Argumentative Essays Against Abortion
Writing an essay on the subject of "Argumentative Essays Against Abortion" can be a
challenging task, as it involves delving into a complex and sensitive issue that elicits strong
emotions from various perspectives. Crafting a well-reasoned argument against abortion requires
a careful examination of ethical, moral, legal, and medical aspects surrounding the topic.
One of the difficulties lies in navigating the plethora of opinions and beliefs that surround the
abortion debate. Different individuals and communities have diverse cultural, religious, and
philosophical stances, making it essential to present a comprehensive understanding of the
various perspectives. This requires thorough research to ensure a well-informed and nuanced
discussion that respects the diversity of viewpoints.
Additionally, addressing the emotional aspect of the abortion debate adds another layer of
complexity. Recognizing the deeply personal nature of the topic, it is crucial to approach the
argument with empathy and sensitivity, avoiding language that may alienate or disrespect
opposing views.
Moreover, constructing a persuasive and coherent argument requires a solid foundation of
evidence and logical reasoning. Balancing statistical data, expert opinions, and real-life examples
is essential to strengthen the essay's credibility and impact. The challenge lies in synthesizing this
information to form a compelling narrative that engages readers and effectively communicates
the chosen perspective.
Ultimately, writing an argumentative essay against abortion necessitates a delicate balance
between presenting a well-supported argument and acknowledging the complexity and
sensitivity of the issue. Striking this balance requires meticulous research, thoughtful
consideration of diverse viewpoints, and skillful communication.

The Arlington National Cemetery Home
The Arlington National Cemetery was established around the time of the Civil
War. The United States needed a place to bury all of the dead soldiers, so they laid
them down on the land of Robert E. Lee and his wife. Over the years, 300,000
soldiers have been buried there. They have also changed the qualifications to being
buried in the cemetery. There are even a few famous war heroes who are buried
there, not to mention the presidents who have been laid to rest. No matter how
important a person is, calling Arlington National Cemeteryhome is an honor. In this
paper, I will discuss how Arlington National Cemetery was established, what the
requirements are to be buried there, and the statistics of the cemetery. Orton William

The Union troops started marching in columns through Virginia towards their
destination of Arlington. The army took Arlington without a scratch and the next
morning it was flooded with Union members. The Union army soldiers stole
souvenirs from the mansion which were left behind from the Lees. Arlington soon
became a busy village full of army tents and even telegram posts connecting to the
War office. Arlington started losing some of its famous beauty as the soldiers
cleared many of the oak trees to clear a shooting path. With the fallen timber, they
built permanent cabins and posted remounting stations near the river for the
cavalry. Arlington was strengthened by the best to withstand against any attacking
force. (Poole) Many of the slaves who became free during the war, headed to the
capital city of Washington D.C.. The city became congested with slaves so they
became sick and many of them started dying. A few of the officers came up with
the idea to settle the former slaves on the property of Arlington. They viewed this as
fitting, since Arlington was the former house of rebel leaders supporting slavery.
The established village became known as Freedmen s Village. Surprisingly,
Freedmen s Village had everything from schools and churches to houses and
farmland; the farmers would grow crops which would feed the Union soldiers.
(Poole) The same year the property was taken over, the U.S. Government authorized

Grizzly Bear Research Paper
Bears are one of my greatest fears, and the scientific name of this fear is called,
ursaphobia. Bears are more dangerous than human beings, and bears could devour
someone in one gulp. I once encountered a grizzly bear on a mountain, which was
extremely startling to me. This jaw dropping adventure happened right outside
Yellowstone National Park, while on a family vacation. One night, we decided to
climb a steep mountain behind our cabin without any hesitation. My mother
emphasized We had to stop before we hit the summit. We scaled approximately 100
feet up the mountain, and my mother was capturing a picture of our foolish family.
All of a sudden my father whispered, Grizzly bear! The bear gradually started walking

Child Labor During The Late 1900 S Essay
Everyone can agree life has it s wonderful and egregious moments. Some people
have a grand life with insufficient negativity. Others people have a miserable life
and non imposing. In the late 1800 s and beginning to mid 1900 s, child labor
caused several children to have an inimical life rather than a preeminent life. When
people read what these children had gone through, they fail to remember to put
themselves in the children s situation; therefore, they don t understand, nor cease
how horrendous life was for the children. Numerous factual documents state how
deplorable life was for the children during this era. Furthermore, these documents
include the Union made Cigars, Finding of the Commission, the Law of 1913, the
letter from WPA Teacher Union to Governor Lehman, and lastly a telegram from
Mrs. of Nassau County to Governor Lehman. Schools today teach this time period
to the students and share innumerable certainties of the children s lives. Ultimately,
children in this life span had an atrocious duration. To inaugurate the child labor
existence, the leading report selected is from the Union made Cigars. This first
record revealed a label including the president s seal of approval affirming, This

Coherence, Entanglement, And Topological Phases Of
Quantum...
I am a theoretical physicist working on quantum mechanical aspects of condensed
matter and solid state physics. My past research highlights coherence, entanglement,
and topology in condensed matter systems. These features are unique in quantum
systems, and can give rise to phenomena that do not have classical counterparts.
Target systems of my interest include mesoscopic/nanoscopic systems such as
graphene, spintronics, topological insulators, and strongly correlated electronsystems
such as quantum magnetism, unconventional superconductors, and the quantum Hall
effect. More broadly, I am interested in quantum many body systems and quantum
field theories in general.
More specifically, one of my focuses in the last 10 years is to develop a ... Show more

For example, the quantum Hall states, time reversal symmetric topological insulators,
and one dimensional topological superconductors, all nicely fit into our classification
scheme. Furthermore, our theory predicts the stability of the edge states of
topological insulators/superconductors against disorder. Our classification scheme
has been playing an important role in exploring to new topological materials. For
example, based on our classification, we predicted the presence of novel three
dimensional time reversal symmetric topological insulators. This prediction has been
experimentally explored in the B phase of Helium, and in doped topological
insulators.
As illustrated by the above examples of topological phases, an important challenge in
quantum condensed matter physics is: How do we characterize and study highly
quantum and complex systems? This question is related not only to topological
phases, but to systems at quantum critical points, systems that can undergo a many
body localization transition in the presence of disorder, and eigen state thermalization
that takes place for closed quantum systems at finite energy density, etc. In this
regard, quantum entanglement has been establishing its status as an important
common language in modern quantum many body physics, both in condensed matter
and high energy physics contexts. It has been used to address many fundamental

Society During The Great Depression
During the great depression I think that our society thought of themselves as
broken because of the state of our economy and the amount of people out of work.
The country was at its lowest point having taken the biggest hit to the economy
possible. Everyone looked at what was happening and saw nothing but a broken
economy and a struggling people. They had to focus on feeding themselves and
their family so when it came to time to think what their responsibility was to the
rest of the world they couldn t get over how broken they were so they were no use
to anyone else. They were to busy thinking of themselves to be of any help to any
other people. When World War two started it pulled our society together once again
to face a threat that was more
Computer Engineering Personal Statement
The fast moving technologies have revolutionized the world from the perspectives of
reading, communication, entertainment, business, and so on. The desire to become
part of the revolution drove me to choose software engineering as my major in the
college. I am so obsessed with programming that I can sit in front of a computer
coding for an entire day. Logical problem solving, which is readily visible in
computing and programming, has motivated me to continue graduate studies in
computer science(basically the major name here, it could be computer engineering
or others depending on the program you will apply ). Especially, I m very
interested in Networking and Human Computer Interaction, which are the
representative of the speed of development in computer science and fundamental to
achieve my career goal build software that can actually help people and easy to
cope with. I want to help people like my grandparents to learn how to use the
internet, to be able to talk to people they love when they are far away; I want to
give the only child an e friend when they are alone; I want to help to clean our
internet world and stop bullying.
I enjoy applying programming to my studies and daily life in the sense that
programming enhances my working efficiency and helps me solve challenging
problems. In my freshman year, I designed an application to calculate the data from
circuit experiments. Manual calculation of the tremendous amount of data readily

Comparing the Female Protagonists in Groundhog Day and
A P
Role of the Female Protagonists in Groundhog Day and A P
Groundhog Day, starring Bill Murray, is a film about a television weatherman
named Phil who relives the same day, 2 March, over and over again. A P is a short
story by John Updike in which a cashier, Sammy, has his routine day disrupted when
three girls wearing swimming suits stroll into the grocery store where he works and
are confronted by the manager. Though their storylines vary greatly, in both works
the main character in each is a self centered, condescending male who eventually
realises the flaws in his character. This realisation is, in part, brought out by
supernatural forces in Groundhog Day and by a manager s harsh words in A P.
However, in each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike Phil, she never tells a lie or says a harsh word about anyone. The character of
Queenie is less developed she is only shown though the narrator s eyes as she walks
through the supermarket with her two friends. However, she still represents
something that Sammy is not: she is a leader and she is blithely unconventional; she
is a challenge to the status quo. When Sammy sees the girls he comments
You know it s one thing to have a girl in a bathing suit down on the beach. Where . .
. nobody can look at each other much anyway, and another thing in the cool of the A
P under the fluorescent lights . . .
Sammy says nothing to indicate that he disagrees with the social norm. Queenie,
however, sees no reason to adhere to such conventions. When scolded by the
manager, she replies by saying, We are decent . It never occurs to her that what she
has been doing might not be acceptable. Thus, Rita, the sensitive, caring person, and
Queenie, the non conformist, act as possible role models for the male protagonists to
aspire to:
The attraction Phil feels toward Rita and Sammy feels toward Queenie is the
motivating force that compels the men to change. Phil s attraction to
Ethics of Nanotechnology Essay
Ethics of Nanotechnology
Nanotechnology is actually a fairly new idea. This may not seem like any big deal
in terms of ethics, but just like any type of scientific advancement there are positives
and negatives. Of course the ethical issues don t stem out of just the fact that this is a
new kind of science. It branches off of what will this new scientific technology be
used for? For example, Embryonic Stem Cell research. It s not the research that s
bad it s how they get the cells. There are half a dozen, maybe more, different places to
get the same type of cells without taking the life of that unborn child.
The term, Nanotechnology, was first introduced back in the mid 1970 s by a

Of the $700 million in funding that the National Nanotechnology Institute (NNI)
received in 2003, less than $500,000 was spent on the study of how
Nanotechnology could affect the environment. But typical to today s culture the
immediate payback doesn t come from risk studies, as it does from how we can
potentially cure diseases. When in the long run a little robot just might be able to
cause a disease. Just as much as the public wants to know the risks the scientists
working on the project have even more to lose from a fear of the unknown (Colvin).
Along with these risks will come an entire set of ethical dilemmas. So how can we
set rules so that free lance researchers or government scientists don t do something
that the whole world might regret? One of the first guidelines which was set by
the Foresight Institute, founded by Drexler, and supported by the non profit
organization Center for Responsible Nanotechnology (CRN) is Nanotechnology s
highest and best use should be to create a world of abundance where no one is
lacking for their basic needs. Those needs include adequate food, safe water, a clean
environment, housing, medical care, education, public safety, fair labor, unrestricted
travel, artistic expression and freedom from fear and oppression (Ethics of
Nanotechnology). If we know just a little about the life of Christ he once said that
there would always be problems like this in the world, hunger, poor, oppressed ,

officers acted compassionately up until the time when force was required . Beck is

Disobeying and dishonest police officers are the ones that would have something to
worry about because they can lose their jobs and potentially get time in prison for
crime they have done that was caught on film. This is a positive as well because it
will seek out negative officers. The majority of findings that can happen by
requiring police officers to wear body cameras are positives rarely any negatives. It
would not only show undeniable evidence but also make more police officers obey
the law which has been proven by statics. Kaste states The people who like body

Contemporary Style Interior Design Essay
Key elements of contemporary style interior design
Quite often modern and contemporary style interior design are considered as similar
or even identical. But this is common mistake, and these are two different styles each
having its own history and distinctive features. In this article, we will find out what
characteristics contemporary style interior has, and how to use this style to make
room comfortable, functional and cozy.
First, it should be noted that contemporary style was formed in the second half of the
twentieth century, and it has adopted certain features of other styles, which were
widespread at that time. In a broad sense contemporary means living and occurring in
this moment, here and now . That is why contemporary style design ... Show more

To add spice to such a monotonous interior some bright or even dark colored
decor objects are used.
Silk, velvet, wool or linen are used in bedroom design to make contemporary
interior more cozy and warm.
The main elements remain the same: they are simple lines, open spaces and large
windows.
Preferable materials are wood, metal, stone and glass.
Certainly, the central element of any bedroom is bed. In contemporary bedroom, it
should be large and comfortable, guaranteeing good rest and sleep.
Contemporary style bathroom
Contemporary style bathrooms are filled with relaxing atmosphere, which helps to
calm down at the end of the day and to get your charge of cheerfulness in the
morning. The main tendencies here are naturality, energy savings and modern
innovations. Contemporary style in bathroom design aspires to minimalism, which
allows to create laconic and fresh interiors.
Contemporary design may have not very alive and welcoming look. That s why no
interior can stay without any decor. Huge popularity have oversized modern
paintings, different unusual statues and accessories, which make room not only

How Does Mary Oliver Use Imagery In Crossing The
Swamp
In Crossing the Swamp , Mary Oliver uses the Swamp as a metaphor for life s
struggles when she states Here is swamp, here is struggle and continues to expound
on this metaphor throughout the poem. She relates the physical characteristics of the
swamp to going through a struggle and her use of literary devices helps to drive this
metaphor. Through her use of tone and imagery, Oliver is able to show the transition
of the relationship between the speaker and the swamp(struggles) from one of
hopelessness to one of hopefulness. At the beginning of the poem, the tone is very
hopeless. The swamp seems endless to the speaker, suggesting that they think the
struggles they are facing will never be overcome. Similarly, the swamp is thick and
Magna Carta Historical Documents
DSPA There was many documents that influenced the writing of the constitution.
Some people may say we stole parts from them, but I believe we borrowed them and
made them better. We made them better because they were now part of the United
States of America. From the Magna Carta to the Articles of Confederation, writings
all around the world influenced the US constitution. Even though we copyrighted
some of the constitution it is still one of the most ingenious writings in the world.
The first document to influence the constitution was the Magna Carta. The Magna
Carta declared everyone was subject to law, even the king. It also said that no one
could be put through cruel or unusual punishment. Another thing it said was the
everyone had the right to a fair trial and justice. Magna Carta means great charter in
latin. It also included the right to speedy trial. The Magna Carta influenced many
parts of the constitution. The first thing it influenced was that the king and
government were bound to the same laws as the citizens. This means that the king
and the government weren t above the law, just like the president and US
government. Another thing that is similar is the right to a fair and speedy trial just
like in the bill of rights. The last area that is similar is that no one could be put
through cruel and unusual punishment. That is just one of many historical documents
that influenced the constitution.
The second historical document was the Mayflower Compact. The
Essay about Foreign Policy
The Roosevelt Corollary greatly affected American foreign policy. It was in sharp
contrast to the Monroe Doctrine, put in place to stop foreign intervention with the
American continents. In 1823 President Monroe implemented US policy that stated
European powers were not allowed to colonize or interfere with the newly budding
United Statesor the Americas. In 1904 President Roosevelt expanded upon this
policy in response to European intervention with Latin America. This policy became
known as the Roosevelt Corollary. The document echoed the style of leadership

became known as Big Stick Diplomacy. Foreign policy in the United States would

The economy was expanding and the US became more interested in the well being of
surrounding economies. The Dominican Republic was in debt to various European
nations at this time. They were having problems paying their debts and chose to stop
paying them. In response to this issue, President Theodore Roosevelt formulated an
extension to the Monroe Doctrine. The Roosevelt Corollary, as it became to be
known, gave the US the power to intervene with European powers coming west in an
attempt to collect debts.2 The fear was that Europe, in an attempt to collect debts,
would occupy and control the country in debt. With the Panama Canal on the scope,
this would hinder economic stimulus in the US. President Roosevelt s beliefs are best
captured in the Corollary when he stated:
It is not true that the United States feels any land hunger or entertains any projects
as regards the other nations of the Western Hemisphere save such as are for their
welfare. All that this country desires is to see the neighboring countries stable,
orderly, and prosperous. Any country whose people conduct themselves well can
count upon our hearty friendship. If a nation shows that it knows how to act with
reasonable efficiency and decency in social and political matters, if it keeps order
and pays its obligations, it need fear no interference from the United States.
1970 Civil Defense
The fact that these lack any reference to fear or anger demonstrates that civil defense
was working remarkably well in North Dakota in 1964.
While civil defense was effective in 1964, six years passed before protests over the
ABM emerged. Civil defense had more than enough time to erode during this time,
but it did not. Government produced civil defense literature produced between 1964
and 1970 shows the government still had an interest in promoting the psychological
purpose of civil defense. Material produced by local civil defense groups, as well as
further newspaper coverage, demonstrated this was successful.
The first sources to examine are the Government plans regarding civil defense in the
six year period between the installation of the Minuteman Missiles and the
installation of the ABM. The government plans were a result of President Kennedy s
increased funding and focus on civil defense. The major program was the Home

Connections And Similarities Between The American...
During the mid to late 18th century, revolutions were happening on a global scale.
The European powers dominated the western hemisphere. They had colonies that
spanned from North America to South America. These colonies were lucrative assets
to their respective mother countries of which were built on the backs of the colonies
slave populations. The colonies in North America were controlled by the British
while the Island of Saint Domingue was controlled by the French. The colonies
oppressive mother countries constantly violated human rights and committed
atrocities that the colonists and slaves grew tired of. The colonies wanted more
political autonomy and freedoms that their mother countries failed to acknowledge or
consider. Therefore, this left them with no choice but to start a revolution to reach
their desired goal. In this essay, I will analyze the connections and similarities
between the American Revolutionand events leading up to the Haitian Revolution.
These factors include the impact the American Revolution had globally, the
emergence of the French Revolution, and class struggles in Saint Domingue, which
ultimately led to the Haitian Revolution.
The American Revolutionary Warwas evoked by colonists longing for freedom and
independence from their European mother country Great Britain. The colonists
resentment grew over time by way of taxes being imposed on them and lack of
political representation in the British Parliament. This resentment fueled the colonist
Transcendentalism In Into The Wild
Living fully but simply is the key to life in a transcendentalist point of view.
Transcendentalism is focused around nature and the beauty of the world rather than
the horrible insights of society and the government. Chris McCandless in the movie,
Into The Wild, goes on an adventure with a mindset like a Transcendentalist and seek
happiness in nature. Chris is on the way to Alaska to hide away from society and the
government by trying to live by himself in the forest with little supplies. McCandless
gets some ideas right about Transcendentalismbut also gets ideas wrong which leads
to his ultimate demise. To begin with, Chris McCandless overthinks
Transcendentalism by getting rid of most of his material possessions. McCandless
discards most of his things and only wished to live deliberately, to front only the
essential facts of life (Thoreau 114). He ends with taking all of his money and

Just like the Transcendentalists, Chris McCandless thinks society and the people
around him are a detriment to his life and well being which gives him another
reason to spend [days] as deliberately as nature ( Thoreau). Society lets little
valuables and expensive belongings take control of the individuals and the
environment around them. Not only does society let these valuables take control, but
is seen as positive hindrances to the elevation of mankind (Thoreau). In addition to,
according to Thoreau and other Transcendentalists, Civilization is just another word
for making money. Chris escapes from the preposterous society and starts to explore
thyself in the process (Thoreau). McCandless takes in consideration of how deep the
ruts of tradition and conformity are as he thinks of how society uses tradition to keep
people from their spiritual truths

Techniques Of Steven Spielberg
DIRECTOR S STYLE Steven Spielberg used classic linear storytelling in his
movies, the narrative in most of his movies were Plot driven and very effective. He
is a storyteller always mindful of holding his audience. Steven Spielberg is one of the
greatest directors of today. He is master in taking stories and incidents from the past
and and rejuvinating them with his own potential.
STEVEN SPIELBERG: The Approach to Character
The characters in Spielberg movies are often extreme.
FILMING TECHNIQUE
THE SPIELBERG FACE . The technique of Spielberg s face is to zoom in on a
character as they are looking at something. Most of the time the face is fully
surprised or amazed and the thing that they are looking at is not revealed until the
character shows their expression. Spielberg was the first to show the technique and
this is why its called the Spielberg face. Spielberg face is present in all his movies
like Jurassic Park, Close Encounters and The Color Purple.
Sideways tracking shots One of the classic filming technique, but Spielberg makes
his tracking shots look different from everyone else. His sideways shots are very long,

The Use of Hedonistic, Playful Youth Based Photography
in...
A single word can group together all (or at least a large majority) of today s youth,
that word is Hedonist.
Hedonist (noun): a person whose life is devoted to the pursuit of pleasure and self
gratification.
In a world where young people are only living for themselves, the corporations and
brands are booming. Having expensive clothes, the newest phone and an overpriced
cocktail in your hand on a weeknight has never been so important. This is the essence
of youth, going to parties to show off your brand new purchases, buying a whole
new wardrobe for your one week holiday to Ibiza. Major fashion brands have caught
on to this and youth culture has began to feature heavily in campaigns.
Well respected Fashion Photographer Elaine Constantine ... Show more content on

If you buy these things, you could live like these people; they re selling an idea just
as much as they are trying to sell the garments in said campaigns.
Another photographer who s work particularly focuses on youth culture is Danielle
Levitt, a New York based photographer who s work reflects American youth culture.
She has shot for brand s like Penguin and Diesel as well as having a very full
portfolio of youth culture based photography that has been featured in magazines
like Hero and Rollacoaster. Her work for Penguin is quite similar to Elaine
Constantine except maybe more commercial. All the shots are posed unlike Elaine
Constantine s who s tend to look more natural but the notion is the same, lots of
very attractive people spending time together in bars or by the docks which is
where this campaign is based; but her work for Diesel Reboot is worlds apart.
Images of different types of subcultures in their bedrooms were something very fresh
and interesting in the way of youth culture; it showed a completely genuine account
of how young adults/teenagers live their lives and it s a huge contrast to other brand s
campaigns trying to appeal to youth audiences.
Taking both of these photographers work into account and looking
New York City Public Transportation System
Beginning in June of 1952, when the Metropolitan Transportation Authority was
founded, advances in transportation in New York City have improved the city s
developing economy and have benefitted people to a great extent. Located in the
heart of Manhattan, the MTA headquarters are home to hundreds of different
vehicles, ridden by thousands daily. The train tracks and bus routes run through
Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island, and the Bronx, unifying all five
boroughs and improving the lives of everyone Beginning at $0.05 and going up to
$2.50, one way bus fare has slowly been increasing since the MTA was founded.
Although the cost depends mainly on how far the vehicle is traveling, this is the
standard expense and the difference is significant. This cost is beneficial to travellers
because it is inexpensive, and convenient for day to day use.
Along with convenience, there are multiple economic benefits to using New York City
public transportation. Pollution can become less of a problem, because travellers
aren t taking individual cars throughout the state. The system is reliable for
workers and travellers, making New York City a busy tourist area. The schedules
are clearly posted, along with dozens of different times of the day to make
travelling less of a hassle. There is arguably less stress on the commuter about traffic
on the streets and less worrying about time since the transportation system is reliable.
The problem of finding a place to park on the busy
Where Aliens Came From
Many news of mysteries on our planet is still not yet clarified by experts to us.
Some of this news are about how Earth was formed and others are nature related. But
most of the unexplained news is about the aliens . Questions of where aliens came
from? Why they are visiting our planet? Will they invade us?
Many conspiracy theorists say that they have proof that aliens do visit and live on
our planet. Some of these proofs are the Madonna and Child painting, the Great
Pyramid of Giza, the Nazca Lines, and others. And just recently, another buzz of
aliens stopover was seen by many circling around their area.
According to The Sun, a video footage of two strange lights moving in a

Maria And Mcteague Summary
The Maria/Zerkow subplot is a parallel to the main plot of Trina and McTeague
whereby the relationship is marked by violence and marked with greed. Maria
cleans rooms while Zerkow is a junk dealer who is attracted to Maria from her
stories of trunks which have golden plates and bowls which previously belonged to
her parents and ancestors. The recurrence of the Maria and Zerkow to the main
story is a subplot which is parallel to the main plot both directly and inversely.
Maria and Zerkow, like Trina and McTeague develop a conflict over money and
wealth with Zerkow murdering her just like Trina was murdered shortly after. In a
similar trance, both couples have greed for money and riches which ultimately brings
their ending. The relationship
Polar Ice Caps Melting
In this essay I express how the melting of the polar ice caps in the North Pole is
affecting the survival of habitats of organisms around the world. The common
misconception is that only polar bears are suffering from global warming. Because
of rapid climate change in multiple areas around the globe, many organisms are
unable to live in their normal habitat. They are unable to adapt to these new
conditions as fast as they are changing. There are many effects of global warmingthat
is affecting the livelihood of many animals and in this essay I will explain how the
effects are hurting the earths population of animals.
What is Global Warming? Global warming is a gradual increase in the overall
temperature of the earth s atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect
caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and other
pollutants. The Green House Effect is the process in which the absorption and
emission of infrared radiation by gases in the atmosphere warm a planet s lower
atmosphere and surface. These greenhouse gases traps some of the heat emitted by
the Earth. The problem with global warming is that is an anthropomorphic problem.
The human race is polluting and misusing our earth. The people here on earth have
substantially increased the quantity of CO2 in the atmosphere. This is a result of
burning fossil fuels, coal, oil and gas emissions from automobiles. The quantity of
CO2 36%is higher than in preindustrial times. The more

Abstract
Coaching and leadership seem to be synonymous with each other, in that if you re a
high caliber coach you must be a great leader, how else would you have achieved
your success. While coaching in the NCAA division 1 basketball the goal is to win
national championships, while also being a mentor to your students. Bobby Knight
is a great basketball legend at Indiana, with a past of outrageous unacceptable
behavior to the fans and to players, while also having one of the best collegiate
records of all time. Coach Krzyzewski was also a great coach, was mentored by coach

(Bob Carter) Integrity is the ability of a leader to live and lead with some principles
and take responsibility for their actions. The ability to possess integrity should build
confidence in your team. Integrity is probably where the two coaches will separate
their styles of leadership. Coach Knight through the years did several things to
damage that integrity, through his actions in Panama or ways he degraded
assistant coaches or lecturing teams with the use of props of soiled toilet paper.
There were many times where his actions did not represent the role which he was
given and he made little effort to change unless he was forced. Coach K built much
of what he was on his integrity; he stuck up for his players many times. Once his
team was graded by the student paper, it was the fact that the paper portrayed the
players as instruments of entertainment and ego indulgence; this infuriated the coach,
which he later apologized. What Coach K stood for was a caring, communication
and trust within the team, and that was what he wanted for the whole student body,
and why his fan base was so strong. The last important trait style of leadership is the
ability for a leader to seek out good pleasant social relationships. The leader should be
thought of as friendly, outgoing, courteous, tactful and diplomatic. Coach Knight, I
believe, started out his career with these traits as
Gay Rights Australia
MHIS109 Analysis
1)Gay rights have come a long way, but there s more to do by Greg Waters, Sydney
Morning Herald (2018), outlines a national journey but also personal journey of the
author. Waters highlights how as a nation, Australia has come so far since the 20th
century in terms of gay rights, yet there is still more work that needs to be done, to
ensure all discrimination stops. Waters uses evidence from 1972 to highlight how
inhumanely gay people were treated, including being dismissed from employment
for being gay and that protestors against these practices were not looked upon
favourably . In 2018 however, a big win for gay rights was the legalisation of gay
marriage in 2017. Yet, he argues there is still so far to go, as in 2018,... Show more

Willett argues that the world view has changed, with the help of so many activists,
bringing about fundamental changes in society s attitudes. Willett talks about the
changes made up until 1997, however since then attitudes and legislation relating to
homosexual people has become even more understanding and tolerant. In the early
20th century, gay and lesbian people were marginalised to the point of invisibility
and demonization . He argues that before 1975, homosexual laws were some of the
harshest laws that the government introduced. This was because there was a general
sense of homophobia after the 1960 s, calling homosexual behaviour, sexual
depravity. He cites Barry York demanding conjugal rights for prisoners to prevent
prisons from being breeding grounds for homosexuality . He also draws on the
homosexual attitudes in the paper, such as the Tribune in 1973 which states how
John Sendy wanted the government to oppose gay liberation . However, Willett
also uses evidence of people trying to change this law and fight for gay rights, such
as Whitlam in 1970, who expressed support for decriminalisation of homosexual acts,
and how in 1972, Lex Watson set out law reform abolishing all laws regarding
discrimination against gay couples and sexual orientation, race and marriage status.
He demanded public education campaign in schools to eradicate anti gay attitudes.
Willett suggests these actions helped to reshape Australian society creating more
understanding. By 1997 there was wider public acceptance and tolerance of
homosexual people, with Mardi Gras parade being popularised, the decriminalisation
of male homosexual behaviour, acceptance of lesbians and the recognition of gay
custody rights in families and much stronger anti discrimination laws, all creating a
powerful sense

A shortcoming that the Wiihas had is that it did not promote gaming for serious
gamers. This was because the technology has not been as good. Most systems are
using an online option for their gaming and Nintendo is not integrating itself into that
aspect. The market seems to be saturated with the Wii. Most homes have one that
want one, and a lot of them are not using it for what it is meant for, they are using it
for things like a way to stream Netflix to their television. The other issue that has
happened is the amount of counterfeit products that have been released. They have
found major problems all over the world with counterfeit games, systems and
controllers.
Nintendo has many opportunities available to them and it seems that they have
started to take advantage of some of them. Because they had such success with the
Wii, they have experience with motion technology and that can lead to expansion.
With the amount of current owners of their systems, they could focus on making
games that will interest more people. Some feel that the controller is awkward, so
they could come up with more alternatives. They could improve upon their
technology and possibly come out with a better, stronger Wii.

Anne Frank Essay
Anne Frank had a numerous amount of tragic events during her lifetime that
scared her and her family throughout their existence. Although, she did have a few
high points that would continue her legacy. Anne Frank suffered as a Jew in
various circumstances, she had a cruel time while she was hiding from the vicious
Germans, and the dairy that was written by Anne modified a variety of people.
Anne had a tough time as a Jew and had to go through several harsh situations. As a
child Anne and her marvelous family had to move around to different locations
quite a bit. For example, Anne was born in a small city in Germany and had to leave
because of some troubles her family had for being a Jew. This was when Anne s
mother, Edith, wanted to leave for Amsterdamso that they wouldn t have a high
chance of being captured. Also, they started off in a public school where they had a
innumerable amount of different races all in a single building. It wasn t until later
that the children had to make a transformation to a Jewish school. When a barbaric
man named Adolf Hitlerbecame a huge leader in the German colonization horrific
things happened to the Frank family. The family decided to flee to a secret annex
so that they would not be caught by the Nazi Police, the Gestapo. She had to live in
a firm where they were taken care of by her dad s business partners, this event
occurred in 1942. Living in the annexwas not consistent for her original lifestyle and
destroyed her self esteem.
The Day Of The Last Rock Fight
The reasoning and thought process behind any decision will dictate the outcome of
the situation, as it is affected by prior knowledge and experience, which is
necessary in predicting how an event will play out. In both The Day of the Last
Rock Fight by Joseph Whitechill and Lather and Nothing Else by Hernando Tellez,
the authors use fear driven characters who are in similar situations regarding
immorality. However, the events leading to and reasoning behind their thoughts
remain very different despite the fact that the circumstances they find themselves in
are alike in nature. This is portrayed through the barber and Ronnie s contrasting
beliefs and impact from society. It is also shown through the variance in the decision
making process carried out by the two individuals. Ronnie habitually makes hasty
decisions that will benefit himself, whereas the barber makes calculated and selfless
decisions. Through the two stories it is explained that the latter will result in a better
conclusion, as being selfish and too quick to act can lead to unexpected personal and
external conflicts. The opposing outcomes highlight the idea that the ways in which
decisions are made are extremely influential, regardless of the circumstances. Though
the barber and Ronnie are in almost parallel situations, their values and pressure from
society play a major role in determining the type of decisions they make, and in turn
the eventual conclusion of the issue at hand. In The Day of the Last
The Importance Of Being A Good And Effective Leader
One very important aspect of being a good and effective leader includes valuing
your employees and being able to convey to each employee the value that they have
to you and the company as an individual. Christine Comaford wrote The Value of
Valuing Employees discussing the importance of valuing each employee and
discussing six specific pitfalls leaders portray when it comes to valuing employees.
The pitfalls include, failing to respond to employee emails, failing to provide
feedback positive or negative, acknowledging people only when they make mistakes,
failing to celebrate victories, showing favoritism, and burning out employees.
Committing pitfalls in leadership The first pitfall Comaford (2013) discusses is
Failing to Respond to Employee Emails . This pitfall is essentially not making
enough time to respond and/or not responding quickly enough to employees,
specifically in emails. By not responding to your employees email in a timely
manner, or simply not responding at all makes the employees mind panic and the
employee begin to question themselves and their importance in the company. I have
had this happen in my previous workplace with my district manager. I would send
her emails, leave her notes on her desk, or even ask her in person, face to face to help
me out with something or an answer about something and nine times out of ten she
would forget to respond or help me in anyway. This made me not wantto come to her
with any concerns, or for any help or any
Standardized Test Scores Of Racial Minority Students
I. Introduction
The achievement gap is evident in the standardized test scores of racial minority
students. When examining demographic information published by College Board
Inc. and ACT Inc., it is evident that there exists a widening gap between the scores of
African American adolescents on the SAT, or the Scholastic Aptitude Test, and the
ACT, or American College Test. Statistics from the 2013 SAT show African
American students earning scores of 431 in critical reading, 429 in mathematics,
and 418 in writing (College Board, 2013). On the ACT in the 2013 year, the average
composite score for African American test takers was 18.2. In comparison to their
racial and ethnic counterparts, African Americans scored lower in every subject area
than every other test taker. Frequently this gap in scores has been attributed to a
number of factors including a student s socioeconomic status, teacher qualifications,
and school s lack of access to academic resources. Instead, one should look to the
theory of stereotype threat. In summation, stereotype threat is being at risk of
confirming a negative stereotype threat about one s group (Steele Aronson, 1995).
One may question: To what extent does stereotype threat lead to African American
adolescents underperforming in academic settings? Stereotype threat negatively
affects African American students in that it produces self fulfilling prophecies
causing African American adolescents to underperform on college entrance exams.

The Canadian Government And The Aboriginal People
In the 19th century, The Canadian government believed that it was their job to
educate the Aboriginal people in Canada. European settlers felt that the aboriginal
people were savage, ignorant, and like children needed guidance, and needed to be
civilized . Ultimately, they wanted to assimilate the Aboriginal people into
Canadian and Christian ways of living life in Canada. The Canadian government
came up with a policy called aggressive assimilation to be taught at industrial
schools that would be run by the churches and government funded. They chose
children to go to these schools because they are easier to manipulate and mold than
the adults and felt that school was the best way to do so. With the hopes of the
assimilated children will teach their children their new way of life and that their
traditions and culture will diminish or be completely gone in a few generations. In
the 1880 s, the government began to construct the residential schools across Canada.
Authorities often would take kids from their home, to isolate them from their family
and familiar communities. In 1920 is when the Indian Act came in effect where
every Aboriginal child was obligated to attend a residential school and it was illegal
for them to go to any other institution. Moving on to oppression which Aboriginal
children faced much of. Oppression is defined as the social act of placing severe
restrictions on an individual, group, or institution. The ultimate goal of oppression is
to keep the people
Who Launched An Object Into Space Research Paper
On October 4, 1957, the world was changed. It was the first time that anyone had
launched an object into Earth s orbit. It was one this day that the Soviet Union
launched Sputnik I. The Soviet Union and the United States had racing to get the
first satellite into space, the new frontier. Some people in the world saw this is a
very negative thing, but this feat was really something great. Humans had sent an
object into outer space. The whole story, however, really starts a few years before,
when the International Council of Scientific Unions designated the time period of
July 1, 1957 to December 31, 1958, the International Geophysical Year. They declared
that this would be the best time to document and study the Earth from space. It...

The launch of the first satellite was an incredible feat for the Soviet Union scientific
community, and a very shocking blow to the Americans. However, the launch did
not only affect the scientific communities. Many civilians were worried what the
satellite could do and what power it gave the Soviet Union, even though President
Eisenhower attempted to make it seem like the launch was not a big deal. It
showed great leap that the USSR had made in their space program. This led to the
United States putting much more money towards math and science programs.
They especially put more funding into specifically space and military programs.
Americans were worried what the Soviets could do. If they had rockets that could
power something out of this world, they could easily launch a missile to reach the
US. Theories swirled about what the Soviet Union might try to do with a satellite
in space; launch nuclear missiles, spy on Americans, and many other ideas. These
ideas may not have been the goals for the first satellite, but the space race was
definitely stepped up a notch. The space race was only a small part of a much bigger
conflict, the Cold War. While the Soviet Union was working on their space
program, they were also developing a line of new and advanced weaponry. News got
the United States, so then both countries were building up their armories. The Cold
War had grown, not only to the space race, but also an arms
Aquinas Cosmological Proof
St. Thomas Aquinas Cosmological Proof of God s Existence St. Thomas Aquinas
was born in A.D 1225 close to Naples. Thomas Aquinas was the seventh son of
lower nobility. Thomas s parents hoped he would become a person with power and
influence, so they sent him to Monte Cassino. Monte Cassino was one of the big,
great and wealthy Benedictine monasteries. After the monastery, Thomas went to a
University just founded in Naples and it was there that he became a fan of Aristotles
philosophy. Thomas then went against his family s wishes, and refused careers in
military or politics, and became a friar for the Dominican order. Thomas Aquinas

Thomas Aquinas gives for proof of God s Existence is the Argument from
Gradations of Perfection, or also known as Argument from The Hierarchy of beings.
Among beings there are some more and some less good, true, noble and the like,
which means that some are better or worse than others. But more and less are
predicated of different things, according as they resemble in their different ways.
Now the maximum in any genus is the cause of all in that genus; as fire, which is the
maximum heat, is the cause of all hot things. there is something which is truest,
something best, something noblest and, consequently, something which is uttermost
being. This being is what we would call God. Therefore there must also be
something which is to all beings the cause of their being, goodness, and every other
perfection; and this we call God. God in the fourth way is known as and thought of as
the highest, best, and the perfect
The Relationship Between Riverdale And Gilgamesh
Death and grief are common themes in literature and entertainment as a result of
their presence throughout history. These themes create a tie between the most
ancient texts and modern pop culture. An example of this is Gilgamesh and
Riverdale. In the ancient Sumerian narrative, Gilgamesh by Herbert Mason,
Gilgamesh, a ruthless king deals with the death of his newfound friend, Enkidu.
Before, Gilgamesh did not care for his people. He forced brides to sleep with him,
and did not take care of the great walls his subjects took so long to make. On the
other hand, Enkidu grew up in the forest with the animals, and learned to protect and
respect all beings. Both maintained their strength and friendship until Enkidu reached
his disastrous fate. In the modern TV show, Riverdale by Rob Seidenglanz, Cheryl
Blossomgrieves for her twin brother, Jason. The two were inseparable from birth,
and their entire town was aware. Similarly to Gilgamesh, Cheryl was unsympathetic
and disliked by her peers. Jason, like Enkidu, was more responsible and
compassionate. In both Gilgamesh and Riverdale, characters learn to cope with the
loss of a meaningful person in their life and ultimately experience change as a result.
The friendship between Gilgamesh and Enkidu, as well as the attachment between
Cheryl Blossom and her brother, Jason, is what makes their deaths so important.
Gilgamesh and Enkidu s bond first influences their actions on their journey together,
Enkidu was afraid of the forest of
Analysis Of Arachne And Minerva As A Didactic Work Of...
Crimes of Heaven:
Defining Arachne and Minerva as a Didactic Work of Mythology
An ancient prose narrative, all versions of Arachne and Minerva warn readers of
the consequences facing those who disrespect the gods by recounting Athena s
actions when faced with mortal hubris. In studying prose narratives, William
Bascom defined a valid myth as one: set in an earlier world, focused on a main
character of a divine nature, and considered sacred and true by its original audience.
Ovid s Arachne and Minerva adheres to Bascom s definition of a myth because it
was viewed as a truthful account of the past, detailed the goddess Athena s true
process of addressing human disrespect, and focused the legitimate divine
repercussions that follow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bascom additionally notes that because they take place in an earlier time, a myth can,
...account for the origin... of animals... and the phenomena of nature, (4). Arachne
and Minerva takes an etiologically relates the origin of spiders, created to curse
Arachne, and explaining that they weave webs to remind her of her hubris (Sanan
and van Loveren 153).
For Bascom, a secondary qualification to be a valid myth is that, their main characters
are not usually human beings, but they often have human attributes, animals, deities,
or culture heroes, and here, Athena the goddess behaves like a person would (4). We
see even the goddess of wisdom being prone to jealousy in Athena s internal
monologue, To praise is not enough; I should have praise myself, proving even
Athena can be affected by human hamartias like resentment (Ovid 1). Contrary to
some religious ideals of an immaculate Demiurge, the Greek Pantheon mirrored the
unpredictable nature of Greek society, and thus the gods had supernatural abilities
paired with anthropomorphic personalities. This adds greater importance to Bascom s
criteria of deity characters with human attributes, because these trusted gods
controlled lives of the Greek and Roman people, yet they were just as temperamental
as humanity. Viewing the myth through a euhemeristic lens, it is even possible

Why Is Willie Brewster Wrongful
Hate, it causes a lot of problems in the world, but has not solved one yet, said Maya

was Willie Brewster. He was not just any Negro, but a revolutionary martyr.
Always a diligent man, many whites were envious of him. Unfortunately, he was
shot, and the world may never understand why. Although this may be, Brewster had
proved something that was significant to the movement. Brewster s death was
wrongful because he had a family, and he received racially biased treatment when
he was admitted into the hospital. There was no reasonable explanation for the
murder, but his death proved the innocence of Negroes.Willie was born on April

Romeo And Juliet And West Side Story Analysis
West Side Story was based on the classic story of Romeo and Juliet. This story was
originally written in the 3rd Century and then re written by William Shakespeare in
1594. Shakespeare s version was based on a poem written by Arthur Brooks in
1562. The story of Romeo and Juliet is a love story/ tragedy about two families:
Capulet and Montague. Both families hate each other which leads to Romeo and
Juliet knowing that they cannot be married, even though they are in love. They
then try to arrange a secret wedding but Tybalt (Juliet s cousin) and Mercutio
(Romeo s close friend) get into a fight in which, Romeo gets in the middle of and
kills Tybalt. Juliet finds out about Tybalt s death and is mourning, to help, her dad
(Capulet) tells her that she should marry Paris ( the kingsman of the Prince)
However, to avoid marrying Paris, Juliet drinks a sleeping potion so that she
appears dead to everyone else. Romeo finds Juliet and, because he thinks she is
dead, he kills himself. Juliet wakes up to find Romeo dead and a result, she kills
herself too. Similarly, West Side Story is also about two very different groups in
New York City, 1950: The Sharks and The Jets. The Sharks group are a group of
boys from Puerto Rico and led by Bernardo. The Jets are an American group of
boys led by Riff. The story goes that the two rival groups (The Jets and the The
Sharks) can not coexist together. Former Jet and Riff s best friend, Tony and
Bernards younger Sister, Maria meet at a dance and instantly fall in love but know
that they cannot be together. They begin meeting in secret and plan to run away
together. The Jets and Sharks plan a rumble and whoever wins will gain control
over the streets. Maria sends Tony to stop it however, Bernard kills Riff and in
anger, Tony kills Bernard. He begs Maria for her forgiveness and they plan, again,
to leave the city. Bernards fiance, Anita is mauled by the Jets and as result, she tells
them that Maria is dead. Devastated Tony goes out to hunt for Chino (Maria s
murderer ) and runs into Maria in the playground. Overjoyed, the couple embrace
each other. Chino runs into the playground with a gun and shoots and kills Tony.
When the police arrive, both The Jets and The Sharks help

differences between them all. A tuner car is defined as a vehicle that is easy to
modify and has mostly performance oriented modifications. Many of these vehicles
are sedans, or four door vehicles. They can be anywhere from small to medium in
size and take to forms of traditional sedans, mass produced coupes, and hatchbacks.
This is the broadest of all of the categories of vehicles.
Examples of this type of vehicle are the Honda Civic, Toyota Supra, Mitsubishi
Eclipse, and fox body Ford Mustangs. Normally these cars are less expensive and
more readily available than the others on this ... Show more content on

Because most muscle cars were manufactured 35 or more years ago, the vehicles are
many times found in severe disrepair. This makes restorations the most common
work done to muscle cars. Because of their restored market value, many cars remain
however they left the factory. Sports cars are cars that are designed to go fast, but
also handle better than their muscle car counterparts. A sports car is small, seats one
or two people, has a low center of gravity, and is very light compared to other cars.
Unlike muscle cars, sports cars are still manufactured today. Furthermore, the
movement was started in Europe and most sports cars are made by European
companies. These vehicles were first manufactured in 1910 and have been in constant
production ever
Why Do Kids Get A Trophy
Should a child get a trophy to make him happy or because he earned the trophy?
People are debating whether a child should get a trophy for effort or talent.People
are saying that kids should only get a trophy if they earned it. Children should not get
a trophy just because they showed up to their game. They need to be the best to get
the trophy. Kids should not get trophies just because they worked hard. They
should be rewarded for their athleticness. Sports help teach kids it s okay to lose,
they can learn they are not always going to be the best, they can learn what it takes
to become the best, and how to work harder.
Although kids may work hard, not everyone should get a trophy just for showing
up. Kids need to work for what they want. Kids can learn life lessons by losing and
not coming in first. At a young age, kids need to learn that you are going to make
mistakes and that is okay. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Otherwise, you might quit at a young age because you think you are not good
enough. This evidence helps prove, that not everyone should get a trophy because
when you get older not everyone will get the job or the part in a show. Therefore,
kids need to learn that they should try their hardest but don t let a mistake stop you
from accomplishing your dreams. Everyone makes mistakes, those mistakes will help
you do it right the next time you try again. Mistakes are what makes an athlete better,

Older Adult Fitness
The most common types of exercise for older adults includes: aerobic, strength,
balance, and flexibility. Out of the four exercise training modalities, flexibility is
often down played as unimportant to fitness. Most exercise physiology research on
aging has only seemed to focus on cardiovascular health and musclestrength, but
maintaining or improving flexibility should have at least same amount or more
importance for function and quality of life in older adults (Holland et al., 2002).
Flexibility training is comprised of stretching exercises utilized to maintain full
ROM of joints in older adults who may experience limited joint mobility (Nelson et
al., 2007). The purpose of flexibility training is to increase an older adult s ROM that

Use Of Weapons In The Medieval Period
In the Medieval Period, people created many inventions to help them with everyday
life, including weapons, armor, and farm equipment. They had to create these things
so they could survive. They had to have weapons to protect themselves from
enemies and animals too. The farm equipment they did have had to work efficiently.
If it broke down it had to be able to be repaired.
In the medieval period they had many weapons to protect themselves and to fight
with. One of the most common weapons was the sword. They used the sword for
fighting in battles, this wasn t the only weapon they used. They also used the very
first crossbows and regular bow and arrow. They used catapults to launch big rocks
and anything to crush buildings and people.
Farming in the medieval period was interesting they did something new almost every
month. January and February, they repaired hunting nets, sharpened tools, gather fire
wood cut firewood, feed the livestock and hunt. They had to do all this during the
cold months because they can t get in the fields, and they can t hunt for bigger game
in the warmer months. When it warmed up they could cut hay, harvest grains, smoke
meat and prepare for the colder months. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only the higher ups could afford good armor such as plate armor. The helmet kept
their head from getting injured. There chest plate was the biggest armor piece on
their body. It was also the heaviest, knights had to be strong to carry full body armor.
Not only did the knight need weapons and armor but he needed his horse that was
essential. The knights have to be close to their horse so they have trust.
In the medieval period there were a bunch of different weapons and inventions
created to make their life the easier. The knights were trained how to set up their
armor and fight on horses they had to do this. I hope you enjoyed reading this
The Role Of Women In EuripidesBacchae
Throughout Euripides Bacchae, there are plot elements, which seem out of place
for a tragedy, such as Pentheus frolicking around in women s clothing. However,
these out of place comedic elements serve as a way to highlight the underlying
conflicts in the play. One of these seemingly out of place plot elements is the
comedic way Agave handles the death of her child. On the surface, her comedic
behave or depicts women as foolish and weak, therefore making women seem
inferior to men. However understanding Agave s comedic behavior reveals the
underlying conflict between how women should behave in society versus how
they behave in the story. Therefore, understanding the way Agave handles the death
of her son emphasizes the role of women in the patriarchal Greek society.
Understand the underlying meaning of Agave s comical behavior illustrates the
oppression the women face in the patriarchal Greek society. On the surface, the
comedic way Agave handles her son s death presents women as foolish and weak.
Agave is oblivious that with hands alone . . . [she] caught [Pentheus] and tore
[him] limb from limb even though she holds his head in her hands (Bacchae 1209
/10). Consistently, Agave believes that the bloody item she holds in her hand is the
head of a lion, rather than the head of her own beloved child. Agave s obliviousness
is a form of dramatic irony, which Euripides uses on the surface to represent Agave,
as well as the other women, as rationally inferior to men. This

Abstract
Europe, the world s third continent in population is the second smallest continent by
area and encompasses more than 50 sovereign countries. Parts of Europe are also
some of the busiest airspaces in the world. It is inevitable that these countries have to
work closely together to optimize the use of airspace as well as the collection and
dissemination of weather information for civil aviation. The twenty seven countries

Europe s regulatory and organizational framework
Meteorological Services to International Air Navigation is on a global scale regulated
by two specialized agencies of the United Nations (UN): the World Meteorological
Organization (WMO) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The
WMO is the UN system s authoritative voice on the state and behavior of the Earth s
atmosphere, its interaction with the oceans, the climate it produces and the resulting
distribution of water resources (VWO, n.d) and (Yan, 2010). Via the Aeronautical
Meteorology Program (AeMP) the WMOs objective is to warrant a global reliable
availability of timely, cost effective and high quality meteorological services to
aviation (VWO, n.d). The WMO provides relevant regulations in the Technical
Regulations (WMO No.49) Volume II for Meteorological Service to International Air
Navigation. This publication is nearly identical to ICAOs Annex 3 to the Convention
on International Civil Aviation (WMO 2015). In addition to the Technical
Regulations the WMO creates and provides documentation on how to implement the
standard and recommended practices to its members on how to use meteorological
instruments at aeronautical meteorological
Us Involvement In The Cold War
I believe that the United States involvement in the Cold War had a significant
influence on the debate as well as the Supreme Court decision of the Brown v. Board
of Education case. After the Civil War ended, the Confederate states were in desperate
need of repair; consequently, the Reconstruction Period began, when the federal
government of the United Statesforced the states of the Deep South to outlaw slavery
and put great pressure on these states to reform their laws accordingly. It is during
this time, the second half of the nineteenth century, that the Deep South states began
to pass laws that segregated races in public and encouraged oppression of primarily
blacks. The segregation of races in the Deep South continued to worsen until it came
to the boiling point with the Brown v. Board of Education Case, which ultimately
would decide the fate of segregation laws in the South. Although it is obvious that
segregation is wrong and that the decision made by the Supreme Court was without
question the right one, the Cold War certainly did factor into the discussion of
segregation and race relations in the United States. This is due primarily to the fact
that the United States spearheaded the ideas of freedom and democracy as the best
foundations to for a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Board of Education, the US would be able to use the decision as a weapon to gain
global influence. Global influence was a key component of the Cold War, and so the
Supreme Court s decision would allow the United States to use it as proof that a free
democracy is the best type of government over Soviet communism. This was another
factor that played into the debate that encouraged the Supreme Court to outlaw
segregation. Overall, although the Supreme Court s decision was fundamentally the
correct decision to make, the benefits of the decision stretched beyond human rights

Dances With Wolves Stereotypes
Overcoming Stereotypes in the Movie, Dances With Wolves
Everyone has a preconceived opinion of how a certain ethnic group is in terms of
the way they live, the morals they hold, the way they deal with people different from
them, and how they deal with one another. We come to these conclusions by what we
have seen in the media, heard from other people, or actually experienced ourselves.
Most people would consider these opinions to be stereotypes. Dances with Wolves is
a motion picture that deals with and touches on all sides of personal stereotypes we
as American and American Indianshave about each other. John Dunbar takes us
through and allows us to see how it is to come into a situation he was not familiar
with and then eventually the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also came across intimidated by John because of his courage through this
miserable time. He saw Dunbar as someone he could never be and he didn t see his
life worth living anymore.
Going into the movie we did not really get a strong sense of how Dunbar thought of
the Indians. While he was journeying out to the frontier Dunbar asked Timmons, a
man that was taking him there, what he thought about Indians. With no hesitation at
all Timmons stated that they were all thieves, murderers, and savages. Dunbar didn t
ever state what he thought of the Indians. I got the impression that he really did not
have an opinion about them because he has never dealt with them. He seemed like
the type of guy that would not assume something without experiencing it for himself.
Everyone he talked to about Indians probably said the same things Timmons did, but
for some reason Dunbar was different from the rest. He seemed to be better than that.
The Indians are finally presented in the movie by the screen scanning across a wide
open desert very peaceful and deserted. In the middle of all this silence the camera
fell upon a skeleton of a human that we assume the Indians killed. This is how the
movie sets the tone for how we are going to think about the Indians. They play with
the stereotype that all us Americans think are true about the Indians. At first we think
that we were right, but the story does not end there.
The first encounter that Dunbar has with the Indians is when
Malaria Is A Preventable Disease
Part I: Background Malaria is a preventable disease transmitted by a female anopheles
mosquito that has a global annual death impact of over one million mainly
concentrated in sub Saharan Africa (Patricia Schlagenhauf Lawlor, Funk Baumann,
M., 2005, pg. 6)(1). Although malaria is almost unheard of in developed countries
like the United States, in the early 1900s malariawas just as prevalent as it is in sub
Saharan Africatoday. The United States has eradicated local malaria due to increased
finances and physician led public health missions in the 1940 s in the form of the
DDT campaign(Humphries, 2001, pg. 2). However, in underdeveloped countries
mainly located in tropical areas, the death toll to malaria continues to rise due to
challenges and barriers between accumulating hefty finances, adequate resources and
delivering affective outreach programs( Jennifer Kates, Michaud, J., Wexler, A.,
Valentine, A., 2013)(3). Malaria thrives in warm and human areas that have bounty
stagnant water sources ideal for breeding and egg nesting. Once bitten by a mature
anopheles mosquito the incubation time between infection and showing symptoms is
usually between 6 7 days (Patricia Schlagenhauf Lawlor, Funk Baumann, M., 2005,
pg. 10)(1). The common symptoms of malaria like chills, headache and perfuse
diaphoresis to name a few, exacerbate due to parasitic replication and destruction of
the bodies RBC. Once the cell is destroyed the merozites from the RBC disperse

Reflection on Hunger Essay
Food is one of the basic needs of a human being to survive. All of us depend on
food for having a good health, therefore with the lack of food many people will be
starving and malnourished. There are many reasons that may contribute to the
cause of world hunger. Historically, the society will continue to change as long as
there are people in the world. For what I know, the world had vastly changed from
60 years ago up to now. Whenever I m with my grandmother, she always told me
stories on how accessible and cheap it is to have food in the Philippines during her
teenage life. They used to have a small pond where there are tilapia and various
crops, vegetables and fruits in their backyard. This scenery was common in each
household even... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Genetically modified foods are genetically engineered by modifying the DNA to
make it tastier and have a better colour. This new technique has been introduce to
the world and has started to be practiced because of globalization. In my opinion,
people should stop improving and manifesting the GM food, and just focus on
planting trees, fruits and vegetable to be able to harvest foods the normal way and
find a ways on how to distribute foods in each human being. This will be a big help
with the problem of world hunger. World hunger will be one of the most serious
problems that the humanity will be facing if we will continue to ignore it.
Basically, when there is lack of production in food it will result to starvation and
famine if it gets worst. There are many things that can contribute with the
aggravation of world hunger. Firstly, climate change has a big impact with world
hunger. Climate change may affect food systems in several ways ranging from
direct effects on crop production (e.g. changes in rainfall leading to drought or
flooding, or warmer or cooler temperatures leading to changes in the length of
growing season), to changes in markets, food prices and supply chain infrastructure
(Gregory, Ingram Brklacich, 2005, p.2139). It can trigger a natural disaster like
drought and flood, which can have an extreme effect with the problems in the sources
of food. In one hand, drought is a common scenario in farm lands in which

An Open Letter For Friends And Family
An open letter to friends and family:
A Brief Intro/Background
This letter will no doubt be hard for many of you to read, I empathize as it was also
hard to write. I beg your patience and hope you read through to the end. What I
would like to convey to you is my recent shift in world view. That is to say that I
recently came to realize that I am an atheist.
This is likely shocking to most of you. Let me be clear by what I intend to convey by
identifying as such. I do not mean to say I am opposed to religion, or claim there is
no God. I still identify very much with LDS culture and attend church regularly.
Rather, I identify as an atheist as a way to convey that I seem to have lost Faith
that there is a God. Over the last year I have studied and ponder in depth to
discover as best I could truth. Before I get there I want to be clear as to the
perspective in which I am coming from.
I was raised in a very active and loving family of the LDS Church. My family is
still very active, my father and my mother have served in leadership roles. They
are both full of faith and charity and am grateful for their love and support
throughout my life. I, myself have served in leadership roles in the church both as a
young man and as a missionary for the church. I served a 2 year mission in west
Texas spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ as I understood it. I was married in an LDS
temple to my wonderful wife. My in laws are also very devout members of the LDS
church.
What I believed and
I Am My Own Villain And Procrastination
It s a race to the finish line in a typical workday in my world, and that finish line is
what I label to be the time clock. I have allowed this small, compact technology
device that is screwed into the concrete wall, to control my life Monday through
Friday. I know without a doubt, that if I punch that small button on time, the rest of
my day is guaranteed to be smooth sailing. You see, I m not a person that wakes up
refreshed, smelling the Folders coffee in the morning, while birds are singing
beautifully to me. I purposely pile on the stress and it creates this anxiety in my
life, mainly in the mornings while racing to get ready and drive to work. I have no
understanding to why I do this to myself, but I am my own villain and
procrastination is my toxic poison. There are many people that have morning
routines that they follow while getting ready, but me, I do whatever I want, when I
want, and because of that, my morning time is limited. Some days I do not have
time to pack a lunch, or even take our two dogs out to pee. Since my husband
works third shift, I depend on him to come home and do it for me. Making the first
move to get out of bed is always the toughest, plus getting ready for work is a
preparation from hell. Then, I have to hustle and bustle, and drive like a mad woman
to get to work on time. Every morning, my annoying alarm clockgoes off at 7:30, but
I turn it off and roll back over to knock out some more snooze time. Sometimes I ll
decide to get up and eat

  • 2. The Arlington National Cemetery Home The Arlington National Cemetery was established around the time of the Civil War. The United States needed a place to bury all of the dead soldiers, so they laid them down on the land of Robert E. Lee and his wife. Over the years, 300,000 soldiers have been buried there. They have also changed the qualifications to being buried in the cemetery. There are even a few famous war heroes who are buried there, not to mention the presidents who have been laid to rest. No matter how important a person is, calling Arlington National Cemeteryhome is an honor. In this paper, I will discuss how Arlington National Cemetery was established, what the requirements are to be buried there, and the statistics of the cemetery. Orton William was a cousin to... The army took Arlington without a scratch and the next morning it was flooded with Union members. The Union army soldiers stole souvenirs from the mansion which were left behind from the Lees. Arlington soon became a busy village full of army tents and even telegram posts connecting to the War office. Arlington started losing some of its famous beauty as the soldiers cleared many of the oak trees to clear a shooting path. With the fallen timber, they built permanent cabins and posted remounting stations near the river for the cavalry. Arlington was strengthened by the best to withstand against any attacking force. (Poole) Many of the slaves who became free during the war, headed to the capital city of Washington D.C.. The city became congested with slaves so they became sick and many of them started dying. A few of the officers came up with the idea to settle the former slaves on the property of Arlington. They viewed this as fitting, since Arlington was the former house of rebel leaders supporting slavery. The established village became known as Freedmen s Village. Surprisingly, Freedmen s Village had everything from schools and churches to houses and farmland; the farmers would grow crops which would feed the Union soldiers. (Poole) The same year the property was taken over, the U.S. Government authorized

  • 4. Grizzly Bear Research Paper Bears are one of my greatest fears, and the scientific name of this fear is called, ursaphobia. Bears are more dangerous than human beings, and bears could devour someone in one gulp. I once encountered a grizzly bear on a mountain, which was extremely startling to me. This jaw dropping adventure happened right outside Yellowstone National Park, while on a family vacation. One night, we decided to climb a steep mountain behind our cabin without any hesitation. My mother emphasized We had to stop before we hit the summit. We scaled approximately 100 feet up the mountain, and my mother was capturing a picture of our foolish family. All of a sudden my father whispered, Grizzly bear! The bear gradually started walking closer towards
  • 5. Child Labor During The Late 1900 S Essay Everyone can agree life has it s wonderful and egregious moments. Some people have a grand life with insufficient negativity. Others people have a miserable life and non imposing. In the late 1800 s and beginning to mid 1900 s, child labor caused several children to have an inimical life rather than a preeminent life. When people read what these children had gone through, they fail to remember to put themselves in the children s situation; therefore, they don t understand, nor cease how horrendous life was for the children. Numerous factual documents state how deplorable life was for the children during this era. Furthermore, these documents include the Union made Cigars, Finding of the Commission, the Law of 1913, the letter from WPA Teacher Union to Governor Lehman, and lastly a telegram from Mrs. of Nassau County to Governor Lehman. Schools today teach this time period to the students and share innumerable certainties of the children s lives. Ultimately, children in this life span had an atrocious duration. To inaugurate the child labor existence, the leading report selected is from the Union made Cigars. This first record revealed a label including the president s seal of approval affirming, This Certifies, that the Cigars contained in this box have been made by a First Class Workman, a MEMBER OF THE CIGAR MAKERS INTERNATIONAL UNION of America, an organization opposed to inferior rat shop, COOLIE, PRISON, or FILTHY TENEMENT HOUSE WORKMANSHIP. • 6. Coherence, Entanglement, And Topological Phases Of Quantum... I am a theoretical physicist working on quantum mechanical aspects of condensed matter and solid state physics. My past research highlights coherence, entanglement, and topology in condensed matter systems. These features are unique in quantum systems, and can give rise to phenomena that do not have classical counterparts. Target systems of my interest include mesoscopic/nanoscopic systems such as graphene, spintronics, topological insulators, and strongly correlated electronsystems such as quantum magnetism, unconventional superconductors, and the quantum Hall effect. More broadly, I am interested in quantum many body systems and quantum field theories in general. More specifically, one of my focuses in the last 10 years is to develop a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, the quantum Hall states, time reversal symmetric topological insulators, and one dimensional topological superconductors, all nicely fit into our classification scheme. Furthermore, our theory predicts the stability of the edge states of topological insulators/superconductors against disorder. Our classification scheme has been playing an important role in exploring to new topological materials. For example, based on our classification, we predicted the presence of novel three dimensional time reversal symmetric topological insulators. This prediction has been experimentally explored in the B phase of Helium, and in doped topological insulators. As illustrated by the above examples of topological phases, an important challenge in quantum condensed matter physics is: How do we characterize and study highly quantum and complex systems? This question is related not only to topological phases, but to systems at quantum critical points, systems that can undergo a many body localization transition in the presence of disorder, and eigen state thermalization that takes place for closed quantum systems at finite energy density, etc. In this regard, quantum entanglement has been establishing its status as an important common language in modern quantum many body physics, both in condensed matter and high energy physics contexts. It has been used to address many fundamental

  • 8. Society During The Great Depression During the great depression I think that our society thought of themselves as broken because of the state of our economy and the amount of people out of work. The country was at its lowest point having taken the biggest hit to the economy possible. Everyone looked at what was happening and saw nothing but a broken economy and a struggling people. They had to focus on feeding themselves and their family so when it came to time to think what their responsibility was to the rest of the world they couldn t get over how broken they were so they were no use to anyone else. They were to busy thinking of themselves to be of any help to any other people. When World War two started it pulled our society together once again to face a threat that was more
  • 9. Computer Engineering Personal Statement The fast moving technologies have revolutionized the world from the perspectives of reading, communication, entertainment, business, and so on. The desire to become part of the revolution drove me to choose software engineering as my major in the college. I am so obsessed with programming that I can sit in front of a computer coding for an entire day. Logical problem solving, which is readily visible in computing and programming, has motivated me to continue graduate studies in computer science(basically the major name here, it could be computer engineering or others depending on the program you will apply ). Especially, I m very interested in Networking and Human Computer Interaction, which are the representative of the speed of development in computer science and fundamental to achieve my career goal build software that can actually help people and easy to cope with. I want to help people like my grandparents to learn how to use the internet, to be able to talk to people they love when they are far away; I want to give the only child an e friend when they are alone; I want to help to clean our internet world and stop bullying. I enjoy applying programming to my studies and daily life in the sense that programming enhances my working efficiency and helps me solve challenging problems. In my freshman year, I designed an application to calculate the data from circuit experiments. Manual calculation of the tremendous amount of data readily leads to mistakes and in turn

Comparing the Female Protagonists in Groundhog Day and A P Role of the Female Protagonists in Groundhog Day and A P Groundhog Day, starring Bill Murray, is a film about a television weatherman named Phil who relives the same day, 2 March, over and over again. A P is a short story by John Updike in which a cashier, Sammy, has his routine day disrupted when three girls wearing swimming suits stroll into the grocery store where he works and are confronted by the manager. Though their storylines vary greatly, in both works the main character in each is a self centered, condescending male who eventually realises the flaws in his character. This realisation is, in part, brought out by supernatural forces in Groundhog Day and by a manager s harsh words in A P. However, in each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unlike Phil, she never tells a lie or says a harsh word about anyone. The character of Queenie is less developed she is only shown though the narrator s eyes as she walks through the supermarket with her two friends. However, she still represents something that Sammy is not: she is a leader and she is blithely unconventional; she is a challenge to the status quo. When Sammy sees the girls he comments You know it s one thing to have a girl in a bathing suit down on the beach. Where . . . nobody can look at each other much anyway, and another thing in the cool of the A P under the fluorescent lights . . . Sammy says nothing to indicate that he disagrees with the social norm. Queenie, however, sees no reason to adhere to such conventions. When scolded by the manager, she replies by saying, We are decent . It never occurs to her that what she has been doing might not be acceptable. Thus, Rita, the sensitive, caring person, and Queenie, the non conformist, act as possible role models for the male protagonists to aspire to: The attraction Phil feels toward Rita and Sammy feels toward Queenie is the motivating force that compels the men to change. • 11. Ethics of Nanotechnology Essay Ethics of Nanotechnology Nanotechnology is actually a fairly new idea. This may not seem like any big deal in terms of ethics, but just like any type of scientific advancement there are positives and negatives. Of course the ethical issues don t stem out of just the fact that this is a new kind of science. It branches off of what will this new scientific technology be used for? For example, Embryonic Stem Cell research. It s not the research that s bad it s how they get the cells. There are half a dozen, maybe more, different places to get the same type of cells without taking the life of that unborn child. The term, Nanotechnology, was first introduced back in the mid 1970 s by a Japanese researcher named Norio Taniguchi to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of the $700 million in funding that the National Nanotechnology Institute (NNI) received in 2003, less than $500,000 was spent on the study of how Nanotechnology could affect the environment. But typical to today s culture the immediate payback doesn t come from risk studies, as it does from how we can potentially cure diseases. When in the long run a little robot just might be able to cause a disease. Just as much as the public wants to know the risks the scientists working on the project have even more to lose from a fear of the unknown (Colvin). Along with these risks will come an entire set of ethical dilemmas. So how can we set rules so that free lance researchers or government scientists don t do something that the whole world might regret? One of the first guidelines which was set by the Foresight Institute, founded by Drexler, and supported by the non profit organization Center for Responsible Nanotechnology (CRN) is Nanotechnology s highest and best use should be to create a world of abundance where no one is lacking for their basic needs. Those needs include adequate food, safe water, a clean environment, housing, medical care, education, public safety, fair labor, unrestricted travel, artistic expression and freedom from fear and oppression (Ethics of Nanotechnology). If we know just a little about the life of Christ he once said that there would always be problems like this in the world, hunger, poor, oppressed ,

In Skid Row, California there was a burglary made to the police and these officers responded to it. Contemporary Style Interior Design Essay Key elements of contemporary style interior design Quite often modern and contemporary style interior design are considered as similar or even identical. But this is common mistake, and these are two different styles each having its own history and distinctive features. In this article, we will find out what characteristics contemporary style interior has, and how to use this style to make room comfortable, functional and cozy. First, it should be noted that contemporary style was formed in the second half of the twentieth century, and it has adopted certain features of other styles, which were widespread at that time. How Does Mary Oliver Use Imagery In Crossing The Swamp In Crossing the Swamp , Mary Oliver uses the Swamp as a metaphor for life s struggles when she states Here is swamp, here is struggle and continues to expound on this metaphor throughout the poem. She relates the physical characteristics of the swamp to going through a struggle and her use of literary devices helps to drive this metaphor. Through her use of tone and imagery, Oliver is able to show the transition of the relationship between the speaker and the swamp(struggles) from one of hopelessness to one of hopefulness. At the beginning of the poem, the tone is very hopeless. The swamp seems endless to the speaker, suggesting that they think the struggles they are facing will never be overcome. Similarly, the swamp is thick and
  • 16. Magna Carta Historical Documents DSPA There was many documents that influenced the writing of the constitution. Some people may say we stole parts from them, but I believe we borrowed them and made them better. We made them better because they were now part of the United States of America. From the Magna Carta to the Articles of Confederation, writings all around the world influenced the US constitution. Even though we copyrighted some of the constitution it is still one of the most ingenious writings in the world. The first document to influence the constitution was the Magna Carta. The Magna Carta declared everyone was subject to law, even the king. It also said that no one could be put through cruel or unusual punishment. Another thing it said was the everyone had the right to a fair trial and justice. Magna Carta means great charter in latin. It also included the right to speedy trial. The Magna Carta influenced many parts of the constitution. The first thing it influenced was that the king and government were bound to the same laws as the citizens. This means that the king and the government weren t above the law, just like the president and US government. Another thing that is similar is the right to a fair and speedy trial just like in the bill of rights. The last area that is similar is that no one could be put through cruel and unusual punishment. That is just one of many historical documents that influenced the constitution. The second historical document was the Mayflower Compact. The

The economy was expanding and the US became more interested in the well being of surrounding economies. The Dominican Republic was in debt to various European nations at this time. They were having problems paying their debts and chose to stop paying them. In response to this issue, President Theodore Roosevelt formulated an extension to the Monroe Doctrine. The Roosevelt Corollary, as it became to be known, gave the US the power to intervene with European powers coming west in an attempt to collect debts.2 The fear was that Europe, in an attempt to collect debts, would occupy and control the country in debt. With the Panama Canal on the scope, this would hinder economic stimulus in the US. President Roosevelt s beliefs are best captured in the Corollary when he stated: It is not true that the United States feels any land hunger or entertains any projects as regards the other nations of the Western Hemisphere save such as are for their welfare. All that this country desires is to see the neighboring countries stable, orderly, and prosperous. Any country whose people conduct themselves well can count upon our hearty friendship. If a nation shows that it knows how to act with reasonable efficiency and decency in social and political matters, if it keeps order and pays its obligations, it need fear no interference from the United States.

Government produced civil defense literature produced between 1964 and 1970 shows the government still had an interest in promoting the psychological purpose of civil defense. They had colonies that spanned from North America to South America. These colonies were lucrative assets to their respective mother countries of which were built on the backs of the colonies slave populations. The colonies in North America were controlled by the British while the Island of Saint Domingue was controlled by the French. The colonies oppressive mother countries constantly violated human rights and committed atrocities that the colonists and slaves grew tired of. The colonies wanted more political autonomy and freedoms that their mother countries failed to acknowledge or consider. Therefore, this left them with no choice but to start a revolution to reach their desired goal. In this essay, I will analyze the connections and similarities between the American Revolutionand events leading up to the Haitian Revolution. These factors include the impact the American Revolution had globally, the emergence of the French Revolution, and class struggles in Saint Domingue, which ultimately led to the Haitian Revolution. The American Revolutionary Warwas evoked by colonists longing for freedom and independence from their European mother country Great Britain. The colonists resentment grew over time by way of taxes being imposed on them and lack of political representation in the British Parliament. This resentment fueled the colonist

The train tracks and bus routes run through Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island, and the Bronx, unifying all five boroughs and improving the lives of everyone Beginning at $0.05 and going up to $2.50, one way bus fare has slowly been increasing since the MTA was founded. Although the cost depends mainly on how far the vehicle is traveling, this is the standard expense and the difference is significant. They are unable to adapt to these new conditions as fast as they are changing. There are many effects of global warmingthat is affecting the livelihood of many animals and in this essay I will explain how the effects are hurting the earths population of animals. What is Global Warming? Global warming is a gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth s atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and other pollutants. The Green House Effect is the process in which the absorption and emission of infrared radiation by gases in the atmosphere warm a planet s lower atmosphere and surface. These greenhouse gases traps some of the heat emitted by the Earth. The problem with global warming is that is an anthropomorphic problem. The human race is polluting and misusing our earth. Reutzel Grand Canyon University: LDR 600 October 27, 2011 Abstract Coaching and leadership seem to be synonymous with each other, in that if you re a high caliber coach you must be a great leader, how else would you have achieved your success. While coaching in the NCAA division 1 basketball the goal is to win national championships, while also being a mentor to your students. (Bob Carter) Integrity is the ability of a leader to live and lead with some principles and take responsibility for their actions. The ability to possess integrity should build confidence in your team. Integrity is probably where the two coaches will separate their styles of leadership. Coach Knight through the years did several things to damage that integrity, through his actions in Panama or ways he degraded assistant coaches or lecturing teams with the use of props of soiled toilet paper. There were many times where his actions did not represent the role which he was given and he made little effort to change unless he was forced. Coach K built much of what he was on his integrity; he stuck up for his players many times. Once his team was graded by the student paper, it was the fact that the paper portrayed the players as instruments of entertainment and ego indulgence; this infuriated the coach, which he later apologized. What Coach K stood for was a caring, communication and trust within the team, and that was what he wanted for the whole student body, and why his fan base was so strong. The last important trait style of leadership is the ability for a leader to seek out good pleasant social relationships. The leader should be thought of as friendly, outgoing, courteous, tactful and diplomatic. Coach Knight, I believe, started out his career with these traits as

Waters highlights how as a nation, Australia has come so far since the 20th century in terms of gay rights, yet there is still more work that needs to be done, to ensure all discrimination stops. Waters uses evidence from 1972 to highlight how inhumanely gay people were treated, including being dismissed from employment for being gay and that protestors against these practices were not looked upon favourably . Willett argues that the world view has changed, with the help of so many activists, bringing about fundamental changes in society s attitudes. Willett talks about the changes made up until 1997, however since then attitudes and legislation relating to homosexual people has become even more understanding and tolerant. In the early 20th century, gay and lesbian people were marginalised to the point of invisibility and demonization . He argues that before 1975, homosexual laws were some of the harshest laws that the government introduced. This was because there was a general sense of homophobia after the 1960 s, calling homosexual behaviour, sexual depravity. He cites Barry York demanding conjugal rights for prisoners to prevent prisons from being breeding grounds for homosexuality . He also draws on the homosexual attitudes in the paper, such as the Tribune in 1973 which states how John Sendy wanted the government to oppose gay liberation . However, Willett also uses evidence of people trying to change this law and fight for gay rights, such as Whitlam in 1970, who expressed support for decriminalisation of homosexual acts, and how in 1972, Lex Watson set out law reform abolishing all laws regarding discrimination against gay couples and sexual orientation, race and marriage status. He demanded public education campaign in schools to eradicate anti gay attitudes. Willett suggests these actions helped to reshape Australian society creating more understanding. By 1997 there was wider public acceptance and tolerance of homosexual people, with Mardi Gras parade being popularised, the decriminalisation of male homosexual behaviour, acceptance of lesbians and the recognition of gay custody rights in families and much stronger anti discrimination laws, all creating a powerful sense

In both The Day of the Last Rock Fight by Joseph Whitechill and Lather and Nothing Else by Hernando Tellez, the authors use fear driven characters who are in similar situations regarding immorality. However, the events leading to and reasoning behind their thoughts remain very different despite the fact that the circumstances they find themselves in are alike in nature. This is portrayed through the barber and Ronnie s contrasting beliefs and impact from society. It is also shown through the variance in the decision making process carried out by the two individuals. Ronnie habitually makes hasty decisions that will benefit himself, whereas the barber makes calculated and selfless decisions. Through the two stories it is explained that the latter will result in a better conclusion, as being selfish and too quick to act can lead to unexpected personal and external conflicts. The pitfalls include, failing to respond to employee emails, failing to provide feedback positive or negative, acknowledging people only when they make mistakes, failing to celebrate victories, showing favoritism, and burning out employees. Committing pitfalls in leadership The first pitfall Comaford (2013) discusses is Failing to Respond to Employee Emails . This pitfall is essentially not making enough time to respond and/or not responding quickly enough to employees, specifically in emails. By not responding to your employees email in a timely manner, or simply not responding at all makes the employees mind panic and the employee begin to question themselves and their importance in the company. I have had this happen in my previous workplace with my district manager. When examining demographic information published by College Board Inc. and ACT Inc., it is evident that there exists a widening gap between the scores of African American adolescents on the SAT, or the Scholastic Aptitude Test, and the ACT, or American College Test. Statistics from the 2013 SAT show African American students earning scores of 431 in critical reading, 429 in mathematics, and 418 in writing (College Board, 2013). On the ACT in the 2013 year, the average composite score for African American test takers was 18.2. In comparison to their racial and ethnic counterparts, African Americans scored lower in every subject area than every other test taker. Frequently this gap in scores has been attributed to a number of factors including a student s socioeconomic status, teacher qualifications, and school s lack of access to academic resources. Instead, one should look to the theory of stereotype threat. In summation, stereotype threat is being at risk of confirming a negative stereotype threat about one s group (Steele Aronson, 1995). One may question: To what extent does stereotype threat lead to African American adolescents underperforming in academic settings? Stereotype threat negatively affects African American students in that it produces self fulfilling prophecies causing African American adolescents to underperform on college entrance exams. II.

European settlers felt that the aboriginal people were savage, ignorant, and like children needed guidance, and needed to be civilized . The Canadian government came up with a policy called aggressive assimilation to be taught at industrial schools that would be run by the churches and government funded. Arachne and Minerva takes an etiologically relates the origin of spiders, created to curse Arachne, and explaining that they weave webs to remind her of her hubris (Sanan and van Loveren 153). For Bascom, a secondary qualification to be a valid myth is that, their main characters are not usually human beings, but they often have human attributes, animals, deities, or culture heroes, and here, Athena the goddess behaves like a person would (4). We see even the goddess of wisdom being prone to jealousy in Athena s internal monologue, To praise is not enough; I should have praise myself, proving even Athena can be affected by human hamartias like resentment (Ovid 1). Contrary to some religious ideals of an immaculate Demiurge, the Greek Pantheon mirrored the unpredictable nature of Greek society, and thus the gods had supernatural abilities paired with anthropomorphic personalities. This adds greater importance to Bascom s criteria of deity characters with human attributes, because these trusted gods controlled lives of the Greek and Roman people, yet they were just as temperamental as humanity. Viewing the myth through a euhemeristic lens, it is even possible Arachne was a conceited weaver from a small

One of the many victims of hate crimes during Civil Rights Movement was Willie Brewster. He was not just any Negro, but a revolutionary martyr. Always a diligent man, many whites were envious of him. Unfortunately, he was shot, and the world may never understand why. Although this may be, Brewster had proved something that was significant to the movement. Brewster s death was wrongful because he had a family, and he received racially biased treatment when he was admitted into the hospital. There was no reasonable explanation for the murder, but his death proved the innocence of Negroes.Willie was born on April 27, 1927 in the South and he passed away on July 18, 1965. However, these out of place comedic elements serve as a way to highlight the underlying conflicts in the play. One of these seemingly out of place plot elements is the comedic way Agave handles the death of her child. On the surface, her comedic behave or depicts women as foolish and weak, therefore making women seem inferior to men. However understanding Agave s comedic behavior reveals the underlying conflict between how women should behave in society versus how they behave in the story. Therefore, understanding the way Agave handles the death of her son emphasizes the role of women in the patriarchal Greek society. Understand the underlying meaning of Agave s comical behavior illustrates the oppression the women face in the patriarchal Greek society. On the surface, the comedic way Agave handles her son s death presents women as foolish and weak. Agave is oblivious that with hands alone . . . [she] caught [Pentheus] and tore [him] limb from limb even though she holds his head in her hands (Bacchae 1209 /10). Consistently, Agave believes that the bloody item she holds in her hand is the head of a lion, rather than the head of her own beloved child. Agave s obliviousness is a form of dramatic irony, which Euripides uses on the surface to represent Agave, as well as the other women, as rationally inferior to men. This

  • 48. Us Involvement In The Cold War I believe that the United States involvement in the Cold War had a significant influence on the debate as well as the Supreme Court decision of the Brown v. Board of Education case. After the Civil War ended, the Confederate states were in desperate need of repair; consequently, the Reconstruction Period began, when the federal government of the United Statesforced the states of the Deep South to outlaw slavery and put great pressure on these states to reform their laws accordingly. It is during this time, the second half of the nineteenth century, that the Deep South states began to pass laws that segregated races in public and encouraged oppression of primarily blacks. The segregation of races in the Deep South continued to worsen until it came to the boiling point with the Brown v. Board of Education Case, which ultimately would decide the fate of segregation laws in the South. Although it is obvious that segregation is wrong and that the decision made by the Supreme Court was without question the right one, the Cold War certainly did factor into the discussion of segregation and race relations in the United States. While he was journeying out to the frontier Dunbar asked Timmons, a man that was taking him there, what he thought about Indians. With no hesitation at all Timmons stated that they were all thieves, murderers, and savages. Dunbar didn t ever state what he thought of the Indians. I got the impression that he really did not have an opinion about them because he has never dealt with them. Malaria Is A Preventable Disease Part I: Background Malaria is a preventable disease transmitted by a female anopheles mosquito that has a global annual death impact of over one million mainly concentrated in sub Saharan Africa (Patricia Schlagenhauf Lawlor, Funk Baumann, M., 2005, pg. 6)(1). Although malaria is almost unheard of in developed countries like the United States, in the early 1900s malariawas just as prevalent as it is in sub Saharan Africatoday. The United States has eradicated local malaria due to increased finances and physician led public health missions in the 1940 s in the form of the DDT campaign(Humphries, 2001, pg. 2). However, in underdeveloped countries mainly located in tropical areas, the death toll to malaria continues to rise due to challenges and barriers between accumulating hefty finances, adequate resources and delivering affective outreach programs( Jennifer Kates, Michaud, J., Wexler, A., Valentine, A., 2013)(3). Malaria thrives in warm and human areas that have bounty stagnant water sources ideal for breeding and egg nesting. Once bitten by a mature anopheles mosquito the incubation time between infection and showing symptoms is usually between 6 7 days (Patricia Schlagenhauf Lawlor, Funk Baumann, M., 2005, pg. 10)(1). All of us depend on food for having a good health, therefore with the lack of food many people will be starving and malnourished. For what I know, the world had vastly changed from 60 years ago up to now. This will be a big help with the problem of world hunger. World hunger will be one of the most serious problems that the humanity will be facing if we will continue to ignore it. Basically, when there is lack of production in food it will result to starvation and famine if it gets worst. There are many things that can contribute with the aggravation of world hunger. Firstly, climate change has a big impact with world hunger. Climate change may affect food systems in several ways ranging from direct effects on crop production (e.g. changes in rainfall leading to drought or flooding, or warmer or cooler temperatures leading to changes in the length of growing season), to changes in markets, food prices and supply chain infrastructure (Gregory, Ingram Brklacich, 2005, p.2139). It can trigger a natural disaster like drought and flood, which can have an extreme effect with the problems in the sources of food. In one hand, drought is a common scenario in farm lands in which
