Road To Genocide Essay
This essay will review the documentary Road to Genocide where Christian paramilitaries in Central
African Republic (CAR) carried out ethnic cleansing of the Muslim population during the state s
ongoing civil war. At the very outset of this video, a crumbling Central Africa is portrayed with utter
mayhem, horrendous acts of violence and human massacres. We will elaborate on how conflict in this
particular context is accentuated with reference to its socio economic, cultural, historical and political
factors.
Digging into the root cause of conflict in CAR
As a matter of fact, conflict is omnipresent and inevitable. People s reaction to conflict varies in
different levels, it can be competing, collaborating, compromising, avoiding or even accommodating
(Thomas and Kilmann, 1974). In this video, the main conflict is between the Seleka (the Muslims) and
the Anti Balaka (the Christians). Here, the blatant style is competing from the ends of the Anti Balaka,
who assertively want the Muslims to leave the land at all cost; the Seleka on the other hand are
hopelessly fleeing for their lives.
From an overall perspective, it is clear that human conflict does not occur in ... Show more content on

He beautifully explains how just as lightning a match would ignite an explosion, so a movement of
social time might immediately cause a conflict (Black, 2011). It is interesting to note how conflict can
also be affected by regional factors and how events in neighboring states can impact on the scenarios
for violence (Skrede Gleditsch, 2008). In the video, the neighboring state Chad played a crucial role in
overthrowing the president. The documentary also demonstrates how some people (both Christians
and Muslims) shared the view that transnational ties with France constituted an important role in
spreading the

Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde
The dark never sleeps at night When night comes, dark comes. Throughout Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll
and Mr. Hyde, dark actions have been committed repeatedly at night. All the evil incidents that have
happened in the novel, namely, the night Mr. Enfield met Mr. Hyde for the first time when he was
trampling over a girl, the night of Carew s murder incident, the night that shocked Mr. Lanyon to his
further death, and the last might of Dr. Jekyll s life, all was done by Mr. Hyde. Mr. Hyde does not
sleep at night. Dr. Jekyll tries to keep his original form in the day and, if possible, transforms to be Mr.
Hyde only at night. Due to the fact that the day is Dr. Jekyll s time, time for his honourable career, Mr.
Hyde should not have emerged in the midday. On the other hand, Hyde is allowed to have done dark
actions at night, because, at night, it s time for people to sleep, it s time when people mostly down
their guard. In other words, it s time when one s subconscious is released, perhaps by dreams. One
step beyond us, Dr. Jekyll releases his subconscious through his another appearance, Mr. Hyde. All the
dark actions are done by him, Dr. Jekyll s subconscious form. ... Show more content on

Jekyll and for Mr. Hyde. To make it clearer, it is Stevenson s tool of how to separate them in term of
using time. Day for Jekyll and Night for Hyde. Anyway, the problem of differentiating time of these
two characters might be that even dark actions in the story happens at night, good or normal actions
are not restricted to happen only in day time. Dr. Jekyll organised his night party as well. Honourable
Dr. Jekyll can live in day and night. The use of time supports the idea where Jekyll mention that Hyde
is pure evil but he is normal people like all human being, mixed out of good and evil

How Plasmodium Affects The Cardiovascular System
Plasmodium is a parasite with over 100 species, but only four directly affect humans( Malaria
Parasites ). This parasite affects the circulatory system, or cardiovascular system. It s structured of
many things, and some structures are in common with animals or human cells. Even though it s
microscopic in size, it can cause a lot of damage. The parasite gets into the body from mosquitoes and
infects the bloodstream of the circulatory system.
Plasmodium affects the cardiovascular system. The cardiovascular system includes the heart, blood
vessels, and blood; it links all the parts of the body. This system carries needed materials such as
oxygen to the cells and it also takes the waste products away, like carbon dioxide. It also transports
cells that attacks disease causing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the infecting agent gets into the human s bloodstream they invade the liver within an hour; the
parasite then takes about 15 days to mature(Collins, Jeffery, E.). The infecting agent divides and forms
plasmodium merozoites which are then released into the bloodstream and infect red blood cells(
Plasmodium ). The plasmodium is an oval shaped cell, measured at about .00006 inches long and
.00004 inches wide. Plasmodium has a pellicular cisterna which makes up the golgi apparatus. The
apparatus receives materials and sends them to other parts of the cell. The plasma membrane forms the
external boundary and the merozoite coat acts like the cell membrane which lets things in and out of
the cell. It has an apicoplast that allows the parasite to invade host cells, and microtubules that work
with the inner membrane to give bulkiness to the cell. The micronemes help the cell invade the host,
and the polar rings, apical end, rhoptries and dense granules all help it invade the cell. Plasmodium
also has some things in common with animal or human cells: a nucleus, ribosomes, and a
mitochondria( Structure of Plasmodium

John Muir Preservationism
Conserving means to protect (something, especially an environmentally or culturally important place
or thing) from harm or destruction. John Muir, a famous preservationist is someone I agree with
completely, his idea of preservationism is the best way to help our earth. Not damming Hetch Hetchy
Valley was what really drew me into him. He believed that politicians were using nature as a way to
get material gains. Muir believed that nature should be protected and should be kept beautiful. He
states at one point that everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in where
nature may heal and cheer and give strength to body and soul alike. (Who was John Muir? The Sierra
Club ) He s saying that beauty is just as crucial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
John believed that turning places into national parks would be a great way to conserve them, this
allows for wild life and plants to be monitored and kept under control. With his great love for the idea
of national parks, came a lot of pro s for the environment. Biodiversity plays an important role in
national parks, biodiversity helps to keep environments clean and healthy for wild life. It allows for
climate regulation, pollination and water purification. Yosemite National Park was one of Muir s
creates accomplishments. He first traveled there in 1868 an loved the beauty and scenery so much that
he decided to come back the next year and get a job as a rancher. Soon he became very concerned
about natural landscape preservation. John Muir, being a preservationist, makes him the most
admirable choice because he believed in protecting wild places for the sake of people and the sake of
the well being of the earth. Pinchot, Muir s opposite, believed that conservation went hand in hand
with development and that damming Hetch Hetchy would improve supplies in San Fransisco. The
difference between conservationism and preservationism is that most times conservation focuses more
on the needs of human beings. Preservationism is more focused on maintaining where the earth is at
the time and the areas that are touched by humans. This idea helps to stop the invasion of human
beings taking over open land and making them into farms and industries for developmental gain. This
means that whatever we can preserve now, we can have in the future. A balance between the two
would be difficult because of how strongly these opposing sides feel about the environment and what
should be done in its best interest. I don t feel that a balance is possible because a lot of times human
needs are the reason for natures destruction such as knocking down forests for paper, and building
dams to help increase a water supply. Not only do these human needs take away

The Importance of Psychotherapy and Medication in the Treatment of Bulimia Nervosa
This researched argument is on the disorder of bulimia nervosa. The reason behind my writing about
the topic of bulimia is because my sister suffers from it and I want to know how to help her. I also
would like to be able to share the information I obtained while doing my research. I want to argue the
importance of having both psychotherapy and medication in the treatment for the people afflicted with
this serious health disorder. Society needs to be altered by the media and educated about the disorders
of bulimia and other disorders that are associated with eating problems. Hopefully my essay will

Sometimes the person that suffers from bulimia is in denial that they are being sick or affecting others.
Bulimia is an especially serious disease that does not only hurt the bulimic, but also everyone that
loves that person who is suffering. The main reason that I researched the disorder of bulimia is
because my sister suffers from bulimia nervosa. I have personally witnessed my sister¹s body and
health decay is very upsetting. The disorder also puts a strain on the entire family. No one wants to
watch a person¹s self inflicted starvation. Unfortunately many people who know someone suffering
from bulimia do not know how to help.
What is bulimia and how to notice the signs that the person you love has this serious disorder? By
definition, bulimia nervosa is a multifaceted disorder with psychological, physiologic, developmental
and cultural components. This definition states that there is no single underlying factor that causes this
disorder. A person may have a genetic predisposition for contracting this disorder. There are also other
factors that can cause an individual to become bulimic. There are two predisposing factors and they
are psychological and personality. Examples of psychological and personality factors are
perfectionism, impaired self concept, affective instability, poor impulse control and an absence of an
adaptive functioning to maturational task and developmental stresses. Relationships between parents
and peers can have affects on

Video Game Reflection Paper
When I was little, I loved to try lots of new things. Games, toys, candy; but I had never heard of video
games. Until one day on the bus, my neighbor told me that he had a Wii. I had seen commercials for it,
and it looked fun. Originally I never wanted one because it was so expensive. That night when I went
over to his house, my life would never be the same. Later that day I went over to his house. Ordinarily
we run around, shoot each other with face guns, and do other things like that. I was getting antsy
though, so we went inside after only 45 minutes. We got inside and then I saw it, the white Wii sitting
on the entertainment center next to the TV. What games do you have? I asked.
The only game I have is Mario Kart, he replied, so that is what we played. Since I had never played it
before I was terrible. Three games in a row, I got 12th out of 12. After, about an hour of playing I
started to notice that I was passing the computers (other racers) and getting 7th 4th place on average.
Nevertheless, I soon had to leave, but I was much better than when I started.
Besides having so much fun on the Wii, I rarely got to play on it. I had played on it here and there, but
not a lot. I kept asking my parents for a Wii, they only said no, but then when it got closer to
Christmas they started to tantalize me by answering with maybe for Christmas. That got me very
excited. That year I was probably on my best behavior ever. On the day of Christmas I kind of forgot

Hollywood Studios And The Movie Industry Essay
Many Hollywood studios were prosperous in the international movie industry. These studios improved
American Films and continue to be affluent today.
Hollywood was the birthplace of movie studios, which were of great importance to America s public
image in the movie industry. The earliest and most affluent film companies were Warner Brothers
Pictures, Paramount, RKO, Metro Goldwyn Mayer, and 20th Century Fox, each of whom owned their
own film production sets and studios. Universal, United, and Columbia Pictures were also considered
noteworthy, despite not owning their own theaters, while Disney, Monogram, and Republic were
considered third tier. (History Cooperative)
These studios composed The Big Five , the film studios that controlled Hollywood for over fifty years
and distributed an estimated 90% of Fiction films around the world: Warner Brothers Pictures (WBO),
Paramount, RKO (Radio Keith Orpheum), Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM), and 20th Century Fox.
These studios were similar, but they had some unique traits that defined their studios such as MGM s
iconic lion roar introduction and Paramount s greatest stars of the 1920s with Rudolph Valentino,
Mary Pickford, and Douglas Fairbanks. With an enormous public image, these studios managed to
earn millions and improved the film industry in America. Due to the enormous success of The Big
Five , other studios such as Universal, United, and Columbia Pictures were overshadowed and
struggled to persevere in the film industry.

Impacts Of Coal Mining On The Environment
Coal mining can have seriously adverse environmental and related impacts, including interference
with groundwater quantity and quality, land subsidence, impacts on river flows and consequential
impact on other land uses, issues associated with mining wastes disposal, creation of geological
hazards . . . and potential ecological havoc (Bian et al., The Impact of Disposal and Treatment of Coal
Mining Wastes on Environment and Farmland 1). Coal, a commodity that the world depends on as a
vital economic player and energy resource, is extracted from the ground at a very costly price to the
environment. It is a major energy source that provides about 40% of the electricity that the world
consumes, and the consumption of coal has grown dramatically in recent years. Not only is coal a
major energy producer, but it is also a vital player in many countries economies, employing millions
across the world both directly and indirectly. Unfortunately, since coal is so important to the economy
and energy production, there is often little regard for the impacts that it has on the environment when
being extracted. In broad a generalization, coal mining techniques can be broken down into two
categories: surface mining and underground mining (the first involving techniques that stay above
ground and the latter using tunneling). Although environmental implications may vary slightly
between the two methods of coal extraction, there are a number of issues that are the result of both

Essay on Physics of Soccer
Physics of Soccer
I. Introduction
Soccer is a sport that s very challenging and during the course of this semester I ve found physics can
also be described as challenging. As far as I was concerned soccer and physics were both challenging
and that was all they had in common, consequently upon researching them both this semester I found
that I was wrong. For me this was nothing new because I ve found that physics isn t a subject that can
be skimmed, but rather it has to be studied to the finest detail. Those small details if missed can make
all your efforts worthless. Or on the positive side understanding those details can make your efforts
worth it in the end. And in soccer if you understand the physics, which to most players ... Show more

Defensively in soccer speed is sometimes slowed down and skilled footwork may be needed. How a
player uses speed or velocity depends on the situation, but if just one isn t done skillfully a player may
not end up making the play as planned.
III. Distance
The distance that you are able to kick the ball can be summed up with the equation for distance, d=RT,
distance equals rate multiplied by the time. So speed and time are both very important when kicking
the ball because it directly affects the distance. Soccer players vary the distances that they want to kick
the ball. Skilled players can estimate very quickly how fast to make the ball move to make it go where
they need it to. Before learning this equation in physics I just thought you kicked the ball, but now I
know that when this equation is applied to soccer it means so much more. Soccer players can use this
to help them judge how hard and fast they need to be able to kick the ball to make it go a certain
distance. This is just another example of how physics, the small details, can be used to improve ones
soccer skills.
IV. Momentum
Momentum can be defined as the product of the inertial mass and the velocity, p=mv (Kirkpatrick,
106). When relating this equation to soccer it can be directly interchanged with the mass of the player
and their speed/direction. So a player must be not only quick, but have the mass to gain the
momentum needed. When the

The First Film Of The Dardenne Brothers
The first film of the Dardenne Brothers relates a story about Igor, a fifteen year old boy, whom his
main priority is to complete the construction of his kart. He lives with his father, who does not see any
problems in smuggling illegal immigrants as he exploits them unscrupulously. To Igor, this only seems
the natural order of things, however, things eventually start to crumble when he promises an African
man, who fell from a scaffolding during construction work and is about to die, to look after his wife
and son. This is Igor s first step away from the omnipotence of his father. The realism of the Dardenne
brothers is eximious to an extent that his characters are completely human, rowdy, and intense with a
thought provoking moral fight between what s right and wrong. The Dardenne brothers presented a
world providing a silent revolution inside the art film with an unmistakable mark, humanist realism. A
hand held film following the characters as we dive to discover more of the narrative as the conflicts
start to unfold. A sordid story about illegal immigration, moral failure of principles, a tutorial about
social dilemmas faced by a new Europe and an emotional odyssey of a boy who seeks to acknowledge
his own awareness when evolves his own code of values. Olivier Gourmet and Jérémie Renier, who
returned in other works of the directors, father and son, respectively, wrestling with immigration. As

Post Ww2 Compare And Contrast
Compare and Contrast: Urban Redevelopment and Housing in the U.S., Europe, and Asia This paper
is written to compare and contrast urban redevelopment and housing in the U.S., Europe, and Asia in
the post WWII era. Being aware of the fact that housing was indeed an integral part of urban
redevelopment in the postwar era, the following analysis of urban redevelopment will focus on the
larger picture, while that of housing would pay more attention to the details. Specifically, for urban
redevelopment, planning ideas and the level of inequality in different countries are examined, and with
regard to housing, I would like to analyze their architectural features. First of all, the planning ideas
that guided the process of urban redevelopment in different countries vary to a significant extent. In
Japan, priority was given to improve the urban road network. As a consequence, broad arterial roads
were planned, and green areas were provided at the fringe. The redevelopment of the city of Nagoya
revealed ambitious efforts. In this city, two 100 meter wide boulevards that served as the axes was
constructed, and a large number of parks were established. While according to the Tokyo plan, an
extensive network of ring and radial parkways, greenbelts, and corridors were built in order to
restructure Tokyo and subdivide it into many smaller sub cities. On the outskirts, a permanent
greenbelt would be formed where development would be constrained. Additionally, most of the
population were

Nation Branding-Best Practices Through Sports, Laws and...
Sports:
Another factor of substantial importance which plays an active role in nation branding is how the
country portrays itself in various sports. Before we look in to the aspects of this, excerpts from the
recent interview with Mr Simon Anholt, the brilliantly caustic, not conventions driven and outspoken
nation branding (or as he prefers, policy advisor ) expert, by Germany s Deutschland Magazine about
the relationship between sports and nation branding and sportsmen and nation brands only weeks

Hosting the 2006 Soccer World Cup catapulted Germany to the top of the NBI in 2007 and 2008 ...
Yes indeed, but as I predicted, the effect didn t last very long. Enhancing a country s image is a relay
race, not a sprint, and countries need to become obsessive about asking themselves What do we do
next? Germany hasn t followed up on its World Cup success, so people are starting to revert to their
previous beliefs about the country. This always happens and it can only be prevented by projecting a
constant, unbroken stream of dramatic evidence that the country deserves the reputation it desires.
Even in countries where Germany did not previously enjoy a great reputation, the country s image was
massively enhanced after what has gone down in the history books as Germany s summer fairytale .
Does this mean that some elements of the brand essence are in fact very volatile, in other words, nice
weather, high spirits, exciting matches is all it takes to change an image? Is it really that simple?
No, they really aren t volatile at all: quite the contrary. National image is more like a fixed asset than a
liquid capital, and normally can t be changed at all. Nothing could be more difficult than changing any
of these attributes. I have great respect for the way in which Germany managed to move the needle on
its image during the World Cup, in exactly the way it wanted to, but it hasn t been able to make this
sustainable. One must distinguish

7 HARDEST SONGS TO SING
Narrator: Songs are words set to music and meant to be sung. Some people are born with innate
abilities to sing well that amaze and melt our hearts. But not all people just find it easy in fact even
talented singers also find some songs that are difficult to sing. In this video, I will reveal 7 hardest
songs to sing. No 7. Over the Rainbow Over the Rainbow is a song by Judy Garland. This song is
difficult in a way that the singer will simply sing this ballad with enough emotions to enthral the
audience and take them with the journey. It s not technical versatility that makes it difficult. My
mother made an impressive latte art with food colors. She calls it coffee rainbows. No 6. I will always

Even talented singers find this song as one of the hardest to sing especially the chorus because it is not
easy to hit the high note so other singers just change it the way they can handle. Balloons are scared of

No 4. Loving You Loving You is a classic soul genre of Minnie Riperton under the album, Perfect
Angel released in 1974. It is necessary that you have the right voice for this song because only very
few can pull off a falsetto most especially the smooth and tender. It is a song of technical articulation.
No 3. Wuthering Heights Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush is one of the hardest songs to sing because
of the key changes, the transition to the chorus and the signature changes. To sing this song well, your
voice must suit to this song with balance and power or else you may end up sounding like wails.
No 2. Dream On Dream On was written by Steven Tyler on and off for six years and sung by
Aerosmith. This song is about hunger to be somebody and dream until dreams come true. It is
considered as one of the hardest songs to sing because of the number of vocal slides and long notes. A

For more than 30 years before Reagan took office, the United States and its allies had tried
unsuccessfully to rein in communism. Reagan believed that communism in the Soviet Union was
eroding and ready to crumble, expecting its collapse if competitively challenged by America. An arms
race had been ongoing between the U.S. and Russia for some time. Reagan, however, was determined
to put an end to it. Reagan began the competition with a very costly project known as the Strategic
Defense Initiative, aimed at neutralizing incoming Soviet missiles. This shocked the Soviet Union,
which was economically unable to match this rapid escalation of the arms race (CITE).
After winning his second term as president, Ronald Reagan established what is now known as The
Reagan Doctrine, which provided support, both financially and militarily, for anti communist fighters
throughout Africa, Asia and Latin America (CITE). The policy s goal was to eliminate tyrannical
governments and promote individual liberties, freedom, and democracy. The Reagan doctrine became
the centerpiece of the Reagan administration by successfully stopping the Soviet Union from
spreading its communist control over specific regions of the world.

Sexually Transmitted Diseases Are A Type Of Disease
Sexually transmitted diseases are a type of disease that can be passed from person to person by many
forms of sexual contact. These different forms of contact can be oral, anal, or vaginal. STDs are seen
in different forms such as bumps, rashes, or unseen to the naked eye. Some common STDs are
chlamydia, herpes, syphilis, and HIV/AIDS. A person of any gender, race, or age can get an STD but
there is different stigma attached to that person depending on their gender. Gender influences people
to view the STD and that person who has it differently. This paper is set out to find why gender affects
people s views of STDs and how moral panic can set in depending on the STD. The topic of women
and STDs are not a good mix when it comes to society s opinions. According to the article titled
Damaged goods: women managing the stigma of STDs To understand the individual level experience
of living with a chronic STD, it is important to take into account how these infections are symbolically
constructed in American culture. (Nack, A p. 97) There is a certain stigma against women who have
had or currently have an STD. A stigma is a set of negative and often unfair beliefs that a society or
group of people have about something. (Meriam Webster) This stigma is attached to women because
they are considered to be damaged goods when they have or had an STD. This feeling of being
damaged can come from the woman herself or others. When a woman has an STD she can lose her

effect of Adolf Hitler s personal life Every year more than 3.6 million referrals are made to child
protection agencies involving more than 6.6 million children (a referral can include multiple children)
(ChildHelp). There are so many influences on children. Children that have a parent that drink or beat
them up for no reason at all. Children have a hard life if their parents neglect them or abuse them.
Influences that are so small can change the child s life forever. Hitler s adult life was affected by his
personal family life in his youth, being rejected by an Art School, and his service in World War I.

Gun History Essay
Gun History/Development:
What is the history of guns and gun building throughout the world?
Over 43% of Americans own a gun for either sporting or protection ( 21 unbelieveable ). Guns have
been improved throughout many years and there are still many people making many improvements
yet today. The history and evolution of guns improved by the creators who made them and how the
improvements better helped the gun overall are some of the things you will find in this paper. Some
background of gunpowder started with a man named Berthold Schwarz. He was a German monk who
was the first to make gunpowder around the 1300s. He also invented the first gun which wasn t
technically a gun but a huge heavy cannon which used gunpowder to fire (Kevin 4). ... Show more

After people got tired of dragging around a huge heavy cannon they then made a smaller handled
cannon but it was still very hard to aim because you had to hold it with one hand and light it with the
other (Supica, Jim). The Arquebuses were the first handheld gun that didn t need to be lit by match or
fuse. Also with the Arquebuse being able to be held with two hands and not having to lit by hand made
it way more accurate than earlier guns (14). The Arquebuse also greatly helped to create the musket
which had a better more advanced ignition system. The musket first began to be used during the
1400s. Then muskets helped to design the flintlock (14). Also by the mid 1400s people began to
develope handguns or pistols. By the 1500s people were able to make pistol effective to about four
feet. One bad thing was how long the pistols took to reload so they then began to design and create the
revolver (18). Then around 1833 the very first breech loader was created. A breech loader is loaded
from the back of the gun instead of the front making it a lot quicker and easier to reload. Then shortly
after in around 1840 they began to mass produce the first revolver called the pepperbox (Supica,

Archetypes Carl Jung
Carl Jung was a Swiss innovator progressing various theories of the unconscious mind. The Swiss
psychotherapist based his work on Sigmund Freud s perspectives and beliefs of the unconscious mind.
Carl Jung had deducted that a human s unconscious personality could not have started in the cognizant
personality. The thought that certain ideas and pieces of imagination within the unconscious were
shared to all individuals within a society was assumed by Jung. This mental imagery were claimed as
Archetypes by Jung (hence the term Jungian archetypes ) due to the images being ubiquitous and all
inclusive to humans. A famous example of a Jungian archetype is the structure of the father and
mother. Carl Jung later assumed through his work that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

believe this to a very small extent. In the terms of that our human ancestors have greatly melded and
mixed over time to where almost all of modern society has genetic ties, then absolutely. I say this
because genetics can influence the way humans think, physically endure the environment, survive, etc.
There may be a great similarity in the way humans are physically constructed due to genetics. This
aspect can also greatly affect brain structure. Assuming that a human s brain works similarly to his or

subconscious symbolism that can mean something very much

Critique of The Importance of the Person in the Role of Teacher Quality relationships between
students and teachers are foundational to an effective learning environment. David Hansen, author to
The Importance of the Person in the Role of Teacher shares his observations of three teachers that
have established good relationships with their students. The relationship between these teachers and
their students is strong and genuine, so that these teachers have a positive influence in their students

can teachers have a positive influence on their students behavior and learning? Hansen s answer to the

In my practice, I prioritize treating my students with respect. I believe that respect is the foundation
which grounds the sense of community in my class. Respect also begets the trust that is essential to
engage students in their learning. Viewing students as persons in the making, allows to approach
student learning holistically. Ms. Smith, in an interview with Hansen, states learning subject matter
involves learning how to conduct oneself confidently and wisely (Hansen, 1998, p.401). This
statement rings true to me, as I agree, student learning is not reserved to subject content only but
encompasses the student s sense of self and capability. Guiding the student to develop their sense of

My Family And My Life
Today, my family and I are finally leaving. We have been debating on leaving for the past week or so.
We have recently lost all of our money. My dad wants to go and earn money in We live in Greece and
it is about 100 miles to the coast where our ship will board. I am taking as many clothes as possible
and I am taking my old teddy bear that I have had since the day I was born. We walked for days,
taking breaks when possible and finding shelter during storms. Then one day my father said , Look,,
there it is... the ship. It had gig text on the side that said Nevada At this point I was trembling and the
hairs on the back of my neck were standing up. As we were boarding the ship the scent of people who

room under the ships deck. It wasn t a few minutes after we set our bags down next to our bunks that
we felt the ship jerk. We were moving! My whole family looked at each other and despite the terrible
odor and sounds of the ship creaking, we smiled. For what felt like an eternity we rocked and swayed
with the motion of the waves and water. We were served the worst food you could ever imagine. It
looked like baby food, they must have just thrown things into a blender and dumped it on a plate. My

Francisco Goya The Third Of May Essay
For my writing assignment, I chose to discuss The Third of May, by Francisco Goya. On May 2, 1808,
hundreds of Goya s countrymen rebelled against the French. On May 3, these Spanish freedom
fighters were rounded up and put to death by the French. Francisco Goya was in a tough position
because he had supported the French Revolution, but the slaughter of his countrymen and the horrors
of war made him change his tune and had a profound effect on the artist. This painting is acclaimed as
one the great paintings of all time and has even been called the world s first modern painting. The
work of art itself is in the early hours of the morning taking after the uprising and spotlights on two
gatherings of men: a firing squad, and a scattered gathering or hostages held at gunpoint. There is a
row of French soldiers aiming for a Spanish man, who puts his arms up in accommodation both to the
officers and to his sure demise. There is a slope/hill behind him that represents an executioner s wall.
There is a heap of grisly dead bodies that lie at his feet, painting the territory with their gushing blood.
On his other side, you can see a line of his fellow countryman that can be seen extending out of the
scene. You can see that they cover their eyes to abstain from watching the butcher of their kindred
Spaniard, and they realize that death is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

non descriptive, making the artistic creation an immortal bit of workmanship. This is unquestionably
why this piece of work remains emotionally charged

„Three Mines Policy‟
The „Three Mine Policy‟ became effective after the Labor Party was voted into power in 1983. In the
same month as taking office the new Federal Labour Government revoked the negotiating licences of
the uranium companies in Australia. The Ranger and Narbarlek mines were relicensed after
reapplication and in November of 1983
Caucus voted to approve the Roxby Downs project (today known as Olympic Dam) and prevent the
operation of any new uranium mines. In the 1984 ALP National Conference the Government amended
its party platform and its new position became known as the „Three Mines Policy‟. (Panter, Kay
1994)
In 2007 the newly appointed Prime Minister Kevin Rudd announced a change in uranium mining
policy which led to the end of the 23 year old „Three mine policy‟ in order to promote the future of

The Risks Caused By Foreign Currency Derivatives On The...
Nestlé S.A. is a Swiss company and owns a prestigious position being the world s leading nutrition,
health and wellness group (Nestlé, 2016). According to its annual report (2015), this company is
exposed to many risks caused by movements in foreign currency exchange rates, interest rate and
market prices. The foreign exchange risk comes from transactions and translations of foreign
operations in Swiss Francs (CHF). The interest rate risk faces the borrowings at fixed and variable
rates. The market price risk comes from commodity price and equity price. The former risk arises
from world commodity market for the supplies of coffee, cocoa beans, sugar and others. The later risk
arises from the fluctuations of the prices of investments held. (Nestle annual reports, 2015). Thus,
financial derivatives instruments are used by this multinational corporation in order to hedge these
risks.
Moreover, because of the huge worldwide extension of the corporation, which operates in 194
countries, the use of foreign currency derivatives to minimize the earnings volatility would be the
subject of later analysis. The report will focus on how Nestlé uses futures and option contracts to
hedge its exposure to currency risk, centering our attention in Nestlé Home Currency, the Swiss Franc
in relation to the US Dollar (USD/CHF). It will be examined an example of its hedging strategy and
the information provided by a contact in the firm.

The Cultural Expectations And Rules
Norms
A norm is something that is standard in society. Within sociology, it is specifically the cultural
expectations and rules that a person within the culture is supposed to uphold. Norms tell an individual
how they should behave within a certain situation. According to Saul McLeod of Simply Psychology
(2008), people are expected to behave in a way that is not random. Norms are social standards that are
agreed upon by a society so that members of a culture do not deviate into areas that others would
consider abnormal and wrong. Also norms vary by culture, so one culture that has an agreed upon and
socially practiced norm may vary from another culture that does not do the same thing and instead has
different norms. Each culture s norms differ based on beliefs and customs.
Norms are a general category of social rules. Taboos, laws, mores, and folkways are all norms. A
taboo is something that a culture forbids. Laws are strictly enforced formal rules by the government or
social powers within a culture. A more is a norm related to morals; what is deemed right or not within
a particular society. Also folkways are customs that are socially accepted, but are not strictly enforced.
Following norms are important because an individual is only socially accepted if they follow the set
norms.
The norm that I violated is a norm within American culture. It is a violation of a norm to clip your
toenails when around a group of other individuals within this culture. This norm is

The Cost Of Medicare And Reduce Its Proportion Of The...
Several suggestions have been proposed to cut the cost of Medicare and reduce its proportion of the
federal budget. These include;
a) The introduction of voucher system that would enable for the more privatization in the offering of
insurance policies for Medicare.
b) Increasing the Medicare revenues by raising the payroll taxes that are charged on the beneficiaries.
Unhealthy lifestyle choices like smoking also need to be penalized by Medicare so as to reduce the
many claims related to such habits.
c) Cutting down the Medicare expenses through elimination of frauds, raising of eligibility age to 67,
and seeking program discounts from medical companies like drug manufacturers.
Fraud and waste of resources allocated for Medicare pose major risks to the program. Medicare is very
vulnerable to a number of frauds majorly due to the fact that the program is hardly audited. Medicare
scams occur in various ways that include phantom billing where healthcare providers demand money
from Medicare for services not offered. The other form of fraud happens in the shape of patient billing
where the patients collude with scammers to claim for kickbacks for false medical treatments. The last
type of fraud is the upcoding scheme and unbundling, where bills are inflated by claiming that a
patient needs more valuable services or procedures than the existing. The government has been
sensitizing the general public on the need to avoid such frauds by not disclosing their Medicare card
details to

Advantages Of Superior Singing Method
Think you can t sing? Believe it or not, this is one of the most common misconceptions we have about
ourselves. While it s correct that some people have been blessed with the golden voice, the simple
truth is that anyone can learn to sing better than they do now. When it comes down to it, using your
voice is just like using any other instrument. For example, have you ever tried playing a violin without
any violin lessons beforehand? The resulting screeching sound would probably have you think you re
not cut out for playing the violin, but the truth is that you just don t have the necessary skills yet.
Singing is just like that you need to put in the hours in order to get better.
That said, learning to sing properly is not something that can be picked up easily. If you re not taking
the correct singing lessons, you ll probably just end up straining your vocal chords with little to no
benefits to show for it. That s why I wanted to talk you through an interesting singing method that
should help you improve your singing ability in a reasonable period of time. It s called the Superior
Singing Method, and it s tremendously effective at what it sets out to do.
How Does It Work?

The plane is the horizontal plane and the vertical plane is defined perpendicular to the ellipsoid such a
coordinate system is also called a local horizontal coordinate system. From figure 1. can be described,

Wealth In Haiti

happens to be humans. They are entrenched in greed and power. The rulers there have ensured Haiti s
despair. Things like soil erosion, bad education system, illiteracy, unemployment, inadequate roads,
water systems, sewerage, and medical services are also some of the causes of Haiti s despair. The

There will always be someone else trying to sell your product for less money. Many monopolies are
enforced by government. One example would be operating a cab in New York City. You would need a
government issued medallion. The number of medallions are fixed which develops profits for initial
owners. The profits are not because of talents or resources, instead these profits come by the absence
of government enforcement of the medallion requirement. The government enforcement of
monopolies is an attempt to solve market failure. An example would be New York City enforcing the
medallion rules because they are under the assumption that if they don t restrict cabs, there would be a
lot more traffic jams in the city. When government enforcement of monopolies is appointed for the
well being of subset being granted a monopoly instead of the well being of society, that is when greed
steps in. But monopolies can also improve welfare. For instance, a drug company developing new
heart medication will pay lots of money in research and development for perfecting the drug without
selling anything to achieve revenue. It anticipates that it will sell under a patent over some period of
time and cover the development cost. If you take away the monopoly it takes away the motivation to
produce better drugs. So if markets are not competitive then greed isn t really a problem. It is only a

would be no doubt that some form of opposition would be present. The opposition came in forms of
the ANC and PAC primarily, two resistance parties in support of the improvement of Blacks

unsuccessful due to their lack for de jure change in the system.

King Leopold and the Belgian Congo Essay
King Leopold and the Belgian Congo
It is widely debated why exactly King Leopold decided to conquer the Congo, but the general
consensus seems to be that it was out of the belief that the highlands of the Congo may be as rich in
gold as the mountains of the western slope of the American Continent (Stead). In the mid 1870s, the
King hired Henry Stanley, who was familiar with many parts of Africa, to help him go about
conquering. During the following years Stanley stayed in Africa, talking various tribes into signing
over their lands and rights. After this was completed the King officially took over the Congo,
renaming it the Congo Free State. This was especially ironic because all natives of the country were

Eventually, word started to spread about what was going on. The public had strongly believed that the
natives were benefiting from being civilized through their forced labor. However, between disgusted
Belgian officials and authors such as Joseph Conrad and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the truth was
becoming clearer. In 1904, the Congo Reform Association was founded. Four years later, King
Leopold was made to turn over the Belgian Congo to the Belgian government. Much of the collected
evidence against him was in the form of photographs. The king had managed to successfully bribe
almost every single person who might otherwise have made a witness against the goings on in the
Belgian Congo, as it was renamed after being handed over to the Belgian government. This did very
little good for the people of the Congo; they were still being overworked, repressed, and denied basic
human rights. The situation was more than a little embarrassing for the king, who disliked his
authority being overshadowed. Still, his profit from the matter was no cause for complaint. Leopold s
original investment was said to be somewhere in the neighborhood of six and a half million dollars;
the financial gain was that number, multiplied many times over. Compared to Belgium s profit, during
its time of colonization the population of the Congo was decreased by

Truman Capote s Meaning Of Truman Pary And The Duality Of...
Although Truman Capote recognizes the duality of Perry, he uses language complexities to demonize
Dick; therefore he argues people with mental health issues deserve help while those who choose their
behaviors deserve harsher punishments.
Amplification embellishes the artwork that Capote illustrates. In the beginning, he paints the picture of
Perry as naive and gentle, which contrasts with Dick who was heartless and arrogant. Later, a picture
of Dick s past as a teenager is elaborated: An outstanding athlete always on the first team at school.
Basketball! Baseball! Football! Dick was always the star player. A pretty good student, too, with A
marks in several subjects... After he graduated from high school June, 1949 he wanted to go on to
college (Capote 166). The amplification of Dick s high school career was above average and used to
describe his once successful life. This is a crucial passage to admire because Dick hadn t realized just
how fortunate he was as an adolescent and as he grew older he became dark and closed off as if a
switch flipped inside of him. Creating contrast to his emotions as the murder was leading up. The
behavior switch seemed almost inhuman as a straight A jock turned into a cold blooded murderer.

The Field Of Mental Health Counseling
Introduction
Burnout in the field of Mental Health Counseling is a serious concern for everyone involved, whether
the person is just beginning their journey, or if they are a seasoned veteran with years of experience.
Unless, the person has a prevention plan in place and adds it into their busy schedule and does not
stray from their commitment of their self care program. It is easy when we get busy to skip a day here
and there and the next thing you know we have not taken care of ourselves for a month or longer.
Once we permit ourselves to neglect our self care program the symptoms of burnout and begin to
develop very quickly. Personally, I believe with a good self care program, it is easier to circumvent
burnout, then it is to overcome it once you are in its grips. Here are some of the things I implement
into my schedule to help myself from becoming burnt out.
Personal Care Mentally, Physically, Emotionally
As a student pursuing a career in the field of Mental Health Counseling, while I was attending classes
in my undergraduate program self care was a regular topic that was brought up. Over half of the
professors would stress the seriousness of burnout and the need to begin a self care program while still
a student. Fortunately, prior to entering college, I unknowingly began a self care program, a few times
a week I participate in 12 step meetings. At the meetings, I have several close friends that I can talk to

great works of literature away from us due to topics that may concern parents or school boards. These
topics include racism, sexual jokes or references, and many other messages that have a negative image
in the eyes of parents and schools. While some see book banning as an attack on their favorite book or
just to literature in general, others, mostly parents and schools, see censorship as the best way of
defending their children from the harsh reality that we live in today. Although some see book banning
as a strong attack against important history in literature, others, especially parents, see book banning
as protection from the cruel history our country has had. These inappropriate books could also affect a
child s view on the world. The biggest culprit of this scenario is racism, which is the one reasoning for
the banning of To Kill a Mockingbird and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Parents and schools are
worried that if children read a book with such racial tension and prominence, than the children
themselves will become racists. Stories like these could also confuse students into to

The Punch List Obligations Of A Construction Project Manager
The Punch List Obligations of a Construction Project Manager at Project Closeout
ABRAHAM J MAJU
(MPM 630 Project Closeout)
January 2015
UNIVERSITY OF MARY, BISMARCK ND
USA
Abstract
Most constructions contracts tends to be very specific in regards to the overall planned financial
budget of the construction work, the expected quality of the job output from the contractor as well as
the duration (time) that is allowed to complete the work. But it is very common that in most cases, it
would seem that all that would be required to closing out a construction or any other type of a major
capital project would be just to inspect it, accept it and see that the contractor is able to receive all his
entitlements and final payments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Introduction
Constructions project management involves the direct and daily monitoring of all construction
activities and tasks, including all the construction methodologies that is being applied, as well as the
personnel that directs or guides the project through every single stage or phase of its life cycle. It is
pertinent to know that not all constructions jobs might not be successfully completed due to some
changed conditions or unforeseen circumstances beyond control like the effects of nature and differing
site conditions. Some of the constructions projects get rejected or are abruptly cancelled due to
reasons best known to either the contractor or the client as the case maybe, but whatever happens
regardless. Proper and effective closure is always needed on all constructions projects.
According to the words of the author Joseph A. Griffin (2011) titled How to Close a Project , he noted
that Closing a project should be treated as an integral part of the project plan. The closing process does
not begin at the end of the project, but during the planning phase. Each step should be carefully
planned and executed as any other portion of the project . Propounding on the suggested timeline for
preparations of a project closeout, the authors Edward R. Fisk and Wayne D. Reynolds (2014) in the
Tenth Edition of their publications titled Construction Project Administration noted on page 347, that
The closeout period may actually begin several weeks to a month

Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church
Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church has two different youth groups, one for the Senior High and one
for the Junior High. The Edge program, which is the youth group as a whole, consists of dividing the
students into young teen and senior teen. Every Sunday night the youth group meets from 6pm to
7:45pm. Ryan Moline is the youth pastor of the young teens, he has split the youth group into the 7th
and 8th graders which meet on Sunday nights and 5th and 6th graders that meet on Wednesday nights.
I decided to visit with the 7th and 8th graders on Sunday night. My choice to meet with the 7th and
8th graders was based on all my experience with that age group back home. Most of my volunteering
comes from working with the 7th and 8th graders and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After a few games the went back and worshiped and Ryan spoke on Moses. Then the group split up
into there small groups and discussed some of the things Ryan spoke about, the girls I sat with were
very interested and this gave them time to process the story and understand it. I thoroughly enjoyed
the service overall and I really enjoyed the fact that the kids welcomed me and and the leaders as well.
Ryan Moline and I sat down before the service and I got to ask him some questions about the youth
group and himself. He graduated from Spring Arbor University and while going there he volunteered
at Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church working with the youth group. He has now been a fulltime
pastor of the young teens for 3 years making his total amount of time there 6 and a half years. Being
the pastor of the young teens he mostly spends time preparing for the Sunday night youth group and
the Wednesday night youth group: making up lessons, planning games, making sure he has all the
leaders he needs, and setting up the outline for the night. He also plans the youth groups retreat or
mission trip they are having that year. Finally, he also is looking ahead for the year, this means coming
up with general ideas for the months, figuring out what they will talk about and when they will talk
about it. While getting to know Ryan, I asked him about his calling into ministry; when did he get is
calling, was there a defining moment when he realized that he wanted to go into

unsuccessfully attempts to recruit Jack to join the football team, knowing that Jack s father and

I did my own thing, and my first three years at Fremont I joined the computer club and kept my
distance from the superjocks. (Klass 5). When Jack was invited to the private football tryout by his
friend, he expressed uneasiness about playing sports at a high level. Thanks, Rob, but I really don t
think I m varsity material. (Klass 18). After Jack rejected the offer to play on the football team and
Jack joining the Losers, Jack was voted captain of the team because of his leadership skills, prominent
family within the school and his strong athletic ability. This is our last game, and we should try
something new. Suppose we prove that Muhldinger was wrong and we re not garbage? Lynton beat up
on our football team and our whole town. Let s win one for Fremont, and wreck their chance at a
perfect record. (Klass 278). Although the Losers started as a school requirement for Jack, he quickly
learned that he loved playing soccer and was proud to score the first goal for his school. But before he
dove I saw his weight shift and I winged my shot at the near corner, so that he launched himself away
from the ball. It flew into the unprotected near corner for our first Fremont score. (Klass 299). The
Losers changed the school community from being a sports crazed school to a school that accepts and

Synthetic Biological Engineering Essay
Starting at the earliest of high school levels, students are being taught about biological synthetic
engineering, or being able to create life out of chemicals of varying types. The idea of being able to
create life from just about nothing is something that is becoming popular. While it has its advantages
for scientific purposes as far as medicine is concerned, the fact that the FBI has to be involved to make
sure that the sequences are not being distributed for unlawful purposes, such as bioterrorism overseas
or throughout the United States is a troublesome factor. The sequences being developed in these
laboratories could be very dangerous to people around the world if they are in the hands of people
who intend to use them in dangerous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The scientists can build organisms to consume toxic chemicals in water or soil that would not
otherwise decompose. The positive aspects of this synthetic engineering are growing every day. The
United States is just getting its first glimpse of everything these scientists are working to develop
(pbs.org). While there are a great amount of advantages to the developments of biological synthetic
engineering, the disadvantages are a pressing matter as well. As biological engineering develops, the
sequences with which the scientists work are becoming more complex(pbs.org). The sequences are
still simple enough, however, to be followed by just about anyone who knows things about science.
Therefore if they are given to people who are not meant to obtain them they can be used to create very
dangerous objects. The federal government has spoken about the possibility of bioterrorist attacks and
the spreading of diseases that have been contained but do not actively have cures, such as the bird flu
and smallpox. Because of the many possible uses of the advancement of biological engineering, it
continues to be approached with much caution, for the safety of the American people(pbs.org).
Although the work in the labs are performed with what are called Biosafety Level 1 organisms the
safest organisms known, the federal government has been keeping closely involved with the
developments of synthetic engineering (pbs.org). The FBI is ensuring

Health Current Toolkit Paper
While I was looking over the Health Current Toolkit information, I was very impressed on how they
covered just about everything. One of my favorite things that I found was the frequently asked
questions page, for me it was very helpful because this is all new to me and this page was extremely
helpful to understand the basics about HIE records. I feel that the whole thing had all the details you
needed to understand what they were and how they worked. The only thing that was not too clear for
me was that they are able to access your all your records in the case of an emergency. I am all for that
because in an emergency, I want all my records available to receive the best care, however what is

I also like the fact that if for whatever reason I felt that I did not want some information to be
accessible, I can opt out there and then they cannot access that information. Overall, I feel that HIE is
a safe and helpful program that I would want my information in. Some data that might be considered
sensitive is maybe if one had an illness that almost cost them their life or an injury or an accident or
the death of a loved one due to illness. I do feel that this data should be shared differently. I feel like
this type of data should have its own set of opt in and opt out system because this is data that could be
very sensitive to a patient and should be treated with care. Although this data can be helpful in
diagnosing problems or treatments, I feel that they should not be talked about casually if they are
talked about, they should be spoken of with just the doctor and the patient and whomever else the
patient wishes to hear the sensitive data and that is it. As long as this data is handled with care and not
taken lightly, it will not be a problem. The relationship between standards is that they are rules or
guidelines that help in keeping the information safe. According to himss.org (1), The Consolidated

  • 2. Road To Genocide Essay This essay will review the documentary Road to Genocide where Christian paramilitaries in Central African Republic (CAR) carried out ethnic cleansing of the Muslim population during the state s ongoing civil war. At the very outset of this video, a crumbling Central Africa is portrayed with utter mayhem, horrendous acts of violence and human massacres. We will elaborate on how conflict in this particular context is accentuated with reference to its socio economic, cultural, historical and political factors. Digging into the root cause of conflict in CAR As a matter of fact, conflict is omnipresent and inevitable. People s reaction to conflict varies in different levels, it can be competing, collaborating, compromising, avoiding or even accommodating (Thomas and Kilmann, 1974). In this video, the main conflict is between the Seleka (the Muslims) and the Anti Balaka (the Christians). Here, the blatant style is competing from the ends of the Anti Balaka, who assertively want the Muslims to leave the land at all cost; the Seleka on the other hand are hopelessly fleeing for their lives. From an overall perspective, it is clear that human conflict does not occur in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He beautifully explains how just as lightning a match would ignite an explosion, so a movement of social time might immediately cause a conflict (Black, 2011). It is interesting to note how conflict can also be affected by regional factors and how events in neighboring states can impact on the scenarios for violence (Skrede Gleditsch, 2008). In the video, the neighboring state Chad played a crucial role in overthrowing the president. The documentary also demonstrates how some people (both Christians and Muslims) shared the view that transnational ties with France constituted an important role in spreading the ... • 3. Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde The dark never sleeps at night When night comes, dark comes. Throughout Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, dark actions have been committed repeatedly at night. All the evil incidents that have happened in the novel, namely, the night Mr. Enfield met Mr. Hyde for the first time when he was trampling over a girl, the night of Carew s murder incident, the night that shocked Mr. Lanyon to his further death, and the last might of Dr. Jekyll s life, all was done by Mr. Hyde. Mr. Hyde does not sleep at night. Dr. Jekyll tries to keep his original form in the day and, if possible, transforms to be Mr. Hyde only at night. Due to the fact that the day is Dr. Jekyll s time, time for his honourable career, Mr. Hyde should not have emerged in the midday. On the other hand, Hyde is allowed to have done dark actions at night, because, at night, it s time for people to sleep, it s time when people mostly down their guard. In other words, it s time when one s subconscious is released, perhaps by dreams. One step beyond us, Dr. Jekyll releases his subconscious through his another appearance, Mr. Hyde. All the dark actions are done by him, Dr. Jekyll s subconscious form. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jekyll and for Mr. Hyde. • 4. How Plasmodium Affects The Cardiovascular System Plasmodium is a parasite with over 100 species, but only four directly affect humans( Malaria Parasites ). This parasite affects the circulatory system, or cardiovascular system. It s structured of many things, and some structures are in common with animals or human cells. Even though it s microscopic in size, it can cause a lot of damage. The parasite gets into the body from mosquitoes and infects the bloodstream of the circulatory system. Plasmodium affects the cardiovascular system. The cardiovascular system includes the heart, blood vessels, and blood; it links all the parts of the body. This system carries needed materials such as oxygen to the cells and it also takes the waste products away, like carbon dioxide. It also transports cells that attacks disease causing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the infecting agent gets into the human s bloodstream they invade the liver within an hour; the parasite then takes about 15 days to mature(Collins, Jeffery, E.). The infecting agent divides and forms plasmodium merozoites which are then released into the bloodstream and infect red blood cells( Plasmodium ). The plasmodium is an oval shaped cell, measured at about .00006 inches long and .00004 inches wide. Plasmodium has a pellicular cisterna which makes up the golgi apparatus. The apparatus receives materials and sends them to other parts of the cell. The plasma membrane forms the external boundary and the merozoite coat acts like the cell membrane which lets things in and out of the cell. It has an apicoplast that allows the parasite to invade host cells, and microtubules that work with the inner membrane to give bulkiness to the cell. The micronemes help the cell invade the host, and the polar rings, apical end, rhoptries and dense granules all help it invade the cell. Plasmodium also has some things in common with animal or human cells: a nucleus, ribosomes, and a mitochondria( Structure of Plasmodium ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. John Muir Preservationism Conserving means to protect (something, especially an environmentally or culturally important place or thing) from harm or destruction. John Muir, a famous preservationist is someone I agree with completely, his idea of preservationism is the best way to help our earth. Not damming Hetch Hetchy Valley was what really drew me into him. He believed that politicians were using nature as a way to get material gains. Muir believed that nature should be protected and should be kept beautiful. He states at one point that everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in where nature may heal and cheer and give strength to body and soul alike. (Who was John Muir? The Sierra Club ) He s saying that beauty is just as crucial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... John believed that turning places into national parks would be a great way to conserve them, this allows for wild life and plants to be monitored and kept under control. With his great love for the idea of national parks, came a lot of pro s for the environment. Biodiversity plays an important role in national parks, biodiversity helps to keep environments clean and healthy for wild life. It allows for climate regulation, pollination and water purification. Yosemite National Park was one of Muir s creates accomplishments. He first traveled there in 1868 an loved the beauty and scenery so much that he decided to come back the next year and get a job as a rancher. Soon he became very concerned about natural landscape preservation. John Muir, being a preservationist, makes him the most admirable choice because he believed in protecting wild places for the sake of people and the sake of the well being of the earth. Pinchot, Muir s opposite, believed that conservation went hand in hand with development and that damming Hetch Hetchy would improve supplies in San Fransisco. The difference between conservationism and preservationism is that most times conservation focuses more on the needs of human beings. Preservationism is more focused on maintaining where the earth is at the time and the areas that are touched by humans. This idea helps to stop the invasion of human beings taking over open land and making them into farms and industries for developmental gain. This means that whatever we can preserve now, we can have in the future. A balance between the two would be difficult because of how strongly these opposing sides feel about the environment and what should be done in its best interest. I don t feel that a balance is possible because a lot of times human needs are the reason for natures destruction such as knocking down forests for paper, and building dams to help increase a water supply. Not only do these human needs take away ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sometimes the person that suffers from bulimia is in denial that they are being sick or affecting others. The main reason that I researched the disorder of bulimia is because my sister suffers from bulimia nervosa. I have personally witnessed my sister¹s body and health decay is very upsetting. The disorder also puts a strain on the entire family. No one wants to watch a person¹s self inflicted starvation. Unfortunately many people who know someone suffering from bulimia do not know how to help. What is bulimia and how to notice the signs that the person you love has this serious disorder? By definition, bulimia nervosa is a multifaceted disorder with psychological, physiologic, developmental and cultural components. This definition states that there is no single underlying factor that causes this disorder. A person may have a genetic predisposition for contracting this disorder. There are also other factors that can cause an individual to become bulimic. There are two predisposing factors and they are psychological and personality. Examples of psychological and personality factors are perfectionism, impaired self concept, affective instability, poor impulse control and an absence of an adaptive functioning to maturational task and developmental stresses. • 8. Video Game Reflection Paper When I was little, I loved to try lots of new things. Games, toys, candy; but I had never heard of video games. Until one day on the bus, my neighbor told me that he had a Wii. I had seen commercials for it, and it looked fun. Originally I never wanted one because it was so expensive. That night when I went over to his house, my life would never be the same. Later that day I went over to his house. Ordinarily we run around, shoot each other with face guns, and do other things like that. I was getting antsy though, so we went inside after only 45 minutes. We got inside and then I saw it, the white Wii sitting on the entertainment center next to the TV. What games do you have? I asked. The only game I have is Mario Kart, he replied, so that is what we played. Since I had never played it before I was terrible. Three games in a row, I got 12th out of 12. After, about an hour of playing I started to notice that I was passing the computers (other racers) and getting 7th 4th place on average. Nevertheless, I soon had to leave, but I was much better than when I started. Besides having so much fun on the Wii, I rarely got to play on it. I had played on it here and there, but not a lot. I kept asking my parents for a Wii, they only said no, but then when it got closer to Christmas they started to tantalize me by answering with maybe for Christmas. That got me very excited. • 11. Hollywood Studios And The Movie Industry Essay Many Hollywood studios were prosperous in the international movie industry. These studios improved American Films and continue to be affluent today. Hollywood was the birthplace of movie studios, which were of great importance to America s public image in the movie industry. The earliest and most affluent film companies were Warner Brothers Pictures, Paramount, RKO, Metro Goldwyn Mayer, and 20th Century Fox, each of whom owned their own film production sets and studios. Universal, United, and Columbia Pictures were also considered noteworthy, despite not owning their own theaters, while Disney, Monogram, and Republic were considered third tier. (History Cooperative) These studios composed The Big Five , the film studios that controlled Hollywood for over fifty years and distributed an estimated 90% of Fiction films around the world: Warner Brothers Pictures (WBO), Paramount, RKO (Radio Keith Orpheum), Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM), and 20th Century Fox. These studios were similar, but they had some unique traits that defined their studios such as MGM s iconic lion roar introduction and Paramount s greatest stars of the 1920s with Rudolph Valentino, Mary Pickford, and Douglas Fairbanks. With an enormous public image, these studios managed to earn millions and improved the film industry in America. • 12. Impacts Of Coal Mining On The Environment Coal mining can have seriously adverse environmental and related impacts, including interference with groundwater quantity and quality, land subsidence, impacts on river flows and consequential impact on other land uses, issues associated with mining wastes disposal, creation of geological hazards . . . and potential ecological havoc (Bian et al., The Impact of Disposal and Treatment of Coal Mining Wastes on Environment and Farmland 1). Coal, a commodity that the world depends on as a vital economic player and energy resource, is extracted from the ground at a very costly price to the environment. It is a major energy source that provides about 40% of the electricity that the world consumes, and the consumption of coal has grown dramatically in recent years. Not only is coal a major energy producer, but it is also a vital player in many countries economies, employing millions across the world both directly and indirectly. Unfortunately, since coal is so important to the economy and energy production, there is often little regard for the impacts that it has on the environment when being extracted. In broad a generalization, coal mining techniques can be broken down into two categories: surface mining and underground mining (the first involving techniques that stay above ground and the latter using tunneling). Although environmental implications may vary slightly between the two methods of coal extraction, there are a number of issues that are the result of both surface ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Essay on Physics of Soccer Physics of Soccer I. Introduction Soccer is a sport that s very challenging and during the course of this semester I ve found physics can also be described as challenging. As far as I was concerned soccer and physics were both challenging and that was all they had in common, consequently upon researching them both this semester I found that I was wrong. For me this was nothing new because I ve found that physics isn t a subject that can be skimmed, but rather it has to be studied to the finest detail. Those small details if missed can make all your efforts worthless. Or on the positive side understanding those details can make your efforts worth it in the end. And in soccer if you understand the physics, which to most players ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Defensively in soccer speed is sometimes slowed down and skilled footwork may be needed. How a player uses speed or velocity depends on the situation, but if just one isn t done skillfully a player may not end up making the play as planned. III. Distance The distance that you are able to kick the ball can be summed up with the equation for distance, d=RT, distance equals rate multiplied by the time. So speed and time are both very important when kicking the ball because it directly affects the distance. Soccer players vary the distances that they want to kick the ball. Skilled players can estimate very quickly how fast to make the ball move to make it go where they need it to. Before learning this equation in physics I just thought you kicked the ball, but now I know that when this equation is applied to soccer it means so much more. Soccer players can use this to help them judge how hard and fast they need to be able to kick the ball to make it go a certain distance. This is just another example of how physics, the small details, can be used to improve ones soccer skills. IV. Momentum Momentum can be defined as the product of the inertial mass and the velocity, p=mv (Kirkpatrick, 106). When relating this equation to soccer it can be directly interchanged with the mass of the player and their speed/direction. So a player must be not only quick, but have the mass to gain the momentum needed. When the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. The First Film Of The Dardenne Brothers The first film of the Dardenne Brothers relates a story about Igor, a fifteen year old boy, whom his main priority is to complete the construction of his kart. He lives with his father, who does not see any problems in smuggling illegal immigrants as he exploits them unscrupulously. To Igor, this only seems the natural order of things, however, things eventually start to crumble when he promises an African man, who fell from a scaffolding during construction work and is about to die, to look after his wife and son. This is Igor s first step away from the omnipotence of his father. The realism of the Dardenne brothers is eximious to an extent that his characters are completely human, rowdy, and intense with a thought provoking moral fight between what s right and wrong. The Dardenne brothers presented a world providing a silent revolution inside the art film with an unmistakable mark, humanist realism. A hand held film following the characters as we dive to discover more of the narrative as the conflicts start to unfold. A sordid story about illegal immigration, moral failure of principles, a tutorial about social dilemmas faced by a new Europe and an emotional odyssey of a boy who seeks to acknowledge his own awareness when evolves his own code of values. • 15. Post Ww2 Compare And Contrast Compare and Contrast: Urban Redevelopment and Housing in the U.S., Europe, and Asia This paper is written to compare and contrast urban redevelopment and housing in the U.S., Europe, and Asia in the post WWII era. Being aware of the fact that housing was indeed an integral part of urban redevelopment in the postwar era, the following analysis of urban redevelopment will focus on the larger picture, while that of housing would pay more attention to the details. Specifically, for urban redevelopment, planning ideas and the level of inequality in different countries are examined, and with regard to housing, I would like to analyze their architectural features. First of all, the planning ideas that guided the process of urban redevelopment in different countries vary to a significant extent. In Japan, priority was given to improve the urban road network. As a consequence, broad arterial roads were planned, and green areas were provided at the fringe. The redevelopment of the city of Nagoya revealed ambitious efforts. In this city, two 100 meter wide boulevards that served as the axes was constructed, and a large number of parks were established. While according to the Tokyo plan, an extensive network of ring and radial parkways, greenbelts, and corridors were built in order to restructure Tokyo and subdivide it into many smaller sub cities. Sports: Another factor of substantial importance which plays an active role in nation branding is how the country portrays itself in various sports. Before we look in to the aspects of this, excerpts from the recent interview with Mr Simon Anholt, the brilliantly caustic, not conventions driven and outspoken nation branding (or as he prefers, policy advisor ) expert, by Germany s Deutschland Magazine about the relationship between sports and nation branding and sportsmen and nation brands only weeks ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa is given below in brief. Yes indeed, but as I predicted, the effect didn t last very long. Enhancing a country s image is a relay race, not a sprint, and countries need to become obsessive about asking themselves What do we do next? Germany hasn t followed up on its World Cup success, so people are starting to revert to their previous beliefs about the country. This always happens and it can only be prevented by projecting a constant, unbroken stream of dramatic evidence that the country deserves the reputation it desires. Even in countries where Germany did not previously enjoy a great reputation, the country s image was massively enhanced after what has gone down in the history books as Germany s summer fairytale . Does this mean that some elements of the brand essence are in fact very volatile, in other words, nice weather, high spirits, exciting matches is all it takes to change an image? Is it really that simple? No, they really aren t volatile at all: quite the contrary. National image is more like a fixed asset than a liquid capital, and normally can t be changed at all. Nothing could be more difficult than changing any of these attributes. I have great respect for the way in which Germany managed to move the needle on its image during the World Cup, in exactly the way it wanted to, but it hasn t been able to make this sustainable. Reagan believed that communism in the Soviet Union was eroding and ready to crumble, expecting its collapse if competitively challenged by America. An arms race had been ongoing between the U.S. and Russia for some time. Reagan, however, was determined to put an end to it. Reagan began the competition with a very costly project known as the Strategic Defense Initiative, aimed at neutralizing incoming Soviet missiles. This shocked the Soviet Union, which was economically unable to match this rapid escalation of the arms race (CITE). After winning his second term as president, Ronald Reagan established what is now known as The Reagan Doctrine, which provided support, both financially and militarily, for anti communist fighters throughout Africa, Asia and Latin America (CITE). The policy s goal was to eliminate tyrannical governments and promote individual liberties, freedom, and democracy. The Reagan doctrine became the centerpiece of the Reagan administration by successfully stopping the Soviet Union from spreading its communist control over specific regions of the world. Some common STDs are chlamydia, herpes, syphilis, and HIV/AIDS. A person of any gender, race, or age can get an STD but there is different stigma attached to that person depending on their gender. Gender influences people to view the STD and that person who has it differently. The topic of women and STDs are not a good mix when it comes to society s opinions. Also with the Arquebuse being able to be held with two hands and not having to lit by hand made it way more accurate than earlier guns (14). The Arquebuse also greatly helped to create the musket which had a better more advanced ignition system. The musket first began to be used during the 1400s. Then muskets helped to design the flintlock (14). Also by the mid 1400s people began to develope handguns or pistols. By the 1500s people were able to make pistol effective to about four feet. One bad thing was how long the pistols took to reload so they then began to design and create the revolver (18). Then around 1833 the very first breech loader was created. On May 2, 1808, hundreds of Goya s countrymen rebelled against the French. On May 3, these Spanish freedom fighters were rounded up and put to death by the French. Francisco Goya was in a tough position because he had supported the French Revolution, but the slaughter of his countrymen and the horrors of war made him change his tune and had a profound effect on the artist. This painting is acclaimed as one the great paintings of all time and has even been called the world s first modern painting. The work of art itself is in the early hours of the morning taking after the uprising and spotlights on two gatherings of men: a firing squad, and a scattered gathering or hostages held at gunpoint. There is a row of French soldiers aiming for a Spanish man, who puts his arms up in accommodation both to the officers and to his sure demise. There is a slope/hill behind him that represents an executioner s wall. There is a heap of grisly dead bodies that lie at his feet, painting the territory with their gushing blood. • 30. The Cultural Expectations And Rules Norms A norm is something that is standard in society. Within sociology, it is specifically the cultural expectations and rules that a person within the culture is supposed to uphold. Norms tell an individual how they should behave within a certain situation. According to Saul McLeod of Simply Psychology (2008), people are expected to behave in a way that is not random. Norms are social standards that are agreed upon by a society so that members of a culture do not deviate into areas that others would consider abnormal and wrong. Also norms vary by culture, so one culture that has an agreed upon and socially practiced norm may vary from another culture that does not do the same thing and instead has different norms. Each culture s norms differ based on beliefs and customs. Norms are a general category of social rules. Taboos, laws, mores, and folkways are all norms. A taboo is something that a culture forbids. Laws are strictly enforced formal rules by the government or social powers within a culture. A more is a norm related to morals; what is deemed right or not within a particular society. Also folkways are customs that are socially accepted, but are not strictly enforced. Following norms are important because an individual is only socially accepted if they follow the set norms. When government enforcement of monopolies is appointed for the well being of subset being granted a monopoly instead of the well being of society, that is when greed steps in. • 40. South Africa Dbq Between 1948 and 1959, there was much opposition to Apartheid after its execution in 1948 by the National Party. Due to the apartheid laws being of a racial legislation, primarily promoting white supremacy and the discrimination of Black and colored individuals throughout South Africa, there would be no doubt that some form of opposition would be present. The opposition came in forms of the ANC and PAC primarily, two resistance parties in support of the improvement of Blacks throughout South Africa. Despite this however, it could be argued that their opposition was primarily unsuccessful due to their lack for de jure change in the system. The ANC primarily attempted at approaching their involvement with the improvement of the Black population as somewhat peaceful, rather than implementing violence or aggression in ... Rather than promoting the integration of Blacks into White society, they preached complete isolation, even to the extent of ANC members joining the PAC party in 1959, after saying they were influenced by White Communists . However, despite this, similar to the ANC, opposition to apartheid wasn t all as successful as they could have been. The most prominent form of opposition presented by the PAC was Sharpesville, later dubbed The Sharpseville massacre . Similar to the ANC s Defiance campaign , this campaign had originally been intended to be peaceful, merely approaching the police station singing and showing they are ready to be arrested. However, it is assumed that following the prior campaign, law enforcement were on high alert for these protests. 69 people were killed, with all of them being Black. This still didn t have any form of affect on the opposition of apartheid. • 41. King Leopold and the Belgian Congo Essay King Leopold and the Belgian Congo It is widely debated why exactly King Leopold decided to conquer the Congo, but the general consensus seems to be that it was out of the belief that the highlands of the Congo may be as rich in gold as the mountains of the western slope of the American Continent (Stead). In the mid 1870s, the King hired Henry Stanley, who was familiar with many parts of Africa, to help him go about conquering. During the following years Stanley stayed in Africa, talking various tribes into signing over their lands and rights. After this was completed the King officially took over the Congo, renaming it the Congo Free State. This was especially ironic because all natives of the country were either forced to give up ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Eventually, word started to spread about what was going on. The public had strongly believed that the natives were benefiting from being civilized through their forced labor. However, between disgusted Belgian officials and authors such as Joseph Conrad and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the truth was becoming clearer. In 1904, the Congo Reform Association was founded. Four years later, King Leopold was made to turn over the Belgian Congo to the Belgian government. Much of the collected evidence against him was in the form of photographs. The king had managed to successfully bribe almost every single person who might otherwise have made a witness against the goings on in the Belgian Congo, as it was renamed after being handed over to the Belgian government. This did very little good for the people of the Congo; they were still being overworked, repressed, and denied basic human rights. The situation was more than a little embarrassing for the king, who disliked his authority being overshadowed. Still, his profit from the matter was no cause for complaint. Leopold s original investment was said to be somewhere in the neighborhood of six and a half million dollars; the financial gain was that number, multiplied many times over. • 42. Truman Capote s Meaning Of Truman Pary And The Duality Of... Although Truman Capote recognizes the duality of Perry, he uses language complexities to demonize Dick; therefore he argues people with mental health issues deserve help while those who choose their behaviors deserve harsher punishments. Amplification embellishes the artwork that Capote illustrates. In the beginning, he paints the picture of Perry as naive and gentle, which contrasts with Dick who was heartless and arrogant. Later, a picture of Dick s past as a teenager is elaborated: An outstanding athlete always on the first team at school. Basketball! Baseball! Football! Dick was always the star player. A pretty good student, too, with A marks in several subjects... After he graduated from high school June, 1949 he wanted to go on to college (Capote 166). The amplification of Dick s high school career was above average and used to describe his once successful life. This is a crucial passage to admire because Dick hadn t realized just how fortunate he was as an adolescent and as he grew older he became dark and closed off as if a switch flipped inside of him. Creating contrast to his emotions as the murder was leading up. The behavior switch seemed almost inhuman as a straight A jock turned into a cold blooded murderer. Dishonorable behaviors can sometimes be the result of a mental illness, and if society recognized this illness, help could have been provided. Although, Dick, who decided to follow through with awful intentions without any remorse, deserves the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Personal Care Mentally, Physically, Emotionally As a student pursuing a career in the field of Mental Health Counseling, while I was attending classes in my undergraduate program self care was a regular topic that was brought up. • 44. Cons Of Book Censorship Book censorship tries to shelter us from certain books that carry messages that are known as controversial, but this promotes cleansing children from the harsh reality that we live in today. Censorship is the suppression or prohibition of any parts of books, films, and news. That are considered obscene, politically unacceptable, or a threat to security. Book censorship has taken many great works of literature away from us due to topics that may concern parents or school boards. These topics include racism, sexual jokes or references, and many other messages that have a negative image in the eyes of parents and schools. While some see book banning as an attack on their favorite book or just to literature in general, others, mostly parents and schools, see censorship as the best way of defending their children from the harsh reality that we live in today. Although some see book banning as a strong attack against important history in literature, others, especially parents, see book banning as protection from the cruel history our country has had. These inappropriate books could also affect a child s view on the world. The biggest culprit of this scenario is racism, which is the one reasoning for the banning of To Kill a Mockingbird and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Parents and schools are worried that if children read a book with such racial tension and prominence, than the children themselves will become racists. Stories like these could also confuse students into to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
