Waknuk And The Fringes In The Chrysalids By John Wyndham
People in this world mature in different ways, by the way, they have been affected in their life and it
builds up to someone who has responsibilities as an adult. Our difficult situations make us overcome
our responsibilities and achieve our goals due to our problems. People in communities want to have
safety and be proud of their work in the community that they have made for people who are normal.
The communities of Waknuk and The Fringes in The Chrysalids by John Wyndham are very different
and to overcome their difficulties they use their strengths to achieve goals and bring others down
when the Fringes are trying to overcome adversity and mature by understanding their situation that
they need to overcome. Joseph Storm has rules that are beliefs that have been made for a long period
of time and it leads to people not being allowed to act without clearly proving their point that is not
always accepted because of the beliefs that are not to be changed. In our world, we need the advice to
lead us to our decisions that are not always agreed upon. The goals of the Waknuk community are
strong and hurt others for their differences as a mutant. They are respected, but people have fear and
the Waknuk community is using that for their goals. Joseph Storm does not let anyone accompaniment
their ideas. He sees people not for whom they are, but what they are. When David tells Joseph his idea
that it is not a big deal being a mutant there is no way Joseph could

American vs Guatemalan Constitution
American Constitution

Guatemalan Constitution
A comparative study
The American Constitution has as its precedent, the event when Thomas Jefferson wrote most of the
Declaration of Independence in 1776. Its purpose was to announce to the world that the 13 English
colonies in North America had decided to become independent from England to start a new country;
where their own ideals and precepts were held to make and American Union. The U.S. Constitution
states fundamental principles which guide the United States Government and its laws. When it was
written in 1787, it was the plan that told the commencing country how to form its government. The
Guatemalan Constitution emerged after military leaders faced ... Show more content on

Some of the most important ones contain similitude: For example; the first amendment states that the
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise
thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to
assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. Guatemala s Constitution, in it s
35th and 36th articles, state analogous ideology, affirming the liberty of expression and religion
amongst the inhabitants of the territory; with the exception that the rites or exercise of these liberties
does not imply a public order disruption or the diminish of a third party s inherent rights and liberties.
The religious liberty has been avowed in several prior Constitutions, but was never really applied, due
to the predominance of Roman Catholic principles (inherited from the conquering Spaniards centuries
ago). Another principle is that a well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state,
the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. The military, in Guatemala are in
charge of the defense of the national territory; but the tenancy of defense weapons is permitted as a
constitutional principle as well. This liberty was subsequently limited by a special law that regulated
the matter, stating that individuals must be at least 25 years old to carry

An Organization Is A System
An organization is a system. A system s overall behavior depends on its entire structure, not the sum
of its various parts. The structure determines the various behaviors, which determine the various
events. It is critical that you do not break up a system into silos, but it equally critical that a company
acknowledges its strengths from workforce and keep these smaller systems tied together as one large
system. We will examine how the companies highlighted in the team presentations have achieved this
success. Companies can use pay as a reward or reinforcer. Several of the class presentations discussed
the issue of pay. There was a clear divide in how pay was used. Our evaluation is that the majority of
the presentations used pay as a reward. Our perception is that Park Nicollet (PN) they use pay as a
reinforcer. Luthans and Stajkovic call out in their article, Unless organizational participants are
reinforced for their performance related behaviors, strategies, designs and technologies may have little
impact. (Luthans Stajkovic 1999, p. 52). At PN, the system encourages and reinforces team culture,
collaboration and allowing employees to be actively involved in improvement projects. PN
professionals embrace and enjoy an environment of continuous process improvement. These
opportunities increase the strength and frequency of the collaboration behavior that is needed to a
primary care provider of choice in the market. Most organizations want to be an

Cedia’S Personal Philosophy. Smile I Tell Myself, The Last
Cedia s Personal Philosophy Smile I tell myself, the last thing anyone wants to see is a grumpy or
frowning nurse walking into their room. Be prepared, preparation will make my day function
effortlessly. Let them know it is your pleasure to provide them care and let it show through your
personality. These are just a couple of the things I tell myself before heading in to what I view as the
world s greatest profession. Establishing a basis on how you intend to plan the care of your assigned
patients begins before you even start your shift. The wrong attitude if brought into the door will
dictate the shift and the attitudes of the coworkers. Reports given on the patients and how it is
perceived can also determine how the shift will flow. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Essence of Nursing The essence of nursing to me is presence. When we become tasks oriented and
lose focus of the primary reason we are there that is when the essence of nursing is lost. Unfortunately,
with staff shortages and nurse to patient ratio increasing nurses barely have enough time to go through
the patient s chart let alone give the patient enough time to even build a good rapport. I am a strong
believer in giving patients my undivided attention when I am in the room, I believe in eye contact and
touch therapy to connect with patients. It is that genuine connectedness Being with another when they
are Being most vulnerable, perhaps dying. It is the I Thou relationship rather than I It (Nay, 2010p.
189). What your core values are as a nurse will guide you to be the best nurse possible if you stick to
them, remembering why you choose the profession. Treating your patients, the way you would want
your mother or grandmother to be treated. Dignity and respect should never be compromised when
taking care of patients. I think the thing that we as nurses must remember is that not all personalities
will mess well together but there is always someone on your team that can reach that patient, utilize
them to uphold your values as a nurse to maintain the professionalism needed to preserve the essence
of nursing.
Beliefs and Values As a nurse, you have countless encounters with different patients each having

Renee Cox, An African American Woman And Artist
Renee Cox, as an African American woman and artist, uses her body and identity to start a discussion
on the Black experience in America. Besides representing a population of minority artists, the female
and the non white, her art has affected society with her brazen approach to her craft. Cox s
significance comes from her open display of race and sex. In many of her pieces, nudity and the
celebration of the African American experience is the focus. In addition to this, her medium of choice,
mixed media and photography, is opening an outlet of art that isn t traditionally used. In essence,
Renee Cox is an artist that can pave the way for future artists by diversifying through medium, race,
and sex. Born into an upper middle class family on October 16, 1960, in Colgate, Jamaica, Renee Cox
later moved to Queens, New York at 3 months old. At the age of 14, she moved once again to
Scarsdale, New York. During this time, she was one of seven black families to live in this area. Her
focus on the Black experience in her art can be traced back to this time when she was a part of the
small minority of African Americans residing in this area. This desire to be seen could have been the
leading factor to her interest in the visual arts. As a child, Cox has stated that her first ambition was to
become a filmmaker, I was always interested in the visual...but I had a baby boomer reaction and was
into the immediate gratification of photography as opposed to film, which is a more laborious

French Armistice Day During The First World War
From family to friends to moments of silence, French Armistice Day is different for all. This day is
celebrated due to the anniversary of World War I. Almost a century ago, the first great war ended.
With the end, a new tradition was introduced to the people. On November 11 every year, the French
people celebrate French Armistice Day. Every year on the 11th of November, many people are free of
work for the day. French Armistice Day is a national holiday and all stores, banks, post offices, and
many businesses are closed. However, major highways and transportation hubs are open. In Paris,
some stores and bakeries are open too. It is a day to remember those who died fighting for their
country during the first World War. French Armistice Day ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Great Purge Character Analysis
Another prominent feature of the novel is the effects of the Great Purge on society. Fear and brutality
reigned while logic and decency disappeared. Beginning with fear, this emotion can be seen
throughout the novel. Starting at the beginning of the novel, fear is shown when the police come to
arrest Rubashov. Be quiet, shouted Vassilij, Here is Authority. The woman became quiet at once
(7)...The house was silent after the one shrill woman s cry, but they had the feeling that all inhabitants
were awake in their beds, holding their breath (8). When the people in the house realized the police
were there, they became very quiet and listened. As people were taken away during the purges, people
stayed quiet to avoid becoming involved. This fear is also seen when Richard and Rubashov see a
bodyguard of the regime while meeting. Richard is clearly afraid and stammers heavily (39). Another
important instance of fear was when Michael Bogrov is being led away for execution he shouted for
help, screams, whimpers, and hangs like a doll (144). Another example of fear is Hare lip. While in
the third hearing with Rubashov and Gletkin, Hare lip had a hunted gaze, trembling upper lip, a white
face, and a sunken head he quivered as though struck by a whip and in his eyes appeared the flickering
of naked animal terror (200 211). He clearly was terrified and was only offering this testimony due to
a desire to stay alive. The book mentioned that Hare lip looked utterly destroyed the

For instance: one Sunday afternoon Jimmy was in the backyard playing on the swing set, Jimmy s
mother yelled outside for Jimmy to come in and clean up his bedroom, at that moment Jimmy began
to throw himself on the ground, screaming so loud that the neighbors could hear him, kicking his feet
so hard he could have dug a hole in the ground where he was laying, and pounding his fists so rigid,
you could see the color of his fingers turning purple; this tantrum lasted for over two minutes until
Jimmy s mother went back into the house leaving Jimmy to continue to play outside instead of coming
in to clean his room. Another instance: Jimmy and his parents had gone to the local market to pick up
some groceries for dinner, while standing in the checkout line Jimmy asked his father to buy him a
candy bar; knowing that in doing so this would ruin Jimmy s appetite for dinner, Jimmy s dad said no .
Instantly Jimmy threw himself of the floor of the market, began to screaming at the top of his lungs,
crying, and kicking his feet with the intensity of almost breaking his toes; this tantrum lasted for three
minutes until Jimmy s father decided to give Jimmy the candy bar to get him to stop throwing a
tantrum . It is important to note that during these so called tantrums ; Jimmy does not show any
aggression toward either parent. Antecedent stimuli could be very useful in assessing the target

Cerebellum Vs Cerebrum Research Paper
The cerebrum is the largest portion of the human brain. It takes up about 4/5 of the weight of the brain
and has what is described as a wrinkled cortex. Wrinkled cortex increases the surface area of which
increases the number of neurons. This makes human brain to be more efficient than other vertebrates (
Cerebrum vs Cerebellum, n.d.). The cerebrum in divided by the cerebral fissure, which separates it
into two hemispheres, the left and right which is being further discussed by a fellow classmate. The
two hemispheres are connected by the corpus callosum. Both hemispheres can also be divided into
four lobes which we know as the frontal, parietal, temporal, and occiptal lobes. The frontal lobe helps

Sociological Theory And Symbolic Interactionism In Nursing
Define and describing Symbolic Interactionism
Nursing has many philosophies and theories that have been developed over time. In nursing, it is
essential to understand the patient and the way that they experience health and illness in the healthcare
setting. This understanding allows the nurses and the healthcare team to properly provide care to
patients. This falls under that theory of symbolic interactionism. Symbolic interactionism, a major
sociological theory, relates symbolic meanings which individuals develop and rely upon in the process
of social interaction. Symbolic interactionism examines the meanings developed from the mutual
interaction of individuals in a social environment with other individuals and focused on the meanings
and symbols from the interaction between people (Aksan et al., 2009). These meanings that are
evolved from individuals are shared among other individuals as well.
George Herbert Mead was a very influential figure in the history of American philosophy. Mead
developed symbolic interactionism where he believed that mind and ego were the products of society.
It was believed that symbols grew in mind and used as methods of thinking and communication. Mead
focused on how people interact in their daily lives utilizing symbolic interaction and how they create
order and meaning. In one of Mead s writings, Mind, Self and Society, he goes on to describe the way
a person s mind in addition to themselves ascends from the social process. Mead

The Terrace At Vernon
The three different types of color presented in various works in chapter 6 were local, perceptual, and
arbitrary. Local color is the easiest to understand as it is the typical color of items that we see when
pictured in our head. According to Sayre, it is the color we know an object to be, the way we know a
banana is yellow. (Sayre, 126) A good artist s example is Jane Hammond s Fallen, which exhibits a
stereotypical fall scene with a twist. Perceptual color is the way it is see from the eye, which depends
on lighting factors. Monet is a good example of an impressionist painter who tried to paint exactly
what his eyes were seeing rather than what the color was supposed to be. The last concept is arbitrary
color, which is a more expressive take on color, and usually replaces local colors with other ones that
are out of the ordinary but yet fit within the painting, Pierre Bonnard s The Terrace at Vernon is a good
example of this expressive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Color in this piece is used in a warming way. It is considered local because when we think of fall we
think of leaves on the ground and in all of these color variations. What this work is really showing is
somewhat of a healing aspiration since each leaf is sewn on with a fallen soldiers name from Iraq. As
noted in the book, there is no actual brown leaves, but the vast warm color spectrum makes it appear
that there are in fact brow leaves. Without color this would not be as effective. The color for me makes
it seem as if each solider matters. Asides from the color individuality this work presents, it does all
bring everyone together in one place, as the leaves are grouped together so these soldiers can be
together as collective fallen group. Color is also helping inforce the representational theme of this
work since without the typical fall colors this wouldn t be a local color piece, nor completely

Handmaids Tale and 1984
How far is language a tool of oppression in The Handmaid s Tale and Nineteen Eighty Four ?
Most dystopian novels contain themes of corruption and oppression, therefore in both The Handmaid s
Tale and Nineteen Eighty Four language is obviously used as a form of the states control, enabling
dystopian leaders to remain in power by manipulating language to restrict free thought. Orwell and
Atwood have utilized language as a key tool of oppression throughout their novels. The use of
language is mostly repressive, language can also be seen as liberating, and used as an act of rebellion,
which the state wishes to eliminate.
The novel Nineteen Eighty Four contains a world in which language is being systematically corrupted.

The Ministry of peace concerned itself with war , The Ministry of Truth dedicated itself to destroying
the truth and The Ministry of Love was described as frightening with gorilla faced guards. This brings
forth the idea that the state are trying to subtly manipulate society however they are a threat. In
addition the face of the party Big Brother is extremely ironic as Orwell uses this as a tactic to make
you feel reassured. This is because the word Big Brother is an example of a double entendre as a big
brother is commonly associated with protection, care and love which is the extreme opposite in this
case as the party seeks power...for its own sake conveying the irony further as it is not what it seems at
first glance. The constant motif of BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU exemplifies the idea they
will always try to control you, and they have great power. The fact that Orwell chose these names is a
reflection of the Party s of the brainwashing of their society and the desire for control over the people.
It is a warning as it emphasises the abusive nature of dictators, as they use psychological manipulation
as a means of control. The use of names in Nineteen Eighty Four presents a false sense of security and
desirability to citizens, as it makes the state appear friendly and trust worthy regardless of their
demeaning acts. The slogan of the

Logistics Design Alternatives to United Parcel Service
The United Parcel Service is one of the largest companies in the global courier delivery service
industry, with a net income of about $3 billion and revenues exceeding $53 billion. Headquartered in
the United States, a large part of UPS s market share and revenues come from the business it conducts
in Europe. The logistics design of UPS has three distinct functions, consolidation, distribution, and
fragmentation. Consolidation is the collection of parcels to then be sent to distribution. Distribution
works on a hub to hub basis with distance determining what mode of transportation will be used (Air
or Ground). Fragmentation is the final design step in the UPS logistics design, combined with
consolidation for the most part; this function is where products are delivered to their final destination.
These basic functions have kept UPS a world leader in the logistics field and well ahead of their
competitors. Benjamin Franklin once said Without continual growth and progress, such words as
improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning (Brainy quote, 2014). UPS is continually
striving to improve their logistical operations. With over 90,000 ground vehicles in the UPS fleet, it is
hard to imagine how much money they are spending on gasoline. The fragmentation and consolidation
function of UPS make up the majority of the vehicle usage within UPS, they have set fuel efficiency
goals for their fleet aiming for a 20% increase in MPG between the years 2000 and 2020.

Summary Of The Revolution Will Not Be Televised
P 1: The Revolution Will Not Be Televised is a poem and song by Gil Scott Heron. It was written in
1970 for his album Small Talk at 125th and Lenox . During this time there was a profound shift in the
struggle for equality as the fight for civil rights gave way to the demand for Black Power. Scott Heron
tried to attract and encourage all people to continue being actively involved in the revolution and not
to just watch it from a safe distance. He also warned people to be wary of the media and their
portrayal of African American society. The song looks at the power of the media not just in observing
society s politics but in shaping them. He reminds us that big corporations own everything we see on
television and even when we do get involved in the revolution, there will be no news coverage on it.
The song aims to denounce the elusive nature of political culture in Nixon s America, and the inability
of the mainstream to capture the real heart of the people (Smith). The Revolution Will Not Be

the message. The revolution is happening now. It is a live event. Even if the mainstream media and

1. How do stroke survivors (or others with a chronic illness) and health care providers remain hopeful

I believe the way individuals who suffer from chronic illness or are recovering from incidences,
remain hopeful and realistic by utilizing their support system, understanding that progress cannot
occur overnight, and by reveling in the small accomplishments which are motivating. In the book, The

2. Those with a devastating illness often have a need to tell their stories. How can others ensure that
they are able to tell their stories, and how does telling one s story impact the way patients are treated?
Sometimes listening is the best way to help someone out. I believe that someone would be able to
make sure a person story was told by listening and possibly sharing the experience with others. In the
case of Jean Dominique, he utilized a book contract he had before the accident to express his story.
Through this book I could visual all the amazing traveling expeditions he went on. When he talked
about walking down the street of Lourdes and seeing all the people making their way down this path
hoping for a miracle, it struck me. He was able to discuss this event and relate it to his current
predicament. I feel like in other instances, a person can tell their stories through vocal recordings,
speaking with loved ones, creating illustrations, or even sharing pictures. A person might take part in
one of those activities and then ask or make note of their wishes for those stories to be shared. My
grandmother passed not too long ago, and I know that whenever I get a change I try to talk about her
life and even try to learn more about the experiences she had. When I learn of new things about her, I

Duarte, dona Jauna was always respected in the town. One day in 1920, Duarte decided to leave. He
went home to his other family in Chivilcoy. Dona Juana had to fend for the family herself. They were
forced to move from their nice home on Main Street, to a more run down portion of the village. One
January day in 1926, the Duartes heard news that Juan had been killed in an automobile accident.
Dona Juana packed up her children, and they all went to attend the wake. Unfortunately, Duarte s legal
wife refused to let the children or dona Juana see the body. It was not until the widow s brother, the
mayor of Chivilcoy, interceded that the children were allowed to say good bye to their

How to Find the Perfect Roommate
Facing the fact that you have to find the perfect roommate you have to make a decision about what the
ideal roommate would be for you. Just because you are best friends with someone or your friend
suggested that you live with them doesn t necessarily mean that they will be the ideal roommate for
you. If you have determined what you are looking for in a roommate you can begin your search.
You would first have to go through all of your friends to see if they were looking for a place to stay.
The first step should always be asking your friends or people you know if they are looking for a place
or if they know someone who is. If you already recognize the person, or know someone who will give

Mark Cuban Leadership Style
When Mark Cuban was 12, he sold garbage bags door to door to pay for a pair of expensive basketball
shoes he wanted. Cuban is now an extremely successful entrepreneur with a net worth of about 2.6
billion dollars. His fortune came mainly from a business he created called Broadcast.com, originally
Audionet, which he sold to Yahoo! for 5.7 billion. He now owns the Dallas Mavericks NBA team and
stars on Shark Tank. After making a comment about a referee that he wouldn t hire to manage a Dairy
Queen, Cuban went to work at one for a day. Mark Cuban is an admirable person because he is

I can see this principle in action from what he says about politics. In an interview with Business
Insider, he says, I don t want to be a Democrat. Until things change, I ll sit in the middle and think for
myself. Unlike the Republicans. When I was young, my mom always told me to be a leader, not a
follower. Cuban directly explains this concept from what he says. He will not believe what everyone
says just to fit in, he will tell then what he thinks. And if they won t let him join their party because of
it, so be it. Just like other great leaders such as Martin Luther King, Jr and Abraham Lincoln, he isn t
afraid to say I disagree . Another way he shows that he understands how to be a leader is in another
quote from the same interview. He states, Leaders are not dogmatic. They are principled and know
that change is never easy, but when it s necessary, they must lead. Nobody can understand principles
unless they themselves are principled. Cuban also reveals his leadership through the way he runs his
companies. There are a lot of companies that are under his authority, such as the Dallas Mavericks,
AXS TV, Landmark Theatres, and Magnolia Pictures (markcubancompanies.com). He doesn t appoint
CEOs, so he himself does a lot of work. Mark Cuban s personality is full of principles that every
billionaire should have. He is determined to make money. He uses his wealth for good instead of evil.

The Man And Legend Essay
Can We Attain an Equal America? ;
Can we really achieve equality? I do believe it is possible but it is obvious that there is no single
answer to such a question. Everyone has their own opinion in regards to this question, however those
opinions are useless unless they are actually carried out. According to W.E.B. DuBois racial equality
can be achieved through the talented tenth, ; an African American elite that would be leaders and role
models for the rest of the black community. In The Future of the Race, Henry Louis Gates, Jr., and
Cornel West address the topic of Dubois 1903 essay The Talented Tenth. ; When it comes to achieving

Malcolm X declares that if it is right for America to draft us and teach us how to be violent in defense
of the country, then isn t right for you and me to do whatever is necessary to defend our own people
right here in this country. ;(89) Consequently, he believed that only through revolution and force could
blacks attain their rightful place in society. In one of his speeches Malcolm X encouraged blacks to
hate whites and to revolt against them. He claims that revolution is bloody, revolution is hostile,
revolution knows no compromise, revolution overturns and destroys everything that gets in it way. ;
However, when he later broke free from the black Muslim movement began emphasizing unity and
change through black pride and respect for oneself rather than through hate and revenge. He told
blacks that if they had any chance of blacks attaining equality, then their first priority would be to gain
self respect and join together in a group effort to combat racist views. (253)
I believe that there is one main problem that hinders the idea of having a group effort to achieve
equality. That is that our minds seem to support and defend our own reasoning and actions, whether
they are right or wrong. We have to learn how to admit being wrong. I simply can t believe that people
find racism as a way of life. However, it all comes down to what you learn when you re a child.

Characteristics Of An Effective Teacher
Average teachers teach a skill, until students get it right. Highly effective teachers work with students
until they can t get it wrong (Jensen, 2016). An effective teacher makes good use of instructional time
and inspires students to do well and to know more. Each and every student in the class has to feel
comfortable and have the sense of belonging. The classroom has to be conducive to learning and has
the proper lighting so that learning can easily take place. Effective teachers are required to put in extra
time, work and commitment therefore; characteristics of an effective teacher would include positive
expectation, classroom management, and lesson mastery.
An effective teacher needs to plan ahead therefore he should incorporate classroom management.
Classroom management and management of student conduct are skills that teachers acquire and hone
over time and they should be flexible to take control of any situation. Also, teachers are values
oriented mentor and skills such as effective classroom management are central to teaching and require
common sense, consistency, and courage. These skills also require that teachers understand in more
than one way the psychological and developmental levels of their students. The skills associated with
effective classroom management are only acquired with practice, feedback, and a willingness to learn
from mistakes.
Classroom management is important because it engages students in learning in an organized and

include organizing and planning the trip, balancing the amount of activities in a specific time frame,
stepping outside your comfort zone trying new things, and establishing a deep connection with nature.
Planning Things Ahead of Time
Organizing each activity in advance would release the burden of winging it. On the flip side, planning
things ahead of time could also become extremely challenging because it requires lots of research,
which is a time consuming task. This could become an inconvenience for a business person with many
responsibilities on their plate because they do not have the time to spare. Well, there is light at the end
of the tunnel! Setting up a Jet Boat Adventure Tour will relieve all the stress and pain associated with
planning a trip because the company owning the tour does all the research and preparation work for
you.

different things is a great way to really enjoy a vacation. Travelers with an adventurous spirit will

The Importance Of Love In Romeo And Juliet
Now many would call Romeo and Juliet the play that teaches us that love, at first sight, is real. While
reading this play the only thing the audience will be able to understand from this story is that love
holds no bounds, that some love is forever. In class, we came to the conclusion that this play is about
immature, naive, stubborn kids who do not understand the concept of what real love is. Their demised
stemmed from a fast paced relationship which bloomed from rejection. Stupidity, naivety,
stubbornness, and immaturity are all traits that may be used to describe Romeo Montague. Now, these
traits shaped Romeo to be the most irresponsible guy ever which lead him and his supposed love to
their demise. Now it is not to be said that Juliet was not at fault, on the contrary, she is also to blame
for their demise because the traits Romeo has she seems to have too. Most of these ideas seem pretty
petty for older people, which is why it weighs so heavy on them, they are children, if they would have
waited to even commence their relationship they would have outgrown most of these traits and their
demise may have been avoided altogether. At the beginning of the play, we see Romeo carry the same
feelings that he expresses for Juliet for someone else. Before there was Juliet in Romeo s life there
was Rosaline, another Capulet. If you see how Romeo expresses his feelings for Rosaline, you can see
that it is the same way he later expresses them for Juliet. An example of this would be

Similarities Between Confucianism And Buddhism
There are a number of similarities between the eastern religions and philosophies of Confucianism,
Buddhism and Hinduism. While Hinduism is centered around a supreme being, Buddhism and
Confucianism are centered around the teachings of a man. Each encourages moral behavior, ethical
values, such as non violence, charity, and a respect for the universe. To better understand the
philosophical similarities and differences between Confucianism, Buddhism and Hinduism, it is
important first to consider the teachings of Buddha, Patanjali and Confucius in their historical context.
Buddhism is a tradition that evolved from the original teachings of Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha
or Enlightened One. Buddha was born a Hindu in about 563 B.C.E. He was of aristocratic birth and
grew up in relative luxury and the security of the ruling class of that period. At age twenty nine, he
tired of his comfortable existence and renounced the world and went in search of wisdom. Tradition
states that he attained enlightenment on a full moon day in May under a fig tree. According to Buddha
s teachings, the purpose of life is to end suffering and develop compassion for all living things without
discrimination. He taught that meditation must be used to move beyond selfish concerns and desires.
Only by quieting the mind can people connect with the power of the larger universe and reach a state
of enlightenment and peace. Buddha s teaching, or dharma, begins with the Four Noble Truths. He

The Awakening Personality Traits
In Kate Chopin s novel, The Awakening, the main character, Edna Pontellier, has three distinct
personality traits that define her throughout the book. One of her most perceptible traits is her
irresponsibility, especially in how she cares for her children and husband. Related to this peculiarity, is
her capacity to behave childish, particularly in terms of how she allows her emotions to sweep her
away as well as her inability to think about the potential consequences. Her most prominent
personality trait the one that forms the backbone of the conflict, is Edna s eagerness to defy society
and the roles given to women. These traits are consistent throughout the novel and while the character

Children Should Be Taught In Public Schools
An undeniable fact in our life is that some children are more intelligent or capable than their peers.
However, whether these children should be taught separately has long been a topic of debate.
If students with different abilities are put in the same class the first benefit is that they can learn from
each other and draw on other people s strengths. A mathematical genius may be poor in arts or sports
and this is what he can improve by interacting with his classmates. Also why we object to separate
teaching is that teachers tend to pay more attention to those with better academic results which may
give students in the slow class a sense of discrimination.
However, some people believe that children should be put in different classes according to their
abilities. This mode enables students particularly those intelligent ones to fully develop their ... Show

and learning in our schools. In addition to standardized teaching plans some extracurricular programs

Matthew 24 42-44 Essay
In the passage from Matthew 24:42 44, the reader is taught to be ever vigilant for the time of the
second coming of Christ is unknown. Vigilance is defined in the passage through the use of the home
owner and the thief analogy. If the home owner knew when the thief was coming to the house, that
home owner would be ready to foil the thief. This passage fits in with the stories immediately
surrounding it to show a bit about Jesus heart and a message from Matthew as to how Christ followers
should behave.
When the passage in Matthew 24:42 44 is looked at in the context of the stories surrounding, it one
can see how Jesus cares for His followers. From about the fourth verse of chapter 24 though the
thirteenth verse of the following chapter, Jesus tells about the end of days. The time when He will
come to judge the world. Beginning in verse thirty six, Jesus speaks of being vigilant, this culminates
in the parable of the ten virgins found in the first thirteen verses of chapter 25. This selection of text

A definitive description of Huntington s Chorea occurred, when George Huntington submitted his
article On chorea to the Medical and Surgical Reporter of Philadelphia, USA, in 1872, 31 years after
Waters gave his description of the disorder. Waters described a disorder which is markedly hereditary,
very rarely makes its appearance before adult life, in all cases induces a state of more or less perfect
dementia and never ceases while life lasts . The disease was recorded early on by observers; however
Waters description was the first detailed description of the disease. It is believed that the disease was
present among the population at a much earlier date as it is caused by a dominant allele. Because of its
long history, and the fact that the mutation rate for Huntington s chorea is among the lowest recorded
for any inherited condition, the disease has great potential in genealogical investigations. The
Afrikaner population posed as a great source to study the disease because of the excellent recording of
the origins and history of the Afrikaner nation. The excellent documentation facilitated efforts to trace
the disease back to the earliest transmission of the gene to South Africa.
In their research they found that the only previous attempt to investigate the genealogy of this disease

NKF s management might seem to not have taken donors opinions into consideration and hence
portrayed the image of mismanaging donations. However, it would be unfair to not point out how not
all stakeholders are equal and each is entitled to different considerations. Expectations differ across
stakeholders and decisions made would more often than not lead to a conflict of interest but following
the principle of utilitarianism, it is up to the discretion of the organisation to balance their decisions
and decide how best to appease the majority. An example would be NKF s dilemma of whether to
disclose the salary of the CEO; not doing so would result in accusations of not being transparent while
disclosing it might lead to criticism of charity leaders being too highly paid. The interests of the CEO
and the donors are at conflict.
Alternative Theoretical Perspectives
Having received the National Youth Excellence Award in 1976 and practiced as a lawyer for 6 years2,
Durai could be seen as a leader with strong self efficacy and self esteem. He valued new challenges
more than conformity and challenged society s perspective of managing a charity. His refreshing
approaches to branding and fund raising led to staff costs incurred by the many fund raising activities
to be higher than that of staff cost for dialysis treatment, which was not on the same page as what
external stakeholders (donors and society) would expect from a charity.

Cain Traditions
The lineages which proceeded from the lines of Seth and Cain became two societies with distinct
opposing qualities; Seth s line was faithful to God, Cain s was not; and in the end, the legacy of Cain

being raised in the same environment, Cain s character was vastly different from that of Abel. When
Abel s animal offering was accepted by God, and Cain s fruit offering was not, Cain became jealous of

4:8, 16). Adam and Eve were given another son, named Seth, to replace Abel (Genesis 4:25). The
lineage of Seth consisted of those who were faithful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the years progressed, the population of the earth began to grow exponentially, and the line of Seth
began to marry those in the line of Cain (Genesis 6:2). They were obviously influenced by Cain s
culture, since they committed bigamy in taking wives of all which they chose (Genesis 6:2). We see
that the earth was filled with violence, and by this we can infer that they inherited this trait from Cain
s line as well (Genesis 6:11). Because of the intermarriage of the ancestral lines, the men on earth
inherited great intelligence, being giants of mental power, and as the generations continued, became
men of renown just as Lamech s children (Genesis 6:4). God was grieved that He had created man,
and found it more merciful to destroy them than to allow the incredible sin to continue (Genesis 6:6
7). But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord, and we can see in chapter 5 verses 3 32 that he was
directly related to Seth (Genesis 6:9). His family was chosen by God to be the line from which all
generations would follow, and by this sparing Seth s lineage would be kept pure (Genesis 6:18). In
chapter 6 verse 13, God states that He will destroy [the wicked] with the earth. The Hebrew word for
with here can be translated as by , and by this we observe that the earth was wicked through them, and
they will be destroyed by that which they corrupted (Genesis

Analysis Of Sartre s The Gambler Essay
Sartre argues that one breaks their resolution because of his/her freedom and anguish of the past. He
uses a gambler as an example. The gambler makes a resolution to stop gambling, but when he sees a
gambling table he rethinks the resolution. According to Sartre, the gambler is in anguish because of
his freedom to gamble. Sartre writes that the gambler perceive[s] with anguish that nothing prevents
him from gambling (Sartre, 70). The anguish provoked comes from the freedom to break the
resolution. The gambler made the resolution in the past to stop gambling, but when he sees the
gambling table he has to remake his decision because the resolution is not set in stone. He stands there
in nothingness as he contemplates what to do realizing that there is nothing in his way of gambling.
This freedom to make a new decision presents itself as anguish. It is a constantly renewed obligation
to remake the self which designates the free being (Sartre, 72). The gambler wants to no longer live in
the past through following the resolution, but instead wants to become his future self. If the gambler
changes himself his anguish will be removed for the moment. Although the outcome with the gambler
was not stated, it can be assumed that he started gambling again to remove the anguish. Some people
may look at the gambling as an addiction. These people would argue that it is not the anguish created
by the power of freedom that brings a gambler back to gambling, but rather the chemicals in

United States Dollar as Reserve Currency
In February of 2011, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) shocked the world by calling for the
United States dollar to be replaced as the global world currency (Rooney, 2011). In one report, the
world s dirty little monetary secret had been exposed; faith in the US dollar was faltering. Since then,
international attitudes toward the US dollar have only gotten worse. With 2013 debt at approximately
105 percent of gross domestic product and a negative outlook rating from Standard s and Poor, the
United States is looking like an insolvent bank no one wants to keep their money in. In addition, the
dollar has lost 97 percent of its value since being taken off the gold standard in 1971 (Mack, 2011).
This makes holding the dollar long term a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While it is said the dollar is now back by the full faith and credit of the United States, this faith and
credit is largely treasury bonds, or debt, much of which are held overseas by foreign governments.
Ever since the US dollar went off the gold standard in 1971, other countries have had doubts about
keeping the dollar as the world s reserve currency. The first concern was that no fiat currency has
succeeded long term. In a study of 775 fiat currencies (Mack, 2011), there was no historical
precedence for a fiat currency that has succeeded in holding its value. 20 percent failed through
hyperinflation, 21 percent were destroyed by war, 12 percent destroyed by independence, 24 percent
were monetarily reformed, and 23 percent are still in circulation approaching one of the other
outcomes (Mack, 2011). The average life expectancy for a fiat currency is 27 years, with the shortest
life span being one month (Mack, 2011). It is one thing if an individual country s fiat currency
collapses, but if a world reserve currency collapses, such as the US dollar, the world s economy will
collapse with it.
Another issue is the dramatic drop in the value in the dollar. As stated earlier, the US dollar has lost 97
percent of its value since being taken off the gold standard in 1971 (Mack, 2011). Not only does a
weaker dollar translate into a cut in the real spending power of American consumers, it makes the
dollar a very poor investment for investors and central banks around the

George Orson Welles Citizen Kane
George Orson Welles was born on May 6, 1915, in Kenosha, Wisconsin. His Parents were Richard and
Beatrice Welles. His father, Richard, made a lot of money by inventing a carbide lamp for bicycles and
Beatrice was a concert pianist who taught Orson how to play the piano and violin. In 1919, Orson just
four years old, Richard and Beatrice got divorced. Sadly, Beatrice died of jaundice when he was only
nine years old. Richard s success and wealth began to drop. He started drinking to wash away the
stress and died when Orson was thirteen years old. Maurice Bernstein became Orson s full time
guardian until he was fifteen years old. She saw his talent and enrolled him in the Todd School in
Woodstock, Illinois. There he found his passion for theater. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The deal him total creative control and a percentage of the profits. He started and then stopped an
attempt of Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness. It was similar to his actual debut film called Citizen
Kane in 1941. Citizen Kane told the story of newspaperman Charles Foster Kane, played by Orson,
tracing his rise to power and his eventual corruption from his power. Kane was modeled after William
Randolph Hearst. The film made Hearst mad and he refused to mention the movie in his newspapers.
This didn t help the movie which already had bad box office numbers. American Film Institute and
British Film Institute both rated Citizen Kane the best film of all time. It was also nominated for nine
academy awards and won for best screenplay. Orson was in the middle of filming The Other Side of
the Wind, which was never finished, and he couldn t afford to pay cinematographer, so he gave him
his Oscar. The second film is called The Magnificent Ambersons in 1942. Toward the end of filming
Orson went to Rio for a documentary. When he returned he found that RKO made its own ending of
the movie. After learning this, Orson left the movie. He married Rita Hayworth in 1943 and starred in
Jane Eyre the following February. He then directed The Stranger (1946) and Macbeth (1948) the same
year he divorced Hayworth and began what amounted to a ten year self imposed exile from
Hollywood. He later appeared The

  • 2. Waknuk And The Fringes In The Chrysalids By John Wyndham People in this world mature in different ways, by the way, they have been affected in their life and it builds up to someone who has responsibilities as an adult. Our difficult situations make us overcome our responsibilities and achieve our goals due to our problems. People in communities want to have safety and be proud of their work in the community that they have made for people who are normal. The communities of Waknuk and The Fringes in The Chrysalids by John Wyndham are very different and to overcome their difficulties they use their strengths to achieve goals and bring others down when the Fringes are trying to overcome adversity and mature by understanding their situation that they need to overcome. Joseph Storm has rules that are beliefs that have been made for a long period of time and it leads to people not being allowed to act without clearly proving their point that is not always accepted because of the beliefs that are not to be changed. In our world, we need the advice to lead us to our decisions that are not always agreed upon. The goals of the Waknuk community are strong and hurt others for their differences as a mutant. They are respected, but people have fear and the Waknuk community is using that for their goals. Joseph Storm does not let anyone accompaniment their ideas. He sees people not for whom they are, but what they are. When David tells Joseph his idea that it is not a big deal being a mutant there is no way Joseph could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Renee Cox, An African American Woman And Artist Renee Cox, as an African American woman and artist, uses her body and identity to start a discussion on the Black experience in America. Besides representing a population of minority artists, the female and the non white, her art has affected society with her brazen approach to her craft. Cox s significance comes from her open display of race and sex. In many of her pieces, nudity and the celebration of the African American experience is the focus. In addition to this, her medium of choice, mixed media and photography, is opening an outlet of art that isn t traditionally used. In essence, Renee Cox is an artist that can pave the way for future artists by diversifying through medium, race, and sex. Born into an upper middle class family on October 16, 1960, in Colgate, Jamaica, Renee Cox later moved to Queens, New York at 3 months old. At the age of 14, she moved once again to Scarsdale, New York. During this time, she was one of seven black families to live in this area. Her focus on the Black experience in her art can be traced back to this time when she was a part of the small minority of African Americans residing in this area. This desire to be seen could have been the leading factor to her interest in the visual arts. • 8. The Great Purge Character Analysis Another prominent feature of the novel is the effects of the Great Purge on society. Fear and brutality reigned while logic and decency disappeared. Beginning with fear, this emotion can be seen throughout the novel. Starting at the beginning of the novel, fear is shown when the police come to arrest Rubashov. Be quiet, shouted Vassilij, Here is Authority. The woman became quiet at once (7)...The house was silent after the one shrill woman s cry, but they had the feeling that all inhabitants were awake in their beds, holding their breath (8). When the people in the house realized the police were there, they became very quiet and listened. As people were taken away during the purges, people stayed quiet to avoid becoming involved. This fear is also seen when Richard and Rubashov see a bodyguard of the regime while meeting. Richard is clearly afraid and stammers heavily (39). Another important instance of fear was when Michael Bogrov is being led away for execution he shouted for help, screams, whimpers, and hangs like a doll (144). Another example of fear is Hare lip. While in the third hearing with Rubashov and Gletkin, Hare lip had a hunted gaze, trembling upper lip, a white face, and a sunken head he quivered as though struck by a whip and in his eyes appeared the flickering of naked animal terror (200 211). • 12. Sociological Theory And Symbolic Interactionism In Nursing Define and describing Symbolic Interactionism Nursing has many philosophies and theories that have been developed over time. In nursing, it is essential to understand the patient and the way that they experience health and illness in the healthcare setting. This understanding allows the nurses and the healthcare team to properly provide care to patients. This falls under that theory of symbolic interactionism. Symbolic interactionism, a major sociological theory, relates symbolic meanings which individuals develop and rely upon in the process of social interaction. Symbolic interactionism examines the meanings developed from the mutual interaction of individuals in a social environment with other individuals and focused on the meanings and symbols from the interaction between people (Aksan et al., 2009). These meanings that are evolved from individuals are shared among other individuals as well. George Herbert Mead was a very influential figure in the history of American philosophy. Mead developed symbolic interactionism where he believed that mind and ego were the products of society. It was believed that symbols grew in mind and used as methods of thinking and communication. Mead focused on how people interact in their daily lives utilizing symbolic interaction and how they create order and meaning. In one of Mead s writings, Mind, Self and Society, he goes on to describe the way a person s mind in addition to themselves ascends from the social process. Mead ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. The Terrace At Vernon The three different types of color presented in various works in chapter 6 were local, perceptual, and arbitrary. Local color is the easiest to understand as it is the typical color of items that we see when pictured in our head. According to Sayre, it is the color we know an object to be, the way we know a banana is yellow. (Sayre, 126) A good artist s example is Jane Hammond s Fallen, which exhibits a stereotypical fall scene with a twist. Perceptual color is the way it is see from the eye, which depends on lighting factors. Monet is a good example of an impressionist painter who tried to paint exactly what his eyes were seeing rather than what the color was supposed to be. The last concept is arbitrary color, which is a more expressive take on color, and usually replaces local colors with other ones that are out of the ordinary but yet fit within the painting, Pierre Bonnard s The Terrace at Vernon is a good example of this expressive ... As noted in the book, there is no actual brown leaves, but the vast warm color spectrum makes it appear that there are in fact brow leaves. Without color this would not be as effective. The color for me makes it seem as if each solider matters. Asides from the color individuality this work presents, it does all bring everyone together in one place, as the leaves are grouped together so these soldiers can be together as collective fallen group. Logistics Design Alternatives to United Parcel Service The United Parcel Service is one of the largest companies in the global courier delivery service industry, with a net income of about $3 billion and revenues exceeding $53 billion. Headquartered in the United States, a large part of UPS s market share and revenues come from the business it conducts in Europe. The logistics design of UPS has three distinct functions, consolidation, distribution, and fragmentation. Consolidation is the collection of parcels to then be sent to distribution. Distribution works on a hub to hub basis with distance determining what mode of transportation will be used (Air or Ground). Fragmentation is the final design step in the UPS logistics design, combined with consolidation for the most part; this function is where products are delivered to their final destination. These basic functions have kept UPS a world leader in the logistics field and well ahead of their competitors. Benjamin Franklin once said Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning (Brainy quote, 2014). It was written in 1970 for his album Small Talk at 125th and Lenox . During this time there was a profound shift in the struggle for equality as the fight for civil rights gave way to the demand for Black Power. Scott Heron tried to attract and encourage all people to continue being actively involved in the revolution and not to just watch it from a safe distance. He also warned people to be wary of the media and their portrayal of African American society. The song looks at the power of the media not just in observing society s politics but in shaping them. He reminds us that big corporations own everything we see on television and even when we do get involved in the revolution, there will be no news coverage on it. While reading this play the only thing the audience will be able to understand from this story is that love holds no bounds, that some love is forever. In class, we came to the conclusion that this play is about immature, naive, stubborn kids who do not understand the concept of what real love is. Their demised stemmed from a fast paced relationship which bloomed from rejection. Stupidity, naivety, stubbornness, and immaturity are all traits that may be used to describe Romeo Montague. Now, these traits shaped Romeo to be the most irresponsible guy ever which lead him and his supposed love to their demise. Now it is not to be said that Juliet was not at fault, on the contrary, she is also to blame for their demise because the traits Romeo has she seems to have too. Most of these ideas seem pretty petty for older people, which is why it weighs so heavy on them, they are children, if they would have waited to even commence their relationship they would have outgrown most of these traits and their demise may have been avoided altogether. At the beginning of the play, we see Romeo carry the same feelings that he expresses for Juliet for someone else. Before there was Juliet in Romeo s life there was Rosaline, another Capulet. We see that the earth was filled with violence, and by this we can infer that they inherited this trait from Cain s line as well (Genesis 6:11). Because of the intermarriage of the ancestral lines, the men on earth inherited great intelligence, being giants of mental power, and as the generations continued, became men of renown just as Lamech s children (Genesis 6:4). • 43. Analysis Of Sartre s The Gambler Essay Sartre argues that one breaks their resolution because of his/her freedom and anguish of the past. He uses a gambler as an example. The gambler makes a resolution to stop gambling, but when he sees a gambling table he rethinks the resolution. According to Sartre, the gambler is in anguish because of his freedom to gamble. Sartre writes that the gambler perceive[s] with anguish that nothing prevents him from gambling (Sartre, 70). The anguish provoked comes from the freedom to break the resolution. The gambler made the resolution in the past to stop gambling, but when he sees the gambling table he has to remake his decision because the resolution is not set in stone. He stands there in nothingness as he contemplates what to do realizing that there is nothing in his way of gambling. This freedom to make a new decision presents itself as anguish. It is a constantly renewed obligation to remake the self which designates the free being (Sartre, 72). The gambler wants to no longer live in the past through following the resolution, but instead wants to become his future self. If the gambler changes himself his anguish will be removed for the moment. Although the outcome with the gambler was not stated, it can be assumed that he started gambling again to remove the anguish. Some people may look at the gambling as an addiction. • 44. United States Dollar as Reserve Currency In February of 2011, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) shocked the world by calling for the United States dollar to be replaced as the global world currency (Rooney, 2011). In one report, the world s dirty little monetary secret had been exposed; faith in the US dollar was faltering. Since then, international attitudes toward the US dollar have only gotten worse. With 2013 debt at approximately 105 percent of gross domestic product and a negative outlook rating from Standard s and Poor, the United States is looking like an insolvent bank no one wants to keep their money in. In addition, the dollar has lost 97 percent of its value since being taken off the gold standard in 1971 (Mack, 2011). This makes holding the dollar long term a ... While it is said the dollar is now back by the full faith and credit of the United States, this faith and credit is largely treasury bonds, or debt, much of which are held overseas by foreign governments. Ever since the US dollar went off the gold standard in 1971, other countries have had doubts about keeping the dollar as the world s reserve currency. The first concern was that no fiat currency has succeeded long term. In a study of 775 fiat currencies (Mack, 2011), there was no historical precedence for a fiat currency that has succeeded in holding its value. 20 percent failed through hyperinflation, 21 percent were destroyed by war, 12 percent destroyed by independence, 24 percent were monetarily reformed, and 23 percent are still in circulation approaching one of the other outcomes (Mack, 2011). The average life expectancy for a fiat currency is 27 years, with the shortest life span being one month (Mack, 2011). It is one thing if an individual country s fiat currency collapses, but if a world reserve currency collapses, such as the US dollar, the world s economy will collapse with it. Another issue is the dramatic drop in the value in the dollar. As stated earlier, the US dollar has lost 97 percent of its value since being taken off the gold standard in 1971 (Mack, 2011). Not only does a weaker dollar translate into a cut in the real spending power of American consumers, it makes the dollar a very poor investment for investors and central banks around the ... The deal him total creative control and a percentage of the profits. He started and then stopped an attempt of Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness. It was similar to his actual debut film called Citizen Kane in 1941. Citizen Kane told the story of newspaperman Charles Foster Kane, played by Orson, tracing his rise to power and his eventual corruption from his power. Kane was modeled after William Randolph Hearst. American Film Institute and British Film Institute both rated Citizen Kane the best film of all time. It was also nominated for nine academy awards and won for best screenplay. Orson was in the middle of filming The Other Side of the Wind, which was never finished, and he couldn t afford to pay cinematographer, so he gave him his Oscar. The second film is called The Magnificent Ambersons in 1942. Toward the end of filming Orson went to Rio for a documentary. When he returned he found that RKO made its own ending of the movie.
