Honor In The Iliad
In Ancient Greece honor was important. In the Iliad it says Now be men, my friends! Courage, come,
take heart! Dread what comrades say of you here in bloody combat! When men dread that, more men
come through alive When soldiers break and run, good bye glory, good bye all defenses! The only
way Greeks believe they could earn honor was by fighting. Although fighting for an important cause
does bring honor it is not the only way humans earn honor. One way people can receive honor comes
from age. Honoring elders is a command gave us. In the book in the Bible Leviticus is written, Stand
up in the presence of the elderly, and show respect for the aged. In this verse we are told to respect and
honor elderly people. Humans in the Bible are

Comparing Macbeth And Throne Of Blood

Macbeth Comparative Essay In the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare and the movie Throne of
Blood by Akira Kurosawa, there are two very different narratives. Both specify the same conflict of
Macbeth killing Duncan and him becoming king and having the same characters. The narratives do
have differences relating to the characters on how the stories both play out. In Shakespeare s play
Macbeth the setting takes place in Scotland speaking with their own language. In the movie Throne of
Blood the setting is in Japan were of course Japanese is spoken having a difference from both
narratives. There are many minor differences stories as they both play out yet the plot seems to be
very similar. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Shakespeare wrote his plays he always throws in a drama. As for the director of Throne of Blood
he put all the drama in the ending. The reason why he took away the scenes of Macduff s family.
Kurosawa s narrative became a dramatic irony until the violent ending. Kurosawa did not want
Washizu to die at the hands of a grieving father and husband. He decided to end it with Washizu s
soldiers killing him making the movie have a dramatic change. As for Shakespeare his play involved
of a killer being able to kill the father, Banquo, but not the son, Fleance. Both amazing narratives, yet
written differently to end the story of Macbeth s death. As always not everything can be similar from a
story to a movie. A movie will always be written or directed in any way the director writes the scripts
for the actors. Such as plays they are written the way the writers would want the actors to perform
because they would know how the audience will be captivated by the drama. Shakespeare and
Kurosawa had different ways to write both narratives yet both came out in their own unique way. As
for the audience they could enjoy either both. The same conflicts Macbeth had to show in both
narratives was the murder of the king. Later to him becoming a king that he started to kill anyone who
tried to come at his way. When he became arrogant he dies in the end

Concerns Regarding Public Cloud Services
Many concerns pertaining mostly to public cloud services restrain the movement of the organisation
towards this new business model and gaining benefits aforementioned. Moving to cloud computing
services means renting off premise IT resources that are managed by the cloud provider. This raises
several questions and concerns such as: what are cloud providers procedures to extit{protect data }
from destructive forces (e.g. fire, flood, earthquake) and to extit{secure it} from unwanted actions of
unauthorised users? , Is there any guarantee on extit{cloud services availability} on line without
power cut? , and what about if cloud provider decide to extit{ discontinue cloud service?}.
Furthermore, the risk of extit{vendor lock in} where customer unable to shift business data and
application interaction into another cloud provider s services without substantial switching costs. More
specifically, each cloud provider requires a particular Application Programming Interface (API) that
imposes on cloud customers to develop their applications in a certain way to interact with their cloud
services. Thus, moving to another provider thrusts customer to re develop its applications based on the
new cloud provider s API requirement. Finally, data storage is growing very fast due to the increasing
reliance on information especially for business. This growth of data storage requires increasing of IT
budget to maximise IT resources including: storage entities, cooling systems,

Levitt And Dubner s Superfreakanomics
Superfreakanomics is set up in chapters of short excerpts that dive into different topics ranging from
illegal industries, such as prostitution and other examples, such as the safety behind using car seats
and the altruistic nature of humans. Each chapter provides many stories, data, background, and
commentary on how this system is functioning poorly, could be improved, or related to other larger
issues in society, such as combating terrorism. In their introduction, Levitt and Dubner discuss seeing
the world from the perspective of economists and include being a person in an undeveloped nation
such as India and the transition from horses to cars, as well as talking about statistics and the bending
of knowledge. This introduction shows that every day events can be quite interesting and can be a
starting point to conversation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prostitutes do mostly part time work and can make a lot of money to support themselves, as opposed
to taking other jobs, due to the fact that the work is illegal and customers are willing to pay. In
addition to supply and demand to support oneself, the motivation for this field of work is also related
to differences in how much money a woman earns compared to a man. A woman is willing to be a
prostitute, since she can charge a higher. With relations to economics, prostitutes are involved in cost
benefit analysis when it comes to having a pimp, just like people do when it comes to real estate
agents. In both situations people decide that it is better to provide money to someone else for a more

Sport And The American Dream Analysis
Tennis, A Step to a Women s Athleticism Awareness
Tennis is a sport that might not catch people s interest on TV, but it surely is a sport that people admire
and love to play. The one reason why it might be very admirable would probably be because it is not
inclusive to any race, ethnicity, or culture. If you look at the tennis players that are involved in the
game, their backgrounds are not very similar to other tennis players. Unlike basketball, you would
notice that it is dominated by African Americans. Despite that, one of the negative attributes of tennis
is the dominance of males. Tennis is a game that is open to everyone; however, there are gender
differences that affect the women players. Women don t get paid the same as men, men s finals attracts
more attention and is awaited for more than women s finals, also the men tend to get more
opportunities outside of tennis (commercials).

strong tennis player. However, she is seen as masculine because of her body structure. Williams has a
large muscle mass and according to Elizabeth Newman in the article, No room for body image

Characteristics Of A Resilient Business Organization
The word resilience comes from the latin world salire , which means to spring up and the word resilire
which means to spring back as well as resilo which means the ability to rebound or jump back
(Resnick, Lisa, and Gwyther, 2011; Dalziell and McManus, 2004; Pflanz and Lewis, 2012; Rochas,
Kuznecova and Romagnoli, 2014).
A theoretical model is presented identifying the pertinent features that characterize a resilient business
organization. Drawing on the systems theory literature, a business is firstly characterized in terms of
its technical, social and economic sub systems. Secondly, the kinds of disruptions business system
might need to guard against are identified according to local, national and global spheres of influence.
Thirdly, that resilient business system must attend to the goals of redundancy, requisite variety and
resources. Finally, when these attributes (sub systems, spheres of influence goals) are connected
certain business artifacts become evident as critical to enabling organizational resilience.
Resilience is seen as an organizational capability, to anticipate key events from emerging trends,
constantly adapt to change and rapidly bounce back from disaster (Marcos, 2008). Resilient
organizations always strive to be prepared for the best, but also for the worst where organizational
learning inward and outward is nurtured and encouraged. The fusion of personal talent with
productive environments and a balanced approach to managing explicit and tacit

Philosophy Of Clinical Mental Health Counseling
Philosophy and Approach
I am a mental health counselor working towards licensure in the state of Washington. I have a master s
degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University Seattle. In my current
counseling practice, I work with individual adults (over 18). I take a humanistic approach to therapy;
in our sessions together, we will focus on the here and now of your experience, while also exploring
your past and social context to the extent they are relevant to your present concerns. Our first meeting
will be a time for you to tell your story; then, together, we will assess your concerns and issues, and
decide on the goals toward which you would like to move (Hilton, 2016). As we continue through the
therapy process, we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I am committed to embracing cultural diversity and social responsibility in my counseling practice
(Corey, et al., 2015, p. 112). I am committed to my own cultural competency and, although I am not
perfect, I am open to learning and growth (p. 118). I invite you to challenge my assumptions. Many
therapy approaches reflect Western patriarchal values that do not fit the needs of all cultural
perspectives (p. 117 118). I consider your disclosure of personal information to be an important aspect
of therapy, but I will encourage you to self disclose according to your own timeline, not mine (p. 120).
Some people hesitate to speak due to respect and cultural norms, so I encourage you to let me know
when I am being too direct or assertive in my questions (p. 122). Therapy sometimes assumes a goal
of individualization, buy I realize this might not be your goal, so I am open to exploring issues of
collective responsibility as well as self actualization (p. 123). Finally, I come from a Western cultural
orientation, both personally and professionally, and am often unconscious of my nonverbal behaviors,
so I encourage you to let me know when I treat you disrespectfully in my use of eye contact, facial
expression, or gestures, or when my interventions feel uncomfortably personal or intrusive (p. 123).
Recognizing our own cultural and historical embeddedness can remind us that our assumptions about

Methods
Participants
A total of 13 participants contributed to this study (7 males, 6 females) all in which were measured for
vertical jump height, broad jump length, and dorsiflexion of the ankle. The inclusion criteria were
students of Austin Peay State University in the Health and Human Performance department. Must be
physically able to perform exercise testing and training. Also, students must be above the age of 18.
The exclusion criteria consisted of any past injuries that would cause pain or discomfort during the
activities. Students who are not a part of the Health and Human Performance Master s program and
students under the age of 18 are also excluded. This project was reviewed and approved by Dr.
Timothy Leszczak.

A total of 13 participated in the research study (7 males, 6 females). The average age of males in the
study was 23.14 ± 0.90 and the average age of females were 25.17 ± 3.25. The average height for
males were 70.36 ± 3.04 inches and for females 66 ± 2.10 inches. The mean weight and body fat for
males were 194.53 ± 17.49 lbs. and 18.03 ± 4.99 %, respectively. For female s body weight was
155.83 ± 27.74 lbs. and 25.32 ± 5.45 body fat percentage. After conducting a Pearson Correlation,
Table 2 describes the results using P value and alpha significance. A moderate correlation was found in
the combined scores between ankle dorsiflexion and broad jump (r = 0.45; P value = 0.12). Another
moderate correlation was recorded when compared between ankle dorsiflexion and vertical jump in a
combined group (r = 0.42; P value = 0.15). Males showed a higher correlation between ankle
dorsiflexion and vertical jump (r = 0.42; P value = 0.35), while females showed a lower correlation (r
= 0.37; P value = 0.47). Additionally, there was a higher correlation in males between ankle

Domestic Eco-Terrorism, PETA, ALF ELF Essay
Domestic Eco Terrorism, PETA, ALF ELF
With President Bush s War on Global Terrorism making front page news reports and filling the news
waves on the evening news, the American Public might not realize that there is in fact a war of sorts
going on behind the scenes in their own country. This is the war on home grown terrorist
organizations. Moreover, it is the war to fight against the ALF (Animal Liberation Front) and its
environmental little brother spin off the ELF or Environmental Liberation Front. The Domestic
Terrorism Section Chief of the FBI James Jarboe states that, the ELF and ALF have become one of the
most active extremist elements in the United States (Pierce). In another article, John Lewis from the

These attacks concentrate mainly on animal research centers, fur farms, hunting clubs etc., anywhere
where an animal might be harmed.
While the ALF concentrates primarily on the Liberation of animals, the ELF or Earth Liberation
Fronts primary mission is the protection of the environment from primarily large corporations that
would harm the environment for financial gains for just harm the environment out of ignorance.
According to ADL.org, in 1980 a group called Earth First! was formed. The idea of the group was to
protect the environment. But, some of its members didn t like the pacifist way of doing business, so
they formed the Earth Liberation Front in England in 1992. (ADL.org) This group prefers to use non
violent methods of burning down buildings and destroying property. They say it s non violent because
it doesn t target human or animal related targets. The ELF has set some new record for property
damage in the United States; in 1997 they claimed responsibility for a fire that destroyed a $12 million
dollar ski lodge in Vail, Colorado. The group said that the lodge threatened key Lynx habitat in the
state. They were also involved in $50 Million dollar arson in California where a Hummer dealership
was destroyed because they vehicles murder the natural environment.

Methods to Determine Cable Size under Harmonic Condition
In many methods, skin and proximity effects are very important. Another important parameter is
alternative current (a.c.) resistance, rac. This parameter is frequency dependence. It can be shown that
rac increased with the increased of frequency (Du, Burnett, (2000), (Demoulias, Labridis, Dokopoulos
Gouramanis, 2007), (Desmet, Vanalme, Belmans, Van Dommelen, 2008). Some research papers used
value from published graph such as by The Okonite Company and Anixter Inc. (The Okonite
Company, 2001), (Anixter Inc., n.d.). However upon inspection, it was found that the graph is
produced on the basis of fundamental frequency of 60 Hz and using imperial unit. Some other sources,
although on 50 Hz as fundamental basis, give limited data such as (Moore, 1997), (Coates, n.d). As an
alternative, formula from IEC 287 1 1 was used to calculate the rac (IEC, 1994).
Skin and proximity effects are part of formula to calculate cable ampacity known as Neher McGrath
(NM) method in 1957 (Blackledge, O Connell, Barrett Sung, 2012, 2012). However this method,
according to the authors, could not handle a range of harmonic frequencies. In 1991, Ajit Hiranandani
(AH) introduced a way to calculate temperature and ampacity of a cable using generalised finite
difference model (Hiranandani, 1991). Hiranandani (1995) produced a paper which tackles the
problem of size selection for cable under harmonic condition. In this paper, he introduced term such as
harmonic signature (HS), with reference to

Why Is Robert Graves Considered To Be A Soldier In The...
This story is about a young man s childhood along with his role in the military, his name is Robert
Graves. He started his childhood off with reading countless books and entering preparatory schools.
He had gone to several preparatory schools before attending the Charterhouse. After talking about his
life in school, he enlisted in the military. After registering, he had entered into the Third Battalion as
an officer or lieutenant. The part of this book that I was interested in was definitely was when he
served in the First World War as a young officer. Though, even further in depth, I had thought that the
scenes that Graves described being in the trenches and coming up on dead bodies was an interesting
part. The military and combat had always been an interesting topic, but the stories from soldiers and
veterans had furthered my understanding. When soldiers tell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The trench was made out of red clay and contained a dugout for protection of shells. Since they were
dug in the ground, frog and mice were often in the trench since they couldn t get back out. When
Graves met a friend named Siegfried Sassoon a person of poetry, just like Graves himself. Sassoon
believed that Graves s poetry about the war was too realistic, as Sassoon s poetry was light. However,
Sassoon had not been introduced to the trenches yet. I believe this shows an outsider s perspective of
something such as the trenches, compared to an individual that has been in them. I have had family
members in the military and have heard their stories, so I have a picture of what it is like, but I have
not been in them myself so I do not have the same outlook as those who have. I have a better image of
a trench compared to a person who just thinks it is a hole in the ground. In my opinion, Graves is
trying to create a point that people don t know the horror of a trench or war in general until they have
experienced it

with acting. It was performed in the University Theater, Directed by Marla Ladd, and Choreographed

What Is My Favorite Burger Essay
Being the son of a baker, I am constantly trying new foods and recipes. I have had anything from
turkey burgers stuffed with blue cheese, bacon, and onions to a healthy shrimp stir fry. Some things
that I eat, I dislike very much. Other things I try, I have second and even third helpings.Trying my
mom s new recipes always makes me respect good food to a higher extent. This is why my favorite
sandwich is a twist on the true American favorite, the burger. I want you to know why this burger is
the very best there is. The first thing you need for the perfect burger is a nicely done bun. What you
need for this is a bun without sesame seeds. You also need a little bit of butter and a flat top grill. First,

This burger is no exception. The burger must also be topped with a scrumptious smoked ham and
delicious bacon. Both of these should be hot when put on the burger. The ham, since it is smoked,
does not need extensive heating which may ruin the beautiful pink color of ham. The bacon itself
should be cooked in a very specific and delicate way. It must be cooked to the point where it is no
longer flimsy, so which would render it chewy, but not overly crunchy which would render it nearly
unedible. For extra flavor, cook both of them in the same place you cooked the burger without
removing the burger grease. The next part of the burger is one of the most essential and the easiest
part. What you need is a little bit of a smooth, white swiss cheese. However, unlike what many people
like to do you should try to refrain from buying the cheapest cheese you can. When it comes to cheese,
the higher priced cheese is more expensive for a reason, and it s the way to go. When the cheese is set
between the slice of ham and the burger, you want it to melt so it holds the two together, which is
something you are not likely to get with a cheaper

Essay on Racial Tensions in Wide Sargasso Sea
Racial tension is a major theme in Wide Sargasso Sea , with the mix of whites and blacks and
white/blacks in the novel creating a cut throat atmosphere which creates a hazardous place for Jamaica
s denizens. Many racial situations occur between whites and blacks, which Americans are use to due
to the dangerous troubles between blacks and whites in the 1950s with a clear enemy: the whites. But
Rhys tackles a more important point: an overall racial hostility between everybody living in Jamaica
during the novels time period with no one to blame. Instead of using only racism, Rhys uses situations
her readers could easily relate to such as: betrayal, adultery, and feeling of not belonging. Through her
use of alternating points of views, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rhys places Antoinette in such a position to show her readers several things: how Antoinette faced
racism and prejudice, her misunderstanding of racism, and the violence towards the discriminated.
Rhys also shows how apparent the racism towards white people is, with Annette hinting at the
destructive nature of the Jamaican people by saying they are more alive than [Mr. Mason is], lazy or
not, and they can be dangerous and cruel for reason you wouldn t understand (29). Rhys needs to
show that races, Creole and white people cannot escape racism and chooses to use Rochester and
Antoinette to help readers better connect with them. The point of this practice is to show Rochester
and Antoinette are both victim and helps create a complex connection between them: through conflict,
marriage and their individual faults.
Rhys integrates the two characters and their racism so her readers will feel more connected with both.

Destiny Of The Republic Analysis
Destiny of the Republic was a story of the life and death of James A. Garfield. It was told in the
viewpoints of many different characters throughout the story but mainly in the viewpoint of James
Garfield, Charles Guiteau, and Alexander Graham Bell. Garfield was the 20th president of the United
States. His presidency was cut short when he was assassinated by Guiteau, and later Bell attempted to
Garfield make a recovery to continue his presidency. James Garfield was born into poverty on
November 19, 1831, in a log cabin in Ohio. Eliza, James s mother, wanted nothing more than a good
education for her son and he went to school for a while but then left to work at the canals in honor of
his father. He had a close call with death one late night when he almost drowned, this gave him the
realization that god had saved him for something greater than working on a canal. He went on to get a
better education and became a passionate and determined student. To pay for tuition Garfield worked
as a janitor and was later moved up to assistant professor. He wanted to be the top in his class. He was
accepted into Williams college an was one of the top five in his class. He graduated with honors and
returned to the Eclectic Institute where he became the school s president. Shortly after he married
Lucretia Rudolph and would later have six children. Ending his career in academics Garfield ran for

In an attempt to control the influx of illegal immigrants that enter the country, the U.S. Customs and
Border Protection (CBP) and the National Guard (NG) were partnered to support Operation Jump

the southwest border (MOA, 2006, p. 1) of the United States. A memorandum of agreement between
the states of California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas and the Department of Defense (DOD)

additional members to improve border security, while the NG augmented the CBP. (Straub, 2008).

Similar to the PCA of 1873, DOD Directive 5525.5 prohibits the following forms of assistance: (1)
interdiction of a vehicle, vessel, aircraft, or other similar activity; (2) a search or seizure; (3) an arrest,
apprehension, stop and frisk, or similar activity; and (4) use of military personnel in the pursuit of

Thus, the National Guard devoted the majority of resources to manning observation posts, flying alert

1a. What are some of the actions you would take to conduct a Red Team assessment? According to the
book Penetration Testing, A hands on Introduction to Hacking (Weidman, 2014) , there are six phases
of the penetration testing process. The six phases are pre engagement interactions, intelligence
gathering, threat modeling, vulnerability analysis, exploitation, post exploitation and reporting. Pre
engagement During the pre engagement phase, I would interact and plan out the testing scenario with
the client. We would discuss their expectations, versus reality and their goals for performing the
pentest. Additionally, we would engage in discussions detailing the project scope to define
responsibilities of the red team and the responsibilities of the organization. As well, we would discuss
left and right boundaries regarding actions and reactions to situations that may occur as a result of the
pentest scenario. Finally, after all expectations, goals, responsibilities and project scope are clearly
identified and agreed upon we would need to discuss what type of reporting mechanism the client
prefers. Some clients may prefer a more discreet reporting platform, informing only a select few
employees . Other organizations may prefer a more widespread dissemination of the pentest findings
to use as an awareness and teaching mechanism for their employees. Information Gathering During

Holden Uses Defense Mechanisms
Consequently, Holden uses defense mechanisms, as a means of preventing anxiety that would result
from conscious awareness of disturbing impulses, wishes, or ideas arising from the id, (Nevid 471).
Nevid explains that according to Freudian theory, defense mechanisms reside in the unconscious part
of the human brain because if people were conscious of every single problem, people wouldn t be able
to function. Therefore, Holden is subconsciously utilizing defense mechanisms in order to shield

Although defense mechanisms can help put off a certain problem for some time, relying on defense
mechanisms is not always beneficial because it gives people reasons to act irrationally. This
clarification of Freud s theory is strongly portrayed in Holden s exaggerated view of reality. His denial
triggers delusional fantasies in Holden s mind that he doesn t seem to think deeply about. For
example, when one rash thought entered into Holden s mind, he delivers an ultimatum to Sally,
saying, ...Tomorrow morning we could drive up to Massachusetts and Vermont...We ll stay in cabin
camps until the dough runs out. Then, when the dough runs out, I could get a job somewhere, and we
could live somewhere with a brook and all and, later on, we could get married or something, (Salinger
132). At the age of sixteen, as if it s not unrealistic enough, he tries to persuade Sally. When Sally
gives him a reality check, he practically rages at her. Holden is so blinded by the fantasy world he
created for himself and his defense mechanisms were giving Holden an excuse to acting abnormally.
As a result, he blames Sally for the unreasonable idea he proposed, calling her a royal pain in the ass,
(133). This irrational behavior of Holden is exactly what Freud is illustrating in his theory of
personality that depending on defense mechanisms for relieving stressful

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Bioprospecting
Historically there has been prolific scientific interest in the lifestyles, knowledge, cultures, histories
and worldviews of indigenous peoples. Rural communities depend on TK for food, health and
agriculture. This TK forms the basic cultural identity for them, contributing to social cohesiveness and
thereby reducing vulnerability and poverty. Globally 80 per cent of the world s populations, mostly the
undeveloped regions, still rely on the indigenous medicinal knowledge of local plants for their medical
needs (Shankar 1997). In India, around 70 per cent of the population directly depends on land based
occupations, forests, wetlands and marine habitats for ecological livelihoods and cultural sustenance

In the last several centuries staple foods and high value cash crops have been moved from one part of
the world to another, keeping pace with shifting markets and opportunities (The Crucible Group

calorie intake from species that are found in another continent. Since distribution of the world s

The Battle Of Chancellorsville, Virginia
The battle of Chancellorsville, Virginia was fought from April 30 through May 6, 1863. It was fought
between the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia commanded by General Robert E. Lee, and the
Federal Army of the Potomac commanded by Major General Joseph Hooker. The intent of this battle
was for Major General Hooker s Union force to cross the Rappahannock River west of
Chancellorsville in order to gain control of the Virginia Central and Fredericksburg rail lines; these rail
lines were essential to the Army of Northern Virginia because they were the main supply lines to
Richmond, the capitol of the Confederate states. The Union knew that by gaining the supply line to
Richmond and defeating General Lee, was crucial because this would cause the Confederate strategic
center of gravity to fall, essentially leading to an end of the Civil War. However, the Army of the
Potomac lost the battle of Chancellorsville against General Lee s Army of Northern Virginia, and the
Civil War raged on. The battle of Chancellorsville is generally viewed as General Robert E. Lee s
greatest victory of the Civil War. General Lee expertly demonstrated mission command by leading his
troops into an unlikely battle, understanding the battle, visualizing, and directing his troops in a
victory for the Confederacy. General Robert E. Lee is considered by many to be an iconic American
figure, a symbol of the South, and one of the greatest Generals in American history. Lee was a highly

Algonquian Culture Analysis
When I was a little girl, my grandmother told me an Algonquian story of a man and his family who
got lost during the harsh winter so they hid in a den near a valley. Soon, whatever food they had was
all gone and the family started to starve with nothing to eat. The man soon grew so hungry he ate his
eldest son, thinking that he had plenty other sons until more and more of his children fell victim to his
gluttony. As his wife, the woman could do nothing but grieve the loss of her children up until the
husband turned into such a horrible abomination that he did not care about his wife s safety and ate her
as well. Grandmother explained to me that those stories were warnings to our people and the results of
what can happen if we commit the sin of eating man flesh. The man is now recognized in the
Algonquian culture as the first Wendigo. It was my fault that we got lost because I didn t consider how
far we were from our tribe, and the severe threat of the white men that we heard stories of. Achak said

Qin Shi Huang Tomb Analysis
The Qin Shi Huang mausoleum was built within 37 years of Qin Shi s years of being the emperor in
China. In his mausoleum contained a hidden one of the eighth wonders of the world Terracotta Army,
which is discovered in 1974 by a farmer named Mr. Yang. The film mainly focused on the the first
emperor era which was ruled by Qin Shi Huang, who unified China as one country, including its
language and writing. He also is considered as one of the most crucial emperors in Chinese history
because he burned many books that were written in my different languages, massacring the captured
soldiers from war, which gave him the name of Slaughter. Qin Shi Huang was scared that his enemies
would revenge him after his death, so he started to build his mausoleum while he was still emperor.
Inside the mausoleum contained many kinds of statues like horses, birds, warriors, musician, acrobats
and one of the famous objects, that archaeologists found is the Terracotta Army, which was built to
protect Qin Shi Huang in the afterlife. On his scale of the mausoleum, modern people considered Qin
Shi Huang had made a palace full of goods for himself after his death instead of just creating a simple
mausoleum. A reason for this is because in Chinese culture treat death like birth ( Ian Bremner, 2014).

High School And Social Hierarchy
In high school, social hierarchy is typically determined by perceived popularity. Adolescents
experience many emotional, biological and cognitive changes during this time. Teenagers struggle
with their identity as social acceptance becomes an increasingly important factor in their lives. Cliques
are formed in high school as a representation of a small group of people with common interests.
Cliques are joined mostly by girls because it gives them a sense of security and confidence they may
otherwise lack, but boys are known to join cliques as well. Cliques provide adolescents with a strong
sense of self worth and can in fact help one grow as an individual, sharing common interests and
values. Adolescents who appear with high social power tend to have similar qualities and group
together. Those who are less popular tend to isolate themselves more while befriending others with a
similarly low social status. Often times, those who are socially dominant are generally more
influential, daring, physically attractive and socially appropriate. (Closson 3) Cliques can foster
community in a group of close knit individuals. Different types of cliques provide adolescents with an
opportunity to group together with those with similar interests. They allow teenagers to satisfy their
psychological needs such as gaining a sense of belongingness and security. Although there are positive
aspects of cliques, there is a correlation between cliques and social pressure. Some clique members

Public Safety Outweigh Petitioner s First Amendment Right
C. The interest of public safety outweighs Petitioner s First Amendment right to record.
Petitioner s recording posed an unreasonable risk to bystanders, passing motorist, and the police,
essentially creating an inherently dangerous situation. Kelly v. Borough of Carlisle, 622 F.3d 248, 262
(3d Cir. 2010). The Third Circuit has firmly recognized that traffic stops are especially fraught with
danger to police officers. Id. A traffic stop always poses danger because of its unpredictable nature,
but even more so, when a potential suspect is on the loose. Petitioner was a suspect for a crime of
several residential break ins, which a reasonable office would assume is armed and dangerous; thus
creating a heightened risk to the officers safety. Furthermore, the Petitioner was stopped on the side of
a road congested with traffic. If the officers do not maintain control of the situation, any unpredictable
movement could result in grave injury; therefore, the police officers acted reasonably by minimizing
the unnecessary danger added by Petitioner s recording during an already dangerous situation.
D. Petitioner s recording is not a matter of public interest that carried any expressive or
communicative purpose.
The encounter Petitioner recorded is not a matter of public interest. Although there is a broad First
Amendment right to film matters of public interest, the extend of that right to film public officials

Advantages And Disadvantages Of SCADA
SCADA
SCADA is an acronym for Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition . It can be defined as is a system
operating with coded signals over communication channels so as to provide control of remote
equipment
SCADA is one of the oldest methods to control data across a network. Unlike many other software s
used in the industry, SCADA can be used in any field, be it in electrical power control, mechanical
machinery, civil projects, data managements etc. This versatility means more than one type of system,
for example both electrical and mechanical systems can be controlled by one software from the same
place at the same time.

integrity, check for the limits etc.
4. Tagging: The SCADA allows the operator to tag certain specific operation restrictions to prevent
from unauthorized operation.
5. Alarms: The SCADA systems have the capability to alert the operator of fault conditions and
undesirable operating conditions in order of their criticality and severity.
6. Logging: SCADA should log all operator entries, alarms and selected entries
7. Trending: This are graphs that the SCADA plots continuously on the selected items in the selected

The large buck comes out from behind a tree and shows itself. He pulls back his arrow. This is the

Central Pennsylvania was never known as to have been the permanent settlement for any large group
of Native Americans. It was more of a stop for traveling tribes or a place of refuge. The Cherokees
once passed through here in the early 17th century (Wallace, 1970). The Susquehannock Indians were
an Iroquois Indian tribe that settled the Susquehanna watershed before they migrated to Maryland,
near the Chesapeake Bay (Cadzow, 1936). The tribe that stayed the longest and had the most influence
on Central Pennsylvania was the Shawnee. The Shawnees were an Algonkian people whose original
home was most likely the Cumberland River in Tennessee. This southern position gave them the name
Shawnee, meaning southerners in the Algonkian language. The Shawnees split up often and moved
around a lot, they are noted to have lived in parts of Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia, and
Pennsylvania. Their first known appearance in Pennsylvania in great numbers was in 1697 (Harvey,

History of American Poetry
At its beginning, American poetry was extremely influenced by its European roots. This is evidenced
by the fact that the first colonists were English, who also brought along their poetic styles and
patterns. These European traits set the standard for the genesis of American poetry, which will later we
further developed and adapted by Walt Whitman and Emily Dickinson, who are now considered to be
the first great American poets. Because of the strong ties to European poetry, American poets wanted
to distinguish themselves from their origins and began their crusade to build a new foundation for
American poetry. Therefore, the 19th century began with high hopes for poetic accomplishment. The
first comprehensive anthologies of American poetry appeared in the 1820s, 1830s, and 1840s. In the
first half of the century poets sought to entertain, to inform, and to put into memorable language
America s history, myths, manners, and topography, but they did not seek to forge a radical new poetic
tradition. Their poetry built upon tradition, and they met the first great goal of American poetry: that it
be able to compete in quality, intelligence, and breadth with British poetry. But just as they achieved
this goal, poetic aspirations began to change. By the mid 19th century the new goal for American
poetry was to create something very different from British poetry. (MarcoPolo.net). Stephen Crane s

Human Brain And Human Brains
We, the human species are unique. This is a phrase we all have heard at some point in our lives. We
are unique compared to other animals in our language, movements, and emotions. We have our own
language which the majority of animals do not, we stand on two legs while the majority of the animals
are on four legs, and we are much more sensitive to our emotional reactions, making us complex
animals. Now, where does all these differences come from? As the title suggest, our human brains are
incredible in the way they process information. This article aims to discuss the differences of human
brain compared to other animal brains, and what makes us humans so unique in our responsive
reactions in how we process information. More specifically, this paper will examine the influences the
environment has on our human brains and how the changing environment influences our brain
evolution in how we respond.
Firstly, it is important to understand the evolution and development of human brain. An interesting
idea is that our human brains are becoming smaller in size through evolution of time. It is commonly
believed that more content requires bigger space. Let s take an example. A bowl that needs to fit ten
identical objects needs to be bigger to a bowl that only needs to fit five identical objects. Likewise, our
human brain has continued to develop through evolution and has much more complex capabilities as
well as content to carry since the birth of our species in the Stone Age. Now

without a doubt im not ready to take care of someone else or be in the leadership position. I should be

cold or very hot weather are unusual. Occasional periods of mild, above freezing temperatures are
noted almost every winter. Conversely, during the peak of the summer season, occasional periods of
dry cool weather break up stretches of hot, humid weather. Temperatures below zero are infrequent,
but have occurred in every county in Missouri. On the average there are 2 to 5 days a year with below
zero temperatures in the northern counties, and 1 to 2 days in the southern counties, although there are
some winters when temperatures do not go below zero at

What Are The Aspects Of Culture In The Movie Nightcrawler
The film, Nightcrawler displays multiple versions of culture in various ways. Culture is a way of life
or a group of people and the behaviors, beliefs, and values that they accept. Some forms of culture
displayed openly throughout the film, and some are hidden between the images. This film was
recently made in 2014 directed and written by Dan Gilroy. The feature embodies a thrilling tale that
mirrors different aspects of today s culture in an exciting way. One of the main moments of culture
that I noticed in this film is the violence that is shown. In today s culture, violence has become a part
of every day media. It is shown in movies, video games, and even advertisements. This is represented
when Lou tracks down two murderers in attempt to get the perfect shot for the TV news station that he
works for. He witnesses them shooting innocent people inside of a beautiful mansion, then proceeds to
film the dead inside of the house. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nina plays the head of the news station and is bribed to have a relationship with Lou in order to keep
her station up and running due to its lack of views. Lou also bribes Rick to accompany him in his
insane quests for heart stopping stories in order to have a right hand man. As negative as these
scenarios seem, it shows the culture of today s society and how almost every business is cut throat
these days when competing for what you want. The final example of culture that I recognized was the
profound language. It is a part of every day society nowadays. Cussing and swearing seems as if it s
more acceptable now than it was a few years ago. Throughout the film, characters express their
frustration using a series of cuss words further representing he culture that we live in

Ttc Attack Case Study
Often when someone s temper is aroused, this person will tend to react in a manner that contrasts
sharply with their usual behavior and sometimes they may even react quite negatively in particular
situations. A momentary decision made in a fit of anger can linger and can even result in negative
consequences. Many jobs in which employees work with the public can be more demanding than
others and can require a higher level of self control and the ability to provide good customer service
under pressure. From waiters and waitresses to police officers, average citizens are challenged and
placed in situations they never anticipated that can put their patience and even their their character on
trial. Below, we will examine an incident that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many assaults have been recorded against them. As a matter of fact, on average, 500 assaults take
place on them per year as of just a few years ago! The attacks typically involve spitting or surface
from fare disputes or those who are publicly intoxicated. Injuries range from minor to severe among
TTC workers, who often do not return to their job as a result. Patrons may also suffer an injury as a
result of the inappropriate actions of TTC workers, which is evident in a case where it s alleged that a
TTC driver attacked a public transit passenger over a fare and age disagreement. Apparently, the
driver was of the opinion that the fare paid by the student was not satisfied, due to the age of the
passenger. It s alleged that the victim s head was pressed against a glass window, which as a result,
was broken. How exactly the window became broken wasn t explained in the introductory reports.
The Constable with the police who investigated the alleged attack made note that the injuries sustained
by the victim to both his head and neck were minor, overall. The victim, though, made the decisions to
retain a personal injury lawyer s services, who subsequently advised him to undergo a hospital

Berlin Wall Essay
Berlin Wall
The Berlin Wall, for twenty eight years, separated friends, families, and a nation. A lot of suffering
began for Germany when World War II commenced, but by the end of the war Germany was in the
mists of a disaster waiting to happen. After WWII was over Germany was divided into four parts. The
United States, Great Britain, and France controlled the three divisions that were formed in the Western
half; and the Eastern half was controlled by the Soviet Republic. The Western divisions eventually
united to make a federal republic, while the Eastern divisions became communist.
Even though Berlin lay deep within the Soviet sector, the Allies thought it best to divide this capital.
Therefore Berlin was also divided into four ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By noon the riots had escalated and the workers from East Germany were marching through the
Brandenburg Gate into West Germany with intension to combine with workers from West Germany.
All of this came to an end when the Soviet Union called in tanks, and other troops, to take care of the
riots. The Soviet tanks shot into the crowds of people killing many, and injuring many others, they
even shot into the crowds in West Germany that were rioting. The people of East Germany realized
that they were trapped in East Germany, and if they wanted out they would have to risk their lives in
doing so. In the late 1950 s approximately 8,000 to 10,000 people from East Germany left and each
day they would move further and further west.
Many of these people were from East Berlin, and the government of East Germany knew that they
couldn t afford to loose all of these people. Their economy was suffering already, and with the loss of
so many people the economy would be hopeless. Many of the people that were leaving were skilled
trades men, or members of professions. There were many escape tunnels dug under the wall. The
tunnel system was an unexpected resistance movement dug by hundreds of East Berlin students with
thousands more willing to help.
The first successful tunnel was in an East Berlin Graveyard. Mourners brought flowers to a grave and
then dropped out of sight. More than half of the emigrants between 1949 and 1961 were under the age
of 24. For people under 60 years old,

Concept Analysis Of Pain And Pain
Concept Analysis of Pain The most common reason that people seek medical care is pain, and pain is
the leading cause of disability (Peterson Bredow, 2013, p. 51; National Institute of Health, 2010). Pain
is such an important topic in healthcare that the United States congress identified 2000 to 2010 as the
Decade of Pain Control and Research (Brunner L. S., et al., 2010, p. 231). Unfortunatelly, patients are
reporting a small increase in satisfaction with the pain management while in the hospital (Bernhofer,
2011). Pain assessment and treatment can be complex since nurses do not have a tool to quantify it.
Pain is considered the fifth vital sign, however, we do not have numbers to guide our interventions.
Pain is a subjective expirience that cannot be shared easily. Since nurses spend more time with
patients in pain than any other healthcare provider, nurses must have a clear understanding of the
concept of pain (Brunner, et al., 2010). Concept analysis main objective is to clarify ideas, to enhance
critical thinking, and to promote communication (Rodgers Knafl, 2000). This paper will examine the
concept of pain using Wilson s Steps of Concept Analysis (Rodgers Knafl, 2000). Concept analysis are
particularly helpful in explaining ambiguous concepts (Rodgers Knafl, 2000). Pain is defined in
multiple ways. Also, pain has is associated with a lot of misconceptions. This concept analysis
objective is to bring clarity and to provide a deeper understanding of pain.

Symbols Of The Nobility And The Proletariat
Symbols of aristocratic authority in Miss Julie, facilitate societal discussion on ethically acceptable
behaviour as sexual, gender and class conflicts emerge through individuals having challenged
hierarchal structure despite having internalized distinct ideological frameworks. Strindberg utilizes
uncertainty and the reveling Midsummer atmosphere to justify aristocratic need for isolation in order
to maintain a guise of dominance. Julie s failure to embody submissive characteristics and conform to
social paradigms by alienating herself from the servitude, threatens the hierarchal structure, using
social structure to dictate ethical behaviour within society. Hence, Julie s death is justified as
necessary to reinstate social order through isolating and subjugating the proletariat. Liberation and
freedom are impossible to obtain due to the anxiety producing agency of the Count, symbolizing the
omnipresence of repressive Capitalist dictates due to the impact on psyche as a product of nurture.
Symbols of authority existing only to perpetuate elite authority are present in Jean as he is socially
alienated from the aristocracy, despite characteristically embodying the role. The juxtaposition of
symbols of the aristocracy and the proletariat are present when Jean [is] in morning coat and bowler ,
symbolizing Jean s finer sensibilities and ability to apply these within correct social environments.
Additionally, he attempts to assert himself within the formal social environment of

Importance Of The Colosseum
The functions religious or otherwise, of the colosseum were irrelevant to the ultimate design of the
architecture.
Once the colosseum had been built it seems to have become the model for many, if not most, of those
that followed (Hopkins and Beard 2005, 24). The Colosseum stands proudly upon the villainous
Emperor Nero s once grand Valley of the Golden House, projecting the munificence of Imperial
Roman Architecture of the Flavian period. Its ultimate design could be said to be formed through
purpose or function. However, this does not do justice to the importance of architecture within Roman
society (Thornton and Thornton in Lyes 1999, 2). The functions whether it be religious or otherwise,
of the Colosseum were irrelevant to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The diameter of the entire Colosseum was thus reduced and convention disregarded to take into
consideration this architectural feature. Looking in detail at the classical orders themselves which
made up the levels of the façade and the 80 grand entrances of the Colosseum it would appear to not
be revolutionary. However, if you engage with the architecture closer it reveals further Roman
architectural ingenuity and the importance of the structures appearance.
Traditionally Roman buildings saw the use of the classical Greek Doric order on ground levels
(without bases) with the more decorative orders of Ionic and Corinthian stacked above this (Lyes
1999, 6). However, in the Colosseum these orders were stacked and used in a way which had no
previous precedent in Roman architecture (Lyes 1999, 6). The design sees the orders dramatically
reduced, which has the columns that are engaged within the structure constructed with bases, and the
column shaft themselves missing the usual entasis of classic Greek orders, this all leads to a much
simplified capital. Between each stacked order there is a triple facia architrave, a relatively plain
designed freeze and cornice (Lyes 1999, 6). The use of the classical orders in this manner within the
design of the Colosseum, without precedent, was in fact not structural but a façade or veneer. This
allowed the

John Calvin Essay
John Calvin There are many people in history who have made a very big impact on their culture,
times, and or religion. John Calvin was by far one of these few great people. He had such a big
influence in the time which he lived from 1509 to 1564. John Calvin devoted almost his whole life to
the promoting of Protestantism and made such a difference that his impact is still seen today in
Christianity. Calvin was born in France and was the second son in his family of five brothers. He grew
and then decided to go to the famous University of Paris to study to be a priest. His father then had a
conflict with the bishop who employed him so he then turned to the study of law. While he was
studying in Paris he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It did not turn out his way at all. This resulted in anti Protestant protests all over Paris, forcing him to
flee for his own safety. He roamed Tramontana 2 from place to place and then ended up in Basle,
Switzerland. This is where he started his writing. You see John Calvin was considered a quiet, timid
natured man. The kind of man who would never fight in disputes. In his time there he really got to do
the things he wanted to accomplish out of life. These were to study and learn about God and his holy
word. After this he went to Geneva after getting kicked out for his teachings he got invited back to
help turn the city around spiritually. He never held a political office in Geneva but he ruled with
strictness and sin was punished. He had laws passed to promote Christian behaviour. Persecuted
Protestants fled from all over Europe to reside here. One last thing Calvin is known for is his theology.
This is put together in a Calvinism. The ideas of the Calvin doctrine are men are completely unable to
save themselves with their own works. Salvation is a matter of God s choosing those who will be
saved, and that God chooses without any consideration of a man s good works. If someone is chosen
of God, there was no way they could ever reject Christ or fail to endure to the end of their Christian
life. Finally, he taught that Jesus died only for the

My Experience With Writing
I don t think I ever wanted to be a writer: My experience with writing I walk into my bright, and
decorative bedroom after a long, and tiring day of school. Turning on the lights, I steer towards my
dresser set to retrieve my previously sharpened pencil and partially filled notebook. I find myself
sitting on my fuschia papasan chair. With my notebook in my hand, I slowly open it to reveal a fresh
clean sheet of paper. With peace and inspiration filling my mind, body, and soul, I begin to fill its
pages with tried attempts of poetry and eventful situations of my day. A smile forms onto my lips as I
stare at it. Writing about myself and experiences was all I knew. For days my English 12 class went by
in a breeze. We were instructed to use Khan Academy, to learn something new. This site contained
valuable information on a variety of topics. My English 12 teacher, began to explain that there was a
method to his madness as far as the Khan Academy website. frustrations filled me from the top of my
head to the very tip of my toes. I sat in my familiar seat at a table in the front of the classroom with my
twin sister and a familiar associate with my laptop in my hand. Suddenly, I felt overwhelmed with
intense feelings of anxiety and lack of motivation as my facilitator continued by informing the class
about how not only were we required to write an essay that was due in a few weeks from that day, but
also another that was due before we could graduate. He began handing out sheets

  • 2. Honor In The Iliad In Ancient Greece honor was important. In the Iliad it says Now be men, my friends! Courage, come, take heart! Dread what comrades say of you here in bloody combat! When men dread that, more men come through alive When soldiers break and run, good bye glory, good bye all defenses! The only way Greeks believe they could earn honor was by fighting. Although fighting for an important cause does bring honor it is not the only way humans earn honor. One way people can receive honor comes from age. Honoring elders is a command gave us. Both specify the same conflict of Macbeth killing Duncan and him becoming king and having the same characters. The narratives do have differences relating to the characters on how the stories both play out. In Shakespeare s play Macbeth the setting takes place in Scotland speaking with their own language. He decided to end it with Washizu s soldiers killing him making the movie have a dramatic change. As for Shakespeare his play involved of a killer being able to kill the father, Banquo, but not the son, Fleance. Both amazing narratives, yet written differently to end the story of Macbeth s death. As always not everything can be similar from a story to a movie. A movie will always be written or directed in any way the director writes the scripts for the actors. Such as plays they are written the way the writers would want the actors to perform because they would know how the audience will be captivated by the drama. Shakespeare and Kurosawa had different ways to write both narratives yet both came out in their own unique way. As for the audience they could enjoy either both. The same conflicts Macbeth had to show in both narratives was the murder of the king. Later to him becoming a king that he started to kill anyone who tried to come at his way. If you look at the tennis players that are involved in the game, their backgrounds are not very similar to other tennis players. • 7. Characteristics Of A Resilient Business Organization The word resilience comes from the latin world salire , which means to spring up and the word resilire which means to spring back as well as resilo which means the ability to rebound or jump back (Resnick, Lisa, and Gwyther, 2011; Dalziell and McManus, 2004; Pflanz and Lewis, 2012; Rochas, Kuznecova and Romagnoli, 2014). A theoretical model is presented identifying the pertinent features that characterize a resilient business organization. Drawing on the systems theory literature, a business is firstly characterized in terms of its technical, social and economic sub systems. Secondly, the kinds of disruptions business system might need to guard against are identified according to local, national and global spheres of influence. Thirdly, that resilient business system must attend to the goals of redundancy, requisite variety and resources. Finally, when these attributes (sub systems, spheres of influence goals) are connected certain business artifacts become evident as critical to enabling organizational resilience. Resilience is seen as an organizational capability, to anticipate key events from emerging trends, constantly adapt to change and rapidly bounce back from disaster (Marcos, 2008). • 11. Methods to Determine Cable Size under Harmonic Condition In many methods, skin and proximity effects are very important. Another important parameter is alternative current (a.c.) resistance, rac. This parameter is frequency dependence. It can be shown that rac increased with the increased of frequency (Du, Burnett, (2000), (Demoulias, Labridis, Dokopoulos Gouramanis, 2007), (Desmet, Vanalme, Belmans, Van Dommelen, 2008). Some research papers used value from published graph such as by The Okonite Company and Anixter Inc. (The Okonite Company, 2001), (Anixter Inc., n.d.). However upon inspection, it was found that the graph is produced on the basis of fundamental frequency of 60 Hz and using imperial unit. Some other sources, although on 50 Hz as fundamental basis, give limited data such as (Moore, 1997), (Coates, n.d). As an alternative, formula from IEC 287 1 1 was used to calculate the rac (IEC, 1994). Skin and proximity effects are part of formula to calculate cable ampacity known as Neher McGrath (NM) method in 1957 (Blackledge, O Connell, Barrett Sung, 2012, 2012). However this method, according to the authors, could not handle a range of harmonic frequencies. In 1991, Ajit Hiranandani (AH) introduced a way to calculate temperature and ampacity of a cable using generalised finite difference model (Hiranandani, 1991). Holden Uses Defense Mechanisms Consequently, Holden uses defense mechanisms, as a means of preventing anxiety that would result from conscious awareness of disturbing impulses, wishes, or ideas arising from the id, (Nevid 471). Nevid explains that according to Freudian theory, defense mechanisms reside in the unconscious part of the human brain because if people were conscious of every single problem, people wouldn t be able to function. Therefore, Holden is subconsciously utilizing defense mechanisms in order to shield himself from confronting his problems. One major defense mechanism present in Holden s behavior is denial. Although defense mechanisms can help put off a certain problem for some time, relying on defense mechanisms is not always beneficial because it gives people reasons to act irrationally. This clarification of Freud s theory is strongly portrayed in Holden s exaggerated view of reality. His denial triggers delusional fantasies in Holden s mind that he doesn t seem to think deeply about. For example, when one rash thought entered into Holden s mind, he delivers an ultimatum to Sally, saying, ...Tomorrow morning we could drive up to Massachusetts and Vermont...We ll stay in cabin camps until the dough runs out. Then, when the dough runs out, I could get a job somewhere, and we could live somewhere with a brook and all and, later on, we could get married or something, (Salinger 132). At the age of sixteen, as if it s not unrealistic enough, he tries to persuade Sally. When Sally gives him a reality check, he practically rages at her. Holden is so blinded by the fantasy world he created for himself and his defense mechanisms were giving Holden an excuse to acting abnormally. • 23. The Battle Of Chancellorsville, Virginia The battle of Chancellorsville, Virginia was fought from April 30 through May 6, 1863. It was fought between the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia commanded by General Robert E. Lee, and the Federal Army of the Potomac commanded by Major General Joseph Hooker. The intent of this battle was for Major General Hooker s Union force to cross the Rappahannock River west of Chancellorsville in order to gain control of the Virginia Central and Fredericksburg rail lines; these rail lines were essential to the Army of Northern Virginia because they were the main supply lines to Richmond, the capitol of the Confederate states. The Union knew that by gaining the supply line to Richmond and defeating General Lee, was crucial because this would cause the Confederate strategic center of gravity to fall, essentially leading to an end of the Civil War. However, the Army of the Potomac lost the battle of Chancellorsville against General Lee s Army of Northern Virginia, and the Civil War raged on. • 24. Algonquian Culture Analysis When I was a little girl, my grandmother told me an Algonquian story of a man and his family who got lost during the harsh winter so they hid in a den near a valley. Soon, whatever food they had was all gone and the family started to starve with nothing to eat. The man soon grew so hungry he ate his eldest son, thinking that he had plenty other sons until more and more of his children fell victim to his gluttony. As his wife, the woman could do nothing but grieve the loss of her children up until the husband turned into such a horrible abomination that he did not care about his wife s safety and ate her as well. Grandmother explained to me that those stories were warnings to our people and the results of what can happen if we commit the sin of eating man flesh. The man is now recognized in the Algonquian culture as the first Wendigo. It was my fault that we got lost because I didn t consider how far we were from our tribe, and the severe threat of the white men that we heard stories of. The film mainly focused on the the first emperor era which was ruled by Qin Shi Huang, who unified China as one country, including its language and writing. He also is considered as one of the most crucial emperors in Chinese history because he burned many books that were written in my different languages, massacring the captured soldiers from war, which gave him the name of Slaughter. Qin Shi Huang was scared that his enemies would revenge him after his death, so he started to build his mausoleum while he was still emperor. Inside the mausoleum contained many kinds of statues like horses, birds, warriors, musician, acrobats and one of the famous objects, that archaeologists found is the Terracotta Army, which was built to protect Qin Shi Huang in the afterlife. On his scale of the mausoleum, modern people considered Qin Shi Huang had made a palace full of goods for himself after his death instead of just creating a simple mausoleum. Adolescents experience many emotional, biological and cognitive changes during this time. Teenagers struggle with their identity as social acceptance becomes an increasingly important factor in their lives. Cliques are formed in high school as a representation of a small group of people with common interests. Cliques are joined mostly by girls because it gives them a sense of security and confidence they may otherwise lack, but boys are known to join cliques as well. Cliques provide adolescents with a strong sense of self worth and can in fact help one grow as an individual, sharing common interests and values. Adolescents who appear with high social power tend to have similar qualities and group together. Those who are less popular tend to isolate themselves more while befriending others with a similarly low social status. Often times, those who are socially dominant are generally more influential, daring, physically attractive and socially appropriate. • 29. Public Safety Outweigh Petitioner s First Amendment Right C. The interest of public safety outweighs Petitioner s First Amendment right to record. Petitioner s recording posed an unreasonable risk to bystanders, passing motorist, and the police, essentially creating an inherently dangerous situation. Kelly v. Borough of Carlisle, 622 F.3d 248, 262 (3d Cir. 2010). The Third Circuit has firmly recognized that traffic stops are especially fraught with danger to police officers. Id. A traffic stop always poses danger because of its unpredictable nature, but even more so, when a potential suspect is on the loose. Petitioner was a suspect for a crime of several residential break ins, which a reasonable office would assume is armed and dangerous; thus creating a heightened risk to the officers safety. Furthermore, the Petitioner was stopped on the side of a road congested with traffic. If the officers do not maintain control of the situation, any unpredictable movement could result in grave injury; therefore, the police officers acted reasonably by minimizing the unnecessary danger added by Petitioner s recording during an already dangerous situation. D. Petitioner s recording is not a matter of public interest that carried any expressive or communicative purpose. The encounter Petitioner recorded is not a matter of public interest. • 36. History of American Poetry At its beginning, American poetry was extremely influenced by its European roots. This is evidenced by the fact that the first colonists were English, who also brought along their poetic styles and patterns. These European traits set the standard for the genesis of American poetry, which will later we further developed and adapted by Walt Whitman and Emily Dickinson, who are now considered to be the first great American poets. Because of the strong ties to European poetry, American poets wanted to distinguish themselves from their origins and began their crusade to build a new foundation for American poetry. Therefore, the 19th century began with high hopes for poetic accomplishment. The first comprehensive anthologies of American poetry appeared in the 1820s, 1830s, and 1840s. In the first half of the century poets sought to entertain, to inform, and to put into memorable language America s history, myths, manners, and topography, but they did not seek to forge a radical new poetic tradition. Their poetry built upon tradition, and they met the first great goal of American poetry: that it be able to compete in quality, intelligence, and breadth with British poetry. But just as they achieved this goal, poetic aspirations began to change. By the mid 19th century the new goal for American poetry was to create something very different from British poetry. The Soviet tanks shot into the crowds of people killing many, and injuring many others, they even shot into the crowds in West Germany that were rioting. The people of East Germany realized that they were trapped in East Germany, and if they wanted out they would have to risk their lives in doing so. In the late 1950 s approximately 8,000 to 10,000 people from East Germany left and each day they would move further and further west. Many of these people were from East Berlin, and the government of East Germany knew that they couldn t afford to loose all of these people. Their economy was suffering already, and with the loss of so many people the economy would be hopeless. Many of the people that were leaving were skilled trades men, or members of professions. There were many escape tunnels dug under the wall. The tunnel system was an unexpected resistance movement dug by hundreds of East Berlin students with thousands more willing to help. The first successful tunnel was in an East Berlin Graveyard. Mourners brought flowers to a grave and then dropped out of sight. More than half of the emigrants between 1949 and 1961 were under the age of 24. For people under 60 years old, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Concept Analysis Of Pain And Pain Concept Analysis of Pain The most common reason that people seek medical care is pain, and pain is the leading cause of disability (Peterson Bredow, 2013, p. 51; National Institute of Health, 2010). Pain is such an important topic in healthcare that the United States congress identified 2000 to 2010 as the Decade of Pain Control and Research (Brunner L. S., et al., 2010, p. 231). Unfortunatelly, patients are reporting a small increase in satisfaction with the pain management while in the hospital (Bernhofer, 2011). Pain assessment and treatment can be complex since nurses do not have a tool to quantify it. Pain is considered the fifth vital sign, however, we do not have numbers to guide our interventions. Pain is a subjective expirience that cannot be shared easily. Since nurses spend more time with patients in pain than any other healthcare provider, nurses must have a clear understanding of the concept of pain (Brunner, et al., 2010). Concept analysis main objective is to clarify ideas, to enhance critical thinking, and to promote communication (Rodgers Knafl, 2000). This paper will examine the concept of pain using Wilson s Steps of Concept Analysis (Rodgers Knafl, 2000). Concept analysis are particularly helpful in explaining ambiguous concepts (Rodgers Knafl, 2000). Pain is defined in multiple ways. Also, pain has is associated with a lot of misconceptions. This concept analysis objective is to bring clarity and to provide a deeper understanding of pain. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Symbols Of The Nobility And The Proletariat Symbols of aristocratic authority in Miss Julie, facilitate societal discussion on ethically acceptable behaviour as sexual, gender and class conflicts emerge through individuals having challenged hierarchal structure despite having internalized distinct ideological frameworks. Strindberg utilizes uncertainty and the reveling Midsummer atmosphere to justify aristocratic need for isolation in order to maintain a guise of dominance. Julie s failure to embody submissive characteristics and conform to social paradigms by alienating herself from the servitude, threatens the hierarchal structure, using social structure to dictate ethical behaviour within society. Hence, Julie s death is justified as necessary to reinstate social order through isolating and subjugating the proletariat. Liberation and freedom are impossible to obtain due to the anxiety producing agency of the Count, symbolizing the omnipresence of repressive Capitalist dictates due to the impact on psyche as a product of nurture. Symbols of authority existing only to perpetuate elite authority are present in Jean as he is socially alienated from the aristocracy, despite characteristically embodying the role. The juxtaposition of symbols of the aristocracy and the proletariat are present when Jean [is] in morning coat and bowler , symbolizing Jean s finer sensibilities and ability to apply these within correct social environments. Additionally, he attempts to assert himself within the formal social environment of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Importance Of The Colosseum The functions religious or otherwise, of the colosseum were irrelevant to the ultimate design of the architecture. Once the colosseum had been built it seems to have become the model for many, if not most, of those that followed (Hopkins and Beard 2005, 24). The Colosseum stands proudly upon the villainous Emperor Nero s once grand Valley of the Golden House, projecting the munificence of Imperial Roman Architecture of the Flavian period. Its ultimate design could be said to be formed through purpose or function. However, this does not do justice to the importance of architecture within Roman society (Thornton and Thornton in Lyes 1999, 2). The functions whether it be religious or otherwise, of the Colosseum were irrelevant to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The diameter of the entire Colosseum was thus reduced and convention disregarded to take into consideration this architectural feature. Looking in detail at the classical orders themselves which made up the levels of the façade and the 80 grand entrances of the Colosseum it would appear to not be revolutionary. However, if you engage with the architecture closer it reveals further Roman architectural ingenuity and the importance of the structures appearance. Traditionally Roman buildings saw the use of the classical Greek Doric order on ground levels (without bases) with the more decorative orders of Ionic and Corinthian stacked above this (Lyes 1999, 6). However, in the Colosseum these orders were stacked and used in a way which had no previous precedent in Roman architecture (Lyes 1999, 6). The design sees the orders dramatically reduced, which has the columns that are engaged within the structure constructed with bases, and the column shaft themselves missing the usual entasis of classic Greek orders, this all leads to a much simplified capital. Between each stacked order there is a triple facia architrave, a relatively plain designed freeze and cornice (Lyes 1999, 6). The use of the classical orders in this manner within the design of the Colosseum, without precedent, was in fact not structural but a façade or veneer. This allowed the ... • 49. John Calvin Essay John Calvin There are many people in history who have made a very big impact on their culture, times, and or religion. John Calvin was by far one of these few great people. He had such a big influence in the time which he lived from 1509 to 1564. John Calvin devoted almost his whole life to the promoting of Protestantism and made such a difference that his impact is still seen today in Christianity. Calvin was born in France and was the second son in his family of five brothers. He grew and then decided to go to the famous University of Paris to study to be a priest. His father then had a conflict with the bishop who employed him so he then turned to the study of law. While he was studying in Paris he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It did not turn out his way at all. This resulted in anti Protestant protests all over Paris, forcing him to flee for his own safety. He roamed Tramontana 2 from place to place and then ended up in Basle, Switzerland. This is where he started his writing. You see John Calvin was considered a quiet, timid natured man. The kind of man who would never fight in disputes. In his time there he really got to do the things he wanted to accomplish out of life. These were to study and learn about God and his holy word. After this he went to Geneva after getting kicked out for his teachings he got invited back to help turn the city around spiritually. He never held a political office in Geneva but he ruled with strictness and sin was punished. He had laws passed to promote Christian behaviour. Persecuted Protestants fled from all over Europe to reside here. One last thing Calvin is known for is his theology. This is put together in a Calvinism. The ideas of the Calvin doctrine are men are completely unable to save themselves with their own works. Salvation is a matter of God s choosing those who will be saved, and that God chooses without any consideration of a man s good works. If someone is chosen of God, there was no way they could ever reject Christ or fail to endure to the end of their Christian life. Finally, he taught that Jesus died only for the ... • 50. My Experience With Writing I don t think I ever wanted to be a writer: My experience with writing I walk into my bright, and decorative bedroom after a long, and tiring day of school. Turning on the lights, I steer towards my dresser set to retrieve my previously sharpened pencil and partially filled notebook. I find myself sitting on my fuschia papasan chair. With my notebook in my hand, I slowly open it to reveal a fresh clean sheet of paper. With peace and inspiration filling my mind, body, and soul, I begin to fill its pages with tried attempts of poetry and eventful situations of my day. A smile forms onto my lips as I stare at it. Writing about myself and experiences was all I knew. For days my English 12 class went by in a breeze. We were instructed to use Khan Academy, to learn something new. This site contained valuable information on a variety of topics. My English 12 teacher, began to explain that there was a method to his madness as far as the Khan Academy website. frustrations filled me from the top of my head to the very tip of my toes. I sat in my familiar seat at a table in the front of the classroom with my twin sister and a familiar associate with my laptop in my hand. Suddenly, I felt overwhelmed with intense feelings of anxiety and lack of motivation as my facilitator continued by informing the class about how not only were we required to write an essay that was due in a few weeks from that day, but also another that was due before we could graduate. He began handing out sheets ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
