Top 10 Major Record Labels Nowadays Essay
Top 10 Major Record Labels Nowadays. Music and Business Music has several functions in the
society, such as the expression of emotions; creation of joy; communication; entertainment;
integration of a society; and the continuity of culture. These functions of music make music a human
need, which results in humans demanding for music. The human need or demand for music makes
music a valuable item (good). Therefore, humans (artists) create music as a good that can be sold for
revenues and profits. This is how music relates to business. Music is a good that many people (artists)
and business (record labels) are involved in its production, distribution, and sale for profits. In fact,
musicians have to acquire business skills that will help them manage their public image, organize for
tours and shows, design their merchandise, and build a loyal fan base. This is how music and business
are related. Main Problems Faced by Musicians Music is an industry that has a number of aspiring
artists wishing to be mainstream musicians. The road from aspirations to the establishment as a
mainstream artist is often marred with a lot of problems. These problems are failure to attract record
labels with demos; failure to have one s songs reviewed in local and national newspapers and
magazines; failure to attract people to one s show; meeting con promoters, who are not serious about
developing one and one s work, and running out of money in the course one s struggles. Successful

Therefore the root cause of communalism is not the presence of many religions in the country. When

Mirror sites are valuable when the original site creates an excessive amount of traffic to support single
server. Mirror sites likewise expand the pace with which files or websites can be gotten to, clients can
download documents all the more rapidly from a server that is topographically closer to them. For
instance, if an occupied New York based Web webpage sets up a mirror website in England, clients in
Europe can get to the mirror website quicker than the original site in New York. Sites, for example,
Netscape that offer duplicates or upgrades of famous programming regularly set up mirror sites to
handle the expansive request that a solitary site will most likely be unable to handle. A huge number of
people download file in the Server/Client model. The single most issue for productive exchange is that
servers typically have some control over the clients, for example, limiting the permitted data transfer
capacity for one IP addresses. However for a user that needs an extensive data transfer capacity and
ensured association, it can be an issue. Actually when there is no transfer speed limitation, for a crisis
circumstance, a requesting client must rival different clients. In light of TCP fairness, a needy client

The Career Of A Naval Nurse
The famous Helen Keller once said The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or
even touched they must be felt with the heart. When a girl was younger before her grandfather passed
away he used to tell her all about the adventures he went on as a kid. He talked about how he and his
brothers used to get in trouble playing with toy guns and pretending they were soldiers. When he grew
up into a handsome young gentleman he went and joined the Navy. Every time she went to him he
always told her a new adventure he and the boys (the crew) would go on. He was her inspiration to

The article Why It Pays to Get Inside the Head of Your Opponent looks at the effects of two social

are studied in this article to determine the possible different effects they each have on the outcome of
negotiations.

Basically, creating a positive atmosphere for the other side making willingness to engage in a
negotiation in the first place more likely in setting a foundation for a positive experience expectation
for future negotiations.
In my opinion, the results in different relationship context would have been interesting to study. For
example, looking at the influences of perspective taking and empathy approaches in intimate
relationships.
I would guess that empathy would be rated higher for the success of negotiation in intimate
relationships.
Perspective taking can be motivated by trying to get the upper hand where as empathy is motivated by
a perspective of equality. Perspective taking only perhaps can be misleading in that it may give the
person the impression that their concern is important to the other person because their concerns are
valued which I think essentially means that they are valued. It would be conflicting if someone valued
another but had no regard for another s values regardless if they held the same values.
Empathy, I think, is sincere, genuine honest approach that fosters trust and effects the ability to have
closer relationships. You can t fake empathy. The other person can sense that fakeness. It is that
genuineness that leads to trust that is a base of intimacy. When we are emotionally

Causes And Disadvantages Of Refugees
Explained below is a summary of the proposed plan, which entails a basic reasoning that refugees will
need to survive, including medical care, nutrition, water, sanitation services, shelter, education, and
jobs. Possessing access to medical attention protects and preserves the longevity of the population
while averting epidemics, diseases, and other harmful pathogens. If one s diet lacks sufficient
nutritional intake of fruits, vegetables, and other food varieties, they become deficient in receiving
essential amounts of vitamins and minerals necessary in fighting diseases. For example, chronic
deficiencies of vitamin A can lead to xeropthalmia and blindness in childhood, while iron deficiency
can lead to anemia, vitamin C deficiency leads to scurvy, niacin deficiency causes pellagra, and
thiamin deficiency results in beriberi (Food, Water, Sanitation, and Housing in Refugee Camps, Para.
1, 2010). Furthermore, the access to fresh water provides minerals that also fight these deficiencies .
The quality of water is vital and an important health matter. When there is a shortage of clean water
there is a chance that the occurrence of bacteria that cause diarrhea and cholera are present. Bacteria
like, diarrhea most often results from the ingestion of pathogens from excrement that has not been
disposed of properly, or from the lack of hygiene (Who.int. 2011). By implementing a plan to ensure
that the water quality is safe is of utmost importance given the numerous risks

Friendship is like a blossoming sprout in spring. At first it is dainty and fragile but as it cultivates into
an elegant flower, it grows more and more robust. Sometimes the biting winds of hate and deceit can
knock the blooming flower down but that is not the case in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014). This
intricate storyline follows Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) and the estranged band of aliens later known as the
Guardians of the Galaxy. When one watches this motion picture, it can be substantiated that friendship
can be unearthed in the most unlikely niches, with the most unlikely inhabitants, and in the most
unlikely manners. As the film commences, the audience is met with a view of the severe panorama;

Confederation And Constitution ( Ginger )
Confederation and Constitution (Ginger) After winning independence from Great Britain in 1776, the
United States was in need of an organized national government, clearly defined in written form. The
first Continental Congress drafted the Articles of confederation the following year, though it would
not be ratified until 1781. The Articles provided the framework for a centralized government but
ultimately were not strong enough to enforce its own requirements. A new constitution was needed.
Congressional leaders began the process of drafting another document that would strengthen the weak
federal government while continuing to ensure individual liberties. The Constitution of the United
States was ratified in 1787 after much debate and compromise. (Charters of Freedom A More Perfect

Russia was a rural country that once had regime. The majority of Russia was profoundly poor and the
few that were rich were extremely wealthy. Their last ruler had been Tsar Nicholas II who was not a
natural leader; in fact most people could describe him as a reluctant and feeble monarch. Russia
suffered numerous revolutions and defeats in wars under the regime. As a result their country was
damaged, economically and socially. Russia was poverty stricken particularly in the countryside
where the peasants lived. There were food shortages and a demand for land from the peasants. By

The Tsar lost most if not all support and the Government seemed merely incompetent. Four years after
the Tsar was overthrown on March 15th 1917 Russia was still in despair and underwent numerous
revolutions and civil war with a Provisional (temporary) Government. This Government chose to
continue the war and failed to deal with the land and food issues of Russia. They felt threatened by the
Petrograd Soviets who spoke of the change the people wanted and were evidently supported by the
soldiers and workers.
Many revolutionary groups had emerged. There were the Marxists, Social Democratic Party and the
Social Revolutionaries. They all believed that a revolution would rise because of the exploitation in
the urban industries as the government did not protect the workers as well as the common discontent
of the peasants. The Social Democratic Party divided into two factions: the Mensheviks and
Bolsheviks. The Mensheviks were the minority and believed that co operating with other opposition

1.3 Techniques for Opinion Mining
Opinion mining (also known as sentiment analysis) focuses mainly on two things, first identifying
whether the text is subjective or objective and then determining the polarity of the subject [3]. Opinion
words in the text mostly contribute towards the subjectivity of the text. These opinion words together
inform about the emotional context of the text. Objective words contribute towards the factual
construct of the text. There are three most common approaches used for determining the sentimental
content of a text
¬ Lexical Analysis
This is basically a dictionary approach. The text under analysis is converted into tokens. Each token is
then matched with the dictionary. If the match is positive, it increments the total score of the text so
far, else there is a decrement in the text score if there is a negative match. For example, the word
beautiful will increment the total score since it is a positive match. It is a basic but very efficient
technique. One major drawback of this approach is that its accuracy and efficiency degrades
drastically with the growth of the size of the dictionary

the popularity of this brand has benefited drastically from it. Starbucks has become more than just a

Callaway Golf Company began to take form in 1983, after Ely Reeves Callaway Jr. sold Callaway

The Causes Of Forest Fires
There are more than 100,000 forest fires a year and 4 to 5 million of acres burn in the US every year.
Forest Management can help make our forests healthier and more clean if we took more consideration
into forest management then we can save homes, people, and animals habitat. The biggest fuel for
forest fire is dead vegetation that hasn t been cleared out. Between 1920 and 1950 10 to 50 million
acres burned each year. If we keep letting forest fires burn more and more acres every year the world
is gonna go up in flames. Let s stop the forest fires and make forest management a bigger deal in our
lives. Forest fires are destroying people s homes all the time. Last year in the US 4,312 structures were
destroyed by forest fires, including more than 3,000 homes and more than 70 commercial buildings.
Forests fires can be minimized if forest management is put into place. For an example the biggest fuel
for wildfires is dead vegetation and trees. If we took time in the forests to clean up the dead vegetation
and take the dead trees out then when forest fires do occur they wouldn t have a lot to burn off of. Fire
burns faster and spreads quicker on dead trees and plants then alive plants. Forest can also be healthier
and more aesthetically pleasing. If we kept the forest more healthy and cleared out all the dead plants
then it would leave more room for small flowers and smaller plants and trees to grow. The forest could
be growing with vegetation that was never able to grow

Organism, Community And Ecosystem Approaches To Study Ecology
1.) When taking the organism, population, community and ecosystem approaches to study ecology one
needs consider that there are levels that layout the specific details of what each approach is. For
organism approach, the processes look at the way an individual live in an environment and how this
individual behaves and adaption within its surrounding. The population approach concerns over a
group of organisms, the number of female and male, the differences within organisms, the similarity
that they share, and their genetic makeup within a whole population. The processes and structures to
understand the community deal with understanding of the diversity and different groups of organisms
living in the same place. The ecosystem approach looks at the overall chemical reaction which is the
transfer of energy and matter to make life possible. The processes occur in the atmosphere, aquatic,
and on land.

Water resists flow and the movement of organisms, which makes it hard for organisms with denser
bones to move. Physical structures such as bones and some proteins are dense and most likely make

For example as Ricklefs mentions many fish species have a gas filled swim bladder whose size can be
adjusted to make their bodies equal to the surrounding water. Small marine creatures have long
filamentous appendages that take advantage of the viscosity and also prevent sinking. Adaptations of
aquatic organisms have make water as an easy way to move around in the

Perfume
Perfume Commentary Throughout the story Perfume by Patrick Suskind, Grenouille is presented as an
outsider who is a product of both social and moral decay shown through his birth, description of the
setting and description of Grenouille s characteristics. Grenouille was born in the malodorous fish
market of Paris in the 18th century , where the 18th century was a period of tragedy and chaos where
foul smells were everywhere. Moreover, Grenouille being born in a fish market indicates the evil and
unnatural nature of Grenouille as he is born in the worst smelling, filthiest and unnatural place in
Paris. Even more, being born in a fish market in a pile of fish guts shows Grenouille as a victim of
social decay where society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Grenouille is further conveyed as a victim of social decay when upper class supposedly high ranked
and highly respected people are portrayed as fools and almost idiots. Through Comic Irony Father
Terrier is seen as an uneducated fool and childish when using the phrase poohpeedooh . The repetition
of this phrase further illustrates the foolish nature of a highly respected person showing social decay.
Moreover, presenting the upper class in France as silly and foolish shows the decay of society and
how even foolish people such as Father Terrier are respected and looked up to making Grenouille a
victim to this social decay as well as an outsider as he does not respect these foolish upper class
people and does not follow the demands of society. Similarly, Grenouille is again seen as an outsider
when society refuses to accept him. His mother leaves him to die in a pile of fish guts and many others
refuse to take him in, leaving him as an unwanted outsider. Again this foreshadows his future actions
of violence and murder when society rejects him and many people act on their basic instincts and
leave him to die suggesting a sense of evil in him. Grenouille is further shown as an outsider when he
is described to have a lack of scent . This lack of scent clearly shows he

How Did Ancient Greek Art Change Throughout The...
Throughout the Ancient Greece era, sculptures have evolved from simple to complex, strict to relax,
and idealistic to realistic. It started in the Geometric period focused on clarity and precision displaying
geometric forms. The Orientalizing period was mainly for the trading with Egypt and Mesopotamia.
Orientalizing created ways of gathering stories and ideas. In the Archaic period, most sculptures were
focused based on the linear part of the human figure which stood stiffly and the introduction of the
Archaic smile. The next period was the Early and High Classical in which lead to the Early Classical
having a fascination with extreme movement and the High Classical using the triumph of order over
chaos approach. Late Classical created a decline in democracy and started using individualism to
express instead of idealism. The Hellenistic period launched new concepts such as personifications of
abstract ideas, introduced theatricality and were often exaggerated/ intensified which showed the
worst aspects of mankind. During the Late Hellenistic period, Ancient Greek culture was commonly
expressed with a wide variety of paintings and sculptures. From the death of Alexander the Great to

The archaic smile was a form of emotion that did not help explain the stories of hurt or sadness but
made pain look pleasant. Also, the pose of the sculptures never aligned with the action. When artists

poses. In the artisan statue, the artisan stands with his head down to show tiredness and his arm draped

The Flaws of the Socratic Method
The Flaws of the Socratic Method
In Plato s Republic, as well as in most of his other works, the philosopher writes dialogues between
the character of his mentor, Socrates, and various figures meant to illustrate contradictory positions.
He carefully scripts the engagements in a form of discussion now called the Socratic Method, where
Socrates critiques the positions of the other characters in order to find flaws in inaccurate arguments.
Although this method is prevalent even today, I will make the case that even when Plato himself is
using it, the Socratic Method, while not without benefits, is an extremely flawed way of conducting
educational discourse.
The Socratic Method is a dialectic method of argument, meaning that the ... Show more content on

The very nature of the Socratic Method makes for long and winding discussions, because the Method
aims to strip away any falsehoods but provides few tools for building towards the truths for which it
aims. Without a way to cull the ideas presented by the students, a professor must engage each of them
as comprehensively as the next regardless of their accuracy, or else compromise the integrity of the
dialogue. If he or she instead opts to inseminate information in a more traditional education style, each
lecture and discussion can be tailored to divulge a specific concept and a specific and relevant set of
arguments and objections can be presented and rejected, rather than struggling through a freeform
conversation with inconsistent results varying from classroom to classroom (Ford 3) (Chen and
Taylor).
Additionally, the constant refutation of students necessitated by a teacher engaging them in a Socratic
Dialectic has a questionable impact on the academic outlook of students. Christopher Ford describes
the modern usage of the Socratic Method as psychologically abusive, saying that the public
questioning is terrifying and that the style is both invasive in that student s knowledge/intelligence is
publically examined, and evasive in that the professor hides the ball from the students. This practice of
systematically and ruthlessly deconstructing any and all flaws in a student s argument can be
extremely humiliating and can trigger

Personal Leisure Research Paper
My Personal Leisure As I get older, I find myself realizing I have spent too much time working. Being
consumed by my work, I felt I was doing what needed to be done to support my family. This was a
struggle for me because I thought I had to be the solution to the problems at work. This resulted in me
being at home less and working more. In the article Downshifting, it talks about how culture has
consumed leisure instead of creating it. Today consumerism has consumed us in the sense that we are
trapped by money, and those elements of creativity and sociability found in leisure are disappearing

healthy for my relationship with my family. My job continued to take advantage of that weakness.
According to a reading from Pieper, intellectual work the exaggerated value which is put upon the

look of the worker : the fixed, mask like readiness to suffer in vacuo, without relation to anything

me in like a vacuum. I had continued support of family with the decisions I was making, but my

Through the submission of my statement I am willing to share my personal abilities, declare my

in the field of Forensic Psychology. Obtaining a PsyD in Forensic Psychology will not only provide
me with more specific knowledge and research opportunities at the graduate level, but it will serve as

The reason which led me to apply for a DForPsy degree in Nottingham university rather than a Ph.D.

A particularly important factor in choosing this career path has been my undergraduate experience

Angelina Grimke Catharine Beecher
Angelina Grimke s public appeal for the institution of the human rights of all moral beings is
ultimately superior to Catharine Beecher s doctrine of female supremacy limited to the domestic
sphere. Both women are visionaries of their era offering contrasting views of women s proper place in

winner of this debate . Compelling reasons for Grimke s historical success can be seen in the women s

American Dream And The American Dream
Americans have long held an idea of success that has been defined by upward movement in finance
and family. This idea of success has been called the American Dream. The Dream started when
colonists in the 1700s came to America to find their own idea of success. Today, the American Dream
can be recognized as upward social mobility and strong relationships. Passion, privilege, and hope are
factors that affect an individual s money and relationships which are integral parts of achieving the
American Dream.
Money is needed for general well being, to provide for food, clothes, and shelter. Without basic
necessities, the need for emotional fulfillment is of lesser importance until the necessities are found.
When a person has their basic needs met, they can shift their focus from survival to living life as an
individual. Passion drives people to their goals and for many, money is a way to achieve their passion.
The eponymous character in The Great Gatsby had his passion and his goal, which was to marry
Daisy and amassing wealth was the best way he knew how to achieve that goal. He especially tries to
prove he has money to Daisy when he is showing her all of his expensive shirts (Fitzgerald 49).
Gatsby s goal was heavily dependent on Daisy s approval of him. He knew she would never marry
him if he was poor so money became his primary focus. Once he had the money, he needed the
relationship to achieve what he perceived as his dream, meaning Daisy would have had to leave Tom

The Monster Of Living With Grief

The Monster of Living with Grief
As Keanu Reeves once said, Grief changes shapes, but it never ends ( Tragic ). When it comes to grief
there are usually five shapes or stages that people go through: denial, anger, bargaining, depression
and, finally, acceptance. The book A Monster Calls, by Patrick Ness, is about a young boy who is
struggling with school, bullies, friends, and family when his mother develops a terminal illness. He is
visited by the monster, a massive yew tree, who comes alive to teach Conor the ways of the world. He
also teaches Conor the truth in order to move past his mother s sickness. Ness shows how people in
both literature and real life tend to go through five stages of grief while dealing with a loved one who
has a terminal illness because of the overwhelming lamentation it inflicts.
The first stage of grief is as the sharks say in Finding Nemo, DENIAL. In the book, Conor s grandma
told him that his mother s condition would not get better with one of the new treatments. He denied it
by saying, The treatments are making her better... (42). Even though the treatments had not worked,
Conor refused to believe that the treatments will not work because he needs his mother to get better.
The American Psychological Association says that most people deny the problem because it is easier
to distance oneself from friends or family. Once a person isolates from those who can help, it can lead

Summary Of The Art Of Failure By Malcolm Gladwell
The Art of Failure
In the essay, The Art of Failure by Malcolm Gladwell we are given the meanings of choking and
panicking while being in a stressful situation. Gladwell began to illustrate his writing by giving us
other people s story, with the stories of Jana Novotna, John F Kennedy Jr, to name a few. Gladwell
starts off by telling the story of Jana Novotna a professional volleyball player who developed stress
when she saw who her opponent was, as she was getting near her chance of winning the
championship; she lost it when choking took over her.
As Jana developed choking while playing she began thinking of her shots and lost her fluidity, her
touch as the author said in the essay in pg. 267 (first paragraph, second sentence). The author
describes Chocking as a failure, as he says to choke or to panic is the same to quit . Malcolm Gladwell
gives a description to what choking is in the world of sports. Choking is when a person under stress
begins to focus more on how they are doing or on other things that they then begin to lose track of
what they are doing.
The author also briefly puts in the story of the New York Yankees second baseman Chuck Knoblauch,
who developed sports shocking while playing in front of thousands of fans, Knoblauch had trouble
throwing the ball to first base, while stressing Knoblauch found himself reverting to explicit mode,
throwing like a Little Leaguer again , as the author said in pg. 267 (last paragraph) Choking is also

If he or she instead opts to inseminate information in a more traditional education style, each lecture and discussion can be tailored to divulge a specific concept and a specific and relevant set of arguments and objections can be presented and rejected, rather than struggling through a freeform conversation with inconsistent results varying from classroom to classroom (Ford 3) (Chen and Taylor). Additionally, the constant refutation of students necessitated by a teacher engaging them in a Socratic Dialectic has a questionable impact on the academic outlook of students. Christopher Ford describes the modern usage of the Socratic Method as psychologically abusive, saying that the public questioning is terrifying and that the style is both invasive in that student s knowledge/intelligence is publically examined, and evasive in that the professor hides the ball from the students. This practice of systematically and ruthlessly deconstructing any and all flaws in a student s argument can be extremely humiliating and can trigger ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Personal Leisure Research Paper My Personal Leisure As I get older, I find myself realizing I have spent too much time working. Being consumed by my work, I felt I was doing what needed to be done to support my family. This was a struggle for me because I thought I had to be the solution to the problems at work. This resulted in me being at home less and working more. In the article Downshifting, it talks about how culture has consumed leisure instead of creating it. Today consumerism has consumed us in the sense that we are trapped by money, and those elements of creativity and sociability found in leisure are disappearing (Junui, quoted by Hemingway 2000). I had no balance between work and family life. This was not healthy for my relationship with my family. My job continued to take advantage of that weakness. According to a reading from Pieper, intellectual work the exaggerated value which is put upon the difficult simply because it is difficult becomes evident in the accentuation of a particular trait in the look of the worker : the fixed, mask like readiness to suffer in vacuo, without relation to anything (Pieper, 1952). This is referring to how my employer sees me as a hard worker and knows how to suck me in like a vacuum. I had continued support of family with the decisions I was making, but my family/work balance would not get any better. Two years ago, I decided to go back to school which limited my spare or disposable time (Juniu, 2000) with the family. Modern ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Obtaining a PsyD in Forensic Psychology will not only provide me with more specific knowledge and research opportunities at the graduate level, but it will serve as a foundation for a career in Psychology. • 38. American Dream And The American Dream Americans have long held an idea of success that has been defined by upward movement in finance and family. This idea of success has been called the American Dream. The Dream started when colonists in the 1700s came to America to find their own idea of success. Today, the American Dream can be recognized as upward social mobility and strong relationships. Passion, privilege, and hope are factors that affect an individual s money and relationships which are integral parts of achieving the American Dream. Money is needed for general well being, to provide for food, clothes, and shelter. Without basic necessities, the need for emotional fulfillment is of lesser importance until the necessities are found. When a person has their basic needs met, they can shift their focus from survival to living life as an individual. Passion drives people to their goals and for many, money is a way to achieve their passion. The eponymous character in The Great Gatsby had his passion and his goal, which was to marry Daisy and amassing wealth was the best way he knew how to achieve that goal. He especially tries to prove he has money to Daisy when he is showing her all of his expensive shirts (Fitzgerald 49). Gatsby s goal was heavily dependent on Daisy s approval of him. He knew she would never marry him if he was poor so money became his primary focus. Once he had the money, he needed the relationship to achieve what he perceived as his dream, meaning Daisy would have had to leave Tom for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Monster Of Living With Grief Abby Wigand Mr. Mitchell Communication Art IV 30 September 2016 The Monster of Living with Grief As Keanu Reeves once said, Grief changes shapes, but it never ends ( Tragic ). When it comes to grief there are usually five shapes or stages that people go through: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and, finally, acceptance. The book A Monster Calls, by Patrick Ness, is about a young boy who is struggling with school, bullies, friends, and family when his mother develops a terminal illness. He is visited by the monster, a massive yew tree, who comes alive to teach Conor the ways of the world. He also teaches Conor the truth in order to move past his mother s sickness. Ness shows how people in both literature and real life tend to go through five stages of grief while dealing with a loved one who has a terminal illness because of the overwhelming lamentation it inflicts. The first stage of grief is as the sharks say in Finding Nemo, DENIAL. In the book, Conor s grandma told him that his mother s condition would not get better with one of the new treatments. He denied it by saying, The treatments are making her better... (42). Even though the treatments had not worked, Conor refused to believe that the treatments will not work because he needs his mother to get better. The American Psychological Association says that most people deny the problem because it is easier to distance oneself from friends or family. • 42. Summary Of The Art Of Failure By Malcolm Gladwell The Art of Failure In the essay, The Art of Failure by Malcolm Gladwell we are given the meanings of choking and panicking while being in a stressful situation. Gladwell began to illustrate his writing by giving us other people s story, with the stories of Jana Novotna, John F Kennedy Jr, to name a few. Gladwell starts off by telling the story of Jana Novotna a professional volleyball player who developed stress when she saw who her opponent was, as she was getting near her chance of winning the championship; she lost it when choking took over her. As Jana developed choking while playing she began thinking of her shots and lost her fluidity, her touch as the author said in the essay in pg. 267 (first paragraph, second sentence). The author describes Chocking as a failure, as he says to choke or to panic is the same to quit . Malcolm Gladwell gives a description to what choking is in the world of sports. Choking is when a person under stress begins to focus more on how they are doing or on other things that they then begin to lose track of what they are doing. The author also briefly puts in the story of the New York Yankees second baseman Chuck Knoblauch, who developed sports shocking while playing in front of thousands of fans, Knoblauch had trouble throwing the ball to first base, while stressing Knoblauch found himself reverting to explicit mode, throwing like a Little Leaguer again , as the author said in pg. 267 (last paragraph) Choking is also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Buddhism has a similar concept, dhamma (note even the linguistic similarity). Dhamma does not imply specific biological or social obligations, but maintains a comparable philosophical construct. The Buddhist definition of right conduct and personal obligation, dhamma is the path which must be taken to escape the suffering of worldly life. Other similarities between Hinduism and Buddhism are more apparent. Both religions maintain a broad perspective of religious worship. Hinduism is polytheistic while Buddhism maintains no structured belief in an independent, sentient god like entity (especially in human form). Either of these concepts yields a malleable religion which can adjust and conform to local tradition and fluctuations in intellectual and spiritual thought. Both religions believe in a system of reincarnation, and both religions emphasize the community over the self. The major rift between the two religions seems to stem from the role of social structure in the two religions. Hinduism s caste system perpetuates a fatalism and apathy toward social rights and advancement while reinforcing the ruling establishment. Buddhism concentrates on the individual s release from suffering, implying no overriding social definition. The outstanding example of Hinduism s establishment tendencies is the caste system.
