Wrinkle In Time
In the book A Wrinkle in Time, written by Madeleine L Engle, a young girl goes on an adventure with
her little brother, her friend, and three magical creatures. The science fiction novel focuses on Meg
Murry, an awkward and impatient high school student, who sets off on an adventure to rescue her
missing father from a giant disembodied brain named IT. She is accompanied by her extraordinary
younger brother Charles Wallace, Calvin O Keefe, a popular and athletic boy that goes to her school,
and three celestial beings named Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which. Three important elements
of the story are the characterization, setting, and theme.
First, one of Calvin s characteristics that is shown throughout the story is his protectiveness ... Show

Mrs. Whatsit loves me; that s what she told me, that she loves me, Suddenly she knew. She
knew!Love. That was what she had that IT did not have. She had Mrs. Whatsit s love, and her father s,
and her mother s, and the real Charles Wallace s love, and the twins , and Aunt Beat s. And she had her
love for them. (207). This shows how important love is in the story, it is what Meg, the protagonist,
has that IT, the antagonist, doesn t. And it is that love that allows her to defeat IT and save Charles
Wallace. The gentle words, the feeling that this beast would be able to love her no matter what she
said or did, lapped Meg in warmth and peace. She felt a delicate touch of tentacle to her cheek, as
tender as her mother s kiss. (183) This shows that, no matter what Meg does, the beast, who Meg calls
Aunt Beast, will love her. This also shows the importance of unconditional love and loving despite

The Invocation of Moral Codes in Richard III Essay
Shakespeare s Richard III is from the outset a very moral play. It opens with an introduction to the
character of Richard in his Now is the winter... speech. In this we are first introduced to the idea of a
man becoming evil from his own free will, excused (by him) on the grounds of his inability to fit in
with the physical ideals of society, saying, And therefore, since I cannot prove a lover... I am
determined to prove a villain. Although we are not, at this point, given a definite indication of
Shakespeare s opinion on this moral position, it is the opening for a discussion on what is morally
acceptable, which is continued quite decisively throughout the play.
The character of Richard is the ideal tool for this purpose. He is ... Show more content on

Buckingham indeed becomes resigned to his impending doom, saying, as he is lead off to the block,
Come, sirs, convey me to the block of shame. /Wrong hath but wrong, and blame the due of blame.
This calmness and resignation upon the point of his death show that Buckingham at least is not so
caught up in immorality as to take his death as other than just punishment for his crimes. Hastings,
too, goes quietly to the block, regretting his ignoble triumphing over his slain enemies, Lords Rivers,
Grey and Vaughan. Of these three, Vaughan is silent, Grey believes his death to be in retribution For
standing by when Richard stabbed her [Margaret s] son , and Rivers prays for my sister and her
princely sons, Be satisfied, dear God, with our true bloods...Which, as thou knowest, unjustly must be
spilt. From these, we see both a recognition of some past misdeed for which they are being punished,
and a touching request that they may be the sacrifice to keep the grieving queen and the heir safe. This
last minute resignation and remembrance of others who may be in danger indicates a last ditch
courage, and an acceptance of what the world s moral judgement (spoken through Margaret) would
be.
Retribution is a key issue throughout the play. All those who commit crimes are eventually punished,
and Richard can be seen as the tool of retribution, as it is through his scheming

Alien Of The Deep Sea
The documentary Alien of the Deep Sea presented us with six different experiments aimed at studying
different aspects of octopuses intelligence. I will focus on just one of those experiments and attempt to
apply Jackendoff s First Fundamental Argument which argues that a language user s mind can be
viewed as an internal computational system containing unconscious set of rules. Camouflage being
one of the most impressive aspects of octopuses intelligence, scientists under the direction of Antonio
P. Cribeiro, conducted an exercise designed to see to what extent the skin of octopuses was capable to
adapt to its surroundings. The experiment was divided into three parts: First, a few octopuses were
introduced to a closed glass box (in full view of potential predators) containing items such as rocks,
sand, and algae which are found in their natural environments. Unsurprisingly, this resulted in the
octopuses adapting effortlessly to their surroundings. Then, the items inside the glass box were
replaced by a piece of canvas printed with a geometric pattern, something that an octopus would never
encounter in its natural habitat. The colors of the canvas were not random, however, but corresponded
to the pigmentation abilities of octopuses. Once again, the octopuses easily completed the task.
Finally, the geometric ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that the octopus was faced with something that it had never encountered before and yet
managed to adjust means that our initial conclusion is wrong: it cannot simply be down to learned
behavior. In this case, the novel geometric canvas is to the octopus what a never heard sentence is to
us. It turns out, an octopus has its own way of dealing with the variety present in its environment, as
long as it fits in with its pigmentation abilities, the same way we have ways to deal with the expressive
variety of language in our own environment thanks to our mind s capacity to recognize

A Brief Note On The Cisco Unified Computing System Essay
1.1.3 Case Study 3 [CFA (Country Fire Authority) Agile Responsive Technology] This Australian
organization also deployed the Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS), VMware, and NetApp to
scale Infrastructure in their data center. [10] In addition to this, Cisco Nexus 1000v series switch was
added to provide visibility of virtual machines at the virtual access layer. This helped to improve the
virtualization intelligence of the network. This platform helped to improve scalability, which was the
primary necessity of the organization. [10] The Cisco UCS manager at the organization is mostly
pleased because of the single pane where you can access the servers and therefore ease manageability.
Virtualization now seems an inevitable move for organizations that want to remain at top notch. With
its great benefits it is unavoidable. It is because of this that I focus my project on Layer 2 domain
expansion by VXLAN Overlay Technology. 1.2 VXLAN [Overlay Technology] The case studies are
based on VXLAN basic idea and its benefits. Originally VXLAN had been invented for the big benefit
where in VLAN, user cannot have more than thousand VLANs in network per device but now, we can
get 16 million VXLAN configuration possible on single virtual switch environment using combined
approach of Cisco and VMware products. [13] 1.3 Literature Reviews Various research papers and
existing published patterns on VXLAN documents helped in selecting this topic and two of them are

Postpartum Psychosis
You carry it with you for nine months. After those nine months, what you produced is a beautiful baby.
Though you are happy with the thought of spending the next eighteen years watching this tiny person
grow, you can t help but feel like something is missing. There are many different types of depression
in the world. The feeling of emptiness as described above could contribute to the diagnosis of
postpartum depression. After having depression for several weeks, some mothers experience the sister
disorder psychosis. Psychiatrist Leslie Tam states that the term postpartum distress (PPD) is just an
umbrella term for postpartum mental disorders. Subjects under this category are the well know baby
blues (depression), anxiety, and in worst ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These hormones can cause a wide range of symptoms. Most the time, mothers with postpartum
psychosis do not have control of their own emotions, making them very harmful to themselves and to
others. Psychology Today writer Mark Levy explains that though PPD is serious, the severity of this
type of psychosis has a predominant symptom which is a break with reality a loss of the ability to
discern what is real from what is not (Levy, 2002). Mothers with psychosis may hear voices, have
hallucinations or delusions. The Journal of Behavioral Health Services Research have determined that
Postpartum women with obsessional thoughts have been noted to have aggressive obsessions to harm
their infants (Coates, 2004). Osvaldo Mejia, who had a personal experience with this illness involving
his wife, explains his encounter: She complained that she was tired but could not sleep and ate little.
She told him she was scared but could not explain why (Black, 2013). Soon after, Mejia realized that
his wife must have been suffering from postpartum psychosis when he found his nine month old baby
boy stabbed in his crib. Many people think that psychosis and bipolar disorder are connected in some
ways. Many research has proven that there might be a relationship between the two disorders, and
even some misdiagnoses. To date, research on bipolar disorder and postpartum illness

U.s. Federal Budget Deficit
1. The total U.S. budget deficit for this year is estimated to be $514 billion, compared to $1.4 trillion
in 2009 (The Budget and Economic Outlook: 2014 to 2024, 2014). Over the last few years, the federal
budget deficit has declined, and is projected to continue to decline this year and leading into 2015
(The Budget and Economic Outlook: 2014 to 2024, 2014).
2. As of September 2014, the United States debt had reached $17.7 trillion dollars (Fighting for a U.S.
federal budget that works for all Americans, 2014). Over the past few years, the U.S. debt has
continued to increase and signs point to this continuing into 2015. According to the article I have

Along with this budget deficit package, President Obama and his administration have also included a
number of proposals which focus to expand access to higher quality early education, money to
upgrade the nation s transportation infrastructure, and to provide funding to those who are having
difficulties in today s labor market in order to help in their preparation in finding a job (Parrot,
Friedman, Kogan, Wan de Water, 2013). I believe this plan has had ample amount of research
conducted and I believe this is economically sound and achievable. I think expanding on higher
quality education earlier in life will be extremely beneficial to the coming generations. This will give
the United States an advantage in the coming years because our younger generations will be more
intelligent with the hopes of continuing advanced education.
4. There are a number of both long and short term effects that a large budget deficit/debt can have on
an economy. First, there will be increased borrowing, meaning the government will need to borrow
from the private sector (Pettinger, 2014). Second, there will be higher debt interests payments,
meaning selling bonds will increase the national debt, leaving future generations to have to pay higher
taxes (Pettinger, 2014). Third, an increase in aggregate demand will occur, which could potentially
cause a higher Real GDP and inflation to

cannot be considered savage. The Ibo are highly religious; the base of most of their daily life revolves
around religion, whether it is how they raise their families or how they grow crops, such as yams. * In
a savage setting, the parents would usually not bother to educate their children or abandon them at a
very early age to fend for themselves. In the Ibo culture, the children learn socially complex skills,
morals and discipline, which shows evidence of a civilized society. * They have complicated rituals

Intro: The Ibo people have a civilized community because they have an organized structure to their
society with rules and laws. A society that employs morals, ethics, and accountability for peoples
actions is not uncivilized. The importance of religion and communication, showing through art and
music, shows their advanced mindset as a whole society. The Nigerian country also shows these
qualifications, despite many beliefs that African countries are uncivilized, they are civilized as well.
Family must play a large part in the civilized culture. This shows civilization by explaining how each
member in a society is watched after and taken care of. Religion also must be taken seriously, and
there must be a majority of one religion in a society, or else the culture is too diverse. This separates
them from each other, halting any possible growing as a civilization.

Essay on A Racism Experiment
Racism, I have heard this term used all my life. Growing up in the South I would hear things from
adults that were supposed to guide and build me into a respectable adult. Instead I heard that white
was right, and if someone wasn t white then they were treated differently. Racism is usually defined as
a race issue; it is also linked to social standing, income and religion. The fight against racism is
ongoing. There are many agencies that combat the violence and hate that is associated with racism.
During the 1930 s the greatest form of racism took place against the Jew s. A quote from Adolf Hitler,

When reading these comments on the blogs a person s true persona comes out, there is less fear of
being caught when hurtful words are typed out. There is not an easy way to track the person that has
made the comments on the blogs. January of 2009 a popular television show aired on ABC called
What Would You Do? ran a social experiment to see how people would react to blatant acts of racism.
The experiment was set in a deli located in Linden, New Jersey. Two Hispanic men walked into a deli
and tried to order a sandwich and coffee; there was an obvious language barrier in the ordering
process. The deli employee, who was an actor, became frustrated with the men, telling them to leave
because We don t Speak Mexican here (Hannan Schwartz). The same experiment was run in the same
deli, but instead of two men they used women. The results for the women were the same as with the
men. Disturbingly out of 88 people that came into the deli only 30 people came to the rescue of the
customers, 49 turned away from the situation and 9 people sided with the racist remarks of the deli
worker. Darick Maxis, a black man, sided with the deli worker. When he was told that the scene he
witnessed was not real but a social experiment. He continued his rant about how they are taking our
jobs, they being the Hispanics. He later stated that he got caught up in the moment. He

Many prisoners were effected with this outbreak. Diseases can and often spread rapidly due to poor
living conditions, and both sick and healthy inmates are grouped in the same cells (Daily Mail, 2016).
It is assessed that if not treated correctly, the diseases that arise from the overcrowded prisons could
spread out into the local populace. Tuberculosis (TB) is the main concern of an outbreak in diseases.
Each person with active TB can spread the disease to 10 other Filipinos each year (Willie T. Ong,
2016). The overcrowding could also be an issue for the economy if bigger prisons are needed to be
built to house the extra inmates. The current budget of the Philippines doesn t cover the feeding and
housing of the current inmates. Therefore, it will put added strain on the economy if extra prisons need

South China Sea. The escalation of the conflict of the South China Sea has put strain on the
relationship between China and the Philippians. The South China Arbitration came about from the

of historic rights and the source of maritime entitlements in the South China Sea (Hague, 2016). The

Dental Bonding
Why Bonding Is A Good Option For Whitening Your Discolored Tooth
If you have a single discolored tooth because it was injured when you were young, you ve probably
found out you can t whiten it using normal teeth whitening procedures. Bleaching works best on
yellowish stains caused by smoking and food. Gray discoloration caused by an injury to the tooth can t
be removed, but you can improve the appearance of your tooth by covering it up. The easiest way to
do that is with dental bonding. Bonding will match your tooth color to the rest of your teeth, and it can
even fix small chips or uneven edges if you have them. Here s why bonding may be the best way to

Three Reasons For The Allies s Success In The Invasion
D Day was a major event in history and there are lots of reasons why the Allies had success in the
invasion. In this essay I will focus on three reasons I believe to be the most significant to victory.
Those reasons are Air Supremacy, Unique and adapted tanks and Operation Fortitude South. D Day
tanks were specialised to fit the environment of Normandy while still being effective in combat. Air
Supremacy was crucial to distract the Germans with the gliders, paratroopers, bombers, and fake
dummies. Operation Fortitude South was a massive and successful deception plan to confuse the
German into thinking the invasion would come at the narrowest part of the channel.
Air Supremacy was crucial for supporting the invasion and confusing the germans. It was something
the Allies needed to have a successful invasion. Before dawn on the 6th of June 1944, paratroopers
and gliders were deployed inland above Normandy. Only a few hours later the beach landings arrived
which totally confused ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was a deception plan that was part of a bigger Operation called Operation Bodyguard, containing
many different deception plans. Fortitude South was commanded by General Bernard Montgomery
and the 21st Army group. Being commanded by such an important general, the Nazis fell for the rouse
and fortified the area around Calais. Within Fortitude there were makeshift planes, inflatable tanks and
artillery as well as fake equipment. The Germans took the bait mostly because Fortitude was located
around the narrowest part of the channel where it would be the easiest place of all to invade from. The
Nazis actually thought at first that the preparation for the actual invasion was rouse. This plan played
an important role in the invasion because it allowed the Allied Powers to catch the Germans by
surprise and to completely disorientate them thinking that the actual invasion was just a raid but they

Is it even worse in Europe? the Guerrilla Girls latest exhibition questions and examines todays art
museums in Europe on the controversial subject of diversity. This exhibition was supported by Valeria
Napoleone XX and Co curator Nayia Yiakoumaki in helping the feminist group exhibit their work at
the Whitechapel gallery.
Revisiting back to their past project in 1986, the It s even worse in Europe exhibition which targeted
mainstream art museum directors and artists, the Guerrilla Girls come back in 2016 to question
whether their original statistics have shifted over time.
Areas that the Guerrilla Girls particularly engage in are the cases of feminism, racism and sexism
particularly situated around the arts.
With this project, we wanted to pose the question Are museums today presenting a diverse history of
contemporary art or the history of money and power? We focus on the understory, the subtext, the
overlooked and the downright unfair. Art can t be reduced to the small number of artists who have
won a popularity contest among bigtime dealers, curators and collectors. Unless museums and
Kunsthallen show as diverse as the cultures they claim to represent, they re just preserving the history
of wealth and power. ( Whitechapel gallery Guerrilla Girls web).

If there is one message that most fairy tales have, it is that good will always triumph over evil. That is
also prevalent in the dark tale from the Brothers Grimm, The Juniper Tree . A story full of cannibalism
and homicide still manages to lead up to an iconic happy ending. Interwoven through every ironic

macabre nature of the story of (as it is also called) My Mother Slew Me, My Father Ate Me . The very

The stepmother mimics this act almost to a tee. After beheading her stepson with the lid of an apple
chest and tricking her daughter to re knock off his head, she and her daughter (against her will) chop
him up and cook him into puddings. They then share a meal together, father included, feasting on the
child s remains. This sociopathic and remorseless act also reflects upon Kronos character traits.
Unforgiving, unyielding, and controlling, he (as the mother does) sets his downfall up through the
desire for power. And she, as Kronos did, found her death through the cunning of the person she was
desiring to control. Kronos wanted to remain the Lord of the universe eternally, and he was told that
his children would overpower him. The Stepmother feared that her stepson would inherit more than
her daughter would, therefor overpowering her. Both Kronos and the Stepmother act the same way,
and eat their offspring. But, in Kronos case, he eats a blanket full of rocks instead of Zeus (all part of
Zeus plan) and becomes sick. With the Stepmother, she hears birdsong and feels sick, as if a heavy
thunderstorm were coming...so full of distress and uneasiness...as if there were a fire in [her] veins .

Personal Narrative Essay Of A Baseball Team
I m sure you ve been told persistence is key, and believe that you can do something, not that you can t.
Well I m not going to show it to you, or tell you, I m going to prove it to you. The summer after 4th
grade year, our baseball team had the greatest summer ever. At the beginning of the season since their
was so many kids at our age group that wanted to play, the adults in charge had to split it up into 3
teams. All 3 teams had fair or average seasons. My team had the best of the 3, but it wasn t quite good
enough. We had had, just enough success, not as much as we would have liked. We found ourselves
barely sneaking into the tournament as the worst out of 8 seeded teams. We had to play against the
undefeated Watertown team in the first round. We were told we had no chance to win, and we believed
that too. The most I ve ever been wrong in my life was saying, we have no chance to beat them. Going
into that game we had convinced ourselves that we had already lost before it even started. We were
about as flat as a tabletop. While warming up we were pretty much just waiting for the game to end,

Media Censorship
April 30, 2011
Media Censorship in the United States
Censorship has existed for longer than we could ever imagine. One of the first acts of state sponsored
censorship occurred in 399 B.C. when Socrates, was executed for the supposed common good of the
people (Guarding Public Morality, 2010, p.1). Socrates was a teacher and a philosopher in ancient
Greece. His teaching methods were controversial for the time, and he was charged with corrupting the
youth and drawing them away from the Greek religion. As a result of his actions, Socrates was
sentenced to death by drinking a poisonous liquid containing hemlock (Guarding Public Morality,
2010, p. 1).
As a teacher, Socrates had many students and one of those students, the Greek ... Show more content

This increase in violence and aggression leads to more crimes being committed by adults. This
thinking leads to the theory that if there was more censorship, there would be less violence on
television, and there would be less crimes being committed (Arguments Favoring, 2009, p.1). Those
who are for media censorship are mostly conservatives who feel that violence and vulgarity should not
be on the television because a child is likely to accidently or even purposely click over to that channel.
Children s critical thinking skills are not fully developed and they cannot comprehend information the
way that adults do. Essentially, they feel that media censorship is essential in society to protect
children from lost moral values (Arguments Favoring, 2009, p.1). On the other side of the debate,
those against censorship of television feel that it is a violation of the Freedom of Speech which is the
first amendment of the United States Constitution (Anti Censorship, p.1). They argue that Freedom of
Speech is a basic human right, and that this should not be eroded or compromised through censorship
in a nation which likes to call itself free (Wilson, 2010, p.1). They also argue that the Freedom of

Herod The Great Accomplishments
As a client king under the authority of Rome, Herod the Great lived up to his name in the political and
geographical sense. Though he was undoubtably a cruel and paranoid leader, he was also remarkably
successful in many different ways. If his accomplishments in the world leading up to the first century
were all that were focused on, he assuredly lived up to his title Herod the Great. To the Jews he is best
known for the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem in 20 BC which was considered one of the eight
wonders of the ancient world [10]. Herod rebuilt this temple in Jerusalem in part to gain the support of
the Jews, but also, so that he might have a capital city worthy of his dignity and grandeur [11]. The
temple whose great outer court was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Josephus records that Antipater and his family converted to Judaism during the forced conversions by
the Sadducee influenced Hasmonean leader John Hyrcanus. Hyrcanus threatened that any Idumeaan
who wished to maintain their land would need to be circumcised and enter into the traditions of the
Jews [15]. Therefore, by birth, Herod and his sons were Jews, yet they were resented by most other
Jews because of their Edomite background. Antigonus the Hasmonean referred to Herod as no more
than a private man, and an Idumean, i.e. a half Jew.[16] Herod s reign, along with Philip, Archelaus,
and Antipas, was spent both by infuriating and placating, offending and appeasing the Jews. He built
walls, the temple, and much in the city of Jerusalem to appease the people but at the same time
offended the orthodox Jews who bitterly hated his Greek taste and his transgressions of the Mosaic
law. He had the temple priests sacrifice on behalf of the Roman Government and on the other hand
taxed the people at somewhere between eight point six per cent and ten point seven, an incredibly high
rate for that day

A Study on Conservative Resurgence
Conservative Resurgence (Order #A2065848) For many years the Republican party and its
conservative base was the central point of blame for the economic woes that had occurred in America
during the Great Depression. Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and his liberal Democratic party were
portrayed as the saviors of the United States economy and the only intellectual and political tradition
that remained for America. However, the social excesses, political instability and economic turmoil
that the liberals of the late 1960 s and early 1970 s created, led to a resurgence in conservative
thinking. Americans began to reject the complete dependence on the government, and the inefficiency
and corruption associated with it, in favor of a more independent and politically conservative way of
thinking. As a result, 1980 saw the election of Ronald Reagan, a hard core conservative Republican as
President of the United States. Reagan s victory over then President Jimmy Carter signaled a distinct
resurgence in conservative values and political activity. In the 1950 s, Lionel Trilling, famous literary
critic and writer, stated that in the United States at this time liberalism is not only the dominant but
even the sole intellectual tradition. (McPherson, 2008, p.30) This belief was maintained throughout
the 1960 s and 1970 s within the American intellectual and political community. In addition, the
conservative opposition to the civil rights movement, although for constitutional reasons, had

The Islamic State Of Iraq
The Islamic State has been created in 2003 during the invasion of Iraq by a Jordanian in order to expel
Americans. The movement has been linked to Al Qaeda but has been weaken by the American
offensive. However since 2011 the organization has used the Syrian civil war to regain influence and
territories. In 2013 Al Qaeda rejected the movement because of its violence. They tried to create an
alliance with Al Nosra which refused because of its violence too. The Islamic State has been known
under several names: first Tawhid wal Djihad, Al Qaeda in Iraq, Islamic State of Iraq, Islamic State of
Iraq and the Levant, Islamic State of Iraq and Syria and then Islamic State. But under its different
names, its goal has always been the same: to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The USA has really reconsidered the threat of this group after the kidnapping and execution of two
American journalists and the quick rising tide of the organization. So how the USA is dealing with the
ISIS threat and is its strategy suitable? We may wonder why the Islamic State is difficult to struggle,
what is the American strategy to eradicate this terrorist group and what are the limits of the strategy of
the international coalition led by the USA.
The Islamic State is currently considered as the major threat of the USA according to a recent survey
on American people . But is this group really strong, well equipped and so a threat for the West?
Firstly the Islamic State is the wealthiest terrorist group of the world. At the beginning some Gulf
countries have helped the group but have stopped with the raising of its violence. But now the group is
self financed with racketeering and robbery of conquered territories. For instance the capture of the
city of Mossoul gave a lot of money staying in its banks. But the group is also using the money of
ransoms for hostages and is mainly dealing lots of oil. However this wealth is not the only reason of
its strength. The problem is that we do not know accurately the allies or supporters of the Islamic
State. As a consequence we do not know exactly the men that the organization has in its ranks.

I Had Joined A Bollywood Dance Team Essay
Back in 2013, I had joined a Bollywood Dance team. I had always loved dancing, and the team always
allowed me to show my love and appreciation towards dance and to embrace my Indian culture and
heritage. I was a part of it for two years and met some incredible people. It was safe to say that I made
friends on this team that would last a lifetime. A couple of my best friends from the team, Vishal and
Rajan, had started attending UCR in Fall 2015, and through them, I learned a lot about the Indian
dance teams on campus. They happened to join one their freshmen year too. It was called UCRaas.
They had a memorable freshmen year, competed in competitions across the country, and had
experiences similar to the ones we shared with our old dance team. They were a part of UCRaas even
though it was not a similar dance form to what we had all been a part of. UCRaas was a Raas Garba
team. Raas is a traditional folk dance, originating from the state of Gujarat of western India, that can
be traced back to the time of Lord Krishna and has to do with the religious festival of Navratri, a
Hindu celebration of worshiping the Goddess Durga. There are two forms of Raas. One is called
Garba Raas, which is danced in a large circle continuously, with each step being delivered in a two to
three count rhythm. The second is called Dandiya Raas. This Raas form involves baton like sticks
called dandiyas. It consists of two circles, in which partners dance together in a series of specific
counts.

Serena s Door-Personal Narrative
My eyes are stinging from the bright florescent light hanging from the ceiling, like the feeling of
uneasiness thats been settling in my chest since i woke up on this thin peice of foam. It smells used
and pissy, it reminds me of the yoga matts we used in my middle school gym. If it wasnt for the dead
bolted door and the cold concrete floor i d have thought this small room with no windows would be a
prime location for me and my two younger sisters to play hide and seek. There goes that feeling again
reminding me that this is no game. I hear foot steps aproaching and someone playing with a key in the
door. Serena is the youngest of the 3 of us but it s hard to tell she s only 11 because she s tall and plays

They Say I Say Journal Analysis
In this week s journal we were assigned reading in the They Say, I Say book. The assigned reading
was to teach us how to write papers in an argumentative form, either agreeing with a statement,
disagreeing, or a little of both. As explained in our chapter often writers are afraid to argue a
statement, based on the fact that they feel as if they do not have enough knowledge about the
information. The question to be answered in this journal is, how do I see myself as an arguer? I do see
myself as an arguer. I do not particularly like to argue certain issues. If the issue is something I feel
strongly about, I will argue the facts. I do feel as if I am good at winning an argument. However in
order for me to win an argument, I always make

Executive s Emotional Intelligence, Insight, And...
Executive s emotional intelligence (EI), insight, and authority aptitudes have a clear connection to
their execution. New research demonstrates that an executive s passionate style drives other people s
inclinations and practices (Goleman, Boyatzis, McKee, 2015). Only in recent years has there emerged
a scientific model of the emotional mind that explains how so much of what we do can be emotionally
driven. Individuals can be so reasonable at one moment and so irrational the next. Emotions can be
experienced and deployed intelligently and skillfully or not so intelligent and skillfully (Goleman,
2005). The skill that allows one to understand, implement and use emotions is called emotional
intelligence (Goleman, 2005).
For the most part, incredible leaders know how their leadership style impacts their followers, and this
knowledge makes them great leaders. Genuinely incredible leaders recognize, comprehend and deal
with their feelings, as well as knowing what they can do with individuals in an exceptionally engaging
manner. Motivating and inspiring others is paramount to effective leadership (Kotter, 2012). In
addition to having this enthusiastic insight, it is crucial for leaders to understand the importance of
having compassion, self awareness, and respect to communicating effectively with the individuals that
they lead. Leaders that understand and connect with their employees on an emotional level are seen as
authentic and lead with the heart, these traits are

In the last twenty years orangutans have lost about eighty percent of their homes, and one third of the
orangutans have died during the forest fires according to the Orangutan Conservancy. Everyday the
homes of orangutans are chopped down and destroyed leaving the orangutan homeless. The orangutan

which is used mainly in toiletries and baked goods, we are causing damage to the orangutan s natural

Between 2300 Bce To 476 Bce, Every One Of Those Regions
Between 2300 BCE to 476 BCE, every one of those regions and empires displayed different levels of
brutalities, but brutalities were always evident. Humans will always be brutal in warfare and will try to
fix these brutalities with even more brutal policies and tactics. The nature of brutality is more brutality.
This to be first seen in the Ancient Near East. In the Ancient Near East, their brutalities of warfare are
centered on their beliefs in the supernatural power of the gods. Divination was an integral part of
military planning. Oracles would let them know which military campaigns they should do based on
the displeasures of the gods. The customs would include offerings to the gods to have good relations
and a good campaign. Overall, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Overall, there is a high level of cruelty in battle and would be carried on to captives. Old and Middle
kingdom of Egypt would have extreme cruelty treatment of POWs, took part in martial cannibalism,
and personal revenge is a positive moral consideration. The new kingdom showed a minor shift in
thinking and during this time brutality became more of the exception than the rule. The treatment of
captives would be better since it was more important to integrate into the Egyptian military. The
pharaohs weren t out to exterminate their enemies, but to take advantage and add to their army. In
Egypt brutality is not regulated, but toned down in the new kingdom. In Israel and Judah warfare
would be an integral part for the Jewish to reclaim their homelands. With warfare came several
brutalities that would be illustrated in the book of Deuteronomy and Joshua. In the book of
Deuteronomy, it describes the killings of entire populations in Gad after their capture, plunder the
towns, and took whatever resources they had. This was all done with the support of God. In the book
of Joshua, has the theme of rule and capture. It describes the brutalities that took place in capturing
Jericho. Joshua would commit atrocities that involved exterminating everything in the city by sword.
Both books, highlights the atrocities needed to reclaim their holy land. There is no evidence that there
is any regulation on their warfare. Soon Israel would be taken over by the

Classroom Reflective Essay
As a practicing teaching, it is responsibility to create and maintain a safe and supportive learning
environment for students. Whilst on professional experience at a local school in Cairns, I taught a
series of lessons (artefact 4) for a year 8 Health and Physical Education class. In order to effectively
teach each lesson, I had to manage the classroom activities and challenging behaviours. I used the ten
micro skills for classroom management to not only manage students behaviour but also ensure
inclusive student participation and engagement.
I used different behaviour management and engagement strategies throughout the lessons taught
(artefact 4) to promote student participation (standards 4.1 and 4.3). The 10 micro skills for classroom

The use of the 10 micro skills for classroom management reduced the serious disruptive behaviour
from occurring (Goldman, 2003). The minimisation of misbehaviour increased student participation
(standards 4.1 and 4.3). Having an awareness of the students zone of proximal development assisted in
organising classroom activities specific to the needs of the learners. This supported inclusive student
participation and engagement in classroom activities (standard 4.1). The use of a PowerPoint
presentation resulted in effective organisation of classroom activities and providing clear directions
(standard 4.2). This positive affected the success of classroom activities. According to Rosenshine
(1983), the success of any activity is all in the instructions.
Standard 5: Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning
As a practicing teaching, I had the opportunity to assess students learning and provide them with
feedback. This took place during a series of lessons (artefact 4) I taught to a year 8 Health and
Physical Education class. Through the course each lesson taught and during professional experience, I
formally and informally provided the students with feedback. There were opportunities to use
formative feedback and assessment as well as summative feedback and assessment.

Alexander Hamilton Role Model
Alexander Hamilton was a statesman when he wasn t even a citizen, one of the poorest and modest
founding father, an abolitionist when to be such was almost unheard of outside closed doors, and
revolutionary when once again he was never born nor raised in the colonies. For someone who gets so
little credit we actually owe so much to this one man. This man came to New York City with nothing
but the money raised for him and his dedication. Alexander Hamilton is the only person to be able to
claim that he was a self maker that made a name for himself from nothing in America. Alexander
Hamilton can also be seen as a good role model in many cases for new immigrants having invented

This would not have been a problem if not for the fact she was already married and had a child. This

another she never did marry James Hamilton who left his family once it became obvious that the sugar

mother raised him and actually owned a business until her death to disease in February 19th, 1768.
After that he began to work for his mothers landlord and soon worked in the slave trade. After so long
however despair struck again in the form of a hurricane. This however did not deter Hamilton and he
wrote everything he saw. This later got published and after some people saw what he wrote they raised
money for him to go to America because they believed he could have done more. Hamilton rarely
speaks of his old life and when he does its short and to the point thus leading to the thought that he
was ashamed of his illigitmacy and/or the pain of the thoughts of his old life. This man was already

  • 2. Wrinkle In Time In the book A Wrinkle in Time, written by Madeleine L Engle, a young girl goes on an adventure with her little brother, her friend, and three magical creatures. The science fiction novel focuses on Meg Murry, an awkward and impatient high school student, who sets off on an adventure to rescue her missing father from a giant disembodied brain named IT. She is accompanied by her extraordinary younger brother Charles Wallace, Calvin O Keefe, a popular and athletic boy that goes to her school, and three celestial beings named Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which. Three important elements of the story are the characterization, setting, and theme. First, one of Calvin s characteristics that is shown throughout the story is his protectiveness ... This shows how important love is in the story, it is what Meg, the protagonist, has that IT, the antagonist, doesn t. And it is that love that allows her to defeat IT and save Charles Wallace. The gentle words, the feeling that this beast would be able to love her no matter what she said or did, lapped Meg in warmth and peace. She felt a delicate touch of tentacle to her cheek, as tender as her mother s kiss. (183) This shows that, no matter what Meg does, the beast, who Meg calls Aunt Beast, will love her. This also shows the importance of unconditional love and loving despite ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Invocation of Moral Codes in Richard III Essay Shakespeare s Richard III is from the outset a very moral play. It opens with an introduction to the character of Richard in his Now is the winter... speech. In this we are first introduced to the idea of a man becoming evil from his own free will, excused (by him) on the grounds of his inability to fit in with the physical ideals of society, saying, And therefore, since I cannot prove a lover... I am determined to prove a villain. Although we are not, at this point, given a definite indication of Shakespeare s opinion on this moral position, it is the opening for a discussion on what is morally acceptable, which is continued quite decisively throughout the play. The character of Richard is the ideal tool for this purpose. He is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Buckingham indeed becomes resigned to his impending doom, saying, as he is lead off to the block, Come, sirs, convey me to the block of shame. /Wrong hath but wrong, and blame the due of blame. This calmness and resignation upon the point of his death show that Buckingham at least is not so caught up in immorality as to take his death as other than just punishment for his crimes. Hastings, too, goes quietly to the block, regretting his ignoble triumphing over his slain enemies, Lords Rivers, Grey and Vaughan. Of these three, Vaughan is silent, Grey believes his death to be in retribution For standing by when Richard stabbed her [Margaret s] son , and Rivers prays for my sister and her princely sons, Be satisfied, dear God, with our true bloods...Which, as thou knowest, unjustly must be spilt. From these, we see both a recognition of some past misdeed for which they are being punished, and a touching request that they may be the sacrifice to keep the grieving queen and the heir safe. This last minute resignation and remembrance of others who may be in danger indicates a last ditch courage, and an acceptance of what the world s moral judgement (spoken through Margaret) would be. Retribution is a key issue throughout the play. All those who commit crimes are eventually punished, and Richard can be seen as the tool of retribution, as it is through his scheming ... • 4. Alien Of The Deep Sea The documentary Alien of the Deep Sea presented us with six different experiments aimed at studying different aspects of octopuses intelligence. I will focus on just one of those experiments and attempt to apply Jackendoff s First Fundamental Argument which argues that a language user s mind can be viewed as an internal computational system containing unconscious set of rules. Camouflage being one of the most impressive aspects of octopuses intelligence, scientists under the direction of Antonio P. Cribeiro, conducted an exercise designed to see to what extent the skin of octopuses was capable to adapt to its surroundings. The experiment was divided into three parts: First, a few octopuses were introduced to a closed glass box (in full view of potential predators) containing items such as rocks, sand, and algae which are found in their natural environments. Unsurprisingly, this resulted in the octopuses adapting effortlessly to their surroundings. Then, the items inside the glass box were replaced by a piece of canvas printed with a geometric pattern, something that an octopus would never encounter in its natural habitat. The colors of the canvas were not random, however, but corresponded to the pigmentation abilities of octopuses. Once again, the octopuses easily completed the task. Finally, the geometric ... It turns out, an octopus has its own way of dealing with the variety present in its environment, as long as it fits in with its pigmentation abilities, the same way we have ways to deal with the expressive variety of language in our own environment thanks to our mind s capacity to recognize ... • 5. A Brief Note On The Cisco Unified Computing System Essay 1.1.3 Case Study 3 [CFA (Country Fire Authority) Agile Responsive Technology] This Australian organization also deployed the Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS), VMware, and NetApp to scale Infrastructure in their data center. [10] In addition to this, Cisco Nexus 1000v series switch was added to provide visibility of virtual machines at the virtual access layer. This helped to improve the virtualization intelligence of the network. This platform helped to improve scalability, which was the primary necessity of the organization. [10] The Cisco UCS manager at the organization is mostly pleased because of the single pane where you can access the servers and therefore ease manageability. Virtualization now seems an inevitable move for organizations that want to remain at top notch. With its great benefits it is unavoidable. It is because of this that I focus my project on Layer 2 domain expansion by VXLAN Overlay Technology. 1.2 VXLAN [Overlay Technology] The case studies are based on VXLAN basic idea and its benefits. Originally VXLAN had been invented for the big benefit where in VLAN, user cannot have more than thousand VLANs in network per device but now, we can get 16 million VXLAN configuration possible on single virtual switch environment using combined approach of Cisco and VMware products. Mothers with psychosis may hear voices, have hallucinations or delusions. The Journal of Behavioral Health Services Research have determined that Postpartum women with obsessional thoughts have been noted to have aggressive obsessions to harm their infants (Coates, 2004). Osvaldo Mejia, who had a personal experience with this illness involving his wife, explains his encounter: She complained that she was tired but could not sleep and ate little. She told him she was scared but could not explain why (Black, 2013). Soon after, Mejia realized that his wife must have been suffering from postpartum psychosis when he found his nine month old baby boy stabbed in his crib. The total U.S. budget deficit for this year is estimated to be $514 billion, compared to $1.4 trillion in 2009 (The Budget and Economic Outlook: 2014 to 2024, 2014). I believe this plan has had ample amount of research conducted and I believe this is economically sound and achievable. I think expanding on higher quality education earlier in life will be extremely beneficial to the coming generations. This will give the United States an advantage in the coming years because our younger generations will be more intelligent with the hopes of continuing advanced education. 4. There are a number of both long and short term effects that a large budget deficit/debt can have on an economy. First, there will be increased borrowing, meaning the government will need to borrow from the private sector (Pettinger, 2014). Second, there will be higher debt interests payments, meaning selling bonds will increase the national debt, leaving future generations to have to pay higher taxes (Pettinger, 2014). This shows civilization by explaining how each member in a society is watched after and taken care of. Religion also must be taken seriously, and there must be a majority of one religion in a society, or else the culture is too diverse. Those who are for media censorship are mostly conservatives who feel that violence and vulgarity should not be on the television because a child is likely to accidently or even purposely click over to that channel. Children s critical thinking skills are not fully developed and they cannot comprehend information the way that adults do. Essentially, they feel that media censorship is essential in society to protect children from lost moral values (Arguments Favoring, 2009, p.1). On the other side of the debate, those against censorship of television feel that it is a violation of the Freedom of Speech which is the first amendment of the United States Constitution (Anti Censorship, p.1). They argue that Freedom of Speech is a basic human right, and that this should not be eroded or compromised through censorship in a nation which likes to call itself free (Wilson, 2010, p.1). They also argue that the Freedom of Speech was not put into place to protect only the speech that the majority of people agreed with, rather it was put into place to protect the speech and opinions of all Americans (Anti Censorship, p.2). • 19. Herod The Great Accomplishments As a client king under the authority of Rome, Herod the Great lived up to his name in the political and geographical sense. Though he was undoubtably a cruel and paranoid leader, he was also remarkably successful in many different ways. If his accomplishments in the world leading up to the first century were all that were focused on, he assuredly lived up to his title Herod the Great. To the Jews he is best known for the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem in 20 BC which was considered one of the eight wonders of the ancient world [10]. Herod rebuilt this temple in Jerusalem in part to gain the support of the Jews, but also, so that he might have a capital city worthy of his dignity and grandeur [11]. The temple whose great outer court was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Josephus records that Antipater and his family converted to Judaism during the forced conversions by the Sadducee influenced Hasmonean leader John Hyrcanus. Hyrcanus threatened that any Idumeaan who wished to maintain their land would need to be circumcised and enter into the traditions of the Jews [15]. Therefore, by birth, Herod and his sons were Jews, yet they were resented by most other Jews because of their Edomite background. Antigonus the Hasmonean referred to Herod as no more than a private man, and an Idumean, i.e. a half Jew.[16] Herod s reign, along with Philip, Archelaus, and Antipas, was spent both by infuriating and placating, offending and appeasing the Jews. He built walls, the temple, and much in the city of Jerusalem to appease the people but at the same time offended the orthodox Jews who bitterly hated his Greek taste and his transgressions of the Mosaic law. He had the temple priests sacrifice on behalf of the Roman Government and on the other hand taxed the people at somewhere between eight point six per cent and ten point seven, an incredibly high rate for that day ... • 20. A Study on Conservative Resurgence Conservative Resurgence (Order #A2065848) For many years the Republican party and its conservative base was the central point of blame for the economic woes that had occurred in America during the Great Depression. Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and his liberal Democratic party were portrayed as the saviors of the United States economy and the only intellectual and political tradition that remained for America. However, the social excesses, political instability and economic turmoil that the liberals of the late 1960 s and early 1970 s created, led to a resurgence in conservative thinking. Americans began to reject the complete dependence on the government, and the inefficiency and corruption associated with it, in favor of a more independent and politically conservative way of thinking. As a result, 1980 saw the election of Ronald Reagan, a hard core conservative Republican as President of the United States. Reagan s victory over then President Jimmy Carter signaled a distinct resurgence in conservative values and political activity. In the 1950 s, Lionel Trilling, famous literary critic and writer, stated that in the United States at this time liberalism is not only the dominant but even the sole intellectual tradition. (McPherson, 2008, p.30) This belief was maintained throughout the 1960 s and 1970 s within the American intellectual and political community. In addition, the conservative opposition to the civil rights movement, although for constitutional reasons, had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The USA has really reconsidered the threat of this group after the kidnapping and execution of two American journalists and the quick rising tide of the organization. So how the USA is dealing with the ISIS threat and is its strategy suitable? We may wonder why the Islamic State is difficult to struggle, what is the American strategy to eradicate this terrorist group and what are the limits of the strategy of the international coalition led by the USA. The Islamic State is currently considered as the major threat of the USA according to a recent survey on American people . But is this group really strong, well equipped and so a threat for the West? Firstly the Islamic State is the wealthiest terrorist group of the world. At the beginning some Gulf countries have helped the group but have stopped with the raising of its violence. But now the group is self financed with racketeering and robbery of conquered territories. For instance the capture of the city of Mossoul gave a lot of money staying in its banks. But the group is also using the money of ransoms for hostages and is mainly dealing lots of oil. However this wealth is not the only reason of its strength. The problem is that we do not know accurately the allies or supporters of the Islamic State. As a consequence we do not know exactly the men that the organization has in its ranks. ... I had always loved dancing, and the team always allowed me to show my love and appreciation towards dance and to embrace my Indian culture and heritage. I was a part of it for two years and met some incredible people. It was safe to say that I made friends on this team that would last a lifetime. A couple of my best friends from the team, Vishal and Rajan, had started attending UCR in Fall 2015, and through them, I learned a lot about the Indian dance teams on campus. They happened to join one their freshmen year too. It was called UCRaas. They had a memorable freshmen year, competed in competitions across the country, and had experiences similar to the ones we shared with our old dance team. They were a part of UCRaas even though it was not a similar dance form to what we had all been a part of. UCRaas was a Raas Garba team. Raas is a traditional folk dance, originating from the state of Gujarat of western India, that can be traced back to the time of Lord Krishna and has to do with the religious festival of Navratri, a Hindu celebration of worshiping the Goddess Durga. There are two forms of Raas. One is called Garba Raas, which is danced in a large circle continuously, with each step being delivered in a two to three count rhythm. The second is called Dandiya Raas. This Raas form involves baton like sticks called dandiyas. It consists of two circles, in which partners dance together in a series of specific counts. ... The assigned reading was to teach us how to write papers in an argumentative form, either agreeing with a statement, disagreeing, or a little of both. As explained in our chapter often writers are afraid to argue a statement, based on the fact that they feel as if they do not have enough knowledge about the information. The question to be answered in this journal is, how do I see myself as an arguer? I do see myself as an arguer. I do not particularly like to argue certain issues. New research demonstrates that an executive s passionate style drives other people s inclinations and practices (Goleman, Boyatzis, McKee, 2015). Only in recent years has there emerged a scientific model of the emotional mind that explains how so much of what we do can be emotionally driven. Individuals can be so reasonable at one moment and so irrational the next. Emotions can be experienced and deployed intelligently and skillfully or not so intelligent and skillfully (Goleman, 2005). The skill that allows one to understand, implement and use emotions is called emotional intelligence (Goleman, 2005). For the most part, incredible leaders know how their leadership style impacts their followers, and this knowledge makes them great leaders. Genuinely incredible leaders recognize, comprehend and deal with their feelings, as well as knowing what they can do with individuals in an exceptionally engaging manner. Motivating and inspiring others is paramount to effective leadership (Kotter, 2012). In addition to having this enthusiastic insight, it is crucial for leaders to understand the importance of having compassion, self awareness, and respect to communicating effectively with the individuals that they lead.
