(F.H. Dudden, Gregory the Great , 1, p. v).
The preceding paper will examine the life and effect Pope Gregory (the Great) I had on medieval
Christianity up to the present day. Through this exercise we flush out the efforts and work that

Pros And Cons Of A Written Constitution
What is Constitution? A constitution can be defined as being a body of rules which regulates the
system of government within a state. It establishes the bodies and institutions which form part of that
system.it provides the powers which they are to exercise, it determines how they are to interact and
coexist with one another and, perhaps most importantly of all. It is concerned with the relationship
between government and the individual. (Parpworth).
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN WRITTEN AND UNWRITTEN
A written constitution is one contained within a single document or a series of documents, with or
without amendments, defining the basic rules of the state. More recent written constitutions derive
from the grant or devolution of legislative power from previously imperial powers to former colonies
and dominions, whether secured as a result of peaceful settlement or violent revolution. . A written
constitution is generally rigid and a procedure separate from that of enacting ordinary law is provided
for its amendment or revision. In other words a distinction between constitutional law and ordinary
law is maintained.

It does not take much to look around and see how much medicine has developed over the years.
Scenarios involving certain illnesses that at sometime in the past seemed to be hopeless have been
studied and treatments carefully developed. Many medical discoveries have been made, and many are
the lives that have been spared because of such. On the other hand, however, it is undeniable that there
are many forms of physical disorder that still cannot be fully explained by medicine. Extremely
knowledgeable researchers and devoted doctors have been grappling with problems such as cancer
and AIDS for decades, yet nothing has been discovered or developed further enough to completely
cure these and also many other forms of deadly illnesses.
It is not possible to imagine the everyday life of a person plagued with terminal illness. Not only is
their burden incomparably heavy, but also that of their family and friends who are forced to watch a
loved one suffer over long periods of time. The Journal of Medical Ethics, one of the world s most

A Lesson in Oppression From the beginning of time and around the world, women have been
subjected to patriarchal oppression in various forms. From economic hardships such as wage gaps or
an inability to own property, to social mores such as submission in marriage and sexual
objectification, women are systematically treated as second class citizens without a voice. African
American women have faced these gendered challenges in addition to racial discrimination in the
forms of slavery, unfair taxation, red lining, unequal access to education and derogatory media
representation to name a few. Passing by Nella Larsen portrays two African American women as main
characters who experience racial and gender oppression in various ways. Webster s Dictionary defines
oppression as: the state of being subject to unjust treatment or control, prolonged cruel or unjust
treatment or control; mental pressure or distress. Larsen s story delves into social and feminist issues
of oppression such as loss of identity, oppressiveness of marriage, women s independence relating to
women s lack of independence, the importance of marriage in society, how race and class function in
society, and how relationships are dictated by race, class, and gender.
Many of the issues explored in the story were likely experiences by the author herself. Similar to the
main character Irene, Nella Larsen was an African American of mixed descent from Chicago, who
lived in New York, and was married to a

Essay about The Role of Loneliness in James Joyce s Ulysses
The Role of Loneliness in James Joyce s Ulysses
Have you ever had one of those days when the world seems cold and unfeeling? Where the people that
surround you are far away and uncaring? Ulysses is about one of those days, and two people who are
stuck within it, searching desperately for a way out. Loneliness runs like a thread through Ulysses, a
novel by James Joyce. It constantly tugs at the character s minds, and drives their lives in subtle ways.
Joyce drives the point home by giving a drab, grey description of the character s lives.
Ulysses is set in 1904, Dublin, Ireland. Joyce s book was first published in 1922. The plot of Ulysses
is fairly simple. The novel re creates the days of two Irishmen, Leopold Bloom, the main ... Show

although he leads a comfortable life, is quite miserable. The blow that hit him the hardest was the
death of his one year old son. Now, his daughter is away, and he spends much of his time serving his
wife, who does not respect him, and is even having an affair with her employer. When Bloom receives
a letter from his precious daughter, his mood only worsens, and his mind drifts into the thought of

thoughts lead to a remembrance of his father s suicide. Bloom also feels singled out, not only in his
family life, but in general, as a Jew. Although people like and respect Leopold Bloom, there are people

Why Colleges Show Their Students With A s Brent Staples...
In the essay Why Colleges Shower Their Students with A s Brent Staples argued that all the scholars
are getting high emblems they don t deserve ( Why Colleges Shower Their Students ). According to
him, there are several reasons behind this increasing A s. Staples focuses on the fact that getting an A
for any class was so complicated that only cum laude students were worth getting those grades, which
gave them a very high and esteemed value. But in this modern era, good grades have lost the real
value. The quantity of students getting an A grade is increasing day by day. With the advent of
establishment of new colleges every year, the competition has raised among them. Competing with
others is the nature of every creature, whether it is for food, shelter or anything else. In case of human
beings the level of competition is beyond simple things. They compete for everything in their life.
Even a small virtual game played on mobile phone is taken as a great deal of competition. And when
the competition comes to be about the money and the reputation, people can go to any level to win it.

their loans. Thus, grade appeal processes have become very lenient over the past several years, which

Why Is Spanking Wrong
To spank or not to spank has been a question for parents for many years. Some believe that spanking
is the only way that children will learn to be obedient. They believe in the motto spare the rod, spoil
the child , meaning if parents do not physically discipline, the child is spoiled and lacks manners.
Others, however, believe that exerting physical harm on a child for discipline does not make sense.
They believe that there is always a better way to teach children right from wrong. Spanking is not an
effective form of discipline and can lead to improper behavior.
When a child is acting up, a parent can either teach the child what they did wrong and make it a
learning experience, or react harshly to the behavior of the child and as a result, ... Show more content

There has to be an alternative option so the child will learn, not fear.
Editors remarked that in, Spanking Your Children: Good or Bad , the CED studied how spanking may
be effective short term, but there may be consequences later in life. The more children are spanked,
the less they are likely to be mannerly, and well behaved in the future. They continued on by stating,
Spanking does not teach children why their behavior was wrong or what they should do instead; it
teaches children that the only reason to behave appropriately is to avoid being punished. (2017). This
research has proven that there is not only a physical negative reaction, but a mental one too. CNN
mentions that for decades experts have stated that spanking is not effective because it teaches a child
to be scared of his parents and to not respect them (O Callaghan, 2011). In fact it is dangerous because
hitting can injure a child and teach him or her it is okay to hit someone if they disappoint them.
Imagine a grown adult spanking another adult. This would be considered an assault, and is not
acceptable in our society. Therefore, it is not okay for an adult to hit a child in our day and

Analysis Of The Book Count Ugolino
Count Ugolino
In the first round of the ninth circle of the Inferno, Virgil and Dante see two spirits pent in the ice; one
spirit chews on the head of the other sinner. Dante questions the chewing sinner, and with this the soul
lifts his from the other soul s devoured head, and begins to tell his story (Inf). He introduces himself as
Count Ugolino, a nobleman of Pisa, and tells Dante that the other sinner, whom he was gnawing on, is
Archbishop Ruggieri. Through a deceitful deception, the Archbishop put Ugolino and his suns in a
tower, where they received only a small amount of light each day from a small lancid window in the
wall. One day, when Ugolino and his sons were usually brought their food, they heard the door of the
tower being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ugolino uses his story s version as an act of revenge upon the bishop, whom he burns in Hell eternally
with revulsion (Franke 31). Dante the Poet shares this story to allow the reader to feel immense
sympathy and to stimulate the reader s hatred of Ugolino s tyrant; the suffering father in the story
forgets his fate within his agony that he can do nothing for his children or himself. In addition, this
suffering was an injustice, which gives the poet the right to be against Pisa (Yate 93). Ugolino s story
has been constantly paired with Paolo and Francesca s story; both stories arouse deep emotion in
anguish, but contrast in Dante the Pilgrim s reactions and responses to both sinners. Through these
stories, Dante indicates human love and human sorrow break through in the Inferno (Yate 95).
Ugolino is the father of sorrows that are easy to weep for. As a man of rank as a Count, he is
oppressed by a priest, and with this Ugolino becomes an emotional and liberty loving English lord
(Yate 99). However, Ugolino is filled with rage, which persuades him to gnaw at his oppressor s skull.
Dante seems to use this episode as a narrative of revenge, exposing Dante the Poet s weakness in his
god like personality. He thereby produces a narrative of the damning of sin in expressing his own
anger (Franke 27). Between the two haters, they share absolutely no pity, as there was towards
Francesca and her lover. Ugolino and Ruggieri rage with

their parents are there to teach them how to succeed in life and how to grow into nice young men/

A Good Plan Violently Executed Now Is Better Than A...
A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan executed next week. What is it about

Throughout military history, untold number of plans have been developed and executed with both
success and failure. It is not the plan that moves entire Army s across a land mass or storms a country

head that defines the battle at hand.

The Transportation Security Administration is Ineffective...
Shortly after 9/11 twelve years ago, the federal government created the Transportation Security
Administration (TSA) to protect air travel and prevent similar attacks. In 2012, the TSA had a budget
of $8.1 billion, and while it claims to improve airport security, it fails to do so. Additionally, their
checkpoints are privacy invasive and cumbersome, negatively impacting the air travel industry. For
these reasons, the agency should be abolished. As a response to the 9/11 attacks, one would expect that
the TSA would improve airport security. In reality, it s just security theater. Originally, the use of metal
detectors and luggage x rays in airport security checkpoints was enough. However, on December 25,

Many horror stories of overly invasive pat downs make the news. In one instance, a 95 year old cancer
patient was forced to remove her adult diaper, traumatizing her. In response to the news coverage, the
TSA maintains that they acted respectfully and professionally[4]. In another instance, a baby was
given a thorough pat down[5]. Senator Claire McCaskill of Missouri said after a certain pat down:
When you have the traveling public tell you that sometimes these pat downs are unacceptable, trust

wary of the TSA s privacy policies and intentions. Finally, the TSA s cumbersome and invasive
screening process hurts the air travel industry. A 2010 poll showed that 35% of travelers said they plan
to fly less, many citing the TSA as the reason[7]. Another survey in 2008 found that air travellers
avoided 41 million trips due to perceived problems with the air travel system. This avoidance is
estimated to have cost airlines $9.4[8]. The tourism industry is one of America s biggest industries. In

Main Idea Of The Tempest
The Tempest by Shakespeare is called after what happened in the beginning. The island is the setting
of the story. It seems to be an island with no people at it at first. The island has rivers and green trees.
It seems to be a good place for people to love. Although it looks like a deserted island people can go
and live their if they want to. If course if they want to survive they need to know how to built. The
tempest is the cause of the story without it the story would not even exist or it would but in a different

I think that the opportunity for Ha and her family to stay in Saigon is going to come more and more

Pathophysiology: In a normal, healthy lung, air travels through a highway of airways, called
bronchioles, to eventually reach tiny air sacs, called alveoli, the site of gas exchange with the blood
capillaries.1 The right and left lungs are separated by fissures into lobes and are further divided into
segments and then into lobules, which contain the alveoli.1 In pneumonia, a common inflammatory
and infectious disease of the lung, fluid accumulates within the alveoli and/or the lobe, which reduces
the surface area exposed to air making it difficult to breath.3 Typically, the body is able to filter out
germs that invade the respiratory system by using defense mechanisms such as the immune system,
the structure of the nose and throat, coughing, and cilia; however, some germs are able to reach the
lungs to cause infection, especially in those who are immunocompromised.3 For example, someone
who is in a medically induced coma due to a stroke, is unable to cough, and as a result, the germs
remain in the airway. Once the germs enter the lungs, the immune system responds by attacking.3 This
causes the alveoli to inflame, turn red, and fill up with fluid and pus, which are the symptoms of
pneumonia.3 There are three common bacteria that cause pneumonia Streptococcus pneumonia,
Legionella pneumophilia, and Mycoplasma pneumonia.3 Streptococcus pneumoniae or pneumococcus

Alfred, Lord Tennyson, A British Poet
Alfred, Lord Tennyson, a British poet was and is one of the most popular and famous poets from
Victorian era Britain. In fact he survived for basically the entirety of the era, as he was born in 1809
and died in 1892, as stated in John Maynard s Alfred , Lord Tennyson (page 4). Born into a large
family in somewhat less than adequate conditions, he found solace mostly in writing, even from a
young age. According to online literature.com he lived with what the world now knows as depression
and was, apparently, very easily distracted, known as a notoriously absent minded person. These traits
might have been made a bit more severe thanks to his living conditions, being the fourth of twelve
kids to his parents, who each had their own issues, most definitely including his father. According to
poetsgraves.co.uk Alfred s father, George Tennyson, suffered from a number of illnesses, including
epilepsy, alcoholism, and general mental instability. While this certainly made life difficult for his
twelve children, George tried his best to provide a good education to them, seeing the potential in
Alfred from a young age as he had shown signs of his talent from when he was very young. George
was a pastor who, likely because of his profession, had an interest in classical and modern literature,
and decided to pass this information and passion on down to his children as best as he could. His life
eventually started catching up with him, however, when in the 1820s he began to suffer many

A necessary prerequisite for a full understanding of any species behavior includes possessing

responsive to simple and sweet flavored carbohydrates (Dethier 1955, as quoted in Jakinovich et. al.
1971). However, taxa members responses to amino acids have been shown to be more subtle, if
present at all, with Potter and Bertin (1988), for example, determining no significant response to a
variety of amino acid solutions in S. bullata.
Traditionally, experimental analysis of Homo sapiens taste thresholds has similarly focused on these
two classes of biomolecules, with similar sweetness thresholds as those exhibited by members of the
taxa Insecta being established in H. sapiens with respect to simple carbohydrates. For example, while
Scheiner et. al. in (2003) (as quoted in Scheiner et al. 2004), demonstrated that a sucrose concentration

of the honey bee, Apis mellifera, Richard Bowen (2016) has indicated the H. sapiens population
response threshold resides around sucrose concentrations of 3.4%.
Recently however, the movement away from the high calorie content of simple carbohydrate

The Donaldson Family Food organization has a strong foundation and values their employees. The
organization has many positive aspects that outweigh the negative. One negative aspect is their
mission statement contradicts the way the organization runs. Decentralized decision making is the
philosophy of company s mission. The company is privately held and a low growth business, The
Senior Management Action Review Team SMART makes the decisions for the company and there is
no urgency. I would recommend empowering SMART and their team building approach. There is no
pressure or time constraints on projects, which eventually are completed. The organization has taken
steps and hired staff to follow a decentralized decision making mission. Donaldson Family Food need
to follow their mission statement to achieve a goal to move the company into a high growth market.
For the organization to be competitive, they need to make their decisions in real time and get new

Optimization Of Water And Nano Fluid
Constructal optimization of water and nano fluid flow for micro channel heat sinks with rectangular
cross section
Abstract
In this paper, three dimensional water and Al2O3 water nano fluid flow and heat transfer is optimized
geometrically using constructal theory. A numerical code based on the finite volume method and
SIMPLER algorithm is developed to solve the governing equations. The code is carefully validated by
comparing numerical predictions with experimental data. In this study we consider aspect ratio,
number of channels in the heat sink and solid fraction factor as degrees of freedom. Given a specific
volume and axial length of the micro channel heat sinks and a fixed pressure drop, we want to find out
the best possible number of channels in the system, and geometry of each channel that maximizes the
global thermal conductance. Furthermore we investigate the effect of different pressure drops. The
results show that the geometric parameters have a strong effect on the performance of micro channel
heat sink. Comparison of the results of water and Al2O3 water nano fluid indicate that neither Re nor
pressure drop along the channel are good parameters to compare the thermal performance of nano
fluid and water.
Key words: micro channel heat sink, nano fluid, Constructal theory, finite volume method, Pressure

Middle Class Family Research Paper
The Cadburys were an ideal example of how a middle class family could succeed during the industrial
revolution. In Western England, the Cadbury family owned a small cloth and dry goods store, which
flourished because of the industrial revolution. The Cadbury retail store ran by Richard and Elizabeth
Cadbury, benefited greatly from the new sources of supply and expanding demand for cloth. This
demand was derived from the industrial revolution making materials readily available to the public.
The industrial revolution also brought more people into cities, resulting in more people able to buy
these cheaper newer items. After years of expansion and growth, Richard and Elizabeth made enough
money to move out to the suburbs and help their son John ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Cadburys were not different; they too followed the characteristics of a middle class family early
on. In the Cadbury family and many other middle class families it was normal for the man to be the
respected economic provider. But, the wife of Richard Cadbury, Elizabeth, also helped out the family
business by running it while Richard was gone. On top of her duties to help out at the store, Elizabeth
also had to fulfill her responsibility of running the household. They had eight children, which was
actually considered a high amount for middle class families during the industrial revolution. The
Cadbury sons would be sent off to be apprentices in different cities while the daughters would stay
and learn how to work at the shop, the house, and the garden. During this time it was also common for
shopkeepers and their families to live above their own store, which is what the Cadburys did until they
earned enough money to move to the suburbs. All of these actions were very common amongst the
Cadburys and middle class during this time. Certain values were upheld from family to family because
they fit the status quo of the

Are Humans Striving To Survive Research Paper
Do humans still strive to survive no matter what the circumstances? Humans have been striving to
survive, pushing themselves to keep going and not give up for many years no matter what the
circumstances. They have faced many obstacles and managed to overcome them. Looking back at
ancient life, humans had to start from the beginning to sustain life. For example, the ancient Egyptians
survived by the technology they developed. In today s society, we start where our previous generation
ended; causing an exponential growth in terms of technology. Technology is the key to surviving in
this world. Humans learned how to survive in the ancient times by developing innovative technology,
however, it came at a cost. Advancing technology forces humans to advance along with it. Agriculture
appeared a long time ago and is still going on to this day, it makes us continue to move forward no
matter what happens. Also, transportation is a reason why we still expand ... Show more content on

Agriculture is one of the major things that helped humans survive with food growing continuously.
Transportation made it easier for us to move and spread ideas all over the world. Communication is
one of the great things that we still have to this day, it helped us connect with each other and strive to
keep going. All these are a form of technology, which basically makes up for our lives and helps us in
everything we put our mind to. With all this information, you can still tell humans are striving to
survive no matter what happens. New inventions will be made and milestones will be created because
of technology. Technology has been very helpful in the making of agriculture, communication, and
transportation and will never stop doing so. This is very important to us because we always hear
people argue about the survival of humanity and why they don t strive to survive, but at the end
humans will always strive to survive thanks to the advancement of

The Art Of The Mona Lisa
The Mona Lisa is a painting done by Leonardo Da Vinci within the years of 1503 and 1519, done in
Florence Italy. The subject in the painting was Francesco del Gioconda s wife, and it took four years
for Leonardo to paint. The Mona Lisa painting depicts a woman seated in front of a vast mountainous
landscape with a mysterious smile and aura. The eyes have a luster and watery sheen, as well as the
skin, has shades and tints. The nose and eyebrows are shaped with such precision that only a master
painter can capture. Many spectators that look at the Mona Lisa claim that they see a beating pulse in
her throat. The Mona Lisa exhibits to the public Leonardo Da Vinci s idea of the cosmic link
connecting humanity and nature.

I believe
Leonardo Da Vinci created this piece to show the Renaissance period at its peak.
When the public eye saw this piece they said it was an epic demonstration of the naturalism at that
time. The Mona Lisa was a glorious representation of the talent that humans possessed.
It made the people think and it benefitted people s minds because the painting left people asking
questions. This painting was created during a very excellent time for art, and since the
Mona Lisa was debatably the best painting of that time, that made the painting very famous. The
Mona Lisa was one of the most

glorious works of the naturalism period and the Renaissance.
The Mona Lisa looks so natural and so familiar, that we forget how innovative the painting was at the
beginning of the sixteenth century.
Louvre Curator Jean Pierre Cuzin
The public eye also liked it because it was very realistic and divine and almost inhuman . Since this
piece was painted during the Humanism phase of the Renaissance it was created to go along with that
period. Mentioned earlier in the text was

My First Day Of A New School
I woke up to my alarm clock and mom banging on my door. The time is 7:50 and I am late for my first
day to my new school. Unsure of what to do when I pull up to the school I ask my mom to move back
to my old home. I walk into my new class with all eyes on me for being the new kid hoping the
teacher seats me in the back of the classroom for a quick getaway when the bell rings. Unfortunately I
was seated dead center, with an icebreaker activity. I met a new friend, his name was Augustine. Tall
and skinny with no real confidence to him, I decided to talk to him to see how everything runs. Not to
long before summer starts and I was hoping the days went by fast. After school was finally over it was
time to go home. The first day of a new school was not as bad. I received a text message from my
scout master saying the meeting starts at 7. Excited for the meeting to start I tried doing keeping
myself busy. It came time for the meeting and got my shirt freshly ironed with my slacks. We were
shown to dress up proper young men by our scout master. I walked into the door and saw everyone
already sitting at the round table talking about our next camping and fishing trip. The scoutmaster
would have us do charity work around the camp grounds picking up trash. Then the topic of our
summer camp came up and we were all excited. The activities planned we all fun and exciting.
Paintball and ziplining were my two favorite choice. My cousins were already jumping off the table.
We planned to

The Islamic Republic Of Afghanistan And The United States...
Beside the pride of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the United States of America Mr. Zalmay
Khalillzad, I happen to be one of the most miserable sons of a bitch you can find on the face of the
Earth. Of course not only according to His Honorable Pope Francis, but also millions of Americans,
Afghans, Mexicans and over a billion and a half of human beings living around the world seeking
Him as Muslims, including President of the United States of America, His Majesty, President
Rouhani, President Abdullah Abdullah of Afghanistan, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of Pakistan and
His Holiness the Dalai Lama. But for some unknown reason, I feel Prime Minister Modi, Camaron,
Netanyahu and Trudeau are on the same page. Chancellor Merkel could not be more delightful, by
knowing refugees from Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, Kuwait, Iraq, Libya, Yemen Syria and others will
stop arriving in Germany during my presidency. I told you I will make America great again, didn t I?
Although my ancestors arrived here on boats from Poland, but I was fortunate enough to be fed with a
silver spoon and even inherited millions. Senator Rubio could inform you with the accurate numbers
as you wish. With three wives and four or more bankruptcies, I still managed to build my empire as
you can see. I owned pretty much anything as I wished, except for love, respect, behavior, look and
being the President of any country. I chose your beloved nation of America. Pieces of paper with

Qualitative Research For Dunkin Donuts
In this part of the research, I will discuss the role of qualitative research in helping Dunkin Donuts
expand further in the World.
Qualitative research refers to the process whereby researchers try to find out simply what exists ,
rather than how much . Qualitative research aims to develop initial ideas or insights to provide
direction for any further research needed. It deals with the range of customer attitudes towards a
product, rather than measuring what percentage of people hold a particular attitude (Lindridge et
al.2010).
Qualitative research uses the form of an interview with open ended questions for researching and
understanding attitudes, opinions, feelings and behaviors of an individual or groups. Qualitative
research is concerned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

making the decision of choosing Dunkin Donuts brand or other brands. Dunkin Donuts can also gain
an overview of consumer behavior and the underlying causes that govern such behavior.. Qualitative

any possible objections to making Dunkin Donuts the default breakfast choice for many as well as
create lures or encouragements to bring specifically targeted behaviorally aware consumers into its
stores when otherwise they might pass them

Vatican II Council s Interpreting Scripture Analysis
There is no doubt of the impact that Pope John XXIII s Vatican II Council had on many aspects of the
life of the church. In particular, the orientations and convictions of the council on understanding the
Christian life appears to have acutely responded to the needs of the people, as it fueled, if not ignited,
an interest in spirituality that extended well beyond the Catholic Church, and well beyond the 1960 s.
With a universal call to one holiness rooted in the call of Christian baptism, spirituality was no longer
just for the ordained and the vowed religious. Further, the Council s emphasis on the role of the Word
of God satisfied a deep hunger of the people to allow God s Word to penetrate their prayer, their
morality, and their discipleship. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One cannot be done without the other. God calls us all to worship Him and remain connected to all
humanity. Therefore, Christian spirituality must be rooted in the liturgical life of the church, that is, to
be a part of the mystical Body of Christ. The Council understood the liturgy, specifically the
Eucharist, as the source and summit of Christian life. It is the source of nourishment for our ethics, our
morality, our sense of responsibility for, and accountability to, one another. It is here in the church, in
the midst of diversity and inclusivity that we find our common ground living in the Spirit of Christ. It
is in the liturgy that we are enlightened and empowered by the Holy Spirit, and gain the perspective of
how the world should be rooted in communion and

  • 2. Demand For A Product Or Service Essay Demand for a product or service can be defined as the amount of a particular economic good or service that a consumer or group of consumers will want to purchase at a given price over a specific period of time. The demand is usually downward sloping, since consumers will want to buy more as the price decreases. Demand for a good or service is determined by different factors other than price, such as the price of substitute goods and complementary goods. In extreme cases, demand may be completely unrelated to price, or nearly infinite at a given price (in the case of the tobacco industry) (Beardshaw, 1991). According to Philp, Dan and Galt (2009) it could be deduced that demand relative to the tobacco industry is caused by a number of aspects in which the key driver is the price of the cigarettes. Newport menthol 100s average price for a pack is $4.70 and a carton cost around $42.00. This price is relative to it s competitor Marlboro menthol red cigarettes, which is the number one cigarette of all time. Marlboro menthol red average price for a pack is $4.91 and a carton cost around $44.00. The price of Newports is set because it s a brand loyalty product. For example, in the clothes market, individuals would think of what Calvin Klein s would cost. If Parada sell 30% cheaper, then they would consider paying a much lower price. Cigarette valuing has long been a champion amongst the most fundamental advancing frameworks utilized by the tobacco relationship as a part of the USA ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Do Bystanders Need A Good Samaritan Law When it comes to the topic of bystanders, most of us will readily agree that when we see those in peril we should assist them. A bystander is a person who is present at an incident but does not report or assist the person. The problem with bystanders today in our society is that they don t take action when they witness people in peril and the outcomes are most likely to be assaults or deaths. We tend to believe that bystanders are depraved, indifferent, and heartless but in reality they may be afraid or don t want to be involved in the incident. These excuses or answers are extremely alike to what the bystanders claimed that were present in the 1964 killing of Kitty Genovese in New york. Kitty was stabbed 3 times and yelled each time she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A Good Samaritan is a helpful person (Referenced to Luke 10:33) so , having a Good samaritan law would fine or punish people who have failed to report or aid those in need. A Good Samaritan law would expand the active bystander population and be able to apply to all people. However, it would be more reasonable to have the formal punishments replaced , which are being imprisoned and excessive fines. These punishments are a bit to extreme and unfair to all people because not everybody would be able to physically call/help those in distress. Imagine you were blind and/or deaf walking in a boardwalk. Suddenly you think the day is calm and breezy but a someone fell in the water and was drowning and nobody is around to help and you yourself can t physically help. You then hear police and ambulance sirens coming to rescue the drowning person and they arrest you. The police completely understands the position you re in ,however the law is the law and it has to be followed. Wouldn t you want to give a proper excuse why you couldn t help ? A Good Samaritan law would have better alternatives for the punishments would be a warning, a bystander prevention class and if you couldn t physically help, an excuse card just like a handicapped tag. It would have life changing benefits to people who fail to aid those in peril because the bystander prevention class would make you in a position where you needed help or assistance but nobody did. • 4. Examples Of Contradictions In Fuzzy Logic Contradictions in Fuzzy Logic Kamp ([qtd. in Sauerland]) argue that it is absurd that p ∧ p has the same truth value as p ∧ ¬p if p is 0.5, and the latter statement cannot have a truth value of 0.5, becauses how could a logical contradiction be true to any degree? (qtd. in Sauerland 187). Sauerland ([year]) however thinks that this is not the case: if p contains a vague variable, the statement does not need to be a contradiction to be intuitive, e.g. What I did was smart and not smart, or Bea is both tall and not tall are statements which are contradictions, and they still make sense although they are vague (186). I agree that What I did was smart and not smart makes sense in vagueness and fuzzy logic: this statement might be false, or true, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The same holds for sentences like What I did was smart and not smart (cf. Sauerland ([citation?]), but sentences like he is tall and not tall are different: in this case you cannot say that the person is tall in some respects and not tall in other respects (except maybe when you argue that the person turns out to be a child who is tall compared to other children but not tall compared to adults), but more commonly you express an average height by this, which is between your personal crisp boundaries of tall and not tall respectively. Still, both sentences He is nice and not nice and He is tall and not tall are of the form p ∧ ¬p, and are not considered contradictions with a truth value of 0. But if you consider He is nice and not nice as the person being nice and not nice in the same respect, then of course the contradiction would be obviously present, in which case the truth value would indeed be 0 (I do not think that you could interpret He is tall and not tall in a way such that its truth degree would be 0): it would then be reasonable to interpret He is nice (in some respects) and not nice (in other respects) as rather p ∧ ¬q than p ∧ ¬p, because the different contexts in which he is nice and not nice might be seen as concepts which are not actually related, that is, the situations in ... • 6. Islamic Legal Reformers Of The Twentieth Century I. Introduction As Talal Asad has noted, religion is by no means disappearing in the modern world, and, [i]f anything is agreed upon, it is that a straightforward narrative of progress from the religious to the secular is no longer acceptable. (Asad: 2003: 1.) At the same time, and in relation particularly to the contemporary rise of Islam, [t]he question of secularism has emerged as an object of academic argument and of practical dispute. (Ibid.) The common view is that Islam and secular modernism constitute a duality, forever at odds, while others argue that the religious and the secular are a false duality and are indeed mutually constitutive of each other. (Agrama: 2). Viewed either way, the resurgence of Islam gives rise to important questions regarding its relationship to the secular modern state. In this short paper, I propose to engage with the works of two Islamic legal reformers of the twentieth century: Mohammed Abduh s classic Theology of Unity , first published in 1897, and Ahmad Safwat s lesser known article, The Theory of Mohammedan Law, published in a British law journal in 1920. Though quite different, both works are emblematic of this period in Islamic history when traditional Islamic law struggled to identify its proper role with respect to the increasing power and transcendence of the modern secular state. Moreover, each work is representative of two views of Islam and secular modernism and represent the genesis of both ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Restorative Justice Essay This essay aims to make clear the system of restorative justice and its aims towards youth offending, whilst arguing points for and against the current system and whether or not it is more appropriate in terms of dealing with youth offending. Making clear how and why these two systems came to be a part of youth justice whilst concluding as to which if either is more appropriate in dealing with youth offending behaviour. Restorative justice is a process whereby parties with a stake in a specific offence collectively resolve how to deal with the aftermath of the offence and its implications for the future (Munchie, 2004). There are already existing restorative practices that are place within the conventional criminal justice system at present namely probation, restitution and community service (Zehr, 1990). Admittedly they are not readily termed restorative justice programs however they are grounded in its theory. The current conventional criminal justice process takes a more punitive, retributive view of criminal justice. The retributive approach has become grounded into our current system of justice whereby it intends to establish blame on offenders and make them repay their debt to society by inflicting a form of punishment (Ball, 2000). The general stance in relation to the retributive system is that its more offender oriented and its focus is the past rather than the future (Griffiths, 1999). In addition to establishing blame, it tends to give less attention to future oriented concerns such as how to repair the damages caused by the crime and how future recurrences can be prevented (Young, M, 1999). It has been argued that the existing retributive system places excessive emphasis on the past whilst being less constructive towards victims, offenders and the society, as a result youths tend to get labelled as criminal from an early age leading in some cases to a life delinquent offending behaviour (Braithwaite, 1989). For the mothers, it is creating a future full of privilege and success. For the daughters, it is the freedom to take their opportunities and do with them as little or as much as they want. The daughters American ness is reflected most strongly in their relationships with men. Ted, Harold, and especially Rich, represent the American part of their wives, which for the mothers seems frighteningly disconnected from Chinese thinking. Suyuan wants Jing Mei to be the perfect American girl like Shirley Temple, but resents how little Jing Mei understands about Chinese culture. As Lindo Jong explains, these are the perils of being two faced. Fitting in one place means not fitting in somewhere else, and the challenge for Chinese American women is to find a balance that honours both cultures. Another very important subject is that which talks about love and marriages. On the one side we have the mothers who thought that love and marriage are not always holding hands. That is, a wife sometimes has to do things although she doesn t want to. We come back to role of the submissive woman. On the other hand we have the daughters, who believe that they have the right to find true love and to get married and if they marry, they have the right to be themselves and not what their husbands or the ... • 10. Why Statistics Are Part Of Everyday Life Statistics are part of everyday life. Whether we know it or not we use them in some way, shape or form during the course of our day. Business and medical professionals, sociologists and scientists alike all utilize statistics in order to determine probabilities of outcomes. The purpose of this paper is to discuss what I have learned about statistics in during this class covered during the last five weeks. The topics I will cover inform the class are descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, hypothesis development and testing, selection of appropriate statistical tests and evaluating statistical results. The intent is to discuss the application of the elements in analyzing and making decisions about data. Our book states that there are many kinds of descriptive statistics. Calculating measures of central tendency and measures of variability are two we focused on. As their names suggest, measures of central tendency indicate what is most typical in a data set. Measures of variability gauge how much difference there is in a set of measures (Tanner Youseef Morgan, 2013). Descriptive statistics aid in sorting through large amounts of data and making them understandable. In order to measure central tendency we utilize the mean, median, and mode. These are used to find the most frequent value (mode), the middle most value (median), and the average (mean). • 12. New England Vs Chesapeake Colonies While the people of the New England area and of the Chesapeake area came from English origin, by 1700 both areas had moved in two different directions. Both of these groups were blessed with issues that were unique to their regions, and each was forced to reconstruct their societies. As a result, the differences in the motivation, geography, and government in the New England and Chesapeake regions caused great difference in the development of each. As the regions began to develop, the motivation for settlement helped to shape the societies. New England had become a place where men looked for refuge from religious ill treatment and was established as a haven for religious refugees. Despite this reason for settling, the New Englanders still attempted to spread their own beliefs of religion. As shown by John Winthrop in his Model of a Christian Charity, he preached to his people that we shall be a city upon a hill , setting a spark to the Puritans desire for a Holy Utopia. John other New Englanders practiced the belief that they must all work together. Many people believed that this showed how much better, safer and healthier Britain was than its neighbours in Europe. Dickens believed that this was a brutal world where everything is measured by figures in a Gradgrind gospel of Fact . He has written a satire against the foundation and the constitutions of Industrial Society. A uniformly monotonous description is used, much like the movement of machine where products are continuously churned out . The language used in this chapter holds no complexity. It translates simply to the author s purpose; generating a cold mocking account a satirical bite . This is the main thematic contrast of the two texts. We find Lodge is very unclear in who is denounced, what the author feels about society. It is very difficult to gauge what the author thinks about the deindustrialisation of Britain in the 1980 s. Therefore we find the passage to be very much gentler in comparison, Lodge is not hostile to the West Midlands. Lodge mainly writes with a dry informative tone throughout most of the narrative. He has exercised in many respects a momentous influence on the doctrine, the organization, and the discipline of the Catholic Church. To him we must look for an explanation of the religious situation of the Middle Ages; indeed, if no account were taken of his work, the evolution of the form of medieval Christianity would be almost inexplicable. And further, in so far as the modern Catholic system is a legitimate development of medieval Catholicism, of this too Gregory may not unreasonably be termed the Father. Extremely knowledgeable researchers and devoted doctors have been grappling with problems such as cancer and AIDS for decades, yet nothing has been discovered or developed further enough to completely cure these and also many other forms of deadly illnesses. It is not possible to imagine the everyday life of a person plagued with terminal illness. Not only is their burden incomparably heavy, but also that of their family and friends who are forced to watch a loved one suffer over long periods of time. The Journal of Medical Ethics, one of the world s most respected voices in the field of medicine, attempted to explore the experience of 18 people fighting against a terminal illness and make known the opinion of patients who are the main target of any decision made over this issue. A young female patient suffering from chronic obstructive lung disease emphasized her desire to be in control of her own life and be given the right to choose death over life. She said, I ... • 19. A Lesson Of Oppression By Nella Larsen A Lesson in Oppression From the beginning of time and around the world, women have been subjected to patriarchal oppression in various forms. From economic hardships such as wage gaps or an inability to own property, to social mores such as submission in marriage and sexual objectification, women are systematically treated as second class citizens without a voice. African American women have faced these gendered challenges in addition to racial discrimination in the forms of slavery, unfair taxation, red lining, unequal access to education and derogatory media representation to name a few. Passing by Nella Larsen portrays two African American women as main characters who experience racial and gender oppression in various ways. Webster s Dictionary defines oppression as: the state of being subject to unjust treatment or control, prolonged cruel or unjust treatment or control; mental pressure or distress. Larsen s story delves into social and feminist issues of oppression such as loss of identity, oppressiveness of marriage, women s independence relating to women s lack of independence, the importance of marriage in society, how race and class function in society, and how relationships are dictated by race, class, and gender. Many of the issues explored in the story were likely experiences by the author herself. They believe in the motto spare the rod, spoil the child , meaning if parents do not physically discipline, the child is spoiled and lacks manners. Others, however, believe that exerting physical harm on a child for discipline does not make sense. They believe that there is always a better way to teach children right from wrong. Analysis Of The Book Count Ugolino Count Ugolino In the first round of the ninth circle of the Inferno, Virgil and Dante see two spirits pent in the ice; one spirit chews on the head of the other sinner. Dante questions the chewing sinner, and with this the soul lifts his from the other soul s devoured head, and begins to tell his story (Inf). He introduces himself as Count Ugolino, a nobleman of Pisa, and tells Dante that the other sinner, whom he was gnawing on, is Archbishop Ruggieri. Through a deceitful deception, the Archbishop put Ugolino and his suns in a tower, where they received only a small amount of light each day from a small lancid window in the wall. Ugolino uses his story s version as an act of revenge upon the bishop, whom he burns in Hell eternally with revulsion (Franke 31). Dante the Poet shares this story to allow the reader to feel immense sympathy and to stimulate the reader s hatred of Ugolino s tyrant; the suffering father in the story forgets his fate within his agony that he can do nothing for his children or himself. In addition, this suffering was an injustice, which gives the poet the right to be against Pisa (Yate 93). Ugolino s story has been constantly paired with Paolo and Francesca s story; both stories arouse deep emotion in anguish, but contrast in Dante the Pilgrim s reactions and responses to both sinners. Through these stories, Dante indicates human love and human sorrow break through in the Inferno (Yate 95). Ugolino is the father of sorrows that are easy to weep for. However, Ugolino is filled with rage, which persuades him to gnaw at his oppressor s skull. Dante seems to use this episode as a narrative of revenge, exposing Dante the Poet s weakness in his god like personality. Once the germs enter the lungs, the immune system responds by attacking.3 This causes the alveoli to inflame, turn red, and fill up with fluid and pus, which are the symptoms of pneumonia.3 There are three common bacteria that cause pneumonia Streptococcus pneumonia, Legionella pneumophilia, and Mycoplasma pneumonia.3 Streptococcus pneumoniae or pneumococcus are the most common ... • 39. Optimization Of Water And Nano Fluid Constructal optimization of water and nano fluid flow for micro channel heat sinks with rectangular cross section Abstract In this paper, three dimensional water and Al2O3 water nano fluid flow and heat transfer is optimized geometrically using constructal theory. A numerical code based on the finite volume method and SIMPLER algorithm is developed to solve the governing equations. The code is carefully validated by comparing numerical predictions with experimental data. In this study we consider aspect ratio, number of channels in the heat sink and solid fraction factor as degrees of freedom. Given a specific volume and axial length of the micro channel heat sinks and a fixed pressure drop, we want to find out the best possible number of channels in the system, and geometry of each channel that maximizes the global thermal conductance. Furthermore we investigate the effect of different pressure drops. The results show that the geometric parameters have a strong effect on the performance of micro channel heat sink. Comparison of the results of water and Al2O3 water nano fluid indicate that neither Re nor pressure drop along the channel are good parameters to compare the thermal performance of nano fluid and water. Key words: micro channel heat sink, nano fluid, Constructal theory, finite volume method, Pressure boundary condition Introduction Continued miniaturization of electronic systems has accentuated the need for highly effective compact cooling technologies. • 40. Middle Class Family Research Paper The Cadburys were an ideal example of how a middle class family could succeed during the industrial revolution. In Western England, the Cadbury family owned a small cloth and dry goods store, which flourished because of the industrial revolution. The Cadbury retail store ran by Richard and Elizabeth Cadbury, benefited greatly from the new sources of supply and expanding demand for cloth. This demand was derived from the industrial revolution making materials readily available to the public. The industrial revolution also brought more people into cities, resulting in more people able to buy these cheaper newer items. After years of expansion and growth, Richard and Elizabeth made enough money to move out to the suburbs and help their son John ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Cadburys were not different; they too followed the characteristics of a middle class family early on. In the Cadbury family and many other middle class families it was normal for the man to be the respected economic provider. But, the wife of Richard Cadbury, Elizabeth, also helped out the family business by running it while Richard was gone. On top of her duties to help out at the store, Elizabeth also had to fulfill her responsibility of running the household. They had eight children, which was actually considered a high amount for middle class families during the industrial revolution. The Cadbury sons would be sent off to be apprentices in different cities while the daughters would stay and learn how to work at the shop, the house, and the garden. During this time it was also common for shopkeepers and their families to live above their own store, which is what the Cadburys did until they earned enough money to move to the suburbs. All of these actions were very common amongst the Cadburys and middle class during this time. Certain values were upheld from family to family because they fit the status quo of the ... The Mona Lisa was a glorious representation of the talent that humans possessed. It made the people think and it benefitted people s minds because the painting left people asking questions. This painting was created during a very excellent time for art, and since the Mona Lisa was debatably the best painting of that time, that made the painting very famous. The Mona Lisa was one of the most 1 glorious works of the naturalism period and the Renaissance. The Mona Lisa looks so natural and so familiar, that we forget how innovative the painting was at the beginning of the sixteenth century. • 43. My First Day Of A New School I woke up to my alarm clock and mom banging on my door. The time is 7:50 and I am late for my first day to my new school. Unsure of what to do when I pull up to the school I ask my mom to move back to my old home. I walk into my new class with all eyes on me for being the new kid hoping the teacher seats me in the back of the classroom for a quick getaway when the bell rings. Unfortunately I was seated dead center, with an icebreaker activity. I met a new friend, his name was Augustine. Tall and skinny with no real confidence to him, I decided to talk to him to see how everything runs. Not to long before summer starts and I was hoping the days went by fast. After school was finally over it was time to go home. The first day of a new school was not as bad. I received a text message from my scout master saying the meeting starts at 7. Excited for the meeting to start I tried doing keeping myself busy. It came time for the meeting and got my shirt freshly ironed with my slacks. We were shown to dress up proper young men by our scout master. I walked into the door and saw everyone already sitting at the round table talking about our next camping and fishing trip. The scoutmaster would have us do charity work around the camp grounds picking up trash. Then the topic of our summer camp came up and we were all excited. The activities planned we all fun and exciting. Paintball and ziplining were my two favorite choice. My cousins were already jumping off the table. We planned to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Qualitative research refers to the process whereby researchers try to find out simply what exists , rather than how much . Qualitative research aims to develop initial ideas or insights to provide direction for any further research needed. It deals with the range of customer attitudes towards a product, rather than measuring what percentage of people hold a particular attitude (Lindridge et al.2010). • 47. Vatican II Council s Interpreting Scripture Analysis There is no doubt of the impact that Pope John XXIII s Vatican II Council had on many aspects of the life of the church. In particular, the orientations and convictions of the council on understanding the Christian life appears to have acutely responded to the needs of the people, as it fueled, if not ignited, an interest in spirituality that extended well beyond the Catholic Church, and well beyond the 1960 s. With a universal call to one holiness rooted in the call of Christian baptism, spirituality was no longer just for the ordained and the vowed religious. Further, the Council s emphasis on the role of the Word of God satisfied a deep hunger of the people to allow God s Word to penetrate their prayer, their morality, and their discipleship. ... Therefore, Christian spirituality must be rooted in the liturgical life of the church, that is, to be a part of the mystical Body of Christ. The Council understood the liturgy, specifically the Eucharist, as the source and summit of Christian life. It is the source of nourishment for our ethics, our morality, our sense of responsibility for, and accountability to, one another. It is here in the church, in the midst of diversity and inclusivity that we find our common ground living in the Spirit of Christ. It is in the liturgy that we are enlightened and empowered by the Holy Spirit, and gain the perspective of how the world should be rooted in communion and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
