Explain the Origin and the Concept of †Neighbour...
ASSIGNMENT QUESTION 2 Explain the origin and the concept of Neighbour Principle .
Illustrate with decided cases the application of this principle. Above all, I want to explain the
Neighbour Principle . Lord Atkin stated his famous neighbour Principle as was that You must
take reasonable care to avoid acts or omissions which you can reasonably foresee would be likely
to injure your neighbour `.This is sometimes known as the neighbour principle. By `neighbour`,
Lord Atkin did not mean the person who lives next door, but `persons who are so closely and
directly affected by my act that i ought to have them in contemplation as being so affected when i

This is probably the most famous case in legal history. Why? a) It destroyed the privity fallacy.
This idea laid down that where the defendant was liable to one person for breach of contract, he
could not be liable to a third party in tort for the same act or omission. On the facts of the case
the defendant would have been liable to the friend for breach of contract in selling him a
defective product, if the friend had suffered damage. By creating a tortious duty to the plaintiff,
the House of Lords began the removal of the privity fallacy from English law. b) .A new
category of duty was created: that of manufacturers of dangerous products to their ultimate
consumers. This is known as the narrow rule. c) Lord Atkin stated his famous neighbour test as
a general test for determining whether a duty of case existed. This is known as the wide rule.
Not every accident producing injury gives rise to liability for negligence. Some accidents cannot
be avoided even with the exercise of reasonable care. An accident that results from a defendant s
sudden and unexpected physical ailment, such as a seizure or a blackout, generally relieves the
defendant of liability for harm caused during his period of unconsciousness. However, defendants
who have reason to know of such medical problems are expected to take reasonable precautions
against the risks the problems

CHAPTER 4
SIBLINGS RELATIONSHIP
Overture to sibling s kinship
The relationship between siblings is a critical relationship. The sibling relationship is one of the
longest lasting relationships in most people s lives and one of the most prevalent (Avidan, p21).
The sibling relationship has many delicate and intricate issues like conflicts, rivalry, despite these
negative impacts this relationship is one of the closest relationships. The siblings help one another
and give emotional support when it is needed. The quality of sibling kinship is closely associated
with social development and the psychological characteristics of the children. Also, in this aspect it
does not matter whether the kinship between the siblings is developing either by ... Show more

Specifically, Tan uses sisterhood as a structure for the representation and regulation of cultural
differences among women. The Hundred Secret Senses does not offer an admired development of
sisterhood but rather gives a refined investigation of the philosophy of sisterhood and stresses the
impact of the sister relationship in creating ethnic consciousness and identity. For Tan, sisterhood
envelops biological bonding as well as poignant cultural heritage. The bond between the two half
sisters in The Hundred Secret Senses is loaded with equivocalness created by synchronous
sentiments of equality and difference. Psychologically, Olivia, the sister who typifies the ethnic
other, has been perceived as a fundamental piece of the American self. The key occasions in her
psychological development her isolation from Simon, her refusal of her heritage and rejection of
her sister, her guiltiness, her developing valuation for Chinese culture, and her longings towards
meaningful kinships are all associated with her sister Kwan and their advancing relationship. Kwan
turns out to be, in the expressions of Downing, an oblivious manual for Olivia s trip toward self
and psyche, that is, toward an expanded consciousness of her roots and ethnic

Effects Of Divorce On Children And Divorce
In today s world, most people accept divorce or separation as a way of life. Parents are unaware
or do not understand the damage it can have on their children. However, in some instances, it is
better to get out of an abusive relationship because that can be as toxic as divorce. On average,
50% of children who are born with married parents, will experience divorcebefore the age of 18
(Children and Divorce Baucom, 2010 2017). Along with divorce statistics, 40% of children in
America are raised without a father being present (Children and Divorce Baucom, 2010 2017).
Children who are raised in broken homes are more likely to have health related problems,
behavioral issues, and physical and emotional damage (Children and Divorce Baucom,... Show

If your child has had a routine that they are content in, changing the routine may lead to some of
the issues that are mentioned by Ferber. They may refuse to eat or have a loss of interest in certain
activities and that is their actions in rebelling to the situation. Sometimes they may react in ways to
get their parents attention because they may feel like they have been forgotten in the middle of all
of the chaos. In such instances, the child can benefit from seeing a licensed counselor to get
professional help with these negative behaviors (Redmond, Ferber, Love To Know, 2017). Through
experience and education, Donna Ferber thinks that children can benefit from a divorce or
separation under certain circumstances. However, through psychological evaluations, it has been
found that children experience behavioral issues when a divorce or separation occurs.
All children may experience behavioral issues at certain ages throughout their lives. Terrible two
s, terrible three s, meltdowns of young children, and outbursts of teenagers are all very common.
Adding stress and bad environments can increase these bad behaviors that are shown by children.
Depending on their age, the behaviors may be different from one child to another. A child at age
12 who are experiencing parents divorce at age six is different

ways that the term nigger was used by her family. For one example, she explained in the essay that
the word was always applied to a man who had distinguished himself in some situation that bought
their approval for his strength, intelligence, or drive. Further along in the essay, she stated how the

Community Maintenance Plan Paper
Revitalizing our neighborhoods is as important as getting people into homes. Broken
neighborhoods with streets in need of repair, limited access to shopping areas, few job
opportunities, and despair seeping around every corner is not good for either individuals or
communities.
I plan on using the Year of Giving as part of the plan to combat this. Our nation s youth will go
into these areas and clean them up, plant gardens, and help support new services that I hope to
bring to each of these areas.
These communities will also be given priority in city maintenance plans. Targeting issues, such as
repairing roads, water and sewer services, mass transit, and upgrading the electrical systems for
more solar and wind initiatives.
Getting jobs into these neighborhoods is also important. And the best way to do that is to
encourage small businesses to set up shop in these areas. Low interest loans and other
considerations will be given to people who wish to open a business, with priority given to those
who are residents of that community.
I would like to see city planners work with local residents to bring the kind of services and
businesses each community needs to thrive. Using local, state and federal money, we will build up
our communities and improve living conditions for all of our citizens. Living in low income areas

Engineering Assignment Of The Hyatt Regency Hotel Project
Ethics in Engineering Assignment ENGR 100/CSCI 100 Fall 2017 Assignment #6 Name Student
ID Class Time Date Submitted Introduction Hyatt Regency Hotel project was designed and built by
the Crown Center Redevelopment Corporation(CCRC). CCRC selected Gillum Colaco
International Inc. as the consulting structural engineer, PBNDLM Architects, Planners Incorporated
as the architects and Eldridge Construction Company as the general contractor (Brunet, 2007).
Some of the companies chosen to carry out the different responsibilities in the project
subcontracted the work as they saw fit. The project was divided into three aspects: design team,
construction team, and a safety inspection team (Two Rods Don t Make It Right, 2008). The hotel
design consisted of a 40 story tower section, a function block, and a connecting atrium with three
hanging walkways (Brunet, 2007). Gillum Colaco International Inc. made structural drawings and
the initial sketches for the walkways showing some of the design criteria to be used for fabrication,
but the latter was not provided to the fabricator (Havens Steel Company) (Brunet, 2007). Once the
fabricator had received the information which was incomplete, the design of the box beam hanger
rod connection was redesigned. Havens model was based solely on the AISC manual and did not
take into consideration load bearing calculations and other specification that would have been given
by the structural engineer. The Haven Steel Company then

Research Paper On Why Leslie Van Houten Deserve To Walk Free
Why Leslie Van Houten deserves to walk free.
Picture this...You re nineteen years old with nowhere to call home, your mothers left you
traumatised and permanently scarred. You re alone in the big bad world. Fragile, vulnerable and
powerless. Does any teenager really have life s answers? Or are they aimlessly searching for them
from somewhere or someone else? Cast yourself back to when you were nineteen, if someone had
entered your life offering all the answers, don t tell me you would ve turned them away. Leslie Van
Houten was just nineteen years old when she fell under infamous cult leader Charles Manson s spell.
She thought he could give her the answers everyone so desperately seeks at that tender age. A year
after joining the Manson Family Van Houten was involved in the 1969 murders of Leno and
Rosemary LaBianca. Under Manson s orders Van Houten stabbed Rosemary approximately 16
times. She was found guilty of murder and is now serving life in prison. In September 2017 Van
Houten was granted parole. She now faces a one hundred and twenty day review period. At the end,
it will be decided whether or not she is fit for release. I believe that Leslie should walk free and be
allowed a second chance at life.
Leslie Van Houten s upbringing was extremely influential in her crimes. I m sure you ll agree
your childhood also largely impacted your future. While in high school Leslie was forced into
using drugs. Drug usage at an early age can cause severe mental defects as the

President John Tyler Essay
President John Tyler How many people actually know of the tenth president, John Tyler? Well, I
bet not very many so I am here to give some facts. Do you know where and when he was born?
Hmmm, I thought so. He was born on March 29, 1790, in Charles City County, Virginia. This fine
man graduated from the College of William and Mary at the age of seventeen. Not impress
enough? In addition, he went on to study law and became an employee for a prestigious law firm
in Richmond. At the age of twenty one, Tyler used his father s connections to obtain a position in
the Virginia House of Delegates. This southern aristocrat... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unsurprisingly enough, they did win and Harrison assumed presidency while Tyler became the
Vice President. Their slogan was Tippecanoe and Tyler too. Hmmm, doesn t that ring a bell? Are
you with me so far? No, not yet? Well, then, let me continue. Harrison gave his inaugural speech
out in the cold and wearing neither a coat nor a hat. Unfortunately, he became ill and died a
month later. Of course, Tyler immediately assumed into presidency. Considering this event was a
first in history, many felt that he was merely an acting or temporary president. He gained the
nicknames of His Accidency and Accidental President. Fear of alienation from Harrison s
supporters, His Accidency kept the entire cabinet although he knew there were a few that hated
his guts. He vetoed a bill of resurrecting the Bank of the United States, which made everyone
much more furious. Henry Clay expelled Tyler from the Whig Party, called him a traitor, and
attempted an impeachment. Daniel Webster in the other hand stayed and supported Tyler. Who s
a traitor now? Despite all the loathing, Tyler did not loose his confidence and stubbornness. He
knew what was right for the country and did not fear to use his power. After all, he was the
president. He also vetoed two bills for higher tariffs and worked on annexation of Texas. He signed
the Texas statehood bill into law on the first day of March 1845. The Americans

Ticket Sales May Not Be The Majority Of An Organization
Ticket sales may not be the majority of an organization s revenue, but it can be one of the most
important departments. A professional sports team s fan base affects factors from merchandise
and memorabilia sales to on the field factors like home field advantage. Ticket sales get fans into
the venue where they can spend more money and create an atmosphere for the team to succeed.
The Ticket Operations text talks about some good characteristics of a good pricing plan. When
setting prices for tickets you do not want to set ticket prices too low because the value of them
will be squandered and you will set the expectations of prices to be the same moving forward. If
you set prices to high, you risk losing fans to alternatives, like online services such as Stubhub
and VividSeats. Tickets to an event should be viewed as bait. The key is that when you set your
prices, you set the idea that an event or experience can be luxurious or just a night at the ball
game. (Reese, 2012) After purchasing tickets, fans get tickets to come enjoy a game, but once
they are in you expose them to other revenue sources. They have the opportunity to spend their
money on merchandise, concessions and even tickets to future games. There are even revenue
sources before they walk into the ballpark like stadium/arena parking. For teams that are winning
or with a rich history, the ticket sales process can be very easy. (Reese, 2012) The case study talks
about the process of the ticket sales for the

Introduction The early childhood education is a field that has been rather slow to take up the
challenge of sustainability; it has a potentially significant role to play not because of underlying
concerns for children s welfare, but because of interest in children s environments and its attention
to social justice. Recently, a new dimension has been added to early childhoodeducationfor
sustainability (ECEfS) as an emerging national and international field, given a fillip with the launch
of the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005 2014) (UNESCO,

In his book The Great Didactic (1657) he introduced what is now considered one of the first
descriptions of an educational system tailored for young children. In Comenius view learning
through the senses was the best way to teach during early childhood. He believed that before
reading about the object of study a child should first touch, see, taste or hear it. According to
Comenius, there should not be any gender or social class discrimination in education. He paid
specific attention to individual differences among children; he believed that a child s
development depended on his or her natural inclinations and that one and the same method would
not work with each child. Comenius system of education included four levels spanning from
infancy to adulthood. Each level outlined the educational experience needed by a person at each
stage of development. This idea was new and became the foundation of other scholars works on
the concept of early childhood education. Jean Jacques Rousseau believed in education according
to the ways of nature. He felt that education should be focused more on sensory and rational
experiences than on literary and linguistic ones. One of Rousseau s most famous quotes proclaims
that Our first teachers are our feet, our hands and our eyes. To substitute books for all these...is but
to teach us to use the reasons of others . In his view education for young children

Essay on Satire in Catch-22 by Joseph Heller
Catch 22, by Joseph Heller, is a fictitious novel that depicts life on an American bomber squadron
on Pianosa, an island off the coast of Italy, during the closing years of World War II. A bombardier
by the name of Yossarian, the main character in the story, is joined by many others to create a
comic drama unlike any other. But aside from the entertainment, Heller uses Catch 22to satirize
many aspects of everyday life that consist of hypocrisy, corruption, and insanity. From the laziness
of policeman to the fake happiness brought about by money, the novel is painted with a great
number of points targeted against the faults of modern society. However, along with these smaller
targets, a majority of the Heller s satirein the novel is aimed... Show more content on

Nevertheless, in the eyes of Colonel Cathcart and Colonel Korn, they see themselves risking their
lives for America, but they do not even go on combat missions and all they are really only
responsible for is shuffling papers. Through these characters, Heller satirizes how corrupt and
unfair that system is, where essentially random men are called upon to control other random men in
an dictatorial bureaucracy. Human nature is yet another target of Heller s satire in the novel and is
seen throughout many different characters. Heller explains to the reader, through this method of
satire just how selfish and greedy men are and become during the war. Chief White Halfoat
recollects his past life in the States where him and the rest of his Native American kinsmen would
not be allowed into certain hotels because of their ethnicity. He states to Yossarianin a serious and
convicted manner that racial prejudice is a terrible thing and that it is terrible to treat a decent,
loyal Indian like a nigger, kike, wop or spic (53). Chief White Halfoat is against racism but refuses
to have an open mind toward other races and only cares about Indians, which results in Chief White
Halfoat being a racist himself. This is seen in modern American society today

A Comprehensive Analysis behind the Law and Ethics of the Shelf Life Extension Program
Background
Within the last two decades, the United States has witnessed a dramatic increase in bioterrorism,
including Sarin gas attacks in Tokyo, the anthrax attacks post September 11th (Bodas, et al.,
2012). To prepare for a potential bioterrorism attack, or large scale national emergency, large
supplies of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies are stockpiled (Lyon, Taylor, Porter, Prasanna,
Hussain, 2006). This stockpiling of medical supplies is a crucial aspect of the Medical Readiness
Strategic Plan, established under the Department of Defense Health Affairs and the Military
Medical Departments (Lyon, Taylor, Porter, Prasanna, Hussain, 2006) MORE
Contrariwise to national preparedness, preserving large quantities of medical supplies and
medications can be costly, and frequent replacement of resources due to manufacturer shelf life
expiration dates has proven to be a great challenge.
Historical Perspective
In 1981, the United States Military began stockpiling large quantities of critical pharmaceuticals
and medical supplies (Khan, et al., 2014). Following an audit of the stockpile in 1985, the
Government Accountability Office found that $9 million of medications were about to reach their
labeled expiration date, and would need to be discarded (Khan, et al., 2014). This audit exposed the
extraordinary costs associated with the replacement of expired medications, and in an effort to

Path Of War Essay
The only time wherein the United States became a war theater was during the American Civil
War in the late 1800s. Today, Path of War makes it the location of another war, and it doesn t fail
to deliver. Although it would be horrible if cities like Chicago, San Francisco, and Nevada were to
become war torn battlefields, the game lets you take these cities for yourself, and use them as a
slingshot to take down the oppressive regime that has taken over the United States.
Path of War has a dystopian setting: it is set one year after a large scale cyber terrorist attack on
America, with the country now under a tyrannical administration. It does not provide anything

By doing so, you can also reach the end goal, Washington D.C., quicker and easier, especially if
you have to deal with droves of enemies that come your way.
Although the game is pretty promising, it does have its gripes. Since it s a freemium game, the
developer seems to be doing everything it can to make you buy and spend premium currency. For
example, the mundane task of upgrading a building takes three hours or more, and plus, you can t
even save time by upgrading multiple structures at the same time. We understand that Envision
Entertainment wants to maximize profits, but it wouldn t be surprising if numerous players quit
after a few hours.
Furthermore, the progression is slow and clunky and the premise of marching on to Washington is
barely achievable, thanks to its fuel system. Want to launch an attack? It costs a certain amount of
fuel. Want to inch closer to Washington? It costs five times the overall amount you generate per
hour.
Overall, Path of War is a decent RTS game and offers a fresh perspective in the genre with its base
building and unique battle system. However, truly enjoying it may require you to constantly
purchase premium currency from time to time. Onward to

Compare And Contrast Unfolding Bud And Nothing Gold Can Stay
In Nothing Gold Can Stay the author is discussing natures first green and how it is golden and
never lasts long. Likewise in Unfolding Bud it is comparing an unfolding bud to poetry,
gradually unfolding. In both the poem Nothing Gold Can Stay and the poem Unfolding Bud the
author uses nature to develop the theme of living life to it s fullest by using comparisons,
symbolism, and imagery. The poem Unfolding Bud conveys the theme of enjoying the golden
part of your life with the use of analogy. The author writes, One is not amazed, At a first glance,
By a poem, Which is as tight closed As a tiny bud. This quote shows the author comparing a
poem to a tightly closed flower bud. Koriyama also writes, Yet one is surprised To see the poem

Describe the three great Native American civilizations that existed in the Americas prior to
European contact.
Historians believe that the population of Native Americans within South America surpassed that of
North America, as such the three great Native American civilizations were located in this region.
The Mayans, Aztecs, and Incas all created societies with unique cultures in Yucatan Peninsula,
Mexico, and Peru respectively. Each made strides in trade and science while maintaining their large
civilizations.

the Western Hemisphere.
As a result of living during the Renaissance, Columbus was privy to many of the technological
advancements of the time which made the journey to explore the Western Hemisphere possible. For
instance, Europeans began to adopt different inventions from the Chinese such as the sailing

Analysis Of The Garden Of Earthly Delights
Art is all around us and whether we notice it or not we are always evaluating, deconstructing, and
deciding on if we like it or not. The Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymus Bosch is a triptych
done in the Renaissance period. A triptych is a painting or relief carving that has three different
panels and are hinged together side by side. I first came across this paintingin my art history class
in high school and from then on I loved it due to all the imagery, colors, and the overall meaning
that it had. Ever since then this artwork has left a big imprint and got me to think about art as
much more than a picture, but to look at it as a whole and analyze it. This painting always
seemed interesting and intriguing for a couple of reasons. There are many themes going on, the
colors are very monochrome but yet look vivid and life like, and it has a very deep meaning
with the themes of mortality, sin, and shows the end results for evil doings. The triptych has
three different panels and all three have their own story to tell. When the triptych is closed and
both left and right sections are shut you see the world in tones of gray or neutral colors. At the
uppermost left corner of the closed sections you can see a depiction of God looking down at the
world with an open book in his hands. The first one on the left tells the story of how God
introduced Adam to Eve. They are shown to be in a beautiful and surreal looking location which is
thought to be paradise. Adam, Eve, and God

The Valley of Elah is best known for the being the site of a famous biblical battle between David

of Elah. The battle was between David, a small shepherd boy who represented the Israelites and
Goliath, a heavily armed giant who stood for the Philistines. The valley sits between Mount Shocho

Support Kindergarteners Understanding Of Three Dimensional...
This lesson is designed to support kindergarteners understanding of three dimensional shapes. The
students will be able to identify three dimensional shapes, and tell if they stack, slide, or roll.
Before anything was edited from my video it was 1hour long. I edited out the second group/center
doing the same thing I did with the group that is in my video. Starting out I was really nervous
about being in kindergarten, because I have mainly been in the upper grades during clinical and my
first experience of studentteaching. There was a lot I learned from first experience in different
areas where I needed to grow as a future teacher. I took all of the comments from my mentor
teacher and university supervisor, and applied them to this second experience so I could
improve and find other areas I need to strengthen. As I was videoing this lesson I found myself
so focused on the group that I was videoing, that some of the other groups were getting a little
loud. One thing I need to work on is to not let videoing keep me from correcting other students
when they need reminded to stay on task. This is something new that I felt like I struggled with
this second video, because in kindergarten they do centers. When I was in my first experience it
was just I teaching whole group to third graders, and they knew the expectations from their teacher
and myself.
One of my strengths that I have is my voice projection being strong. I have always had a lot voice,

The Perimeter Of The United States
Pusan Perimeter Beginning on August fourth of 1950, and lasting until September eighteenth of
the same year, the North Koreans waged a battle against the United States and UN forces. The
UN forces along with the United States were forced back to the Pusan Perimeter, a defensive
line set up around the very southeastern tip of the Korean Peninsula. Inside of this protected
area was the port of Pusan. The UN troops, which consisted of the Republic of Korea, The United
States, and the United Kingdom, were forced to retreat to the Pusan Perimeter between August
first and third, 1950. The US troops fought their very best when they were on the roads and in
formation. The US troops also fought best with heavy equipment. The major difference when it
came to the North Koreans was that many were skilled at guerrilla warfare, having learned to
fight it against the Japanese during their occupation of Korea, and they were skilled at such
things as nighttime attacks and were more mobile fighters than the UN troops. The NKPA,
which stands for North Korean People s Army, were a group of soldiers that used a lot of
infiltration. They were good at getting into the enemies forces and killing them from inside their
own bases. The Eighth Army in Korea outnumbered the NKPA, which forced the North Korean s
to recruit the help of people from some of their occupied South Korean cities. These people had no

Jefferson Vs Hamilton Vs. Hamilton
Jefferson vs. Hamilton Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton lived in a time where things in
the United States were not extremely stable, and the Declaration of Independence was yet to be
set in stone. Jefferson and Hamilton had two separate and different lifestyles and views of the
government. Jefferson was born approximately 12 years earlier than Hamilton, on April 13, 1743
in the English Colony of Virginia. Since his father was wealthy, Jefferson received the best
education possible and had a very simplistic childhood. On the other side, Hamilton was born on
approximately January 11, 1755 on the island of Nevis, in an unsteady home where his father was
not successful and drifted out of his life. Not only did their differences in the way Jefferson and
Hamilton were brought up differ, especially their ideas and views on government and the
Constitution. Jefferson, our first Secretary of State had differing ideas on government that

he favored a small government and states rights. Today, he would have been part of the Republican

Feeding the Growing World Population
The quotations taken from Josh Schonwald and Marion Nestle support an alternative food system,
which includes technological methods to feed the growing world population while also protecting
the environment. Although both believe alternative food systems could be the change of our future,
each approach these subjects differently. Schonwald is not afraid to keep an open mind with the use
of technology, while Nestle focuses on important choices one needs to make for the environment.
Both of these come down to four factors that determine if alternative foodsystems should be
accepted. These factors include: food, environment, globalization and gender. The reasoning behind
this is that the journey our food goes through encounters the men and women and their roles. On top
of that is how our food choices affect the environment, our healthand the local, even global
communities in which we live.
Food is a very important role when discussing alternative food systems. Not only does food keep
us alive everyday, it can provide many health benefits. As stated by Schonwald, We will soon have
a hamburger that won t cause heart attacks, but will stop them. How? You ll just take out the
saturated fat, and replace it with omega 3 fatty acids (Schonwald 125). Schonwald turns to
technology when looking at the our future food system. One example of this is petri dish meat.
Schonwald believes this will eliminate food borne illnesses because the production of meat can be

Dartmouth College Vs. Woodward
Dartmouth College v. Woodward (1819) Living in the 1800 s was not an easy task. This was the
time of child labor and little to no education for kids. The time of having to walk 2 3 miles
anywhere and making sure the crops were well enough to sell in the markets. The time of Westward
Expansion and the genocide of Native Americans. Eleazar Wheelock, a Puritan minister from
Columbia, CT was the one who founded Dartmouth. He initially established the school to train
Native Americans as Christian missionaries. His inspiration for the school first came about due to
his relationship with a Mohegan Indian Samson Occom. The name of the school was to be Moor s
Indian Charity School and was officially established in 1755. It was somewhat successful, but they
still needed more funding in order to maintain the schools operations. Wheelock and Occom
decided to go to England in 1766 to raise money for the school. Once they raised enough, they
made a trust to help the school. The Charity School finally had enough financial support to keep
going. But Wheelock had trouble recruiting Native Americans to attend the institution due to the
location being far away from the tribal territories. He decided to relocate the school to Hanover, in
the Province of New Hampshire. Following the relocation, it was difficult to find resources and
secure a charter. Luckily, the Royal Governor of New Hampshire, John Wentworth, provided the
land that Dartmouth would be built on and issued a charter in the name

Pros And Cons Of Gambling Addiction
Gambling addiction can be a serious a problem, for some more than others. Some have the self
control to know when enough is enough, and then some don t. After reading the article it is safe
to say that Mr. Watanabe had some serious issues. Not only did he have a serious gambling
problem, he also had a drinking and drug problem. These two together is not a good combination.
This was not your normal gamblingissue, this was the biggest loss in Vegas history of 127 million
dollars! Seeing this from an outsider s perspective, there are two different ways you can look at
the situation. You can either feel sorry for him and feel that he was treated wrongly and unlawfully,
or one can feel no remorse for him and that he brought it all upon himself. After much thought, I
have a firm stance that what was going on in those casinos was one, illegal and two, outright just
wrong. Mr. Watanabe was absolutely taken advantage of.
As a young boy Mr. Watanabe had a wealthy family was a very successful business man and was a
chief executor of his father s business by the age of 20. After years of owning this business he sold
it for millions and decided he wanted to have fun for a while and be stress free. Gambling is fun,
right? He began gambling at a Harrah s casino in Iowa back in 2003. He was one of the casinos
biggest gamblers at the casino and everyone knew him very well there. He had also traveled to
Vegas to gamble and that s where his serious gambling, drug and alcohol abuse began.

Franco Zefferelli s film Hamlet Essay example
Franco Zefferelli s film Hamlet
Franco Zefferelli s film, Hamlet, adapted from Shakespeare s text, Mel Gibson s Hamlet, struts and
frets his life in Denmark, convincing almost everyone that he is mad. The film bases the question of
whether or not Hamlet is actually insane almost solely on Gibson s acting interpretations, but
Zefferelli s editing choices assist in making the point that Hamlet is not insane, but either in a fog
of confusion and anger from his grief, or pretending to be mad to manipulate others.
In the film, the morning after Hamlet sees his father s ghost, there is a silent scene between Ophelia
and Hamlet. He appears to Ophelia, disheveled and obviously emotionally distressed. He seems to

The play within a play succeeds at catching the conscience of the King (3.1.582). In the film,
Hamlet dances exultantly with the players and says to Horatio joyfully, I ll take the Ghost s
word for a thousand pound (3.2.263 4). Claudius reaction to the play of running out and then
going to confession makes Hamlet believe that Claudius did, in fact, murder King Hamlet. In the
final two acts of the film, Mel Gibson rarely descends into fits of rage and depression. Instead, he
puts on the act of madness by appearing playful or irrational around other characters to help him in
the process of revenge.
Hamlet abuses Polonius assumption that Hamlet is mad by constantly behaving as such around
him. In the film, he appears disheveled, engages in wordplay, and even throws Polonius off a
ladder. Mel Gibson s acting choices make it clear that Hamlet is merely pretending because, as
soon as Polonius is out of sight, he usually has a ponderous soliloquy devoid of the mad
mannerisms present with Polonius. This manipulation is especially present in the scene in which
Hamlet tells Ophelia that he never loved her (3.1). In the film, Hamlet sees the king, queen, and
Polonius run to hide and watch the conversation. During the scene, Hamlet tells Ophelia sotto
voce, I did love you once (3.1.116). Then, he yells, I loved you not (3.1.119 120). Gibson s change
in volume and tone of voice proves that he is not fickle, a

As I Lay Dying Modernism Analysis
Modernism is a set of cultural arrays and tendencies of associated cultural movements in a
changing society. It is believed to originate from wide scale and far reaching changes to Western
civilization in the late 19th and early 20th centuries the years following World War1. Modernism
involves breaking from the past set of established rules, traditions and conventions in search of
new forms of expression and man s functions. New ideas in politics, psychology and philosophical
theories are the main factors that led to a search for new modes of expression. Characterized by

The Impact On The Music Industry
Streaming Sights Profit, While Creators Barely Get By
Music streaming sites, such as Pandora and Spotify, have a negative impact on the music industry
as a whole. Streaming affects more than just the music business itself, it astronomically decreases
industry revenues, steals from and devalues the worth of the creators and their content, and is run
from a poor business model that is only profitable for streaming companies.
Not only do streaming sites directly disturb the music industry as a whole, but they also affect the
U.S. gross domestic product, or GDP, a good portion of which, about 11% is comprised of
copyright revenue. A large part of copyright revenue is produced from sound recording copyrights,
typically owned by labels, and from musical works copyrights, typically owned by publishers. When
streaming sites pay their miniscule amounts, they pay revenues directly to the holders of the
copyrights, essentially creating a loss for not only the music industry, but also the copyright
industry.
Companies such as the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) regularly post revenue
statistics that include income from CDs, streaming, downloads, cassettes, SoundExchange, and
every other profitable area of the business. What they show is shocking; revenue has decreased by
more than 50 percent, from around $15 billion to just under $7 billion. When sites pay miniscule
amounts, such as .006 to .0084 cents (Spotify) or .000017 cents (Pandora) per stream, the total

The Genocide In Armenia
There are more than one ways that the holocaust is very similar to the Genocide in Armenia. Like
Hitler, The Turkish government had devised and set into motion a plan to exterminate more than
one million of turkeys Armenians. Like the holocaust in Germany, the genocide in Armenia had a
lot to do with religion and in almost a super similar situation to the holocaust, it all started to go
bad when a group called the young Turks decided they wanted all the power and wanted any
religion but theirs out of turkey. By April of 1915 hundreds were arrested and thousands were taken
from their homes and put on death marches without food and water through the desert and just like
in the holocaust, people were also tortured and killed in very cruel manors.... Show more content on

In the years following, the Bosnian Serb forces started prosecuting the Bosniak and Croatian
people. This caused the deaths of more than 100,000 civilians by 1995.It has multiple similarities to

genocide since the holocaust. Somewhere between 20,000 and 50,000 women were raped and they

The Birthday Party By Harold Pinter
Harold Pinter s The Birthday Party is a play which sheds light on the pathology of abjection and
violence both physical and verbal and its effect on its victim Stanley the protagonist of the play.
Stanley is an artist who has isolated himself from a totalitarian state or organization for reasons left
undisclosed in the playby Pinter. Since Pinter as a Jew grew up during the time of the Holocaust
and the Second World War, Stanley seems to represent the author s existential anxiety. It can be
assumed that the fear of the materiality and fragility of identity and existence caused by totalitarian
states and social pathologies like War, Holocaust, poverty, racial discrimination or any human rights

I don t think it is all that surrealistic and curious because surely this thing, of people arriving at the
door, has been happening in Europe in the last twenty years. (qtd. in Esslin 36)
This knock at the door is suggestive of the trepidation and helplessness felt by the Jewish
communities in Europe on account of the genocide triggered during the Nazi regime. The knocking
device is also indicative of an entry into the world of the abject to destroy its threatening
physiognomies and to force it to conform to the prevailing norms and standards of the society.
When the door is opened two mysterious emissaries, Goldberg and McCann enter and along with
them enters the menace which destabilizes the miserable apathy of the boarding house and Stanley s
initial hostile melancholy transitions later into a nervous breakdown. Goldberg and McCann who
represent an unnamed organization come to the boarding house to do a job. Pinter as usual does not

leaves out the details so that the readers can question the legality and sanctity of the building blocks

Differences Between Italy And England
Although Italy and England are definitely two different countries, they share some similarities such
as some geographical aspect, culture and customs. However, despite the differences between the
two countries, both of them has its own unique history which changed how they look today. Both
part of the EU, Italyand England are an example of how culture evolves and changes the shape of a
country under every aspect. In fact, both England and Italy have been influenced by each other in
the last 30 years.
Geography
Despite some similarities, geography is very different in the two countries. Both are bathed by the
seas since England is part of an island while Italy is a peninsula connected to Europe through the
Alps in the north of the country. Italy is located in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea and it is the
4th most populous state in the EU due to its 61 million inhabitants. On the other hand, England
shares it borders with Wales and Scotland and covers more than a half of the island of Great
Britain, which lies in the North Sea.
Due to the stretched shape and the great longitudinal extension, the Italian climate is highly diverse
though out the whole territory. Regions on the coasts and most of the southern regions generally
fits the Mediterranean climate stereotype unlike the inner and northern regions. Italy is extremely
rich in biodiversity and has the one of the highest number and density of both animal and plant
species within the European Union (Pignatti 2000).

Elizabeth Inchbald s A Mogul Tale
The year 1784 found an earnest young female playwright, Elizabeth Inchbald, sitting down to pen
what would become her first success as a writer humbly titled A Mogul Tale.1[1]. The story
involves what appears to be an outlandish plot, since it is a farce which revolves around a party of
London ballooners who accidentally land in the seraglio of a great mogul2[2]. But applied research
finds that Mrs. Inchbald had indeed done her homework, for the dynasty of the Mughals (as
modernity has changed the spelling) really did exist. In researching the great Mughal Dynasty in
India, one finds that Inchbald s work appears to be less fantastic, and even more plausible as an

Humayun only just managed to regain his father s territories before his death and the accession
of his thirteen year old son, Akbar, whose forty nine year reign laid the foundation of empire,
and the development of a new style of architecture.8[8] Akbar proved to be one of the greatest
leaders in all of northern India, as he decisively defeated the Afghans and firmly established
Mughal supremacy.9[9] Akbar established in the empire a more solid administrative system and
he proved to be a hero of the people in many ways. He showed himself to be, as well as a
humanitarian, a general. He removed the personal taxes imposed on his subjects and appointed
many of them to high places of power and prestige both in civility and in the military. He believed
that the ruler was the guardian of his subjects, and so he went to great lengths to take care of his
people, regardless of their religion.10[10] Having thus established the Mughal throne to a greater
extent than any of his predecessors, Akbar s death proved to be no threat at all to its survival. In
1605, Akbar s son Jehangir (previously named Salim ) laid hold of the Mughal throne and
functioned very successfully, thanks to his father s organizing genius.11[11] Jehangir also proved
to be a great leader, like his father, and was known for his great sense of justice.12[12] With few

OBSERVABLE EFFECT OF REGENERATION PROCESS ON THE ECONOMY
The Scottish Government has set up suitable programmes to create a sustainable environment
through the Sustainable Glasgow initiative. This initiative is set up to deliver a project programme
that the main plan is to develop the economy by making direct contact with the city, people and
businesses to open up more investments and help tackle possible challenges. This development is
believed to be the factor to the major drive to improvement of Glasgow s future economy,

Sustainable development as defined by the Brundtland Report (WCED, 1987) is the development
that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet
their own needs (Diesendorf, 1999). The initiative that involves the sustainable development of
Glasgow is set up to improve the living standard of the future generation by setting up a system of
development at city level. This will take on both the private and public interests to show the
breadth and scale of the issues faced in a flexible business environment. Using the principle of

Analysis Of The Film The Flies By F. Scott Fitzgerald
Artistically speaking, this film is beautiful. There was a lot of thought put into every detail from
the actors to the camera shots. The film seems to flow in beautiful manner from one scene to the
next. One piece of art in the film is the use of symbols. Each symbol is delicately placed in order
to make sense to any viewers that can pick up on them. One symbol is Nick s obsession with his
Peace Lily. It represents his obsession with the job. It is the only other thing he cares for because
its needs are simple and by the books. When he breaks it, it is supposed to symbolize his change of
heart; that somebody has taken the place of the lily. Another symbol in the filmis the number 3.
There are 3 murders that take place before people believe Nicholas. There are 3 people Nick tries
to talk to in order to get out of being sent to Sanford. Many lines are repeated 3 times over. This
could be in reference to fairytales always using the number 3, since this plot seems far fetched
like a fairytale. However, it could also be in reference to the trilogy of films that Wright and Pegg
made together. Then, there is the swan symbol. Swans typically symbolize grace, beauty, and
peace. In the film, though, the swans symbolize an overbearing distraction. Nicholas is constantly
surrounded by them in the hotel he stays at, which is rightly called The Swan Hotel . He is also
charged with the task of catching an escaped swan. This causes him to miss many chances to catch
the perpetrators of

Informative Speech On Henry Ford
I am here to tell you about Henry Ford and how he made the Ford Motor Company famous.
Henry Ford was born on July thirtieth, eighteen sixty three at his dad s farm in Wayne County
Michigan. Henry s parents were William Ford and Mary Ford. William was an Irish
businessman and Mary died while giving birth to her last child. Henry had four siblings, two
brothers and two sisters. His sisters were Margaret Ford and Jane Ford. His brothers were William
Ford Jr. and Robert Ford. Henry attended local private schools as a young boy and also attended a
private grammar school. Later Henry attended Bryant and Stratton Business College. As Henry
Turned sixteen he became a machinist and had became interested in automobiles. A few years later

One of the first automobiles and probable one of the most successful was the Model T. This
automobile was reliable but since it was one of Henry s first it was a little high in price. In
nineteen o nine Henry started to mass produce the Model T and it was a big hit. The original
cost of the Model T when Henry first started producing them was eight hundred and fifty dollars.
This may sound very cheap today but this was very expensive in the early nineteen hundreds.
With this cost Henry was not impressed and only met half of his goal. Henry tried to meet his
goal by creating a chain of conveyer belts to move parts through the factory faster, more
efficiently, and at a steady pace. Henry also had a new idea he wanted to try with having only
one person perform a single and small task. With Henry having one person per task he was going
to need hundreds of people to work, but Henry had no trouble with that because he was paying
five dollars a day to the people who worked in his factory. By making these simple adjustments to
the way Henry produced the automobiles, it cut the time that it took to assemble them
tremendously. The time to assemble a new Model T went from a long twelve and a half hours in
nineteen twelve to a very short one hour and a half in nineteen fourteen. This was amazing for
Henry but this only brought the price down a little bit, this meant not everyone or most people
could afford it. Henry decided to try to get the cost lower and he soon succeeded by making his
own glass and steel. This brought the cost down but also made sure the product where tough and
were exactly what Henry needed for his automobiles. By making his own materials it brought the
price down to five hundred and fifty dollars in nineteen thirteen. Henry still thought the price
needed to be lower so everyone could afford to have a Model T. By nineteen fifteen the

/2010| | Segregation and Discrimination in the United States Military during World War Two
Thesis: Although the U.S. military has been a leader in desegregation and in other social
matters, during World War Two fear and prejudice keep many highly qualified people from
serving. This weakened every branch of the military by limiting it to a less diverse and therefore
less flexible fighting force. 1. History of the U.S. Military a. Leader in social matters i. Inclusion

This simple act should not be overlooked. It was possibly the first time that any high ranking
political figure had gone out their way to ensure that blacks were not mistreated and was seen
by many as a bold and risky move on Lincoln s part. Not everyone was welcome in the U.S.
military. Women in particular were heavily restricted. Women could only serve as nurses and
then nowhere near an active combat zone. Black women, who could not formally join the Army,
nonetheless served as nurses, spies, and scouts, the most famous being Harriet Tubman. When
the Civil War began, Tubman worked for the Union Army, first as a cook and nurse, and then as
an armed scout and spy for the 2nd South Carolina Volunteers. She was the first woman to lead
an armed expedition in the war for America. She led a Union raid on the Combahee River in the
interior of South Carolina on June 2, 1863. This single raid was credited with freeing over 750
slaves was a humiliating blow to the Southern cause and a major morale booster for the North.
Tubman will always be remembered for her role in the Underground Railroad but her service to
the military in a time of war should never be forgotten. The history of black soldiers did not
change much until December 7th 1941. On that terrible day forces of the Japanese Imperial Navy
attacked the United States Naval Base at Pearl Harbor. This single attack plunged the U.S. into the
Second World War and changed

  • 2. Explain the Origin and the Concept of †Neighbour... ASSIGNMENT QUESTION 2 Explain the origin and the concept of Neighbour Principle . Illustrate with decided cases the application of this principle. Above all, I want to explain the Neighbour Principle . Lord Atkin stated his famous neighbour Principle as was that You must take reasonable care to avoid acts or omissions which you can reasonably foresee would be likely to injure your neighbour `.This is sometimes known as the neighbour principle. By `neighbour`, Lord Atkin did not mean the person who lives next door, but `persons who are so closely and directly affected by my act that i ought to have them in contemplation as being so affected when i am directing my mind to the acts or omissions which are called in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is probably the most famous case in legal history. Why? a) It destroyed the privity fallacy. This idea laid down that where the defendant was liable to one person for breach of contract, he could not be liable to a third party in tort for the same act or omission. On the facts of the case the defendant would have been liable to the friend for breach of contract in selling him a defective product, if the friend had suffered damage. By creating a tortious duty to the plaintiff, the House of Lords began the removal of the privity fallacy from English law. b) .A new category of duty was created: that of manufacturers of dangerous products to their ultimate consumers. This is known as the narrow rule. c) Lord Atkin stated his famous neighbour test as a general test for determining whether a duty of case existed. This is known as the wide rule. Not every accident producing injury gives rise to liability for negligence. Some accidents cannot be avoided even with the exercise of reasonable care. An accident that results from a defendant s sudden and unexpected physical ailment, such as a seizure or a blackout, generally relieves the defendant of liability for harm caused during his period of unconsciousness. The sibling relationship is one of the longest lasting relationships in most people s lives and one of the most prevalent (Avidan, p21). The sibling relationship has many delicate and intricate issues like conflicts, rivalry, despite these negative impacts this relationship is one of the closest relationships. Specifically, Tan uses sisterhood as a structure for the representation and regulation of cultural differences among women. The Hundred Secret Senses does not offer an admired development of sisterhood but rather gives a refined investigation of the philosophy of sisterhood and stresses the impact of the sister relationship in creating ethnic consciousness and identity. For Tan, sisterhood envelops biological bonding as well as poignant cultural heritage. The bond between the two half sisters in The Hundred Secret Senses is loaded with equivocalness created by synchronous sentiments of equality and difference. Psychologically, Olivia, the sister who typifies the ethnic other, has been perceived as a fundamental piece of the American self. The key occasions in her psychological development her isolation from Simon, her refusal of her heritage and rejection of her sister, her guiltiness, her developing valuation for Chinese culture, and her longings towards meaningful kinships are all associated with her sister Kwan and their advancing relationship. Kwan turns out to be, in the expressions of Downing, an oblivious manual for Olivia s trip toward self and psyche, that is, toward an expanded consciousness of her roots and ethnic ... Parents are unaware or do not understand the damage it can have on their children. However, in some instances, it is better to get out of an abusive relationship because that can be as toxic as divorce. On average, 50% of children who are born with married parents, will experience divorcebefore the age of 18 (Children and Divorce Baucom, 2010 2017). Along with divorce statistics, 40% of children in America are raised without a father being present (Children and Divorce Baucom, 2010 2017). They may refuse to eat or have a loss of interest in certain activities and that is their actions in rebelling to the situation. Sometimes they may react in ways to get their parents attention because they may feel like they have been forgotten in the middle of all of the chaos. In such instances, the child can benefit from seeing a licensed counselor to get professional help with these negative behaviors (Redmond, Ferber, Love To Know, 2017). Through experience and education, Donna Ferber thinks that children can benefit from a divorce or separation under certain circumstances. However, through psychological evaluations, it has been found that children experience behavioral issues when a divorce or separation occurs. All children may experience behavioral issues at certain ages throughout their lives. Terrible two s, terrible three s, meltdowns of young children, and outbursts of teenagers are all very common. • 6. Community Maintenance Plan Paper Revitalizing our neighborhoods is as important as getting people into homes. Broken neighborhoods with streets in need of repair, limited access to shopping areas, few job opportunities, and despair seeping around every corner is not good for either individuals or communities. I plan on using the Year of Giving as part of the plan to combat this. Our nation s youth will go into these areas and clean them up, plant gardens, and help support new services that I hope to bring to each of these areas. These communities will also be given priority in city maintenance plans. Targeting issues, such as repairing roads, water and sewer services, mass transit, and upgrading the electrical systems for more solar and wind initiatives. Getting jobs into these neighborhoods is also important. And the best way to do that is to encourage small businesses to set up shop in these areas. Low interest loans and other considerations will be given to people who wish to open a business, with priority given to those who are residents of that community. I would like to see city planners work with local residents to bring the kind of services and businesses each community needs to thrive. Engineering Assignment Of The Hyatt Regency Hotel Project Ethics in Engineering Assignment ENGR 100/CSCI 100 Fall 2017 Assignment #6 Name Student ID Class Time Date Submitted Introduction Hyatt Regency Hotel project was designed and built by the Crown Center Redevelopment Corporation(CCRC). CCRC selected Gillum Colaco International Inc. as the consulting structural engineer, PBNDLM Architects, Planners Incorporated as the architects and Eldridge Construction Company as the general contractor (Brunet, 2007). Some of the companies chosen to carry out the different responsibilities in the project subcontracted the work as they saw fit. The project was divided into three aspects: design team, construction team, and a safety inspection team (Two Rods Don t Make It Right, 2008). The hotel design consisted of a 40 story tower section, a function block, and a connecting atrium with three hanging walkways (Brunet, 2007). Gillum Colaco International Inc. made structural drawings and the initial sketches for the walkways showing some of the design criteria to be used for fabrication, but the latter was not provided to the fabricator (Havens Steel Company) (Brunet, 2007). Once the fabricator had received the information which was incomplete, the design of the box beam hanger rod connection was redesigned. Do you know where and when he was born? Hmmm, I thought so. He was born on March 29, 1790, in Charles City County, Virginia. This fine man graduated from the College of William and Mary at the age of seventeen. Not impress enough? Unfortunately, he became ill and died a month later. Of course, Tyler immediately assumed into presidency. Considering this event was a first in history, many felt that he was merely an acting or temporary president. He gained the nicknames of His Accidency and Accidental President. Fear of alienation from Harrison s supporters, His Accidency kept the entire cabinet although he knew there were a few that hated his guts. He vetoed a bill of resurrecting the Bank of the United States, which made everyone much more furious. Henry Clay expelled Tyler from the Whig Party, called him a traitor, and attempted an impeachment. Daniel Webster in the other hand stayed and supported Tyler. Who s a traitor now? Despite all the loathing, Tyler did not loose his confidence and stubbornness. He knew what was right for the country and did not fear to use his power. After all, he was the president. He also vetoed two bills for higher tariffs and worked on annexation of Texas. He signed the Texas statehood bill into law on the first day of March 1845. The Americans ... A professional sports team s fan base affects factors from merchandise and memorabilia sales to on the field factors like home field advantage. Ticket sales get fans into the venue where they can spend more money and create an atmosphere for the team to succeed. The Ticket Operations text talks about some good characteristics of a good pricing plan. When setting prices for tickets you do not want to set ticket prices too low because the value of them will be squandered and you will set the expectations of prices to be the same moving forward. If you set prices to high, you risk losing fans to alternatives, like online services such as Stubhub and VividSeats. Tickets to an event should be viewed as bait. The key is that when you set your prices, you set the idea that an event or experience can be luxurious or just a night at the ball game. (Reese, 2012) After purchasing tickets, fans get tickets to come enjoy a game, but once they are in you expose them to other revenue sources. They have the opportunity to spend their money on merchandise, concessions and even tickets to future games. There are even revenue sources before they walk into the ballpark like stadium/arena parking. For teams that are winning or with a rich history, the ticket sales process can be very easy. Introduction The early childhood education is a field that has been rather slow to take up the challenge of sustainability; it has a potentially significant role to play not because of underlying concerns for children s welfare, but because of interest in children s environments and its attention to social justice. Recently, a new dimension has been added to early childhoodeducationfor sustainability (ECEfS) as an emerging national and international field, given a fillip with the launch of the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005 2014) (UNESCO, 2005). In his book The Great Didactic (1657) he introduced what is now considered one of the first descriptions of an educational system tailored for young children. In Comenius view learning through the senses was the best way to teach during early childhood. He believed that before reading about the object of study a child should first touch, see, taste or hear it. According to Comenius, there should not be any gender or social class discrimination in education. He paid specific attention to individual differences among children; he believed that a child s development depended on his or her natural inclinations and that one and the same method would not work with each child. Comenius system of education included four levels spanning from infancy to adulthood. Each level outlined the educational experience needed by a person at each stage of development. This idea was new and became the foundation of other scholars works on the concept of early childhood education. Jean Jacques Rousseau believed in education according to the ways of nature. He felt that education should be focused more on sensory and rational experiences than on literary and linguistic ones. A bombardier by the name of Yossarian, the main character in the story, is joined by many others to create a comic drama unlike any other. But aside from the entertainment, Heller uses Catch 22to satirize many aspects of everyday life that consist of hypocrisy, corruption, and insanity. Human nature is yet another target of Heller s satire in the novel and is seen throughout many different characters. Heller explains to the reader, through this method of satire just how selfish and greedy men are and become during the war. Chief White Halfoat recollects his past life in the States where him and the rest of his Native American kinsmen would not be allowed into certain hotels because of their ethnicity. A Comprehensive Analysis behind the Law and Ethics of the Shelf Life Extension Program Background Within the last two decades, the United States has witnessed a dramatic increase in bioterrorism, including Sarin gas attacks in Tokyo, the anthrax attacks post September 11th (Bodas, et al., 2012). To prepare for a potential bioterrorism attack, or large scale national emergency, large supplies of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies are stockpiled (Lyon, Taylor, Porter, Prasanna, Hussain, 2006). This stockpiling of medical supplies is a crucial aspect of the Medical Readiness Strategic Plan, established under the Department of Defense Health Affairs and the Military Medical Departments (Lyon, Taylor, Porter, Prasanna, Hussain, 2006) MORE Contrariwise to national preparedness, preserving large quantities of medical supplies and medications can be costly, and frequent replacement of resources due to manufacturer shelf life expiration dates has proven to be a great challenge. Historical Perspective In 1981, the United States Military began stockpiling large quantities of critical pharmaceuticals and medical supplies (Khan, et al., 2014). Following an audit of the stockpile in 1985, the Government Accountability Office found that $9 million of medications were about to reach their labeled expiration date, and would need to be discarded (Khan, et al., 2014). The Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymus Bosch is a triptych done in the Renaissance period. A triptych is a painting or relief carving that has three different panels and are hinged together side by side. I first came across this paintingin my art history class in high school and from then on I loved it due to all the imagery, colors, and the overall meaning that it had. Ever since then this artwork has left a big imprint and got me to think about art as much more than a picture, but to look at it as a whole and analyze it. This painting always seemed interesting and intriguing for a couple of reasons. There are many themes going on, the colors are very monochrome but yet look vivid and life like, and it has a very deep meaning with the themes of mortality, sin, and shows the end results for evil doings. The triptych has three different panels and all three have their own story to tell. When the triptych is closed and both left and right sections are shut you see the world in tones of gray or neutral colors. At the uppermost left corner of the closed sections you can see a depiction of God looking down at the world with an open book in his hands. The first one on the left tells the story of how God introduced Adam to Eve. They are shown to be in a beautiful and surreal looking location which is thought to be paradise. Adam, Eve, and God ... Although both believe alternative food systems could be the change of our future, each approach these subjects differently. Schonwald is not afraid to keep an open mind with the use of technology, while Nestle focuses on important choices one needs to make for the environment. Both of these come down to four factors that determine if alternative foodsystems should be accepted. These factors include: food, environment, globalization and gender. The reasoning behind this is that the journey our food goes through encounters the men and women and their roles. On top of that is how our food choices affect the environment, our healthand the local, even global communities in which we live. Claudius reaction to the play of running out and then going to confession makes Hamlet believe that Claudius did, in fact, murder King Hamlet. Streaming affects more than just the music business itself, it astronomically decreases industry revenues, steals from and devalues the worth of the creators and their content, and is run from a poor business model that is only profitable for streaming companies. Not only do streaming sites directly disturb the music industry as a whole, but they also affect the U.S. gross domestic product, or GDP, a good portion of which, about 11% is comprised of copyright revenue. A large part of copyright revenue is produced from sound recording copyrights, typically owned by labels, and from musical works copyrights, typically owned by publishers. Like the holocaust in Germany, the genocide in Armenia had a lot to do with religion and in almost a super similar situation to the holocaust, it all started to go bad when a group called the young Turks decided they wanted all the power and wanted any religion but theirs out of turkey. By April of 1915 hundreds were arrested and thousands were taken from their homes and put on death marches without food and water through the desert and just like in the holocaust, people were also tortured and killed in very cruel manors.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the years following, the Bosnian Serb forces started prosecuting the Bosniak and Croatian people. This caused the deaths of more than 100,000 civilians by 1995.It has multiple similarities to the holocaust because it was religion motivated, government supported, and was the biggest genocide since the holocaust. Somewhere between 20,000 and 50,000 women were raped and they also buried thousands in huge mass graves. Rwanda 1994, Shortly after Rwandan President JuvГ©nal Habyarimana and Hutu President of Burundi Cyprien Ntaryamira were killed in a plane crash, the Hutu ethnic majority of Rwandan massacred up to 800,000 civilians who were mostly the Tutsi minority. Like with the holocaust, the motivating factor for the genocide was race and religion. • 35. The Birthday Party By Harold Pinter Harold Pinter s The Birthday Party is a play which sheds light on the pathology of abjection and violence both physical and verbal and its effect on its victim Stanley the protagonist of the play. Stanley is an artist who has isolated himself from a totalitarian state or organization for reasons left undisclosed in the playby Pinter. Since Pinter as a Jew grew up during the time of the Holocaust and the Second World War, Stanley seems to represent the author s existential anxiety. It can be assumed that the fear of the materiality and fragility of identity and existence caused by totalitarian states and social pathologies like War, Holocaust, poverty, racial discrimination or any human rights abuse causes Stanley to become paranoid and... I don t think it is all that surrealistic and curious because surely this thing, of people arriving at the door, has been happening in Europe in the last twenty years. (qtd. in Esslin 36) This knock at the door is suggestive of the trepidation and helplessness felt by the Jewish communities in Europe on account of the genocide triggered during the Nazi regime. The knocking device is also indicative of an entry into the world of the abject to destroy its threatening physiognomies and to force it to conform to the prevailing norms and standards of the society. When the door is opened two mysterious emissaries, Goldberg and McCann enter and along with them enters the menace which destabilizes the miserable apathy of the boarding house and Stanley s initial hostile melancholy transitions later into a nervous breakdown. Goldberg and McCann who represent an unnamed organization come to the boarding house to do a job. Pinter as usual does not tell the readers what their job actually is and what the organization stands for. He deliberately leaves out the details so that the readers can question the legality and sanctity of the building blocks of all organizations social, political, cultural etc. Likewise Pinter does not give any information about Stanley s past. Though the present is an outcome of past contemplations and actions, Pinter does not reveal the past as he wants the audience to think about the various ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, despite the differences between the two countries, both of them has its own unique history which changed how they look today. Both part of the EU, Italyand England are an example of how culture evolves and changes the shape of a country under every aspect. In fact, both England and Italy have been influenced by each other in the last 30 years. Geography Despite some similarities, geography is very different in the two countries. Both are bathed by the seas since England is part of an island while Italy is a peninsula connected to Europe through the Alps in the north of the country. Italy is located in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea and it is the 4th most populous state in the EU due to its 61 million inhabitants. On the other hand, England shares it borders with Wales and Scotland and covers more than a half of the island of Great Britain, which lies in the North Sea. Due to the stretched shape and the great longitudinal extension, the Italian climate is highly diverse though out the whole territory. Regions on the coasts and most of the southern regions generally fits the Mediterranean climate stereotype unlike the inner and northern regions. Italy is extremely rich in biodiversity and has the one of the highest number and density of both animal and plant species within the European Union (Pignatti 2000). ... Elizabeth Inchbald’s A Mogul Tale Essay Elizabeth Inchbald s A Mogul Tale The year 1784 found an earnest young female playwright, Elizabeth Inchbald, sitting down to pen what would become her first success as a writer humbly titled A Mogul Tale.1[1]. The story involves what appears to be an outlandish plot, since it is a farce which revolves around a party of London ballooners who accidentally land in the seraglio of a great mogul2[2]. But applied research finds that Mrs. Inchbald had indeed done her homework, for the dynasty of the Mughals (as modernity has changed the spelling) really did exist. In researching the great Mughal Dynasty in India, one finds that Inchbald s work appears to be less fantastic, and even more plausible as an event that could have, indeed, ... Humayun only just managed to regain his father s territories before his death and the accession of his thirteen year old son, Akbar, whose forty nine year reign laid the foundation of empire, and the development of a new style of architecture.8[8] Akbar proved to be one of the greatest leaders in all of northern India, as he decisively defeated the Afghans and firmly established Mughal supremacy.9[9] Akbar established in the empire a more solid administrative system and he proved to be a hero of the people in many ways. He showed himself to be, as well as a humanitarian, a general. He removed the personal taxes imposed on his subjects and appointed many of them to high places of power and prestige both in civility and in the military. He believed that the ruler was the guardian of his subjects, and so he went to great lengths to take care of his people, regardless of their religion.10[10] Having thus established the Mughal throne to a greater extent than any of his predecessors, Akbar s death proved to be no threat at all to its survival. In 1605, Akbar s son Jehangir (previously named Salim ) laid hold of the Mughal throne and functioned very successfully, thanks to his father s organizing genius.11[11] Jehangir also proved to be a great leader, like his father, and was known for his great sense of justice.12[12] With few exceptions, Jehangir s reign did not contribute a great deal to the architecture of northern India. Lynn Strategies of Human Resources Management (MGMT 5309) Wayland Baptist University Virtual Campus Dr. Barry Evans February 8, 2015 Abstract Five days after graduating highschool, I left my hometown for the United States Navy. The dress code was simple: hair needed to be cut a certain way, creases in my uniforms were to be exact, mandatory clean shaven face and my medals/ribbons needed to be in their proper place and perfectly aligned to standards. Once I retired, reality set it when I assumed the role as a Human Resourcess Manager or Director. Skirt lengths, open/closed toed shoes, cleavage (both front and rear), piercings and tattoos are just a few of the items I was responsible for in regulating at the corporate office. This paper will discuss many of the common dress code issues, legal responsibilities and a bit of personal humor and insight into the ordeal of establishing a dress code policy that will regulate your appearance. In addition, this paper will add some of my trials and pitfalls when establishign policy that might help some of my colleagues who will become Human Resources professionals learn to be realistic and quite possibly compassionate when it comes to preparing a dress code policy. • 43. Analysis Of The Film The Flies By F. Scott Fitzgerald Artistically speaking, this film is beautiful. There was a lot of thought put into every detail from the actors to the camera shots. The film seems to flow in beautiful manner from one scene to the next. One piece of art in the film is the use of symbols. Each symbol is delicately placed in order to make sense to any viewers that can pick up on them. One symbol is Nick s obsession with his Peace Lily. It represents his obsession with the job. It is the only other thing he cares for because its needs are simple and by the books. When he breaks it, it is supposed to symbolize his change of heart; that somebody has taken the place of the lily. Another symbol in the filmis the number 3. There are 3 murders that take place before people believe Nicholas. There are 3 people Nick tries to talk to in order to get out of being sent to Sanford. Many lines are repeated 3 times over. This could be in reference to fairytales always using the number 3, since this plot seems far fetched like a fairytale. However, it could also be in reference to the trilogy of films that Wright and Pegg made together. Then, there is the swan symbol. Swans typically symbolize grace, beauty, and peace. In the film, though, the swans symbolize an overbearing distraction. Nicholas is constantly surrounded by them in the hotel he stays at, which is rightly called The Swan Hotel . He is also charged with the task of catching an escaped swan. This causes him to miss many chances to catch the perpetrators of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the first automobiles and probable one of the most successful was the Model T. This automobile was reliable but since it was one of Henry s first it was a little high in price. In nineteen o nine Henry started to mass produce the Model T and it was a big hit. The original cost of the Model T when Henry first started producing them was eight hundred and fifty dollars. This may sound very cheap today but this was very expensive in the early nineteen hundreds. With this cost Henry was not impressed and only met half of his goal. Henry tried to meet his goal by creating a chain of conveyer belts to move parts through the factory faster, more efficiently, and at a steady pace. Henry also had a new idea he wanted to try with having only one person perform a single and small task. With Henry having one person per task he was going to need hundreds of people to work, but Henry had no trouble with that because he was paying five dollars a day to the people who worked in his factory. By making these simple adjustments to the way Henry produced the automobiles, it cut the time that it took to assemble them tremendously. The time to assemble a new Model T went from a long twelve and a half hours in nineteen twelve to a very short one hour and a half in nineteen fourteen. This was amazing for Henry but this only brought the price down a little bit, this meant not everyone or most people could afford it. Henry decided to try to get the cost lower and he soon succeeded by making his own glass and steel. This brought the cost down but also made sure the product where tough and were exactly what Henry needed for his automobiles. By making his own materials it brought the price down to five hundred and fifty dollars in nineteen thirteen. Henry still thought the price needed to be lower so everyone could afford to have a Model T. By nineteen fifteen the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This simple act should not be overlooked. It was possibly the first time that any high ranking political figure had gone out their way to ensure that blacks were not mistreated and was seen by many as a bold and risky move on Lincoln s part. Not everyone was welcome in the U.S. military. Women in particular were heavily restricted. Women could only serve as nurses and then nowhere near an active combat zone. Black women, who could not formally join the Army, nonetheless served as nurses, spies, and scouts, the most famous being Harriet Tubman. When the Civil War began, Tubman worked for the Union Army, first as a cook and nurse, and then as an armed scout and spy for the 2nd South Carolina Volunteers. She was the first woman to lead an armed expedition in the war for America. She led a Union raid on the Combahee River in the interior of South Carolina on June 2, 1863. This single raid was credited with freeing over 750 slaves was a humiliating blow to the Southern cause and a major morale booster for the North.
