Working Out Hypothesis
**Title** We constructed a top down hypothesis that people exhibit an increase in their performance
level when working out in the presence of others as opposed to working out alone. To test our
hypothesis, we questioned 12 males and 12 females that are between the ages of 18 and 24, and are
frequent gym goers. We asked them whether or not they preferred to work out in front of other others,
or if they would rather work out alone, and why. We formatted this question in a standard text message
that we sent out to eight people each. In order to duplicate these findings, there are a few design
features that should be present. First, the individuals must attend a gym or workout class on a regular
basis (about 2 3 times per week). Also, on top of this, they must have ... Show more content on

The theory of sexual selection states that traits that help with mating success can be selected for, even
if they hurt chances of survival. High testosterone levels are not necessarily great for a man health
wise. However, the men with these high levels are the ones that are the highest performers in the gym.
The theory of intrasexual competition involves an individual out competing other individuals of the
same sex. This goes hand in hand with people increasing their performance level when wanting to
outperform others in the gym. By looking like the strongest man, you can attract more high quality
females. The same concept works in reverse for women. If they look like the most physically fit
female, more men will want them. Another theory in psychology that this relates to is the imaginary
audience theory. This theory involves an individual having an egotistic belief that people around them
are watching them and their every move. In order for an individual to feel the need to out perform
another, they must believe that others are watching

The System Of Criminal Trial Essay
4.6(2) Adversary system
The system of criminal trial as mentioned or directed by the Code is the adversary system based on the
accusatorial method . In this system the prosecutor representing the State (or the people) accuses the
defendant (the accused person) of the commission of some crime; and the law requires him to prove
his case beyond reasonable doubt. The law also provides fair opportunity to the accused person to
defend himself. The judge, more or less, is to work as an umpire between the two contestants.
Challenge constitutes the essence of adversary trial and truth is supposed to emerge from the
controverted facts through effective and constant challenges . Experience has shown that adversary is
by and large dependable for the reconciliation of public and private interest i.e. public interest in
punishing the criminals and private interest in preventing wrongful convictions.
4.6(3) Section 304 of Code of Criminal Procedure: Legal aid to accused at State expense in certain
cases:
Most of the accused persons are poor and uneducated. They cannot afford to engage lawyers for their
defence, nor do they have any legal knowledge and professional skill to safeguard their interests
themselves. Therefore, though the adversary system predicts equal legal rights and opportunities to the
parties to present their respective cases before the court, such legal rights and opportunities would in
practice operate unevenly and harshly, affecting undesirably the poor accused

After all this time, the United States has stopped paying tribute to the Barbary Islands. Our country is
finally standing up to the people whom have caused us much trouble. Some are saying we are brave,
but others are saying we wish to fight a battle we might lose. Was the stopping of the tribute helpful to
the United States, a way of showing how powerful we were?
Or were we overestimating ourselves in starting this war? As everyone ,whom is everyone, knows, the
Barbary War is over. But we are far from knowing all about it. What really happened with the Barbary
Coast war? Was it worth fighting a war over? We are here to tell you today, what really happened in

The Rhetorical Analysis Of Viva La Vida
Titanium This song relates specifically to the scene at the end where he stands up for himself by
refusing to give back his signature. They attempt to coax him into handing it over and signing it in
order to convict the other people holding out. Then at the last moment he takes a stand for himself and
the others by defying the court and being hanged... He let there empty threats ricochet of him as he
stands defiant against the evil and corruption of the court. When he answers, I did not when asked if
he saw anyone else with him, he is standing up for for his friends and protecting them. This parallels to
the general tone of the song and strongly relates to the lyrics, I m criticized but all your bullets
ricochet You shoot me down, but I get up I m bulletproof nothing to lose Fire away, fire away .
Viva La Vida Viva La Vida is a song of remembrance for a time when the King of France had real
authority and now he is washed up and no longer respected. This directly reflects the loss of authority
that occurs throughout the story as Hale loses respect. Hale goes from the de facto authority on
witchcraft and a chief member of the Salem court... to a person who s pleas and reasoning is
dismissed. This is shown in two quotes that represent him at the beginning and the end; these quotes
are, There be no unnatural causes here. Tell him I have sent for Reverend Hale of Beverly, and Mister
Hale will surely confirm that and Now hear me, and beguile yourselves no more. I will not

Anatomy And Physiology That Affect Snakes
Snakes tend to differ significantly from other terrestrial vertebrates due to their lack of any
appendages. Although such a characteristic would appear to be of a significant disadvantage on land,
snakes have managed to secure themselves a variety of niches and adaptations. The elongated body
gave many snakes the ability to strangle their prey and easily inhabit aquatic and nonaquatic
environments alike. Some snakes have also been able to climb trees and managed to out speed or
compete with animals with limbs. The specific locomotion of snakes can thus be a potentially
important indicator of ecological differences between species [7]. Understanding the ways that snakes
move helps us understand the types of factors responsible for their form, while giving insight into
inventing machines and instruments that can use this motion for everyday use. This paper will look at
the specifics and varieties of snake locomotion, while touching on some of the factors like anatomy
and physiology that affect snakes survival. Understanding the origins of snakes and their iconic
locomotion have been previously poorly understood [1]. Accurate conclusions about the development
of the snakes elongated, legless shape [were] hindered by the relative lack of informative fossils of
early stem snakes [1]. Despite this, questions concerning the origin of their anatomy are usually
narrowed down to two different environmental influences: either 1) aquatic life or 2) fossorial life.

None of the secrets of success work unless you do. Anonymous
Well, if you believe in the secret and you think about success, eventually it will walk right to you. Ha!

of us, we will be over here working our butts off to make a change in our lives and working for said
secrets of success. In 2006, a movie like documentary, The Secret, created by Rhonda Byrne, was

Essay On Homeland Security
Homeland Security
Homeland security is an American umbrella term for the concerted and combined national effort to
ensure a homeland for people that is secure, safe and resilient against terrorism and other hazards
where American interests, aspirations, and their ways of life can thrive to the national effort to prevent
terrorist attacks or any sort of danger within the United States of and minimize the damage from
attacks that do occur.
Homeland security is not constrained and controlled to terrorist incidents. Terrorism is one of many
threats that put in danger the entire society. Homeland security includes both natural disasters and man

Department of agencies such as The Coast Guard, Transportation Security Agency, the Immigration
and Naturalization Services and many more, the only problem facing the new bill announced by the
president has only labor issues. If they pass the bill it can be in affect almost within thirty days of

United States.
The new department would have four major functions in order to ensure the security for our
homeland. These major functions would include transportation and boarder security, disaster and
emergency awareness.
President George W. Bush, he is the man who is involved and started the legislation that does not give
him flexibility and he wants to shape the new departments of homeland security.

The Pursuit Of Truth By Willard Van Orman Quine
Published in 1982, Willard Van Orman Quine wrote an epistemological book title, The Pursuit of
Truth. Quine ranges from different aspect, from evidence to reference, in his quest to gain
epistemological truth from science. This is a short summary of the book s contents then the latter half
of the paper is critique and review of the book and Quine s points within. In the first chapter Quine,
deals with the evidence and all things pertaining to it. He starts the chapter with the point that
evidence is based on sensory experience and that this combined with past experiences can predict
evidence of new things based on past experience, much like memory. He then talks about what he
calls observation sentences, this is the statement of evidence itself. Next, Quine gets into how his
definition of observation sentences is different than that of others who have defined it. This is really
big to Quine and it sets up a lot of what he works with. Quine then discuss observation categoricals,
which he says are test in pairs of observation. Next in the chapter is holism, which is the theory that
parts of a whole are in interconnection, such that they can t be understood without reference to the
whole, which is then regarded as greater than the sum of its parts. Quine then ends his firster chapter
with the talk of empirical content and norms and aims. Quine, in the section of norms and aims,
discusses the relationship between naturalized epistemology and traditional epistemology.

Gender Roles In The Handmaid s Tale
The Handmaid s Tale is a dystopian novel about a totalitarian society named Gilead, where society
functions much like a caste system. The feminist lens is the most useful to the audience in
understanding the themes and motifs in the Handmaid s tale because it reflects on how women interact
within a population, the effect of language that is used to address women, and how the theory of
oppression of women is deeply rooted in society. The Handmaid s Tale not only discusses feminism
and how oppression of women occurs, but also how we as different societal groups come to ostracize
one another. Atwood brings the discussion of feminism up in many different examples throughout the
book including discussing gender roles, how women s experiences differ ... Show more content on

However, the theft of the women s real names is the most devastating to characters like Offred
because it strips her from her unique identity. Names carry an infinite amount of information that
Atwood wants the audience to realize is often overlooked; factors such as the individual s origin,
information about their family, gender, and potentially their culture, commonly serve as the precursor
for humans to predict how their interactions with one another will go. The language that Gilead uses
to categorize and identify people within its society breaks unity among members, and completely
changes the meaning and value of the word feminine . Addressing the females that are no longer able
to reproduce as unwomen gives Gilead the power to take the only thing that remains to bond them.
While it is not uncommon for different cultures to have varying views about how women interact
within their civilizations, the officials of Gilead almost completely remove women as members of
society. Atwood wisely uses names as a tool to connect with the audience because the use of names is
a fundamental element of society that occurs routinely and at a high frequency. More importantly,
Atwood uses her opinions about the value of a name, to serve as a lesson to readers; she insinuates
that her audience should increase their awareness of the effects and potential

College Sports
Abstract: Collegiate athletes participating in the two revenue sports (football, men s basketball)
sacrifice their time, education, and risk physical harm for their respected programs. The players are
controlled by a governing body (NCAA) that dictates when they can show up to work, and when they
cannot show up for work. They are restricted from making any substantial financial gains outside of
their sports arena. These athletes receive no compensation for their efforts, while others prosper from
their abilities. The athletes participating in the two revenue sports of college athletics, football and
men s basketball should be compensated for their time, dedication, and work put forth in their
respected sports.

There is a reality to college athletes participating in men s basketball and football. The reality is these
athletes are being exploited, and as argued by Stanley Eitzen, they are being exploited much like
slaves during the years of the plantation system. It is an idea created by Eitzen that seams overdrawn,
but makes significant parallels to that of the plantation system. The National Collegiate Athletic
Association (NCAA) preserves the plantation system, providing the rules that protect the interests of
the individual plantation overseers. The plantations are football and men s basketball factories within
the universities with big time programs. The plantation overseers are college coaches who receive
hard labor from their workers. The workers on the plantation are owned by the plantation, they
produce riches for their masters while receiving a meager amount of return on the profits of the
plantation. Being exploited for their physical abilities is not the only injustice hindering these athletes.
They are controlled, managed, and dominated by their superiors. They are restricted in their rights to
freedom, and in some cases mistreated physically and mentally (Eitzen).
Many people who watch and are directly affiliated with college sports would be opposed

Feminism Through The Time Of The Butterflies
Feminism through In the Time of the Butterflies
In the past, women had less power than men for thousands of years. In other words, men played an
essential gender role and controlled people all around the world. Obviously, most leaders were males,
and there were more male bosses than female`s in companies. This unequal social injustice has existed
all around the world, especially in the Dominican Republic. In this country, men always thought the
only responsibility of women was staying at home and taking care of the whole family. In addition,
men did not care what women really wanted, and the only way was to force women to do what men
asked. In the movie In the Time of the Butterflies, which happened in the Dominican Republic, people
struggle under the brutal dictatorship of Trujillo between the 1930`s and 1960`s. In this movie, men
play the important gender role that women have no right to apply for university, and they have to be
obedient to men. However, women work hard to defeat their oppressed unequal fate and seek
feminism, especially for the three Mirabal sisters. The Mirabal sisters are normal women who live in a
farm with their parents. Unfortunately, their father is killed by Trujillo, so they become
revolutionaries. They lead people to dare to start the revolution against feminist resistance. Although
the Mirabal sisters understand they will sacrifice their lives, they never abandon due to their
respectable ambition to gain equal rights as men.

Globalization And The Concept Of Flexibility
Globalization and the concept of flexibility have been described to have a plethora of implications on
Human Resource Management (EH Bax, 1996). Hence, HR Managers are faced with new challenges
arising out of globalization, as they are saddled with the responsibility of implementing adaptable
strategies to the concept of flexibility, and to remain abreast with the changing times. The increased
power of market forces, the globalization of business and the associated de institutionalization of the
business firm s internal industrial relations have implied that the meaning of the firm as a social group
has been reduced to a social collectively in which instrumental rationality and efficiency as defined by
management have become the dominant norms. Economies than can improve their competitiveness by
de institutionalizing their markets, notably by increasing the flexibility of the labour market and by
decreasing the costs of labour by breaking down all kinds of institutional arrangements like social
security provisions and workers rights. (EH Bax, 1996) Modern HRM is not only about selecting and
recruiting people for specific job structures but also taking up the responsibility of the designing and
re designing of these job structures as per the market and changing company norms. The organization
s demands now dominate the worker: his qualifications have to fit completely to exigencies of the
relevant tasks (EH Bax, 1996). Hence one of the implications is the need to

Development of Systems that Promote Evidence Based Treatments for Trauma Associated with Child

In 2012, a report by the Attorney General s National Task Force on Children Exposed to Violence
indicated that over 46 million children residing in the United States were most likely to have their
lives affected by violence, crime, abuse, or psychological trauma in that year (Klain, White, 2013).
The task force recommended that every concerned group serving children exposed to violence and
mental trauma should establish and provide trauma informed care and trauma focused services to the
affected children. The targeted groups include child welfare system stakeholders, professionals, and

The function of this model is to improve the process of identifying, engaging, and delivering services
to children experiencing trauma by various child welfare systems. The Institute of Healthcare
Improvement (IHI) created this model with the aim of bringing together subject matter professionals
with application experts to help concerned organizations choose, test, and execute changes in direct
service delivery (Grayson, Childress, Baker, Hatchett, 2012). However, most agencies have not been
able to embrace this change hence making it difficult to translate evidence into mental health policy.
Failure to Report Cases of Child Maltreatment
Studies have shown that many people fail to report cases of traumatic childhood events to the
concerned authorities. Such activities include child abuse, violence, and other forms of maltreatment.
Research also shows that the reaction of children to trauma differ depending on the resiliency of the
affected child and his or her age. For instance, preschool and young children may not be in a position
to develop the ability to identify areas where they can find security and thus establish great fear in
response to trauma. Sometimes, the concern can extend beyond the circumstances of the traumatic
event. Also, the caregivers in foster homes may not be in a position to notice any signs of traumatic
stress in the child. Such symptoms that go

Examples Of Peaceful Resistance
AI believe that peaceful resistance to laws positively impacts a free society because it allows people to
say how they feel, and they do not have to go to extreme measures to feel like they are being heard. A
lot of violence that goes on in other countries occurs because the people just want to be heard by their
government and want to have a say. Peaceful resistance has been around since before Mahatma
Gandhi s time, however he strongly believed in it. He believed in peaceful resistance because he
thought that the government would listen more and be more open to change if the people were not

By the people being allowed to peacefully resist government programs or decisions, the people still
feel like they have a say in how the country is run like it was many years ago. Peaceful resistance all
shows others that you do not need to be strong or own a weapon to feel heard. On December 1, 1955,
Rosa Parks made a perfect example of how a peaceful resistance does make a difference. Rosa Parks
refused to give up her seat at the front of the bus for a white man, so she got arrested. Even though she
got arrested for refusing, she showed all the other black people and white people on that bus that she
was not afraid to go to jail for what she believed in. She was not afraid to stand up to two white men
who ordered her to move to the back of the bus. Rosa Parks was very well known after that day
because she used her freedom of speech to say what she wanted and to sit where she wanted to sit. She
did not give in and let the two superior white men bully her into moving to the back. Peaceful
resistance was just starting with Rosa Parks, and it continued for many years and still goes on to this

Frankenstein Parent Child Relationship
Importance of Parent Child Relations Many people are raised without a mother or father and end up
seemingly normal, but they might not be as well off as they seem. The percentage of children younger
than 18 living with two parents has decreased dramatically over the last 40 years (Collins). This shows
that increasingly more children have to get by with only one parent, changing the way they may act
later on in life. It is represented in the books Hamlet by William Shakespeare and Frankenstein by
Mary Shelley that children are modeled after their parents, meaning parents need to give all the help
they can. It is also true that mothers are more confident when in a relationship and will raise their
child better (Collins). This proves that couples ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Xenophon s main reason for disliking Menon was his deceitfulness and dishonest nature: The shortest
road to the achievement of his desires lay he thought through false swearing, lying, and cheating
(Xenophon, 2.6). Xenophon also valued the honesty of Cyrus. He would tell no lies to anyone
(Xenophon, 1.9). Themistocles was also deceitful and willing to do whatever was necessary to
survive, as illustrated by his clever trick in Salamis: so he cast around for a counter stroke and hit
upon his celebrated trick Siccinus (Plutarch ,3.12). Even when Themistocles did not lie outright, he
valued his manipulative powers: Themistocles told them that he had brought two gods, persuasion and
compulsion (Plutarch, 3.21). He used his cunning to get his way, threatening to lie to get the sailors in
trouble if they crossed him: but partly by entreaties and partly by the threat that he would denounce
them to the Athenians and make it appear that they had known all along who he was, but had taken
him on board in the first instance for a bribe, he forced them to stand out to sea and reach the coast of
Asia (Plutarch, 3.25). Themistocles, though brilliant and clever, resorted to lying and manipulation
when honesty was not productive enough, in contrast to the truth telling Cyrus, whom Xenophon

and special effects. While the world he inhabits is in some respects counterfeit, there s nothing fake
about Truman himself. No scripts, no cue cards...It isn t always Shakespeare, but it s genuine. It s a
life (The Truman Show).
Niccol uses Truman Burbank s fear of water as a form of symbolism for Truman s isolation, not only
the physical seclusion of the dome from the outside world but also his feeling of solitude from his
friends and family in the world he thought was real. He, rightfully so, begins to feel like the whole
world is against him and this makes him feel alone. In contrast, Sylvia began to symbolize truth. She
was Truman s light at the end of the tunnel. She was the only real encounter in Truman s life, and this
was huge because she was what motivated him to gather up the courage to search for the truth. His
goal became to ultimately find Sylvia and run away with her to Fiji. This represents his

The Public s Trust Act Of Law Enforcement
Literature Review of Trust
I want to focus on the public s trust in the profession of law enforcement. Law enforcement
administrators are always looking for ways to enhance their departments image to the communities
they serve. This is a tough task because there are many factors that go into the public s perception of
law enforcement. While a local agency may have a good relationship with its community an incident
may happen across the country with the police misconduct and the local agencies reputation is
damaged because of it. Police Officers have accepted a position that holds a great deal of authority and
their actions are performed in the public eye. They are held by their communities to very high
standards, with traits such as honesty, integrity, equity and professionalism being some of the most
important. Every day thousands of police officers throughout the country do their job in a manner that
is exemplary but it takes the actions of just one officer to tarnish all of these good works.
Unfortunately these situations happen too often and seem to be increasing at an alarming rate.
We define trust as a certain belief and a sense of assurance that is based on strong but not logically
conclusive evidence, or based on some ones character, their ability, or truth that someone or something
has shown over a period of time or over experiences (Cambridge, 2015). Trust makes for a sense of
being safe or of being free of fear, enough so that one s focus can be on

Tim Hortons Vs Starbucks
Tim Hortons, Starbucks. Most people have a very strong preference between the two for one reason or
another. What s yours? Hey everyone, today I will be proving to you why Tim Hortons is the
GREATEST (or at least better than Starbucks). And the reasons are simple, Tim Hortons doesn t
charge absurd prices for anything on their menu unlike Starbucks, Tim Hortons has many, many more
options/donuts and the Canadianness that Tim Hortons has. Tim Hortons is the best chain and is
obviously better than Starbucks!
First and Foremost, the value of Tim Hortons vs. Starbucks. The easiest and most popular comparison
is Frappuccino ($3.75) versus the Iced Capp ($2.50). Personally I ve tried both and they taste pretty

The Development Of Carbon Fibre
The Development of Carbon Fibre in Formula 1. What is carbon fibre? Carbon fibre is an extremely
strong material that is also super lightweight. The material has many uses in engineering and design,
and this case study will discuss the advantages and disadvantages. McLaren first introduced carbon
fibre into chassis construction of the MP4 in 1981. Apart from the cars engine, wheel rims and
gearbox, all twenty two Formula 1 cars that competed in the 2014 season bodies, are made of carbon
fibre. [1] Properties of Carbon fibre. Design technicians and engineers love to use carbon fibre in
manufacturing as it has many desirable properties. First of all is its strength. Carbon fibre is five times
stronger than steel and is twice as stiff [2]. The strands of carbon are lined up parallel to each other
when producing a sheet. For maximum results in strength, the fibres must be parallel with the forces
that will act upon that element, this is to make sure it can withstand the forces going through the
object when in use. Carbon fibre is also very lightweight. This property is a huge advantage in car
production. By using carbon fibre instead of steel in building car components reduces the weight of
the car by 60% [2]. In turn, this reduction in weight cuts the car s fuel consumption by 30% and
reduces greenhouse gases and other emissions by 15%[2]. Below shows a detailed table of the
strength to weight ratio of carbon fibre. Carbon fibre also shows that it is a leading 21st

Effects Of Plastic Surgery On The Eye Of The Beholder
It has been stated that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It s also been stated that beauty is only skin
deep. While each statement holds valuable substance, perhaps beauty being in the eye of the beholder
holds more influence in today s society. The obsession of physical beauty, according to the media, has
plastic surgery on an all time high, and is more popular than ever. While plastic surgery is growing in
popularity, it needs to be assessed more carefully. Social media and other factors in the media
indirectly capture the attention and rising rate of plastic surgery. In order to understand the full impact
on how detrimental plastic surgery really is, it will be necessary to look at the negative impact that it
can cause in an individual s life. The most obvious issue associated with plastic surgery includes the
unnecessary risk that many are willing to take despite the serious impact it poses to their physical
health. However, the disadvantages of plastic surgery which includes the dangerous risks of it, a desire
to be accepted by society, health and psychological factors, and financial burdens are much more than
the advantages. Because of issues such as low self esteem and a desperate need for social acceptance,
the demand for plastic surgery remains at a high rate despite all of its associated risks and
controversies (Cope, 2007). There are many risks and negative factors surrounding plastic surgery.
Beauty is often associated with a textbook

Frankenstein Book Cover Analysis
The first new cover I created for Frankenstein depicts Frankenstein s monster floating off the coast of
Ireland after murdering Henry Clerval. I chose to portray this scene because the death of Clerval and
the events leading up to it (namely Victor ultimately refusing to create a female partner for the
creature) are pivotal moments in the story. They mark the beginning of the bloodthirsty war of revenge
between Victor and the creature, which results in the death of both the book s main protagonist and
antagonist. The cover also displays the two parts of the creature s character; the solid black silhouette,
sitting stall and unfazed after killing Henry represents the part that seeks revenge against his creator
and mankind, while the reflection

The Current Governor Of Texas
The Constitution divides the powers of the government of the State into three distinct departments: the
legislative, the executive and the judicial. Under the terms of the Constitution, no person in any one
department may exercise any power attached to another department unless specifically authorized to
do so by the Constitution.
First is the executive branch. The executive branch is often referred to as a plural executive because
many of the offices in that branch of government are elected directly by Texas voters. The Executive
Department of the State is composed of the Governor, the Lieutenant Governor, the Comptroller of
Public Accounts, the Commissioner of the General Land Office, the Attorney General and the
Secretary of State, all of whom are elected except the Secretary of State (who is appointed by the
Governor). The current governor of Texas (48th) is Republican Greg Abbott, a former lawyer and
former Attorney General. In order to be the governor of Texas, one must be at least 30 years of age, a
US citizen, a registered voter, and must be living in Texas for at least the last 5 years. Being Governor

White Noise Satire
Don Delillo utilizes satire of the postmodern novel to critique issues which continue to plague
American society. Although Don Delillo s novel White Noise is complex and full of implicit meaning,
the protagonist Jack Gladney communicates the central idea of the narrative, All plots tend to move
deathward. This is the nature of plots (Delillo 26) . The novel does not take on a linear storyline for
most of the novel but there is more impact in its collection of vignettes. The majority of the novel
portrays Jack s daily routine which effectively illustrates the pervasive nature of the materialistic
society Delillo creates. The activities Jack s family engage in, from grocery shopping to family
dinners gives them the appearance that their thoughts and experiences are that of most families. ...

It s the newness that Luhrmann seems to bring to his movies, most notably Moulin Rouge and Romeo

interesting to look at the last classic work he adapted, the 1996 Leo DiCaprio/Claire Danes feature

does, reimagining the story in a contemporary setting, and they re met with varying degrees of
success. Even stranger is Luhrmann s word for word retention of the Shakespearean dialogue,
resulting in a bizarre juxtaposition of old language and new technology and surroundings. This is also
kind of the perfect story for Luhrmann s attitude. There s

physically and mentally fit while others are not lucky in this regard. The ones who are having any kind
of disability are considered as special and that is why special treatment should be given to them so that
they can be able to live their lives in an adequate manner. The disable persons especially children tend
to face so many problems. If the child is deaf then he will have to face harsh behavior of the other
children because neither he is able to express what he wants to say nor he is able to understand what
others are saying. This document deals with the problems of Michael who is a five years old child and
is having a hearing impairment problem. The document will discuss those strategies which are

economists from Iowa stating that while going forth with the plan will create $692 million in

Application Of An Artificial Neural Network Essay
We have the previous workload information so we trained that workload information. First we
normalize the value of the workload information by using the formula Where, M = is the maximum
value along the particular column, X= is the maximum value along the particular column, Q= is the
original value. Q =is the normalized value. After Normalized the value we design an artificial neural
network. 3.1 Artificial neural network In this structure of ANN we use the one input layer, one or
more hidden layer, and one output layer. That structure we call MLP (multiple layer perceptron). On
the input layer we use input layer 5 neurons. On the first hidden layer we are using the 5 neurons. And
on the second hidden layer we use the 10 neurons. On the output layer we use the one neurons that
predict the future load.NOW we train the workload information by using the Artificial neural network
i.e. MLP structure. To Train the workload information aim is to find the set of weight values that will
cause the output from the ANN to match to the target values as closely as possible. There several
issues are arising when we train the neural network. First is selecting the number of hidden layer and
neurons how much are used on the hidden layer. Second is to avoid the local minima and finding the
globally optimal solution. To training the work load information first we need to divide the workload
information. How much workload information is used to train? How much workload information for

Happellate Court Cases
One aspect of the American judicial process about which consensus exists is that every loser in a trial
at court has the right to appeal to a higher court. But, sometimes the appeal process is misunderstood.
In the U.S. an appeal is not a retrial of the case, nor its ordinarily a reexamination of true issues
concluded by a trial court. The U.S. appellate courts does not hear a new testimony and does not
consider new evidence, they mainly focus on how the decision was made in the trial court record.
Their mainly goal is primarily to review the issue of law presented in a case. An appellate court was
created in part because of the theory that it is better to have several heads when it comes to examining
legal questions. In effect, the decisions of a single judge matters of the law are forced to be reviewed
by a panel of judges who are taken away from the heat grown by the trial and are positioned to take a
more overview of the legal questions being raised. They control the functioning as multi member or
collegial bodies, with decisions made by a group of judges. In the courts, usually all the judges
participate in all cases in appellate courts the decisions are made up of using three judge panels, but in
important cases, all the judges may have to participate or referred to an en banc hearing. Finally, the
complexities of the review process, helps by asking why appellate courts exist and why dissatisfied
litigants are able to appeal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Importance Of Crime And Punishment
The system is wrong and different from us. There are many ways to reason through the correct course
of action involving human punishment for crime. Crime is considered negative in society. During
biblical times crime is not only affected society, but it was believed to have also been directed towards
God himself. The Bible is the oldest book to reference with many directives to living life peacefully
and without revenge (StudyMode crime and punishment). The problems arise when the time comes to
punish a criminal. There are disagreements over the severity of a crime, the mentality of the criminal,
and the correct penalty that should result from that crime among other things. Immanuel Kant has a
few fundamental ideas about how society should think and behave. Among his ideas is the way to deal
with crime and approach punishment. Kant believed in the idea of Retributivism. He felt that one
should pay for the crime that they committed in a way equivalent to the crime, whereas like the nation
of Seecebeesia utilitarian may also take the position that criminals should be rehabilitated rather than
necessarily punished for the crime, since many criminals have a questionable state of mind (2008,
Philosophical Approach to Crime and Punishment). Also in the bible Matthew 5:38 states, You have
heard that it has been said, eye for eye and tooth for tooth . It explains that the punishment should fit
the crime. If criminals know that there is going to be a punishment, and what that

Factors Affecting The Environment Of A Watershed
Introduction: Environmental issues caused by such human activities as farming, agriculture and
infrastructural development can negatively affect the abiotic factors of the local environment. This can
disturb water equilibrium and pose implications on the biodiversity of a watershed. Various forms of
pollution, including runoff and erosion, can interfere with the health of its aquatic habitats. The
purpose of this lab report is to observe to what extent the abiotic factors of Yellow Creek correspond
with the health status of its ecosystem. This will be done by comparing the levels of turbidity and
acidity and the corresponding level of impairment to four other water streams in the greater Toronto
area.
Research Question: How can the abiotic factors of a watershed such as acidity and turbidity indicate
the health of Yellow Creek?
Background information: Abiotic factors are nonliving, physical and chemical aspects of the
environment. (Rutherford, 2015) The pH level is a quantitative measure of the hydrogen ions
representing the acidity or alkalinity of a water solution. Aquatic life prefer water that has an acidic
level of around 6.5 8.5 pH. pH levels higher than 8.5 become highly basic, while pH levels below 6.5
become highly acidic for water quality. This does not allow the species to regulate basic life sustaining
processes, primarily the exchanges of respiratory gases and salts within the water in which they live.

Light effects on Circadian Rhythm Most human beings have a built in clock in their brains that

According to Michael Seville, a writer for Eutopia Magazine, ... parental involvement is a key
ingredient in how well a student learns. The idea of parental involvement in their school is not a
concept exclusive to charter schools. There are many traditional public schools that are launching
programs to do just that. In Saratoga, California, an elementary school has made it mandatory for
parents to volunteer and attend a seven session STEP (Systemic Training for Effective Parenting)
class. This class is designed to help improve the parent s usefulness when they appear in class.
According to the principal of the McAuliffe Elementary, Michael Kalb, even single working parents
are able to find a few hours a month to help out, even if it is in the evening. Since the inception of this
program, teachers have noticed more cooperative behavior of their students and a willingness that was
not present before. These types of programs could be and should be incorporated into any traditional
public school in any part of the country and would create a synergy within the school of parents,
teachers, and students. Another concept that advocates of charter schools embrace is the involvement
of the local community in the school. Charter schools are often subsidized financially by local
businesses and organizations that in turn benefit from the sense of investment in their community. This

section is about Bella s wedding and honeymoon. The second is how Jacob loves Bella but cannot
have her. The last section is Bella s fear for losing her family. The important parts from Breaking
Dawn of the story will be told from the way Stephanie Meyer. The first book starts as any good love
story series should end with the wedding. Bella was not fond of getting married until she saw Edward
at the pulpit waiting for her. The wedding was spectacular. The wedding guest all showed and then
Jacob came to surprise the bride with a dance. Bella and Jacob began to talk about the after math of

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Hot Stamping
Introduction Hot stamping (HS) is an advanced manufacturing technology which processes high
strength part like steel at high temperatures by forging and treated by rapid cooling rate in dies. By
using hot stamping process can save a large number of equipment fees and get a good performance,
for it combines forming and hardening processes in one step. As the high strength material has very
good formability at high temperatures, it is achievable that complex shapes can be formed in one
single operation. In the meantime, as the part is kept in the die during the whole cooling time,
springback can be eliminated. [1] Recently, hot stamping is widely used in manufacturing area,
especially in automotive industry. One representative example is to meet the demand of reducing
weight of car body by using higher strength and thinner material. In order to achieve this goal, some
disadvantages must take into account like some high strength material always lead to reduced
formability and then ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Imperfection sites are most favorable positions for these nuclei formation, for example, dislocations,
vacancies and grain boundaries. The second stage is that the nuclei grows into a new grain. The
volume of the parent phase will decrease during the new phase growth. Two types of transformation
are distinguished macroscopically: diffusion controlled and diffusion less/displacive. The biggest
difference of these two reactions are according to the kinetics of the transformation. As to diffusional
controlled transformation, reaction needs some time, however, the displacive reaction takes no time
which can be considered as instantaneous displacement in the crystal lattice. Austenite will decompose
into different product phases during the cooling process. The kinetics of transformation and type will
depend on chemical composition of material, deformation history, grain size and cooling

  • 2. Working Out Hypothesis **Title** We constructed a top down hypothesis that people exhibit an increase in their performance level when working out in the presence of others as opposed to working out alone. To test our hypothesis, we questioned 12 males and 12 females that are between the ages of 18 and 24, and are frequent gym goers. We asked them whether or not they preferred to work out in front of other others, or if they would rather work out alone, and why. We formatted this question in a standard text message that we sent out to eight people each. In order to duplicate these findings, there are a few design features that should be present. First, the individuals must attend a gym or workout class on a regular basis (about 2 3 times per week). Also, on top of this, they must have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... High testosterone levels are not necessarily great for a man health wise. However, the men with these high levels are the ones that are the highest performers in the gym. The theory of intrasexual competition involves an individual out competing other individuals of the same sex. The same concept works in reverse for women. If they look like the most physically fit female, more men will want them. Another theory in psychology that this relates to is the imaginary audience theory. This theory involves an individual having an egotistic belief that people around them are watching them and their every move. In order for an individual to feel the need to out perform another, they must believe that others are watching ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The System Of Criminal Trial Essay 4.6(2) Adversary system The system of criminal trial as mentioned or directed by the Code is the adversary system based on the accusatorial method . In this system the prosecutor representing the State (or the people) accuses the defendant (the accused person) of the commission of some crime; and the law requires him to prove his case beyond reasonable doubt. The law also provides fair opportunity to the accused person to defend himself. The judge, more or less, is to work as an umpire between the two contestants. Challenge constitutes the essence of adversary trial and truth is supposed to emerge from the controverted facts through effective and constant challenges . Experience has shown that adversary is by and large dependable for the reconciliation of public and private interest i.e. public interest in punishing the criminals and private interest in preventing wrongful convictions. 4.6(3) Section 304 of Code of Criminal Procedure: Legal aid to accused at State expense in certain cases: Most of the accused persons are poor and uneducated. They cannot afford to engage lawyers for their defence, nor do they have any legal knowledge and professional skill to safeguard their interests themselves. • 6. Anatomy And Physiology That Affect Snakes Snakes tend to differ significantly from other terrestrial vertebrates due to their lack of any appendages. Although such a characteristic would appear to be of a significant disadvantage on land, snakes have managed to secure themselves a variety of niches and adaptations. The elongated body gave many snakes the ability to strangle their prey and easily inhabit aquatic and nonaquatic environments alike. Some snakes have also been able to climb trees and managed to out speed or compete with animals with limbs. The specific locomotion of snakes can thus be a potentially important indicator of ecological differences between species [7]. Understanding the ways that snakes move helps us understand the types of factors responsible for their form, while giving insight into inventing machines and instruments that can use this motion for everyday use. This paper will look at the specifics and varieties of snake locomotion, while touching on some of the factors like anatomy and physiology that affect snakes survival. Understanding the origins of snakes and their iconic locomotion have been previously poorly understood [1]. Accurate conclusions about the development of the snakes elongated, legless shape [were] hindered by the relative lack of informative fossils of early stem snakes [1]. Despite this, questions concerning the origin of their anatomy are usually narrowed down to two different environmental influences: either 1) aquatic life or 2) fossorial life. Both ... • 9. The Pursuit Of Truth By Willard Van Orman Quine Published in 1982, Willard Van Orman Quine wrote an epistemological book title, The Pursuit of Truth. Quine ranges from different aspect, from evidence to reference, in his quest to gain epistemological truth from science. This is a short summary of the book s contents then the latter half of the paper is critique and review of the book and Quine s points within. In the first chapter Quine, deals with the evidence and all things pertaining to it. He starts the chapter with the point that evidence is based on sensory experience and that this combined with past experiences can predict evidence of new things based on past experience, much like memory. He then talks about what he calls observation sentences, this is the statement of evidence itself. Next, Quine gets into how his definition of observation sentences is different than that of others who have defined it. This is really big to Quine and it sets up a lot of what he works with. Quine then discuss observation categoricals, which he says are test in pairs of observation. Next in the chapter is holism, which is the theory that parts of a whole are in interconnection, such that they can t be understood without reference to the whole, which is then regarded as greater than the sum of its parts. Quine then ends his firster chapter with the talk of empirical content and norms and aims. Quine, in the section of norms and aims, discusses the relationship between naturalized epistemology and traditional epistemology. Quine s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The feminist lens is the most useful to the audience in understanding the themes and motifs in the Handmaid s tale because it reflects on how women interact within a population, the effect of language that is used to address women, and how the theory of oppression of women is deeply rooted in society. Names carry an infinite amount of information that Atwood wants the audience to realize is often overlooked; factors such as the individual s origin, information about their family, gender, and potentially their culture, commonly serve as the precursor for humans to predict how their interactions with one another will go. The language that Gilead uses to categorize and identify people within its society breaks unity among members, and completely changes the meaning and value of the word feminine . Addressing the females that are no longer able to reproduce as unwomen gives Gilead the power to take the only thing that remains to bond them. While it is not uncommon for different cultures to have varying views about how women interact within their civilizations, the officials of Gilead almost completely remove women as members of society. Atwood wisely uses names as a tool to connect with the audience because the use of names is a fundamental element of society that occurs routinely and at a high frequency. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) preserves the plantation system, providing the rules that protect the interests of the individual plantation overseers. In other words, men played an essential gender role and controlled people all around the world. Obviously, most leaders were males, and there were more male bosses than female`s in companies. This unequal social injustice has existed all around the world, especially in the Dominican Republic. In this country, men always thought the only responsibility of women was staying at home and taking care of the whole family. Hence, HR Managers are faced with new challenges arising out of globalization, as they are saddled with the responsibility of implementing adaptable strategies to the concept of flexibility, and to remain abreast with the changing times. The increased power of market forces, the globalization of business and the associated de institutionalization of the business firm s internal industrial relations have implied that the meaning of the firm as a social group has been reduced to a social collectively in which instrumental rationality and efficiency as defined by management have become the dominant norms. Economies than can improve their competitiveness by de institutionalizing their markets, notably by increasing the flexibility of the labour market and by decreasing the costs of labour by breaking down all kinds of institutional arrangements like social security provisions and workers rights. (EH Bax, 1996) Modern HRM is not only about selecting and recruiting people for specific job structures but also taking up the responsibility of the designing and re designing of these job structures as per the market and changing company norms. • 24. The Public s Trust Act Of Law Enforcement Literature Review of Trust I want to focus on the public s trust in the profession of law enforcement. Law enforcement administrators are always looking for ways to enhance their departments image to the communities they serve. This is a tough task because there are many factors that go into the public s perception of law enforcement. While a local agency may have a good relationship with its community an incident may happen across the country with the police misconduct and the local agencies reputation is damaged because of it. Police Officers have accepted a position that holds a great deal of authority and their actions are performed in the public eye. They are held by their communities to very high standards, with traits such as honesty, integrity, equity and professionalism being some of the most important. Every day thousands of police officers throughout the country do their job in a manner that is exemplary but it takes the actions of just one officer to tarnish all of these good works. Unfortunately these situations happen too often and seem to be increasing at an alarming rate. We define trust as a certain belief and a sense of assurance that is based on strong but not logically conclusive evidence, or based on some ones character, their ability, or truth that someone or something has shown over a period of time or over experiences (Cambridge, 2015). The material has many uses in engineering and design, and this case study will discuss the advantages and disadvantages. McLaren first introduced carbon fibre into chassis construction of the MP4 in 1981. Apart from the cars engine, wheel rims and gearbox, all twenty two Formula 1 cars that competed in the 2014 season bodies, are made of carbon fibre. [1] Properties of Carbon fibre. Design technicians and engineers love to use carbon fibre in manufacturing as it has many desirable properties. First of all is its strength. Carbon fibre is five times stronger than steel and is twice as stiff [2]. The strands of carbon are lined up parallel to each other when producing a sheet. For maximum results in strength, the fibres must be parallel with the forces that will act upon that element, this is to make sure it can withstand the forces going through the object when in use. Carbon fibre is also very lightweight. This property is a huge advantage in car production. By using carbon fibre instead of steel in building car components reduces the weight of the car by 60% [2]. In turn, this reduction in weight cuts the car s fuel consumption by 30% and reduces greenhouse gases and other emissions by 15%[2]. However, the disadvantages of plastic surgery which includes the dangerous risks of it, a desire to be accepted by society, health and psychological factors, and financial burdens are much more than the advantages. Because of issues such as low self esteem and a desperate need for social acceptance, the demand for plastic surgery remains at a high rate despite all of its associated risks and controversies (Cope, 2007). There are many risks and negative factors surrounding plastic surgery. Beauty is often associated with a textbook ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Frankenstein Book Cover Analysis The first new cover I created for Frankenstein depicts Frankenstein s monster floating off the coast of Ireland after murdering Henry Clerval. I chose to portray this scene because the death of Clerval and the events leading up to it (namely Victor ultimately refusing to create a female partner for the creature) are pivotal moments in the story. They mark the beginning of the bloodthirsty war of revenge between Victor and the creature, which results in the death of both the book s main protagonist and antagonist. The cover also displays the two parts of the creature s character; the solid black silhouette, sitting stall and unfazed after killing Henry represents the part that seeks revenge against his creator and mankind, while the reflection ... In calibrating our expectations for Gatsby, it s interesting to look at the last classic work he adapted, the 1996 Leo DiCaprio/Claire Danes feature based on the Shakespearean play. A lot of adaptations of Shakespeare s work try to do what Luhrmann does, reimagining the story in a contemporary setting, and they re met with varying degrees of success. Even stranger is Luhrmann s word for word retention of the Shakespearean dialogue, resulting in a bizarre juxtaposition of old language and new technology and surroundings. After Normalized the value we design an artificial neural network. 3.1 Artificial neural network In this structure of ANN we use the one input layer, one or more hidden layer, and one output layer. That structure we call MLP (multiple layer perceptron). On the input layer we use input layer 5 neurons. On the first hidden layer we are using the 5 neurons. To Train the workload information aim is to find the set of weight values that will cause the output from the ANN to match to the target values as closely as possible. There several issues are arising when we train the neural network. First is selecting the number of hidden layer and neurons how much are used on the hidden layer. Second is to avoid the local minima and finding the globally optimal solution. To training the work load information first we need to divide the workload information. • 41. Happellate Court Cases One aspect of the American judicial process about which consensus exists is that every loser in a trial at court has the right to appeal to a higher court. But, sometimes the appeal process is misunderstood. In the U.S. an appeal is not a retrial of the case, nor its ordinarily a reexamination of true issues concluded by a trial court. The U.S. appellate courts does not hear a new testimony and does not consider new evidence, they mainly focus on how the decision was made in the trial court record. Their mainly goal is primarily to review the issue of law presented in a case. An appellate court was created in part because of the theory that it is better to have several heads when it comes to examining legal questions. In effect, the decisions of a single judge matters of the law are forced to be reviewed by a panel of judges who are taken away from the heat grown by the trial and are positioned to take a more overview of the legal questions being raised. They control the functioning as multi member or collegial bodies, with decisions made by a group of judges. In the courts, usually all the judges participate in all cases in appellate courts the decisions are made up of using three judge panels, but in important cases, all the judges may have to participate or referred to an en banc hearing. Crime is considered negative in society. During biblical times crime is not only affected society, but it was believed to have also been directed towards God himself. The Bible is the oldest book to reference with many directives to living life peacefully and without revenge (StudyMode crime and punishment). The problems arise when the time comes to punish a criminal. There are disagreements over the severity of a crime, the mentality of the criminal, and the correct penalty that should result from that crime among other things. Immanuel Kant has a few fundamental ideas about how society should think and behave. Among his ideas is the way to deal with crime and approach punishment. Kant believed in the idea of Retributivism. He felt that one should pay for the crime that they committed in a way equivalent to the crime, whereas like the nation of Seecebeesia utilitarian may also take the position that criminals should be rehabilitated rather than necessarily punished for the crime, since many criminals have a questionable state of mind (2008, Philosophical Approach to Crime and Punishment). Factors Affecting The Environment Of A Watershed Introduction: Environmental issues caused by such human activities as farming, agriculture and infrastructural development can negatively affect the abiotic factors of the local environment. This can disturb water equilibrium and pose implications on the biodiversity of a watershed. Various forms of pollution, including runoff and erosion, can interfere with the health of its aquatic habitats. The purpose of this lab report is to observe to what extent the abiotic factors of Yellow Creek correspond with the health status of its ecosystem. This will be done by comparing the levels of turbidity and acidity and the corresponding level of impairment to four other water streams in the greater Toronto area. Research Question: How can the abiotic factors of a watershed such as acidity and turbidity indicate the health of Yellow Creek? Background information: Abiotic factors are nonliving, physical and chemical aspects of the environment. (Rutherford, 2015) The pH level is a quantitative measure of the hydrogen ions representing the acidity or alkalinity of a water solution. Aquatic life prefer water that has an acidic level of around 6.5 8.5 pH. pH levels higher than 8.5 become highly basic, while pH levels below 6.5 become highly acidic for water quality. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Hot Stamping Introduction Hot stamping (HS) is an advanced manufacturing technology which processes high strength part like steel at high temperatures by forging and treated by rapid cooling rate in dies. By using hot stamping process can save a large number of equipment fees and get a good performance, for it combines forming and hardening processes in one step. As the high strength material has very good formability at high temperatures, it is achievable that complex shapes can be formed in one single operation. In the meantime, as the part is kept in the die during the whole cooling time, springback can be eliminated.
