The Impact Of Emissions That Are Generated From Cradle To...
Transportation off site emissions are emissions that are generated from cradle to gate. The total
emissions index is used to assess each alternative where overall emissions are divided into direct and
indirect emissions. The direct emissions index, indirect emissions index, total emissions index and
global emission index can be calculated using equation 1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively. Detailed
information on calculating direct and indirect emissions can be found elsewhere (Marzouk et al.,

Squeaky Character Analysis
Some people s personalities are like pineapples. rough and tough on the outside and soft out in inside.
Take Squeaky for example. She is very rough on the inside. Her confidence makes her stay strong and
tough, but on the inside of her, is where she s caring for her brother, Raymond.
At first, you might interpret that Squeaky is not nice at all when she is really, is a confident girl who
does not like to be a chicken. This takes place in New York City on 34th street. When Squeaky is
walking down Broadway with Raymond, her brother, all of a sudden she sees Gretchen and her
sidekicks. Gretchen and her nasty sidekicks like to tease Raymond because Raymond has mental
disabilities.

coaching the 50 yard dash, two, Gretchen who is also participating in the same race with Squeaky.
Finally, three, Raymond, who is going to chant and help Squeaky by cheering her on with her race.
When Squeaky is talking to the coach it seems like she is a little angry at the coach.Squeaky is getting
ready for the race and the race official wants Squeaky to purposely lose the race, so she can give
someone else a break. Well Hazel Elizabeth Deborah Parker, gonna give someone else a break this

A Description Of Insanity
Insanity In mourning is my delight, like a star in eternal night. As black as an endless pit, in pestilence
of my cindered soul. A pulse and beat! Lo, my heart cries forth, insanity insanity is Terra s mark. A sky
at night, a shining light; in black I mourn a star s delight. In the blackest arts, a drum, a beat, a shrill in
terror of the night s delight. In night I swoon my darkened plight, clothed in black I mourn the fading

In 1889 Jane Adams along with Ellen Gates Starr, as the pioneer or Mother of social work opened the
doors to Chicago s Hull House, which provided social services that included: child care; education in
history, music, and mathematics; a library, employment assistance; as well as many others to
immigrant communities in the city (NASW 60th Anniversary Interactive Timeline, 2016). Today, the

Battle Of The Bulge Battle Analysis
World War II was a very important event in American History. During these times, America had gone
to war against Germany, Italy and Japan. The three nations called themselves the Axis Powers. The
Allied Forces, America, Great Britain and France, were up against Hitler and the Axis Powers. There
were two attacks that made a difference during the war, the Battle of the Bulge and the attack on Pearl
Harbor. The Battle of the Bulge and the attack on Pearl Harbor were a huge turning point in World

The factors that contribute to one s attitude, Affects emotions, Behaviors actions, Cognitions thoughts,
the ABC s of attitude (Carter amp; Seifert, 2016, Chapter 16). When our emotions, actions and
thoughts are not working together it can be difficult. Finding out more about our behavior will help us
learn more about our attitude. The self perception theory says that we are not fully aware of our
attitudes. Most of the time with infer our attitudes based on our behavior. It is the opposite in fact, our
behavior affects our attitude. We can change our behavior and the result will be a change in attitude.

An excellent example of instrumental aggression is when a child will hit another child, in order to get
the toy that the child was playing with. The other type of aggression is hostile aggression. Hostile
aggression is a desire to do harm to another, like a person bullying another individual. We are attracted
to people that are similar to us. What attracts us to people is not only physical characteristics, but also
a person competency, however if a person is over competent, we lose attraction towards them. We also
like people that are physically attractive but as the old saying goes looks can be deceiving. A good
looking person can sometimes have the worst attitude, and may not be the best company.
Groups play a huge role on a person s behavior. Once you are in a group you start to treat others
outside of the group differently. Although, belonging to a group can bring up someone s self esteem,
treating others differently can lead to prejudice and discrimination and that is not a good thing. Groups
can also affect your decision to help or to not help others.
Social Psychology plays an important role in life and in the workplace. At work you have to treat
everyone the same and not be prejudice towards them. Discrimination is also not permitted in the
workplace. Being able to control your own, as well as, others behavior and attitude is important. Also,
when working you have to be able to conform and obey.

Aristotle s Impact On Macbeth
Aristotle had quite a few remarks on the idea and thought of character, especially in genres such as
tragedies. In Aristotle s opinion, a variety of aspects makes a tragedy, a tragedy, such as the
incorporation of a tragic figure who happens to have a tragic flaw that leads to the character s demise.
He also believes that a tragedy should have what is known as a dramatic irony, which occurs when the
audiences knows information the characters in the play does not, thus changing the watcher s
perception of the overall story. However, even when Aristotle s expectations of tragedies are oddly
specific, it is generally applicable to other tragedies of literary merit, such as stories from Shakespeare
and provides an insight as to how the taste and social structure of the ancient Greek times was
influenced heavily by the contemporary tragedies.
Aristotle s statements and definition of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Macbeth, the tragic hero would definitely be Macbeth himself who had one fateful flaw that
determined his future: his unchecked ambition. Due to this one tragic flaw in the makings, Macbeth
went from a bright future as king to his demise, which eventually lead to his death. Because of the
events that occurred in the latter half of Macbeth s life, the play evokes pity, albeit a little undeserved,
from the audience as Macbeth accepts his doom. Furthermore, the playwright elicits fear from the
watchers, which is caused by their fear of committing the same mistake as Macbeth. Aristotle believed
that inciting fear and pity from the audience is part of what makes a tragedy, a tragedy. To strengthen
the impact of the play, dramatic irony is employed, in which the audience can hear monologues
spoken by the actors about their actions. This thus changes the audience s perception of a character s

Human Factors Affecting Your Largest Operating Expenditure
Introduction Manual order picking is still the most common way to fulfill orders from customers. This
process of order picking is highly labor intensive, repetitive and time consuming, resulting in one of
the largest organizational expenses in a warehouse environment. Traditionally, order picking systems
have been designed to limit travel time, search time, and pick time. The theory is that by reducing
travel, search, and pick time, the process should become more productive, limiting costs, reducing
errors, and being user friendly. So why design a system that is dependent on your largest operating
expenditure without taking into account various human factors which can lead to lower productivity,
increased errors, system constraints, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We installed new racking which enabled us to store our inventory higher than before, allowing us to
increase our product offerings. We changed our aisle configuration to decrease travel time. We
implemented a new system to locate our product which reduced search time. We configured our layout
of products so that the best sellers are on the floor which lowers our pick times. We even implemented
a new hand held scanner technology to reduce our pick errors.
With our new order picking system we were trying to increase production. During our planning of the
system, we never took into account how the human factor would affect our productivity. We designed
it to maximize our efficiency, increase pick rates, lower pick errors and be user friendly. We did not
take into account how our employee s learning curve, acceptance, and engagement would affect the
system. We realized that the system was still manual and that human error would be a factor, but we
did not fully consider the human factor in designing the system.
Question
Should human factors, which are traditionally overlooked, be more highly considered when designing
an order picking system to optimize productivity and reduce inefficiencies in a warehouse setting?
This question was reached with the help of the following PICOC:

Summary Of The Abduction Of Europa
The painting I found at the Dallas Museum of Art is a work done by Jean Baptiste Marie Pierre. It is
entitled The Abduction of Europa , it is a depiction of an episode coming from the narrative Ovid s
Metamorphoses. In this painting, Zeus manifests himself as a bull and comes to lift Europa out of the
sea. She then ascends out of the water on the back of the bull into the heavens. This work of art comes
to life through its usage of the fundamental elements and principles of art. The usage of the lines in
this painting establishes emphasis and develops subtle nuances in the structure of the piece. The
figures above the sea: namely the cherubs and the large birdlike figure possess thinly defined lines
outlining them. The cherub in the top left corner with the string of flower petals has a long implied
line going into the distance. The wings of the birdlike figure in the sky have a horizontal line on the
left wing and a curved line on the right wing. This develops the outline and shape of the birdlike
creature. The lines that surround the clouds are curved and thinly defined as well. In the bottom, right
corner of the painting there is a man whose hand is reached out to touch the chin of the bull. The lines
of the rib cage and upper body muscles of this man are very thick. The lines on this man are much
more defined than the other people in the painting. This is meant to establish a subtle sense of struggle
with this man, while he is attempting to flee the sea. Europa s

The Impact Of National Culture On Business Culture
According to the text, each national culture constrains and guides the development of business culture.
In any society, business is closely interwoven with the values, norms and beliefs of a culture as a
whole. The impact of national culture influences all aspects of work and organizational life including
how managers select and promote employees, lead and motivate their subordinates, structure their
organizations, select and formulate their strategies and negotiate with other business people (Cullen
Parboteeah p 47).
The cultural conflicts that emerged in the U.S. Polish joint venture can be examined through the lens
of Hofstede s model of national culture. The table below summarizes the dimensions of national
cultural differences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Poland s very high score on Uncertainty Avoidance (93) reflects its desire to maintain rigid codes of
belief and behavior. Poles are intolerant of different behavior and ideas, they believe that laws are very
important and should be followed and experts are always correct. Poles prefer formality, titles and
signs of status to demonstrate their authority over subordinates. U.S. managers, on the other hand,
regard the status symbols as counterproductive and meaningless. Finally, the U.S. managers were far
more informal in their communication style, comfortable with openness and equality in their business
relations and very trusting in the underlying goodness of people. In contrast, by their national culture,
Poles are distrustful and fearful of bosses who wish their employees well and are suspicious of the
positive feedback commonly used by the U.S. managers to recognize achievements both publicly and
privately.
According to the text, regardless of the speed and depth of globalization large differences in national
culture persist and no multinational manager can succeed without a deep understanding of the national
culture in which they do business (Cullen Parboteeah p. 24). The potential for conflict,
misunderstanding and miscommunication is enormous because customs,

Ecclesiastes One Night Analysis
I stumbled upon this chapter in Ecclesiastes one night and as I read it, it was explaining to me exactly
how I felt that moment when I had opened my bible. I had been in a busy season of life, and at the end
of every day, I was consistently finding myself overwhelmed and stressed, and every night I would
think about how life is always going to be stressful, maybe expressed differently and hidden in
different aspects of life, but nevertheless, stressful. Many times when I find myself stressed, my
perspective is taken off of God and placed on my circumstance, which causes me to not tolerate stress

would be for an investor to invest in some sort of new technology. There is a certain method that

even though these methods are pretty much set in stone like a mathematical equation, the investor

Julius Caesar Ethos Pathos Logos Essay
Ethos, Pathos, Logos
Some of the most famous writers from William Shakespeare to John Green have used three different
persuasive techniques for several years. Have you ever heard of ethos, pathos, and logos? In the
famous tragedy of Julius Caesar the author William Shakespeare uses ethos, pathos, and logos for
persuading something or someone. In Julius Caesar Shakespeare uses these traits in Brutus s and
Antony s funeral speeches to persuade the citizens of Rome to hear them out. In the tragedy Caesar
was the emperor of Rome until his own senators killed him. The senators claimed they had to kill him
because he was getting to ambitious and it was getting worse. They had to save the citizens before
they start to get hurt by Caesar s actions. The most ethos, pathos, and logos takes place at the funeral
when Brutus and Antony talk about why Caesar had to die. Ethos, Pathos, and logos are all used in the
tragedy of Julius Caesar s funeral scene, some more effectively than others but they are all used to
persuade the crowd one way or another.

Here Brutus is trying to get the citizens at the funeral to listen to him because of his reputation of
being an honorable man. Shakespeare uses ethos in not only in Brutus speech but also in Antony s. In

saying that Caesar was always fair and only a friend like him would understand that. Antony says I
will not do them wrong; I rather choose to wrong the dead, to wrong myself and you, than I will
wrong such honorable men. (III.ii.122 124). Here Antony is using a strong sense of ethos because he is
showing his character by proving himself a worthy man to Rome. Brutus tends to really get the
audience appealed to his reasoning by using ethos which led to his success of winning the citizens

Romanticism Response To The Industrial Revolution
Romanticism was a response towards the industrial revolution. The movement rejected the idea of
reason that gripped the educational masses of earlier 18th century Europe. Romaticism idolized the
unknown and the idea of personification. As romanticism started to dwindle in the mid 1800 s
innovative ideas formed. The new movements that evolved from Romanticism are Nationalism,
Liberalism, and Conservatism. Liberalism didn t start out as a reactionary or branch off from the
romanticism period, instead it has roots throughout the ages. For example, in 1789 after revolutions in
France, France passed the document Declaration of Rights and Man, which proclaimed men are born
free and equal in rights, the free communication and opinions is one of ... Show more content on

Romantics reacting towards and rejecting the enlightenment, single handily brought both the
protestant and the catholic church back into the limelight. Conservatives would soon pick up on this
and believing that all humans are not intrinsically good, believed in the stronger control of the church
to maintain virtuous behavior, in both the citizen and in the state . In France and Austria, conservatism
was the most prevalent with strong ties to the Catholic Pope. Conservatism would ensure peace during
the Vienna congress. As romanticism dwelled in the unknown and the personification. Nationalism
became a popular movement by dwelling in the bonds of certain cultures by location, religion, and
even language. Johann Gottfried Herder (1744 1803) a German philosopher, would argue that each
nation had its own distinctive spirit, or a volksgiest, and would continue to argue that each spirit was
discovered, not invented. Eugene Delacroix (1798 1863) a French painter, and Francisco Goya (1746
1828) a Spanish painter, would soon put paintings into nationalism limelight. Delacroix interpretation
of the revolution of 1830 in the painting Liberty Leading the People would soon be a rallying cry with
the personification of Marianne, or the spirt of liberty to France, leading the charge and holding the

Lease Of Capital Lease Vs. Operating Leases
Leases
Capital Leases vs. Operating Leases The most significant difference between a capital lease and an
operating lease is how each is recognized in the financial statements. According to U.S. GAAP, a lease
is capitalized if it fulfills one of the following requirements: transfer of ownership, bargain purchase
option, lease term is 75% or more of economic life, or present value of minimum lease payments is
90% or more of fair value. All other lease agreements are classified as operating leases (Wahlen et al.,
2013, p.20 15). Operating leases present advantages to the leasee, as they are not required to be
recognized on the balance sheet, yet operating lease agreements must be disclosed in the notes to the
financial statements.

Leases vs. Purchase: Advantages and Disadvantages There are numerous advantages to leasing over
purchasing, the majority of which relate to cash flows, financing issues and financial reporting.
Specifically, leases have the potential to offer a lower interest over the long term and only lay claim on
the leased asset, not on all assets (Wahlen et al., 2013). Additionally, leases do not constrict cash flows
to the same extent as purchasing. For example the statement of cash flows demonstrates Amazon used
$2.4 billion and $121 million to repay capital lease and finance lease obligations respectively,
foregoing the drastically greater cash outflow if Amazon were to purchase these assets. Furthermore,
leasing provides an exit strategy if the location is not conducive to operations.

Upon reviewing Amazon s statement of cash flows, it appears net cash provided by operating
activities, $11.9 billion, only slightly outweighs net cash used in investing activities, $6.4 billion and
financing activities $3.7 billion by, $1.7 billion. When measured against the previous year, 2014 cash
inflows exceeded 2015 by $4.5 billion. The primary causes of the reduced inflows in 2015 can be
largely attributed to two causes.

The Reproductive Hormone 17 Β -estradiol ( E2 )
The reproductive hormone 17β estradiol (E2) is the main form of estrogen found in female has several
functions; particularly it maintains the female reproductive system and acts as a component of
metabolic processes. (6) Research has shown that E2 has effects in animal models in reducing anxiety
as well as other depressive behaviors. (11) E2 can exert its effects via direct genomic action, but can
also cause effects via indirect genomic action. The direct genomic action occurs through the utilization
of two intracellular receptors for estrogen, estrogen receptor alpha (ERα) and estrogen receptor beta
(ERβ). ERα is thought to be involved with stimulatory processes, while ERβ is thought to be involved
in inhibitory processes. (6) To test ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Introduction
E2 uses its direct genomic effect to regulate gene expression throughout the brain. In its classical
mechanism E2, or any other estrogen or estrogen like compound, will bind to the ERα or ERβ receptor
forming a complex, which will then act as a transcription factor, which will either activate or inhibit
specific genes by binding as a dimer directly to an estrogen response element (ERE). When E2 or
other estrogens are not present, a heat shock protein inhibits potential activity. (6) E2 can also act
through ERE independent mechanisms, or indirect genomic actions, such as activating multiple
intracellular kinase cascades by binding to other membrane associated estrogen receptors (mER). (9)
E2 specifically mediates behaviors and stress physiology in the hypothalamus by regulating central
neural pathways. A large amount of these pathways passes through the arcuate nucleus (ARC) which
strongly expresses ERα. (12) To analyze how both the ERE dependent and ERE independent
pathways may affect stress behaviors it is necessary to utilize the mouse models mentioned previously.

Comparison Of Phaethon And Daedalus And Icarus
In the two Greek myths, Phaethon and Daedalus and Icarus , the main characters go through a major
trial that enforces their pride, which eventually leads to their death. The literary elements in these two
myths include characters, imagery, and conflict. These elements help the author express the bright
scenes, understandable reasonings, and unfortunate downfalls. The lesson in both tales is equivalent,
as the theme is: A prideful disregard of the warning from those who are older and wiser can quickly
lead to disastrous consequences. However, the way this present this lesson is what makes it different
from each other. The main characters being Phaethon, Daedalus, Icarus imagery, and conflict all work
together to form the theme.
Certain people help form the common motif of these two myths. To prove this, in Phaethon , Phaethon
s self centered trait leads him from burning the earth, to freezing it, and eventually, to Zeus killing
him. All of this because he craved attention, as it states, How many people are watching me, me, me!
(pg. 53, par. 64). Like it shows, his attention makes him ending up dead. When it says, ...Me, me, me...
it explains how he wanted the recognition. This reckless behavior shows Phaethon s pridefulness as
well, just as wanting attention shows how better you think you are. Continuing on this, Icarus also
ends up being swallowed with self confidence, but in a more smug way. He thinks he s an expert flier
and believes he can go even higher than the sun, as he quotes, Think you re (the sun) the highest thing
in the sky, do you? Because of these actions performed by Icarus, it is obvious to see how carefree he
is. This sentence can connect with the theme, as the prideful disregard he committed was to his father,
a wise and clever man. He warned, Don t fly too close to the sun! but alas, Icarus completely neglects
his caution. It is easy to predict Icarus s recklessness will lead him to his doom. Therefore, the actions
of the characters really do help set up the downfalls, as in both texts, it explains how their pride blinds
them from the consequences.
The imagery in these stories is an important step in making the theme as well. In Phaethon, it shows a
vivid image of him

That Summer And The Crown Analysis
Someone once said, Your capability is admirable beyond words, so do not be afraid to show it . In the
books That Summer and The Crown this theme is demonstrated by the protagonist numerous times.
Without question, Haven from That Summer may be lonely, but Eadlyn from The Crown is capable
which is far more admirable.
Without a doubt, a tremendously capable character in the book The Crown by Kiera Cass would be
Eadlyn Schreave. To be capable is to be able to do the task at hand. One example that Eadlyn is
capable is how she runs an entire kingdom so her dad can stay with her mother because her mom was
sick. Running a huge kingdom at 18 years of age is a huge responsibility and Eadlyn was able to do it
by enlisting her closest staff to come on a team to assist her. Another example that Eadlyn is capable is
how she stopped a massive war from happening, due to her brother marrying the Queen of France and
giving up his royal status. Eadlyn had to go against an entire congress of old men that wanted to start
sending an army to France. It proved Eadlyn was capable of doing anything a man could do, and that
she did not need to find a husband to rule over Illéa. In closing, Eadlyn Schreave from the book The
Crown by Kiera Cass, is an extremely capable young lady.
Without question, Haven from the book That Summer By Sarah Dessen is a lonely character. Lonely
means that a person is closed off and isolated from other people. One example that Haven is lonely is

Sterilization and Disinfection in a Dental Office Essays
There are two important things to do in a dental office in order to prevent cross infection. These two
forms are sterilization and disinfection. According to the CDC and the Food and Drug Administration
before either of these forms can be used you have to clean the instruments. This can be done either by
hand or by using an ultrasonic cleaner.
Even though both sterilization and disinfection are both important there is a big difference between the
two. Sterilization is the process of killing all microorganisms. Where disinfection is the process of
destroying pathogenic organisms or rendering them inert. The centers for disease control says there is

(this is for the bio) The third is dry heat. Dry heat is one of the earliest forms for sterilizing. This form
is as it sounds, dry heat utilizes hot air that is either free from water vapor, or has very little of it, and
where this moisture plays a minimal or no role in the process. The way dry heat sterilizes is by
coagulating the proteins in any organism, thus causing drying of cells. Dry heat can even burn them to
ashes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dry_heat_sterilization The last form of sterilization I am going to
talk about is cold sterile. The reason for cold sterile is not all items can go into heat sterilization.
Liquid sterilant, such as 2% to 3.4% glutataldehyde, must be used for this type of sterilization. In
order for the cold sterile to work the items must be fully submerged for no less than 10 hours,
anything less than that would only be disinfection. This form of sterilization also requires a material
safety data sheet due to it being a chemical.

Ed O Bannon, a previous UCLA basketball player filed a case looking to sue the NCAA for licensing
players without consent. The NCAA marks their players as amateurs, therefore, they do not allow
paying players. However after the ruling, the NCAA was found to be violating antitrust laws, which
could potentially change the model of the system (Maese). Judge Claudia Wilken ruled an injunction
that schools in the NCAA would be allowed to provide players a trust fund in order to compensate
players for using their names in broadcasting, merchandise or imaging. In 2016, this trust fund will
allow universities to conduct bidding wars for future recruits (Strauss, Tracy). This of course, would
be able to be capped at a certain mark and would not be payable until after the departure of a student
athlete s time at a college or the end of their eligibility (Berkowitz) This court case could potentially
change the way college sports are run.
Marc Edelman, a writer for forbes.com, argues his point in 21 Reasons Why Student Athletes Are
Employees And Should Be Allowed To Unionize is for the movement to pay players. Edelman focuses
his point on NCAA programs being large revenue businesses and in his opinion should consider
student athletes as employees. With this, he explains that student athletes have to work an average of
43.3 hours a week and oftentimes forced to miss class due to NCAA playoff scheduling (Edelman).

Russell Baker s School Vs. Education By Russell Baker
In the two articles, school vs education by Russell Baker and the case against college by Caroline

his article that schooling does not truly educate you as much as real life situation will. Caroline Bird
discusses how college for a lot of us is a waste of time and only a small margin of people are meant
for college. Russell Baker, who has a Bachelor s degree in English, demonstrates his views on how
schools fluctuate from different skill levels in his 1975 New York times column school vs. Education .
Bakers idea about learning is to truly get educated one must experience life lessons; while, school is

Zebra Mussel Research Papers
For this assignment, I decided to research the zebra mussel (Dreissena polymorpha). Since we have a
family cabin up in northern Minnesota, this topic especially resonated with me since our lake chain
was recently contaminated. Overall, this article provides a very large variety of useful information. At
the beginning of the article, it gives a detailed summary pertaining to the origin of the zebra mussel
and how one can properly identify it. Since 1824, zebra mussels have spread exponentially. Originally
from the Black Sea, these mollusks traveled into Western Europe by hitchhiking into the ballast tanks
of large ocean going vessels. Eventually in 1988, the zebra mussel was found in the United States
(Lake Erie). Due to the Great Lakes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since zebra mussels must attach to a stable structure, this can cause serious issues for power plants,
water supply facilities, and other industrial buildings which utilize water pipes. When the mussels
clump together, they can constrict the flow of pipes, thus causing reduced performance in air
conditioning, fire equipment, etc. Not only do they harm structures, but they are also responsible for a
depleted population of smaller fish. Because zebra mussels are filter feeders, they can filter vast
amounts of water in a relatively short amount of time. This in turn will greatly reduce the number of
phytoplankton, depriving smaller fish of their means of nutrition. Eventually, this will cause a chain
reaction that can affect an entire food chain.
Zebra mussels do however provide a few extra benefits. Since these mussels filter vast amounts of
water each and every day, it can greatly improve the clarity of water. When the clarity is good, it
allows sunlight to reach greater depths. Because of this, aquatic plants can grow and flourish and a
much higher rate. These plants may then become eventual homes for some fish. Two years after zebra
mussels were first discovered in Lake Erie, the clarity improved by

College Dropout Rates
Enrollment at Utah institutions has steadily risen over the past decade as college has become the social
norm for young adults, but is this a good thing? With more students attending college than ever before,
the dropout rates in Utah colleges has skyrocketed as more and more students realize that college is

enormous number of young adults leaving college without a degree, any marketable skills and mounds

Ebola Virus Is A Serious Virus Disease
Ebola Virus is a serious transmitted disease by both humans and animals. The disease first appeared in
1976 in 2 simultaneous outbreaks, one in Nzara, Sudan, and the other in Yambuku, Democratic
Republic of Congo. The latter occurred in a village near the Ebola River, from which the virus
received its name. Ebola Virus is a member of the negative stranded RNA viruses known as
filoviruses. There are currently, five different strains of the Ebola Virus including, Zaire (EBOV),
Sudan (SUDV), Bundibuguyo (BDBV), Taï Forest (TAFV) and Reston (RESTV). Each of the strains
of the virus are very closely related including Reston which only effects animals. Yet, Ebola Zaire is
the most highly virulent subtype, often leading to death. All of the different types of the virus are
extremely dangerous and often cause death if untreated.
Description:
Ebola is an acute, infectious, hemorrhagic viral fever. It is an enveloped, single stranded,
unsegmented, negative sense RNA virus. The genomes (complete set of genes) of the five different
Ebola viruses differ in sequence and the number and location of gene overlaps. Ebola virons are
filamentous particles that can appear in the shape of a shepherd s crook, a 6 , a U , coiled, toroid or
branched. The virons of the disease are roughly 80 nm (nanometers) in width and can be as long as
14,000 nm. Yet the average length of a viron is approximately 920 nm.

their power by isolating the country, but Pol Pot is not fully responsible for that. There were other

A New York Police Department
Picture a woman standing in a subway station in New York City. Her purse is slung over her shoulder
as she reads the railway map. A thief approaches her from behind and snatches the leather handle of
her purse from her grip. He dashes away as she helplessly watches him go. The woman does not call

distress began to proliferate in late December of 2014 as the NYPD dramatically reduced the number
of arrests made for petty crimes, such as purse theft. The police used the cutback as a response to a

traditions are looked at as being crazy, bizarre, and even strange. There are many different cultures and
unique traditions associated with them, but these are 5 interesting traditions found around the world.
Philippians
In America, children are raised to respect their elders from an early age and this is generally the same
around the world. In the Philippians however, they practice the tradition of Pagmamano. Pagmamano
is a gesture that symbolizes respect for one s elders. It is akin to bowing, with the addition of taking an
elder s hand and pressing it to one s forehead. Americans usually understand to show their elders
respect, but the tradition of Pagmamano shows an actual sign of respect to the elder. This is a very
explicit sign of respect and would show why the Philippian culture treats their elders the way they do.

In America, children are told by their parents that there is a tooth fairy that will bring money if the
child puts their tooth they lost under their pillow. Throughout different cultures around the world, the
same idea is there, but usually with a different name for the tooth fairy . Some other parts of the world
though, do not practice this tradition at all. In Greece and Mauritania, a child does not simply leave his
tooth underneath his pillow. Instead, children throw it as hard and as high as they can toward the roof
of their home. In Greece, this provides good luck and strong teeth. Greece has the tradition of
throwing the tooth to make the child stronger in the future, instead of a monetary

Bmw, The German Automobile, Motorcycle, And Engine...
Bayerische Motoren Werke, modernly known as BMW, is the German automobile, motorcycle, and
engine manufacturing company that was established March 7, 1916. BMW is headquartered in
Munich, Bavaria, Germany and is also the parent company of Rolls Royce Motor Cars ( History of
BMW , 2015). BMW s flourishing success has included the company in the German Big 3 luxury
automakers. The Big 3 includes BMW, Audi, and Mercedes Benz as the best selling luxury
automakers in the world ( History of BMW , 2015). BMW s technological innovation has been a
leading cause to their success. Ultimately, the development and history of their innovation have been

BMW s aircraft engine plant was then forced to close, being that their only product at the time was the
IIIa aero engine ( History of BMW , 2015). Upper management quickly began seeking other
alternatives which resulted in them obtaining a license with a very successful Berlin based company
called Knorr Bremse AG. This partnership was pursued in effort to begin manufacturing brake
systems as a response to survive the cessation of aircraft engine production. The contract was over a
ten year span and was intended to provide BMW with employment and profit until 1930 ( History of
BMW , 2015). This directional shift resulted in great advantage for BMW as manufacturing power
was allocated to BMW from Knorr Bremse AG because they could not handle the demand they were
receiving for manufacturing in their own factories. This allowed BMW to be accessible for
governmental bodies to pursue contracted agreements. Bavarian trains were then fit and prepared for
Knorr brakes in which the Bavarian government contracted with BMW permitting them to be the
official Knorr brake producers of Bavaria because BMW was located in the homeland ( History of
BMW , 2015). Furthermore, these conditions caused the company to pursue greater avenues which
lead to the manufacturing of motorcycle engines. In 1921 BMW created the first motorized bicycle

Rise And Fall Of The Aztec Civilization
Aztec civilization was at its peak when it was conquered and destroyed by Spaniards, this essay will
seek out reasons as to why the Aztec civilization got destroyed. Aztec history lays out as a civilization
of rising innovation, religion, culture, and eventual downfall. The term Aztec refers to the civilization
that was advanced, the people referred to themselves as Mexica. The Aztecs came to rise by
conquering rival tribes which allowed them to create an empire that stretched between the Pacific
Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. Their empire of the Aztecs consisted of about 489 city states under the
rule of Montezuma II from the capital Tenochtitlan. The Aztecs were an agricultural society that relied

The gods in the Aztec culture are considered demanding and only pleased through bloody human
sacrifices that came from the lower class or prisoners (Easton, 398). Some of the gods the Aztecs that
were made offerings to were in charge of the sun, warfare, crops, rain fire, and the dead. Each
direction around the capital had religious significance with its own rituals and colors. The temples
these offerings were made at were decorated with colorful sculptures of feathered serpents such as
Quetzalcoatl (Easton, 399). To be sacrificed was an honor because those who were sacrificed were
guaranteed a place in heaven. The priests would go lengths of flying skin and wearing the victims skin
as part of a ceremony or using obsidian tools to open the chest and take out the victim s heart (Easton,
400). In some cases, there were mass sacrifices such as the people of Huastecs who tried revolting
against the Aztec and therefore all sacrificed (Smith, 6). The religious sacrifices were meant to be a
type of payment or appeasement in order for the gods to bestow gifts to the people of Tenochtitlan.
However, the sacrifices were also used as a tool of fear to control the lower class of Aztecs or instill
fear in its enemies (Smith, 6). The Aztecs used all types of tactics to make their enemies fear them and
to control the lower classes, this was part

The Pros And Cons Of Grief Counseling
Losing a loved one can be a traumatic situation in anyone s life. The bereavement process can take a
tremendous toll on a person. There are no gender, age, sex, color or religion specifics that dictate the
length of grievance, it all depends on the individual. The loss of loved one brings grim magnitudes for
the body and the emotional state of a person and can sometimes be so extreme that it can alter the
health of a human being. Grief counseling eases the bereavement process by providing patients many
methods that will assist in dealing with the pain throughout their life. In multiculturalism people deal
with the loss of a loved one in many forms, what may seem barbaric for one culture is normal in

Hardships that might prompt distress to incorporate the death or departure of a friend or family
member, loss of a vocation, demise or loss of a cherished pet, or any number of different changes in
life. Anybody can encounter melancholy and misfortune. However, every individual is extraordinary
by the way he or she acclimatizes to these attitudes. In dealing with grief counseling, it can be
described and understood as a form of therapy that explicitly focuses on the goal of helping
individuals grieve and address their personal loss in a manner that is not only healthy for them but the
people around them. To work through difficult feelings, thoughts, and memories that have to do with
an associated pain of an individual is the goal of a grief counselor. Many of these strains and types of
loss can include goals, ideals, and relationships. There is a process of grieving that many individuals
do not understand, this can lead to many problems for that individual because the process is something
normal to go through to cope with the given issue. Some of the symptoms that a person may go

Smart Fat Research Paper
Fat is often labeled as the reason for obesity however it seems like there is sufficient proof that fat in
itself does not cause weight gain. In 1977, the Senate Select Committee on Nutrition and Human
Needs recommended a dietary guideline that limited fat intake to no more than 30% per day.
According to statistics, the instances of obesity started to increase around the same time fat was
villanized and low fat products became more popular. Furthermore, similar studies claim that the war
on fat led people to substitute butter and lard with processed low fat food which are high in artificial
flavoring and sugar.
More and more health enthusiasts are learning that not all fat is bad for the body. In fact, recently Dr.
Jonny Bowden and Dr. Steven Masley, a nutrition experts, published their book entitled Smart Fat,
which details the benefits of consuming the right kind of fat to losing weight. ... Show more content

him, it is not good.
He further explains that their Smart Fat diet plan has one basic principle five portions of smart fat, five
portions of clean proteins and 10 servings of fiber. He claims that most of the pitfalls of people who
embrark on a high fat, low carb diet is not including enough fiber in their meal plan. According to the
doctor, fiber helps in the weight loss process and it prevents diabetes and heart disease.
The doctor was quick to explain that more than diet there are many more factors that affect weight
loss. However he seemed more than certain that his fat laden diet is key to losing weight in the

In Aristotle s opinion, a variety of aspects makes a tragedy, a tragedy, such as the incorporation of a tragic figure who happens to have a tragic flaw that leads to the character s demise. He also believes that a tragedy should have what is known as a dramatic irony, which occurs when the audiences knows information the characters in the play does not, thus changing the watcher s perception of the overall story. However, even when Aristotle s expectations of tragedies are oddly specific, it is generally applicable to other tragedies of literary merit, such as stories from Shakespeare and provides an insight as to how the taste and social structure of the ancient Greek times was influenced heavily by the contemporary tragedies. In Macbeth, the tragic hero would definitely be Macbeth himself who had one fateful flaw that determined his future: his unchecked ambition. Due to this one tragic flaw in the makings, Macbeth went from a bright future as king to his demise, which eventually lead to his death. Because of the events that occurred in the latter half of Macbeth s life, the play evokes pity, albeit a little undeserved, from the audience as Macbeth accepts his doom. Furthermore, the playwright elicits fear from the watchers, which is caused by their fear of committing the same mistake as Macbeth. Aristotle believed that inciting fear and pity from the audience is part of what makes a tragedy, a tragedy. • 12. Summary Of The Abduction Of Europa The painting I found at the Dallas Museum of Art is a work done by Jean Baptiste Marie Pierre. It is entitled The Abduction of Europa , it is a depiction of an episode coming from the narrative Ovid s Metamorphoses. In this painting, Zeus manifests himself as a bull and comes to lift Europa out of the sea. She then ascends out of the water on the back of the bull into the heavens. This work of art comes to life through its usage of the fundamental elements and principles of art. The usage of the lines in this painting establishes emphasis and develops subtle nuances in the structure of the piece. The figures above the sea: namely the cherubs and the large birdlike figure possess thinly defined lines outlining them. The cherub in the top left corner with the string of flower petals has a long implied line going into the distance. The wings of the birdlike figure in the sky have a horizontal line on the left wing and a curved line on the right wing. This develops the outline and shape of the birdlike creature. The lines that surround the clouds are curved and thinly defined as well. In the bottom, right corner of the painting there is a man whose hand is reached out to touch the chin of the bull. The lines of the rib cage and upper body muscles of this man are very thick. The lines on this man are much more defined than the other people in the painting. This is meant to establish a subtle sense of struggle with this man, while he is attempting to flee the sea. Europa s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Additionally, leases do not constrict cash flows to the same extent as purchasing. (3) Introduction E2 uses its direct genomic effect to regulate gene expression throughout the brain. In its classical mechanism E2, or any other estrogen or estrogen like compound, will bind to the ERα or ERβ receptor forming a complex, which will then act as a transcription factor, which will either activate or inhibit specific genes by binding as a dimer directly to an estrogen response element (ERE). When E2 or other estrogens are not present, a heat shock protein inhibits potential activity. (6) E2 can also act through ERE independent mechanisms, or indirect genomic actions, such as activating multiple intracellular kinase cascades by binding to other membrane associated estrogen receptors (mER). • 24. Comparison Of Phaethon And Daedalus And Icarus In the two Greek myths, Phaethon and Daedalus and Icarus , the main characters go through a major trial that enforces their pride, which eventually leads to their death. The literary elements in these two myths include characters, imagery, and conflict. These elements help the author express the bright scenes, understandable reasonings, and unfortunate downfalls. The lesson in both tales is equivalent, as the theme is: A prideful disregard of the warning from those who are older and wiser can quickly lead to disastrous consequences. However, the way this present this lesson is what makes it different from each other. The main characters being Phaethon, Daedalus, Icarus imagery, and conflict all work together to form the theme. Certain people help form the common motif of these two myths. To prove this, in Phaethon , Phaethon s self centered trait leads him from burning the earth, to freezing it, and eventually, to Zeus killing him. All of this because he craved attention, as it states, How many people are watching me, me, me! (pg. 53, par. 64). Like it shows, his attention makes him ending up dead. When it says, ...Me, me, me... it explains how he wanted the recognition. This reckless behavior shows Phaethon s pridefulness as well, just as wanting attention shows how better you think you are. Continuing on this, Icarus also ends up being swallowed with self confidence, but in a more smug way. He thinks he s an expert flier and believes he can go even higher than the sun, as he quotes, Think you re (the sun) the highest thing in the sky, do you? Because of these actions performed by Icarus, it is obvious to see how carefree he is. This sentence can connect with the theme, as the prideful disregard he committed was to his father, a wise and clever man. He warned, Don t fly too close to the sun! but alas, Icarus completely neglects his caution. It is easy to predict Icarus s recklessness will lead him to his doom. Therefore, the actions of the characters really do help set up the downfalls, as in both texts, it explains how their pride blinds them from the consequences. The imagery in these stories is an important step in making the theme as well. In Phaethon, it shows a vivid image of him ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Without a doubt, a tremendously capable character in the book The Crown by Kiera Cass would be Eadlyn Schreave. To be capable is to be able to do the task at hand. Ed O Bannon, a previous UCLA basketball player filed a case looking to sue the NCAA for licensing players without consent. The NCAA marks their players as amateurs, therefore, they do not allow paying players. However after the ruling, the NCAA was found to be violating antitrust laws, which could potentially change the model of the system (Maese). Judge Claudia Wilken ruled an injunction that schools in the NCAA would be allowed to provide players a trust fund in order to compensate players for using their names in broadcasting, merchandise or imaging. In 2016, this trust fund will allow universities to conduct bidding wars for future recruits (Strauss, Tracy). This of course, would be able to be capped at a certain mark and would not be payable until after the departure of a student athlete s time at a college or the end of their eligibility (Berkowitz) This court case could potentially change the way college sports are run. Marc Edelman, a writer for forbes.com, argues his point in 21 Reasons Why Student Athletes Are Employees And Should Be Allowed To Unionize is for the movement to pay players. Edelman focuses his point on NCAA programs being large revenue businesses and in his opinion should consider student athletes as employees. With this, he explains that student athletes have to work an average of 43.3 hours a week and oftentimes forced to miss class due to NCAA playoff scheduling (Edelman). Edelman goes on to compare ... Overall, this article provides a very large variety of useful information. At the beginning of the article, it gives a detailed summary pertaining to the origin of the zebra mussel and how one can properly identify it. Since 1824, zebra mussels have spread exponentially. Originally from the Black Sea, these mollusks traveled into Western Europe by hitchhiking into the ballast tanks of large ocean going vessels. Since zebra mussels must attach to a stable structure, this can cause serious issues for power plants, water supply facilities, and other industrial buildings which utilize water pipes. When the mussels clump together, they can constrict the flow of pipes, thus causing reduced performance in air conditioning, fire equipment, etc. Not only do they harm structures, but they are also responsible for a depleted population of smaller fish. Because zebra mussels are filter feeders, they can filter vast amounts of water in a relatively short amount of time. This in turn will greatly reduce the number of phytoplankton, depriving smaller fish of their means of nutrition. Eventually, this will cause a chain reaction that can affect an entire food chain. Zebra mussels do however provide a few extra benefits. Since these mussels filter vast amounts of water each and every day, it can greatly improve the clarity of water. When the clarity is good, it allows sunlight to reach greater depths. Because of this, aquatic plants can grow and flourish and a much higher rate. These plants may then become eventual homes for some fish. Two years after zebra mussels were first discovered in Lake Erie, the clarity improved by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
