Obergefell Vs. Hodges Case
Same sex marriage has always been a sore spot in American Politics. Republicans used the
religion card as the stanzas for disapproval, while Democrats fought to allow the freedom to love
who we love in this world. The Obergefell vs. Hodges case legalized same sex marriage
throughout all fifty states. The fight to legalize same sex marriagehad been ongoing since the early
nineties. With the right to for lasting legal bonds until and after death do them part, questions
remain. What made this case so much more effective than those that proceeded it? In what ways
are the right to marry whom we want being protected? And with the current elected officials, will
this ruling stand or be overturned? The Obergefell vs. Hodges case originated with a same sex
couple in Cincinnati, Ohio who faced the grueling facts of a terminal illness. John Arthur,... Show

This being said the court could have taken another route to answer a completely different
question, if the Constitution doesn t require states to grant marriage licenses to same sex
couples, does it at least require every state to recognize same sex marriages consecrated in
another state? (Teicholz 1) . This questioned seemed to have more fluidity to it instead of
granting total upscale domination to states not yet pardoning same sex marriage. If the officials
were to have gone this route, couples of same sexes orientation who married in a state that
allowed for a legal marriage yet lived in one that didn t, the state of residence would at least have
to acknowledge the marriage as binding and legal. With time this idea would have allowed for
slow acceptance for conservative based states to come to terms with the idea of legal marriage
between same sex partners. It would also give Obergefell the ability to be placed on his deceased
husband s death certificate. With the gravity of both answers the court still dragged

Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a psychological disorder that can develop after someone
has experienced or been exposed to a trauma or life threatening event, such as warfare, a natural
disaster, a violent attack or sexual assault, as well as the sudden death of a loved one. Most people
who experience these traumas recover from them but someone who continues to experience anxiety
and depression may have developed post traumatic stress disorder.
Symptoms can start at any time after the traumatic event, from within the first month to several
years after. These symptoms can interfere with a person s ability to go about their daily life affecting

The Beatific Vision In St. Paul s Analysis
Presocratic philosophers in their search for the truth caught glimpses of divinity and of eternal
life. This search culminates in Socrates, who through his lifelong search for truth gains an image
of the soul and eternal life similar to the Catholic concept of eternal life. In the Phaedrus, Socrates
says that when all divine souls go to feast at the banquet (Phaedrus 247b), they ascend to a place
beyond heaven to gaze upon a supreme divine being. Similarly, In his letter to the Hebrews, St.
Paul speaks about the mass a copy of the heavenly sanctuary the beatific vision. Socrates, through
natural revelation, grasped at an image of the divine and the beatific vision which is only fully
revealed through divine revelation. Every artist... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He saw the things of divinity, beauty, wisdom, and goodness, as nourishment of the souland a guide
towards the beatific vision. Likewise, the New Testament shows the beauty, wisdom and goodness
in the mass as a mirror of eternal life. Combined, the natural philosophy and divine revelation paint
a pure picture of eternal life. Plato could get to an imperfect description of the divine which
Christianity is certain of through the mass and divine revelation. The mass, because it was given
by divine revelation and is linked with the beatific vision is a more perfect view of it. Since the
mass is a shadow of the beatific vision. Then what can be said about cavalry, which is the fullness
of mass. How does cavalry relate to the fullness of the beatific

Ancient Egyptian Perfume
Perfumes have been used for over 5,000 years. It is believed that the ancient Egyptian s were the
first to incorporate perfume into their culture. The Egyptians believed that the perfume was from
the sweat of their sun god, Ra. Originally perfume (fragrances) were made from a combination of
plant or animal products and rich oils. From Egypt perfumespread to other locations including
Rome and Greece. Perfume was also widely prized in ancient China and Iran, although the Chinese
used the scent in the form of an incense. Archaeologists have found evidence of perfume s use

Remnants of the perfumes were found inside an ancient 3,230 square foot (300 square meter)
factory was part of a larger industrial complex at Pyrgos. The buildings were destroyed during an
earthquake in 1850 B.C., but perfume bottles, mixing jugs, and stills were preserved under the
collapsed walls. (Roach, 2007).
Tapputi was the world s first recorded chemist mentioned in a cuneiform tablet from the 2nd
millennium BC as a perfume maker. She distilled flowers, oil, and calamus along with other
aromatics then filtered them and put them back in the still several times. Arabian chemists Al Kindi
and Jabir ibn Hayyan are credited with establishing the perfume industry. Jabir invented and
developed techniques used for distillation, evaporation and filtration. The real founder of the
perfume industry goes to Al Kindi though as he carried out extensive research and experiments
using plants and other sources to produce many varieties of scented products. He also wrote a book
on perfumes in the 9th century. It is the Book of the Chemistry of Perfume and Distillations and it
contains more than 100 different recipes for oils, salves, aromatic water and substitutes.
Although the Egyptians are given credit for the origin of perfume perfume slowly spread
throughout the world. It wasn t until 1190 that perfume began to be produced commercial in Paris.
France became the perfume capital of the world and it developed into a massive industry.

Repression Of Memories In Lila Wingo s The Prince Of Tides
Memory is the faculty by which the mind stores and remembers information. In times of trauma
the mind has been known to do immaculate things, in particular repressing memories. In the
culture of the south is infamous for the repressing of memories, the civil war for example. The
culture as a whole is known for trying to suppress and ignore the things that cause it distress or
simply just want to ignore. In The Prince of Tides the repression of memories plays a crucial part
in the novel. The repression of memories sheds light on the tragic culture of the south and how
family secrets can have damaging effects that repression can do to the psyche of the mind.
Throughout the novel each character reveals a more about the repression of memories in a southern
culture and how it can impact a person
First, Lila is one of the prominent examples of denial and an outside physical force of repression
in the novel. Lila herself from the beginning does not like to remember or would not like to
remember certain things, her actual up bringing being one of them. From Tom s perspective, we
learn about his mother s affliction of re writing the past. In chapter eleven we are made aware of
her lie about her origins. Lila Wingo grew up in the mountains of Georgia with a mean father
who died of cirrhosis of the liver when she was twelve. Her mother worked nights in a textile
factory and died of brown lung when Lila was sixteen. However stated in a previous chapter Lila
said that her parents

Now, having not seen the performance myself, I must reserve full judgement of it s content, and
relativeness to feminism. Although having read Matheson s review I can say this much.
Lexie Matheson asks the interesting question of whether we really belong to this conversation. As I
believe she is a transgender women? Obviously the answer is yes, that everyone is included in the
discussion of feminism, as someone who has benefitted from the patriarchy most of their lives, the
discussion is one that I take part in but am incredibly wary of, for I don t wish to offend or
accidentally misrepresent the subject.
Clare Croft s article talks about the physical responses to prompts, as she removes the word girl
from rehearsals and gives them words such as bossy or scarred. With this she achieves a less
hetero normative performance as it removed the idea s of femineity and gender. She also talks of the
loudness of the male actors in comparison to the females, and how it draws the eye away. This is
one way in which IF THERE S NOT DANCING AT THE REVOLUTION, I M NOT COMING...

This is a blatant representation of feminism saying, look here! These parts shouldn t be wrong.
This is, in my opinion, correct as well. As a patriarchal society we have made so much of the
female body an object of desire, but also rude, in human history that we now have a problem
viewing a naked figure. This also reflects things such as the Free the Nipple! movement of late.
Matheson also touches upon this point saying that it is a gesture of trust offering your naked body

Attending the psychology lecture has been an interesting experience for me, which I learn about
different psychological theories explaining how our behaviors and thoughts are changing by the
surrounding stimuli and factors. While I attain the theoretical knowledge, I also understand the
important to convert this knowledge into daily applications. Among the theories I have learnt in the

somehow relate it to myself and the psychological development of my little brother. Moreover, it
seems a more controversial theory when compare to other psychologyperspective.

Political Regimes And Degree Of Pluralism
Introduction
The decolonization process after the Second World War brought a new hope for a more democratic
world. In Africa, however, the process did not provide the results expected by the West as most of
the African states turned rapidly into various forms of authoritarian regimes with only a few
adopting more democratic rule. Reasons for that are manifold. Authoritarianism, in the African
context, is defined by a lack of state and ruling elites capacity to transform [...] power into
effective political, economic, and cultural policies thus undermining the presence of an
overarching authority and being often, but not always, repressive (Fatton Jr, 1988, p. 255). The
differences in political regimes and degree of pluralism can be analysed during the transition
period in early post independence years, determined by ways in which leaders centralized power
differently across Africa (Bratton Van der Walle, 1994, p. 468). While some argue that colonial
legacies have laid the ground for the prevalence of authoritarianism after independence, others
would see this explanation as reductionist and simplistic, failing to consider other historical, social
and cultural aspects. This essay will review some of the structural limitations that emerged in the
colonial period and were reinforced by other factors such as the international environment and
informal politics, upholding authoritarian practices and corruption across almost all of the Sub
Saharan Africa (SSA). First, I will

Dancing As A World That Did Not Know Dancing Essay
Can you image a world that did not know dancing? When I asked this question to my friends, one of
them answered, how can we have fun without dancing? People dance when they feel comfortable,
and they also can dance when having fun because people, as human beings, have known
instinctively that dancing with rhythm makes them happy. It is interesting that people all already
know how to dance. However, we might not have an idea why people know how to dance, and
where the pleasant feelings that you can get due to dance came from. Without a doubt, dancing
was fundamentally not made in the 21st century. It was made and built by ancient people before
the birth of the earliest human civilizations. Dance does not leave behind clearly identifiable
physical artifacts such as stone tools, hunting implements, or cave paintings ( Champion and
Thomas, 2). People have danced to pray and communicate with god, and these dances also have
been an important part of ceremonies, rituals, celebrations, and entertainment. Even though time
passed since dancing began, dance is always about communication among people, and they are
required several kinds of dance style to show their expression. One of the dances which people
have handed down from the ancient times is folk dance. Folk dance is a form of dance developed
by a group of people that reflects the traditional life of the people of a certain country or region.
Besides, folk dances, unlike most other dance forms, tend to have stringent rules,

Interaction of Mythology, Religion, and the Supernatural Hamlet is considered the most popular

traditional styles, thus evident in his writings. It describes the tragedy of Prince Hamlet, the
protagonist, whose father is murdered by his uncle, Claudius, who then marries his mother,
Gertrude. This not only ends up in the tragic loss of his father but also results in the prevention of
his rise to the throne. On a dark wintry night, the ghostof King Hamletappears and reveals to Prince

Religion s critical role as a motivating factor for the characters can be evidenced by the fact that
it is referred to in multiple instances in the play. When Horatio sees the Ghost, and says, Before
my God, I might not this believe/ Without the sensible and true avouch/Of my own eyes (A 1, S

another occasion, Hamlet utters the most famous one from a soliloquy, To be, or not to be, that is
the question (Act 3 Scene 1 line 65). Throughout the play, Hamlet remains depressed and harbors
the thoughts of committing suicide. However, it is the Catholic beliefs that prevent him from
practicing it. This faith s belief that suicide is a sin deters him from acting out his desire, which is
a major component that determines the story s progress. The story will have turned out differently

(Burmenskaya 389). Attachments can also create success when parents help their children form self
worth, empathy, and autonomy first at birth, and can continue as they grow. Burmenskaya s article
continues to expound on the idea that parents need to create an attachment not just from the time
their child is born, but as he/she continues to grow, because this influences the child s personality.
For example, We saw the advantage of attachment system in the fact that psychological education
integrates the experience of the child s close interactions beginning from infancy in a concentrated
way, and on the other hand, it is connected directly with emotional / personality sphere

1. About Pizza Hut
On June 15th, 1958, two brothers opened the first Pizza Hut restaurant in Wichita, Kansas (U.S.)
by purchasing second hand equipment and renting a small building on a busy cross road. The
concept was relatively new at the time and the brothers quickly saw the potential of this new
enterprise. A short time later, they begun to open new restaurants and developed schedules for
franchised outlets. Their chain started growing up very fast, ten years later Pizza Hut Inc. counted
almost 300 restaurants. In 1986, it had 5,025 domestic units and annual sales of almost $2 billion.
Half of the outlets were franchised. A Pizza Hut restaurant is characterized by a particular
freestanding design with a prominent red roof. The restaurants are full service, eat in/carryout with
about 60 to 90 seatings, open from 11 a.m. to midnight. Pizza HutВґs franchisees have special rights
to most of the smaller company owned outlets stand in metropolitan with a high population density.

It seems that no one really understands us. By us I mean the people who live every day in fear of
starving or freezing to death. People walk past us on the streets and comment on how sick we
look, but they do nothing to help! They think that if they give us money we will just spend it on
alcohol, cigarettes, or drugs. They don t understand that we are scared, scared of dying, and scared
of having nothing to live for.
I only have one thing to live for, my younger brother. I am responsible for taking care of him
because i was the one who convinced him to run away from the orphanage with me. The way we
have been living is hard, but we manage. I leave him every day at 8 o clock in the morning to go

The Salmonidae family is a variety of coldwater fish species that are primarily found in bodies of
water where cold temperatures are maintained. Like all other species in the Salmonidae family, the
trout is one species that require special care and parameters to secure its level of fitness and
survival. Trout Unlimited is an organization that works cooperatively with Pennsylvania s Fish and
Boat Commission to protect and manage the streams, in which the trout occupy. The three utmost

The average temperature was approximately 9.67 C. The temperature of the water is
significantly impacted by the amount of cool wind the area receives, the amount of sunlight,
and the time of year in which the temperature was measured. These factors allow for the water to
maintain significantly cooler throughout the year. Also affected by wind are the velocity and
rate of flow of the stream. The average velocity is 0.29 meters per second (m/s) and the rate of
flow is 41.30 meters3 per second (m3/s). The velocity and rate of flow in the area are higher
because it was closer to the dam and also contained areas that were more elevated than some.
Sunlight, on the other hand, also affected the turbidity and the photic zone. The turbidity of the
stream was 26.50 centimeters (0.265 meters), while the photic zone was 0.42 meters. The photic
zone is the depth of the water that receives the greatest amount of sunlight that is then used to
carry out photosynthesis. Turbidity is an indicator of how much algae or sediments is present in a
lake because it affects the visibility of the water. The cloudiness of the water is caused by the
dissolved particles scattering light molecules within the water. The average depth of the water is
9.50 meters and the average width of the water is 14.99 meters. The measurements of the width and
depth are not affected by anything. According to Trout

Chronic Myeloid Leukemia
Regarding our recent inquiry as to the viability of an Abl Bcr inhibitor and the marketability
thereof, it is of prudent management to discern the separation between our drug candidate and those
drugs currently existing in the market, and evaluating the ease of development as well as long term
payoffs of said inhibitor. First, however, an introduction to chronic myeloid leukemia, its symptoms
and diagnoses, as well as current treatments, is in order. In better understanding the disease, we can
more properly evaluate our proposed treatment.
Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), as with all leukemia, is a cancer of the blood cells, in which

If the patient is required to take more doses with CSU 001, but to only pay the same relative
amount, then each of those doses would have to individually cost less than Gleevec. Thus, if the
individual cost to the patient is less, it would in turn lead us to require that the individual cost of
development per dose be less than Gleevec. If this can be achieved, and the cost of development
per dose of CSU 001 is less than Gleevec in proportion to the number of doses taken, then there
should be no discrepancy between development and marketing via the dosage required.
CSU 001 will be priced at approximately $25,000 per year. Requiring a budget of $150 million

Overcrowding Prisons And The Prisons Essay
Alma Gonzalez

Overcrowding Prisons Prisons were essentially built to accommodate a number of prisoners, but
over the years, it has reached over capacity. Today in the United States, there are approximately
193,468 federal inmates that consist of the Bureau of Prisons Custody, private managed facilities
and other facilities. The inmates ages range from 18 65 with the median age being in their late 30
s. This number is counting both male and female population with a male being 93.3% of inmates
and females being 6.7%. The number of inmates has steadily increased since 1980 with only having
approximately less than 50,000 but today the number has gone more up. Drug offenses are the
highest number of inmate s imprisonment, the next higher offense would be weapons, explosives
and arson; immigration and miscellaneous fall next in lines. The number of the other offenses, such
as robbery, extortion, fraud, bribery, burglary, larceny, property offenses and other offenses are
lower. Overcrowding prisons have become problematic as the prisons population continues to
increase, leading to proper care and attention to prisoners.

The greatest barrier to success is the fear of failure Sven Goran Eriksson. Success is an

in a disgraceful manner. People in society tend to face many challenges that occur in their daily

one decides not to surmount their challenges they will suffer within themselves for a long period of

and usually on the floor where people step all over it, which is very similar to Quoyle as a

pushed around by others. A quote that illustrates how Quoyle felt about his childhood would be,
?This gave me an uneasy feeling, the feeling of standing on a playground watching others play
games whose rules I didn?t know.? (Proulx, 63) This demonstrates that even as an adult Quoyle
had bad memories as a child that is locked into his mind. Quoyle?s physical appearance has been
a great embarrassment for him because he feels as if he is ?ugly? because of his ?monstrous
chin? as he calls it and it is shown in the novel that Quoyle hates his chin as well, ?Quoyle put his
hand over his chin.? (Proulx, 20) This is one of the constant actions Quoyle does which shows
that he is unhappy with his outer appearance. As a child Quoyle has always been isolated, he
would always get teased, picked on and pushed around by other and most of the time it would be

The Pros And Cons Of Student Athletes
Dean Clark Carter, I am a junior student here at Charleston Southern University. I write in regards
to an issue I have noticed on campus and would like to bring to your attention; should student
athletes receive special academic treatment? I believe that CSU should hold a student forum about
this issue so that all students gain knowledge about the topic, can share and debate opinions, and
create possible solutions.
In my past two years at CSU, I have heard student athletes argue both for and against receiving
special treatment. As Lombardi et al. mentions, the NCAA places academic criteria that student
athletes must meet in order to stay on their team, play games, and receive scholarships. Rules from
the NCAA and CSU are in place to keep athletes held accountable to academic standards in order to
play. According to the Charleston Southern UniversityStudent Handbook, if an athlete is found
to have participated in academic dishonesty, on the first offence he or she must sit out of 20% of
games played (10). The problem arises when alleged stories are spread around campus that
athletes are handed good grades by teachers in order to stay on their team. On the opposing side,
if grades start to slip, athletes will be put on academic probation and are not allowed to play until
grades improve. This is an example that the NCAA rules do apply and athletes do get punished for
not holding up their end of the bargain.
From an outside perspective, non athletic students on campus can be

Social Problems Associated With Racial Discrimination
Introduction:
I: People from different backgrounds around the world are being targeted and discriminated by
individuals of other races solely because they are different racially and culturally.
Body Paragraphs:
II: Basic Information on the Issue
A: According to Encyclopedia Britannica, race is determined by physical and personality traits,
intellect, morality, and culture ( Racism ). Racial discrimination is discriminating someone based on
their race or religion ( Racism/Color Discrimination ) or prejudice against an individual or group of
people of a different race because of the belief that one s own race is superior ( Racism ).

problems include alcohol or drug use/abuse and emotional withdrawal. Some emotional problems
include depression, feeling isolated, feelings of guilt and blaming oneself. Body aches,
headaches, and stress problems are some physical problems ( Impacts and Consequences ). Racial
discrimination can also cause people to quit jobs or school, lose concentration, and have a
negative impact on grades and important records. Finally, people can also suffer financially, such
as decreases in academic/job opportunities, loss of jobs, incomes, and/or benefits ( Impacts and
Consequences ). III: Impact of the Issue on the World

Residential Schools And The Effect On The Development Of...
This paper is focusing on Residential Schools and the effect they had on the development of the
individuals who attended the schools. The thought behind the Residential Schools was that,
Residential schools were the institutions, in operation from the 19th century to the late 20th century,
which Indigenous children in Canada were forced to attend (Ross, Dion, Cantinotti, Collin
VГ©zina, Paquette, 2015, p. 184). Residential Schools have caused intergenerational hardship and
trauma to Indigenous People s that has affected their well being and development. Being First
Nationsmyself and having family members who suffered the Residential Schools, I have seen the
effects on our people. Residential Schools had negative impacts on the individuals who attended
these schools by removing them from their communities and placing the children in these schools,
the effects of the Residential Schools still impact some of the survivors to this day. It needs to be
remembered that these, children did not choose to attend these schools, they were forced into

Nitrogen, Carbon and Phosphorus Cycles Essay
Nitrogen, Carbon and Phosphorus Cycles
The carbon cycle deals with the interaction of carbon between living organisms and the nonliving
environment. This cycle is a process through which all carbon rotates. The main result of the
carbon cycle is to serve as a great natural recycler of carbon atoms.
The cycle works in a very basic way. First, carbon is taken from carbon dioxide found in the air.
Plants take in carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Plants absorb carbon dioxide from the
atmosphere and use it, combined with water they get from the soil, to make substances they need
for growth. The carbon is then mixed with water. Carbon dioxide is then formed into sugar
(glucose). The process of photosynthesis incorporates the carbon atoms ... Show more content on

Carbon dioxide is very important in the atmosphere, however only in moderation. For centuries
humans have been burning coal, oil, and fossil fuels therefore releasing tons of carbon into the
air. The problem with this is that this can cause a problem known as global warming. This is a
major climate problem, which has series results on people and the environment. The result on
people can be very deadly. Too much carbon in the air can cause cancer.
The nitrogen cycle is extremely important. This is because of the importance of nitrogen itself.
Nitrogen is a basic element of life. It also makes up 78 percent of the Earth s atmosphere. It forms
an essential part of amino acids (which make up proteins) and DNA. Nitrogen is essential for all
living cells. The nitrogen cycle consists of 5 steps. First the basic element nitrogen in converted to
ammonia. This process is called nitrogen fixation. This process is done by nitrogen fixing bacteria.
Then the ammonia gets converted to nitrate. This process, called nitrification, is done by soil
bacteria. Assimilation is the third step. Here the ammonia and the nitrate are absorbed by plants.
Ammonification converts the nitrogen into ammonia. This process is done by ammonifying
bacteria. The final step is denitrification. Here the nitrate is converted back to nitrogen. Denitrifying
bacteria aid in this process.
Like all other elements, nitrogen is very important in life but in moderation. We sometimes cause an

A nuclear debate on the fuel cycle to the key economic and environmental advantages and

The debate was to discuss why the committee should agree to deploy a nuclear power station in

natural waste, the worry about its health and safety. It frightens the public as it being looked as a

benefit of nuclear energy but just a few realize the changes it bring to our lives over fewer years.

energy that is used to make steam, and used to power a turbine to generate electricity. True the
fuel is very radioactive and the harm to health could be cancer and for military security it could be

Effects Of Discrimination On African American Males
The views on discrimination against African American males haven t changed greatly since the
slavery era. For these males the discrimination has become more worse than ever before in modern
society. The African American males are treated unfairly than white males such as from workplace
to dealing with the police. There are more African Americanmales in prisons and they got killed by
white police officers more than any other races because of the racial profiling. According to

Weaknesses Of The French Crown
Importance of the Weaknesses of the French Crown in Explaining the Outbreak of the French Wars
of Religion in 1562
Previously France had been ruled by Henry II, a strong experienced ruler. It was, however, an
unfortunate jousting accident lead to the swift decline of the French monarchy. Henry s
successor, Francis II, was only fifteen years old on his accession to the throne in 1559. He was
inexperienced and easily manipulated. Charles IX, a ten year old who relied upon the help of
Catherine de Medici, his regent, then succeeded him. It was this new weak monarchy that acted as

Francis Duke of Guise quickly assumed control of the army, church and foreign affairs. The
Montmorency family had been stripped of office. The sudden shift of power towards the Guise
family heightened tensions between the aristocratic factions.
The monarchy in France operated through a clientage system. The King was at the apex and he
would give money and protection to the clientage beneath him, who, in return would offer the king
loyalty. Those beneath him included large aristocratic families and below these families were the
nobility, and further down still, the lesser nobility. The three aristocratic families were therefore
reliant on the nobility below them in the system for support. In return they would give offices
and jobs to their clients. Due to a weak monarchy this clientage system broke down. The
clientage system was a good way of exercising control over the major aristocratic families.
However, in order for such a system to function there needed to be a strong monarch and a large
sum of money, neither of which were available in 1559. After the vast amount of money spent in
the Hapsburg Valios wars the royal treasury was drained of resources. The monarchy not only
lacked a strong ruler but was also economically weak. It meant that the King could no longer keep
the aristocratic families under control by the means of the clientage system. The Guise s, who had

Yes, each business startup is in some level risky. However, more important is how a successful

The Usage Of Human Fingerprints Essay
The usage of human fingerprints for identification has a long history, tracing back to the Chinese
usage of fingerprints 200 BCE (International Association for Identification, et al., 1). The Qin
Dynasty had records of handprint identification being used as evidence for investigations about
burglary. It is not clear to what degree these methods were effective or accurate but this is the oldest
known example of the usage of handprints for identification purposes. From this point, there are
some sporadic instances of fingerprintusage. However, fingerprinting began to be seriously
evaluated in the 19th century (ibid).
Sir Francis Galton, a 19th Century anthropologist and biologist, began studying fingerprints in the
late 1800s (Gega, 1). Galton was a pioneer in fingerprint identification. He established the
individuality and permanence of fingerprints (International Association for Identification, et al., 1).
This is important for two reasons. The individual nature of fingerprints is key for the purposes of
identification. Galton estimated that the odds of the same two individual fingerprints occurring
was 1 in 64 billion (ibid). This percentage is so low that fingerprints can successfully be relied on
as accurate and consistent identification tools. The second part is also equally important. Many
biological identification factors, like height, weight, hair color, dental records, or foot size, will
change over the course of a human lifetime. These methods had been used by

The Economic Crisis Of Japan
Introduction Japan enjoyed an Asia s economic miracle that the world witnessed a country that
started out poor and had become the second largest industrial power during the postwar era.
However, a large bubble economy had been irritated by the growth, especially in the stock and asset
price markets, the economy suffered a near catastrophic crash caused by speculative mania(Hall and
Von Wiesen, 2014). The Japanese economy has stagnated after the collapse of bubble economy. The
economic situation has been in a wide deflation. In the last two decades, Japanese government took
several measures to solve the deflation problem and spur the economy. There are fiscal expansion,
conventional monetary measures, Yen depreciation, bank recapitalisation, Quantitative Easing, and
three arrows of Abenomics. But the situation did not change much, the balance sheet of the country
shows continuous economic recession. The paper is organized in the following way. Section 2
briefly describes the prolonged deflation in Japan. Section 3 evaluates policies proposed by the
government and gives some reasons of unsuccessful policies. Section 4 summarizes the policy
implementation. Background The long lasting deflation exert a tremendous influence in Japan, the
persistent decrease in the level of consumer prices shrunk profits and investments in corporate,
wages and consumption in individuals. This leaded to a further price decline. Such vicious cycle

Chuck Jones
Chuck Jones was and still is a pioneer of animation, contributing to over 300 films animated films.
He redfeined character development and storytelling. There are three methods that Chuck
employed to his animations. Firstly, the jokes. Many people remember The Looney Tunes not
only for the characters, but the jokes. Chuck Jones installed a two part structure to every episode.
The first part leads you to make an assumption and the second part proves it wrong. However, the
amount of work put into every single character is what truly set the films apart, leading us to the
second method creating relatable characters. Chuck Jones wanted to make the characters relatable
to audiences he wasn t just looking for jokes, he wanted these characters... Show more content on

It helps to have the dialogue, but the dialogue is not the thing that makes it work. The story
should tell itself by the way it moves. Now that we know what the character wants and how they
move to get it, we can then add in the personality of the character to the assumption. On the
flipside, there is danger to this method and you can easily get trapped in a formula. In order to
counteract this, Chuck Jones disciplined himself. Discipline is our third method because
animating always you to do whatever you want, so you have to think about what you won t do.
For example, Bugs bunny never instigated a fight, he only retaliates when others start it. Chuck
Jones did this because if he did not, Bugs Bunny would appear as a bully. Chuck Jones also
applied discipline to how character expressed themselves. In earlier years, they tended to go
through a slew of expressions in a couple of seconds, but over time Chuck Jones stuck to using the
smallest possible gestures and that made the jokes funnier. But the most important lesson that
Chuck Jones has taught us, is to be inspired by everyday life because it is no good to draw if you

Clarence s Speech in William Shakespeare s Richard III Essay
Clarence s Speech in William Shakespeare s Richard III
The speech I am going to be examining is from one of Shakespeare s plays, Richard III. It is the
part of the play where George, Duke of Clarence is explaining a prophetic nightmare he had whilst
being locked in the Tower of London.
Richard III was a real king of England, but had been killed in battle, around 100 years prior to
when Shakespeare wrote this play. At the time of writing, in 1594, the queen was Elizabeth I, a
Tudor. One of the Queens ancestors, Henry VII, had killed Richard III on Bosworth Field.
Shakespeare, to make sure he was in favour with the Queen, made Richard s character into a
complete villain, as well as physically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This helps to build up drama and create a vivid picture in the minds of those watching the plays.
This was especially important in the Elizabethan times, as stages had limited scenery and special
effects.
The beginning of Clarence s speech is full of warnings and phrases that suggest death. He begins
his speech telling Brackenbury that, in his dream, he thought he had broken from the Tower and
was on a ship to Burgundy with Richard. He says Richard tempted him to walk over the deck. The
word tempted is a word often used when talking of the devil as the devil tries to lure people into
sin. When Clarence uses this word to describe Richard s actions, it is like if Richard is being
described as devil like.
He then says that he and Richard looked towards England, and recalled a thousand heavy times,
during the wars of York and Lancaster, that had befallen us. A thousand is an exaggeration, but it
shows that Clarence is being warned of more bad things to come. This sets the mood of the speech.
It is full of warnings and sentences suggesting bad times.
Clarence says Methought that Gloucester stumbled, and in falling, struck me . This is a
forewarning that Richard is going to cause Clarence to suffer in the future. When Clarence says
methought it shows that he is a bit doubtful as to whether it was an accident or not. He thinks that it
was an accident when he

The Use Of Hypnosis And Its Effects On The Brain
Hypnosis has proven to involve much activity in the brain. It is much more than a person obeying,
there are underlying mechanisms in the brain that are still being studied today.
Evidence
Hypnosis has been used for a variety of reasons. Two categories it is used a lot in are addiction and
phobias. With the use of hypnosis, a person can connect the addiction to something extremely
distasteful which in turn makes the person not want to participate in the action anymore. Or
hypnotism can change the mindset of a person with an extreme fear so that they no longer
associate that fear with the object or action. Three studies were reviewed, a 2007 study on smoking
cessation, a 2006 study on dental phobia, and a 2007 study on needle phobia. A study by Carmody,
Duncan, Simon, Solkowitz, Huggins, Lee, and Delucchi (2007) researched different hypnosis
interventions and then chose the one they believed would be the most helpful and compared it to
behavioral counseling. Both of the treatments also had nicotine patches. The intervention was
geared to heighten the commitment to stop smoking as well as prevention. The hypnosis session
included suggestion and guided imagery. Their study consisted of 265 men and women that
smoked at least 10 cigarettes a day and wanted to quit. 137 of those participants received hypnosis
while 128 went through behavioral counseling.
The hypnosis treatment group received two hour long face to face sessions provided by a public
health educator that was

Swot Analysis Example
SWOT usage SWOT has been used by countless practitioners, marketing researchers, and is a
frequent and popular tool for business marketing and strategy students. Its simplicity and catchy
acronym perpetuates its usage in business and beyond as the tool is used to assess alternatives and
complex decision situations. In the business arena the grouping of internal and external issues is a
frequent starting point for strategic planning. It can be constructed quickly and can benefit from
multiple viewpoints as a brainstorming exercise. Typically, managers first consider internal
strengths and weaknesses (at the top row of the 2 Г— 2 grid) which can include image, structure,
access to natural resources, capacity and efficiency, and financial... Show more content on

The 142 studies were examined for trends, issues, uses of SWOT, and value added in long term
planning. Specifically, studies were sought that indicated sole use of SWOT analysis or if SWOT
was used in combination with other long range strategic planning tools. The authors next used
affinity diagrams to group and classify the collected studies using summaries on index cards.
Affinity diagrams are a popular text clustering technique used to categorize large number of
seemingly disparate comments ([41] Dobrzynski, 2007; [106] Levesque and Walker, 2007; [132]
Plain, 2007; [196] White et al. , 2002; [117] Mango, 2006). The affinity diagram methodology was
chosen due to its importance as an interpretative, qualitative approach to research, allowing for
investigation and emergence of multiple contextual variables or classification schemes. The
objective of the methodology is to utilize the qualitative data for explanatory purposes and to
generalize findings in support of theory based on a distillation of the various respondent comments.
The clustering of issues into logical categories helps draw inferences from the data collected. Thus
the goal is to better understand categories of service failures and identify the service failures that
result in customer defection. The researchers summarized, grouped, and clustered the comments by
key themes and focus areas. Through the iterative process, major classifications were identified

This search culminates in Socrates, who through his lifelong search for truth gains an image of the soul and eternal life similar to the Catholic concept of eternal life. In the Phaedrus, Socrates says that when all divine souls go to feast at the banquet (Phaedrus 247b), they ascend to a place beyond heaven to gaze upon a supreme divine being. Obviously the answer is yes, that everyone is included in the discussion of feminism, as someone who has benefitted from the patriarchy most of their lives, the discussion is one that I take part in but am incredibly wary of, for I don t wish to offend or accidentally misrepresent the subject. Clare Croft s article talks about the physical responses to prompts, as she removes the word girl from rehearsals and gives them words such as bossy or scarred. With this she achieves a less hetero normative performance as it removed the idea s of femineity and gender. She also talks of the loudness of the male actors in comparison to the females, and how it draws the eye away. • 16. Political Regimes And Degree Of Pluralism Introduction The decolonization process after the Second World War brought a new hope for a more democratic world. In Africa, however, the process did not provide the results expected by the West as most of the African states turned rapidly into various forms of authoritarian regimes with only a few adopting more democratic rule. Reasons for that are manifold. Authoritarianism, in the African context, is defined by a lack of state and ruling elites capacity to transform [...] power into effective political, economic, and cultural policies thus undermining the presence of an overarching authority and being often, but not always, repressive (Fatton Jr, 1988, p. 255). The differences in political regimes and degree of pluralism can be analysed during the transition period in early post independence years, determined by ways in which leaders centralized power differently across Africa (Bratton Van der Walle, 1994, p. 468). While some argue that colonial legacies have laid the ground for the prevalence of authoritarianism after independence, others would see this explanation as reductionist and simplistic, failing to consider other historical, social and cultural aspects. This essay will review some of the structural limitations that emerged in the colonial period and were reinforced by other factors such as the international environment and informal politics, upholding authoritarian practices and corruption across almost all of the Sub Saharan Africa (SSA). When I asked this question to my friends, one of them answered, how can we have fun without dancing? People dance when they feel comfortable, and they also can dance when having fun because people, as human beings, have known instinctively that dancing with rhythm makes them happy. It is interesting that people all already know how to dance. However, we might not have an idea why people know how to dance, and where the pleasant feelings that you can get due to dance came from. Without a doubt, dancing was fundamentally not made in the 21st century. It was made and built by ancient people before the birth of the earliest human civilizations. Dance does not leave behind clearly identifiable physical artifacts such as stone tools, hunting implements, or cave paintings ( Champion and Thomas, 2). People have danced to pray and communicate with god, and these dances also have been an important part of ceremonies, rituals, celebrations, and entertainment. Even though time passed since dancing began, dance is always about communication among people, and they are required several kinds of dance style to show their expression. One of the dances which people have handed down from the ancient times is folk dance. If this can be achieved, and the cost of development per dose of CSU 001 is less than Gleevec in proportion to the number of doses taken, then there should be no discrepancy between development and marketing via the dosage required. Overcrowding Prisons And The Prisons Essay Alma Gonzalez Professor Shaw SOC 474OL 11 August 2016 Overcrowding Prisons Prisons were essentially built to accommodate a number of prisoners, but over the years, it has reached over capacity. Today in the United States, there are approximately 193,468 federal inmates that consist of the Bureau of Prisons Custody, private managed facilities and other facilities. The inmates ages range from 18 65 with the median age being in their late 30 s. This number is counting both male and female population with a male being 93.3% of inmates and females being 6.7%. The number of inmates has steadily increased since 1980 with only having approximately less than 50,000 but today the number has gone more up. Drug offenses are the highest number of inmate s imprisonment, the next higher offense would be weapons, explosives and arson; immigration and miscellaneous fall next in lines. The number of the other offenses, such as robbery, extortion, fraud, bribery, burglary, larceny, property offenses and other offenses are lower. Overcrowding prisons have become problematic as the prisons population continues to increase, leading to proper care and attention to prisoners. If one decides not to surmount their challenges they will suffer within themselves for a long period of time. Having confidence within is considered the greatest way to overcome suffering in life. Quoyle would always get pushed around and walked on which is just like the meaning of his name, Quoyle is a rope that is always tangled together and usually on the floor where people step all over it, which is very similar to Quoyle as a character because his life is also tangled and confusing and he too gets walked all over and pushed around by others. A quote that illustrates how Quoyle felt about his childhood would be, ?This gave me an uneasy feeling, the feeling of standing on a playground watching others play games whose rules I didn?t know.? (Proulx, 63) This demonstrates that even as an adult Quoyle had bad memories as a child that is locked into his mind. Quoyle?s physical appearance has been a great embarrassment for him because he feels as if he is ?ugly? because of his ?monstrous chin? as he calls it and it is shown in the novel that Quoyle hates his chin as well, ?Quoyle put his hand over his chin.? • 29. The Pros And Cons Of Student Athletes Dean Clark Carter, I am a junior student here at Charleston Southern University. I write in regards to an issue I have noticed on campus and would like to bring to your attention; should student athletes receive special academic treatment? I believe that CSU should hold a student forum about this issue so that all students gain knowledge about the topic, can share and debate opinions, and create possible solutions. In my past two years at CSU, I have heard student athletes argue both for and against receiving special treatment. As Lombardi et al. mentions, the NCAA places academic criteria that student athletes must meet in order to stay on their team, play games, and receive scholarships. Rules from the NCAA and CSU are in place to keep athletes held accountable to academic standards in order to play. According to the Charleston Southern UniversityStudent Handbook, if an athlete is found to have participated in academic dishonesty, on the first offence he or she must sit out of 20% of games played (10). The problem arises when alleged stories are spread around campus that athletes are handed good grades by teachers in order to stay on their team. On the opposing side, if grades start to slip, athletes will be put on academic probation and are not allowed to play until grades improve. This is an example that the NCAA rules do apply and athletes do get punished for not holding up their end of the bargain. From an outside perspective, non athletic students on campus can be ... • 32. Nitrogen, Carbon and Phosphorus Cycles Essay Nitrogen, Carbon and Phosphorus Cycles The carbon cycle deals with the interaction of carbon between living organisms and the nonliving environment. This cycle is a process through which all carbon rotates. The main result of the carbon cycle is to serve as a great natural recycler of carbon atoms. The cycle works in a very basic way. First, carbon is taken from carbon dioxide found in the air. Plants take in carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Plants absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and use it, combined with water they get from the soil, to make substances they need for growth. The carbon is then mixed with water. Carbon dioxide is then formed into sugar (glucose). The process of photosynthesis incorporates the carbon atoms ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The result on people can be very deadly. Too much carbon in the air can cause cancer. The nitrogen cycle is extremely important. This is because of the importance of nitrogen itself. Nitrogen is a basic element of life. It also makes up 78 percent of the Earth s atmosphere. It forms an essential part of amino acids (which make up proteins) and DNA. Nitrogen is essential for all living cells. The nitrogen cycle consists of 5 steps. First the basic element nitrogen in converted to ammonia. This process is called nitrogen fixation. This process is done by nitrogen fixing bacteria. Then the ammonia gets converted to nitrate. This process, called nitrification, is done by soil bacteria. Assimilation is the third step. Here the ammonia and the nitrate are absorbed by plants. Ammonification converts the nitrogen into ammonia. This process is done by ammonifying bacteria. The final step is denitrification. Here the nitrate is converted back to nitrogen. Denitrifying bacteria aid in this process. Like all other elements, nitrogen is very important in life but in moderation. The King was at the apex and he would give money and protection to the clientage beneath him, who, in return would offer the king loyalty. Those beneath him included large aristocratic families and below these families were the nobility, and further down still, the lesser nobility. The three aristocratic families were therefore reliant on the nobility below them in the system for support. In return they would give offices and jobs to their clients. Due to a weak monarchy this clientage system broke down. The clientage system was a good way of exercising control over the major aristocratic families. However, in order for such a system to function there needed to be a strong monarch and a large sum of money, neither of which were available in 1559. After the vast amount of money spent in the Hapsburg Valios wars the royal treasury was drained of resources. The monarchy not only lacked a strong ruler but was also economically weak. The Usage Of Human Fingerprints Essay The usage of human fingerprints for identification has a long history, tracing back to the Chinese usage of fingerprints 200 BCE (International Association for Identification, et al., 1). The Qin Dynasty had records of handprint identification being used as evidence for investigations about burglary. It is not clear to what degree these methods were effective or accurate but this is the oldest known example of the usage of handprints for identification purposes. From this point, there are some sporadic instances of fingerprintusage. However, fingerprinting began to be seriously evaluated in the 19th century (ibid). Sir Francis Galton, a 19th Century anthropologist and biologist, began studying fingerprints in the late 1800s (Gega, 1). Galton was a pioneer in fingerprint identification. He established the individuality and permanence of fingerprints (International Association for Identification, et al., 1). This is important for two reasons. The individual nature of fingerprints is key for the purposes of identification. Galton estimated that the odds of the same two individual fingerprints occurring was 1 in 64 billion (ibid). This percentage is so low that fingerprints can successfully be relied on as accurate and consistent identification tools. The second part is also equally important. Clarence s Speech in William Shakespeare s Richard III Essay Clarence s Speech in William Shakespeare s Richard III The speech I am going to be examining is from one of Shakespeare s plays, Richard III. It is the part of the play where George, Duke of Clarence is explaining a prophetic nightmare he had whilst being locked in the Tower of London. Richard III was a real king of England, but had been killed in battle, around 100 years prior to when Shakespeare wrote this play. At the time of writing, in 1594, the queen was Elizabeth I, a Tudor. One of the Queens ancestors, Henry VII, had killed Richard III on Bosworth Field. Shakespeare, to make sure he was in favour with the Queen, made Richard s character into a complete villain, as well as physically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This helps to build up drama and create a vivid picture in the minds of those watching the plays. This was especially important in the Elizabethan times, as stages had limited scenery and special effects. The beginning of Clarence s speech is full of warnings and phrases that suggest death. He begins his speech telling Brackenbury that, in his dream, he thought he had broken from the Tower and was on a ship to Burgundy with Richard. He says Richard tempted him to walk over the deck. The word tempted is a word often used when talking of the devil as the devil tries to lure people into sin. When Clarence uses this word to describe Richard s actions, it is like if Richard is being described as devil like. He then says that he and Richard looked towards England, and recalled a thousand heavy times, during the wars of York and Lancaster, that had befallen us. A thousand is an exaggeration, but it shows that Clarence is being warned of more bad things to come. This sets the mood of the speech. It is full of warnings and sentences suggesting bad times. Clarence says Methought that Gloucester stumbled, and in falling, struck me . This is a forewarning that Richard is going to cause Clarence to suffer in the future. When Clarence says methought it shows that he is a bit doubtful as to whether it was an accident or not. He thinks that it was an accident when he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. The Use Of Hypnosis And Its Effects On The Brain Hypnosis has proven to involve much activity in the brain. It is much more than a person obeying, there are underlying mechanisms in the brain that are still being studied today. Evidence Hypnosis has been used for a variety of reasons. Two categories it is used a lot in are addiction and phobias. With the use of hypnosis, a person can connect the addiction to something extremely distasteful which in turn makes the person not want to participate in the action anymore. Or hypnotism can change the mindset of a person with an extreme fear so that they no longer associate that fear with the object or action. Three studies were reviewed, a 2007 study on smoking cessation, a 2006 study on dental phobia, and a 2007 study on needle phobia. A study by Carmody, Duncan, Simon, Solkowitz, Huggins, Lee, and Delucchi (2007) researched different hypnosis interventions and then chose the one they believed would be the most helpful and compared it to behavioral counseling. Both of the treatments also had nicotine patches. The intervention was geared to heighten the commitment to stop smoking as well as prevention. The hypnosis session included suggestion and guided imagery. Their study consisted of 265 men and women that smoked at least 10 cigarettes a day and wanted to quit. 137 of those participants received hypnosis while 128 went through behavioral counseling. The hypnosis treatment group received two hour long face to face sessions provided by a public health educator that was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Swot Analysis Example SWOT usage SWOT has been used by countless practitioners, marketing researchers, and is a frequent and popular tool for business marketing and strategy students. Its simplicity and catchy acronym perpetuates its usage in business and beyond as the tool is used to assess alternatives and complex decision situations. In the business arena the grouping of internal and external issues is a frequent starting point for strategic planning. It can be constructed quickly and can benefit from multiple viewpoints as a brainstorming exercise. Typically, managers first consider internal strengths and weaknesses (at the top row of the 2 Г— 2 grid) which can include image, structure, access to natural resources, capacity and efficiency, and financial... Specifically, studies were sought that indicated sole use of SWOT analysis or if SWOT was used in combination with other long range strategic planning tools. The authors next used affinity diagrams to group and classify the collected studies using summaries on index cards. Affinity diagrams are a popular text clustering technique used to categorize large number of seemingly disparate comments ([41] Dobrzynski, 2007; [106] Levesque and Walker, 2007; [132] Plain, 2007; [196] White et al. , 2002; [117] Mango, 2006). The affinity diagram methodology was chosen due to its importance as an interpretative, qualitative approach to research, allowing for investigation and emergence of multiple contextual variables or classification schemes. The objective of the methodology is to utilize the qualitative data for explanatory purposes and to generalize findings in support of theory based on a distillation of the various respondent comments. The clustering of issues into logical categories helps draw inferences from the data collected. Thus the goal is to better understand categories of service failures and identify the service failures that result in customer defection. The researchers summarized, grouped, and clustered the comments by key themes and focus areas. Through the iterative process, major classifications were identified ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
