Long before we find out about Norman s split personality, we see glimpses of a darker side. When
Norman has dinner with Marion, he leans forwards as he speaks about putting his mother in an
institution. The lighting of his face at an angle to illuminate the area around his eyes but casting a

see this view of Norman, the background shifts to a more fierce looking bird on the wall. Another

Norman looks incapable of large amounts of strength as well as a character wise, unable to kill a
person, let alone be a serial killer. The shower scene was a very good visual example of how the idea
of schizophrenic murder was successfully dealt with in the film. The shower scene showed Marion
Crane, a young woman who had just been subtly persuaded by Norman to repent of her recent crime,
and so was washing herself physically and symbolically in the shower. Washing away her sin and
guilt, because in the morning she would own up to her crime, pay for it, and start again, guilt free.
This worked well to add greater emphasis on the shower scene, because at this turning point in the plot
we see she has made a good decision to set things right. It is almost unbelievable that Marion could be
murdered at this high point. Nonetheless, the film goes on with her murder, which is a very shocking
sequence because it happens quickly; as the knife stabs Marion, we see the figure of Mrs. Bates a
figure in a dress with a woman s hat on. We are led to assume it is Mrs. Bates, and we are given a big

Capital Budgeting Is An Investment Appraisal Essay
Capital budgeting is an investment appraisal, and is the single most important decision made by a
company s finance and exec team. It is the planning process used to determine whether an
organization s long term venture(s) are worth the investment through the firm s debt, equity or
retained earnings. One of the primary goals is to increase the value of the firm to the shareholders. The
process of capital budgeting involves analyzing, evaluating and deciding whether resources should be
allocated to a project (Lowengrub session 6 slides) . Several methods to evaluate incremental cash
flows from each possible investment option.
Net present value, expressed as is the method used to compare the present value of cash inflows to
cash outflows. A positive NPV specifies that the projected incomes from the investment surpasses the
estimated costs. Typically, in this case, a positive NVP will show a good ROI and if vice versa, will
yield in a loss, therefore a project should be accepted with a result of a positive NPV.
The Internal Rate of Return compares the firms cost of capital to the rate of return that makes the net
cash flows from a project equal to the project s cost (Lowengrub, 2016). The IRR is the interest rate at
which the NPV of all the cash flows from a project equal zero. If the internal rate of return of an
investment/project surpasses a company s required rate of return, that project could be accepted.

I want to see myself thru God s eyes, and have no shame.
I was brought up to understand the differences between right wrong.
Before entering an OR
I justified my actions thru dishonesty and lies.
In the end, it was my own agony that made me understand, that I had to admit to defeat.
Somehow, along the way I seemed to have lost my integrity.
I was shocked to see, what has become acceptable to me.
I crossed many boundaries, and thought to myself that I didn t need any regulations.

The things I said I would never do, I have done
However the most upsetting lie I said, were not the ones I said to you.
They were the ones I said to myself, the ones I came to believe were true.
Until I was given forgiven.
In spite of the things I did to myself and to others
I must now incorporate into my soul, the meaning of Integrity:
Loyalty to ethical and moral principles, understanding of moral character honesty.
Integrity has to be lodged into my mind, body and soul.
This is what I must live by, working in an OR.
I thought I could live by my rules, my way
I thought to myself, that I was the princess in my own castle; however I came to realize that
I was just a poor servant taking orders from the Queen.
What a fool I was!
I will no longer choose to construct emotional or spiritual walls.
When I chose not to practice my decisions based on integrity,
I reinforced and intensified my emotional spiritual walls with my own shame and guilt.
I refused to take the blame, so I blamed others instead.
Until all that I saw;
Was my absence of integrity.
