Robert Ader Biography Essay
Robert Ader was born in the Bronx on 20 February 1932, the elder of Nathan and Mae Ader s two
sons. He attended the Horace Mann School in the Bronx, and in 1949 entered Tulane University, from
which he graduated in 1953 with a B.S. in psychology. Immediately entering the graduate program at
Cornell University, Ader earned a Ph.D. in psychology in 1957. That same year he was hired as a part
time instructor in the Dept. of Psychology at the University of Rochester, and part time instructor in
the Dept. of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester School of Medicine Dentistry. Both John
Romano, M.D., the chairman of Psychiatry, and George L. Engel, M.D., an internist focused on
psychosomatic medicine, were interested in adding to the faculty an experimental psychologist who
could conduct psychobiological ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A pioneer in a field of study that was initially greeted with scepticism, Ader s collaboration with such
figures as Nicholas Cohen and Jan Moynihan, their meticulous research, and cogent arguments were
central to establishing the nervous system s influence on the immune system. Ader authored or co
authored more than two hundred journal articles and book chapters, founded and edited for many
years the periodical Brain, behavior and immunity, and served on the editorial boards of half a dozen
other psychobiology and behavioral journals. He was elected president of the American
Psychosomatic Society (1979 80), president of the International Society for Developmental
Psychobiology (1981 82), president of the Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research (1984 85), and
president of the Psychoneuroimmunology Research Society (1993), of which he was also a founder.
Robert Ader retired in July 2011 and died in Pittsford, N.Y., a suburb of Rochester, on 20 December
2011. He was married to Gayle Simon, of Rochester, N.Y., on 2 June 1957. They raised four

Essay On Cheating Infraction
On April 11, 2017, a report was filed through the Honor Code indicating my involvement in a cheating
infraction. I was participating in Charlie Nuttelman s class recitation where we must take five online
quizzes to account for a final grade. The course and quizzes are completely online, excluding the
prompt the teaching assistant gives out prior to the quiz. The prompt includes a series of codes and
questions, in addition to a few rules students must abide by during the exam. These rules include, but
are not limited to, the restriction of cheating, cell phone use, plagiarism, and resubmission.
On the day of my cheating infraction, I was particularly overstressed and anxious. By that time late in
the semester, the pressure of final grades ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have truly learned a lot about myself, morality and ethics, and the importance of integrity as a result
of this incident. This was a one time incident that occurred due to laziness and lack of respect I had for
myself, my abilities, and for the class. This will never occur again and I have truly learned my lesson.
Consequently, I have changed my behavior. I now believe in the importance of studying rather than
winging it, honoring myself and my class rather than getting by, and learning the material for the sake
of knowledge rather than to just pass it.
The Honor Code policies at various public universities hold striking similarities, and obvious
differences, to the policies set in place at the University of Colorado Boulder. To commence, the
Honor Code pledge at Colorado State University mirrors CU s pledge almost precisely: I have not
given, received, or used any unauthorized assistance (Colorado State University). However, the ways
in which CSU deals with academic misconduct vary drastically from CU s means of chastising
students. In my experience with the cheating infraction, my TA, Mona Bdewi, did not address or warn
me before going straight to Professor Nuttelman. He, then, reported me directly to the Honor Code
without giving me the chance to explain my side. Neither the TA, nor my Professor, allowed me the
opportunity to explain my side. When I heard of the

Carry On College Campuses
When pondering guns we tend to think whether the Second Amendment, the right to bear arms, would
be taken away. Whether or not to allow concealed weapons on college campuses has been a debated
topic for many years. Whether we should allow conceal and carry on campuses seems like a hard
debate for many reasons, one such as whether it would be safe to allow college students to be armed
with weapons. Several colleges lately have been allowing conceal and carry on their college
campuses. Conceal and carry used to be a topic that not many people thought would come up when
talking about colleges and where to go. The recent shootings have sparked a debate over whether to
allow conceal and carry on college campuses. Like many people who are about to ... Show more

In order for students to be successful in college, they must be responsible. John McNay once said,
There is an assumption that if these people are licensed to carry guns then they will act responsibility
and wise with the weapons. But we license people to drive cars, too, and we see people driving
foolishly and carelessly all the time (McNay). This states that there seems to be not much trust in the
college students and that they will probably not act as responsible as they should with a deadly
weapon in their possession. If the students are trusted to carry a gun, then they should be responsible
with that gun in hand. Other factors also come into play when considering whether students should be
allowed to carry guns, such as drugs or alcohol could play a role in how students act. Vore once said,
A lot of folks think they re just going to carry a gun ... and just going to pop their head up and confront
the shooter and shoot them (Hulsey). People who have guns often feel like they are strong and are
invincible. They often act like they can confront the person when they can t always do that. It isn t safe
because the student could easily be shot by the shooter. Shooters are more likely to shoot someone
who has a gun than someone who doesn t, so students are just putting themselves in more danger if
they have a gun in hand. Students need to be more responsible in knowing when the right time would
be to take

Registered Retirement Savings Plan
Taxation Assignment
Registered Retirement Savings Plan
(RRSP)

What is an RRSP?
A Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) is a tax deferred account designed specifically for
retirement savings. Any resident of Canada under the age of 71 who has earned income may establish
and contribute to an RRSP. (Edward Jones, 2013)
RRSPs are the Canadian government s way of helping citizens save their money for retirement.
Saving for 30 to 40 years of retirement may seem like a long task, but well planned contributions and
withdrawals from your RRSP can be a great way to get enough money for when you retire.
Objective
The objective of a RRSP is to provide individuals with an account which they may ... Show more

The maximum you can take out in one year is $10,000. You won t pay any tax on it as long as you pay
it back over 10 years. This does not include paying for a child s education.
My conclusion is that RRSPs benefit Canadians by reducing their taxes and allowing their savings to
compound tax free. Individual RRSP s are the most common type of RRSP s. RRSP contributions are
deducted from earned income before it is taxed, so the money that you put into an RRSP is not taxed
until it is withdrawn. Taking money out of an RRSP account before retirement can be very expensive
because withholding taxes often apply. The RRSP Home Buyer s Plan allows contributors to borrow
RRSP funds to finance the purchase of a home. Also that it would be the best to start making
contributions early to avoid early withdrawals.

On December 25, 2013, people worldwide were enjoying Christmas with loved ones. However in
Meliandou, Guinea, the picture was bleak for a one year old boy named Emile and his family (1).
Emile had begun shivering, so his concerned parents checked his temperature where they discovered
Emile had a fever. They did what any parent would do with a child running a fever; they tried to get
the fever down and gave Emile some soup. Despite their best efforts, the fever worsened and would

The high mortality rate associated with this disease is largely due to the lack of effective preventive
vaccines or therapeutic drugs. Despite that the fact that the virus was first discovered in 1976, very
little research into developing a vaccine or a treatment to aid in recovery from Ebola has occurred
since its discovery (3). Due to the most recent Ebola outbreak in western Africa, researchers are
finally tackling the obstacle of finding a cure to ebolavirus. As a result of this, an urgent question that
needs to be addressed is why no one has dedicated his or her focus on researching an Ebola vaccine or
treatment until the current outbreak. However, there is no single answer to this question. The lack of
research and an Ebola vaccine and/or therapeutic drug is the direct effect of the political, social, and
ethical injustices that have plagued Africans for numerous decades. This research plans to address
these various injustices that have been committed by pharmaceutical companies and the world on the
citizens of Africa as well shed light on the virus, its history, and the current vaccine production

New Place Research Paper
New Place
Going to a new place was my great experience for learning coping skills, for developing self
discipline, and making friends. When I was about nine years old, I was a troubled boy. As a fourth
grader, I went to an elementary school in my small village. However, I grew up without supervision
because my father, as a soldier, was often deployed far away from home. After school times, I hung
around with other undisciplined boys in our neighborhood, and was influenced by neighbor boys
misbehaviors. I ran into mischief. Fortunately, my mother believed in Catholic schools. She saved my
life by sending me to a providing Catholic Church school, very far from home, in Thuduc city,
Vietnam for my education.
Notre Dame was a gorgeous school where I probably started to develop my coping skills in my
childhood. As I am trying to visualize my experience living in a room and board Notre Dame Church

Everyday, I practiced the rules of self discipline to take charge of my learning. For example, while
doing my math problem sets, I wouldn t let myself check the math answers until I completed all my
math exercises. Eventually, these practices became an ingrained habit. As a reward of my self
discipline, my math skills improved greatly, and I earned good grades. In addition, Striving for
Excellence guided me to overcome learning obstacles at Notre Dame School with a great learning
environment, separated from the world outside. During school years, my friends and I challenged
ourselves and competed amongst each other in order to excel. On class projects that required
teamwork, we cooperated and needed each other. When playing sports, we trained and pushed
ourselves hard, and we tried to keep sportsmanship. Finally, renovating my behaviors with a strict
discipline, Notre Dame changed my life totally, as I have grown up both physically and mentally with

The Rule Of Law And The Law Of The Land
This was a fun topic to research. I had a rough time determining if I should define the RULE of LAW
or look at its history and how it was developed through our constitution to the laws that govern us
today. After all the supremacy clause in our Constitution says This Constitution, and the Laws of the
United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be
made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land. After going to
many websites researching a definition that I could use to start I quickly discovered that the RULE OF
LAW meant something different to each of the authors of the websites and while they were all
meaningful none of them encompassed what I predetermined it should be until I reached the one
definition that really jumped out at me is: Rule of law refers to an end state in which all individuals
and institutions, public and private, and the state itself are held accountable to the law, which is
supreme. Laws must be consistent with international human rights norms and standards, legally
certain, legally transparent, drafted with procedural transparency, and publicly promulgated. This end
state requires equal enforcement and equality before the law, independent adjudication of the law,
fairness in the application of the law, and avoidance of arbitrariness. Access to justice the ability of
people to seek and obtain a remedy through informal or formal institutions of justice is a mutually

early 1997 the effects of Jobs leadership were already being felt at Apple as Jobs announced that
Apple would start to sell their computers online, and within one week of its launch it was the third

The Power of Nuclear Engery
Atoms for Peace One of the biggest issues we face in the 21st century is how we can produce energy
for our rapidly growing energy needs effectively. There are many sources we can obtain energy from
to fulfill our needs such as coal, oil, natural gas, nuclear and alternatives like wind, solar, geothermal,
hydroelectric, and biofuels but all of these sources have their negatives. Whether it s the cost of a
project, the negative environmental affects, or even the appearance of certain facility. Nuclear energy
can be the greatest and most beneficial energy source for the United States. There is no doubt energy
is an important resource. We use energy in every aspect of our lives. In the year 2010 the whole world
used a total of 511 quadrillion British thermal units of energy and of the 511 quadrillion The United
States primary energy consumption was nearly 98 quadrillion Btu, nearly 19% of world total primary
energy consumption (U.S. Energy Information Admin.). To put things into perspective 1 quadrillion
Btu equals 45 million tons of coal or about 172 million barrels of crude oil. So the United Sates would
have used 4.4 billion tons of coal or about 17 billion barrels of crude oil in 2010 alone. As population
grows the demand for energy consumption will grow by 56 percent between 2010 and 2040 (U.S.
E.I.A.). With demand expected to grow that much within the next 30 years, it is essential we build a
sturdy foundation to prepare us for the future. Like all energy source

Quest For Meaning
Throughout the entirety of this course, I was able to truly think critically and deeply about faith, God,
death and meaning. This section of Logos was extremely meaningful for me because I think it is so
important to have faith in something higher in order to find true meaning in life. I choose to live my
life in a way that is significant for me because I do not want to depart this world without leaving
something behind. Legacy is important to me, but so is finding meaning within myself. The works we
read, watched and discussed guided and challenged my reflections so I could develop a clearer
understanding of my quest for meaning. After reading one of the very first readings, The Courage to
Be, I realized how influential death and meaning is on an individual s life. In the past, I always
thought those who feared death were focusing too much on the future and forgetting to live in the
present. I also thought it was senseless to fear death because it is inevitable. We are mortal beings: no
one is indestructible. Furthermore, I do not think I would want to live forever even if I was given the
opportunity; nonetheless, fearing death is a real issue. After reading about ontic anxiety, I developed a
more sympathetic understanding of this issue. Tillich s writing also expanded on my beliefs about fate

Briefly Summarize The Folole Muliaga Case
Introduction I will review the unethical event that happened in New Zealand. This event lead to a

Civil and criminal arrangements and the standards that were used will be considered. The purpose of
this paper will be to define the legitimacy of the organization s behaviors. The matter of this study is
about a New Zealand owned orginzation that is tax payer funded. The orginzation is one of four utility
companies that provided energy services to New Zealand. They provided these services for a cost
(Eweje, 2010 #88). There was incident where there was a situation that a taxpayer had a disconnection
of service. This disconnection and the denial that the orginzation did anything wrong forced changes
in the way they handled their social responsibility. Briefly summarize the Folole Muliaga scenario

produced damaging public opinion. Mercury Energy was state owned and funded by taxpayers. This
episode caused a huge impact that was very negative because the taxpayers and New Zealand
expected more from the utility company when death occurred. The backing of the organizational
operations decreased, causing support and funding from the state to decrease. The activities of
orginzation were illegal and immoral, however, they did follow organizations policies that were legal.

This offense which just six weeks ago looked unstoppable, has been abysmal over the previous month;
averaging a mere 21.4 points per game. The team has been riddled with injuries all season. We
severely overlooked Jordy Nelson s season ending injury in August. Without Nelson, the offense has
been a shell of it s self. But, the indicator of trouble for the Packers is Eddie Lacy. We all read the
reports from a few weeks ago that Lacy was out of shape and dealing with a severe ankle injury, but
coming into this week, reports said, Lacy looked healthier than ever . This was far from the truth, as
Lacy ran for a mere 10 yards on five carries, fumbling the ball once. Lacy has given us zero ... Show

realize that despite not coming back with pounds and pounds of gold, the two men earned something
even better: a new life. Howard is returning to the village to become a grandfather like figure to the
villagers. As for Curtin, he is going to look for the widow of a man, named Cody, as he was killed
initially in the film by the bandits, in efforts to marry her and start a family. The film was not done yet,
it ended with an image of the empty sack of gold lying next to a cactus. Proving that although money

The conditions apply, in fact, in any situation in which the development of the person is a goal
(Rogers, 1959, 1961). Here is a brief summary from the point of view of psychotherapy, but the
description applies to all of the foregoing relationships. The first element has to do with genuineness,
realness, or congruence. The more the therapist is him or herself in the relationship, putting up no
professional front or personal facade, the greater is the likelihood that the client will change and grow
in a constructive manner. The second attitude of importance in creating a climate for change is
acceptance, or caring or prizing unconditional positive regard. It means that when the therapist is
experiencing a positive, nonjudgmental, accepting attitude toward whatever the client is at that
moment, therapeutic movement or change is more likely. . . . The third facilitative aspect of the
relationship is empathic understanding. This means that the therapist senses accurately the feelings
and personal meanings that are being experienced by the client and communicates this acceptant
understanding to the client. (Rogers, 1986). Additional assumptions, beliefs and hypotheses that are
central to the person centered approach are the following: 1. Belief that human nature is basically
constructive. 2. Belief that human nature is basically social. 2 3. Belief that self regard is a basic
human need and that self regard, autonomy and individual

Effects Of Globalisation On Asia
The impacts faced in Asia as a result of economic globalisation has resulted in a number of issues for
the region. The impacts concern the vast economic growth of nation states, the improvements of
technology, freer trade between countries and more jobs, but also the exploitation of labour and the
income inequality that features frequently throughout the region of Asia. Along with these impacts on
Asia, there are a number of benefits and disadvantages that have greatly affected the region.
Globalisation, in particular economic globalisation has had many impacts, both beneficial and
negative, on Asia. Economic globalisation refers to the integration of national economies into the
international economy through trade, foreign direct investment, capital flows, migration, and the
spread of technology (Potocki 2). Economic globalisation has seen many benefits for Asia as it allows
for freer trade between countries within Asia as well as worldwide to Western countries such as the
United States. Advancements in technology has been a major benefit to economic globalisations as it
decreases the costs of communication and transportation of goods, which is of great benefit for trading
between nations and connecting Asia and the rest of the world (Shangquan 1). Economic globalisation
has also allowed for products to be manufactured at a much lower cost as well as being sold for a
lower cost. This can be seen with the prices of computers reducing and only costing approximately

An Analytical And Conceptual Framework On The Possibility...
CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION This thesis explores an analytical and conceptual framework on
the possibility of employee ownership influence on organizational loyalty as it applies to the modus
operandi of John Lewis Partnership. There are divergent views about the influence of employee
ownership on organizational loyalty. Research suggests that ownership may influence organizational
loyalty (e.g. Taylor, 2011) but it is not completely clear how, thereby prompting various researches
and scientific experimentation on the subject matter. Scholars (e.g. Lampel et al, 2010) reviewing the
performance differences between companies that practice employee ownership framework and other
forms, like State owned Enterprises (SOE) have provisioned mixed results. On the average, these
investigation by various scholars and academia opined that employee ownership and privatization
usually results in improved loyalty and financial performance (e.g., Andrew and Dowling (1998);
Martin and Parker (1997), Lioukas and Kouremenos (1989)). The process of employee ownership,
involving all business activities and functions associated with exploitation and opportunities
identification (Bygrave and Hofer, 1991; Shane and Venkataraman, 2000), have spawned considerable
interests from practitioners and academics. In reality, the employee ownership functionalities are
processes and elements that are vital to the growth of a business organization and economy.

The Civilization Of The Egyptians
The civilization of the Egyptians was accomplished by its surroundings. The Nile always flooded
among the spring time every year. The flood would leave tons of fertile silt. The Sahara Desert also
surrounded Egypt, but with the Nile it was a great place to live in. With it Egypt grew a lot of
manpower and acquired a surplus to trade and to devote to other matters. Nature had also created a
vast fortress wall that protected them from hostile neighbors. They all spoke a common language and
shared religious beliefs. They made a palette for the gods that was two feet and it told the unification
of Egypt. Narmer was the first one to unify Egypt and it was kept that way for 3,000 years. They had a
belief that their pharaoh would be resurrected in another world and made huge tombs for them with
necessities inside with their dead body. There are nine eras of Egyptian history, they are called:
Predynastic early Dynastic, Old Kingdoms, First Intermediate Period, New Kingdoms, Late Period,
and Ptolemaic Period. One Egyptians ruler, named Khufu, created the largest tombs and pyramids.
This earned the Pyramid age nickname for the Old Kingdom, First Intermediate Period New

Melting Point And Boling Point
Introduction: Melting point and Boling point are two fundamental physical properties that are
commonly used to identify unknown compounds, to verify already known compounds, and to
determine the purity of compounds.2 If the compound is a solid, the procedure for melting point
determination is followed. However, if it is a liquid a boiling point technique must be performed, such
as distillation or refluxing.2
The melting point determination consists of five major steps: obtain the sample and make sure it is
grinded, fill 2 3 capillary tubes with the sample, ensure that the sample is tightly packed, insert the
tubes into the Melting Point Apparatus to run a fast and a slow ramp, and finally record the data.3
Grinding the sample could be done by several methods. A large stainless steel spatula could be used to
directly crush the tiny crystals into fine powder, or the sample could be first placed within a folded
piece of filter paper and then pressed with the spatula.2 A mortar and pestle are also an appropriate
instrument to grind the sample.4 Next, the adequate amount of sample, which is 1 2mm, should be
collected with each capillary tube.2 If less sample is collected, it is much harder to see when the first
and last droplets form, making it difficult for the chemist to record melting range temperatures.6 If the
capillary tubes are filled with larger sample, this could cause uneven heating during the fast and slow
ramps and could also provide inaccurate melting range that is

Observation And Experimentation Of Observation
Observation is both an act and a remark made about an issue of interest. It is the process of close
monitoring of an occurrence for some given reasons, scientific or not. It is also the information
gathered from the monitoring process. In any scientific study, certain steps have to be followed. There
has to be observation/experimentation for any hypothesis to be formed and tested. It all starts from the
experimentation stage where close observations are made. Scientists rely mostly on observation in its
many forms in order to gain evidence during their studies. Nevertheless, the observational evidence is
majorly theory laden. The anticipation is based on past theories such that their aim is to agree with a
learnt theory or to reject it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If In any cases the observations are laden in any way, then there is a threat to science. Studies have
shown that perception can be influenced by theories. The theories can therefore control the
observation from the initial stages up to the end. Once the perception is theory based rather than the
real observation at hand, the attention to the process, how the observer comprehend the process and
later interpret the results has an effect to the scientific process(science). The findings could be
interpreted in the right and best way possible but their credibility depend on how the observations
were collected. If they were biased, then their credibility is low and unreliable.
Observation mainly involve seeing . Certain theories need observational support to be scientifically
accepted. Observational support is further applied when comparing two theories that might closely
explain a similar topic. Scientists make conclusions based on what they see which is further
influenced by on their beliefs. Despite that two people observing the same thing, their conclusions
might vary. This makes it hard when deciding which theory is better, observation technique isn t the
better way. Its dependence on the observers perspective stand in the way of making the right choice.
Certain observation statements are laden. Most of them are theory laden for instance ice melts in the

What were theatres like?
The beginning of theatres was very similar to how they are today. For example, they still had a large
audience watching performing actors who have scripted and learnt a set play. They also had teared
seating as well.
The beginning of theatres was in 500 B.C. and back then going to the theatre was a big event. All of
the women use to get their slaves to do their hair especially nice and choose out the best dress they
owned.
One of the reasons this event was so big was because it was occasional unlike today when we can
book a theatre production all year around, back in 500 B.C you had to wait because the Theatre group
only visited a few days every year.
Another difference was that to go and watch this theatre group ... Show more content on

During the summer of 1851, there was a count of theatres, and there were 19 theatres in London.
Stage managers were introduced. Their jobs were the equivalent of modern day directors and
producers. Because of stage manager, a lot of backstage confusion was stopped and chaos was
reduced.
Who were the audiences?
The theatres were not restricted to certain classes of society. This is because they had improved the
transportation system so the streets were far safer to travel along (especially at night). This meant that
plays could run longer into the night without people having to worry about how they were going to get
home safe. Therefore, theatres produced more money and consequently produced better plays.
Which plays were performed?
The main type of play was comedy . This was a combination of high and low comedy. Plots based on
coincidence and/or mistaken identities The characters usually puppets of fate. They were usually
unable to get married because they were too poor or too rich. They would also suffer a loss of identity
due to an accident. Another popular plot was where twins were separated and then they are unaware as
to their double.

I had walked into the shop and was greeted by a funky scent. It smelled like a mixture of dirty old man

Theories And Concepts Of Child Development
The concepts of child development are many and varied. It is all well and good to read about theories
and concepts of child development in a textbook, but when these concepts are observed in real life
classrooms, the theories and concepts are easier to understand. It is also easy to plan a classroom on
paper, but in real life, students with different levels of development and abilities, learning styles, and
cultures will be in the classroom. Observing children and breaking down the different stages and
philosophies of development help future teachers acquire a comprehensive and detailed view of child
development. Physical Development Physical development is how a student grows and matures over
time. This includes things like height, weight, and muscle mass, but also affects the brain (CITE

rate between genders. Boys are commonly taller than girls and weigh more. Males also acquire more
muscle mass during puberty. The students in the seventh grade class showed these characteristics. One
boy was much taller than his two female partners. Both girls were relatively slim while the boy had
more muscle. In the kindergarten class on the other hand, both the boys and girls looked to be about
the same size. While there were obvious differences in size, those came from genetics. Bergin Bergin

The Symbols Of The Bear
Chose to write about this story because it is full of many ideas and symbols that are reflected in
reality. The author may have written this story for other reasons, but at least I understand it in a
different way and will work on a conceptual analysis of it.
I drew attention to this sentence mentioned by the writer in the first section
The encounter was unpremeditated on both sides. I was not hunting for a bear, and I have no reason to
suppose that a bear was looking for me. Because on the assumption that the bear is a symbol of the
problem and the narrator a symbol of man, the important question is: Does man seek the cause of the
problem as a result of his thinking or his actions, or is it the problems that seek behind man, since it is

The fact is that escape from the problem is not a kind of lack of courage, but it may be a tactical

What would be my wife s mortification when the news was brought that her husband had been eaten
by a bear! I think here is a kind of humor and fun by the author, which I find unacceptable and
illogical here in such dangerous moments. Instead of thinking about survival, he is looking for what
would be told after his death or the scandal that his family will suffer because he was killed by a bear!
Perhaps the author wanted to slightly ease the reader from the tension caused by the story. The writer
finally beat the bear and managed to kill him. This teaches us persistence and patience until we
achieve victory and we can overcome the enemy.
The writer then returns to his home as a victor after overcoming his problem and killing the bear. This
reflects our sense of happiness and pride among family members, and that one is proud of himself
when overcoming his problems. Indeed, this may be one of the reasons for happiness in life, but it is
certain that happiness has many other

Appropriation In Art History
Appropriation in art and art history refers to the practice of artists using pre existing objects or images
in their art with little transformation of the original (Tate, no date). Artists have been appropriating for
many centuries and tend to use the most iconic of masterpieces from the past and make them more
contemporary for today s style. The Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci is one of the greatest examples
of this act. It is one of the most famous and well known paintings ever created; however the piece has
been manipulated by other artists, so much that the meaning behind the original is indefinite. If a piece
of which is so recognisable in our society be stolen from other artists, this leaves us with the question

and whether it matters in our society.
This is a representation of the Marilyn Monroe Piece by Yu Youhan produced in the Chinese century
of political pop.
Youhan replicated the same method to Warhol s all time famous artwork but altered the subject of the
design. Instead of Monroe he replaced the figure as the chairman Mao. He used Mao as part of a
memorial as he played a big part in his political life. By doing this, it changes the meaning of the
painting and Mao becomes the centre of attention and the main topic of the piece.
I am now going to discuss Cindy Sherman and her film scenes. She was a big believer in Feminism
and is well known for recreating film stills replacing the original actors with her.

The Components Elements Of Education
Education comes in different philosophies and is a crucial element in every civilization. When a
country is oppressed, one of the first things the oppressor tries to take over and get control is their
education. The reason is because with education, one can give or withhold any kind of information
and shape the nation in the way they see appropriate. With the exception of oppressed individuals,
education teaches their society who they are, what is the nature of their environment, and how does
the context exist in the in the environment? Through control, the government is able to hold power
over the component elements of education. The component elements of education include the teacher,
learner, curriculum, learning environment, methodology, desired results, the teacher student
relationship, and the teacher community relationship. Three philosophies of pedagogy that could be
divided into the component elements of education are the classical traditional/conservative
philosophy, liberal progressive, and critical pedagogy. Although a few aspects within the elements are
similar, they are very different in their approach of teaching philosophies. The classical
traditional/conservative philosophy, liberal progressive, and critical pedagogy compare within the
curriculum, but their ideologies of teacher, learner, and desired results are drastically different. Each
philosophy has an overall goal for their society and people through the component elements of
education.

Reaction Paper On Pre-Interaction
Pre Interaction:
What information are you seeking to gain from this interaction?
During this interaction, I am hoping to gain information about various topics on campus. The
following topics include: Public Safety, lack of trash cans, how to get commuter students more
involved, and how can we improve the GCU experience for commuter students. The reason, I bought
up discussing about Public Safety, is that commuter students are the ones who constantly are walking
to and from the Halo and 29th Avenue garages and I just want to see if there has been any issues. The
reason, I plan on discussing the lack of trash cans, is that it was bought up to my attention during a
previous interaction that there were not trash cans by the popular areas like the student union and the
Engineering classrooms. Also, this individual was concern that there is a lack of trash cans by the
commuter lounge. The third question, I wanted to focus on how we could get more commuter students
to our events. Lastly, I want every commuter student to feel like they have a great college experience
that is why I am asking how we can make their experience at GCU better.
Please list the questions that you plan to ask students below:
Do you feel safe when coming on and off campus? How you experience any issues?
Do you feel there is a lack of trash cans near popular areas like the Student Union and the Engineering
building?
How can we get more commuter students involved on campus?
How can we improve your GCU experience?

Post Interaction:
What were the main concerns and issues raised by students?
The main concerns and issues raised by students were that they do not feel like they know about
various events on campus. Most students felt that there should be an email that goes out with all the
events that week on it. Another issue was they feel like that they need to have more events in the
afternoon early evening, so they can attend. They feel like they will not come back to campus unless it
is a really big event. Another issue that was addressed was installing a left turn signal by the Halo
garage. Most commuter students felt that this would solve the issues of trying to get out of the

License Plate Readers Summary
The advent of license plate readers (LPRs) has brought joy to law enforcement due to the ways in
which LPRs can facilitate ongoing investigations. However, it has also brought concern to privacy
advocates and law abiding citizens whose data is also being picked up by LPRs. Allison Klein and
Josh White s Washington Post article, titled License Plate Readers: A Useful Tool for Police Comes
with Privacy Concerns, explores these two perspectives. The article starts by examining the adoption
of this technology in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. There is a high concentration of LPRs
in the city proper. The local police departments want to ensure that LPRs cover the entirety of the
District of Columbia. However, there has been pushback from groups like the American Civil
Liberties Union (ACLU). The ACLU claims that no level of government whether it is local, state, or
federal should have widespread access to the travels of innocent civilians. Law enforcement agencies
across the country have countered such criticism with the assertion that LPRs can help with cases
involving child abductors or terrorists. LPRs would also assist in preventative policing. ... Show more

As of 2011 when this article was published there has not been any legal precedent for LPRs
specifically. However, the United States Supreme Court has taken a look at the ramifications of GPS
surveillance. Klein and White sought the expertise of Orin Kerr, a professor of law at George
Washington University. Kerr raised questions surrounding the role of LPRs, including one about the
retention of data. The main takeaway from Kerr s input is that law enforcement is not effectively
addressing the privacy concerns that many Americans have about

Moral Messages in An Inspector Calls by J.B. Priestley
Priestley wrote an Inspector Calls in 1945 just before the end of WW2. However, The play itself is set
in 1912 just before the start of WW1, and in Edwardian England. Priestley was a socialist writer who
had left wing political views with very strong beliefs; he enjoyed using types of theatre to get his
messages across.
When the platy was set, there was a lot of historical events going on at the time; Titanic, Captain Scott
falling to reach S Pole, Suffragette movement campaigning for women s rights, worker striking for
better pay and conditions, Russia unrest, no NHS/DHSS, and no help from state for poor. All of these
are mentioned in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In An Inspector Calls, Mr. Birling is a prime example of this stereotypical character of the time.
In Mr. Birling s big speech before the Inspector arrives, there are many moral issues raised: First of
all, the issue of whether the marriage is for love, money, respect or business Your engagement to
Sheila means a tremendous lot to me…your father and I have been friendly rivals in business for
some time now…and now you ve brought us together. While Mr B does mention that they will make
each other very happy he mentions his business a lot, and this shows how he wants the wedding for
two reasons, as he wants to climb the social ladder to the top. This is mentioned a number of times at
different sections of the play. Mr B refers to business later on in his speech, with the prosperity of the
country brought up in the speech suggesting the marriage is for money, and when it turns out Gerald
has been keeping a mistress, he still wants the marriage to go ahead making excuses for Gerald; this
shows that all Mr. Birling wanted from the marriage was money, respect and prosperity for himself.
A number of other issues that were around at the time the play was set (1912) are raised; these issues
are raised by Priestley are because of his strong political views, and it is clear what he thought on

Isolation In The Scarlet Letter

Isolation in The Scarlet Letter
There has been a constant dispute over whether people should be governed by determinism or free
will. Determinism is the idea that our actions and fate are predetermined and every occurrence can be
explained or has a reason for happening; free will, in contrast, is the idea that we have the ability to act
independently of external restraints. In the 17th century, Puritan society arose in New England as one
that was governed by its religious views, and thus was a deterministic one. Nathaniel Hawthorne
illustrates this in his novel The Scarlet Letter, in which the characters Hester, Dimmesdale, Pearl, and
Chillingworth are alienated by society. Although ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By making the scarlet letter symbolize sin and having the community shun her for it, Hawthorne is
illustrating how constraining the Puritans are, since they judge people solely on their sins or lack
thereof.
Puritan society is also portrayed in a negative light when observing its effects on Dimmesdale. Arthur
Dimmesdale is praised by many in his community as a holy figure and thus a leader, however, he is
just as much a sinner as Hester, since together they committed adultery. The fact that he hides this
secret in order to preserve this false image of himself shows how much he cares about how he is
viewed by society. While many would argue that he does this out of his own free will, there is no
doubt that he feels pressure from society to keep his past hidden and maintain this holy facade. Once
Dimmesdale dies, some townspeople affirm that the Reverend Mr. Dimmesdale, on the very day when
Hester Prynne first wore her ignominious badge, had begun a course of penance ... by inflicting a
hideous torture on himself (Hawthorne 230). When they see the letter branded on Dimmesdale, they
are shown how he has been tortured by himself and by Chillingworth, as a result of the agony society
put him through in hiding his secret of having committed sin. This instance shows how, in a
deterministic society, even those viewed as the

Russia s National Security And Geopolitical Motives
After the fall of the Soviet Union in 1989, international attention shifted from Russia to new powers
and threats in East Asia and the Middle East. Al Qaeda, the Israeli Palestinian conflict, and the rise of
China dominated the Western World s agenda, while Eastern Europe was relegated to an occasional
mention. Thus, policymakers were thoroughly unprepared when Ukraine was thrust into the spotlight
in March. Fortunately, analysts can always draw on the traditional tools of international relations to
help explain these events. Although no single critical theory can describe all parts of an event, in
combination, these perspectives paint a clear picture of the conflict. In the case of Ukraine,
Mearsheimer s realism provides a strong ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Lecture, 9/3/14). As Mearsheimer explains, Russia felt its security threatened by the prospect of EU
expansion into what has traditionally been its sphere of influence (New York Times, 2014). Its actions
reflect a realist desire to protect and increase its own power in the region. Historically speaking, the
2013 EU talks echoed a pattern of recent Western encroachment threatening Russia s security in
Eastern Europe. In the early 2000s, NATO s expansion to include Poland and The Baltic states made
Russia uncomfortable, and in 2008 an attempt at Georgian membership ended with a regional war
(Trenin, 2014). The most recent clash began in November when former President Yanukovych s
government was scheduled to sign an association agreement with the EU (BBC, 2014). Largely
supported by young voters, primarily in Western Ukraine, the agreement would have pushed Ukraine
away from the Russian dominated Eurasian Economic Union (Trenin, 2014). In the Mearsheimer s
world, the international arena is a zero sum game, and losing Ukraine to the EU signaled an implicit
larger erosion of Russia s regional dominance (New York Times, 2014). In addition to simply
countering Western power, a Russian aligned Ukraine would provide a significant political and
economic advantage to Moscow. Over 50 percent of Russian gas exports to Europe were routed
through Ukraine (New York Times

America s Response To Terrorism Essay
America should respond to threats of terrorism by collaborating with other countries to fight terrorism.
There are two reasons why America should respond to threats of terrorism by collaborating with other
countries to fight terrorism. One reason is that it could bring countries together to make a strong
international community and have more military, finance, diplomatic, and intelligence tools necessary
to address terrorism. The second reason is that it could get the U.S. more allies to help them with their
problems. Some people think America should respond to threats of terrorism by defending their
homeland because taking sides in other international conflicts could only increase the United States
vulnerability. The less the U.S. is involved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Collaborating with other countries could bring countries together to make a strong international
community and have more military, finance, diplomatic, and intelligence tools necessary to address
terrorism. International cooperation brings together the military, financial, diplomatic, and intelligence
tools necessary to address international terrorism (Choices for the 21st century education program).
When international cooperation comes together, the U.S. has more of everything including military
forces, finances, diplomatic, and intelligence tools. These are the things they need to fight and stop
terrorism. But if they try to stop these terrorist groups individually, then the terrorist groups would
over power them and win. The UN is only as strong as its member states. In order for the UN to be
effective it must have the full support of the United States (Choices for the 21st century education
program). This quote is saying that without the United States help the UN is not as strong as it is with
the U.S. Working together is the key to success. Working together could get more allies and forming
an alliance with powerful nations could be good for the U.S s

Cyber Bullying Is A New Form Of Bullying
Since its introduction in the early 2000 s, social media has introduced a whole new world for
socialization and sharing. The presence of social media in our lives allows for everyone to connect
through the use of websites and apps from almost anywhere that the Internet is available. This
includes popular sites such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and even Snapchat. With the
use of these applications comes many benefits but also great risks for many of the adolescents and
young adults that make up a majority of these website users. These risks come in the form of cyber
bullying and targets a generation that is on average aged 12 18 years old and who uses the internet
about 13.3 hours a week (Kowalski 2008: 4).
Description of the problem
Cyber bullying is a new form of bullying in which technology is used as a tool to bully someone from
a device, most commonly via social media. Over the past ten years it has grown to be the center of
media attention as more and more children are falling victim to this cyber assault. The traditional form
of face to face bullying is now being replaced with the use of cellphones as the tool for name calling,
teasing, and intimidation. This could be anything from mean comments on a photo to websites being
created solely for the purpose of making fun of an individual. While it occurs less often than
traditional bullying, up to 70% of students in the United States have reported experiencing cyber
bullying (Mark 2011: 93).

her out as she dancing around the enclosure, a mask to its naked eyes and the eyes of the spectators as
well. It continued its movements like a possessed creature, roaring in fury as it hope to knock her to
her feet and after long moments of continuing its failing actions, the dragon gave up with another
heartfelt roar of disbelief. Knowing she d tormented the creature enough, Neona waved her wand

  • 2. Robert Ader Biography Essay Robert Ader was born in the Bronx on 20 February 1932, the elder of Nathan and Mae Ader s two sons. He attended the Horace Mann School in the Bronx, and in 1949 entered Tulane University, from which he graduated in 1953 with a B.S. in psychology. Immediately entering the graduate program at Cornell University, Ader earned a Ph.D. in psychology in 1957. That same year he was hired as a part time instructor in the Dept. of Psychology at the University of Rochester, and part time instructor in the Dept. of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester School of Medicine Dentistry. Both John Romano, M.D., the chairman of Psychiatry, and George L. • 3. Essay On Cheating Infraction On April 11, 2017, a report was filed through the Honor Code indicating my involvement in a cheating infraction. I was participating in Charlie Nuttelman s class recitation where we must take five online quizzes to account for a final grade. The course and quizzes are completely online, excluding the prompt the teaching assistant gives out prior to the quiz. The prompt includes a series of codes and questions, in addition to a few rules students must abide by during the exam. These rules include, but are not limited to, the restriction of cheating, cell phone use, plagiarism, and resubmission. On the day of my cheating infraction, I was particularly overstressed and anxious. By that time late in the semester, the pressure of final grades ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have truly learned a lot about myself, morality and ethics, and the importance of integrity as a result of this incident. This was a one time incident that occurred due to laziness and lack of respect I had for myself, my abilities, and for the class. This will never occur again and I have truly learned my lesson. Consequently, I have changed my behavior. I now believe in the importance of studying rather than winging it, honoring myself and my class rather than getting by, and learning the material for the sake of knowledge rather than to just pass it. The Honor Code policies at various public universities hold striking similarities, and obvious differences, to the policies set in place at the University of Colorado Boulder. To commence, the Honor Code pledge at Colorado State University mirrors CU s pledge almost precisely: I have not given, received, or used any unauthorized assistance (Colorado State University). However, the ways in which CSU deals with academic misconduct vary drastically from CU s means of chastising students. In my experience with the cheating infraction, my TA, Mona Bdewi, did not address or warn me before going straight to Professor Nuttelman. He, then, reported me directly to the Honor Code without giving me the chance to explain my side. Neither the TA, nor my Professor, allowed me the opportunity to explain my side. • 4. Carry On College Campuses When pondering guns we tend to think whether the Second Amendment, the right to bear arms, would be taken away. Whether or not to allow concealed weapons on college campuses has been a debated topic for many years. Whether we should allow conceal and carry on campuses seems like a hard debate for many reasons, one such as whether it would be safe to allow college students to be armed with weapons. Several colleges lately have been allowing conceal and carry on their college campuses. Conceal and carry used to be a topic that not many people thought would come up when talking about colleges and where to go. The recent shootings have sparked a debate over whether to allow conceal and carry on college campuses. Like many people who are about to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order for students to be successful in college, they must be responsible. John McNay once said, There is an assumption that if these people are licensed to carry guns then they will act responsibility and wise with the weapons. But we license people to drive cars, too, and we see people driving foolishly and carelessly all the time (McNay). This states that there seems to be not much trust in the college students and that they will probably not act as responsible as they should with a deadly weapon in their possession. If the students are trusted to carry a gun, then they should be responsible with that gun in hand. Other factors also come into play when considering whether students should be allowed to carry guns, such as drugs or alcohol could play a role in how students act. Vore once said, A lot of folks think they re just going to carry a gun ... and just going to pop their head up and confront the shooter and shoot them (Hulsey). People who have guns often feel like they are strong and are invincible. They often act like they can confront the person when they can t always do that. It isn t safe because the student could easily be shot by the shooter. Shooters are more likely to shoot someone who has a gun than someone who doesn t, so students are just putting themselves in more danger if they have a gun in hand. Students need to be more responsible in knowing when the right time would be to take ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Registered Retirement Savings Plan Taxation Assignment Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) Submitted By: Instructor: Date: What is an RRSP? A Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) is a tax deferred account designed specifically for retirement savings. Any resident of Canada under the age of 71 who has earned income may establish and contribute to an RRSP. (Edward Jones, 2013) RRSPs are the Canadian government s way of helping citizens save their money for retirement. Saving for 30 to 40 years of retirement may seem like a long task, but well planned contributions and withdrawals from your RRSP can be a great way to get enough money for when you retire. Objective The objective of a RRSP is to provide individuals with an account which they may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The maximum you can take out in one year is $10,000. You won t pay any tax on it as long as you pay it back over 10 years. This does not include paying for a child s education. My conclusion is that RRSPs benefit Canadians by reducing their taxes and allowing their savings to compound tax free. Individual RRSP s are the most common type of RRSP s. RRSP contributions are deducted from earned income before it is taxed, so the money that you put into an RRSP is not taxed until it is withdrawn. Taking money out of an RRSP account before retirement can be very expensive because withholding taxes often apply. The RRSP Home Buyer s Plan allows contributors to borrow RRSP funds to finance the purchase of a home. Also that it would be the best to start making contributions early to avoid early withdrawals. Due to the most recent Ebola outbreak in western Africa, researchers are finally tackling the obstacle of finding a cure to ebolavirus. As a result of this, an urgent question that needs to be addressed is why no one has dedicated his or her focus on researching an Ebola vaccine or treatment until the current outbreak. However, there is no single answer to this question. The lack of research and an Ebola vaccine and/or therapeutic drug is the direct effect of the political, social, and ethical injustices that have plagued Africans for numerous decades. After going to many websites researching a definition that I could use to start I quickly discovered that the RULE OF LAW meant something different to each of the authors of the websites and while they were all meaningful none of them encompassed what I predetermined it should be until I reached the one definition that really jumped out at me is: Rule of law refers to an end state in which all individuals and institutions, public and private, and the state itself are held accountable to the law, which is supreme. Laws must be consistent with international human rights norms and standards, legally certain, legally transparent, drafted with procedural transparency, and publicly promulgated. • 13. The Power of Nuclear Engery Atoms for Peace One of the biggest issues we face in the 21st century is how we can produce energy for our rapidly growing energy needs effectively. There are many sources we can obtain energy from to fulfill our needs such as coal, oil, natural gas, nuclear and alternatives like wind, solar, geothermal, hydroelectric, and biofuels but all of these sources have their negatives. Whether it s the cost of a project, the negative environmental affects, or even the appearance of certain facility. Nuclear energy can be the greatest and most beneficial energy source for the United States. There is no doubt energy is an important resource. We use energy in every aspect of our lives. In the year 2010 the whole world used a total of 511 quadrillion British thermal units of energy and of the 511 quadrillion The United States primary energy consumption was nearly 98 quadrillion Btu, nearly 19% of world total primary energy consumption (U.S. Energy Information Admin.). To put things into perspective 1 quadrillion Btu equals 45 million tons of coal or about 172 million barrels of crude oil. So the United Sates would have used 4.4 billion tons of coal or about 17 billion barrels of crude oil in 2010 alone. As population grows the demand for energy consumption will grow by 56 percent between 2010 and 2040 (U.S. E.I.A.). This section of Logos was extremely meaningful for me because I think it is so important to have faith in something higher in order to find true meaning in life. I choose to live my life in a way that is significant for me because I do not want to depart this world without leaving something behind. Legacy is important to me, but so is finding meaning within myself. The works we read, watched and discussed guided and challenged my reflections so I could develop a clearer understanding of my quest for meaning. After reading one of the very first readings, The Courage to Be, I realized how influential death and meaning is on an individual s life. In the past, I always thought those who feared death were focusing too much on the future and forgetting to live in the present. I also thought it was senseless to fear death because it is inevitable. We are mortal beings: no one is indestructible. Furthermore, I do not think I would want to live forever even if I was given the opportunity; nonetheless, fearing death is a real issue. We severely overlooked Jordy Nelson s season ending injury in August. Without Nelson, the offense has been a shell of it s self. But, the indicator of trouble for the Packers is Eddie Lacy. We all read the reports from a few weeks ago that Lacy was out of shape and dealing with a severe ankle injury, but coming into this week, reports said, Lacy looked healthier than ever . In the case of three men in The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, they soon realize that the only thing that money buys is a ticket to trouble. In the beginning of the movie, two characters, Dobbs and Curtin agreed that money should be hard earned. So the two characters set out to Tampico, in efforts to find a job that can earn them extra change in their empty pockets. Howard is returning to the village to become a grandfather like figure to the villagers. As for Curtin, he is going to look for the widow of a man, named Cody, as he was killed initially in the film by the bandits, in efforts to marry her and start a family. While Hillary Clinton feels that immigrants should be able to stay in the U.S., Donald Trump is a massive supporter of sending back any immigrants, especially Mexicans, to their birthplaces. The conditions apply, in fact, in any situation in which the development of the person is a goal (Rogers, 1959, 1961). Here is a brief summary from the point of view of psychotherapy, but the description applies to all of the foregoing relationships. The first element has to do with genuineness, realness, or congruence. The more the therapist is him or herself in the relationship, putting up no professional front or personal facade, the greater is the likelihood that the client will change and grow in a constructive manner. The second attitude of importance in creating a climate for change is acceptance, or caring or prizing unconditional positive regard. It means that when the therapist is experiencing a positive, nonjudgmental, accepting attitude toward whatever the client is at that moment, therapeutic movement or change is more likely. . . . The third facilitative aspect of the relationship is empathic understanding. This means that the therapist senses accurately the feelings and personal meanings that are being experienced by the client and communicates this acceptant understanding to the client. The impacts concern the vast economic growth of nation states, the improvements of technology, freer trade between countries and more jobs, but also the exploitation of labour and the income inequality that features frequently throughout the region of Asia. Along with these impacts on Asia, there are a number of benefits and disadvantages that have greatly affected the region. Globalisation, in particular economic globalisation has had many impacts, both beneficial and negative, on Asia. Economic globalisation refers to the integration of national economies into the international economy through trade, foreign direct investment, capital flows, migration, and the spread of technology (Potocki 2). Economic globalisation has seen many benefits for Asia as it allows for freer trade between countries within Asia as well as worldwide to Western countries such as the United States. Advancements in technology has been a major benefit to economic globalisations as it decreases the costs of communication and transportation of goods, which is of great benefit for trading between nations and connecting Asia and the rest of the world (Shangquan 1). Economic globalisation has also allowed for products to be manufactured at a much lower cost as well as being sold for a lower cost. • 22. An Analytical And Conceptual Framework On The Possibility... CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION This thesis explores an analytical and conceptual framework on the possibility of employee ownership influence on organizational loyalty as it applies to the modus operandi of John Lewis Partnership. There are divergent views about the influence of employee ownership on organizational loyalty. Research suggests that ownership may influence organizational loyalty (e.g. Taylor, 2011) but it is not completely clear how, thereby prompting various researches and scientific experimentation on the subject matter. Scholars (e.g. Lampel et al, 2010) reviewing the performance differences between companies that practice employee ownership framework and other forms, like State owned Enterprises (SOE) have provisioned mixed results. On the average, these investigation by various scholars and academia opined that employee ownership and privatization usually results in improved loyalty and financial performance (e.g., Andrew and Dowling (1998); Martin and Parker (1997), Lioukas and Kouremenos (1989)). The process of employee ownership, involving all business activities and functions associated with exploitation and opportunities identification (Bygrave and Hofer, 1991; Shane and Venkataraman, 2000), have spawned considerable interests from practitioners and academics. In reality, the employee ownership functionalities are processes and elements that are vital to the growth of a business organization and economy. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Melting Point And Boling Point Introduction: Melting point and Boling point are two fundamental physical properties that are commonly used to identify unknown compounds, to verify already known compounds, and to determine the purity of compounds.2 If the compound is a solid, the procedure for melting point determination is followed. However, if it is a liquid a boiling point technique must be performed, such as distillation or refluxing.2 The melting point determination consists of five major steps: obtain the sample and make sure it is grinded, fill 2 3 capillary tubes with the sample, ensure that the sample is tightly packed, insert the tubes into the Melting Point Apparatus to run a fast and a slow ramp, and finally record the data.3 Grinding the sample could be done by several methods. A large stainless steel spatula could be used to directly crush the tiny crystals into fine powder, or the sample could be first placed within a folded piece of filter paper and then pressed with the spatula.2 A mortar and pestle are also an appropriate instrument to grind the sample.4 Next, the adequate amount of sample, which is 1 2mm, should be collected with each capillary tube.2 If less sample is collected, it is much harder to see when the first and last droplets form, making it difficult for the chemist to record melting range temperatures.6 If the capillary tubes are filled with larger sample, this could cause uneven heating during the fast and slow ramps and could also provide inaccurate melting range that is ... • 27. Observation And Experimentation Of Observation Observation is both an act and a remark made about an issue of interest. It is the process of close monitoring of an occurrence for some given reasons, scientific or not. It is also the information gathered from the monitoring process. In any scientific study, certain steps have to be followed. There has to be observation/experimentation for any hypothesis to be formed and tested. It all starts from the experimentation stage where close observations are made. Scientists rely mostly on observation in its many forms in order to gain evidence during their studies. Nevertheless, the observational evidence is majorly theory laden. The anticipation is based on past theories such that their aim is to agree with a learnt theory or to reject it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If In any cases the observations are laden in any way, then there is a threat to science. Studies have shown that perception can be influenced by theories. The theories can therefore control the observation from the initial stages up to the end. Once the perception is theory based rather than the real observation at hand, the attention to the process, how the observer comprehend the process and later interpret the results has an effect to the scientific process(science). The findings could be interpreted in the right and best way possible but their credibility depend on how the observations were collected. If they were biased, then their credibility is low and unreliable. Observation mainly involve seeing . Certain theories need observational support to be scientifically accepted. Observational support is further applied when comparing two theories that might closely explain a similar topic. Scientists make conclusions based on what they see which is further influenced by on their beliefs. Despite that two people observing the same thing, their conclusions might vary. • 40. Reaction Paper On Pre-Interaction Pre Interaction: What information are you seeking to gain from this interaction? During this interaction, I am hoping to gain information about various topics on campus. The following topics include: Public Safety, lack of trash cans, how to get commuter students more involved, and how can we improve the GCU experience for commuter students. The reason, I bought up discussing about Public Safety, is that commuter students are the ones who constantly are walking to and from the Halo and 29th Avenue garages and I just want to see if there has been any issues. The reason, I plan on discussing the lack of trash cans, is that it was bought up to my attention during a previous interaction that there were not trash cans by the popular areas like the student union and the Engineering classrooms. Also, this individual was concern that there is a lack of trash cans by the commuter lounge. The third question, I wanted to focus on how we could get more commuter students to our events. Lastly, I want every commuter student to feel like they have a great college experience that is why I am asking how we can make their experience at GCU better. Please list the questions that you plan to ask students below: Do you feel safe when coming on and off campus? How you experience any issues? Do you feel there is a lack of trash cans near popular areas like the Student Union and the Engineering building? How can we get more commuter students involved on campus? How can we improve your GCU experience? Notes: Post Interaction: What were the main concerns and issues raised by students? The main concerns and issues raised by students were that they do not feel like they know about various events on campus. Most students felt that there should be an email that goes out with all the events that week on it. Another issue was they feel like that they need to have more events in the afternoon early evening, so they can attend. They feel like they will not come back to campus unless it is a really big event. Another issue that was addressed was installing a left turn signal by the Halo garage. Most commuter students felt that this would solve the issues of trying to get out of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. License Plate Readers Summary The advent of license plate readers (LPRs) has brought joy to law enforcement due to the ways in which LPRs can facilitate ongoing investigations. However, it has also brought concern to privacy advocates and law abiding citizens whose data is also being picked up by LPRs. Allison Klein and Josh White s Washington Post article, titled License Plate Readers: A Useful Tool for Police Comes with Privacy Concerns, explores these two perspectives. The article starts by examining the adoption of this technology in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. There is a high concentration of LPRs in the city proper. The local police departments want to ensure that LPRs cover the entirety of the District of Columbia. However, there has been pushback from groups like the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). The ACLU claims that no level of government whether it is local, state, or federal should have widespread access to the travels of innocent civilians. Law enforcement agencies across the country have countered such criticism with the assertion that LPRs can help with cases involving child abductors or terrorists. LPRs would also assist in preventative policing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As of 2011 when this article was published there has not been any legal precedent for LPRs specifically. However, the United States Supreme Court has taken a look at the ramifications of GPS surveillance. • 43. Essay on Moral Messages in An Inspector Calls by J.B.... Moral Messages in An Inspector Calls by J.B. Priestley Priestley wrote an Inspector Calls in 1945 just before the end of WW2. However, The play itself is set in 1912 just before the start of WW1, and in Edwardian England. Priestley was a socialist writer who had left wing political views with very strong beliefs; he enjoyed using types of theatre to get his messages across. When the platy was set, there was a lot of historical events going on at the time; Titanic, Captain Scott falling to reach S Pole, Suffragette movement campaigning for women s rights, worker striking for better pay and conditions, Russia unrest, no NHS/DHSS, and no help from state for poor. In Mr. Birling s big speech before the Inspector arrives, there are many moral issues raised: First of all, the issue of whether the marriage is for love, money, respect or business Your engagement to Sheila means a tremendous lot to me…your father and I have been friendly rivals in business for some time now…and now you ve brought us together. While Mr B does mention that they will make each other very happy he mentions his business a lot, and this shows how he wants the wedding for two reasons, as he wants to climb the social ladder to the top. This is mentioned a number of times at different sections of the play. Mr B refers to business later on in his speech, with the prosperity of the country brought up in the speech suggesting the marriage is for money, and when it turns out Gerald has been keeping a mistress, he still wants the marriage to go ahead making excuses for Gerald; this shows that all Mr. Birling wanted from the marriage was money, respect and prosperity for himself. A number of other issues that were around at the time the play was set (1912) are raised; these issues are raised by Priestley are because of his strong political views, and it is clear what he thought on ... • 44. Isolation In The Scarlet Letter David Grace Ms. Barich ELA 12 Sec. 01 17 October 2017 Isolation in The Scarlet Letter There has been a constant dispute over whether people should be governed by determinism or free will. Determinism is the idea that our actions and fate are predetermined and every occurrence can be explained or has a reason for happening; free will, in contrast, is the idea that we have the ability to act independently of external restraints. In the 17th century, Puritan society arose in New England as one that was governed by its religious views, and thus was a deterministic one. Nathaniel Hawthorne illustrates this in his novel The Scarlet Letter, in which the characters Hester, Dimmesdale, Pearl, and Chillingworth are alienated by society. Although ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By making the scarlet letter symbolize sin and having the community shun her for it, Hawthorne is illustrating how constraining the Puritans are, since they judge people solely on their sins or lack thereof. Puritan society is also portrayed in a negative light when observing its effects on Dimmesdale. Arthur Dimmesdale is praised by many in his community as a holy figure and thus a leader, however, he is just as much a sinner as Hester, since together they committed adultery. The fact that he hides this secret in order to preserve this false image of himself shows how much he cares about how he is viewed by society. While many would argue that he does this out of his own free will, there is no doubt that he feels pressure from society to keep his past hidden and maintain this holy facade. Once Dimmesdale dies, some townspeople affirm that the Reverend Mr. Dimmesdale, on the very day when Hester Prynne first wore her ignominious badge, had begun a course of penance ... by inflicting a hideous torture on himself (Hawthorne 230). When they see the letter branded on Dimmesdale, they are shown how he has been tortured by himself and by Chillingworth, as a result of the agony society put him through in hiding his secret of having committed sin. This instance shows how, in a deterministic society, even those viewed as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Russia s National Security And Geopolitical Motives After the fall of the Soviet Union in 1989, international attention shifted from Russia to new powers and threats in East Asia and the Middle East. Al Qaeda, the Israeli Palestinian conflict, and the rise of China dominated the Western World s agenda, while Eastern Europe was relegated to an occasional mention. Thus, policymakers were thoroughly unprepared when Ukraine was thrust into the spotlight in March. Fortunately, analysts can always draw on the traditional tools of international relations to help explain these events. Although no single critical theory can describe all parts of an event, in combination, these perspectives paint a clear picture of the conflict. In the case of Ukraine, Mearsheimer s realism provides a strong ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Lecture, 9/3/14). As Mearsheimer explains, Russia felt its security threatened by the prospect of EU expansion into what has traditionally been its sphere of influence (New York Times, 2014). Its actions reflect a realist desire to protect and increase its own power in the region. Historically speaking, the 2013 EU talks echoed a pattern of recent Western encroachment threatening Russia s security in Eastern Europe. In the early 2000s, NATO s expansion to include Poland and The Baltic states made Russia uncomfortable, and in 2008 an attempt at Georgian membership ended with a regional war (Trenin, 2014). The most recent clash began in November when former President Yanukovych s government was scheduled to sign an association agreement with the EU (BBC, 2014). Largely supported by young voters, primarily in Western Ukraine, the agreement would have pushed Ukraine away from the Russian dominated Eurasian Economic Union (Trenin, 2014). In the Mearsheimer s world, the international arena is a zero sum game, and losing Ukraine to the EU signaled an implicit larger erosion of Russia s regional dominance (New York Times, 2014). In addition to simply countering Western power, a Russian aligned Ukraine would provide a significant political and economic advantage to Moscow. Over 50 percent of Russian gas exports to Europe were routed through Ukraine (New York Times ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. America s Response To Terrorism Essay America should respond to threats of terrorism by collaborating with other countries to fight terrorism. There are two reasons why America should respond to threats of terrorism by collaborating with other countries to fight terrorism. One reason is that it could bring countries together to make a strong international community and have more military, finance, diplomatic, and intelligence tools necessary to address terrorism. The second reason is that it could get the U.S. more allies to help them with their problems. While it occurs less often than traditional bullying, up to 70% of students in the United States have reported experiencing cyber bullying (Mark 2011: 93). This new form ...
