Women During The Wild West
During the late 19th and early 20th century, the Wild West was a harsh yet extraordinary era
specifically on women. These women had to cope with bad living conditions, making them constantly
fight for their survival. The roles women took on we re extremely powerful and brave considering the
fact that obstacles were constantly thrown at them. Although women have always had to fight against
society since the beginning of time this era stands out due to the abnormal freedom they received.
Their freedom yet horrific fear, was given by the lack of laws during this time. Weapons were very
common, taking on a big role in society as a whole. Many women played big roles during this era.

Hospice Is A Good Option For Them
If a patient does not have the ability to exercise the right to die, hospice is a really good option for
them to control the pain and pass peacefully. Hospice care is specialized care designed to provide
support to a person and their loved ones during an advanced illness, it focuses on comfort and quality
of life rather than a cure. (Hospice, 2015) Hospice is really the only option for people who live in
states that do not support the right to die; it strives to give the patient the highest possible quality of
life and make them comfortable, so they can live their final days to the fullest. Hospice is offered in
the home, in long term care facilities, and hospice will do about anything to keep the patient
comfortable. They help prepare their patients and their families for the approaching death, and they
offer bereavement services to the family after the death for up to three months. Hospice is a great
resource for people who are ready to stop fighting and be comfortable, but it still does not provide the
freedom that the right to die laws can, like allowing people to make their own choices about their life.
Right to die laws are state mandated in only four states: Oregon, California, Washington, and Vermont.
State mandated means that if a person meets the requirements to exercise their right to die, and he can
find a physician that will write their prescription, he is free to do as he pleases. In Montana, right to
die is mandated by court ruling, which means you must go to

Tracking Population Movements With Mobile Phone Network Data
TITLE OF ARTICLE: Improved Response to Disasters and Outbreaks by Tracking Population
Movements with Mobile Phone Network Data: A Post Earthquake Geospatial Study in Haiti
AUTHOR(S) OF ARTICLE: Linus Bengtsson, Xin Lu, Anna Thorson, Richard Garfield, Johan von
Schreeb PURPOSE OF ARTICLE: This article was about research conducted on movements and
disbursement of populations after the earthquake and cholera outbreak in Haiti in 2010 and how the
movement of populations after a sudden disaster can impede response and actually increase the
mortality rate. Research was conducted, using subscriber identity module cards, or SIM cards, of the
population of the affected disaster zone to research the movement of people after the earthquake
struck. TOPIC: The topic of this research article was whether or not the use of SIM cards was a viable
way to measure and track disbursement of populations after a disaster occurred. MAIN
CONCLSUION: The main point that can be taken from this article is that this cellular data taken from
SIM cards can be used, with success, to track population disbursement after a disaster strikes. It can
allow emergency personnel to dispatch to the areas where the injured or stricken population have
traveled to, instead of setting up posts only at the place stricken. It can also give more specific
estimates to the population that could not disperse and were present during the event. They also found
that this method using technology can possibly be used for the

Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda
One of the most crucial aspects of any person s life is that they feel accepted by those who are most
important to them. For many, these people may include romantic partners, family, friends, co workers,
and classmates, among others. However, as a result of this need for acceptance, many individuals may
be afraid to reveal secrets in fear of being rejected by those who matter most to them. For example, in
Becky Albertalli s Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, readers follow sixteen year old Simon Spier
as he attempts to prevent the fact that he is gay from becoming public knowledge at the hands of a
blackmailer. Despite his efforts, Simon s secret is forcibly revealed, and he must brace himself for the
unpredictable reactions from everyone he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While it may seem like everyone is involved in everyone else s life in high school, this is not the case,
for Simon notes that his group of friends have their own little world. For example, this can be seen
when Simon describes the scene at his lunch table whenever it is someone s birthday: There s a
massive sheet cake at lunch, and when I get to the table, everyone is wearing party hats. That s the
tradition. No one gets cake without the hat (Albertalli 82). Simon goes on to state that, while they may
receive peculiar looks, some classmates try to join in on the fun just to obtain a piece of cake. This
shows that it is illogical to think that everyone is focused on every little detail about every other
person, since groups of friends in high schools can have their own quirky traditions without being
ostracized. However, despite all of this, the possibility of backlash from classmates isn t something to
rule out. While it is unlikely that every single person will go out of their way to harass Simon, it is
also illogical to think that everyone will accept him as well. As previously mentioned, Simon lives in a
suburb of Atlanta, Georgia, which is an area not necessarily known for its liberal views. This can be
seen when Simon states, At school, there are one or two guys who are out, and people definitely

Research Paper On Grimm Brothers
The Grimm brothers
The Brothers Grimm were two brothers named Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm who were born in Hanau,
Germany and their parents were named Philipp Wilhelm Grimm and Dorothea Grimm. The brothers
were German academics, linguists, cultural researchers and authors. Together they collected and
published strange folklore in the 19th century.
After their father died the family suddenly became very poor and that affected them for many years,
but still they went to the University of Marburg and that is when they first became curious about
German folklore and that became a lifelong dedication to collecting them.
A lot of the stories that they collected are still told today and there have been made a lot of movies
from those stories, for example

Paleolithic Mating System
The study, reported in the journal Science, examined genetic information from the remains of
anatomically modern humans who lived during the Upper Palaeolithic, a period when modern humans
from Africa first colonised western Eurasia. The symbolism, complexity and time invested in the
objects and jewellery found buried with the remains also suggests that it is possible that they
developed rules, ceremonies and rituals to accompany the exchange of mates between groups, which
perhaps foreshadowed modern marriage ceremonies, and may have been similar to those still practised
by hunter gatherer communities in parts of the world today. The study s authors also hint that the early
development of more complex mating systems may at least partly explain

The Benefits Of Free Community College Tuition
Throughout his presidency, Barack Obama has tackled pressing issues that pervade society. Among his
latest endeavours, free community college tuition is one which strikes a chord among many. Though
many supporters believe that free tuition will promote and speed up the process of attaining a college
degree, opposers, which includes students, like myself, believe that free community college tuition is
not necessary due to financial aid and the congested impact that CCs would endure.
Though in past years a high school diploma was highly sought, nowadays employers seek a candidate
with higher education including an associate s degree from a community college. The need for such a
degree faced with the cost of college has resulted in students

Mean Girls Essay
The film that I chose to write about is a Paramount Pictures presentation titled Mean Girls, starring
Lindsay Lohan and also featuring a handful of Saturday Night Live cast members, including Tina Fey
the author of this picture. The reason behind choosing this film is because it has a unique style of
introducing characters, transitioning between scenes, and various tools to help spice up the film. Being
one of my personal favorites, Mean Girls is a comedy about a home schooled teenage girl who enters
high school for the first time. She tries to figure herself out by where she can fit in and who she needs
to become friends with. Cady Heron is the main character (played by Lohan) who narrates through out
the movie. She spent her whole ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

they have the nerds, Asian nerds, jocks, varsity jocks, burn outs, girls who eat their feelings, girls who

the different cliques, you can see emphases toward judgment and criticism that was used. If you are
not in a certain clique, then you are not liked by or spoken to by that clique. Janis informs all of this to
Cady the same day that the gorgeous Plastics, consisting of Regina the Bratty Queen Bee and the two
princesses Gretchen and Karen, confront Cady and is asked by them to join them for lunch, because
she is really pretty. Cady says that eating lunch with them is like leaving the real world and entering

only be put back once a week, every Wednesday you have to wear pink, and so on. After lunch, when

1991 Sacramento Hostage Crisis
The United States had its largest hostage rescue operation in its entire history, during the 1991
Sacramento hostage crisis. Four Vietnamese men, aged between 17 and 21, with legally acquired
firearms purchased by the leader of the group, entered into a Good Guys! Electronics store with the
intention to hold hostages until the four gunmen would receive (as ransom) $4 million, four bullet
proof vests, a helicopter, and a 1,000 year old ginger plant (Gross, p. 10). The gunmen had told
negotiators and hostages that they were dissatisfied with their lives in the United States, frustrated by
the difficulty of finding jobs and eager to be movie stars during the televised hostage crisis (Gross, p.
8). These men wanted notoriety, and they wanted to return to their country of origin, Vietnam, using
the helicopter they demanded in the ransom. Despite threatening the hostages, shooting several of
them with the intent to injure them, and making wild ransom requests, the Vietnamese men made little
headway. After they realized their ransom offers were not going to be met, they pushed the negotiators
to give bulletproof vests in exchange for several women and children. After successfully delivering

Early Modern European History

The later Middle Ages is characterized as a time of great transition and advancement, especially
pertaining to areas of politics, economics, art and intellect. A new trend towards the pursuit of new
knowledge and ideas first emerged in fifteenth century Renaissance Italy. This new area of intellect
marks the emergence of humanism, which essentially came to be the defining characteristic leading up

Erasmus insisted that the dialectic method of the academic theologians had produced a theological
science that concentrated on trivial, abstruse questions of little or no real value to the needs of the
church (Nauert, 431).[vii] This argument became the basis for much of Erasmus highly esteemed,
accredited work; he was determined to defend [his] status as orthodox Catholic (Nauert, 431).[viii]
Soon, modern humanists greatest opposition was the church. Many criticized Erasmus, believing that
he lacked theological training and hence had neither a legal nor an intellectual right to speak and
publish on questions involving theology and the Bible (Nauert, 431).[ix] Until this point in my
discussion thus far, not much opposition has been mentioned. It is very important and essential to note
that this new topic of new knowledge created extreme amounts of tension, ultimately culminating in
the Protestant Reformation.
At the same as scholars such as Erasmus, Bacon and Galileo emerged, scholastic theologians
arrogantly sat back and issued condemnations, which greatly hindered the advancement of intellect
(Nauert, 431).[x] Clearly established thus far was the recently renewed desire for new knowledge; in
response, many new education establishments received great support and ideas began to circulate. In
order for the continuing and pursuit of the ever evolving goals of humanists, there needed to be some
change that would allow for this. This is one

Critical Success Factors
Quality is a very important factor in restaurants because a visit in a restaurant is usually something
people do to enjoy rather something that is of vital importance. Even if the prices for the meals in a
restaurant are low and the delivery times short this cannot compensate for poor quality of the food,
specially also because this is a health aspect. This makes it necessary to implement a quality control
system to ensure that the quality of the food is always on a high level.
In a restaurant, there are 6 important areas which have to be considered.
Accessibility, parking and surroundings
Reception
Kitchen cleanliness and utensils
Safety measures
Dining room
Service

convenience.
Front process (Service)
An employee is always behind the cashier counter to do take orders and do the checking. Dish
collecting is done by the employees to the kitchen. The table cleaning is done every time the
customers leave a table.
Back process
Cooking is made to order, and done after an order is made. Dish collecting and washing is done as
soon as the customers finish their meal for each table in dish washing machine. Waste managing is
done twice a day, once after lunch, and once after dinner.
Analysis
So, the overall quality of the restaurant is good because of Service , Accessibility, parking and
surroundings and Kitchen cleanliness and utensils factors in TQM. Analysis results are evident that the
restaurant success mainly comes from those three factors. Accessibility, parking and surroundings
factor have the effect in making the restaurant success in preprocess stage, Service factor play
important role to the success of restaurant in front process and Kitchen cleanliness and utensil factor
has significant effect in back process. Reception , Safety measures and Dining room

Medicine Is Not Just Been My Career Choice
Half awake, I could still hear the loud agonizing cries. I grabbed my mini stethoscope and hurried
downstairs to observe an impressive array of tasks to save lives. Though, I was a child, it was not the
first time I had seen a critical patient with a busy medical crew around. I grew up in a hospital where
both my parents worked full time. Gradually I started imbibing the quintessential values of a medical
career to the point when helping others was no longer an act, but a way of living life. This is why I
believe, medicine has not just been my career choice but a personal journey of self discovery and
human revelation.
In 2004, I donated all my savings to the Tsunami relief fund, which sowed the seeds for the growth of
the person I had chosen to become. Since then, years of experience as a president and a member of
various Non governmental organizations (NGO) including the American Red Cross Society has
inculcated in me the compassion and leadership qualities.
During my medical school, attending several enlightening workshops on Art of living and meditation,
assimilated in me higher moral values and an inner code of conduct. While, the hardships of staying
away from home at a boarding school with acute shortage of basic amenities were testing me, I
maintained a rank in top few students throughout my medical school. Teaching health issues and
nutritional requirements to primary school teachers and in Primary Health Care(PHC) centers of

Understanding Hate Crime Statutes And Building Towards A...
The topic of hate crime is so controversial because there can be different perspectives on the whole
issue, which can eventually cause a massive huge debate on the entire matter. In Ben Gillis article
called Understanding Hate Crime Statutes and Building Towards a Better System in Texas, the author
separates his points in a way that can give the reader a better way of understanding the Hate Crime
laws and the effects of it. Gillis s way of dissecting the article is extremely effective due to the fact
that not only he explains what exactly a hate crime is in its basic form but he also explains hate crime
in its entirety, and he also shows how some states adapt to the whole issue. People may ask in what
way does it make it in a sense illegal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now any one can take a jab at what they think a hate crime is but in the article Understanding Hate
Crime Statutes and Building Towards a Better System in Texas the author supports us with his
definition of a what is a hate crime a hate crime, at its basic level is an attack upon the person or
property of an individual motivated by hatred of a characteristic of that person, such as race, religion,
gender, sexual orientation, or ethnicity (Gillis 199). Now that the definition gives us clarity on what
exactly labeled onto what exactly is considered a hate crime. For example, did you know that if
someone vandalizes a synagogue and they write something offensive to the Followers of that
particular religion that will be considered a hate crime because of the person is motivated by hatred
towards the Followers (Gillis 199). You may have your own perspective on a particular group but if
you so happen to put your hands on the person to harm them because of your belief it becomes a hate
crime. In its basic form of what is a hate crime Gillis uses the definition so that the reader aware hate
crime criteria. Let us take another article for example, In opening of Jesse Larner s article Hate
Crime/Thought Crime he alluded to a situation where two Caucasian men decided to go and attack
two African American with the intent to do some serious harm to them. There were no knowledge as
to what was motivated them to do so. One thing for sure according to Larner, Sean Riley Caught up to
one of the victims and remorselessly told her I m going to kill you, you black bitch . Without a doubt it
is extremely obvious that hatred of a specific race was the driving force behind the gruesome actions
posed by the two men especially Mr. Sean Riley. There s no way that the 1st amendment of the United
States correlate with the criminal acts that

Discrimination Towards The Lgbt Community
Throughout the years, the LGBT community has put forth tremendous effort to gain rights and
recognition in the United States. Yet there have been numerous laws that have discriminated and made
them feel unequal. LGBT stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered. Many people in the
community have a hard time accepting who they truly are in terms of sexual orientation or gender
identity. Coming out is challenging enough on its own, and laws and regulations that discriminate
against those who only wish to live freely can make it hard for them to do so. Living in the time
period we do, we have seen many changes in the right direction as far as having equal rights for all,
but it has not always been this way. There have been many movements and actions the LGBT
community has taken over the years to get to where we are today. There have also been many laws and
regulations specifically targeted at same sex and transgendered individuals, some of which that still
apply today. Discrimination towards the LGBT community is not something new. Although today it
may seem normal to see two men holding hands walking down the street, forty years ago it was almost
unheard of. This is why the Supreme Court case Baker vs. Nelson made headlines. In 1972, the Court
ruled that a Minnesota same sex couple had no constitutional right to marry. This all started when two
male University of Minnesota students went to fill out a marriage application form. When the clerk
denied the application

Florida State College Case Study
Florida state college is a higher education institution that is driven by clearly stipulated values. It is
not allied with any other private or public university or college in Florida or elsewhere. However, for
an appropriate design as an employer organization, there are a number of aspects that have to be given
priority over others. I would rank them in this order; mission success, strategy or structure,
accountability or adaptability, and lastly, ladders or rings. The first and most important one is the
mission success. The mission of an organization indicates what the firm is doing, to whom and in what
context or location. In my view, this is extremely important for an employer as it is what informs the
employees of their role in that organization.

On Friday, January 31, 2014 Dr. Indrani Bose gave a seminar about her area of research, and discussed
her research objectives. The title of the seminar was Using RNA Interference to Understand the
Virulence and Biology of the Yeast Cryptococcus neoformans . At the beginning, she first compared
and contrasted the budding yeasts of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Cryptococcus neoformans.
According to Dr. Bose in the mini review, A Yeast under Cover: the Capsule of Cryptococcus
Neoformans, C. neoformans is a fungus that is ubiquitous in the environment, where it is found in soil,
in association with certain trees, and in bird guano (16) (1). She also stated because of its ubiquity, that

Bose stated that her long term goal is to discover better drugs to eradicate this disease from developing
in humans. She intends to do this by identifying the genes that are involved in the disease process, and
assessing their function. From that point she will attempt to discover or design drugs to inhibit these
genes from functioning. There are several factors that affect the virulence of Cryptococcus
neoformans; from its polysaccharide capsule, to its ability to grow at high temperatures, and its
formation of melanin. The last two factors are absolutely necessary to the pathogenicity of the fungi
(1).
The Dr. Bose discussed RNA Interference. She said that RNA Interference is used as a tool for
forward genetics , and that it selectively destroys specific mRNAs, which in turn creates knock down
phenotypes. Forward genetics is the random inactivation of 1 2 genes at a time, allowing for
selectivity of the phenotype. At this point, she began to describe the results from running RNA
interference on the Cryptococcus neoformans genome. She discovered that there was too much
expression of ADE 2, so she developed a stable marker, URA 5. The URA 5 selected for robust RNA
Interference. She discovered that the cells that did well with URA 5 would survive treatment with 5
fluororotic acid, and the cells that did poorly with URA 5 would not survive the treatment. She also
determined that silencing was RDP1 dependent. RDP1 is a wild type gene.
Then she developed a library

The Pros And Cons Of The BP Oil Spill
It is well known that in 2010 a oil spill occurred in the Gulf of Mexico. The oil rig Deepwater
Horizon, owned by BP, exploded and sank and caused a continued oil leak that released amlost 5
million barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico, the worst oil spill in U.S. history (Biello). In an address
delivered inJune of 2010, President Obama called the oil spill the worst environmental disaster
America has ever faced (Obama). Given the magnitude of the spill, and the media attention
surrounding the issue, the entire topic became an emotional subject and strong opinions were formed
regarding the nature of the spill and the correct way to proceed with containment and restoration. Of
the many debates surrounding the issue, one which falls prey ... Show more content on

While this fear seems valid when constructed without context, applying the specifics of the BP oil
spill show this line of reasoning to be a slippery slope fallacy. Spending 58 million dollars on one
hotel now will not lead to the complete squandering of the rest of the restoration resources simply
because, in comparison to the total funds, 58 million dollars is a small sum. When viewed through the
everyday experiences of a regular civilian, 58 million dollars is an almost incomprehensible amount of
money. However, The Telograph states that BP has spent 28 billion dollars on containment and
cleaning efforts and set aside another 20 billion as a compensation fund (Sherwell and Lawler). When
set against a total effort of 48 billion dollars that may be contributed from BP alone, 58 million dollars
accounts for roughly 0.12% of the potential resources dedicated towards the aftermath of the spill in
the Gulf. Given in figures more consistent with the experience of the average person, this is the
equivalent of about 60 dollars out of a 50 thousand dollar salary. While an ideological claim could be
made that all resources should be used on areas impacted physically and directly, the actual cost of the
hotel is too small to be an influence on wide scale decision making for the larger recovery effort

Lois Lowry s The Giver depicts the living in a futuristic society that has eliminated warfare, hunger,
agony, pain and has been converted to Sameness . It illustrates the story of a young boy, Jonas who s
living in this highly controlled community. This novel fits into a larger genre called dystopian
literature. It is set in a society which appears as a utopian society but as we progress it is revealed to
be a dystopian one. There is no prejudice in the community and it has also eliminated choice where at

making wrong choices. Jonas lives in a community where the people have not been exposed to the
risks of climate variation nor to the any forms of pain or suffering. Their development is stunted in
many ways in the name of stability and predictability. This novel has also depicted the relationship
between memory and wisdom because as we reach towards the end, Jonas has well understood what
will benefit and what will hamper the stability of the community and that has come through his new
memories and his discussion of these memories with the Giver. Jonas, the novel s protagonist is a
brave and quick witted boy with the Capacity to See Beyond. As the acquisition of society s memories
gives him wisdom and new appreciation for individual differences and human emotions, he gradually
becomes disillusioned with his society and is eventually faced with the choice either to continue being

The Artist Pablo Picasso
The artist Pablo Picasso is quite possibly one of the most famous artists to ever live. While he was one
of the greatest painters, he was also a man of many talents. He was a painter, sculptor, printmaker,
ceramicist and stage designer. Picasso was one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, as
well as the co founder of Cubism. His creativity, empathy, and mastery in the arts has led him to
become such a revolutionary artist. He devoted his life to painting and artistic production for the
simple fact of wanting to contribute to modern art in the 20th century. Picasso was born Pablo Diego
José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad
Martyr Patricio Clito Ruíz y Picasso on October 25th, 1881 in Málaga, Spain. Picasso s parents were
Don José Ruiz Blasco and Doña María Picasso y López. Picasso s father was a painter and art teacher.
Picasso was introduced to art by his father. Picasso showed a passion and displayed a prodigious talent
for drawing at an early age. His father decided to formally train him, at the age of seven, in the art of
oil painting and figure drawing. Picasso was a precocious boy whose budding talent grew to
overshadow that of his father. By the time he was 13.
The painting, Les Demoiselles d Avignon, was painted by Picasso in the year 1907 and is the most
famous example of cubism painting, as it is considered the first cubist piece of artwork. With this
piece Picasso marked an extensive break from the traditional characteristics of painting, he abandoned
all aspects of traditional art with this piece. He veered far from the representation and form often seen
in traditional art at the time. He depicted five naked women prostitutes in a brothel, but the women
were far from realistic. Picasso had drawn them nothing like the traditional paintings of women. Their
bodies were made up of flat, splintered planes rather than rounded volumes, their eyes were drawn
lopsided, and their faces were off putting. With this painting Picasso did things that no other artist had
contemplated at the time. This visual violent piece evokes and liberates eroticism. This piece and its
unbinding desire was unprecedented in art and in the culture of that

When you think of economics, you imagine the business field of finance and commerce; however,
reading Freakonomics you can see that this book defies that stereotype by distinguishing between how
the world works and how we think it should work. Freakonomics, shows the unconventional ways that
the world must operate in its everyday life. Throughout the book Stephen Levitt discusses how we as
humans are driven by incentives daily. Levitt explains the concept of correlation does not prove
causation to show that one thing happening might not have any correlation to the thing it may cause.
For example, he disputes that the more money a candidate uses on his/her election, the more likely
that candidate is to win elections. In the first chapter of Freakonomics, Levitt begins to tell how if
people are given incentives, more times out of none ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although a child s name does not have any impact on the economic success of the child. Levitt chose
to contrast name that black and white parents chose for their children. The name a child is given at
birth seems to be a predictor about who the parents are rather than what the child will become in their
future. A lot of names were also seen to show socio economic status and how they tend to cycle
through higher and lower strata s over time. Another thing we learned was that many of the names
given to a child, despite being white or black, tend to be very dissimilar. In this chapter, I tended to be
more drawn in because I never would have thought that that a child s name could have any affect
(which is does not) on the success of a child. Many people with the same name, I have learned are not
all going to be as smart or as well off as the other. Many names seem to have good or bad reputations.
There was said to be studies found that showed people with unusual name to drop out of school and

Argumentative Essay On The Internet
As technology begins to advance every day it starts to have a large impact on us humans, not only on
just our lifestyle but also the way we prefer to receive information. In the novel The Shallows, by
Nicholas Carr, he proclaims a biased argument about the internet consequently how it is changing our
ability to think logically because we are choosing the easier route to gain knowledge. Additionally,
argues that due to Google we lack our critical thinking skills causing less knowledge to be created.
The Internet is designed to connect people on a personal and commercial level, on the other hand, Carr
rejects that idea, moreover views it as making us individuals more shallow by using the Internet.
Despite the benefits the internet has, it is degrading us and we don t even know it. The internet is
constantly changing the way our brain works. Additional use of the internet causes our brains to
decrease the attention span we have. We were all born with a blank slate of minds with a basic brain
structure, though our synaptic (nerve cells) connect accordingly by experience. Cells that fire together
wire together. (Carr 27). If animals learn through repetition, us humans might as well. The consistent
usage of the internet to receive information quickly makes the human brain have a shorter attention
span. Due to neuroplasticity, we are utilized to receiving information so quickly, when we are given
something like a book, it makes it harder for us to understand the text since we

The Role Of Jesus In The Old Covenant
Many people don t appreciate change. They prefer to stay in their normal way of life, and enjoy their
routine. Unfortunately, life loves to throw curveballs and change is inevitable. Many people have
trouble accepting a new (way) of things and they cling to the old methods as long as they can. When
Jesus came to earth to die for everyone s sins, many Jewish people had struggles and doubts. They
were stuck in their old ways of worship that revolved around the temple, priests, and sacrifices, and
didn t believe Jesus was sufficient for forgiving their sins. Many converted believers began to wish for
the old way of life after Jesus ascended back to heaven and wondered whether or not Jesus was
actually the messiah. Leviticus goes into detail ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Old Covenant, people had to constantly sacrifice animals to cleanse their sins. These sacrifices,
just like the people, were imperfect and never completely took away their sin. They were a constant
reminder to God that the people were sinners, and he had not yet fulfilled his promise of sending his
son Jesus. (Insert Leviticus verse) Alternatively, Jesus was the fulfilling of God s promise and the end
to years of repeated sacrifices that never ultimately took away sin. Hebrews 9:12 says, He did not
enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the most Holy Place once for all by his
own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption. And Hebrews 9: 28 says, so Christ was sacrificed once
to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation
to those who are waiting for him. The people who clung to the Old Covenant were dubious about this
once time sacrifice that eliminated all sins, because they didn t know whether it would be enough. The
author of Hebrews constantly encourages them to believe that the perfect blood of Jesus was the
ultimate sacrifice that would cleanse all sins

East Of Eden Literary Analysis
Is there, then an evil that is innate, that is the little piece of monster in all of us. (Cusatis). Every
person has two sides, no one is completely good or completely evil. In the East of Eden, John
Steinbeck uses a biblical metaphor to illustrate the innate good and evil that humans encounter. The
novel includes several characters that are purely evil or do evil deeds. The Trask family is directly
correlated to the Garden of Eden and other biblical narratives. Steinbeck puts more into his stories
than Genesis 4 (Fontenrose). Steinbeck illustrates the concepts of good and evil, family, and love to
describe the frailties of the human experience.
The idea of good and evil is illustrated throughout the book. The novel spans several generations
playing out the biblical story of Cain and Abel not once but twice. Cal is a great example of evil. He
steals his brother s girlfriend and soon to be wife. He is constantly mean to his father being
disrespectful and disobedient him. In one instance Cal, destroys tons of ice because he is upset even
after his father tell him to stop. He obsesses over finding and making contact with his mother. He is
often described as dark and cold, he inherits those traits from his psychopathic mother. He is
sometimes good, once he warms up to Abra he is kind and sensitive. They go on a date and kiss
without Aron knowing. He agrees to care and marry for Abra, after Aron goes crazy and joins the
military. Abra is a good example of good, and

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Observation Methods
The observation method is the most commonly used method especially in studies relating to
behavioral sciences. Under the observation method, the information is sought by way of investigator s
own direct observation without asking from the respondent. The main advantage of this method is that
subjective bias is eliminated, if observation is done accurately. Secondly, the information obtained
under this method relates to what is currently happening; it is not complicated by either the past
behavior or future intentions or attitudes. Thirdly, this method is independent of respondents
willingness to respond and as such is relatively less demanding of active cooperation on the part of
respondents as happens to be the case in the interview or the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The results are then to be interpreted for drawing the inference from the experiment. Another
important thing in the observation is that this is a critical role player in any experiment or research.
The surveys in the research need to be observed minutely and they are to be interpreted by statistical
or theoretical means.
Observation thus is a vital role player in any research as these parts make or procure the data available
from different surveys like questionnaires or interviews to make the data converted to information.
This information is the player for justifying a hypothesis or making the research informative and result
oriented. Not only that, the observation also is concerned about the historical part of the research or
research field or topic. The topic or field on which the research is based is to be justified by the
previous researcher s view and view point and that is best done by the observation part. Thus
observation starts from the collection of data and interpreting them on the basis of the historical
research on the topic and also on the analysis of the participants and the participant s research
elements on the topic at earlier

FDR and Winston Churchill Essay
Between the years of 1939 and 1945 the world was sent spiralling in a mess of corruption, violence
and uncertainty. Allied powers were faced with the unparalleled task of protecting the world from
tyranny. In terms of political power, this weight was bestowed upon the shoulders of two memorable
individuals. By and large Winston Churchill and Franklin D. Roosevelt can be labelled as beacons of
democracy and leaders of the free world in their time.
Winston Churchill, the son of Lord Randolph Churchill, became an officer in the 4th cavalry in 1894.
Between 1895 and 1899 he served in Cuba, India and South Africa as a reporter. Churchill entered
politics in 1900 and held many government posts until he was appointed First Lord of the Admiralty ...

In 1936, Roosevelt was re elected to a second term in office. He denounced international aggression
and called for US entry into the war. In 1940, Roosevelt made history in becoming the only president
to serve for a third term in office. The United States, lead by Roosevelt entered the war after the
surprise attack on Pearl Harbour. On April 12, 1945, roughly a month before Germany surrendered to
the Allies, President Roosevelt died suddenly from a cerebral haemorrhage. He was succeeded by
Harry S. Truman.
Both Winston Churchill and Franklin D. Roosevelt were leaders of democratic societies whose general
principles strongly advocate the promotion and protection of freedom. Great Britain and the United
States of America respectively have been the two greatest democratic nations, in terms of economic
and military factors, throughout the greater part of the twentieth century. This being said, it is obvious
that any leaders of these countries must share a similar set of values and have a somewhat parallel
view of international affairs. Both Churchill and Roosevelt believed in democracy as the superior
political system in the world. They both understood that human beings should be given a certain
number of rights and be treated fairly in a society. They also viewed western style democratic living
standards as a model for how a society should run and how people should be treated.

Victoria set many regulations, demands and expectations in regards to women fashion and lifestyle.
Queen Victoria is recognized for her keen and unmistakable profile; as well as her seventy years of
kinship in England and her actions and demands amongst women of that time period and as well as in
that society. She established strict, personal morals for women in that era and explicit demands of the
way women were supposed to dress, whether it was inside or outside, they were expected to dress in a
certain way. In the video that was shown based on Queen Victoria and her outlook on women, it was
said that women spent most of their time changing clothes. In Queen Victoria s point of view, women
could only be considered as a proper lady only if they followed the morals and code of etiquette. This
idea was proposed by the Queen herself, but after a while it began to disintegrate due to the different
ideas that were publicized in magazines. Over time, women were becoming suffragists. They were
influenced by the ideas that were posted in magazines as to what the ideal woman was and they began

Why Summer Reading Is Important
Summer Reading Paper Lindsey Willingham Over the summer I read the book the crossover and the
book I am Number Four. I think students should be required to read over the summer for the following
reasons. First, most kids do not get engaged in educational activities over the summer, which leads to
learning loss, and reading over the summer can help that. Next, kids can learn a lot from reading and
can learn many new words, and gain knowledge. It also helps improve focus and concentration.
Reading is important all the time, but especially over the summer when you re not focused on
educational activities. When I first knew we had to do summer reading I thought it was dumb and
there was no point. Now that I think about it, there definitely was a point; I was not involved in many
educational activities over the summer except for summer reading. Research shows that students
typically score lower on standardized tests at the end of summer vacation than they do on the same
tests at the end of the school year. If students are not getting involved in activities and learning over
the summer they are going to experience learning loss, and it will be much harder at the beginning of

Social Class In Madame Bovary
In the novel Madame Bovary, Flaubert drew attention to the concept of social class and studiously
built all the characters according to their place in the communal hierarchy. Housekeepers, nurses, and
footmen, were representatives of the lower class people, who served a purpose of aiding the middle
class families, including the Bovary s. The higher class consisted of Rodolphe (the wealthy aristocrat)
and the guests we were introduced to at the ball earlier on in the book. The novel s protagonist, Emma
Bovary, who was educated in a convent and raised in the country, was undoubtedly categorized as a
middle class woman, yet whether or not that was her rightful status is the overriding question. Emma
married Charles at a young age in an attempt to detach herself from the mediocre way of life at the

Horizontal Integration Vs Vertical Integration
In the structure, vertical integration allows a company to take hold from start till the end of the
process. Usually, the vertical integration is seen in manufacturing process. Thus, in manufacturing,
vertical integration allows to control backward as well as forward process, right from controlling raw
material to the final step of controlling the consumers. The vertical integration is used to expand the
new operations in the firm. EX: a departmental store previously used to hire trucks and tempos from
outside for the transportation of the goods. Now, the store has expanded into new operation, it has
purchased its own trucks and tempos which as a result decrements the transportation cost since it does
need to pay outsiders for transportation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Horizontal integration is better for larger companies rather than small firms, as the companies
goodwill is at stake when getting into acquisition merger. It sounds beneficial for economies of scale.
It increases its power and business in market sector. It is used in business which are trying to invest in
foreign markets. Seeing all the negative and positive aspects, vertical integration is much better and
useful than horizontal integration. Vertical integration is more controllable as the expansion is within
the firm only. Thus it is less rigorous. The collaboration or merging act can be less controllable as the
previous firm is now dependent upon the new merged firm. Trust is the main key in horizontal
integration as it can be a loss in case the other merged firm can be fraudulent. In my opinion, vertical
integration is best for the workers as it enhances their skills and capabilities by expanding the
operations and introducing new operations within the firm. This implies that workers will be able to
discover their core capabilities and competencies within the organization, introducing them to new
processes may realize their areas of specialization which results in job satisfaction and they will be
motivated towards their work, which is better for them as well as the growth of the

this time, there were many developments emerging from this era. Developments included an increase
in farm size, land claims, land drains, and development of a national market based on minimal

In 1701, a seed drill was invented by Jethro Tull that allowed corn to be sown in regular rows. The
seed drill produced less wasteful crops and made laying seeds easier and more efficient. In 1703, The
Rotherham plow was invented in a village in Yorkshire making plows easier to handle and turned the
soil more effectively. Later in 1786, A Scotsman named Andrew Meikle invented a thrashing machine
that was used to separate ears of corn from stalks. The thrashing machine made picking corn ears
faster and more efficient, and required a lot less labor. The first machine made in the 19th century was
the first ever reaping machine invented by Robert Ransome. The only difference between this
invention and the seed drill, was the durability. Robert s reaper was a lot stronger and more efficient.
The last invention related to agriculture was the evolution of steam power. Steam power was applied
to plowing. The power was fixed to long cable connected to the plows that were then pulled across the
farm by a stationary steam engines. Steam power would increase efficiency and productivity unlike

It is said in Christianity Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. However, the priest
does not seem to agree with that statement. The fact of the matter is that death in the wilderness was a
sad, yet common thing during this time in Quebec. Therefore, the people did not see it as a big deal; it
was more or less a way of life. Unfortunately many people perished in this way. Another example of
this is when it was pronounced that François Paradis was lost; everyone basically gave up hope, and
simply decided to move on with their lives. On another note, Maria Chapdelaine s mother comes to
mind when the words, giving up are used, but in a more positive sense. Maria s mother gave up her
wish to live in the city, so she could please her husband. The relationship between mother and
daughter is very evident in this novel. It is implied by the priest that Maria has duties in the household
and duties as a woman. François Paradis also knew that Maria would make a good housewife, one that
would give wholly, love of the body and the soul that she would be a devoted spirit that would not

abduction, (winter storm) that is followed by a return to her mother s way of life. She generously

Elmer Driedger s Argument Analysis
In the words of Elmer Driedger (as cited in Boyd, 2015), the words of an Act are to be read in their
entire context in their grammatical sense harmoniously with the scheme of the Act, the object of the
Act and the intention of Parliament (p. 65). This approach advocates analysis which balances the
literal language used with the context of the statute and its intended purpose. This paper will assess the
strength Driedger s approach in relation to the cases R. v. Boudreault, Paldi Khalsa Diwan Society v.
Cowichan Valley (Regional District), and R. v. Skakun. It will be argued that Driedger s approach is
advantageous to the courts in general, but insofar as it is combined with the principle of stare decisis,
it is beneficial only when the judgments in precedent setting cases accord with fundamental justice.
Driedger s approach stresses that the language of a statute can be insufficient to determine the full
intent of the legislature, and so in these cases use of external sources may be necessary ... Show more

The Argument Of The Film About The Past
I will prove that that the argument of the film about the past can inform our understanding of
ourselves today in many different ways. As history can be very influential to a nation, by the way we
recall and decipher those history facts that give us a feeling of place and self as a nation. However we
should recall how those authentic flashbacks can, and regularly are, controlled for different political

My Week As A Business Analyst
My Week As A Business Analyst
My week as a Business Analyst was a very eye opening and educational experience. The reason I
chose to job shadow a Business Analyst is because I wanted to learn more about a career in
Information Technology. My mentor has over twelve years experience as a Business Analyst in the
area of Quality Management and Regulatory Affairs for a medical device company. I wasn t sure what
to expect because I had never been exposed to this kind of environment. However, I was eager to learn
about the functions of an IT Business Analyst. In addition, I was really looking forward to the
opportunity of exploring other areas of the company.
There are a number of factors that go into becoming an IT Business Analyst ... Show more content on

A meeting needed to be scheduled with the customer who was located in Ireland. In addition, there is a
change control process that is used when creating and completing any new development. This change
control process is based on requests from the business. Then, procedures must be followed to
implement these requests.
Most requests follow a general guideline and a series of steps. The first step of the change control
process is to identify what must be changed and document those changes. The second step is to
validate the change with management approval. The third step is to analyze how long it will take, how
much it will cost, and how the change will impact the current software design. The fourth step is
control which is the deciding factor on whether you want to proceed with the change. The fifth step is
action which includes documenting and implementing the changes. The sixth and final step is to verify
that all documentation is complete and close the request.
During my week of job shadowing, I saw all of these steps being completed and learned about the
process. The company used a software tool for the change control process called Remedy. This is a
software that is in compliance with guidelines set by the FDA. (Federal Government) The changes
themselves were implemented in the SAP software.
There is a lot involved in documenting the action step in the change control process. There are

Further, U.S. consumers face stubbornly high unemployment and slow economic growth. In the
weakened economy, Kraft had to drive their sales volume with more advertising and a greater range of
products and prices, in what they called a good, better, best strategy. (Martinne Geller). (February 10,
2009). The economic environment has not improved and that creates a burning platform for Kraft, our
customers and our industry. Kraft shares were down 22 cents, or 0.5 percent, at $44.48 in late morning
trade. The broader market, as measured by the S P 500 index, was down more than 2 percent, a day.
Kraft said net income rose to $470 million, or 79 cents per share, from $417 million, or 70 cents per
share, a year earlier. Revenue increased 3 percent to $4.61 billion. Most of the increase came from
volume gains and selling a more expensive mix of products, with a smaller contribution from price
increases. (Martinne Geller). (February 10, 2009). The company affirmed its 2013 outlook, calling for
earnings of $2.60 per share and revenue growth in line with the rest of the North American food and
beverage market. Kraft s revenue in the current fourth quarter would be flat to down due to a
comparison with the years earlier period when retailers increased orders in advance of a price
increase. Kraft would eventually lose sales of some of its products that it pruned from its portfolio.

Organizational Analysis
How an organization is structured has enormous consequences not only for the success of its business
but, also, for the success of its employees.
Though it is obvious why understanding organizations is critical to business success, nevertheless it is
worthwhile to review these reasons. The structure of a firm either enhances or hinders efficiency and
productivity. In other words, how information flows and to whom, whether and how many parts of the
work process is redundant, how clear and precise is the reporting structure, if and how new ideas and
products are promoted these and many more issues are obvious consequences of structure and
profoundly affect the success of the business.
What may not be as obvious but is clearly as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Information systems are state of the art. The recipients of this information have to be able to act
quickly to stay on top. Thus, they have to be very team centered (to analyze the information and to
translate it into new products and services), and they have to have a great deal of leeway with respect
to decision making and authority (to respond promptly to customer needs).
A growing and successful construction company prided itself on building expensive homes geared to
client needs and adaptable to client wants. However, client requirements were initially not addressed
in depth, methods to solicit this information were not developed (e.g., the use of software that would
enable clients to imagine being inside the house as it was being built), contact was initiated only when
another payment was due, and only the owner could fix the final price of the house. The net result was
that the owner, in effect, convinced buyers what they should want, thereby dramatically increasing the
number of client initiated changes as the clients along the way became clearer about what they
wanted.
Information about customer initiated changes was frequently communicated incorrectly or late to the
field, even more increasing construction costs due to the need to undo work that had been already
completed. Sales people were pre empted at closing regarding sales price, making for rapid turnover
of sales people and suspicious

Technology and Its Influence of Modern Transportation Essay
Technology has impacted the modern transportation. Transportation has become faster like individuals
can move rapidly starting with one place then on to the next. In the past, people cannot travel as
rapidly as today because of not having enough modern transportation. It takes just a few hours to
travel nowadays, so this lead to people travel more. Individuals can get information easily about their
cultures like what they wear, what they eat, an dhow they behave. This is how some people s custom
has been changed.
Satellite TV move to the way that affects culture. Most of the TV programs now days are received to

Sixty two percent of teachers say they use digital media twice a week or more and 24 percent say they
use it every day to help them teach. The numbers of teachers using TV and video content in the
classroom are even higher. Over 80 percent of teachers say they use TV or video to teach a lesson at
least once a month and 76 percent are streaming it from the web (par. 2). People can take online
courses these days. It is a chance for most people to get online courses on their own place. Students
have the capacity to look over many diverse programs that would help them with their needs.
Nowadays, most of the programs are available online from each department like business,
management, and information technology. Additionally, students can browse different sorts of degree.
The online courses have lower costs since they do not buy textbooks; they can downloads all
assignments and all different materials that are required for their classes. Another benefit of these
online classes is saving time since students do not have to attend classes, so they might have more
time to do their assignments and study. Online classes evacuate the anxiety by permitting learners to
study when it is helpful for most learners would like to study at different time. Likewise, students at
schools have to take their exams and quizzes on the day their instructor planned for , but

Prozac Nation Character Analysis
Film Analysis Abnormal Psychology Prozac Nation (2001)
1) How does Lizzie (Christina Ricci) describe her depression?
Lizzie describes her depression in various ways to herself and others. She says that she felt as if she
was, drowned by some kind of black wave. This wave overpowered her. Also, she talked about how
she was always exhausted when she woke up, because her mind was running wild all night; she had
clear sleep deprivation. She shows the depression symptom of suicidal thoughts when she says, I m in
more trouble than I m worth. With this, we can apply that she does not feel as though she is worth
anything in this life at this moment. Continuing, she describes her depression more so as I m falling
and I m dead [inside]. We can truly see the sadness that is inside her.
2) How do Lizzie s friends and family react to her depression?
Lizzie s friends and family reacted in various ways to her depression. The most common trend that
seemed to happen was that everyone wanted to help her, but they did not know how. One instant that
her friends helped her was when they brought her to therapy. But her friends abandoned her
throughout the movie, because they were worried and got upset with her behavior. Her mom was very
worried about her and cried a lot. However, her Mom did tell her that she didn t have to change herself
at all. All in all, the reactions ranged from isolation to supportive.
3) Which personality disorder would you diagnose Lizzie with and why?

The Removal Of The Confederate Flag
I believe that the removal of the confederate flag is related to criminal justice because it may be
offensive to a lot of people. I feel that when certain individuals see the flag it may remind them of hate
, mistreatment , and slavery. According to an article, Hays board members, on a 5 2 vote, amended the
student code of conduct to ban the flag, which formerly was displayed with the Hays High School
Rebel mascot. The ban also covers any imagery deemed to be racially hostile, offensive or intolerant.
(First Amendment Center, 2012). As you can see there are going to be several difference of opinions
on this issue. I feel that we as country should do what is best to help meet the safety of all individuals.

(First Amendment Center, 2012). With an incident like that occurring the teacher could have gotten
upset and acted out on the students. The students could have done something worst the next time if the
school continued to fly the flag, such as physically attack the teacher.
One reason why I feel that the confederate flag should continue to fly is because of what it stands for
and means to diverse individuals. For example, I do not feel that all white people in the south are
racist. Owens stated, I was raised in this tradition. My forebears were Texans and Marylanders who
fought for the Confederacy. In our household, the battle flag symbolized the valor shown by
Southerners, most of whom did not own slaves, on countless battlefields. (M.Owens, 2000). I believe
the any race can be racist to any of group of people other than themselves.
Another reason why I feel that the confederate flag should continue to fly is because we live in a
country that stands for freedom. I mean we supposed to be free to speak out voice our opinions;
therefore, if individuals wanted to fly the confederate flag they should be free to do so. Once again I
feel that it goes back to people beliefs, morals, values, and religion. According to an article, the federal
government, in this biblical view, is largely unconstitutional. Thus, Moore and his fellow travelers
believe that federal courts cannot tell the states what to do, be it on

Homecoming School Pride
Homecoming is a day where our school pride can be seen throughout the entire student body, and
when clubs come together to showcase what they are all about. I did not realize there was an immense
amount of planning going on behind the scenes, until I was placed in charge of the parade portion of
the event in my sophomore year. Throughout organizing the event, I began to see how Homecoming
brought students of my high school and people of the community together. It helped renewed the
school pride that had been fading from our school over the years and reminded students to be proud of
their alma mater.
I believe that a person learns best when they are surrounded by people who want to see them succeed.
I love helping others reach their goals as

Internal Assessment Of Puma

Internal Assessment Question: How can a popular brand, such as PUMA, increase sales?
Introduction
PUMA is a German Sportswear company that produces and sells sporting and casual apparel to
athletes and the average person all over the globe. PUMA is technically a later version of the German
sports footwear store, Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory , founded by the brothers Rudolf and Adolf
Dassler in the early 1920 s. Dassler Brothers shoe factory very popular in the 1920 s. They had a great
amount of exposure. Famous Athletes wore their products and they were worn in events that were
really a big deal. For example, at the Olympic Summer Games in Amsterdam in 1928, a lot of the
German athletes wore Dassler spikes. In 1936, Jesse Owens won four gold medals at the Olympic
Games in Berlin wearing spikes made by Dassler. Approximately seven gold medals and five bronze
medals were won by world class athletes wearing Dassler shoes and two World and five Olympic
records were broken. The actual company was called Ruda but then changed to PUMA was officially

One opportunity that opened up in recent times is advanced technology. Through technology, PUMA
is able to get their products out there through websites, and social media acoounts. Social media is the
best way to get the younger generation. This helps build their market, audience, and gain sponsors for
their brand. It also helps build on strengths like branding and strengthening their management side.
Once PUMA gets ahead and uses things like technology, things will increase. Just the internet alone is
a powerful source. Technology can also improve the quality of their products. no matter if it is
designingactually putting it together, technology helps get it done. The more appealing the product,
the easier it is to get the product out there, and the easier it is to sell

Phone Patrol School
Should schools and officials be able to go through one s phone for information? I don t believe that
schools and officers have the right to be able to go through a suspect s phone for information about
something, I believe it is a violation of privacy, and ignores the fourth amendment which protects
people from random search and seizures. For example, they could have embarrassing or funny
personal photos and videos with a friend that they wouldn t want anyone watching or seeing. In the
article Phone Patrol it states People could have....pictures in there, like of their girlfriends, that they
don t want somebody else to see, and it would be an invasion of privacy not only for them, but the
other person also. , and I believe police don t need to be snooping through a suspect s personal
information and pictures because they are invading one s privacy. In addition, schools shouldn t be
able to stalk and look at a student s social media and then go through that students stuff. If there s a
situation, the school shouldn t get involved, they should let the student s parents take care of that. In
the article Password Protected , it says Schools do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Compare 10 Things I Hate About You And The Taming Of The...
We see many modern things such as, movies, plays, lifestyles that are linked to the past. How are the
modern times related to and linked to the past life? The things we watch and see these days are usually
evolved from a previous idea in the past. There are many examples of modernized adaptation and
movies that were based on or inspired by an idea from the past. Some examples can be 20th Century
Oz which is a modernized version of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz , Artificial Intelligence that is a self
referential form of The Adventures of Pinocchio , She s The Man is based on Twelfth Night , and The
Lion King which is based on Hamlet . Most modernized movies are inspired by Shakespeare s work
and the reason for that is because Shakespeare s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since 10 Things I Hate About You is a modern adaptation of The Taming of the Shrew the characters
share similar personalities and even names. First, they have the same main characters. Kathrine
Minola in The Taming of the Shrew and Kat Stratford from 10 Things I Hate About You are both
women who are very rude, harsh and are sometimes violent. From their personalities, it is obvious that
both are the shrew in the play and the movie, which means they are argumentative and ill tempered.
Kat is more verbally abusive while Kathrine is physically abusive. Although they are seen and viewed
as shrews , Kat is more like an opinionated woman who believes in what she thinks and is not afraid to
say it. Petruchio and Patrick Verona, loved which is from the movie 10 Things I Hate About You , are
the suitors for Kat and Kathrine. Although in 10 Things I Hate About You Kat and Patrick did fall in
love but Petruchio and Kathrine did not love each other, their relationship was mostly about the
money that was given by Bapista to Petruchio. The difference is also the age. In 10 Things I Hate
About You they are all high school students while in The Taming of the Shrew they are of marrying
age. Then there is Lucentio, Cameron in 10 Things I Hate About You . They both like Bianca, Bianca
Minola in The Taming of the Shrew which are Kat/Kathrine s sisters. Cameron was not very confident
to go to Bianca and talk to her when he first saw her. Lucintio in the other hand was a man with high
self esteem. An example of a quote said by Lucintio about Bianca is O Tranio, till I found it to be true,
I never thought it possible or likely. But see, while idly I stood looking on, I found the effect of love in
idleness And now in plainness do confess to thee That art to me as secret and as dear As Anna to the

  • 2. Women During The Wild West During the late 19th and early 20th century, the Wild West was a harsh yet extraordinary era specifically on women. These women had to cope with bad living conditions, making them constantly fight for their survival. The roles women took on we re extremely powerful and brave considering the fact that obstacles were constantly thrown at them. Although women have always had to fight against society since the beginning of time this era stands out due to the abnormal freedom they received. Their freedom yet horrific fear, was given by the lack of laws during this time. Weapons were very common, taking on a big role in society as a whole. Many women played big roles during this era. • 3. Hospice Is A Good Option For Them If a patient does not have the ability to exercise the right to die, hospice is a really good option for them to control the pain and pass peacefully. Hospice care is specialized care designed to provide support to a person and their loved ones during an advanced illness, it focuses on comfort and quality of life rather than a cure. (Hospice, 2015) Hospice is really the only option for people who live in states that do not support the right to die; it strives to give the patient the highest possible quality of life and make them comfortable, so they can live their final days to the fullest. Hospice is offered in the home, in long term care facilities, and hospice will do about anything to keep the patient comfortable. They help prepare their patients and their families for the approaching death, and they offer bereavement services to the family after the death for up to three months. Hospice is a great resource for people who are ready to stop fighting and be comfortable, but it still does not provide the freedom that the right to die laws can, like allowing people to make their own choices about their life. Right to die laws are state mandated in only four states: Oregon, California, Washington, and Vermont. State mandated means that if a person meets the requirements to exercise their right to die, and he can find a physician that will write their prescription, he is free to do as he pleases. In Montana, right to die is mandated by court ruling, which means you must go to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Tracking Population Movements With Mobile Phone Network Data TITLE OF ARTICLE: Improved Response to Disasters and Outbreaks by Tracking Population Movements with Mobile Phone Network Data: A Post Earthquake Geospatial Study in Haiti AUTHOR(S) OF ARTICLE: Linus Bengtsson, Xin Lu, Anna Thorson, Richard Garfield, Johan von Schreeb PURPOSE OF ARTICLE: This article was about research conducted on movements and disbursement of populations after the earthquake and cholera outbreak in Haiti in 2010 and how the movement of populations after a sudden disaster can impede response and actually increase the mortality rate. Research was conducted, using subscriber identity module cards, or SIM cards, of the population of the affected disaster zone to research the movement of people after the earthquake struck. TOPIC: The topic of this research article was whether or not the use of SIM cards was a viable way to measure and track disbursement of populations after a disaster occurred. MAIN CONCLSUION: The main point that can be taken from this article is that this cellular data taken from SIM cards can be used, with success, to track population disbursement after a disaster strikes. It can allow emergency personnel to dispatch to the areas where the injured or stricken population have traveled to, instead of setting up posts only at the place stricken. It can also give more specific estimates to the population that could not disperse and were present during the event. They also found that this method using technology can possibly be used for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda One of the most crucial aspects of any person s life is that they feel accepted by those who are most important to them. For many, these people may include romantic partners, family, friends, co workers, and classmates, among others. However, as a result of this need for acceptance, many individuals may be afraid to reveal secrets in fear of being rejected by those who matter most to them. For example, in Becky Albertalli s Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, readers follow sixteen year old Simon Spier as he attempts to prevent the fact that he is gay from becoming public knowledge at the hands of a blackmailer. Despite his efforts, Simon s secret is forcibly revealed, and he must brace himself for the unpredictable reactions from everyone he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While it may seem like everyone is involved in everyone else s life in high school, this is not the case, for Simon notes that his group of friends have their own little world. For example, this can be seen when Simon describes the scene at his lunch table whenever it is someone s birthday: There s a massive sheet cake at lunch, and when I get to the table, everyone is wearing party hats. That s the tradition. No one gets cake without the hat (Albertalli 82). Simon goes on to state that, while they may receive peculiar looks, some classmates try to join in on the fun just to obtain a piece of cake. This shows that it is illogical to think that everyone is focused on every little detail about every other person, since groups of friends in high schools can have their own quirky traditions without being ostracized. However, despite all of this, the possibility of backlash from classmates isn t something to rule out. While it is unlikely that every single person will go out of their way to harass Simon, it is also illogical to think that everyone will accept him as well. As previously mentioned, Simon lives in a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia, which is an area not necessarily known for its liberal views. This can be seen when Simon states, At school, there are one or two guys who are out, and people definitely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Research Paper On Grimm Brothers The Grimm brothers The Brothers Grimm were two brothers named Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm who were born in Hanau, Germany and their parents were named Philipp Wilhelm Grimm and Dorothea Grimm. The brothers were German academics, linguists, cultural researchers and authors. Together they collected and published strange folklore in the 19th century. After their father died the family suddenly became very poor and that affected them for many years, but still they went to the University of Marburg and that is when they first became curious about German folklore and that became a lifelong dedication to collecting them. • 7. Paleolithic Mating System The study, reported in the journal Science, examined genetic information from the remains of anatomically modern humans who lived during the Upper Palaeolithic, a period when modern humans from Africa first colonised western Eurasia. The symbolism, complexity and time invested in the objects and jewellery found buried with the remains also suggests that it is possible that they developed rules, ceremonies and rituals to accompany the exchange of mates between groups, which perhaps foreshadowed modern marriage ceremonies, and may have been similar to those still practised by hunter gatherer communities in parts of the world today. The study s authors also hint that the early development of more complex mating systems may at least partly explain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Among his latest endeavours, free community college tuition is one which strikes a chord among many. Though many supporters believe that free tuition will promote and speed up the process of attaining a college degree, opposers, which includes students, like myself, believe that free community college tuition is not necessary due to financial aid and the congested impact that CCs would endure. • 10. Mean Girls Essay The film that I chose to write about is a Paramount Pictures presentation titled Mean Girls, starring Lindsay Lohan and also featuring a handful of Saturday Night Live cast members, including Tina Fey the author of this picture. The reason behind choosing this film is because it has a unique style of introducing characters, transitioning between scenes, and various tools to help spice up the film. Being one of my personal favorites, Mean Girls is a comedy about a home schooled teenage girl who enters high school for the first time. Janis informs all of this to Cady the same day that the gorgeous Plastics, consisting of Regina the Bratty Queen Bee and the two princesses Gretchen and Karen, confront Cady and is asked by them to join them for lunch, because she is really pretty. Cady says that eating lunch with them is like leaving the real world and entering girl world, for example she is given a set of rules like only wearing jeans once a week, your hair can only be put back once a week, every Wednesday you have to wear pink, and so on. • 11. 1991 Sacramento Hostage Crisis The United States had its largest hostage rescue operation in its entire history, during the 1991 Sacramento hostage crisis. Four Vietnamese men, aged between 17 and 21, with legally acquired firearms purchased by the leader of the group, entered into a Good Guys! Electronics store with the intention to hold hostages until the four gunmen would receive (as ransom) $4 million, four bullet proof vests, a helicopter, and a 1,000 year old ginger plant (Gross, p. 10). The gunmen had told negotiators and hostages that they were dissatisfied with their lives in the United States, frustrated by the difficulty of finding jobs and eager to be movie stars during the televised hostage crisis (Gross, p. 8). These men wanted notoriety, and they wanted to return to their country of origin, Vietnam, using the helicopter they demanded in the ransom. Despite threatening the hostages, shooting several of them with the intent to injure them, and making wild ransom requests, the Vietnamese men made little headway. After they realized their ransom offers were not going to be met, they pushed the negotiators to give bulletproof vests in exchange for several women and children. Humanism and the Renaissance + Protestant Reformation = Scientific Revolution Kelly McCabe CCM Summer Session III Professor Pilant Term Paper CCM Summer Session III 2012 Early Modern European History Term Paper The later Middle Ages is characterized as a time of great transition and advancement, especially pertaining to areas of politics, economics, art and intellect. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Erasmus insisted that the dialectic method of the academic theologians had produced a theological science that concentrated on trivial, abstruse questions of little or no real value to the needs of the church (Nauert, 431).[vii] This argument became the basis for much of Erasmus highly esteemed, accredited work; he was determined to defend [his] status as orthodox Catholic (Nauert, 431).[viii] Soon, modern humanists greatest opposition was the church. Many criticized Erasmus, believing that he lacked theological training and hence had neither a legal nor an intellectual right to speak and publish on questions involving theology and the Bible (Nauert, 431).[ix] Until this point in my discussion thus far, not much opposition has been mentioned. It is very important and essential to note that this new topic of new knowledge created extreme amounts of tension, ultimately culminating in the Protestant Reformation. At the same as scholars such as Erasmus, Bacon and Galileo emerged, scholastic theologians arrogantly sat back and issued condemnations, which greatly hindered the advancement of intellect (Nauert, 431).[x] Clearly established thus far was the recently renewed desire for new knowledge; in response, many new education establishments received great support and ideas began to circulate. In order for the continuing and pursuit of the ever evolving goals of humanists, there needed to be some change that would allow for this. This is one

This makes it necessary to implement a quality control system to ensure that the quality of the food is always on a high level. I grabbed my mini stethoscope and hurried downstairs to observe an impressive array of tasks to save lives. Though, I was a child, it was not the first time I had seen a critical patient with a busy medical crew around. I grew up in a hospital where both my parents worked full time. Gradually I started imbibing the quintessential values of a medical career to the point when helping others was no longer an act, but a way of living life. This is why I believe, medicine has not just been my career choice but a personal journey of self discovery and human revelation. In 2004, I donated all my savings to the Tsunami relief fund, which sowed the seeds for the growth of the person I had chosen to become. Since then, years of experience as a president and a member of various Non governmental organizations (NGO) including the American Red Cross Society has inculcated in me the compassion and leadership qualities. During my medical school, attending several enlightening workshops on Art of living and meditation, assimilated in me higher moral values and an inner code of conduct. While, the hardships of staying away from home at a boarding school with acute shortage of basic amenities were testing me, I maintained a rank in top few students throughout my medical school. The topic of hate crime is so controversial because there can be different perspectives on the whole issue, which can eventually cause a massive huge debate on the entire matter. In Ben Gillis article called Understanding Hate Crime Statutes and Building Towards a Better System in Texas, the author separates his points in a way that can give the reader a better way of understanding the Hate Crime laws and the effects of it. Gillis s way of dissecting the article is extremely effective due to the fact that not only he explains what exactly a hate crime is in its basic form but he also explains hate crime in its entirety, and he also shows how some states adapt to the whole issue. People may ask in what way does it make it in a sense illegal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now any one can take a jab at what they think a hate crime is but in the article Understanding Hate Crime Statutes and Building Towards a Better System in Texas the author supports us with his definition of a what is a hate crime a hate crime, at its basic level is an attack upon the person or property of an individual motivated by hatred of a characteristic of that person, such as race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or ethnicity (Gillis 199). Now that the definition gives us clarity on what exactly labeled onto what exactly is considered a hate crime. For example, did you know that if someone vandalizes a synagogue and they write something offensive to the Followers of that particular religion that will be considered a hate crime because of the person is motivated by hatred towards the Followers (Gillis 199). You may have your own perspective on a particular group but if you so happen to put your hands on the person to harm them because of your belief it becomes a hate crime. In its basic form of what is a hate crime Gillis uses the definition so that the reader aware hate crime criteria. Let us take another article for example, In opening of Jesse Larner s article Hate Crime/Thought Crime he alluded to a situation where two Caucasian men decided to go and attack two African American with the intent to do some serious harm to them. There were no knowledge as to what was motivated them to do so. • 18. Discrimination Towards The Lgbt Community Throughout the years, the LGBT community has put forth tremendous effort to gain rights and recognition in the United States. Yet there have been numerous laws that have discriminated and made them feel unequal. LGBT stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered. Many people in the community have a hard time accepting who they truly are in terms of sexual orientation or gender identity. Coming out is challenging enough on its own, and laws and regulations that discriminate against those who only wish to live freely can make it hard for them to do so. Living in the time period we do, we have seen many changes in the right direction as far as having equal rights for all, but it has not always been this way. There have been many movements and actions the LGBT community has taken over the years to get to where we are today. There have also been many laws and regulations specifically targeted at same sex and transgendered individuals, some of which that still apply today. Discrimination towards the LGBT community is not something new. Although today it may seem normal to see two men holding hands walking down the street, forty years ago it was almost unheard of. This is why the Supreme Court case Baker vs. Nelson made headlines. In 1972, the Court ruled that a Minnesota same sex couple had no constitutional right to marry. This all started when two male University of Minnesota students went to fill out a marriage application form. When the clerk denied the application ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I would rank them in this order; mission success, strategy or structure, accountability or adaptability, and lastly, ladders or rings. The first and most important one is the mission success. The mission of an organization indicates what the firm is doing, to whom and in what context or location. The title of the seminar was Using RNA Interference to Understand the Virulence and Biology of the Yeast Cryptococcus neoformans . At the beginning, she first compared and contrasted the budding yeasts of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Cryptococcus neoformans. According to Dr. Bose in the mini review, A Yeast under Cover: the Capsule of Cryptococcus Neoformans, C. neoformans is a fungus that is ubiquitous in the environment, where it is found in soil, in association with certain trees, and in bird guano (16) (1). Bose stated that her long term goal is to discover better drugs to eradicate this disease from developing in humans. She intends to do this by identifying the genes that are involved in the disease process, and assessing their function. From that point she will attempt to discover or design drugs to inhibit these genes from functioning. There are several factors that affect the virulence of Cryptococcus neoformans; from its polysaccharide capsule, to its ability to grow at high temperatures, and its formation of melanin. The last two factors are absolutely necessary to the pathogenicity of the fungi (1). The Dr. Bose discussed RNA Interference. She said that RNA Interference is used as a tool for forward genetics , and that it selectively destroys specific mRNAs, which in turn creates knock down phenotypes. Forward genetics is the random inactivation of 1 2 genes at a time, allowing for selectivity of the phenotype. At this point, she began to describe the results from running RNA interference on the Cryptococcus neoformans genome. She discovered that there was too much expression of ADE 2, so she developed a stable marker, URA 5. The URA 5 selected for robust RNA Interference. She discovered that the cells that did well with URA 5 would survive treatment with 5 fluororotic acid, and the cells that did poorly with URA 5 would not survive the treatment. She also determined that silencing was RDP1 dependent. RDP1 is a wild type gene. Then she developed a library ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The oil rig Deepwater Horizon, owned by BP, exploded and sank and caused a continued oil leak that released amlost 5 million barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico, the worst oil spill in U.S. history (Biello). In an address delivered inJune of 2010, President Obama called the oil spill the worst environmental disaster America has ever faced (Obama). While this fear seems valid when constructed without context, applying the specifics of the BP oil spill show this line of reasoning to be a slippery slope fallacy. Spending 58 million dollars on one hotel now will not lead to the complete squandering of the rest of the restoration resources simply because, in comparison to the total funds, 58 million dollars is a small sum. When viewed through the everyday experiences of a regular civilian, 58 million dollars is an almost incomprehensible amount of money. However, The Telograph states that BP has spent 28 billion dollars on containment and cleaning efforts and set aside another 20 billion as a compensation fund (Sherwell and Lawler). When set against a total effort of 48 billion dollars that may be contributed from BP alone, 58 million dollars accounts for roughly 0.12% of the potential resources dedicated towards the aftermath of the spill in the Gulf. Given in figures more consistent with the experience of the average person, this is the equivalent of about 60 dollars out of a 50 thousand dollar salary. While an ideological claim could be made that all resources should be used on areas impacted physically and directly, the actual cost of the hotel is too small to be an influence on wide scale decision making for the larger recovery effort ... He was a painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist and stage designer. Picasso was one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, as well as the co founder of Cubism. His creativity, empathy, and mastery in the arts has led him to become such a revolutionary artist. He devoted his life to painting and artistic production for the simple fact of wanting to contribute to modern art in the 20th century. He veered far from the representation and form often seen in traditional art at the time. He depicted five naked women prostitutes in a brothel, but the women were far from realistic. Argumentative Essay On The Internet As technology begins to advance every day it starts to have a large impact on us humans, not only on just our lifestyle but also the way we prefer to receive information. In the novel The Shallows, by Nicholas Carr, he proclaims a biased argument about the internet consequently how it is changing our ability to think logically because we are choosing the easier route to gain knowledge. Additionally, argues that due to Google we lack our critical thinking skills causing less knowledge to be created. The Internet is designed to connect people on a personal and commercial level, on the other hand, Carr rejects that idea, moreover views it as making us individuals more shallow by using the Internet. Despite the benefits the internet has, it is degrading us and we don t even know it. The internet is constantly changing the way our brain works. Additional use of the internet causes our brains to decrease the attention span we have. We were all born with a blank slate of minds with a basic brain structure, though our synaptic (nerve cells) connect accordingly by experience. Cells that fire together wire together. (Carr 27). If animals learn through repetition, us humans might as well. The consistent usage of the internet to receive information quickly makes the human brain have a shorter attention span. Under the observation method, the information is sought by way of investigator s own direct observation without asking from the respondent. Secondly, the information obtained under this method relates to what is currently happening; it is not complicated by either the past behavior or future intentions or attitudes. The vertical integration is used to expand the new operations in the firm. EX: a departmental store previously used to hire trucks and tempos from outside for the transportation of the goods. Now, the store has expanded into new operation, it has purchased its own trucks and tempos which as a result decrements the transportation cost since it does need to pay outsiders for transportation. ... Horizontal integration is better for larger companies rather than small firms, as the companies goodwill is at stake when getting into acquisition merger. It sounds beneficial for economies of scale. It increases its power and business in market sector. It is used in business which are trying to invest in foreign markets. Seeing all the negative and positive aspects, vertical integration is much better and useful than horizontal integration. Vertical integration is more controllable as the expansion is within the firm only. Thus it is less rigorous. The collaboration or merging act can be less controllable as the previous firm is now dependent upon the new merged firm. Trust is the main key in horizontal integration as it can be a loss in case the other merged firm can be fraudulent. In my opinion, vertical integration is best for the workers as it enhances their skills and capabilities by expanding the operations and introducing new operations within the firm. This implies that workers will be able to discover their core capabilities and competencies within the organization, introducing them to new processes may realize their areas of specialization which results in job satisfaction and they will be motivated towards their work, which is better for them as well as the growth of the ... How Did The British Agricultural Revolution Anthony Perez 03 20 2015 Period EF The British Agricultural Revolution The British Agricultural Revolution was a time where agricultural production in England increased due to land productivity and labor. This revolution took place between 1690 and the 1850 s. During this time, there were many developments emerging from this era. Developments included an increase in farm size, land claims, land drains, and development of a national market based on minimal government regulation to name a few. Later in 1786, A Scotsman named Andrew Meikle invented a thrashing machine that was used to separate ears of corn from stalks. The thrashing machine made picking corn ears faster and more efficient, and required a lot less labor. The first machine made in the 19th century was the first ever reaping machine invented by Robert Ransome. The only difference between this invention and the seed drill, was the durability. Robert s reaper was a lot stronger and more efficient. The last invention related to agriculture was the evolution of steam power. Steam power was applied to plowing. The power was fixed to long cable connected to the plows that were then pulled across the farm by a stationary steam engines. Steam power would increase efficiency and productivity unlike the human hand. A farmer could only cut one furrow at once, while the machine can do multiple furrows at ... It is said in Christianity Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. However, the priest does not seem to agree with that statement. The fact of the matter is that death in the wilderness was a sad, yet common thing during this time in Quebec. Therefore, the people did not see it as a big deal; it was more or less a way of life. Unfortunately many people perished in this way. Another example of this is when it was pronounced that François Paradis was lost; everyone basically gave up hope, and simply decided to move on with their lives. On another note, Maria Chapdelaine s mother comes to mind when the words, giving up are used, but in a more positive sense. Maria s mother gave up her wish to live in the city, so she could please her husband. The relationship between mother and daughter is very evident in this novel. It is implied by the priest that Maria has duties in the household and duties as a woman. Elmer Driedger s Argument Analysis In the words of Elmer Driedger (as cited in Boyd, 2015), the words of an Act are to be read in their entire context in their grammatical sense harmoniously with the scheme of the Act, the object of the Act and the intention of Parliament (p. 65). This approach advocates analysis which balances the literal language used with the context of the statute and its intended purpose. This paper will assess the strength Driedger s approach in relation to the cases R. v. Boudreault, Paldi Khalsa Diwan Society v. Cowichan Valley (Regional District), and R. v. Skakun. It will be argued that Driedger s approach is advantageous to the courts in general, but insofar as it is combined with the principle of stare decisis, it is beneficial only when the judgments in precedent setting cases accord with fundamental justice. Driedger s approach stresses that the language of a statute can be insufficient to determine the full intent of the legislature, and so in these cases use of external sources may be necessary ... Prior to the appeal, the chambers judge had found that crematoriums did not fit the given definition of institution, which had explicitly included cemeteries (para. 20). In the Court of Appeal, however, it was determined that the definition contained the word includes to allow for other institutions comparable to those listed. In virtue of this, a crematorium serves a purpose similar to a cemetery for dealing with human remains (para. 43).
