Sexually Transmitted Disease Thesis Statement
Thesis Statement: Today s society enables and encourages teenagers to engage in sexual activity
and because of this; teens are putting themselves at risk for life changing problems that can be
avoided by remaining sexually inactive. Sexually transmitted diseases, or STD s, are something
that everyone is aware of, but few pay adequate attention to. Teenagers that are having sex far too
early are finding out what STD s are firsthand. Sexually transmitted diseases are becoming more
and more common in teens. The rates are becoming so high that it is alarming. Many teen do not
realize the risk that they are putting themselves at by having sex whether it is with one partner or
multiple partners (Immell). AIDS, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, and Syphilis... Show more content on

If a teen contracts an STD, they will have to make multiple changes in their life if what disease
they get does not leave them bed ridden in a hospital. The hardest thing for teenagers to
understand is that if they end up contracting an STD, not only are their parents going to be
disappointed, but they will most likely have social problems in school or in public in general.
Most teenagers would not necessarily want to be friends with someone who has an STD
because they would be afraid to somehow get it too. A teen that ended up with an STD would
most likely lose a lot in not all of their friends. An STD is just a giant social burden. Just under
half of the teens in the U.S. do not see themselves at risk for contracting an STD (Henry J.
Kaiser...). According to the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation, four million teens get an STD
every year in the U.S. This means that four millions teens have their social lives destroyed each
year. According to John D. Hartigan in his article Distributing Condoms in Schools Encourages
Teen Sex, he states that condoms are being distributed in schools. This basically enables and
encourages teenagers to have sex; it is like telling them that it is okay when it really is not.
Hartigan also states that teens are not responsible enough to use condoms correctly. Some teens do
not know how to use or cannot obtain a condom so they decide not to use one at all (The Facts of

The Scum Also Rises Analysis
In my view, the most significant time period in the development of literary journalism is the 1960 s
through early 1980 s; also known as the period of New Journalism. The innovative journalistic style
is a combination of fact and fiction writing. The literary journalists of this time period wrote about
real life situations using vivid descriptions and literary devices such as, characterization, scene
setting, and dialogue. They wrote longer and more complex pieces similar to novels, consisting of
more than one larger truth. The journalists pursued sources in the same manner as a conventional
journalist; however, they would spend months, or even years gathering the facts. The narrative form
plus the truth made the writing strong, allowing the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Public Residential Treatment Facilities For Youth
Policy Brief Abstract Over the last decade, there has been a rapid increase in the number of private
residential treatment facilities for youth in the United States. These private residential treatment
facilities are often referred to as specialty programs and include the following: emotional growth
schools; therapeutic boarding schools; outdoor therapeutic programs; behavior modification
schools; wilderness experience programs; and boot camps. There are no federal regulations
regarding the operation of these programs and few states have regulations in place either. The
majority of the programs are neither accredited nor licensed. A number of reports have surfaced
with claims of abuse, neglect, maltreatment, and even deaths occurring in these unregulated
facilities. After a decade of such reports the troubled teen industry has come under scrutiny. A
solution is needed to protect the youth that are required to participate in such programs. Research

Film Analysis Of Jim Jarmusch s Mystery Train
In the multi language comedic drama Mystery Train, the analysis of narrative vs narration,
character motivation, goals, narrative complexity, as well as other techniques such as colour, sound
and mise en scene are useful tools that help the audience understand the social commentary and
meaning that underlies the film.
Mystery Train is a 1989 film directed by Jim Jarmusch as part of an independent anthology of
films. This movie and the others in the anthology feature a strong travel aspect and represents
America as a peculiar land of many strangers and stories. Mystery Train has a more complex
narrative structure then Jarmusch s previous films, he described his intent for the film as episodic
but simultaneous . This was achieved by showing the film from 3 different points of views that
occupy the same space and time, all of which are connected by the same hotel and a gunshot. The
events take place simultaneously but are presented sequentially.
The first part of the narrative follows Japanese tourist couple Mitzuko and Jun and opens with them
listening to Mystery Train by Elvis Presley as their train arrives in Memphis. The rock and roll fans
are in town to visit Sun Studio, Graceland and other Elvis related landmarks. After which, they
stop at a hotel for the night and later turn on the radio to hear Blue Moon by Elvis as they go to
sleep. The following morning as the couple is getting ready to leave the hotel they hear a gunshot.
This is where the narrative switches

Nelson Mandela As A Vocation Leader
Nelson Mandela once stated there is no easy walk to freedom anywhere, and many of us will
have to pass through the valley of the shadow of death again and again before we reach the
mountain tops of our desires. This powerful quote was a summary of his life. Nelson was a
liberating activist in South Africa. His purpose as a leader was to end apartheid and advocate
for human rights. On the journey to his purpose, Nelson loved, lived and lost. Nelson fulfilled
his duty as a vocation leader but at the cost of his freedom, family and life. Vocation leadership is
journey, because at the end of your journey, your purpose in life will be revealed. What does it
mean to be a vocation leader? A vocation leader is a leader who has a purpose and a passion to
serve a higher purpose, mostly through experience. Nelson Mandela s purpose was to abolish
apartheid in South Africa. Nelson s family was royalty of Xhosa speaking Thembu Tribe in South
Africa Village of Mvezon. (cite) On July 18, 1918, Nelson was born to Nosekeni Fanny and
Gadla Henry Mphakanyiswa. (cite) Education was at the top of Nelson priorities being the first
in his family to receive a formal education form Clarkbury Boarding Institute, a Methodist
secondary school. When Nelson was 9 years old, his father died and he was adopted by a noble
regent who prepared him for tribal leadership. (cite) Nelson wrote long Walk to Freedom as a

Flu Season Research Paper
Countless news headlines refer to this flu season as deadly or the deadliest, lending to the
destructive nature of the 2018 flu activity. The worry and misery that a flu season can bring with
it has certainly surpassed that of the last few years. The high number of deaths is an alarming
aspect of this flu season and warrants the panic generated in the public. Its activity is so
widespread, but it is still possible to protect yourself and seek effective treatment if you become a
casualty of the flu.
A H3N2 Strain
This season has witnessed the presence and impact that two flu strains, the A H1N1, and the A
H3N2, but it is the A H3N2 that is the main culprit guilty of causing the majority of influenza
incidents this season. The A H3N2 is noted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC) as being linked to serious ailment in people over 65 and young kids, with at risk kids
being those under the age of 2. It is a rapidly mutating virus and is capable of evading vaccine,
which is characterized as being 30% effective against the A H3N2 strain. This means that this virus
is nastier, capable of sending more people to the hospital, complicating underlying conditions, and
causing more deaths.

Analysis Of The Poem Coca Cola And Coco Frio By Martin...
Disappearing Culture Every single individual on this planet has their own distinctive identity and
culture. Our culture helps us identify who we are and where we come from. In today s world, it
appears that cultural diffusion has become a normal part of everyone s life as cultural trends,
beliefs and customs spread quickly from one cultureto another. In his poem, Coca Cola and Coco
Frio, Martin Espada provides his readers with a great example of cultural diffusion that a boy
encounters when he visits his native country, Puerto Rico. The fat boy mentioned in the poem is
none other than Martin Espada himself (3). By sharing his childhood experience in Puerto Rico,
Espada tries to prove that acceptance of other cultures can have a negative impact as people
incline to neglect their own cultural values and begin to bear a resemblance to other countries.
As a child, Espada travelled from Brooklyn, New York to his homeland, Puerto Rico to visit his
family for the first time. During his visit, Espada fears that Puerto Rican culture is vanishing and
threatened by American values imposed on them due to the presence of American corporate
powers. It is known that Puerto Rican culture is a mix of many cultures and is strongly influenced
by Taino Indians, America, Africa and Spain ( Culture and Traditions in Puerto Rico ). During the
Spanish American War, Puerto Rico became the territory of the United States when it was
conquered on July 25, 1898 ( Puerto Rico: A U.S. Territory ).

The Great Recession Analysis
The Great Recession was financial down turn that happened from 2007 2009, largely because of the
housing market decline. The term recession refers to any significant decline in an economy that
lasts longer that a few months. Its beginning can be signified by two consecutive negative quarters
of economic growth. The great Recessioncaused many areas of the economy to struggle, one of the
biggest was the unemployment rate. In December of 2007 the unemployment rate was 5%. From
that point this number grew until it had reached 10% in October of 2010. Due to the unemployment

large banks so they could clear up their bad lending in the past and gain the confidence to lend

immediately after signed. This bill helped the government to start using more public spending
instead of private. The implementation of this strategy would lead to the creation and saving of
more jobs. To also help Stabilize the economy the FED added more liquidity to the banking
system, conducted stress Tests of all the major banks, and they were constantly ready to support
struggling banks. By adding liquidity the Fed gave short term loans to banks, by using stress
tests the FED worked with banks to make sure they had enough resources to make it through the
current recession and ones to come, and finally by showing support the FED prevented a loss in
confidence of major banks. RGDP or Real Gross Domestic product is the total dollar value of all

passenger transportation around the world. Although the airline industry is a very competitive
market it is very beneficial for everyone. Everyone has experienced distance at least once in their

Bible Vs Christian New Testament
Before I read this chapter I had absolutely no idea that the Jewish religion had their own bible.
The main differences that I came across after reading and doing research are the number of books,
the arrangement of the books, the primary language that the Bibles are read or studied in, the
content of the two Bibles, and the importance that is given to the oral and the written traditions in
making of the two holy books. The word Biblecomes from the Greek word biblia which means
books and both religions call their religious scripture Bible (Frigge 1). Judaismdates back to the

The Role Of Urban Life In The 19th Century
It cannot be denied that the late 18th century and early 19th century were revolutionary eras.
Significant and remarkable events such as the industrial revolution, the evolution of rural areas, the
development of new inventions and machinery, the rise of capitalism and individualism, but more
importantly, people migrating from rural to urban areas to have a better lifestyle, were topics
clearly depicted in the writings of Ferdinand Tönnies, Georg Simmel, Jane Jacobs, Robert Putnam,
Barry Wellman, and Barry Leighton. All these authors made great contributions to the study of
urban life and contemporary urban sociology. Tönnies s, Simmel s, Jacobs s, Putnam s, Wellman s,
and Leighton s writings mainly illustrate the dramatic changes that the world faced as a result of
the transition from traditional society to a modern, industrial and urban society. Furthermore, these
writers developed concepts to explain human interaction in metropolitan areas and to explain how
modernity and urbanity have changed dramatically the nature of human interactions. In Community
and Society, Tönnies (1887) discusses the concepts of Gemeinschaft (community) and
Gesellschaft (society). According to these concepts, people living in community and people living
in a society will develop a different type of will; these are essential will and arbitrary will.
Tönnies explains that individuals who form part of the Gemeinschaft act under essential will.
Essential will prioritizes the community s goals

chassis and similar or even same driving characteristics depending on the suspension. Although
that these cars have resulted from a joint production they all have different prices. The cheaper is
VW Touareg, then next is Audi Q7 and the most expansive is Porsche Cayenne. Porsche Cayenne

Psychology Should Be About Behavior And Not About An Inner...
B.F. Skinner was a psychologist that seemed to go against what many other psychologists thought
about personality. He did not believe in personality. In a way, Skinner has a point about
personality not existing because we do change our behavior based on the environment we are in.
(Olson Hergenhahn, 2011.) Since there is no proof of a personality, I believe that psychology
should be about behavior and not about an inner force. I do not believe a person is consistent
across time because if they were consistent across time, every person would always act the same
no matter what situation they are in. Many times, after the death of a loved one, a person acts a
little different and often times seems lose for a period of time. Due to the environmental change,
a happy and lovable person may seem sad and standoffish during the death of a loved one. Not
only did Skinner not believe in personality, he had his own opinion on personality. (Introduction.)
He believed that if children are not properly reinforced or engaged in school, the children may drop
out. (B. F. Skinneron Education.) Modifying a child s learning behavior begins with a classroom
environment that involves a rewarding atmosphere. This way, the child will be rewarded by
coming to school and learning something. The problem with the reward system is that you want to
slowly wean the children off of the reward system over time, in a way conditioning the children to
be positively reinforced without having to be rewarded.

Summary Of Addition By Garrett Hardin
In the excerpt, Life Ethics: The Case Against Helping the Poor. , the author Garrett Hardin raised
the question whether rich nations should sustain the needs of the more insufficient nations in the
world. He addresses this question by utilizing the idea of a lifeboat. Hardin metaphorically paints
the picture of a boat, which represents the world, the passengers within the boat, which represent
the rich nations, and the swimmers outside of the boat, which represent the poorer nations in need
of financial gain. In Addition, the author exerts that there is only a significant amount of room
available on the boat, limiting the inclusion of the swimming passengers. Furthermore, the ecologist
opens the door to the different scenarios in which questions the moralityof those
aboard.Simultaneously, Hardin delivers the possible outcomes of each solution to strengthen his
stance against assisting the poor. Garrett Hardin, zeroing in on the negative outcomes of allowing
others aboard the lifeboat, effectively supports his claim, through his metaphoric model of the
lifeboat , the plethora of scenarios, and the inclusion of moral theories. In the beginning, Garrett
Hardin adequately illustrates the idea of the Lifeboat Scenario to introduce his logic for not (280).
First, Hardin states that there are 50 people located inside the lifeboat, but he notes that there is
room for only 10 more, generating a total capacity of 60 people allowed onboard. Not to mention,
Hardin says

Analysis Of The Arch Of Constantine
The Arch of Constantine
The Arch of Constantine is located along the Via Triumphalis in Rome, situated between both the
Colosseum and the Temple of Venus and Roma. Along the width of the arch, there are three arches
with partially engaged Corinthian columns. The arch is about 20 meters high, 25 meters wide, and
7 meters deep. At the central opening, it is almost 12 meters high, with identical inscribed marble
panels above, one on each side, that read:
To the Emperor Caesar Flavius Constantinus, the Greatest, pious, fortunate, the Senate and people
of Rome, by inspiration of divinity and his own great mind with his righteous arms on both the
tyrant and his faction in one instant in rightful battle he avenged the republic, dedicated this arch as
a memorial to his military victory
The most amazing features of the Arch are the relief sculptures. Many of the sculptures are
standard roman art, like the Nike figures above the central archway. Other elements show a
multiplicity of styles. In fact, many of the sculptures of the arch were reused building stone or
sculptures taken away from older monuments dating around the 2nd century C.E. The origins of the
sculptures, with their imperial style, are resembled to those of the reigns of Trajan, Hadrian, and
Marcus Aurelius. Most of the reliefs feature the emperors participating in activities that demonstrate
their authority and piety by addressing troops and defeating enemies.

Contraceptives and Misconceptions Essay
Contraceptives and Misconceptions
There are many serious issues facing the U.S. today that require the rethinking of our problem

the facts. When a question of morals is involved, we often focus on what we want and not on what

contraceptives available to teenagers. Can it be that adult misconceptions are causing teenage

If children don t have sex, they don t need protection. If they do have sex, pregnancy and sexually

approve. Unfortunately, teenagers can and do have sex without parental approval. The truth
becomes apparent when a teen becomes a parent.
Parents try to be aware of what their children are doing; however, it is a misconception to think
that sexual activity can be controlled at all times. Our society, not biology, declares that teens are
not supposed to engage in sex. Teenagers are designed by nature to have sex, are possessed of all
the necessary equipment to do so, and have the mental capabilities to hide such behavior from
adults. The sex drive is not caused by teachers, contraceptives, or the media. Although well meant,
the notion that parental warnings can make sex less appealing is arrogant and foolish. Teenagers
are having sex without permission, and the goal must be to minimize the damage, not look for
someone to blame. As adults struggle with controlling the actions of their children, they should

Steroids and Sports Essay
Steroids and Sports Steroids, ever since their introduction into the sports world five decades
ago, they have been a controversial issue (WebMD medical news). Anabolic performance dates
as far back as the original Olympic Games. Today walking into any gym you will find some one
who is using steroids or some kind of enhancement supplement. Anabolic steroids are so popular
with athletes from high School level all the way up to the top. For the past fifty years, athletes
around the world use steroids to gain muscle mass, and along with regular work outs try to
achieve the results they desire. Kids today using these drugs are getting younger and younger every

The use of steroids by athletes to gain muscle mass is rapid and effective. Each individual user
makes a decision based on the activity they participate. Some athletes desire to jump higher,
others to run faster, or to throw the farthest and hit home runs, yet others desire to bench the
highest weight possible; and football players want to improve on lean body mass and have a
comparative edge, whether in high school, collage, or the pros. Andrew Rensik, of 9BNEWS
reports that, national statistics show that as much as ten percent of high school athletes are
involved in steroids (9NEWS.com). A university of Michigan report by the Monitoring Future

high school seniors felt that steroid use wasn t worth risking their health, that number dropped
to 51 percent in 2002 (www.nsba.org, Ron Kriochic, Mitch Stephens). Peak rates of annual use
occurred in 2002 and 2004 for 12th graders (2.5 percent), in 2000 and 2002 for 10th graders (2.2
percent). Eighth graders reported significant decrease in lifetime and annual steroid use in 2004,
as well as a decrease in perceived availability of steroid drugs. A significant decrease was also

Understanding The Chinese Culture Of A Chinese Patient
Many health care professionals think that if patients are just treated with respect, then cultural
issues will be avoided. That statement is not the correct. Five points of area that affect nursing care
when taking care of a Chinese patient, are the cultural beliefs with medical treatments, who and
when to discuss the prognosis and medical treatment to, dietary beliefs, pregnancies beliefs, and
death and dying. Many Chinese people believe in traditional Chinese medical treatments, and if the
doctors and nurses disregard their beliefs, then that could lead to mistrust. Chinese people may try
traditional approaches first, and then seek medical care if they fail. Communication barriers may
delay patients from getting medical treatment. Cross cultural communication skills are extremely
important to avoid miscommunication. A couple accommodations needed in nursing care would be
to take some extra time to build a rapport with the patient before discussing any medical issues.
Recognize how the Chinese cultureviews doctors and nurses, and encourage the patient to ask
questions, and give them a chance to answer the questions. In the Chinese culture, when the patient
is slow to respond to a question, or seems to be hesitant, it is simply a sign that respect is being
given to the person that is asking the question (Cross Cultural Communications for Healthcare
Professionals, 2015). Chinese people speak in low volume and considered Americans to speak

Cisco systems Architecture: ERP and Web Enabled IT
Case Introduction and Background and analysis of the Business
Cisco Systems, a Global leading company that manufactures and markets Internet Protocol (IP)
equipment, uses routers to send digital and voice data over the Internet. Founded in 1984 by three
former Stanford University Students, Cisco first found early success by targeting Government
agencies, Universities, and the Aerospace industry. In 1998, Cisco began targeting big businesses
and other agencies. Cisco did their Initial Public Offering (IPO) in 1990. However, disagreement

security. Up to this point in time, no one had the technology to create a product that with the speed

Don Valentine, one of Cisco s initial venture capitalist with a high tolerance for risk, needed more
talented personnel with a similar entrepreneurial spirit as himself. After several management
turnovers, John Chambers took over the position of CEO. Chambers initiated a strategy to excel
Cisco to its New World Network vision. Cisco became the lead provider of internetbased voice,
data, and video computing systems. The following were included in Chambers strategy: 1.
Assemble a broad product line which would position Cisco as a single point for business networks.
2. Systematize acquisitions to create efficiencies in the business process. 3. Set industry standards
for software networking 4. Find the best fitting strategic partners
Cisco proceeded to implement the plan and grow the IT department and infrastructure. Peter Solvic
joined Cisco as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and began to address the challenges and
shortcomings of the current systems. These included as lack of robust environment and flexibility
when a dramatic event occurred which illuminated the dire need to upgrade Cicsco s legacy

Junk Food Should Be Banned
Junk food is currently banned from school to help decrease obesity, but it may turn out that it is
doing more harm than good. Junk food is a favorite amongst students and the ban on it has affected
students as well as the schools themselves. The ban on junk food should be repealed, mainly
because students will get junk foodon their own, but the schools are also suffering from this ban,
and finally, studies show that junk foodis not the only cause of obesity. The first reason why we
need to take away the ban on junk food is kids will get junk food no matter what. According to

This is saying that because the kids are being exposed to older kids then their choices are being
affected by the older kids. The third reason for getting rid of the junk food ban is that schools are
losing large amounts of money because kids will not buy the healthier snacks that are now
provided by the school. Cary states that, Greenville County Schools says forced changes to its in
school food vendors could cost it $1 million in sales this school year. This is saying that schools
could lose up to $1 million because of the changes in vending options. Cary also says that the
ban on junk food could affect the after school tutoring programs because of budget cuts. So
because of the ban on junk food, students grades and success are being limited because of lack of
funding from vending machines and snacks sold throughout and after the school day. Finally,
Cary states, The ban has taken a bite out of fundraisers that sell cookies, candy bars, and popcorn.
It also affects vendors who provide items for sale in schools. This states that the ban on junk food
is also affecting fundraising activities and outside companies who will lose millions of dollars
because they can no longer sell their products to the schools. Though the ban on junk food has
affected schools and students in negative ways, it has also affected them in positive ways. Junk

Meaning Of Family In Lilo And Stitch
Ohana means family. Family means no one gets left behind or forgotten, Lilo (Disney s Channel

holds one of the realest meanings ever. I happen to wholeheartedly believe in this quote and every
meaning it may hold, not because I love the Lilo and Stitch series as well as the movies (though I
do), but because of the fact that I think it has an in depth significance in the meaning of family. It
shows a depiction even through the eyes of blue alien like creature the importance of the word

Rudyard Kipling s The Man Who Would Be King Essay
Rudyard Kipling s The Man who Would Be King deals with man s ability to rule. The character
Dravot s success and failure in ruling derives from the perception of him as a god, instead of a
king. Kipling uses the perception of Dravot as a god to show that though a king can rule as a god,
he becomes a king by being human.
Dravot gains kingly power by being perceived as a god. The perception of him as a god occurs
through his actions and luck. After helping the first village Peachy and he find in Kafiristan,
Dravot takes power from the former leaders. He becomes more than a leader to the people,
however, as every morning Dravot sat by the side of old Imbra, and the people came and

it s the missing Mark that no one could understand the why of (95). The displaying of the mark
proves Dravot as a god, since only the Gods know that (99). Dravot establishes his kingdom by
ruling as a god, not a king.
Dravot s perception as a god leads to his downfall by conflicting with his kingly aspirations. He
intends to establish a dynasty, and he needs a Queen to breed a King s son for the King (98). Dravot
plans to chose a woman from amongst his tribes; alas, his people are skeptical of this, for How
can daughters of men marry Gods or Devils? (99). Dravot s god appearance directly conflicts
with his aspiration for a dynasty; he cannot find a wife who will want him as a god, yet he needs
a woman to bear his children. He ignores all warnings and proceeds to find and marry his queen.
The downfall of Dravot occurs on his wedding day, as his bride bites him The slut s bitten me!

sight of blood awakens the natives to Dravot s mortality. Shrieks of Not a God, not a Devil, but

him a god.

The matrix sets were designed to have a worn and torn look that was imposing and grid like. The
scenes depicting the characters in the real world mostly took place on the ship, Nebuchadnezzar.
These sets were designed to have a patched up look where the wires and components of the ship
were clearly visible, communicating the idea to the audience that the ship is a marriage between
man and machine. In addition to how the sets looked, how the scenes were shot within those sets
added to theme as well. When the characters were within the matrix, the scenes were shot using a
green tint, mimicking the feel of early monochrome computer monitors. When the characters were
in the real world, they used a blue tint and longer shot lenses which soften the background while
putting more emphasis on the characters.
As I also mentioned earlier, the actual appearance of the characters in the film is another
component in the theme of appearance verses reality. When the main characters are in the real
world, they are shown with having a connection port on the back of their necks. This connection
port is the means by which the characters can reconnect to the matrix. The characters were also
depicted in the real world as wearing clothes with a more textile feel, and hair that is less stylized.

Essay on My Development as a Writer
When writing a five paragraph essay, there are five steps one must fallow in order to attain
perfection, these steps include understanding the question, brainstorming, writing a rough copy,
revising, and creating a final draft. The first and most important step is understanding the topic. The
topic of the essayis what the essay will be about and if this is misunderstood, the whole essay will
be off course. The second step, brainstorming, will help organize thoughts and ideas so they flow
amiably. There are many different ways to brainstorm, some of the most helpful are making a web
of ideas, making a list of ideas, or creating a Venn diagram to compare and contrast the conviction.
All these ideas will be related to the topic at hand. For... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next step is revising and editing the rough draft. Revision helps the writer attain different
opinions and assessments about how the essay sounds, and flows, getting grammar and spelling
suggestions along the way. It is better to have many opinions rather than one because one person
might not catch a misspelled word that another would have. The more opinions a paper gets, the
better it may be. The final step when writing a five paragraph essay is creating a final draft. This is
the finished product and should include every aspect that an essay needs to get a point across.
Such aspects like a proper introduction, a clear thesis, three supporting paragraphs and a
conclusion that restates the thesis. Over the past few months, I have written many essays which
required me to research topics and build essays based on my opinions and thoughts, my favorite
being Generation Change and worst being children. The essay Generation Change is my best
work because of how I made the paper flow by using transitions and complex word choice. The
topic was about what I would name my generation and why. I thought it was easier to write about
this topic because I could use insight that I learned over the years to give examples such as the
introduction of global warming, the advancement of technology, the first African American
president and the change in culture. My worst essay in my opinion would be an essay comparing
and contrasting having children. I couldn t relate to

These are said to get a high reading of electromagnetic frequencies whenever a spirit is present. A
lot of people think the readings are fabricated, from the EMF detector having a malfunction and

also exist as energy and this energy surrounds us while we live. This energy that surrounds us is

When we die, people are said to lose six ounces instantly. Some people believe that the reason we

These decisions led to a hatred and fear of Germanythat Bismarck had fought to prevent during his

While both Bismarck and William II ruled Germany, both tried to keep the Nightmare Coalition

Drug Seizures In Canada Case Study
Bouchard et al. (2011) assert that there are no assessments regarding the amount of ATS being
produced and the amount of ATS lab seizures stays low. Estimates for ATS use and seizure data
suggest that there is an annual surplus of between 1733 kg and 8624 kg of ATS available to be
exported from Canada (Bouchard et al., 2011). Bouchard et al. (2011) contend that this indicates
that somewhere between 38% and 75% of ATS produced in Canada is exported. Organized crime
groups have greatly increased synthetic drug export to foreign countries, such as the United States,
Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia, by transforming legally acquired substances from pharmacies
(Morselli et al., 2016). Morselli et al. (2016) state that 62 percent of illicit drug... Show more

National Intelligence Analysis, Criminal Intelligence, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police
(2007) maintain that from 2004, the amount of MDMA (ecstasy) shipments and the quantity of
ecstasy seized started to decrease to the point that shipments were essentially eliminated by
2006. In 2006, Canada took the Netherlands and Belgium s place as the predominant source of
ecstasy supply both domestically and in the United States illicit drug market (NIA et al., 2007).
A more recent report by the RCMP indicates that the situation with respect to synthesis,
distribution and export of ecstasy is rapidly escalating (NIA et al., 2010). National Intelligence
Analysis et al. (2010) argue that land transport is the main method of smuggling MDMA
through the Canada US border as rail and air methods of shipment are not as common. Canada
would export MDMA to nations in the Asia Pacific region, and MDMA seizures in Mexico and
Jamaica indicated that criminal organizations in Canada were further expanding their
international operations (NIA et al., 2010). Although there is a stable market for MDMA in
Canada, it is being over produced, and that excess of MDMA is being used for a lucrative export
(Hudson et al., 2014). This is confirmed by a United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime report,
which contends that the predominant source of ecstasy in North America is criminal organizations
in Canada (Hudson et al., 2014). Even though MDMA trafficking is occurring all across Canada,

Project Planning Tools Are Useful For Tasks Essay
Project planning tools are useful for tasks with the possibility of different outcomes, where risks
of problems and failures exist and, therefore, require planning and all possible assessing options as
well as organizing activities and resources to deliver a successful result.
Some project planning tools are enumerated below. It is pertinent to mention that the effectiveness
and appropriateness of each one is a function of the project stage and the users experience:
PERT CHARTS
PERT is a planning and control tool used for defining and controlling the tasks necessary to
complete a project.
PERT Planning Steps: Identify the specific activities and milestones Determine the proper sequence
of activities Construct a network diagram. Estimate the time required for each activity Determine
Critical Path A distinguishing feature of PERT is its ability to deal with uncertainty in activity
completion times (Netmba, 2006). This is achieved by using 3 time estimates elements for each
activity (optimistic, most likely and pessimistic estimates namely). The weighted average of the 3
is then used as the due time.
This helps to bias time estimates away from the unrealistically short timescales typically assumed
Advantage as indicated on Project Management Tools and Techniques(Maserang, 2002):
Allows for better forecasting of resource requirements.

Feature Matching
Determining the most beneficial augmentative and alternative communication device is a critical
component in AAC because it takes time and dedication to teach a client how to use the device as
well as teach others around them how to understand. Hypothetically if a SLP were to provide
wasted effort the results could have the potential to be devastating because in some circumstances
all the client has is little time. Lucky enough for speech language pathologists there are models for
assessment that provide guided intervention tactics. Assessment models can be described as feature
matching, the participation model, and or the universal design for learning. Typically, feature
matching is a quick and easy way to guide assessment because essentially... Show more content on

The participation model begins by identifying the participation patterns and communication needs
where the clinician then identifies participation barriers (Beukelman Mirenda, 2013, p. 108). SLP s
are then taught to differentiate between assessing opportunity barriers and assessing access barriers
in the concept that the working clinician evaluates policy, practice, facilitator skill, facilitator
knowledge, attitude, and current communication (Beukelman Mirenda, 2013, p. 108). The client s
current communication assessment includes a full assessment of their possible potential to increase
natural abilities, an assessment of potential environmental adaptations, and an assessment of the
potential to utilize AAC systems or devices (Beukelman Mirenda, 2013, p. 108). Once there has
been a thorough analysis the speech language pathologist should plan and implement interventions
that will span across the present and the future with a follow up to determine how effective the
intervention has been in advancing a client s participation (Beukelman Mirenda, 2013, p.

How Did Benito Mussolini Rise To Power
Born on July 29, 1883, in Dovia di Predappio, Forlì, Italy, Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini
was the eldest of three children. His father, Alessandro, was a blacksmith and a socialist who
spent most of his time on politics and his money on his mistress. Mussolini s mother, Rosa, was a
Catholic schoolteacher who provided their family with stability and income. While he was
younger, Benito Mussolini showed intelligence, but was disobedient. His father instilled in him a
passion for socialist politics and defiance against authority. Although he was expelled from several
schools for bullying and defying school authorities, he eventually obtained a teaching certificate in
1901 and, for a short time, worked as a schoolmaster. Mussolini traveled to... Show more content on

Mussolini s leadership demonstrated use of clever methods of gaining support. Others could

enough to control the government. The Socialists was open to more. This didn t sit well with
Mussolini, so he gathered his followers, dressed in black shirts, and threatened to march on Rome

government had intervened early. They failed to utilize their forces that were all at their disposal.
However, Mussolini took this to his advantage and seized control of Italy. It was a perfect storm;
Italy was going through tough times economically, socially and politically and Mussolini seemed

The War Of Versailles Between The Allies And Germany
At the beginning of 1919 all eyes were turned towards Paris. The city was to become the main
focal point for the world s population. This was where the peace talks were to be held to draw a
close to the First World War, the war to end all wars. World leaders from 32 countries converged
on Paris armed with the demands for their countries reparation. The Big Three participants of the
peace talks wanted more than just reparation. For six months the world s most powerful and
influential men met every day arguing, then discussing, then arguing again. Deals were made,
various treaties drawn up and new countries and organisations were created, the decisions made
between January and June 1919 were the most important. This demonstration of power, debate
and decision making had never been seen before nor would it be seen ever again. The treaty was
signed at the Palace of Versailles between the Allies and Germany. The three most important
politicians there were David Lloyd George representing Great Britain, Georges Clemenceau for
France and Woodrow Wilson, president of the United States of America. The victors from World
War One were in no mood to be charitable to the defeated nations and Germany in particular was
held responsible for the war and its consequences. (http://www.historylearningsite.co.uk/modern

Morality And The Moral Theories
Meaning of the phrases пїЅthe ends justifies the means The phrase пїЅthe ends justifies the means
is a very popular in many fields and is also used in our day to day living. However, it is more
used when talking about morality issues whereby it means that the morality of an action or
behavior depends entirely on the result of that action and not the behavior or action itself. This
is phrase that can be viewed different by proponent of different moral theories. A
consequentialist theorist will agree with this phrase. For example, if one tells a lie to save the
other person from grief, the action of telling the eye is viewed as good. Another example is
whereby a person kills the other in order to save the others. The two actions though they may be
viewed as going against the moral values in the society will be viewed as right because they
lead to positive results, meaning that the ends justifies the means. In overall, what it means is
that it does not matter the means used to achieve certain goals regardless of how bad or violent
they may be. On the other hand, a deontologist would hold the killing as wrong regardless as to
whether the results are positive or negative. This means that there are actions or behaviors that
are wrong no matter what. For example, like in the above examples, regardless of whether lying
saves another person grief or killing a person saves other people lives, those two actions are wrong
regardless of their positive results (Waller, 2005). An informed

Matthew The book of Matthew is a Gospel that contains Narraitive History, Genealogy, Parables,
Sermons, and some Prophetic Oracles. It was composed by Matthew (Levi), the Disciple of Christ

those in government like Pilate and religious leaders, for example, the Pharisees ( who endeavor to

are mushrooming even in small towns. Italian, Mexican, Lebanese, Japanese, Cajun the list is
growing.
Corroborating this trend, Euromonitor International, a market research company, says the amount
of money Indians spend on meals outside the home has more than doubled in the past decade, to
about US$5 billion a year, and is expected to double again in about half that time.
Another interesting trend noticed in consumer patterns is the growth of branded products. The
branded food market is on a roll. It grew over 5 per cent in 2004, according to the latest ACNielsen
Global Services report on global trends in food and beverages.
That makes food an attractive proposition for investors. Savvy companies have pumped in more
than Rs 60,000 crore (US$13.78 billion) in new food and farm businesses in 2004. According to
industry estimates, 321 private sector projects worth Rs 60,360 crore (US$13.86 billion) were
announced in 2004 compared to 89 with an investment of Rs 2,130 crore (US$489.3 million) in
2003.
The popularity of food and agro products is not surprising when the sector is now offering a
growth of more than 150 per cent in sales. With such promise in the sector, a number of foreign
companies have joined the fray.

Contamination Caused by Pesticides in Our Environment
The environmental contamination is a most important universal problem in present scenario.
Diverse use of pesticides in agricultural usage causes to numerous environmental problems. These
pesticide residues in drinking water lead to increasing concern in health prospect. Vast usage of
some pesticides contributes to contamination of water bodies mostly, surface and ground water
sources. Misuse, accidental spillage, and improper disposal have resulted in extensive groundwater
pollution (Edgehill et al., 1982). Chlorophenols such as penta chlorophenol (PCP) and
tetrachloropenol (TeCP) and their salts, are broad spectrum biocides that have been used in
agriculture, industry and public health since the 1920s, and are designated as priority pollutants in
the list of hazardous wastes [Zheng, et al., 2004]. Several toxic chemical, agrochemical and
pharmaceutical industries are discharging poisonous effluents without appropriate treatment. These
hazardous wastes are potential threat to human and animal life. Trace amounts of organochlorine
pesticides present in water and wastewater are the almost difficult to separate from water.
Therefore there is a demand for the efficient removal of organic effluents from aqueous phase.
Chemical used to kill pests mostly those of organochlorine pesticides were critically prohibited in
several countries due to their toxicity and stability in the environment, PCP comes under this
group. PCP is found in two forms as a sodium salt of PCP (C6HCl5O)

Health is a vital aspect of life, which is why it is important to have an access to different health
care services. The world s population is rising radically every year; thus, the demand for quality
health care services also increases. With the application of modern technology the health system has
been able to accommodate this demand in many countries through the implementation of

The Challenges Of Communicative Language Teaching
As we all know that English is a global language, there is a need to learn the language to meet the
future challenges especially to the students of non native speakers of English. Language is used as
a tool for communication. To learn a foreign language like English, students need mental
involvement. Modern classrooms require the learner centered approaches. One such approach is
Communicative Language Teaching. This type of teaching facilitates learningthrough modern
techniques. Many researchers suggest that students who are actively involved in learning process
will get success. Once they are actively involved in learning process they get self confidence and
motivation. The instructional materials and techniques used by teachers have a direct effect on

One of the basic reasons for failure of maximum students in these areas is that, they fail to
comprehend and utilize these faculties to the fullest extent. In our everyday use of language, we
use all the four LSRW skills, ie., Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. We are continually
integrating the language skills or switching from one skill to another. It is best to reflect this
integration when teaching a second or foreign language. For example, good pre or post listening
activities usually involve speaking, and sometimes reading and writing as well. Similarly, good
pre or post reading activities usually involve listening and speaking, and sometimes reading.
Writing may be handled orally first (for example, a picture composition, or brainstorming ideas),
and may also involve reading as well, for example, reading a letter and writing a reply. These four
skills of LSRW remain the cornerstones of students language learning programs. It is a fact that
students with routine access to technology learn basic language skills faster than

Stephen Crane Hypocrisy Of Religion
The Progressive Era gave reformers concerns about the poor of American cities. Many developed
the view that poverty was a result of some people s characters and not their environmental and
social condition. This brought up the argument and idea of the deserving poor versus the non
deserving poor. This alluded to the thought that character made a person poor and not that being
poor made the character. However, Stephen Crane s short story Maggie: A Girl of the Streets
critiques many of these ideas. His biggest critique was that of religion and the standards and
hypocrisy of it. This essay will argue that Crane critiques the hypocrisy of Christianityand
Christians through the characterization of a wide range of characters in his novel.
The most prominent example of Crane s critique against religion and it s hypocrisy is Maggie s
mother Mary. Even her name is a critique for it could reference religious symbol Mary, mother of
Jesus. However, Mary Johnson is the complete opposite of the Virgin Mary. She is a hypocrite
both personally and with her own religion. Mrs. Johnson is also a voice of the moral norm of her
time, despite the fact that she violates it at every point. Mrs. Johnson is an alcoholic who abuses
her children and she makes the home unlivable by her drunken rages, yet she condemns her
daughter for having sex out of wedlock. She refuses to let Maggie live with her even when
Maggie is abandoned by her lover. She uses her religion of Christianity as the excuse yet she

English language development: The study authors did not find any statistically significant

lower rates than private schools. In order to further analyze educational trends over time, I

In 2015, the U.S. Department of Education announced that the overall graduation rate peaked at
eight two percent during the 2013 2014 school year. (Kamenetz 2015:1). According to Arne
Duncan, U.S. Secretary of Education, graduation rates have been steadily improving since a
tracking system was adopted to monitor it. This rate can also be attributed to the fact that initial
warning systems have been adopted to ensure that students remain on track to graduation.
Additional diploma tracks have also been offered to protect graduation rates. This can also be
paralleled to the fact that the high school dropout rate among those aged sixteen to twenty four
has decreased from 10.9 percent in 2009 to 6.8 percent in 2013 (NCES 2015:4). Nonetheless, if
more students are graduating from high school than in the past, it is important to examine where
they are going afterward. In the fall of 2015, 20.2 million students enrolled in American colleges
and universities. This data illustrates that there has been a 4.9 million increase in students
attending American colleges and universities since 2000 (NCES 2015:5). Furthermore, 65.5
percent of students enrolled in a college or university immediately after graduating from high
school in 2013. Thus, most students enrolled in public schools graduate and attend college, unlike
in the past. These rates may be attributed to the fact that it is much more vital to possess a high
school diploma and college degree than in the past, regardless of the state of public education.
However, these rates still indicate the emergence of positive academic and social outcomes in public

  • 2. Sexually Transmitted Disease Thesis Statement Thesis Statement: Today s society enables and encourages teenagers to engage in sexual activity and because of this; teens are putting themselves at risk for life changing problems that can be avoided by remaining sexually inactive. Sexually transmitted diseases, or STD s, are something that everyone is aware of, but few pay adequate attention to. Teenagers that are having sex far too early are finding out what STD s are firsthand. Sexually transmitted diseases are becoming more and more common in teens. The rates are becoming so high that it is alarming. Many teen do not realize the risk that they are putting themselves at by having sex whether it is with one partner or multiple partners (Immell). AIDS, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, and Syphilis... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If a teen contracts an STD, they will have to make multiple changes in their life if what disease they get does not leave them bed ridden in a hospital. The hardest thing for teenagers to understand is that if they end up contracting an STD, not only are their parents going to be disappointed, but they will most likely have social problems in school or in public in general. Most teenagers would not necessarily want to be friends with someone who has an STD because they would be afraid to somehow get it too. A teen that ended up with an STD would most likely lose a lot in not all of their friends. An STD is just a giant social burden. Just under half of the teens in the U.S. do not see themselves at risk for contracting an STD (Henry J. Kaiser...). According to the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation, four million teens get an STD every year in the U.S. This means that four millions teens have their social lives destroyed each year. According to John D. Hartigan in his article Distributing Condoms in Schools Encourages Teen Sex, he states that condoms are being distributed in schools. This basically enables and encourages teenagers to have sex; it is like telling them that it is okay when it really is not. Hartigan also states that teens are not responsible enough to use condoms correctly. Some teens do not know how to use or cannot obtain a condom so they decide not to use one at all (The Facts of ... • 3. The Scum Also Rises Analysis In my view, the most significant time period in the development of literary journalism is the 1960 s through early 1980 s; also known as the period of New Journalism. The innovative journalistic style is a combination of fact and fiction writing. The literary journalists of this time period wrote about real life situations using vivid descriptions and literary devices such as, characterization, scene setting, and dialogue. They wrote longer and more complex pieces similar to novels, consisting of more than one larger truth. The journalists pursued sources in the same manner as a conventional journalist; however, they would spend months, or even years gathering the facts. The narrative form plus the truth made the writing strong, allowing the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Los Angeles Notebook, Didion gives the readers a slice of Los Angeles. She talks to the readers by showing them. A sentence from her excerpt in The Art of Fact reads, Los Angeles weather is the weather of catastrophe, of apocalypse and, just as reliably long and bitter winters of New England determine the way life is lived there, so the violence and the unpredictability of Santa Ana affect the entire quality of life in Los Angeles, Accenture its impermanence, its unreliability. The wind shows us how close to the edge we are (Art of Fact, pg. 482). In this part of her excerpt she showed the reader how the wind reflects the nature of Los Angeles life. Public Residential Treatment Facilities For Youth Policy Brief Abstract Over the last decade, there has been a rapid increase in the number of private residential treatment facilities for youth in the United States. These private residential treatment facilities are often referred to as specialty programs and include the following: emotional growth schools; therapeutic boarding schools; outdoor therapeutic programs; behavior modification schools; wilderness experience programs; and boot camps. There are no federal regulations regarding the operation of these programs and few states have regulations in place either. The majority of the programs are neither accredited nor licensed. A number of reports have surfaced with claims of abuse, neglect, maltreatment, and even deaths occurring in these unregulated facilities. After a decade of such reports the troubled teen industry has come under scrutiny. A solution is needed to protect the youth that are required to participate in such programs. • 5. Film Analysis Of Jim Jarmusch s Mystery Train In the multi language comedic drama Mystery Train, the analysis of narrative vs narration, character motivation, goals, narrative complexity, as well as other techniques such as colour, sound and mise en scene are useful tools that help the audience understand the social commentary and meaning that underlies the film. Mystery Train is a 1989 film directed by Jim Jarmusch as part of an independent anthology of films. This movie and the others in the anthology feature a strong travel aspect and represents America as a peculiar land of many strangers and stories. Mystery Train has a more complex narrative structure then Jarmusch s previous films, he described his intent for the film as episodic but simultaneous . This was achieved by showing the film from 3 different points of views that occupy the same space and time, all of which are connected by the same hotel and a gunshot. The events take place simultaneously but are presented sequentially. The first part of the narrative follows Japanese tourist couple Mitzuko and Jun and opens with them listening to Mystery Train by Elvis Presley as their train arrives in Memphis. The rock and roll fans are in town to visit Sun Studio, Graceland and other Elvis related landmarks. After which, they stop at a hotel for the night and later turn on the radio to hear Blue Moon by Elvis as they go to sleep. The following morning as the couple is getting ready to leave the hotel they hear a gunshot. This is where the narrative switches ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Analysis Of The Poem Coca Cola And Coco Frio By Martin... Disappearing Culture Every single individual on this planet has their own distinctive identity and culture. Our culture helps us identify who we are and where we come from. In today s world, it appears that cultural diffusion has become a normal part of everyone s life as cultural trends, beliefs and customs spread quickly from one cultureto another. In his poem, Coca Cola and Coco Frio, Martin Espada provides his readers with a great example of cultural diffusion that a boy encounters when he visits his native country, Puerto Rico. The fat boy mentioned in the poem is none other than Martin Espada himself (3). By sharing his childhood experience in Puerto Rico, Espada tries to prove that acceptance of other cultures can have a negative impact as people incline to neglect their own cultural values and begin to bear a resemblance to other countries. As a child, Espada travelled from Brooklyn, New York to his homeland, Puerto Rico to visit his family for the first time. During his visit, Espada fears that Puerto Rican culture is vanishing and threatened by American values imposed on them due to the presence of American corporate powers. It is known that Puerto Rican culture is a mix of many cultures and is strongly influenced by Taino Indians, America, Africa and Spain ( Culture and Traditions in Puerto Rico ). During the Spanish American War, Puerto Rico became the territory of the United States when it was conquered on July 25, 1898 ( Puerto Rico: A U.S. Territory ). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The main differences that I came across after reading and doing research are the number of books, the arrangement of the books, the primary language that the Bibles are read or studied in, the content of the two Bibles, and the importance that is given to the oral and the written traditions in making of the two holy books. • 14. The Role Of Urban Life In The 19th Century It cannot be denied that the late 18th century and early 19th century were revolutionary eras. Significant and remarkable events such as the industrial revolution, the evolution of rural areas, the development of new inventions and machinery, the rise of capitalism and individualism, but more importantly, people migrating from rural to urban areas to have a better lifestyle, were topics clearly depicted in the writings of Ferdinand TГ¶nnies, Georg Simmel, Jane Jacobs, Robert Putnam, Barry Wellman, and Barry Leighton. All these authors made great contributions to the study of urban life and contemporary urban sociology. TГ¶nnies s, Simmel s, Jacobs s, Putnam s, Wellman s, and Leighton s writings mainly illustrate the dramatic changes that the world faced as a result of the transition from traditional society to a modern, industrial and urban society. Furthermore, these writers developed concepts to explain human interaction in metropolitan areas and to explain how modernity and urbanity have changed dramatically the nature of human interactions. In Community and Society, TГ¶nnies (1887) discusses the concepts of Gemeinschaft (community) and Gesellschaft (society). According to these concepts, people living in community and people living in a society will develop a different type of will; these are essential will and arbitrary will. He did not believe in personality. In a way, Skinner has a point about personality not existing because we do change our behavior based on the environment we are in. (Olson Hergenhahn, 2011.) Since there is no proof of a personality, I believe that psychology should be about behavior and not about an inner force. I do not believe a person is consistent across time because if they were consistent across time, every person would always act the same no matter what situation they are in. Many times, after the death of a loved one, a person acts a little different and often times seems lose for a period of time. Due to the environmental change, a happy and lovable person may seem sad and standoffish during the death of a loved one. Not only did Skinner not believe in personality, he had his own opinion on personality. (Introduction.) He believed that if children are not properly reinforced or engaged in school, the children may drop out. (B. F. Skinneron Education.) Modifying a child s learning behavior begins with a classroom environment that involves a rewarding atmosphere. This way, the child will be rewarded by coming to school and learning something. The problem with the reward system is that you want to slowly wean the children off of the reward system over time, in a way conditioning the children to be positively reinforced without having to be rewarded. ... Summary Of Addition By Garrett Hardin In the excerpt, Life Ethics: The Case Against Helping the Poor. , the author Garrett Hardin raised the question whether rich nations should sustain the needs of the more insufficient nations in the world. He addresses this question by utilizing the idea of a lifeboat. Hardin metaphorically paints the picture of a boat, which represents the world, the passengers within the boat, which represent the rich nations, and the swimmers outside of the boat, which represent the poorer nations in need of financial gain. In Addition, the author exerts that there is only a significant amount of room available on the boat, limiting the inclusion of the swimming passengers. Furthermore, the ecologist opens the door to the different scenarios in which questions the moralityof those aboard.Simultaneously, Hardin delivers the possible outcomes of each solution to strengthen his stance against assisting the poor. Garrett Hardin, zeroing in on the negative outcomes of allowing others aboard the lifeboat, effectively supports his claim, through his metaphoric model of the lifeboat , the plethora of scenarios, and the inclusion of moral theories. In the beginning, Garrett Hardin adequately illustrates the idea of the Lifeboat Scenario to introduce his logic for not (280). Parents try to be aware of what their children are doing; however, it is a misconception to think that sexual activity can be controlled at all times. Our society, not biology, declares that teens are not supposed to engage in sex. Teenagers are designed by nature to have sex, are possessed of all the necessary equipment to do so, and have the mental capabilities to hide such behavior from adults. The sex drive is not caused by teachers, contraceptives, or the media. Although well meant, the notion that parental warnings can make sex less appealing is arrogant and foolish. Teenagers are having sex without permission, and the goal must be to minimize the damage, not look for someone to blame. The matrix sets were designed to have a worn and torn look that was imposing and grid like. The scenes depicting the characters in the real world mostly took place on the ship, Nebuchadnezzar. These sets were designed to have a patched up look where the wires and components of the ship were clearly visible, communicating the idea to the audience that the ship is a marriage between man and machine. In addition to how the sets looked, how the scenes were shot within those sets added to theme as well. When the characters were within the matrix, the scenes were shot using a green tint, mimicking the feel of early monochrome computer monitors. When the characters were in the real world, they used a blue tint and longer shot lenses which soften the background while putting more emphasis on the characters. As I also mentioned earlier, the actual appearance of the characters in the film is another component in the theme of appearance verses reality. When the main characters are in the real world, they are shown with having a connection port on the back of their necks. Essay on My Development as a Writer When writing a five paragraph essay, there are five steps one must fallow in order to attain perfection, these steps include understanding the question, brainstorming, writing a rough copy, revising, and creating a final draft. The first and most important step is understanding the topic. The topic of the essayis what the essay will be about and if this is misunderstood, the whole essay will be off course. The second step, brainstorming, will help organize thoughts and ideas so they flow amiably. There are many different ways to brainstorm, some of the most helpful are making a web of ideas, making a list of ideas, or creating a Venn diagram to compare and contrast the conviction. All these ideas will be related to the topic at hand. For... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The next step is revising and editing the rough draft. Revision helps the writer attain different opinions and assessments about how the essay sounds, and flows, getting grammar and spelling suggestions along the way. It is better to have many opinions rather than one because one person might not catch a misspelled word that another would have. The more opinions a paper gets, the better it may be. The final step when writing a five paragraph essay is creating a final draft. This is the finished product and should include every aspect that an essay needs to get a point across. Such aspects like a proper introduction, a clear thesis, three supporting paragraphs and a conclusion that restates the thesis. Over the past few months, I have written many essays which required me to research topics and build essays based on my opinions and thoughts, my favorite being Generation Change and worst being children. The essay Generation Change is my best work because of how I made the paper flow by using transitions and complex word choice. The topic was about what I would name my generation and why. I thought it was easier to write about this topic because I could use insight that I learned over the years to give examples such as the introduction of global warming, the advancement of technology, the first African American president and the change in culture. My worst essay in my opinion would be an essay comparing and contrasting having children. I couldn t relate to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Morality And The Moral Theories Meaning of the phrases пїЅthe ends justifies the means The phrase пїЅthe ends justifies the means is a very popular in many fields and is also used in our day to day living. However, it is more used when talking about morality issues whereby it means that the morality of an action or behavior depends entirely on the result of that action and not the behavior or action itself. This is phrase that can be viewed different by proponent of different moral theories. A consequentialist theorist will agree with this phrase. For example, if one tells a lie to save the other person from grief, the action of telling the eye is viewed as good. Another example is whereby a person kills the other in order to save the others. The two actions though they may be viewed as going against the moral values in the society will be viewed as right because they lead to positive results, meaning that the ends justifies the means. In overall, what it means is that it does not matter the means used to achieve certain goals regardless of how bad or violent they may be. On the other hand, a deontologist would hold the killing as wrong regardless as to whether the results are positive or negative. This means that there are actions or behaviors that are wrong no matter what. One of the basic reasons for failure of maximum students in these areas is that, they fail to comprehend and utilize these faculties to the fullest extent. In our everyday use of language, we use all the four LSRW skills, ie., Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. We are continually integrating the language skills or switching from one skill to another. It is best to reflect this integration when teaching a second or foreign language. For example, good pre or post listening activities usually involve speaking, and sometimes reading and writing as well. Similarly, good pre or post reading activities usually involve listening and speaking, and sometimes reading. Writing may be handled orally first (for example, a picture composition, or brainstorming ideas), and may also involve reading as well, for example, reading a letter and writing a reply. These four skills of LSRW remain the cornerstones of students language learning programs. It is a fact that students with routine access to technology learn basic language skills faster than ... • 52. Stephen Crane Hypocrisy Of Religion The Progressive Era gave reformers concerns about the poor of American cities. Many developed the view that poverty was a result of some people s characters and not their environmental and social condition. This brought up the argument and idea of the deserving poor versus the non deserving poor. This alluded to the thought that character made a person poor and not that being poor made the character. However, Stephen Crane s short story Maggie: A Girl of the Streets critiques many of these ideas. His biggest critique was that of religion and the standards and hypocrisy of it. This essay will argue that Crane critiques the hypocrisy of Christianityand Christians through the characterization of a wide range of characters in his novel. The most prominent example of Crane s critique against religion and it s hypocrisy is Maggie s mother Mary. Even her name is a critique for it could reference religious symbol Mary, mother of Jesus. However, Mary Johnson is the complete opposite of the Virgin Mary. She is a hypocrite both personally and with her own religion. Mrs. Johnson is also a voice of the moral norm of her time, despite the fact that she violates it at every point. Mrs. Johnson is an alcoholic who abuses her children and she makes the home unlivable by her drunken rages, yet she condemns her daughter for having sex out of wedlock. She refuses to let Maggie live with her even when Maggie is abandoned by her lover. She uses her religion of Christianity as the excuse yet she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Bilingual Cooperative Integrated Reading And Composition Describe the topic. What is the intended target of the intervention and the goal? Bilingual Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (BCIRC) is the intervention program designed to help Spanish speaking English Language Learners(ELL) students successfully read in Spanish and make a successful transition to English reading. The target of the intervention was the Spanish dominant ELL students who attended seven elementary schools which had the highest rates of poverty and the lowest levels of student achievement in El Paso, Texas. Although the study authors found some statistically significant differences in the mean reading achievement test scores between the BCIRC students and the comparison group students in the subgroup findings, the WWC did not confirm the statistically significant positive effects of this finding because only one study was reviewed. English language development: The study authors did not find any statistically significant differences in the mean language development test scores between the BCIRC students and the comparison group students both in the study findings and the subgroup findings. However, the WWC reported that the intervention had potentially positive effects on English language development reading achievement because the study showed the substantively important positive effect with the large effect sizes (.29 in the study finding /.38, .22, .53 in the subgroup findings), and it also did not show a statistically significant or substantively important negative effect. However, the WWC did confirm the statistically significant positive effects of this finding because only one study was reviewed. The WWC also provided the Improvement index for reading achievement (+23 percentile points) and English language development (+11 percentile points) based on the effect size. Each improvement index represents the positive difference between the percentile rank of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Public Education Trends seven to twenty points higher than public school students among three different age groups on standardized exams. Thus, the score gap among Catholic and public school students has widened ten points since 1978 (NCES 2012:43). Evidently, these statistics indicate that while public schools have made significant gains with racial and gender gaps over time, they continue to achieve at lower rates than private schools. In order to further analyze educational trends over time, I examined the percentage of students taking Algebra and Calculus as compared to the past. The data indicates that the percentage of thirteen year olds who are enrolled in Algebra has doubled since 1986 (NCES 2012:47). Additionally, thirteen year olds who elect to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 2015, the U.S. Department of Education announced that the overall graduation rate peaked at eight two percent during the 2013 2014 school year. (Kamenetz 2015:1). According to Arne Duncan, U.S. Secretary of Education, graduation rates have been steadily improving since a tracking system was adopted to monitor it. This rate can also be attributed to the fact that initial warning systems have been adopted to ensure that students remain on track to graduation. Additional diploma tracks have also been offered to protect graduation rates. This can also be paralleled to the fact that the high school dropout rate among those aged sixteen to twenty four has decreased from 10.9 percent in 2009 to 6.8 percent in 2013 (NCES 2015:4). Nonetheless, if more students are graduating from high school than in the past, it is important to examine where they are going afterward. In the fall of 2015, 20.2 million students enrolled in American colleges and universities. This data illustrates that there has been a 4.9 million increase in students attending American colleges and universities since 2000 (NCES 2015:5). Furthermore, 65.5 percent of students enrolled in a college or university immediately after graduating from high school in 2013. Thus, most students enrolled in public schools graduate and attend college, unlike in the past. These rates may be attributed to the fact that it is much more vital to possess a high school diploma and college degree than in the past, regardless of the state of public education. However, these rates still indicate the emergence of positive academic and social outcomes in public ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
