Confinement For Juveniles
Alternatives to secure detention and confinement for juveniles are approaches that help avoid
juveniles from being detained in a secure detention facility or a confinement facility. Secure detention
facilities hold juveniles who are entering into the juvenile justice system generally for two specific
reasons. Those reasons are to ensure the juvenile will be in attendance for all court hearings and for
the safeguard of the community from future crimes. Confinement facilities house juveniles that have
been adjudicated and assigned to the custody of correctional facilities. Secure detention and
confinement of juveniles tend to do more harm than good. Research has shown that secure detention
and confinement facilities have a negative effect on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, placing a juvenile in secure facilities hinders the juvenile s developmental process, leads
to depression, and increases the risk of suicide or other self harm. Placed in detention or a confinement
facility, the juvenile is cut off from conventional opportunities for growth, and any positive ties he or
she may have had in the community are severed (Alternatives to Detention and Confinement, 2005).
There are several alternatives to secure detention and confinement for juveniles such as home
detention and electronic monitoring, community based programs, and residential placements. Home
detention may require the juvenile to remain home at all times, except to and from school or work.
They are supervised daily along with random drug test and counseling. Electronic monitoring is done
with an electronic device placed either on the ankle

Descriptive Writing About Water Park
The Water Park Morgan, Morgan where are you? I shouted loudly. That was me in fear not knowing
where my best friend was, this is because I go on trips with my best friend every year to different
states. Somehow she got lost this time, so I will tell you about the one of weirdest experiences I have
ever had with her. Just a reminder for myself is to keep an eye on the people you came with.
My best friend Morgan and I have been best friends since baby care. We have been through thick and
thin for the past 12 years. Morgan s brother Gene has been doing baseball for a traveling team since he
was 8. Since he plays on a travel team they normally go out of state to play baseball, so they usually
will invite me to come. This time we were going to the state of Wisconsin where they have cheese as
yummy as candy, water parks like no others, and it is home to the Green Bay Packers.
We got to the hotel that we were staying at for the week while we were overloaded with excitement.
This hotel even had a water park attached to the building. When Morgan and I saw the water park our
jaws dropped. It looked like a humongous play ground full water that flowed down the slides carrying
children and families down the swishing streams that threw them into the freezing cold water at the
bottom of the slide.
We were very excited to go play at the water park, so excited that we grabbed the hotel key out of her
mother s hands and dashed to the hotel room like we were competing

Symbolism In Lot Of The Lottery By Shirley Jackson
Lot of the Lottery
Brittney Hale
ENGL 1302
Ms. Mary Elle Young
10 03 17
Shirley Jackson s The Lottery , is a story that is filled with symbolism. The author uses symbolism to
help her represent the human race as cruel no matter how righteous he or she may see themselves, or
how perfect their way of life may seem to be. The story is very effective in making the reader question
the unnecessary nature humans express, especially when it comes to tradition or violent behavior.
Jackson effectively expresses her beliefs concerning mankind s true nature that is commonly masked
behind tradition. The author portrays how inhumane and cruel people can be when it comes to their
values and everyday life. Jackson presents the theme of this short story with a major use of
symbolism. Symbolism is shown throughout the setting of The Lottery, objects, contestant s names
and numbers.
The author makes it well known to the reader that the black box is the central theme of the passage.
The box symbolizes, at first, that something more ominous is to come. Jackson s choice of the color
black is a perfect example for the story, it symbolizes death and complete darkness. A town person s
fate lies in the hands of this inanimate object. The black box is an excellent representation of the
sacrifice the citizens are willing to give to keep up with traditions. The author not only used the color
of the box to symbolize what was happening in the town, but also the condition of the box. The no
longer completely black but splintered box portrays the decaying of the original religious ideals the
lottery (Jackson 230) was founded upon. Even though the citizens felt uneasy about the box, and
would even keep their distance from the stool with the black box on it (thoughtco). They do not
question the origin of the black box, but they accept it as a way of life.
The names of the character play a significant role in developing the story. Quite a few of the names
are more obvious than others, such as Delacroix, which translates as of the cross . Others, such as
Adams, make the reader think more in depth about them. One of the main characters, Mrs. Delacroix,
appears often in the story. She is a companion of Tessie, the

General Geographical View Of Puerto Rico
In this paper, I will give a general overview of Puerto Rico. To begin with, I will cover the early ages
of Puerto Rico, the 1530 s to the 1815 s. I am going to explain a general geographical view, the
existence of the Taino s which were the first settlers in Puerto Rico before Columbus arrived, the
struggles and consequences that the settlers came across due to living in a subsistence culture and
exploitation of disease. Eventually I will explain, how the subsistence society broke loose from living
a day by day basis. The islands were divided into three sectors. The lesser Antilles extended northward
from Trinidad to Virgin Islands, the Greater Antilles extends westward to the Yucatan Peninsula and
the islands, form a triangle in the Bahamian Archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean between Greater
Antilles and Florida (Irving Rouse page1) The archipelago is located between the Caribbean Sea and
the North Atlantic Ocean, east of the Dominican Republic and west of the Virgin Islands. Most of the
Islands are not very distant which facilitates travel. Keep in mind that, Puerto Rico was the lead to the
Spanish Empire, in the beginnings of exploration, trade, and colonization (Irving Rouse page 1) In
fact, Puerto Rico is the biggest island of the Caribbean. In 1492, Christopher Columbus, departs to
India and Asia, in this event, he ends up discovering the Caribbean Islands, South America, and North
America. He discovers villages in Hispaniola and Puerto Rico, each had their own

atmospheric and acoustic environment. To lower the most of the negative impact, relevant mitigation
has been designed. (1) Atmospheric environment Blasting, concrete mixing and transportation by
heavy vehicles can make the dust release into the air. In order to reduce its impact on the atmospheric
environment and ensure the health of the workers, several mitigation has been given, such as water
spraying to suppress dust, making deep holes for blasting, hardening the pavement, control the speed
of the transportation and putting the tarpaulin. In order to reduce the dust pollution caused by the
spoil, several mitigation has been given, such as water spraying to suppress dust, and not pouring the
spoil on a large scale. Increase the greening in order to trap dirt. (2) Sound environment The harmful
impact of noise and other aspects near the power plant can be mitigated by scheduling any particularly
noisy or disturbing operations to weekdays and daytime. Advanced information on the schedule and
duration of such operations can be provided to the nearby residents and holiday home owners. Noise

Analysis Of The Scarlett Letter By Nathaniel Hawthorne
Christopher Manning
Coach Taylor
English III Accelerated
11 January 2017
Arthur Dimmesdale is a Hypocrite? Little things always come back to bite which in the end can hurt
people or kill people. The Scarlett Letter is a story in which a woman cheats with another man. The
woman is punished publicly, while the man is punished privately or in secret. The story is centered on
the letter A that in the case of the book stands for adultery. On the other hand, In Nathaniel Hawthorne
s The Scarlett Letter Arthur Dimmesdale is perceived as a saint, but in reality Hawthorne uses this to
support the hidden motif of hypocrisy. First and foremost, Arthur Dimmesdale is not what most people
consider a typical man. In fact, the man is a minister, who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though, he is preaching these types of sermons. Dimmesdale never really confesses to the
community his sin. Which is why Ruetenik says, Dimmesdale becomes a hypocrite who preaches a
profound notion of responsibility , and this really makes him a hypocrite because you cannot preach
about being responsible if you cannot be responsible yourself. Strangely enough, the community
basically leaves Dimmesdale of the hook. According to Frederick C. Crews, Dimmesdale has
explained his seven years torment (315). The community did not punish Dimmesdale, but he was
punished physically and mentally by way of natural causes. Dimmesdale began to appear as if he was
sick and just was not himself. The reasoning behind these happenings are unknown, but God punishes
those who break the Ten Commandment. One author stated, Arthur Dimmesdale is Adam, who
assumes the sin of Eve not because he follows her in committing an individual sin (82). This statement
makes sense because God punished Dimmesdale and Adam making them kind of similar. For
example, Gavrila Andrei Bogdan stated, Dimmesdale says very near the beginning of the book What
can thy silence do for him, except to tempt him yea, compel him, as it were to add hypocrisy to sin?
(Dimmesdale 47) He knows what will happen to him if he endures his sin in private, but he is too

Diversity And Diversity In Education
Problem Statement and Importance
Diversity and inclusion within STEM has become a challenge for institutions of higher education and
industry employers. Issues with recruitment and retention of underrepresented minorities are
illustrated in workforce hiring and enrollment in higher education institutions. In particular, Colleges
of Agriculture and related industries have shown to lag behind other fields in metrics related to
diversity, equality, and inclusion. For example, in Purdue University s College of Agriculture of the
2,736 students currently enrolled only 193 students were underrepresented minorities. This is alarming

jurisprudence (Decuir Dixon, 2004). Recognizing the application of CRT in other disciplines, it began
to expand to education, women s studies and sociology to address racial inequities. For the purposes
of education in this study, CRT provides an application of critical theory that provides a social justice
paradigm to address educational outcomes (Ladson Billings Donnor, 2005). Paulo Freire argued that
dialogue between those who perpetuate the social inequalities (oppressors) and those who are the
result of those inequalities is needed. Freire also insist that both groups become victims of social
inequality because oppressors often lose their humanity when they oppress. A key concept within CRT
is understanding and identifying the dominant hegemony. Hegemony can be defined as the dominant
thoughts, values and actions of a group and can written and unwritten rules, which govern the actions
and norms of the whole group (Martin Kitchel 2015). The utilization of CRT or critical theory for
educational practices created critical pedagogy that involves everyone in academic programs to ensure
that social justice can help alleviate the inequalities of society (Yosso et al.,

Veterinary Drug Therapy
The goal of drug therapy in veterinary patients is to produce a specific pharmacological response
while minimizing adverse effects. A patient s response to any given therapy is controlled by variety of
factors including disease, age, gender, body weight, and other environmental factors. In every
population of animals or humans, there is a large amount of variability in the way individuals respond
to drug therapy. From a clinical standpoint, this is an important issue that can lead to therapeutic
failures or adverse drug reactions (ADRs). By understanding the genetic heritability of traits that
influence drug metabolism, clinicians can use this knowledge to individualize treatment protocols and
tailor drug and dose selection to individual needs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(FDA.gov) Cats are particularly sensitive to ADRs, as these animals have been shown to display
several deficiencies in their ability to detoxify, metabolize and transport drugs (Boothe, 1990). An
example of a toxicity seen in feline patients is demonstrated by the use of flouroquinolones, which is
transported by the ABCG2 transporter. ABCG2 is an important component of the blood retina barrier.
The genomic dysfunction of ABCG2 in cats allows accumulation of fluoroquinolones in retinal tissue.
When exposed to UV light, these compounds become toxic and can destroy retinal tissue (Mealey et

Light enters one end of the fiber from a light bulb, laser, or some other source, and travels essentially
unimpeded all the way to the length of the fiber where it is intercepted by a photosensitive detector
such as an electronic device or even the human eye. The distance of travel varies according to the use
to anywhere from just a few inches to over one hundred and fifty miles. Fiber optic cable can transmit
large amounts of information over one hundred and fifty miles almost instantaneously. While it takes
five hours to transmit the contents of an encyclopedia over copper wires, the entire work can be
transmitted in less than a minute over fiber optics (Yawn PG). Single Mode/Multi Mode Fibers
referred to as single mode are most often used for the longer distance transmissions. Multi mode fibers
are used in applications requiring less distance. They are less expensive than single mode fibers and
accept light from a larger variety of sources and from different angles. Single mode fibers are smaller
in diameter than are multi mode and are particular both about the type of light they will accept and the
angle at which it can be introduced. They typically accept light only when it is directly input to the
axis of the fiber. This ability requires special light sources such as lasers and

Relationship Rules And Family Rules
Relationship Rules Theory
Interpersonal relationships are an essential part of everyone s life, like many other aspects of life.
Relationships are also bound by rules in order for these to succeed. However these rules vary
depending on the type of relationship a person has. Relationship rules theory is oriented to make
several aspects of relationships more clear. These rules help identify behaviors that can be either
destructive or successful in a relationship. Additionally, Relationship Rules help to single out more
specific reasons as why relationships end and what can be a solution to repair them. There are four
different types of relationship rules and those are friendship rules, romantic rules, family rules and
workplace rules. Each of these relationship rules has different functions and these rules cannot be
broken in order for a relationship to stay healthy.
Friendship Rules Friendship is a word that envelops powerful meanings that everyone should not take
for granted. Those meanings can be trust on others, love, support, care for others, compassion, and/or
loyalty. People give those meanings different levels depending on the type of friends they have and
how worth it those friends are. It is true that friends can be considered part of our own family and they
have to be loved and respected as such. Good friends are people that can be trustworthy and
understand the meaning of the word friendship.

The Stereotypes Of Reality Television
What once started as every day, regular people appearing on television shows have now morphed into
celebrities and want to be celebrities competing for attention and doing almost anything to receive it
on primetime television. The genre of television, which was once jumpstarted by the appeal of
relatable people, who could be the viewers next door neighbors, being featured has since disappeared
and been replaced by a monstrosity that does not accurately portray reality and often stereotypes
people (Huff). One specific group that has been targeted by what reality television has morphed into is
women. The new version of reality television is specifically adequate at encouraging gender culture,
the set of behaviors or practices associated with masculinity and femininity (Huff). Reality television
enforces gender roles and negatively impacts feminism in today s society. Reality television sexualizes
women, portrays them as dependent on and less superior to men, and exemplifies them as dramatic,
catty, and often only as homemakers. The portrayal and stereotyping of women on reality television is
demoralizing and can be described as the contemporary backlash against feminism ( Reality TV ).
These false and demeaning stereotypes are prevailed in all types of reality television shows, making
their impact extensive, considering Americans spend one third of their spare time watching television
and of that time sixty seven percent is spent watching reality television ( Reality

A candle was always kept lighted in a church to symbolize the presence of God as well as to light

The unfortunate popularity of teen prostitution has led to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, physical and

that 80% of prostitutes have been raped. Also, studies show an even more dejecting fact, the average
prostitute gets raped eight to ten times a year(Farley www.prostitutionresearch.com). Moreover,
emotional abuse also results in PTSD. This type of abuse can, sometimes, traumatize and be even
more psychologically scarring than sexual and physical abuse. In the world of prostitution, the pimps
frequently emotionally abuse the prostitutes. The multiple threats on their lives and the constant

The Common Technique for Free Throw
Introduction The basketball game played by two teams consisting of five players. In the basketball
game, the basketball player tries to outscore their opponent by passing, handling or dribbling the
basketball into position for shooting the ball into their offensive basket. When either of the team
player violated or foul, the fouled player attempts a free throw of the ball changes (Mood, Masker
Rink, 1991). The free drop is important later in the game because of the free throws comprise a
significantly larger portion of total points made during the final 5 minutes than the first 35 minutes of
the game for both gaining and losing teams (Kozar, 1994). The fouled player required to shoot from
the free throw line. The free throw line is 15 feet from the basket and has ample time to attempt the
shot, so that is the easiest shots in basketball. A successful free throw needed a good concentration,
relaxation, but the most important is a good mechanic in the shot. Also, the player does more practice

Loisel s pride causes her to make her first mistake shortly before the ball. Committed to the belief that
there s nothing more humiliating than to look poor around other women who are rich, she decides that
to merely have a dress is not good enough. She tells her husband that she wants jewelry. So she asks
her old school friend (whom she otherwise avoids) if she can borrow a necklace, which as far as she
knows may be worth thirty six thousand francs. She uses this necklace at the ball, dancing with other
men than her husband, while he sleeps in the back room. Between the hours in a crowded ballroom
and the long walk to find a cab in the night, it was not at all improbable that the seemingly valuable
necklace would have been stolen. Whether the necklace is stolen or just misplaced, it is indeed lost.
Had she stopped to think, Mme. Loisel may have realized that there was some risk in borrowing a
necklace that she thought was so expensive. Also, the impression she makes at the ball would not
likely have much bearing on her life later on. Her refusal to wear natural roses shows us that one of
her worst fears is to appear poor. Thus to prevent injury to her pride she makes a gamble in which
winning will bring little, and losing, although the chance of such is overlooked, has drastic

Ruptured Saccular Intracranial Aneurysm associated with Arteriovenous Malformation
Introduction
An arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is an abnormal collection of blood vessels in which arterial
blood flows directly into the draining vein without the normal interposed capillaries. AVM are tangled
anastomosis of blood vessels of varying calibre in which arteriovenous shunting occurs in a central
nidus in which the area towards in which multiple feeding arteries converge and from which enlarged
vein drains.1 They have a higher rate of bleeding than normal vessels. AVMs can occur anywhere in
the body. Brain AVMs are of special concern because of the damage they cause when they bleed. The

Another hypothesis is that these associations can accidentally exist together.20 Among these
hypothesis, the hemodynamic stress secondary to the increased blood flow of AVM plays a significant
role to provoke this coexistence of lesion.1,21 This hypothesis is supported by a report showing that
the associated aneurysms tend to be concentrated in feeding arteries which supply AVM and the
associated aneurysms may shrink in proportion to the occlusion of the AVM. 3
The incidence of intracranial aneurysms is higher in patients with intracranial AVM than in the general

Analysis Of Juror # 8 In 12 Angry Men
I was tired of hoping for justice. When my moment came, I was ready These are the words of a young,
determined girl named Claudette Colvin, who was tired of the injustices in her society, and was ready
to make a change. Claudette shared this eager desire to speak out and face injustice along with Juror
#8 from 12 Angry Men. Claudette was more mature and open minded than the rest of her peers who
were consumed by superficial fixations, instead of giving their attention to the more influential and
significant issues such as racism, discrimination, and stereotypes. This connects to how Juror #8 is the
only one in the court case who truly rationates the case and is not only empathetic to the defendant,
but he also is determined to persuade the other jurors to share his open minded point of view on the
case considering the life or death situation at steak. When one is raised in an in just society, or placed
in an in just situation or environment, it is likely inevitable that that the person will be inclined to lose
trust in humanity, which then leads to them becoming resilient, and ultimately helps them build up the
courage to face the injustices and speak out. When one is raised in an in just society, or placed in an in
just situation or environment, it is likely inevitable that that the person will be inclined to lose trust in
humanity. Claudette Colvin clearly portrays this indignity with her surroundings and her society along
with Juror #8. Claudette is a young, African American girl, who has been born, without choice, into a
discriminatory, hatred, and racist society being left with no choice other than do nothing about it, or to
face the injustices and speak out. To reach Claudette s level of disbelief in humanity, you have to be
truly exposed to the injustices. One day, Claudette was riding the city bus home from school, when the
driver ordered her to move out of her seat, but she was not fazed by this and refused his orders. When
she refused to move two white, supreme male police officers, handcuffed her and dragged her off the
bus. The policeman took her to an adult jail, but should have took her to a juvenile jail considering
Claudette was only fifteen years old. During the drive there, the two

The Legal Drinking Age At The United States Of America
Vinny Messina Professor Newell ENC 1102 03 May 2015 Time to Look at the Facts There have been
many recent debates on the subject of the legal age to drink alcoholic beverages in the United States of
America. Some otherwise intelligent people want to lower the legal drinking age to eighteen rather
than keep it at twenty one, the current federally mandated drinking age. In Time Magazine Mary Cary,
author of Time to Lower the Drinking Age, puts forth the position that lowering the drinking age
would actually be beneficial to society. Though lowering the drinking age to eighteen may lead to
solutions to underage drinking, many other, more dangerous issues may arise from teenagers who
begin to drink earlier in life; this is the greater matter that and it should not be overlooked on this
issue. According to Mary Cary, lowering the drinking age would not increase drunk driving and the
deaths associated with it. She believes that the issue of drunk driving has already been addressed and
that the problem no longer exists. She states that, Thanks to MADD, drunken driving isn t the problem
it used to be, and she mentions that this is the case because, we now throw the book at drunken drivers
in this country (Cary). While both of these issues may be true, she does not connect these two facts to
lowering the drinking age. Lowering the drinking age may, in fact, increase the risk of drunk driving
since alcohol will be more readily available to young people who have a reputation

Racism And Stereotypes In Hollywood
The world of cinema was created with the purpose of displaying stories of White people, for White
people and by White people. When it comes to African Americans the world of cinema has
predetermined roles for them. These roles are the stereotypical uneducated slave, domestic worker,
mammy, hyper sexualized harlot and tap dancing uncle tom. These stereotypes given to highly
talented and educated African American actors and actresses have evolved over the years but no
matter the time African Americans in starring roles have to portray a stereotype of some kind in order
to be successful in Hollywood. Over the course of the semester nine films were viewed spanning from
the early 1930 s to the middle of the 1970 s. These films include Emperor Jones (1933), Princess Tam
Tam (1935), Cabin in the Sky (1943), Stormy Weather (1943), Carmen Jones (1954), Black Orpheus
(1959), A Raisin in the Sun (1961), Nothing but A Man (1964) and Claudine (1974). In each of these
films we see how these stereotypes are portrayed, exploited and evolved throughout the years to
disguise Hollywood s racism. Hollywood s history of racism and stereotypes is explained well through
the work of literature Toms, Coons, Mulattoes, Mammies, and Bucks by Donald Bogle. The film
industry in Hollywood has many notable and praised films in its early years which are blatantly racist
and depict African Americans in a very stereotypical light. These films include D.W. Griffith s The
Birth of a Nation (1915), which

Bookstore Cafe Ethnographic Observation Essay
TITLE: OBSERVATION AT A POPULAR BOOKSTORE CAFÉ Over the past few years, commercial
spaces have become areas for multifunction activities. Along with the availability of gourmet coffee,
food, ample seating, and free WIFI bookstore cafes have welcomed a clientele that blends leisure,
social and work related activities. In this context, a local popular Barnes and Noble bookstore cafe
served as the perfect environment to perform a field observation for this assignment and to explore
customer behaviors and reasons for patronizing this particular establishment. Nestled in a busy

Patrons like myself stood in line scanning the café for empty tables and available seats. The
arrangement of the tables in this area allowed for more seating flexibility and appeared to lower social
boundaries between customers while encouraging interaction between members of cliques and
individual patrons. Armed with my laptop and cappuccino, my observations occurred from an empty
table in the center of the café. I felt at ease in this setting, as there were many more customers like
myself, sitting alone reading, typing away on their laptops, writing in yellow pads or studying. Being
in plain sight in a public environment, I assumed the role of a participant observer despite feeling a
little unsure about the landscape of this assignment and insecure about my field note taking
capabilities. As I settled in, I spotted a few neighboring customers who were about to get comfortable
in their seats. A young man sitting nearby with his laptop cover still closed, stated, I come here quite
often. WIFI is free, the service is great, I plug my earphones and in an hour I get a lot more work done
here than at home with the kids . Another regular customer stated, This is where people come in
between shopping, or like myself to get some work done after running some errands . When I asked a
few customers about policies regarding reading printed material without purchasing them, and if there
were any time limits for occupying the tables, I learned about a

The Importance of Government Infrastructural Investment...
How Important is Government Infrastructural Investment for Nuclear Power Generation?
Introduction
In an era when many industry analysts project peak oil will be reached by mid century or sooner,
identifying opportunities to promote alternative energy sources assumes new importance and
relevance. This paper provides a review of the relevant literature to determine the importance of
government infrastructural investment for nuclear power generation. The research will show that these
investments are widely regarded as essential because of the high costs of nuclear development and
power generation. A discussion concerning the form government involvement assumes in the form of
policy statements regarded nuclear power is followed by an assessment concerning whether detailed
regulation should be used for the approval of nuclear plant designs, operating practices, nuclear fuel
supply arrangements, sponsoring nuclear research development, and ownership control of enrichment
reprocessing facilities. Finally, an evaluation of what economic influences concerning nuclear
development views versus fossil fuel power generation is followed by a summary of the research and
important findings in the conclusion.
Review and Analysis Although governmental infrastructural investment in nuclear power generation
facilities has been traditionally considered vital, there are other types of governmental investments in
the industry, including policy statements. Governmental policymakers in the

Medication errors are not only due to miscommunication, but also due to prescribing an incorrect
dosage, a potential adverse drug interaction, or a potentially fatal allergy to a medication. According to
the AHRQ, An adverse drug event (ADE) is defined as harm experienced by a patient as a result of
exposure to a medication, and ADEs account for nearly 700,000 emergency department visits and
100,000 hospitalizations each year (Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, 2015). An EHR acts
essentially as a second pair of eyes, ensuring that the prescription medication for the patient is correct.
With 76% of Americans over age 60 taking two or more prescription drugs and 37% taking five or
more, health IT can improve patient safety by evaluating potential drug drug interactions and
compensating for human errors in dosing (Consumer Partnership for E health, 2013). Drug
interactions may decrease the effectiveness of a medication, increase the serious, adverse side effects
of a medication, and more importantly increase the level of toxicity a certain drug. For example,
Bromocriptine is a drug used to treat menstrual problems, growth hormone production, Parkinson s
disease, and Type 2 Diabetes. Pseudoephedrine (commonly known as Sudafed) is used to treat
congestion or a sinus infection; however, when the two drug are used in conjunction, the interaction
can lead to severe peripheral vasoconstriction, ventricular tachycardia, seizures, and possibly death

There is something alluring about traditions. No matter how far away from home one gets, they will
always cherish the manner in which things are done back at home. They retain even the slightest
things that will help them hold on to the past or the way of life that they have left behind. They will
cook or serve food in a certain way because it is their sentimental way of remaining attached what
they were familiar with. This is also the case with my choice of music. I came to study in United

I made sure to arrive a little bit late so that I could just walk in and settle down after the arrival of the
performing bands without having to sit through the music department s opening speech. I came in just
in time for the commencement of the first piece. I sat and stared at the front at this lady who was
doing a solo performance. I could already tell that the night was only going to pick up from this point.
With her eyes closed and her head swaying with every stroke her hand made, all the people wanted to
do was look at her and share the same calmness that she portrayed. It was as if the world had shut
down leaving her to enjoy the calm state. I envied how she could just forget the world even for a

The Dharma Bums Passage Analysis
Oh what a life this is, why do we have to be born in the first place, and only so we can have our poor
gentle flesh laid out to such impossible horrors as huge mountains and rock and empty space,
(Kerouac The Dharma Bums, page 42 43.) This passage was used during their hiking to Matterhorn.
Ray was so afraid and he could not continue to climb up the mountain. This passage expressed how
much fear he felt during that time.
I cannot fall off the mountain (Kerouac The Dharma Bums, page 44.) Overcoming his fear Ray
realized that he cannot fall off the mountain. After Ray s observation to Japhy s reaction on top of the
mountain and seeing Japhy s running down the mountain he figure out that he can also do it.
The first passage reminds me of my fear. I m always skeptical of trying if I would be able to do
something that I m really afraid of. In reference of the chapters that I have read, I was thinking if Ray
s really overcome his fear or he s just pretending to show Japhy s that he can also do things like he
used to do; pretending that he felt bad and he should try to climb up the mountain. I felt that he is not
being honest that time. The way the passage was constructed, you could feel his fear that ... Show

I do not think that cloning should not be allowed in the United States let alone in the rest of the world.
It can be done on people and animals after they are dead. People think that cloning will ease the pain
of the dead when the clone is not the same person. The person or animal is gone and the clone is not
going to ease the pain. You just have to deal with the pain and you will slowly get through it cloning
will never get rid of it. Cloning has never been the answer if you have lost somebody or

He was raised during a time where French leaders were very prejudiced against Catholic
establishments, which included schools (Picker 152). This did not deter him evidently, as he
discovered he wanted to become a priest at the young age of 12 (Zuccotti 54). Pére Paulin, a Capuchin
friar at the time, mentored young Père on Catholic duties (Zuccotti 20). When he got older, Père
moved to Bruest Esyden in the Netherlands to study theology at a Capuchin school (Zuccotti 22). He
did not stay at home because of the French ban forbidding members of religious orders to teach at
schools (Zuccotti 54). He was still living in the Netherlands in 1914 when World War 1 broke out.
Abandoning his studies, Père moved back to France to join the military where he served as a medic
and a stretcher bearer (Zuccotti 54). During this time, he would often send letters to his spiritual leader
and mentor, presumably for guidance and encouragement (Picker 152). He received numerous
citations for his time in service actions such as tending to soldiers and rescuing people on the field
(Zuccotti 27). Unfortunately, he had to be hospitalized for a few months due to a leg wound he
received while in service (Zuccotti 54). After the war, he returned back to Netherlands in 1919 to

Cooperative Federalism In Texas
Federalism has evolved throughout American history. At different points in time, the balance and
boundaries between the national and state government have changed substantially (resulting in the
dual federalism, cooperative federalism etc.). Dual federalism which can also be referred to as divided
sovereignty draws a clear distinction between federal and state governments, with the state
government exercising the powers given to them without the influence of the federal government. It
can further be supported by the Tenth Amendment which states, The powers not delegated to the
United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States,
respectively, or to the people. Cooperative Federalism is defined as the cooperative functioning of the
state, national and local governments. The American ensemble functions according to the New Dual
Cooperative Federalism.
Federalism makes most policies lean more locally. States could tailor policy to fit their specific needs.
For example, Texas has a very different social welfare system even under the supervision of the
central federal system. As the state has populations, wealth, resources, etc.,
Texas is a prime example of the state constitutions in general. Ever since the integration ... Show more

A leader must be positive, have a servant s heart, follow through, exhibit growth potential, by loyal, be

The Theme Of Death In Hamlet
10 Bucks Everyone Dies, Bet
(The Theme of Death in Hamlet Acts 4 and 5) There a significance, some deep and abiding meaning
to death one that transcends our puny ability to understand? this quote is from chabad.org, by Maurice
Lamm. Death is very hard to understand, is it a void which we never return? Death may be just the
disintegration of our bodies that we all know as being kind of gross. The play Hamlet has several
deaths in it, the play is known as the play of death. Hamlet being the little baby he is just goes around
trying to figure out how to get the balls to kill the old man. In the play Hamlet throughout acts 4 and 5
the theme of death is very present, and one of the more major themes. The play Hamlet in act 4 shows
the theme of death very well. The theme of death is a biggy in the world of themes throughout the play
Hamlet. The play basically has everyone die in the end. Shakespeare shows his genius very well by
slipping little clues about the death theme throughout the play. He sprinkles the death ingredients like
he is a chef making a masterful entree. Hamlet infers on page 210 line 5, Compounded it with dust,
whereto tis the dead. Here Hamlet is responding to Rosencrantz where Rosencrantz is asking Hamlet
where he put the dead body of Polonius. The way that the two characters just throw death around like
it is some kind of play toy is astonishing. Both Rosencrantz and Hamlet have lost their sensitivity to
the subject of death. Lawrence R Samuel Ph.D. states from Psychology today, The end of life is now
frequently a prolonged period carrying a heavy emotional, ethical, physical, and financial price,
something that has helped make death this country s greatest taboo . This quote shows that death is
now a huge taboo to talk about, but back then it really wasn t after Hamlet has killed polonius. Clearly,
The theme of death is present during this time in the play Hamlet. The theme of death in Hamlet acts 4
and 5 are really shown by dulling the mind more sensitive subjects. Hamlet the play was the ultimate

Hospice And End Of Life Care
Hospice and End of Life Care
What is Hospice? Hospice is compassionate care provided to patients facing terminal illness or illness
for which there is no cure. These patients are diagnosed with an illness from which they will never
recover and usually have a life prognosis of six months or less (Hospice Foundation of America,
2014). The goal of hospice care is improving quality of life and managing the symptoms of disease
and the dying process. The care hospice offers is focused on pain management and emotional and
spiritual support for both the patient and family (National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization,
2012). Hospice care can be provided in many different settings, often the patient s own home. Hospice
care can also be provided in hospitals, nursing homes, long term care facilities and free standing
hospice centers and is available to patients of all ages (NHPCO, 2012). A patient receiving care in a
hospice program has a team of healthcare individuals that can consist of the patients own physician,
nurses, home health aides, clergy, social workers, and speech and physical therapists (NHPCO, 2012).
Usually, a care plan is developed by the hospice team and care of the patient is provided by family
members with the support of the hospice staff (NHPCO, 2012). Nurses make regular visits to the
patient and family and are on call 24/7. Once enrolled in a hospice program hospice covers everything

Problem Statement
When changing the dimensions of a pool table I was assigned to find what corner the ball would land
in, and how many rebounds or times it would have to hit off a wall in order to go into a corner pocket.
Every time the ball is hit at a 45 degree angle including when it bounces off the wall. To find the
number of rebounds the equation you use is, (h+w) 2. The way to recognize which corner pocket the
ball will land in is that if the height of the table is a multiple of 2 then it will land in the top left corner
(since the ball starts in the bottom left corner), but any other height will direct the ball to either pocket
on the right side.

  • 2. Confinement For Juveniles Alternatives to secure detention and confinement for juveniles are approaches that help avoid juveniles from being detained in a secure detention facility or a confinement facility. Secure detention facilities hold juveniles who are entering into the juvenile justice system generally for two specific reasons. Those reasons are to ensure the juvenile will be in attendance for all court hearings and for the safeguard of the community from future crimes. Confinement facilities house juveniles that have been adjudicated and assigned to the custody of correctional facilities. Secure detention and confinement of juveniles tend to do more harm than good. Research has shown that secure detention and confinement facilities have a negative effect on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, placing a juvenile in secure facilities hinders the juvenile s developmental process, leads to depression, and increases the risk of suicide or other self harm. Placed in detention or a confinement facility, the juvenile is cut off from conventional opportunities for growth, and any positive ties he or she may have had in the community are severed (Alternatives to Detention and Confinement, 2005). There are several alternatives to secure detention and confinement for juveniles such as home detention and electronic monitoring, community based programs, and residential placements. Home detention may require the juvenile to remain home at all times, except to and from school or work. They are supervised daily along with random drug test and counseling. • 3. Descriptive Writing About Water Park The Water Park Morgan, Morgan where are you? I shouted loudly. That was me in fear not knowing where my best friend was, this is because I go on trips with my best friend every year to different states. Somehow she got lost this time, so I will tell you about the one of weirdest experiences I have ever had with her. Just a reminder for myself is to keep an eye on the people you came with. My best friend Morgan and I have been best friends since baby care. We have been through thick and thin for the past 12 years. Morgan s brother Gene has been doing baseball for a traveling team since he was 8. Since he plays on a travel team they normally go out of state to play baseball, so they usually will invite me to come. This time we were going to the state of Wisconsin where they have cheese as yummy as candy, water parks like no others, and it is home to the Green Bay Packers. We got to the hotel that we were staying at for the week while we were overloaded with excitement. This hotel even had a water park attached to the building. When Morgan and I saw the water park our jaws dropped. It looked like a humongous play ground full water that flowed down the slides carrying children and families down the swishing streams that threw them into the freezing cold water at the bottom of the slide. We were very excited to go play at the water park, so excited that we grabbed the hotel key out of her mother s hands and dashed to the hotel room like we were competing ... • 4. Symbolism In Lot Of The Lottery By Shirley Jackson Lot of the Lottery Brittney Hale ENGL 1302 Ms. Mary Elle Young 10 03 17 Shirley Jackson s The Lottery , is a story that is filled with symbolism. The author uses symbolism to help her represent the human race as cruel no matter how righteous he or she may see themselves, or how perfect their way of life may seem to be. The story is very effective in making the reader question the unnecessary nature humans express, especially when it comes to tradition or violent behavior. Jackson effectively expresses her beliefs concerning mankind s true nature that is commonly masked behind tradition. The author portrays how inhumane and cruel people can be when it comes to their values and everyday life. Jackson presents the theme of this short story with a major use of symbolism. Symbolism is shown throughout the setting of The Lottery, objects, contestant s names and numbers. The author makes it well known to the reader that the black box is the central theme of the passage. The box symbolizes, at first, that something more ominous is to come. Jackson s choice of the color black is a perfect example for the story, it symbolizes death and complete darkness. A town person s fate lies in the hands of this inanimate object. The black box is an excellent representation of the sacrifice the citizens are willing to give to keep up with traditions. The author not only used the color of the box to symbolize what was happening in the town, but also the condition of the box. The no longer completely black but splintered box portrays the decaying of the original religious ideals the lottery (Jackson 230) was founded upon. Even though the citizens felt uneasy about the box, and would even keep their distance from the stool with the black box on it (thoughtco). They do not question the origin of the black box, but they accept it as a way of life. The names of the character play a significant role in developing the story. Quite a few of the names are more obvious than others, such as Delacroix, which translates as of the cross . Others, such as Adams, make the reader think more in depth about them. One of the main characters, Mrs. Delacroix, appears often in the story. She is a companion of Tessie, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. General Geographical View Of Puerto Rico In this paper, I will give a general overview of Puerto Rico. To begin with, I will cover the early ages of Puerto Rico, the 1530 s to the 1815 s. I am going to explain a general geographical view, the existence of the Taino s which were the first settlers in Puerto Rico before Columbus arrived, the struggles and consequences that the settlers came across due to living in a subsistence culture and exploitation of disease. Eventually I will explain, how the subsistence society broke loose from living a day by day basis. The islands were divided into three sectors. The lesser Antilles extended northward from Trinidad to Virgin Islands, the Greater Antilles extends westward to the Yucatan Peninsula and the islands, form a triangle in the Bahamian Archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean between Greater Antilles and Florida (Irving Rouse page1) The archipelago is located between the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean, east of the Dominican Republic and west of the Virgin Islands. Keep in mind that, Puerto Rico was the lead to the Spanish Empire, in the beginnings of exploration, trade, and colonization (Irving Rouse page 1) In fact, Puerto Rico is the biggest island of the Caribbean. • 8. Analysis Of The Scarlett Letter By Nathaniel Hawthorne Christopher Manning Coach Taylor English III Accelerated 11 January 2017 Arthur Dimmesdale is a Hypocrite? Little things always come back to bite which in the end can hurt people or kill people. The Scarlett Letter is a story in which a woman cheats with another man. The woman is punished publicly, while the man is punished privately or in secret. The story is centered on the letter A that in the case of the book stands for adultery. On the other hand, In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlett Letter Arthur Dimmesdale is perceived as a saint, but in reality Hawthorne uses this to support the hidden motif of hypocrisy. First and foremost, Arthur Dimmesdale is not what most people consider a typical man. In fact, the man is a minister, who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though, he is preaching these types of sermons. Dimmesdale never really confesses to the community his sin. Which is why Ruetenik says, Dimmesdale becomes a hypocrite who preaches a profound notion of responsibility , and this really makes him a hypocrite because you cannot preach about being responsible if you cannot be responsible yourself. Strangely enough, the community basically leaves Dimmesdale of the hook. According to Frederick C. Crews, Dimmesdale has explained his seven years torment (315). The community did not punish Dimmesdale, but he was punished physically and mentally by way of natural causes. Dimmesdale began to appear as if he was sick and just was not himself. The reasoning behind these happenings are unknown, but God punishes those who break the Ten Commandment. One author stated, Arthur Dimmesdale is Adam, who assumes the sin of Eve not because he follows her in committing an individual sin (82). This statement makes sense because God punished Dimmesdale and Adam making them kind of similar. For example, Gavrila Andrei Bogdan stated, Dimmesdale says very near the beginning of the book What can thy silence do for him, except to tempt him yea, compel him, as it were to add hypocrisy to sin? (Dimmesdale 47) He knows what will happen to him if he endures his sin in private, but he is too weak ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Issues with recruitment and retention of underrepresented minorities are illustrated in workforce hiring and enrollment in higher education institutions. In particular, Colleges of Agriculture and related industries have shown to lag behind other fields in metrics related to diversity, equality, and inclusion. For example, in Purdue University s College of Agriculture of the 2,736 students currently enrolled only 193 students were underrepresented minorities. Recognizing the application of CRT in other disciplines, it began to expand to education, women s studies and sociology to address racial inequities. For the purposes of education in this study, CRT provides an application of critical theory that provides a social justice paradigm to address educational outcomes (Ladson Billings Donnor, 2005). Paulo Freire argued that dialogue between those who perpetuate the social inequalities (oppressors) and those who are the result of those inequalities is needed. Freire also insist that both groups become victims of social inequality because oppressors often lose their humanity when they oppress. A key concept within CRT is understanding and identifying the dominant hegemony. Hegemony can be defined as the dominant thoughts, values and actions of a group and can written and unwritten rules, which govern the actions and norms of the whole group (Martin Kitchel 2015). They are less expensive than single mode fibers and accept light from a larger variety of sources and from different angles. Additionally, Relationship Rules help to single out more specific reasons as why relationships end and what can be a solution to repair them. There are four different types of relationship rules and those are friendship rules, romantic rules, family rules and workplace rules. Some otherwise intelligent people want to lower the legal drinking age to eighteen rather than keep it at twenty one, the current federally mandated drinking age. In Time Magazine Mary Cary, author of Time to Lower the Drinking Age, puts forth the position that lowering the drinking age would actually be beneficial to society. I m not sure if I will be able to overcome this fear. Unlike, Ray our difference is, he figure out that he is not afraid. That he cannot fall off the mountain and I never feel the same way. I feel relieve when I saw my family walking down the hills because I know that I can now go down and will not endure the fear while waiting for them to come down; I feel bad but it s ... • 31. Should Cloning Be Allowed In The United States I do not think that cloning should not be allowed in the United States let alone in the rest of the world. It can be done on people and animals after they are dead. People think that cloning will ease the pain of the dead when the clone is not the same person. The person or animal is gone and the clone is not going to ease the pain. You just have to deal with the pain and you will slowly get through it cloning will never get rid of it. Cloning has never been the answer if you have lost somebody or something. There could be problems while the cloning process is happening and the clone could come out wrong. The clone could have something wrong that it could die and kill the person it was cloned after. The people of the world think that a kid ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. The Horrific Duration Of The Holocaust The horrendous duration of the Holocaust was a dark time in human history. Millions of Jewish people died along with African Americans, disabled people, and anyone who did not fit into the Nazi regime. During this time of persecution, there were people who did not take action to help their fellow neighbors and decided to be bystanders. But in the midst of terrified silence, a Capuchin priest resolved to break the silence. Père Marie Benoît was a member of the Catholic Church when Jews were being taken to concentration camps to face a dreadful demise. Unlike many of his fellow church members, he decided to take action and help as many people as he could. A concise review of Père Marie Benoît s life will help show the amazing effects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He was raised during a time where French leaders were very prejudiced against Catholic establishments, which included schools (Picker 152). This did not deter him evidently, as he discovered he wanted to become a priest at the young age of 12 (Zuccotti 54). Pére Paulin, a Capuchin friar at the time, mentored young Père on Catholic duties (Zuccotti 20). When he got older, Père moved to Bruest Esyden in the Netherlands to study theology at a Capuchin school (Zuccotti 22). He did not stay at home because of the French ban forbidding members of religious orders to teach at schools (Zuccotti 54). He was still living in the Netherlands in 1914 when World War 1 broke out. Abandoning his studies, Père moved back to France to join the military where he served as a medic and a stretcher bearer (Zuccotti 54). During this time, he would often send letters to his spiritual leader and mentor, presumably for guidance and encouragement (Picker 152). He received numerous citations for his time in service actions such as tending to soldiers and rescuing people on the field (Zuccotti 27). Unfortunately, he had to be hospitalized for a few months due to a leg wound he received while in service (Zuccotti 54). After the war, he returned back to Netherlands in 1919 to continue his studies. As his professors watched him pass his classes with flying colors, he was chosen to transfer to the International College of Saint Lawrence of Brindisi in Rome (Zuccotti 38). When he got there ... • 33. Cooperative Federalism In Texas Federalism has evolved throughout American history. At different points in time, the balance and boundaries between the national and state government have changed substantially (resulting in the dual federalism, cooperative federalism etc.). Dual federalism which can also be referred to as divided sovereignty draws a clear distinction between federal and state governments, with the state government exercising the powers given to them without the influence of the federal government. It can further be supported by the Tenth Amendment which states, The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States, respectively, or to the people. Cooperative Federalism is defined as the cooperative functioning of the state, national and local governments. The American ensemble functions according to the New Dual Cooperative Federalism. Federalism makes most policies lean more locally. States could tailor policy to fit their specific needs. For example, Texas has a very different social welfare system even under the supervision of the central federal system. As the state has populations, wealth, resources, etc., Texas is a prime example of the state constitutions in general. Ever since the integration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A leader must be positive, have a servant s heart, follow through, exhibit growth potential, by loyal, be resiliency, have integrity, see the big picture, be disciplined, and express gratitude (Maxwell, 1995). A leader realizes that he cannot win an argument (Carnegie, 1936). A leader must speak in terms of the follower s interest and sincerely make him an integral contributor to the organization (Carnegie, 1936). There must be a willingness to understand others and an appreciation for differences in an organization (Maxwell, 2003b). I see myself as being likeable and agreeable. I try to get along with others, just as I try to build relationships with others. I am strongest in matters of values, character, and ethics. I think as an introvert about matters that will affect other people. I take pride in other people and see myself as being on this earth to serve other people. We do not get there alone. I tend to be motivated by challenging opportunities. Sometimes I want to do too much, like when I enroll in multiple degree programs. In some organizational settings I am motivated by a fight. I seem attracted to fights to defend my personnel, my organization, or to uphold the law. I am motivated internally or intrinsically to make a difference. • 35. The Theme Of Death In Hamlet 10 Bucks Everyone Dies, Bet (The Theme of Death in Hamlet Acts 4 and 5) There a significance, some deep and abiding meaning to death one that transcends our puny ability to understand? this quote is from chabad.org, by Maurice Lamm. Death is very hard to understand, is it a void which we never return? Death may be just the disintegration of our bodies that we all know as being kind of gross. The play Hamlet has several deaths in it, the play is known as the play of death. Hamlet being the little baby he is just goes around trying to figure out how to get the balls to kill the old man. In the play Hamlet throughout acts 4 and 5 the theme of death is very present, and one of the more major themes. The play Hamlet in act 4 shows the theme of death very well. The theme of death is a biggy in the world of themes throughout the play Hamlet. The play basically has everyone die in the end. Shakespeare shows his genius very well by slipping little clues about the death theme throughout the play. He sprinkles the death ingredients like he is a chef making a masterful entree. Hamlet infers on page 210 line 5, Compounded it with dust, whereto tis the dead. Here Hamlet is responding to Rosencrantz where Rosencrantz is asking Hamlet where he put the dead body of Polonius. The way that the two characters just throw death around like it is some kind of play toy is astonishing. Both Rosencrantz and Hamlet have lost their sensitivity to the subject of death. Lawrence R Samuel Ph.D. states from Psychology today, The end of life is now frequently a prolonged period carrying a heavy emotional, ethical, physical, and financial price, something that has helped make death this country s greatest taboo . This quote shows that death is now a huge taboo to talk about, but back then it really wasn t after Hamlet has killed polonius. Clearly, The theme of death is present during this time in the play Hamlet. The theme of death in Hamlet acts 4 and 5 are really shown by dulling the mind more sensitive subjects. Hamlet the play was the ultimate R rated movie from the olden times.Hamlet suggests on page 214 line 30, A man may eat a fish with the worm that hath eat of a king, and eat the fish that hath fed of that worm. • 36. Hospice And End Of Life Care Hospice and End of Life Care What is Hospice? Hospice is compassionate care provided to patients facing terminal illness or illness for which there is no cure. These patients are diagnosed with an illness from which they will never recover and usually have a life prognosis of six months or less (Hospice Foundation of America, 2014). The goal of hospice care is improving quality of life and managing the symptoms of disease and the dying process. The care hospice offers is focused on pain management and emotional and spiritual support for both the patient and family (National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, 2012). Hospice care can be provided in many different settings, often the patient s own home. Hospice care can also be provided in hospitals, nursing homes, long term care facilities and free standing hospice centers and is available to patients of all ages (NHPCO, 2012). A patient receiving care in a hospice program has a team of healthcare individuals that can consist of the patients own physician, nurses, home health aides, clergy, social workers, and speech and physical therapists (NHPCO, 2012). • 37. (H + W. W)-2-6 Answer Problem Statement When changing the dimensions of a pool table I was assigned to find what corner the ball would land in, and how many rebounds or times it would have to hit off a wall in order to go into a corner pocket. Every time the ball is hit at a 45 degree angle including when it bounces off the wall. To find the number of rebounds the equation you use is, (h+w) 2. The way to recognize which corner pocket the ball will land in is that if the height of the table is a multiple of 2 then it will land in the top left corner (since the ball starts in the bottom left corner), but any other height will direct the ball to either pocket on the right side. Process The way I found this equation was by simply looking to find any ways there could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
