Frame-Relay

Professor Jeffrey Robinson
August 20, 2013 Abstract
In this discussion we look at some of the history around frame relay. We then look at some of the
equipment necessary to create the frame relay connections, as well as how the connections work both
logically and physically. Some limiting factors are discussed as well as committed information rates,
burst rates, an error handling. Some of the positive aspects of frame relay are identified along with
some options for the future of WAN technologies.
Frame Relay
Operating at the physical and datalink layers of the OSI model, frame relay is a high performing WAN
protocol. It was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This allows frame relay to provide a low cost of ownership while adhering to standards and
internetworking with other services. A highly reliable WAN may be achieved through frame relay and
a good service level agreement (SLA) from the provider.
Frame relay can be thought of as a simple principle because it allows the higher level protocols to deal
with many of the problems. Although, it can include optional features such as congestion notification
and signaling mechanisms. Ideally, a committed information rate (CIR) is selected that best meets the
needs of the customer. This is the maximum burst rate, which when exceeded can cause the frames to
be discard eligible (DE). In reality, the nature of frame relay allows all bits to be discard eligible, but
the error correction is handled by the upper layers. Some configurations allow speeds to burst above
the CIR, but never more than the physical capacity of the circuit. The DLCI is the connection
identifier for the PVC in the connection oriented datalink protocol that is frame relay. By switching
variable length frames, statistical multiplexing is achieved. Even though frame relay may be
susceptible to traffic delays it can still be optimized for delay sensitive traffic such as voice over IP.
Because the frame relay path is known, it is used to connect the customer premises equipment (CPE)
to the frame relay switch. The LMI keep alive signaling happens

Comparing Elizabeth Bennet and Charlotte Lucas in Pride...
The intent of this essay is to compare and contrast the characters of Elizabeth Bennet and Charlotte
Lucas. The main points that will be compared and contrasted include the relative beauty, age and the
characters of Elizabeth Bennet and Charlotte Lucas. The similarities and differences in their families,
position in society and their wealth, their differing attitudes to marriage, and finally, who has the better
deal and why, will also be discussed. By the end of this essay, the reader will be able to discern the
differences and similarities in both Elizabeth and Charlotte.
The physical appearance of Elizabeth Bennet is quite often referred to as pretty by many people. The
first mentioning of her beauty is by Mr. Bingley , but she is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The families of Elizabeth and Charlotte play a very important part in their lives, and in the prospect of
their future companions. Elizabeth s family are more prone to exposing themselves and being
ridiculous , and it is partly down to her family that Mr. Darcy is so adamant on Mr. Bingley not
marrying her sister Jane. However, unlike her family, Elizabeth is socially graceful, sensitive and
conscious of her appearance in the eyes of others. This leads to her acute awareness of the social
failing of some members of her family, particularly her mother and youngest sister.
Elizabeth s father is more sensible than her mother and is described as so odd a mixture of quick arts,
sarcastic humour, reserve and caprice . Her mother however is not so difficult to work out, she is a
woman of mean understanding, little information and uncertain temper , and the business of her life is
to get her daughters married3. Charlotte s mother, Lady Lucas, is not much different from Mrs.
Bennet. She described as being a very good kind of woman4 , and like Mrs. Bennet she was also set
on getting her daughters married . Charlotte s father is Sir William Lucas, and he is a very pleasant
man known for his civil manners .
Another aspect of Elizabeth and Charlotte is their position in society, which is rather different and this
is partly down to their wealth. Elizabeth s wealth is greater than that of the Lucas family. Mrs. Bennet
often likes to point out that they

Shabbat Dinner Experience
I have grown up in a Jewish household where I had Shabbat Dinner every Friday evening and
celebrated the Jewish holidays with my family. My Grandfather is a Cantor in Sutton Place Synagogue
in New York City. As for me, I consider myself as a Conservative Jew. My Jewish identity shapes a
large part of who I am.
There are no religious needs or boundaries necessary for me.
I was introduced to the Muslim Jewish Interfaith Coalition though my trusted friend Rudy Rochman.
From my experience as a Jewish leader I have already witnessed the opportunities for Muslim Jewish
dialogue. The challenge that exist in Muslim Jewish dialogue also serve as an opportunity. When

Death Penalty Is Cruel And Unusual Punishment
The legal executions first started in California when it was under the Practices Act in 1851. Then in
February 14th 1872 it was put in the Penal Code. Capital punish in counties continued until an
amendment by the legislature in 1891 said that it could only happen in the State Prisons picked by the
court. The first state execution in California happens on March 3rd 1893 at San Quentin and the first
one in Folsom was on December 13th 1895. In the 1937 s the legislature decided that instead of
hanging people they were going to use lethal gas. This did not affect the people that were already
sentenced to be hanged and the last hanging was in December 3rd 1937 at Folsom and the last hanging
in Quentin was hold on May 1st 1942. Twenty five years after 1967 because of the United States
Supreme Court choices there were no executions. In 1962 the Supreme Court thought that death
penalty as cruel and unusual punishment. Because of this 107 people had their sentences changed to
something that was not death. In November 1972 nine months after they had this choice the California
electorate amended the state constitution overruled it. Then in 1973 the Supreme Court decided that
the death penalty was unconstitutional. The California legislation was passed in 1973, which meant
that the death penalty could only happen under certain conditions. These conditions were kidnapping
if the person dies, train wrecking if any person dies, assault by a life prisoner if the victim dies within

Hazardous Train Systems
Heavy rail systems in the United States, and around the world, face a number of hazards and
vulnerabilities. For example, the Movement of hazardous materials (HAZMAT) represents a potential
environmental or chemical hazard if an accident were to occur. The 2013 Lac Mégantic rail disaster
exemplify this hazard. Although the train rolled down a very slight (~1 2%) incline, the devastation
that followed was more representative of a bomb being dropped on the town rather than a rail
accident. This is, of course, an extreme instance, however, even the lesser hazards, for example
trespassing, can lead to disastrous consequences. One of the hazards faced by heavy rail systems is
there sheer size. Often consisting of several locomotives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many procedures are in place to address the dangers surrounding hazardous cargo. For example,
placarding rail cars to identify contents and requiring the train s crews to carry the Material Safety
Data Sheets (MSDS) assist first responders in identifying the material in the event of an accident. A
second concern security plans must address is theft of hazardous material when a train is parked. What
prevents someone from stealing or releasing chlorine gas when a train, like the one in Lac Megantic, is
left running and unattended? Terrorists learned how to fly passenger aircraft so it isn t beyond the
realm of possibility that they are learning how to operate freight trains. These are both serious security
concerns that must be address. Again, referencing the Lac Megantic accident, it appears the LE began
his duty day at 1355 and concluded it at 2330, just 25 minutes short of a 10 hour day. This may seem
insignificant, but when we consider that his duty day was primarily at night and he was operating the
train alone, these would be considered contributing, but not causal, factors resulting in the accident. In
this case, security planners might address this vulnerability by dictating that trains operated after
sunset have two crew members or limit the total duty day to 8

The Classification Of Elements Of The Periodic Table
The periodic table shows the classification of elements. It shows the elements atomic numbers,
masses, and symbols for each element. Elements are placed into rows and columns. The rows are
called periods, and the columns are called groups. These help classify where the elements go on the
periodic table. For example, the elements in the very last group on the periodic table are known as
inert and noble gases. The modern periodic table resulted from trial, error, and succession. As more
elements were discovered, the periodic table had to go through many changes to fit these newly
discovered elements. This led to the modern periodic table we have today. Back in EBC, there was
little if any science that was known. Although Gold (Au), Silver (Ag), Tin (Sn), Copper (Cu), Lead
(Pb), and Mercury (Hg) are used on the modern periodic table, these elements were known by people
for thousands of years. Aristotle, a philosopher, thought that the world was not just created out of
nowhere. It has to be created by something. Aristotle thought that roots created the Earth. Plato,
another philosopher, agreed with Aristotle. However, Plato called the roots elements instead. The term
element was originally associated with what created the Earth: Air, Earth, Water, and Fire. These
elements were used to explain what made up the Earth. People agreed with this idea for over a
thousand years, until modern elements were discovered starting in the 1600s (WOU). In 1649, there

Iodine Therapy Thyroidectomy
Iodine therapy is another option for treatment and is used in coordination with thyroidectomy to
completely ablate the thyroid gland and to postoperatively eradicate possible residual cancer (Nguyen,
et al., 2015). Iodine 131 has had a significant part in the treatment and of thyroid cancer since the mid
1940 s (Nguyen, et al., 2015). Iodine 131 works by entering the thyroid cells via the sodium iodide
transporters and emitting short wavelength beta rays, causing acute cell death (Nguyen, et al., 2015).
The use of Iodine 131 is done in two ways. When administered the first time after surgery, it is
referred to as ablation, whereas subsequent administrations for residual disease are referred to as
treatment (Nguyen, et al., 2015). Iodine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The patient had a history of thyroid cancer, hyperthyroidism and abnormal TSH levels. The
technologist used Iodine 123 and administered 288 uCi. The technologist used a low energy high
resolution collimator and increased the zoom because the hospital does not have a pinhole collimator.
The patient had a thyroidectomy done in 1985. The technologist was looking for any uptake or
nodules that may be present. We didn t expect to find much uptake because the patient had already had
the thyroidectomy. What was found was surprising. The patient had their thyroid gland grow back
over time especially the right lobe. According to an article in Clinical Endocrinology thyroid tissue
being present after a thyroidectomy is not that uncommon. The study from Clinical Endocrinology
showed thyroid tissue was present in about half the patients on SPECT/CT studies (Barber, Cherk,
Toplisst, Serpell, Yap, Bailey Klaff, 2014). There was more uptake on the right gland in this case
study. Normal scans have homogeneous uptake in the entire gland and don t have cold nodule s
present. Abnormal scans can have cold nodules and uptake that is not uniform throughout the gland.
The physician noted that even though this study had more uptake in the right lobe it was due to the
gland being thicker and more of the right gland had grown

Branched Chain Amino Acids Analysis
The Efficiency of Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs)
Nowadays, it seems like every new supplement is the greatest at building muscle, improving
performance or burning fat. With so many claims from name brand supplement companies, it can be
hard for individuals to weed out the good from the bad. In order to understand if a supplement is right
for you, you need to remember what the point of supplementation is.
Why do we need supplements?
The point of supplementation is to obtain a nutrient that your body is not receiving or not receiving
sufficient amounts through diet alone. In this article, we ll discuss whether BCAA s are something you
need to incorporate into your diet, or if you re just pissing away your money. Literally.
What are Branched Chain Amino Acids?
First off, let s review what Branched Chain Amino Acids are (BCAA s for short). BCAA s are a
combination of three specific amino acids that our bodies cannot produce. These amino acids; leucine,
isoleucine, and valine are found abundantly in animal products ... Show more content on

But as far us gym rats, we probably won t see any benefit. In terms of reducing muscle soreness,
BCAAs have been proven beneficial. But remember, these studies used just BCAA supplementation
alone. Most Whey protein shakes will contain these same levels of BCAAs, so additionally BCAA
supplementation may not be necessary. Lastly, those who have dietary restrictions from animal based
products could see the biggest impact from BCAA supplementation, as BCAAs are found scarce in the
plant based protein category.
At the end of the day, whenever you re looking into trying out a new supplement, do your homework.
Research peer reviewed articles and studies about the supplement, and compare the results with your
own training goals. Supplements like BCAAs can help, but the greatest supplement of all is the blood,
sweat and tears you put into your training

Helios Research Paper
Helios, the sun god, is mostly known for driving his four horse chariot across the sky, from the east to
west every day. Back in the day, there were greek gods and goddesses that had specific things they
controlled. Helios controlled the sun , because he was personified as the sun. Even though Helios
wasn t well known, he still has done many things to help other gods and goddesses. There are many
greek myths and poems, that prove that Helios has helped many people, and has made many
contributions to the greek world.
Helios was regarded as the inventor of the four horse chariot, a natural association given the belief that
the sun god drove such a vehicle daily across the sky. (Atsma) By Helios being the inventor of the

Helios had a herd of cattle that grazed on the island of Thrinacia, which is modern day Sicily. Helios
had seven herds of oxen and seven flocks of sheep. The cattle were handsome, wide browed, fat, and
curved horned. Helios s two daughters, Phaëthusa and Lampetië, were in charge of the cattle. One day
Eurylochus asked to go to the isle of Helios to prepare dinner, Odysseus agrees, but makes it clear that
the crew can t kill any cattle or sheep. Of course, Eurylochus tells the crew to capture and sacrifice the
best cattle they can find. The crew, being disobedient like always, listens to Eurylochus. After this
tragic disaster, Helios s daughters told Helios what happened, and he turned to Zeus. Zeus told Helios
that if Odysseus and his crew don t pay him full atonement that he will strike their ship with a lighting
bolt in the middle of the ocean. Odysseus men ate the cattle for six days, and on the seventh day they
set sail. After they set sail, Zeus struck their ship with a lighting bolt, and destroyed it. Odysseus
escaped and swam to Calypso s island, and he stayed there for seven years. This is the story of Helio s

Sleep Analysis Essay On Sleep
Sleep Analysis As we learned in lecture, sleep is an important component in improving a person s
overall health. Because sleep is vital for cognitive function and available time to spend sleeping is
limited for college students, like myself, it is advantageous to change sleeping behaviors to maximize
the benefits sleep can provide. After tracking my sleeping schedule for a week, I have noticed some
patterns and behavior that may be affecting the quality of sleep I am getting. Based on my sleep
journal, I could improve my sleep by cutting back on the amount of caffeine I intake and the time
spent on electronics before bed to try to reduce the amount of time needed for me to fall asleep. I
tracked my sleep for one week early on in the semester when I was less busy and able to get more
sleep, however the overall patterns in how I felt when waking up and trouble falling asleep have
remained mostly the same. In this particular week, I got an average of about nine hours of sleep per
weeknight. The recommended amount of sleep per night is between eight to nine hours (Teague 77). I
would say I need at least eight full hours of sleep a night to feel like I am well rested. I did not occur a
sleep debt during this week, however I have experienced weeks were I did accumulate a sleep debt.
When this occurs, I usually try to make up for it by sleeping in on the weekends rather than napping. I
have found that taking naps isn t an effective way for me to reduce my sleep debt because I

Most schools in economically disadvantaged areas in the United States suffer from teachers who are
underprepared and too often work in schools with poor working decisions, and low pay. The
experienced teachers that these schools have tend to leave and the good teachers will do their best to
avoid them. Most educators in poor areas are not as likely to have the same qualifications and skills as
the teachers that are in advantaged areas. Most of the time teachers at low income schools are there in
order to gain some experience so they can later on become more desirable by high performing schools.
There are many inequalities amongst students, there are students in advantaged areas having twice as
much spent on them as disadvantaged students. If you take a look at some inner city schools such as
the ones in Chicago or New York, you would see that most of those schools have teachers not suited
for their position along with overcrowded classrooms, damaged buildings, torn up textbooks. The
purpose of the federal program No child left behind was to make sure that poverty stricken areas are
funded. New York City used to hire teachers that had failed their licensure exam multiple times. As a
result of attending inadequate schools, many students do very poorly when compared to the more
advantaged students.
Much like banks schools are redlining. Redlining is where a red line is drawn along

The Sabbath Of The Jewish Holidays
When people think of holidays they would think Christmas or Thanksgiving. But with the Jewish
religion they celebrate the holidays a little bit different than most people. With the Jewish cultural they
celebrate Shabbat, Passover, You Kippur, Sukkot, and Hanukkah.
The Shabbat is considered the most important of all Jewish holidays. It is the day of rest and weekly
observance of God s completion of creation. Shabbat starts on a Friday night an hour before sunset, it
lasts for 25 hours until sunset on Saturday night. This holiday is one of the way the Jewish people
connect with Yahweh because these people will make some of the tuitional meal that comes with this
holiday. Also, they will make the setting special because they are celebrating their god and what to
make it wonderful. In the book God in search of man there was a quote that said Perhaps Sabbath is
the idea that expresses what is most characteristic of Judaism. What is the Sabbath? A reminder of
every man s royalty; and abolition of the distinction of master and slave, rich and poor, success and
failure. To celebrate the Sabbath is to experience one s ultimate independence of civilization and
society, of achievement and anxiety. The Sabbath is an embodiment of the belief that all men are equal
and that equality of men means the nobility of men. (pg.417) The author is showing that the men of
the household it leading their family and that is holiday can become a family tradition.

The new findings help better understand the cardiac development and effect on clinical care for
patients with CHD. In general, cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a complex disease; no one single gene
mutation is responsible for it. Therefore a new genome wide association study (GWAS) was launched
to investigate a wide range of genes that is associated with the CVD.
Genome Wide associated Study is a study involving hundreds of thousands of single nucleotide
polymorphisms (SNPs) to be examined in relation to diseases in hundreds of thousands of subjects.
GWAS studies compare the DNA of various subjects having different phenotypes of a specific disease,
to the control subjects in order to identify the genome associated with the disease. Another way to run
GWAS studies is by collecting thousands of hundreds of DNA samples. Using SNPs arrays genetic
variants are read, if one variant has a higher frequency in subjects with a specific disease, which
reveals that this genetic variant is linked to the disease.

myocardial infraction and other CVD phenotype (O Donnell Nabel, 2011; Schnabel, Baccarelli, Lin,

The Impressions Of Timothy Treadwell s Grizzly Man
Imagine voluntarily getting into a cage with wild Grizzly Bears, and having nothing to defend
yourself. This is what Timothy Treadwell did, except he upped the ante and chose to live alongside the
Grizzly Bears of Katmai National Park in Alaska. The last 13 years of Treadwell s life, he spent the
summer months living with the bears. Grizzly Man is a film that was created by Werner Herzog. The
film show contains content that Treadwell filmed himself, as well as portions filmed after his death,
that have Werner interacting with people who knew Timothy very well. I believe that this film is very
well put together and does a great job of showing Treadwell s interactions with the bears, with
minimal input from the narrator. I enjoy this part of the film because it allows you to form your own
opinion of Treadwell and see what he thinks is best for himself and the bears. In this paper, I will be
touching on how Treadwell s actions throughout the film relate to writings done by; Michael Nelson,
J. Baird Callicott, and Reed Noss. Some of Nelson s wilderness preservation arguments fit right
alongside what Treadwell is doing on his expeditions. Calllicot and Noss focus on wilderness
alternatives and the impact that humans have on the environment. My first impressions of Timothy
Treadwell were that there is no possible way this man has become one of the bears and spends most of
his time right next to them. He looked weak to me and someone who could easily be dispatched of.

In Emergence, Steven Johnson argues that small scale interactions give way to global behaviors first
examining ant colonies, and thereafter analyzing human cells, virtual cities, and real cities. Economic
models from the 1990s show that, in the absence of confounding variables, businesses will naturally
self organize into evenly spaces clusters. I wonder how physical features like lakes, forests, and
mountains impact these models. I also wonder how the organizational structure of a city (grid like
versus radial) impacts the locational decisions of businesses.

The Human Genome Project Is Important To Society
Mapping the human genome has been compared with putting a man on the moon, but I believe it is
more than that. This is the outstanding achievement not only of our lifetime, but in terms of human
history. A few months ago I compared the project to the invention of the wheel. On reflection, it is
more than that. I can well imagine technology making the wheel obsolete. But this code is the essence
of mankind, and as long as humans exists, this code is going to be important and will be used (
Thomas Michael Dexter). The Human Genome Project is an international collaborative journey of

technologies emanating from the Human Genome Project to further understanding of genetic

scientists to better understand the use of gene therapy for humans. Genetics is now playing an
important role in curing, monitoring, and diagnosing diseases that can make someone very sick. With
gene therapy it can save lives and help cure the world of its deadly diseases. Genetics Home

The Positive And Negative Effects Of Technology In The World
While thinking about technology created by mankind, look at carbon dioxide gases produced by
burning fossil fuels, resulting in the greenhouse effect. The power of the atom for nuclear power plants
or the power of the atomic bomb. The use of Freon used in cooling systems for refrigeration to
preserve food has caused holes in the ozone. Technology used today has provided people the
advantage of having more leisurely time. Having gained time, we can choose to use it in productive or
self destructive ways.
In today s world, while interacting with technology through social media, apps, e mail, web chat
rooms, texting on cell phones, etc. these are used for communicating with people far away. It is the
main way people now like to communicate, this affects our social and emotional lives in many ways.
While this lacks the social interaction with people face to face. It is easier to tell someone no when
you don t have to look at them directly. It is even easier to say no by texting, then you don t have to
use your voice to communicate with them. The electronic media of broadcasters of both television and
radio have been the main sources of news for years. Now information is shared quickly and more
easily through the web. In today s technological world there are positive and negative effects.
Depending on how responsible we use the tools to communicate because we can choose to use them in
a productive or self destructive way.

Addie Bundren in Faulker s As I Lay Dying Essay

Addie Bundren in Faulkner s As I Lay Dying
Addie Bundren is the mother of the Bundren family, the main subjects of William Faulkner s novel As
I Lay Dying. The novel is centered on her death and burial as her family travels to bury her with her
family in Jefferson. Throughout the novel, the reader gets an understanding of who Addie Bundren is,
but only through other characters memories and perceptions of her; excluding the chapter where Addie
speaks for herself where she gives the reader a true account of her thoughts and feelings about the
world and her family.
Reading Addie s section of the novel, the reader discovers several innermost thoughts and secrets the

He meant nothing. She gives him children because she knows that is her duty as a wife, but she states
she never asked for them (Faulkner 174).
Addie is also disconnected from her children. They are a part of Anse and they violate her aloneness.
When she gives birth to their first son, Cash, she expresses that living is terrible and this [motherhood]
was the answer to it (Faulkner 170). She expresses a desire to kill Anse when she discovers she is
pregnant with their second child, Darl (Faulkner 172). She gives birth to Dewey Dell, to give Anse a
legitimate child after having Jewel, her love child from another man and then Vardaman. Giving him
children, she says And then I could get ready to die (Faulkner 176). The children, just as Anse, she
feels obligated too because it is expected. She never expresses a want for her husband or her children.
Addie is trapped in her life, simply going through the motions until she reaches her death.
The only child she feels emotion for is Jewel. He is not Anse s child, but a love child she has from an
affair with Reverend Whitfield. Jewel is not born out of an obligation to Anse, but from a moment of
passion that Addie does not feel with her husband. This is why she treats him better than her other
children. She calls Jewel her salvation and her cross (Faulkner 168), saying he is both her reward and
her punishment. Jewel does not belong to Anse, meaning that

The Death Penalty Should Be Legal Essay
Throughout the United States an argumentative topic is the death penalty should it be legalized across
the 50 states or be declared unconstitutional? Some believe the death penalty is a better option for
those who deserve the highest form of punishment available. However, others argue capital
punishment is a waste of resources and should be brought to an end. Therefore, while many believe
the death penalty should be legalized throughout the United States because it offers a higher form of
punishment, others believe the death penalty should be repealed because it causes unnecessary deaths.
Many believe the death penalty has recently been discovered; although, it originated in the B.C. era.
For example, the earliest forms of government had introduced the death penalty for those who had
committed large offences. One researcher writes, Death Penalty laws can be traced back as far as the
18th century B.C. when the Code of King Hammurabi established death as the penalty for 25 different
crimes ( Capital Punishment Timeline ). He claims the death penalty started before anyone would have
thought; it had been used during the B.C. era. Hammurabi used this as the highest punishment for the
most offensive crimes one could commit. Hammurabi had first developed the idea of an eye for an
eye, meaning if one commits a horrific crime then the same horrific crime shall be done to him.
Although it began in B.C. era, criminal punishment is still used today. Some of the most

Religion And Its Impact On Society
Even before there were millions of copies of bibles in circulation religion has been a part of society
that has always been there. But is this idea of rules and regulations enforced by a belief system really
helpful to society? In a world without religion would there be less wars, hatred, and discrimination?
With so many people involved or affiliated with religion it is important to explore deeper into the
negative impact that religion has on society and try to make the world a better place with information
that will help all. At a personal level religion fulfills the role of accounting for a lack of knowledge
and offering hope in the face of difficulties while also offering a sense of belonging. To identify with a
religious ideology, and call it the only truth and way, leads to the tremendously negative consequences
of hatred, racism, and all kinds of violence. These consequences of a world in disarray due to religion
far outweigh the small personal fulfillments. As Steven Weinberg, an American physicist and Nobel
laureate states, With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil
people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion. Although religion
claims to lead people towards truth, light, and happiness, in reality it actually leads them in the
opposite direction.
The most popular argument against religion in society is the fact that religion leads to war and
violence which then in turn results in poverty,

Characters in Raisin in the Sun The characters in Lorraine Hansberry^s play are very significant in

Africa becomes a symbol of heritage and a troublesome but hopeful future (Cheney 56). With the help

voice and the songs he sang. Hansberry learned from him ^...the way that most blacks lived, and the

Evolution vs. Creation Science
Adam Clayton Powell Jr. once stated, There is no future for a people who deny their past (Applewhite,
Evans, III, and Frothingham 474). This statement has rung true for the world for centuries; the
majority of individuals cannot fathom the concept of discovering how mankind came to be through
scientific nature. By denying this truth, the world will not be able to develop. Evolution is verifiable in
comparison to creation science because of the theories, evidence, and the increasing acceptance in
today s society. In order to discuss the irrefutable nature of evolution, one must be able to fully grasp
the history of this groundbreaking knowledge. Evolution is often described as a change that has
occurred over an extended period of time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One form of evidence is known as the fossil record; this is the documentation of one species that has
transitioned into another form. A prime example of the fossil record is the evolution of birds. These
flying creatures are often considered direct descendants of dinosaurs; Thomas Henry Huxley
constructed this notion in the 1860s. Evidence of this theory came about in 1861 when the first,
complete skeleton was discovered; the skeleton was of the Archaeopteryx lithographica. There was no
mistaking that Archaeopteryx lithographica was a dinosaur because of features it adorned, including a
bony tail, teeth, and claws on the wings. The troubling detail of this ancient creature was a new feature
that had been discovered: feathers. This ignited the on going search for dinosaurian skeletons,
providing clear evidence in support of Darwin s theory. In addition, direct observation has provided an
enormous amount of evidence to prove a major component of Darwin s theory of evolution: natural
selection. The first piece of evidence is the infamous peppered moths. The peppered moths are also
known as Biston betularia; they are commonly found in Britain. The moths often fly during the night
but they rest on trees during the day; this is a clever way to camouflage themselves from predators.
There are two very common types of these moths: the typicall and carbonaria. The typicall can be
described as a pale, speckled moth that is hidden

Smoke Bomb In The Culling
Smoke bomb is a projectile in The Culling. It breaks on effect, making a large cloud of smoke and

opponent and backstabbing him. It is make with only a rock at a gas tank, and can be used to create

The first bomb were invented in China in the 13th century. The Chinese initially started using
gunpowder in hand held grenades and created smoke bombs. One of these bombs, the thunderbolt
ball, had black powder on the outside that detonated a bamboo center loaded with iron pieces. During

moderated by the baking soda so that the smoke bomb creates smoke for a longer period of time rather
than just burning out. During the combustion of the smoke bomb, the sugar will be oxidized to carbon

potassium will end up as potassium carbonate (the carbon coming from the CO2 from the sugar).

Adenoid cystic carcinoma comprises about 10% of salivary gland malignancies. Most of them arise in
minor salivary glands. It is known for its late presentation, perineural invasion and local recurrence.
Adenoid cystic carcinoma of base tongue is very rare. We report a rare case of adenoid cystic
carcinoma of base tongue in a female who presented as globus pharyngeus.
Introduction
Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) is a malignant tumor presenting 1 2% of all head and neck tumours.
They generally present as slow growing masses. The tumour has marked propensity for neural
invasion. In oral cavity, palate is the most common site followed by tongue. The most common site of
distant metastasis is lungs. The treatment of choice is surgery followed by radiotherapy. We report a
rare case of ACC of base tongue in a 50 yr old female managed by surgery and radiotherapy.

International Adoption Essay example
International Adoption
When a mission team from south Florida arrived in Camp Haitia, they saw what to them was the most
poverty stricken land on earth. Some of the men were literally ill at the sight of the filth in the rivers,
on the land, and covering the children. Because Haiti is one of the poorest nations in the world,
families do not even have enough to provide for their children, and many of them are left to fend for
themselves. The mission team witnessed them bathing in polluted waters and scrounging for non
existent food. I asked one member of this mission team if adoption was a possibility for any of these
kids. His response was enthusiastic and emotional. I witnessed first hand for months his diligent
efforts to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Still another reason why fewer children are available for adoption is the legalization of abortion.
While these are not all necessarily negative reasons, they still are a discouragement to families
desiring a child. Because there are so few children placed for adoption, the current waiting list is seven
years or more (Fulton 2). International adoptions, however, can take as little as four months (Jeffreys
9), and at most one year (Fulton 2). Also, the adoption process itself is much simpler when dealing
internationally. There are fewer restrictive eligibility requirements consisting of a home study by a
social worker, police records clearing the perspective parents of past wrong doing, financial
statements, a marriage certificate, proof of citizenship, medical histories, and reference letters (Fulton
3). The applicants may work through specific orphanages, adoption agencies, or their personal
attorney. International laws state that agencies must be non profit organizations/and may not operate
on the basis of region or creed (Hibbs 211). This extends the possibility of adoption to a greater
economical and sociological group.
Two reasons that there is such an abundance of homeless children in foreign countries are poverty and
overpopulation. For instance, because China houses nearly one forth of the worlds population, they
have set a one child per family law (Fulton 3). This forces the

The Culture Of The Mexican Culture
How many different types of cultures are there? Here s the answer there are many cultures. My story
starts like this; both of my parents are from Guadalajara well most of my family is from that part of
México. Being part of the Mexican culture is very different from other cultures, but every culture is
unique of its own way. Many Mexican people have preserved and still do many of their ancestors
traditions. Tradition plays a big role in my family for example: the food we eat, the music we listen to,
what we dance to and what we celebrate to. I wanted a sweet sixteen but of course being Mexican my
parents said no. Being in the Mexican culture tradition is that when you turn 15 you re supposed to
have a Quinceanera it symbolizes that you are no longer a kid but you are now a young women. Many
people think a Quinceanera is just a party but the real tradition is to have a church mass. Since I am
catholic that consists of me going to church and thanking God. Social behaviors impact your life in
many ways. You have roles and rules in your cultures. When you re with your friends you act a
different way. When it has to do with family or church groups you have a role and rules and your
behavior is different. Women and Males have different rules and roles. Mother is supposed to stay
home and Father is supposed to work to help his family. Women are not supposed to do yard work
their job is inside. That has changed with the year s most

Leading Community Businesses And Governments Admit...
Introduction Leading community businesses and governments admit Corporate Social Responsibility
(CSR) as an official policy objective. Those companies who apply CSR are able to maintain
sustainable progress. This development covers social, economic and environmental influence in how
they run (Clegg, 2011, p. 216). Three areas are the bases of the triple bottom line (TBL) approach
(Elkington, 1994). CSR itself has various meaning but in more simple way it can be defined as firms
obligation to act ethically and to facilitate elaboration. Thereby they try to make employees life better
and likewise help to demonstrate a positive impact on local society. Therefore businesses are
responsible for two factors of how they operate. Firstly, they should be concerned about the quality of
management including people and operations. Secondly, they have to consider the character and
amount of their effect on community in different fields. External stakeholders take a huge concern on
how an organisation acts whether they perform well in their products, services, and society or not.
Moreover they take an interest in how they care towards the workforce (Baker, 2004). The following
paper demonstrates the major reasons of why businesses should take CSR seriously and what
advantages does CSR have when they use it. First aspect will be related to reputation and brand image.
Then it will be followed by strategy of cost reduction. Third aspect will explain the approaches to gain

Humans In The Iliad
The Iliad, chronicling the deeds of great legends from the past who helped form a society. As such the
epic stands it made a connection between history and literature. In classical literature, the Greeks
developed a complex system filled with gods, goddesses, demigods, and mythological creatures. The
Greek gods share the same vices as humans, proving themselves to be as fallible as mortals are. For
example, the gods often argue with each other. Like the one happened in book one where Zeus and
Hera had a conflict about him making decisions. However, there are several factors that makes the
quality of human life different in divine life in book one of the Iliad. First, they are different when it

Also more customers will be coming to the shop if the staff is kind and helpful to them, which will
increase the sales and therefore profit.
The human resources department monitors performance of the employees and makes sure they are
well trained for their job. They provide training for the staff, for each sector they work in, which will
help them to do their job more easily and successfully. If an employee doesn t do their job right, they
could fire them and recruit another person to fill their space. Also they make sure that they fill up
work for people on holiday or sick. This is to make sure that the work that needs to be done is not
affected by people being on holiday etc. Another thing that human resources in Marks and Spencer s
do, is that they make sure there is the required number of staff on each shop floor to keep the business
run smoothly and provide the right customer service. This has been successful because there is always
available staff to help on the shop floor, which means the customer service is improved therefore sales
increase because customers keep coming back to the store and this increases profit.
Technological Resources
Technological resources are the resources that help the business to function more efficiently and
quickly. However these are not as important for the business as the human resources.

  • 2. Frame-Relay . Unit 3 Kaplan University IT530 Professor Jeffrey Robinson August 20, 2013 Abstract In this discussion we look at some of the history around frame relay. We then look at some of the equipment necessary to create the frame relay connections, as well as how the connections work both logically and physically. Some limiting factors are discussed as well as committed information rates, burst rates, an error handling. Some of the positive aspects of frame relay are identified along with some options for the future of WAN technologies. Frame Relay Operating at the physical and datalink layers of the OSI model, frame relay is a high performing WAN protocol. It was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This allows frame relay to provide a low cost of ownership while adhering to standards and internetworking with other services. A highly reliable WAN may be achieved through frame relay and a good service level agreement (SLA) from the provider. Frame relay can be thought of as a simple principle because it allows the higher level protocols to deal with many of the problems. Although, it can include optional features such as congestion notification and signaling mechanisms. Ideally, a committed information rate (CIR) is selected that best meets the needs of the customer. This is the maximum burst rate, which when exceeded can cause the frames to be discard eligible (DE). In reality, the nature of frame relay allows all bits to be discard eligible, but the error correction is handled by the upper layers. Some configurations allow speeds to burst above the CIR, but never more than the physical capacity of the circuit. The DLCI is the connection identifier for the PVC in the connection oriented datalink protocol that is frame relay. By switching variable length frames, statistical multiplexing is achieved. Even though frame relay may be susceptible to traffic delays it can still be optimized for delay sensitive traffic such as voice over IP. Because the frame relay path is known, it is used to connect the customer premises equipment (CPE) to the frame relay switch. The LMI keep alive signaling happens ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Comparing Elizabeth Bennet and Charlotte Lucas in Pride... The intent of this essay is to compare and contrast the characters of Elizabeth Bennet and Charlotte Lucas. The main points that will be compared and contrasted include the relative beauty, age and the characters of Elizabeth Bennet and Charlotte Lucas. The similarities and differences in their families, position in society and their wealth, their differing attitudes to marriage, and finally, who has the better deal and why, will also be discussed. By the end of this essay, the reader will be able to discern the differences and similarities in both Elizabeth and Charlotte. The physical appearance of Elizabeth Bennet is quite often referred to as pretty by many people. The first mentioning of her beauty is by Mr. Bingley , but she is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The families of Elizabeth and Charlotte play a very important part in their lives, and in the prospect of their future companions. Elizabeth s family are more prone to exposing themselves and being ridiculous , and it is partly down to her family that Mr. Darcy is so adamant on Mr. Bingley not marrying her sister Jane. However, unlike her family, Elizabeth is socially graceful, sensitive and conscious of her appearance in the eyes of others. This leads to her acute awareness of the social failing of some members of her family, particularly her mother and youngest sister. Elizabeth s father is more sensible than her mother and is described as so odd a mixture of quick arts, sarcastic humour, reserve and caprice . Her mother however is not so difficult to work out, she is a woman of mean understanding, little information and uncertain temper , and the business of her life is to get her daughters married3. Charlotte s mother, Lady Lucas, is not much different from Mrs. Bennet. She described as being a very good kind of woman4 , and like Mrs. Bennet she was also set on getting her daughters married . Charlotte s father is Sir William Lucas, and he is a very pleasant man known for his civil manners . Another aspect of Elizabeth and Charlotte is their position in society, which is rather different and this is partly down to their wealth. Elizabeth s wealth is greater than that of the Lucas family. Mrs. Bennet often likes to point out that they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My Grandfather is a Cantor in Sutton Place Synagogue in New York City. As for me, I consider myself as a Conservative Jew. My Jewish identity shapes a large part of who I am. There are no religious needs or boundaries necessary for me. I was introduced to the Muslim Jewish Interfaith Coalition though my trusted friend Rudy Rochman. From my experience as a Jewish leader I have already witnessed the opportunities for Muslim Jewish dialogue. The challenge that exist in Muslim Jewish dialogue also serve as an opportunity. • 5. Death Penalty Is Cruel And Unusual Punishment The legal executions first started in California when it was under the Practices Act in 1851. Then in February 14th 1872 it was put in the Penal Code. Capital punish in counties continued until an amendment by the legislature in 1891 said that it could only happen in the State Prisons picked by the court. The first state execution in California happens on March 3rd 1893 at San Quentin and the first one in Folsom was on December 13th 1895. In the 1937 s the legislature decided that instead of hanging people they were going to use lethal gas. This did not affect the people that were already sentenced to be hanged and the last hanging was in December 3rd 1937 at Folsom and the last hanging in Quentin was hold on May 1st 1942. Twenty five years after 1967 because of the United States Supreme Court choices there were no executions. In 1962 the Supreme Court thought that death penalty as cruel and unusual punishment. Because of this 107 people had their sentences changed to something that was not death. In November 1972 nine months after they had this choice the California electorate amended the state constitution overruled it. Then in 1973 the Supreme Court decided that the death penalty was unconstitutional. The California legislation was passed in 1973, which meant that the death penalty could only happen under certain conditions. These conditions were kidnapping if the person dies, train wrecking if any person dies, assault by a life prisoner if the victim dies within a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Hazardous Train Systems Heavy rail systems in the United States, and around the world, face a number of hazards and vulnerabilities. For example, the Movement of hazardous materials (HAZMAT) represents a potential environmental or chemical hazard if an accident were to occur. The 2013 Lac Mégantic rail disaster exemplify this hazard. Although the train rolled down a very slight (~1 2%) incline, the devastation that followed was more representative of a bomb being dropped on the town rather than a rail accident. This is, of course, an extreme instance, however, even the lesser hazards, for example trespassing, can lead to disastrous consequences. One of the hazards faced by heavy rail systems is there sheer size. Often consisting of several locomotives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many procedures are in place to address the dangers surrounding hazardous cargo. For example, placarding rail cars to identify contents and requiring the train s crews to carry the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) assist first responders in identifying the material in the event of an accident. A second concern security plans must address is theft of hazardous material when a train is parked. What prevents someone from stealing or releasing chlorine gas when a train, like the one in Lac Megantic, is left running and unattended? Terrorists learned how to fly passenger aircraft so it isn t beyond the realm of possibility that they are learning how to operate freight trains. These are both serious security concerns that must be address. Again, referencing the Lac Megantic accident, it appears the LE began his duty day at 1355 and concluded it at 2330, just 25 minutes short of a 10 hour day. This may seem insignificant, but when we consider that his duty day was primarily at night and he was operating the train alone, these would be considered contributing, but not causal, factors resulting in the accident. In this case, security planners might address this vulnerability by dictating that trains operated after sunset have two crew members or limit the total duty day to 8 ... • 7. The Classification Of Elements Of The Periodic Table The periodic table shows the classification of elements. It shows the elements atomic numbers, masses, and symbols for each element. Elements are placed into rows and columns. The rows are called periods, and the columns are called groups. These help classify where the elements go on the periodic table. For example, the elements in the very last group on the periodic table are known as inert and noble gases. The modern periodic table resulted from trial, error, and succession. As more elements were discovered, the periodic table had to go through many changes to fit these newly discovered elements. This led to the modern periodic table we have today. Back in EBC, there was little if any science that was known. Although Gold (Au), Silver (Ag), Tin (Sn), Copper (Cu), Lead (Pb), and Mercury (Hg) are used on the modern periodic table, these elements were known by people for thousands of years. Aristotle, a philosopher, thought that the world was not just created out of nowhere. It has to be created by something. Aristotle thought that roots created the Earth. Plato, another philosopher, agreed with Aristotle. However, Plato called the roots elements instead. The term element was originally associated with what created the Earth: Air, Earth, Water, and Fire. These elements were used to explain what made up the Earth. People agreed with this idea for over a thousand years, until modern elements were discovered starting in the 1600s (WOU). In 1649, there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Iodine 131 has had a significant part in the treatment and of thyroid cancer since the mid 1940 s (Nguyen, et al., 2015). Iodine 131 works by entering the thyroid cells via the sodium iodide transporters and emitting short wavelength beta rays, causing acute cell death (Nguyen, et al., 2015). The use of Iodine 131 is done in two ways. When administered the first time after surgery, it is referred to as ablation, whereas subsequent administrations for residual disease are referred to as treatment (Nguyen, et al., 2015). Iodine ... The study from Clinical Endocrinology showed thyroid tissue was present in about half the patients on SPECT/CT studies (Barber, Cherk, Toplisst, Serpell, Yap, Bailey Klaff, 2014). There was more uptake on the right gland in this case study. Normal scans have homogeneous uptake in the entire gland and don t have cold nodule s present. Branched Chain Amino Acids Analysis The Efficiency of Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) Nowadays, it seems like every new supplement is the greatest at building muscle, improving performance or burning fat. With so many claims from name brand supplement companies, it can be hard for individuals to weed out the good from the bad. In order to understand if a supplement is right for you, you need to remember what the point of supplementation is. Why do we need supplements? The point of supplementation is to obtain a nutrient that your body is not receiving or not receiving sufficient amounts through diet alone. In this article, we ll discuss whether BCAA s are something you need to incorporate into your diet, or if you re just pissing away your money. Literally. What are Branched Chain Amino Acids? First off, let s review what Branched Chain Amino Acids are (BCAA s for short). BCAA s are a combination of three specific amino acids that our bodies cannot produce. Lastly, those who have dietary restrictions from animal based products could see the biggest impact from BCAA supplementation, as BCAAs are found scarce in the plant based protein category. At the end of the day, whenever you re looking into trying out a new supplement, do your homework. • 11. Sleep Analysis Essay On Sleep Sleep Analysis As we learned in lecture, sleep is an important component in improving a person s overall health. Because sleep is vital for cognitive function and available time to spend sleeping is limited for college students, like myself, it is advantageous to change sleeping behaviors to maximize the benefits sleep can provide. After tracking my sleeping schedule for a week, I have noticed some patterns and behavior that may be affecting the quality of sleep I am getting. Based on my sleep journal, I could improve my sleep by cutting back on the amount of caffeine I intake and the time spent on electronics before bed to try to reduce the amount of time needed for me to fall asleep. I tracked my sleep for one week early on in the semester when I was less busy and able to get more sleep, however the overall patterns in how I felt when waking up and trouble falling asleep have remained mostly the same. In this particular week, I got an average of about nine hours of sleep per weeknight. The recommended amount of sleep per night is between eight to nine hours (Teague 77). I would say I need at least eight full hours of sleep a night to feel like I am well rested. I did not occur a sleep debt during this week, however I have experienced weeks were I did accumulate a sleep debt. Genome Wide associated Study is a study involving hundreds of thousands of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) to be examined in relation to diseases in hundreds of thousands of subjects. GWAS studies compare the DNA of various subjects having different phenotypes of a specific disease, to the control subjects in order to identify the genome associated with the disease. Another way to run GWAS studies is by collecting thousands of hundreds of DNA samples. Using SNPs arrays genetic variants are read, if one variant has a higher frequency in subjects with a specific disease, which reveals that this genetic variant is linked to the disease. Some believe the death penalty is a better option for those who deserve the highest form of punishment available. Therefore, while many believe the death penalty should be legalized throughout the United States because it offers a higher form of punishment, others believe the death penalty should be repealed because it causes unnecessary deaths. But is this idea of rules and regulations enforced by a belief system really helpful to society? In a world without religion would there be less wars, hatred, and discrimination? With so many people involved or affiliated with religion it is important to explore deeper into the negative impact that religion has on society and try to make the world a better place with information that will help all. At a personal level religion fulfills the role of accounting for a lack of knowledge and offering hope in the face of difficulties while also offering a sense of belonging. To identify with a religious ideology, and call it the only truth and way, leads to the tremendously negative consequences of hatred, racism, and all kinds of violence. Evolution is often described as a change that has occurred over an extended period of time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One form of evidence is known as the fossil record; this is the documentation of one species that has transitioned into another form. A prime example of the fossil record is the evolution of birds. These flying creatures are often considered direct descendants of dinosaurs; Thomas Henry Huxley constructed this notion in the 1860s. Evidence of this theory came about in 1861 when the first, complete skeleton was discovered; the skeleton was of the Archaeopteryx lithographica. There was no mistaking that Archaeopteryx lithographica was a dinosaur because of features it adorned, including a bony tail, teeth, and claws on the wings. The troubling detail of this ancient creature was a new feature that had been discovered: feathers. This ignited the on going search for dinosaurian skeletons, providing clear evidence in support of Darwin s theory. In addition, direct observation has provided an enormous amount of evidence to prove a major component of Darwin s theory of evolution: natural selection. The first piece of evidence is the infamous peppered moths. The peppered moths are also known as Biston betularia; they are commonly found in Britain. The moths often fly during the night but they rest on trees during the day; this is a clever way to camouflage themselves from predators. The potassium nitrate and sugar react in an explosive reaction when lit. This reaction is moderated by the baking soda so that the smoke bomb creates smoke for a longer period of time rather than just burning out. During the combustion of the smoke bomb, the sugar will be oxidized to carbon dioxide and water. The nitrogen in the potassium nitrate will be reduced to nitrogen gas. The potassium will end up as potassium carbonate (the carbon coming from the CO2 from the sugar). (Smoke Bombs, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. International Adoption Essay example International Adoption When a mission team from south Florida arrived in Camp Haitia, they saw what to them was the most poverty stricken land on earth. Some of the men were literally ill at the sight of the filth in the rivers, on the land, and covering the children. Because Haiti is one of the poorest nations in the world, families do not even have enough to provide for their children, and many of them are left to fend for themselves. The mission team witnessed them bathing in polluted waters and scrounging for non existent food. I asked one member of this mission team if adoption was a possibility for any of these kids. His response was enthusiastic and emotional. I witnessed first hand for months his diligent efforts to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Still another reason why fewer children are available for adoption is the legalization of abortion. While these are not all necessarily negative reasons, they still are a discouragement to families desiring a child. Because there are so few children placed for adoption, the current waiting list is seven years or more (Fulton 2). International adoptions, however, can take as little as four months (Jeffreys 9), and at most one year (Fulton 2). Also, the adoption process itself is much simpler when dealing internationally. There are fewer restrictive eligibility requirements consisting of a home study by a social worker, police records clearing the perspective parents of past wrong doing, financial statements, a marriage certificate, proof of citizenship, medical histories, and reference letters (Fulton 3). The applicants may work through specific orphanages, adoption agencies, or their personal attorney. International laws state that agencies must be non profit organizations/and may not operate on the basis of region or creed (Hibbs 211). This extends the possibility of adoption to a greater economical and sociological group. Two reasons that there is such an abundance of homeless children in foreign countries are poverty and overpopulation. For instance, because China houses nearly one forth of the worlds population, they have set a one child per family law (Fulton 3). This forces the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. The Culture Of The Mexican Culture How many different types of cultures are there? Here s the answer there are many cultures. My story starts like this; both of my parents are from Guadalajara well most of my family is from that part of México. Being part of the Mexican culture is very different from other cultures, but every culture is unique of its own way. Many Mexican people have preserved and still do many of their ancestors traditions. Tradition plays a big role in my family for example: the food we eat, the music we listen to, what we dance to and what we celebrate to. I wanted a sweet sixteen but of course being Mexican my parents said no. Being in the Mexican culture tradition is that when you turn 15 you re supposed to have a Quinceanera it symbolizes that you are no longer a kid but you are now a young women. Many people think a Quinceanera is just a party but the real tradition is to have a church mass. Since I am catholic that consists of me going to church and thanking God. Social behaviors impact your life in many ways. You have roles and rules in your cultures. When you re with your friends you act a different way. When it has to do with family or church groups you have a role and rules and your behavior is different. Women and Males have different rules and roles. Mother is supposed to stay home and Father is supposed to work to help his family. Women are not supposed to do yard work their job is inside. That has changed with the year s most ... • 33. Leading Community Businesses And Governments Admit... Introduction Leading community businesses and governments admit Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as an official policy objective. Those companies who apply CSR are able to maintain sustainable progress. This development covers social, economic and environmental influence in how they run (Clegg, 2011, p. 216). Three areas are the bases of the triple bottom line (TBL) approach (Elkington, 1994). CSR itself has various meaning but in more simple way it can be defined as firms obligation to act ethically and to facilitate elaboration. Thereby they try to make employees life better and likewise help to demonstrate a positive impact on local society. Therefore businesses are responsible for two factors of how they operate. Firstly, they should be concerned about the quality of management including people and operations. Secondly, they have to consider the character and amount of their effect on community in different fields. External stakeholders take a huge concern on how an organisation acts whether they perform well in their products, services, and society or not. Moreover they take an interest in how they care towards the workforce (Baker, 2004). The following paper demonstrates the major reasons of why businesses should take CSR seriously and what advantages does CSR have when they use it. First aspect will be related to reputation and brand image. Then it will be followed by strategy of cost reduction. Third aspect will explain the approaches to gain a competitive ... The human resources department monitors performance of the employees and makes sure they are well trained for their job. If an employee doesn t do their job right, they could fire them and recruit another person to fill their space. Also they make sure that they fill up work for people on holiday or sick. This is to make sure that the work that needs to be done is not affected by people being on holiday etc. Another thing that human resources in Marks and Spencer s do, is that they make sure there is the required number of staff on each shop floor to keep the business run smoothly and provide the right customer service.
