My Birth Kahlo Analysis
Kahlo said, My painting carried with it the message of pain. Painting completed my life. I lost three
children. Painting substituted for all this (Ashton Dore, 1990). She left childbirth, a physical act, in an
image through constantly noticing the relationship between her physical experiences and her paintings
and being absorbed into actions of creation borne from her pain. It is almost difficult to find works of
art that depict this theme as honestly as Kahlo in Western art history. My Birth (1932) (Figure 24)
shows a front view of a woman delivering a baby (Souter Gerry, 2011, p. 60). Between the woman s
wide open legs is the head of a grown up Kahlo covered with blood and looking almost dead. A sheet
covers the woman s head and upper body ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first generation of feminists tried to reevaluate and praise the value of feminine attributes,
especially the female body, differentiated from masculine attributes and feminine experiences with an
essentialist attitude. Kahlo was praised as a legendary feminist artist, as the women inside her self
portraits are not passive objects for men s visual satisfaction but active observers who look closely
into their minds. As mentioned above as well, the female artists dilemma is that they are not only the
subject of painting but also the object being observed. Amid art history, established and dominated by
men, instead of depicting men as her competitors, Kahlo visualized the introspection of herself in her
paintings. She did not limit her role to competing with men, but she unfolded her sad personal history
in her unique way. Among them, the image of women depicted in Self Portrait with Curly Hair (1935)
(Figure 25) and Self Portrait with Cropped Hair (1940) (Figure 2) are not at all passive. It is in line
with the effort made by feminists involved in the early feminist art movement, which was to change
the passive and negative female image created by men. Kahlo is a true feminist artist as she delivered
truth observed through women s eyes in the period in which only truth seen through men s eyes was
accepted. She painted pondering women amid her suffering. She had a special ability to connect
femininity and masculinity, and this ability appeared in her painting (Bakewell Lisa,

resume the quality of life you had before the injury. A life plan can help you know what the costs
associated with that care will actually be so you can make sure that you don t end up bearing the
financial burden. Working with a Life Care Planner When it becomes necessary to develop a life care
plan, it is important you work with a skilled and knowledgeable life care planner who understands
how to create a realistic outline of necessary treatment. The plan must both protect your interests and
your right to compensation for treatment, and also be fair and objective so that the insurer or court is
convinced that the described future costs will actually be necessary. A life care planner will need to do
careful research to determine the anticipated needs of the accident victim for the rest of his or her life.
The planner will need to take into account what the standard industry treatment is for the type(s) of
injuries and will need to focus both on what the injured victim needs now and what he may need in the
future. The job of a life care planner can be difficult, but a knowledgeable expert will help create a life

North Korea s Nuclear Weapons
Issue for Decision
Dating back to the Korean War, North Korea has insisted its demand for nuclear weapons. North
Korean leaders and officials claim this right on the basis to safeguard North Korea s dignity,
sovereignty and ensure peace in its nation. Since its withdrawal from the Nuclear Non Proliferation
Treaty (NPT) in January 2003, North Korea has demonstrated unacceptable behavior violating its
obligations, in order to progress its nuclear weapon program.
The United States views North Korea s nuclear expansion behavior as intolerable. Current U.S. policy
aims to weaken North Korea s nuclear capabilities primarily through isolation, and ultimately to never
accept it as a nuclear state. We presently continue to tighten sanctions, condemn the DPRK s behavior
and use traditional deterrence measures in order to denuclearize the state.
I am confident that with tactful revisions in our current policy, we can more rapidly denuclearize and
freeze all nuclear missile activity in North Korea. These revisions include targeting financial and
regulatory sanctions against any government, financial or business entity serving North Korea s
nuclear program, countering North Korea s developing missile capabilities by securing the U.S. and
South Korea with appropriate defense mechanisms and encouraging Russia and China to withdraw
political support and increase pressure on the DPRK. Ensuring the denuclearization of North Korea is
essential to ensure U.S. national security and promote

Rational Expectation Hypothesis Proposed By Lucas ( 1973 )...
According to rational expectation hypothesis proposed by Lucas (1973) and Sargent (1971), economic
participants can make full use of all the information they can get to forecast the future inflation and
will not make systematic mistakes. To be specific, inflation expectations lead to a faster pace of
currency circulation. As inflation expectations rise, people feel that they will suffer losses due to the
weakness of purchase power, and therefore do not want to continue to hold trading and preventive
currency. This will speed up the flow of money, resulting in more money is created in the market and
rising price level. Moreover, inflation expectations often makes people to increase the purchase of real
or financial assets rather than holding the money, considering hedge risk or make investment. As a
result, the monetary supply become overabundance so that promote the rise of price level.
Dotsey and King (1983) implied the aggregate supply and rational expectation theory to explore the
monetary policy. Consequently, they suggest that the supply hypothesis and rational expectation are
conducive to the draft of an activist monetary policy. Therefore, the implementation of the policy of
the central bank should make the general price level changes can be identified by economic agents.
Dotsey and King (1983) state that under the rational expectation assumption, the changes of money
supply response to movements of interest rate can be identified by the agents in the economic

Asteroid Impact Theory
People often wonder why a Tyrannosaurus Rex or a Centrosaurus is no longer roaming around the
world today. They wonder about what happened to the dinosaurs, but they cannot be given a certain
answer. That is because the disappearance of dinosaurs is an event in history that is still being debated
today. There are different theories that try to explain the extinction, but the two theories that have been
most accepted are the asteroid impact theory and the volcanism theory (Ducharme).
One major theory explaining the disappearance of dinosaurs is the Alvarez hypothesis, or the asteroid
impact theory. Walter Alvarez and his father discovered an atypical large clay layer at the K T
boundary, or the event of the extinction of dinosaurs, in Italy. The clay layer contained a high level of
the element iridium. Iridium is found in the earth s crust, but it is very rare. However, iridium is very
common in meteorites and asteroids. So Alvarez and his father assumed that an asteroid must have
struck the earth causing the disappearance of dinosaurs (Ducharme). ... Show more content on

The crater is measured at 180 kilometers across and can be dated to the time when dinosaurs
disappeared. To cause a crater that large, the asteroid would had to have hit Earth with a force of at
least 100,000 billion tons of TNT. The impact would have caused an earthquake greater than any ever
recorded today, creating winds ranging higher than 400 kph. The dinosaurs that lived through the
earthquake would not have lived much longer. More than ninety thousand kilometers of debris would
have been thrown into the atmosphere blocking sunlight. The blocked sunlight would have then
caused darkness and cold temperatures that would have caused the lower end of the food chains to
stop reproducing (Ducharme). Thus, the plant population levels would have been heavily reduced so
there would not be enough plants to eat (Lerner

The Themes Of Rita Hayworth And The Shawshank Redemption
The Shawshank Redemption is a prison drama movie released in 1994 and is based on a novella
named Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption . The novella was written by Stephen King and
published in 1982 in a compilation of four novellas which was named Different Seasons. Rita
Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption was the first novella in the book; King called this first
chapter HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL. The rest of the novella chapters had references to summer, fall
and winter. However, King pointed directly to the main theme of the novella by his emphasis on
HOPE. Imprisonment is obviously an isolating and fearful experience. Ironically, after long
incarceration, many prisoners become institutionalized and so used to the bars, the tight schedules and
the prison guards that they become afraid of freedom or even the hope of freedom. As King stated in
an interview, What are we afraid of, as humans? Chaos. The outsider. We re afraid of change. We re
afraid of disruption, and that is what I m interested in. (Lehmann Haupt, www.theparisreview.org)
Both the book and the movie explore these fears, but keep hope alive in the human condition by
describing one prisoner s ability to retain his self worth despite being in a hopeless situation. His
outlook on life, his inner light kept him hopeful that he could become free again.

Identity In The Outsiders
A lot of events and people helped change Ponyboy s worldview and identity. A red headed girl named
Sherri Valance, was one of those people. An event which influenced Ponyboy, was the car crash which
killed his parents. A third thing which impacted Ponyboy, was the Rumble with the Socs. Many things
occurred in The Outsiders which shaped Ponyboy s identity, such as Cherry, Ponyboy s parents dying
and the Rumble. Sherri Valance helped change Ponyboy s worldview. She shaped him because he
realized that not all Socs were as bad or as lucky as he once thought. When Cherry was talking to
Ponyboy at the movie theater, she told him, all Socs aren t like that , showing some of them are good.
Cherry also helped Ponyboy realize that the Socs have problems too. During the conversation, Cherry
also told him, We (the Socs) have troubles you never heard of . He thought before that the Socials had
good grades, cars and girls, madras, mustangs and corvairs; and if he had troubles like that he would
be lucky. Ponyboy also had a new understanding that the Socs and Greasers both have had a hard, bad,
rough life. Sherri told Ponyboy that, things are rough all over , which demonstrates that the two ...

when he goes to Dally after Bob s death. Dally may not have said or did the best option for Ponyboy

Smooth Bore vs. Fog Nozzles
Old School: Smoothbore Nozzles in the Fire Service
The City of ______ Fire Department is in current discussion of using either smooth bore nozzle versus
combination nozzles in commercial structures. This conversation has been a topic within the fire
service since the introduction of the fog/combination nozzles in the 1960 s. Although there are
positives to both pieces of equipment, I believe that the department needs to make a decision on which
nozzle to use for a standard operating procedure and safety purposes.
To better understand the background of the contrasting views, we must look at how the fire service has
developed around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Guess what happened? We got our tails burned every time from the heat, steam, and black nasty
garbage dropping down on us. The protective cone of water works great IF you are not in a confined
super heated atmosphere. Like for approaching a gas meter fire, or a car fire where the heat can
dissipate into the atmosphere. I think the best choice is having both types of nozzles available and
selecting the right one for the job. Either way, a smooth bore stream or a straight stream from a
combination nozzle is the best choice for interior work.
The department decided to investigate this particular topic to determine which nozzle would be more
beneficial when a firefighter is in a burning commercial structure. The smooth bore shoots out more
water per second but at a straight stream. The combination nozzle shoots out more water droplets at a
wider stream. Both processes are functional when putting out a fire. However, the combination nozzle
can act as a barrier or wall against flames and smoke because it shoots at such a wide pattern. At the
same time because the combination nozzle system shoots out water droplets, the droplets produce
steam. The steam that is now present is more harmful to firefighters, which can be prevented by
keeping the smooth bore nozzle in place. A direct attack method is designed to extinguish the fire by
applying water in a straight or solid stream to the base of the fire. This allows the

Effective Communication For The Workplace
Someone once said great communication is a skill that is needed in life. I believe great communication
can take an individual very far in life. Effective communication helps connect with people. It can open
many doors for many jobs. It lets the employer know whom they have hired, and how intelligent the
person really is. In the business profession, effective communication enables managers to give
understandable instructions to their employees. Effective communication will help state what is
expected from workers. I believe effective communication can be used in all aspects of the workplace.
First, Susan Adams from Forbes wrote Good grammar is important in life. Using correct grammar in
the workplace shows the intelligence of the worker. It also shows how well thoughts are put together
before speaking. Using good grammar can also show employers that an employee can accomplish
other tasks on the job no matter what it is. For example the employee can be asked to give a formal
speech because the employer trusts that the employee will use the right language when talking. Good
grammar also shows the company that the employee cares about his personal image, the company
image, and that s what makes the company stand out from other companies. Good grammar shows
who the person is, for example what type of establishment have they grown up around. It also shows
what type of people the company hires (Adams). Kyle Adams wrote in the Harvard Business Review,

The Theory Of Power And Leadership Ideas
Ideas are beliefs and desires constructed in organized pattern with its creation, components and impact
that define the political structure and bind the ruling authority in a set of complying characteristics of

In today s world, it has to be admitted that more and more power is being given to the people and the
hypothesis that power belongs to the people, and they govern themselves has undoubtedly established
liberal democracy as the most appropriate form of governance. Ideas of equality, justice and freedom
are secured by democratic regimes and therefore over centuries, from French revolution to Arab
springs in 2010. Today s governments are liberal but modern democratic territories. They preach
supremacy and freedom of individuals provides fundamental rights, rule of law and security but at the
same time the system representing people takes the leading role. Modern states have to incorporate
various interests, requirements and political requirements and thus look at collective interests
idealizing stability, international image, and maintaining balanced political structure.
The constitutional framework of a state bases its policies, decisions on the ideas and ideologies
enshrined by the supreme law of the land constitution. All political, social and economic laws, policies
are formulated due to the ideological guidelines and principals inculcated by states. The ideas of
freedom, security, justice, rule of law, peace, protest, etc. are the building blocks of governance,

Merchant s Tale Irony
Merchants Tale and how Chaucer portrays Irony (1 27) As with a number of the Canterbury tales, the
prologue to The Merchant s Tale, is of significant to Chaucer s ironic and sarcastic comments in the
rest of the tale, it sets up the merchant s views on women, and marriage in particular, as set out in the
prologue which allow us to recognise the irony throughout his tale. This allows us to see the way in
which the Merchant is telling his tale, for example thilke blissful lyf might seem an innocent enough
comment to make for one knowing so little about marriage as January, yet we could pick up the
dripping sarcasm of this comment said by the merchant in January s place. By comparing the prologue
with the opening of the tale, the reader can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Merchant could possibly be telling us this fictional tale instead of the factual story his miserable
marriage. We expect this structural irony of him setting up a man positive and essentially naïve
towards marriage to emphasize the cruelty when he realizes he has been cuckolded. The sudden
change in opinions in the tale could be seen as an exaggerative irony throughout the tale. The
Merchant describes his wife as worste that may be The main irony in the tale is the difference between
the merchant and January. In the merchant s prologue: We wedded men, lyven in sorwe and care... The
counterpart to this comes then from January for ideas about marriage: Mighte ones knowe of thilke
blisful lyf and That is bitwixe an housbonde and his wyf... , The irony is shown more through the
narrative of the merchant, making us see January s views of wedded bliss within the title of self
delusion. Accordingly, when the merchant offers the warnings of Theophrastus, concluding with: And
an hundred thynges worse....., ther God his bones curse! It could just be Chaucer essentially showing
off his knowledge, yet it emphasises the Merchants point that marriage is not for the most part a happy

Susan B. Anthony, never gave up. In 1905 she met with President Theodore Roosevelt to propose the

As one of the most well known first ladies, Eleanor Roosevelt, also took part of a movement. She

UGANDA Uganda is a country located in Africa that is surrounded by Kenya and the Republic of
Congo. Uganda s capital is Kampala and some other major cities would be Gulu, Lira, Mbarara, Jinja,
Bwizibwera, Mbale, Mukono, Kasese and Masaka. The coordinates are 1 00 N, 32 00 E and the total

At first Uganda was controlled by the British and was called Baganda and was ruled by a king. The
British East Africa Company claimed the territory in 1888. The British did not have as much control
as they liked and this led to fighting amongst the different religious groups. Then a little later the

keeping a closer eye on things today. For example, improved weapons such as tasers have helped keep
suspects safe, computers in police cruisers allow instant access of information of individuals. Other

Many of the changes had been needed for years, but were never addressed. The king beating and trial
set in motion overdue reforms in the LAPD and that had a ripple effect of law enforcement throughout
the country (Deutsch). Since this had such a major effect on the lapd in almost destroyed their
reputation. The Rodney King beating almost destroyed the reputation of the Los Angeles Police
Department. In the aftermath of the Rodney king beating a lot of things changed with police on the
field. In the wake of the Rodney king case; cameras became standard equipment in patrol cars all over
the nation (Marcou). In doing this police now cannot cover up an incident that they were a part of. As
far as citizens recording police, there is still much disagreement about how it should be handled
(Marcou). Nowhere in the constitution does it say the citizens cannot film stuff that is happening
outside their house. When it comes to training, officers are told have your camera going at all times. A
professional police officer has nothing to fear from being recorded and always act as if you are being
recorded, because in today s world you probably are (Marcou). Thanks to cases like Rodney Kings,
law enforcement is much more aware of misuse of force in the field. Guns and other equipment in an
officer s arsenal play a key role in the officers safety as well as the safety of others

For citrus growers in Florida, the future is uncertain. Two bacterial diseases, named citrus canker and
citrus greening disease, have devastated countless acres of trees across the state. For an industry that
generates about $8.9 billion a year, this is no small issue ( Citrus Greening ). The Florida Citrus
Grower s Association would like to import a landrace of orange discovered in China that is resistant to
citrus greening disease and test it in Florida to discover its effects on both citrus canker and greening.
Although there are advantages to importing a resistant form of citrus, the risks greatly outweigh the

Unfortunately, canker is not the only disease growers have to worry about. Citrus greening disease,
also commonly referred to as Huanglongbing, is a much newer disease to Florida than citrus canker.
Although the bacterium, Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus, has been an issue in China since the 1900
s, it did not arrive in the US until 2005 ( Citrus Greening ). The disease is spread through its primary
vector, an insect called the Asian citrus psyllid. Symptoms, which include yellow mottling of leaves,
small, green, and misshapen fruit, and poor yields, may not appear until several years after a tree is
infected. Citrus greening is such an important issue currently because, according to the United States
Department of Agriculture, other than tree removal, there is no effective control once a tree is infected
and there is no known cure for the disease ( Citrus Greening ). To date, revenue loss caused by citrus
greening disease exceeds $3.6 billion ( Citrus Greening ). Although importing a race of orange that is
resistant to greening may be helpful, the imported plants must first make it through inspection and
quarantine. The branch of the USDA that regulates the import and export of plant materials is APHIS,
the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service. Individuals who wish to import foreign plant material

Given To Fly Eddie Vedder Meaning
In 1991 when Eddie Vedder wrote and performed his album Ten, he knew he was competing with the
big time grunge band; Nirvana. Once it hit the stage it was clear there was no competition. Eddie s
deep, emotional messages throughout this album, his shaky, raspy voice that transfers from screaming
lyrics to soft, poetic like speaking. All tied together with his hard to hate persona that can be heard
throughout this album and every album made by Eddie Vedder.
In the song Given To Fly Eddie says He got up out of there, ran for hundreds of miles / He made it to
the ocean, had a smoke in a tree / The wind rose up, set him down on his knee. In this verse Eddie is
describing his life and how he needs to get away from it all and just have a peaceful break, alone.
Vedder likes to use his life in third person in most of his songs to make his message more distant, and
almost more easily relatable. The song Given To Fly is actually a second or a reference to the song
Going to California By Led Zeppelin and how just leaving might help out more than anything.
Throughout the album there are several different songs with an abundance of different meanings. The
song, Alive, has one of the deepest messages that is tied to his life personally. The song is about a boy
that finds out that who he thought was his father, is actually his stepfather and his real father is dead.
Eddie said the song is a work of fiction based on reality (SK) . When Vedder was born his mom had

Variable Cost Efficiency:
The goal of any business is to have a larger gross profit margin. The graph below shows the three
industry giants compared side by side in terms of their gross profit margin as a percent of the company
s revenue. This can be used to measure variable cost efficiency.
Source: Morningstar Financial Statements Graph 2
The higher percentage, represented on this graph by Starbucks, shows that this business is keeping
more of each dollar of sales. This means there will be more money left over to use for other expenses.
The lower percentage, shown by Yum Brands, suggests that the business produces a very low revenue
to pay for expenses. This low gross profit margin usually suggests that either the business is unable to
control production and inventory costs or that prices are set too low.3 Using this information we can
conclude that the variable cost efficiency is better for a company with a higher gross profit ratio, like
Starbucks, than for a company like Yum Brands who produce revenue at a lower level.
Fixed Cost Efficiency:
Fixed cost efficiency is measured differently however. The next graph will depict Operating expenses
and as a percentage of revenue per company. As we will see, Starbucks has the largest operating
expense of any of the companies. What does this mean for the companies?

The Nature In Crossing By Mark Slouka
The Nature is many things.
It s one of the realest places to be. The Nature won t lie to you or adjust the reality just so it will please
you. The Nature doesn t care, it does what it wants and then you d just have to deal with it. It
challenges you, forces you to face the reality and most important of all, it makes you confront your
deepest fears and get answers for questions, you didn t even know you had.
Crossing is a short story written by Mark Slouka. It s about a father, who s going on a field trip with
his son. The father has just been divorced and hasn t been happy for a long time, but the nostalgia
about the trip, which he also went on with his own father, and having to spend time with his son,
makes him feel happy.
The short story is told with a third person limited narrator and from the father s point of view. The
narrator is descriptive, the surroundings are all very well described, and there s both indirect and direct
speech throughout the story. The indirect speech is often used when the father thinks back on
conversations he had earlier in his life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

lot of time when he was young and river crossing is a familiar activity of his. They had to cross the

a huge part in the story therefore it s important to understand its meaning and significance. The Nature
can reflect ones deepest fears and the father s fears takes form of the river, where he later comes to
face them. Firstly, the river makes him scared. It s been a long time since he had last seen it. He
remembered it differently, not as strong and big as it has come to be. Well there she is, he said. (p.2,

The Issue Of Legalizing Abortion Essay
Introduction State your Ethical Position on the issue upfront, with its ethical motivation. The argument
surrounding abortion is a very topical issue in our society and dates way back to ancient days. The
issue of legalizing abortion is a growing social concern as all life is sacred and valued. However, in
recent years there have been two ethical arguments by the Supreme Court in legalizing abortion that of
pro life and pro choice. Despite the legal acceptance of abortion in some countries, the matter remains
an ethical concern (Jones Chaloner, 2007). With this is mind, the writer s position is pro life from a
deontological perspective. According to the Encyclopaedia Britannica (2015), deontological
emphasizes the relationship between duty and morality of human actions. The term deontology
derives from the Greek deon, duty, and logos, science. Thus, pro life seek to advocate for the
defenseless human being whose life is being unjustly taken away (Alcorn, 1994). Since all human life
begins at conception the act of abortion can then be seen as murder because it is the act of taking
someone s life. Abortion is an infringement on human life. In retrospect no civil society would allow
for someone to take the life of another; for that reason, abortion must be viewed as morally wrong.
Subsequently, the bible recognizes no crucial difference between the being in the womb and the being
after birth. Hence, from conception and onwards, the individual is a person. Genesis

Los Angeles Riots 1992
The Los Angeles Riots of 1992 caused an uproar in the United States due to all the violence, and cost
the state of California over a billion dollars in damage (history.com). The Riots were caused by a
video that was leaked to the public of a black man that was assaulted by LAPD officers. Chaos raged
on the streets of Los Angeles for a total of three days until the President of the United States stepped
in to bring some order back to the city.

Compare And Contrast Loyalists And Patriots
Loyalist VS. Patriot William Franklin said to his father, Benjamin Franklin, in a letter at the start of
the American Revolution, ¨If you intend to set the colonies aflame, take care to run away by the light
of it.¨ This quote shows how William Franklin, the colonial governor of New Jersey was a Loyalist,
while his father Benjamin Franklin was a Patriot. The father and son did not speak to each other
because of their different views. Loyalists and Patriots had very different opinions on whether or not
to stay loyal to Britain. While the Patriots had more followers, the Loyalists had strong reasons to
remain loyal to the British government. While there were many advantages, the key and most essential
arguments are the following; Britain gave the colonists safety, the taxes and acts that the British put in
place were to help and not hurt the colonists, and the British Army would continue to be on their side.
Initially, the English gave the colonists a safe place to settle and start a new life with promising
opportunities. The British gained a great deal of land when they defeated the French. With this, came
many new homes to house the colonists. In addition, the French and Indian War put the British in

The Protest Psychosis Summary
Psychiatry and psychology have struggled in the past to contextualize the nature of mental illness.
Through this struggle, mental illnesses and their symptoms have been used as a means of controlling
deviance and pathologizing emotions felt by certain groups of people. Social, political, and historical
factors create the boundaries of sanity and insanity in which hegemonic, institutional power control
minority groups, however, the manner in which these boundaries manifest have shifted over time.
Jonathan Metzl in his book The Protest Psychosis: How Schizophrenia Became a Black Disease

Fish is a film that is about growing up and seeing new things that have never been seen before. The
two main characters who are brothers Rusty James and the Motorcycle Boy, experience internal

The editing consists of shot reverse shot between the three characters, with distinct close ups that
show detailed facial expressions. The Mise En Scene in this scene is limited compared to others, the
lighting used is the standard used through most of the picture. The costumes are very realistic with
Rusty James continuously wearing his tank top, however they are not elaborate. Coppola was able to
create a film of this caliber and not have to use all the fancy film techniques of the time, and that is
one reason why it is such a masterpiece. When the two brothers are looking at the fish it is somber, in
the way the speech is projected in such a low manner. The elder also tends to look quite somber, he
relates to the fish and it makes him think about the life for himself and his brother so he becomes
depressed. However, since both brothers are so enthralled with the fish it tends to be a light hearted
scene. When Rusty James listens to his brother about the fish let alone anything he finds it all
interesting and he is happy to hear anything he has to say. Rusty James does look and sound quite
confused when his brother is talking to him, he continuously scratches his head and also has a
dumbfounded look on his face. The lighting does not change much in this scene however the natural
lighting that is throughout the whole movie almost makes this movie what it is. For the majority of the

suggests that by playing sports teenagers can learn to be leaders and working hard in school (2016). In

The Pros And Cons Of The Holocaust Memorial
1.) Memorialization of any sort can be a tedious process, but those regarding Holocaust remembrance
were particularly challenging given the surrounding social and political controversies that ensued.
This is primarily seen through the issue of representation, which consistently played a key role in the
creation of both the Holocaust museum in Washington D.C., and the Dachau concentration camp
memorial. While the Dachau memorial s conception stages, the designers were contemplating which
victim groups to include. For instance, the mayor of Dachau stated, Please do not make the mistake of
thinking that only heroes died in Dachau. Many inmates were...there because they illegally opposed
the regime of the day....You have to remember there were many criminals and homosexuals in
Dachau. Do we want a memorial to such people? (Harold Maruse, Dachau, 151). With this quote, the
mayor implies that the memorial will only be dedicated to those he deems worthy of representation.
Likewise, the White House officials orchestrating the American Holocaust Museum also debated a
similar notion regarding the inclusion of ethic victim groups other than the Jews. However, Wiesel and
other Holocaust survivors believed that commemorating non Jews was an ...obscene incursion into the
boundaries of Holocaust memory by those whose country men had persecuted survivors (Edward T.
Linenthal, Preserving Memory, 53). For this reason, and in order to avoid the generation of false
memories, these groups

The Theory Of Sociological Imagination
For decades, there have been many questions that sociologists generally ask themselves when
examining a social phenomenon. One well known sociologist is C. Wright Mills. Mills came up with
the concept of sociological imagination. It is used to describe the ability of individuals to think away
from routines that they are used to in everyday life and look at them from an entirely new perspective.
Using this concept, mills applied it to asking and answering imaginative thoughts of sociological
questions. Mills came up with three questions that many thinkers have consistently asked in their
investigations of humanity and society. The three questions are what is the structure of this particular
society as a whole? , where does this society stand in human history? , and what varieties of men and
women now prevail in this society and in this period?. Moreover, one social phenomenon that can
explain how these questions help focus one s social imagination is crime. C. Wright Mills first
question is what is the structure of this particular society as a whole?. In asking this question, Mills
wanted to know how crime is understood in society and how is it an essential components that is inter
related in society?. In society, crime is seen as any actions that violates the laws established by a
political authority. However, according to the authors of the book introduction to sociology states that
sociologists studying crime and deviance in the interactionist tradition focus on deviance

The Security Threats And Security Architecture Design
ABSTRACT
Among civilian communication systems, vehicular communications emerge as one of the most
convincing effort made to enhance safety and improve the efficiency of transportation systems, to
meet ever increasing traffic demands. Security is one of the critical factors that need to be addressed
towards the deployment of vehicular communication systems. The efficiency of the transportation
systems, as well as the physical safety of vehicles, drivers, and passengers depend on the security
factor. Vehicular communications has to pass through the analysis of potential security threats and the
design of a robust security architecture able to cope with these threats. In this paper we deal with the
security threats and security architecture design.
INTRODUCTION:
Vehicular communications (VC) will play a vital role in enabling safer, smarter and greener
transportation, with envisioned applications providing, for example, warnings on environmental
hazards (e.g., ice on the pavement), traffic and road conditions (e.g., emergency braking, congestion,
or construction sites), and local (e.g., tourist) information.
To empower such applications, vehicles and road side infrastructure units (RSUs), namely network
nodes, will be furnished with on board processing and wireless communication modules, to
communicate with each other over single or multiple hops. Then, communication between vehicle to
vehicle (V2V) and vehicle to infrastructure (V2I) (bi directional) will be possible directly

Social Exclusion vs. Poverty Essay
There are many factors that contribute towards social exclusion in the United Kingdom. Not all of
these factors are as straightforward as each other. By considering these causes, I will be able to explain
why poverty is not the same as social exclusion.
It states in the Introduction of Labour s next steps: tackling social exclusion , that social exclusion is
about more than poverty and unemployment, it is also about being cut off and neglected by the rest of
society.
The Social Exclusion Unit states that the definition of social exclusion is a shorthand term for what
can happen when people or areas suffer from a combination of linked problems. They also state that

Many would argue that there is no Absolute Poverty in Britain and that it only exists in third world
countries. Many homeless people in Britain would disagree, as they live in cardboard box
communities, and are fed from soup kitchens, which is perhaps as absolute as you could get.
A definition of Absolute poverty would be:
a condition characterised by severe deprivation of basic human needs,
including food, safe drinking water, sanitation facilities, health, shelter,
education and information. It depends not only on income but also on
access to services.
(Tackling Social Exclusion John Pierson)
A definition of Relative poverty would be:
the poor shall be taken to mean persons, families and groups of persons
whose resources (material, cultural and social) are so limited as to
exclude them from the minimum acceptable way of life of the Member
State in which they live.
(Tackling Social Exclusion John Pierson)

The French Revolution Occurred During The Time Periods
The French Revolution occurred during the time periods 1787 to 1799 which shook France. Its climax
reached in 1789 when the ancien regime ended in France. The French Revolution was the most violent
and by far the most universally significant revolution compared to the rest. The initial cause of the
revolution was the social structure of the West. One social structure that was based on the holding of
all land by fees that resulted in the relation of the king to vassal was called the feudal system that
weakened step by step and had already disappeared in certain regions of Europe prior to the
revolution. The feudal system was characterized by homage, legal and military service of tenants, and

Rousseau was an anti philosophe, he took Montesquieu s theory a step further in which civilization
corrupts rather than nature and that big states are also corrupt, small states are best. During the time, as
France faced heavy expenditure that the wars had brought, the rulers had raised money by taxing the
nobles and clergy and the rulers were backed upon the enlightened despots. There are many causes
that could have contributed to the French Revolution like the peasants were aware of their situation
and were less willing to support the feudal system. The philosophes were well read throughout the
region and questioned many. The government was at the edge of bankruptcy due to their involvement
in the American Revolution because there was a refusal to pay taxes given by the Great Britain King
which ended with the rulers and privileged class become allies with the peasants and non privileged
class. There was many economic factors that started the French revolution also like: crop failures in
1788 and the population increasing. The French Monarchy was vanishing because it was unable to

The History of Drug Prohibition Essays
Drug prohibition was not always accepted as it is today. Indeed, until the early twentieth century, there
were few drug laws at all in the United States. Before the Harrison Narcotics Act of 1914, one could
buy heroin at the corner drugstore; even Coca Cola contained small amounts of cocaine until 1903
(Vallance 4). Some of the most proscribed drugs today were sold like candy and (quite literally) soda
pop. What caused the sudden shift to prohibition? Prohibitionists often point out that legal drugs at the
turn of the century led to an enormous drug problem, yet they never give any evidence that any public
menace due to drugs actually existed, other than showing that the public demanded drug laws
(Trebach 45). This argument ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Still, even after the Harrison Act of 1914 drugs were seen as a primarily medical problem. Over time,
the perception of drugs changed from objects of medical addiction to articles of immorality, until they
were seen primarily as a criminal problem in the 1930 s (Vallance 5). Much of this may have resulted
from alcohol Prohibition, which accustomed the American public to substance regulation. At the same
time, the typical drug user changed. Before 1914, the average user was typified by the heroin addict
Mrs. Dubose in Harper Lee s To Kill A Mockingbird: white, middle class, middle aged, and female.
David Courtwright notes that although fictitious, Mrs. Dubose personifies the American addict of the
late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries #8230;her sex, age of addiction, race, nationality, region,
class, and occupation #8230;[are] typical (qtd. in Trebach 56). As increasingly large numbers of
males, minorities, and the poor began using drugs, people s attitudes towards drugs changed. Duster
notes that middle America s moral hostility comes faster and easier when directed toward a young,
lower class Negro male, than toward a middle aged, middle class white female (21). Indeed, even drug
law crusader James Inciardi concedes that many early drug laws gained support because of racism and
xenophobia (Trebach 47). Thus, a demographic shift

Merriam Webster defines stress as a physical, chemical, or emotional factor that causes bodily or
mental tension and may be a factor in disease causation (Stress, 2015). Many people think of stress as
being overworked or overwhelmed, but stress can be caused by all facets of everyday life. Through the
evaluation of my stress self assessment and the course readings, it has become abundantly evident that
stress impacts the body, is affected by motivation and emotions, and by understanding the psychology
of stress it makes everyday stress significantly easier to manage.
Stress assessments can be key to understanding your stress level, the causes of stress in your life, and
more importantly how stress is currently affecting you. After taking two online stress evaluations, I
have discovered that I am significantly more stressed that I was previously willing to admit. Both tests
revealed that I am in extreme danger of stress induced health problems and I was able to directly relate
many of my current health issues to the various stress factors in my life. In light of these revelations, I
was not surprised by the test results. Stress left uncontrolled can cause illness, high blood pressure,
strained relationships, headaches, fatigue, depression and anxiety to name a few (Stress Management,
2000). For me, the signs of stress are being chronically tense, easily agitated, or having a prolonged
feeling of being overwhelmed. When you have no control over stress, all kinds of

The Contemporary Challenges Of Outsourcing
Matthew Butler
December 2nd 2014
Contemporary management
Professor Beehner M.P.A
Contemporary Challenge Essay
Outsourcing
Outsourcing is the transfer of control of a process or product to an outside supplier (Hasan).
For this assignment, please identify a contemporary management challenge (e.g. diversity, globalism,
ethics social responsibility, etc.). Then, identify a company or organization that you believe has been
impacted by this contemporary challenge. Write a minimum four page paper, with a cover page, and
works cited page (in addition to the four page minimum). The paper should address (1) the challenge
faced by that company or organization, (2) how management is responding to that challenge, (3) a
critical analysis of the management response, and (4) how you would have responded to that
challenge. This paper should be written in MLA format. Include at least five outside sources, three of
which should be scholarly journals (NOT Wikipedia or a generic Web site, but actual articles from
journals like Journal of Business Ethics, Harvard Business Review, Academy of Management, etc.),
and should demonstrate scholarly business critical analysis.
Outsourcing today is looked down upon by just about everyone, so it is no surprise that companies
that partake in it, are publically called out and put under close scrutiny: the company Nike is no
exception to that. Nike was an early target for the very reason that it s been so successful. Its business
model was based

Career Within The Sports Management Field
After throughly researching careers within the Sports Management field, I believe I would be
interested in working as a Director of Player Personnel. The Director of Player Personnel is a
management position within a sports organization whose main job is to support the athletes on the
team (Berner). This specific position is extremely significant for all athletic teams in amateur, college,
and professional leagues. Getting a job within the sports field is highly competitive, but their are more
opportunities now than ever before. I have always wanted to work within sports because of my
passion for fitness and athletics. My major was first Fitness and Health Promotions before I
transferred to the University of Alabama, but I decided to change my major to public relations so I
could work within the business aspect of sports. Working in a fast paced environment with a great deal
of interaction between various other positions is the perfect career for me and public relations is
exactly that. Public relations is defined as a strategic communication process that builds mutually
beneficial relationships between organizations and their publics (PRSA). After researching various
sports related careers, the description for a Director of Player Personnel instantly grabbed my
attention. It is a more specific public relations career involving direct contact with the team s athletes
as week as working with the team s office management and coaches to ensure the individual players
are

  • 2. My Birth Kahlo Analysis Kahlo said, My painting carried with it the message of pain. Painting completed my life. I lost three children. Painting substituted for all this (Ashton Dore, 1990). She left childbirth, a physical act, in an image through constantly noticing the relationship between her physical experiences and her paintings and being absorbed into actions of creation borne from her pain. It is almost difficult to find works of art that depict this theme as honestly as Kahlo in Western art history. My Birth (1932) (Figure 24) shows a front view of a woman delivering a baby (Souter Gerry, 2011, p. 60). Between the woman s wide open legs is the head of a grown up Kahlo covered with blood and looking almost dead. A sheet covers the woman s head and upper body ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first generation of feminists tried to reevaluate and praise the value of feminine attributes, especially the female body, differentiated from masculine attributes and feminine experiences with an essentialist attitude. Kahlo was praised as a legendary feminist artist, as the women inside her self portraits are not passive objects for men s visual satisfaction but active observers who look closely into their minds. As mentioned above as well, the female artists dilemma is that they are not only the subject of painting but also the object being observed. Amid art history, established and dominated by men, instead of depicting men as her competitors, Kahlo visualized the introspection of herself in her paintings. She did not limit her role to competing with men, but she unfolded her sad personal history in her unique way. North Korean leaders and officials claim this right on the basis to safeguard North Korea s dignity, sovereignty and ensure peace in its nation. Since its withdrawal from the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty (NPT) in January 2003, North Korea has demonstrated unacceptable behavior violating its obligations, in order to progress its nuclear weapon program. The United States views North Korea s nuclear expansion behavior as intolerable. Current U.S. policy aims to weaken North Korea s nuclear capabilities primarily through isolation, and ultimately to never accept it as a nuclear state. We presently continue to tighten sanctions, condemn the DPRK s behavior and use traditional deterrence measures in order to denuclearize the state. I am confident that with tactful revisions in our current policy, we can more rapidly denuclearize and freeze all nuclear missile activity in North Korea. These revisions include targeting financial and regulatory sanctions against any government, financial or business entity serving North Korea s nuclear program, countering North Korea s developing missile capabilities by securing the U.S. and South Korea with appropriate defense mechanisms and encouraging Russia and China to withdraw political support and increase pressure on the DPRK. • 5. Rational Expectation Hypothesis Proposed By Lucas ( 1973 )... According to rational expectation hypothesis proposed by Lucas (1973) and Sargent (1971), economic participants can make full use of all the information they can get to forecast the future inflation and will not make systematic mistakes. To be specific, inflation expectations lead to a faster pace of currency circulation. As inflation expectations rise, people feel that they will suffer losses due to the weakness of purchase power, and therefore do not want to continue to hold trading and preventive currency. This will speed up the flow of money, resulting in more money is created in the market and rising price level. Moreover, inflation expectations often makes people to increase the purchase of real or financial assets rather than holding the money, considering hedge risk or make investment. As a result, the monetary supply become overabundance so that promote the rise of price level. Dotsey and King (1983) implied the aggregate supply and rational expectation theory to explore the monetary policy. Consequently, they suggest that the supply hypothesis and rational expectation are conducive to the draft of an activist monetary policy. Therefore, the implementation of the policy of the central bank should make the general price level changes can be identified by economic agents. They wonder about what happened to the dinosaurs, but they cannot be given a certain answer. That is because the disappearance of dinosaurs is an event in history that is still being debated today. There are different theories that try to explain the extinction, but the two theories that have been most accepted are the asteroid impact theory and the volcanism theory (Ducharme). One major theory explaining the disappearance of dinosaurs is the Alvarez hypothesis, or the asteroid impact theory. Walter Alvarez and his father discovered an atypical large clay layer at the K T boundary, or the event of the extinction of dinosaurs, in Italy. The clay layer contained a high level of the element iridium. Iridium is found in the earth s crust, but it is very rare. However, iridium is very common in meteorites and asteroids. So Alvarez and his father assumed that an asteroid must have struck the earth causing the disappearance of dinosaurs (Ducharme). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The dinosaurs that lived through the earthquake would not have lived much longer. More than ninety thousand kilometers of debris would have been thrown into the atmosphere blocking sunlight. The Themes Of Rita Hayworth And The Shawshank Redemption The Shawshank Redemption is a prison drama movie released in 1994 and is based on a novella named Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption . The novella was written by Stephen King and published in 1982 in a compilation of four novellas which was named Different Seasons. Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption was the first novella in the book; King called this first chapter HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL. The rest of the novella chapters had references to summer, fall and winter. However, King pointed directly to the main theme of the novella by his emphasis on HOPE. Imprisonment is obviously an isolating and fearful experience. Ironically, after long incarceration, many prisoners become institutionalized and so used to the bars, the tight schedules and the prison guards that they become afraid of freedom or even the hope of freedom. As King stated in an interview, What are we afraid of, as humans? Chaos. The outsider. We re afraid of change. We re afraid of disruption, and that is what I m interested in. (Lehmann Haupt, www.theparisreview.org) Both the book and the movie explore these fears, but keep hope alive in the human condition by describing one prisoner s ability to retain his self worth despite being in a hopeless situation. Like for approaching a gas meter fire, or a car fire where the heat can dissipate into the atmosphere. I think the best choice is having both types of nozzles available and selecting the right one for the job. Either way, a smooth bore stream or a straight stream from a combination nozzle is the best choice for interior work. The department decided to investigate this particular topic to determine which nozzle would be more beneficial when a firefighter is in a burning commercial structure. The smooth bore shoots out more water per second but at a straight stream. The combination nozzle shoots out more water droplets at a wider stream. Both processes are functional when putting out a fire. However, the combination nozzle can act as a barrier or wall against flames and smoke because it shoots at such a wide pattern. At the same time because the combination nozzle system shoots out water droplets, the droplets produce steam. The steam that is now present is more harmful to firefighters, which can be prevented by keeping the smooth bore nozzle in place. A direct attack method is designed to extinguish the fire by applying water in a straight or solid stream to the base of the fire. This allows the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Effective communication helps connect with people. It can open many doors for many jobs. It lets the employer know whom they have hired, and how intelligent the person really is. In the business profession, effective communication enables managers to give understandable instructions to their employees. Effective communication will help state what is expected from workers. I believe effective communication can be used in all aspects of the workplace. First, Susan Adams from Forbes wrote Good grammar is important in life. Using correct grammar in the workplace shows the intelligence of the worker. It also shows how well thoughts are put together before speaking. Using good grammar can also show employers that an employee can accomplish other tasks on the job no matter what it is. This means there will be more money left over to use for other expenses. The lower percentage, shown by Yum Brands, suggests that the business produces a very low revenue to pay for expenses. This low gross profit margin usually suggests that either the business is unable to control production and inventory costs or that prices are set too low.3 Using this information we can conclude that the variable cost efficiency is better for a company with a higher gross profit ratio, like Starbucks, than for a company like Yum Brands who produce revenue at a lower level. Despite the legal acceptance of abortion in some countries, the matter remains an ethical concern (Jones Chaloner, 2007). With this is mind, the writer s position is pro life from a deontological perspective. According to the Encyclopaedia Britannica (2015), deontological emphasizes the relationship between duty and morality of human actions. The term deontology derives from the Greek deon, duty, and logos, science. Thus, pro life seek to advocate for the defenseless human being whose life is being unjustly taken away (Alcorn, 1994). Since all human life begins at conception the act of abortion can then be seen as murder because it is the act of taking someone s life. Abortion is an infringement on human life. In retrospect no civil society would allow for someone to take the life of another; for that reason, abortion must be viewed as morally wrong. Subsequently, the bible recognizes no crucial difference between the being in the womb and the being after birth. Hence, from conception and onwards, the individual is a person. Genesis ... One well known sociologist is C. Wright Mills. Mills came up with the concept of sociological imagination. It is used to describe the ability of individuals to think away from routines that they are used to in everyday life and look at them from an entirely new perspective. Using this concept, mills applied it to asking and answering imaginative thoughts of sociological questions. The Security Threats And Security Architecture Design ABSTRACT Among civilian communication systems, vehicular communications emerge as one of the most convincing effort made to enhance safety and improve the efficiency of transportation systems, to meet ever increasing traffic demands. Security is one of the critical factors that need to be addressed towards the deployment of vehicular communication systems. The efficiency of the transportation systems, as well as the physical safety of vehicles, drivers, and passengers depend on the security factor. Vehicular communications has to pass through the analysis of potential security threats and the design of a robust security architecture able to cope with these threats. In this paper we deal with the security threats and security architecture design. INTRODUCTION: Vehicular communications (VC) will play a vital role in enabling safer, smarter and greener transportation, with envisioned applications providing, for example, warnings on environmental hazards (e.g., ice on the pavement), traffic and road conditions (e.g., emergency braking, congestion, or construction sites), and local (e.g., tourist) information. To empower such applications, vehicles and road side infrastructure units (RSUs), namely network nodes, will be furnished with on board processing and wireless communication modules, to communicate with each other over single or multiple hops. Some of the most proscribed drugs today were sold like candy and (quite literally) soda pop. What caused the sudden shift to prohibition? Over time, the perception of drugs changed from objects of medical addiction to articles of immorality, until they were seen primarily as a criminal problem in the 1930 s (Vallance 5). Much of this may have resulted from alcohol Prohibition, which accustomed the American public to substance regulation. At the same time, the typical drug user changed. Before 1914, the average user was typified by the heroin addict Mrs. Dubose in Harper Lee s To Kill A Mockingbird: white, middle class, middle aged, and female. As increasingly large numbers of males, minorities, and the poor began using drugs, people s attitudes towards drugs changed. Duster notes that middle America s moral hostility comes faster and easier when directed toward a young, lower class Negro male, than toward a middle aged, middle class white female (21). Indeed, even drug law crusader James Inciardi concedes that many early drug laws gained support because of racism and xenophobia (Trebach 47). Thus, a demographic shift ...
