Wheelchair Stereotypes
Myth 1: Wheelchairs Summary: According to the article 6 Stereotypes of Disability from Disabled
We Stand, one of the misconceptions was, if you re in a wheelchair, that can mean either that you
re deaf, dumb and stupid, or that you re a goddess on wheels. People approach you when they
usually wouldn t approach anyone else. Furthermore, others are drawn to people in wheelchairs
because they automatically feel pity and interest in the difference in lifestyles. Rather than letting a
wheelchairdefine someone s character, personality, or life, perhaps getting to know the individual
would be a more accurate representation of who they are as a person. Example(s) Dispelling or

The fact that she was able to create easily accessible clothing for individuals with disabilities was
astounding and I was, frankly, blown away by her accomplishments. She was able to travel to
New York City to participate in fashion shows and had a little bit of difficulty when operating the
ramps, but as she said, she figured it out. She relied on an interpreter to explain to us what she was
saying, but as the interpreter said, she learned how to understand Delaina by repetition, as Delaina
would make certain shapes with her mouth when she would talk and the interpreter figured out how
to understand her over time. Delaina is the perfect example of an individual with a disability who
does not need help. She comes up with her own sketches, operates her own wheelchair, and can
type into her computer to let us know what she is thinking. Her brilliance was apparent when she
talked about how dedicated she was to her sketches and how she was honored to attend the
University of Florida. Instead of seeing Delaina as an individual who needs help opening the
door, or crossing the street, I saw her as a peer with much more amazing capabilities than myself.
She put into perspective fact that people who have disabilities are perfectly capable of managing
their own lives and doing it

Ethics Case Study Summary
Summary In this case study a view of ethics or social responsibility is presented. The case study
addresses what some applicants are willing to do in order to obtain the job being pursued or to
get ahead. A few applicants are willing to change or misrepresent a small fact on their
application or resume (Gomez Mejia, Balkin, Cardy, 2016). Some alterations are to conceal
information that is protected by law such as date of birth (Gomez Mejia, Balkin, Cardy, 2016).
Other times the alterations are made to make an applicant appear more qualified in order to obtain
a job being sought (Gomez Mejia, Balkin, Cardy, 2016). Reasoning for the alterations aside,
misrepresentations on resumes by applicants happens about 30% of the time (Gomez Mejia,
Balkin, Cardy, 2016). Resume/Job Application Fraud Misrepresentations, on resumes or
applications, no matter the size or issue are considered fraud. While at the time the applicant may
deem the actions harmless, the actions really are not. Fraud is a concern for any organization for
varying reasons. One... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Camisha Booker CA 156: Computerized Accounting 11 Partnership vs Sole Proprietorship
March 11, 2014Thinking about starting your own business? Do you prefer to work alone? Or do
you prefer to work with a partner? If you choose to work with a partner then the best business
structure for you would be the partnership structure. First you must ask yourself; do we have the
same vision or objectives on how to run the business? Are we able to communicate well with each
other? Most important question of all, do you trust this individual? If two of these three questions
is no then maybe the partnership structure isn t for you and you should set the business up as a sole

Having discretionary time, more contacts, support and motivation is a big plus when starting a
business. The right partnership has these qualities. When one needs time to spend with family
and friends or even just to get the most important things dealing with the business done, having a
partner is a good ideal because days or weeks can be rotated among the two. By bringing on a
partner, you acquire a new network of contacts and potential customers. If one partner was to
died or become physical impaired while in the partnership agreement the other partner can take
over the business completely or choose to sell the other partner s half of the business (Price,
2012). With sole proprietorship if the owner becomes impaired or dies the business can result in
termination because there is no one to take over the business (LaMance, 2013) If you are a team
player, I say go for the partnership, but talk things over with your potential partner before making
any decisions. Now if you choose to go in it alone with the sole proprietorship keep in mind that
some investors think businesses started under the sole proprietorship are less professional than any
other structure that consist of two or more people. Works Cited Partnership: Pros and Cons. (2014).

Present Themes In The First Day By Edward P. Jones
American actress and model, Kristen Stewart, once said, Judging a person does not define who
they are. It defines who you are. Kristen Stewart (A Z Quotes). People judge others every single
day. Silent eyes beat down on people and negative thoughts seeping into hearts. Everyone does it,
but some just are clueless about the impact. This judgmentis present in Edward P. JonesThe First
Day, where a little girl comes to realize that people are judging her and her mother for being who
they are, and determining what they are like based on their status. In Jones short story The First
Day, the present theme is that a person s status determines how a person is viewed, liked, and how
economically stable they are. This focus is present through the imagery of the little girl and the
characterization of the mother.
One way Jones shows the theme that a person s status determines how a person is viewed, liked,
and how economically stable they are, is through the imagery of the little girl. It is an African
American girl s first day of school, and the mother is getting her all dolled up to make a good
impression. I am wearing a checkeredlike blue and green cotton dress, and scattered about these
colors are bits of yellow and white and brown. My mother has uncharacteristically spent nearly an
hour on my hair that morning, plaiting and replaiting so that now my scalp tingles (Jones 1). The
mother really wants to make a good impression on the new school that her daughter is going to, and
not look poor or different. When saying that the mother has uncharacteristically done her hair, the
mother is going out of her way to do something special. The mother has spent an hour on this girl s
hair for her very first day of school, which is not like herself. Thus showing, that the mother really
cares about the first impression that the daughter makes at her new school and community, and how
they are viewed with their status. The mother is changing the image of her daughter to try and
better her off. Ultimately, through imagery, the highlighted theme is that people are judged based
on their statuses.
The mother in the story also proves that people are judging. Through the use of characterization by

The New World s Tempest

Dr. Frank Brevik
The New World s Tempest The Tempest is a Shakespearean play that takes play on a desert island
somewhere between Tunis and Naples. A hazardous storm appears impacting a ship of European
nobles and mariners; on board are Alonso, King of Naples, Gonzalo, Boatswain, Trinculo, Stefano,
Antonio, Sebastian, and Ferdinand. The nobles are leaving Tunis, Africa after the wedding of
Claribel, daughter of the King of Naples to the prince. Prospero, the former Duke of Milan uses his
sorcery to conjure the very storm that bombards the nobles in order to bring them to the island.
Frey interjects, In 1808, Edmond Malone argued that Shakespeare derived the title and some of
the play s incidents from accounts of a storm and shipwreck experienced by Sir Thomas Gates
and other Jamestown colonists on the Bermuda islands in 1609 (Frey 29).The play entails the
romance of Ferdinand, Alonso s son and Miranda, Prospero s daughter; while also detailing a
twelve year power struggle that is resurfacing itself in a treacherous plot for power. In comparison
to the New World s politics, The Tempestcan be read as a play that deals with these same political
issues: rebellion of constituted authorities, colonization of a new land, dehumanizing of the natives,
marriages and romances of royalty, masters and servants, Christian virtues, and visions of a utopia.
In the New World, there is a balance of power and a struggle to maintain this balance

Dave Barry Grandfather
Is it important to know the life lessons that your grandparents have learned. A grandfather named
Dave has a grandson that he wrote an important letter to. His grandsons name was Dylan. Dylan
was not old enough to read the letter yet, but Dave wrote it anyway. In the letter Dave wrote to
Dylan, Dave was telling Dylan about some of the things he has learned throughout his lifetime. He
started by telling dylan that just because everyone believes in one thing it does not make them all
correct. Dave Barry s short story Dave Barry teaches his grandson life s lessons beginning with the
ketchup is a high level comedy that uses wordplay and comic situations to convey the idea that
although everyone thinks one thing it does not mean that everyone is correct. In Dave Barry
teaches his grandson life s lessons beginning with the ketchup the author uses high comedy to write
a letter to his grandson. The author uses situations that would only be understood by people who
have been in the situations. Most of the people who have experienced these situations are people
such as teenagers and adults. In this letter, the grandfather is writing a letter about adult things to

situation to put into his letter. The author wanted to turn these situations into funny situations to

Essay On Spanish American Independence
Spanish America s thirst for Independence dates all the way back to the 16th century, following the
French revolution s success to abolish the monarchy. South America s desire to become independent
from Spain was ignited by the French revolution and the declaration of Independence of the United
States. South American Creoles (los criollos) of the upper class led the process of Independence
of the Spanish colonies. Many historians claim the wars of Independence were a creole affair and
throughout this essay many arguments will be addressed to justify their claims, a strong case in
their favour being the leader and liberator, SimГіn BolГvar, who drove the creoles and other ethnic
origins to their quest for autonomy.
To begin, the 18th century marks the proposal of the Bourbon reforms, a series of changes which
would jeopardise the relationship between the Spanish crown and its American colonies. The term
Bourbon reforms derives from King Philip V (b. 1700 1746) and his successors plan to change the
Spanish empire for the better. In order to do so, they set out to control all aspects of trade, politics
and economy. The colonial... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite it being a creole affair, it can be argued that other ethnic origins were opposed to the
association Spanish America had with Spain, for example creoles were within a minority however
the majority were mestizos, negroes and Indians. Under the Spanish Crown, they were succumbed
to racism and poverty, so their thirst for Independence came as no shock. SГmon BolГvar is a key
figure when discussing the wars of Spanish American Independence as he too was of pure
European decent, but as many historians point out he did not only support the creoles, but likewise
the masses of Spanish Americans. Thus, Independence from Spain was awarded to many colonies
between 1810 1825, which was mainly a creole affair, to an

Norovirus Essay
Each and everyday, millions of humans spread infection without realizing it. A simple handshake
and a nervous finger bite can lead in to something that can have great effect on your health.
Norovirus or acute gastroenteritis, commonly known as Norwalk virus, is one of the most common
sources of stomach infections. Norwalk is extremely contagious and can often be found in long
term care facilities. The viruscan be found in the stool and vomit of the infected person. To the
majority of the population, Norwalk is nothing more than the everyday stomach flu and is usually
cured without treatment. Although, there are exceptions to the young, the elderly, and people with

There are also typical signs of infectious agents such as fever, chills, fatigue, and body aches.
People who have contracted norovirus typically begin vomiting at the 24 48 hour mark but
symptoms may begin at the 12 hour mark. The virus usually lasts up to 72 hours. It is important to
keep your eye out for signs such as dizziness, decreased urination, and dry mouth as these are sign
of dehydration.
Since Norovirus is so easily spread, it is important for the CCA worker to take extra precautions
when the infection is in a long term care home or home support setting. As usual, the workers
should continue proper hand and body hygiene. This is the utmost important thing when
preventing the spread of infection. It is also important to take special care in the kitchen when
preparing the food for the clients when Norovirus is present in the facility as this is where the
virus is often spread. According to the Public Health Agency of Canada, People infected with a
norovirus can be contagious from the moment they start feeling ill to at least three days after they
have recovered. Some people may be contagious for as long as two weeks after recovery. . It is
important to keeping this in mind when preventing the spread of infection in a long term care
facility. (Public Health Agency of Canada, 2014) Keeping regular cleanliness habits like sanitizing
surfaces and using

The Profession Of Nurse And Nurse Migration
World Health Organisation [WHO] (2009) indicates the profession of nurse is a key component
and major contributor to the global healthcare workforce. However, nursing worldwide has
significant disparities, notably apparent between developed and developing countries. Although
there are signs of improvement, much needs to be done to globalise the standards of nursing.
There is a substantial difference in the profession of nurse in Australia compared to India and the
issues encountered (Charles et al., 2014). In modern society the social stigmata and issue of
equality in regard to the profession of nurse in India remains visibly evident (Nair, 2012). Exposure
to poor workplace conditions impact job satisfaction and fuel the problem of skilled nurse shortages
and nurse migration (Timmons, 2014). The importance of high quality education is challenging
when faced with below average resources and unqualified teaching faculty (Evans, Razia, Cook,
2013). With The growth of nursing in India is significantly hindered due to factors of social status,
equality and education. The nursing profession in India, one of the fastest growing professions,
continues to demonstrate negative stigmatic labelling (Nair, 2011). Although attitudes are
changing, the social status of nursing in India remains plagued with archaic perceptions coupled
with cultural beliefs that modern nursing is still trying to challenge and overcome. Nursing in India
is perceived as an inferior occupation,

Differences Between Private Sector And Voluntary Sector
1.Understand organisational structures
1.1Explain the differences between the private sector, public sector and voluntary sector
Private Sector
Businesses and industries that are not owned or controlled by the Government. Private Sector
organisations operate privately to make a profit with income generated from the sale of their
products or services. Although many private sector firms are owned and controlled by individuals,
many are owned by groups of people; for example, companies may be owned by shareholders, who
have invested in that company.
The Private Sector includes:
Sole trader an individual who owns and runs the business him or herself.

They are usually controlled by a directors or a management committee.
The Voluntary Sector is often referred to as the Third Sector or Not for Profit Sector. Whist they
do not exist to provide profit for shareholders, they need to generate income.
The Voluntary Sector includes:
Charities Oxfam, Red Cross, YMCA, Women s Royal Voluntary Service
Trusts Local Housing Associations
Local community organisations Neighbourhood Watch Schemes
Societies/Clubs Local sports clubs, Scouts, Guides
1.2Explain the functions of different organisational structures
Having the appropriate structure is vital for an organisation or business to meet its aims and
objectives. A business may be structured by:
Functions activities such as customer service, marketing, operations, finance or IT
Location where regional divisions of the business take responsibility for a specific function or
particular products, whether locally, nationally or internationally
Product or services where the business is divided into the particular products made or services
provided
All organisations have employees working at different levels of responsibility. At the bottom, a
business depends on its operatives to produce the products or services. Team leaders often perform
the day to day management role, with operational managers setting direction and strategy for the
business as a whole. The number of employees in each level will depend on the business

Examples Of Foreshadowing In The Interlopers
Techniques in The Interlopers The short story, The Interlopers by Saki, tells of Ulrich von
Gradwitz and Georg Znaeym, Two hunters who were destined to be enemies since `before they
were born. Three generations ago, the Gradwitz family won a strip of precipitous woodland in a
lawsuit against their neighbors, the Znaeym family. The Znaeym s, in return, have held a grudge
ever since. On a stormy winter night, Ulrich and his foresters are out on the land keeping watch
for thieves, when Ulrich comes face to face with Georg. Before either man has time to move, a
tree comes crashing down, both injuring and trapping them. At first both Ulrich and Georg claim
that their men will be the first to find them and when they do, the other will die. But as more time
passes, both find their hatred for each other decreasing and they decide to become friends. Sadly,
after this miraculous event, both Ulrich and Georg are killed by wolves. Throughout the story, Saki
uses irony, foreshadowing, and characterization to hold the reader s interest. Foreshadowing is used
when Ulrich and his men are out patrolling the woods, keeping watch for thieves. The roebuck,
which usually kept in the sheltered hollows during a storm wind, were running like driven things

Role Of Feudalism In Ancient Japan
Emperor The emperor of Japan was regarded as the spiritual and symbolic head of the country
and descended from the Gods. From 1185 onwards, however, the emperor had no real power and
his role was mainly ceremonial. He was still seen as the head of state and was expected to
officially give the shogun his title and right rule. The emperor lived in the imperial Palace in Kyoto.
Shogun The shogun was the emperor s leading general. Between 1185 and 1867, shoguns formed

They wore plain, dark clothes baring a clan crest so they could be easily identified. Male samurai
wore two swords denoting their warrior status. Female samurai would also train in martial arts such

Peasants Peasants were the largest single group in Japanese society, making up around 80% of the
population. Most peasants were farmer, but this group also included woodcutters, fishermen and in
workers. Unlike European peasants, peasants in Japan were given a higher rank than merchants and
craftspeople, because it was believed that they performed an essential and important role in society
that is, producing food on which everyone depended. Despite this higher status, peasants lived a
harsh lifestyle.
Craftspeople and Merchants Craftspeople were those who made goods and tools, including sword
smiths, printers, boat builders and carpenters. Craftspeople received less official respect than
peasants because, according to Confucian thought, people could love without the goods they made.
Merchants lived by trading and transporting goods, lending money and running shops. They were
given little respect because it was considered that they produced nothing useful themselves, only
profited from hard work of others. Merchants tended to live in the larger towns and cities and,
despite their low status, they could be very

different ways of enforcing these constraints.
e. Insert into DEPENDENT.
Answer: This operation is accepted and it can be successfully inserted.
g. Delete the EMPLOYEE tuple with Ssn = 987654321 .
Answer: This operation can t be used. Because Ssn has been used as a foreign key of WORKS_ON,
EMPLOYEE and DEPARTMENT relations ad deleting records with Ssn = 987654321 will leave no
corresponding entry for record in WORKS_ON relation. If we want to delete this data than we

h. Delete the PROJECT tuple with Pname = ProductX .
Answer: This operation can t be used. Because Pnumber has been used as a foreign key of

Consumer Education Curriculum Analysis
When starting out on this project, I was planning a module for District 95 s consumer education
course. The goal was to bring a blended learning or distance learning opportunity to the students
within the District. While planning and designing this module, many different aspects came up.
Who will be implementing this module, how long will it take the learners to get through the
module, how does this module compare to the face to face classroom, how will this module be
implemented, and what will be in place for a backup plan in case the technology component
fails. Throughout this paper we will be taking an in depth look at each of these aspects, in order
to give a clear picture of this module. Part A: The Who and How Based on Figure 1, we... Show

We could control the content of the course, knowing that it aligns with what our District s
objectives are, and most importantly keep FTE up. Thus, the beginning of planning the module. At
this point I, myself am going to be the one who will be doing them implementation, but if the
program takes off, I could end up training others in the Business Education Department on how to
instruct the course. Twelve Days That is correct, 12 days. The traditional summer sessions are
Monday through Thursdays, from 7:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with Fridays as a non attendance day.
When breaks are removed that is four hours of instructional time. The idea of distance learning
brought up a few areas of discontentment. The first came from the Business Education Department,
how to keep the validity of the unit tests. Even in the face to face classroom, I have seen students
take screenshots of the materials located on Canvas (our learning management software). This
reason alone, is why this module went from being a full distance learning course, to a blended
learning course. Blended learning courses incorporate both online and face to face activities, often
require more preparation time outside of the classroom for students than traditional face to face
courses (Margolis, Poter, Pitterle, 2017). Students will be expected to come into the building for the
unit tests after they have completed the online module with all the formative assessments. District

Willie Reed Racism
Thesis: The life of Willie Reed shows a different kind of truth within the Jim Crow South, the
determination of a man s soul, and his outright righteousness towards humanity. Reconstruction
defined oppression for Southern African Americans. Abolishing slavery resulted in backlash and
more intolerance to minorities. The South s image tarnished by the institution of slavery did not
alter the social confides of its representatives. African Americans gained freedom, however, their
livelihood did not change. Generations of African Americans, in the South, endured discrimination
as the white population obscured their progress. However, the popular narrative set by the elitist
whites would not endure without conflict. The life of Willie Reed shows a different kind of truth
within the Jim Crow South, the determination of a man s soul, and his righteousness towards
humanity. Paul Ortiz interviewed Mississippi native, Willie Reed, for a study on African Americans
living conditions during the Jim Crow South. Mr. Reed, a prominent African Americanman, gained
notary in Indianola, Mississippi as a self taught craftsman. His interview showcases a different light
in the culture of the Jim Crow South. A man with deep rooted religious convictions who did not
endure the typical intolerance of the white South. Mississippi portrays the typical footprint of
discrimination in the South. Once the staple of King Cotton , Mississippi embodies the accounts of
Civil Rights injustice.

Fxico Madero Pros And Cons
The country of Mexico won its independence from Spain in 1821 and over the coming decades
would see serious political strife while leaders fought for control of the country. In 1876 General
Porfirio Diaz seized control of the country and held power for the next thirty four years. Diaz was
a no nonsense sort of leader, who did not allow any opposition to his policies. Diaz promoted
investment into Mexicos natural resources from foreign companies and improved the wages of
many of his supporters, while at the same time ignoring the lower classes who saw their wages
shrink and their livelihood suffer.
Economic strife during the 1907 to 1909 years allowed for opposition parties to rise up to challenge
Diaz. One such leader was Francisco Madero, who campaigned across Mexico for democratic
elections in a bid to oust Diaz. Diaz responded to Madero s Presidential bid by having him and five
thousand of his supporters arrested. Madero escaped across the border in 1910 and called on the
citizens of Mexico to rise up and overthrow Diaz. Other leaders like Emiliano Zapata and Francisco

The Causes And Effects Of The Irish Potato Famine
Imagine if your main source of food was snatched away. Envision if you had to leave your home
and start a whole new life. The Irish had to do just this. The potato completely changed Ireland
when it was introduced to the country in the late 1500s. The nutritious food supported this
country in more ways than one. But disaster struck in the mid 1800s when the Potato Famine,
otherwise known as the Great Hunger, began, causing millions of Irish to emigrate from their
country and start new lives in America. Irish people experienced a huge change as they left their
homeland to escape the starvation and poverty caused by the Potato Famine; changing the lives
of the Irish and Americans forever. Before this devastating time, the Irish had a rich culture,
filled with folklore and ancient tradition. Most Irish were Catholic and spoke the Irish Gaelic
language. This was very different from English, the language that the immigrants would have to
adapt to in their new home. Also, before the Great Hunger, the potato was a staple in the diets of
all the Irish people. The article Irish Roots: The Potatoes Role in History Goes Far Beyond the
Famine by George Ball says, For the Irish tenant farmers, with barely an acre to cultivate, potatoes
produced larger and more reliable yields than grains. The typical Irish peasant ate from eight to 14
pounds of potatoes each day, providing 80 percent of caloric intake. The potato s broad adoption
transformed the Irish. Nearly the perfect

Antivirus programs and Internet security programs are useful in protecting a computer or
programmable device / system from malware.
Such programs are used to detect and usually eliminate viruses. Anti virus software can be
purchased or downloaded via the internet. Care should be taken in selecting anti virus software, as
some programs are not as effective as others in finding and eliminating viruses or malware. Also,
when downloading anti virus software from the Internet, one should be cautious as some websites
say they are providing protection from viruses with their software, but are really trying to install
malware on your computer by disguising it as something else.

Essay about Campaign Finance Reform
Campaign finance reform has a broad history in America. In particular, campaign finance has
developed extensively in the past forty years, as the courts have attempted to create federal
elections that best sustain the ideals of a representative democracy. In the most recent Supreme
Court decision concerning campaign finance, Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, the
Court essentially decided to treat corporations like individuals by allowing corporations to spend
money on federal elections through unlimited independent expenditures. In order to understand
how the Supreme Court justified this decision, however, the history of campaign finance in regards
to individuals must be examined. At the crux of these campaign finance laws... Show more content

Furthermore, these laws are particularly important because they deal with discussion of public
issues and debate on the qualifications of candidates. This sort of speech allows citizens to make
an informed decision about which candidate they will elect. This is crucial to the operation of the
government, for those who are elected will shape the nation in a profound way. As legal scholar
Alexander Meiklejohn argued when explaining the necessity of protecting political speech, self
governance can only exist insofar as the voters acquire the intelligence, integrity, sensitivity, and
generous devotion to the general welfare that, in theory, casting a ballot is assumed to express. For
these reasons, the ability to spend money on elections is essential to the First Amendment, as it
allows for the communication of ideas and opinions that are crucial to democracy. The need to
protect this first amendment right, however, is balanced against the need to avoid corruption in
federal elections. The Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 (FECA) attempted to revamp the
structure of campaign finance, particularly dealing with eliminate corrupt uses of campaign
contributions. Money in the form of a contribution can easily be seen as a bribe, or an attempt to
influence a candidate in the contributor s favor. FECA required

Comparing Asexual Vs. Response To Environment
What is life? A question that sounds simple, but in reality is more complex and could be answered
in multiple ways. The focus of this will be comparing asexual versus sexual reproduction. Also, the
evolution and adaptation versus response to environment. And lastly, but not any less important is
homeostasis. Sexual versus asexual reproductionboth have benefits and disadvantages. Asexual is
the development of a new organism forming from one parent. When an asexual organism has an
offspring their offspring has the same exact genetic material. If the parent were to have a disease
the child would automatically get the disease in their lifetime. An sexual organism has to mate to
form and offspring. Usually an sexual organism has to be a maleand female together to produce. To
produce a new organism the egg and sperm have to meet. The genetic material would be mixed

Evolution is the concept that one organism can grow into an adult and develop skills in their
environment. Adaptation is a feature that is common in a population. Adaptation can take in
different forms. Behavior of predators or temperatures that functions best. The form of an organism
has to adapt to a new lifestyle changing the way the may have been fated to evolve into. Both
adaptation and evolution have in common our an organism that grows mentally and physically or
the environment the species is in.
Homeostasis means in greek same and steady. Homeostasis a habit to want be stable equilibrium
of an organism. Homeostasis is needed for survival of all living organisms. For example humans
need to stay a temperature around 98 to keep the body temperature in this area it needs homeostasis
to stay stable. Sometimes the body is not stable for instance when the body runs a fever or gets the

Process Of A Bolus Of Food Entering And Exiting The Human...
Student Discussion Assignment
Trace and discuss the complete movement of a bolus of food entering and exiting the human via the
digestive system.
The process of digestion first begins in the mouth by in taking food (bolus). The teeth help with
masticating (chewing and breaking food particles down) allowing for swallowing and increasing
surface area for chemical digestion. Enzymes found in saliva also facilitates with the chemical break
down of food primarily starches and fats. The food swallowed then enters into the esophagus (a tube
connecting the mouth and stomach). Peristalsis helps the esophagus to push the food in the
direction of the stomach. The stomach contents are highly acidic (doesn t affect the stomach
mucosa since cells secrete mucus allowing the stomach wall to be protected) with pH levels
between 1.5 2.5 allowing microorganisms to be killed, breaking down of food, and activating
digestive enzymes producing a thick substance known as chyme. However, breaking down of foods
further occurs in the small intestine consisting of: bile created from the liver, enzymes formed from
the small intestine, and the pancreas facilitate with further digestion as well as HCI denatures
(unfolds proteins) allowing them to be available to attack by digestive enzymes (also responsible in
breaking down the protein). The pyloric sphincter separates the stomach from the small intestine
allowing the chime to drop into the small intestine. The small intestine is the primary site for

mainly on construction and early expenses, while cost much less in operation and maintenance.
8.1. Capital Cost This capital cost covers all initial costs, including exploration cost, drilling
cost, power plant construction cost, and gird connection cost [1]. 8.1.1 Exploration Cost The
exploration costs contains the costs of preliminary survey, permits, market analysis, exploration,
feasibility study, project planning, and other aspects. The exploration costs depend on the size
and accessibility of the geothermal site and availability of necessary tools and equipment. The
budget of exploration cost in our plan is $8 million. 8.1.2 Drilling Cost Drilling costs are one of
most important factors determining the costs of the project. In our plan, 10MW per well, thus we
need 9wells. Re injection wells are also required to re injection the cooled geothermal brine back
into the well field. We assumed the ratio of re injection wells to productions wells is 0.7:1. As a
result, we need 7 rejection wells. In addition, we need 2 wells for testing. We assume the cost of
drilling a well is $5 million, so the total of drilling cost will be $90 million. 8.1.3 Power Plant
Construction Cost The construction cost mainly contains the plant construction equipment costs,

Gustave Flaubert A Simple Heart Essay
Gustave Flaubert A Simple Heart
Gustave Flaubert s short story, A Simple Heart, is the narrative account of one woman s painfully
unrewarding life as a humble and blindly dedicated servant, Felicite. Throughout the story
chronicling her life, she suffers a series of heartbreaking losses, but continues to love
unconditionally nonetheless. A Simple Heart brings up themes of death and loss, and
unquestioning duty and responsibility. It also calls into question conventional religious belief,
through, among other things, Felicite s warship of the parrot, Lou Lou. Felicite represents each of
these themes partly in her own ignorance and simplicity and, as a result, it is seemingly difficult to
validate the authenticity of her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She has no control over the losses she endures; loss is inevitable. This idea of loss plays into
another theme within A Simple Heart that of unquestioning duty and responsibility. It is Felicite
s simplicity and, at times, her ignorance that allows her to so be so blindly devoted and caring.
She works faithfully for little pay, and remains incredibly loyal to Aubain s family. For example,
when she saves Aubaine and her children from a raging bull, she puts her own life in peril
without a second thought. She takes no pride in this act, and has not the barest suspicion that
she had done anything heroic (1023). She also displays this when she fails to see Virginie before
she dies because she feels so strongly about making sure the house is locked and secure before
she leaves to see her. Despite her pure heart, it seems that Felicite is never rewarded. This
challenges the value of such blind and unshakable devotion in such an unrewarding and oftentimes
cruel world. However, Flaubert s most significant idea presented in this story, one that is
intertwined with death and devotion, is his questioning of mystical belief. Felicite s religious
devotion seems arbitrary and indirect. Despite this, it also appears to be quite deep and meaningful
to her. The irony lies in the fact that she gains most, if not all, of her religious experience vicariously

The male cockroaches have cerci with 18 to 19 segments while the female has 13 to 14
segments. The male American cockroaches have a pair of styli between the cerci while the
females do not. The life cycle from egg to adult averages about 600 days; and the adult life span
may be another 400 days. Adult females will produce an average of 150 offspring in her lifetime.
Environmental factors such as temperature and humidity can increase or decrease the
developmental time of the American cockroach.
American cockroaches can become a health problem due to their association with human waste and
disease. At least 22 species of pathogenic human bacteria, virus, fungi, and protozoans, as well as
five species of helminthic worms, have been collected from American Cockroaches. Cockroaches
crawl through dirty areas and then walk around our homes bringing in lots of bacteria and germs.
They can contaminate food by shedding their skins and leaving their waste around, which can
trigger allergic reactions, asthma and other illnesses, especially in children. These pests can
contaminate food, causing food poisoning, dysentery, or diarrhea. They can create an unpleasant
smell in the home or building which they infest.
Some of the coolest things I ve learned about my insect: A cockroach can live almost a month
without food, about two weeks without water and one week without its head! Some female
cockroaches only mate once and stay pregnant for life!

Psychedelic music declines but bands such as Led Zepplin have created their own sound. The

bands in the future. In the 1970s FM radio starts to play rock music, car stereos become common

Reasons Behind Joining the Military Essay
There are a lot of graduates fresh out of high schools that make the decision to use the military.
There are some people that join the military because that is a fast and easy choice for them. The
military gives everyone a wide variety of options. College for instance, the military allows you to
serve your country and still have time to attend college and get a degree if you choose to do that.
People that choose to join the militaryget the option to go to college anytime they feel during their
military career. The military pays for part or all the tuition. The military has four different
branches, Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marines. Each branch offers different trades. Air Force for
example, teaches people to fly, have mechanical skills,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When people realize that they can travel the world with the military, and have many career options
to choose from, they realize that by joining military they would have the opportunity to travel the
world doing a job they love.
For some people that have a reason they do not want to go to college right out of high school is
because they may be tired of going school. When people look at the economy today, it is tough to
get a job that they would want to make a career of without some kind of college credits or even a
degree. That is one thing that the military can offer to anyone that does not necessarily want to take
that destination in their life. First, they will go to the branch of their choice and attend their boot
camp and learning the foundation of the basic knowledge recruits will need to know. Recruits then
go to a school, also called A school, but it is a lot faster than taking the time you would to go to
college. It is very similar to fast track classes they offer at college except you will go to school
for about a month, learning everything you will need to know about your selected job. Once the
recruits graduate from A School it is time for them to deploy to their first duty station and that is
where they begin their career. When the service members reach the end of their contract to the
military it is the members decision on whether or not they will extend that contract and continue
their work for the military, or end their military career and start back

The Gut Microbiome Of Giant Pandas
The giant pandas spend around 14 hours a day eating bamboo which usually doesn t digest very
well. Some of their unique features includes powerful jaw and a enlarge wrist bone that functions
as an opposable thumb to help them eat bamboos. But when a group of Chinese researchers tested
the gut microbiome of giant pandas by sequencing ribosomal RNA in their feces and comparing it
to other mammals like bears and lions. They are surprised of the results, that showed pandas are
lacking the plant digesting bacteria like Ruminococcaceae and Bacteroides which help properly
digest plants. Instead they carry a bacteria like Streptococcus and Escherichia/Shigella that can be
found mostly in carnivores. This would mean that giant pandas has not fully

Dr. Martin Luther King
Even though Martin Luther King Junior and Mahatma Gandhi both struggled, I think that the
charisma in them influenced social change, because of their tactics used, like non violence. Martin
Luther King Junior and Gandhi both functions as charismatic leaders and influenced others with
their fascinatingly positive attitudes. It was hard for them to get there message s and world view s
across but they remained strong and preserved through their struggles, no matter how tough things
got. Gandhi transmitted his message without resorting to violence and Martian Luther King Junior
learned from Gandhi and shows why non violence is key. Charismais the social energy that arches
between a leader and a community (Kripal 212). This definition of charisma is better for Martin
Luther King Junior. He showed so much charisma in his motivational speeches he gave to huge
crowds, some even memorable to this day. Max Weber incorporated both psychological and
sociological elements in his definition of charisma (Barnes 1). He defined charisma as a certain
quality of an individual s personality by virtue of which he is set apart from ordinary men and
treated as endowed with supernatural, superhuman, or at least specifically exceptional powers or
qualities (Barnes 1). Now I wouldn t say that either of these leaders are supernatural or superhuman,
but they do have exceptional qualities that they set the apart from the average individual. Some
examples of these qualities would be both had a

Goodfellas Analysis Essay
GoodFellas
Intro
At the beginning of the 1970s, two men, by the names of Martin Scorcese and Robert De Niro,
met and started an extremely successful and world renowned string of movie director/actor
collaborations. Over the course of 22 years, spawning from 1973, with their first film Mean
Streets, to 1995, with their most recent work Casino, the duo paired up for 8 movies, most of
which are considered some of the greatest films of all time. The most notable, however, would
have to be their 1990 movie Goodfellas, a classic film which was nominated for 6 oscars, winning
one, and named the greatest film of all time by British film magazine Total Film, an organized
crime movie which is one of my favorite movies.
Describe the story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The character becomes in conflict with himself when he meets and marries a girl by the name
of Karen Friedman, which makes him reconsider his life as a gangster. However, he realizes that
he is too deep into it and can not walk away. Despite this, for most of the film, he remains his
calm, composed and likeable self, as he is shown as the only sane person of the crew. The
catalyst to his character change is drugs. Once he starts dealing and using heroine and cocaine, he
immediately becomes a jumpy and paranoid man, who is unable to keep his cool. His drug
activities and incarceration lose him the respect of Jimmy Conway and made man Paul Cicero, who
he becomes in conflict with, which makes him a marked man.
Setting
The film starts out in a predominantly Italian American neighbourhood in Brooklyn, New York in
the mid 1950s. The values that were held the highest at that time in place were family and money.
The film s other major setting is John F Kennedy Airport, which is the scene of many of the
hijackings and robberies that occur in the movie.
Themes
The two major themes in this movie is friendship and greed, and the two themes often come in
conflict with each other. The mafia is made up of a very select few individuals, who are together
all the time and don t affiliate with outsiders. This makes them grow strong bonds and develop
friendships with each other. According to Jimmy Conway, the two most important things to
remember is to never rat on your friends,

A Brief Note On The Second World War
Project HERS
The Second World War began four years ago, with Adolf Hitler s Holocaust starting but two
years into it. Under his regime, anti Semitism was and still is the law no man, woman, and child
of lesser Aryan blood can live, and his reasons for the persecution of such people are still widely
debated. However, there is a possible solution: Sigmund Freud and his theories. One of his theories
suggests a division of the human psyche into three parts: the superego, ego, and id. These Freudian
terms and their functions form the basis of the project HERS.
To understand HERS, you must be acquainted with a condition linked directly to it, Dissociative
Identity Disorder. DID is present and latent in every individual from the day they are ... Show more

To make a moot point, it is even debatable whether HERS is a hereditary condition or not.
The only other explanation for Hitler s reasons behind the Holocaust, other than the stab in the
back myth , is that he is a HERS acting under the influence of his id. Where there is dislike and
revulsion, the id fans the flames into those of hatred. Where there is pride, the id makes it
unquenchable and unreasonable. To win this war, the Allies need to break one of the links in the
Axis military alliance Germany and its dictator, Adolf Hitler.
Dr. Foothills Freed, Allies Scientist
November 3, 1943
All that was planned came to fruition today. The village of Imber on the Salisbury Plain was
evacuated yesterday to be used as a training site for the British. The children, still in their seats
when the evacuation was conducted, were swept away to Palmyra Atoll as planned. All of the
inhabitants had been evacuated a year ago due to the war, and any traces of civilization were
easily erased. It was the ideal setting for Project HERS, in not only its isolative setting, but the
surroundings. With some coconut palm trees and a drift of pigs as sustenance, the boys would be
forced to be conservative in their use of their environment.
The eighteen boys chosen had latent DID switches from what was observed so far through their
profiles. However, there were three possible methods in which the DID switch could be awakened.
Possible stimulants were: punishment,

Tall Building In The 19th Century
There were two main factors that discouraged tall building throughout most of the 19th century:
safe reliable elevators and building material limitations. During most of this time period,
elevators were powered by steam and used primarily for transporting materials up and down
inside a structure. Similar to technology today, elevators were raised and lowered using cables.
The problem was, there were no safety devices in place in the event that a cable broke which led
to the elevator falling all the way to the bottom. For this reason, no people were allowed to ride
elevators and thus had to climb the structure everyday using ladders and stairs. In 1853, an
inventor named Elisha Otis developed a safety device that would prevent the elevator from falling
should a cable break. This device then allowed people to begin... Show more content on

Building materials available throughout most of the 19th century was another limiting factor when
it came to constructing tall buildings. The most widely used building materials during this time
period were masonry and rock. These materials were used together to construct load bearing walls,
forming the support system for the structure. Two cities that emerged as key players in the
development of tall building were Chicago and New York City. As these cities began to run out of
room to expand, the only option was to grow upward. The biggest problem became when adding
stories on top of stories, the lower walls would have to be built considerably thicker to support the
weight of the floors above. At some point, this building technique became impractical because the
lower walls would become so thick that there was no longer room to inhabit the space thus
defeating the purpose. With the improving manufacturing processes of the time, it soon became
apparent that incorporating steel into the structure of a building would cut down on the overall
weight of the structure without sacrificing strength. Over time,

Multicultural Competency Definition
Hence, in order to tackle these multicultural issues, APA published its Guidelines on Multicultural
Education, Training, Research, Practice, and Organizational Change for Psychologists in August
2002. This was a pivotal point in history, as APA itself published its own guidelines as a way to
acknowledge the need to address racial and cultural issues within the field of psychology. The
documents reviews immense number of research studies conducted on multicultural competence to
emphasize the importance and effectiveness of integrating multiculturalism and diversity into the
work of psychologists, especially when working with those clients from minority backgrounds. It is
noted that it is essential for psychologists to gain self awareness into... Show more content on

Sue (1997) reinforced this idea by saying that multicultural psychology is a general concept that
refers to a study of interactions of social constructs within an individual. On the other hand, few
psychologists have raised a concern on this argument saying that because race and culture are such
broad concepts to begin with, adding more variables to the equation could make things worse (Hall
Barongan, 2002; Paniagua Yamada, 2013). Similarly, most of the multicultural research that has
been published up to date focus on issues regarding race and culture (Essandoh, 1996; Marsella,

  • 2. Wheelchair Stereotypes Myth 1: Wheelchairs Summary: According to the article 6 Stereotypes of Disability from Disabled We Stand, one of the misconceptions was, if you re in a wheelchair, that can mean either that you re deaf, dumb and stupid, or that you re a goddess on wheels. The case study addresses what some applicants are willing to do in order to obtain the job being pursued or to get ahead. A few applicants are willing to change or misrepresent a small fact on their application or resume (Gomez Mejia, Balkin, Cardy, 2016). Some alterations are to conceal information that is protected by law such as date of birth (Gomez Mejia, Balkin, Cardy, 2016). Other times the alterations are made to make an applicant appear more qualified in order to obtain a job being sought (Gomez Mejia, Balkin, Cardy, 2016). Reasoning for the alterations aside, misrepresentations on resumes by applicants happens about 30% of the time (Gomez Mejia, Balkin, Cardy, 2016). First you must ask yourself; do we have the same vision or objectives on how to run the business? Are we able to communicate well with each other? The right partnership has these qualities. When one needs time to spend with family and friends or even just to get the most important things dealing with the business done, having a partner is a good ideal because days or weeks can be rotated among the two. By bringing on a partner, you acquire a new network of contacts and potential customers. If one partner was to died or become physical impaired while in the partnership agreement the other partner can take over the business completely or choose to sell the other partner s half of the business (Price, 2012). With sole proprietorship if the owner becomes impaired or dies the business can result in termination because there is no one to take over the business (LaMance, 2013) If you are a team player, I say go for the partnership, but talk things over with your potential partner before making any decisions. • 5. Present Themes In The First Day By Edward P. Jones American actress and model, Kristen Stewart, once said, Judging a person does not define who they are. It defines who you are. Kristen Stewart (A Z Quotes). People judge others every single day. Silent eyes beat down on people and negative thoughts seeping into hearts. Everyone does it, but some just are clueless about the impact. This judgmentis present in Edward P. JonesThe First Day, where a little girl comes to realize that people are judging her and her mother for being who they are, and determining what they are like based on their status. In Jones short story The First Day, the present theme is that a person s status determines how a person is viewed, liked, and how economically stable they are. This focus is present through the imagery of the little girl and the characterization of the mother. One way Jones shows the theme that a person s status determines how a person is viewed, liked, and how economically stable they are, is through the imagery of the little girl. It is an African American girl s first day of school, and the mother is getting her all dolled up to make a good impression. I am wearing a checkeredlike blue and green cotton dress, and scattered about these colors are bits of yellow and white and brown. My mother has uncharacteristically spent nearly an hour on my hair that morning, plaiting and replaiting so that now my scalp tingles (Jones 1). The mother really wants to make a good impression on the new school that her daughter is going to, and not look poor or different. When saying that the mother has uncharacteristically done her hair, the mother is going out of her way to do something special. The mother has spent an hour on this girl s hair for her very first day of school, which is not like herself. Thus showing, that the mother really cares about the first impression that the daughter makes at her new school and community, and how they are viewed with their status. The mother is changing the image of her daughter to try and better her off. Ultimately, through imagery, the highlighted theme is that people are judged based on their statuses. The mother in the story also proves that people are judging. Through the use of characterization by Edward P Jones The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The New World s Tempest Derek Simmons July 22, 2015 ENGL 4011 Dr. Frank Brevik The New World s Tempest The Tempest is a Shakespearean play that takes play on a desert island somewhere between Tunis and Naples. A hazardous storm appears impacting a ship of European nobles and mariners; on board are Alonso, King of Naples, Gonzalo, Boatswain, Trinculo, Stefano, Antonio, Sebastian, and Ferdinand. The nobles are leaving Tunis, Africa after the wedding of Claribel, daughter of the King of Naples to the prince. Prospero, the former Duke of Milan uses his sorcery to conjure the very storm that bombards the nobles in order to bring them to the island. Frey interjects, In 1808, Edmond Malone argued that Shakespeare derived the title and some of the play s incidents from accounts of a storm and shipwreck experienced by Sir Thomas Gates and other Jamestown colonists on the Bermuda islands in 1609 (Frey 29).The play entails the romance of Ferdinand, Alonso s son and Miranda, Prospero s daughter; while also detailing a twelve year power struggle that is resurfacing itself in a treacherous plot for power. In comparison to the New World s politics, The Tempestcan be read as a play that deals with these same political issues: rebellion of constituted authorities, colonization of a new land, dehumanizing of the natives, marriages and romances of royalty, masters and servants, Christian virtues, and visions of a utopia. South America s desire to become independent from Spain was ignited by the French revolution and the declaration of Independence of the United States. South American Creoles (los criollos) of the upper class led the process of Independence of the Spanish colonies. Many historians claim the wars of Independence were a creole affair and throughout this essay many arguments will be addressed to justify their claims, a strong case in their favour being the leader and liberator, SimГіn BolГvar, who drove the creoles and other ethnic origins to their quest for autonomy. To begin, the 18th century marks the proposal of the Bourbon reforms, a series of changes which would jeopardise the relationship between the Spanish crown and its American colonies. Diaz promoted investment into Mexicos natural resources from foreign companies and improved the wages of many of his supporters, while at the same time ignoring the lower classes who saw their wages shrink and their livelihood suffer. Economic strife during the 1907 to 1909 years allowed for opposition parties to rise up to challenge Diaz. One such leader was Francisco Madero, who campaigned across Mexico for democratic elections in a bid to oust Diaz. Diaz responded to Madero s Presidential bid by having him and five thousand of his supporters arrested. The Irish had to do just this. The potato completely changed Ireland when it was introduced to the country in the late 1500s. The nutritious food supported this country in more ways than one. But disaster struck in the mid 1800s when the Potato Famine, otherwise known as the Great Hunger, began, causing millions of Irish to emigrate from their country and start new lives in America. Irish people experienced a huge change as they left their homeland to escape the starvation and poverty caused by the Potato Famine; changing the lives of the Irish and Americans forever. Before this devastating time, the Irish had a rich culture, filled with folklore and ancient tradition. Most Irish were Catholic and spoke the Irish Gaelic language. This was very different from English, the language that the immigrants would have to adapt to in their new home. Also, before the Great Hunger, the potato was a staple in the diets of all the Irish people. The article Irish Roots: The Potatoes Role in History Goes Far Beyond the Famine by George Ball says, For the Irish tenant farmers, with barely an acre to cultivate, potatoes produced larger and more reliable yields than grains. The typical Irish peasant ate from eight to 14 pounds of potatoes each day, providing 80 percent of caloric intake. The potato s broad adoption transformed the Irish. Nearly the perfect ... • 24. Essay about Campaign Finance Reform Campaign finance reform has a broad history in America. In particular, campaign finance has developed extensively in the past forty years, as the courts have attempted to create federal elections that best sustain the ideals of a representative democracy. In the most recent Supreme Court decision concerning campaign finance, Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, the Court essentially decided to treat corporations like individuals by allowing corporations to spend money on federal elections through unlimited independent expenditures. In order to understand how the Supreme Court justified this decision, however, the history of campaign finance in regards to individuals must be examined. This sort of speech allows citizens to make an informed decision about which candidate they will elect. This is crucial to the operation of the government, for those who are elected will shape the nation in a profound way. As legal scholar Alexander Meiklejohn argued when explaining the necessity of protecting political speech, self governance can only exist insofar as the voters acquire the intelligence, integrity, sensitivity, and generous devotion to the general welfare that, in theory, casting a ballot is assumed to express. For these reasons, the ability to spend money on elections is essential to the First Amendment, as it allows for the communication of ideas and opinions that are crucial to democracy. The need to protect this first amendment right, however, is balanced against the need to avoid corruption in federal elections. The Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 (FECA) attempted to revamp the structure of campaign finance, particularly dealing with eliminate corrupt uses of campaign contributions. The focus of this will be comparing asexual versus sexual reproduction. Also, the evolution and adaptation versus response to environment. And lastly, but not any less important is homeostasis. Sexual versus asexual reproductionboth have benefits and disadvantages. Asexual is the development of a new organism forming from one parent. When an asexual organism has an offspring their offspring has the same exact genetic material. If the parent were to have a disease the child would automatically get the disease in their lifetime. Student Discussion Assignment Trace and discuss the complete movement of a bolus of food entering and exiting the human via the digestive system. The process of digestion first begins in the mouth by in taking food (bolus). The teeth help with masticating (chewing and breaking food particles down) allowing for swallowing and increasing surface area for chemical digestion. Enzymes found in saliva also facilitates with the chemical break down of food primarily starches and fats. The food swallowed then enters into the esophagus (a tube connecting the mouth and stomach). Peristalsis helps the esophagus to push the food in the direction of the stomach. The stomach contents are highly acidic (doesn t affect the stomach mucosa since cells secrete mucus allowing the stomach wall to be protected) with pH levels between 1.5 2.5 allowing microorganisms to be killed, breaking down of food, and activating digestive enzymes producing a thick substance known as chyme. Throughout the story chronicling her life, she suffers a series of heartbreaking losses, but continues to love unconditionally nonetheless. A Simple Heart brings up themes of death and loss, and unquestioning duty and responsibility. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She has no control over the losses she endures; loss is inevitable. This idea of loss plays into another theme within A Simple Heart that of unquestioning duty and responsibility. It is Felicite s simplicity and, at times, her ignorance that allows her to so be so blindly devoted and caring. She works faithfully for little pay, and remains incredibly loyal to Aubain s family. For example, when she saves Aubaine and her children from a raging bull, she puts her own life in peril without a second thought. She takes no pride in this act, and has not the barest suspicion that she had done anything heroic (1023). She also displays this when she fails to see Virginie before she dies because she feels so strongly about making sure the house is locked and secure before she leaves to see her. Despite her pure heart, it seems that Felicite is never rewarded. This challenges the value of such blind and unshakable devotion in such an unrewarding and oftentimes cruel world. However, Flaubert s most significant idea presented in this story, one that is intertwined with death and devotion, is his questioning of mystical belief. Felicite s religious devotion seems arbitrary and indirect. Despite this, it also appears to be quite deep and meaningful to her. The irony lies in the fact that she gains most, if not all, of her religious experience vicariously ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He defined charisma as a certain quality of an individual s personality by virtue of which he is set apart from ordinary men and treated as endowed with supernatural, superhuman, or at least specifically exceptional powers or qualities (Barnes 1). Now I wouldn t say that either of these leaders are supernatural or superhuman, but they do have exceptional qualities that they set the apart from the average individual. Some examples of these qualities would be both had a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Goodfellas Analysis Essay GoodFellas Intro At the beginning of the 1970s, two men, by the names of Martin Scorcese and Robert De Niro, met and started an extremely successful and world renowned string of movie director/actor collaborations. Over the course of 22 years, spawning from 1973, with their first film Mean Streets, to 1995, with their most recent work Casino, the duo paired up for 8 movies, most of which are considered some of the greatest films of all time. The most notable, however, would have to be their 1990 movie Goodfellas, a classic film which was nominated for 6 oscars, winning one, and named the greatest film of all time by British film magazine Total Film, an organized crime movie which is one of my favorite movies. Describe the story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The character becomes in conflict with himself when he meets and marries a girl by the name of Karen Friedman, which makes him reconsider his life as a gangster. However, he realizes that he is too deep into it and can not walk away. Despite this, for most of the film, he remains his calm, composed and likeable self, as he is shown as the only sane person of the crew. The catalyst to his character change is drugs. Once he starts dealing and using heroine and cocaine, he immediately becomes a jumpy and paranoid man, who is unable to keep his cool. His drug activities and incarceration lose him the respect of Jimmy Conway and made man Paul Cicero, who he becomes in conflict with, which makes him a marked man. Setting The film starts out in a predominantly Italian American neighbourhood in Brooklyn, New York in the mid 1950s. The values that were held the highest at that time in place were family and money. The film s other major setting is John F Kennedy Airport, which is the scene of many of the hijackings and robberies that occur in the movie. Themes The two major themes in this movie is friendship and greed, and the two themes often come in conflict with each other. The mafia is made up of a very select few individuals, who are together all the time and don t affiliate with outsiders. This makes them grow strong bonds and develop friendships with each other. According to Jimmy Conway, the two most important things to remember is to never rat on your friends, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. A Brief Note On The Second World War Project HERS The Second World War began four years ago, with Adolf Hitler s Holocaust starting but two years into it. Under his regime, anti Semitism was and still is the law no man, woman, and child of lesser Aryan blood can live, and his reasons for the persecution of such people are still widely debated. However, there is a possible solution: Sigmund Freud and his theories. One of his theories suggests a division of the human psyche into three parts: the superego, ego, and id. These Freudian terms and their functions form the basis of the project HERS. To understand HERS, you must be acquainted with a condition linked directly to it, Dissociative Identity Disorder. DID is present and latent in every individual from the day they are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To make a moot point, it is even debatable whether HERS is a hereditary condition or not. The only other explanation for Hitler s reasons behind the Holocaust, other than the stab in the back myth , is that he is a HERS acting under the influence of his id. Where there is dislike and revulsion, the id fans the flames into those of hatred. Where there is pride, the id makes it unquenchable and unreasonable. To win this war, the Allies need to break one of the links in the Axis military alliance Germany and its dictator, Adolf Hitler. Dr. Foothills Freed, Allies Scientist November 3, 1943 All that was planned came to fruition today. The village of Imber on the Salisbury Plain was evacuated yesterday to be used as a training site for the British. The children, still in their seats when the evacuation was conducted, were swept away to Palmyra Atoll as planned. All of the inhabitants had been evacuated a year ago due to the war, and any traces of civilization were easily erased. It was the ideal setting for Project HERS, in not only its isolative setting, but the surroundings. With some coconut palm trees and a drift of pigs as sustenance, the boys would be forced to be conservative in their use of their environment. The eighteen boys chosen had latent DID switches from what was observed so far through their profiles. However, there were three possible methods in which the DID switch could be awakened. Possible stimulants were: punishment, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Tall Building In The 19th Century There were two main factors that discouraged tall building throughout most of the 19th century: safe reliable elevators and building material limitations. During most of this time period, elevators were powered by steam and used primarily for transporting materials up and down inside a structure. Similar to technology today, elevators were raised and lowered using cables. The problem was, there were no safety devices in place in the event that a cable broke which led to the elevator falling all the way to the bottom. For this reason, no people were allowed to ride elevators and thus had to climb the structure everyday using ladders and stairs. In 1853, an inventor named Elisha Otis developed a safety device that would prevent the elevator from falling should a cable break. This device then allowed people to begin... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (1) Building materials available throughout most of the 19th century was another limiting factor when it came to constructing tall buildings. The most widely used building materials during this time period were masonry and rock. These materials were used together to construct load bearing walls, forming the support system for the structure. Two cities that emerged as key players in the development of tall building were Chicago and New York City. As these cities began to run out of room to expand, the only option was to grow upward. The biggest problem became when adding stories on top of stories, the lower walls would have to be built considerably thicker to support the weight of the floors above. At some point, this building technique became impractical because the lower walls would become so thick that there was no longer room to inhabit the space thus defeating the purpose. With the improving manufacturing processes of the time, it soon became apparent that incorporating steel into the structure of a building would cut down on the overall weight of the structure without sacrificing strength. Multicultural Competency Definition Hence, in order to tackle these multicultural issues, APA published its Guidelines on Multicultural Education, Training, Research, Practice, and Organizational Change for Psychologists in August 2002. This was a pivotal point in history, as APA itself published its own guidelines as a way to acknowledge the need to address racial and cultural issues within the field of psychology. The documents reviews immense number of research studies conducted on multicultural competence to emphasize the importance and effectiveness of integrating multiculturalism and diversity into the work of psychologists, especially when working with those clients from minority backgrounds. Sue (1997) reinforced this idea by saying that multicultural psychology is a general concept that refers to a study of interactions of social constructs within an individual. On the other hand, few psychologists have raised a concern on this argument saying that because race and culture are such broad concepts to begin with, adding more variables to the equation could make things worse (Hall Barongan, 2002; Paniagua Yamada, 2013). Similarly, most of the multicultural research that has been published up to date focus on issues regarding race and culture (Essandoh, 1996; Marsella, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
