Midterm reflection
The student found social media creators' young ages to be the most interesting aspect of communications discovered so far. Learning new software was the most valuable skill, as technology demands proficiency. Managing group work for an early Prezi assignment was challenging initially, but efficiency improved once working styles were established. The student hopes upcoming units will address digital photography, animation, and broadcasting. Current performance is on track to achieve the goal grade set initially, which can be maintained by completing all work and fixing mistakes when possible.

Staff must buy into any educational reform for it to be effective. Reforms work best when staff are well informed about options and reach a consensus through discussion. To study Understanding by Design mandated by the District, the proposal is for all staff to read chapters 1-2 and for subteams to each read an additional chapter to discuss and present to the whole school the next day. The focus should be on communication, not salesmanship. Staff are also asked to recommend another program to increase student achievement as they learn about UbD.
Designing for complex business problems
This was discussed at a Product Design workshop conducted by HelloMeets at Pickyourtrail office in Chennai.

Kolby Yetter reflected on various school projects from the 2010-2011 school year. They questioned why certain projects were chosen and how new questions arose during the projects. Kolby found the budgeting project particularly insightful as it gave perspective on the challenges of working and achieving financial goals. Through projects, Kolby was able to see other perspectives and believes the skills learned will be important for life. Kolby also felt they gained knowledge from research done on educational apps and saw connections between previously unrelated subjects through a game board project. Looking ahead, Kolby predicts continued improvement and understands themselves better as a learner who enjoys understanding lessons.
