Ivanhoe
In everybody s life there is something that makes him strive for success. That something can be
money, women, fame, or many other incentives.. To the medieval knights, victory renown and
glory are the ambitions they strive for. Breaking a law in this code would be considered a
disgrace, and would bring a dishonor that was worse than death itself. However, by applying the
Code of Chivalry, the knights in the medieval time displayed certain character traits which would
secure success and honor in both battle and morality. In the book Ivanhoe, by Sir Walter Scott, a
knight named Ivanhoe illustrates this by devoting his attention to keeping the rules of the Code of
Chivalry, which consisted of love of adventure, integrity, and loyalty to the... Show more content on

If his home country of England is to lose the battles, he and his country would be disgraced. His
fear of disgrace helps lead him on. Having a fear of disgrace shows the reader that having this
motive can lead one on to success. br br People can learn a lesson not only about glory, but of
bravery also. Besides glory, bravery is used throughout the novel also. An example of this is
when Sir Brian de Bois Guilbert dies for Rebecca. Ivanhoe demonstrates bravery when he fights
Brian to repay Rebecca for her care when he is hurt. He is also very brave when he fights for his
Saxon image. Even though he is not a major character in this book, Robin Hood also shows
bravery. He robs from the rich and gives to the poor which breaks certain parts in the Code of
Chivalry. Through his actions, he fulfills part of the Code. He is brave and has a love of
adventure in doing so, but his integrity and respect to the king is taken by his criminal actions.
People can learn from these examples that sometimes being brave is not pretty. Both Sir Brian
de Bois Guilbert and Robin Hood had to suffer consequences for being brave. br br Bravery is very
important to knights. If they are not brave they are disgraced, which is something they fear the
most. Ivanhoe s motto is Death is better than defeat, this shows his fear of disgrace. Likewise, in
are society there are certain people that are looked at as being a disgrace. br br In society today
there is a fear of disgrace. Becoming a

Miley Cyrus Cultural Appropriation
Miley Cyrus, is an inspiration to many young women all over the world. Due to the flip flopping
of her music, she has helped show a long term cultural problem. Miley Cyrus, 24 year old, singer
songwriter and actress. In 2006, she was recognized as a teen idol when she starred on the Disney
channel television series Hannah Montana. After that, she had a huge downfall, she started using
drugs and behaving lecherously. In 2013, while promoting her fourth album Bangerz her sexually
explicit behavior began, many looked at her in disgust from this point on. Miley Cyrusthen
struggled with her gender identity. In an interview she states, It s weird that I m a girl because I
just don t feel like a girl, and I don t feel like a boy. Cyrus as well as many others identify
themselves as gender neutral. Once cyrus decided to discontinue smoking marijuana, people
began to notice. A December 2016 study indicated the drug use has gone down. I wouldn t
necessarily say she s back to the old Miley just yet, but she s doing better; however, there is still
room for improvement. Miley Cyrus was recently accused of cultural appropriation for hip hop
comments in an interview. In definition, cultural appropriation is the adoption or use of elements
of one culture by members of another culture (Farah). This a horrifying concept because it s often
seen as controversial and strips the group of its identity. Miley Cyrus was accused of cultural
appropriation because she stereotypes hip hop

Differences In A Long Distance Relationship And The Military
Relationships are all about love, happiness, and support. It is also a way of taking the time to
know your significant other in ways that are personal and different than any other type of
relationship that you can have. Being in a military relationship is different than other
relationships, the struggles and not to mention the distance that is faced while being in one.
Waiting for calls, having a time difference and wanting to be held during any bad times can get
frustrating and difficult at times, but just knowing that one day you ll stay and grow old
together can be the strength that can pull you through your weaknesses. Those who are within a
long distance relationship are familiar with about the hardships that are faced. Though the only
difference between being in a long distance relationship and a military long distance relationship
are the struggles of being in one where you don t know when the next time you ll be able to see
your other or even their be time to contact, even just if you ll be able to speak to them. There are
struggles here and there. Some things are taken the wrong way if you re texting them, like there
are instances where I am just asking him a simple question because I m curious and he thinks I m
mad. I d say that the biggest struggle is finding a time when he isn t busy and I m not busy to just
sit down and focus on each other. There is a two hour time difference, so it makes it tough at times,
but I just keep in mind that some

Abrams And Sedition Act Case
During times of political unrest and hysteria, the Court seems to allow for more limits on speech if
simply because the times host more potential for danger. Take the following example as parallel to
Schenck, Abrams, and the circumstances surrounding both. In the 1969 case Brandenburg v. Ohio,
the Court abandoned the clear and present danger test, stating that only speech that produces or is
likely to produce violent actions or illegal behavior can be banned (Cohen 32). The Court argued a
difference between advocacy of ideas and incitement of unlawful conduct exists though the Court
did not define it. During this time, the United Stateswas not concerned with being overthrown by
insurgents or overcome with hysteria like earlier in the century.... Show more content on

The Court, in affirming the judgment of lower courts, deferred to Congress but also redefined
the standard to protect future free speech since the times implied more stringent restrictions on
speech could follow. Had the Court struck down the ruling, Congress would not have the
necessary power to limit speech, and future dangerous speech would go unabated since doing so
would create the rule that Congress cannot limit free speech. Rather than create this rule, the
Court created a new standard by which to measure the ability of Congress to curb free speech on
a case by case basis. This new standard, which more broadly protects free speech, has evolved
over time, as evident in Abrams, Brandenburg, and Holder. The ability to evolve over time and to
apply to different cases in lower courts highlights Holmes idea that rights were established by
society and balanced by the needs of the society, according to blah blah, and thus reflects an
inherent legitimacy. Again, having this standard and the ability to choose to use it or not allows the
Court to reflect the necessities of society, thereby aligning more closely to

My Growing As A Writer
Looking at my past as a writer I would have to say that I am mediocre but I am sure my wife
would think much less when grading my writing. I am not sure I have grown as a writer over the
past few semesters or my understanding of what is expected as grown. Either way writing has
become easier for me, mainly when I have an interest in the subject matter. In the past I would
have been terrified of a ten page paperand even though I would still find longer papers to be a
daunting task I would not be quite as afraid now as then. My writingsince starting at Robert Morris
has grown from the helpful tips provided by a few teachers. Websites to help with proofreading and

Peer Pressure In Shooting An Elephant By George Orwell
Most people believe that others have authority and control over their own actions. However,
contrary to belief, authority controls people s actions. Peer pressure can have an effect on the
decisions people make. In this short story, the policeman (the protagonist) is hated by the
majority of people in the city of Moulmein. He is hated because he is secretly on the Burmese
people s side instead of the British. Along with conflict of the British and Burmese people, an
elephant escapes and causes chaos throughout the city. It is killing people and destroying
buildings. The policeman decides to step in and help, but he is faced with the peer pressure of the
crowd to killan elephant that he has no intention in killing. The protagonist is faced with lying to
other people and regret for his actions. In, Shooting an Elephant George Orwellexplains how the
policeman struggles between the decisions of shooting an elephant to please the authoritarian
crowd that can treat him better and accept him.
When the policeman decides to help the people of Moulmein, in lower Burma, he lets them believe
his gun is going to be used to shoot the elephant, because of the presser the crowd puts on him.
The protagonist struggles throughout life due to the fact that most people despise him. The text
states that, I was hated by large numbers of people the only time in my life that I have been
important enough for this to happen to me, (17). The people have the authority over the hatred
that is directed towards the protagonist. They control if he is accepted or outcasted. The
policeman was looking for a way not to be hated, so he decides to help with chaos that the
elephant has created. He grabs his gun and then is confronted with a crowd that normally would
have no interest in him. For example, They had seen the rifle and were all shouting excitedly that
I was going to shoot the elephant, (19). The magical rifle in his hands makes him seem worth
paying attention to. This is because the policeman can shoot the elephant and give the people what
they want. The protagonist was not intending to shoot the elephant so, he did not tell the crowd
that he was going to use the rifle for protection. This may be because, he was looking for a

My Character, My Voice, And The Plot
NaNoWriMo, which means National Novel Writing Month, has been introduced at my school. The
seventh and eighth grade classes had the honor of trying it out, and I was one of the students that
got to. I have strengths and weaknesses in my novel that determine the characters, my voice, and
the plot. To begin, I would rate my characters in my novelan emerging. One reason, is because my
major, and minor, characters are well explained. My main characterDylan, also known as my
protagonist, is practically explained in every single sentence, except for the beginning of course.
The beginning explains how each of the main supporting characters act, along with the protagonist.
I believe that I explained the supporting characters well enough that... Show more content on

The friend I give it to wouldn t even need to know me well enough to determine that the novel is
mine. It seems as if I am leaving my fingerprint in my novel as I write. Most people know that I
m all against sexistism, and I have proof of that in my novel. I also could be known to have an
old soul, meaning that I don t agree with what a lot of people do in this generation, and I d rather
have it be like old times, which is another point that can be found in my novel. I tend to use grade
level vocabulary when I write almost everything, and people could also find evidence of that in my
novel.
Finally, I would rate the plot in my novel an emerging because of the not very strong climax.
When people think of a climax, they usually expect something like: the dark object inched closer
and closer to me. I had no clue what the mysterious shadow was, but it gave me a bad feeling.
The monster screeched a little, which almost made me fall off the bed. I blink once, and the
creature is two feet closer. I blink once more, and it is five feet closer. I blink, yet again, and the
creature is right up to face. I can literally smell its rotting breath. Sounds about right, correct?
Well my climax, and I quote: I zip down the entrance, but find myself face to face with a bobcat.
Yes, you heard right, a bobcat! I scream probably the loudest I ever have, and the bobcat growls a
bit at me. The big cat even snarls its two sharp, yellow, rows of teeth. I back away as much as I

Why Is Globalization Important In International Trade
Globalisation could be defined as the growth to a global or worldwide scale. Globalisation has
brought a wave of improvement and development in technology and knowledge, also bought a
change to the world. Many fields of knowledge have been affected, the new technologies have been
built and have been shown to the public. As in the other fields, finance is impacted. For example,
financial markets have been established in many counties, local companies have become the
international companies, well known banks have been known in many countries and so on.
Financial advances have also changed the way of international trade, making transaction in
international tradeis more convenient and comfortable than in the past. Buyers and sellers can make
a payment although they are not in the same country, moneyis transferred cross country in a short
time. So, in the international trade context, there are four different ways to transfer money from the
buyer to the seller as advance payment, letters of credit, draft and open account, and in the different
methods have their own risks. So, this essay will evaluate the potential risks which could occur and
will look at what situations is each method commonly used.
Firstly, letter of credit or documentary of credit (L/C) is a famous payment method in international
trade because this method provide a safety to the both of importers and exporters (Paul and Aserkar
2013: 31). It is one of the payments which base on the contract documents. In

The Road To Civil War Essay
Part 1:The Road to Civil War

Israel goes nuts and chases the terrorists out into Syrian held territory. Israel issues an ultimation;
Syria can hand over the terrorists and crease all support or else. Egypt demands UN intervention,
along with Iran and Saudi. IAF aircraft are poking at Syria, threatening the state and Turkey has
declared its support for Israel. Despite a last minute attempt by Thompson to broker a peace, the
latest Arab Israel war breaks out.
Israeli columns advance into Syria, destroying the Syrians with ease, while Turkish forces advance
from the north. After a short war, the nation is occupied, sending shockwaves around the globe.
The only pleased people are the Syrian opposition; the Israelis don t shoot them at random. Despite
that, Israel and Turkey get dragged into a long term insurgency in Syria.
This triggers off yet another uprising in Palestine, supported by some Egyptian troops. (Under
orders? Mutiny? No one knows.) The battles are savage both sides are crying atrocity and Israel
punches through the defences into the Sihni. The UN attempts to convince them to stop, but they
refuse the nerve gas has really hammered the moderates in the Israeli Government. After a week of
savage fighting, Israel has smashed its way to the Suez, forcing Egypt out of the region.
Israel informs the world that it intends to hold onto the region this time, in order to prevent further
treachery.

Advantages Of Discount Brokers
The advent of discount brokers in the Indian market have revolutionized the way trading is done in
India.
Discount brokerages have heavily brought down the cost of trading. This has proven to be a boon
to the traders especially the intraday and the derivatives trades.
Discount brokerages like RKSV and Zerodha have already started hurting the broking industry.
Full service brokers had made a request to market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of
India (SEBI) to impose a minimum slab on the brokerage being charged by discount brokers. This
request was declined, clearing the way for more aggressive competition.
These brokers rely entirely on the online trading platform and technology to keep costs down, while

Getting more profits
Put simply, we are out there to make money in the stock markets. When one goes through the
contract note of the regular brokers, there are huge costs spent on brokerages, taxes and duties.
At a brokerage of Rs.30 on per lot of Option one has to pay a brokerage of around Rs.150 for 5
lots. There are also duties and taxes which increase it to Rs.200.When the same thing is done
through a discount brokerage the brokerage cost is Rs.20 and adding the taxes and duties it come
to Rs.40. There is saving of Rs.150. It directly adds more money to the profits.
2. No need to sacrifice the quality of the execution.
There is no difference between trading through a regular broker and a discount broker. There is still
the old facility of call and trade. There is the new facility of mobile trading and online trading.
3. More high frequency trades
The reduction of brokerage brings down the breakdown even. The intraday brokerage for discount
brokerage is 0.01% or Rs.20, whichever is lower. So, in small trades, when a trader buys at 100.01
and sells at 100.05, he still makes profit. In large trades, the advantage is even more as the
brokerage is even less due to the Rs.20 cap. This reduction of breakeven point enables a trader to do

Difference Between Market Economy And Mixed Economy
In order for a country to run, it needs to sustain a stable economy. A country can choose one of the
three economies; Market economy, Planned economy, and Mixed economy. Market economy is
primarily based on supply and demand and is described as a shift right on the economic spectrum.
As well, resources are privately owned by businesses rather than the government. Market economy
is primarily controlled by the consumers who drive the economic decision making with little
government involvement. Words such as Individualism and Capitalism can be used to describe
Market Economy. However, no country can ever be a 100% market economy even though countries
such as The United States of America are extremely far right on the economic spectrum. Planned
Economyis primarily controlled and managed by the government with little intervention from the
consumers and is described as a shift left on the economic spectrum. Also, in a planned economy,
the government makes decisions regarding scarcity and also finds solutions on how to terminate it
by varying the production, distribution, and consumption of products. Collectivism can also be
used to describe Planned Economies. However, similarly to market economies, no country can ever
be 100% Planned Economy even though countries such as North Korea fall extremely far left on
the economic spectrum. A mixture of both these economies would be described as a mixed
economy and it would be placed centrally on the economic spectrum. Resources are

Five Steps In The Departure Of The Hero s Quest
There are five steps in the Departure of the Hero s Quest. The first step of the Departure is The
Call to Adventure. This is the point in the character s life when he realizes he is going to have to
go on the Hero Quest. Beowulf experienced The Call to Adventure when he realized what Grendel
was doing to Heorot, and he felt obligated to help King Hrothgar because he is his father s friend.
The second step of the Departure is the Refusal of the Call. The Refusal of the Call is when the
hero first refuses the call because of fear, insecurity, etc. This step is not included in Beowulf. I think
the author chose to omit this step because he wanted Beowulf to seem as heroic as possible,
without refusing the quest. The third step of the Departure is the Supernatural Aid.... Show more

This step was not included in Beowulf. I think the author chose to omit this step because he wanted
to portray Beowulf as a courageous man that doesn t need supernatural help to complete the quest.
The Crossing of the First Threshold is the fourth step of the Departure. This is the part where the
hero crosses into the field of the quest, where he s venturing into an unknown kingdom. This doesn
t occur much in the first part of Beowulf s quest with the fight with Grendel. However, it occurs
when Beowulf decides to find Grendel s mother and goes into the marshes where she lives. The
fifth step of the Departure is The Belly of the Whale. This is when the hero s known world and
self is separated. This occurs in Beowulf when Beowulf decides to fight the dragon. He knew he
had to fight the dragon to keep his people safe, but he had a feeling that this would be the last
battle he fought. Beowulf still decided to fight the dragon, even though it could have been his last

Are Lions Born In Captivity
Most people think wild lions are living a care free live, with plenty of meals and space to roam
around in. Sadly, that s not true. Most of the lions in South Africa are born in captivity and
never get to see open grassy fields, like most people think they do. The lions of Tsavo were more
than man eating beasts. According to the article, the two famous lions of Tsavo are very well
known in the African city named Mombasa. It all started when Colonel Patterson, ( Patterson for
short ) came to this fresh and green town. He came here to build a 660 mile long rail road. He
had for a very important job, to lead the men ( about 4,000 of them ) through a snake habitat

While most people believe that most lions roam around and have a care free life, that is not the
truth. Lions are born in captivity. Raised in petting farms until they get to old. Then what happens?
Most people think they can just let the lion go and everything will be ok. But lions don t know how
to hunt if there born in captivity. Lions all around South Africaare dying because of this issue.
Also, lion petting farms are causing lions to over populated. Which means more and more lions
are born into captivity. Lion petting farms take lions from the wild, or ones that have been in
captivity and breed them to make Cubs. When there Cubs, the baby lions are used for the

The Destruction Of The Sun Bear
Humans like bears. A lot of people love them. However, some of these bears are in serious danger.
These cute, cuddly things are hunted and exploited for a plethora of reasons, many of these
reasons being wrong. Grizzly Bears, Black Bears, Brown Bears, and Polar Bears are some of the
different bears that exist in our world today. A lot of bears
, like the Black Bearand Polar Bear, are
endangered and are threatened by extinction. One bear that is threatened by extinction is the Sun
Bear. The Sun Bear lives in the tropical forests of Southeastern Asia. They can be identified by
their letter shaped orange fur on their neck, their black fur everywhere else, and their long
tongues that stretch far down their body. Sun Bears are vulnerable to hurt and extinction due to
multiple reasons. One is palm oil plantations. Palm oil plantations are one of the main problems
that is on Sun Bears, leading to other problems Sun Bears are victim to, the biggest one being
habitat loss. Palm oil is in high demand due to the substance being used in almost everything. In
Malaysia alone, the price of Palm Oil, as of 2013 to 2017, has ranged from around 960 to 500 USD.
In total, tens of millions of tons of palm oil is made yearly, accounting for over 30% of the world

household products in many developing countries like Australia. Palm oil can be present in a wide

The Equal Opportunity Refinance Initiative
Foreclosure is a dangerous issue that has swept our nation in the last few years. Americans are
losing their homes due to jobs being lost, home values falling, and banks lending out more money
than homeowners can afford. Despite the multitude of issues that arise out of foreclosure, the main
problem at hand can be almost solely traced to the economy. The recession has put many people
out of work, made taking out loans more difficult, and has caused a nationwide panic. Therefore, to
completely solve the foreclosureproblem, it is necessary to trace the issue back to its roots, being
the economy. This would take fifty pages to discuss, so this paper seeks to solve one aspect of
foreclosure. Refinancing is an option that has become... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since this paper only touches upon the basics of this plan, it will only explain three priority
groups (keeping in mind that various subgroups can be created for a broader variety of situations).
The highest priority group (Group A) must meet the requirements that follow. Homes must have
been bought before January 1st, 2009, and the loans must have been financed by Fannie Mae or
Freddie Mac. Borrowers must be current on their payments, and must not have missed a payment
for one year before requesting the refinance. The group with the second highest priority (Group B)
could have purchased their home either before or after January 1st, 2009. However, if the loan was
taken out after the date, residents must wait one year (with no missed payments) to apply. Those
who qualify for Group B must not have any delinquencies yet, but they can have missed two
payments at the most. Therefore, while they do not have to be current on their payments, if they
exceed missing two payments, resulting in a delinquency, they must be eligible for Group C.
This lower priority group must have a delinquency, before or after the bank starts the process of
foreclosure. This group would need to be behind on their payments, missing at least three. While
all of these groups are eligible for a refinance, Group A will be able to refinance for the greatest
volume of customers at the highest loan

Indian Country Today (1997) are created by different authors, possible for different reasons, but
they have a similar subject matter. They both picture nature. Bierstadt s painting shows the
landscape of the Rocky Mountains, hence the name. Pictured are rolling valleys, rugged mountains,
and what looks like a civilization of Native Americans. On the other hand, Bradley s painting is an
example of how modern India is viewed through his eyes. Instead of beautiful hills and mountains,

Bierstadt uses gradient features of color in his painting. He has lighter colors in the back of his
painting and darker colors in the front. This allows the painting to be subtle and aid viewers in
realizing the subject matter. Bradley, unlike Bierstadt, uses variety in his work of art. His
painting is made up of high intensity. He uses vivid colors and even shapes to express the
subject matter. The different colors used catches the eyes of those who view it. The artists chose
excellent colors to go with their paintings. Interpret: Bierstadt s painting shows the Rocky
Mountains in the 1800 s. The beautiful scenery expresses how stunning the world was during that
time. There were waterfalls, tee pees, and sprouting trees. The Earth has been bruised and beaten.
The scenery illustrated in this painting is rare. However, Bradley s painting seems to show what
landscapes are like presently even if it was created in the late 1900 s. The construction, the
entertainment by the dancers express that Bradley believes that India is more of a tourist spot now.
It is not appreciated for its beauty anymore. People come to watch the traditional dances, not

The Impact Of Facebook On Citizen Engagement
on the power that social media sites possess on citizen engagement. However, a study done in 2011
examined the usefulness of Facebook pages as a way to connect citizens with each other (many to
many) for policy input versus the utilization of those social media sites to transmit to and receive
from governmentto citizens (one to many) in a more authoritative manner . The study was done to
examine the use of Facebook to maintain power relations and inform citizens about their views
rather than using the platform for the soft of connectivity for which it was intended: that is flat,
egalitarian networked communications or even iterated and critical feedback exchanges .
Results are promising to better the future link for citizen engagement. Social media can be the
resource used to increase interaction between government and citizens. Today this form of
social media communication is on a rise and is becoming an accepted part of everyday life. By
establishing a right kind of respect and privacy this tool will replace the old with the new and

media may appear to be the missing link between government and citizen interaction, it may have a

Raymond Carver: The Man Behind the Stories The story of award winning author, Raymond
Carver, is as detailed and intricate as the stories he wrote. He was born in Oregon in 1938. His
father was a sawmill worker. He married one year out of high school and had two children. He
worked various jobs to support his small family and in the late 1960s and throughout the 1970s
he began drinking heavily. When he got his drinking problem under control, he began to teach at
the University of Texas at El Paso and Syracuse University. He went on to win a literary award in

Sophocles Antigone Analysis
Sophocles was born 498 BC in Colonus near Athens, Greece. His father, Sophillus was a wealthy
weapons maker and a leading citizen. Both birth and wealth, then, set Sophocles apart as
someone likely to play an important role in Athenian society. When Sophocles was six years
old, the Athenians beat the Persians at Salamis. Sophocles did not fight but he saw his house
and all of Athens, including the Parthenon, burned by the Persians before the Athenians beat
them. At 16 due to his youth, good looks, and performing ability, he was picked to a paean
(choral chant) about the victory of the Battle of Salamis. The production involved singing,
dancing, and playing the lyre. Like other Greek boys from wealthy families, Sophocles studied
poetry, music, dancing, and gymnastics subjects regarded as the basis of a well rounded
education for a citizen. His early schooling prepared him to serve as a leader in all aspects of
public life, including the military, foreign policy, and the arts. Sophocles wrote about 120 plays.
Sophocles soon became best known as a dramatist. In 468 B.C.E. his tetralogy, or set of four plays,

Nietzsche s Morals
In 1887, philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche had written a collection of essays entitled The
Genealogy of Morals. Nietzsche ideas was an inscribed assessment based upon ethical principles.
Nietzsche analyzes the connections and significance of the contrasting moral concepts in a
distinctive section where he elaborates on the good and the bad as well as the good and evil, by
expressing his thoughts on slave moralitythat was created by the Jews.
In the beginning, Nietzsche states that the priest is worthless and that they learn to hate. The priest
hatred is powerful that it causes them to be destructive and it is known throughout history.
Nietzsche compares the Jews to the priest caste who were the most hated in human history. The
Jews somehow managed to reverse the moral assessments associating themselves as good but, the
powerful nobles will be known as evil and damned for eternity. However, Nietzsche said, It was the
Jews who started the slave revolt in morals (445)
In the following section, Nietzsche explains that the reassessment of values effected by the Jews
was occurring and that they were not noticeable. One of their achievements was the development of
the religious teachings Christianity. He states that the Christian love violated the Jewish hatred and
that the representation of Jesus and his crucifixion was the persuasion of the moral code. The
embodiment and crucifixion of Jesus showed that annulment of the moral code, was once good

Animal Testing And Its Effects On The Poor Treatment Of...
An increasing number of activists believe that animals have rights. However, this idea is
somewhat controversial because animal activists look down upon the poor treatment of animals.
They have a fear that animal testing is causing abuse and suffering to the helpless animals. Animal
testing is a fairly serious matter because of all of the malfunctions and harm that leads to animal
suffrage. The types of animals being used, such as rats, mice, rabbits, and chips are selected
specifically for the test that is being performed. The outcomes of the test, depends on which animal
is being tested and what it is being examined for. Common tests being used on animals include,
medicinefor humandiseases, cosmetic products and their reactions, and students in training utilizing
animals in educational laboratories. Many different types of species are used for testing and
experimentation, but the most common types are mice, rats, rabbits, and chimpanzees. Rodents
such as rats and mice are commonly used for testing products for many reasons, one being their
frequent reproduction. Mice and rats are mammals with nervous systems similar to our own
therefore, they are tested and given cancer, tumors, paralysis, and high levels of anxiety and
depression in their immune systems. Rabbits are often used in animal testingand experiments
because of their mild temperament and they are easy to handle. They are used in cruel chemical test

Endless Love Analysis
Endless Love is about a boy named David who has had an eye on Jade since the first time he saw
her in the tenth grade. Until after their high school graduation, David has never spoken to her
until her family pulls up to the restaurant, where David works as a valet. The movie feels like
Nicholas Sparks fan fiction as David, who has no plans beyond valeting at the local country club
and working as a mechanic in his dad s shop, falls for Jade, that is bound for college and a summer
internship. Jade and David fall madly in love, but as her parents try to bring their relationship to a
halt, their love only grows stronger. Sparks fly instantly and the two become inseparable for the
rest of the summer, to the undeniable disapproval of Jade s father. His overprotectiveness comes
from his grief over the loss of Jade s superstar older brother a few years back, he can t imagine the
thought of losing his daughter as well. And looking back, David might have reminded the father of
his lost son. This is supposed to be a film about the agony of teenage first love, but it s awfully
tasteful and emotionally detached in its blissed out depiction.
The main downfall of this movie is that the movie is being supportive of teeenagers being young
and dumb; through scenes of violence, sex and nudity, and drugs and alcohol. For a movie that
was directed more towards a younger crowd, it s very extreme and rather endless .
The sexual content in this pg 13 movie was exaggerated. Throughout the

Children, Adolescents Psychotropic Medication Essays
Psychotropic medications, also referred to as psychiatric or psychotherapeutic medications, are used
to treat psychiatric disorders, such as: depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, anxiety disorders,
and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). They have been used for many years and
oftentimes come with dangerous side effects. The side effects that often occur in children taking
these medications can include: fainting, blurred vision, vomiting, extreme weight gain, and even
death ( Seroquel information, n.d.). The use of psychotropic medication to treat mental disorders in
children and adolescents is highly controversial because of ethical viewpoints (i.e. parents drugging

If left untreated, however, kids (can) become alienated from family and peers, flunk out of school,
commit crimes, (and) maybe even land in prison. (Littell, n.d.) One of the greatest concerns of
psychotropic drug use in children and adolescents is that this type of medication is overprescribed.
According to a report by the Food and Drug Administration, as of September 2009, more than
500,000 children and adolescents in America are now taking antipsychotic drugs. (Wilson, 2010)
500,000 is definitely a large number, but considering the fact that approximately one in ten
children in the United States suffer from various mental illnesses, this number is actually quite
low. The main reason people believe this medication is overprescribed is because many parents
are simply looking for an easy way to quell their child s hyperactivity. Families sometimes feel the
need for a quick fix, Dr. Gleason said. That s often the prescription pad. But I m concerned that
when a child sees someone who prescribes but doesn t do therapy, they re closing the door that can
make longer lasting change. (Wilson, 2010) Another concern regarding psychotropic drug use in
children is the ethical

Throughout this section I will be explaining the connection between the eruption of the Tambora
Volcano and the literature and art of the time. One of the major pieces of gothic literature at the
time was the book Frankenstein written by Mary Shelley. In the article The Volcano that Shrouded
the Earth and Gave Birth to a Monster written by Gillen D Arcy Wood the author states Mary
Shelley s storm lashed novel Frankenstein bears the imprint of the Tambora summer of 1816, and
her literary coterie which included the poets Percy Shelley and Lord Byron serve as tour guides

and the year without summer that the eruption caused. The novel was written during a time of

connection is evident in the novel, where in the introduction she wrote it had been a wet, ungenial

Reaction Paper About Mermaids
Mermaids those half human, half fish sirens of the ocean are fabulous ocean animals recorded
on oceanic societies since time immemorial. The name comes from mer meaning sea, and the

the Mermaids topic has raised a lot of conflicts and questions. People wondered how such a
creature could be real. A lot of Researches were made, a lot of fossils were observed, in order to

The most prevalent myth was that Mermaids attract sailors by their beautiful voice, and when
sailors arrive, they face their destinies. In other words, they can be carriers of terrible fortune,
capable of causing storms and slaughtering people. However, some Greek myths described
Mermaids as helpful to everyone; when they were in a decent state of mind, they would safeguard
people. In a silvery cave, live the golden haired Nereids or sea nymphs that helped sailors fighting
perilous storms. (A mermaid and a magic comb)
Moreover, mermaids are too frequently said to be able to love humans after which they set out to
discover a cure to get freed of their fish tail for legs.
But does Mermaids really exist?
Ichthyologist made a lot of researches on Mermaids, including looking at fossils and sea history.
They found no evidence of aquatic humanoids. They added that what sailors saw was probably the
Mentees creature , which has the same size of humans. No one has ever captured a Mermaid. . In
addition, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration posted a statement on its website
denouncing the supposed existence of the half human, half fish beings. No evidence of aquatic
humanoids has ever been found.

Advantages Of Economic Profit
1.0INTRODUCTION
In finance, the proposed objective of the firm is the maximisation of economic profit. This
maximising objective is expressed in terms of the market value of the firm s shares. These notions
should not be confused with accounting profit which usually attempts to match periodic revenues
and expenses as well as other concepts. As a result, accounting profit is somewhat arbitrary and fails
to take account of all factors which affect shareholders wealth.
The discussion on the forms of corporate organisations revealed that, there are a number of
advantages that investors and owners derive. What business firms are seeking to achieve and
therefore what investment and financing decisions should seek to promote is a question central to
business finance and one which has attracted considerable discussion as the subject has developed

However, maximization of profit is far too broad a definition of what is likely to be beneficial to
shareholders.
2.1Why is profit maximisation not the best operational goal?
Emery and Finnerty (1997) posit three important reasons why profit maximization is not the best
operational goal. First, profit maximization is vague. Profit has many different definitions. Do we
mean accounting profits (based on book values) or economic profit (based on market value and
beyond a fair return)?
Secondly, profit maximization ignores differences in when we get the money. Profit maximization
does not distinguish between getting a cedi today and getting a cedi in the future, such as a year
from today.
Third, profit maximization ignores risk differences between alternatives. When given a choice
between two alternatives that have the same return but different risk, most people choose the less
risky one. This makes the less risky alternative more valuable. Profit maximisation ignores such
differences in

fetal movement before birth resulting in joint contractures. The exact cause of the disorder is still
unknown. The extrinsic factors include decreased intrauterine movement, oligohydramnios, defects
in fetal blood supply, hyperthermia, or viral infections. Intrinsic factors include defects in muscle
and connective tissue as well as neurological abnormalities.
Pathophysiology: Some theories are due to gene mutations, which can be missense mutations where
the mutation leads to a different amino acid, or single gene defects. Other theories are due to
mitochondria and chromosome defects. Muscle and connective tissue disorders are usually due to
abnormal function of the dystrophin glycoprotein associated complex in the sarcolemma of skeletal

Causes Of The Red Scare
Fearing Control Would you want to live in a society where you didn t have any freedom, and
were being controlled by your government? Americans in the late 1940 s to late 1950 s certainly
didn t. Their government wanted to control the possessions people had and how they acted
politically, economically, and socially in their everyday lives. The Americans worried about this
state of having no freedom. This created a fear that spread all over the United States, called the Red
Scare. During the Red Scare, people worried about communismbecoming part of the U.S. and
feared the influencers that fueled it to become a countrywide panic. What is The Red Scare? The
Red Scare is fear resulting from communists wanting to control citizens. From 1919 to 1921, The
First Red Scare occurred in which Americans feared the Soviet Union s idea of communism
spreading to The United States. After this panic was resolved, there was another epidemic of fear
called The Second Red Scare. This lasted from 1947 to 1957 and was driven by the panic of
communism growing and spreading in The United States. The Second Red Scare was perpetuated
by international events and dismay such as the Korean War and fear of the Soviet Union s nuclear
weapon capabilities. From this, the House Un American Activities Committee was formed. The
committee s purpose was to investigate alleged communists and infiltrators within the government,
subcommittees, and Hollywood. Americans also felt the effects of the Red

Modern Essay Arab and Israeli Conflict
The Middle Eastern area has experienced and suffered more conflict and blood shed than
probably any part of the world. The Arab Israeli war in 1948 was the first step of a century of
bloody and hostile conflicts. The Arab Israeli war was caused by a number of factors both
intraregional and international, which created a catalyst of war through a complex situation. This
was triggered by Israel s independence declaration in 14 May 1948; in the Arab Israeli war the
victor was Israel. During this essay the following will be discussed: Zionism, Arab nationalism, and
British foreign policy these I believe are the three key causes of the 1948 war. The reason for

Furthermore the idea that anti Semitism could only be overcome by physical separation from
Europe and by self determination (Schulze 1999, p. 1) is what is believed to have made Zionism
so popular in the first place. The religious and cultural background to the Land of Israel made
Palestine the most logical territorial claim and was perceived as the only viable and permanent
solution to the problem of the Jews. This idea of Zionism advertised the belief that Jews were
given Palestine by God himself that is was their right and this fuelled their fight in pursuing their
God given right. Meanwhile, with news of Hitler and the holocaust in Europe beginning to spread,
this event only generated an intense determination to create a Jewish state. But with the Palestinian
leadership actively supporting the Nazis during WWII it had created more conflict between the
Arabs and Jews. Without the Jews flocking from Europe because of the Holocaust and the idea of
Zionism, Arab Israeli conflicts may never have occurred to such an extremist level. As the Jews
perhaps would have not had enough organisation and support to fight back against the Arabs and
the desperate desire to create a Jewish state with nothing to lose.

Walking In The City Analysis
The desire for a Utopian city is not a surprising aspiration. While in an ideal world cities could be
plotted and planned out perfectly, the readings from this week explore why this is not productive to
attempt in society, and also discuss the problems with city planning and government policies. While
the readings do not necessarily complement each other entirely, they all appear to be speaking for
the same message. The rigorous structure and planning, whether by cityplanners or government
organizations, is toxic to urban life, as it has aided racial segregation, disrupted the natural flow
and security of city dwellers, and created a divided metropolis (Sugrue). The reading from Kenneth

Jacobs condemns the Monotony, sterility, and vulgarity of current urban structuring and well

city planning involving set structures and pretended order disrupts this essential social format.

The Cause Of Racism Strengthens The Word Community
Racism stops the word community in its tracks. It is a weak and cowardly mindset, with obvious
and atrocious effects. It prevents the incorporation of other cultures that could positively benefit
native cultures. Racism incites hatred and fear, and breeds violence. The word racism means
prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different racebased on the
belief that one s own race is superior. It s the type of controversy that, when mentioned, generates
bated breath and a tense feeling. Racismis, at its best, disgusting. With that in mind, however, the
question remains, why would anyone ever harbor such feelings? The causes of racism can be
unclear, but it is widely accepted that discrimination of those of different races stem from the
fear of loss and displacement, ignorance, and a desire to feel superior. The fear of loss and
displacement is a common reason for racism. One who has a fear of the experiencing loss can
strive to latch onto someone or something to blame when loss occurs. This fear and anger is often
directed to someone out of one s comfort zone, which can be an individual or group from a
different place, a different religion, a different gender, or, in many cases, someone... Show more

uncontrollable fear of loss and displacement, ignorance, and a desire to be superior, it seems that
there will always be some measure of racism in today s world and minds. It is each individual s

Mademoiselle Reisz enlightened Edna on the idea that a bird who rises above the societal
norms they were faces with must have strong wings or else it will fall back down. This bird with
strong wings symbolizes the way in which Edna felt following her first swim. She felt
invincible, and she felt as if she could accomplish anything she set her mind to even if it was
unheard of during the late 1800s. However, the advice Mademoiselle Reisz offered Edna
unfortunately was used as a foreshadow for what was to come. The bird, Edna s emotions and

realized her chances at love were over. Not too long afterwards, Edna headed to swim one last

chose to have the independence she fought for so long for, and she decided to end her life in the
pit of all of the depression. She refused to allow anything else to be taken away. This emotional hill
of rising and falling only demonstrates further all of the indifference Edna had to endure. The

The Failure Of The Treaty Of Versailles
The failure of the Treaty of Versailles in the United States Senate was due to both the opposition of
the treaty in liberal and conservative forces, as well as Woodrow Wilson s stubbornness and
incompetence when deciding the final version of the treaty with imperialism, German restrictions,
and the League of Nations. As World War I
began with the assassination of Archduke Franz
Ferdinand, igniting a conflict between Serbia and Austria Hungary that snowballed into a war with
Great Britain, France, and Russia against Germany, Austria Hungary and Italy. When the war was
over, the Treaty of Versailles
needed to be discussed between the Great Britain, France, Italy, and the
United States. The European demands from the war were fueled by revenge, and their imperialism
countered Wilson s apparent morality. Although isolationists and Republicans desired to influence
the treaty, Wilson had accepted the European demands, and even after altering the treaty for
European gain, he disallowed the treaty from passing twice in the Senate after Henry Cabot Lodge
added reservations. Wilson s influence on the Senate and the Treaty of Versailles led to its defeat in
the United States and ultimately the US absence in the League of Nations. The opposition of the
Treaty of Versailles rose when the European nations contradicted America s values of isolationism
and moral idealism, with various groups in the United States questioning the treaty and its lenience

Common Law And Equity Laws
Common Law and Equity
Introduction
During the 12th and 13th century, under the common law system of England survey undertaken on
tradition, custom and law in the area was originally developed as court decisions. England, the
common law and equity laws are developed after the creation of the common law; the analysis
based on justice launched and is now used in the royal courts. This gives us the story of the day
capital in 1066 as the winner attacked in England and concluded that there is no common law
system, but the local court system. It is called the power of traditional dishes such as Shires,

This procedure, called Equity, develops from the sixteenth century and is characterized by the
creation of special courts to make judgments royal and the development and writing of an important
precedent.
Both systems, Common Law and Equity, will live together until 1875 when the distinction will be
abolished. The main consequence is the existence, even today, two major legal systems: the English
system of common law and equity in use in the United States and Commonwealth countries and the
continental system based on the Napoleonic Code in other European countries and in all their
colonies.
Common Law and the development of measures
For years, these two structures common law and the functioning of the equity side and front
were. In 1615, in each case, it was determined that we should do in case of dispute. Over time,
even after years of antipathy between the two systems was continued for centuries. In 1865, after
the restoration of the system of English law, it was decided in the case of divergence between the
common law and equity, justice must prevail. Form, the Supreme Court, the laws of justice (1873
1975) established principles for managing a hybrid legal system of courts and courts of equity of
the common law and equity. Accordingly, the Court is now not only the court or the court of equity,
which is now a court with universal jurisdiction.

Essay on Prion Diseases
Prion Diseases
Abstract
Transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs) are neurodegenerative diseases that are thought
to be caused by the misfolding of prion proteins. Prions are able to replicate in the absence of
nucleic acids. TSEs include: scrapie, bovine spongiform encephalopathy, Creutzfeldt Jakob disease,
kuru, Gerstmann Straussler Scheinker disease, and Fatal Familial Insomnia. They can affect many
different animals, including humans. Currently, there are no ways to diagnose, treat, or cure TSEs,
as much more research is needed before these diseases are completely understood.
1. Overview
Prions are a type of protein found naturally in the brain and other regions of the central nervous
system. The diseases associated with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

2. The Prion Protein and Its Function
The prion protein (PrP) is unusual in that it has two stable isoforms. The cellular or normal form
of the prion protein is termed PrPC, while the disease form is termed PrPSC. Sharing the same
sequence of amino acids, or primary structure, PrPC and PrPSC differ in their secondary,
tertiary, and quaternary structures. The normal prion protein has N and C terminals, three alpha
helices, and two beta sheets (Soto, 2006, 40). Its function is still not completely understood.
However, scientists have found evidence that point to various possibilities. 1) Because most
PrPC are located in lipid rafts, membrane structures involved in signaling, it is suggested that
PrPC may also be a mediator in neuroprotective signaling pathways. 2) Interaction between PrPC
and Bcl 2, a ligand involved in protecting neurons from apoptosis, suggests the possibility that
PrPC may be an antiapoptotic protein. 3) PrPC has also been linked to copper metabolism in the
brain. In one particular study, PrP knockout mice, or mice that were genetically altered to not
express PrP, were found to have lower levels of copper in their brains and higher levels in their
serum (Soto, 2006, 42). However, in other studies with PrP knockout mice, most of the animals did
not display any obvious disorders, and those that did were found to have been affected by the
increase in concentration of another protein known as doppel.

Generally, the Mining refers to extraction of materials from earth by artificial methods. As
considering to the several decades minerals are the central to our modern base life. They are
essential to produce materials for construction and manufacturing i.e. steel and cement cannot be
made without cooking coal. Metals are used to make the smart phones, computers and televisions we
use every day. The use of diamonds in jewellery remains a near universal symbol of wealth and
prestige. However, mining point to the environmental impacts of extracting and using non
renewable resources like coal, the economic distortion that results from one part of the economy
booming while the risks to communities that live near large or multiple mining projects as strong
reasons why mining should be curtailed or even stopped. At present Australia is one of leading

The Seven Year Itch Analysis
On February 25th I attended Valencia s theater production of The Seven Year Itch. It took place
at Valencia s East campus in the Black Box theater. It started at 7:30pm and lasted about two
hours with a fifth teen minute intermission. I selected this event because it was a requirement for
my intro to theater class, and also I enjoy theater. I brought with me notes and paper so I could
write down my thoughts on it. It ended up being too dark and I used my phone instead. I tried to
keep what it was exactly about out of my mind. I wanted to go into it with an open mind. The
lightening evoked flask backs. I personally enjoyed how the lighting was done. I could clearly
separate from what was current and what was in the character past or thoughts.

Pros And Cons Of Peaceful Resistance
Peaceful resistance has been around for ages and has served for a way for people to achieve goals
like social change through the practice of nonviolence. Peaceful resistance has gained much
attention in both the past and present, causing others to ponder as to whether such resistance either
benefits or harms a free society. There are compelling arguments for both sides, though the
argument that peaceful resistance positively impacts society stands to be the most persuasive.
Nonviolent resistancebenefits a free society because it serves as a method for defeating
oppressive regimes and societal norms, it allows powerful leaders to emerge to unite people under
one cause, and it facilitates the establishment of lasting democracies. Peaceful resistance has
proved to be a way for people to overthrow oppressive regimes and societal norms. This can be
seen by Mahatma Gandhi s strikes and other actions of nonviolent resistance against the British

An important example of this emerged from the civil rights movements led by Dr. Martin Luther
King Jr. King strongly believed in the nonviolence. He was able to unite people under one idea:
civil rights for African Americans. Because of this, new ideas on how to approach the
movements were fostered, and old ideas were improved. People were able to know they were
not alone in their struggle, allowing hope to be restored. If a powerful leader such as King had
not emerged, nothing would have changed; African Americans would still be treated as second
class citizens. People have to follow under a leader like King in order to develop an efficient plan
to target the problems plaguing their lives. Furthermore, King s ideas on nonviolence appealed to a
variety of age groups; violent movements require stamina that people older in age do not have,
while nonviolent movements only require those to voice their

Stress Of Stress In Nursing
With the high demand of medical professionals and increasing numbers of people with chronic
diseased, there might be a time where one nurse have to over see more patients than normal. Taking
care of extra patients than normal might bring some work burnout and prevent nursing
professionals from performing their job effectively. A study was done to measure the stress
level of
nurses working on the oncology department and the effect of stress leading the nurses to consider
looking for job in other departments. It was found that 35% of the nurses were experiencing
emotional stress and 17 % were depersonalized which then resulted in considering for other
opportunities in less stressful departments (Davis S, Lind BK, Sorensen C, 2013). Stress can be
experience from many factors such as death of a patient, patient s family history, severity of patient
s health condition, and emotional attachment with patients. As a nursing professional, one have to
witness devastating situations such as death of loved ones. It has been found that death and close
relationship with patients and working environment are the main factors causing stress among
nurses (Pavlos S et. al, 2016). Despite the fact that nursing professionals have to go through many
stressful situations at work and may be in their personal life, how much attentive can they be while
performing their nursing duties?
It requires a lot of positive attitude and strong personality to be able to perform nursing duties

Sully Movie Analysis
Background and Plot Summary
Sully is a film based on the true event of the 2009 crash landing of US Airways flight 1549. The
film, directed by Clint Eastwood, details the entire true story as told by Captain Chesley Sully
Sullenberger, who piloted flight 1549. Sullenberger (the main character who is the basis for the
current analysis) was played by Tom Hanks. The film details everything from the initial bird strike,
the root cause of the crash, to the hearings held by the National Transportation Safety Board (more
commonly known as the NTSB). These hearing were to discuss the actions of Sullenberger and his
First Officer on the day of the crash. These hearings lasted months; and the film gave the audience
an inside look at what Sullenberger ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Often, a person in an immensely stressful event denies it ever happened. Sidestep: this was the
case for several of the passengers on the flight as depicted in the film. One could obviously tell
from the film that Sullenberger has accepted that his plane had indeed crashed. Sullenberger, even
when alone to himself, never denied that the crash had occurred. Perhaps this was because of his
resilience. Whatever the case may be, acceptance, as it was depicted in the film, was one of
Sullenberger s biggest strengths related to adjustment. It is also essential to mention that
Sullenberger used positive coping mechanisms to cope with the residual stress of the hearings, and
the crash itself. These will be looked at a little later, but should be, nonetheless, a considered a
considerable adjustment

A Report On New Zealand Essay
Background Overview New Zealand is an island country with a population of 4.4 million.
Auckland is the country s largest city with a population of 1.4 million people. It is one of the
fastest growing cities in Asia Pacific, the on going population growth in the region will
continuously generate economic growth over the short /medium term. Statistics suggest that
Auckland requires between 9000 and 11000 new dwellings every year to meet the latent demand
due to population growth. Auckland has a particularly significant issue on housing affordability
because land supply is tightly confined by a strict urban/rural boundary, development rules and
consents are restrictive, and immigrants (inward and external) are attracted to the jobs and natural
amenities in the region. Rapidly rising rates of house price inflation have been reflective of a
demand supply imbalance. 1.Introduction Auckland is New Zealand s largest residential property
market. There has been a physical shortage of houses, particularly in Auckland. Strengthening
economic growth and migration inflows as well as loose credit conditions multiplied demand in
construction sector. More recently, the Official Cash Rate (OCR) has been increased from 2.5
percent to 3 percent for the purpose of preventing general inflation pressures in the broader
economy. Housing supply conditions have also started to improve with a recovery in residential
construction, centred in Auckland. These factors are all working to reduce the

Morrison Distortion
Morrison captivates the audience and communicates the enduring effects of slavery on the African
American community through the distortion of time through the constantly changing setting.
Throughout the novel, Morrison constantly changes the setting and alters the natural order of
time. When Paul D first arrives at 124, Sethe says to Paul D, You can t leave right away Paul D.
(Morrison 8) Reminding Sethe of the past, Paul D replies, Well, long enough to see Baby Suggs,
anyway. Where is she? (Morrison 8) Answering Paul D s question, Sethe replies, Dead. (Morrison

In the beginning of the novel, Beloved is a character that appears one day resting on a tree trunk
and is seemingly without a backstory. It becomes apparent that Beloved is in fact the spirit of
one of Sethe s dead children because Morrison writes, But once Sethe had seen the scar...Sethe
played all the harder with Beloved, who never got enough of anything: lullabies, new stitches,
the bottom of the cake bowl... (Morrison 282). Sethe realizes that Beloved is the reincarnation
of daughter because the scar that Beloved has is the result of Sethe killing her children.
Furthermore, Sethe spoils Beloved with as much motherly love as possible in order to make up
for killing her. Therefore, Beloved personifies the past because she is the literal embodiment of
Sethe s daughter s spirit coming to life. However, not only does Beloved embody the spirit of
Sethe s dead child Beloved also embodies the psychological trauma of Sethe s past because if it
were not for slavery then Sethe would not have to kill her child and experience the vengeful spirit
known as Beloved. Therefore, Beloved is a constant reminder to Sethe of Sweet Home s atrocities.
Morrison uses the revival of the past through Beloved in order to comment on the enduring effects
of slavery because Morrison suggests that those who have been affected by slavery will forever be
haunted by their captivity. Furthermore, this

The Characteristics of Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy
Historical Background
Takotsubo cardiomyopathy was first acknowledged in Japan in 1990 by Sato et al (Djuric 512).
The United States did not have any report of Takotsubo until 1998 (Sharkey e460). Since 1998,
scientific interest in Takotsubo has steadily increased. Dr. Scott Sharkey validates the increase in
scientific interest: In 2000, only 2 publications were recorded, compared with nearly 300 in 2010.
Now, takotsubo is widely recognized, with reports form 6 continents and diverse countries (e460).
Dr. Salim Virani describes how the disease received its name: In Japanese, tako tsubo means
fishing pot for trapping octopus, because the LV of a patient diagnosed with this condition
resembles that shape (76). To better explain this, the x rays taken of the heartfrom patients with
takotsubo show a narrow neck with a ballooned lower portion. These x rays of the heart closely
resemble the Japanese takotsubo, which is a ceramic pot they use to trap octopus in (Sharkey e460
e461).
Dr. Arantza Manzanal explains how takotsubo was initially described as a syndrome of reversible
LV dysfunction with wall motion abnormalities that involve the apical and midventricular segments
(57). Dr. Paolo Angelini rationalizes that only during the last 2 decades have Japanese authors
specifically categorized transient takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TTC) as an entity in itself. Before that
time, TTC was often called acute myocardial infarction with normal coronary arteries (312). We will

The Five Factor Model
THE FIVE FACTOR MODEL
James Baron and David Kreps had given the Five Factor model, which is based on Michael Porter
s Five Forces model of business analysis (Porter, 1980). These factors will influence the
Competitive Intelligence system in any organization. These factors are External Environment,
Workforce, Organizational Culture and Structure, Organizational Strategy, and Technology of
Production and Organization of Work (Baron Kreps, 1999). Lack of correspondence between any
one of these factors can lead the firm s CI practices to the failure.
Figure 15.1 The Five Factor model. (Source: Adapted from Baron Kreps [1999]).
External Environment
The External Environment component takes into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This could also work to the firm s disadvantage, since gathered intelligence should never be
considered static. New developments are always transpiring that render recently collected
intelligence obsolete and invalid. The firm that fails to recognize this will have surely wasted its CI
efforts.
Workforce
The workforce element of the Five Factor model concerns demographic factors such as social (or
workforce) homogeneity (i.e., workforce uniformity with respect to education, work experience,
etc.). Workforce consistency also includes the skill set incorporated into the team. Demographic
factors can also seriously impede or enhance CI and strategy (Baron Kreps, 1999). The skill set
that the CI team leader possesses is vital to team success. Managers need to be able to understand
the degree of management their particular team requires. Due to the creative and sometimes
ambiguous nature of CI, team leaders must know when to step in and give direction or when to let
the CI team members find their own resolution. Micro management from the team leader will likely
undermine team effectiveness and inhibit team performance as members become dependent upon
guidance or possibly resentful of interference (Simon, 2000). Too little direction from the team
leader may lead to confusion with regards to the composition of team deliverables. The team

The Fear Within the Boys in Lord of the Flies by William...
The thing is fear can t hurt you any more than a dream ( William Golding quotes. ). Fear lives to
haunt and torment the person to a point of destruction and can be within everyone. Although a
person is able to overcome fear, it is still very dangerous because it affects the person as well as
everyone and everything around. In the book Lord of the Flies by William Golding, the boys are all
so overwhelmed by fear that the island starts to recede into a state damaged beyond repair. In
this case, Jack s fear of not being leader originally starts to affect him, but it gradually starts to
affect Ralph, and the rest of the boys. Ralph s fear of survival brings out his inner savageness and
an innocent life is taken away. Lastly, the boys fear... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I m going to be chief (Golding 146) and no rules unlike Ralph which is very savage like. Jack
knows that the boys like to hunt so he lures them into joining his tribe by promising to hunt. What
he does not know is that hunting will make them lose reality and turn them into savages with no
morals. When Jack does everything he can to keep power, the boys lose all sense of civilization
and destroy the island, destroying themselves in the process.
Despite the fact that Jack s fear of not being chief ends badly, Ralph s fear of not surviving has
another whole level of bad endings. Ralph s main concern when the boys crash into the island is
being rescued, but because of this, he neglects other problems such as looking out for littluns.
That litte un gasped Piggy him with the mark of his face, I don t see him. Where is he now?
(Golding 46). Ralph is so blinded by the idea of being rescued that he forgets his priorities. He
should be watching the littluns, but instead, he is being selfish and cares only about the fire. As
a consequence to his poor action, an innocent life is taken away. Also when a ship comes by and
Ralph realizes that the hunters let the fire out, he loses it and he yells at Jack, but his voice was
loud and savage, and struck them into silence. There was a ship (Golding 74). This is the first
time that Ralph shows any sign of savagery, which tells the readers that evil and savageness is

Health Information Technology Research Paper
Privacy Relating to Health Information Technology From an American s perspective, privacy is
seen as a natural part of life, yet the particulars of protecting that privacy is much more complex.
While there are ways to keep information secure, such as incognito mode for web search browsers
and options for private accounts in social media, privacyis still able to be violated by hackers and
information slips through companies. The theme of technology in Extra Sensory Perception by
Gershon Dublon and Joseph A. Paradiso and in The Historian as a Participant by Arthur

Designing Pairwise Testing Tool, Constraints, Result And...
In the earlier chapter, a detail explanation of CBPTT development was discussed including the flow,
implementation, result and discussion of experiments conducted. This chapter concluded the
research work on CBPTT with additional features that can be applied to CBPTT in the future.
5.2Conclusion
Since reliability issues have become one of the most concern issues in software development.
However by conducting software testing, it does not ensure free defect failure software but it can
increase the reliability of a software product. Although it is necessary to test the software
thoroughly, it is impossible to have exhaustive testing. This is the reason interaction testing have
been the most used testing. Especially pairwise testing which use two way interactions to find
software defect. This had become the driven force for this research. The aim of this research was to
develop pairwise testing tool, Constraints Based Pairwise Testing Tool (CBPTT), that can conduct
pairwise testing with constraints supports. Constraints are list of limitations and impossible
combinations that can present in a software system. CBPTT was developed to eliminate these
constraints and further reduced the resulted test cases. Survey on existing tool was conducted to
help CBPTT implementation. The result of the survey was discussed in literature review chapter.
The result from the survey included the available features of existing system that also support
pairwise testing and constraints

  • 2. Ivanhoe In everybody s life there is something that makes him strive for success. That something can be money, women, fame, or many other incentives.. To the medieval knights, victory renown and glory are the ambitions they strive for. Breaking a law in this code would be considered a disgrace, and would bring a dishonor that was worse than death itself. However, by applying the Code of Chivalry, the knights in the medieval time displayed certain character traits which would secure success and honor in both battle and morality. In the book Ivanhoe, by Sir Walter Scott, a knight named Ivanhoe illustrates this by devoting his attention to keeping the rules of the Code of Chivalry, which consisted of love of adventure, integrity, and loyalty to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If his home country of England is to lose the battles, he and his country would be disgraced. His fear of disgrace helps lead him on. Having a fear of disgrace shows the reader that having this motive can lead one on to success. br br People can learn a lesson not only about glory, but of bravery also. Besides glory, bravery is used throughout the novel also. An example of this is when Sir Brian de Bois Guilbert dies for Rebecca. Ivanhoe demonstrates bravery when he fights Brian to repay Rebecca for her care when he is hurt. He is also very brave when he fights for his Saxon image. Even though he is not a major character in this book, Robin Hood also shows bravery. He robs from the rich and gives to the poor which breaks certain parts in the Code of Chivalry. Through his actions, he fulfills part of the Code. He is brave and has a love of adventure in doing so, but his integrity and respect to the king is taken by his criminal actions. People can learn from these examples that sometimes being brave is not pretty. Both Sir Brian de Bois Guilbert and Robin Hood had to suffer consequences for being brave. br br Bravery is very important to knights. If they are not brave they are disgraced, which is something they fear the most. Ivanhoe s motto is Death is better than defeat, this shows his fear of disgrace. Likewise, in are society there are certain people that are looked at as being a disgrace. br br In society today there is a fear of disgrace. Becoming a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Miley Cyrus Cultural Appropriation Miley Cyrus, is an inspiration to many young women all over the world. Due to the flip flopping of her music, she has helped show a long term cultural problem. Miley Cyrus, 24 year old, singer songwriter and actress. In 2006, she was recognized as a teen idol when she starred on the Disney channel television series Hannah Montana. After that, she had a huge downfall, she started using drugs and behaving lecherously. In 2013, while promoting her fourth album Bangerz her sexually explicit behavior began, many looked at her in disgust from this point on. Miley Cyrusthen struggled with her gender identity. In an interview she states, It s weird that I m a girl because I just don t feel like a girl, and I don t feel like a boy. Cyrus as well as many others identify themselves as gender neutral. Once cyrus decided to discontinue smoking marijuana, people began to notice. A December 2016 study indicated the drug use has gone down. I wouldn t necessarily say she s back to the old Miley just yet, but she s doing better; however, there is still room for improvement. Miley Cyrus was recently accused of cultural appropriation for hip hop comments in an interview. In definition, cultural appropriation is the adoption or use of elements of one culture by members of another culture (Farah). This a horrifying concept because it s often seen as controversial and strips the group of its identity. Miley Cyrus was accused of cultural appropriation because she stereotypes hip hop ... • 4. Differences In A Long Distance Relationship And The Military Relationships are all about love, happiness, and support. It is also a way of taking the time to know your significant other in ways that are personal and different than any other type of relationship that you can have. Being in a military relationship is different than other relationships, the struggles and not to mention the distance that is faced while being in one. Waiting for calls, having a time difference and wanting to be held during any bad times can get frustrating and difficult at times, but just knowing that one day you ll stay and grow old together can be the strength that can pull you through your weaknesses. Those who are within a long distance relationship are familiar with about the hardships that are faced. Though the only difference between being in a long distance relationship and a military long distance relationship are the struggles of being in one where you don t know when the next time you ll be able to see your other or even their be time to contact, even just if you ll be able to speak to them. There are struggles here and there. Some things are taken the wrong way if you re texting them, like there are instances where I am just asking him a simple question because I m curious and he thinks I m mad. • 5. Abrams And Sedition Act Case During times of political unrest and hysteria, the Court seems to allow for more limits on speech if simply because the times host more potential for danger. Take the following example as parallel to Schenck, Abrams, and the circumstances surrounding both. In the 1969 case Brandenburg v. Ohio, the Court abandoned the clear and present danger test, stating that only speech that produces or is likely to produce violent actions or illegal behavior can be banned (Cohen 32). The Court argued a difference between advocacy of ideas and incitement of unlawful conduct exists though the Court did not define it. During this time, the United Stateswas not concerned with being overthrown by insurgents or overcome with hysteria like earlier in the century.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Court, in affirming the judgment of lower courts, deferred to Congress but also redefined the standard to protect future free speech since the times implied more stringent restrictions on speech could follow. Had the Court struck down the ruling, Congress would not have the necessary power to limit speech, and future dangerous speech would go unabated since doing so would create the rule that Congress cannot limit free speech. Rather than create this rule, the Court created a new standard by which to measure the ability of Congress to curb free speech on a case by case basis. This new standard, which more broadly protects free speech, has evolved over time, as evident in Abrams, Brandenburg, and Holder. The ability to evolve over time and to apply to different cases in lower courts highlights Holmes idea that rights were established by society and balanced by the needs of the society, according to blah blah, and thus reflects an inherent legitimacy. Again, having this standard and the ability to choose to use it or not allows the Court to reflect the necessities of society, thereby aligning more closely to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Peer Pressure In Shooting An Elephant By George Orwell Most people believe that others have authority and control over their own actions. However, contrary to belief, authority controls people s actions. Peer pressure can have an effect on the decisions people make. In this short story, the policeman (the protagonist) is hated by the majority of people in the city of Moulmein. He is hated because he is secretly on the Burmese people s side instead of the British. Along with conflict of the British and Burmese people, an elephant escapes and causes chaos throughout the city. It is killing people and destroying buildings. The policeman decides to step in and help, but he is faced with the peer pressure of the crowd to killan elephant that he has no intention in killing. The protagonist is faced with lying to other people and regret for his actions. In, Shooting an Elephant George Orwellexplains how the policeman struggles between the decisions of shooting an elephant to please the authoritarian crowd that can treat him better and accept him. When the policeman decides to help the people of Moulmein, in lower Burma, he lets them believe his gun is going to be used to shoot the elephant, because of the presser the crowd puts on him. The protagonist struggles throughout life due to the fact that most people despise him. The text states that, I was hated by large numbers of people the only time in my life that I have been important enough for this to happen to me, (17). The people have the authority over the hatred that is directed towards the protagonist. They control if he is accepted or outcasted. The policeman was looking for a way not to be hated, so he decides to help with chaos that the elephant has created. He grabs his gun and then is confronted with a crowd that normally would have no interest in him. For example, They had seen the rifle and were all shouting excitedly that I was going to shoot the elephant, (19). The magical rifle in his hands makes him seem worth paying attention to. This is because the policeman can shoot the elephant and give the people what they want. The protagonist was not intending to shoot the elephant so, he did not tell the crowd that he was going to use the rifle for protection. This may be because, he was looking for a ... The seventh and eighth grade classes had the honor of trying it out, and I was one of the students that got to. I have strengths and weaknesses in my novel that determine the characters, my voice, and the plot. To begin, I would rate my characters in my novelan emerging. One reason, is because my major, and minor, characters are well explained. My main characterDylan, also known as my protagonist, is practically explained in every single sentence, except for the beginning of course. The beginning explains how each of the main supporting characters act, along with the protagonist. I believe that I explained the supporting characters well enough that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The friend I give it to wouldn t even need to know me well enough to determine that the novel is mine. It seems as if I am leaving my fingerprint in my novel as I write. Most people know that I m all against sexistism, and I have proof of that in my novel. I also could be known to have an old soul, meaning that I don t agree with what a lot of people do in this generation, and I d rather have it be like old times, which is another point that can be found in my novel. I tend to use grade level vocabulary when I write almost everything, and people could also find evidence of that in my novel. Finally, I would rate the plot in my novel an emerging because of the not very strong climax. When people think of a climax, they usually expect something like: the dark object inched closer and closer to me. I had no clue what the mysterious shadow was, but it gave me a bad feeling. The monster screeched a little, which almost made me fall off the bed. I blink once, and the creature is two feet closer. I blink once more, and it is five feet closer. I blink, yet again, and the creature is right up to face. I can literally smell its rotting breath. Sounds about right, correct? Well my climax, and I quote: I zip down the entrance, but find myself face to face with a bobcat. Yes, you heard right, a bobcat! I scream probably the loudest I ever have, and the bobcat growls a bit at me. The big cat even snarls its two sharp, yellow, rows of teeth. I back away as much as I possibly ... Discount brokerages have heavily brought down the cost of trading. This has proven to be a boon to the traders especially the intraday and the derivatives trades. Discount brokerages like RKSV and Zerodha have already started hurting the broking industry. Full service brokers had made a request to market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to impose a minimum slab on the brokerage being charged by discount brokers. There is the new facility of mobile trading and online trading. 3. More high frequency trades The reduction of brokerage brings down the breakdown even. The intraday brokerage for discount brokerage is 0.01% or Rs.20, whichever is lower. So, in small trades, when a trader buys at 100.01 and sells at 100.05, he still makes profit. • 12. Difference Between Market Economy And Mixed Economy In order for a country to run, it needs to sustain a stable economy. A country can choose one of the three economies; Market economy, Planned economy, and Mixed economy. Market economy is primarily based on supply and demand and is described as a shift right on the economic spectrum. As well, resources are privately owned by businesses rather than the government. Market economy is primarily controlled by the consumers who drive the economic decision making with little government involvement. Words such as Individualism and Capitalism can be used to describe Market Economy. However, no country can ever be a 100% market economy even though countries such as The United States of America are extremely far right on the economic spectrum. Planned Economyis primarily controlled and managed by the government with little intervention from the consumers and is described as a shift left on the economic spectrum. Also, in a planned economy, the government makes decisions regarding scarcity and also finds solutions on how to terminate it by varying the production, distribution, and consumption of products. Collectivism can also be used to describe Planned Economies. However, similarly to market economies, no country can ever be 100% Planned Economy even though countries such as North Korea fall extremely far left on the economic spectrum. Beowulf experienced The Call to Adventure when he realized what Grendel was doing to Heorot, and he felt obligated to help King Hrothgar because he is his father s friend. The second step of the Departure is the Refusal of the Call. The Refusal of the Call is when the hero first refuses the call because of fear, insecurity, etc. This step is not included in Beowulf. The recession has put many people out of work, made taking out loans more difficult, and has caused a nationwide panic. • 18. The Impact Of Facebook On Citizen Engagement on the power that social media sites possess on citizen engagement. However, a study done in 2011 examined the usefulness of Facebook pages as a way to connect citizens with each other (many to many) for policy input versus the utilization of those social media sites to transmit to and receive from governmentto citizens (one to many) in a more authoritative manner . The study was done to examine the use of Facebook to maintain power relations and inform citizens about their views rather than using the platform for the soft of connectivity for which it was intended: that is flat, egalitarian networked communications or even iterated and critical feedback exchanges . Results are promising to better the future link for citizen engagement. Social media can be the resource used to increase interaction between government and citizens. Today this form of social media communication is on a rise and is becoming an accepted part of everyday life. By establishing a right kind of respect and privacy this tool will replace the old with the new and open doors to new interactions between the government and social media. As much as social media may appear to be the missing link between government and citizen interaction, it may have a dark side. Social media can be used against the government. He was born in Oregon in 1938. His father was a sawmill worker. He married one year out of high school and had two children. He worked various jobs to support his small family and in the late 1960s and throughout the 1970s he began drinking heavily. When he got his drinking problem under control, he began to teach at the University of Texas at El Paso and Syracuse University. He went on to win a literary award in 1983 and focused on his writing full time later. He wrote Cathedral that year and Where I m Calling From in 1969. He died at the age of fifty of lung cancer. His stories are very realistic and mirror his own life (Editors of Encyclopedia Britannica). Cathedral portrays the difference between looking and seeing. The visitor in the story has the disability of blindness, which the narrator comments, I wasn t enthusiastic about his visit. He was no one I knew. And his being blind bothered me (Carver 106). The narrator is figuratively blinded by jealousy and can t understand why his wife is so obsessed with her friendship with a blind man. • 21. Sophocles Antigone Analysis Sophocles was born 498 BC in Colonus near Athens, Greece. His father, Sophillus was a wealthy weapons maker and a leading citizen. Both birth and wealth, then, set Sophocles apart as someone likely to play an important role in Athenian society. When Sophocles was six years old, the Athenians beat the Persians at Salamis. Sophocles did not fight but he saw his house and all of Athens, including the Parthenon, burned by the Persians before the Athenians beat them. At 16 due to his youth, good looks, and performing ability, he was picked to a paean (choral chant) about the victory of the Battle of Salamis. The production involved singing, dancing, and playing the lyre. Like other Greek boys from wealthy families, Sophocles studied poetry, music, dancing, and gymnastics subjects regarded as the basis of a well rounded education for a citizen. His early schooling prepared him to serve as a leader in all aspects of public life, including the military, foreign policy, and the arts. Sophocles wrote about 120 plays. Nietzsche ideas was an inscribed assessment based upon ethical principles. Nietzsche analyzes the connections and significance of the contrasting moral concepts in a distinctive section where he elaborates on the good and the bad as well as the good and evil, by expressing his thoughts on slave moralitythat was created by the Jews. In the beginning, Nietzsche states that the priest is worthless and that they learn to hate. The priest hatred is powerful that it causes them to be destructive and it is known throughout history. Nietzsche compares the Jews to the priest caste who were the most hated in human history. The Jews somehow managed to reverse the moral assessments associating themselves as good but, the powerful nobles will be known as evil and damned for eternity. However, Nietzsche said, It was the Jews who started the slave revolt in morals (445) In the following section, Nietzsche explains that the reassessment of values effected by the Jews was occurring and that they were not noticeable. One of their achievements was the development of the religious teachings Christianity. He states that the Christian love violated the Jewish hatred and that the representation of Jesus and his crucifixion was the persuasion of the moral code. However, this idea is somewhat controversial because animal activists look down upon the poor treatment of animals. Animal testing is a fairly serious matter because of all of the malfunctions and harm that leads to animal suffrage. The types of animals being used, such as rats, mice, rabbits, and chips are selected specifically for the test that is being performed. The outcomes of the test, depends on which animal is being tested and what it is being examined for. Common tests being used on animals include, medicinefor humandiseases, cosmetic products and their reactions, and students in training utilizing animals in educational laboratories. Many different types of species are used for testing and experimentation, but the most common types are mice, rats, rabbits, and chimpanzees. Until after their high school graduation, David has never spoken to her until her family pulls up to the restaurant, where David works as a valet. The movie feels like Nicholas Sparks fan fiction as David, who has no plans beyond valeting at the local country club and working as a mechanic in his dad s shop, falls for Jade, that is bound for college and a summer internship. Jade and David fall madly in love, but as her parents try to bring their relationship to a halt, their love only grows stronger. Sparks fly instantly and the two become inseparable for the rest of the summer, to the undeniable disapproval of Jade s father. His overprotectiveness comes from his grief over the loss of Jade s superstar older brother a few years back, he can t imagine the thought of losing his daughter as well. And looking back, David might have reminded the father of his lost son. This is supposed to be a film about the agony of teenage first love, but it s awfully tasteful and emotionally detached in its blissed out depiction. The main downfall of this movie is that the movie is being supportive of teeenagers being young and dumb; through scenes of violence, sex and nudity, and drugs and alcohol. The Failure Of The Treaty Of Versailles The failure of the Treaty of Versailles in the United States Senate was due to both the opposition of the treaty in liberal and conservative forces, as well as Woodrow Wilson s stubbornness and incompetence when deciding the final version of the treaty with imperialism, German restrictions, and the League of Nations. As World War I began with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, igniting a conflict between Serbia and Austria Hungary that snowballed into a war with Great Britain, France, and Russia against Germany, Austria Hungary and Italy. When the war was over, the Treaty of Versailles needed to be discussed between the Great Britain, France, Italy, and the United States. The European demands from the war were fueled by revenge, and their imperialism countered Wilson s apparent morality. Although isolationists and Republicans desired to influence the treaty, Wilson had accepted the European demands, and even after altering the treaty for European gain, he disallowed the treaty from passing twice in the Senate after Henry Cabot Lodge added reservations. Wilson s influence on the Senate and the Treaty of Versailles led to its defeat in the United States and ultimately the US absence in the League of Nations. The opposition of the Treaty of Versailles rose when the European nations contradicted America s values of isolationism and moral idealism, with various groups in the United States questioning the treaty and its lenience of European imperialism. This procedure, called Equity, develops from the sixteenth century and is characterized by the creation of special courts to make judgments royal and the development and writing of an important precedent. Both systems, Common Law and Equity, will live together until 1875 when the distinction will be abolished. The main consequence is the existence, even today, two major legal systems: the English system of common law and equity in use in the United States and Commonwealth countries and the continental system based on the Napoleonic Code in other European countries and in all their colonies. Common Law and the development of measures For years, these two structures common law and the functioning of the equity side and front were. In 1615, in each case, it was determined that we should do in case of dispute. Over time, even after years of antipathy between the two systems was continued for centuries. In 1865, after the restoration of the system of English law, it was decided in the case of divergence between the common law and equity, justice must prevail. Form, the Supreme Court, the laws of justice (1873 1975) established principles for managing a hybrid legal system of courts and courts of equity of the common law and equity. • 41. Essay on Prion Diseases Prion Diseases Abstract Transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs) are neurodegenerative diseases that are thought to be caused by the misfolding of prion proteins. Prions are able to replicate in the absence of nucleic acids. TSEs include: scrapie, bovine spongiform encephalopathy, Creutzfeldt Jakob disease, kuru, Gerstmann Straussler Scheinker disease, and Fatal Familial Insomnia. They can affect many different animals, including humans. Currently, there are no ways to diagnose, treat, or cure TSEs, as much more research is needed before these diseases are completely understood. 1. The Prion Protein and Its Function The prion protein (PrP) is unusual in that it has two stable isoforms. The cellular or normal form of the prion protein is termed PrPC, while the disease form is termed PrPSC. Sharing the same sequence of amino acids, or primary structure, PrPC and PrPSC differ in their secondary, tertiary, and quaternary structures. The normal prion protein has N and C terminals, three alpha helices, and two beta sheets (Soto, 2006, 40). Its function is still not completely understood. However, scientists have found evidence that point to various possibilities. 1) Because most PrPC are located in lipid rafts, membrane structures involved in signaling, it is suggested that PrPC may also be a mediator in neuroprotective signaling pathways. 2) Interaction between PrPC and Bcl 2, a ligand involved in protecting neurons from apoptosis, suggests the possibility that PrPC may be an antiapoptotic protein. 3) PrPC has also been linked to copper metabolism in the brain. In one particular study, PrP knockout mice, or mice that were genetically altered to not express PrP, were found to have lower levels of copper in their brains and higher levels in their serum (Soto, 2006, 42). However, in other studies with PrP knockout mice, most of the animals did not display any obvious disorders, and those that did were found to have been affected by the increase in concentration of another protein known as doppel. ... It started at 7:30pm and lasted about two hours with a fifth teen minute intermission. I selected this event because it was a requirement for my intro to theater class, and also I enjoy theater. I brought with me notes and paper so I could write down my thoughts on it. It ended up being too dark and I used my phone instead. I tried to keep what it was exactly about out of my mind. • 45. Pros And Cons Of Peaceful Resistance Peaceful resistance has been around for ages and has served for a way for people to achieve goals like social change through the practice of nonviolence. Peaceful resistance has gained much attention in both the past and present, causing others to ponder as to whether such resistance either benefits or harms a free society. There are compelling arguments for both sides, though the argument that peaceful resistance positively impacts society stands to be the most persuasive. Nonviolent resistancebenefits a free society because it serves as a method for defeating oppressive regimes and societal norms, it allows powerful leaders to emerge to unite people under one cause, and it facilitates the establishment of lasting democracies. Peaceful resistance has proved to be a way for people to overthrow oppressive regimes and societal norms. People were able to know they were not alone in their struggle, allowing hope to be restored. If a powerful leader such as King had not emerged, nothing would have changed; African Americans would still be treated as second class citizens. People have to follow under a leader like King in order to develop an efficient plan to target the problems plaguing their lives. Stress Of Stress In Nursing With the high demand of medical professionals and increasing numbers of people with chronic diseased, there might be a time where one nurse have to over see more patients than normal. Taking care of extra patients than normal might bring some work burnout and prevent nursing professionals from performing their job effectively. A study was done to measure the stress level of nurses working on the oncology department and the effect of stress leading the nurses to consider looking for job in other departments. It was found that 35% of the nurses were experiencing emotional stress and 17 % were depersonalized which then resulted in considering for other opportunities in less stressful departments (Davis S, Lind BK, Sorensen C, 2013). Stress can be experience from many factors such as death of a patient, patient s family history, severity of patient s health condition, and emotional attachment with patients. As a nursing professional, one have to witness devastating situations such as death of loved ones. The film, directed by Clint Eastwood, details the entire true story as told by Captain Chesley Sully Sullenberger, who piloted flight 1549. Sullenberger (the main character who is the basis for the current analysis) was played by Tom Hanks. The film details everything from the initial bird strike, the root cause of the crash, to the hearings held by the National Transportation Safety Board (more commonly known as the NTSB). These hearing were to discuss the actions of Sullenberger and his First Officer on the day of the crash. One could obviously tell from the film that Sullenberger has accepted that his plane had indeed crashed. Sullenberger, even when alone to himself, never denied that the crash had occurred. Perhaps this was because of his resilience. Whatever the case may be, acceptance, as it was depicted in the film, was one of Sullenberger s biggest strengths related to adjustment. It is also essential to mention that Sullenberger used positive coping mechanisms to cope with the residual stress of the hearings, and the crash itself. These will be looked at a little later, but should be, nonetheless, a considered a considerable adjustment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. A Report On New Zealand Essay Background Overview New Zealand is an island country with a population of 4.4 million. Auckland is the country s largest city with a population of 1.4 million people. It is one of the fastest growing cities in Asia Pacific, the on going population growth in the region will continuously generate economic growth over the short /medium term. Statistics suggest that Auckland requires between 9000 and 11000 new dwellings every year to meet the latent demand due to population growth. Auckland has a particularly significant issue on housing affordability because land supply is tightly confined by a strict urban/rural boundary, development rules and consents are restrictive, and immigrants (inward and external) are attracted to the jobs and natural amenities in the region. Rapidly rising rates of house price inflation have been reflective of a demand supply imbalance. 1.Introduction Auckland is New Zealand s largest residential property market. There has been a physical shortage of houses, particularly in Auckland. Strengthening economic growth and migration inflows as well as loose credit conditions multiplied demand in construction sector. More recently, the Official Cash Rate (OCR) has been increased from 2.5 percent to 3 percent for the purpose of preventing general inflation pressures in the broader economy. Housing supply conditions have also started to improve with a recovery in residential construction, centred in Auckland. These factors are all working to reduce the ... • 51. The Characteristics of Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy Historical Background Takotsubo cardiomyopathy was first acknowledged in Japan in 1990 by Sato et al (Djuric 512). The United States did not have any report of Takotsubo until 1998 (Sharkey e460). Since 1998, scientific interest in Takotsubo has steadily increased. Dr. Scott Sharkey validates the increase in scientific interest: In 2000, only 2 publications were recorded, compared with nearly 300 in 2010. Now, takotsubo is widely recognized, with reports form 6 continents and diverse countries (e460). Dr. Salim Virani describes how the disease received its name: In Japanese, tako tsubo means fishing pot for trapping octopus, because the LV of a patient diagnosed with this condition resembles that shape (76). To better explain this, the x rays taken of the heartfrom patients with takotsubo show a narrow neck with a ballooned lower portion. These x rays of the heart closely resemble the Japanese takotsubo, which is a ceramic pot they use to trap octopus in (Sharkey e460 e461). Dr. Arantza Manzanal explains how takotsubo was initially described as a syndrome of reversible LV dysfunction with wall motion abnormalities that involve the apical and midventricular segments (57). Dr. Paolo Angelini rationalizes that only during the last 2 decades have Japanese authors specifically categorized transient takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TTC) as an entity in itself. Before that time, TTC was often called acute myocardial infarction with normal coronary arteries (312). We will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Workforce consistency also includes the skill set incorporated into the team. Demographic factors can also seriously impede or enhance CI and strategy (Baron Kreps, 1999). The skill set that the CI team leader possesses is vital to team success. Managers need to be able to understand the degree of management their particular team requires. Due to the creative and sometimes ambiguous nature of CI, team leaders must know when to step in and give direction or when to let the CI team members find their own resolution. Micro management from the team leader will likely undermine team effectiveness and inhibit team performance as members become dependent upon guidance or possibly resentful of interference (Simon, 2000). In the earlier chapter, a detail explanation of CBPTT development was discussed including the flow, implementation, result and discussion of experiments conducted. This chapter concluded the research work on CBPTT with additional features that can be applied to CBPTT in the future. 5.2Conclusion Since reliability issues have become one of the most concern issues in software development. However by conducting software testing, it does not ensure free defect failure software but it can increase the reliability of a software product. Although it is necessary to test the software thoroughly, it is impossible to have exhaustive testing. This is the reason interaction testing have been the most used testing. Especially pairwise testing which use two way interactions to find software defect. This had become the driven force for this research. The aim of this research was to develop pairwise testing tool, Constraints Based Pairwise Testing Tool (CBPTT), that can conduct pairwise testing with constraints supports. Constraints are list of limitations and impossible combinations that can present in a software system. CBPTT was developed to eliminate these constraints and further reduced the resulted test cases. Survey on existing tool was conducted to help CBPTT implementation. The result of the survey was discussed in literature review chapter. The result from the survey included the available features of existing system that also support pairwise testing and constraints ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
