Incentive Plans
Organizations provide incentive plans to employees as motivation to reach the objectives and goals of
the company. Incentives are given to personnel to encourage them to do his or her best. Incentive
plans in any business might include bonuses or raises, stock option plans, or other forms of incentives.
This is in exchange for the employees who work harder, better, or faster in accordance with the
organizations goals and objectives (Businesstown.com, 2001). The majority of incentives are
performance based policies in which workers receive additional cash or benefits centered on a worker
s performance.
Raises and Bonuses

The CSR would receive a candy bar of his or her choice or PTO for taking the most calls in a day.
Each day the total calls are reported and the CSR with the most receives the incentive. Some CSR s
will have competitions with each other. This is a way the employees motivate themselves. When all
goals are met the team or teams receive a lunch party in which the company provides the funds for the
event; this is a paid event for all employees. Some employees make his or her team goals a priority
because the team goal incentive is always higher than individual goals.
Conclusion
Incentive plans are beneficial to an organization because it provides high productive results through
teamwork; teamwork is an effective tool in an organization. For that reason, it is important to build an
effective team and motivate them. The supervisor has the responsibility to motivate the employees;
however, when incentives are given it will motivate the employee to do his or her best and in return
the company will gain the maximum productivity of the employees (Businesstown.com, 2001). In the
department I work for monetary incentives motivate the employees but nonmonetary incentives as
simple as a candy bar or PTO work too.

The First Occasion When We See Elizabeth
The film begins with a sort of a preface, with Elizabeth as a young lady cruising with her dad
Representative Swann and her future fiancee Lt Norrington, and in addition future privateer Mr.
Gibbs. Representative Swann isn t only the legislative leader of Port Regal, he s the legislative head of
Elizabeth, an occupation we see him commit more opportunity to than any genuine administering.
The first occasion when we see Elizabeth, she s singing about privateers. She s acutely keen on the
subject, far over the level of legitimacy, to the extent her dad and Norrington are concerned. Elizabeth
is by all accounts weak and inactive among these men, however in actuality she sets the plot into
movement by locating youthful Will Turner, lost adrift, and after that taking his emblem once he s
brought on board Norrington s ship. It s practically as if Elizabeth, with her enthusiasm for privateers,
has summoned a young man privateer out of the fog by her own particular will. The emblem is,
obviously, one of the 882 bits of reviled Aztec gold that serves as the maguffin of Revile and drives its
whole plot.
(Elizabeth sees the emblem and finishes up, erroneously, that Will is a privateer. There is a great deal
of backstory in Revile, the most confounded of which is the narrative of Will s dad, Bootstrap Bill,
and how the emblem made it around youthful Will s neck. This story is complicated to the point that I
needed to sit and watch the motion picture various times before

Shogunate Period Essay
The following essay will highlight the reasons that contributed to the success of the Japanese
Shogunate period, as well as factors that influenced in a negative way the Japanese history as a whole.
I will look at factors that made the social classes run as smoothly as they did. The reasons and benefits
of very few wars throughout the period and the effects on the education that people received. I will
also look at the negatives of the Shogunate period, yet depending on how you look at things, this essay
could mean a completely different thing to you and to others.

society due to his many responsibilities, he held the most political power, and he ran the military and
was a lawmaker. Below the Shogun was the daimyo. The daimyo were wealthy landowners, served
the shogun and were in charge of the samurai. Under the daimyo were the samurai. The samurai were

The Hurricane Movie Essay
Norman Jewison s Movie The Hurricane
The problem of racial discrimination has been portrayed in many films in the last 15 years. However,
The Hurricane does a masterful job at addressing this issue, and will leave audience members
clenching their fists in anger at the injustice that happened to a man named Rubin Hurricane Carter.
The movie demonstrates the racial inequity that can be found in our judicial system through the
impressive acting by Denzel Washington and the direction of Norman Jewison. The Hurricane makes
you wonder who else has been wrongfully accused in the past 30 years.
The Hurricane creates moments of amazing heartfelt punches dealt by Denzel Washington (Rubin
Hurricane Carter), Vicellous Reon Shannon (Lezra ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He then pores over documents about his case and compiles them into a book. The manuscript then
lands in the hands of Lezra Martin. Moved by Rubin s words, Lezra makes it his mission and the
mission of his three Canadian friends to bring justice for the Hurricane .
At his weakest hour Rubin finds hope via these four newfound friends. Through the support of the
Canadians along with the legal work of two volunteer lawyers they take Rubin s case to the New
Jersey Supreme Court. After 20 years, of wrongful imprisonment, Rubin Hurricane Carter is restored.
The film s powerful message comes alive through its main actor s magnificent performances and the
anger and frustration that they evoke. In particular, Denzel Washington proved this throughout the film
with his representation of Rubin Carter. He is known for films and works such as: Glory, The Pelican
Brief, Philadelphia, Courage Under Fire, and a new must see release Remember the Titans. The
Hurricane is no exception for his list of stellar performances. However, aside from Denzel Washington
s stunning portrayal, the other actors are one sided and faceless. Vincent Della Pesca (Dan Hedaya)
establishes himself throughout the film as an evil presence with an insane desire to put Rubin behind
bars. His motivation is left to the imagination of the audience. This antagonist appears to be self
motivated without any clear sense of

Lyme Disease Is A Disease
Lyme Disease Lyme s disease is a disease that is transmitted to humans when an infected tick bites the
human s skin. According to Lymedisease.org, Symptoms of early Lyme disease may present as a flu
like illness (fever, chills, sweats, muscle aches, fatigue, nausea and joint pain). Some patients have a
rash or Bell s palsy (facial drooping). However, although a rash shaped like a bull s eye is considered
characteristic of Lyme disease, many people develop a different kind of Lyme rash or none at all.
Lyme disease can be difficult to diagnose because its symptoms mimic so many other disorders,
especially if a rash is not present. Lymedisease.org, also reports that only 42% of cases had a rash .
Furthermore, lymedisease.org goes on to report that, Many Lyme symptoms, such as fatigue, cognitive
impairment, joint pain, poor sleep, mood problems, muscle pain, and neurological presentations also
occur in other diseases. Hence, the symptoms of Lyme disease significantly overlap those of chronic
fatigue, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson s disease, ALS, depression
and Alzheimer s disease. Many Lyme patients report being misdiagnosed with a different condition
before being properly diagnosed with Lyme disease. Lyme disease can affect nearly all of our body s
functions in one way or another. According to Lyme expert Dr. Lee Cowden, Typically, the
elimination organs are invaded: Kidneys, bladder, liver, skin and lymph glands. The Borrelia

Moon Phases
Have you ever doubted what creates the moon phases? It is known that its appearance evolves over
times. But why? The best method to understand the phases of the moon is to scrutinize the aspects of
astronomy.
First of all, we need to wipe out the most commonly held misconception about the moon s phases. The
typical reason given for the cause of the moon phases is that we are observing the shadow of the Earth
on the Moon! But it s not true. When the Moon goes through the shadow of the Earth, we obtain a
lunar eclipse. The reality is that the moon crosses through the Earth s shadow only occasionally, so
that can t be the reason of moon s phases.
The actual reason for the moon s phases focuses on two prime aspects: the moon has a round shape ...
Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This phase is known as full moon because it becomes fully illuminated by the sunlight. This is the one
and only period in an entire month when the Earth s shadow is anywhere next to the moon. The
shadow of the Earth directly points towards the moon at this time. But the moon moves above or
below the shade and no eclipse generates.
After one week, the moon has crossed another quarter of the path around the Earth. It remains in the
third quarter position at that time. And the sunlight directly falls on the other fraction of the visible
part of the moon.
Finally, after a week, the moon returns to the starting position, known as the new moon . Generally, it
moves above or below the sun, but it rarely arrives right in front of the sun, and we have an eclipse of
the sun.
So, it is prominent that the moon s phases are not produced by the shadow of the earth falling on the
moon. Actually, the shade of the Earth falls on the moon only for two times, when there are lunar
eclipses in a year.
There are apparently thousands of websites that reveal what creates the moon s phases. If you want to
know more about the changes of the moon s phases, you should definitely check out several moon

Katha Pollitt What s Wrong With Gay Marriage
Gay Marriage
Katha Pollitt s, What s Wrong with Gay Marriage, is an article about why Gay Marriage should be
accepted without question. Pollitt views what social conservatives (530) have to say about marriage,
and how their belief that marriage is all about procreation isn t persuasive to those outside of the right
wing think tank, Catholic marriage tribunal, or ultra Orthodox rabbi court. (Pollitt 530). Pollitt tells
her readers to scratch procreation and then examines the theory that, marriage is the way women
domesticate men. Continuing with well known right winger George Gilder s theory, she uses his
statistical support that married men are much less likely than single men to take drugs, steal a car,

way, has to do with procreation. The fact that they come to a common agreement that having kids is a
major part of marriage, and for Colson a marital requirement, is an important comparison since Pollitt
is writing in favor of same sex marriage. Both authors agree that our traditional marriage today,
consisting of a man and woman, are too easily dissolved. They also agree that many family tragedies
are a result of broken marriages. Lastly, a major similarity both Pollitt and Colson talk about it the

The Current Global Economic Crisis Would Change the Face...
INTRODUCTION TO CIVIL AVIATION
Lucas Lee
Executive Summary
The current global economic crisis has changed the way aviation industry goes about its business. It
has brought about a boom in low cost carriers, which has made travelling by air cheaper for the
masses. Services offered by airlines and airports are also of higher standards to make people want to
travel by air.
The economic downturn has seen a significant drop of investments in the aviation market. Airport
ground handlers and airplane part manufacturers have also had to retrench their workers in order to
counterbalance the poor market. The amount of air traffic is likely to decrease as well, as people are
travelling lesser and choosing cheaper alternatives.
People ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pratt amp; Whitney, an engine manufacturer for planes, is set to cut 200 jobs in an attempt to
counterbalance the poor market. The big players like Boeing and Airbus may face such problems in
the future even though large amount of orders for the B787 and A380 have been placed. They may
have to come up with better variants in order to keep up their sales.
There would also be a change in the volume of air traffic. The previously busy air traffic may die
down due to the fact that people are travelling lesser. People would also want to travel cheaper. Hence,
instead of taking planes they would choose cheaper means of transportation like trains, ships and
coaches.
With the decrease in amount of flights, ground handlers may have lesser things to do and they may
face retrenchment. Product sales in the airport shops may drop as well since there are lesser people
visiting the airport. Airports may not be earning as much as before and terminals may eventually be
closed to sustain the financial situation.
The face of aviation would have to change in order to sustain the current situation, and the fact that the
economy downturn has already started to show it s effects, the industry has to evolve and remain
relevant to suit the needs of people, and in time to come I believe that aviation would be forced to
become cheaper in order to recover from the current economic crisis.

Paleolithic Kinship
Around 10,000 to 2.5 million years ago, the first period of the Stone Age, the Paleolithic Era, existed
and was known for the nomadic lifestyle that its people lived. The people of the Paleolithic Era were
hunter gatherers who moved constantly in search of animals to hunt and plants to gather. The
Paleolithic people preferred to live off of the resources that existed in abundance in a given region,
rather than producing resources for themselves. For this reason, the Paleolithic people were organized
into small kinship societies. Small kinship societies enabled the Paleolithic people to live in groups
and survive from available resources because larger kinship societies require more resources and
living space, which was not ideal. Since the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to their nomadic lifestyle, the Paleolithic people lived in huts, simple tent structures, or in nearby

from wood and animal skins to bone and even stone. The Paleolithic people used these materials to
build simple tools like clubs and scrapers, and even weapons like small axes, flints, and simple
arrowheads, which helped them, live day after day. Aside from their weapons and tools, the people of
the Paleolithic Era made a great discovery when they learned to control and master the concept of

The Avoidance Of Eating Cattle
Have you ever craved a nice juicy piece of steak, but had to settle for the dry asparagus? This is what
Hindu people who follow their cultural traditions have to deal with. The food practice that I am
discussing is the avoidance of eating cattle in Hinduism. I will specifically focus on moral issues
regarding killing and eating cattle in the religion as compared to other moral religious codes. In
Western society most cultures don t see a moral issue when eating beef. I know my family eats beef at
least twice a week so I was always surrounded by the meat product. The reason I chose to write about
why Hindus don t eat cattle is because my roommate is Hindu and follows this cultural practice. I
respect his ways and don t judge him for not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite popular belief cattle are not worshipped in Hinduism, but rather held in high esteem. There are
a couple different historic reasons why Hindus don t eat cow. The first being that during the
development of the religion cattle were extremely expensive to slaughter as they produced a lot of
other food and work and were more valuable left alive. It was financially impractical for early Hindus
to eat cattle. Additionally, cattle were seen as the appropriate gift for Brahmins who were the high
priests of Hinduism at the time. It eventually came to be seen that killing some cattle was almost
equivalent to insulting a Brahmin in their culture, meaning that there was a strong taboo against
Lastly, the development and subsequent spread of Jainism in the region, which expressively forbids
harming any type of animal, may have influenced early Hindus not to eat cattle. Many rural Hindu
families own a dairy cow which greatly assists them in their way of life. Due to the value of life
placed on cattle in Hinduism there is a moral concern regarding killing the animal. One that is not
commonly held in Western religions in our lives today. The cow is one of the greatest symbols for
selfless giving by providing us milk, curds, ghee butter, urine, and dong and these are all used in
Hindu worship also. The fact that products that the cow produces are so important not only to the
Hindu way of life, but also to

False Confessions In The Criminal Justice System
False confessions are a major problem in the Criminal Justice system, since 1989, a total of two
thousand people have been convicted for serious crimes that they did not commit. There are many
causes of false confessions, some including a low IQ and mental illness. Today, people are often
targeted by detectives when being interrogated for committing a crime. As the causes of false
confessions include mental illness and low intelligence quote, therefore leading to false convictions,
there has to be solutions to these issues.
False confessions are disclosures of guilt for a crime in which the confessor does not appear
responsible. Starting off, the Pittsburgh Post claims, Most false interrogations involve assertive
confessions where police ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First off, The Pittsburgh Post bring s up, Statements can be complicated to document due to many
police organizations fail to videotape interrogations (Moushey). This example describes that many
police agencies fail to record the interrogations that they are involved in which causes the cases to be
unsolved for many years. To continue, New York Times claims, Police use a variation of techniques to
receive a certain disclosure, but the techniques used can be hard for the jury to comprehend (Dolan).
This confirmation proves that the techniques used to reveal evidence can not be understood by the
court, therefore, recordings during interrogations are avoided. Moving on, New York Times explains,
Legal authorities claim that the best way to make sure confessions are truthful is to require detectives
to document and record interrogations (Dolan). This quote verifies that it should be essential for
detectives and police to videotape questioning because they may be tricking victims into confessing.
Finally, New York Times mentions, Tape recording could prevent police from doing remarkable
techniques and prevent false convictions (Dolan). This citation clarifies that tape recording could
prevent police from going the extra mile to find someone guilty in their case. Many police break the
law by trying to find a victim guilty and tricking them into falsely confessing to a crime they

The Winter
We ve got to get those crops in soon honey. The rains are coming and so is the cold.
Yes I know dear. I m not even sure we will have enough for the winter. Oh Morgan, I m worried. With
Suzie crook and these fusses lately; she s just a girl. Not very strong you know. Yes Barbara, I know. If
we just conserve what supplies the good Lord has helped us gather for the coming seasons. I ll try to
hunt for more meat; I ll trap some more furs to sell at the markets before the bite of winter truly sets
in. We ll be fine honey.
Oh I hope so Morgan. I Really do.
It was a simple home that Morgan had constructed himself when they settled here two years ago. He
had sawn and shaped the timber poles with some help from the neighbors well, hardly neighbors since
the closest one was about three miles away across rough terrain.
However, it served. He had even installed real glass panels in the window frames. They cost a pretty
penny, and yet absolutely essential in this harsh and extreme climate up here in the mountains. Flat
land was not common at such an altitude. The soil was rich from ancient volcanic activity in the area.
Crops grew well, usually despite the terrain. This year had been a harsher one however than from what
the locals had said; for ten years or thereabouts .
It was that same period of time in which several families, starved to death in their mountain huts
because of crop failures. Bodies had lain undiscovered until the next spring, looking like frozen meat

Essay #3: Cookies are widely used to track consumers and profile their preferences and interests.
Discuss the benefits and drawbacks of the use of cookies for both businesses and consumers.
Introduction:
Cookies have become an online phenomenon. They have many benefits and drawbacks for both
businesses and consumers in modern society. Everyone that has access to the internet, a phone or

implementation of cookies on their virtual profiles. Cookies are controversially beneficial to
businesses more so than consumers; however, consumers do get suggestions/advertisements of the

Consumers often use a search engine such as Google to browse for content that applies to their

International Trade of Developing Countries
International trade of developing countries is the classic weak vs. strong dichotomy, and
underdeveloped or developing countries cannot make it solely on their own efforts; the have nots need

international trade issues is untrammeled or open market activity as opposed to government
intervention by developed nations governments. This begs the question as to what extent the
governments of developed nations are or should be responsible for supporting developing countries

Recent literature on international trade negotiation accords considerable attention to the ways in which
developing countries increasingly coalesce to effect gains for themselves in negotiation, mostly with
the developed world. This is both appropriate and important: from the Uruguay Round to the Doha
Round, coalitions have facilitated the gains (and, at times, the losses) made by the weak against the
strong. (Singh, 2006, p. 499).
Regional agreements and export import aid by developed nations to developing nations have provided
some relief through the U.S. Export Import Bank (Ex Im Bank), the North American Free Trade
Agreement (NAFTA), the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and the European
Union/Common Market, among others (Carbaugh, 2013).
Import Substitution and Export led Growth
The two key approaches by developing nations to implement their own trade policies are import
substitution and export led growth. Import substitution strategy is inward oriented: trade and industrial
incentives favor the domestic market over the export market of developing nations, a strategy utilized
extensively in Latin America by Argentine, Brazil, and Mexico (Carbaugh, 2013, p. 247). Advantages
of this approach include:

Francois realized that there has to be some connection with the flies as Henri asked him about the flies

Theme Of Green Light In The Great Gatsby
The American dream is an ideology in which success can be achieved by any individual through
hardwork and dedication, however in F. Scott Fitzgerald s allusive novel, The Great Gatsby, the
American dream proves to be unattainable. In the novel, the green light represents Gatsby s fiery
desire to own Daisy and the valley of ashes represents the turmoil faced by the working class in order
to achieve the American dream. Fitzgerald effectively uses the glowing green light at the end of the
Buchanan s dock and the desolate wasteland that is the valley of ashes as symbols, in order to shape
and reinforce the theme of the impossible pursuit of the American dream. Throughout the novel, there
are numerous mentions of the glowing green light and its symbolic representation of hope. Located at
the end of the Buchanan s dock, Gatsby associates this light with Daisy and his dream of having her
all to himself. At night, Gatsby stands on his blue lawn and looks out towards the green light, reaching
up as if he is trying to grasp it but of course, the distance is preventing him to do so. He puts Daisy on
the highest of pedestals and sees her as this ray of light, this trophy girl that is his to win if only he
could close the distance between them. This is evident when Nick first sees Gatsby and states He
stretched out his arms towards the dark water in a curious way [...] Involuntarily I glanced seaward
and distinguished nothing except a single green light, minute and far away

Farenheit 451- Lit By Ray Bradbury
Fahrenheit 451 Lit. Critique
The title of the book I read was Fahrenheit 451. The book was written by Ray Bradbury and was
published in 1951. This book is about a dystopian America where there is extreme censorship and any
media (mainly books) that questions the government is burned by a branch called the Firemen. The
main character whose name is Guy Montag is a fireman who begins to realize that what he s doing is
wrong after meeting a young girl named Clarisse. As the book goes on it is revealed that Montag had
been stashing books in his vents for a long time and tried to show them to his wife, but she doesn t
want anything to do with it. His wife Mildred towards the end of the book actually ends up reporting
him to the Firemen, when she does this Montag is at work and shows up on the call to witness his wife
get into a taxi and leave him. Then to throw salt in the wound the Fireman Captain Beatty forces
Montag to burn his own house to the ground before being arrested for possession of illegal media, but
after Montag burns the house he turns on Beatty burning him with the flamethrower and knocking out
the other two firemen before fleeing. After having finished reading it I thought that this book was
really good, it kept my attention the whole time and had a big surprise at the end. (The full ending is
not included in the summary.) This book also has many sad moments that let you relate to the
protagonist.
My favorite character in this book is Guy Montag. The reason that

Short Run And Long Run Effects
Short Run and Long Run Effects In the short run, both global demand and supply of oil are relatively
inelastic because it is difficult for them to make large adjustments to price changes in a short period of
time. When oil price rises, oil consumers, such as manufacturing firms and households, may not be
able to reduce their demand for oil immediately. For example, individuals still need to drive to work
and manufacturing firms with long term contracts still need to run machinery to meet target output.
Similarly, an increase in oil price would not stimulate oil supply in the short run. Additional supply
generally requires the exploration of new reserves and construction of new infrastructure for delivery
which require substantial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Simultaneously, traditional manufacturing sectors would suffer from rising input costs and reduced
competitiveness in the international market. The net effect would be a decrease in total real exports.
Moreover, the reallocation of resources, labor and capital would occur in favor of oil industry. The
extent of these long run effects would depend on the magnitude of initial price shock and the duration
of price increases. Impacts of Rising Oil Prices on Canadian Output A significant increase in oil price
would have little impact on Canadian overall output but large regional and sectoral implications. The
oil producing provinces would benefit from rising income while the oil consuming ones would suffer
due to the higher cost of living and production. This would also lead to reallocation of capital and
labor across energy and other industries. Potential impacts are expected to be more pronounced in the
long run than in the short run because of relative inelasticity of oil demand and supply in the short run.
Canada is the world s fifth largest oil producer, with daily production of more than 3.6 million barrels
in 2015 (Statistics Canada). Despite large national production, Canada only produces about 5% of
world s total daily production and thus does not have large influencing power on the international oil
price. Since February 2016, oil price has shown an upward trend. It soared from USD$29.44 per barrel
in February 2016 to USD$54.45 per barrel in February

A Brief Look Into The Evolution Of The From Atomic Theory
A Brief Look into the Evolution of DFT from Atomic Theory
Quantum Theory
The idea of atom existed as early as the Greek and Indian civilizations but more as a philosophical
thought rather than a well defined theory based on empirical evidence. Atom was assumed as
something that is indestructible and the smallest component that makes up matter. It took almost 2000
years for the development of modern day atomic theory with proof for the existence of atoms and
further subatomic particles. The archaeological classification of human history as stone age, bronze
age and iron age better depicts the evolution of macroscopic chemistry first. Much later through the
fundamental studies in electromagnetism and blackbody radiation, the discovery and ... Show more

In 1923 De Broglie described the movement of electrons as a wave with an associated wavelength (λ)
related as λ = h/p, where p is the momentum and h is Planck s constant. This hypothesis was
confirmed in experiments and Stern later generalized this behavior to all microscopic particles.
The contradictory nature of wave particle duality, the concept of a non localized wave versus a
localized particle, posed a problem in simultaneous description of position and momentum which was
theorized by Heisenberg in his uncertainty principle. This necessitated a new theory to describe the
non deterministic nature of atomic particles. Erwin Schrodinger in 1926 postulated the concept of a
wave function Ψ(x, t), the state of a system which is a function of particle coordinates, and its change
with time. Max Born dissected wave function and presented |Ψ(x, t)2|dx as the probability of finding a
particle at time t in the region between x and x+dx. Born along with Oppenheimer later proposed a
modification to the wave function separating the nuclear motion from electron motion due to the large
difference in masses. Time independent, non relativistic Schrodinger equation is an eigen value
problem and the solution to the Schrodinger s Equation gives us the wave function. For atoms of
higher atomic number, it becomes cumbersome to solve this equation, how it is handled we will
discuss shortly. Paul Dirac and Linus Pauling contributed more to the development of fundamental

City Of Jerusalem Research Paper
The city of Jerusalem is a very diverse city with many major religions having been part of the history
of Jerusalem. Judaism was one of the first monotheistic religions that centred on Jerusalem as it
became a major city for many Jewish people after they divided in to two tribes. Christianity is another
religion that has a centre in Jerusalem as it was mentioned in many Bible stories and is where many
miracles happened. Finally, Islam is one of the last monotheistic religions that are centred on
Jerusalem because it was where many of its major prophets came from. The city of Jerusalem can be
considered a major religious centre for Judaism, Islam and Christianity because it has been involved in
many major events from all three of those religions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The city of Jerusalem can be considered a major centre to Christianity because it is the location of
Jesus s travels and it is also where he was killed, resurrected and ascended into heaven. It is also to
location of where many of Jesus s miracles were performed. This is shown through the quote During
Passover in the third year of his public life, Jesus entered Jerusalem and was welcomed by the crowds
who rushed to meet him with palm branches. However, religious authorities were planning his arrest.
(DesRivieres 225)This quote shows us that Jesus was a very important figure for Christianity as he
was greeted by many people. It also proves that the location of Jesus s death and resurrection would be
in the area around Jerusalem as it was where he was arrested for blasphemy. All this means that
Jerusalem is a major centre for Christianity as many major events surrounding the life of Jesus
occurred. Another way Jerusalem is a major city for Christianity is because it is where the religion
itself came from and how it spread from that with The Pentecost. The Pentecost was a major event that
caused the followers of Jesus to gain the ability to speak different languages in order to spread
Christianity to different countries. (Zavada) An article also says Pentecost, a Jewish feast, was
celebrated 50 days after Passover, and pilgrims had come to Jerusalem from all over the world to
celebrate the event. The 12 apostles were gathered together in a house when a terrific wind came from
heaven and filled the place. They saw tongues that looked like fire that separated and came down on
each of them. (Zavada) This quote shows us that the early Christian Church started in Jerusalem and
spread throughout the world from there. This means that Jerusalem is an important religious centre in
Christianity because it originated from there. These reasons are why Jerusalem is also a major
religious centre to

There was a warm breeze that Friday in September when I packed my two large bags, kissed my
family and friends good bye, and left my home. Thus the greatest adventure of my life was begun. On
my first day of studying in France, I woke up early and took a quasi shower, which consisted of
sprinkling myself with water for hours until all the soap finally drained out of my hair. My dressing
procedures were followed by a silent breakfast that consisted of some bitter tasting, dark liquid and a
hard, bread like substance. The bread I ate dry, for fear of the dark scary looking pot of jam. I packed
my books and headed off for class.

When I got through the stone wall that surrounds my city, there was a small bar, where men sat outside
drinking hard liquor at 8:00 in the morning. They all stared at me as I passed and thought seriously
about surrounding me and harassing me until I screamed for help. I walked carefully down the narrow
sidewalk of the street, until I passed a man walking the opposite way. He tried to run me off the
sidewalk and scowled at me just for being in his way. He thought, I wish these Americans would learn
how to walk. Not long after that, there was a strange and straggly looking man in my path. He tried to
stop me by asking me a question, but I kept walking. I didn t understand the question because he said
it in French, but I m pretty sure he was just trying to torture and embarrass me.
When I passed the cafe just outside of my school, there were a number of beautiful people drinking

Americans out of our country soon . . .

Rock And Roll Outline
a. What is rock and roll?
i. Rock and roll music began developing in the 1950s and still continues to grow today. This is a type
of music that almost everybody in the world is somewhat familiar with due to how popular and
successful rock and roll has become. Today, rock and roll represents almost one third of the U.S.
market and more than twice the market share of the second place rap/hip hop. (online book, cite). One
of many reasons rock and roll grew to be so infectious is because of its acceptance of all people no
matter their race, gender, style, etc. This genre has several sub genres that have branched off from the
original rock and roll style, all of which contributed to making rock and roll so contagious.

Due to lack of rightful accreditation back in the 1950s, Helen Kolawole expresses her opinion about
how the entertainment industry should finally be upfront about the originations of several hit songs
that credited white artists instead of the originators who were black. For example, Elvis Presley is a
well respected legend who was known as the king of rock and roll. Due to Elvis being so successful in
his career, the issue of several songs recorded by him, originally being written by black artists, arises
and irritates people of the African American race. It is prejudiced that this white God is forever
remembered as one of the biggest stars in history when his success was partly based off of black
artists who continue to be unrecognized. It is fair to say that several white artists are better known for
their success over black artists. Helen Kolowale makes a valid point in relation to media arrogance
and dishonesty means we are eternally bound to live in a skewed world where Elvis is king of rock n
roll, Clapton is the guitar God, Sinatra is the voice and Astaire is the greatest dancer. (article by Helen)

THE INTERCONNECTION OF BIBLE INERRANCY WITH BAPTIST REVIVAL
Introduction
When Baptists are called Bible lovers, it not only means that they keep biblical principles, but it also
indicates that they believe what the Bible says. Although most denominations have given up their
position for the authority of the Bible, Baptists in America remain the largest and most organized
conservative group for supporting Bible inerrancy. However, the debates over Biblical inerrancy have
threatened even the Bible lovers with an unceasing controversy in Baptist history. The issue of Bible
inerrancy has caused many frictions and wounds among denominations as well as Baptist.

Princeton held outstanding conservative scholars such as A. A. Hodge and Benjamin Warfield; they
defended Bible inerrancy against the liberals and their high criticism toward the inspiration of the
whole Scripture. At first, the conservatives came to the conclusion, in a theological apology of
Princeton theologians, that nothing justified the ascription of error to any part of Scripture. Soon,
however, Princeton finally gave way to a modified and moderate view on the inerrancy of the Bible.
Eventually, the conservative theology of other denominations collapsed, and the Presbyterian
denomination separated due to the deviation from Bible inerrancy. Some became isolated and formed
their own sector by defending Bible inerrancy with the an advent of dispensational movement. This
dispensational conception of biblical inerrancy made a huge contribution to the fundamentalist
movement developing in the North among Baptists, Presbyterians, and independents during the

Example 1:
Students Who Care is a student volunteer program in which college students donate work time in
community centers for homeless people. Professor Gill is the faculty sponsor for this student volunteer
program. For several years Dr. Gill has kept a record of the total number of work hours volunteered by

number of hours was 29.1 hours with a standard deviation of 1.7 hours. Find an interval for the
number of hours volunteered in which at least 88.9% of the students in this program would fit.
Solution:
From the table above we see that a percentage of 88.9 will coincide with an interval of [pic] hours.
This can be rewritten as an interval from 24 to 34.2 hours volunteered each semester.

Differences Between Private Sector And Voluntary Sector
1. Understand organisational structures
1.1 Explain the differences between the private sector, public sector and voluntary sector
Private Sector
Businesses and industries that are not owned or controlled by the Government. Private Sector
organisations operate privately to make a profit with income generated from the sale of their products
or services. Although many private sector firms are owned and controlled by individuals, many are
owned by groups of people; for example, companies may be owned by shareholders, who have
invested in that company.
The Private Sector includes:

The Voluntary Sector is often referred to as the Third Sector or Not for Profit Sector. Whist they do
not exist to provide profit for shareholders, they need to generate income.
The Voluntary Sector includes:
Charities Oxfam, Red Cross, YMCA, Women s Royal Voluntary Service
Trusts Local Housing Associations
Local community organisations Neighbourhood Watch Schemes
Societies/Clubs Local sports clubs, Scouts, Guides
1.2 Explain the functions of different organisational structures
Having the appropriate structure is vital for an organisation or business to meet its aims and
objectives. A business may be structured by:
Functions activities such as customer service, marketing, operations, finance or IT
Location where regional divisions of the business take responsibility for a specific function or
particular products, whether locally, nationally or internationally
Product or services where the business is divided into the particular products made or services
provided
All organisations have employees working at different levels of responsibility. At the bottom, a
business depends on its operatives to produce the products or services. Team leaders often perform the
day to day management role, with operational managers setting direction and strategy for the business
as a whole. The number of employees in each level will depend on the business

Cost and Reasonable Rental Value
I. Purposes of the Brief
This brief amicus curiae does not address the merits of the predatory pricing allegation against
BuyGasCo Corporation ( BuyGasCo ). It speaks only to the nature of the cost accounting system that
we, as students of accounting, think to be appropriate for addressing the issues presented by cases of
this general type.
We offer our views on this subject out of concern about the allocation of indirect costs used in
assessing the appropriate gasoline cost value in State of Florida v. BuyGasCo Corporation, 2003
05143 (D. FL. 2003). We regard the allocation system employed in that opinion to be inconsistent
with systems in common practice. Use of that system has a potential adverse effect on both the motor
fuel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This system is often imprecise as it distributes costs on the basis of a single variable when there are
typically several factors involved, particularly when there are multiple end products sold.
To address this imprecision, we offer a refined costing system which reduces the use of generalized
averages in the allocation of costs. In general, this is accomplished by first dividing the indirect costs
into homogeneous pools so that we can more appropriately distribute them. Second, these cost pools
are allocated on the basis of the driver of that cost segment which ensures that costs are more
accurately tied to their source. Thus, a refined costing system is preferable as it ultimately delivers a
more correct cause and effect relationship between costs and their sources.
Although this system is preferable, it has some disadvantages. First, refined costing systems require
more information about the nature of the costs involved, and often gathering this information results in
additional costs for the firm. Second, even with a broad range of data available, some averaging and
estimations are still necessary. So, without outside motivation, such as the MFMPA, small firms retain
simple costing systems.
IV. Dr. Humboldt s Refined Costing System
In his analysis for the Defendant, Dr J. T. Humboldt proposed BuyGasCo adopt a

The Oppression Of Motherhood
When will you have a child? is a question often heard by women nearing a certain age, or upon
achieving certain milestones in her life (such as marriage or after her 30th birthday). While it may be
true that women are indeed the only ones with the ability to bear children, having a child is portrayed
as a woman s right of passage. Individuals frequently overstep boundaries of privacy and inquire
insensitively about a woman s personal plan for children, and the male glorifying society is to be
blamed for this prying and expectation. Due to the fact that motherhood in general is largely linked to
women s subordination to men, voluntary alternate decisions are subject to public criticism for
violating the dominant norm. However, what if a woman truly has no desire to become a mother? Is it
really something that every woman should aspire to? Why are women who opt not to procreate
stigmatized in the first place? Is motherhood really as rewarding as portrayed to be? It is vital to note

incredibly lively, the tables were full, everyone was talking and laughing loudly, and the waiters never

and unsafe space helps create and build up tension. At the beginning of the film Jaws , the shark s
attacks are close by to the shore, which shows us that the shallow water cannot stop it from attacking
people. But as the film persists, the shark attacks are out in the middle of the ocean and from the
moment the characters leave the beach to go hunting, they are cut off from the rest of the characters.
This is where the mise en scene technique is most used in the film. The shark cannot be seen as it is a
vast ocean and it could jump out unexpectedly of at any time from any direction at the characters,
which would destroy the safe space.
The film was directed by Steven Spielberg, a well known director in Hollywood and a splendid
director throughout his filming career. The film was produced by David Brown and Richard D.
Zanuck in 1975. The film lasts 93 minutes and is rated as a 12. The idea of creating this film came
from the book Jaws written by Peter Benchley. Like many of Spielberg s films, the film Jaws can be
classified as Action,

Beveridge Report On The Welfare State
This essay will discuss the key points of the Beveridge report (1942), and evaluate the significance of
the report on the welfare state. In November 1942, William Beveridge presented a report called, Social
Insurance and Allied Services to parliament. This was a summary of principles to improve upon the
existing welfare benefits system, to benefit working people and the population. The document
proposed a new system to be operated by one governing agency, called Social Security. This would be
put in place by the state after World War 2 had ended. Overall Beveridge created the most
revolutionary document in our history. Beveridge has played a significant role in evolving the Welfare
State over the decades. (Robinson, 2003).

Administration The Social Insurance scheme would need to make big changes to the administration
process for this scheme to run smoothly and be successful. Beveridge wanted every worker to obtain
one insurance document weekly, rather than two. He saw this as an opportunity for the new system to
be under one governing agency called The Ministry of Social Security. The new system also
implemented classes to the National Insurance scheme, such as: Class I for employees: Class II for
Employers, traders, self employed and any other independent workers: Class III Housewives (this has
now been amended for all people of working age, who have had a break in employment, or earn too
little for it to be recorded): Class IV Others of working age or not working (self employed).
The National Insurance scheme is still in force today, some changes have since been made to the
insurance classes, but it still has the same point. The class you pay depends on your employment
status and how much you earn, and whether you have any gaps in your National Insurance record. A
great way to make the National Insurance more functional was changing the original two piece
document just to one. Over 20 million people received these documents, so in essence this saved time,
money and paperwork. Beveridge s overall goal was to set in motion a strong Social Insurance
Scheme that was functional and up to date, benefiting all involved to make the

Settlement Of San Antonio And The Defense Of All This New...
For through observation and exploration of those lands and coasts, both by land and sea, it must be
recognized that these settlements must be the rampart, fortress, and the defense of all this New Spain.
(pg. 1). The author Jesus F. de la Teja takes a objective look of settlement of San Antonio and its
surroundings. His book covers over the course of a period of the 18th Century. His writings describe
the life of the settlers, economics, living conditions, and their use of the land. He does a superior job
of characterizing the early Texas Colonial settlers daily life. The author uses distinct unbiased
information that rundowns the growth of the settlement of San Antonio. Tejada addresses a past that

How livestock were rounded up and then taken on cattle drives. The cattle drives would end at train
stations where the livestock were loaded up. The trains would transport the cattle to meat producing

San Antonio. With the many diverse groups and families settling San Antonio, Teja covers the
diversity the area goes through. Teja could have placed more emphasis in painting a picture that San
Antonio was the focal point in the Northern Boundary lands. I highly endorse this book for a person
looking to study the growth of San Antonio in the 18th Century. Community in San Antonio de Bexar
did not spring up overnight. It was the product of a Shared struggle for survival among people who
initially had little in common. (pg. 160) According to Chipman, The author Teja is a scholar who is
focused on the formation of the community at San Antonio de Bexar during the 18th Century.
(Chipman) Teja provides a precise overview of the early settlers norms, beliefs, and attitudes in
occupying San Antonio in an nonpartisan manner. Permanently settled in 1718, San Antonio began as
a military and missionary outpost on the northern frontier of New Spain. (Chipman) Teja also captures
how the older settlers viewed their relationship with the arrogant Islenos. Chipman further reflects on

The Benefits Of Botatic Gardens
Botanical gardens or botanic gardens are generally well tended parks displaying a wide range of plants
labelled with their botanical names. According to Smith (2011: para. 1line 2), they may contain
specialist plant collections such as cacti and succulent plants, herb gardens plants from particular parts
of the world. There may be green houses with special collections too such as tropical plants, alpine
plants or other exotic plants.

Botanic gardens are uniquely placed to help address issues that are relevant to restore ecosystems.
According to Hill (2005: para. 1 line 1) theyprovide knowledge and expertise in plant taxonomy,
horticulture, conservation biology, restoration ecology and ethnology. Botanic gardens are also
collectively and they serve as a global repository for documented plant materials. Botanic gardens
bring understanding to ensure that the restoration leads to adequate taxonomic diversity and
incorporates appropriate genetic provenance.
Botanic gardens are well placed to raise awareness amongst the public of the need and benefits that
can be derived from, successful ecological restoration projects. The gardens will also address the need
for greater political commitment, awareness and participation in restoration work . (Hill et al. 2005:

The Passion Of Joan Of Arc And Sweet Smell Of Success By...
Silent films ushered in the era of moving pictures and paved the way to modern cinema. Films such as
The Passion of Joan of Arc and Sweet Smell of Success represent the early and later stages of this time
period that was dominated by silent films. Within these films, two actors stand out for their
performances and there own unique traits they utilize to make the character they are representing their
own. Renée Jeanne Falconetti and Burt Lancaster both are superb leading actors that, through their
own methods, make these characters come alive. Regardless of these performances though, there are
both similarities and differences that they portray in their movies. These films were shot with cameras
that lacked a multitude of settings and this led to a very theater esque method of filming. Many of
these silent films were shot with non moving cameras, obviously no sound, and also less effects.
[BRING UP READING IN REGARDS TO INTRO TO FILMS] This lack of supplemental technology
forced these actors to up their game so to speak and really carry the film themselves, rather than
saturate the screen with fancy effects that so many modern movies revolve around. This forced the
director to focus on the facial expressions of the cast in order to display both tone and intent during
every scene. Live music sometimes accompanied these films in order to help set these moods so the
actor could focus on character development and expression. The first character to be discussed is

The Perfectionist In The Enneagram
There are moments in one s life when the light shines so bright that it is painful. This is especially true
for the Perfectionist in the Enneagram who needs to face both the best of their personality type, but
also the dark side of their flaws. With a pure heart, Ian Morgan Cron offers The Road back to You,
where he attempts to lovingly help all people become their true self, which will bring more honor to
God and satisfaction in life. What is more, Cron speaks from experience when he was dealt a painful
dose of reality in being told, What we don t know about ourselves can and will hurt us, not to mention
others...As long as we stay in the dark about how we see the world and the wounds and beliefs that
have shaped who we are, we re prisoners of our history. We ll continue going through life on autopilot
doing things that hurt and confuse ourselves and everyone around us (Cron 15). Therefore, Cron

becoming a healthy One is connected to forgiving oneself and living from grace. In fact, Cron says the
message every One must tell themselves over and over is A person does not need to be perfect to be

Art doesn t have to explain itself, or defend itself. Or convince that it s art in the eye s beholder. It can
be self expression. It can be commentary. It can reflect the world or give meaning to the universe. Or

because the content or context in said work offends them, or triggers them. According to Peggy
Noonan of The Wall Street Journal, It (triggering) has been going on for a while and is part of a
growing censorship movement in which professors, administrators, and many others are accused of
racism, sexism, homophobia, classism, gender bias, and ethnocentric thinking, among other things.

Trigger warnings have long been a main stay for feminist websites, used to alert readers to graphic
descriptions of abuse or violence. (Moore) First thing s first, people define being triggered in two
different ways as time has progressed. Technically, something triggering a person meant that they saw
something that gave them a flashback to a traumatic memory, such as abuse or rape.. Recently, people
are associating trigger warnings with people who get upset when someone has different views than
they do and want nothing to do with a topic they don t agree with. While these warnings are meant in
good nature and safety, they spoil the experience of the piece by giving away what it store for the
viewer. These kinds of warnings don t work the way spoiler alerts, NSFW warnings, or film ratings
do; trigger warnings detail specific pinpoints about an art piece to prevent the viewer to remember a
traumatic experience in the past, or to prevent people who are disturbed by a topic from viewing it.

How Did William Tweed Lead To The Tamobilier Scandal
William Tweed was the boss of Tammany Hall. Tammany Hall was a political organization that was
formed in 1789 and was in opposition to the Federalist Party. The business was very popular in its
time for the willingness it had to help the city s poor and immigrant populations. William Tweed,
however, corrupted the company s reputation, and turned it into an image of greed and twisted motive.
As political boss, Mr. Tweed used his formal and informal authority to make profit for himself and the
other accomplices. The group altogether became known as the Tweed ring, and somehow they found a
way to extort an estimated $30 million to $200 million. Tweed used this money to become one of the
city s largest landowners by the end of the 1860 s. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This company was given contracts to build railroads. Congressmen were then offered great shares in
the construction which allowed the congressmen to approve federal payments without paying attention
to the expenses. This meant that the railroad builders made large amount of profit, but had no idea
how they were affecting the railroad. The railroad companies were entirely impoverished by the end of
the whole process. Those involved in the scandals realized through time that much more money could
be gained from construction contracts than from operating the completed road. The vice president at
the time, Schuyler Colfax, who was then Speaker of the house, had even bought shares. When the
scandal became a public matter, James Blaine appointed an investigation committee ran by
Representative Luke Poland in 1872. Mr. Blain said that, A charge of bribery is the gravest that can be
made in a legislative body. It seems to me... that this charge demands prompt, thorough, and impartial
investigation. . Several of those officials involved, however, were implicated but not punished. They
claimed that the payment was a gift and not in any way a bribe. Another angered Justice rephrased a
passage of scripture, saying, Let him that has not betrayed the trust of the people , and is without stain,
cast the first stone. . That quote was directed at the press who were enraged because of the scandal.
The Justice was in a way pointing out that the press has manipulated and twisted the view of the
public on many occasions. In that case, the press is without room to place blame and

The Impact On Society s Influence On Moral Growth
Morals are a person s belief system of what is fundamentally right and wrong. This system is shaped
and molded throughout life, and is constantly evolving and fluctuating. Many factors influence one s
morals. Different events in life, different environments, and the people which surround individuals.
Two of the most influence groups of people which influence people s morals are family and friends.
One would think family has the greatest impact on morals. Family, more specifically parents or
guardians, lay the base work of morality. Family ascribe onto their children the basis of a moral code.
But it is friends which have the greatest impact on a person s believe system and moral principles.
This is because people are born into their families, meaning people cannot help what principles are
assigned to them (Friedman 196). Friends are voluntary and chosen, meaning friends have a greater
impact on moral growth compared to family or other close relationships. Friendship, in a way, is
essential and critical for moral growth. Marilyn Friedman is one philosopher who connects friendship
and its importance to moral growth. First off, Friedman gives some characteristics a friendship must
have in order to allow moral expansion. As mentioned previously, a friendship must be voluntary with
only some limits imposed by certain external constraints (Friedman 209). The act of choosing friends
is significant, because one chooses who to associate with and partake in intimate discussions

The Working Principle Of Eddy Current Brake Mechanism
ABSTRACT
This paper presentation explores the working principle of eddy current brake mechanism, which can
be
Analyzed by Maxwell 3D Transient solver. An eddy current brake, like a conventional friction brake,
is
Responsible for slowing an object, such as a train or a roller coaster etc. Unlike the friction brakes,
which apply pressure on two separate objects, eddy current brakes slow an object by creating eddy
currents through electromagnetic induction which create resistance, and in turn either heat or
electricity. In this paper, linear Halfback magnetized mover is applied to eddy current braking system
for high speed. For such a breaker, we give analytical formulas considering end effects for its
magnetic field, eddy current distribution, forces according to the secondary relative permeability, and
conductivity. The results given here are purely analytic applicable.
I. INTRODUCTION
Magnetic brakes
Magnetic brakes are a relatively new technology that is beginning to gain popularity due to their high
degree of safety. Rather than slowing a train via friction (such as fin or skid brakes), which can often
be affected by various elements such as rain, magnetic brakes rely completely on certain magnetic
properties and resistance. In fact, magnetic brakes never come in contact with the train.
Magnetic brakes are made up of one or two rows of neodymium magnets. When a metal fin (typically
copper or a copper/aluminum alloy) passes between the rows of magnets, eddy currents

Abstract
This paper attempts to establish the factors that affect sustainable women education in Nigeria. The
paper found out that non participation of women in education programmes was as a result of some
limiting factors and proffers solutions to such.
Introduction
It is not that there are no studies or recommendations on how to resolve women s educational
problems; it is rather than the recommendation for the provision of women education have usually
been unrealistic either because of wrong assumptions or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Women play constructive, complimentary and fundamental roles in the society. The education of
woman in the formal education exposes her to available information that could aid them in responsible
behaviour for effective and efficient motherhood. Education confers undoubted benefits on the
individuals and the society especially when it is appropriate to the goals and aspirations of the society.
Based on the above, Nyerere (1970) stated that education should be designed to meet the economic
and developmental circumstances of a nation. It is in realisation of the above that women need to
participate in the socio economic development of any nation which is in consonant with the United
Nations advocacy which led to pronouncement of a decade for women (1975 1985).
According to the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 3010: XXVII, the decade was aimed at
addressing issues relating to the educational advancement of women with the over riding goals being
that of developing their potentials, contribute to and benefit from development (United Nations,
1985). The United Nations in a publication titled The
Nairobi Forward Looking: Strategies for the Advancement of Women , published in 1985 provided a
framework for renewal commitment by member states to the advancement of women in education

The s Theory Of Scapegoating
Currently, Black Lives Matter victims are struggling with the loss of children, relatives, and close
friends due to an illogical order in society. The guilty are set free, while the innocent are accused of
putting themselves in unfriendly situations, therefore making them a byproduct of their demise. In
order to completely understand how innocent people are being killed and murderers are getting away
free, I uncovered the truth behind scapegoating. This unfair societal issue is a problem, nonetheless, a
careless standard of pledging guilt on the ones who are rightfully innocent. In my essay I argue, by
utilizing Burke s theory of scapegoating in the Tamir Rice shooting, I understand how law and society
constructs who receives guilt and who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A scapegoat must have two qualities. First, it must be anecdotal; meaning it must be representative of
certain unwanted evils. Burke describes these unwanted evils as guilt from historical and cultural
identifications. In my understanding, historical and cultural identifications can be seen in modern day
situations such as Tamir s. These identifications are the negative associations which African American
stereotypes have created throughout time. An article written by Kenneth W. Goings in February 1990,
states the idea of these stereotypes, saying, These objects produced from the late 17th century to the
present, have been almost universally derogatory, with exaggerated racial features that helped prove
that African Americans were different and inferior. (Goings, Kenneth.) Historical and culturally, these
stereotypes say things such as African Americans look suspicious based of apparel, facial expressions,
or physical intimidation therefore making it reasonable for officers to become suspicious. These
stereotypes and identification issues make the scapegoats guilt easily understood by society and law
courts that decide cases such as Tamir Rice s. Burke s second point states that a scapegoat needs to be
powerful because it must be at least equal to the burden of guilt, so that the sacrifice destroys a vessel
strong enough to hold the transgression. Burke notes that the scapegoat must be worthy legalistically,

  • 4. The First Occasion When We See Elizabeth The film begins with a sort of a preface, with Elizabeth as a young lady cruising with her dad Representative Swann and her future fiancee Lt Norrington, and in addition future privateer Mr. Gibbs. Representative Swann isn t only the legislative leader of Port Regal, he s the legislative head of Elizabeth, an occupation we see him commit more opportunity to than any genuine administering. The first occasion when we see Elizabeth, she s singing about privateers. She s acutely keen on the subject, far over the level of legitimacy, to the extent her dad and Norrington are concerned. Elizabeth is by all accounts weak and inactive among these men, however in actuality she sets the plot into movement by locating youthful Will Turner, lost adrift, and after that taking his emblem once he s brought on board Norrington s ship. It s practically as if Elizabeth, with her enthusiasm for privateers, has summoned a young man privateer out of the fog by her own particular will. The emblem is, obviously, one of the 882 bits of reviled Aztec gold that serves as the maguffin of Revile and drives its whole plot. (Elizabeth sees the emblem and finishes up, erroneously, that Will is a privateer. There is a great deal of backstory in Revile, the most confounded of which is the narrative of Will s dad, Bootstrap Bill, and how the emblem made it around youthful Will s neck. This story is complicated to the point that I needed to sit and watch the motion picture various times before ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, The Hurricane does a masterful job at addressing this issue, and will leave audience members clenching their fists in anger at the injustice that happened to a man named Rubin Hurricane Carter. The movie demonstrates the racial inequity that can be found in our judicial system through the impressive acting by Denzel Washington and the direction of Norman Jewison. The Hurricane makes you wonder who else has been wrongfully accused in the past 30 years. At his weakest hour Rubin finds hope via these four newfound friends. Through the support of the Canadians along with the legal work of two volunteer lawyers they take Rubin s case to the New Jersey Supreme Court. After 20 years, of wrongful imprisonment, Rubin Hurricane Carter is restored. The film s powerful message comes alive through its main actor s magnificent performances and the anger and frustration that they evoke. In particular, Denzel Washington proved this throughout the film with his representation of Rubin Carter. He is known for films and works such as: Glory, The Pelican Brief, Philadelphia, Courage Under Fire, and a new must see release Remember the Titans. The Hurricane is no exception for his list of stellar performances. However, aside from Denzel Washington s stunning portrayal, the other actors are one sided and faceless. Vincent Della Pesca (Dan Hedaya) establishes himself throughout the film as an evil presence with an insane desire to put Rubin behind bars. His motivation is left to the imagination of the audience. • 8. Moon Phases Have you ever doubted what creates the moon phases? It is known that its appearance evolves over times. But why? The best method to understand the phases of the moon is to scrutinize the aspects of astronomy. First of all, we need to wipe out the most commonly held misconception about the moon s phases. The typical reason given for the cause of the moon phases is that we are observing the shadow of the Earth on the Moon! But it s not true. When the Moon goes through the shadow of the Earth, we obtain a lunar eclipse. The reality is that the moon crosses through the Earth s shadow only occasionally, so that can t be the reason of moon s phases. The actual reason for the moon s phases focuses on two prime aspects: the moon has a round shape ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This phase is known as full moon because it becomes fully illuminated by the sunlight. This is the one and only period in an entire month when the Earth s shadow is anywhere next to the moon. The shadow of the Earth directly points towards the moon at this time. But the moon moves above or below the shade and no eclipse generates. After one week, the moon has crossed another quarter of the path around the Earth. It remains in the third quarter position at that time. And the sunlight directly falls on the other fraction of the visible part of the moon. Finally, after a week, the moon returns to the starting position, known as the new moon . Generally, it moves above or below the sun, but it rarely arrives right in front of the sun, and we have an eclipse of the sun. So, it is prominent that the moon s phases are not produced by the shadow of the earth falling on the moon. Actually, the shade of the Earth falls on the moon only for two times, when there are lunar eclipses in a year. There are apparently thousands of websites that reveal what creates the moon s phases. If you want to know more about the changes of the moon s phases, you should definitely check out several moon software ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pollitt views what social conservatives (530) have to say about marriage, and how their belief that marriage is all about procreation isn t persuasive to those outside of the right wing think tank, Catholic marriage tribunal, or ultra Orthodox rabbi court. (Pollitt 530). Pollitt tells her readers to scratch procreation and then examines the theory that, marriage is the way women domesticate men. INTRODUCTION TO CIVIL AVIATION Lucas Lee Executive Summary The current global economic crisis has changed the way aviation industry goes about its business. It has brought about a boom in low cost carriers, which has made travelling by air cheaper for the masses. Services offered by airlines and airports are also of higher standards to make people want to travel by air. The economic downturn has seen a significant drop of investments in the aviation market. Airport ground handlers and airplane part manufacturers have also had to retrench their workers in order to counterbalance the poor market. The amount of air traffic is likely to decrease as well, as people are travelling lesser and choosing cheaper alternatives. People ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pratt amp; Whitney, an engine manufacturer for planes, is set to cut 200 jobs in an attempt to counterbalance the poor market. The big players like Boeing and Airbus may face such problems in the future even though large amount of orders for the B787 and A380 have been placed. They may have to come up with better variants in order to keep up their sales. There would also be a change in the volume of air traffic. The previously busy air traffic may die down due to the fact that people are travelling lesser. People would also want to travel cheaper. Hence, instead of taking planes they would choose cheaper means of transportation like trains, ships and coaches. With the decrease in amount of flights, ground handlers may have lesser things to do and they may face retrenchment. Product sales in the airport shops may drop as well since there are lesser people visiting the airport. Airports may not be earning as much as before and terminals may eventually be closed to sustain the financial situation. The face of aviation would have to change in order to sustain the current situation, and the fact that the economy downturn has already started to show it s effects, the industry has to evolve and remain relevant to suit the needs of people, and in time to come I believe that aviation would be forced to become cheaper in order to recover from the current economic crisis. The people of the Paleolithic Era were hunter gatherers who moved constantly in search of animals to hunt and plants to gather. The Paleolithic people preferred to live off of the resources that existed in abundance in a given region, rather than producing resources for themselves. This is what Hindu people who follow their cultural traditions have to deal with. The food practice that I am discussing is the avoidance of eating cattle in Hinduism. I will specifically focus on moral issues regarding killing and eating cattle in the religion as compared to other moral religious codes. In Western society most cultures don t see a moral issue when eating beef. I know my family eats beef at least twice a week so I was always surrounded by the meat product. The reason I chose to write about why Hindus don t eat cattle is because my roommate is Hindu and follows this cultural practice. I respect his ways and don t judge him for not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite popular belief cattle are not worshipped in Hinduism, but rather held in high esteem. There are a couple different historic reasons why Hindus don t eat cow. The first being that during the development of the religion cattle were extremely expensive to slaughter as they produced a lot of other food and work and were more valuable left alive. It was financially impractical for early Hindus to eat cattle. Additionally, cattle were seen as the appropriate gift for Brahmins who were the high priests of Hinduism at the time. It eventually came to be seen that killing some cattle was almost equivalent to insulting a Brahmin in their culture, meaning that there was a strong taboo against Lastly, the development and subsequent spread of Jainism in the region, which expressively forbids harming any type of animal, may have influenced early Hindus not to eat cattle. Many rural Hindu families own a dairy cow which greatly assists them in their way of life. Due to the value of life placed on cattle in Hinduism there is a moral concern regarding killing the animal. One that is not commonly held in Western religions in our lives today. First off, The Pittsburgh Post bring s up, Statements can be complicated to document due to many police organizations fail to videotape interrogations (Moushey). This example describes that many police agencies fail to record the interrogations that they are involved in which causes the cases to be unsolved for many years. To continue, New York Times claims, Police use a variation of techniques to receive a certain disclosure, but the techniques used can be hard for the jury to comprehend (Dolan). This confirmation proves that the techniques used to reveal evidence can not be understood by the court, therefore, recordings during interrogations are avoided. Moving on, New York Times explains, Legal authorities claim that the best way to make sure confessions are truthful is to require detectives to document and record interrogations (Dolan). This quote verifies that it should be essential for detectives and police to videotape questioning because they may be tricking victims into confessing. Finally, New York Times mentions, Tape recording could prevent police from doing remarkable techniques and prevent false convictions (Dolan). He had even installed real glass panels in the window frames. They cost a pretty penny, and yet absolutely essential in this harsh and extreme climate up here in the mountains. Flat land was not common at such an altitude. The soil was rich from ancient volcanic activity in the area. Crops grew well, usually despite the terrain. International Trade of Developing Countries International trade of developing countries is the classic weak vs. strong dichotomy, and underdeveloped or developing countries cannot make it solely on their own efforts; the have nots need help from the haves. Developed nations trumpet the claim that the answer to developing nations international trade issues is untrammeled or open market activity as opposed to government intervention by developed nations governments. This is both appropriate and important: from the Uruguay Round to the Doha Round, coalitions have facilitated the gains (and, at times, the losses) made by the weak against the strong. (Singh, 2006, p. 499). Regional agreements and export import aid by developed nations to developing nations have provided some relief through the U.S. Export Import Bank (Ex Im Bank), the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and the European Union/Common Market, among others (Carbaugh, 2013). Import Substitution and Export led Growth The two key approaches by developing nations to implement their own trade policies are import substitution and export led growth. Import substitution strategy is inward oriented: trade and industrial incentives favor the domestic market over the export market of developing nations, a strategy utilized extensively in Latin America by Argentine, Brazil, and Mexico (Carbaugh, 2013, p. 247). Scott Fitzgerald s allusive novel, The Great Gatsby, the American dream proves to be unattainable. In the novel, the green light represents Gatsby s fiery desire to own Daisy and the valley of ashes represents the turmoil faced by the working class in order to achieve the American dream. Fitzgerald effectively uses the glowing green light at the end of the Buchanan s dock and the desolate wasteland that is the valley of ashes as symbols, in order to shape and reinforce the theme of the impossible pursuit of the American dream. Throughout the novel, there are numerous mentions of the glowing green light and its symbolic representation of hope. Located at the end of the Buchanan s dock, Gatsby associates this light with Daisy and his dream of having her all to himself. At night, Gatsby stands on his blue lawn and looks out towards the green light, reaching up as if he is trying to grasp it but of course, the distance is preventing him to do so. • 23. Farenheit 451- Lit By Ray Bradbury Fahrenheit 451 Lit. Critique The title of the book I read was Fahrenheit 451. The book was written by Ray Bradbury and was published in 1951. This book is about a dystopian America where there is extreme censorship and any media (mainly books) that questions the government is burned by a branch called the Firemen. The main character whose name is Guy Montag is a fireman who begins to realize that what he s doing is wrong after meeting a young girl named Clarisse. As the book goes on it is revealed that Montag had been stashing books in his vents for a long time and tried to show them to his wife, but she doesn t want anything to do with it. His wife Mildred towards the end of the book actually ends up reporting him to the Firemen, when she does this Montag is at work and shows up on the call to witness his wife get into a taxi and leave him. Then to throw salt in the wound the Fireman Captain Beatty forces Montag to burn his own house to the ground before being arrested for possession of illegal media, but after Montag burns the house he turns on Beatty burning him with the flamethrower and knocking out the other two firemen before fleeing. After having finished reading it I thought that this book was really good, it kept my attention the whole time and had a big surprise at the end. (The full ending is not included in the summary.) • 24. Short Run And Long Run Effects Short Run and Long Run Effects In the short run, both global demand and supply of oil are relatively inelastic because it is difficult for them to make large adjustments to price changes in a short period of time. When oil price rises, oil consumers, such as manufacturing firms and households, may not be able to reduce their demand for oil immediately. For example, individuals still need to drive to work and manufacturing firms with long term contracts still need to run machinery to meet target output. Similarly, an increase in oil price would not stimulate oil supply in the short run. Additional supply generally requires the exploration of new reserves and construction of new infrastructure for delivery which require substantial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Simultaneously, traditional manufacturing sectors would suffer from rising input costs and reduced competitiveness in the international market. The net effect would be a decrease in total real exports. Moreover, the reallocation of resources, labor and capital would occur in favor of oil industry. The extent of these long run effects would depend on the magnitude of initial price shock and the duration of price increases. Impacts of Rising Oil Prices on Canadian Output A significant increase in oil price would have little impact on Canadian overall output but large regional and sectoral implications. The oil producing provinces would benefit from rising income while the oil consuming ones would suffer due to the higher cost of living and production. This would also lead to reallocation of capital and labor across energy and other industries. Potential impacts are expected to be more pronounced in the long run than in the short run because of relative inelasticity of oil demand and supply in the short run. Canada is the world s fifth largest oil producer, with daily production of more than 3.6 million barrels in 2015 (Statistics Canada). Despite large national production, Canada only produces about 5% of world s total daily production and thus does not have large influencing power on the international oil price. A Brief Look Into The Evolution Of The From Atomic Theory A Brief Look into the Evolution of DFT from Atomic Theory Quantum Theory The idea of atom existed as early as the Greek and Indian civilizations but more as a philosophical thought rather than a well defined theory based on empirical evidence. Atom was assumed as something that is indestructible and the smallest component that makes up matter. It took almost 2000 years for the development of modern day atomic theory with proof for the existence of atoms and further subatomic particles. The archaeological classification of human history as stone age, bronze age and iron age better depicts the evolution of macroscopic chemistry first. In 1923 De Broglie described the movement of electrons as a wave with an associated wavelength (λ) related as λ = h/p, where p is the momentum and h is Planck s constant. This hypothesis was confirmed in experiments and Stern later generalized this behavior to all microscopic particles. The contradictory nature of wave particle duality, the concept of a non localized wave versus a localized particle, posed a problem in simultaneous description of position and momentum which was theorized by Heisenberg in his uncertainty principle. This necessitated a new theory to describe the non deterministic nature of atomic particles. Erwin Schrodinger in 1926 postulated the concept of a wave function Ψ(x, t), the state of a system which is a function of particle coordinates, and its change with time. Max Born dissected wave function and presented |Ψ(x, t)2|dx as the probability of finding a particle at time t in the region between x and x+dx. Born along with Oppenheimer later proposed a modification to the wave function separating the nuclear motion from electron motion due to the large difference in masses. Time independent, non relativistic Schrodinger equation is an eigen value problem and the solution to the Schrodinger s Equation gives us the wave function. For atoms of higher atomic number, it becomes cumbersome to solve this equation, how it is handled we will discuss shortly. The city of Jerusalem can be considered a major centre to Christianity because it is the location of Jesus s travels and it is also where he was killed, resurrected and ascended into heaven. It is also to location of where many of Jesus s miracles were performed. This is shown through the quote During Passover in the third year of his public life, Jesus entered Jerusalem and was welcomed by the crowds who rushed to meet him with palm branches. However, religious authorities were planning his arrest. (DesRivieres 225)This quote shows us that Jesus was a very important figure for Christianity as he was greeted by many people. It also proves that the location of Jesus s death and resurrection would be in the area around Jerusalem as it was where he was arrested for blasphemy. All this means that Jerusalem is a major centre for Christianity as many major events surrounding the life of Jesus occurred. Another way Jerusalem is a major city for Christianity is because it is where the religion itself came from and how it spread from that with The Pentecost. The Pentecost was a major event that caused the followers of Jesus to gain the ability to speak different languages in order to spread Christianity to different countries. (Zavada) An article also says Pentecost, a Jewish feast, was celebrated 50 days after Passover, and pilgrims had come to Jerusalem from all over the world to celebrate the event. The 12 apostles were gathered together in a house when a terrific wind came from heaven and filled the place. They saw tongues that looked like fire that separated and came down on each of them. This means that Jerusalem is an important religious centre in Christianity because it originated from there. These reasons are why Jerusalem is also a major religious centre to ... It speaks only to the nature of the cost accounting system that we, as students of accounting, think to be appropriate for addressing the issues presented by cases of this general type. We offer our views on this subject out of concern about the allocation of indirect costs used in assessing the appropriate gasoline cost value in State of Florida v. This system is often imprecise as it distributes costs on the basis of a single variable when there are typically several factors involved, particularly when there are multiple end products sold. To address this imprecision, we offer a refined costing system which reduces the use of generalized averages in the allocation of costs. In general, this is accomplished by first dividing the indirect costs into homogeneous pools so that we can more appropriately distribute them. Second, these cost pools are allocated on the basis of the driver of that cost segment which ensures that costs are more accurately tied to their source. Thus, a refined costing system is preferable as it ultimately delivers a more correct cause and effect relationship between costs and their sources. Although this system is preferable, it has some disadvantages. First, refined costing systems require more information about the nature of the costs involved, and often gathering this information results in additional costs for the firm. Second, even with a broad range of data available, some averaging and estimations are still necessary. So, without outside motivation, such as the MFMPA, small firms retain simple costing systems. The Oppression Of Motherhood When will you have a child? is a question often heard by women nearing a certain age, or upon achieving certain milestones in her life (such as marriage or after her 30th birthday). While it may be true that women are indeed the only ones with the ability to bear children, having a child is portrayed as a woman s right of passage. Individuals frequently overstep boundaries of privacy and inquire insensitively about a woman s personal plan for children, and the male glorifying society is to be blamed for this prying and expectation. Due to the fact that motherhood in general is largely linked to women s subordination to men, voluntary alternate decisions are subject to public criticism for violating the dominant norm. Some people would say that dismemberment and gore is needed to terrorise an audience, but this only shocks and disgusts viewers. Many horror films nowadays use similar techniques to those used by Spielberg in the film Jaws . At the beginning of the film Jaws , the shark s attacks are close by to the shore, which shows us that the shallow water cannot stop it from attacking people. But as the film persists, the shark attacks are out in the middle of the ocean and from the moment the characters leave the beach to go hunting, they are cut off from the rest of the characters. In November 1942, William Beveridge presented a report called, Social Insurance and Allied Services to parliament. This was a summary of principles to improve upon the existing welfare benefits system, to benefit working people and the population. The document proposed a new system to be operated by one governing agency, called Social Security. This would be put in place by the state after World War 2 had ended. The new system also implemented classes to the National Insurance scheme, such as: Class I for employees: Class II for Employers, traders, self employed and any other independent workers: Class III Housewives (this has now been amended for all people of working age, who have had a break in employment, or earn too little for it to be recorded): Class IV Others of working age or not working (self employed). The Working Principle Of Eddy Current Brake Mechanism ABSTRACT This paper presentation explores the working principle of eddy current brake mechanism, which can be Analyzed by Maxwell 3D Transient solver. An eddy current brake, like a conventional friction brake, is Responsible for slowing an object, such as a train or a roller coaster etc. Unlike the friction brakes, which apply pressure on two separate objects, eddy current brakes slow an object by creating eddy currents through electromagnetic induction which create resistance, and in turn either heat or electricity. In this paper, linear Halfback magnetized mover is applied to eddy current braking system for high speed. For such a breaker, we give analytical formulas considering end effects for its magnetic field, eddy current distribution, forces according to the secondary relative permeability, and conductivity. The results given here are purely analytic applicable. I. Burke describes these unwanted evils as guilt from historical and cultural identifications. In my understanding, historical and cultural identifications can be seen in modern day situations such as Tamir s. These identifications are the negative associations which African American stereotypes have created throughout time. An article written by Kenneth W. Goings in February 1990, states the idea of these stereotypes, saying, These objects produced from the late 17th century to the present, have been almost universally derogatory, with exaggerated racial features that helped prove that African Americans were different and inferior. These stereotypes and identification issues make the scapegoats guilt easily understood by society and law courts that decide cases such as Tamir Rice s.
