Black Men And Public Space Essay
There have been many stories about discrimination. It has affected people of color. Those stories
explained how bad it can be for outsiders. Stories like that have had a big impact on society. Two
stories that are an example of that are Black Men and Public Space by Brent Staples and The F Word
by Firoozeh Dumas. The stories, Black Men and Public Space and The F Word are similar because
both characters were discriminated against themselves, were not the only ones harassed, and each
went through a tough moment. One of the ways the two essays are similar is because both characters
were discriminated against themselves. For example, In Black men and Public Space Staples was
discriminated against for his skin color. He lived in a part of Chicago where it was mostly white
American people. Sometimes people would not look his way and ignored him because they thought he
was up to no good. The reason for that was because white people did not want to associate with a
black man. Staples was also discriminated because of the way he walked at night. In the essay, an
example of that was when Staples explained that he was walking behind a woman. The woman turned
around and saw him. The woman thought he was a mugger because Staples was black. In his own
words, Staples described After a few more quick glimpses; she picked up her pace was soon running
in earnest, within seconds she disappeared into a cross street (pg195). That was the kind of
discriminations he had

The Discover of Biotin or Vitamin H Essay
Biotin has been discovered in many similar ways which is in fact the reason as to why no one person
can take the full accreditation to its discovery. Biotin is occasionally referred to as Vitamin H or
vitamin B7 (Challem, 2008) , but it was not fully perceived until the 1900s. W. Bateman was a
primary researcher in the discovery of the vitamin and made the most notable contributions to the
findings of biotin. An additional discoverer was a scientist by the name of Fitz Kogl and Paul Gyrory.
The two of them came together and created the name biotin.
The obvious primary sources of biotin in the human diet are meats, such as the kidneys and liver.
Additional sources are cheese, mushrooms, egg yolks, oats, soy, buts, milk and wheat. Biotin ... Show

The recommended amount of of biotin is 30 mcg a day. Biotin is one of the safest supplements and
has even been given to people in doses of 200 mg. The adequate amounts for digestion from different
ages vary. Infants aging from age 0 to twelve months are recommended to take only 7 micro grams
daily. Children from the ages of one to three years, take eight micro grams. Children from the ages of
four to eight are recommended to take twelve micro grams, children between the ages of nine to
thirteen can take twenty micro grams daily, teenagers aging from fourteen to eight are instructed to
take twenty five micro grams, adults over the age of eighteen and women who are pregnant are
advised to take thirty micro grams a day and women who are breast feeding are instructed to take
thirty five micro grams of biotin daily.
Although Biotin is a water soluble vitamin that is a vital component of the four primary carboxylase
enzymes that scientist see in humans. In Japan there was a formula that did not contain sufficient
amounts of biotin for infants. From seeing this, researchers then decided to take their study and
practice on mice and see how they react to the formula that showed that the infants were lacking biotin
from this ketogenic formula. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of the
ketogenic diet on biotin status in mice. Methods: Male mice (N = 32) were divided into the following
groups: control diet group, biotin deficient (BD) diet

Juvenile Court Diversion Meeting Reflection
As I mentioned in my reflection last week, I attended a Juvenile Court Diversion meeting on
Thursday. Four trained volunteers from the Dover community make up the Diversion Committee . The
committee members meet with first time offenders of non violent crimes who under the age of 18 who
live in Dover. After asking the offender to describe what they did and to take responsibility for their
actions, the committee talks privately about how to best hold this individual accountable. After
coming to an agreement, the offender and the committee members form a contract that outlines tasks
and/or expectations for the offender to meet. The creator of this program and director for the Dover

Negligence Cases And Its Effects On The Judicial System
Negligence cases and their analyses have dominated our judicial system from its very inception. This
can be attributed to the human need to find fault and administer blame for wrong doings and the mere
fact that committing negligence is so simple one may not even realize that it is being committed until
one is served with court documents. For example, pretend your home has a very steep step leading to
the front door. You are aware of this after all, you live there but you want to ensure the safety of all
visitors to your home. Suppose each day you place a sign by the driveway that states, Caution! Beware
of steep step; however, one day you decide to take a vacation and decide that is unnecessary to put the
sign out for the duration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Could the incident have been reasonably foreseen and could the presence of an employee have helped
mitigate damages?
On June 20, 1943, Anna C was chartered from its owner, Conners Marine Company, to the
Pennsylvania Railroad Company at a stated hire per diem. On January 4, 1944, around 2:15 PM, a
negligent accident occurred which resulted in the sinking of the Anna C and all of her cargo being
destroyed. The cargo aboard the Anna C flour was the property of the United States. At the time of
year the accident occurred, daylight hours were shorter than normal and the weather conditions were
not favorable (UNITED STATES et al. v. CARROLL TOWING CO., Inc., et al., 1947).
The negligence of the accident comes from a few different sources. Since the harbor conditions were
uneasy and busy, the owner of the barge should have had a captain on board at the very least during
daylight hours. The night before, the bargee left the Anna C at 5 PM and was still not present at the
time of the sinking at 2:15 PM the following day. During this 21 hour gap, no bargee was on board
when he should have been. Another negligent act was that the captain of the tug Carroll instructed the
deckhand and harbormaster to inspect the lines on the tiers holding the barges to the Public Pier and
Pier 52, including the Anna C. Since the harbormaster was employed by Grace Line, some fault lies
with that company as well. Grace Line s failure to add

Abstract Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) introduce a new way to interact with the physical
environment. The security in WSNs became an attractive area of research. WSNs are susceptible to a
wide range of malicious attacks. At present ECC is considered for secure communications, which is
having good potential for WSN security due to its smaller key size and its high strength of security.
Unfortunately, the execution time of ECC is more which is not suitable for more number of
applications. A number of other security mechanisms have been proposed for sensor networks to
provide data confidentiality, namely Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) and Data Encryption
Standard (DES). In this paper, we propose an algorithm, which is compared and analyzed with the
existing ECC and AES to provide better security with authenticated sensor nodes. The authentication
is done with a secret code. The proposed algorithm will ensure the secure communication with
authenticated devices. The analysis results shows that the scheme works better than the common
existent schemes with better utilization of available memory.

Bolshevik And Menshevik Party Essay
Angered by the current status of the political system, the working class in early 20th century Russia
was ready to fight for a change. The Bolshevik party, a branch of the Russian Social Democratic
Worker s Party (RSDWP) led by Vladimir I. Lenin, rose to power through a series of revolutions,
fighting for a societal evolution that would lead a once capitalist Russia into a communistic political
powerhouse. Two parties represented the left wing of the RDSWP, both wanting similar changes. Both
the Menshevik and Bolshevik parties desired a socialist society, though their approaches to change the
capitalistic society differed. The Menshevik party believed in a wide appeal; they thought that their
strength was in their numbers. Contrarily, the Bolsheviks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By World War 1, the Bolshevik party was the only political party in Russia to fight vocally to end the
war, insisting that it was dividing the working class and leading them to death. Due to this
vocalization, the leaders of the movement were arrested; Lenin had escaped from the arrests and
moved to Switzerland, leaving behind a small core group who supported the movement. On April 4,
1917, Lenin returned to Russia to give his April Thesis to Social Democratic Parties. He pushed a new
program, stating that it was time to start a socialist society before a bourgeois government was
permanent. Moreover, he established a tactical program to stir a revolution for a proletariat. Their
slogan, Peace, Land and Bread, highlighted the three areas the party believed were necessary for
success, of which to current government was failing to excel at. Particularly, the provisional
government lacked an agrarian program, left urban populations starving to help the war, and they,
according to Lenin, were in need of a new offensive. Lenin emphasized most that all power should be
left with the soviets. As a result, on October 24 25, 1917, Lenin and the Bolshevik party led Russian
workers and peasants to overthrow the Provisional government and set up a soviet government. The
revolution resulted in peace on all fronts, and enabled the party to take over the

Examples Of Child Care Observation
Step 1: Participant.
The child I chose to observe was a brown hair, Hispanic 15 month old girl. The reason I chose to
observe her is because I have seen her at the daycare before and she is always so happy, and has such
a fun personality. When I began to observe her she was just getting to the center, and her parents just
dropped her off.
Step 2: Consent. You need to insure an adult responsible for the child has given you permission to
observe the child.
I had to get consent from the director of Oakwood Methodist Daycare, as well as the parent. I briefly
described to both the director and the parent what my paper was going to be about, and asked if it
would be okay if I observed the little girl in the infant room. The director had no problem with it. The
mother also agreed to it, but she did ask to obtain a copy of the paper before submitting it just so she
could read it, and make sure everything looked good.
Step 3: Procedure.
The place of observation took place at my work, before I clocked in for the day. I work at Oakwood
Methodist Preschool/Daycare. I went in to the daycare at about 9:00, which is just free play/ breakfast
time in the infant room. The infant room I observed in was a little different than the CDRC, because
the infant room is from 7 weeks old to 18 months old. There was not really a place for me to be ...

Reasons of Conspiracy Essays
Reasons of Conspiracy People come up with crazy ideas all the time, many of which are torn apart by
scientific evidence. However, some ideas are crafted so precisely and detailed; they are accepted as
fact by millions of people. These alternatives to accepted history are known as Conspiracy Theories,
and the people who create them are of a special breed. It is difficult to imagine having the time and
passion to craft an alternative reason behind many of the world s events and tragedies, but these
people are born to do so. There is a specific recipe for such a person, a carefully crafted powerful
concoction that breeds the hatred for government and the quest for the truth . Such people have been

Before the discussion if furthered, it is important to lay down the basics of who really is a conspiracy
theorist. By Conspiracy Theorist , it is meant to reference a person who has spent at least ten years of
their life to the ideas which counter those of larger accepted organizations (ex: Government). These
persons must have published at least two books about their topics and must have some sort of mass
following and audience. According to PBS, a Conspiracy Theorist is: someone who postulates on the
existence of secret agreements between two or more people or government to perform unlawful acts.
(PBS: Strange Days) that definition is what will be used in conjunction with the stated qualifications
above for each person discussed in this paper. Due to the limited resources and time constraints I
cannot claim that the stated characteristics are the only factors of a conspiracy theorists. There are
many factors that influence one to become interested in devoting ones life to counter history. It is
possible to deeply research the personal background of a large number of conspiracy theorists, but due
to time and general interest, I will not be completing such a task. The ones who are discussed are those
who had readily available information/ responded to the questionnaire that was sent (a total of three
people where sent the questionnaire, two responded). There are four specific factors that are believed

The Importance Of Operant Conditioning
Operant Conditioning Within the early 19th Century, Edward Throne like conducted experiments on
dogs and cats to determine the way these animals behave under certain conditions. These studies were
conducted through replicating and standardizing the circumstances that the animals were in through a
controlled environment. As such, this model demonstrated that animals had the nature to learn when
they were presented with certain consequences. In 1938, Burrhus Friederich (B. F.) developed the core
idea of the Operant Conditioning Skinner, which claims that operant conditioning, was brought about
by the response from the operant under threat (Sakagami, Lattal, 2016). Some factors were involved in
the increase of the operant conditioning especially when Edward Thorndike was examining the
behavior of cats and rats. It was necessary to consider the problem solving abilities of these animals
within puzzle boxes that would otherwise lead the animals in a state of constraint. Moreover, there
was a need to understand the relationship exhibited between the appropriate reaction to the individual
situation and the associated strengths to the same. Moreover, other factors such as the ability of the
animals to learn under the conditions presented as was later proven by Skinner.
The core principles that are important in understanding the operant conditioning and how it may result
in the retention offer includes the operant variability where the individual may experience emitted

Young Goodman Brown, The Scarlett Letter, And The House Of...
Young Goodman Brown: Analysis of his faith
Personal experience plays a vital role when authors decide on the certain topics for their stories. A
factor like religion may determine an author s writing style. For example, an author who may have had
a Christian upbringing may write about faith, hell, or salvation; in contrast, one who had a negative
experience with religion as a child, may hint at departing from their family and finding one s own
religion. A well known author from the 1800s, Nathaniel Hawthorne, implements his religious
upbringing in his stories, Young Goodman Brown , The Scarlett Letter , and The House of Seven
Gables. The use of certain thematic elements in Young Goodman Brown help readers understand how
the main character lost his faith and became bitter towards religious people.
In the year 1804, Nathaniel Hawthorne was born to Massachusetts Bay colonists; Nathaniel Hathorne
and Elizabeth Clarke Manning in Salem, Massachusetts. Hawthorne s great grandfather, John
Hathorne, had the role of judging during the Salem Witch Trials in 1692 (Means). ... Show more

Faith is also young like her husband. Faith is portrayed as a sweet, pure hearted, innocent woman who
represented Goodman Brown s belief. Her child like innocence is represented with pink ribbons in her
hair throughout the story. Due to the couple being so young and newlyweds, goodman brown was not
strong in his faith and therefore dependent on Faith, his wife s faith to keep them both accountable
Thus, resulting in his own relationship and faith tested (Boonyaprasop 45). When heading into the
forest for his exhibition, Goodman Brown was hesitant leaving his wife alone in Salem. In contrast,
Faith, his wife, begged him not to go for he may lose his faith. Although Faith was not fully on board
with Goodman Brown leaving, she remains whole and hopes he finds the meaning of the exhibition

Culture Matters: The Impacts of Asian Culture on Mental Health and the Patient Practitioner
Relationship Mental health illnesses affect everyone. It is highly prevalent affecting people of all ages,
gender, cultures, and social groups. Attitudes towards mental health illnesses vary among individuals
and often are highly influenced by the various cultures that the individuals identify with. Culture as a
social concept can be defined as a set of norms, values, behaviours, and beliefs that are common and
shared amongst a group of individuals (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 1999).
Culture can be applicable to groups like Asians and Americans but also to groups of shared norms,
beliefs, and values established within professions such as the culture of patients and practitioners.
Culture provides these groups with structure and context to understanding their society and the world
as a whole. Culture influence a wide range of aspects of mental health, including how mental health is
perceived by the patient, how the patient will experience mental health stigma, and how they cope
with symptoms of mental health illness. Additionally, these cultural influences impact the relationship
between the patient and the practitioner in a number of ways.

Essay on Public Service Broadcasting Within The Plural...
Introduction
British Broadcasting Corporation [BBC] has played its role as a Public Service Broadcasting [PSB] in
England since 1926. It was set up on Baron Reith s hands as an educative media building public s
character by establishing and socializing cultural value to the society via its programs. Hitherto, BBC
s work focuses on the cultural connection among the society and plays a role as its guardian rather
than pays attention to the diversity among them (Curran Seaton, 2003). However, some critiques about
its existence started raising in the end of 1980s as the appearance of the Sky Media commercial
satellite television company which gave larger opportunity for public to choose what they want to see.

Therefore, its operation focuses more on fostering the civilization and democracy rather than to gain
revenue. Besides, it also must be willing for a limited autonomy in its operation since the government
has the authority to control its working mechanism.
The core objection of this form of broadcasting is to serve public by providing quality information and
facilitating public discourse to enforce democracy and advance civilization. In term of quality
information, PSB plays a role as socio cultural agent whose duty is to perpetuate the high culture and
raise public awareness as an united national entity. Furthermore, in its role as a discursive arena, PSB
exists as a practice of Habermas idea of public sphere where public as a political community exercise
their freedom of assembly and freedom of information to solve their social problem as well as to reach
an agreement about the common good which is expected to affect the policy in a society (Hauser,
1998).
To guarantee that this democratic function works well, PSB must guarantee that its operation is
impartially detached from either state or market interest. In this case, BBC is a good example.
Since it s mobilization from private company to public corporation, BBC operates as a form of
quangos (Butsch, 2007) which work as an independent organisation playing a governmental role.
Since 1946, its operational fund comes from the

Epic of Beowulf Essay
Alliteration in Beowulf
The diction of the Old English poem Beowulf is distinguished primarily by its heavy use of
allliteration, or the repetition of the initial sounds of words.
In the original manuscript version of the poem, alliteration is employed in almost every line (or two
half lines); in modern translations of the poem this is not so. Beowulf uses alliteration [my italics] and
accent to achieve the poetic effect which Modern English poetry achieves through the use of poetic
feet, each having the same number of syllables and the same pattern of accent (Wilkie 1271). In lines
4 and 5 of the poem we find:
Oft Scyld Scefing sceapena preatum
monegum ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such stressed alliterative binding together created hundreds of pairs that are used over and over, such
as halig/heofon holy/heaven, dryhten/dugud lord/troop, fyren/feond sin/enemy. The pairs need not be
complementary, but rather can be contrastive, like eadig/earm happy/wretched and wearm/winter
warm/winter. These dictional contrasts provide the listener additional pleasure by surprising his
expectations. The alliteration also includes stressed vowels (Tharaud 34).
Prof. Magoun, in examining the poem, considers it probable that a high percentage of the language in
Beowulf is formulas or phrases repeated from a common bank of phraseology from which all poets
drew their language (88 89). From this common bank the poets drew out what they need based on the
requirements of alliteration. In his essay The Making of an Anglo Saxon Poem, Robert P. Creed agrees
that alliteration was the poet s basis for making his choice of words:
I shall therefore take only a very small portion of Beowulf, eight verses (four lines), and attempt, by
means of references to similar verses and lines in the rest of the poem and in other surviving Anglo
Saxon poems, to illustrate the thesis that the making of any Anglo Saxon poem was a process of
choosing rapidly and largely on the basis of alliterative [italics mine] needs not between individual
words but between formulas (142).
The alliteration in the poem was so

The Relationship between Doctor and Patient Should be...
Majoring in medicine is one of the most intellectually challenging things that I ve ever been a part of.
When faced with task to do a research paper depicting a problem in your major, well because the
medical field is so broad so I found a topic that is almost never talked about. Love and Medicine , I
chose this topic because it deals with physicians being more than friendly with their patients as
unethical as this may seem it happens almost. The relationship between a patient and a doctor should
be extremely platonic; doctors should always know his or her boundaries, display a level of
professionalism, and show as much humility in their job as possible. Physicians should always know
their boundaries when it comes to patients. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whether it is in the office or on social networks a physician is always held up to a higher standard just
because of who they are. Dr. Jain of NEJM writes that, In confirming this patient as my friend on
Facebook, I was merging my professional and personal lives. From my Facebook page, Ms. Baxter
could identify and reach anyone in my network of friends, view an extensive collection of personal
photographs, read my personal blog, and review notations that others had left on my wall. The anxiety
I felt about crossing boundaries is an old problem in clinical medicine, but it has taken a different
shape as it has migrated to this new medium. Once a physician has crossed that line of professionalism
has been crossed and a patient decides to report their physician could risk losing just about everything.
Such as damage to his or her practice, loss of public trust, and often loss of hospital and health care
payment plan affiliations.
In the field of Medicine it is expected of physicians to always show a certain level of humility on the
job. It is under no circumstances may a physician place his or her own financial interests above the
welfare of his or her patients. Taking advantage of information gained by means of patient physician
relationship for personal gain. For instance, if a patient decides to share a personal story with their

Pros And Cons Of The Georgia Colony
Was the Georgia colony a success or failure? While the colony of Georgia was successful in defense
however; charity and economy were a disappointment. In 1732 King George 2 granted a charter by
giving named trustees permission to establish the Georgia Colony. Until 1752 the Georgia Colony had
seen both dark and light moments; some of which include the construction of the settlement, the
establishment of Fort Frederica, as well as declaring war on Spain. The corporation was made to be a
charitable body, so none of the trustees could receive or buy land of their own. Also Because of the
small amount of land everyone on the new settlement received there were several complaints about
going into poverty and not having enough slaves or workers to help establish the colony. James
Oglethorpe and 20 other trustees finally decided that they would do whatever it took to make the
colony a utopian city.
Because Georgia had such a great defense system; it won the battle of bloody marsh; and defeated the
Spanish. This was accomplished by raising the first alarm at fort William, evidence for this is found in
document D, The first alarm was raised by the garrison at Fort William, which successfully kept
several Spanish galleons from entering the inland waterway (Colonial Coastal Fortifications
Document D). At St. Simon s island Oglethorpe led the battle and ultimately conquered the Spanish
even after the Spanish launched a massive assault on Garrison; Georgia held firm and the Spanish

The Effects of Physical and Verbal Abuse on Children
One of the rising issues among children in our society today is the verbal and physical abuse they are
receiving from their parents and guardians. This is creating unhealthy families and dysfunctional
environments where children are the victims of these abusive homes. Another cause of concern is the
psychological and emotional detachment abusive children have to endure.
These affects occur when they have a history of being neglected or physically abused. A
UNICEF on child wellbeing reported that the United States and the United Kingdom are ranked
lowest among industrial nations with respect to child well being. They also found that it s more
common for child abuse to occur in single parent families than in families where ... Show more

Which keeps them from ever achieving their intellectual potential. Another psychological concern is
the physical stress. If the child is continually exposed to multiple violent and trauma acts, they will be
physically stressed out. When the child experiences this act over and over again, there are permanent
psychological changes. A child having over reactions to things that remind them of the original event
can create difficulty in concentration and attention. There are emotional effects such as isolation and
inability to trust other peers. This essentially can translate into low self esteem and depression. In one
long term study, as many as 80 percent of young adults who had been abused met the diagnostic
criteria for at least one psychiatric disorder at age 21. These young adults exhibited many problems,
including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and suicide attempts ( Silverman, Reinherz Giaconia,
1996). NSCAW found that children who were placed out of home care due to abuse or neglect were
scored lower on measures of cognitive capacity, language development, and academic achievement. In
other words, they experienced difficulties with their academics being neglected or abused by parents
or relatives. Other factors related to child abuse is shyness. More abused children will tend to shy
away from meeting new people. This creates antisocial traits as they grow up. Raised under these
conditions leads

operating as a separate company. However, in 1965, J.H. Dawson became president and amalgamated
the four companies into the Dawson Lumber Company. The company had acquired seven more
lumber yards north and west of Cornwall, Ontario but further growth was limited by J.H. Dawson s
belief that growth should only be financed by internally generated funds. For over one hundred years,

Financial Analysis:
Strictly speaking, at present the Dawson Lumber Company is being financed by a bank loan. The
company s equity structure constitutes common stock capital amounting to $4.3 million and the
accumulated earnings. Presently, the company s financing needs are met through two types of bank
loans which include a working capital loan obtained specifically to meet the working capital
requirements and the present long term loan amounting to 4.2 million. Both the loans are obtained
from National bank of Canada (NBC). The NBC took accounts receivable and inventory as collateral
and as a condition of the loan against the charge on the borrowed amount for which Dawson
undertook to provide quarterly financial statements and monthly reports of inventory, sales and
receivables.
Now as far as the company s cash flow is concerned, the company has been suffered with very weak
cash flows because inventory and receivables have increased which result in negative cash flows and
due to increased in accounts payable resulting in positive cash flow thus overall cash generated from
operations remain intact. However as mentioned above it is operational inefficiency due to delay in
collection from customers resulting in delay in payments to creditor. The current ratio is at satisfactory
level.
If we talk about the company s

Narrative Essay On Substance Abuse
I m standing on the lawn of this tacky cottage at Wasagaming, watering the grass for Valdeen, Dad s
latest girlfriend, when who should walk up the driveway all red and perspiring with a backpack sliding
off his shoulder but Martin Faykes.
Hi Elizabeth, he says, just like he s walked over from a couple of blocks away to see me. He then falls
into the chartreuse lawn cart and gasps, Get me a drink.
My gawd, says Valdeen when I go into the kitchen, what a surprise. Why didn t you tell me you d
invited him?
I didn t, I reply, and I leave with Marty s Coke.
Marty is the only boyfriend I ve ever had. I started going out with him because he asked me. I figured,

I don t mind kissing Marty. He has very convincing lips.
Mom says I should hang onto him, but then she makes bizarre statements like: Friendship is more

Mom likes Marty. Dad, if he has an opinion, keeps it to himself and mostly ignores him.
So, what do you think of my earring? says Marty, as I hand him the Coke.

Summary of the Ballet quot;Giselle quot; Essays
Giselle is a romantic ballet choreographed by Jean Coralli and Jules Perrot. Adolphe Adam beautifully
composes the music. This ballet was originally performed in Paris in 1841. The production that we
viewed in class was from La Salla. Giselle is one of the last ballets of the Romantic era.
The element that stood out the most to me was how effectively the music and the footwork
corresponded. The best examples of this are seen through the dancers solos. Especially Albrecht s
solo, his feet glide on the stage at the same tempo as the music. Similarly, Giselle s graceful footwork
is truly amazing. I really like the similarities between the choreographed footwork and the music, it
makes Giselle seem much more elegant and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I also enjoyed the mixture of solo dancing in comparison with the peasant dancing in the first act. I
thought the two coincided very well. Additionally, the choreographer, made excellent use of the stage
space. There was a good variation of movement across the stage, without unnecessary distraction.
Furthermore, in Giselle the viewer notices are the difference in costumes, compared with today s more
contemporary ballets. Giselle is dressed as a girl, not like a typical ballerina. The length of her skirt is
very long, but stops short enough for you to allow seeing her footwork. There is also a clear
distinction among the high society and the peasants. When the peasants are dancing, their costumes
are all in the same, more muted color hue, whereas when the high class is dancing or on stage they
have noticeably ornate costumes. This is an important element to this ballet. It also makes this
difference more easily distinguishable to those people who do not know the whole story line behind
Giselle.
There are two more very noticeable elements of Giselle , facial expression, and body movement. The
facial expression throughout both acts is very noticeable. For example, in Act One, you can see by the
way Giselle looks around; she is very shy and obedient to her mother. By watching her face, you see
her batting her eyes at Albrecht and flirting with him in a very innocent

The World Order s And Private Institution
Over 20 percent of the global population live in unsustainable impoverished conditions, surviving on
less than a dollar a day, with approximately 50 percent living on less than two dollars. Over 2 ½
billion people have a 10% infant mortality rate versus the 0.006% of infant deaths in developed
countries. As conditions worsen the poor rich gap widens through progressive decades, reaching an
average per capita income of 74:1 in 1997. A debate has emerged as the whether developed countries
possess a duty to ameliorate the living condition of the global poor and on what grounds said duty is
justified. This inquiry prompts an ethical analysis of the world order s role, as well as individual
institutions role in worsening or failing to improve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, I will critically analyze and disprove the counter argument, which attempts to relieve us of the
aforementioned duties, by discrediting the roles of institutions and the developed in prolongation of
impoverishment. Elements of Pogge s philosophical argument will also be addressed, though the
overall arguments of this paper take a differentiated approach in justifying the acceptance of Western
Society s obligation to the global poor. There exists a global order that proclaims its primary purpose
is to facilitate cooperation between rich and poor nations. The presence of said order creates an
uneven distribution of advantage among nations, an imbalance sometimes thought to be the result of
an array of independent factors. Mathias Risse suggests the global order harms third world nations
through Uncompensated Exclusion; where privileged countries are given several advantages over the
worse off in regards to natural resources. Here the benefits of the impoverished are minimal. This
defies the moral rule of Egalitarian Ownership, which describes all natural resources as belonging to
all humankind. By denying the global poor an equal portion of natural resources during international
commerce the order violates their people s human right to a standard of living adequate for the health
and well being of oneself and one s family, including food, clothing, housing and

Noise
Noise is also a significant factor and indeed is a type of pollution which can negatively effect how we
feel. The constant drone of a computer or other machinery, electrical buzzing from refrigerators or
lights, traffic noise in the street outside, workmen nearby and so on, can increase the amount of stress
that the occupants feel and would do little to evoke feelings of wellbeing in any room.
Colour
A great deal of research has been conducted into the effect of colour, too much to go into here. On a
very basic level, red is intense and attracts attention; it is also associated with passion. Blue is more
relaxing and can evoke feelings of trust and reliability so is often used in business settings. Green is
linked with nature and is easy on the eye as opposed to yellow which can strain the eye but at the same
time can increase concentration. Paler colours are more likely to enhance the perception of space in a
room. The secret is to go for the colour that is perfectly in tune with how it makes you feel in any
particular room, you are the final judge.
Smell
Pleasant aromas can enhance the perceived beauty of a room and at the same time unpleasant smells
can spoil an otherwise perfect space. This is something that estate agents well know when it comes to
selling a property. The smell of fresh coffee and newly baked bread can make a home feel more
inviting whereas strong and pungent food odours do the opposite.

Frankenstein Vaccinating Children Research Paper
In the novel, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, Victor Frankenstein takes science a step too far. By
learning the secrets of heaven and earth, Victor brings a monster of his own creation to life and dooms
himself and the human race (Shelley 23). The abhorred monster kills many of Victor s friends and
family and has the opposite effect of a vaccine (Shelley 81). Creating Victor s fiend was superfluous,
but the creation and use of vaccines are not, as they save many people from dying of preventable
diseases each year. Due to the unlikely risk that comes with a vaccine, many parents have tried to
excuse their child from getting them. There is nothing to decide about children getting vaccinated, as
all children should receive mandated vaccinations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As many are aware, the measles was a huge threat to children before people developed a successful
vaccine for this disease. Before vaccines, an average of 500,000 annual cases of the measles got
reported each year in the United States; since 2000, when vaccines became popular, there have been
about 62 cases per year (Omer). As one can see, the amount of cases of the measles decreased since
the measles vaccine. This data shows how vaccinating children decreases the chances of contracting a
dangerous disease like the measles. Many people in countries like the United States take vaccines for
granted and do not appreciate the benefits that come with their country wide, mandated use. Similarly,
each year about three million children die each year from vaccine preventable diseases, therefore the
vaccines that people would love to have access to could be going to children in need (Greenwood). In
less developed countries, people are lucky to get vaccinated for common diseases, and jump at the
opportunity to get a vaccine. Due to the many who die because vaccines are not available, people need
to accept the vaccines are a luxury. Vaccines are safe to give to children and prevent children from
becoming part of the one in three million who die because they did not get

Coercive Interrogations And The Elicitation Of False...
COERCIVE INTERROGATIONS AND THE ELICITATION OF FALSE CONFESSIONS
The effectiveness of the coercive methods used in modern interrogation lack rigorous scientific
consideration and have been accepted without satisfactory scrutiny. Previous studies on alternative
methods of interrogation are underdeveloped and sparse, as scope exists to reform current practices to
ensure that interrogation processes (are) ecologically valid and focused on the correct processes. This
essay posits that the accusatorial Reid Model of interrogation is ineffective insofar as it employs
coercive practices that have been empirically proven to elicit false confessions. The problematic Reid
Model is juxtaposed against an alternative non coercive information gathering approach to highlight
the superiority of this method in its ability to elicit true confessions. This essay emphasises the
challenge for future research to continue to deconstruct the validity of coercive techniques to
encourage reform that promotes more effective non coercive methods.
In examining the foremost interrogation methods used, this essay will utilise the distinction drawn by
Meissner et al between information gathering and accusatorial approaches as a means to highlight
coercive practices within interrogations. The accusatorial method uses psychological manipulation in
order to establish control of a suspect and achieve confession. This method is typified by the approach
of the United States through their use of the

Knowledge In Frankenstein
Frankenstein; or The Modern Prometheus by Mary Shelley tells an interesting tale of a young scientist
and his attempt to create life and the unfortunate circumstances that occur afterwards. He creates a
monster and almost immediately abandons his creature due to the creature s horrifying nature. Three
years later in Frankenstein s life, the monster reunites with Frankenstein and explains to Frankenstein
the monster s coming of knowledge in this world and we learn about how the monster has come to see
himself and the world around him. This is different to what could have happened if Frankenstein had
been there as a mentor, instead the monster depended his views on the family he watched and books

Pediatric Neurology Personal Statement
There is no question I want to train in pediatric neurology, a complex arena with multiple intersecting
facets that has been a long standing interest.
A 5 year old female who was initially admitted due to severe status asthmaticus, developed over four
days an acute flaccid paralysis involving both upper extremities with associated areflexia and lower
extremity sparing; where is the lesion?
This very question encapsulates every aspect of neurology with which I have become fascinated.
This was my very first complicated case during my third year clinical rotations in pediatrics that
captivated every one of my senses. I was inspired by the discussions between pediatric neurology, the
pediatric critical care intensivists, neuroradiology, infectious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I was quick to understand that pediatric neurology is not one where there is a fast cure, no single
antibiotic to resolve a bacterial sinus infection. Most patients who come seeking care will have
chronic, disabling disorders, even something as simple as a headache, and if it s not chronic, it will
have been for an acute etiology that leaves devastating effects. Most importantly, I understand that as a
pediatric neurologist, I would be helping people even when there is no cure, a burden to some, but a
task I wholeheartedly embrace. My experiences as a teacher already taught me how to persevere
approaching complex students coming from different backgrounds whose academic struggles were
rooted in family issues; they needed holistic approaches with an array of resources for support. I
continue to develop these schools, but I believe my compassion is what sets me apart from other
applicants. I not only want to provide the best quality care and treatment options available for these
patients, but I also want to be there to communicate with families and bolster their support for my
patient. I know this to be crucial in the pursuit of improving recovery and better well being for
patients. I possess the skills necessary to enter this incredible field, and I am the person you want to

A Comparison Of Democratic And Republican Parties
As we all know in the past of the United States history, there were two major parties that are
Democratic and Republican party that dominant the southern and northern of America. Today, as the
two major parties conflict has arisen, Libertarian party has formed and its views mix in the between of
both major parties. We cannot deny a great effort of increasing an American economic from all three
parties such as Democracy, Republican, and Libertarian. However, many political issues the parties
are faced which seem to shift their basic belief over the times like states right for an example.
In the past, the Democratic and Republican parties did not share the same views of how power should
be split between national government and states. Democratic party supported state rights while
Republican party thought that state rights limited the United States to become a strong nation. Today,
the view of state rights has switched its position between the two parties in which the Democracy
wants to be more control in the states rights while the Republican party is opposed. For instance, the ...

Besides lower tax plan, the Republican also wants to promote free markets in which seller and buyers
are making deals that both sides can able to agree on the prices and services as they desire without any
form of intervention that rules by the government. By promoting people s freedom, the Republican
party s viewpoint has shifted because of its

The First Ten Days Of College Essay
The first ten days of college are some other experience. When I arrived on campus for the Eagle
Incentive Program it was in the high nighties with some humidity. Moving in wasn t that bad, it was
just extremely hot. I was breaking a sweat walking up and down the Southern Pines stairs. The next
day was time to say goodbye to my family. After giving my mom a big warm hug and a kiss goodbye,
seeing them leave was a weird feeling. As I walked up the stairs to head back in my room the feeling
really crossed my mind that I wasn t going to see her again for another five weeks. It was an emotional
few seconds saying goodbye, but I knew my mom was proud of my accomplishments that I achieved.
Motived to work hard and make her even more of a proud mother; my sad emotions soon turned into
happy thoughts.
Well, it was not long before my mom was disappointed in me. My first week here I actually got
myself in debt and my parents were furious at me. They told me in a serious tone that if that ever
happens again, I will have to make myself money. Money management has already gotten me by the
tail. Back at home, I could spend money here and there because I had a job and was getting paid
weekly. Unemployed now because of moving to Statesboro, I only get 35$ put on my debit card a
week. My spending that week was on three meals from Zaxbys and my money was gone. Thirty five
dollars may seem like a lot, but it flies by in college. In an article on usnews.com it states Talking to

  • 2. Black Men And Public Space Essay There have been many stories about discrimination. It has affected people of color. Those stories explained how bad it can be for outsiders. Stories like that have had a big impact on society. Two stories that are an example of that are Black Men and Public Space by Brent Staples and The F Word by Firoozeh Dumas. The stories, Black Men and Public Space and The F Word are similar because both characters were discriminated against themselves, were not the only ones harassed, and each went through a tough moment. One of the ways the two essays are similar is because both characters were discriminated against themselves. For example, In Black men and Public Space Staples was discriminated against for his skin color. He lived in a part of Chicago where it was mostly white American people. Sometimes people would not look his way and ignored him because they thought he was up to no good. The reason for that was because white people did not want to associate with a black man. Staples was also discriminated because of the way he walked at night. In the essay, an example of that was when Staples explained that he was walking behind a woman. The woman turned around and saw him. The woman thought he was a mugger because Staples was black. In his own words, Staples described After a few more quick glimpses; she picked up her pace was soon running in earnest, within seconds she disappeared into a cross street (pg195). That was the kind of discriminations he had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Discover of Biotin or Vitamin H Essay Biotin has been discovered in many similar ways which is in fact the reason as to why no one person can take the full accreditation to its discovery. Biotin is occasionally referred to as Vitamin H or vitamin B7 (Challem, 2008) , but it was not fully perceived until the 1900s. W. Bateman was a primary researcher in the discovery of the vitamin and made the most notable contributions to the findings of biotin. Biotin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The recommended amount of of biotin is 30 mcg a day. Biotin is one of the safest supplements and has even been given to people in doses of 200 mg. The adequate amounts for digestion from different ages vary. Infants aging from age 0 to twelve months are recommended to take only 7 micro grams daily. Children from the ages of one to three years, take eight micro grams. Children from the ages of four to eight are recommended to take twelve micro grams, children between the ages of nine to thirteen can take twenty micro grams daily, teenagers aging from fourteen to eight are instructed to take twenty five micro grams, adults over the age of eighteen and women who are pregnant are advised to take thirty micro grams a day and women who are breast feeding are instructed to take thirty five micro grams of biotin daily. Although Biotin is a water soluble vitamin that is a vital component of the four primary carboxylase enzymes that scientist see in humans. In Japan there was a formula that did not contain sufficient amounts of biotin for infants. From seeing this, researchers then decided to take their study and practice on mice and see how they react to the formula that showed that the infants were lacking biotin from this ketogenic formula. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of the ketogenic diet on biotin status in mice. Methods: Male mice (N = 32) were divided into the following groups: control diet group, biotin deficient (BD) diet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Negligence Cases And Its Effects On The Judicial System Negligence cases and their analyses have dominated our judicial system from its very inception. This can be attributed to the human need to find fault and administer blame for wrong doings and the mere fact that committing negligence is so simple one may not even realize that it is being committed until one is served with court documents. For example, pretend your home has a very steep step leading to the front door. You are aware of this after all, you live there but you want to ensure the safety of all visitors to your home. Suppose each day you place a sign by the driveway that states, Caution! Beware of steep step; however, one day you decide to take a vacation and decide that is unnecessary to put the sign out for the duration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Could the incident have been reasonably foreseen and could the presence of an employee have helped mitigate damages? On June 20, 1943, Anna C was chartered from its owner, Conners Marine Company, to the Pennsylvania Railroad Company at a stated hire per diem. On January 4, 1944, around 2:15 PM, a negligent accident occurred which resulted in the sinking of the Anna C and all of her cargo being destroyed. The cargo aboard the Anna C flour was the property of the United States. At the time of year the accident occurred, daylight hours were shorter than normal and the weather conditions were not favorable (UNITED STATES et al. v. CARROLL TOWING CO., Inc., et al., 1947). The negligence of the accident comes from a few different sources. Since the harbor conditions were uneasy and busy, the owner of the barge should have had a captain on board at the very least during daylight hours. The night before, the bargee left the Anna C at 5 PM and was still not present at the time of the sinking at 2:15 PM the following day. During this 21 hour gap, no bargee was on board when he should have been. Another negligent act was that the captain of the tug Carroll instructed the deckhand and harbormaster to inspect the lines on the tiers holding the barges to the Public Pier and Pier 52, including the Anna C. Since the harbormaster was employed by Grace Line, some fault lies with that company as well. Grace Line s failure to add ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Describe The Relationship Between Two Organelles instructions from DNA. Proteins from the cytoplasm enter the the nucleus through the nuclear pores and combine with rRNA to make subunits of ribosomes. The small and large subunits of ribosomes then exit the nucleus also through the nuclear pores and then join in the cytoplasm to make a ribosome. Ribosomes are either bound or free in the cytoplasm. Free ribosomes in the cytoplasm make proteins that function in the cytoplasm. Bound ribosomes are bound to the nuclear envelope or the rough endoplasmic reticulum, where they make proteins that are later packaged into vesicles . A Simple, Fast and Memory Efficient Algorithm for Secure Communications in Wireless Sensor Networks Anusha Peddigari, Archana Tandra and L.K. Suresh Kumar Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University College of Engineering, Osmania University, Hyderabad. Email: suresh.lokhande, anushapeddigari94, archanatandra95 {@gmail.com} Abstract Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) introduce a new way to interact with the physical environment. The security in WSNs became an attractive area of research. WSNs are susceptible to a wide range of malicious attacks. At present ECC is considered for secure communications, which is having good potential for WSN security due to its smaller key size and its high strength of security. Unfortunately, the execution time of ECC is more which is not suitable for more number of applications. A number of other security mechanisms have been proposed for sensor networks to provide data confidentiality, namely Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) and Data Encryption Standard (DES). In this paper, we propose an algorithm, which is compared and analyzed with the existing ECC and AES to provide better security with authenticated sensor nodes. The authentication is done with a secret code. The proposed algorithm will ensure the secure communication with authenticated devices. The analysis results shows that the scheme works better than the common existent schemes with better utilization of available memory. Keywords Elliptic Curve Cryptography, ... • 8. Bolshevik And Menshevik Party Essay Angered by the current status of the political system, the working class in early 20th century Russia was ready to fight for a change. The Bolshevik party, a branch of the Russian Social Democratic Worker s Party (RSDWP) led by Vladimir I. Lenin, rose to power through a series of revolutions, fighting for a societal evolution that would lead a once capitalist Russia into a communistic political powerhouse. Two parties represented the left wing of the RDSWP, both wanting similar changes. Both the Menshevik and Bolshevik parties desired a socialist society, though their approaches to change the capitalistic society differed. The Menshevik party believed in a wide appeal; they thought that their strength was in their numbers. Contrarily, the Bolsheviks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By World War 1, the Bolshevik party was the only political party in Russia to fight vocally to end the war, insisting that it was dividing the working class and leading them to death. Due to this vocalization, the leaders of the movement were arrested; Lenin had escaped from the arrests and moved to Switzerland, leaving behind a small core group who supported the movement. On April 4, 1917, Lenin returned to Russia to give his April Thesis to Social Democratic Parties. He pushed a new program, stating that it was time to start a socialist society before a bourgeois government was permanent. Moreover, he established a tactical program to stir a revolution for a proletariat. Their slogan, Peace, Land and Bread, highlighted the three areas the party believed were necessary for success, of which to current government was failing to excel at. Particularly, the provisional government lacked an agrarian program, left urban populations starving to help the war, and they, according to Lenin, were in need of a new offensive. Lenin emphasized most that all power should be left with the soviets. As a result, on October 24 25, 1917, Lenin and the Bolshevik party led Russian workers and peasants to overthrow the Provisional government and set up a soviet government. The revolution resulted in peace on all fronts, and enabled the party to take over the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Examples Of Child Care Observation Step 1: Participant. The child I chose to observe was a brown hair, Hispanic 15 month old girl. The reason I chose to observe her is because I have seen her at the daycare before and she is always so happy, and has such a fun personality. When I began to observe her she was just getting to the center, and her parents just dropped her off. Step 2: Consent. You need to insure an adult responsible for the child has given you permission to observe the child. I had to get consent from the director of Oakwood Methodist Daycare, as well as the parent. I briefly described to both the director and the parent what my paper was going to be about, and asked if it would be okay if I observed the little girl in the infant room. The director had no problem with it. The mother also agreed to it, but she did ask to obtain a copy of the paper before submitting it just so she could read it, and make sure everything looked good. Step 3: Procedure. The place of observation took place at my work, before I clocked in for the day. I work at Oakwood Methodist Preschool/Daycare. I went in to the daycare at about 9:00, which is just free play/ breakfast time in the infant room. The infant room I observed in was a little different than the CDRC, because the infant room is from 7 weeks old to 18 months old. There was not really a place for me to be ... However, some ideas are crafted so precisely and detailed; they are accepted as fact by millions of people. These alternatives to accepted history are known as Conspiracy Theories, and the people who create them are of a special breed. It is difficult to imagine having the time and passion to craft an alternative reason behind many of the world s events and tragedies, but these people are born to do so. There is a specific recipe for such a person, a carefully crafted powerful concoction that breeds the hatred for government and the quest for the truth . Such people have been around for thousands of years, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before the discussion if furthered, it is important to lay down the basics of who really is a conspiracy theorist. By Conspiracy Theorist , it is meant to reference a person who has spent at least ten years of their life to the ideas which counter those of larger accepted organizations (ex: Government). These persons must have published at least two books about their topics and must have some sort of mass following and audience. According to PBS, a Conspiracy Theorist is: someone who postulates on the existence of secret agreements between two or more people or government to perform unlawful acts. (PBS: Strange Days) that definition is what will be used in conjunction with the stated qualifications above for each person discussed in this paper. Due to the limited resources and time constraints I cannot claim that the stated characteristics are the only factors of a conspiracy theorists. There are many factors that influence one to become interested in devoting ones life to counter history. It is possible to deeply research the personal background of a large number of conspiracy theorists, but due to time and general interest, I will not be completing such a task. The ones who are discussed are those who had readily available information/ responded to the questionnaire that was sent (a total of three people where sent the questionnaire, two responded). • 12. The Importance Of Operant Conditioning Operant Conditioning Within the early 19th Century, Edward Throne like conducted experiments on dogs and cats to determine the way these animals behave under certain conditions. These studies were conducted through replicating and standardizing the circumstances that the animals were in through a controlled environment. As such, this model demonstrated that animals had the nature to learn when they were presented with certain consequences. In 1938, Burrhus Friederich (B. F.) developed the core idea of the Operant Conditioning Skinner, which claims that operant conditioning, was brought about by the response from the operant under threat (Sakagami, Lattal, 2016). Some factors were involved in the increase of the operant conditioning especially when Edward Thorndike was examining the behavior of cats and rats. It was necessary to consider the problem solving abilities of these animals within puzzle boxes that would otherwise lead the animals in a state of constraint. Moreover, there was a need to understand the relationship exhibited between the appropriate reaction to the individual situation and the associated strengths to the same. Moreover, other factors such as the ability of the animals to learn under the conditions presented as was later proven by Skinner. The core principles that are important in understanding the operant conditioning and how it may result in the retention offer includes the operant variability where the individual may experience emitted behavioral ... • 14. Young Goodman Brown, The Scarlett Letter, And The House Of... Young Goodman Brown: Analysis of his faith Personal experience plays a vital role when authors decide on the certain topics for their stories. A factor like religion may determine an author s writing style. For example, an author who may have had a Christian upbringing may write about faith, hell, or salvation; in contrast, one who had a negative experience with religion as a child, may hint at departing from their family and finding one s own religion. A well known author from the 1800s, Nathaniel Hawthorne, implements his religious upbringing in his stories, Young Goodman Brown , The Scarlett Letter , and The House of Seven Gables. The use of certain thematic elements in Young Goodman Brown help readers understand how the main character lost his faith and became bitter towards religious people. Impact Of Asian Culture On Mental Health Culture Matters: The Impact of Asian Culture on Mental Health and the Patient Practitioner Relationship Jeannie Lai Salazar The University of Adelaide Culture Matters: The Impacts of Asian Culture on Mental Health and the Patient Practitioner Relationship Mental health illnesses affect everyone. It is highly prevalent affecting people of all ages, gender, cultures, and social groups. Attitudes towards mental health illnesses vary among individuals and often are highly influenced by the various cultures that the individuals identify with. Culture as a social concept can be defined as a set of norms, values, behaviours, and beliefs that are common and shared amongst a group of individuals (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 1999). Culture can be applicable to groups like Asians and Americans but also to groups of shared norms, beliefs, and values established within professions such as the culture of patients and practitioners. Culture provides these groups with structure and context to understanding their society and the world as a whole. Culture influence a wide range of aspects of mental health, including how mental health is perceived by the patient, how the patient will experience mental health stigma, and how they cope with symptoms of mental health illness. Additionally, these cultural influences impact the relationship between the patient and the practitioner in a number of ways. Impacts of Culture on Mental Health Each culture or ... It was set up on Baron Reith s hands as an educative media building public s character by establishing and socializing cultural value to the society via its programs. Hitherto, BBC s work focuses on the cultural connection among the society and plays a role as its guardian rather than pays attention to the diversity among them (Curran Seaton, 2003). However, some critiques about its existence started raising in the end of 1980s as the appearance of the Sky Media commercial satellite television company which gave larger opportunity for public to choose what they want to see. Besides, it also must be willing for a limited autonomy in its operation since the government has the authority to control its working mechanism. The core objection of this form of broadcasting is to serve public by providing quality information and facilitating public discourse to enforce democracy and advance civilization. In term of quality information, PSB plays a role as socio cultural agent whose duty is to perpetuate the high culture and raise public awareness as an united national entity. Furthermore, in its role as a discursive arena, PSB exists as a practice of Habermas idea of public sphere where public as a political community exercise their freedom of assembly and freedom of information to solve their social problem as well as to reach an agreement about the common good which is expected to affect the policy in a society (Hauser, 1998). To guarantee that this democratic function works well, PSB must guarantee that its operation is impartially detached from either state or market interest. In this case, BBC is a good example. • 17. Epic of Beowulf Essay Alliteration in Beowulf The diction of the Old English poem Beowulf is distinguished primarily by its heavy use of allliteration, or the repetition of the initial sounds of words. In the original manuscript version of the poem, alliteration is employed in almost every line (or two half lines); in modern translations of the poem this is not so. Beowulf uses alliteration [my italics] and accent to achieve the poetic effect which Modern English poetry achieves through the use of poetic feet, each having the same number of syllables and the same pattern of accent (Wilkie 1271). In lines 4 and 5 of the poem we find: Oft Scyld Scefing sceapena preatum monegum ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such stressed alliterative binding together created hundreds of pairs that are used over and over, such as halig/heofon holy/heaven, dryhten/dugud lord/troop, fyren/feond sin/enemy. The pairs need not be complementary, but rather can be contrastive, like eadig/earm happy/wretched and wearm/winter warm/winter. These dictional contrasts provide the listener additional pleasure by surprising his expectations. The alliteration also includes stressed vowels (Tharaud 34). Prof. Magoun, in examining the poem, considers it probable that a high percentage of the language in Beowulf is formulas or phrases repeated from a common bank of phraseology from which all poets drew their language (88 89). From this common bank the poets drew out what they need based on the requirements of alliteration. In his essay The Making of an Anglo Saxon Poem, Robert P. Creed agrees that alliteration was the poet s basis for making his choice of words: I shall therefore take only a very small portion of Beowulf, eight verses (four lines), and attempt, by means of references to similar verses and lines in the rest of the poem and in other surviving Anglo Saxon poems, to illustrate the thesis that the making of any Anglo Saxon poem was a process of choosing rapidly and largely on the basis of alliterative [italics mine] needs not between individual words but between formulas (142). In 1732 King George 2 granted a charter by giving named trustees permission to establish the Georgia Colony. Until 1752 the Georgia Colony had seen both dark and light moments; some of which include the construction of the settlement, the establishment of Fort Frederica, as well as declaring war on Spain. The corporation was made to be a charitable body, so none of the trustees could receive or buy land of their own. Also Because of the small amount of land everyone on the new settlement received there were several complaints about going into poverty and not having enough slaves or workers to help establish the colony. James Oglethorpe and 20 other trustees finally decided that they would do whatever it took to make the colony a utopian city. Because Georgia had such a great defense system; it won the battle of bloody marsh; and defeated the Spanish. This was accomplished by raising the first alarm at fort William, evidence for this is found in document D, The first alarm was raised by the garrison at Fort William, which successfully kept several Spanish galleons from entering the inland waterway (Colonial Coastal Fortifications Document D). If the child is continually exposed to multiple violent and trauma acts, they will be physically stressed out. A child having over reactions to things that remind them of the original event can create difficulty in concentration and attention. There are emotional effects such as isolation and inability to trust other peers. This essentially can translate into low self esteem and depression. In one long term study, as many as 80 percent of young adults who had been abused met the diagnostic criteria for at least one psychiatric disorder at age 21. These young adults exhibited many problems, including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and suicide attempts ( Silverman, Reinherz Giaconia, 1996). NSCAW found that children who were placed out of home care due to abuse or neglect were scored lower on measures of cognitive capacity, language development, and academic achievement. This ballet was originally performed in Paris in 1841. The production that we viewed in class was from La Salla. Giselle is one of the last ballets of the Romantic era. The element that stood out the most to me was how effectively the music and the footwork corresponded. The best examples of this are seen through the dancers solos. I also enjoyed the mixture of solo dancing in comparison with the peasant dancing in the first act. I thought the two coincided very well. Additionally, the choreographer, made excellent use of the stage space. There was a good variation of movement across the stage, without unnecessary distraction. Furthermore, in Giselle the viewer notices are the difference in costumes, compared with today s more contemporary ballets. Giselle is dressed as a girl, not like a typical ballerina. The length of her skirt is very long, but stops short enough for you to allow seeing her footwork. There is also a clear distinction among the high society and the peasants. When the peasants are dancing, their costumes are all in the same, more muted color hue, whereas when the high class is dancing or on stage they have noticeably ornate costumes. This is an important element to this ballet. It also makes this difference more easily distinguishable to those people who do not know the whole story line behind Giselle. There are two more very noticeable elements of Giselle , facial expression, and body movement. The facial expression throughout both acts is very noticeable. There exists a global order that proclaims its primary purpose is to facilitate cooperation between rich and poor nations. The presence of said order creates an uneven distribution of advantage among nations, an imbalance sometimes thought to be the result of an array of independent factors. Mathias Risse suggests the global order harms third world nations through Uncompensated Exclusion; where privileged countries are given several advantages over the worse off in regards to natural resources. Here the benefits of the impoverished are minimal. This defies the moral rule of Egalitarian Ownership, which describes all natural resources as belonging to all humankind. Before vaccines, an average of 500,000 annual cases of the measles got reported each year in the United States; since 2000, when vaccines became popular, there have been about 62 cases per year (Omer). As one can see, the amount of cases of the measles decreased since the measles vaccine. Previous studies on alternative methods of interrogation are underdeveloped and sparse, as scope exists to reform current practices to ensure that interrogation processes (are) ecologically valid and focused on the correct processes. This essay posits that the accusatorial Reid Model of interrogation is ineffective insofar as it employs coercive practices that have been empirically proven to elicit false confessions. The problematic Reid Model is juxtaposed against an alternative non coercive information gathering approach to highlight the superiority of this method in its ability to elicit true confessions. This essay emphasises the challenge for future research to continue to deconstruct the validity of coercive techniques to encourage reform that promotes more effective non coercive methods.
