Keynesian Views On Money Price Relationship Essay
2.4 Keynesian Views on Money Price Relationship
Keynes accepted the classical view that increase in money supply causes rising prices or inflation only
when the aggregate output corresponds to full employment and aggregate supply curve is vertical.
Keynes published an article entitled How to Pay for the War in 1940, in which he developed a demand
side model incorporating inflation process with temporarily rigid prices in the labor market. The
primary concern of Keynes was to provide space for the necessary increase in output during war
where the economy had already reached the full employment level. At full employment level, as
aggregate demand increases it results in inflationary gap. This inflationary gap can be removed either
by taxation or by saving in such a way that aggregate demand equals existing output (Skidelsky 2000,
84).
Snowdon and Vane (2005) write
Keynes, in his How to Pay for the War (1940), advocated wartime fiscal restraint. This pamphlet is
described by Vines (2003, p. 343) as a marvelous piece of applied economics even if his plan was only
partially adopted (Keynes believed that an alternative system of universal rationing amounted to
Bolshevism ; see Skidelsky, 2000, p. 68). Keynes s analysis involved comparing aggregate demand,
including war expenditures, with potential aggregate supply. Keynes (see Skidelsky, 2000, p. 84)
defined the inflationary gap as the amount of purchasing power which has to be withdrawn control as

The Pros And Cons Of Field Trip To The Aquarium
Have you or another fellow teacher been wondering about what field trip to take that will enhance
your pupil s mind? Or have you been engulfed in the side effects of worry and/or stress? Well not to
worry. The Aquarium and Leonardo are here. They both have very amazing things in them that your
students will like. Such as things flying across the room right in front of you. I m sure one, or both, of
these locations will be the right field trip for you and your school. But, before you zoom to the
computer, then to the printer and finally to the copy machine, you need to know that there and the pros
of the building, but also some cons. That doesn t mean that your scholar won t enjoy the future field
tip, it just means that some extra safety precautions should be taken.
The Aquarium and Leonardo have many tremendous things hidden inside, but they both also have
remarkable architecture like a huge fin on the outside or glass in a cool circular shape. This provides
excitement for the kids when they first see the place. The excitement that sparks in first seeing the ...

every room you go to has a different ecosystem with their accompanying animals in is, or maybe
because in each ecosystem the air temperature changes to the air temperature it would usually be. Or
maybe because birds fly freely around the Aquarium. All of these variables would make any observer

Michael Cimino s The Deer Hunter
Michael Cimino s The Deer Hunter was problematic because it took place in three very different
environments and it was not always clear as to how they were related. Nonetheless, Cimino won
several Academy Awards because of his film s structure. Dividing the film into the three sections he
was able to tie different environments and depict the bloody Vietnam War and Americas involvement.
His film was very controversial but ultimately paid off.
As film imitates life, participation is usually involuntary. The first kind of participative experience is
when the audience member imagines themselves as the character in the film. This results in an escapes
from their sense of self, thus becoming one or more of the characters on the screen. The second

What Does Culture Affect Hr Philosophy, Policies And...
1. Culture gives societies their distinctive flavor and provides a guide as to how people interact and
what they expect from one another. How does culture affect HR philosophy, policies and programs?
Culture consists of symbolic system of values, attitudes, beliefs, and perceptions about appropriate
behaviors that are shared in our society as a way of life. In other words, culture is a set of meanings
(senses) and values that inform a particular way of life. It is lifestyle that shape and form a particular
human group. For this reason it is important to recognize that culture affect human resource
philosophy, policies and programs in the structure of organizations.
Culture affects organizations because their individuals are influenced by cognitive and motivational
perspectives. From a cognitive perspective, individuals are able to learn from different sets of values
that permit them to organize and process information about human resources management practices.
And, from the motivational perspective, we can understand how individuals view themselves and their
relationship with others. Both perspectives, cognitive and motivational, permit to have knowledge
about the mechanism of cultural influences in the human resources philosophy, policies and programs
in the organizations.
In addition, according to David Thomas and Mila Lazarova, there are two mechanisms that influence
and might be identified in the organizational structure: First, the organizational structure

1. all is in a man s hands and he lets it all slip from cowardice, that s an axiom. It would be

The Audience s Response to Let him have it! and The Daily Mail in Peter Medak s Film
How is the response of the audience manipulated in Peter Medak s film Let him have it! and The
Daily Mail article of November 1952? Do they both show bias?
In November 1952 a policeman was shot dead and another left wounded in what the Daily Mail called
a gun battle when Christopher Craig and Derek Bentley broke into the Barlow and Parker warehouse
in Croydon. I have looked at two media sources of information regarding this event. A newspaper
article taken from the Daily Mail 3rd November 1952 and Peter Medak s film Let him have it! . Using
these sources I intend to illustrate how they manipulate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What it evolved into wasn t a second battle of Sidney Street as the Daily Mail claims because Craig
was the only one shooting, until a police officer fired three warning shots into the air.
Leaving out bits of information such as how Craig jumped from the building after shooting the police
officer stops people from feeling sorry for the bandits and making up excuses for them like saying that
if he jumped he can t have meant it.
By writing about the gangsters as if they were shooting at everyone and not just to scare the police
away, the media have created an interesting story that people will want to read and find out how the
case progresses and what verdict it will get in court, which is the effect that they would have
anticipated.
The opening paragraph that declares that the London crime wave reached a new peak the night of 2nd
November 1952 is someone s opinion presented as a fact, as is the shootings on the roof being
associated with the Battle of Sidney Street . These are presented as facts so that people read them as
facts and believe them, whatever their own individual opinion is. Opinions will be argued with
because they are just someone s point of view whereas facts are solid, believable piece of information,
which reinforce the importance of a situation.

Gender Equality In Canada Essay
The number one factor that predicts the success of a nation is the connection they build with their
citizens. A well structured legal system ensures that the security of the country and its citizens are
protected at a high standard. One of the major factors that contributed to Canada s success and long
lived democracy is the strong legal system that was built from the ground up. The Canadian legal
system fulfills an extraordinary job at protecting citizen s rights and freedoms under the Canadian
Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Canada is known to be a cultural mosaic, encouraging and
welcoming people from all walks of life and religious belief. All citizens are protected under the

One example of this is the case between Gwen Jacob and the police. Jacob removed her top to cool off
on a sweltering summer day in July 1991 (CBC). She later was arrested for public indecency and
shortly released after making the case that she was discriminated against due to her gender, under
section 3 (1) of the Canadian Human Rights Act (Government of Canada). The gender equality
movement has been one factor that has been influencing modern day society. The out dated
conservative approach to this type of issue would be that it would be okay for men to go shirtless but
for women, it was an indecent gesture. Jacob s efforts prove that women can perform the same tasks as
men. This goes to show that the legislature in the Constitution, the Human Rights Act, protects
citizens from discrimination regardless the race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, age, sex,
sexual orientation, marital status, family status, genetic characteristics, disability and conviction for an
offence (Government of Canada). This case is one of many that prove the citizens of Canada are well
protected and further indicates towards a secure legal

Meeting the customer requirements (Oakland 2003) is a reasonable definition of quality.
Meeting the Customer s requirements is a tough challenge as the requirements of customer are like the
water of a tide; it s likely to change at any point of time. So identifying the expectations of the
customer and performing service in accordance to it is a task that requires great skill. But at the end of
the day if customer s expectation is met and the customer is satisfied with the product, we could say
that quality has been achieved.
For example; A Customer wanting a house to be built for him had come to my uncle s construction

The second type of communication in this scenario is operational communication. This involves
communicating about the progress of the project; passing information about its development and if
there are any changes in priorities. During this stage, my customer (guide) was regularly informed
about my progress. He would then suggest particulars that increased the overall quality of my work

Through such communication, my project was successfully completed on time in the way my guide

Mental Illness And Mental Health Stigma
Manic depression illness or what is now referred to as Bipolar disease is not created overnight. It is a
form of chemical imbalance that causes one to display both manic and hypomanic behaviors. It is a
serious illness that affects all aspects of ones life. The omnipresence of mental illness is increasing in
our time era. Our society s mental health stigma is the basis for why countless of people do not receive
the needed help, even as their lives begin to crumble. The prejudice faults placed on the one suffering
from the disease hold back our efforts to progress with treatments and move positively with mental
health. Dr. Kay Jamison was a senior in high school when she began experiencing the attacks that
came along with manic depressive disorder. It started with a manic phase in what she would describe
as hundreds of subsequent periods of high enthusiasm , (Jamison, p. 37 ). As her mania phase leveled
down, the depressive portion of the illness took its place. Feelings of fatigue, agitation, pain, and
sadness took form of the pleasurable feelings she once had. She began her undergraduate studies at the
University Of California, Los Angeles to study medicine. Her disorder took a raging turn when it
began affecting her academics and her social life. She experienced periods of despair where Jamison s
thoughts became racy and rapid, and her days felt dreadful. For each awfulness in life, however, I
seemed to have been given an offsetting stoke of luck (Jamison, p. 45).

In Ecology of Youth Collective Socialization , Nicotera, Williams, and Anthony argue that multiple
social ecology influences of peers, school, as well as neighborhoods are extensively related to youth s
well being, as well as misconducts. Within the article written, the intended audience consists of
scholars, professionals, parents, as well as current and future researchers. The three authors submitted
multiple hypotheses regarding the influences of peers, school, as well as neighborhoods on today s
youth while omitting familial influences. As presented above, the author s main objective for writing
this particular article is to present as well as analyze the collective socialization of today s youth
through peer, school, and neighborhood influences resulting in both positive as well as negative results
regarding their well being and misconducts. Their main arguments consist of their presentation as well
as analysis of the influences of both positive and negative outcomes. The author s base their analysis
on each of these influences through administered investigations, current studies, questionnaires, as
well as previous research from scholars to support the multiple hypotheses. The purpose of this
particular article consists of the examination of the influences of perceived neighborhoods, distal
peers, and proximal peers regarding the problematic behavior as well as well being of today s youth.

Lottie Moon is a young lady with a desire to minister the Chinese people. Lottie was born on

Rough Draft The writers of To His Coy Mistress and Coy Mistress use poetic devices such as tone and
imagery to create contrasting themes. Andrew Marvell, the writer of To His Coy Mistress , wrote the
poem persuasively, while Annie Finch, the author of Coy Mistress , wrote her poem as a rebuttal to his
persuasions, therefore contrasting each other in many ways. Marvell creates a distinct tone for each
stanza, these tones portray his deep, sincere desire as well as his insincere flattering. In the first stanza,
Marvell stated Two hundred (years) to adore each breast (15). He reveals this insincere, almost satiric
tone in order to flatter the girl he is addressing. Finch begins with a bitter tone, Lines 1 through 8 in

In literature there are many different critical views, in which all of them have very distinctive ideas
and beliefs. The value of these critical views is decided by the reader and may be different to each
one. When a reader approaches a work of literature they bring their own views and experiences with
them, so each reader will read each story differently. And even the same reader will never read the
same story the same way twice due to things that may have changed in his or her life. In Shirley
Jackson s The Lottery (509 15) and Eudora Welty s A Worn Path (568 74) one reader my feel

The next character would be Mr. Graves which one can blatantly see the ominous mean of death and

that since he is the oldest man in the town he has been there for a long time and could warn the other
of The Lottery . After that is Mrs. Delacroix which could also be a hard one to catch but the literal
translation in French to de la Croix is of the cross. So when a reader sees all of this on their
subsequent readings one would see from the introduction of all of the characters that there is a somber
warning (lively men die without warning by crucifixion) for Tessie Hutchinson; who shows up late
and says that she Clean forgot what day it was, (Jackson 511) showing that she is a free spirit. This
makes her stand out in the story letting the reader know the warning is for her. Then last but not least
there is Mrs. Dunbar who had to draw for her husband because he had a broken leg and ever since the
early days of sacrificial killings they have never offered someone or something with broken bones
because it would not please the gods and after all that was the whole point of the killing. Eudora Welty

Definition Of Comedy Essay
Some Risky Business The moment you all have been waiting for. You see the mic stand, the mic, a
stool, and a bottle of water. The stage is empty and silent, then someone appears on the stage. But in
that moment, you don t think about the reasons for your great anticipation, whether it is because
someone is entering the stage or the on coming laughter that you look forward to. This is one of stand
up comedy s greatest mysteries. These unknown mysteries bring life into us in many ways. Comedy
captures minds, by changing, evolving, and redefining everything we did or did not think. This

The meaning of laughter to all is not as simple, but much more complex. Comedians use comedy as a
door to educate minds, while using laughter as a safety room. Jokes are made by a formula, one
critiqued and created to perfection to make the listener believe in what they are saying. So, when the
moment comes and a joke is said, not only is the listener s voice unleashing sounds, but their minds
are releasing thoughts and questions. The question also begs us to consider when we laugh, with
whom, at whom, at what, and why (Carter and Villaverde, 104). Picture this, a room full of people that
are crying from laughter, heaving because they are out of breath, and smiling uncontrollably, right
after you release your deepest thoughts in one joke. This is the moment comedians live for, because
knowing that the crowd laughed meant they are right where the comedians need them, vulnerable. In
those few seconds the crowd is impressionable, laughing while questioning everything they ever
thought. This here is the change comedians have been looking for. In a TEDtalk with Chris Bliss
called Chris Bliss: Comedy Is Translation, he stated, Every act of communication is an act of
translation. In short, the language of comedy is a simple truth. Comedy educates in its own language.

Critical Analysis Of Punishment, By Seamus Heaney
Analysis of Punishment
Punishment, written by Seamus Heaney, is a poetry that has a corpse of a girl being as the main
subject. In this poem, Seamus Heaney indirectly links the brutality behind the corpse of a girl to the
modern form of brutality that existed when Irish rebels killed Irish females who were married to
Britain soldiers. This analysis of Punishment is divided into three main parts. First is to answer the
question To what extent is the poem lyrical? Next is an analysis of Seamus Heaney s usage of patterns
of sounds and phonologies. Last is an analysis of emotionally significant experiences.

The poet, in this stanza, is actually trying to allure readers to think that the girl charged for her
adultery for doing love in not a crime. Next, in stanza 7, the poet uses an idiomatic language to
describe the poor girl and calls her as My poor scapegoat. The usage of this idiomatic language shows
the poet s sorrow and pity feelings towards the girl due to the fact that the girl is considered as the
only victim because the other accomplice is a male. However, towards the end of the poetry, the poet s
attitude varies compared to that of in the beginning. In stanza 8, Seamus Heaney shows an ambivalent
attitude regarding his relation to the girl. He first claim to be in love with the girl by saying I almost
love you, but also shows his helplessness that he could do nothing by saying the stones of silence and
I am the artful voyeur. The stones of silence in this case is considered as an exophoric allusion or a

A Doll’S House. By Henrik Ibsen. Henrik Ibsen (1828-1906),
A Doll s House By Henrik Ibsen Henrik Ibsen (1828 1906), Norway s major playwright and poet
during the 19th century, was a pioneer of Western modernism (Wikipedia). His plays founded the
realist school of Western theatre and some literary critics even consider him as the father of realism or
refer to the rise of Ibsenism (iii) when discussing his work. A Doll s House (1879) is one of the most
influential plays in European literature because it created a new, realist style of staging plays, moving
away from epic theatrical conventions. Play s characters are living a regular life and belong to the
middle or upper middle class. A Doll s House presents the moral conflicts of its protagonists, Torvald
and Nora Helmer, by mixing between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Helmer shows his real face. He is a selfish and thankless man which urges Nora to leave the family.
The play represents a normal middle class family that functions according to the common gender roles
of the time. Ibsen uses symbols and images to show the contrast between interrelationship between
moral issues and their external manifestation in the play. Torvald dominates his wife, who is servile
and resembles a bird in the cage. Torvald frequently refers to her as skylark (4), squirrel, or doll. All of
these names belittle her and make her look subservient to him. The antagonists, Mrs. Linde, Mr.
Krogstad, and Dr. Rank, the family friend who is in secret love with Nora and suffering from a
terminal illness, play a crucial role in the play s dramatic development. These characters are insincere
and mirror the moral conflicts between Nora and Torvald. Moreover, Ibsen uses particular symbols to
show the moral weakness of Torvald and Nora s marriage. For example, the Christmas tree symbolizes
the family. The tree is dead, has no roots to support it, and is put in a place where visitors can see it for
ostentation. Torvald and Nora are interested in decorating it with artificial objects rather than enjoying
its natural beauty. Thus, the tree represents the disintegration of Nora and Torvald s marriage, its
lacking foundation of truth, understanding and honesty, and its artificial rules of

Impact Of Media On Gender And The Media
Impact of Media on Gender
Annie Hernandez

Abstract
Boys and girls have for long spans of time considered themselves to be different. The media and
advertising has played a significant role to make sure that they influence the way that boys and girls
view themselves. Society has always had a main focus on getting people to behave in certain ways, the
media has been magnificent at causing each gender to classify themselves in particular ways that
makes genders feel certain types of pressures to conform to what is expected of them. Gender
representations in the media have become such a problem that there are oversight agencies that are
being put together to help monitor the media.
For a number of years there has been a significant impact by the media on the way that genders
interpret themselves. There is a countless level of effort that the media puts in to ensure that people
abide by the gender roles that they created. In turn there is societal pressure to keep girls and boys in
the roles that are considered to be normal. The sense of what is normal for each gender gets
interpreted by the programming that the media offers. The way that genders are shown on television
and in media are increasingly becoming important in the way that the media business functions.
It is evident that the media has a great deal of influence when it comes to the way that genders are
perceived. The images that are placed in

famous shortly after the death of Holly. All of the other symbolism in this song revolves events that
happened around that time of Holly s death. McLean uses informal irony in the tone of the song to
convey this deep symbolism. Because of the depth, there is a big controversy on what some of the
words represent. Some people even think Miss American Pie represents the civil rights activist Martin
Luther King Jr.. One example of McLean s use of irony is in the story about Holly. The irony comes
from how he describes when Holly was younger, he borrowed a coat from James Dean, and then many
years later he was a famous singer. McLean uses a subjective point of view as he uses his
interpretations, comments, and judgments to appeal to pathos in this song.
McLean uses only two of the rhetorical appeals. Ethos is used when he describes the other singers
most people know about. And while Lenin read a book on Marx, emphasizes ethos because Lenin was
a famous singer who people respect. Pathos was used throughout the whole piece especially when he
said the lovers cried and the poets screamed. This quote describes the people s sadness towards the
death of Holly, which appeals to the listener in many emotional ways. He also uses

Virgin And Child As A Medieval Byzantine Icon
` Virgin and Child (Vladimir Virgin) is a medieval Byzantine icon. This icon is dated from the late
11th century and the early 12thcentury. This work is about a virgin and child, the Virgin being St.
Mary and the child being Jesus Christ. Unlike other icons of the Virgin and Child, this icon shows a
more personalized and compassionate image of the Virgin. Here St. Mary the virgin is shown to be
tender even in the way she is holding the child. The iconographer is unknown. However, the icon was
painted in Constantinople by a Hellenic iconographer. The Vladimir Virgin is the most eminent middle
Byzantine icon that was produced in Russia.
The Vladimir Virgin is currently in the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, it is tempera on wood panel,
with multiple layers of repainting, 2 61/2 x 1 9 . In this icon Mary is shown to be the Virgin of
Compassion. She is pressing her cheek against her son and contemplating his future. When the icon is
first viewed the attention is on the compassionate virgin. The virgins small mouth, long and straight
nose compliment her dark almond shaped eyes. She gives of an almost eerie and tender look.
However, the child s face is shown to be wiser and mature. He has an eternal look to him and his face
radiates. Christ is looking up at his mother with great admiration while her eyes are looking onward,
almost in a way of offering her child. You can see the love and passion the Virgin Mary holds for her
child, but you can also see the pain and fear she has

Bundelkhand III: How A Widow was Falsely Accused Of Selling Her Daughter
Abhishek Shrivastava
Natural calamities are often used as a political tool in India, be it drought or flood. As if the tragedy of
hunger deaths in the famished region of Bundelkhand is not enough, the allegations of human
trafficking against local Adivasis is adding insult to the injury.
The child marriages done under distress of poverty are being portrayed as a deliberate attempt to force
girls into the prostitution. Who are these people sensationalising the misfortune of famine? What will
they get out of maligning the villages and tribals of Bundelkhand?
Kashibai alias Kassu s story is a case in point. An Adivasi hailing from Mohanpura village in tribal
dominated Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On April 29, this wish came true as Bhagwati, Kassu s third offspring, tied the knot with Dharamdas.
The marriage proposal came through a relative of Kashibai. The bridegroom belonged to a Kurmi
family, a caste outside Kassu s community. Nevertheless, she gave her nod as the family of
Dharamdas was ready to bear all the expenses of marriage.
The wedding fell apart within the first four days. Kashibai s drug addict brother Ganesh was furious
that his niece was married outside the community. Some people from the village apparently provoked
Ganesh for vested interests. It was insinuated that Kashibai had sold her daughter for money. A
woman sarpanch from the Yadav community was also accused of taking money for the deal.
On May 2, the news hit the headlines of all major newspapers and local TV channels. The media
alleged that Kashibai had taken Rs 1 lakh to sell Bhagwati. Soon, the local administration and police
sprung into action. A team of the women s empowerment cell visited the village. Bhagwati was

Lady Bracknell s Epigrams
Wilde uses Lady Bracknell s controlling and ruthless character to convey women s powerful role as
the moral guardians in Victorian society. From the moment she enters Algernon s flat and offers her
opinion on all matters from whether one should live...or die to which side of Belgrave Square is
unfashionable , it is evident that Lady Bracknell holds the higher judgment. Her domineering authority
is reinforced during Jack s attempt to propose to Gwendolen, as Lady Bracknell bluntly orders him to
rise from his semi recumbent posture . Despite the fact that women were considered the weaker
gender in the Victorian era, Jack is clearly and deliberately placed in the inferior position of power so
as to highlight women s influential role of picking their daughter s husband. Through Lady Bracknell s
assumption of her role as a moral guardian, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Algernon s remark that divorces are made in Heaven is a twisted version of the well known saying
that marriages are made in Heaven , thus attacking the convention of marriage. Algernon constantly
weaves epigrams like this into his conversations due to their artful structure that satisfies his aesthetic
lifestyle. Additionally, Wilde uses characters who appear to dutifully conform to the Victorian views to
portray the hypocrisy of the era s conventions through their unintentional use of epigrams. This is
shown when Gwendolen states that style, not sincerity is the vital thing , which completely contradicts
the Victorian era s focus on earnestness. Furthermore, the lack of truth and sense in epigrams conveys
Wilde s core view that Victorian society was constructed on trivial social mores designed exclusively
for appearance. Through his skilful manipulation of truisms, he successfully ridicules the social mores
of the Victorian era while providing an insight to the vacuous nature of the Victorian

Comparing Obasan And Naomi s Road
The Differences Between Adults and Children Life is so short, the past so long. Shouldn t we turn the
page and move on? Those are the fascinating words from the famous Canadian writer Joy Kogawa.
Growing up during World War II, surrounded by the Japanese Canadian internment, her life as a little
girl was not the easiest. Her past during that same time period is seen in her two works titled Obasan
and Naomi s Road. Obasan is from the perspective of adult Naomi Nakane whose story is told through
flashbacks and items she comes across. The second work, Naomi s Road, is centered around young
Naomi as she faces the world of discrimination by her country and citizens around her who are in the
name of national security. Both books together express the influence on her life from childhood
journey and the difficultness she experienced while aging. These two books portray the same message,
yet in different methods due to the type of audience Kogawa identifies in each. Obasan is written for
adults, yet Naomi s Road is written for children. Joy Kogawa acknowledges the differences upon
adults and children through the use of her two major works. One of the first topics Kogawa
differentiates is the difference between adults and children s minds. While reading Obasan, I was

Food Critic Criticism
As a food critic, you take great pleasure in tasting and exploring new foods.
You cannot afford to be picky about food.
If you love being judgemental and you are a very descriptive and detailed writer than this might be
perfect for you!
Food critics have to have great writing skills to be able to describe their experience in the most artistic
way possible.
On the other hand, if you re very bland and your writing is pretty boring, you probably won t be able
to find a job.
You must be comfortable working with others whether you re reviewing for a magazine, newspaper,
or website and be prepared for many deadlines!
As washingtonian.com explains, deadlines are strike, a job is a job so even if you have food poisoning,
you will still be expected to meet the deadline.
You must be okay with being away from home and family.
Although most of the time, food critics work on their own schedule, they are often away frequently,
especially if their job includes travel.
In an interview for the June 2014 issue of Harvard Business Review, Ruth Reichel talks about her
experience of having to be away from home.
She describes having to eat out for dinner every night, so often that her son confronted her by asking,
Why don t we ever have family dinner?,
And most interestingly, You have to be a spy and keep your identity secret when reviewing a
restaurant.

Impact of Fire on the Geology of Soils Essay
Fires are an important and healthy process in many ecosystems. The lack of fires can cause new plant
communities to invade an area . The regular occurrence of fires can keep one plant community
dominate, like oak savannas. Fires can leave burnt sticks the size of trees and clumps of charcoal
where bunch grass use to grow, but not for long. An area that was burned will re grow, grasslands will
be green the next growing season and forests will typically show new growth soon after. Somewhere
in the process of a fire the soil it travels over is effected. Alterations happen immediately after a fire
passes over a soil and can continue years after a fire has gone. Soils are impacted in two main ways;
by the entering of nutrients form the brunt ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The differences between the two may effect how the alterations of soil are disturbed, but both will
undergo the same general processes.
The heat of a fire has many effects on the properties of a soil. The effects are not the same for every
soil type because it depends on what is present in the soil before the fire. In my paper, I will be
exploring different types of alterations a soil may undergo as a result of a fire. The three main areas I
am going to look at are; change in color and structure, hydrophobic properties after a fire, and the
alteration in nutrient cycles, in particular nitrogen. In conjunction with what changes occur to the
properties of a soil, I will also be looking at management practices that can lessen the undesirable
changes in soil.
Effects on soil color and structure
In heating most substances, change in color and texture or structure occurs, this generally holds true in
the case of soils. A. L. Ulery and R. C. Graham (1993) did a study on how fire alters both color and
texture of soils. The color of the burned soils tended to redden in hue and have higher chromas and
values after burning, than did the unburned soil of the same type (Ulery and Graham, 1993). One
reason that the color changed is most likely due to the translocation and transformation of nutrients
and minerals in the soil. As the soil burns the heat alters individual minerals in the soil. The redder
color in the soil was caused by an

The Discussion of Homosexuality in Comic Books
The discussion of homosexuality in comic books has a long history, reaching back to 1954, when
German American psychiatrist Frederick Wertham published Seduction of the Innocent, a book that
warned about the negative effect of popular literature. The book was a minor bestseller and was taken
seriously at the time, creating alarm in parents with the claim that reading the crime , superhero and
horror comics that contain descriptions of violence, sex, drug use and other adult themes, children will
be encouraged to similar behavior (Wikipedia). More than five decades later the song remains the
same; not much seems to have changed in society s mentality. Parents fear that violent video games
will make their children into raging psychopaths, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

LGBTQ characters and watching the reaction of fans, testing the waters. Twelve states have approved
same sex marriage legislation in the US, celebrities and sportsmen are coming out to the public, with
Pope Francis statement that gays and lesbians must be accepted with respect, compassion and
sensitivity , even the Catholic Church seems to have turned around and has pressed the reset button on
the Roman Catholic Church s treatment of LGBT people (Chad Griffin), and in spite of all this, just in
the past 3 years, there have been more than forty registered fatal hate crimes targeting gay, lesbian,

The comic book industry did not ignore the issue either, and with all the other major media, comics
have made a statement; with all the superheroes that are literally coming out of the closet, the fact that
just this past year, there have been two same sex marriages on the covers of the Astonishing X men
and Archie, two big brand comic books, and that the first transgender comic book character, the
roommate of Batgirl, Alysia Yeoh, was introduced, this supposed cult medium turned into one of the
strongest advocates for gay rights and marriage equality (Zachary, Esquire blogs). It might seem like
homosexual characters are a new concept in comic books, though in fact they appeared as early as the

Is Education A Moral And Civilised Society Which Is At...
Education s main goal is to establish a civilised, moral and contented society which is at ease with
itself (Hayes, 2008). This interpretation of education is one which I have seen gather meaning
throughout my placement, if posed with the question what is the aim of education? prior to my
placement my response would have been a generic and standard answer referring to the possibilities of
getting a job in the future and to meet government and societies standards. But my time on placement
has allowed me to reflect upon and respond to the excellent teaching I have witnessed which has had a
focus on meeting standards but there is an edge to the style of teaching, characterising how the teacher
cares for every single child as an individual and wishes to see them grow and develop as individuals.
This article of work has been broken down into four main sections; these sections are the main entries
from my reflective diary which in my opinion are the most significant experiences from my time. The
first section is focused primarily on how the teachers rapport which is built through her affection and
care to her class which consequently inspires the class to work and behave for her and how this affects
the behaviour management strategies used in the classroom, secondly I will look at the differentiation
between pupils in the classroom, the role of the teaching assistant in the classroom and finally the use
of questioning in the classroom. How teacher pupil rapport affects

  • 2. Keynesian Views On Money Price Relationship Essay 2.4 Keynesian Views on Money Price Relationship Keynes accepted the classical view that increase in money supply causes rising prices or inflation only when the aggregate output corresponds to full employment and aggregate supply curve is vertical. Keynes published an article entitled How to Pay for the War in 1940, in which he developed a demand side model incorporating inflation process with temporarily rigid prices in the labor market. The primary concern of Keynes was to provide space for the necessary increase in output during war where the economy had already reached the full employment level. At full employment level, as aggregate demand increases it results in inflationary gap. This inflationary gap can be removed either by taxation or by saving in such a way that aggregate demand equals existing output (Skidelsky 2000, 84). Snowdon and Vane (2005) write Keynes, in his How to Pay for the War (1940), advocated wartime fiscal restraint. This pamphlet is described by Vines (2003, p. 343) as a marvelous piece of applied economics even if his plan was only partially adopted (Keynes believed that an alternative system of universal rationing amounted to Bolshevism ; see Skidelsky, 2000, p. 68). Keynes s analysis involved comparing aggregate demand, including war expenditures, with potential aggregate supply. Keynes (see Skidelsky, 2000, p. 84) defined the inflationary gap as the amount of purchasing power which has to be withdrawn control as the most efficient ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Or have you been engulfed in the side effects of worry and/or stress? Well not to worry. The Aquarium and Leonardo are here. They both have very amazing things in them that your students will like. Such as things flying across the room right in front of you. I m sure one, or both, of these locations will be the right field trip for you and your school. But, before you zoom to the computer, then to the printer and finally to the copy machine, you need to know that there and the pros of the building, but also some cons. That doesn t mean that your scholar won t enjoy the future field tip, it just means that some extra safety precautions should be taken. They get so many visitors that come back, so that gives us a clue that it is a great place that so many people want to come back. Michael Cimino s The Deer Hunter Michael Cimino s The Deer Hunter was problematic because it took place in three very different environments and it was not always clear as to how they were related. Nonetheless, Cimino won several Academy Awards because of his film s structure. Dividing the film into the three sections he was able to tie different environments and depict the bloody Vietnam War and Americas involvement. His film was very controversial but ultimately paid off. As film imitates life, participation is usually involuntary. • 5. What Does Culture Affect Hr Philosophy, Policies And... 1. Culture gives societies their distinctive flavor and provides a guide as to how people interact and what they expect from one another. How does culture affect HR philosophy, policies and programs? Culture consists of symbolic system of values, attitudes, beliefs, and perceptions about appropriate behaviors that are shared in our society as a way of life. In other words, culture is a set of meanings (senses) and values that inform a particular way of life. It is lifestyle that shape and form a particular human group. For this reason it is important to recognize that culture affect human resource philosophy, policies and programs in the structure of organizations. Culture affects organizations because their individuals are influenced by cognitive and motivational perspectives. From a cognitive perspective, individuals are able to learn from different sets of values that permit them to organize and process information about human resources management practices. And, from the motivational perspective, we can understand how individuals view themselves and their relationship with others. Both perspectives, cognitive and motivational, permit to have knowledge about the mechanism of cultural influences in the human resources philosophy, policies and programs in the organizations. In addition, according to David Thomas and Mila Lazarova, there are two mechanisms that influence and might be identified in the organizational structure: First, the organizational structure ... • 6. Crime and Punishment Quotes 1. all is in a man s hands and he lets it all slip from cowardice, that s an axiom. It would be interesting to know what it is men are most afraid of. –Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov By saying this Raskolnikov suggests that men are capable of doing whatever they wish, and the only thing that holds them back are their fears. Because of this Raskolnikov wonders what man s greatest fear is, and with that comes the one thing that no man is capable of doing. 2. for though Pyotr Petrovitch has been so kind as to undertake part of the expenses of the journey, that is to say, he has taken upon himself the conveyance of our bags and big trunks. She is telling Raskolnikov that it s not her place to choose whether or not someone lives or dies. She believes that nobody has that right and that the decision is up to a ‘Divine Providence. 9. But never had men considered themselves so intellectual and so completely in possession of the truth as these sufferers, never had they considered their decisions, their scientific conclusions, their moral convictions so infallible. –Raskolnikov s dream In his dream, Raskolnikov realizes that his assumption of ‘extraordinary men is imperfect; and that there are severe costs to these ‘extraordinary men being able to commit crimes and break the laws that everyone else abides by. 10. Early one evening during an exceptional heat wave in the beginning of July, a young man walked out into the street from the little room he rented from tenants on S. The Audience s Response to Let him have it! and The Daily Mail in Peter Medak s Film How is the response of the audience manipulated in Peter Medak s film Let him have it! and The Daily Mail article of November 1952? Do they both show bias? In November 1952 a policeman was shot dead and another left wounded in what the Daily Mail called a gun battle when Christopher Craig and Derek Bentley broke into the Barlow and Parker warehouse in Croydon. What it evolved into wasn t a second battle of Sidney Street as the Daily Mail claims because Craig was the only one shooting, until a police officer fired three warning shots into the air. Leaving out bits of information such as how Craig jumped from the building after shooting the police officer stops people from feeling sorry for the bandits and making up excuses for them like saying that if he jumped he can t have meant it. By writing about the gangsters as if they were shooting at everyone and not just to scare the police away, the media have created an interesting story that people will want to read and find out how the case progresses and what verdict it will get in court, which is the effect that they would have anticipated. The opening paragraph that declares that the London crime wave reached a new peak the night of 2nd November 1952 is someone s opinion presented as a fact, as is the shootings on the roof being associated with the Battle of Sidney Street . These are presented as facts so that people read them as facts and believe them, whatever their own individual opinion is. • 8. Gender Equality In Canada Essay The number one factor that predicts the success of a nation is the connection they build with their citizens. A well structured legal system ensures that the security of the country and its citizens are protected at a high standard. One of the major factors that contributed to Canada s success and long lived democracy is the strong legal system that was built from the ground up. The Canadian legal system fulfills an extraordinary job at protecting citizen s rights and freedoms under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Canada is known to be a cultural mosaic, encouraging and welcoming people from all walks of life and religious belief. All citizens are protected under the Human Rights Act and can approach the appropriate authorities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One example of this is the case between Gwen Jacob and the police. Jacob removed her top to cool off on a sweltering summer day in July 1991 (CBC). She later was arrested for public indecency and shortly released after making the case that she was discriminated against due to her gender, under section 3 (1) of the Canadian Human Rights Act (Government of Canada). The gender equality movement has been one factor that has been influencing modern day society. The out dated conservative approach to this type of issue would be that it would be okay for men to go shirtless but for women, it was an indecent gesture. Jacob s efforts prove that women can perform the same tasks as men. This goes to show that the legislature in the Constitution, the Human Rights Act, protects citizens from discrimination regardless the race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, family status, genetic characteristics, disability and conviction for an offence (Government of Canada). This case is one of many that prove the citizens of Canada are well protected and further indicates towards a secure legal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Meeting the Customer s requirements is a tough challenge as the requirements of customer are like the water of a tide; it s likely to change at any point of time. So identifying the expectations of the customer and performing service in accordance to it is a task that requires great skill. But at the end of the day if customer s expectation is met and the customer is satisfied with the product, we could say that quality has been achieved. During this stage, my customer (guide) was regularly informed about my progress. He would then suggest particulars that increased the overall quality of my work and made it a better product. Through such communication, my project was successfully completed on time in the way my guide preferred. • 10. Mental Illness And Mental Health Stigma Manic depression illness or what is now referred to as Bipolar disease is not created overnight. It is a form of chemical imbalance that causes one to display both manic and hypomanic behaviors. It is a serious illness that affects all aspects of ones life. The omnipresence of mental illness is increasing in our time era. Our society s mental health stigma is the basis for why countless of people do not receive the needed help, even as their lives begin to crumble. The prejudice faults placed on the one suffering from the disease hold back our efforts to progress with treatments and move positively with mental health. Dr. Kay Jamison was a senior in high school when she began experiencing the attacks that came along with manic depressive disorder. It started with a manic phase in what she would describe as hundreds of subsequent periods of high enthusiasm , (Jamison, p. 37 ). As her mania phase leveled down, the depressive portion of the illness took its place. Feelings of fatigue, agitation, pain, and sadness took form of the pleasurable feelings she once had. She began her undergraduate studies at the University Of California, Los Angeles to study medicine. Her disorder took a raging turn when it began affecting her academics and her social life. She experienced periods of despair where Jamison s thoughts became racy and rapid, and her days felt dreadful. For each awfulness in life, however, I seemed to have been given an offsetting stoke of luck (Jamison, p. 45). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After that is Mrs. Delacroix which could also be a hard one to catch but the literal translation in French to de la Croix is of the cross. So when a reader sees all of this on their subsequent readings one would see from the introduction of all of the characters that there is a somber warning (lively men die without warning by crucifixion) for Tessie Hutchinson; who shows up late and says that she Clean forgot what day it was, (Jackson 511) showing that she is a free spirit. This makes her stand out in the story letting the reader know the warning is for her. • 17. Definition Of Comedy Essay Some Risky Business The moment you all have been waiting for. You see the mic stand, the mic, a stool, and a bottle of water. The stage is empty and silent, then someone appears on the stage. But in that moment, you don t think about the reasons for your great anticipation, whether it is because someone is entering the stage or the on coming laughter that you look forward to. This is one of stand up comedy s greatest mysteries. These unknown mysteries bring life into us in many ways. Comedy captures minds, by changing, evolving, and redefining everything we did or did not think. This gateway to bliss aids our bodies through chemicals we produce. But most importantly, it is a huge factor in our human makeup, and how we communicate and relate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The meaning of laughter to all is not as simple, but much more complex. Comedians use comedy as a door to educate minds, while using laughter as a safety room. Jokes are made by a formula, one critiqued and created to perfection to make the listener believe in what they are saying. So, when the moment comes and a joke is said, not only is the listener s voice unleashing sounds, but their minds are releasing thoughts and questions. The question also begs us to consider when we laugh, with whom, at whom, at what, and why (Carter and Villaverde, 104). Picture this, a room full of people that are crying from laughter, heaving because they are out of breath, and smiling uncontrollably, right after you release your deepest thoughts in one joke. This is the moment comedians live for, because knowing that the crowd laughed meant they are right where the comedians need them, vulnerable. In those few seconds the crowd is impressionable, laughing while questioning everything they ever thought. This here is the change comedians have been looking for. In a TEDtalk with Chris Bliss called Chris Bliss: Comedy Is Translation, he stated, Every act of communication is an act of translation. In short, the language of comedy is a simple truth. Comedy educates in its own language. Only those brave enough and self assured can conquer such a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Next, in stanza 7, the poet uses an idiomatic language to describe the poor girl and calls her as My poor scapegoat. The usage of this idiomatic language shows the poet s sorrow and pity feelings towards the girl due to the fact that the girl is considered as the only victim because the other accomplice is a male. However, towards the end of the poetry, the poet s attitude varies compared to that of in the beginning. In stanza 8, Seamus Heaney shows an ambivalent attitude regarding his relation to the girl. He first claim to be in love with the girl by saying I almost love you, but also shows his helplessness that he could do nothing by saying the stones of silence and I am the artful voyeur. Henrik Ibsen (1828-1906), A Doll s House By Henrik Ibsen Henrik Ibsen (1828 1906), Norway s major playwright and poet during the 19th century, was a pioneer of Western modernism (Wikipedia). His plays founded the realist school of Western theatre and some literary critics even consider him as the father of realism or refer to the rise of Ibsenism (iii) when discussing his work. A Doll s House (1879) is one of the most influential plays in European literature because it created a new, realist style of staging plays, moving away from epic theatrical conventions. He is a selfish and thankless man which urges Nora to leave the family. The play represents a normal middle class family that functions according to the common gender roles of the time. Ibsen uses symbols and images to show the contrast between interrelationship between moral issues and their external manifestation in the play. Torvald dominates his wife, who is servile and resembles a bird in the cage. Torvald frequently refers to her as skylark (4), squirrel, or doll. All of these names belittle her and make her look subservient to him. The antagonists, Mrs. Linde, Mr. Krogstad, and Dr. Rank, the family friend who is in secret love with Nora and suffering from a terminal illness, play a crucial role in the play s dramatic development. These characters are insincere and mirror the moral conflicts between Nora and Torvald. Moreover, Ibsen uses particular symbols to show the moral weakness of Torvald and Nora s marriage. For example, the Christmas tree symbolizes the family. The tree is dead, has no roots to support it, and is put in a place where visitors can see it for ostentation. Torvald and Nora are interested in decorating it with artificial objects rather than enjoying its natural beauty. Thus, the tree represents the disintegration of Nora and Torvald s marriage, its lacking foundation of truth, understanding and honesty, and its artificial rules of ... The heat of a fire has many effects on the properties of a soil. The effects are not the same for every soil type because it depends on what is present in the soil before the fire. In my paper, I will be exploring different types of alterations a soil may undergo as a result of a fire. The three main areas I am going to look at are; change in color and structure, hydrophobic properties after a fire, and the alteration in nutrient cycles, in particular nitrogen. In conjunction with what changes occur to the properties of a soil, I will also be looking at management practices that can lessen the undesirable changes in soil. Effects on soil color and structure In heating most substances, change in color and texture or structure occurs, this generally holds true in the case of soils. A. L. Ulery and R. C. Graham (1993) did a study on how fire alters both color and texture of soils. The color of the burned soils tended to redden in hue and have higher chromas and values after burning, than did the unburned soil of the same type (Ulery and Graham, 1993). One reason that the color changed is most likely due to the translocation and transformation of nutrients and minerals in the soil. As the soil burns the heat alters individual minerals in the soil. • 37. Is Education A Moral And Civilised Society Which Is At... Education s main goal is to establish a civilised, moral and contented society which is at ease with itself (Hayes, 2008). This interpretation of education is one which I have seen gather meaning throughout my placement, if posed with the question what is the aim of education? prior to my placement my response would have been a generic and standard answer referring to the possibilities of getting a job in the future and to meet government and societies standards. But my time on placement has allowed me to reflect upon and respond to the excellent teaching I have witnessed which has had a focus on meeting standards but there is an edge to the style of teaching, characterising how the teacher cares for every single child as an individual and wishes to see them grow and develop as individuals. This article of work has been broken down into four main sections; these sections are the main entries from my reflective diary which in my opinion are the most significant experiences from my time. The first section is focused primarily on how the teachers rapport which is built through her affection and care to her class which consequently inspires the class to work and behave for her and how this affects the behaviour management strategies used in the classroom, secondly I will look at the differentiation between pupils in the classroom, the role of the teaching assistant in the classroom and finally the use of questioning in the classroom. • 39. Arm Wrestling With My Father Essay It was ice cold throughout the atmosphere, the sun rays couldn t make it past the thick clouds, and the wind whipped all around the school and all I could think about was readying my performance for the judges at Terry high school. Area has always been my dream ever since I entered high school, but I had yet to achieve it. My monstrous mind and ability desperately wanted to earn that honorific badge of making it to Area and displaying that I am an elite trombonist within the Houston high school region. Coming out on top is not a very easy task to accomplish especially if it is to become the Champion of the World. This short story written by Angelou exemplifying the rejoice of coming out on top not only against another well versed opponent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Arm Wrestling with My Father Manning s father is the protectorate and authoritarian position throughout his younger life, but Manning would always detest ideas, fight, and with no avail, he would always contest with his dad at strength tests, arm wrestling, as this was the main way he and his father would communicate. Eventually, Manning was able to overcome his dad at arm wrestling (with many convictions), and this very closely correlates with my success at going to Area my senior year. I vividly remember watching the results for trombonists held in a director s hand moving towards the window for display as a huge mass of bodies surrounded me profusely sweating from roughhousing for the past hour or so, and I read the scoring list bottom up as I thought I had done poorly. I discerned my hopes and dreams of becoming an Area finalist in the Houston area. I kept scrolling my eyes higher and higher up the list and as soon as I was done reading the second highest band my heart fell to the bottom of my chest thinking I had not even made a single band, but out of nowhere I saw my name in the Area bracket. I ecstatically flew two feet in the air in full knowledge that I had made Area, for the next step was auditioning to become one of the best in the entire state of Texas. Just as Manning defeated his father, I made it to the prelims becoming a state ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
