Ipv4. Internet Protocol Version 4 ( Ipv4 )
IPV4
Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) is the fourth version of the Internet Protocol (IP) and it is only
protocol widely used for the communication purpose in the computer networks and it works in
the Internet layer of the OSI reference model. The IPv4 address is 32 bits long. The 32 bit is
divided into four groups. Each group has the eight bits which forms as an octet. Each IP address has
two parts called the network id and the host id. This IP address is used as a unique identification
address for the hosts in the networks. Network ID also known as network address used to identify
the network from the large internetwork. All the computers in the same network will have the
same network ID. Host ID is also known as host address used to identify the host in the same
network. There are five classes of IPv4 address. They are Class A, Class B, Class C, Class D and
Class E. Class A, Class B and Class C are most commonly used, Class D is multicast and Class E
is for the research and the development purpose. These classes of IP addresses are used in different
location based on the network infrastructure.
The first octet in the class A IP address belong to the network part and the remaining three octets
represents the host part of the IP address. Class A can be written as N.H.H.H, N refers the
network identifier and the H refers the host identifier, The number of available hosts is 16,77,214
in each network, number of networks available is 128 and the default mask is

Rollercoaster
There are hordes of roller coasters getting designed and made all over the world, but this one is
different from a lot of them. Underwater is a theme that a lot of people enjoy gawking at. My
roller coaster is an underwater coaster. The technology involved in making all of the designs
was made by the best in the business. It hits spins, sharp turns, loops and enormous drops. It is
254 feet in the air and has a top speed of 53 miles per hour. It is 5,345 feet long (1629 meters) and
takes 68 seconds or 1 minute and 8 seconds. The cart has 4 rows and 5 seats in each row. As you
are going throughout the ride the cart will spin so that you can see all of our aspects on the ride.
Some amazing features underwater are that you will be zooming through a pirate ship, you will
observe some exotic fish, you will see sharks, the seats will turn, as you are traveling up the first
hill a captain will show up in a screen and explain to you all about what you are getting into
because underwater there will be images that look like you are fighting a pirate ship. Finally the
inside of the cart will be designed like a ship. So as you start the ride a glass cover will raise over
your head. After... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After that, you hit a sharp turn and then fly up a hill. After you reach the bottom of the hill you
do a corkscrew spin and then do 3 loops and as you are doing the loops you are experiencing
Newton s 1st Law, an object that is in motion stays in motion and an object at rest stays at rest.
When you are done with the loops you go out of the water for a quick hill and then back
underwater. Not long after you speed underwater you hit a loop that is out of the water and then
back into the water while a high g force is acting on you. Next you go through a pirate ship where
you see cannons and there is a special effect that makes you seem like you are on a moving ship and

Comparing On The Waterfront And A Man For All Seasons
Compare A Man for all Seasons with On the Waterfront using the quotes below as a basis for your
response.
Terry: Conscience. That stuff can drive you nuts .
More: Well, I believe when statesmen forsake their own private conscience for the sake of their
public duties they lead their country by a short route to chaos. Act I, Scene II.
Our ability to discern what is morally right and wrong speaks volume about where our values lie.
The subjective norm of moral behavior determines how individuals will respond when placed in
changing circumstances. Elia Kazan s On the Waterfront and Robert Bolt s A Man for all Seasons
highlights the endeavors of individuals who neglect or deeply ruminate about their conflicted
conscience. Set in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike those above him, he cannot afford the luxury of dwelling with his conscience, as there
are more vital matters such as survival to be concerned with. Down at the Waterfront, the
Longshore men live by the code of DND...deaf and dumb.. where it is everyman for himself .
Although they suffer, they are content to abide by this code as it promises day s worth of work
and money to provide for their family. Even though they covet the justice of their poor working
conditions, they deny their conscience as it poses as a threat to the security of their job... If I
was a wiseguy, I wouldn t have been a longshore man for 30 years. I m poorer now than when I

discouraged, as it would greatly impact their accustomed lifestyles. These men stay immune to

Man who d rather be as a live rat than a dead lion . The jailer invokes this excuse to justify not
living by his moral principals when More desperately pleads for more time with his family. This is
perhaps the only time in they play where More is shown to be agitated by these plain simple men[!]

The Stigma Of The Homeless
During the Great Depression, the homeless were almost glamorized as vagabonds who rode the
rails with their belongings neatly tied up in a bandana over their shoulder. Today, the homeless can
be anyone: children or women escaping an abusive relationship or those who just cannot afford to
pay for housing. While some homeless people maintain employment of some sort, long term
homelessnessis usually a function of the inverse; either severely under employed or no income
stream at all with which to pay rent and utilities. While quite a bit of academic research has shown
the need to focus on societal causes of homelessness, people who are homeless seem to be
increasingly perceived and treated within a paradigm of individual sickness. While... Show more

National estimates suggest that nearly 2 million youth experience homelessness (Rhodes, Wine
Rice, April 2014) and that between 5 25% of those have some sort of pet. While it appears that
pet ownership may contribute to a wide range of benefits, this also presents conflicts that arise
within the homeless population. Homeless respondents also have stated that the general public
tends to treat them better or are more likely to talk to them because of their pets, with the pets
acting as social facilitators (Ibed). Pet ownership can strike such a strong emotional chord within a
homeless person that it has been found within research that had not specifically focused on pet
ownership within the homeless community have identified pets as a self reported barrier to having
access to social support mechanisms. This attachment to their pets are many times so strong that
they (homeless) would sacrifice personal healthcare and other social services if no one was
available to care for their pet while utilizing said treatment (J. Wasserman and J. Clair, 2010).
Studying the comparison between people helping the homeless with a pet, rather than helping the
homeless that doesn t, is important because it

What Is Stop And Frisk
What is stop and frisk? Who uses stop and frisk? According to Haq stop and frisk is a program that
enables a police officer to stop, question, and frisk a person for weapons (1). This means that a
police officer can only search someone if they possess reasonable suspicion and follow their
guidelines. People should have open ideas of ways of reducing gun violence and not closing
before hearing the proposals. People say that stop and frisk promote racial profiling and that it
invades one s privacy rights. Policeofficer are human being and make mistakes because no one is
perfect in this Earth. Gun violence has been a main subject now a day, where you hear it on the
news about a school shooting. Stop and frisk are an effective way to bring down crimerates in one s
city yet some people may think otherwise and think it s not acceptable. The practice of stop and
frisk is necessary to protect the people and to be capable to reduce crime off the streets; without
it crime rates like gun violence would increase drastically. In James Q. Wilson essay Just Take
Away Their Guns he argues that restraining citizens from purchasing guns legally don t have any
effect on those who purchase firearms illegally. For example legal constraints on the lawful
purchase of guns will have little effect on the illegal use of guns (Wilson 125). Wilson is saying
that it will be tough to find the illegal firearms purchased and people would always find a way to
buy guns illegally. There is no way the

Credit Card Epidemic Essay
The silent epidemic sweeping the nation today is credit card abuse. As prices of goods increase
faster than average wages, American families slide deeper into debt. In the meantime, the banks
are flourishing from their desire to buy now and pay later. It is amazing how a small piece of
plastic can be so dangerous. Society todayalmost requires people to carry credit cards. In my
opinion, credit cards are one of America s family s most underrated problems. One could assume
the banks encourage spending on impulsein order to secure their future. The access to credit cards
make it possible to make large purchases instantly. The banks set low minimum payments; however,
by doing so all you pay on the account is interest. In turn, a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Presently, most companies require or encourage direct deposit for their employees. The banks
really have an advantage in this process. A person will have to receive an ATM card for
accessing their money, but the bank will also include a VISA symbol on the card. In some
cases, the bank allows the VISA credit line to be used for overdraft protection. A consumer may
be unaware that exceeding their checking balance by $5.00 causes the bank to draft $100.00
increments into the account from the credit line. This procedure can be deceiving to the customer.
The banks offer credit cards to most everyone, and sometimes they even send the cards through
the mail without permission from the consumer. It is unbelievable the high limits of credit
offered on some of these cards. People with good credit are targeted highly by banks and lending
institutions. It leads one to think that the banks are adding more stress to the lives of Americans
by making spending so easy. Finally, with the large lines of credit available on most cards, the
problem of theft is very dangerous. If your card is stolen, a thief can potentially destroy someone
financially in a matter of hours. Everytime the card is used it presents a danger of someone using
your account number. Also, it can lead to other vital information including, social security number,
bank account numbers, and other private information. Consumers take a large risk using credit
cards. In conclusion, the

Examples Of Object Oriented Analysis Design
Object Oriented Analysis Design (OOAD) Object Oriental Analysis Design is a hands on
approach used to model and create systems as a group of interacting objects. The term Object ,
describes a form of entity or thing of concern. Objects are typically modeled after real world
entities or concepts. For the business analyst, examples of objects may range from; invoice,
product, contract, etc. Objects usually contain attributes that can be set to specific values. With
Object Oriented Approach to system design, it tries to lessen the impact of problems by
combining related data and functions into the same module. Objects In the real world can be
characterized by two things; data and behavior. For example, a television is an object and
possess data in the sense that it is tuned to a particular channel, the scan rate is set to a certain
value, the contrast and brightness is a particular value and so on. The television object can also do
things. The television can switch on and off, the channel can be changed, and so on. Below is a
graphical representation of a single object and its characteristics:... Show more content on

During the object oriented analysis (OOA) phase object modeling techniques are used to analyze
the functional requirements for a system and create models which reflect the logical design of the
system. During the object oriented design (OOD) phase of the system, models are elaborated upon
to include implementation specific details that show how the physical design of the system will
come together. OOA focuses on what the system does (its static structure and behavior), OOD on
how the system does it (its run time implementation).

Hyperthyroidism Occurs When The Thyroid Gland
Hyperthyroid Disease Hyperthyroidism occurs when the thyroid gland, a butterfly shape in front of
the neck, overproduces thyroid hormone. The thyroid gland is abundant with blood vessels and it
secretes thyroid hormone (Kumar 22). Thyroid hormone influences many different internal body
functions such as, metabolism, growth, development, turning food into energy, and increases body
temperature. Thyroidhormone is very important for brain development and normal growth during
infancy; furthermore, a newborn s blood drawn from their heel and sent for screening determines of
level of thyroid stimulating hormone (Samuels 2). However, when the thyroid gland over produces
thyroid hormonea lot of things in the body development can go wrong. The over produced thyroid
hormone forces the body to expedite. It is important to know that one has hyperthyroidism, because
it can result in heart, bone problems, and thyroid storm; which heart rate, blood pressure, and the
increase in body temperature can be fatal. Hyperthyroidism is more common in females than males
and the older a person is the more likely they will have it. Around 27 millions of American have
thyroid disease, however only 14 million receive treatment. Also, stress is the main aspect that
affects the thyroid gland in either over producing or under producing thyroid hormone (Kumar 22).
There are many causes of hyperthyroidism, such as Grave s disease, hyperfunctioning thyroid
nodules, and thyroiditis. Graves disease is

Synthetic Meat In Karl Grossman s Locavore Movement Overlooks
The world is slowly dying. The idea that the world would end is inevitable, and thus posing the

Farmworkers will not be able to keep up with the supply and demand of food that will be needed in
the future. In Karl Grossman s article, Locavore Movement Overlooks Farmworkers, he
describes the way that the locavore movement works. It is a great system, but it will never work
out because of the supply and demand that would be needed in order to provide for the
population. Within the article he states, small farms like their factory farms counterparts, are
largely staffed by noncitizens, immigrant workers. Through this statement he shows that even
now there is not enough staff to produce food for the seven billion people now, and if there is an
extra two billion people on Earth there is no way that the farmworkers could keep up with the
supply and demand. With the farmers not going to be able to provide the food that is needed
locally, they should start using the stem cells from their animals and create locally grown
synthetic meat, and thus they will not only be able to keep up with the supply and demand but
save animals in the process. Not only will they save lives they will know what is being put into
the meat since they would be the ones making it. It is better to have synthetic meat created from
stem cells in machines because machines are better than humans. Farmworkers can get tired and
make mistakes, but machines do not get tired or even make mistakes because they are programmed

The World Of The Classical Solar System
Last July, NASA s New Horizons spacecraft flew by Pluto, the last unvisited world of the
classical solar system. As the largest known member of the Kuiper belt, Pluto is also the gateway
to a new frontier, a scarcely studied collection of primordial icy bodies far from the sun that
constitutes the third zone of the solar system after the realms of the inner rocky planets and the
outer gas giants.
Like most first glimpses of new frontiers, Pluto held so many surprises for New Horizons that the
past eight months have seen a steady stream of discoveries coming from the mission, as the
spacecraft s small radio transmitter beams its gathered data back home. The biggest surprises have
been Pluto s surface and atmosphere, which are restlessly active and diverse despite average
temperatures of only tens of degrees above absolute zero. Some scientists expected New Horizons
would find Pluto to be little more than an inert, sunlight starved orb. Instead, the spacecraft
encountered a world where nitrogen glaciers flow down into plains of frozen methane from
towering mountains of water ice. Sunless half frozen oceans lurk deep beneath the surface, and
multiple moons tumble overhead through hydrocarbon hazed red skies that tinge to blue at sunrise
and sunset.
But beyond celebrating the visceral thrill of the Pluto flyby itself, or the intellectual frisson of
gazing on full color close ups of a place so alien and faraway, most of these discoveries from New
Horizons have so far found a

One cannot apprehend the consequences the Second World War had, that lead to the Cold War

aftermath of World War Two, the United States and the Soviet Union
were already militarily and
diplomatically engaged in Iran. Iran became the major theatre of ideological conflict between the
great powers, these effects would deeply influence and shape Iran s politics and history. In this

communist party formed in 1941 that wanted the government to take control and own the nation s

Iranians opposed Great Britain. The British ran the largest oil facility in Iran and took advantage
of it, Iranian oil flowed out of the country and British companies became rich from it whilst
Iranians received little to no profit. In 1951, Iranians elected a man named Mohammad Mosaddeq

powerful than the Shah himself. Mosaddeq vowed to nationalize Iranian oil and free Iran from

The uses of Firearms by civilians are very dangerous, and its history needs to be studied. Many
wars and accidents in civic life made many countries prohibit keeping guns and firearms by
individuals, but there are some other countries that continue to keep guns, such as the United States
and the United Kingdom. I will focus on the gunculture in the United Kingdomfrom 1689 to 1997.
Because the Unite King start allowing individual keeping guns by Bill of Rights in 1689, the 1689

Alcohol may be man s worst enemy, but the bible says love your enemy Frank Sinatra. In
chemistry, alcohol is any substance with sugars that have been fermented (Hirst). Alcohol has been
a part of human history for an immense amount of time; evidence of an alcohol drink in China
dates back to 7000 BCE (Hirst). Ancient Egyptians are cited as having had some form of alcohol
(Hirst). Sura was a prominent Indian alcohol made from rice from 3000 BCE to 2000 BCE (Hirst).
Babylonians had various alcohols and worshipped a goddess of wineand beer by the name of

All of these Christian denominations believed that alcohol was a gift from God, but to ...get drunk
with wine, (New International Version, Eph 5.18) was to sin. For the next few hundred years,
alcohol consumption was seen as an act for moderation. The nineteenth century marks the
beginning of a great push for temperance during the Second Great Awakening; this was founded
upon an increased level of alcoholism in Europe and America during a time of Industrialization
that called for the need of reliable workers (Holt). The Puritan push for temperance became
stronger, and in 1826, the Society for the Promotion of Temperance was formed with over five
thousand chapters across the United States; this group was partly responsible for the
implementation of the illegality of buying alcohol in many states on a Sunday (Indiana is the only
state in which this law remains in effect) and for the movement that preceded the Prohibition in
1920 (Holt). The Prohibition disallowed Americans to produce, import, transport, or sell alcoholic
beverages; it lasted for thirteen years until the twenty first amendment ended it because of the
reaction it sparked (Holt). In the twenty first century, the minimum drinking age in all fifty states in
America is 21 years old. The science of alcohol, the social science of alcohol, and the international
usage of alcohol factor into the controversy of this magic number: 21. Ethanol, the alcohol

land to let future generations see the shooting geysers, bubbling hot pots, forests full of
towering lodgepole pines, sparkling lakes, and magnificent views of the stars at night. Of
course, the land supported unique animals such as bison, bald eagles, elk, grizzly bears, and
wolves. However within the first 50 years of being open, the wolves were hunted to
extinction. They were gone from the park for over 70 years. At that time, scientists and forest
rangers realized that the absence of wolves causing problems in the ecosystem; the elk population
had grown out of control. Therefore, in 1995 the Fish and Game Department reintroduced wolves,
which has benefited the Yellowstone ecosystem in many ways. However, the farmer and ranchers
feel negatively about the reintroduction, feeling that wolves do nothing other than wreak havoc

The China Boom Summary
The China Boom: Why China Will Not Rule the World, by Ho fung Hung. New York: Columbia
University Press, 2016.
Ho fung Hung s work attempts to reconcile the widespread expectation that China s rise would lead
to a fundamental change in the global status quo with the observed fact that China has become
increasingly connected to and one with the global status quo. To do this, he must first examine
China s rise and prove that it upholds the global status quo, and further must look into the origins of
China s rise, going back to the 13th century, to understand why this rise seemingly changed so little
about the global world order.
Hung s stated goals are as follows. First, he aims to outline the historical origins of the capitalist
boom in China as well as the conditions which predicated said boom. He also names four
conceptions against history to explore the global effects of China s capitalist boom and the limit
of that boom. Firstly, he seeks to challenge the notion that China is challenging the United States
neoliberal order. Secondly, he examines the belief that the increasing incomes of poor Chinese
citizens helps to reverse worldwide income polarization. Thirdly, he analyzes the claim that China
s rise is challenging Western dominion over the world, and is radically altering the world order.
Lastly, he plans to evaluate the assertion that China has been emerging as the most powerful driver
of growth since the global financial crisis. He plans to devote a single chapter to the refutation of
each of these views and explanations of why they overstate the importance of China, in addition to
several introductory chapters describing China s rise. He aims to prove with this work that China is
no different than the other major capitalist powers, that its boom is dependent on the global
neoliberal order, that its boom contributes to rampant inequality, and, in sum, that China is just a
foundation of the capitalist status quo.
Hung s first foray into the history behind China s rise centers on the massive influx of American
silver into 17th and 18th century China and how it fueled a commercial revolution. He talks about
the revisionist image of pre capitalist China as simply agrarian, and states that this

Family Functions and Structures in Britain Today Essay
Family Functions and Structures in Britain Today
What is a family? A family is a group of people who are related by kinship ties: relations of blood,
marriage or adoption. The family unit is one of the most important social institutions, which is
found in some form in nearly all known societies. It is basic unit of social organisation and plays a
key role in socialising children into the culture of their society.

The Integumentary System In The Human Body
The Integumentary System plays an extensive role in our everyday lives. It consists of hair, skin,
nails, and glands. Therefore, it is one of the largest organ systems that can be seen and in the human
body. All these structures help protect the inner portion of the body. But the most important
structure overall is the skin.
The skin is used as a waterproof layer protecting everything on the inside of the body. The skin
regulates the temperature of the body and the moisture. It also works as a barrier keeping certain
diseases from entering the body, like bacteria and viruses. Likewise it also helps against harmful
rays like ultraviolet radiation. The skin is a sensory organ meaning it can distinguish if it is cold or

Popsicle Sticks Student Anxiety Research Paper
I know for a fact those popsicle sticks give students anxiety because for experience it gave me
really bad anxiety and it still does. Making it a situational anxiety as mentioned in chapter four in
the Dannels book. Situational anxiety is the feeling that you are the center of attention and no
one wants to be the center of attention if you do not know the answer to the question that is
being asked. Some of my teachers still use the popsicle sticks in some of my Libs classes and I
just sit there freaking out most of the time. That goes for my classmates we all tell each other how
much we hate those sticks. It was a good move by Mrs. Waston whispering to her students quietly

Council Of Chalcedon Essay
However, a diverse group ranging from the monks at Constantinople to Egyptian bishops loyal to
Dioscorus opposed the definition. They considered themselves as Pro Nicene and anti Nestorian,
but they worried that the council was being heretic . Ultimately, the Chalcedonian definition stated
that after the incarnation, Christ was in two natures without mixture, change, division or separation .
Furthermore, part of the disagreement between the Eastern and Western Church was because the
definition stated that Christ is acknowledged in two natures, which come together into one person
and one hypostasis. The critics (some Eastern churches) understood this to side with western
Christology, they felt that it diverged from the teachings of Cyril of Alexandria who said that Christ
has one nature. The church of Alexandria felt that the definition should have stated that Christ is to
be acknowledged as out of two natures and not in two natures . However, some scholars argue that
the language of two natures also derives from Cyril . Ultimately, the assertion of ... Show more

In the case of Nestorianism, if the incarnation was a case of a male son of Mary being indwelt by
the divine son of God, then Jesus Christ is not different from a Christian because Christians believe
that they are indwelt by the son. If that was the case, then the incarnation did not take place. This
would make the doctrine of atonement null and void because it would suggest that Christians were
saved by a human being leading to whether human suffering can atone for sins. In the case of
Eutychianism, if Christ s humanity was swallowed up in his divinity, then the incarnation (God
becoming man) did not really take place, but it seems to be more a case of man extinguished and
lost in God, thereby also making the incarnation null and

Hunting Research Paper
Hunting is when you search for animals and kill them. Though Bambi may have been a cute
Disney cartoon, imagine how much better he would look on your plate with a little bit of catsup
and alot of red wine. Lets face it venison is refined crude deer. Deer are pointless. Sure the deer is
pretty coming out of the woods (if they don t destroy your car) but they are far more pretty
coming out of the oven, and they also smell a lot better too. In addition, they don t fit in your
fish tank, they won t wear leashes, and they d surely stink up the litter box (obviously, they are
not as dainty or as subtle as cats). Contrary to Mr. Disney s propaganda they really can t act and
they never break into song. It s more than likely that when you do kill... Show more content on

These people are bleeding hearts from the the Northeast. They are women or they are like women.
Woman are strangely attracted to pretty things that guys like me could care less about, like deer, or
candles. For example, I remember driving my girlfriend all over Lafayette, Louisiana. We d
walk into every restaurant and she d reject it. Was it food? No way. She just wanted a place with
candles at the table. All I wanted was a TV at the bar so I could sneak glances at the game while
pretending to be admiring her. She also likes deer. We didn t find candles, but I did find a place
that serves venison.
It is evident that hunting is good because the law says how many deer you can hunt. The right
amount to hunt is six deer per season. Here in Louisiana you are allowed to shoot one buck and
one doe per season.
Hunting is good because it is our traditional way of life. Father s like bringing their sons hunting.

Difference Between Baby Cribs And Bassinet
What s The Difference Between Baby Crib and Bassinet?
Deciding what you should purchase for the nursery of yours can take on overwhelming
proportions. Do you actually require a changing table? What is the importance of a rocking chair?
Does the purchase of a swing merit the space that it occupies?
However, among the most vital decisions that you ll require to make regarding nursery furnishings
is picking the place where your baby is going to sleep.
Infants spend a great part of their time sleeping, and thus your little one is going to use up much
time in the sleeping space of theirs! Moreover, looking after the safety of your baby even as they
are fast asleep is a key consideration with any newborn.

that are shorter compared to your arms, and thus you will have no difficulty in laying your infant

The Social Problem Of Family Violence And Abuse
The social problem I decided to discuss is the subject of family violence and abuse, which
includes spouses and children. Now, as Ember and Ember explain in the text, in order to deal
with violence within families, we must first decide on what should be classified as abuse and
what is not (Ember Ember, pg. 230). The word abuse can have various definitions across
cultures, as not everyone thinks of it in the same way. To some, hitting a child is a perfectly
acceptable form of punishment and of wife beating can be seen in a male dominating household
as a necessary act to keep a spouse in check. I personally believe that abuse can be defined as the
repeatedly cruel or violent treatment of someone, mainly intended to do harm against that person. I
believe that in order to combat this problem, there is a few main actions that can be done that can
at least reduce the amount of family violencewe see throughout cultures. For one, people need to
acknowledge that family violence, both domestic violenceand child abuseis real and exists
throughout countless societies and communities. The second is to realize that family violence is
not a necessary behavior and can actually have long lasting and damaging effects on the people we
love the most. The third action is to educate people in alternative ways they can deal with their
family members without having to resort to violence.
The first most important step in solving any problem is to actually express that there is a problem in

Inaccuracies In Agora
Agora
There may have been some controversies about Hypatia s spiritual beliefs, however, her devotion,
knowledge, and perseverance can be admired by all. This movie depicted some accurate historical
facts and events surrounding the life of Hypatia in Alexandria. However, there were some
inaccuracies of events that were discovered. For example, The Great Library of Alexandria did not
exist in during this time period. During the center portion of the movie, there was a dramatized
scene where the Christians were attacking the Agora while the Pagans were in the library
attempting to save the important books. This was not a factual depiction of this event. The Great
Library was actually built in 288 B.C. and destroyed in 48 B.C. The movie s setting is based
around the 4th century A.D. which is a clear indication that the library was no longer in existence.*
Another example of the film s inaccuracy is the account and event of Hypatia s death. In the film,
her death was the result of her knowledge and her ability to reason which labeled her as a witch.
In addition, her death did not have anything to do with her religious beliefs or the fact that she
was a woman. Hypatia s death was due to politics. In the film, a follower of Cyril threw a stone
at Orestes, the man was arrested, tortured and later killed. In revenge, the Christians became
outraged and agreed to kill the person who Orestes loved most which was Hypatia ( ). Therefore,
the film s depiction of Hypatia being killed

The Democratic Process Of Southeast Asian Countries
The democratic process of Southeast Asian countries, such as Malaysia and Singapore, has seen
very little significant changes from civil society action. While each of these countries have
claimed to be democratic nations, there has been little change in terms of government rule since
their independence. These civil society groups are ones that reflect the ideas and values of a group
of people, in pursuit of a common goal. The changes that have resulted are in Malaysiaand
Singapore s governments, have been to restructure or assert their power to maintain control over
these civil societies. This has been accomplished through media reform and regulations.
Opposition to these ruling systems have been met with great friction, but nonetheless have seen
some success in changing the state of its operation in small ways, yet not significantly due to the
scope of their power. As democratic nations, Malaysia and Singapore, do hold elections though
only one party has held power in each nation since their independence. Malaysia has been
governed by the United Malays National Organization (Lec: 9/7) since 1957 and Singapore has
been ruled by the People s Action Party since 1965 (Lec: 9/21). Governmental positions have
mostly been uncontested with walkover winnings (Lec: 9/26) since this time, due to election
tactics. UMNO has maintained control of the political sphere by ruling as a coalition, offering
incentives for supporters and aggression for opposition (Lec: 9/7). Similarly, the

Unethical Behavior Of Police
In society we call upon certain individuals to help us in times of need or urgency. Sometimes
these individuals are police officers. As a member of society, I would like to be able to call upon
the police in a time of need since we expect them to protect and serve our community. However,
some situations can expose corrupt policeofficers partaking in unethical behavior while protecting
and serving the community. In this paper I will discuss the unethical behavior of a group of police
officers from Baltimore, Maryland. This is an ongoing investigation that keeps producing more
evidence of other officers partaking in unethical behavior.
ISSUES WITH THE OFFICERS ACTIONS
Baltimore Police Department had a special unit known as Gun Trace Task Force. This particular
unit was very successful in helping drop the gun crime in the Baltimore area. As recently as
October 2016, the Baltimore Police Department was praising the unit in an internal newsletter for
its work getting guns off the streets (Gile, 2017). The unit made more than 110 gun arrests in less
than 11 months last year (Gile, 2017). While these officers are being recognized for their excellent
work, they were committing their own crimes on the streets.
In March 2017, these same seven police officers from the Baltimore Police Department were
federally indicted by the U.S. Attorney of Maryland on racketeering charges (Rector, 2017). Sgt.

France Bans the Muslim Burqa and Veil Essays
Within the Middle East, the largest population of the men and women are Muslim. The Muslim
religion suggests that women wear a veil or hijab, which is a head scarf that only exposes a
woman s eyes, accompanied by a burqa which is a full body cloak. The sole purpose of the
clothing is to cover a woman s feminine features from men s eyes. The Qur an, an Islamic
scripture, supports and slightly obligates the uniform by saying that women are to be conservative,
let them wear their head covering over their bosoms, and not display their ornaments. (Qur an). It
could be inferred that women wear the burqa and veil willingly because of their geographical
location. However, when Muslim women are withdrawn from the Middle East, and are placed...

France drew international attention, questions, and opinions on the justification of this new law.
Even though France s main response to their justification of the ban is to preserve the French
culture, the law also positively addresses other problems such as: religious freedom, public
safety, and women s rights. When I was introduced to the topic of France s ban on the veil, I
disagreed with the law. I took a position based on my customs as an American citizen, which
differs completely from those of France. International critics began to argue that France is violating
what people call Freedom of Religion, which I agreed with at first. As a foreigner from America, I
am accustomed to the American government s definition of freedom of religion. Protected by the
First Amendment, Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise. (Religious Freedom). You can express your religion in public, during
church, mass, or religious meetings. So the presence of religious items such as the burqa s and veil
do not disturb the people or government. However, until I put myself in the other person s (France
s) shoes, I hadn t realized that customs differ from one country to another, so I began to look at the
accusations through France s eyes. I too, then viewed the ban as a positive movement by France,
influenced by a government s determination to govern their citizens under laws, which they found
suitable. Although they

Effect of Temperature on an Enzyme in Hydgrogen Peroxide...
Effect of Temperature on an Enzyme in Hydgrogen Peroxide
Introduction.
The aim of this investigation is to find out how temperature affects the speed at which the
enzyme,Catalase, works best in Hydrogen Peroxide.I hope to achieve reliable results that will
confirm my predictions.
I predict that:
В· By increasing the temperature of the Hydrogen Peroxide, the Catalase will react faster. This is
because the particles have more energy so they will move and react at a faster rate.
В· At about 40c, the Catalase will start to deteriorate because the substrate no longer fits the enzyme
making the enzyme useless.
В· I predict that the enzyme will work at its best at 37c because that is ... Show more content on

I know that with a rise of 10c the rate of reaction will be doubled in a single cell. This is because
the particles are moving faster due to the increase of energy(rate of reactions). As soon as the
temperature becomes too high, the enzyme will become denatured, meaning that the enzyme will no
longer fit the substrate and at this point the rate of reaction slows down rapidly and eventually the
enzyme becomes useless.
I hope to find the temperature at which the enzyme performs best and the temperature at which the
rate of reaction slows down showing the enzyme has become denatured.
An enzyme is a biological catalyst which alters the rate of reaction without being changed itself.

Military Rules of Engagement and the Laws of War
Military Rules of Engagement (ROE) and the Laws of War A civilized society cannot function
without rules, laws, and codes of proper conduct. This statement may seem out of place in the
context of warfighting; however, this is one place where it is most necessary. The fighters, who
often act at the behest of their home nation, must have a code of conduct which allows them to
make the correct decision in a given situation in a combat zone. Rules of Engagement fill this
gap for the national militaries of the civilized world and serve as a soldier s code of conduct in
the field. Similar to Rules of Engagement (ROE) are the Laws of War . The Laws of War were
established as an international agreement. This agreement attempted to curtail the destruction
caused by global conflicts such as the two world wars fought during the twentieth century. The
laws of war fall under the Geneva conventions as well. Each of set of rules can be used as a
foundation to create rules of engagement for a particular mission. It is also important to align rules
of engagement with the uniform code of militaryjustice. This code, referred to as the UCMJ, is
used as legal framework for the United States Military.
Definition
Rules of Engagement for the military, as defined by Encyclopedia Britannica, are:
Military directives meant to describe the circumstances under which ground, naval, and air forces
will enter into and continue combat with opposing forces. Formally, rules of engagement refer to the

the Hawaiian volcanoes and islands themselves are what make the area so significant. There will be

Essentially, the key fact that makes the islands of Hawaii so unique and worthy of studying is that
nearly the entire mountain range is built entirely by volcanic activity and each island is the top of
an enormous volcanic mountain. These exceptional qualities fuel the study of how the islands
themselves were created, in order to answer the curiosities behind the composition of some of the
most extravagant volcanoes in the world.
III.History of the Hawaiian Islands
The basic theory of plate tectonics says that all volcanic activity should occur between
lithosphere plates (Physical Geology). However, the Hawaiian Islands bend this rule by being
located directly in the middle of the Pacific plate. The Hawaiian volcanoes are known as intraplate
volcanoes. This may not seem possible because it disrupts the rule of plate tectonics, but there s the
exception of a hot spot. T. Wilson suggested that the Pacific plate moved in the northwestward
direction over a melting spot deep within the mantle, and this hot spot remained relatively
stationary and supplied magma to the moving Pacific plate to form the Hawaiian Island chain
(Volcanoes in the Sea). In order to prove this suggestion, the structure of the Hawaiian Islands must
be in line with a hot spot origin. This will be

Sunshine Chapel Narrative
I can still recall the day I stepped foot into Sunshine Chapel. The walls shimmered with a golden
sheen; the floor was marbled and impeccable. The pristine desk, the neat little rows of plush

room s atmosphere. The emotions of those who had once trod upon the chapel s grounds were
still etched into the walls, and no amount of scrubbing could erase them. The receptionist

No Child Left Behind Analysis
This paper will be concerned with the federal legislation known as No Child Left Behind (NCLB).
The proclaimed intention of this law is to improve both the quality and equality of education in the
United States. NCLB attempts to do this by focusing on the use of standardized academic tests.
Many educators have criticized NCLB for its philosophical assumptions and for having an impact
that is the opposite of what is supposedly intended.
Historical Background
The ideas behind NCLB stem from changes in the federal government s role in education, which
have been occurring since the 1950s. In 1954, the Supreme Court decision in Brown v. Board of
Education outlawed the practice of racial segregation in America s schools (A guide, 2004, p....

fails to address the real problems that schools face and it is overly focused on being punitive

Huckleberry Finn Confederate
Would Huck Finn Grow up to be a Confederate? As one of the most iconic American literary
characters, does Huckleberry Finn have a racist mindset? In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,
by Mark Twain, Huckleberry Finn despite his apparent affection for his escaped black friend Jim, is
racist and a product of his environment. This is seen through the language he uses, his
condescending attitude towards Jim, and his demonstrated beliefs of white supremacy.
To start things off, Huckleberry Finn uses strong, hateful language to slaves and all African
Americans in general. When Jim is introduced Huck describes him as Miss Watson s big nigger,
named Jim... (p.4). Huck clearly sees the need to address Jim as a black man before he even gets
to his name. Demonstrating that Huck sees a difference between blacks and whites, he says,
Betsy (this was a nigger woman)... (p.96). It is not singular to how he views Jim, Huck refers to all
black people in the same derogatory fashion, with racial slurs and racist language.
Secondly, Huckleberry constantly talks to Jim as if he was older than him, when in actuality, Jim
is much older than he is. At the point in the story when Jim tells Huck he ran away Huck responds

Examples Of Conformity In 1984
The sociological behavior associated with conformity in groups is a concept that directly affects
us as human beings, it s in our very nature to be a part of a group and we are encouraged to not
stand alone even if that means ignoring moral awareness. In these two dystopian novels and even
as some would say in our modern society, large powerful entities that have the authority to control
people s lives will relentlessly play on the inescapable human instinct of conformity. In 1984, the
citizens of Oceania were prohibited from having any type of sexual relations, they even had the
anti sex league, so here we have a government entity limiting the primal human instinct of
reproduction. This relentless censorship of sexuality is what lead winston to say to Julia before

not saying he wants to be a bad member of society, he s saying the definition of purity that the

him to do. He and Julia are almost proud to oppose the party because they have enough of an

Laws vs. The Right to Life
The debate over abortion has divided Americans into polarized sides since the Supreme Court s 7

right under the United States Constitution. The lawsuit began when Norma McCorvey became
pregnant with her third child in 1969 and could not get a legal abortion in Texas. With her
attorneys, they filed a lawsuit. Roe v. Wadereached Supreme Court appeal in 1970 (Rovner). At
this time, there were a few related court cases whose decisions directly affected McCorvey s case.
Griswold v. Connecticut decided that there is a right to privacy in the Constitution. Younger v.
Harris decided that federal courts could not hear civil right cases by a person currently being
prosecuted for a matter arising from that claim. In U.S. v. Vuitch, the court ruled to criminalize
abortion with the exception if the mother s life was endangered and it also labeled abortion as an
emergency medical procedure (Masci). These cases laid out a foundation for McCorvey s attorneys
as the rulings were then applied to her case, benefitting their arguments tremendously.
This official governmental interference allowed for federal action and resulted in legalized abortion
nationwide under the three tiered system regarding the three trimesters in a pregnancy.. However,
despite this landmark decision in U.S.

Essay On Robin Williams Suicide
Does Suicide Lead to Depression?
Robin Williams the famous actor from Chicago Illinois. Was born July 21st, 1951 and he died
August 11th 2014. Williams was an actor in San Francisco and Los Angeles. He was married
three times for a total of Twentyfour years he had three kids. Williams was diagnosed with
depression and Parkinson s disease. Sarah Larimer and Medical history authorities said that
Williams had an increase of paranoia (Robin Williams).
Robin was a wonderful actor, so it was no wonder nobody, not even his wife saw this coming. On
august 11th Williams was declared dead at 12:02am. He had ended his life by a successful suicide
attempt in his home. He had shown no signs of wanting to commit suicide .(Robin Williams.)
Said Susan Schneider, Williams third wife said and D Harris had reported it.Robin Williams is
an example how depressing it is leading to suicide. The most common age of committing suicide
is the ages between fifteen and Twenty Four. As of right now more and more people are making
suicide attempts. There are many reasons to why people want to end their lives. There s one main
reason for the most suicide attempts and that is depression. So the real issue is depression and all
the questions that come with it. For example How can depression cause someone ... Show more

If people can t get over being depressed, then the world is going to be a real a issue someday.
Everyone gets depressed in their life for different reasons. Some people stay depressed, others
bounce out of it depends on what is causing the depression and how long it last. There is a
difference between a dog dying depression and a bullying depression. People in the world need to
start recognizing the depression issues in the world and start helping not just turn the other way and
say it s not their problem because regrets are made when someone commits

Safety And Gas Field Operations Facility And Review Work...
If I were to walk in to a randomly selected oil and gas field operations facility and review work
interactions and procedures for 15 minutes, would I be able to adequately address the safety
culture within the building? To add more information, let s say I was required to sign in and was
given a quick evacuation briefing. Further, all employees were wearing appropriate PPE and Safety
First signs were prominently hung on the walls for all to see. With the given, after 15 minutes of
work observation, would I then be able to adequately make an observation? To bring this
situational scenario to a close, let s say the facility in question was my own Oklahoma City facility.
The answer regarding an adequate evaluation is I would only be observing the safety climate at that
given time, not the overall safety culture.
Safety culture has taken on many varieties of definitions since the term first appeared in 1986
but a version I particularly identify with is as follows: A set of values, perceptions, attitudes and
patterns of behavior with regard to safety shared by members of the organization; as well as a set
of policies, practices and procedures relating to the reduction of employee s exposure to
occupational risks, implemented at every level of the organization, and reflecting a high level of
concern and commitment to the prevention of accidents and illnesses. (Fernandez Muniz et al.,
2007, p. 628)
As noted above in the facility observation scenario, it was the safety climate

Aldo Leopold s Sand County Almanac
Sand County Almanac
By :Mason Ostlie
Sand County Almanac was written by Aldo Leopold in 1949. He is a environmentalist and forester
and has helped out with many hunting and conservation magazines. This book is one of the most
inspirational environmental books ever created in the 20th century. It contains several of Leopold s
thoughts about his interactions with nature. Many of the main concepts and foundations of modern
conservation, ecology and land ethic can be found in this book.He explains what it means to be a
person of the land and that people don t care about taking care of the land. Everyone wants what s
most convenient for them and that we can use everything. Everything is here for the purpose to
make us happy. The Sand County... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The summary of Leopold s work is what should be admired, as Leopold was a pioneer in
changing the American view of the people s place in nature. One of my favorite quotes in the
book was: the modern dogma is comfort at any cost , which is saying that to get comfort, you
have to spend money. Another favorite quote was: is education possibly a process of trading
awareness for things of lesser worth? What I got out of this is that it s saying the true definition
of education and what school is. Leopold s views on the world are very good and they show
how much we don t think about the world and the land ethic. Also, it shows how all we care
about is comfort and convenience. His view of being out with nature is also good because our
world is filled with technology and many people forget about nature and how important it is to
us. The through line that I think defines him is Earth Keeper, his views of how technology and
people hurt nature and how we need to protect it. Nature is such a big part of our lives and we
need to take care of the earth.A topic I was challenged by is the whole aspect of is almost
everything bad? Is all technology and photography bad? Photography, I feel,

Longtown Racial Diversity
To Keep Racial Diversity in Longtown I would say it s best for the families that stand strong for

nearly 200 yearsВЁ by Washington Post, In paragraph 2 it is mentioned that ВЁNow that way of

Literary Analysis Of Eve Of St. Agnes
Eve of St. Agnes had an overwhelming amount of information to take in, and I mean a lot. The
setting where the poem had taken place is what had drawn me in from the get go. What s more
thrilling than an enchanting gothic castle, twisting hallways, the concept forbidden love being
tossed around, medieval feasts, bloodlust dating back all the way to ancient times? I felt as if I was
traveling through time each page I had turned.
The initial part of the poem had major Romeo and Juliet characteristics with Keats giving
Porphyro and Madeline s families a rivalry, but never actually telling his readers how they got it.
Personally, I felt like we really weren t able to grasp how these two kids even got together either or
what their relationship is really like. Instead, Keats relied heavily on the star crossed lovers kept
apart by the family feud motif to get his readers to vividly fill in the blanks.
Nevertheless, Porphyro is a jerk. He turned out to not be the romantic hero I initially had
perceived him to be. My dumb, naive, and sappy heart thought it was adorable that he strategized
this plan to run away with his girlfriend, the alleged love of his life, who had also happened to be
part of the bloodline that is in rivalry with his. I had already taken on this abstract picture in my
mind of some cute prince whisking this princess off her feet, running off into the sunset on a horse,
and with her in his arms.
But that picture got annihilated when he had cynically tricked

Silence In The Birthday Party
Technically, silence can be defined as the absolute absense of sound. In human interaction,
however, the boundaries of this definition may fade. In that case, it is not the total absense of
sound but the absense of speech that determines the silence within a conversation. According to
Harold Pinter, this conversational silence can be divided into two categories: one when no word
is spoken. The other when perhaps a torrent of language is being employed . In other words, one
kind of silence occurs when two people are quiet and not talking to one another. The other, the
torrent of language , concerns what can be read between the lines, or the real truth behind what is
being said. This latter may not be a genuine silence, but in Pinter s plays,... Show more content on

Written in 1957, a fearful time of oppression and censorship, The Birthday Party explores this
theme through Stanley s futile efforts to stand up for himself against the ones he feared most.
Even though his fate remains unknown, as well as the actual reason for Goldberg and McCann s
presence, fact is that his mental breakdown seems to represent the state of mind of the people of
America at the time. In alignment to the impending doom Stanley felt throughout the play,
resulting in him basically losing his voice, the people could not fight the terrors of the Cold War
and the other wars going on at the time. They were not allowed to resist their government, as that
could very well be their own end as well as their country s. As Charles Grimes states in his Harold
Pinter s Politics: A Silence Beyond Echo , virtually all of Pinter s political works end in some
variant of this painful, double edged silence (49). By this, he asserts that there are two sides to
Stanley s silence: [it] is both absolute and complex; it also represents the necessity of a futile
resistance to all analogous brutalities (49). Therefore, silence and resistance go hand in hand, as
silence is nothing but the unspoken

Descriptive Essay On People In Life
There are some people in life, that inspire you, while others can make it more exciting. But, there
are a few that can do both. Inspiration is the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel
something, especially to do something creative. The people you meet or see in life that can do
both seem to influence your very own decisions. They produce unwavering emotions and never
seem to concede. These people are the true exemplars of the aphorism, You only live once. These
people know how to fight for their lives, or hold back their emotions for the greater good of
others. Shannon Cummings, Rick Porcello, and Devin/Jason Mccourty are my illustrations of
people that live life to the fullest and try to help others that aren t able to do the same on their
own. They are honest when they need to be, but they know when to tell a white lie to keep from
hurting others. These people are philanthropists, donating their time, money, or energy to help
others. They are people that are stoic, keeping their emotions to themselves when they are down,
which allows others to do the same. Some of them are underdogs in their areas of expertise, but
they defy expectations regularly. They are people that overcome many challenges in their way
throughout life. These people share the same characteristics as many others in the world, but it is
how they use them that makes them extraordinary. It s not the hand you re dealt that wins the
game, it s how you play the hand you re dealt and overcome

Analysis of the Old Romanticism Genre through Izzy,...
When we think of romance novels, one s first thought might be of the kind we see at the newsstand
while waiting to check out at the grocery store. Visions of a white knight like Fabio whisking away
the fair damsel in distress. Romance novels for the young adult are appealing because many
romantic symbols relate directly to what they re experiencing both physically and emotionally in
their lives; that of youthfulness and hope.
The protagonist of Izzy, Willy Nilly is Isobel Lingard, a/k/a Izzy; a 15 year old sophomore, who
is a popular girl at school. When asked out by a senior, Marco Griggers, she becomes the envy of
her friends. The ironic thing is that she wasn t even that interested in him, personally. It was more

Another example of the visions Izzy had through her alternate little Izzy was when she came
home from the hospital and was trying to develop some type of routine. Learning how to adjust
living in the real world with her physical challenges. Izzy could see little Izzy all folded up on the
floor. She looked like a bad imitation of the dying swan, her leg and a half stuck out and her head
bowed down. Little Izzy put her hands over her face, wanting to disappear into the gray darkness
of depression that was swallowing her alive.
Romance literature for young adults uses the characteristic of exaggeration to express a variety
of emotions to its reader. This normally is accomplished in a fast paced plot, where the
characters are few and the narrative events and language flow quickly while still presenting
dramatic images. In Izzy, Willy Nilly, all of the different incidents with Izzy s girlfriends and the
townspeople help to portray how society has a tendency to only look at things from a superficial
view. Izzy originally thinks the same way when Rosamunde first enters her life. Rosamunde is
different than anyone Izzy has ever known. She isn t very pretty; she doesn t dress well at all; she
is also very outspoken and opinionated about everything. At first, this difference is a barrier
between the two girls and their interactions with each other. Rosamunde is constantly apologizing
for overstepping her

Jean Baptiste Lamarck and Charles Darwins Theories of...
Introduction
Evolution is the gradual, continuous change of characteristics throughout a population or a species
over many generations. It is the moderation of characteristics that can alter an entire population
over a long period of time and is the theory that explains the variation in each generation of an
organism.
Charles Darwin s theory was natural selection, the survival of the fittest and the struggle for
existence, which had a great impact on selective breeding. Organisms that were well adapted to
their environment had more tendency to survive and reproduce, providing their genetic
characteristics for future generations whilst those less adapted organisms were more likely to be
decreased in amount. Charles Darwin s theory also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The elephants tusk is a modified tooth made of ivory, they are used for digging, debarking trees,
moving object and making contact with one another. The elephant uses it s large ears, that can be
up to 180cm wide, to cool their blood and distribute it around their bodies to decrease their body
temperature by fanning themselves. Their big ears also contain many blood vessels that give off
body heat to help the African elephant survive the hot weather.
Lamarckian Evolution
The Lamarckian theory would explain that the Woolly Mammoth changed in ways to adapt to the
change of the environment. Lamarck would have believed that the Mammuthus primigenius would
have sheded it s thick coat of hair to survive as the weather increased in temperature. The Mammoth
s ears would have gotten bigger in size as they would have stretched to fan themselves to keep cool
due to the hot climate. Their trunks would have slightly gotten longer because they stretched to
reach leaves higher up in trees, this would have been because the trees had gotten taller. All these
characteristic modifications were then passed onto future generations.
Darwinian Evolution
The Woolly Mammoth would have had to adapt to the major climate change. Some mammoth s
would have had larger ears than others, had less hair, been shorter than others and have had longer
trunks. They would have had to learn how to defend themselves by traveling in groups to survive.
The fittest mammoth would have survived to reproduce

Influence of the Eu on Democracy in the Uk
Influence of the EU on Democracy in the UK One of the objectives of the creation of the
European Union was to develop a single market and remove trading barriers so there would be
standardisation of technical regulations and convergence of conditions between European
markets. With this in mind, it saw the need for employers and employees to work together in
order to achieve this. The main statement of the European social policy is the Social Charter
(approved by 11 of the then 12 member states) which seeks to improve working and living
conditions and ensure the effective use of human resource across the EU. This policy seeks to
guarantee rights to individuals in areas such as freedom of movement, improved living and working

The IRA plays a big role in ensuring that employees are fairly treated in the workplace.
Organizations have opted to implement employee relations policies within their organizations
as well. These provide a forum for employee participation and employee involvement. Although
organizations in Trinidad and Tobago are governed by legislation, it is still ineffective in many
instances. There are cases where the recognized majority trade union defy the law and do not
comply with the regulations of the IRA. An example is the No Work Day Campaign by the
Public Services Association in January, 2011. This protest would clearly go against section 69
(1) where public servants are not allowed to take industrial action. In relation to participation in
the EU, various countries have different approaches to encouraging employee participation. For
example, in Germany, a system called co determination is used where employees and their
representatives are involved in all decisions relating to personnel and other aspects of company
policy. It is supported by legislation and involves three methods by which workers can participate.
These methods include a Works Council, Supervisory Board, and Management Board. Works
Councils are formed where there are more than five workers and consists only of workers
representatives. They have rights to receive information on health and safety, jobs, work changes
that adversely affect employees, and the

Internet Protocol Version 4 ( Ipv4 ) IPV4 Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) is the fourth version of the Internet Protocol (IP) and it is only protocol widely used for the communication purpose in the computer networks and it works in the Internet layer of the OSI reference model. The IPv4 address is 32 bits long. The 32 bit is divided into four groups. Each group has the eight bits which forms as an octet. Each IP address has two parts called the network id and the host id. This IP address is used as a unique identification address for the hosts in the networks. Network ID also known as network address used to identify the network from the large internetwork. All the computers in the same network will have the same network ID. Host ID is also known as host address used to identify the host in the same network. There are five classes of IPv4 address. They are Class A, Class B, Class C, Class D and Class E. Class A, Class B and Class C are most commonly used, Class D is multicast and Class E is for the research and the development purpose. These classes of IP addresses are used in different location based on the network infrastructure. The first octet in the class A IP address belong to the network part and the remaining three octets represents the host part of the IP address. Class A can be written as N.H.H.H, N refers the network identifier and the H refers the host identifier, The number of available hosts is 16,77,214 in each network, number of networks available is 128 and the default mask is ... • 3. Rollercoaster There are hordes of roller coasters getting designed and made all over the world, but this one is different from a lot of them. Underwater is a theme that a lot of people enjoy gawking at. My roller coaster is an underwater coaster. The technology involved in making all of the designs was made by the best in the business. It hits spins, sharp turns, loops and enormous drops. It is 254 feet in the air and has a top speed of 53 miles per hour. It is 5,345 feet long (1629 meters) and takes 68 seconds or 1 minute and 8 seconds. The cart has 4 rows and 5 seats in each row. As you are going throughout the ride the cart will spin so that you can see all of our aspects on the ride. Some amazing features underwater are that you will be zooming through a pirate ship, you will observe some exotic fish, you will see sharks, the seats will turn, as you are traveling up the first hill a captain will show up in a screen and explain to you all about what you are getting into because underwater there will be images that look like you are fighting a pirate ship. Finally the inside of the cart will be designed like a ship. So as you start the ride a glass cover will raise over your head. After... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After you reach the bottom of the hill you do a corkscrew spin and then do 3 loops and as you are doing the loops you are experiencing Newton s 1st Law, an object that is in motion stays in motion and an object at rest stays at rest. When you are done with the loops you go out of the water for a quick hill and then back underwater. Not long after you speed underwater you hit a loop that is out of the water and then back into the water while a high g force is acting on you. Next you go through a pirate ship where you see cannons and there is a special effect that makes you seem like you are on a moving ship and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That stuff can drive you nuts . More: Well, I believe when statesmen forsake their own private conscience for the sake of their public duties they lead their country by a short route to chaos. Act I, Scene II. Our ability to discern what is morally right and wrong speaks volume about where our values lie. The subjective norm of moral behavior determines how individuals will respond when placed in changing circumstances. Down at the Waterfront, the Longshore men live by the code of DND...deaf and dumb.. where it is everyman for himself . Although they suffer, they are content to abide by this code as it promises day s worth of work and money to provide for their family. Even though they covet the justice of their poor working conditions, they deny their conscience as it poses as a threat to the security of their job... If I was a wiseguy, I wouldn t have been a longshore man for 30 years. I m poorer now than when I started . It is tacit among the men that any immoral act to speak against the union is highly discouraged, as it would greatly impact their accustomed lifestyles. These men stay immune to their conscience don t say nothing, keep quiet and you ll live long . Similarly to the Common Man who d rather be as a live rat than a dead lion . The jailer invokes this excuse to justify not living by his moral principals when More desperately pleads for more time with his family. • 5. The Stigma Of The Homeless During the Great Depression, the homeless were almost glamorized as vagabonds who rode the rails with their belongings neatly tied up in a bandana over their shoulder. Today, the homeless can be anyone: children or women escaping an abusive relationship or those who just cannot afford to pay for housing. While some homeless people maintain employment of some sort, long term homelessnessis usually a function of the inverse; either severely under employed or no income stream at all with which to pay rent and utilities. While quite a bit of academic research has shown the need to focus on societal causes of homelessness, people who are homeless seem to be increasingly perceived and treated within a paradigm of individual sickness. While... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... National estimates suggest that nearly 2 million youth experience homelessness (Rhodes, Wine Rice, April 2014) and that between 5 25% of those have some sort of pet. While it appears that pet ownership may contribute to a wide range of benefits, this also presents conflicts that arise within the homeless population. Homeless respondents also have stated that the general public tends to treat them better or are more likely to talk to them because of their pets, with the pets acting as social facilitators (Ibed). Pet ownership can strike such a strong emotional chord within a homeless person that it has been found within research that had not specifically focused on pet ownership within the homeless community have identified pets as a self reported barrier to having access to social support mechanisms. This attachment to their pets are many times so strong that they (homeless) would sacrifice personal healthcare and other social services if no one was available to care for their pet while utilizing said treatment (J. • 6. What Is Stop And Frisk What is stop and frisk? Who uses stop and frisk? According to Haq stop and frisk is a program that enables a police officer to stop, question, and frisk a person for weapons (1). This means that a police officer can only search someone if they possess reasonable suspicion and follow their guidelines. People should have open ideas of ways of reducing gun violence and not closing before hearing the proposals. People say that stop and frisk promote racial profiling and that it invades one s privacy rights. Policeofficer are human being and make mistakes because no one is perfect in this Earth. Gun violence has been a main subject now a day, where you hear it on the news about a school shooting. Stop and frisk are an effective way to bring down crimerates in one s city yet some people may think otherwise and think it s not acceptable. The practice of stop and frisk is necessary to protect the people and to be capable to reduce crime off the streets; without it crime rates like gun violence would increase drastically. In James Q. Wilson essay Just Take Away Their Guns he argues that restraining citizens from purchasing guns legally don t have any effect on those who purchase firearms illegally. For example legal constraints on the lawful purchase of guns will have little effect on the illegal use of guns (Wilson 125). Wilson is saying that it will be tough to find the illegal firearms purchased and people would always find a way to buy guns illegally. There is no way the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the meantime, the banks are flourishing from their desire to buy now and pay later. It is amazing how a small piece of plastic can be so dangerous. Society todayalmost requires people to carry credit cards. In my opinion, credit cards are one of America s family s most underrated problems. One could assume the banks encourage spending on impulsein order to secure their future. The access to credit cards make it possible to make large purchases instantly. The banks set low minimum payments; however, by doing so all you pay on the account is interest. In turn, a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Presently, most companies require or encourage direct deposit for their employees. The banks really have an advantage in this process. A person will have to receive an ATM card for accessing their money, but the bank will also include a VISA symbol on the card. In some cases, the bank allows the VISA credit line to be used for overdraft protection. A consumer may be unaware that exceeding their checking balance by $5.00 causes the bank to draft $100.00 increments into the account from the credit line. This procedure can be deceiving to the customer. The banks offer credit cards to most everyone, and sometimes they even send the cards through the mail without permission from the consumer. It is unbelievable the high limits of credit offered on some of these cards. People with good credit are targeted highly by banks and lending institutions. It leads one to think that the banks are adding more stress to the lives of Americans by making spending so easy. Finally, with the large lines of credit available on most cards, the problem of theft is very dangerous. If your card is stolen, a thief can potentially destroy someone financially in a matter of hours. Everytime the card is used it presents a danger of someone using your account number. Also, it can lead to other vital information including, social security number, bank account numbers, and other private information. Consumers take a large risk using credit cards. • 8. Examples Of Object Oriented Analysis Design Object Oriented Analysis Design (OOAD) Object Oriental Analysis Design is a hands on approach used to model and create systems as a group of interacting objects. The term Object , describes a form of entity or thing of concern. Objects are typically modeled after real world entities or concepts. For the business analyst, examples of objects may range from; invoice, product, contract, etc. Objects usually contain attributes that can be set to specific values. With Object Oriented Approach to system design, it tries to lessen the impact of problems by combining related data and functions into the same module. Objects In the real world can be characterized by two things; data and behavior. For example, a television is an object and possess data in the sense that it is tuned to a particular channel, the scan rate is set to a certain value, the contrast and brightness is a particular value and so on. The television object can also do things. The television can switch on and off, the channel can be changed, and so on. Below is a graphical representation of a single object and its characteristics:... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The thyroid gland is abundant with blood vessels and it secretes thyroid hormone (Kumar 22). Thyroid hormone influences many different internal body functions such as, metabolism, growth, development, turning food into energy, and increases body temperature. Thyroidhormone is very important for brain development and normal growth during infancy; furthermore, a newborn s blood drawn from their heel and sent for screening determines of level of thyroid stimulating hormone (Samuels 2). Farmworkers will not be able to keep up with the supply and demand of food that will be needed in the future. In Karl Grossman s article, Locavore Movement Overlooks Farmworkers, he describes the way that the locavore movement works. It is a great system, but it will never work out because of the supply and demand that would be needed in order to provide for the population. Within the article he states, small farms like their factory farms counterparts, are largely staffed by noncitizens, immigrant workers. Through this statement he shows that even now there is not enough staff to produce food for the seven billion people now, and if there is an extra two billion people on Earth there is no way that the farmworkers could keep up with the supply and demand. With the farmers not going to be able to provide the food that is needed locally, they should start using the stem cells from their animals and create locally grown synthetic meat, and thus they will not only be able to keep up with the supply and demand but save animals in the process. Not only will they save lives they will know what is being put into the meat since they would be the ones making it. It is better to have synthetic meat created from stem cells in machines because machines are better than humans. Renzo Piano has designed and brought to life so many structures all over the world. Some of his most famous include Kansai, the world s largest air terminal in Osaka Bay, Japan, where Piano proved himself a master of the gigantic project and again with the imposing Bercy Shopping Center in Paris, as well as a massive and beautiful National Science Museum in Amsterdam. His soccer stadium in Bari, Italy is like no other in the world, with its great swaths of blue sky interrupting the usual monotony of stadium seating. His versatility is displayed further in such projects as the beautiful sweep of a nearly one thousand foot long bridge that curves across Ushibuka Bay in Southern Japan, with the design of a 70,000 ton luxury ocean liner (Great Buildings On line). • 13. The World Of The Classical Solar System Last July, NASA s New Horizons spacecraft flew by Pluto, the last unvisited world of the classical solar system. As the largest known member of the Kuiper belt, Pluto is also the gateway to a new frontier, a scarcely studied collection of primordial icy bodies far from the sun that constitutes the third zone of the solar system after the realms of the inner rocky planets and the outer gas giants. Like most first glimpses of new frontiers, Pluto held so many surprises for New Horizons that the past eight months have seen a steady stream of discoveries coming from the mission, as the spacecraft s small radio transmitter beams its gathered data back home. The biggest surprises have been Pluto s surface and atmosphere, which are restlessly active and diverse despite average temperatures of only tens of degrees above absolute zero. Some scientists expected New Horizons would find Pluto to be little more than an inert, sunlight starved orb. Instead, the spacecraft encountered a world where nitrogen glaciers flow down into plains of frozen methane from towering mountains of water ice. Sunless half frozen oceans lurk deep beneath the surface, and multiple moons tumble overhead through hydrocarbon hazed red skies that tinge to blue at sunrise and sunset. But beyond celebrating the visceral thrill of the Pluto flyby itself, or the intellectual frisson of gazing on full color close ups of a place so alien and faraway, most of these discoveries from New Horizons have so far found a ... The Puritan push for temperance became stronger, and in 1826, the Society for the Promotion of Temperance was formed with over five thousand chapters across the United States; this group was partly responsible for the implementation of the illegality of buying alcohol in many states on a Sunday (Indiana is the only state in which this law remains in effect) and for the movement that preceded the Prohibition in 1920 (Holt). The people of the United States wanted to preserve the land to let future generations see the shooting geysers, bubbling hot pots, forests full of towering lodgepole pines, sparkling lakes, and magnificent views of the stars at night. Of course, the land supported unique animals such as bison, bald eagles, elk, grizzly bears, and wolves. • 19. The China Boom Summary The China Boom: Why China Will Not Rule the World, by Ho fung Hung. New York: Columbia University Press, 2016. Ho fung Hung s work attempts to reconcile the widespread expectation that China s rise would lead to a fundamental change in the global status quo with the observed fact that China has become increasingly connected to and one with the global status quo. To do this, he must first examine China s rise and prove that it upholds the global status quo, and further must look into the origins of China s rise, going back to the 13th century, to understand why this rise seemingly changed so little about the global world order. Hung s stated goals are as follows. First, he aims to outline the historical origins of the capitalist boom in China as well as the conditions which predicated said boom. He also names four conceptions against history to explore the global effects of China s capitalist boom and the limit of that boom. Firstly, he seeks to challenge the notion that China is challenging the United States neoliberal order. Secondly, he examines the belief that the increasing incomes of poor Chinese citizens helps to reverse worldwide income polarization. Thirdly, he analyzes the claim that China s rise is challenging Western dominion over the world, and is radically altering the world order. Lastly, he plans to evaluate the assertion that China has been emerging as the most powerful driver of growth since the global financial crisis. He plans to devote a single chapter to the refutation of each of these views and explanations of why they overstate the importance of China, in addition to several introductory chapters describing China s rise. He aims to prove with this work that China is no different than the other major capitalist powers, that its boom is dependent on the global neoliberal order, that its boom contributes to rampant inequality, and, in sum, that China is just a foundation of the capitalist status quo. Hung s first foray into the history behind China s rise centers on the massive influx of American silver into 17th and 18th century China and how it fueled a commercial revolution. Furthermore, part of the disagreement between the Eastern and Western Church was because the definition stated that Christ is acknowledged in two natures, which come together into one person and one hypostasis. The critics (some Eastern churches) understood this to side with western Christology, they felt that it diverged from the teachings of Cyril of Alexandria who said that Christ has one nature. Now, as Ember and Ember explain in the text, in order to deal with violence within families, we must first decide on what should be classified as abuse and what is not (Ember Ember, pg. 230). The word abuse can have various definitions across cultures, as not everyone thinks of it in the same way. To some, hitting a child is a perfectly acceptable form of punishment and of wife beating can be seen in a male dominating household as a necessary act to keep a spouse in check. I personally believe that abuse can be defined as the repeatedly cruel or violent treatment of someone, mainly intended to do harm against that person. I believe that in order to combat this problem, there is a few main actions that can be done that can at least reduce the amount of family violencewe see throughout cultures. For one, people need to acknowledge that family violence, both domestic violenceand child abuseis real and exists throughout countless societies and communities. The second is to realize that family violence is not a necessary behavior and can actually have long lasting and damaging effects on the people we love the most. The third action is to educate people in alternative ways they can deal with their family members without having to resort to violence. For example, The Great Library of Alexandria did not exist in during this time period. During the center portion of the movie, there was a dramatized scene where the Christians were attacking the Agora while the Pagans were in the library attempting to save the important books. The movie s setting is based around the 4th century A.D. which is a clear indication that the library was no longer in existence.* Another example of the film s inaccuracy is the account and event of Hypatia s death. In the film, her death was the result of her knowledge and her ability to reason which labeled her as a witch. In addition, her death did not have anything to do with her religious beliefs or the fact that she was a woman. Hypatia s death was due to politics. This statement may seem out of place in the context of warfighting; however, this is one place where it is most necessary. The fighters, who often act at the behest of their home nation, must have a code of conduct which allows them to make the correct decision in a given situation in a combat zone. Rules of Engagement fill this gap for the national militaries of the civilized world and serve as a soldier s code of conduct in the field. Similar to Rules of Engagement (ROE) are the Laws of War . The Laws of War were established as an international agreement. This agreement attempted to curtail the destruction caused by global conflicts such as the two world wars fought during the twentieth century. The laws of war fall under the Geneva conventions as well. Each of set of rules can be used as a foundation to create rules of engagement for a particular mission. These exceptional qualities fuel the study of how the islands themselves were created, in order to answer the curiosities behind the composition of some of the most extravagant volcanoes in the world. III.History of the Hawaiian Islands The basic theory of plate tectonics says that all volcanic activity should occur between lithosphere plates (Physical Geology). However, the Hawaiian Islands bend this rule by being located directly in the middle of the Pacific plate. The Hawaiian volcanoes are known as intraplate volcanoes. This may not seem possible because it disrupts the rule of plate tectonics, but there s the exception of a hot spot. T. Wilson suggested that the Pacific plate moved in the northwestward direction over a melting spot deep within the mantle, and this hot spot remained relatively stationary and supplied magma to the moving Pacific plate to form the Hawaiian Island chain (Volcanoes in the Sea). In order to prove this suggestion, the structure of the Hawaiian Islands must be in line with a hot spot origin. This will be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The pristine desk, the neat little rows of plush chairs, the potted plants stationed at every corner... they all gave the chapel an air of quiet efficiency. However, I could not help but feel as if their only purpose was to distract from the room s atmosphere. The emotions of those who had once trod upon the chapel s grounds were still etched into the walls, and no amount of scrubbing could erase them. The receptionist glanced up as we approached. Are you here for Bich Lai s funeral? My father gave a gruff nod, while my mother only clutched my sister s arm. All right, that ll be the room right in the center, she chirped. You can t miss it. My sister thanked her before leading us towards the centermost room. The sound of heavy rain followed in our wake. The proclaimed intention of this law is to improve both the quality and equality of education in the United States. NCLB attempts to do this by focusing on the use of standardized academic tests. Many educators have criticized NCLB for its philosophical assumptions and for having an impact that is the opposite of what is supposedly intended. Historical Background The ideas behind NCLB stem from changes in the federal government s role in education, which have been occurring since the 1950s. In 1954, the Supreme Court decision in Brown v. In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain, Huckleberry Finn despite his apparent affection for his escaped black friend Jim, is racist and a product of his environment. This is seen through the language he uses, his condescending attitude towards Jim, and his demonstrated beliefs of white supremacy. To start things off, Huckleberry Finn uses strong, hateful language to slaves and all African Americans in general. When Jim is introduced Huck describes him as Miss Watson s big nigger, named Jim... Eskandari Political Science 101 SBCC April 19, 2015 T/R 11:10 Laws vs. The Right to Life The debate over abortion has divided Americans into polarized sides since the Supreme Court s 7 2 decision in Roe v. Wade on January 22, 1973, where the Court deemed abortiona fundamental right under the United States Constitution. The lawsuit began when Norma McCorvey became pregnant with her third child in 1969 and could not get a legal abortion in Texas. With her attorneys, they filed a lawsuit. Roe v. Wadereached Supreme Court appeal in 1970 (Rovner). At this time, there were a few related court cases whose decisions directly affected McCorvey s case. Griswold v. Connecticut decided that there is a right to privacy in the Constitution. Younger v. Harris decided that federal courts could not hear civil right cases by a person currently being prosecuted for a matter arising from that claim. In U.S. v. Vuitch, the court ruled to criminalize abortion with the exception if the mother s life was endangered and it also labeled abortion as an emergency medical procedure (Masci). These cases laid out a foundation for McCorvey s attorneys as the rulings were then applied to her case, benefitting their arguments tremendously. This official governmental interference allowed for federal action and resulted in legalized abortion nationwide under the three tiered system regarding the three trimesters in a pregnancy.. The setting where the poem had taken place is what had drawn me in from the get go. What s more thrilling than an enchanting gothic castle, twisting hallways, the concept forbidden love being tossed around, medieval feasts, bloodlust dating back all the way to ancient times? I felt as if I was traveling through time each page I had turned. The initial part of the poem had major Romeo and Juliet characteristics with Keats giving Porphyro and Madeline s families a rivalry, but never actually telling his readers how they got it. Personally, I felt like we really weren t able to grasp how these two kids even got together either or what their relationship is really like. Instead, Keats relied heavily on the star crossed lovers kept apart by the family feud motif to get his readers to vividly fill in the blanks. Nevertheless, Porphyro is a jerk. He turned out to not be the romantic hero I initially had perceived him to be. My dumb, naive, and sappy heart thought it was adorable that he strategized this plan to run away with his girlfriend, the alleged love of his life, who had also happened to be part of the bloodline that is in rivalry with his. In that case, it is not the total absense of sound but the absense of speech that determines the silence within a conversation. According to Harold Pinter, this conversational silence can be divided into two categories: one when no word is spoken. The other when perhaps a torrent of language is being employed . In other words, one kind of silence occurs when two people are quiet and not talking to one another. The other, the torrent of language , concerns what can be read between the lines, or the real truth behind what is being said. This latter may not be a genuine silence, but in Pinter s plays,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Written in 1957, a fearful time of oppression and censorship, The Birthday Party explores this theme through Stanley s futile efforts to stand up for himself against the ones he feared most. Even though his fate remains unknown, as well as the actual reason for Goldberg and McCann s presence, fact is that his mental breakdown seems to represent the state of mind of the people of America at the time. In alignment to the impending doom Stanley felt throughout the play, resulting in him basically losing his voice, the people could not fight the terrors of the Cold War and the other wars going on at the time. They were not allowed to resist their government, as that could very well be their own end as well as their country s. As Charles Grimes states in his Harold Pinter s Politics: A Silence Beyond Echo , virtually all of Pinter s political works end in some variant of this painful, double edged silence (49). By this, he asserts that there are two sides to Stanley s silence: [it] is both absolute and complex; it also represents the necessity of a futile resistance to all analogous brutalities (49). Charles Darwin s theory was natural selection, the survival of the fittest and the struggle for existence, which had a great impact on selective breeding.
