Magnetic Tape Essay
VAT reaches the last usable sectors on the disk. 7.6 MAGNETIC TAPE Magnetic tape is the oldest
and most cost effective of all mass storage devices. First generation magnetic tapes were made of the
same material used by analog tape recorders. A cellulose acetate film one half inch wide (1.25 cm)
was coated on one side with a magnetic oxide. Twelve hundred feet of this material was wound onto a
reel, which then could be hand threaded on a tape drive. These tape drives were approximately the size
of a small refrigerator. Early tapes had capacities under 11MB, and required nearly a half hour to read
or write the entire reel. Data was written across the tape one byte at a time, creating one track for each
bit. An additional track was added ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A stream of data is written along the length of the tape until the end is reached, then the tape reverses
and the next track is written beneath the first one (see Figure 7.18). This process continues until the
track capacity of the tape has been reached. Digital linear tape (DLT) and Quarter Inch Cartridge
(QIC) systems use serpentine recording with 50 or more tracks per tape. Digital audio tape (DAT) and
8mm tape systems use helical scan recording. In other recording systems, the tape passes straight
across a fixed magnetic head in a manner similar to a tape recorder. DAT systems pass tape over a
tilted rotating drum (capstan), which has two read heads and two write heads, as shown in Figure 7.19.
(During write operations, the read heads verify the integrity of the data just after it has been written.)
The capstan spins at 2,000 RPM in the direction opposite of the motion of the tape. (This
configuration is similar to the mechanism used by VCRs.) The two read/write head assemblies write
data at 40 degree angles to one another. Data written by the two heads overlaps, thus increasing the
recording density. Helical scan systems tend to be slower, and the tapes are subject to more wear than
serpentine systems with their simpler tape paths. FIGURE 7.18 Three Recording Passes on a

Polysaccharides, Lipids, And Nucleic Acids
. Polysaccharides, proteins, fats, and nucleic acids are enzymes responsible for the chemical digestion
of each of the macromolecules. Polysaccharides are secreted by carbohydrates in the small intestine
and is produced by the pancreas with monosaccharides. Proteins break down to amino acids that get
secreted first by the stomach and finish the process in the small intestine. Fats are secreted by small
intestine and the process of the conversion of fats is monoglycerides and fatty acids, nucleic acids are
broken down to nucleotides which are DNA and RNA that have been secreted by the small intestine.
2. The layers of the GI tract consist of mucosa by producing mucus to protect against pathogens and
the lining is epithelium. Submucosa is responsible for the blood and lymph vessels for the absorption
of nutrients, would find nervous tissue and glands for the secretion of lumen. In the muscularis there
are three layers called circular layer where it extends the diameter of the GI tract the other layer is
longitudinal is where the muscle runs along the length of the digestive tract and oblique, all allow for
movement in the GI tract. Serosa is a serous that reduces friction in the wall of the GI tract.

Lives of the Saints Essay
Lives of the Saints
Lives of the Saints is a story that examines the complexities and tribulations of everyday life in a
small town. Throughout the novel, we discover that even the most trustworthy and caring individuals
live secret lives behind closed doors, and that the surface appearance of minor communities can be
very deceptive. Some people spend their entire adult lives trying to knock down these doors and
discover the truth, but perhaps they are overlooking the key to the lock... our children.

Unfortunately, to every advantage there are a few disadvantages. When Fabrizio saves Vitto on the
mountain, he doesn t understand what has happened. ...I felt myself flush with anger and hate, hate for
Fabrizio, my only friend, who seemed suddenly stupid and useless beyond all bearing (127).
Eventually, as Vittorio makes his progression towards maturity, he realizes that he had underestimated
his friend, and they become closer because of it. As the old saying goes, ignorance is bliss. But
perhaps in the case of this young boy, it isn t. Maybe if he had been able to understand the severity of
the problem his family was in, he would have acted differently.
Lives of the Saints also deals with the contrast of good and evil, something that Vittorio comes across
on numerous occasions throughout the story. (There are far more characters in this story then I could
mention on these pages, so I will write about the people who had the greatest effect on Vittorio). His
encounter with Luciano of Rocca Secca is one of the key elements in the book. For his seventh
birthday, Vittorio and his mother travel to Rocca Secca to buy him some birthday presents. On their
way towards the market, Cristina meets a tall, muscular man that Vittorio has never seen. The man
(Luciano) carries him piggyback down to a secluded area of town, and takes a large one lira coin out
of his pocket. Luciano tells him the story of

John F. Kennedy And Jfk
John F. Kennedy
My fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your
country. This is one of the most famous quotes John F. Kennedy ever presented during his term as
president of these United States. Hello I am Miya Cole and in these next few minutes I will be
informing you about our thirty fifth president, John F. Kennedy.
John Fitzgerald Kennedy or better known as JFK was born May 29, 1917 in Brookline,
Massachusetts. JFK had a particularly big family which consisted of three brothers and four sister.
Kennedy lived in Brookline for 10 years and attended the Edward Devotion School, the Noble and
Greenough Lower School, and the Dexter School through 4th grade. In 1927, the Kennedy family
moved to New York City. Kennedy attended the lower campus of Riverdale Country School, a private
school for boys, from 5th to 7th grade. Two years later, the family moved to the suburb of Bronxville,
New York, where Kennedy was a member of Scout Troop 2. In September 1930, Kennedy attended
the Canterbury School in New Milford, Connecticut and about a year later he had to leave Canterbury
due an illness.
In September 1931, Kennedy was sent to the The Choate School in Wallingford, Connecticut for 9th
through 12th grade. During his years there he sort of a trouble maker. He and his friend were most
notorious for using a cherry bomb or firecracker to explode toilet seats. In June of 1935 Kennedy
graduated from Choate. In September 1936, Kennedy

How To Have A Blocked Toilet
Maybe the most unexpected circumstances you would ever have in a washroom are an instance of a
blocked toilet. In addition to the fact that it is unsanitary and a touch of a bother, no doubt; it s
likewise quite recently out and out irritating.
In spite of the underlying assumption, managing a blocked toilet is never a simple accomplishment. It
takes a specific measure of guts and boldness to just ahead and attempt to settle it yourself. In this
way, for a great many people who simply ahead one step and hand it over to the specialists.
The most widely recognized and idiot proof of approaches to check if you are to be sure having a

The Lead Up For Current Business Level Strategy
The Lead up to current Business level Strategy Since the inception of the company, General Electric
put great emphasis on innovation. Creating the first Industrial Research Laboratory of its kind in 1900,
the company introduces copious amount of new products to the world ever since. This Lab allowed
the company to generate new products that would facilitate the creation of future profitable ideas. The
dedicated team of scientists and engineers could create new products and improve existing products
such as the light bulb in order to differentiate them from other competitors in the market. This practice

In 1981 with the arrival of the new CEO, Jack Welsh, the new corporate strategy was implemented
with emphasis on performance and efficiency. This move toward efficiency reduced innovation in the
company, moving it away from its differentiation strategies. General Electric diversified itself by
investing and acquiring a slew of companies that it recognized to be profitable. GE operated in more
than eight different industries. The management sough to maintain a limited number of sectors that
had great growth potential and performance. GE s portfolio of business divisions involved Power
Water, Aviation, Healthcare, Oil Gas, Energy Management, Appliances Lighting, Transportation, GE
Capital, and others. The company wide policy was to implement six sigma quality control,
digitization, and globalization. Jack Welsh also aimed to create and nurture the development of talent
and leadership in the company.
Current Business level Strategies With the arrival of New CEO, Jeff Immelt, in 2001 the company
went through a reformation once more. Immelt intended to disband the conglomerate corporate
strategy and instead concentrate on GE s core competencies relating to advanced technologies and
services in order to deliver superior highly customized products to high growth markets (Bucifal,
2009). This new strategy hearkened back to the companies original differentiation strategy, and

Abstract This paper proposes direct torque control of induction motor simulation using conventional
method and space vector pulse width modulation technique for ripple reduction. Direct Torque Control
is a control technique used in AC drive systems to obtain high performance torque control and thereby
controlling the speed of induction motor. The principle is based on simultaneous decoupling of stator
flux and electromagnetic torque of AC drive system. DTC drives use hysteresis comparators and they
suffer from high torque ripple and variable switching frequency problem. The proposed SVM based
DTC reduces torque ripples. The basis of the SVM DTC methodology is the calculation of the
required voltage space vector to compensate the flux and torque errors and its generation using the
SVM at each sample period. The performance of this method is demonstrated by simulation using
MATLAB/Simulink software. Simulation results presented in this paper show the torque, flux linkage
and stator current ripple decreases with the proposed SVM DTC algorithm. Keywords: Direct Torque

This support was necessary for long term success. Therefore, management should actively explore its
relationships with all stakeholders in order to develop business strategies.
For the most part these developments had a relatively small impact on the management theories of the
time. However, fragments of the stakeholder concept survived and developed within four distinct
management research streams over the next twenty years. Indeed, it was by pulling together these
related stakeholder concepts from the corporate planning, systems theory, corporate social
responsibility and organizational theory that the stakeholder approach crystallized as a framework for
strategic management in the 1980 s. What follows is a brief summary of these building blocks of
stakeholder theory.
The Corporate Planning Literature
The corporate planning literature incorporated a limited role for stakeholders in the development of
corporate strategy. Ansoff s classic book Corporate Strategy (1965) illustrated the importance of
identifying critical stakeholders. However, stakeholders difference is that the early use of the
stakeholder idea was not particularly oriented towards the survival of the firm. Slinger s argument can
be found in his doctoral dissertation, Stakeholding and Takeovers: Three Essays, University of
Cambridge, forthcoming in 2001. An abridged version is in Spanning the Gap: The Theoretical
Principles Connecting Stakeholder Policies to Business Performance ,

Women s Education During The Progressive Era Essay
Women s education in the United States made huge strides during the Progressive Era. However,
along with those strides came negative reactions from not only men but women as well. These second
generation women started moving away from their expected nurturing professions and instead started
going into male dominated professions. Some of these professions were doctors and lawyers, just to
name a few. Due to these career changes, women were required to have bachelor s degrees and
training. Because of this, women s colleges were hit with heavy backlash in the early 1900s. Many
male educators and doctors viewed the lengthening lines of candidates in the secondary schools with
alarm. They believed the women s colleges were institutions for the promotion of celibacy, producing
a disappearing class of intellectual women who were not marrying and hence were committing race ...

It was only somewhat acceptable for unmarried women to go to school and have a job away from
home to help out their families. Their curriculum consisted of subjects to help better them as
housewives. Women faculty and students argued for the adoption of courses on settlement work,
socialism, sociology, and particularly sanitary science, or home economics, which was not always a
nuts and bolts subject (Gordon, 541). Teachers and nurses were still the acceptable professions for
women, but many started taking pre business courses and going into graduate school because the
professions they wanted required that. The efforts of women during the Progressive Era significantly
impacted the lives of countless Americans and led to many of the luxuries we take for granted today
including clean water, trash collection, hot lunches at schools, community playgrounds, fire codes for
office buildings, public libraries, and so much more (National Women s History Museum,

Spanish Colonization Essay
Improvements in technology, religious conflict, and expanding trade all affected oceanic crossing and
exploration. Although each country colonized at different times and rates, the reasoning behind
exploration was relatively the same. The French, Spanish and English exploration traveled to the
Americas for either one or all of these reasons: gold, power and God. Once in America, these three
countries all had very diverse ways of colonizing. But, altogether most of the Europeans had a
negative affect on the Natives who already inhabited America. The Spanish had the largest
colonization throughout America, they had settlements in present day Florida, New Mexico, Texas and
California. The men who explored these areas, Conquistadors, sent ships ... Show more content on

They were hoping to find a passage to Asia. French claims began in 1534 because of Jacques Cartier,
but like the English they were slow to colonize. European wars, conflict the the Roman Catholic
Church were both large reasons why French colonization did not happen sooner. Eventually, Samuel
Champlain established the first French colonization on the St. Lawrence river in 1608. In 1673 Louis
Jolliet and Father Jacques explored the Mississippi river, and in 1682 Robert de La sale explored the
Mississippi Basin. Unlike the English and Spanish the French viewed Indians as military and
economic allies. They built trading posts throughout the St.Lawrence valley and the coast of the
Mississippi river, where they exchanged French trade with pelts and fur collected by Indians. The
French were not as large as the English and Spanish so they did not pose a large threat to the natives.
Altogether, these three European Countries changed the world forever. Europe s population grew and
there was a shift from feudalism to capitalism. For the Natives and Africans colonization was much
more negative. Diseases killed many Indians, but Horses and Guns brought from Europe transformed
their hunting and warfare. Slave trade was also greatly increased due to the colonization. Today there
are many debates on if Columbus voyage was positive or negative, but no mater what people believe,
without American colonization the world would be drastically

Essay about The Effects Of Media On Preschoolers
The use of media (television, video games, phones, music, and computers) by young children is
becoming more and more common in everyday life. Children are in front of media screens now more
than anytime in history. Parents are allowing, encouraging, and promoting the use of media in many
forms. There are endless sources available for parents to purchase for the use with infants, toddlers,a

(Ravichandran, France de Bravo, 2010, Yound Children and Screentime .) Young children learn
through play and interacting with people. If we want bright, intelligent, and active children with
phenomenal imaginations we have to take and make time to play with them and turn the media off.
Play allows children to learn, the wiring connections in their brains depends on them playing,
imagining and interacting with human beings. Play prepares them for real life. It s where children
work out their problems in order to deal with life. If children spend their time in front of screens and
interacting with media then it is not spent in play and the various brain connections are not being
connected, resulting in learing and attention problems. Children also learn from moving and doing.
When they are interacting with media they are usually not moving and doing. During a 2year
longitudinal study where media exposure was recorded, both violent and educational, were found and
associated with physical aggression, verbal aggression and relational aggression according to the
gender of the children. It was determined that media exposure predicted various types of aggression
and prosocial behavior according to gender. To their amazement girls were much more likely to
engage in and be victimized by relational and verbal aggression than boys, especially if other girls
were present.Whereas boys were much more likely to participate in physical aggression than girls,

Essay On The South African War
The war that occurred in South Africa from 1899 to 1902 has had several names throughout history.
Often, the title depends on who is discussing the war and on what side of the war they were fighting
for during the conflict. Several of these names include the Boer War, the Second War of Liberation,
the Anglo Boer War, and the South African War. Many historians today believe that it should be
referred to as the South African War, so as to include everyone who resided in the South African
region at that time. The conflict should be called the South African war as it was not simply a war
between white British and white Boers because there were many different people and races involved
and affected, including African workers, and foreigners who came to work in the mines in the
Transvaal.
The War in South Africa resulted from many different issues between the British Empire and the
Dutch, or the Boers. Two of the primary sources of conflict during the war were the diamond and gold

The Kuiper Belt
More and more is being learned about the Kuiper Belt showing us that it is an interesting part of our
galaxy that may help us better understand how our solar system was formed. The existence of what
became known as the Kuiper Belt was first suggested by astronomer Kenneth Edgeworth in 1943. He
suggested that, comets and other larger bodies might exist past Neptune. Several years later in 1951,
astronomer Gerard Kuiper predicted the existence of icy objects that formed a belt just beyond the
orbit of Neptune. This became known as the Kuiper Belt or less commonly known as the Edgeworth
Kuiper Belt and is thought to contain objects leftover during the formation of our solar system. The
actual existence of the Kuiper Belt was not confirmed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the discovery of the first large KBO, 1992QB1, in 1992 by Jane Luu and David Jewitt (jew it), a
few others have been identified. In 2004 using better telescopes, astronomers discovered another KBO
which they named Sedna. This was followed by discoveries in 2005 and 2008. In 2005 a KBO slightly
smaller than Pluto was identified and named Eris. It was the discovery of Eris which has its own moon
that led to Pluto being reclassified as a dwarf planet rather than the ninth planet in our solar system. In
2008 two more objects categorized as dwarf planets were discovered. One is named Makemake after
the Polynesian creation god and the other is named Haumea after the Hawaiian goddess of fertility and
childbirth. The distance from Earth and the small size of the objects in the Kuiper Belt make them
very difficult to see and study. To get a closer look at the objects, the first mission to the Kuiper Belt
was launched in 2006 by NASA. The New Horizons spacecraft had reached Pluto about 10 years later
in 2015 providing the first up close glimpse of a Kuiper belt object. The New Horizons spacecraft
continues to push further into the Kuiper Belt and information from this exploration is still being
analyzed.
The study of Kuiper Belt will likely continue to provide more information on how our solar system
was formed and its origins. The material in the Kuiper Belt are what s left over after the rocks, dust
and gas pulled together form

The first two parts of this series on Managing Creativity in Business examined Corporate Killers of
Creativity and Key Attributes of The Creative Personality.
Now, we look at the methods that managers can employ to manage creative teams.
To harness creative attributes and obtain superior work from employees and vendors of creative
services, bosses and clients must understand their crucial role in the creative process.
The boss or client in fact must not simply manage the process, but instead must lead the creative team.
Leadership differs significantly from management. Managers plan, organize, direct, coordinate and
control. Leaders inspire. Leaders catalyze. Leaders stretch. Leaders project a vision.
The leader s job is to create an environment in which creativity can thrive. Managers who lead instead
of managing are more likely to obtain superior creative work. In addition, client as leader has the
responsibility to identify the problem not the solution. The most successful leaders delegate the search
for solutions to the creative team.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Trinitrotoluene
TNT is more accurately known as Trinitrotoluene (more specifically 2,4,6 trinitrotoluene), a Class A
explosive. Its molecular formula is C7H5N3O6 OR C6H2(CH3)(NO2)3 OR C6H2(NO2)3CH3. This
compound includes the elements Carbon, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, and Oxygen, notably 37.0% Carbon,
2.2% Hydrogen, 18.5% Nitrogen, and 42.3% Oxygen. It is an explosive chemical (a combustible
solid) with toxic and hazardous effects. Commonly experienced symptoms due to exposure mainly
include headaches, weakness, anemia, liver injury, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dermatitis, cyanosis,
toxic hepatitis, etc. It s an incredibly hazardous explosive, considering it is absorbed by the skin, its
vapors are toxic, toxic fumes are released when decomposed due to high temperatures, and it
detonates under excessive shock or heat. Physically, TNT is a colorless or pale yellow and odorless
solid or crushed flake, and it is synthetic (does not occur naturally on Earth). It has a molecular weight
of 227.132 g/mol, hydrogen donor count of 0, hydrogen acceptor count of 6, relatable bond count of 0,
complexity of 292, topological polar surface of 138 A^2, mass of 227.018 g/mol, heavy atom count of
16, covalently bonded unit count of 1, and formal charge of 0. Its structural shape changes. Its boiling
point (point at which it explodes) is 464º F (240 deg C) at 760 mmHg. It is also insoluble, but has a
few exceptions. At 18 deg C, it is soluble in the following solvents: chloroform, ether, and carbon
tetrachloride.

The, A Venetian Nun And Early Modern Italian Author
Arcangela Tarabotti, a Venetian nun and early modern Italian author, spent the vast majority of her life
in an Italian convent writing various texts centered on issues of forced enclosure and the patriarchy.
Throughout her lifetime, she published five works, but one of her most poignant, Paternal Tyranny,
spoke to these issues in a uniquely powerful way. Indeed, Tarabotti focused on three significant main
points: the hypocrisy of putting daughters in convents, the problems with male patriarchy as a whole,
and her own interpretation of the Bible. She presented these points with the help of several rhetorical
strategies throughout the novel, such as, her ability to turn around popular claims about women and
apply them to men, her strong use of references to the Bible and popular literary works, her use of
parables throughout the work to clearly give examples of her arguments, and many more. By
exploring each of her arguments, we can see how she used these various rhetorical strategies to her
advantage. Indeed, one of her most interesting arguments throughout the novel was her own
interpretation of the Bible and the various people in the Bible. The reader is introduced to this
argument early on in the first book. For example, Tarabotti believes that Adam, not Eve, is mainly
responsible for the fall from grace. She argues that, if he [Adam] alone had the grace of free will and
was superior to Eve, she would not have sinned at all, despite the serpent s promptings and

Epidemiology Is The Branch Of Medicine
Epidemiology
Epidemiology is the branch of medicine that deals with the incidence, distribution, and possible
control of diseases and other factors relating to health (Schneider, 8). In 1847, a Viennese obstetrician
by the name of Ignac Semmelweis discovered the importance of handwashing in a hospital setting
(Gawande, 15). Before the discovery of antibiotics, childbed fever was the number one cause of
maternal death in childbirth. Semmelweis realized by not washing their hands, doctors were the ones
responsible for carrying the bacteria that caused the fever from mother to mother. After implementing
strict hand washing rules the death rate of mothers decreased from 20% to 1% almost overnight

Scientists have yet to discover what exactly causes BSE but the leading theory is that it is caused by
prions infectious agents made entirely out of protein that are usually found in the brain and spinal cord
and can only currently be treated if caught before symptoms arise. Humans that eat infected meat may
be infected with Creutzfeldt Jakob disease which causes brain lesions that ultimately kill the infected.
Another important function of epidemiology is the control of disease. Epidemiologists are tasked with
researching and creating vaccines. A vaccine is a substance used to kickstart the production of
antibodies and help build a resistance to one or several diseases, created from a part of the existing
disease or a man made substance. To create the vaccines scientists have to do thousands of hours of
research and testing. There are many different types of vaccines; some deactivate the disease, some
weaken it, and some even use a piece of the bacteria or virus to counteract its ill effects. If a vaccine
cannot be found epidemiologists can use the factors that facilitate the transmission of the disease also
known as determinants of the disease ,such as where it is spreading and the medium it uses to travel ,
to keep it from spreading. An example of a disease without a vaccine but with clear determinants is
HIV.
Epidemiologist do not only work with diseases that are infectious they also work with chronic

Hypocrisy In To Kill A Mockingbird Analysis
Hypocrisy in To Kill a Mockingbird In her coming of age novel To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee
explores how the precocious protagonist, Jean Louise Scout Finch, struggles to fit into her role as a
lady and has a difficult time coming to terms of the cruelty as well as the injustice her Southern town
displays through discrimination. Scout resides with her family in Maycomb County, Alabama in the
1930s a town severely divided by color. She goes through a breathtaking metamorphosis throughout
the novel when her father Atticus defends a Negro man accused of rape, exposing her to the true roots
of human behavior. Through the use of settings, characterization, and ironies, Lee implies that
hypocrisy is a tragic act to be involved in; it can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another hypocritical scene occurs in the novel when the people of Maycomb make untrue judgements
about the Radley Place and its inhabitants. For instance, Scout states, The shutters and doors of the
Radley house were closed on Sundays, another thing alien to Maycomb s ways: closed doors meant
illness and cold weather only (11). It is duplicitous of the townspeople to scrutinize the Radleys based
solely on town gossip and the appearance of their home. The Radley home is intentionally used as an
excuse by the townspeople to isolate the Radleys since their way of living is not considered normal in
their eyes. Overall, numerous reasons can be found why people tend to be hypocritical; it is evident as
to why many possess this quality in Maycomb. Lee uses characterization, a crucial literary device, to
display to readers the lethal effects of hypocrisy in society. As Miss Maudie said, Mockingbirds don t
do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don t eat up people s gardens, don t nest in
corncribs, they don t do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That s why it s a sin to kill a
mockingbird (119). Despite his innocence and role of a mockingbird, Tom was condemned guilty of
rape and shot 17 times. Mayella herself believes in beauty in an ugly world yet her heinous actions
caused her to be a part of that ugliness. Humans often appear to be hypocritical when they attempt to
prove a point, yet their behavior

Essay On The Galapago Trip
Off the Beaten Path Galapagos trips are rare; the restrictions in place pretty much rule them out. Any
incursion into the Galapagos National Park is done with a certified guide, boats are limited to stopping
at each visitor site once in a fourteen day period and the notion of setting off on your to parts unknown
independently is distinctly and absolutely frowned upon.
While being saddled with a guide and limitations that prohibit independent travel is disconcerting to
many, the advent of a new twist on an old tradition offers relief to those is search of a trail blazing
adventure.

This adventure led me to update a guidebook, manage a non profit travel club and through a maze of
places that didn t make the cut. Needless to say, my latest discovery is worth its salt and deserving of
the time it takes to finish this article.
Conventional wisdom about the Galapagos dictates that trips are taken on boats, more islands are
accessible in a limited amount of time. This way of thinking isn t easily changed, but making a
decision to take a land based trip just makes sense. Time is spent getting to know the islands from a
hands on perspective, seeing the uninhabited destinations by day and spending the nights in the natural
surroundings. Adding a different element to the trip and bringing the environment to life.
Michael and Stephanie Mesdag realized this while on vacation. A trip into the highlands of Santa Cruz
led them to a farm for sale next to the National Park border. The subsequent purchase made way for
two years of camping on the property while getting to know the islands culturally and planning an
environmentally friendly way to open up the Galapagos to a safari

Mercedes Vs Subaru Research Paper
Mercedes Benz CLA250 vs. Subaru WRX Premium
If you re in the market for a new entry level luxury sedan you ve probably run across the Mercedes
Benz CLA250. The Mercedes starts at $32,400, which is very cheap for a Mercedes, and that s exactly
what they want you to think. Over the years Mercedes has grown to be a respected German car
company making very pricy luxury cars. They all come with extremely fancy heated and cooled
massaging seats, top of the line audio systems and attention to detail that will blow your mind away.
This all comes with a price tag, you must be making a lot of money because after you buy a Mercedes
you better have money laying around, because when a Mercedes breaks, it breaks hard and your wallet
too. Then in 2016 Mercedes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Mercedes has front wheel drive. It a disgrace as this is Mercedes very first front wheel drive car
but it does have better fuel economy. Front wheel drive handles awful and is horrible in the winter.
The Mercedes also comes with a sluggish 7 speed automatic. The gear changes are very slow and
make the car even less fun to drive. On the Subaru you have two options. You have the option between
a 6 speed manual or an automatic CVT transmission. If you have a brain you ll buy this car with the 6
speed manual. I believe every car should have a manual option as it is the best way to drive a car. It s
more involving and makes you pay more attention to the road. Plus you can t text and drive or any
other distracting weird thing people do while driving. In all when you look at these cars they are very
similar but when you look a little deeper you can tell Mercedes is pulling the classic rip off I still give
Mercedes kudos for their other cars, but this one just doesn t seem worth it to me. It s not a total rip off
it s just you re gonna have to pay extra to get a car with a Mercedes badge on it. I think it s really
stupid and a waste of money but if you re a fan of overpriced European cars then the Mercedes is the
perfect option. The Subaru obviously comes out on top in this one with more features and a starting
price way cheaper than the

They clearly are happy with all that they have done in their own life if they have no other regrets, so
there is no reason for them to want to be a different person. Further, everyone is who they are meant to

upon by someone else, even if they do not realize it. People affect other people s lives in ways they
cannot comprehend, and if a person wants to be someone else, then they are taking away from all of
the lives that they have previously touched in the past. A person may want to be someone else because
they seem to have a better life than the one that they have, however, they could have problems or

everyone has rewards. Some challenges may seem harder than others and some rewards may seem

different things in life and, as a result, will view things with possibly inverse perspectives. So
something may seem to be excellent to one person but terrible to another. Also, some things may have
an outwardly appearance of being good or bad, but could actually be the opposite in the circumstances

My friends in school think that I am just a normal with no life at all. However, outside of school, I

means being very famous and is the kind of person who stands out from the rest, but for me, it just
means that I can relate to other people by having a kind heart and an open mind. The word extrovert

In the Second World War logistics also played an integral role. The allied forces invasion of Europe
was a highly skilled exercise in logistics, However while the Generals and Field Marshals from the
earliest times have understood the critical of logistics, strangely it is only in the recent history that
business organizations have come to recognize the vital impact that logistics management can play in
gaining a competitive advantage (Christopher 1992).
However, we must ask ourselves what is logistics management in the sense that is understood today?
There are multiple ways of defining logistics however, the underlying concept might be defined as

substantial reduction in the reliability of the delivery (Christopher 1992).

Logistics is a collection of working activities that are repeated many times through out the channel

at the same places and the channel represents a sequence of manufacturing steps, logistics activities

Student Rights in School Freedom of speech is one of the most important parts of the First

about many things, including citizenship. In order to teach young people rights, they must have rights
in the first place. Although students should have free speech rights, the school has a right to limit
certain things that could hurt the students. In the past, cases have been brought to the Supreme Court

In America the concept of the traditional nuclear family is forced on the population by means of the
media, social media, and the educational systems. The idea or concept of this is ideal family is a

married couple; 20 percent of all households contain married couples who have children living with
them (Caruso Timmermann, 2013). This change means that the traditional family structure has

Consuasive Speech On The Confederate Flag
The Confederate flags have been around with the US since the mid 1800s when the South split from
the North. Slavery and Racism has been poison to the citizens of America ever since and we ve been
trying to get rid of it for the longest of times. The statue of confederate soldiers have been here for a
while too. The flags radiate hatred all over the US while the statues truly represented white supremacy.
Three reasons why the Confederate flag and statues should be removed from the south are that many
Southern folk believe the Confederate statues and flags is a part of southern heritage when it is not,
Southerners believe it s actually right to always show free speech on what they believe in, and they
don t care for the opinion of others who live there that see the flag as something that radiates hatred
and darkness.
First of all, the statues and flags are a great way of remembering the past and the people of the past,
but it stops people from pursuing their happiness. For example, if they saw something they didn t like
in the public, they d report it to the authorities. Enough people have said the statues were a disturbance

The Importance Of Genetic Advancements In Oncology
WEfforts over the past decade to characterize the genetic alterations in human cancers have led to a
better understanding of molecular drivers of this complex set of diseases. Although we in the cancer
field hoped that this would lead to more effective drugs, historically, our ability to translate cancer
research to clinical success has been remarkably low1. Sadly, clinical trials in oncology have the
highest failure rate compared with other therapeutic areas. Given the high unmet need in oncology, it
is understandable that barriers to clinical development may be lower than for other disease areas, and a
larger number of drugs with suboptimal preclinical validation will enter oncology trials. However, this

Thus, it takes many years before the clinical applicability of initial preclinical observations is known.
The results of preclinical studies must therefore be very robust to withstand the rigours and challenges
of clinical trials, stemming from the heterogeneity of both tumours and patients.
Confirming research findings
The scientific community assumes that the claims in a preclinical study can be taken at face value that
although there might be some errors in detail, the main message of the paper can be relied on and the
data will, for the most part, stand the test of time. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. Although
the issue of irreproducible data has been discussed between scientists for decades, it has recently
received greater attention (see go.nature.com/q7i2up) as the costs of drug development have increased
along with the number of late stage clinical trial failures and the demand for more effective therapies.
Over the past decade, before pursuing a particular line of research, scientists (including C.G.B.) in the
haematology and oncology department at the biotechnology firm Amgen in Thousand Oaks,
California, tried to confirm published findings related to that work. Fifty three papers were deemed
landmark studies (see Reproducibility of research findings ). It was acknowledged from the outset that
some of the data might not hold up, because papers were deliberately selected that described

New Zealand Cultural And Ethical Consideration Essay
New Zealand Cultural and Ethical consideration
For the ethical considerations the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (n.d.) summarized that
there are three basic ethical principles relevant to research involving human subjects. The three things
stated by the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (n.d.) are respect for persons, beneficence
and justice. For the respect for the person each individual should be treated as autonomous agents as
such the researcher should ensure that the participants of the research received a full disclosure of the
nature of the study, risk, benefits and alternatives with a decent opportunity to ask questions. For the
ones with diminished authority or those with either their mental or physical faculties are limited. They
should not be forced to participate in the research. For the beneficence the researcher should maximize
the benefits of the study while limiting the negative effects on the participants. For the justice part of
ethics there should be fairness in the distribution of participants and there should be equitable
selection off participants. For justice the researcher should not withhold any benefit the person should
be entitled without any god reason. According to the American Psychological Association(2003) there
are five principles for research ethics these principles help the researcher avoid problems in ethics.

Documentation In Nursing Essay
Accurate nursing documentation is paramount to increased level of care for a patients that are
admitted into hospitals, referred to other providers or discharged from care. An accurate medical
record is by far the most reliable source of information on the care of a patient. The proper
documentation by nurses prevents errors and facilitates continuity of care. Documentation plays a vital
role in research, education, quality assurance and reimbursements for both patients and providers
(Okaisu, Kalikwani, Wanyana, Coetzee, 2014, p. 1). The importance of documentation is not lost on
any RN, but continuity in what is recorded and what is absolutely necessary to have in a patient s
record is not always met. Case management in the emergency department, constantly works to find the
right data in a patient s record to ensure that they have the correct insurance coverage and can be
admitted or discharged at the appropriate time and place. Even when the smallest amount of essential
information is not documented, this otherwise straight forward process turns into a scavenger hunt for
who has seen the patient, interventions that were done and for what reasons, and at what time all of
these things took place. ED case manager Veronica Kountz (personal communication, March 20,
2015) states that the inadequacy of documentation can lead to insurance companies not covering
patient costs, which the hospital then has to absorb. Before a patient can be admitted or discharged, the

Monetary Policies Of The Bank Of England Essay
Given the power to formulate and implement monetary policies, the Bank of England (the Bank)
declared its independence in 1997, taking charge of maintaining price stability and supporting the
economic policy of Her Majesty s Government, including its objectives for economic growth and
employment. In the following sections, the paper will attempt to assess the Bank work and its policies
that has been carried out during the economic downturn.
As Mizen (2003:196) noted, during the period from 1970s to early 1990s, a series of monetary
policies that introduced by the British government turned out to be unsuccessful the inflation was out
of control. The underperforming monetary policies provoked the reform in 1997, after which the new
UK monetary policy framework was established according to Bank England Act 1998, giving
independence to the Bank as well as assigning responsibility of monetary policy to the newly created
Monetary Policy Committee (MPC).
The Retail Prices Index Excluding Mortgage Payments (RPIX) was to be the new goal and the
inflation target was set at 2.5% with 1% tolerance range in 1997. That measurement, changed to the
Harmonized Inflation Consumer Index (HICP) with target at 2% with 1% tolerance range in 2003
(Brown, 2003). Chart 1 shows that the inflation rates predicted by the HM Treasury during 1997 2002

Treatment Of Sickle Cell Anemia Essay
Treatment Sickle Cell Anemia is a group of disorders that cause red blood cells to become misshapen
and break down. Sickle cell disease is the most common inherited blood disorder in the United States,
affecting 70,000 to 80,000 Americans (Ashley Koch, Yang and Olney). Sickle Cell Anemia causes
your red blood cells to be thin, stiff, and shaped like a sickle. But your red blood cells are supposed to
be round and soft. A person that is diagnosed with sickle cell anemia, their blood cells start to become
clogged, causing blood clots, which can cause a great amount of health issues including: infections,
stroke, and acute chest syndrome. People get sickle cell anemia by inheriting a mutated gene from
both of their parents. On the down side, there is not currently an effective cure for sickle cell anemia,
there are several different therapeutic approaches to treating and attempting to cure the disease and
help people who are affected with sickle cell anemia better manage their symptoms. There have also
been several great scientists that dedicated a lot of research to help find a cure for sickle cell anemia.
Epidemiology and Genetics Sickle Cell Anemia is a disease that affects how oxygen is carried

Management Human Relations Works of Chester Barnard, John...
Marlon Wijesekara PA 642 Fall 2010 Final Paper During trying economic times, it is important to
study how to organizations could be restructured for them to become more efficient; to accomplish
more with less. As MPA students, we will be faced with such decisions in our professional careers; to
combine, allocate and restructure our organizations to become more effective. In this paper, I will use
three hypothetical fire stations which would be consolidated into one using the concepts from the
Human Relations frame. I will mainly focus on the executive functions of the Fire Station and give
more weight into explaining what my recommendations are to the executive to make this consolidated
fire station more effective. I have specifically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These group Norms are essential to the effectiveness of the organization and I believe that it is the task
of the superiors to bend these Norms in favor of the organizational effectiveness. Understanding how
group norms develop and why they are enforced is important for two reasons. first, group norms can
play a large role in determining whether group will be productive or not. If the work group feels at
superiors are supportive, groups norms will develop that facilitate efficiency and productivity. Daniel
Feldman looks into these group norms and goes onto explain how these norms could affect an
organization. Why do these Norms exist? Feldman explains that these norms are develop to protect the
group from external interferences and harassments. When a group forms a we feeling it is to maximize
the efficiency of the group as a whole and to reduce faliure. I recommend that it is vital for the Fire
chiefs to make sure that the newly consolidated employees develop this we feeling in the organization.
A new identity should be formed; even the basics such as a new uniform, new logo and new mission
statement could help these new subordinates develop a new identity. Motivation of employees is also a
key issue in organizing an entity. According to Tannenbaum and Massarik, all superiors of an
organization are faced with the problem of extracting services and contributions from their
subordinates at a high level of quality and efficacy. These

The Only Way Out in Richard Miller´s The Dark Night of the...
Richard E. Miller, the author of The Dark Night of the Soul, is an English professor/executive director
of the Plan genre Writing Center at Rutgers University. He studies the English curriculum in the U.S
and questions if it is successful or a dying art. This is evident in The Dark night of the Soul, It can be
quite a shock to confront the possibility that reading, writing, and talking exercise almost none of the
powers we regularly attribute to them in our favorite stories. The dark night of the soul for literacy
workers comes with the realization that training students to read, write, and talk in more critical and
self reflective ways cannot protect them from the violent changes our culture is undergoing. Miller
through out the essay ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
John. Miller though says that one can face their dark night of their soul by using the art of writing. To
write by virtue of their deep insights into the human spirit; that a world filled with artistic creations is
superior to one filled with the cast offs of the consumer culture; that writing provides access to
immortality. Joining the Liars Club is a perfect example of someone using writing to face their past,
their darkest part of their soul. Writing, as she uses it, is a hermeneutic practice that involves
witnessing the mundane horrors of the past in order to make peace with that past , states Miller. The
Dark night of one s soul is a personal fear, past, journey that in the end you reach a sense of peace.
The book A Child Called It by Dave Pelzer is an exquisite book. It is Mr. Pelzers way of dealing with
the dark night of his soul. He tells his journey through extreme child abuse, and how he overcame his
past and now uses it for good. When I was younger and going through a rough time I picked up this
book and read it in one day, I was overwhelmed with the fact that someone made it out of all that ,this
great man did and he still continued to have a positive attitude. Seeing that he could face his past, now
as an adult I know I can face mine. As I read his story tears poured down my face

Women Of Latin American Culture
Women of Latin American culture have incessantly ensued the potent gender roles that have become a
social construction of their society over innumerable decades. The profound author of Insurgent
Mexico, John Reed, imparts his experiences with the revolutionary leaders of the Mexican Revolution,
like Pancho Villa, and was able to witness their culture and more specifically the roles these Mexican
women were forced to render by their chauvinistic counterparts. This period of revolution, started to
grant women new mantles usually reserved only for men, like participating in fighting for the success
of the revolution; any preeminent changes would soon approach, but in the meantime Mexican society
run by men enjoyed the regulated traditional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Reed s accounts he expressed how he heard the angry voice of the master of the house reminded the
woman that she was not doing five or six things at once in which his woman would then go attend to
the orders he had just given (Reed, 17). There is an order of importance to note that Reed always
refers to these Mexican women as the man s woman and never their wife, however when he speaks
through the woman s account he refers to the man as their husband. There is more respect demanded
from the women of Mexican culture during the early 1900s because the men viewed their laborious
work that brings in money as a means to deserve to be treated like masters of their family. The
specifically crafted language Reed uses when he speaks of the labor the women perform, can
demonstrate that he realizes they are weary and overworked. Along with everything Reed includes
when he is describing the women work, there is important to also note that he omits any complaints
made by women to their husbands. Throughout the novel in any interaction between and man and his
woman, never did the woman complain about her arduous work and the commands she received. The
work women did in Mexican culture is expected of them and it ties into machismo on part of the men
because they feel their job is only to bring income while the wives took care of the rest. Taking this
into account, Reed portrays these women to be tolerant and respectful not only to these men in their
lives they

Rhetorical Analysis Of Russian President V. Putin
In so called Crimean speech in March 2014 Russian President V. Putin used such terms as divided
nation , national traitors , Russian world , justifying and legitimizing Russia taking over Crimean
peninsula. President V. Putin applied mostly to the Russian people concerned by protection of
compatriots abroad from discrimination or even repressions and historical injustice needed to be
repaired. But does Kremlin really believe in this or it uses this rhetoric just to explain Russian
involvement to the neighbor s inner situation? The right answer on this question will make us to
understand true Russian foreign policy motivation in Ukraine and Baltic states. Knowing what is

The Eradication Of Beta Cells And Production Of Type 1...
The purpose of this assignment is to review the available information on diabetes type I, directing
attention to the participation of the immune system in the eradication of beta cells and the production
of type 1 diabetes. The eradication of beta cells will be explored with regards to the administration of
insulin within the blood stream. The second question to be reviewed is the severe influence of blood
glucose administration. The correlation of diabetes with regards to mood alterations, hyperglycaemia
and unsubstantiated weight loss will be explored. Furthermore, the patient´s enhanced appetite,
increased urge to urinate and severe thirst detailed. Moreover, the potential outcomes on the six weeks
foetus within the first trimester of Carol´s pregnancy will be detailed.
1. Pathophysiology of Type 1 Diabetes.
Type 1 diabetes (insulin dependent), often develops in childhood or early adulthood and is the
outcome of the reaction of the autoimmune system which is produced as a result of the destruction of
beta cells from the pancreas, when the body does not produce insulin. This usually happens because
the insulin secreting cells of the pancreas do not function, or they are simply not there, have been
destroyed or they are in small quantities that they cannot produce any insulin to properly control blood
sugar levels. Since insulin is necessary to sustain life, the missing insulin has to be replaced and it is
managed with regular insulin injections, the dose which is

Catechism In The Chick Tract
This Chick Tract also touches on the idea of an all loving God which goes hand in hand with the idea
of God giving His only begotten Son so that everyone else will be allowed eternal life (John 3:16 ).
The fundamentalists try to state in this Chick Tract that God does not love Roman Catholics because
God views them as a false religion. The fundamentalists believe that the Catholic Church is just trying
to persuade people to join their faith and that it actually goes against the word of God. According to
the Catechism of the Catholic Faith, Catholics believe in an all loving God due to the fact that He
always provides for His people, forgives sins, and most importantly offers His followers an eternity of
everlasting love with Him in heaven if they choose to do so (Cline, Austin, Is God Omnibenevolent).
God has proven that He loves all of His followers and children not only through the giving of His Son,
but also throughout other parts of the Bible. Deuteronomy 7:9 shows a great example of this love
Remember that the Lord your God is the only God and that he is faithful. He will keep his covenant
and show his constant love to a thousand generations of those who love him and obey his commands .
God is telling his followers that if they remain faithful to Him, He will in return remain faithful to
them, and will always guide them and keep them safe. This God does not seem to be a God of hate
who could merely banish someone to spend the rest of eternity burning in hell for not

Protests On College Campuses
Protests over racial issues spread to more US campuses
Protests against racial insensitivity that began at the University of Missouri last week have escalated to
mass student teacher walkouts, resulting in the resignation of the university s president Tim Wolfe.
Since this announcement, two other US campuses have staged walkouts and organized rallies to call
attention to their own university issues regarding race. Specifically, rallies were held on Wednesday at
Ithaca College in New York and Smith College in Massachusetts. Following the University of
Missouri s removal of their president, an interim president has been appointed, Mr. Michael Middleton
another administrator who is of African American race. As news of this new appointment spread,
Ithaca College has also made calls for a change in leadership, with students chanting, Tom Rochon no
confidence , referring to the college s president. The protesters say Mr. Rochon has failed to increase

Continuing this week, protests were also held at Yale University in Connecticut after administrators
sent out a mass email advising students about wearing offensive Halloween costumes. After a number
of professors also gave their opinions on the subject and received backlash, the email set off a debate
about free speech and cultural sensitivity on the campus. Another 20 colleges from across the nation
have started planning solidarity protests for this coming week.
The hierarchical diffusion of racial injustice on college campuses has spread quickly within the past
few weeks as more and more people decide to protest their similar sentiments in the hopes of
immediate change. Popular culture is defined as the rapidly changing tastes, customs, and attitudes of
a group, and this student wide movement against universities is a

The Pros And Cons Of Same-Sex Marriage
On June 26th, 2015, the Supreme Court established, in Obergefell v. Hodges, that no law in the United
States could bar a same sex couple from getting married. The court decided that the Fourteenth
Amendment to the United States Constitutions Equal Protection and Due Process Clauses guaranteed
marriage as a right for same sex couples. The First Amendment protects the freedom of religion in the
United States and has been used widely to protect the actions and beliefs of religious individuals in
discriminating against LGBTQIA+ individuals. In the United States, there are a plethora of religions
some of whom reject same sex marriage as part of their sincerely held religious beliefs. One such
group is the Southern Baptist Convention, who after Obergefell v. Hodges, reaffirmed their beliefs that
same sex marriage violates their religious principles. In August of 2015, the Windsor family, owners
of a cake shop and members of the Southern Baptist Convention church, denied a same sex couple a
wedding cake due to their personal religious beliefs. The couple brought a suit against the cake shop
claiming that they were being discriminated against because of their sexual orientation which could
violate the Fourteenth Amendment s Equal Protection Clause. In this essay, I will argue that the
Windsors are not justified under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act or the First Amendment in
discriminating against the same sex couple and that there is no form of democratic deliberation

  • 2. Magnetic Tape Essay VAT reaches the last usable sectors on the disk. 7.6 MAGNETIC TAPE Magnetic tape is the oldest and most cost effective of all mass storage devices. First generation magnetic tapes were made of the same material used by analog tape recorders. A cellulose acetate film one half inch wide (1.25 cm) was coated on one side with a magnetic oxide. Twelve hundred feet of this material was wound onto a reel, which then could be hand threaded on a tape drive. These tape drives were approximately the size of a small refrigerator. Early tapes had capacities under 11MB, and required nearly a half hour to read or write the entire reel. Data was written across the tape one byte at a time, creating one track for each bit. An additional track was added ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Digital linear tape (DLT) and Quarter Inch Cartridge (QIC) systems use serpentine recording with 50 or more tracks per tape. Digital audio tape (DAT) and 8mm tape systems use helical scan recording. In other recording systems, the tape passes straight across a fixed magnetic head in a manner similar to a tape recorder. DAT systems pass tape over a tilted rotating drum (capstan), which has two read heads and two write heads, as shown in Figure 7.19. (During write operations, the read heads verify the integrity of the data just after it has been written.) The capstan spins at 2,000 RPM in the direction opposite of the motion of the tape. (This configuration is similar to the mechanism used by VCRs.) The two read/write head assemblies write data at 40 degree angles to one another. Data written by the two heads overlaps, thus increasing the recording density. Helical scan systems tend to be slower, and the tapes are subject to more wear than serpentine systems with their simpler tape paths. Chatterji Professor Head Electrical Engineering NITTTR Chandigarh, India Abstract This paper proposes direct torque control of induction motor simulation using conventional method and space vector pulse width modulation technique for ripple reduction. Direct Torque Control is a control technique used in AC drive systems to obtain high performance torque control and thereby controlling the speed of induction motor. The principle is based on simultaneous decoupling of stator flux and electromagnetic torque of AC drive system. DTC drives use hysteresis comparators and they suffer from high torque ripple and variable switching frequency problem. The proposed SVM based DTC reduces torque ripples. The basis of the SVM DTC methodology is the calculation of the required voltage space vector to compensate the flux and torque errors and its generation using the SVM at each sample period. The performance of this method is demonstrated by simulation using MATLAB/Simulink software. Simulation results presented in this paper show the torque, flux linkage and stator current ripple decreases with the proposed SVM DTC algorithm. This support was necessary for long term success. Therefore, management should actively explore its relationships with all stakeholders in order to develop business strategies. For the most part these developments had a relatively small impact on the management theories of the time. However, fragments of the stakeholder concept survived and developed within four distinct management research streams over the next twenty years. Indeed, it was by pulling together these related stakeholder concepts from the corporate planning, systems theory, corporate social responsibility and organizational theory that the stakeholder approach crystallized as a framework for strategic management in the 1980 s. What follows is a brief summary of these building blocks of stakeholder theory. The Corporate Planning Literature The corporate planning literature incorporated a limited role for stakeholders in the development of corporate strategy. Ansoff s classic book Corporate Strategy (1965) illustrated the importance of identifying critical stakeholders. However, stakeholders difference is that the early use of the stakeholder idea was not particularly oriented towards the survival of the firm. Some of these professions were doctors and lawyers, just to name a few. Due to these career changes, women were required to have bachelor s degrees and training. Because of this, women s colleges were hit with heavy backlash in the early 1900s. Many male educators and doctors viewed the lengthening lines of candidates in the secondary schools with alarm. The, A Venetian Nun And Early Modern Italian Author Arcangela Tarabotti, a Venetian nun and early modern Italian author, spent the vast majority of her life in an Italian convent writing various texts centered on issues of forced enclosure and the patriarchy. Throughout her lifetime, she published five works, but one of her most poignant, Paternal Tyranny, spoke to these issues in a uniquely powerful way. Indeed, Tarabotti focused on three significant main points: the hypocrisy of putting daughters in convents, the problems with male patriarchy as a whole, and her own interpretation of the Bible. She presented these points with the help of several rhetorical strategies throughout the novel, such as, her ability to turn around popular claims about women and apply them to men, her strong use of references to the Bible and popular literary works, her use of parables throughout the work to clearly give examples of her arguments, and many more. By exploring each of her arguments, we can see how she used these various rhetorical strategies to her advantage. Indeed, one of her most interesting arguments throughout the novel was her own interpretation of the Bible and the various people in the Bible. The reader is introduced to this argument early on in the first book. For example, Tarabotti believes that Adam, not Eve, is mainly responsible for the fall from grace. Before the discovery of antibiotics, childbed fever was the number one cause of maternal death in childbirth. Semmelweis realized by not washing their hands, doctors were the ones responsible for carrying the bacteria that caused the fever from mother to mother. Another important function of epidemiology is the control of disease. Epidemiologists are tasked with researching and creating vaccines. A vaccine is a substance used to kickstart the production of antibodies and help build a resistance to one or several diseases, created from a part of the existing disease or a man made substance. To create the vaccines scientists have to do thousands of hours of research and testing. There are many different types of vaccines; some deactivate the disease, some weaken it, and some even use a piece of the bacteria or virus to counteract its ill effects. For instance, Scout states, The shutters and doors of the Radley house were closed on Sundays, another thing alien to Maycomb s ways: closed doors meant illness and cold weather only (11). It is duplicitous of the townspeople to scrutinize the Radleys based solely on town gossip and the appearance of their home. The Radley home is intentionally used as an excuse by the townspeople to isolate the Radleys since their way of living is not considered normal in their eyes. Overall, numerous reasons can be found why people tend to be hypocritical; it is evident as to why many possess this quality in Maycomb. Conventional wisdom about the Galapagos dictates that trips are taken on boats, more islands are accessible in a limited amount of time. This way of thinking isn t easily changed, but making a decision to take a land based trip just makes sense. Time is spent getting to know the islands from a hands on perspective, seeing the uninhabited destinations by day and spending the nights in the natural surroundings. Adding a different element to the trip and bringing the environment to life. Michael and Stephanie Mesdag realized this while on vacation. You have the option between a 6 speed manual or an automatic CVT transmission. If you have a brain you ll buy this car with the 6 speed manual. I believe every car should have a manual option as it is the best way to drive a car. It s more involving and makes you pay more attention to the road. Plus you can t text and drive or any other distracting weird thing people do while driving. In all when you look at these cars they are very similar but when you look a little deeper you can tell Mercedes is pulling the classic rip off I still give Mercedes kudos for their other cars, but this one just doesn t seem worth it to me. It s not a total rip off it s just you re gonna have to pay extra to get a car with a Mercedes badge on it. The statue of confederate soldiers have been here for a while too. The flags radiate hatred all over the US while the statues truly represented white supremacy. Three reasons why the Confederate flag and statues should be removed from the south are that many Southern folk believe the Confederate statues and flags is a part of southern heritage when it is not, Southerners believe it s actually right to always show free speech on what they believe in, and they don t care for the opinion of others who live there that see the flag as something that radiates hatred and darkness. Documentation In Nursing Essay Accurate nursing documentation is paramount to increased level of care for a patients that are admitted into hospitals, referred to other providers or discharged from care. An accurate medical record is by far the most reliable source of information on the care of a patient. The proper documentation by nurses prevents errors and facilitates continuity of care. Documentation plays a vital role in research, education, quality assurance and reimbursements for both patients and providers (Okaisu, Kalikwani, Wanyana, Coetzee, 2014, p. 1). The importance of documentation is not lost on any RN, but continuity in what is recorded and what is absolutely necessary to have in a patient s record is not always met. Case management in the emergency department, constantly works to find the right data in a patient s record to ensure that they have the correct insurance coverage and can be admitted or discharged at the appropriate time and place. Even when the smallest amount of essential information is not documented, this otherwise straight forward process turns into a scavenger hunt for who has seen the patient, interventions that were done and for what reasons, and at what time all of these things took place. In the following sections, the paper will attempt to assess the Bank work and its policies that has been carried out during the economic downturn. As Mizen (2003:196) noted, during the period from 1970s to early 1990s, a series of monetary policies that introduced by the British government turned out to be unsuccessful the inflation was out of control. The underperforming monetary policies provoked the reform in 1997, after which the new UK monetary policy framework was established according to Bank England Act 1998, giving independence to the Bank as well as assigning responsibility of monetary policy to the newly created Monetary Policy Committee (MPC). • 43. The Only Way Out in Richard Miller´s The Dark Night of the... Richard E. Miller, the author of The Dark Night of the Soul, is an English professor/executive director of the Plan genre Writing Center at Rutgers University. He studies the English curriculum in the U.S and questions if it is successful or a dying art. This is evident in The Dark night of the Soul, It can be quite a shock to confront the possibility that reading, writing, and talking exercise almost none of the powers we regularly attribute to them in our favorite stories. The dark night of the soul for literacy workers comes with the realization that training students to read, write, and talk in more critical and self reflective ways cannot protect them from the violent changes our culture is undergoing. Miller through out the essay ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... John. Miller though says that one can face their dark night of their soul by using the art of writing. To write by virtue of their deep insights into the human spirit; that a world filled with artistic creations is superior to one filled with the cast offs of the consumer culture; that writing provides access to immortality. Joining the Liars Club is a perfect example of someone using writing to face their past, their darkest part of their soul. Writing, as she uses it, is a hermeneutic practice that involves witnessing the mundane horrors of the past in order to make peace with that past , states Miller. The Dark night of one s soul is a personal fear, past, journey that in the end you reach a sense of peace. The book A Child Called It by Dave Pelzer is an exquisite book. It is Mr. Pelzers way of dealing with the dark night of his soul. He tells his journey through extreme child abuse, and how he overcame his past and now uses it for good. When I was younger and going through a rough time I picked up this book and read it in one day, I was overwhelmed with the fact that someone made it out of all that ,this great man did and he still continued to have a positive attitude. Seeing that he could face his past, now as an adult I know I can face mine. As I read his story tears poured down my face ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Women Of Latin American Culture Women of Latin American culture have incessantly ensued the potent gender roles that have become a social construction of their society over innumerable decades. The profound author of Insurgent Mexico, John Reed, imparts his experiences with the revolutionary leaders of the Mexican Revolution, like Pancho Villa, and was able to witness their culture and more specifically the roles these Mexican women were forced to render by their chauvinistic counterparts. This period of revolution, started to grant women new mantles usually reserved only for men, like participating in fighting for the success of the revolution; any preeminent changes would soon approach, but in the meantime Mexican society run by men enjoyed the regulated traditional ... In Reed s accounts he expressed how he heard the angry voice of the master of the house reminded the woman that she was not doing five or six things at once in which his woman would then go attend to the orders he had just given (Reed, 17). There is an order of importance to note that Reed always refers to these Mexican women as the man s woman and never their wife, however when he speaks through the woman s account he refers to the man as their husband. There is more respect demanded from the women of Mexican culture during the early 1900s because the men viewed their laborious work that brings in money as a means to deserve to be treated like masters of their family. The specifically crafted language Reed uses when he speaks of the labor the women perform, can demonstrate that he realizes they are weary and overworked. Along with everything Reed includes when he is describing the women work, there is important to also note that he omits any complaints made by women to their husbands. Throughout the novel in any interaction between and man and his woman, never did the woman complain about her arduous work and the commands she received. The work women did in Mexican culture is expected of them and it ties into machismo on part of the men because they feel their job is only to bring income while the wives took care of the rest. Taking this into account, Reed portrays these women to be tolerant and respectful not only to these men in their lives they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Type 1 diabetes (insulin dependent), often develops in childhood or early adulthood and is the outcome of the reaction of the autoimmune system which is produced as a result of the destruction of beta cells from the pancreas, when the body does not produce insulin. This usually happens because the insulin secreting cells of the pancreas do not function, or they are simply not there, have been destroyed or they are in small quantities that they cannot produce any insulin to properly control blood sugar levels. Since insulin is necessary to sustain life, the missing insulin has to be replaced and it is managed with regular insulin injections, the dose which is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Catechism In The Chick Tract This Chick Tract also touches on the idea of an all loving God which goes hand in hand with the idea of God giving His only begotten Son so that everyone else will be allowed eternal life (John 3:16 ). The fundamentalists try to state in this Chick Tract that God does not love Roman Catholics because God views them as a false religion. The fundamentalists believe that the Catholic Church is just trying to persuade people to join their faith and that it actually goes against the word of God. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Faith, Catholics believe in an all loving God due to the fact that He always provides for His people, forgives sins, and most importantly offers His followers an eternity of everlasting love with Him in heaven if they choose to do so (Cline, Austin, Is God Omnibenevolent). God has proven that He loves all of His followers and children not only through the giving of His Son, but also throughout other parts of the Bible. Deuteronomy 7:9 shows a great example of this love Remember that the Lord your God is the only God and that he is faithful. He will keep his covenant and show his constant love to a thousand generations of those who love him and obey his commands . God is telling his followers that if they remain faithful to Him, He will in return remain faithful to them, and will always guide them and keep them safe. This God does not seem to be a God of hate who could merely banish someone to spend the rest of eternity burning in hell for not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 50. The Pros And Cons Of Same-Sex Marriage On June 26th, 2015, the Supreme Court established, in Obergefell v. Hodges, that no law in the United States could bar a same sex couple from getting married. The court decided that the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitutions Equal Protection and Due Process Clauses guaranteed marriage as a right for same sex couples. The First Amendment protects the freedom of religion in the United States and has been used widely to protect the actions and beliefs of religious individuals in discriminating against LGBTQIA+ individuals. In the United States, there are a plethora of religions some of whom reject same sex marriage as part of their sincerely held religious beliefs. One such group is the Southern Baptist Convention, who after Obergefell v. Hodges, reaffirmed their beliefs that same sex marriage violates their religious principles. In August of 2015, the Windsor family, owners of a cake shop and members of the Southern Baptist Convention church, denied a same sex couple a wedding cake due to their personal religious beliefs. The couple brought a suit against the cake shop claiming that they were being discriminated against because of their sexual orientation which could violate the Fourteenth Amendment s Equal Protection Clause. In this essay, I will argue that the Windsors are not justified under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act or the First Amendment in discriminating against the same sex couple and that there is no form of democratic deliberation ...
