2. Individualism And Individualism
Individualism has swept our current society. Teenagers like myself constantly are bombarded
with television, radio, social media, and music that pushes a person to be unique and strive to be
themselves. With this new agenda on the rise, comes a new thinking of self confidence. This
thinking in return, has led to many teenagers making big decisions that impact them on a much
larger scale than the surface level might show. The issue at hand has slowly began to create a
culture in which many immature teenagers begin making mature decisions without thinking the
consequences through. Over time, modern day media has turned these negative mistakes into a
perception of positive results. With millions of young adults interacting with social media on a
daily basis, this small issue could grow into having a major effect on society. Parents or
guardians should decide whether teenagers get piercings or tattoos and society must put a stop to
the idea of individualism in the minds of teenagers while getting back to the root of success;
respect, standards, and work ethic. Many adolescents that have body markings are more likely to
participate in high risk behavior and dangerous activities. According to a 58 question survey taken
by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Youth Risk Behavior Survey, Sean Carroll, a
pediatrician and writer for American Academy of Pediatrics claims, Participants with tattoos and/or
piercings were more likely to have engaged in risk taking behaviors and

4. Causes Of Internet Addiction
Shyness or Social Anxiety
People who are very shy and find it difficult to interact with others may develop an Internet
addiction because meeting people online seems less intimidating than face to face communication.
The desire for human connection is extremely powerful, even among people suffering from social
anxiety. Visiting forums and chat rooms gives them a way to develop relationships without directly
facing their fears and insecurity of being judged. They can carefully control how they are perceived
by others when they communicate online, even going so far as to create an alternate personality
that is not entirely based in reality.
Depression
Sometimes, depression can also be a cause of Internet addiction. Just as certain people ... Show

Some who are addicted to online relationships may even create pretend personalities or personas
of themselves. This is actually a dangerous practice because often the people who create these
fake lives are already low on self esteem or desperately seeking the approval of others. Instead of
seeking real help, say from a counselor, these individuals just pretend to be someone else online,
while changing nothing about their real offline lives. This can lead to increased symptoms of
depression and feelings of inadequacy.
Escape Mechanism
A person s thinking patterns and emotions play influential roles in driving addiction behaviors. This
is especially the case with an impulse control disorder like internet addiction. When it comes to
causes of internet addiction, thoughts and emotions rank at the top of the list. How a person
channels difficult emotions has a lot to do whether internet addiction becomes a problem issue.
As an escape mechanism, someone suffering from a depression or anxiety disorder can easily
get lost in a faceless online world. When that same someone experiences feelings of euphoria and
relief while online, the seeds for addiction are there. Causes of internet addiction can also stem
from relationship conflicts as the Internet becomes a way to escape from difficult situations. As
with all addictions, causes of internet addiction have a lot to do with a person s ability to cope
with life s challenges.

Often, especially in the winter months you may notice that raccoons, squirrels, wild rabbits,
skunks or even foxes roam around your backyard. They may threaten damage to your yard,
domestic animals, home, vehicles and even cultivation. That s why it s important to remove all
intruders and wild trespassers from your private zones. However, frequently wildlife removal
can be complicated and associated with a variety of issues. More and more people tend to resort
to the services of professionals, instead of doing the job themselves. If you are in the Ohio area,

will have to get an animal eradication permit. You should call the Conservation Police Officer or

is allowed only in cases when all other wildlife control methods have failed. You can also check
if your state s municipality has a relevant department for handling this type of cases. Wildlife

Chile, Democratic Republic of Congo and other parts of the world. The headquarters of this

To buttress this, Matthew confirmed that the virgin was found to be with a child through the Holy
Spirit (Matt. 1:18). In fact there are several incidences that took place which cannot make the virgin
birth of Jesus untrue. Isaiah prophesized long time ago about this birth, Joseph planned to
secretly end the relationship with Mary but the Angel spoke to him not to, Herod tried to kill
baby Jesus because of how great He was going to be but he could not, some wise men (shepherds)
were told about this child, Simon was told not to taste death until he sees this child and all this
came to pass.
Secondly, the belief and practice of teaching how to speak in tongues and believing it is a

saved and that is by believing in the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Paul and Silas were incarcerated,

9. Theme Of Morality In Trifles
Ethics and morals are two different things although quite similar. Ethics relate to the essence of
right and wrong according to the law. This is exhibited in the pre meditated murder that we see
in the play Trifles. Morals are related to personal standards. What may be morally right for one
person may not be morally right for another person. Morals are based on a person s upbringing,
their religion, and their personal beliefs. In Trifles, Sweat, and The Storm, Susan Glaspell, Zora
Neal Hurston, and Kate Chopin use symbolism to show, develop, and illustrate the theme of ethics
versus morals. Susan Glaspell uses the bird to justify the murder of Mr. Wright in Trifles.
Within the play there is a broken bird cage. This cage is symbolic of Minnie Wright s marriage.
She lives in the middle of nowhere with John. This isolation breaks Minnie Wright s spirit, just
like the cage is broken. In the story it says, She used to sing real pretty herself (986). Since
Minnie is out in the country with no one but John, that bird is her lifeline to the outside world.
She lives through that bird. John s oppression of Minnie, and the fact that he cold heartedly
killed her bird takes away her desire to sing, or dance, or dress pretty. Arthur Waterman states
She was figuratively strangled by John (3). In turn, Minnie literally strangles John with a rope in
his sleep. The women don t always find this action morally or ethically right. Mrs. Peters, in the
beginning, said But, Mrs. Hale, the law is the law (Glaspell 984). After finding out about the
bird, and pondering the situation among themselves, the women all agree with Minnie Wright.
It was justifiable homicide in their eyes, thus making it ethically and morally right in their eyes.
Hurston s Sweat uses the snake as symbolism, and to justify Delia s actions after Sykes is bitten.
In the story, Delia is a faithful Christian woman who is married to a devil like man named Sykes.
Hurston associates the snake to Sykes. The snake symbolizes Sykes representation of the Devil.
Sykes knows that Delia is scared of snakes. Delia tells Sykes, You know how skeered Ah is of
snakes. Course Ah Knowed it (1). Sykes not only torments Delia, he also cheats on her openly.

10. Ocular Dominance
Understanding the Effect that Ophthalmologic Diseases have on the Development, and
Maintenance, of Ocular Dominance Columns
Vessa Pearsall
TA: Austin Ferro; Section 005
March 22, 2017
Abstract:
It is well understood that ocular dominance columns are a group of neurons that preferentially
respond to the input from one eye over the other. When these groups of neurons converge onto
binocular cells found in other layers, binocular vision is produced. However, it is less understood
whether ophthalmologic diseases, specifically forms of astigmatism, strabismus and cataracts, have
an impact on the development and maintenance of these ocular dominance columns. Ocular
dominance columns were labelled with cytochrome oxidase, an enzyme used to identify ... Show

This enzyme will dye areas of high metabolic activity. This technique can be used to compare and
contrast the presence of ocular dominance columns in normal mammals with abnormal mammals
(i.e.: those with monocular, or decreased, vision).
Should include data using cytochrome oxidase to identify ODCs in patients with different
ophthalmologic disease.
Should talk about when cytochrome oxidase can be used (i.e.: alive versus dead) and the effect
that enucleation of an affected eye has on the presence of ODCs.
Conclusion: It can be concluded that ophthalmologic diseases do have detrimental impacts on the
development and maintenance of ocular dominance columns. This is due to the loss in binocular
vision, which is important for the development of depth perception as well as ocular dominance
columns. While monocular vision results in the shrinkage and disappearance of ocular dominance
columns, it would be interesting to see if ocular dominance columns could be re established if
binocular vision was

e.Build relationships. One of the important aspects of Social Media is building relationships with
followers, important groups and influencers. We recommend creating a list of target press, analysts,
customer groups, industry groups, partners and other influencers. One of the key goals is to start
conversations and create/nurture interest in your skills and services. This is a key area where we
recommend some additional strategies. While social media can generate some B2B leads, its
strongest potential lies in helping to nurture leads and move them down the funnel.
Content Recommendations:
Euclides has a solid foundation of original and curated content that covers the technical, service
and business advantages Euclides offers. There is a good mix of blog posts, white papers, e books
and thought leadership content. Euclides is already doing a great job using catchy titles and tips
content. We see a couple of areas for improvement.

12. Post Revolutionary America By Rosemarie Zagarri
The story of post revolutionary America, writes Rosemarie Zagarri, is the story of how American
women and men sought to define and ultimately to limit and restrict the expansive ideals they had
so successfully deployed against Britain. In this excerpt from Revolutionary Backlash, Zagarri
depicts the extreme radicalism of the American Revolution, while also suggesting that there were
some constraints to its extremism. Unlike the normal way of life in European government and
society, Americans desired a nation in which the inherent rights and freedoms of individuals were
recognized and respected. While these rights and freedoms were ultimately achieved, many groups
of people were still left out. Women of all kinds, people of color,... Show more content on

Since the concept that only wealthy white men are free individuals was a common idea in
European customs, many people argue that the American Revolution was not radical in terms of
Locke s theory. Despite his inclusion of property within his argument, Locke still contends for the
natural rights of all individuals. He does not include the right to own property with the intentions of
excluding women, colored people, or poor men. Locke s meaning is not that only people with
property have natural rights; instead, he includes the term property to claim that individuals of
every race, class, and background have the right to ownership, just as all individuals have the right
to life and liberty. Locke s idea is notably different from the normal concepts about liberty that
encompassed European culture during that time. Therefore, in regards to Locke s theory, the
American Revolution was radical. In addition, the way in which gender roles were altered during
the American Revolution provides evidence of its radicalism. Traditionally, women of any color
had no place within the realms of politics in European culture. Strictly white men of wealth were
allowed to participate in government activities. Zagarri points out that the American Revolution
triggered a continuing argument over the rights of upper class white women in American culture
and their

15. Scurvy Is Not A Disease
Scurvy is not a disease that is not talked about often. Before the twenty first century, scurvy was
prevalent in nearly every part of the world. With today s amazing advances in medicine, scurvy is
not generally a disease that most people in America or other civilized countries need to worry
about. While it is rare, scurvy does occur and it is incredibly treatable. The symptoms are reversible
and treatment is easy with the right amount of vitamin Cadded to the diet to offset what has been
missing. Scurvy is a disease that has been around since ancient times. Originally, there were
many different ideas about what caused scurvy. Genetics, toxins, the environment, and
infections were among many of the explanations for scurvy. Of all the people afflicted with
scurvy, the most numerous were sailors. Surgeons and doctors out at sea with the sailors were
among the first to be able to describe the disease in clinical detail and find a treatment that was
effective in clearing up scurvy. Sir James Lind, a surgeon for the British Navy, has been credited
with finding an easy way to treat scurvy; with lemons and oranges. While scurvy was extremely
common while out at sea, cases still came about on land as well. The people most effected by
scurvy on land were civil war soldiers, gold rushers in California, and Irish and English populations
during the Great Potato Famine. Scientists discovered an antiscorbutic factor that citrus fruits and

16. Deception In Much Ado About Nothing By William Shakespeare
Deception was an essential element in most of Shakespeare s plays, whether they are comedies,
histories or tragedies. The question here is; What is the dramatic effect of deception? Does it
always lead to a downfall? And did deception always inherently evil? In Shakespeare s plays,
deception had many different faces, it could be accidental, well planned, or self inflicted, it also
can be evil and pure. Obviously, using deceptionfor evil seems always to let to downfall, however,
deception is not always inherently evil, but can also be pure and used as a means to good ends. In
each of Shakespeare s four plays Much Ado about Nothing, As You Like It, Hamlet, and Macbeth
deception as a theme took many different forms, and lead to different ending in each play,
happy ending as it which is used for good, and downfall as it used for evil. In Much Ado about
Nothing, deception as a theme seems to surround the whole of the play, it has divided into both,
pure and evil deception. This appears in deceiving Claudio and Don Pedro that results Hero s
disgrace, and fooling both Beatrice and Benedick to believe that they love each other. Don John
plays an essential role of the deception as he was the one who deceive Claudio and Don Perdo to
distrust Hero, which lead to the rejection by Claudio of Hero in the wedding. I had rather be a
canker in a hedge than a rose in his grace, and it better fits my blood to be disdained of all than to

18. Analysis Of Everything That Rises Must Converge
Heather Chesbro
Instructor Kim Socha
Freshman Comp., sec. 34
14 September 2017
Who We Are In This New World When reading Everything That Rises Must Converge by
Flannery O Conner, most of us will readily agree that it is a story about a young man and his
mother. Where this agreement usually ends is when we ask if this was O Conner s intended theme.
Whereas some are convinced that the relationship between mother and child is the main theme,
others maintain that O Conner was focusing on these characters adapting to social change during
the Civil Rights era. I agree with the latter, that the central conflict of the story is that of social
change and how both the old and new generations adapt to these changes. Julian s mother is one of
the central characters in O Conner s story that we understand to have seen the most social change
during her lifetime. His mother s family once owned two hundred slaves and their own land, which
they ended up selling post slavery. Their family s wealth diminished, Julian s mother raised him
on her own while living in an apartment building in what was once a good neighborhood,
struggling to put her son through college. When debating whether or not it was frivolous to have
purchased a nice hat, Julian s mother states, With the world in the mess it s in it s a wonder we
enjoy anything. I tell you, the bottom rail is on the top (275). This is a phrase that refers to the
idea of black citizens gaining power in society post segregation, and was originally coined post
slavery. Julian s mother makes her prejudice apparent by implying the rise of black citizens
negatively impacts the quality of living for other members of society. Julian loathes his mother s
outlook on current society, noting that his mother doesn t know her current social standing.
When Julian s mother states, If you know who you are, you can go anywhere (275). Julian
replies harshly, Knowing who you are is good for one generation only. You haven t the foggiest
idea where you stand now or who you are (275). Julian describes his mother s life as struggling to
act like a Chestny without the Chestny goods, clinging to the standards of her old way of life.
Julian describes himself as saintly at times, an educated

By far Dana showed the most relevance to the novel. She impacted on Rufus s decisions and
made him think for himself. Dana is an African American woman in her late 20 s teleporting
back in time during the antebellum to her old ancestors, which later she discovers about, and
also is considered a slave. Dana has connected to every character throughout the novel. Rufus,
Sarah, Alice and many more. Throughout her journey to Maryland during the 1700 s and 1800
s she learned many things, like believing only in herself. To begin with, Rufus s life depended on
Dana, since she was the only one who knew how to help him every time he got into a problem.
The novel s chapters correlate with every situation Rufus got into; the river, the fire, the fall, the
fight, the storm, and the rope. The reason Dana saves Rufus s life is because later on she
discovers that he is her great, great ancestor whom she had to save, to save herself. This shows
the relevance of her presence there, not only she cared for Rufus, but also considered herself as
the one who supposed to help him. Another example that shows Dana s relevance in the novel is
by helping other slaves. For example, Alice, after the fight between Isaac and Rufus because of
Rufus s attempt to rape Alice who apparently was Isaac s wife. The reason this shows her
relevance to the novel because once again, she saves Rufus from being killed by Isaac after her try
to convince them to run and Rufus will let them escape without telling

22. Example Of Child Motivation For A Child Observation Of A...
For my field observation I visited a children s playgroup. It was a mommy and me type of
playgroup where the mothers would be with their children in the room while the children
wandered around and played. The group was run by my cousin s wife who I will refer to
throughout the paper as E. There was a total of 11 people at this playgroup. The ages of the
children ranged from six months to a little over five years old. All the children were caucasian and
came from a middle to upper middle classfamily. All the families I will talk about live in the
Northern Virginia region. I have changed the names of the children and their mothers for privacy.
The playgroup consisted of four different families. The first family consisted of E and her three
children. E has dizygotic twingirls who are three years old, and one more daughter who is one year
old. The second family consisted of the mother who I ll call S, and her three year old daughter. The
third family consisted of the mother who I will call L, and her two and a half year old daughter and
six month old son. The fourth family consisted of the mother who I will call M, and her son who
was a little over five years old. All the families who attended these playgroup sessions knew one
another. E and M are sisters, S is E s neighbor, and L is a friend of E. These group play sessions are
a biweekly event that occurs at E s house and are held in E s living room. E has set up the living

23. Themes In John Kennedy Toole s Confederacy Of Dunces
In the novel Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole there were many themes. For
instance racism, family, fate, education, wealth, and laziness were just a few. The theme I would
like to focus on being the theme about family. This novel was not very family oriented, everyone
seemed to just argue all the time about the littlest things. It made it seem like bickering was
easier than just getting along at times. There is are a couple of examples in this book where
whore was thrown around but every time it was directed towards family members. It seemed like
people knew what kinds of things pushed a person s buttons but they pushed their buttons anyway
because there was nothing else to do or they did it just so they could bicker. Mrs.Reilly was at

Family bickering and arguing never stops. Were families really like this back then ? This made
me wonder if all of New Orleans was like this or was it just this town. It seemed like everybody
in this town was miserable and wanted to make everybody else miserable. Everyone was so hateful
and mean. Even Ignatius s Girlfriend Myrna. They were so hateful to each other but at the end they
ran off with each other. She was sorta Ignatius hero. It is weird because they hate each other most
times and Ignatius does thing just to make her jealous but yet they run off together. This novel
makes you wonder about a lot of things. Such as if Ignatius and his mom argued so much why
does he continue to give her money. He is not a teenager. He is in his thirties, but he also still
takes baths in his thirties so he still might listen to his mother s every command. Even if he did
it just to support her to say why does he argue and be mean to her so much. Is that his way of
telling her he loves her ? This novel has left me with a lot of unanswered questions. Mostly about
why is everybody s priorities messed up ? Why does it seem like nobody respect the word

Medication errors are not only due to miscommunication, but also due to prescribing an incorrect
dosage, a potential adverse drug interaction, or a potentially fatal allergy to a medication.
According to the AHRQ, An adverse drug event (ADE) is defined as harm experienced by a
patient as a result of exposure to a medication, and ADEs account for nearly 700,000 emergency
department visits and 100,000 hospitalizations each year (Agency for Healthcare Research and
Quality, 2015). An EHR acts essentially as a second pair of eyes, ensuring that the prescription
medication for the patient is correct. With 76% of Americans over age 60 taking two or more
prescription drugs and 37% taking five or more, health IT can improve patient safety by evaluating
potential drug drug interactions and compensating for human errors in dosing (Consumer
Partnership for E health, 2013). Drug interactions may decrease the effectiveness of a medication,
increase the serious, adverse side effects of a medication, and more importantly increase the level of
toxicity a certain drug. For example, Bromocriptine is a drug used to treat menstrual problems,
growth hormone production, Parkinson s disease, and Type 2 Diabetes. Pseudoephedrine

The media is an umbrella term describing a whole world of technological advancement, and
holds a range of services that aid the spread of information. There s no doubt that the media has
done a lot to improve the lives of those who have access to it, one way or another, but what if
media and its usage in today s context is more damaging than beneficial? Just how damaging can
it really be? How can we be aware of these dangers? Once aware of these dangers, what can be done
to guarantee future adolescents don t fall deep into its pressures?
Social media, or media in general, is worried to be one of the main culprits that might contribute to
the rapid development of body dissatisfaction, and dietary restraint, especially among adolescent
girls (Masters, McLean, Paxton, Wertheim). In particular, higher use of appearance based Internet
can be associated with lower weight satisfaction and higher drive for thinness in fifteen year old
girls, as well as contribute to the internalization of appearance ideals and body surveillance
(Masters, McLean, Paxton, Wertheim). However, these are not the only dangers present.

30. Corporations Should Pursue Goals Creating Profit For...
Whether or not corporations should pursue goals besides creating profit for shareholders has long
been a matter of debate. For my part, the statement that The actions undertaken by a corporation in
the pursuit of shareholder wealth are justified, as long as they are not illegal is valid. The reasons
are presented below.
To begin with, a corporation is created for the purpose of creating wealth for shareholders. In terms
of property rights, shareholders that invested the principal are the joint owner of the tangible assets
and residual revenues of the corporation, with the management serving as the trustee for the
property. In Friedman s (197x) view, since the shareholder is the owner of the business, the

Dodd (xxx?) also argued that businesses must engage in social services, even at the expense of
profits, in order to serve the best interests of employees, creditors, customers, and other
stakeholders, as it appears that there exists a positive relationship between social and financial
performance (xxx?), and socially responsible business practices affect all aspects of business
operations and contribute significantly to corporate productivity and profitability (Website of
Business for Social Responsibility). In other words, a corporation should engage with social
interests in order to fulfil its social responsibility and to maximise long run profits.
In the case that there is no conflict between the search for profits and the general interest of society,
then a corporation can simply pursue both interests at the same time, and certainly the actions
undertaken in the pursuit of shareholder wealth are justified, so long as they are legal. For

action and reactions are increasingly visible and immediate. Companies are also under public

Unity of a Family Explored in The Grapes of Wrath
One would say that on a literal level The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck is about the Joad
family s journey to California during The Dust Bowl. However, it is also about the unity of a
family and the concept of birth and death, both literal and abstract. Along with this, the idea of a
family unit is explored through these births and deaths.
As can be seen in The Grapes of Wrath, the Joads are a very tight knit family. Yet on their trip to
California, they experience many losses and additions to their family. In general, Steinbeck s
novel abides by the circle of life. When a birth occurs, a death follows, and when a death occurs, a

In Chapter Thirteen, Grampa does die, as he was never truly the same once he left his land. This
is because the land goes back to Grampa s ancestry, and losing the land is like losing a family
member. This is the Joad family s first run in with death on their journey, yet Ma Joadstill manages
to keep the family together.
Moreover, in Chapter Thirteen, as the Joad family continues on their journey, they meet the Wilson
family. The two families decide to carry on with their trip together. It is at this point that Steinbeck
follows the pattern of the circle of life. Steinbeck begins by writing about the rebirth of Tom Joad.
Next, Grampa dies. Following this, there is a birth for the Joads when they add the Wilson
family to their own. However, as previously stated, in order to represent the hardships of the
journey, many more deaths than births occur in the novel. In Chapter Eighteen alone, Noah
leaves the family, the Joads continue on without the Wilson family, and Granma dies. It may
seem like these losses would tear the family apart, but Ma Joad understands the concept of
family, and tries her hardest to keep the family as one unit. For example, Ma Joad sits up all night
with Granma s dead body, jut so the family can cross the border. The fambly hadda get acrost (312).

35. Animal Rights And Human Rights
The idea that animals have rights seems to be heavily agreed on by a large majority of scholars
whom have studied this topic. However, what comes into question is understanding the severity and
range of these rights. How do we determine the level of animal rights? How do we understand
animal rights in relation to human rights? This paper aims to address these questions by showing
that animals have the basic rightsto live a life without harm, but cannot have equal rights to humans
because of our dependence on them and their inability to reason and communicate with humans.
Let s start with how humans think and then we will create a connection between human and
emotion and how animals feel. Humans are sentient beings, meaning they feel a wide range of
emotions, including happiness and pain. In general, we try to fill our lives with as much happiness
as possible while avoiding pain whenever we can. Peter Singer, a lifetime philosopher and advocate
of animal rights, states that animals are sentient beings as well (Singer 33). This means that
animals have the same interests in living a life of happiness and void of pain, just as humans do.
Assuming Singer s statement to be true, we can now state that animals feel happiness and pain, just
as humans do.
Now that we know that animals feel happiness and pain, we will show that humans should not put
animals through unnecessary pain. One of the hallmarks of human rights is that one human should
never harm another. When this right is

36. Master And Margarit The Genre Of Russian Socialist Realism
Master and Margarita The genre of Russian Socialist Realism is firmly tied up with the political
change that occurred in the Soviet Union in the 1920s and 30s, after the Bolshevik Revolution,
and has ruled every single masterful field until the separation of the Soviet Union in 1991. With
the new post progressive philosophies that were being put into utilization by the Soviet
government to energize the procedure of collectivization and industrialization, the requirement of
Socialist Realism as a primary scholarly classification was one of the critical methodologies
produced. This contributed to the push to make the new man who might ultimately share in an
excellently chronicled try called assembling Socialism. The Communist Party implemented an
order throughout all of the USSR, declaring that the primary worthy literature must be one that
is socially zakat, in order to signify social request/charge. This in turn infiltrated and absorbed
nearly all Soviet subjects, substance, and styles of composing that recreated the goals of social
development. The literature that was appropriate for the Party s points and held fast to their
demand is classified as the Socialist Realism sort. As a result, essayists who took after a socially
zakat style and delivered work were considered representatives of the state and any author

In The Nutcracker , we are introduced to this new instrument, which is the celesta. Tchaikovsky
once wrote to his publisher that the celesta was an instrument that was something between a piano
and a glockenspiel, with a divinely beautiful tone. The impact that Tchaikovsky s own works had
on the ballet set new standards for the classical ballet and the role of music within it. He set this
standard through his mastery of danseuse , or melodies which match physical movements perfectly,
vivid orchestration, effective themes, and continuity of thought (Classic Cat). Many of his well
known ballets, Swan Lake and The Nutcracker , are said to be enduring masterworks and
wonderful examples of nineteenth century classical ballet. Towards the end of the artistic life of
the nineteenth century, ballet began to take a steady position in Tchaikovsky s consciousness. In a
sense, both ballet and Tchaikovsky met one another in the middle. Through this genre of ballet
music, Tchaikovsky was able to bring his unusual way of thinking to life and embody real and

38. Number Talks Summary
Chapter one in the book Number Talks introduces the rationale for number talks and gives an
overview of the basis of what a number talk would look like in a classroom. Number talks can be
conducted in a small group or whole group setting. It is used to help children develop strategies for
solving math problems and to deepen their understanding of numerical relationships. The three
main goals of teaching through numbertalk sessions are to help students compute with accuracy,
efficiency, and flexibility (5). Chapter one gives examples of how to highlight different
strategies. For example, it was helpful to me to see the adding up strategy highlighted by a
number line. I often use this strategy myself with subtraction (only because I took MA 316). I
believe there is a great need in every elementary class for number talks. I took MA 316 and in
doing so it was very eye opening. Growing up, I was taught math through standard algorithms. I
was always amazed how other people just seemed to be good at computing numbers in their head.

39. The Benefits Of Safe Sex In Schools
I: Introduction
There have been many debates surrounding the proposition to teach safe sex and sexual health
in schools. It is a topic that many people have very strong beliefs and opinions on, and with an
increasingly liberal, open minded society there has been a large push towards incorporating safe
sex in schools and educating students on what safe sex is and how it can be done. A large
number of studies that have shown abstinence only policies are ineffective at preventing
pregnancy and the transmission of STDs, however many people still hold onto the belief that
when talking about sex in schools we should be teaching abstinence only because the only way to
prevent pregnancy and STDs is if you do not have sex at all and teaching about safe sex conflicts
with many student s religious beliefs. People who believe in abstinence only policies, or no sexual
education at all, also hold onto the belief that teaching safe sex education in schools will cause
students to experiment and have sex, whereas if they were not exposed to the discussion of sex in
school, they would remain abstinent. While abstinence is truly the only 100% effective means to
not getting an STD or pregnant, it is highly ineffective and doing our students more harm than good.
II: History
Teaching safe sex in schools dates back to 1916 when Maurice Bigelow wanted to promote
teaching about reproduction and sex in order to prevent the spread of Sexually Transmitted
Diseases (STDs). Bigelow also wanted to coerce students into waiting to have sex with someone
they love, in hopes to lower the number of people they have sex with, rather than having many
partners (Carter, 2001). The idea at this time was to teach sex to protect core, American family
values; however, Bigelow s view was incredibly progressive thinking. Sex had not been a topic of
classroom discussion before this time. III: Critical Media Literacy
The topic of safe sex tends to lean with political views. If someone who identifies as a
conservative, or tends to lean more to the right on the political spectrum, were to talk about sexual
education, in general they believe in abstinence only policies, teaching about sex at home and
leaving it out of schools, or omitting any discussion

approximately 22,000 square miles throughout the Amazon forest and foothills of the Andes
mountains. The Jivaro people consist of different smaller groups of people such as Achuar,
Humabisa, Aguaruan, Antipas, Mayna. The people can also speak over six languages: Jivoran,
Quechua, Shiwar, Achuar, Awajun, and Huambisa. The purpose of this study is to discern how the
history of violence to themselves and from others has impacted the Jivaroan way of life today. The

In the villages, they have little education, except those children who are sent to learn Spanish in
mission boarding schools, and programs with lessons taught on the radio. The people are mostly
taught to have skills to live in the Amazon. It is important to note that while those in Ecuador call
these people Jivaros in, some villages the people preferred to be called Shuar because Jivaro or
Jibaros can be alluded to mean savage or rustic. Some of the Jivaro people are not far from town;
therefore, their connection to people in the towns is not rare. For years, they have traded goods,
and land for more goods. Trading shrunken heads was also once common. In the 20th century,
once shurken heads was outlawed the heads started to become counterfeited for trade. There are
different ways to get to and around this community. In the village, it is easier to walk or bike,
but it is important to be aware of surroundings since all forms of transportation and livestock
share the road. It is possible to find some service in some spots of the area; however, payphones
can be used in towns. There are requirements that must be set to visit this community. It is easier
to access the Jivaro in Yaupi, as previously said, because it is a known that can visited by bus.

41. Essay On Alexander Mcqueen
Lee Alexander McQueen, CBE (17 March 1969 11 February 2010) was a British fashion designer
and couturier. He is known for having worked as chief designer at Givenchy from 1996 to 2001
and for founding his own Alexander McQueen label. His achievements in fashion earned him
four British Designer of the Year awards (1996, 1997, 2001 and 2003), as well as the CFDA s
International Designer of the Year award in 2003. McQueen committed suicide in 2010 at the age
of forty. [1]
McQueen was known for his lavish, unconventional runway shows. McQueen has been credited
with bringing drama and extravagance to the catwalk. He used new technology and innovation to
add a different twist to his shows and often shocked and surprised audiences. The silhouettes that
he created have been credited for adding a sense of fantasy and rebellion to fashion.
AVAT GARDE The brand ideology was never conventional and the designer almost always
experimented with new things to create out of fashion. Alexander McQueen was the man who made
the builder s bum fashionable. His bumsters , which appeared in 1996, spawned the trend in
perilously low rise, crevice revealing jeans. It was a look that spread and spread, although few
dared go as low as McQueen s signature buttock baring style. Hipster jeans became ubiquitous

to the Malayalam Poet Kumaranasan s much celebrated work Veenapoov . Which talks about the
same concept through a fallen flower and how it losses it s charm slowly. The poetic element in the

42. Food Stamp Program Pros And Cons
In 1965, United States Department of Agriculture s (USDA) Food Stamp Program (FSP) began
its organization to help low income families pay for food (Super). Yet, this program does not
provide the proper food choices in order for these families to get the necessary nutrients one needs.
Many people do not realize the negative affects foodstamps have when it comes to people s health.
Not experiencing something first hand makes it difficult for government officials to understand the
everyday struggle of low income families regards to buying groceries. Supporting oneself off
minimum wage is hard enough but having to support a family off nine dollars an hour is nearly
impossible. Millions of Americans struggle with money every day so they have to lean on
government support to get by.
Important aspects of the Food Stamp Program, or otherwise known as Supplement Nutrition
Assistance Program (SNAP) is the amount of money funded to each family, the time frame
recipients have to participate in SNAP and what the program offers within that certain budget. With
the budget provided by the government, some families still do not live comfortably. Parents are ...

Although the recipient is being provided groceries this does not mean the value of the food is
beneficial. Food stamps is not a health giving program. If someone is not eating the proper diet
the individual will be more sluggish making the daily routine less productive. Studies show food
has a big impact on the brain and the way the human brain thinks. (Conners) Researchers from
MIT, Princeton, Tufts University and many others have proven eating brain foods help replace loss
brain cells making memory become more functional. Adding to the impact on food, when a child is
young, the brain is still maturing. It is very important the child gets the protein intake one needs in

43. Yayoi Kusama s Narcissus Garden
Artist Yayoi Kusama s Narcissus Garden is an art installation which consists of 1500 convex
mirror globes tightly arranged in water reflecting and repeating the artist, the audience, and its
surroundings. The first exhibition took place at the 33rd Venice Biennale in 1966 and later on
around the world. Yayoi Kusama creates this masterpiece as an allusion to Narcissus in Ovid s
Metamorphoses. In Ovid s Metamorphoses, Tiresias, a blind seer, predicts that Narcissus, a
young boy, would live to ripe old age as long as he does not know himself (3.447). Narcissus is
desired by everyone: males, females, and even nymphs such as Echo. But Narcissus rejects
everyone s advances. Narcissus, worn out from people chasing him, rests near a spring and upon...

He dies in pain and transforms into a flower. Kusama s art installation relates to this myth as she
projects the audience and herself as Narcissus(es). With these convex mirror globes, Kusama
attempts to reveal the self love each person has for themselves. By revisiting the myth of
Narcissus and placing it in another mode of genre while challenging common art conventions,
Kusama attempts to display the sociological, psychological, and identity issues of her time. A
display of shimmering balls in water or field of grass does not seem to echo the Narcissus myth,
and yet Kusama s work is paratextual and hypertextual. Paratextuality is a term used by French
literary theorist Gerard Genette and is defined in Graham Allen s Intertextuality as all the elements
which stand on the threshold of a text (Allen 223). Kusama uses peritexts such as titles and labels
to draw the attention to Narcissus (Allen 100). When Kusama displayed her art, she placed two
labels next to it: Narcissus Garden and Your Narcissism for Sale . Her installation is also
hypertextual in that it involves the connection between the hypertext , a later text, with a hypotext
or earlier text (Allen 104) The word narcissus has multiple meanings which

Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
2/21/2015
Providing a place of employment has lead to numerous benefits for employers and employees.
When having a diversity of people working for a company, different types of personalities
intermingle with each other on a day to day basis. Even though having a diverse group of people
coexist in the workforce can serve a huge benefit to the company, it can also lead to problems
amongst coworkers. In order to make sure everyone is treated fairly, the Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission (EEOC) was created to enforce federal regulations for equality in the
workforce (smallbusiness). The EEOC pursues complaints about hiring or firing based off of
certain factors such as, race, religion, age, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

appropriate in the workforce. To avoid all of this confusion, during the on boarding process, all
new employees should sit in on either a lecture or video informing them what is and what is not

to preparing a response to the EEOC is to inform them that mediation will be taken place first. To
prevent any court fees and legal fees see if the situation can be resolved verbally as well educating
all employees on their rights. Even if the employee is an immigrant with a work visa, the law

45. Hemostasis Essay
Hemostasis is the stoppage of blood flow. In order to do this our body s rely on an adequate
amount of platelets, normal levels of coagulation factors, and absence of defects in vessels walls
(Huether and McCance 540).
In platelet disorders both quantitative and qualitative factors can interrupt normal blood coagulation
which prevent hemostasis (Huether and McCance 541). Quantitative abnormalities in a platelet
disorder would be an increase or decrease in the number of platelets disorders that are involved with
this issue are thrombocythemia and thrombocytopenia (Huether and McCance 540).
Thrombocythemia is an increase in the number of platelets and thrombocytopenia is a decrease in
the number of platelets (Huether and McCance 541). Qualitative disorders would be anything that
would prevent the formation of a platelet plug by preventing adherence and aggregation (Huether
and McCance 541). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Qualitative or quantitative abnormalities interfere with or prevent enzymatic reactions that
transform clotting factors, circulating as plasma proteins into a stable fibrin clot (Huether and

Willebrand disease and some are acquired and result from deficient synthesis of clotting factors
by the liver which is caused by liver disease and vitamin K deficiency (Huether and McCance
544). Other abnormalities in coagulation disorders are caused by pathologic conditions such as a
cardiovascular abnormality that alters blood flow. An example of this is thromboembolic disease
where blood clots block vessels (Huether and McCance 544). Vasculitis and damage to vessels
activates platelets which activates coagulation (Huether and McCance 544). Prolonged vasculitis

46. My Black Swan Analysis Essay
My Black Swan Analysis
The magnificent obsession can be one of two things. It can be a thing of beauty, a gifted ballet
dancer gracefully contorting their body to a harmonious pace. But it can also be a thing of
darkness, a face of white like Bergman s vision of Death with red, piercing eyes included. Director
Darren Aronofsky is no stranger to telling tales of obsession. In fact, most of his films deal with
the dueling sides of that fiery driven coin. With Black Swan, his latest film, he once again delves
into the mental state of one who is obsessed, and, once again, he creates a thing of visionary
brilliance. Black Swan, slow burn though it may be in the former half, quickly transcends both its
lead character and her story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The same goes for Black Swan, as he, as well as the screenwriters involved, gives us Nina, an
innocent girl with a determination. However, the obsession in Black Swan is not directly linked
to Nina s desire for celebrity. She doesn t necessarily want to be a dancer but rather is living out
a delegated fantasy from her mother, played here with solid enthusiasm by Barbara Hershey.
This disconnect the buffer that is created between Nina and the black swan role causes you to
feel for her even more than any of Aronofky s previous characters. This is her obsession, but it s
a means of giving her mother happiness, of finding a balance between what she wants for herself
and what will please the person whose fantasy is really being pursued. This relationship, as well as
all the relationships in Black Swan, is created with forceful pursuance. It s both in the way
Aronofsky shoots his characters as well as the highly gifted actors he incorporates into them.
Natalie Portman, always on top of her game, pulls out everything for Nina here. Innocent to edged,
mousy to fearless, light to dark, she bulls through the range in performance required of her, but it is
pulled off with the absolute grace that is appreciative of the character involved. In this dark
masterpiece, she brings the light, and it becomes all the more heart wrenching when her light
begins to fade. This dichotomy and the volatility that

47. Magnesium Sulfate Lab Report
This experiment was performed in order to help in the learning of the different types of reactions.
Through this experiment we also learned about precipitates: these are the solids that form during
a reaction. Making a hypothesis wasn t the easiest because there are a total of 6 different
experiments put all into one class activity. We hypothesized that each of these experiments will
give us either a synthesis or single replacement reaction. The variables weren t that hard to
determine; the independent variable were the reactants and the dependent variables were the
products of the reaction. The safety hazards were upped because we were dealing with harmful
chemicals and glassware. Goggles and aprons were required to be worn in order to prevent... Show

Silver nitrate and copper metal led to the formation of silver precipitate. We also observed a
color change towards the bottom where the copper was located. These results support that the
type of reaction was single replacement. The second experiment with hydrochloric acid was an
example of decomposition. We observed that the substance started to bubble and so a gas was
produced. In the third experiment Iron oxide was formed. We observed rust on the outside as a
result of the oxygen combing with the iron. This can best be described as synthesis. In the next
experiment we discovered that calcium chloride and magnesium Sulfate produce a substance that
looks like milk after it foams. As a result, we contemplated that this was an example of double
replacement. In reaction 5 with Zinc and hydrochloric acid we saw that the new product was
introduced through bubbling. So we decided that this was single replacement. The final experiment
was the easiest experiment in my opinion. Closing the candle stick and flame with a beaker resulted
in visible smoke. In conclusion, we agreed that this reaction was combustion. We observed that
reactions have many different ways to take

This is a well received price point. We will offer a better product, more focused in driving more

Financial and Resource Analysis There are three groups of resources that will be needed for this
venture to succeed. The first is cash. An initial investment of $15,000 will be needed to help get
the venture of the ground and sustain it in its first quarter. Based on financial projections, there
should be no further infusion of cash needed. The second resource is data. We will need to
compile or survey treatment centers and professionals for basic data about their practice in order
to populate our site to make it useful on a base level. The third resource is technical and design
experience. This resource is what creates the product that will be used by both practitioners and
those searching for treatment.

51. Investigating The Osmotic Regulation On The Kidney
The purpose of the experiment is to test the fluid balance in the body, by studying the osmotic
regulation in the kidney (Manuguid, et al., 2015) Also, test the changes in urine pH, urine flow rate
and specific density among non drinking and drinking groups.
The main purpose of avoiding food and drink prior to the lab was to eliminate the effects that
could occur in the class data, reduce the amount of error and to get a fair result by having
everyone start at the same time. If each student did not monitor or follow the correct procedure, this
would have affected the result by having a lot differences in the rate of urine flow, urine density and
the pH level. Therefore, we wouldn t have an accurate results to make any kind of conclusion out
of it and we will have a result in a wide range. All the groups drank according to their weight and
this affected the result in terms of their osmolarity, hormone secretion, and urine flow rate because
all the groups ingested different amount of the drinks. Based on the result from table 1, the
physiological state of the subjects at T0 was negative for blood, ketone, glucose and protein. In
figures 1 4, all of the subjects pH level was about 6; urine volume rate and urine voided is about
the same amount for all the groups.
There were changes in the variables between T0 and T30 because at T0, we started with no drinks
and we saw that the non drinking group and drinking groups had about the same level of the urine
flow rate at T=0. At
