Personal Narrative-Sacrifice Attacks In The US
I barely recognize these fig strangled ruins. I used to come here as a kid. I mean, relations between the
two states wasn t cordial or anything, and there were violent incidents, and most of us stayed to
ourselves in our own little resorts, but in those days, the border was open and people could travel
freely between the two lands, with only a checkpoint or two between the traveler and a little bit of rest
and relaxation on the other side, if you know what I mean. Stuff that didn t really interest pre teen me.
But Kelantan did have the largest ferris wheel on the planet, and it s probably just twisted metal and
powdered rust now. Every building here taller than three stories had been bombed until it was no
longer taller than three stories. Everything from the smallest tent to the highest tower is to be treated
as enemy infrastructure. The city was all riotous viridescence and turquoise pools of water beneath
low hanging slate skies, shadowy figures and war machines. Far off in the distance, somebody broke

admit it, my attraction to her was entirely physical, and all I really knew about her is that we were in
some classes together and she was interested in student government, even if they were about as

My Last Day On Earth Essay
You never know when your last day on Earth will be, make the best out of everyday. My mother told
my brother and I the night before tragedy struck. I went to bed on that quiet night in May; woken up
by a terrible and heartbreaking nightmare. The nightmare was composed of my cousin, Travis, dying
in a car crash. Staying awake for ten more minutes to receive a phone call that my nightmare has
become a reality. Being only 14 years old, I couldn t quite grasp the idea that my best friend, my other
brother, and my big cousin has just left all of us forever. For the next 5 years of my life, I applied my
mothers saying, you never know when your last day on Earth will be, make the best out of everyday to
everything I did/do. Travis would have never known his last day on Earth would be May 21st, 2012,
only 19 years old. Life can be taken away from us in split second; so why don t we live each day like
its our last? Why do people take love and life for granted? Sadly, it takes tragedy to make people
realize that tomorrow is not granted.
I was six years old when Travis moved out of our house. Thinking he was my brother until then, I was
surprised when my mom said, Tell your cousin bye, Brookie. . Since the day he moved out, he
continued to be my very best friend. Calling him every night, upset about family issues, school work,
the fight I had with my friend that day, he was there for me every single night getting me through it
all; then as soon as my life got much more hard,

Space Race Evolution
Even though the Earth has been around for a few billion years, it has been only 200,000 years when
the first homo sapiens, modern human species, came to existence. To put it into perspective, if the arm
length represents the timeline, the shoulder is the Big Bang, the beginning of the finger nail is when
the dinosaurs existed, and the human start to become a possibility right around the tip of the finger.
Even more astounding, industrialization started only in the 1800s, which estimated 200 years to
develop to the current society. The remarkable number is evidence to human extraordinary intelligence
and limitless capabilities to transform ambition into reality; however, any development will reach to a
point where the growth is less significant than it is used to be. This is referred as the law of
diminishing return. Therefore, the research for a more advanced technology, Artificial Intelligence, or
AI, has become the new Space Race of the 21st century. Many ... Show more content on

If human hadn t eaten the food the same way the ancestor of over a half million years ago did, which
was to cook them first, it would have taken more than nine hours of eating a day to power the brain.

absorption of nutrients. The same idea applies with allowing AI to take over time consuming and
difficult task. The impact that AI brings far more than just direct consequences. With AI, people work
less and can spend more time exercising, maintaining a balance between physical and mental health,
which prevents stress and lowers the suicide or crime rate. Others can volunteer and help people in
need while some can spend more time with their relatives. The smartest one after all is still humans.

Treatment Of Patients With Renal Failure
Every year more and more patients are diagnosed with renal failure. In hemodialysis the amount of
dialysis each patient receives is less, compared to at home dialysis and nocturnal dialysis treatments.
Kidneys are important organs for survival. Humans cannot filter harmful wastes, fluids, salts,
potassium, and phosphorus without kidneys. When diagnosed with renal failure a patient relies on a
dialysis machine to adequately remove the harmful wastes from their blood. One of the main ongoing
battles between dialysis patients and their providers is adequate fluid control. There are
recommendations set out for patients to follow but with weather getting hotter each year, patients are
finding it harder to abide by the rules due to excess ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Between 1943 and 1945, Dr. Willem Kolff finished his invention and tested the machine on 16
patients, but had unsuccessful trials. Around 1945, he treated a 67 year old who successfully woke up
from a coma, after being on hemodialysis for 11 hours. With all the new advancements today,
successful outcomes should be the first thing doctors think of, rather than, focusing on the number of
patients nephrology can schedule in. Lupus is another concern that nephrology faces which affect all
races and has made it more of a challenge for doctors throughout the years. In most cases, patients
with end stage renal disease and lupus get separated from the other patients because they are classified
as higher risk. Antonio Inda Filho, et al., believe that The development of lupus related end stage renal
disease (ESRD) confers the highest mortality rates among individuals with lupus (590). Unfortunately,
this is true only when doctors are unable to stabilize systemic lupus. This should not be a debatable
topic, nephrologist need to communicate with rheumatology and come up with an aggressive dialysis
plan, which will not only assist in the removal of the harmful toxins, but will also help with
stabilization. Antonio Inda Filho, et al., addressed that The complication alterations contributes to the
speeding process of atherosclerosis and a higher chance of infection (591). End stage renal disease

Lower Athabasca River System
The Lower Athabasca River (LAR), in northern Alberta, Canada, begins north of Fort McMurray and
flows to the Athabasca Delta and Lake Athabasca. Throughout its course, the river cuts through
natural bitumen deposits, (Conly et al. 2002) and runs adjacent to the Oil Sands developments. Fine
cohesive sediments and associated chemical constituents such as metals and polycyclic aromatic
hydrocarbons (PAHs) play an important role in the LAR ecosystem (Ghosh et al. 2000, Garcia Aragon
et al. 2011). Therefore, there is a great demand to characterize the contribution of bitumen deposits to
the sediments and chemicals in Athabasca River system. Experimental assessment of cohesive
sediment deposition dynamics in Athabasca River and tributaries has been ... Show more content on

The proposed numerical frame work for the study is summarized in Figure 1. A one dimensional (1D)
model is used for large scale long term simulation of flow hydrodynamics and sediment transport
patterns in the LAR. Furthermore, a 1D ice model is used to predict the winter ice coverage and its
effect on the river flow characteristics; however, other ice processes (such as ice breakup) are not
taken into account. The results of the ice model are used to modify the sediment transport and
hydrodynamic models to account for the effect of winter ice cover. The sediment transport simulations
serve as the basis for setting up contaminant transport models for a selection of three PAH (pyrene

Coaggregation Essay
The primary outcome of this study showed coaggregation between A. radioresistens and S.
epidermidis or S. haemolyticus, though the coaggregation was mild and sporadic. Additionally, the
combination of S. epidermidis or S. haemolyticus with M. luteus demonstrated coaggregation.
However, no coaggregating pairs exhibited the high scores as presented by the positive control paring
of A. naeslundii ATCC 12104 and S. sanguinis CR2B, which resemble the findings of the previous
study.41 From the data presented here, it is clear that the microorganism were isolated from same

is still unknown. The present study also has shown the adhesion of Staphylococcus spp. had the
influence in the adhesion of A. radioresistens. The rate of bacterial growth in liquid medium, builds
the argument of cohesion results where M. luteus or A. radioresistens was initiated the growth of S.
epidermidis and S. haemolyticus in BHI. There was a reduction in the growth of M. luteus with
Staphylococcus spp; although the contrary was expressed in cohesion assay.
The current study also has investigated the inhibitory effect of lactose, sucrose and pronase in the
coaggregation. Sato et al (1984) demonstrated that coaggregation between actinomycetes and
streptococci occurred via lectin like substances (i.e. substances similar or identical to proteins that
bind sugars) on the surface of actinomycetes with carbohydrate(s) on the surface of streptococci.47
Pre treating Staphylococcus spp. with lactose and sucrose inhibited the coaggregation which indicates
the involvement of Staphylococci lectins in the coaggregation which again resembles the finding of
the previous study. The ocular isolates of S. aureus and S. epidermidis inhibited the coaggregation
with P. aeruginosa and S. marcescens when pre treated with lactose or sucrose.41 However, the
selected inhibitory sugars were unable to stop coaggregation with Micrococcus spp. and Acinetobacter

The Indian Culture in Slum dog Millionaire
Slum dog Millionaire: Indian Culture
I chose to learn a little bit more about Indian culture, and I thought Slum Dog Millionaire was a great
resource to do so. This movie depicts the story of 2 young Indian boys and their journey in life
through love, hardship, and culture. The story starts out with the two boy living a happy life with their
mother, but when their mother dies from the religious wars they are forced to learn to fend for
themselves. On their journey they let a little girl tag along on their journey. The movie depicts what
starts out to be a struggle to survive then they against all odds makes it out and make a name for
themselves by winning India s version of Who wants to be a millionaire .
Starting to scavenge in the slums of India the movie shows us how different the culture of India is.
There are not many scenes in the movie where I am envious of people living in India. The culture of
India is very different then the culture that I am used to. If kids loose their parents in the war the
movie that would be made after their lives would not be near as exciting as this one. If this were to
happen in the United States we would more than likely put the kids in foster care and more than likely
end up in a nice home and that would be the end of the story. This really shows what kind of
infrastructure that India has.
The Indian culture is built on upon religion. Though the movie that I chose to watch was not directly
about religion it seemed that the camera could

Rigoberto Torres Analysis
have chosen the photo base on an artist John Ahearn and Rigoberto Torres for this assignment of self
portrait project. I will discuss about their life and their art work. John Ahearn was born in 1951 at
Binghamton, New York. In 1980, he moved to the South Bronx of New York and began to work in
collaboration with artist Rigoberto Torres. Rigoberto Torres had learned the art of plastic casting from
his uncle, who had cast plaster statues for churches and cemeteries. In 1990s, they worked together in
the 100th Street Sculpture Project, a GSA commission in Baltimore, and a public project in Caguas.
He often describes himself like an itinerant portrait painter, and sometimes as like Raul, who

John and Rigoberto did not choose a rich beauty because they wanted to emphasis the beauty of soul
intead of appearance. In order to transfer their intention, there is no better way than using plaster bust.
They create the mold from the real human being, and the process usually takes twenty minutes
according to Andrew Russeth in Casting call: John Ahearn, Rigoberto Torres and the South of Bronx
Hall of Fame at Frieze New York on observer.com website. The two artists carry out the process by
that way so that they can capture all of human`s emotions truly. They can easily catch every feeling or
expression from models who always have their own story. The difference of their works comparing to
the conventional plaster portraits is the color. According to Rigoberto, this is how people really look
like. In Pat, the black women look quite happy with her smile although her portrait is colored palely.
She dresses casually like a housewife with a tight bun hair, but her face appears a smile among the
signs of tiredness. All these features combine together with the message of happiness. About the pose,
she rounds her arms like the need of covering from the husband. This feature gains the femininity of
the work. All the traits from the work express that women, who are never hesitate to undertake burden,
always needs man`s arms. Literally, the incompleteness of the work reminds me how strong I should
be and what I need. Moreover, the

Rhetorical Analysis Of Anti-Smoking Adverts
Anti smoking ads can be found all over the internet and TV . I choose an anti smoking ad where an
African American male walks into a general store and has to pull out a tooth to receive his pack of
cigarettes. I stumbled upon this ad when watching YouTube, it was an ad. This advertisement is
effective in achieving its purpose of spreading awareness of what smoking does to young adults
because it visually shows a man pulling out his tooth just for a pack of cigarettes. This ad uses logos,
ethos, and pathos to persuade the audience their argument. It uses pathos when the man is actually
pulling out his tooth, this brings the feeling of disgust for those watching. Logos is present when the
narrator says what smoking causes such as cancer and other diseases. Then finally ethos is also present
because the commercial is being put online by the FDA. Pathos is present from the very beginning of
the commercial. Pathos is shown when the opening scene is the outside of general store sometime in
the evening. This made me and possibly many other viewers uncomfortable because nothing happens
at night in a general store that is good. The next time that pathos is used is when the man at the
counter says, That s not enough when the African American male places down his money and I.D and
asked for pack of cigarettes. The scene makes me super uncomfortable at just the thought of someone
pulling out their tooth with a pair of pliers. Not only is he pulling his tooth out but they put in

Human Life Does Not Begin At Conception
Regularly the action is pondered; Which is worse, Risa often wondered, to have tens of thousands of
babies that no one wanted or to silently make them go away before they were born? (Shusterman 115)
Accounts of rape, incest, health issues, accident, ill will towards a partner, and poverty are common
reasons for women to consider and ultimately follow through with the act of abortion. What happens
to the children whom are bred into these sorts of predicaments that are not at all terminated?
According to 2015 statistics by the U.S. Department of Justice, 48,425 children are in foster care. Of
those 48,425, seventy four percent are being held in U.S. prisons. Within two years of Age out fifty
percent are incarcerated, and eighty percent of former foster youth are on Death Row. Human life does
not begin at conception due to brain development beginnings starting only at three to four weeks after
conception according to top U.S. Neurologists and under the above listed circumstances, a child
would, in reality, be better off being aborted than being moved from home to home or even being an
unbearable psychological and financial weight on the shoulders of those who follow through with
taking on a parental role responsibility. The debate of whether life begins at conception or after birth is
an age old argument. In fact the reason for the debate is because it has not been proven that life
absolutely begins at conception. There has never been a scientific consensus as to

How successful were Giolitti s government in promoting political stability in Italy in the years 1903
1914?
Giolitti s government was extremely unsuccessful in promoting political stability in Italy. It seemed
that the Italian liberal state suffered from political divisions all over the country; this was something
no other Liberal western power had experience in the years 1903 to 1914. However under the political
divisions , Giolitti was trying to reform and modernise Italy during his periods in power as Prime
Minister. Giolitti and his government attempted to broaden support for Liberalism by appealing to
traditionally hostile groups such as the Catholics and the working class, created a grand trasformismo

Giolitti attempted to develop the economy of the south; on the other hand they did not want to be

Giolitti received a different sphere of success. He received moderate support in 1909 and in 1911.
Making him prime minister not twice but five times in later years to come. However, political
divisions still existed throughout Italy, showing how some of the Italian community lacked in
confidence towards Giolitti s government and it only seemed that in the years before 1914 political
divisions around the country appeared to be growing only further.
Giolitti sought to somehow defuse the discontent by social reforms, for example, the gradual
extension of the right to vote and to conciliate the major organized opposition groups in Italy, the
socialists and the Roman Catholics. In 1912 the introduction of the universal male suffrage extended
to nearly the entire adult male population, from 3.3 to 8.6 million men. On the hand, in the sough,
Giolitti s government were less accommodating and would often resort to traditional styled repressing

Economic Factors in Unification of German People in the 19th Century
There is little debate about the factors concerned in nineteenth century German unification, the
argument commences when the most important is put to question. To find the most important we must
surely look to the primary factors, the instigating forces, or seeds if you will, that are required for the
formation of a Nation State. The great Bismarck was a leader that undoubtedly showed much initiative
and many would attribute the unification of the German speakers to his efforts, but the economic
necessaries came long before the man who used them. When the various factors are combined

The land given to Prussia contained large coal and iron mineral deposits and were welcomed for their
advantageous, monetary and military value. Industry grew rapidly from the mineral deposit regions
like the Saar and Ruhr valleys and eventually 80% of the total iron and coal production, in the
zollverien states, was Prussian.
Two primary and almost parallel economic developments enabled the growth and stability of the
German speaking states and one significant development was the formation of a customs union in
1834. With Prussian lands distributed in different areas on the European map due to the Vienna
congress, the commencement of the zollverien was of enormous importance and as we can see in the
following description it was one, not only of liberated trade, but of national identity:
On all the highways of Central Germany heavily laden wagons surrounded by noisy and merry crowds
waited in long queues at the customs houses. With the clock s final stroke of the old year the turnpikes
rose: accompanied by cheers and the crack of whips the horses pulled ahead into the liberated land [3]
Before the improved zollverien the German speaking states had a pretty stagnant, although self
sufficient economy and controlled their own borders, tolls and currency. The dropping of the trade
tariffs and

U.s. Securities And Exchange
The U.S. Securities and Exchange (SEC) was created in response to the 1929 stock market crash
which was responsible to monitor and regulate the stock market after the crash which led to the Great
Depression. Since the creation of U.S. Securities and Exchange agency multiple laws and regulations
were added to help maintain the balance and oversight of the exchanges and the stock market.
Additional laws and regulations have been added as a result in condition or incident within the stock
market, corporations, and securities. Several scandals since 2002 have led to an increase of laws and
regulations, these laws have led to controversial topics dealing with the costs associated by enacting
regulations. Are we over or under regulating, or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Costs are not only measured with the effects of the economy in mind, they are measured in how they
will affect people and their future.
The cost of under regulation can be detrimental to the future of securities. As our nation s securities
exchanges mature into global for profit competitors, there is even greater need for sound market
regulation. And the common interest of all Americans in a growing economy that produces jobs,
improves our standard of living, and protects the value of our savings means that all of the SEC s
actions must be taken with an eye toward promoting the capital formation that is necessary to sustain
economic growth. (www.sec.gov, n.d.) This statement, part of the SEC introduction, describes the
monumental task to regulate and manage investments for everyone. Costs associated with under
regulation can be measured in billions of dollars lost over the past decade in businesses such as Enron,
Tyco International, WorldCom, and many others. These corporations misused laws and regulations by
inflating earnings and bad corporate accounting practices. The cost to investors was in the billions of
dollars and led to onset of laws to include Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002, Dodd Frank Wall Street
Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010, and Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act. As
all these laws were enacted to protect investors, some controversies arose outlining second and third

The Canadian Dream In Michael Ondaatje s In The Skin Of A...
Stepping out onto Canadian soil is the dream of any new immigrant coming to create a new life for a
fresh start. The strong images of digging, logging, and construction are just some of the rough edged
images that many do not consider when imagining the Canadian Dream. The Canadian Dream in the
minds of workers in Michael Ondaatje s, In the Skin of a Lion, is labouring to create life for
themselves and working towards a steady future. Abbott describes the masterplot as stories that we tell
over and over in myriad forms and that connect vitally with our deepest values, wishes, and fears.
(Abbott 46). Ondaatje s emphasis on labour reminds readers of the difficult work that individuals
endured in the early foundational days of Toronto. The Canadian masterplot of labour in early Toronto
can be initially thought of as a sparkling dream, when in reality it was harsh work that often went
unrecognized. The less educated, along with immigrants were considered lower class and were placed
in positions of difficult work and limited pay. Historically, it may be a preconceived notion that
Canada was built with ease and peace, but in truth, weathered men and women were the backbone that
built the nation. The individuals who built the infrastructure of Toronto endured the most difficult
work yet were hidden in the darkness. They experienced the most dangerous labor yet they were
recognized the least because of the negative connotations of the job. In this essay I will be outlining

Essay on The Battle of Britain in 1940
The Battle of Britain in 1940
In the summer of 1940, the German Luftwaffe attempted to win air superiority over southern Britain
and the English Channel by destroying the Royal Air Force and the British aircraft industry. This
attempt came to be known as the Battle of Britain, and victory over the RAF was seen by the Germans
as absolutely essential if they were eventually to mount an invasion of the British Isles.
The Germans had overrun Belgium, the Netherlands and northern France in May 1940, using the
Blitzkrieg ( Lightning War ) technique that relied, among other things, on close coordination between
ground troops and the air force. Although the Luftwaffe proved very competent in this ... Show more

In addition even if Hitler had achieved his aim of destroying the RAF, Germany might still have failed
to establish a foothold after any invasion, because the British Royal Navy was enormously strong, and
very capable of repulsing German troop ships.
Suppression of the British air force would have been the first difficult step to a German victory, but it
was not the only factor, and the British would have found they had plenty more tricks up their sleeve.
There was nothing to stop them from withdrawing their aircraft northwards, out of range of the
German fighters, if they started to lose the air battle, keeping the aircraft in reserve to counter an
attempted German invasion.
The combatants
There were plenty of indications that the Luftwaffe might face real problems in accomplishing their
initial step towards the conquest of Britain. The first came during the evacuation of Allied troops from
the Dunkirk beaches at the end of May.
The Luftwaffe s principal modern fighter, the Messerschmitt Bf109E (Me 109), had limited range and
was operating from bases some way from Dunkirk, making the German bombers very vulnerable to
the most modern RAF fighters. This was a foretaste of the problems that they would soon face over
Britain itself, and during the operation they lost 240

My Love Of Travel
For any person that went on vacations as a little kid, there will always be one that sticks out in their
mind. For me that vacation was a 2008 Disney cruise in the Bahamas. As a second grader getting to
miss school was a big deal. This vacation just happened to be during the last week of school that year.
I was incredibly excited to not only miss school but also get to go see a new place. In my family we
love to travel. I ve been in 3 countries and 14 or more states. This vacation was my start to all of these
places and sparked my love to see the world. One of the reasons this vacation influenced my love of
travel was that this was the first time I had been on a big plane. I love to fly places. Flying is a lot
faster than driving places and with two brothers that makes a huge difference.
On this vacation I visited one of the U.S. Virgin Islands, one of the British Virgin Islands, and Disney
s private island, Castaway Cay. Every day of the trip we were either at port on one of these islands or
spending our day on the boat on the way to one of these islands. When we were at port on any of the
islands we were given a time to be back then we were set free to get off of the boat and explore the
island at our own pace. We took a bus tour on one of the islands but on the others we got out and
visited some of the little shops or went to the beach for a day in the sand.
One of the memories that sticks out most to me was when my grandpa and I were standing in the
water at Magens

Dare Jump Short Story
Don t do it Darius! Don t you dare jump! I said while my sister did the four point cross sign with her
fingers and said Rest in peace and I hope you go to heaven . Who says that to a person that didn t
jump yet is what I thought at that moment. Stop. Stop. Stop. Let s go to the beginning shall we. My
family and I were in Pershing Field Park when this happened. I met up with some of my friends that
were screaming at the top of their lungs to what seemed to me as nothing in the beginning. While I
focused and put on my glasses which I have to have off unless I risk breaking them. I saw him. Darius
a class mate and friend that I don t associate with at all after school was there. He, as I saw it was
standing on top of two bars that no one is supposed to be near. Those bars that still are restricted to
kids and adults alike are a part of a swing set playground hybrid; that had monkey bar extensions.
Darius is a dare devil. When he was dared jump I knew that he was going to jump; he never liked

Persuasive Speech On Police Brutality
Police Brutality: How to Fight it
Andres Sanchez

Topic:
Police brutality and how to stop it.
Specific Purpose:
At the end of my speech I will try to persuade my audience to try and take action to stop police
brutality. I will inform them on what not to do, as well as try to convince them to do their part.
Introduction:
Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Tamir Rice, these are the names of some people that are now dead due to
the excess use of violence among our police officers. These people didn t deserve to die the way they
did. If police had used less lethal force they would still be here today. Police brutality has caused the

c) When people protest peacefully they will not have problems with police, Police, who were nearby
in large numbers, stayed back and let the marchers go. (Almasy Yan, 2014)
2) Inform the public
a) You don t have to go out and protest with other people you can simply share the information with
others, like giving a presentation on police brutality for example.
b) Make others become aware of what s going on in our communities and tell them what they can do
to help.
c) In the 90 s many people complained about police officials in L.A. profiling a certain group of
people that led to an investigation, which let to 10% of the officials being punished for what they were

a) Have groups of people sign petitions.
b) A single person might not be heard, but when many speak up they are heard.
c) Over 150, 000 people have signed an online petition on the white house web page to have every
police agency use body cameras. (Griggs, 2015)

A Study On Student s Abilities
Design a Study
Teachers who have higher expectations of their student s abilities will have a higher academic
achievement as compared to teachers who have low expectations of their students abilities. In this
study, the independent variable is the expectation of the teachers on their student s abilities, and the
dependent variable is the student achievements based upon the teacher expectations. The
achievements can be measured by monitoring classrooms in a high school setting for English class for
one year, with some classes having a teacher with high expectations, and other classes having a
teacher with low expectations. The achievements would be measured by a preliminary assessment, test
results, quarterly reports, and an end of year ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first limitation I came across was that the students themselves can determine their academic
achievements. For example they could be really good students who try there hardest no matter what or
there could be bad students who do not care if you have high expectations or not. Secondly, the
subject at hand can also have a big influence. In this case the
subject is English because it is a requirement class. Therefore if the student enjoys english they will do
very well and achieve good things because they enjoy learning about the subject. But if the student
does not enjoy english they will not care to do their best on their work and will do the minimum to just
pass the class. Lastly, the atmosphere they are in is also another thing that can influence the student. If
they are in an atmosphere where the whole class acts up and does not do their work they will follow in
those footsteps. However if they are surrounded by a mixture of people who do their work or do not
do their work they will choose to do what they think is best.
Fear and Affiliation
In a previous study, a researcher decided to test if people who experience fear prefer to be alone or
with other people. In this study, the participants were all women and were randomly assigned to either
condition the fear condition and the no fear condition. The dependent variable being the women and
how their emotions and choice to stay together or alone will be measured, and the

Parking Spaces For Harrisburg University
1. INTRODUCTION Harrisburg University currently has about 860 parking spaces on campus,
located in 326 Market Street, open for general public parking 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM Monday through
Friday and 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Saturday and closed on Sunday and all major holidays. Parking is
available 24 hours daily, 7 days a week including holidays for monthly parkers only. Parking garage
rates varied depending on the duration of parking. A parking occupancy study which counted occupied
parking spaces in and around the campus during a typical class day was conducted. It was found that a
lot of the students utilized street parking as it was inexpensive; however, parked at their own risk. The
purpose of this proposal is to document the existing campus parking supply and demand for parking
spaces and to provide a recommendation for the number of parking spaces needed for students with
the main objectives of improving location of parking so that it supports the university, safety of
vehicle access, and the safety of the campus community, and improving parking management,
reviewing current strategies and making improvements to management and methods of operations. 2.
BACKGROUND 2.1. Existing Parking Harrisburg University currently utilizes 860 parking spaces,
located in the car park garage. Around the campus area, parking spaces on the street are also available
at a reasonable price ($9/3 hours). Figure 1 below outlines the current garage parking rates. There are

The Chernobyl Explosion
Many Russian political heads have claimed, RBMK plants...will never be built again, largely due to
safety concerns of the past and current reactors [10]. As discussed previously the RBMK s had several
reactor features that made it difficult to justify their operation. Most importantly, the reactors
generated excess neutrons during operation which upon further study led to the super criticality that
caused the Chernobyl explosion. While Russia suggests that the explanation of the plants failure was
ultimately only due to the failure to follow safe operations of shutdown procedures, other studies
performed post incident suggest that the reactors were inherently technologically unsafe [11]. The
most significant issue with the RBMK design was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite these modifications, the RBMK reactors continue to have problems. One site in particular, the
Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant, has had multiple issues in the last few years. In 2013, the graphite
moderator was operating improperly due to deformities and cracks in its graphite moderator core.
These types of moderator failures have the potential to lead to larger problems, such as the ones
identified after the Chernobyl incident. Therefore, the reactor was shut down for an 18 month period
in order to repair the deformed moderator [12]. The 18 month project included research and
experimentation with reactor operating and monitoring procedures, and will lead to the discovered
solutions implementation on all existing RBMK reactors in the future. Despite this solution, the
Leningrad RBMKs shut down again for multiple days in October 2015 due to a minor storm that blew
seaweed into the reactor s water supply intake [13]. The reactor faced no issues except for minor
production delays and its automatic SCRAM procedures went off without issue; however, the fact that
a minor natural occurrence caused a shutdown of the reactor raised eyebrows to the reactors true
safety. It should be noted that water intake caused shutdowns have occurred internationally, yet they
face specific scrutinization when involved with the RBMK reactors [13].

Due to fears of safety, there are many who oppose the maintenance of RBMK reactors, especially at

International Crime And Jurisdiction In The United States
Jurisdiction is the most prominent issue for enforcement officers to deal with international crimes
stemming from the deep web. There are illegal markets for gambling, weapons, explosives,
assassinations, exotic animals, terrorism and hacktivism all of which can be accessed by anyone in the
world if they knew the right ways to get in. The darknet has an international customer base, and cases
can get even more complicated when criminals from different countries start to work together.
Questions of which country s law should be followed and what punishment should be given arise, and
not all parties involved end up satisfied. While it is impossible to please everyone with a trial and
punishment, having an international court disfuses any issue concerning jurisdiction in order to deal
with the criminal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One could argue that the International Criminal Court already exists, and there is no need for another
one. However, the International Criminal Court follows The Rome Statute for jurisdiction which only
allows action to be taken for crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and crimes of
aggression. Though there are some crimes committed through the darknet that can fall under this, such
as terrorism, the majority of them do not. This does not mean these crimes are any less

Compare and Contrast to Desiree s Baby by Kate Chopin...
To some people a baby can be the best thing that ever happened to them, but then there are others who
have decisions to make. They will go through an important stage in any relationship, the make it or
break it stage. The two stories that I will be analyzing will be Desiree s Baby by Kate Chopin and
Hills like White Elephants by Earnest Hemingway. In both stories the characters found out how babies
can be a deciding factor in a relationship, and that s what I will be focusing on.
In Desiree s Baby the morale of the story is we often get into trouble when we assume (Mayer, Gary

result of it he ends up losing his wife and son. When the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

or fight in her so she probably shouldn t take care of a child. The baby in this story played a huge role
for its future possible parents. The couple had to make a decision that if it were the wrong one could
have broken them up, or made their relationship a happy one.
Both Desiree s Baby and Hills like White Elephant realized their mistakes and tried and wished they
could have corrected them. Babies shouldn t be left the burden on people lives but that s where they
are placed at times. But it just makes you think to times where it wasn t a good time to have kids or
the situations that these people were placed in that made their children a downfall and a burden instead
of a gift or a miracle.

Examining Themes in Heart of Darkness Essay
Joseph Conrad wrote the book, Heart of Darkness, in 1898. He wrote this book touching on many
different themes such as imperialism and commerce, darkness imagery, dream and nightmare,
isolation, mental and physical illness, truth, and journey. Although all the themes are important to
make Heart of Darkness complete, three prevail overall: imperialism and commerce, truth, and
journey. Being the author of the book, Joseph Conrad had a personal connection to it. He took his own
journey down the Congo River and like Marlow, said that as a child his dreams were to grow up and
explore the heart of Africa. A family member also recommended Conrad to a company. Joseph Conrad

The Motifs In Pablo Picasso s Guernica
There have been countless interpretations of the motifs within Pablo Picasso s Guernica since it was
first exhibited in July of 1937 at the Paris International Exposition. Initially, the painting was not well
received by critics. It was presumably destined to collect dust at the back of Picasso s studio.
However, after the events of the Second World War, the imagery represented within Guernica became
painfully familiar. Its macabre elements strongly resonated with people from around the globe, and the
appalling atrocities suffered by many communities worldwide became synonymous with both the
painting and the town of Geurnica itself. His stylistic choices, the use of geometric shapes and the

The Cultural Types Of Water Management Practices
Due to influence by personal perspectives, ideologies, values and context, local culture is argued as
confusing framework for water governance (Tortajada, 2010). It is different in any regions, because of
natural challenges, systems of knowledge and variety of needs. In doing so, it may increase the
complexity of water management practices, and should be attached to a specific culture (Jackson,
2006, Pahl Wostl et al., 2008). Arguably, it is not sufficiently valid and reliable to be used to guide
water planning and policy. However, water culture provide reflective information about societal water
practice changes that maintain through trial and error over long time (Tàbara and Ilhan, 2008, Pahl
Wostl et al., 2008, Johnston and Donahue, 1998). This is a constant process of adaptation involving
the redefinition of attitudes and behaviors(Johnston and Donahue, 1998). The cultural types will differ
in their underlying basic values, beliefs and assumption making them a useful tool in understanding
the circumstances that affect the policy. Some cultures have flexible water norms to adapt the rapid
changes and technology innovation that generates new meaning for the environment (Jackson and
Palmer, 2012). Thus, the necessity of capable institution is crucial to put the relevance of water
changes and breakdown to the ground level (Tàbara and Ilhan, 2008).
Another challenge is climate change and multiple impact from changes in precipitation, increase in
drought, river peak

Consumers have the ability to change the companies verdicts and ideas, as the customers are the vital
aspect to sales. Topshop have to continuously research the customers desires and progress their
products to best suit their needs throughout the future. Topshops organisation have to monitor five
different key markets to adapt their products and services for the consumers. Topshop have to study:
Consumer markets, resellers, corporate markets, administration markets and worldwide markets. As
the consumers needs and wants are changing endlessly, the demand for Topshops research and

Suppliers
Topshops performance is evidently heavily impacted by the actions of the suppliers, whether this is a
strength or weakness for the company. The organisation has to repeatedly monitor the actions of the
suppliers, thus will enable them to be prepared for any surprises coming their way. Topshops suppliers
have an effect on their actions as, for example, if the supplier delivers a reduced facility to the
company, the delivery to the stores would be increased and the product quality could be decreased.

Satire Found in Candiate by Voltaire, Don Quixote by...
We often see satire in our everyday lives such as on televisions, novels, and music; but why is satire
used? Satire is a form of writing used to denounce human vice, giving readers an insight on the flaws
that the author sees in society. There are two different types of way to present satire: horation and
juvenialian. In the three works: Candide by Voltaire, Don Quixote by Miguel De Cervantes, and A
Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift all demonstrate the use of satire. However, Don Quixote presents
only horation satire and A Modest Proposal uses juvenalian satire, while Candide uses both types of
satire. By combining both horatian and juvenilian satire one s piece is able to present social criticism
more effectively than only using one. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author uses horation to point out the lack of respect towards prostitutes, although they have a
lewd job, they should be treated as ladies. In turn, Don Quixote is once again made a dunce for his
actions, conveying instead that kind actions are wasteful and will only make one look half witted. A
Modest Proposal on the other hand, used juvenalian satire which was too serious to fully grasp the
idea Jonathan Swift wanted to show to the readers. Juvenalian satire, quite the opposite of horation, is
a specific attack on a individual or human behavior. Swift addresses the solution to the poverty in
Ireland in a manner so blunt he sounds somewhat serious about a young healthy child...stewed,
roasted, baked, or boiled Swift targets his attack on the Irish and exaggerates how far the Irish would
go for money (2030). A reader, may not notice that this human characteristic, greed, applies to all
mankind. Swift in other cases offends the British as well. Swift suggests his proposition so wildly for
the British will accept it. However, this only gives insight to readers that the British are self inovlved

Differences Between Athenian Life In Modern Life To Modern...
How is Athenian Life Different and Similar to Modern Life? Ancient Athenian life is very different
from our modern day life; but the Athenian life as very similar to modern life as well. It differs in
many ways including: childhood, human rights, morals, and much more; but how different is Athenian
life to ours? How is it similar? Athenian life might have its differences, but it s also very similar.
Athenian children were raised differently from more recent times. In Ancient Athens child s play was
very similar to our modern child s play. Experiences like infancy, and childhood games are similar to
modern day; experiences like education differs. Infancy was very basic for Athenian children alike;
children were to stay at home close to their mothers. During this time, children would play with toys.
These toys include: a feeding cup with a built in rattle, little terracotta toy animals, and a toy horse
with wheels which could be used to help an infant walk ( Child s Play in Athens ). As children grew
up, so did their toys. As stated by Lesley Beaumont:
For older boys there were also small wheeled carts, in which they could transport a favourite
possession, or even a playmate. For girls there were dolls, which were usually made of terracotta;
some, the torso modestly moulded in the form of a short tunic, had movable arms and legs attached at
the shoulders and hips or knees. ( Child s Play in Athens )
Along with toys, children had games as well. Games like Knucklebones as

Immigration Issue Over Immigration Policy
Immigrants Rights
Immigration is a kind of movement of people into destination land, which can be traced back to a
million years ago. Also, the debate over whether immigrants should be given more rights has been an
intractable problem for a long period. According to statistics from Wikipedia, as for 2005, the United
Nations reported that there were nearly 191 million international immigrants worldwide, about three
percent of the world s population (Immigration). Although it does not seem to take up a large
proportion, actually the amount of the immigrant population is particularly huge. In this way, policies
on immigration are considered remarkably significant. Moreover, recently the attacks in European
countries have also poured fuel on the already heated debate over immigration policy. In most cases,
local citizens and governments do not welcome immigrants into their own country, which is partly due
to the discrimination. Obviously, it is unfair to them. Immigrants should be treated equally and given
more rights than the rights they possess now because they contribute to boosting economy, creating a
harmonious society and they are legal immigrants.
Many people assume that if immigrants are given more rights, there will be more immigrants into the
country, which will result in an economic burden to society. However, by focusing on the negative
effects they bring, people overlook the value and the social wealth created by immigrants. Recently,
researchers collected a large

Jp Morgan Robber Baron Research Paper
J. P. Morgan was a robber baron because he was born into a wealthy family and did not have to
completely start from the bottom and build his success from there. However, A. Carnegie, C.

He was once quoted saying, I began to learn what poverty meant. It was burnt into my heart then that
my father had to beg for work. And then and there came the resolve that I would cure that when I got
to be a man. He started of by working for $1.20 a week as a bobbin boy in a cotton factory. Carnegie
Later on he became a messenger. Through delivering messages he met Thomas A. Scott who would
later on hire him for $35.00 a month as a private secretary and personal telegrapher. A. Carnegie
learned a lot from Scott while he worked under him. Eventually he began working his way up the
latter in the Penn. Railroad until during the civil war when he saw the perfect opportunity to join the
Iron Industry. Carnegie then resigned from Penn Railroad with the objective to earn the most amount
of money in the shortest amount of time. Carnegie is credited with the Bessemer Process as well as
building the formidable American steel industry. The late Andrew Carnegie donated lots of money to
cultural, educational and scientific charities (he put over $350 million back into the community),

Trigger Point
A Trigger Point in Your Rear End that can Provide Back Pain Relief
A trigger point found in Gluteus Maximus and Gluteus Medius is step one in treating low back pain
that radiates across the back just above the hip bones and just below the hip into the hamstrings. Some
people may find this location in their butt to be the one that relieves most if not all their pain. It is also
the spot where some may actually have superficial dimpling, although not everyone will see dimpling
it can be useful in finding this important trigger point. In the image gluteus maximus is highlighted in
light green and the gluteus medius is highlighted in a deeper green.
As can be seen from the image plate from Gray s Anatomy the gluteus maximus lies over the medial
portion of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is suggested to try a tennis ball 1st, while lying on the floor for back pain relief. Place the tennis
ball, lacrosse ball or massage block below your ribs and above your hips. Allow the weight of your
body to apply deep pressure to provide back pain relief. To treat the lateral edge of the QL turn onto
your side supporting your head with a bent elbow and resting on your hand. Place a tennis ball below
your lowest rib and above the hip allow your body weight to sink into the ball. Move the ball closer to
the hip bone or ilium, again allowing the weight of your body to sink into the ball. You can also use a
tennis ball or lacrosse ball by leaning at a slight angle against a wall. To treat trigger points in the QL
without the use of a tennis ball. Place your hands on your hips with your thumbs directed toward your
spinal column. Work on one side at a time. It may be easier to start with a loosely held fist using the
knuckles to push in toward the spin and up toward the 12th rib, then down toward the hip

  • 2. Personal Narrative-Sacrifice Attacks In The US I barely recognize these fig strangled ruins. I used to come here as a kid. I mean, relations between the two states wasn t cordial or anything, and there were violent incidents, and most of us stayed to ourselves in our own little resorts, but in those days, the border was open and people could travel freely between the two lands, with only a checkpoint or two between the traveler and a little bit of rest and relaxation on the other side, if you know what I mean. • 3. My Last Day On Earth Essay You never know when your last day on Earth will be, make the best out of everyday. My mother told my brother and I the night before tragedy struck. I went to bed on that quiet night in May; woken up by a terrible and heartbreaking nightmare. The nightmare was composed of my cousin, Travis, dying in a car crash. Staying awake for ten more minutes to receive a phone call that my nightmare has become a reality. Being only 14 years old, I couldn t quite grasp the idea that my best friend, my other brother, and my big cousin has just left all of us forever. For the next 5 years of my life, I applied my mothers saying, you never know when your last day on Earth will be, make the best out of everyday to everything I did/do. Travis would have never known his last day on Earth would be May 21st, 2012, only 19 years old. Life can be taken away from us in split second; so why don t we live each day like its our last? Why do people take love and life for granted? Sadly, it takes tragedy to make people realize that tomorrow is not granted. I was six years old when Travis moved out of our house. Thinking he was my brother until then, I was surprised when my mom said, Tell your cousin bye, Brookie. . Since the day he moved out, he continued to be my very best friend. Calling him every night, upset about family issues, school work, the fight I had with my friend that day, he was there for me every single night getting me through it all; then as soon as my life got much more hard, ... • 4. Space Race Evolution Even though the Earth has been around for a few billion years, it has been only 200,000 years when the first homo sapiens, modern human species, came to existence. To put it into perspective, if the arm length represents the timeline, the shoulder is the Big Bang, the beginning of the finger nail is when the dinosaurs existed, and the human start to become a possibility right around the tip of the finger. Even more astounding, industrialization started only in the 1800s, which estimated 200 years to develop to the current society. The remarkable number is evidence to human extraordinary intelligence and limitless capabilities to transform ambition into reality; however, any development will reach to a point where the growth is less significant than it is used to be. This is referred as the law of diminishing return. Therefore, the research for a more advanced technology, Artificial Intelligence, or AI, has become the new Space Race of the 21st century. Many ... • 5. Treatment Of Patients With Renal Failure Every year more and more patients are diagnosed with renal failure. In hemodialysis the amount of dialysis each patient receives is less, compared to at home dialysis and nocturnal dialysis treatments. Kidneys are important organs for survival. Humans cannot filter harmful wastes, fluids, salts, potassium, and phosphorus without kidneys. When diagnosed with renal failure a patient relies on a dialysis machine to adequately remove the harmful wastes from their blood. One of the main ongoing battles between dialysis patients and their providers is adequate fluid control. There are recommendations set out for patients to follow but with weather getting hotter each year, patients are finding it harder to abide by the rules due to excess ... With all the new advancements today, successful outcomes should be the first thing doctors think of, rather than, focusing on the number of patients nephrology can schedule in. Lupus is another concern that nephrology faces which affect all races and has made it more of a challenge for doctors throughout the years. In most cases, patients with end stage renal disease and lupus get separated from the other patients because they are classified as higher risk. Antonio Inda Filho, et al., believe that The development of lupus related end stage renal disease (ESRD) confers the highest mortality rates among individuals with lupus (590). Unfortunately, this is true only when doctors are unable to stabilize systemic lupus. This should not be a debatable topic, nephrologist need to communicate with rheumatology and come up with an aggressive dialysis plan, which will not only assist in the removal of the harmful toxins, but will also help with stabilization. • 7. Lower Athabasca River System The Lower Athabasca River (LAR), in northern Alberta, Canada, begins north of Fort McMurray and flows to the Athabasca Delta and Lake Athabasca. Throughout its course, the river cuts through natural bitumen deposits, (Conly et al. 2002) and runs adjacent to the Oil Sands developments. Fine cohesive sediments and associated chemical constituents such as metals and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) play an important role in the LAR ecosystem (Ghosh et al. 2000, Garcia Aragon et al. 2011). The Indian Culture in Slum dog Millionaire Slum dog Millionaire: Indian Culture I chose to learn a little bit more about Indian culture, and I thought Slum Dog Millionaire was a great resource to do so. This movie depicts the story of 2 young Indian boys and their journey in life through love, hardship, and culture. The story starts out with the two boy living a happy life with their mother, but when their mother dies from the religious wars they are forced to learn to fend for themselves. On their journey they let a little girl tag along on their journey. The movie depicts what starts out to be a struggle to survive then they against all odds makes it out and make a name for themselves by winning India s version of Who wants to be a millionaire . Starting to scavenge in the slums of India the movie shows us how different the culture of India is. There are not many scenes in the movie where I am envious of people living in India. The culture of India is very different then the culture that I am used to. If kids loose their parents in the war the movie that would be made after their lives would not be near as exciting as this one. If this were to happen in the United States we would more than likely put the kids in foster care and more than likely end up in a nice home and that would be the end of the story. This really shows what kind of infrastructure that India has. The Indian culture is built on upon religion. In 1980, he moved to the South Bronx of New York and began to work in collaboration with artist Rigoberto Torres. The two artists carry out the process by that way so that they can capture all of human`s emotions truly. I choose an anti smoking ad where an African American male walks into a general store and has to pull out a tooth to receive his pack of cigarettes. I stumbled upon this ad when watching YouTube, it was an ad. This advertisement is effective in achieving its purpose of spreading awareness of what smoking does to young adults because it visually shows a man pulling out his tooth just for a pack of cigarettes. This ad uses logos, ethos, and pathos to persuade the audience their argument. It uses pathos when the man is actually pulling out his tooth, this brings the feeling of disgust for those watching. Logos is present when the narrator says what smoking causes such as cancer and other diseases. Then finally ethos is also present because the commercial is being put online by the FDA. Pathos is present from the very beginning of the commercial. Pathos is shown when the opening scene is the outside of general store sometime in the evening. This made me and possibly many other viewers uncomfortable because nothing happens at night in a general store that is good. The next time that pathos is used is when the man at the counter says, That s not enough when the African American male places down his money and I.D and asked for pack of cigarettes. The scene makes me super uncomfortable at just the thought of someone pulling out their tooth with a pair of pliers. Not only is he pulling his tooth out but they put in ... Human Life Does Not Begin At Conception Regularly the action is pondered; Which is worse, Risa often wondered, to have tens of thousands of babies that no one wanted or to silently make them go away before they were born? (Shusterman 115) Accounts of rape, incest, health issues, accident, ill will towards a partner, and poverty are common reasons for women to consider and ultimately follow through with the act of abortion. What happens to the children whom are bred into these sorts of predicaments that are not at all terminated? According to 2015 statistics by the U.S. Department of Justice, 48,425 children are in foster care. Of those 48,425, seventy four percent are being held in U.S. prisons. Within two years of Age out fifty percent are incarcerated, and eighty percent of former foster youth are on Death Row. However under the political divisions , Giolitti was trying to reform and modernise Italy during his periods in power as Prime Minister. However, political divisions still existed throughout Italy, showing how some of the Italian community lacked in confidence towards Giolitti s government and it only seemed that in the years before 1914 political divisions around the country appeared to be growing only further. Economic Factors in Unification of German People in the 19th Century There is little debate about the factors concerned in nineteenth century German unification, the argument commences when the most important is put to question. To find the most important we must surely look to the primary factors, the instigating forces, or seeds if you will, that are required for the formation of a Nation State. The great Bismarck was a leader that undoubtedly showed much initiative and many would attribute the unification of the German speakers to his efforts, but the economic necessaries came long before the man who used them. The land given to Prussia contained large coal and iron mineral deposits and were welcomed for their advantageous, monetary and military value. Industry grew rapidly from the mineral deposit regions like the Saar and Ruhr valleys and eventually 80% of the total iron and coal production, in the zollverien states, was Prussian. Two primary and almost parallel economic developments enabled the growth and stability of the German speaking states and one significant development was the formation of a customs union in 1834. With Prussian lands distributed in different areas on the European map due to the Vienna congress, the commencement of the zollverien was of enormous importance and as we can see in the following description it was one, not only of liberated trade, but of national identity: On all the highways of Central Germany heavily laden wagons surrounded by noisy and merry crowds waited in long queues at the customs houses. With the clock s final stroke of the old year the turnpikes rose: accompanied by cheers and the crack of whips the horses pulled ahead into the liberated land [3] Before the improved zollverien the German speaking states had a pretty stagnant, although self sufficient economy and controlled their own borders, tolls and currency. And the common interest of all Americans in a growing economy that produces jobs, improves our standard of living, and protects the value of our savings means that all of the SEC s actions must be taken with an eye toward promoting the capital formation that is necessary to sustain economic growth. The strong images of digging, logging, and construction are just some of the rough edged images that many do not consider when imagining the Canadian Dream. The Canadian Dream in the minds of workers in Michael Ondaatje s, In the Skin of a Lion, is labouring to create life for themselves and working towards a steady future. Abbott describes the masterplot as stories that we tell over and over in myriad forms and that connect vitally with our deepest values, wishes, and fears. (Abbott 46). Ondaatje s emphasis on labour reminds readers of the difficult work that individuals endured in the early foundational days of Toronto. The Canadian masterplot of labour in early Toronto can be initially thought of as a sparkling dream, when in reality it was harsh work that often went unrecognized. The less educated, along with immigrants were considered lower class and were placed in positions of difficult work and limited pay. Historically, it may be a preconceived notion that Canada was built with ease and peace, but in truth, weathered men and women were the backbone that built the nation. The individuals who built the infrastructure of Toronto endured the most difficult work yet were hidden in the darkness. They experienced the most dangerous labor yet they were recognized the least because of the negative connotations of the job. In this essay I will be outlining the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on The Battle of Britain in 1940 The Battle of Britain in 1940 In the summer of 1940, the German Luftwaffe attempted to win air superiority over southern Britain and the English Channel by destroying the Royal Air Force and the British aircraft industry. This attempt came to be known as the Battle of Britain, and victory over the RAF was seen by the Germans as absolutely essential if they were eventually to mount an invasion of the British Isles. There was nothing to stop them from withdrawing their aircraft northwards, out of range of the German fighters, if they started to lose the air battle, keeping the aircraft in reserve to counter an attempted German invasion. The combatants There were plenty of indications that the Luftwaffe might face real problems in accomplishing their initial step towards the conquest of Britain. The first came during the evacuation of Allied troops from the Dunkirk beaches at the end of May. The Luftwaffe s principal modern fighter, the Messerschmitt Bf109E (Me 109), had limited range and was operating from bases some way from Dunkirk, making the German bombers very vulnerable to the most modern RAF fighters. As a second grader getting to miss school was a big deal. This vacation just happened to be during the last week of school that year. I was incredibly excited to not only miss school but also get to go see a new place. In my family we love to travel. I ve been in 3 countries and 14 or more states. This vacation was my start to all of these places and sparked my love to see the world. One of the reasons this vacation influenced my love of travel was that this was the first time I had been on a big plane. I love to fly places. Flying is a lot faster than driving places and with two brothers that makes a huge difference. On this vacation I visited one of the U.S. Virgin Islands, one of the British Virgin Islands, and Disney s private island, Castaway Cay. Every day of the trip we were either at port on one of these islands or spending our day on the boat on the way to one of these islands. When we were at port on any of the islands we were given a time to be back then we were set free to get off of the boat and explore the island at our own pace. We took a bus tour on one of the islands but on the others we got out and visited some of the little shops or went to the beach for a day in the sand. A Study On Student s Abilities Design a Study Teachers who have higher expectations of their student s abilities will have a higher academic achievement as compared to teachers who have low expectations of their students abilities. In this study, the independent variable is the expectation of the teachers on their student s abilities, and the dependent variable is the student achievements based upon the teacher expectations. The achievements can be measured by monitoring classrooms in a high school setting for English class for one year, with some classes having a teacher with high expectations, and other classes having a teacher with low expectations. The first limitation I came across was that the students themselves can determine their academic achievements. For example they could be really good students who try there hardest no matter what or there could be bad students who do not care if you have high expectations or not. Secondly, the subject at hand can also have a big influence. In this case the subject is English because it is a requirement class. Therefore if the student enjoys english they will do very well and achieve good things because they enjoy learning about the subject. But if the student does not enjoy english they will not care to do their best on their work and will do the minimum to just pass the class. Lastly, the atmosphere they are in is also another thing that can influence the student. If they are in an atmosphere where the whole class acts up and does not do their work they will follow in those footsteps. However if they are surrounded by a mixture of people who do their work or do not do their work they will choose to do what they think is best. Fear and Affiliation In a previous study, a researcher decided to test if people who experience fear prefer to be alone or with other people. As discussed previously the RBMK s had several reactor features that made it difficult to justify their operation. Most importantly, the reactors generated excess neutrons during operation which upon further study led to the super criticality that caused the Chernobyl explosion. One site in particular, the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant, has had multiple issues in the last few years. These types of moderator failures have the potential to lead to larger problems, such as the ones identified after the Chernobyl incident. Therefore, the reactor was shut down for an 18 month period in order to repair the deformed moderator [12]. The 18 month project included research and experimentation with reactor operating and monitoring procedures, and will lead to the discovered solutions implementation on all existing RBMK reactors in the future. Despite this solution, the Leningrad RBMKs shut down again for multiple days in October 2015 due to a minor storm that blew seaweed into the reactor s water supply intake [13]. The Cultural Types Of Water Management Practices Due to influence by personal perspectives, ideologies, values and context, local culture is argued as confusing framework for water governance (Tortajada, 2010). In doing so, it may increase the complexity of water management practices, and should be attached to a specific culture (Jackson, 2006, Pahl Wostl et al., 2008). Arguably, it is not sufficiently valid and reliable to be used to guide water planning and policy.
