An eLearning deliverable, like any learning intervention, has value for bringing
someone up the learning curve. However, most jobs now have access to digital
information, which means more job aids and references can be provided
electronically. This provides an opportunity to mix learning and doing to reduce
learning time and improve performance. Though we can’t convert everything a job
aid or tool, we can, with conscious design choices, improve the utilization of
eLearning outputs outside of the learning process. This session will discuss the issues
and review examples of what this can look like in the workplace.
At the end of this session, participants will be able to
• Describe the "learn/do" curve
• Describe what to look for in the work or knowledge analysis to identify
opportunities for building electronic performance aids
• Describe considerations for determining how to design and configure solutions
that address both learning and performance needs
• Identify opportunities to leverage eLearning deliverables to support broader
performance needs

Pete Hybert has been working in the field of human performance improvement and
support since 1984 and a consultant since 1989. His clients include many well-known
firms, including Eli Lilly, Siemens, Chrysler Financial, General Motors, AT&T, Fireman’s Fund
Insurance, Hewitt Associates, Hospira Worldwide, Amoco, SPX Corporation, Huron
Consulting, and others.
He has analyzed performance and designed and developed performance solutions for
almost every type of business function and process. He has managed over two-
hundred projects ranging from e-learning to group-paced simulations to performance-
based qualification.
He is a Certified Performance Technologist (CPT).
Ian Hybert had been working off and on as a freelancer for over a year when he joined
PRH Consulting as a full-time employee in the spring of 2008.
He graduated cum laude from Augustana College with majors in philosophy and
political science in 2007. Upon graduation, Ian was invited into the Phi Beta Kappa
Society based upon academic achievement and leadership.
He has developed training for Siemens Building Technologies, Hospira Worldwide, Eli Lilly,
and Hewitt.

Hybert August 18, 2015 | NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY CHICAGO CAMPUS An eLearning deliverable, like any learning intervention, has value for bringing someone up the learning curve. However, most jobs now have access to digital information, which means more job aids and references can be provided electronically. This provides an opportunity to mix learning and doing to reduce learning time and improve performance. Though we can’t convert everything a job aid or tool, we can, with conscious design choices, improve the utilization of eLearning outputs outside of the learning process. This session will discuss the issues and review examples of what this can look like in the workplace. His clients include many well-known firms, including Eli Lilly, Siemens, Chrysler Financial, General Motors, AT&T, Fireman’s Fund Insurance, Hewitt Associates, Hospira Worldwide, Amoco, SPX Corporation, Huron Consulting, and others. He has analyzed performance and designed and developed performance solutions for almost every type of business function and process. He has managed over two- hundred projects ranging from e-learning to group-paced simulations to performance- based qualification. He is a Certified Performance Technologist (CPT). Ian Hybert had been working off and on as a freelancer for over a year when he joined PRH Consulting as a full-time employee in the spring of 2008. He graduated cum laude from Augustana College with majors in philosophy and political science in 2007.
