Open Bite Malocclusion
Open bite malocclusion is either inherited or due to habits, that may persist for a long period. Treating
an open bite malocclusion is challenging, as it requires a high patient compliance and good
orthodontist knowledge and experience, which could be decisive in choosing a suitable treatment plan.
After treating open bite patients, for example, using a palatal crib and a chin cup, only a significant
extrusion of the incisors, as well as an increase in the overbite and the exposure of the maxillary
incisors will be gained, and no significant changes in the level of eruption of the molars, with no real
or relative intrusion of these teeth, skeletal changes, or a significant growth inhibition of the lower
anterior face height, closure of the

The Pros And Cons Of Geography
The first thing that comes to mind when thinking of the word geography, is land. However, there is
much more to geography than this one singular word. Geography is the study of land on Earth, its
physical features, and its atmosphere. Geography is how humans affect the environment. It is what
carved and shaped history, and can alter the future in just a snap of the fingers. Geography is a way to
travel around the world, multiple times without even having to leave your seat. It is the ultimate
difference between many subjects, such as winning or losing, happiness and sadness, or even the
common difference between life and death. To many people, geography is a part of everyday life, even
though we don t seem to notice it. We use geography to get to school and work. We use it to find the
nearest McDonalds, and to even find out about the weather forecast of the day. Yet, for others,
geography is what they live and breathe. Tim Marshall falls into that category as the author of
Prisoners of Geography, who dedicates much of his time to further analyze the intricate study of
geography. In his bestseller, Tim explains to us the allure of ten different regions in the world, while
also bringing light to the little harmful events in each region, which could potentially lead to world
calamity. In his book, Marshall draws a clear line between how geography positively and negatively
influences the world. For example, the geography of the land can provide countries with a surplus of

Repression In Psychology
Do all memories hold the same value in one s mind? Certainly the memory of last year s history test
does not carry the same significance as the memory of a traumatic event of the past. In either case, the
memory can be lost; however, the process in which this takes place has been a crucial question in the
debate between repression and ordinary forgetting. The controversy over manners involved in
forgetting traumatic events has generated powerful discussions between experts in the field of
psychology. The phenomenon of repression has been researched and expanded upon from Sigmund
Freud s views in 1915 by the recent works of Jennifer Freyd, Dennis Bull, and Linda Williams. Their
position on the matter is consistent with the notion that there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The first and most striking bit of evidence for dissociation out of William s study is that out of 129
women with documented cases of sexual abuse, 38 percent had no recollection of the abuse 17 years
later (Williams, 1994, p. 1167). The fact that the 129 cases were reported to a city hospital at the time
the abuse occurred gives validity to the research because it takes the false memory debate out of the
picture. As Williams (1994) stated, The finding that such a high proportion, 38% of the women, did
not tell the interviewer about the child sexual abuse that was documented in the hospital records from
the 1970s was quite dramatic...this is a significant proportion of the sample (p. 1170). Some may argue
that this number could be flawed due to the possibility that some women did not want to tell the
interviewer about the abuse; however, as stated by Williams (1994), although some of these women
may have simply decided not to tell the interviewers about the abuse, additional findings discussed
later suggest that the majority of these women actually did not remember the abuse (p. 1170). These
additional findings include the willingness of subjects to disclose many other personal matters to their
interviewer, including other experiences of childhood sexual or physical abuse; in fact, 68 percent of
the women who did not recall the documented abuse reported other sexual assaults (Williams, 1994, p.
1170). The second piece of evidence for repression introduces a new support in line with Fryed s
theory of betrayal trauma, which is that recollection is higher in cases where the sexual abuse was
committed by someone they

Realism And Impressionism
Realism and Impressionism are two noteworthy periods in history of art during which distinctive types
of art including painting, architecture, music, essentially enhanced, mirroring the ideologies and
artistic philosophies during that time.
Throughout the movement of Realism in the 19th century, it had become common for Parisians to
make outings to the suburbs along the Seine and, although related scenes had already appeared in
illustrations and prints on themes of Parisian leisure, they were unusual as the subject matter for large
painting. In general terms of suburban leisure, Courbet s was first of what became a highly popular
topic for painting, especially among the Impressionists, from Édouard Manet Déjeuner sur l herbe and
Claude Monet On the bank of the Seine to George Seurat s A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La
Grande Jatte .
This essay compares and contrasts these two art periods regarding the major works created by
outstanding artists. In such manner, the work Young ladies on the banks of the Seine , created by
Gustave Courbet has been compared with Édouard Manet s painting Luncheon on the grass .
Courbet s painting depicts two young Parisiennes resting during the summer heat in a flowery spot
under overhanging trees on the shady banks of the Seine. The piece exhibited for the first time in Paris
in 1857 provoked a scandal caused mainly by the Courbet s choice of subject. He changed the
traditionally way of portraying women within a natural setting with

Lisa Kudrow Research Paper
So, after reading all of this, what do you think about Lisa Kudrow? I, personally, would love to have
her on my friends list. She stands about 5 8 in height, has blond hair and green eyes. She is an absolute
beauty plus she is intelligent and has a great sense of humor. In case you didn t know, People
magazine viewed Kudrow as being one of the Most Beautiful People in the World in 1997.
Just to recap just a few of her credits, Kudrow received many professional honors including awards
for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor (Screen Actors Guild), Best Supporting Female, an
Independent Spirit Award nomination and Funniest Supporting Female Performer in a TV Series.

them with the idea. Can you believe it? Simultaneously, Kudrow is hosting the improvisational
network broadcast, Web Therapy with Jon Hamm, Gwyneth Paltrow and Allison Janney on Showtime.
Matt Leblanc appeared in Kudrow s Web Therapy a time or two.
Kudrow also attended Milk Studios 2015 Vulture Festival in New York this spring. Billy Eichner and
Julie Klausner of Difficult People were there to mingle with the star. No matter where she goes, it
would seem that someone is asking the proverbial question: Will there ever be a reunion for the cast

they all live in different states so, getting together can be impossible, to say the least. However, they

Leblanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer haven t had much fame or success when it comes to

Essay about I Wanted to Share My Father’s World
Although single parenthood is on the rise in homes today, children still often have a father role in their
life. It does not matter who the part is filled by: a father, uncle, older brother, grandfather, etc...; in
almost all cases, those relationships between the father (figure) and child have lasting impacts on the
youth the rest of their lives. In I Wanted to Share My Father s World, Jimmy Carter tells the audience
no matter the situation with a father, hold onto every moment.
As Carter opens the poem, he tells how at this point in his life, he still has this essential want for
things his own father presented him growing up. In the beginning, he expresses he has this ...pain [he]
mostly hide[s], / but [that] ties of blood, or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, in this first stanza, Carter is perhaps saying the need for a father in general is a necessity, a
basic human right, and all children deserve a word of praise every now and then.
However, in the following stanzas, Carter changes his tone and tense to show how he felt growing up
with his father. He states, I despised the discipline / he used to shape what I should be (7 8). This
shows Carter, even though he disliked the means of reprimand his father implemented, understands his
father s ways were to help him become the man he should be. Through this insight, Carter says, not
owning up that he might feel / his own when he punished me (9 10). This is possibly saying not only
did he bear the chastisement, but his father sensed the pain as well. Yet again, maybe Carter has a
deeper message and is saying fathers and their children share the same troubles and triumphs. In
addition, Carter remembers how he didn t show [his] need to him, / since his response to an appeal /
would not have meant as much (11 13). Furthermore, he states his response, (12) would not have... /
...been as real (14). Telling such a harsh reality, Carter contrasts his statement and relays to the reader
through those rare [hard] times, (15) ...the pure joy / survive[d] (16 17).
In his closing stanza, Carter shares with the reader his present story and how his father, did in fact,
change his life. He states he, ...came to see what he d become, or always

The Role of Responsibility to Protect in Syria
The end of the twentieth century brought with it a close to the era of mass human atrocities and a new
understanding of how conflict worked. With the end of World War II and the solidification of state
lines, no longer was conflict confined to border disputes. Increasingly so, conflicts occurred internally
within the state s own borders taking a greater toll on civilians and often escalating into violent wars.
From Cambodia to Rwanda and Argentina to Bosnia, the second half of the twentieth century was
riddled with genocide and the motto of never again continued to happen again. The twenty first
century ushered in a new ideology to prevent and stop mass atrocities. With the realization that the
doctrine of humanitarian intervention ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Syrian Muslim Brotherhood lead an insurgency for many years but were put down in their
stronghold city of Hama using heavy weaponry in 1982 leaving in its wake a massacre of thousands
dead and wounded. This deliberate show of force kept down any further opposition until the beginning
of the Arab Spring in 2011. Launching attacks on Lebanon and Israel throughout its history caused
Syria to become further isolated from the west until1990 when in a rare show, it aligned with the west
and other Arab states in order to stop Saddam Hussein in Iraq. After three decades of rule, Hafiz al
Asad died and was succeeded by his son, Bashar, who was also elected president through referendum.
It seemed as though democratic rule would finally take hold in Syria. After the September 11th, 2001
terrorist attacks, President Bashar al Asad apprehensively cooperated with the United States in order to
combat al Qaeda. This short lived collaboration terminated when President al Asad opposed the
United State s war in Iraq. Further tensions mounted between the two countries when Lebanese Prime
Minister Rafiq Hariri was assassinated in 2005 and the U.S. withdrew its ambassador to Syria opening
the door for Syrian alignment with Iran and other militant groups, especially Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Becker Seminars are lectures or events that are either sponsored by the Chancellors Honors Program
or sponsored by another university program and approved by the honors program ( Honors and
Scholars ).
When students attend a Becker Seminar, a staff member from the Chancellors Honors Program stamps
the students honors passports, and when they complete community service, an event coordinator signs
the passport to verify the student s attendance. Honors Passports are small 4x6 inch paper booklets
that are issued to every student in the Chancellors Honors Program from the year 2014 and on. This
requirement was a result of the Chancellors Honors Program s restructuring in 2014. The program
elevated its standards to make it more competitive and in line with the university s overall goal to be a
top 25 public university ( Honors and Scholars ). Since the new standards are only two years old, the
Honors Passport system and its negative effects are still growing. In 2014, there were roughly 300
students participating in the passport system. This year, 2015, roughly 600 students are using passports
(Webster). The number of students involved will continue to grow until the year 2017 when it will
include all four classes of honors students, or 1200 students.
The issue these growing number of students face is not from the requirement itself but from the way in
which it is enacted. Students are frustrated with the inconvenience of the

How Did St Thomas Aquinas Influence Religion
There are many philosophical influences in religion as well as many religious influences in many
types of philosophies. Many figures in history have shaped both of these fields and contributed to
them in many ways including belief systems regarding the nature of the world, human existence, and
ethics. Many religious figures focused more on religious endeavors more than philosophical ones.
Jesus of Nazareth and Gautama Buddha are two examples of spiritual figures who have religious
followings even until this day. It should be pointed out that many people view the Buddha s teachings
as more of a philosophy instead of a religion. One figure who was influenced by religion and at the
same time, contributed many theories and ideas towards the discipline of philosophy is Saint Thomas
Aquinas. Saint Thomas Aquinas is an example of how a very religious figure/leader could reason
philosophically, generate new ideas and concepts in philosophy, and influence a religion as whole in
more ways than one. He showed that philosophy and religion can coexist to serve the same purpose,
which is understanding ourselves and truth.
Thomas Aquinas was born around 1225 in Lombardy, Italy, to the Countess of Teano. When Aquinas
was five years of age, he was sent to the monastery Montecassino to study with Benedictine monks.
Aquinas spent his time there until he was thirteen years old. As a result of major political unrest,
Montecassino turned into a battle site and he had no

Curriculum Of The Other Woman
As Luce Irigaray identifies, in her book Speculum of the Other Woman, Antigone is caught in a
puzzling paradox of both intentionally committing her crime with full knowledge of her act, while at
the same time remaining completely ignorant and unconscious of the law. She says, what an amazing
vicious circle in a single syllogistic system. Whereby the unconscious while remaining unconscious, is
yet supposed to know the laws of a consciousness which is permitted to remain ignorant of it and will
become even more repressed as a result of failing to respect those laws (223). For Hegel, women do
not have the ability to conceptualize ethical duty due to their inescapable nature. How is it that
Antigone is guilty by virtue of her intentional crime, while remaining ignorant by virtue of her
unconsciousness of the law? Kelly Oliver, in her article Antigone s Ghost, suggests that one can
speculate if it is at this stage of the dialectic where women become conscious, however, she rightly
indicates that this is an impossible scenario because unlike men, women are unable to break free from
nature (Oliver, 79). The feminine is bound to the family and remains unconscious to her acts as
ethical.
Because women are restrained by nature to the divine law, the only type of knowledge women can
have of committing a crime and the guilt associated with a crime is intuitive knowledge. At this point
of the phenomenology (and arguably at no point in the phenomenology), women do not have a

Effective Supervision Requires Establishing Different...
Effective supervision requires establishing different levels of supervision in order to know which
offenders need closer supervision from those who require less supervision (Alarid Del Carmen, 2012).
Generally, the supervision of offenders is categorized into three or four levels: maximum, medium and
minimum or maximum, high, standard, and administrative (Alarid Del Carmen, 2012). The
administrative level is for probationers or parolees who have committed minor offenses, satisfied
financial responsibilities, and been in compliance for two years (Alarid Del Carmen, 2012).
Probationers and parolees on the administrative level do not require a personal visit or personal
contact with the officer (Alarid Del Carmen, 2012). Individuals on the administrative level are
required to call in and leave a voicemail or mail in a residence verification and employment document
(Alarid Del Carmen, 2012).
A caseload is the number of individuals that one probation or parole officer is responsible for and can
supervise effectively (Alarid Del Carmen, 2012). The number of people that one officer can supervise
varies from state to state (Alarid Del Carmen, 2012). The more intensive the supervision is the lower
the officer s caseload (Alarid Del Carmen, 2012). In Georgia, probation and parole caseloads are
classified under two risk levels of supervision standard and high (Department of Community
Supervision, n.d.). Individuals who have a sex crime conviction will be

Finding Nemo Adaptations
If you have ever seen Finding Nemo you might remember when Marlin and Dory venture into the
deep sea in their search for an address on a pair of goggles. As they dive into the deep they are
entranced by a bright light in the darkness. Unfortunately, though, this light was attached to a hungry
angler fish. Like most deep sea creatures the angler fish looks scary and strange, especially when
compared to the animals that we are used to. Deep sea creatures may seem odd, but their appearances
are there for a reason. The way these creatures look, along with other adaptations help them to live in
their extreme underwater environments.
An example of an unusual adaptation is found in zombie worms. These strange animals live off of the

First off, are the squid s ginormous eyes which are so big that they are the largest eyes of any animal
on the earth, as big as 30 centimeters across (1). That is about 3 times the diameter of an average sized
dinner plate. These huge eyes give the squid the ability to absorb more light so that they can see in the
deep, dark ocean (1). It is exactly like how human s pupils expand in the dark. On the same topic of
sight, the coloring of giant squids change from the ocean s surface to the deep sea (1). At the surface,
squid appear pink or reddish orange, but in the deep water they look silvery or gold (1). This change in
coloring no doubt is an adaptation to deep sea life, probably for concealment purposes. One of the
squid s more unique body parts is their funnel; this is located underneath the squid s body and propels
the squid by pumping water, obviously a remarkable adaptation for underwater life (1). The giant
squid also has several body parts that help the squid feed. These are as following: feeding tentacles
that capture the food, arms that guide the food from the tentacle to the beak, and the beak that slices
the food into smaller pieces that the squid can consume (1). Giant squids are full of remarkable

Evaluation Of A Team Training Program
If I were the coach of a softball team and had to formulate a pre season, in season, and post season
work out program I would start by making a list for each to stay on track. For pre season, things I
would bullet point would be; running, weight training, skill specific sessions and learning strategies.
Next would be for in season practices and this is going to be my maintenance phase. Last is the post
season part that is focusing on getting ready for the next year so I would bullet point these topics;
weight training, running, skill specific practices, and leave room for participation in other sports as
well. A pre season training program should start 8 12 weeks prior to the first competition date (Powers
2012). This part of the season is to increase energy systems used in this particular sport to their
maximum potential. With my softball team in a pre season session, I would start with weight training
and running to increase each individual player s strength and endurance. Strength and endurance
training should be done on alternating days to optimize strength gains but can be done together
depending on what the coach is trying to accomplish. According to Powers, if these two types of
training are done together, there may be a lower gain in strength than with only strength training itself.
Things that I would like to do for endurance with softball players would be home to outfield sprints
with walk back recoveries about 8 to 10 times with 3 sets of high knee drills for 20

The For Your Child s Winter Essay
You can t miss the nip in the air, and as the year draws to an end, the mercury is going to dip even
further. This also means it s time to pull out all those colourful woollies that have been languishing in
the cupboard, and maybe buy some new ones to stay in sync with the season s trends. Gone are the
days when the over sized woolens came in monotonous and boring winter shades. Now, you can
splurge on colours and watch your child radiate the brightness. Red is big for girls and boys, and the
metallics that lit up the runways in the fall are also gracing kids winter lines.
When choosing woolens for your child, practicality is of utmost importance. But don t overlook the
fashion angle. Kids, these days, are extremely conscious about what they wear. Here are a few winter
must haves for your child.
1. Just jackets
Your child s winter wardrobe would be incomplete without a warm and colourful jacket. Depending
on where you are stationed, you can opt for a quilt lined jacket, a football jacket, a classic denim one
or the contemporary ones that look more like coats. Cotton, Light and medium poly fill jackets are in
fashion these days, with sweat jackets ruling the fashion scene. Jackets, not only provide ample
warmth, but when zipped right up, take care of the entire upper torso without you having to worry
much. Little girls can add a few frills and flowers to their jackets without thinking twice. And if it s
not too cold, they can even go for chic shrugs.

Plato s Allegory Of The Cave
By Achieving this awareness, they come to perceive reality differently; by broadening the horizon of
their perception, they discover more easily in their background awareness the dialectical relations
between the two dimensions of reality, (Freire, 115). Paulo Freire s, Pedagogy of the Oppressed, was
written over three thousand years after Plato and his own work, The Republic, but the two contain
very similar messages. Freire proposes to his readers that the oppressed are being dehumanized. With
this dehumanization follows a lack of education and the oppressed peoples understanding of
liberation. Although modern terminology such as banking education and problem posing replace

Like Freire, Plato is addressing the issues of oppression and transformation, and how it affects
humanity as well as fears associated with freedom once the oppressed is liberated. In Plato s allegory
the transformation does not just happen. An initial cause was required to allow for the man to ascend

The Year For Medical Innovation
Introduction [1.0] The year 2016 is the year for medical innovation. It s when we push out cures for
diseases previously incurable, continue the fight with superbugs, and attempt to preserve public health
by means of vaccines and public sanitation. Whether it be an innovation that humans consume
directly, such as a medical drug, or a background implementation, such as public sanitation in public
spaces. The ultimate goal is to preserve the homo sapien species, and its health.
A new problem has arisen as the population grows, ironically, there has been a shortage in human
organs for those in need. This can be due to multiple reasons, including less people dying in a region

The ambitious plan is to use printers to print out organs and eventually perform a transplant to replace
the patient s nonfunctional one, with a lab printed functional organ.
The Printing In order to understand 3D printing, you need to understand how generic multi
dimensional printing works. 3D Printing uses computer aided printing technology to deposit layers of
the material in specific location to form a three dimensional object. Traditional three dimensional
printing is expensive, but scientists plan on using inkjet based printers in bioprinting. These printers
are able to deposit tiny ink drops onto a surface upon demand using thermal inkjet technology. A small
air bubble is heated until it collapses, and the force from the collapse serves as a pulse that forces tiny
droplets of ink out of the nozzle. This allows for more precise printing. The temperatures during the
printing process can reach as high as 300 C, but the entire process is so instantaneous, that it only lasts
for a couple of microseconds. With this technology, living cells can be printed at the same time that
nutrients, drugs, and other important chemicals, as well as protective gels. [2.0] The actual process of
how printing works lies in three important factors, the printer, the ink, and the product. [2.1/2.1.1]

On Liberty John Stuart Mill Summary
The novel On Liberty was written by the remarkable philosopher John Stuart Mill. Through the essay,
he discusses phenomenal assumptions that are not examined oftentimes due to the reason that society
perceives Freedom of Expression only as beneficial. Also, individuals often overlook the impact that
the authority has on the fundamental freedom of free speech. They often truly believe that we are
absolutely free to do everything they cherish. Mill deconstructs these ideas and enlightens us with new
perspectives. This does not ultimately mean that all of the arguments that Mill highlights could be
implemented within society. John Stuart Mill s argument concerning free speech has elements that are
both feasible and infeasible when applied in the real world.
The primary question of On Liberty that Mill question within this literacy phenomenal is What are the
nature and limits of the power which can be legitimately exercised by society over the individual?
(Mill, 1859,p1). Mill further deconstructs his own response that the individual should have the right to
speak whatever they cherish, but through this process, no person should be harmed (Mill,1859,pg8).
His argument is built upon on two notions: Individual Sphere and Social Sphere. In the Individual
Sphere freedom of thought is given high importance compared to compulsion (Mill, 1859, 10). Thus,
we as individuals should be allowed to speak or think whatever we desire. On the other hand, in the
Social Sphere, we have a

Analysis Of Gerald Davis s The Vanishing American...
In the text The Vanishing American Corporation by Gerald Davis the corporate economy is a term of
the past. According to Davis we are in the midst of the third industrial revolution (Davis 167). The
reason is a combination of factors such as technology, the industrial movement, and inequality and
political struggles to tame the market. More specifically novice and new technology began the
collapse of the corporation. Since corporations ceased to exist the economy is unpredictable and
unstable. Many of the once solid positions are replaced by offshoring work to other countries. Many
people are unemployed however the unemployed remain undocumented.
Given the unemployed remain undocumented the published unemployment figures convey the
unemployment rate has gone down. Yet at the same time the labor force has dropped since 1977. The
cause of undocumented unemployed citizens results from the number of social security not counted on
the unemployment data. According to Davis the past two decades substantially outnumbers the
unemployed.
Many Social Security Disability Income (SSDI) citizens remain permanently unemployed. Also, many
citizens live off part time jobs and rote tasks. Davis describes the end of the corporation as an
apocalypse in nature. Davis colorfully illustrate the current job market is like an unmapped island full
of dense rain forests, prone to earthquakes that rearrange the landscape, and with a volcano at the
center (Davis 183).
Many compare the instability of the economy of today to the 2008 financial meltdown. According to
author Joel Havemann in 2008 the nation documented the economy as the world s worst dangerous
crisis since The Great Depression since 2007. Afterward in 2008 a deep recession encompassed the
world (. However, the 2008 crisis is not the same as the same as today.
According to Censoo.com while losses could continue, the U.S. appears, at the moment, to be in a
better position to weather them. That could keep a market downturn from morphing into a full blown
financial crisis that then leads to an economic one (Censoo). The chief reason is because the United
States (U.S.) holds less debt than government debt.
American households now hold 15% of debt opposed to the 18.1%

Abigail Adams Letter To Her Son Summary
Every parent wants their child to succeed. In 1780, Abigail Adams wrote a letter to her son, John
Quincy Adams, future president of the United States, while he was was travelling abroad with his
father who was only a US diplomat during that time. She addresses certain expectations that he should
be aware of. Even so, he is reluctant to be on a diplomatic duty with his father. This called her to the
attention that she has to advise him. That advisement came in the form of motherly guidance. Adams,
as a woman who is exceedingly bright and different from those of her time, believes that only the hard
working will be successful. In Adams s letter to her son, she conveys the importance of his future
through the tone of a caring mother, historical references, and a list of great virtues to convey to him
the importance of working hard to achieve one s potential.
To begin with, Abigail Adams addresses the letter to my dear son to set the tone of not reprimand but
guidance to him. The first thing that Adams establishes is that she puts her son s wellness above all: I
hope you have had no occasion, either from enemies or the dangers of the sea, to repent your second
voyage to France (Adams). This language sets the tone to appeal to his emotions so that Adams can
get her point across. It reminds her son to keep in mind that everything else in the letter is written to
his advantage. Next, the reference that the author uses to compare a judicious traveller to a river

Violence In The Outsiders, By S. E. Hinton
The outsiders Essay Theme: violence In the novel The Outsiders, author S.E Hinton hints to the reader
that there are a lot of choices within the book from beginning to the end. From the East side with the
rich, cruel and mean Socs to the West side of town with the Greasers where Ponyboy and the gang
live. The gang must choose to save their friends despite the consequences, they must turn to each other
for help, and they must decide to return home in order to face what they have done and the damage
that has occurred. These choices though hard, help the Greasers learn about themselves and the kind of
people they want to be. Many of the characters in The Outsiders have to make hard decisions during
the chapters of the book; from Johnny fatally stabbing Bob, to Darry and Ponyboy deciding to chase
after Soda, or just deciding what drink to get at the movies all are important. It s not my idea of a good

The Basic Idea Of Science
THE BASIC IDEA
In the field of physical science it has been proved that absolutely everything can be scientifically
reduced to one ultimate invisible Essence, something which cannot be contacted by the physical
senses. It is therefore only reasonable to say that originally everything must have, and still does, come
from It. According to one s way of thinking, different names are given to It: Energy, Principle,
Universal Intelligence, Universal Mind, Consciousness, Spirit, God.

That too is an inescapable realization drawn from the premise of an infinite being. The Infinite cannot
be one with just one of us. It must be one with every one of us. Each and everyone is one with the
infinite One, God. If you doubt that Jesus came to this conclusion, then consider one question: Why
did he say that when we pray we should pray to Our Father, rather than his Father? We are all one with
the infinite One. I think that we must accept this premise because it is reasonable; but my insistence
that others think and reason as I do would be unreasonable. Anyone can ignore the infinite One; they
just can t be separate or apart from It. We can ignore our heritage, our inheritance and our inherent
nature. Nevertheless it is with us, even thou we deny it. You can ignore reality, but it doesn t go away.
One Reality The Apostle Paul wrote: In him we live, and move, and have our being [Acts 17:28] Jesus
said: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. [Lk.
17:21] God would have to be very small to be within all, and very large to include all. However, to
resolve these two extremes, God need only be infinite. Remember what Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote
in his essay, History:
There is no great and no small
To the Soul that maketh all:
And where it cometh, all things are;
And it cometh everywhere. When we envision a God that is omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent

Pay It Forward Movie Analysis
A great movie captures the audience by creating a realistic depiction of the life and development of
dynamic characters. One magical moment in Pay it Forward, occurs when Mr. Simonet and Arlene
kiss for the first time a distraught mother at rock bottom with alcohol and work, and her son s astute
social studies teacher, turned lovers. Scandalous! The movie Pay it Forward was directed by Mimi
Leder, and produced by Warner Brothers Studio in 2000. Pay it Forward has been rated two out of five
stars by Rotten Tomatoes, and three and a half out of five stars by IMDb. It tells the story of an eleven
year old boy, Trevor McKinney (Haley Joel Osment) doing a social studies project for his teacher, Mr.
Eugene Simonet (Kevin Spacey) the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One criterion of a good movie is its use of dynamic character development. This can be seen in the
scene where Arlene s ex husband, Ricky (Jon Bon Jovi) returns home. He becomes drunk and starts
verbally abusing Arlene and threatening Trevor. No longer a submissive wife, she quickly throws
Ricky out of the house. Arlene has learned to protect herself and her son, rather than please a man.
Another example is the development of Mr. Simonet. In the beginning of the movie, he was a harsh
teacher who showed little sympathy. Through his relationship with Arlene, Mr. Simonet grows to be
compassionate and sympathetic towards the McKinney s situation. This use of dynamic character
development implies a sense of motion and drives the plot. Furthermore, the musical selection for a
movie is just as important as the plot. Without music, there would be no suspense or drama. For
example, when Trevor is in his room hiding from his parents yelling, he turns on the radio to listen to
Last Resort by Papa Roach. The song is about wanting to end the internal suffering and agony through
self harm and/or suicide. The lyrics, I m contemplating suicide Cause I m losing my sight Losing my
mind Wish somebody would tell me I m fine are important to the scene because they convey Trevor s
emotional struggle. Trevor yearns for his mother to be happy and free from Ricky, but Trevor wants to
be happy as well. Using music, Robert Townson

I Don t Believe Youths Should Be Jail For Having...
I don t believe youths should be jail for having consensual sex .Example ,I know of an individual who
had a daughter her age Sixteen years old was dating a seventeen year old boy ,the parents did not
approved the relationship ,but these two seem in love ,as soon as the boy turned eighteen her mother
had him arrested and charged for having sex with her daughter ,that ruined the young man life,
because that stigma as a sex offender , would prevent him from having opportunities in his life ,such
as decent jobs. In 2007, Florida created a law known as Romeo and Juliet law, to address issues such
as high school youth being labeled as sexual offenders or sexual predictors, as a result of participating
in consensual sexual relationship. Reason being these stigma, can have long term consequences,
which can affect the offenders, ability to attend his or her child s school functions, and where the
offender can live.(Florida Senate ,2011). Several states have also participated in the Romeo and Juliet
Law this law intention is to protect young sexual offenders who are close in age to their victims and
engage in consensual sex ,from registering as sexual offenders. However Florida, have done this using
a motion or petition process for registration relief, some have provided age gap provisions. Some
states has legalize certain sexual condition between minors, and /or those close in age to avoid not

Johnstrude Observation And Summary
Introduction
The speech perception study conducted by Johnstrude and his colleagues in 2013 was an in depth
investigation of selective attention, focusing on the interrelation of hearing and familiarity. The
purpose of the experiment was to examine the variations of people s attending and shadowing ability
when letting them listen to two simultaneous voices, manipulating the volumes and the timbres.
Johnstrude set three conditions: familiar target voice and novel masker voice, novel target and familiar
masker, and novel baseline (both voices are novel). Johnstrude found that participants excelled at the
first condition, while the other two were inferior at the beginning but tend to increase and converge.
Also, participants performance decreased ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Participants correct responses will always be lower than the scores in the familiar target condition
from Johnstrude s original study since it is harder to ignore a familiar masker voice than a novel

voice but cannot make participants totally overcome it. Meanwhile, the correct responses throughout
the task will be higher than the familiar masker condition because it will take less effort to attend to a
familiar target voice than a novel target voice. Besides, older participants will score lower than
younger participants due to the weakening of perceptual abilities and more wrong voice errors (failure
to distinguish the two call signs). For old people in the experiment, familiarities of both the spouse s
and the friend s voices will intensify with the increase of age, so will the interference of the masker

Essay On Diabetes
There is a direct association between hyperglycemia and physiological and behavioral responses.
During hyperglycemia, the brain recognizes it and sends a message through nerve impulses to
pancreas and other organs to decrease its effect (Baynes, 2015). The autoimmune destruction of
pancreatic β cells, leads to a deficiency of insulin secretion which results in the metabolic
derangements associated with T1DM. Normally, hyperglycemia leads to reduced glucagon secretion;
however, in patients with T1DM, glucagon secretion is not suppressed by hyperglycemia (Holt, 2004).
The resultant inappropriately elevated glucagon levels exacerbate the metabolic defects due to insulin
deficiency. In type 2 diabetes these mechanisms break down, with the ... Show more content on

This type1 diabetes is a relatively homogeneous disease in which the insulin secretion of beta cells in
the pancreas starts to decline and eventually ceases totally.
3.4.2. Type 2 diabetes: Type 2 diabetes is characterized by insulin resistance and/or abnormal insulin
secretion (Alberti, 1998). About 90% of all diabetes cases account for type2 (Zimmet, 2001). The
inability of the pancreas to produce insulin or production of insufficient insulin, or the insulin itself is
inactive in the case of type2 diabetes (Naemiratch, 2007). In the case of type 2 diabetes, the blood
sugar is controlled either through diet, with oral hypoglycemic drugs or in extreme cases with
exogenous insulin (Inzicchi, 2002; Gannon, 2006). Individuals with type 2 diabetes mostly exhibit
intra abdominal (visceral) obesity. The presence of hypertension and dyslipidemia (high triglyceride
and low HDL cholesterol levels; postprandial hyperlipidemia) are also observed in these individuals.
Type2 diabetes is the most common form and is highly associated with a family history of diabetes,
older age, obesity and lack of exercise. This type of diabetes is more common in women, especially
women with a history of gestational diabetes, and in Blacks, Hispanics and Native Americans
(Baynes, 2015).

Ben Quash And Michael Ward
In the book Heresies and How to Avoid Them, authors Ben Quash and Michael Ward present eleven
Christian heresies, their origins, and ways to avoid them, and ending the book by arguing for
orthodoxy through an explanation of Biblical Trinitarianism, why it is important, and why Christians
should defend it. The majority of the heresies discussed deal with the nature of Christ and his
personhood, including Arianism and Docetism. The rest of the discussed heresies deal with issues of
the Christian life and the church, such as Marcionism and Pelagianism. The goal of this book is to
explain a number of basic heresies in order to show why it matters what Christians believe. The
authors of this book presented an argument for Christian orthodoxy by presenting eleven heresies,
refuting them, and then presenting a case for Biblical Trinitarianism. Within each refutation, the
authors gave an overview of the origin of the heresy, including Key Scriptures that were used as
evidence for the heresy or were important in refuting the heresy and backing orthodoxy. After giving a
brief history of each heresy, the authors detail the main defenders of orthodoxy against a given heresy.
Each chapter ends with reasons the heresy is a heresy and affirmations of orthodoxy. For example,
after talking about the origins of Donatism in North Africa because of the unholy consecration of
Caecilian, Augustine s defense of orthodoxy against Donatism is covered detailing how he argued

Interpretations of Tragedy in Hamlet, The Book of Job, and Oedipus Rex
For ages, man has pondered upon the roots of destiny. Is the outcome of a man s life determined by
human qualities and failings, the meddling of a divine power, or simple fate? Shakespeare s Hamlet
made the argument that tragedy is caused by human folly. The idea that divine intervention is at the
root of human suffering is put forth in the Book of Job. In Sophocles Oedipus Rex, fate is given as the
root of man s suffering. Three divergent perspectives on the origins of calamity exist within the
tragedies Hamlet, Job, and Oedipus Rex. Shakespeare s Hamlet enforced the idea that Human

While looking at the corpse, Hamlet said, You poor, reckless, meddling fool, goodbye! / I thought you
were the King (Hamlet III.iv.30 31). This act of carelessness led to Polonius s son, Laertes, to
challenge Hamlet to a duel. This duel led to Hamlet s death as well as the death of his mother. Hamlet
s own faults led to his doom, but the faults of others also contributed to Hamlets fate. When Claudius
killed Hamlet s father, the revenge tragedy was set into motion. Without this singular act of evil, there
would be no conflict. Hamlet would have lived a good, peaceful life. The character Polonius had faults
that also led to the downfall of Hamlet. When Hamlet heard Polonius behind the curtain he said, What
is this? A rat (Hamlet III.iv.24). In a sense Hamlet was correct. Polonius was a rat... an insignificant,
conniving creature. In the course of his meddling, Polonius was stabbed to death by the confused
Hamlet. Polonius death lead to the duel that took Hamlet s life and the life of his beloved mother.
Shakespeare s Hamlet puts forth the notion that human folly is responsible for human misery, but the
Book of Job suggests that God is at the center of a man s misfortune. Job was an upright man, without
sin or fault. He was God s favored, and because of this, was granted wealth and progeny beyond the
dreams of most mortal men. The story shows how our fate can be quickly turned by the whim of the
Almighty.

Groupthink In 12 Angry Men
12 Angry Men, an influential and awarding winning film, is a unique movie that tells the story of
twelve jurors who converse on whether the defendant is guilty or not. Despite its old age and different
setting, the movie is a film worth watching as it provides real life scenarios and application of conflict
management when confronted with a problem at hand and conflict from fellow members. In fact, the
movie adequately portrays the occurance of groupthink, types of conflicts seen in small groups, and
ways to resolve conflicts that ultimately influences how the conversation goes. 12 Angry Men does a
spectacular job in enrapturing audiences with the plot at hand and showing how issues can solved in
order to reach a common goal. It is apparent from the beginning of the movie that the defendant, an
eighteen year old boy charged for murder, is viewed as guilty. However, there is one juror among the
twelve that views this differently, Juror Eight. In fact, Juror Eight s objection helps break the issue of
groupthink, the illusion of an agreement in order to minimize conflict, maximize cohesiveness, and
reach a consensus without critically testing, analyzing, and evaluating ideas. (Beebe and Masterson).

Courage can be found in the most unexpected places. In the ladies room commercial by Secret

group of women enter. She then stays in the restroom, and finally finds the courage to go outside. This
commercial illustrates the fear that members of the transgender community face in a seemingly non
harmful place like the restroom. Through appeal to higher order needs, credibility and appeal to broad
cultural values, the commercial effectively persuades millions of American women about the fear that
many men and women feel around the world. One of the most important human need is acceptance.
Humans strive to appear normal as much as possible. Unfortunately, normality is often associated with
heterosexuality and binary genders which is a myth Secret dispels in this commercial. The commercial
utilizes an appeal to a higher order need of humans to be accepted as normal to send a social message.
The commercial does not persuade its audience of women, that in order to be normal they must use
secret deodorant, rather it persuades them to understand that despite their differences they are accepted
and are fit to use the deodorant. This persuasion technique is effective because minorities frequently
feel the urge to assimilate with the majority, but with Secrets message which says there is no wrong
way to be a women , the brand displays an awareness that the definition of normal is fluid.

Metaphors in Master Harold ... and the boys Master Harold ... and the boys, is a powerful play written
by Athol Fugard that allows us to analyze the complex relationship between a black man and a young
white boy within the context of racism in South Africa in the 1950 s. This play is characterized by
metaphors used by the author to illustrate the struggle of people dealing with racism. One of the most
important themes of this play is racism, focusing on the injustice in South Africa when the apartheid

Advantages Of Depreciation
Depreciation in accounting concept is the gradual conversion of the cost of a tangible capital asset or
fixed asset into an operational expense (called as depreciation expenses) over the asset s estimated
useful life. There have 3 objectives of the depreciation: 1) Spread a large expenditure (purchase price
of the asset) proportionately over a fixed period to match the revenue received from it. 2) Reduce the
taxable income by charging the amount of depreciation against the company s total income. In effect,
charging of depreciation means recovery of invested capital, by gradual sale of the asset over the years
during which output or service are received from it. 3) Reflect the reduction in the book value of asset

on top of each other, although mattes are a bit more complex.
Mattes can also be used to separate a background image from a foreground image. For instance, if and
actor is standing in a room and you want to change the background image, a matte can be used to
change the background. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Mattes can also be used to animate text . If you have one image as a layer above a different image
(acting as the bottom layer) you can add text as a matte and allow the bottom image layer to be seen
through the text. This gives the text a more interesting and original look. (Adobe Systems

The word alpha means transparency. The Alpha Channel is essentially the channel that carries
transparency information. (Okun Zwerman, 2010, p. 125)
The colours that are visible in the images on programs like Photoshop and Adobe After Effects are
usually split up into three different channels. There is a Red channel (R), a green channel (G) and blue
channel (B). These channels are often grouped and named RGB channels.
The RGB channels are what make up the colours of an image. In addition to these channels there is
another channel called the Alpha Channel which is a channel that deals with the opacity and

Bourgeoisie And Proletariat By Karl Marxist
Karl Marx s philosophy defines specific characteristics that came to be known as the Marxist
approach. In this critical approach, whoever holds the power and controls the factories or means of
production, consequently controlled the whole society. Marx s opinion states that the laborers running
the factories and thus holding the means of production should be the ones holding the power.
However, this idea rarely holds true in practical society. Frequently, Marx notes, that the powerful
people hire other people to carry out the labor. This decision of power is a reflection of culture. Two
main classes or divisions of people exist, the bourgeoisie and proletariat. The bourgeoisie are the
powerful or those who in charge or production ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Simply, the proletariat are conditioned to take pride in their specified areas, thus they are prevented
from wanting to challenge their oppressors. The bourgeoisie use a variety of means to impose their
ideals on the proletariat such as designing their art and literature to be enjoyable, thus the powerless
are immune and unaware to their manipulation. Since the bourgeoisie control the means of production
anything offensive or challenge will never come to mainstream. Phillip Sipiora best sums up the idea
of this approach when he says it aims to show the portrayal of social injustice, the ethical effects of of
the pot elements, the conflict between personal and community responsibilities, and the way the
proletariat simply exist without question in their suppressive, evil environment (122). When utilizing
the Marxist approach, the two classes are identifiably divided. While both sides are aware of the
division of power, the proletariat s conditioning leads to acceptance of their place with contentment
and without challenge. Orwell best describes this theory as all animals are equal, but some are more
equal than others (Frye 9). In the novels, the citizens live under this false idea of equality. The
bourgeoisie s definition of equality differs tremendously from the modern day definition of equality.

What s a Hero to you?
When you hear of the Mirabal sisters, which sister comes to mind first? When thinking of a hero,
Minerva comes to mind first. She was a hero to many. In In The Time of the Butterflies by Julia
Alvarez, Minerva s actions symbol courage, love, and sacrifice. Minerva was a strong individual that
knew how to stand for what she believed in. She was mature and responsible. Minerva stood up to
Trujillo, had a mindset to go to law school, and was favorited by her parents.
Minerva was not afraid of Trujillo like everyone else. She had her own opinion of him and wasn t
afraid to express that opinion in her own actions. Minerva thought to herself, Under the tablecloth, a
hand is exploring the inner folds of a woman s thigh. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Minerva was getting her law degree (90)! María writes in her diary about this special day, the day
Minerva finally got her law degree! Minerva was favorited by her parents, not only because of her
dream for a law degree, but because of the responsible, young lady she s become.
Minerva s parents, Papá especially, favorited her. She was responsible and made mature decisions.
Mamá said, All my daughter wants is to be a good, loyal citizen of the regime (75). Mamá takes up for
Minerva. She knows her daughter was true to herself and others around her. Minerva said, I spoke
right up, I don t think it s fair if you just make an exception for us (14). Minerva was responsible and
mature enough to speak up on everyone being treated fairly. Papá laughed, his eyes flashing proudly at
me. The others said I was his favorite (12). The other sisters believed Minerva was Papá s favorite.
She was responsible, mature, and outgoing. Why wouldn t she be favorited? Minerva stood her own
ground even if it was against Trujillo. She became a hero to anyone that s heard the story of the
Mirabal sisters.
Minerva was a strong individual that knew how to stand for what she believed in. Minerva didn t back

  • 2. Open Bite Malocclusion Open bite malocclusion is either inherited or due to habits, that may persist for a long period. Treating an open bite malocclusion is challenging, as it requires a high patient compliance and good orthodontist knowledge and experience, which could be decisive in choosing a suitable treatment plan. After treating open bite patients, for example, using a palatal crib and a chin cup, only a significant extrusion of the incisors, as well as an increase in the overbite and the exposure of the maxillary incisors will be gained, and no significant changes in the level of eruption of the molars, with no real or relative intrusion of these teeth, skeletal changes, or a significant growth inhibition of the lower anterior face height, closure of the ... • 3. The Pros And Cons Of Geography The first thing that comes to mind when thinking of the word geography, is land. However, there is much more to geography than this one singular word. Geography is the study of land on Earth, its physical features, and its atmosphere. Geography is how humans affect the environment. It is what carved and shaped history, and can alter the future in just a snap of the fingers. Geography is a way to travel around the world, multiple times without even having to leave your seat. It is the ultimate difference between many subjects, such as winning or losing, happiness and sadness, or even the common difference between life and death. To many people, geography is a part of everyday life, even though we don t seem to notice it. We use geography to get to school and work. We use it to find the nearest McDonalds, and to even find out about the weather forecast of the day. Yet, for others, geography is what they live and breathe. Tim Marshall falls into that category as the author of Prisoners of Geography, who dedicates much of his time to further analyze the intricate study of geography. In his bestseller, Tim explains to us the allure of ten different regions in the world, while also bringing light to the little harmful events in each region, which could potentially lead to world calamity. In his book, Marshall draws a clear line between how geography positively and negatively influences the world. For example, the geography of the land can provide countries with a surplus of ... • 4. Repression In Psychology Do all memories hold the same value in one s mind? Certainly the memory of last year s history test does not carry the same significance as the memory of a traumatic event of the past. In either case, the memory can be lost; however, the process in which this takes place has been a crucial question in the debate between repression and ordinary forgetting. The controversy over manners involved in forgetting traumatic events has generated powerful discussions between experts in the field of psychology. The phenomenon of repression has been researched and expanded upon from Sigmund Freud s views in 1915 by the recent works of Jennifer Freyd, Dennis Bull, and Linda Williams. Their position on the matter is consistent with the notion that there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first and most striking bit of evidence for dissociation out of William s study is that out of 129 women with documented cases of sexual abuse, 38 percent had no recollection of the abuse 17 years later (Williams, 1994, p. 1167). The fact that the 129 cases were reported to a city hospital at the time the abuse occurred gives validity to the research because it takes the false memory debate out of the picture. As Williams (1994) stated, The finding that such a high proportion, 38% of the women, did not tell the interviewer about the child sexual abuse that was documented in the hospital records from the 1970s was quite dramatic...this is a significant proportion of the sample (p. 1170). Some may argue that this number could be flawed due to the possibility that some women did not want to tell the interviewer about the abuse; however, as stated by Williams (1994), although some of these women may have simply decided not to tell the interviewers about the abuse, additional findings discussed later suggest that the majority of these women actually did not remember the abuse (p. 1170). These additional findings include the willingness of subjects to disclose many other personal matters to their interviewer, including other experiences of childhood sexual or physical abuse; in fact, 68 percent of the women who did not recall the documented abuse reported other sexual assaults (Williams, 1994, p. 1170). The second piece of evidence for repression introduces a new support in line with Fryed s theory of betrayal trauma, which is that recollection is higher in cases where the sexual abuse was committed by someone they ... • 5. Realism And Impressionism Realism and Impressionism are two noteworthy periods in history of art during which distinctive types of art including painting, architecture, music, essentially enhanced, mirroring the ideologies and artistic philosophies during that time. Throughout the movement of Realism in the 19th century, it had become common for Parisians to make outings to the suburbs along the Seine and, although related scenes had already appeared in illustrations and prints on themes of Parisian leisure, they were unusual as the subject matter for large painting. In general terms of suburban leisure, Courbet s was first of what became a highly popular topic for painting, especially among the Impressionists, from Édouard Manet Déjeuner sur l herbe and Claude Monet On the bank of the Seine to George Seurat s A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte . This essay compares and contrasts these two art periods regarding the major works created by outstanding artists. In such manner, the work Young ladies on the banks of the Seine , created by Gustave Courbet has been compared with Édouard Manet s painting Luncheon on the grass . Courbet s painting depicts two young Parisiennes resting during the summer heat in a flowery spot under overhanging trees on the shady banks of the Seine. The piece exhibited for the first time in Paris in 1857 provoked a scandal caused mainly by the Courbet s choice of subject. He changed the traditionally way of portraying women within a natural setting with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Essay about I Wanted to Share My Father’s World Although single parenthood is on the rise in homes today, children still often have a father role in their life. It does not matter who the part is filled by: a father, uncle, older brother, grandfather, etc...; in almost all cases, those relationships between the father (figure) and child have lasting impacts on the youth the rest of their lives. In I Wanted to Share My Father s World, Jimmy Carter tells the audience no matter the situation with a father, hold onto every moment. As Carter opens the poem, he tells how at this point in his life, he still has this essential want for things his own father presented him growing up. Moreover, in this first stanza, Carter is perhaps saying the need for a father in general is a necessity, a basic human right, and all children deserve a word of praise every now and then. However, in the following stanzas, Carter changes his tone and tense to show how he felt growing up with his father. He states, I despised the discipline / he used to shape what I should be (7 8). This shows Carter, even though he disliked the means of reprimand his father implemented, understands his father s ways were to help him become the man he should be. Through this insight, Carter says, not owning up that he might feel / his own when he punished me (9 10). This is possibly saying not only did he bear the chastisement, but his father sensed the pain as well. Yet again, maybe Carter has a deeper message and is saying fathers and their children share the same troubles and triumphs. With the end of World War II and the solidification of state lines, no longer was conflict confined to border disputes. • 10. How Did St Thomas Aquinas Influence Religion There are many philosophical influences in religion as well as many religious influences in many types of philosophies. Many figures in history have shaped both of these fields and contributed to them in many ways including belief systems regarding the nature of the world, human existence, and ethics. Many religious figures focused more on religious endeavors more than philosophical ones. Jesus of Nazareth and Gautama Buddha are two examples of spiritual figures who have religious followings even until this day. It should be pointed out that many people view the Buddha s teachings as more of a philosophy instead of a religion. One figure who was influenced by religion and at the same time, contributed many theories and ideas towards the discipline of philosophy is Saint Thomas Aquinas. Saint Thomas Aquinas is an example of how a very religious figure/leader could reason philosophically, generate new ideas and concepts in philosophy, and influence a religion as whole in more ways than one. He showed that philosophy and religion can coexist to serve the same purpose, which is understanding ourselves and truth. Thomas Aquinas was born around 1225 in Lombardy, Italy, to the Countess of Teano. When Aquinas was five years of age, he was sent to the monastery Montecassino to study with Benedictine monks. Aquinas spent his time there until he was thirteen years old. As a result of major political unrest, Montecassino turned into a battle site and he had no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Curriculum Of The Other Woman As Luce Irigaray identifies, in her book Speculum of the Other Woman, Antigone is caught in a puzzling paradox of both intentionally committing her crime with full knowledge of her act, while at the same time remaining completely ignorant and unconscious of the law. She says, what an amazing vicious circle in a single syllogistic system. Whereby the unconscious while remaining unconscious, is yet supposed to know the laws of a consciousness which is permitted to remain ignorant of it and will become even more repressed as a result of failing to respect those laws (223). For Hegel, women do not have the ability to conceptualize ethical duty due to their inescapable nature. How is it that Antigone is guilty by virtue of her intentional crime, while remaining ignorant by virtue of her unconsciousness of the law? Kelly Oliver, in her article Antigone s Ghost, suggests that one can speculate if it is at this stage of the dialectic where women become conscious, however, she rightly indicates that this is an impossible scenario because unlike men, women are unable to break free from nature (Oliver, 79). The feminine is bound to the family and remains unconscious to her acts as ethical. Because women are restrained by nature to the divine law, the only type of knowledge women can have of committing a crime and the guilt associated with a crime is intuitive knowledge. Effective supervision requires establishing different levels of supervision in order to know which offenders need closer supervision from those who require less supervision (Alarid Del Carmen, 2012). Generally, the supervision of offenders is categorized into three or four levels: maximum, medium and minimum or maximum, high, standard, and administrative (Alarid Del Carmen, 2012). The administrative level is for probationers or parolees who have committed minor offenses, satisfied financial responsibilities, and been in compliance for two years (Alarid Del Carmen, 2012). Probationers and parolees on the administrative level do not require a personal visit or personal contact with the officer (Alarid Del Carmen, 2012). Individuals on the administrative level are required to call in and leave a voicemail or mail in a residence verification and employment document (Alarid Del Carmen, 2012). A caseload is the number of individuals that one probation or parole officer is responsible for and can supervise effectively (Alarid Del Carmen, 2012). The number of people that one officer can supervise varies from state to state (Alarid Del Carmen, 2012). The more intensive the supervision is the lower the officer s caseload (Alarid Del Carmen, 2012). In Georgia, probation and parole caseloads are classified under two risk levels of supervision standard and high (Department of Community Supervision, n.d.). Next would be for in season practices and this is going to be my maintenance phase. Last is the post season part that is focusing on getting ready for the next year so I would bullet point these topics; weight training, running, skill specific practices, and leave room for participation in other sports as well. Strength and endurance training should be done on alternating days to optimize strength gains but can be done together depending on what the coach is trying to accomplish. According to Powers, if these two types of training are done together, there may be a lower gain in strength than with only strength training itself. This also means it s time to pull out all those colourful woollies that have been languishing in the cupboard, and maybe buy some new ones to stay in sync with the season s trends. Gone are the days when the over sized woolens came in monotonous and boring winter shades. Now, you can splurge on colours and watch your child radiate the brightness. Red is big for girls and boys, and the metallics that lit up the runways in the fall are also gracing kids winter lines. When choosing woolens for your child, practicality is of utmost importance. But don t overlook the fashion angle. Kids, these days, are extremely conscious about what they wear. Here are a few winter must haves for your child. 1. The ambitious plan is to use printers to print out organs and eventually perform a transplant to replace the patient s nonfunctional one, with a lab printed functional organ. The Printing In order to understand 3D printing, you need to understand how generic multi dimensional printing works. 3D Printing uses computer aided printing technology to deposit layers of the material in specific location to form a three dimensional object. Traditional three dimensional printing is expensive, but scientists plan on using inkjet based printers in bioprinting. These printers are able to deposit tiny ink drops onto a surface upon demand using thermal inkjet technology. A small air bubble is heated until it collapses, and the force from the collapse serves as a pulse that forces tiny droplets of ink out of the nozzle. This allows for more precise printing. The temperatures during the printing process can reach as high as 300 C, but the entire process is so instantaneous, that it only lasts for a couple of microseconds. With this technology, living cells can be printed at the same time that nutrients, drugs, and other important chemicals, as well as protective gels. • 21. On Liberty John Stuart Mill Summary The novel On Liberty was written by the remarkable philosopher John Stuart Mill. Through the essay, he discusses phenomenal assumptions that are not examined oftentimes due to the reason that society perceives Freedom of Expression only as beneficial. Also, individuals often overlook the impact that the authority has on the fundamental freedom of free speech. They often truly believe that we are absolutely free to do everything they cherish. Mill deconstructs these ideas and enlightens us with new perspectives. This does not ultimately mean that all of the arguments that Mill highlights could be implemented within society. John Stuart Mill s argument concerning free speech has elements that are both feasible and infeasible when applied in the real world. The primary question of On Liberty that Mill question within this literacy phenomenal is What are the nature and limits of the power which can be legitimately exercised by society over the individual? (Mill, 1859,p1). Mill further deconstructs his own response that the individual should have the right to speak whatever they cherish, but through this process, no person should be harmed (Mill,1859,pg8). His argument is built upon on two notions: Individual Sphere and Social Sphere. In the Individual Sphere freedom of thought is given high importance compared to compulsion (Mill, 1859, 10). Thus, we as individuals should be allowed to speak or think whatever we desire. On the other hand, in the Social Sphere, we have a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. Analysis Of Gerald Davis s The Vanishing American... In the text The Vanishing American Corporation by Gerald Davis the corporate economy is a term of the past. According to Davis we are in the midst of the third industrial revolution (Davis 167). The reason is a combination of factors such as technology, the industrial movement, and inequality and political struggles to tame the market. More specifically novice and new technology began the collapse of the corporation. Since corporations ceased to exist the economy is unpredictable and unstable. Many of the once solid positions are replaced by offshoring work to other countries. Many people are unemployed however the unemployed remain undocumented. Given the unemployed remain undocumented the published unemployment figures convey the unemployment rate has gone down. Yet at the same time the labor force has dropped since 1977. The cause of undocumented unemployed citizens results from the number of social security not counted on the unemployment data. According to Davis the past two decades substantially outnumbers the unemployed. Many Social Security Disability Income (SSDI) citizens remain permanently unemployed. Also, many citizens live off part time jobs and rote tasks. Davis describes the end of the corporation as an apocalypse in nature. Davis colorfully illustrate the current job market is like an unmapped island full of dense rain forests, prone to earthquakes that rearrange the landscape, and with a volcano at the center (Davis 183). Many compare the instability of the economy of today to the 2008 financial meltdown. According to author Joel Havemann in 2008 the nation documented the economy as the world s worst dangerous crisis since The Great Depression since 2007. Afterward in 2008 a deep recession encompassed the world (. However, the 2008 crisis is not the same as the same as today. That could keep a market downturn from morphing into a full blown financial crisis that then leads to an economic one (Censoo). The Basic Idea Of Science THE BASIC IDEA In the field of physical science it has been proved that absolutely everything can be scientifically reduced to one ultimate invisible Essence, something which cannot be contacted by the physical senses. It is therefore only reasonable to say that originally everything must have, and still does, come from It. According to one s way of thinking, different names are given to It: Energy, Principle, Universal Intelligence, Universal Mind, Consciousness, Spirit, God. The Basic Ideas of Science of Mind, pg. 11 Infinite = One The number that best represents the infinite is not a very big number. Infinity is one, not two, or three or more. That too is an inescapable realization drawn from the premise of an infinite being. The Infinite cannot be one with just one of us. It must be one with every one of us. Each and everyone is one with the infinite One, God. If you doubt that Jesus came to this conclusion, then consider one question: Why did he say that when we pray we should pray to Our Father, rather than his Father? We are all one with the infinite One. I think that we must accept this premise because it is reasonable; but my insistence that others think and reason as I do would be unreasonable. Anyone can ignore the infinite One; they just can t be separate or apart from It. We can ignore our heritage, our inheritance and our inherent nature. Nevertheless it is with us, even thou we deny it. You can ignore reality, but it doesn t go away. One Reality The Apostle Paul wrote: In him we live, and move, and have our being [Acts 17:28] Jesus said: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. [Lk. 17:21] God would have to be very small to be within all, and very large to include all. However, to resolve these two extremes, God need only be infinite. Remember what Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote in his essay, History: There is no great and no small To the Soul that maketh all: And where it cometh, all things are; And it cometh everywhere. When we envision a God that is omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent we are thinking of the infinite, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One magical moment in Pay it Forward, occurs when Mr. Simonet and Arlene kiss for the first time a distraught mother at rock bottom with alcohol and work, and her son s astute social studies teacher, turned lovers. Scandalous! The movie Pay it Forward was directed by Mimi Leder, and produced by Warner Brothers Studio in 2000. Pay it Forward has been rated two out of five stars by Rotten Tomatoes, and three and a half out of five stars by IMDb. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One criterion of a good movie is its use of dynamic character development. This can be seen in the scene where Arlene s ex husband, Ricky (Jon Bon Jovi) returns home. He becomes drunk and starts verbally abusing Arlene and threatening Trevor. No longer a submissive wife, she quickly throws Ricky out of the house. Arlene has learned to protect herself and her son, rather than please a man. Another example is the development of Mr. Simonet. In the beginning of the movie, he was a harsh teacher who showed little sympathy. Through his relationship with Arlene, Mr. Simonet grows to be compassionate and sympathetic towards the McKinney s situation. This use of dynamic character development implies a sense of motion and drives the plot. Furthermore, the musical selection for a movie is just as important as the plot. Without music, there would be no suspense or drama. For example, when Trevor is in his room hiding from his parents yelling, he turns on the radio to listen to Last Resort by Papa Roach. The song is about wanting to end the internal suffering and agony through self harm and/or suicide. The lyrics, I m contemplating suicide Cause I m losing my sight Losing my mind Wish somebody would tell me I m fine are important to the scene because they convey Trevor s emotional struggle. Trevor yearns for his mother to be happy and free from Ricky, but Trevor wants to be happy as well. Using music, Robert Townson ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Meanwhile, the correct responses throughout the task will be higher than the familiar masker condition because it will take less effort to attend to a familiar target voice than a novel target voice. • 30. Essay On Diabetes There is a direct association between hyperglycemia and physiological and behavioral responses. During hyperglycemia, the brain recognizes it and sends a message through nerve impulses to pancreas and other organs to decrease its effect (Baynes, 2015). The autoimmune destruction of pancreatic β cells, leads to a deficiency of insulin secretion which results in the metabolic derangements associated with T1DM. Normally, hyperglycemia leads to reduced glucagon secretion; however, in patients with T1DM, glucagon secretion is not suppressed by hyperglycemia (Holt, 2004). The resultant inappropriately elevated glucagon levels exacerbate the metabolic defects due to insulin deficiency. In type 2 diabetes these mechanisms break down, with the ... The inability of the pancreas to produce insulin or production of insufficient insulin, or the insulin itself is inactive in the case of type2 diabetes (Naemiratch, 2007). • 31. Ben Quash And Michael Ward In the book Heresies and How to Avoid Them, authors Ben Quash and Michael Ward present eleven Christian heresies, their origins, and ways to avoid them, and ending the book by arguing for orthodoxy through an explanation of Biblical Trinitarianism, why it is important, and why Christians should defend it. The majority of the heresies discussed deal with the nature of Christ and his personhood, including Arianism and Docetism. The rest of the discussed heresies deal with issues of the Christian life and the church, such as Marcionism and Pelagianism. The goal of this book is to explain a number of basic heresies in order to show why it matters what Christians believe. The authors of this book presented an argument for Christian orthodoxy by presenting eleven heresies, refuting them, and then presenting a case for Biblical Trinitarianism. Within each refutation, the authors gave an overview of the origin of the heresy, including Key Scriptures that were used as evidence for the heresy or were important in refuting the heresy and backing orthodoxy. After giving a brief history of each heresy, the authors detail the main defenders of orthodoxy against a given heresy. Each chapter ends with reasons the heresy is a heresy and affirmations of orthodoxy. For example, after talking about the origins of Donatism in North Africa because of the unholy consecration of Caecilian, Augustine s defense of orthodoxy against Donatism is covered detailing how he argued since a sacraments ... Hamlet s own faults led to his doom, but the faults of others also contributed to Hamlets fate. When Claudius killed Hamlet s father, the revenge tragedy was set into motion. Without this singular act of evil, there would be no conflict. Hamlet would have lived a good, peaceful life. The character Polonius had faults that also led to the downfall of Hamlet. Adobe After Effects uses mattes as an invisible layer which can control the opacity of the image above the matte layer. If there is an image visible and another image layered beneath that image, a matte can be used in certain ways to manipulate that image. (Tobias, 2012) Although a matte is an invisible layer it allows a determined amount of luminance or colour to push through from the bottom layer to the top layer. In a way a matte can be thought of as fading to images on top of each other, although mattes are a bit more complex. Mattes can also be used to separate a background image from a foreground image. In this critical approach, whoever holds the power and controls the factories or means of production, consequently controlled the whole society. Marx s opinion states that the laborers running the factories and thus holding the means of production should be the ones holding the power. However, this idea rarely holds true in practical society. Since the bourgeoisie control the means of production anything offensive or challenge will never come to mainstream. Phillip Sipiora best sums up the idea of this approach when he says it aims to show the portrayal of social injustice, the ethical effects of of the pot elements, the conflict between personal and community responsibilities, and the way the proletariat simply exist without question in their suppressive, evil environment (122). When utilizing the Marxist approach, the two classes are identifiably divided. While both sides are aware of the division of power, the proletariat s conditioning leads to acceptance of their place with contentment and without challenge.
