Description Of A Room Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of describing a room might seem deceptively simple at first glance,
but as one delves into the task, the complexities and challenges begin to unfold. The difficulty
lies not in the lack of material to discuss – after all, a room is filled with tangible and
intangible elements waiting to be articulated – but rather in the art of conveying a vivid and
engaging portrayal that captures the essence of the space.
The challenge begins with the need to transcend mere physical description. While detailing the
color of the walls, the arrangement of furniture, and the play of light may be straightforward, the
true difficulty arises in infusing these details with life. Conveying the atmosphere, the emotions
evoked by the room, and the significance of its elements requires a delicate dance with words.
Striking the right balance between concrete details and poetic expression is a tightrope walk that
demands precision and finesse.
Moreover, the challenge extends to avoiding clichГ©s and generic descriptions. Anyone can
label a room as "cozy" or "spacious," but the task is to find unique and evocative language that
paints a distinct picture. It's about steering clear of the commonplace and embracing the
idiosyncrasies that make the room special.
Additionally, the difficulty intensifies when trying to maintain a coherent and organized
structure. A room is a microcosm of details, and weaving them into a seamless narrative requires
careful planning. Choosing what to highlight, deciding on the sequence of descriptions, and
ensuring a logical flow are aspects that contribute to the complexity of the task.
In essence, while describing a room may appear straightforward, the challenge lies in elevating
the narrative beyond the mundane. It involves transforming the mundane into the extraordinary,
using words as brushes to paint a vivid and compelling picture. It is the fusion of creativity,
attention to detail, and linguistic finesse that renders this seemingly simple task a nuanced and
demanding endeavor.
For those who find themselves grappling with this challenge, seeking assistance is a viable
option. Similar essays and a wealth of writing support can be found on platforms like

Leadership Comparison and Critique Essay
Leader Comparison and Critique: Steve Jobs Indra Nooyi
Lauren Murphy

In 1978, J.M. Burns defined successful leaders as being transformational rather than
transactional. Burns described the transformational leader as having recognized the
organization as a complex system in a chaotic environment. The leader has also
responded to complexity by being aware of change. The transformational leader has
established a shared vision and inspired the organization to learn and evolve in
response to change. Transformational leaders have driven radical change, trading
short term stability for long term survival. In 2007, Kouzes and Posner refined Burn
s work by breaking down the transformational leader s ... Show more content on

Leaders demonstrate their intense commitment to the values they espouse by
setting an example. It s how they earn and sustain credibility over time. Setting the
Example is all about execution and action. It s all about doing what you say.
Leaders who are seen as practicing what they preach are more effective than those
leaders who don t. (Kouzes Posner, 94) As successful as Steve Jobs appears to be,
there are some leadership qualities that need to be improved. One such behavior
would be model the way (Kouzes Posner, 45) Steve Jobs has not established
principles concerning the way people should be treated, nor does Jobs create
standards of excellence as a leadership example for others to follow. In fact, this
leader has been known to scream at employees to the point of hyperventilation.
(Pomiewozik, 2000) This leader has also been guilty of failing to follow through
on promises and commitments. As an employer, Jobs was obligated to
compensate employees for work as agreed upon in the job contract. That obligation
to compensate employees was not followed through when Jobs fired a P.R.
consultant and refused to pay the employee for completed work. (Pomiewozik,
2000) The demeaning attitude of this leader should not serve as an example for
employees. On one occasion Steve Jobs played a cruel joke on an employee by
pretending to offer the employee a position as Apple C.E.O. (Pomiewozik, 2000)

Situation analysis Important internal controls that were ignored?
The auditors of Enron did fail in their task of providing a duty of care to all of the
parties. The main reason for this is that they failed to correctly audit the assets and
financial position of Enron resulting in all stakeholders having no clue about the
forthcoming collapse of Enron. This resulted in the stakeholders facing a very
critical condition or a phase where in they were not sure if they would be able to
recover their investments and debts or not. The auditing process has revealed several
issues and findings of problems within the accounting system and the same have
been discussed as the primary areas of exposure, areas of possible mishandling of

Pacts, specifically in the financial department were done rapidly without scrutinizing
whether they were harmony with organizations risk management rule or goals.
3. Opportunity is one factor that can explain why falsifying of financial statement is
occurring frequently it is common through weakness in the internal controls which
includes insufficient supervision and review by board of directors of some
organization, separation of duties, oversight and management approvals that are not
consistent with the organization goals as well as system controls. Pressure also is
another factor which relates from non realistic time frames and performance targets
arising from conspiracies between employees and third parties.
4. When there is lack of clarity or any unclear financial report that is most of the
times inconsistent like in the case of Enron, this is a clear indication of a red flag
some one especially auditors under strict supervision should consider taking action.
Investigations and analysis in fraud cases consistently show that red flags were
actually present and that there were in many instances recognized or upon
recognition they were never acted upon. When red flags are discovered suitable
action should be swift though, mistakes are most times errors types
Jim Jonesown And The American Dream
Jonestown In the 1970 s, when the dark skinned people didn t fit in yet, when there
was still so much discrimination and segregation going on, and when the
American Dream was barely getting realized as a lie, Jim Jones was there to save
those people in trouble. Unfortunately, he did not end up being much of a hero but
more of a psychopath. He provided a sense of leadership to those who wanted
something or someone to follow. People in the 1970 s were still struggling to fight
for justice and equality, and Jim Joneswanted to fight with them. Nobody would have
ever imagined that someone who seemed to have all the right intentions, someone
who took in the homeless, who cared for the elderly, fought for equality, and many
more good things , would cause the largest mass suicide in modern history (Nelson,
Jonestown). The Peoples Temple was a place for all kinds of people to go and feel
like they were important (Nelson, Jonestown). The drug addicts, alcoholics,
browns, blacks, whites, elderly, convicts, all of these people were welcomed to the
Peoples Temple by Jim Jones and he made them feel like they finally belonged
somewhere; he made them feel loved for once in their life. Jim Jones would say he
was their god and all the people in the temple would believe him and praise him but
only because he would say all the right things (Nelson, Jonestown). When he talked at
the meetings he would say all the right things that the people wanted to hear and that

Spector s Argument Essay
Climate change is real there is no denying it. NASA Climate Change found that the
global temperature has risen 1.7 degrees since 1880. This may sound minimal, but
it has caused the melting of 281.1 billion tons of land ice a year, led to a sea level
rise of 3.4 millimeters per year, and a 13.3% loss of arctic ice. This has been
caused by an increase in carbon dioxide. Everyone knows that walking to school
and turning off the lights when you exit the room will help, but this is not the root
cause, and thus, not the way to solve the problem. We must address the problem at
the root cause energy. When fossil fuels such as coal, gas or oil are burnt, they
produce carbon dioxide, a heat trapping gas that is responsible for the sea levels
rising,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I originally reasoned that renewable energy was effective and because it could not
run out, it was a much better option. But, the credibility and reasoning of Spector s
argument, along with the fallacious arguments of the Union of Concerned
Scientists, I now believe that renewable energy is not beneficial to energy
companies. After looking at numerous articles, it was clear that the UCS
purposefully overlooked many facts that rendered their argument, and article,
useless. They had disregarded the sheer ineffectiveness of renewable energy and
the previous failures of implementing renewable energy (Jogulekar, Scientific
American). For example, Germany, a world leader in renewable energy, tried to go
all solar, but they failed, having to eventually import nuclear energy from France
and opening up coal plants. Jogulekar asserts that Germany would have created
less carbon dioxide if they simply stuck to nuclear energy. Spector asserts that a
100% renewable energy grid is far from beneficial, it is not even feasible. Looking
at all arguments, I agree with Spector and that nuclear energy should be
implemented and is far more beneficial to energy companies for a few reasons
because of its reliability, its low carbon emission and its extreme efficiency. I have
come to the conclusion that switching to renewable energy is not beneficial to
energy companies as there are many other low carbon alternatives. Spector s
arguments and his article is more reliable than the UCS s. For this reason, renewable
energy is not beneficial to energy companies, and nuclear energy, because it is more
efficient and reliable, should be
The City Of Cincinnati Police Officer
In 2001, the city of Cincinnati had the largest civil riots since the 1992 Rodney King
riots in Los Angeles. The riots were so intense they lasted from August 9 13. The
civil disorder was sparked when a Cincinnati Police patrolman Stephen Roach killed a
19 year old African American named Timothy Thomas. Given the publicity of this
event, the Cincinnati PoliceDepartment had to undergo a variety of changes,
including the hiring process. As a result, the current hiring process is considered to
be one of the best in the nation. There are several minimum requirements that must
be satisfied for one to be eligible to be a Cincinnati police officer. First, each
applicant must be 21 years old at the date of appointment. Second, each applicant
must have a high school diploma or GED while a bachelor s degree in criminal
justice is strongly preferred. Third, each applicant must have a valid driver s
license with at least one year of driving experience must be a U.S. Citizen or in a
process of U.S. Naturalization. No previous law enforcement experience is required.
Military veterans will be given small preference given their experience. Once the
minimum requirements are satisfied, the applicant must pass a very comprehensive
disqualification checklist. For instance, any person who has been convicted of a
felony in the court of law will be disqualified for life and unable to serve as a police
officer. Furthermore, any person who admits to committing or attempting to commit
a crime

The Muslim Community
The Muslim community has faced many microassaults, microinsults, and
microinvalidations in America. The microassaults reflect the conscious
discrimination about a population. Many of the microassaults consisted of people
stating that Arabs or Middle Eastern citizens are terrorists. Because of September
11, 2011, many have condemned one group of citizens as the reason for war in
America. The microinsults consisted of every Muslim that comes to an airport
being required to be checked, in hopes of safety. However, it is an unconscious
insult to the Muslim population. The microinsults are often unconscious acts against
a population. Due to the beliefs that the terrorists who caused the plane crashes
during September 11 were Arabs, many wanted to be sure that many other Middle
Easterners didn t feel comfortable bringing more terror to America.
Microinvalidations come into place when individuals approve the searches of
Middle Eastern families in airports. Some may have the idea that while everyone
may not be a terrorist, checking every Middle Eastern family will narrow the
chances of terrorist attacks. Muslim experience microinvalidations when one is
insensitive to their feelings or experience as whole. There are many misconceptions
that are assumed about the Arab and Muslims American culture. Many of these
misconceptions derive from experiences as a country, as well as personal
experiences as a culture. Because of the on going stereotypical remarks, the Arab
culture suffer
Parmalat Case Study
What is the role that Parmalat s management and its accounting department played in
this case? Parmalat was founded in 1961 in Northern Italy. The company eventually
grew into one of the largest diary and food company in Italy and eventually became
a multinational conglomerate with 214 subsidiaries in 48 different countries. In
1990, the company s financial performance began to slip. Instead of resolve the
problems, Parmalat executives and managements used a wide range of unethical
techniques to disguise them. For instance, they used receivables from fake sales as
collateral to borrow money from bank, created fake assets by inflating reported
assets, and took legitimate debt from investors (Glater, 2004). Additionally,
executives worked with investment bankers to move debt off balance sheetand
disguised it as equity. Lastly, they conspired with third party auditors and bankers
to further finance the fraud (Rimkus, 2016). As a result, Parmalat collapsed with
debts of €14 billion in 2013. It is considered to be Europe s biggest corporate
failure and often known as Europe s Enron (Segreti, 2010).
Compare and contrast the U.S. GAAP and the IFRS; which is a better system, and
why? Should the United States move to IFRS? There are many similarities and
differences between the US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP)
and the International Financial Reporting Standards) IFRS. According to

Margaret Sanger Vs Betty Friedan
Throughout history, leaders of political and social movements have designed slogans
and catchphrases to mobilize ordinary citizens into political and social activists.
Historically, activists such as Nelson Mandela, Mohandas Gandhi, Dr. Martin Luther
King Jr., Rosa Parks, and countless others have, in their speeches and writings,
created a perfect pairing of words that persists in the mind of the listener. Two such
activists of the Twentieth Century were Margaret Sangerand Betty Friedan. Friedan
and Sanger greatly influenced the women s rights movement; despite both being
feminists, however, their personal beliefs in terms of other civil rights movements
often fell at opposite ends of the spectrum. Both Friedan and Sanger popularized
phrases which empowered their respective followers and similar activists to push
back against a system designed to repress them; the phrases that the two activists
used, however, reflected their different brands of activism and revealed their
differences of opinion on who mattered both for and in the Women s Rights
Movement. : Sanger with the phrase birth control and Friedan with the term feminine
mystique.
Betty Friedan, who lived from 1921 2006, constructed her activism through her
writing. She wrote for trade unions and magazines, and later, at the age of 42,
published her best known work The Feminine Mystique. This book stirred up a
following among urban, white, middle class American women who felt that their

Charismatic Gifts Debate Essay
Charismatic Gifts Debate By Mark Jones Theo 350 B05 September 26, 2010 1
The Charismatic Gifts Debate For my research paper I choose the charismatic gifts
debate because coming from a Pentecostal/Charismatic background growing up in
church, I know a little about the gift. With growing up in a Charismatic church, I
saw the gifts in action. There is a lot of debate on whether the gift is relevant for
today or have they ceased from the church. One side says that the gifts are in the
past and is not relevant for the day that we live in and another side says that the
gifts are still relevant for today. There is one group that says that if you do speak in
tongues, then you are under demonic control and are not really saved. Both... Show

Again we need to look at how the Bible uses these words. In John 17:3 it says that
This is eternal life that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ
whom you have sent. (New American Standard Bible, 1995 revised). In that verse
it talks about how having eternal life is to also knowing God. Also only the
believer is known by Jesus (John 10:27; Gal. 4:8 9; Romans 8:29). The unbeliever
is not known by Jesus (Matt. 7:21 23). In every verse except for one, God says that
he knows only the believers. Knowing this is a kind of salvation knowing, it is a
kind of knowing that God gives to the Christians. He knows them and knows that
they are saved. The unbelievers are not known and therefore are not saved. It would
seem to be consistent with scripture to say that ...as I m fully known would refer to
salvation relationship between the Christians and Jesus Christ. When the return of
Christ comes, we as Christians will see him face to face. Another argument is that
present day tongues are further revelation and then must be equal to scripture and
ought to be included into the Bible. But since the Bible has nothing to add to it, the
gift of tongues must no longer be valid. The problem with this argument is that faulty
because recognizes revelation that cannot be added into the Bible. 1 Cor. 14:26 talks
about the church in Corinth were revelations were revealed that were not included in
the Bible. In this verse it
Rave Culture Research Paper
Our Perspective on Rave Culture Imagine being a part of a world with no judgment,
no body standards, no prejudice, and no hatred. Continue to imagine being in a lively
environment around people who are loving, and only care for unity and respect
between themselves and others. Being a member of rave culture has made this
fantasy a reality for many people throughout the years. In this paper I will be focusing
on this unique phenomenon called raveculture and its integral elements in the form of
history, drugs, personal identity, acceptance, and the constant attempt to improve the
negative image of the culture the public eye.
Rave culture is based around Electronic Dance Music, which is best known as EDM.

This overall acceptance all falls back to PLUR, where the spiritual aspect of this
dance culture is acknowledged by few, and is appreciated by all that are involved.
These individuals do not have to imagine being a part of a world with no
judgment, body standards, prejudice, or hatred. They live this life every day, they
don t have to attempt to imagine being in a entertaining environment around people
who are loving and caring because they have experienced these things first hand.
The overall discussion of the history of rave culture and where it began will
continue to lead to the never ending worry about drug use in the community. When
examining rave culture one has to look towards the positive aspects. These ravers
find their personal identity and live under an ethos of peace, love, unity, and respect.
These individuals will battle acceptance due to the common misconceptions of
society, but there are many things any individual can do to clean the image of rave
culture for the public eye. Rave culture is a phenomenon that needs to be positively
executed due to all of the exceptional discoveries one can make about the person they
are and the person they wish to

and thus was found to be better than the bacterial consortium DAS reported by

was carried out. The absorption spectra of RO16 before and after treatment by
Lysinibacillus sp. RGS in visible range were taken. Peak responsible for absorption

Compare And Contrast The Epic Of Gilgamesh And The
Flood
When examining the story of the Biblical flood, it is essential to point out that
there are other flood stories in Ancient Near Eastern cultures. In fact, there are up to
sixty eight different cultures with stories of a great flood! It is important for one to
see how each flood story affects and influences one another. For example, it is
evident that the Babylonian culture influenced the writer of the Biblical flood story,
which was made hundreds of years after the making of the Babylonian story. One of
the greatest examples of this is in The Epic of Gilgamesh, a Babylonian story that
includes the tale of Utnapishtim, a man some would like to say is similar to the
character Noah in a few ways. Both men are called upon by a being of higher... Show

As stated in the article Background Info on the Flood Stories , each story has
unique elements, and the differences from the Biblical story are often more striking
than the similarities . For example, in the Atrahasis Epic, one of the gods in the
story punishes humanity because of the amount of noise made and in The Epic of
Gilgamesh, the god Enlil destroys the city where Utnapishtim is living
in(presumably furious with mankind). In the Genesis Flood Story, the Yahwist
version depicts YHWH as regretting His creation, while the Priestly version depicts
God as tired of human corruption. In all three stories, the gods send the flood for
similar reasons; they are angry with humanity. However, this is where the similarities
end. In Genesis, God floods the world in the pursuit of justice/regret, while the god
in Atrahasis is angry for a less significant offense. Though flooding the world is an
unjustified action, it is interesting that a god would be irritated enough at noise to
want to eradicate humanity. These stories are all more intriguing when compared
because it helps us to better understand the motivations of each being that causes the
flood event.Again, in the article Background Info on the Flood Stories , the author
talks about how each of these stories have a different religious interpretation than the
Biblical flood story. This is especially since the people involved(Noah,

Plot Summary and Review of The Manchurian Candidate
Essay
The suspenseful thriller, The Manchurian Candidate, was directed by John
Frankenheimer, and written by George Axelrod. The movie is based on a 1959
novel written by Richard Condon. It was released in 1962 but was pulled after the
assassination of John F. Kennedy, only to be re released in 1987 and remade in 2004.
The Manchurian Candidateis a movie about a government conspiracy mainly
involving a former Korean Prisoner Of War, Sergeant Raymond Shaw, played by
Laurence Harvey who was thought to have been brainwashed by the Communists to
be an assassin. A battle to find out exactly what is going on is fought by another

There are specific messages portrayed throughout the movie, mostly by
characterizations. I happened to notice that when Ben Marco was having his
reoccurring dream, the audience was white and so were most of the people. When
the African American man was having the same reoccurring dream, most all of the
people in it were African American. Mrs. Iselin s admiration for Abraham Lincoln
in my own opinion is due to the fact that he was a Loyalist and not a Communist,
and she hates Communists, and he was also a great and powerful leader of our
nation. These were her goals not only for herself but also for her son and her
husband. She even made her husband dress up as Abraham Lincoln for the
costume party she hosted and she had a huge picture of Abraham Lincoln hanging
over her fireplace in her home, as well as in her dining room. The message the
audience gets about politicians and politics of that time period are that they may
have been a bit corrupt. She and her husband were not playing by fair rules to win
his nomination, and they were even going to the extent as to have his opponent
killed. Ironically, when John F. Kennedy was assassinated, this movie probably
contributed to the different conspiracies of his death because of the parallel of the
winner of the presidency in this film being shot. You also get the
Dignity In The Crucible
The Crucible Assertion Essay
Arthur Miller s play, The Crucible, asserts the fact that dignity and the feeling of
being important is worth more than anything in this world. We can see this when
John Proctor hesitates to sign the paper full of lies, even if it means freedom. Then
when they finally get him to sign it somehow, he refuses to let them post his
confession on the door of the church. Furthermore, we see it s not just John Proctor
who doesn t want to confess for something he didnt do, we see hale trying to help
him out. , (i needed to study for my ap calculus test today so i didn t put that much
effort pls tell me if my basic format is right or not). We can also confirm these
things when Proctor says A man will not cast away his good name. You surely
know that.(102) , She only thought to save my name! (105), and finally Because it
is my name! Because I cannot have another in my life! Because I lie and sign
myself to lies! Because I am not worth the dust on the feet of them that hang! How
may I live without my name? I have given you my soul; leave me my name! (133).
The author s purpose is to show how much name and dignity is important in this
world and he showed in a form of a drama genre book. The tone in this book was
mostly aggressive. When John Proctor says, Because it is my name! Because I
cannot have another in my life! Because I lie and sign myself to lies! Because I am
not worth the dust on the feet of them that hang! How may I live without
Life Without Water Life Essay
Water, Life Cannot Exist Without It Water is the world s most natural resource
and without it there would be no life on earth. Nature limits our available supply of
water. Virtually all of human uses require fresh water. 97% of the Earth s water is
salt water and only 2.5% is fresh water of which over two thirds is frozen in glaciers
and polar ice caps. The unfrozen freshwater is mainly ground water with only a
fraction on the surface. Fresh water is a renewable resource but the world usage of
clean water is resulting in a steadily decreasing supply. There is a process know as
Desalination which is an artificial process by which saline water (sea water) is
converted into fresh water. This process is known as reverse osmosis.... Show more

Many cities in these areas use every drop of water available locally. Water levels in
wells in these areas have dropped as much as several feet in the past 30 years. A
man made aqueduct is being built to bring water to Tucson from the Colorado
River which is more than 200 miles away. Los Angeles and other cities in Southern
California draw their fresh water from as far as 340 miles away. New York, San
Francisco and Denver also rely on water imported from large distances. Population
growth continues at an extremely fast pace throughout the world which makes it
essential to survival of life to find ways to conserve and preserve this precious
resource. Now is the time to realize that in order to sustain life on earth there is a
need to come up with efficient and effective way to preserve and protect the earth
and resources for future generations. Every day use of water and the impact on the
supply needs to be examined for areas of improvement. For example, a hamburger

Barium Enema Essay
Everyone should know that a lower GI is a very common and important exam used
to diagnose many colon conditions. A lower GI examination, also know as a barium
enema, is an x ray examination of the large intestine. The large intestine, or large
bowel, consists of the entire colon, including the appendix, rectum, and sigmoid
colon. This commonly performed test is essentially the predecessor to the more
familiar colonoscopy. A lowerGI is used worldwide to help diagnose fatal diseases
and many other problems that affect the large intestine.
Some of the reasons that your doctor might order this exam are if you are
experiencing diarrhea, constipation, blood in your stool, unexplained weight loss,
anemia, to screen for colon polyps or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The barium is then released from the bag and begins to flow slowly into your
colon. As the barium begins to fill your bowel you will feel some pain and
pressure, and an urgency to have a bowel movement. The doctor will watch the
barium as it moves through your intestine on a TV screen, using a special live x
ray called fluoroscopy. You will be asked to turn to different positions, and the
table may be tilted slightly to help the barium flow through your colon and to take
x rays from different directions. Sometimes a slightly different version of the test
may be done. It is called a double contrast barium enema. If a double contrast study
is being done, the barium will be drained out, and then air will be injected into your
colon. As you can imagine with the air contrast study, the amount of cramping and
pain increases, due to the expansion of the bowel with air. After all of the films are
taken the enema tube is removed, and you are taken to the restroom to expel the
remaining barium and air. One or two films may be taken afterwards, to check how
much barium is remaining in your bowel. The entire test takes anywhere from thirty
minutes to one hour. After the exam you may resume a regular diet, and be sure to
drink plenty of liquids to replace those you have lost and to help flush the remaining
barium out of your system.

literature, not only because it explores some of the most profound questions we
humans ask about their lives, but also because it is extremely well written. Job
divides readily into a prologue in prose, a poetic main division and an epilogue, also
in prose:
The prologue or back story narrates how, with the permission of God, a holy man
Job is tried by Satan with severe afflictions, in order to test his virtue. In succession
Job bears six great temptations with heroic patience, and without the slightest

Barbara Bodichon s Suffrage Movement
Barbara Bodichon committed herself to furthering the women s suffrage movement
in a patriarchal England by publishing works in her feminist newspaper, petitioning
Parliament, and by founding the first college in England that offered degree level
education to women. Bodichon was an artist, feminist, and activist. She dedicated her
life to fighting for equality, specifically in marriage. As a womanin Victorian England,
she faced a ruling body of mostly married men who were opposed to change in their
households, especially with their wives. Founding Girton College, which offered a
higher level education for women, is her most recognized legacy, although her works
extended far beyond that.
The fight for women s rights in England exploded in the mid nineteenth century and
saw figures like John Stuart Mill and Emmeline Pankhurst publishing feminist
articles. The desire for equal rights had already existed and the leaders of the
movement gave these women a voice. Goals varied depending on who was asked,
but the overall goal of being equal with or closer to being equal with men was
prevalent to them all. Some desired complete equality under the law ... Show more

Her unwavering devotion and constant support of gaining women rights that
equaled men shaped her legacy and led to women actually gaining these rights.
Her unfamiliarity in modern history is nothing short of a tragedy. For she chose to
voice her opinion in the face of criticism, act upon her beliefs in unforgiving
circumstances and fight for what she felt was right when she knew that she would
be ridiculed and called preposterous for it. As she stated in her writings I hope there
are some who will brave ridicule for the sake of common justice for half the people in
the world . She led those brave few and ended up winning rights for a person that
had been undermined for hundreds of years prior:
Interview Report And Self Assessment
Interview Report and Self Assessment
I interviewed Shawn Grimes (Mr. Shawn), the Executive Director of Digital Harbor
Foundation. DHF offers after school programs that let students all the way from
elementary to high school explore and develop technologies. The interview went
well. I was calm and confidant, partly because I have known the interviewee for a
couple of years, but also because I practiced asking questions beforehand.
Looking back at the interview, one of my weaknesses was that I sometime spoke
little fast. It seems like when I get too excited I speak little faster than my normal
pace. Usually in interviews, especially if I am the one that is being interviewed, I
take few seconds to think and respond. However, when I ... Show more content on

My other strengths in the interview were recognizing timeliness of the questions and
transitioning to different topics when it was needed. I was also able to ask questions
that unfolded wide rage of experiences Mr. Shawn faces as an Executive Director. For
example, in a professional world , people, especially investors expect their clients
/partners to dress up in a suit and tie and have short hair that fits the professional
look . However, Mr. Shawn prefers dressing little differently, and his choice of
hairstyle is not something a typical professional would wear. He explained,
because of his spiky hair and a t shirt with jean clothing, sometime people expects
him to act dumber and uneducated , he added, once a investor asked him if he was
a pirate. It shows that even when people do not know others, they tend to have
perceived ideas just by looking at them. While Mr. Shawn did not say anything, his
choice of clothing and a hairstyle gave certain ideas to people around him.
By conducting this interview, I learned a lot about the work people at Digital Harbor
Foundation do. Although I participated in the program for two years, before the
interview, I only knew what the students do in the program. However, after the
interview, I also learned about the work staffs do, as well as the (communication)
problems they face. Mr. Shawn emphasized that most of
The University Of Texas At Austin
The University of Texas at Austin claims that it has good justifications for its use of
race in the admittance program. To provide evidence against Fisher s claim of being
unable to stand up to strict scrutiny, the University said that the Court had previously
ruled that the UT s limited consideration or racewas necessary and narrowly tailored
to UT s compelling interest in achieving studentbody diversity ( Brief of Respondents
University, 2015). After Fisher s case went to court the first time, the court was
persuades that the need for having race as part of the holistic admittance program
is not considered a quota because it a search for students of unique talents and
backgrounds who can enrich the diversity of the student body in distinct ways (
Brief of Respondents University, 2015). The University conducted internal studies
and was alarmed at the low rate of minorities attending classes, and is committed to
improving the interracial relations by increasing diversity. The University believes
that by promoting diversity it will break down long standing racial and ethnic
stereotypes, as well as improving cross racial understanding. They find that this is
necessary because our society is still race conscious. Texas is in fact racially
segregated within cities. I think that Santa Rosa may even have some segregation,
with Roseland having a predominantly low income Latino population the elementary
schools are made up of entirely Latino children, and have poor

Corruptions Of Foreign Public Officials Act
Corruptions of Foreign Public Officials Act (CFPOA) stills needs develop to tackle
corruption
The criminal liability of corporations is continuing to develop, and it is still finding
its perfect shape. Prior to the 1940s, it was ruled that corporations could not be
criminally liable based on the statement that corporations have no soul to be damned;
no body to be kicked . This rule was then replaced by the identification theory, where
the corporation would be held criminally liable if the human actor who committed the
crime was the directing mind of the corporation . The identification theory was the
replaced with the recent amendments to the Criminal Code, expanding and redefining
the circumstances in which corporations may be held criminally responsible under
the Code . This last amendment was even described as revolutionary. The same
evolution happened with the anti corruption and anti bribery rules in the Canadian
legal system, as they continue to develop.
Prior to 1997, foreign bribe payments were not only legal, but even tax deductible as
a legitimate business expense. On December 17, 1997, Canada signed the OECD Anti
bribery convention, and Parliament passed the CFPOA to implement Canada s
obligation under the OECD Anti Bribery Convention into Canadian Law. With the
adoption of the CFPOA which received Royal Assent on December 10, 1998, the
Government of Canada deposited its instrument of ratification with the OECD on
December 17, 1998, thereby becoming a party

The Cathedral of Chartres is located Southwest of Paris in Chartres, France. The
Cathedral of Chartres is considered one of the most exquisite representations of the
French Gothic architectural style. This Cathedral was constructed during 1194
through 1250, yet still contains many of its original artifacts such as the stained glass
art. The North facing Rose Window displays the Old Testament and is dedicated to
the Virgin. These images within the Rose represent Judah and the twelve Kings
and the 12 Prophets. The Cathedrale Norte Dame de Chartres claims, Thus the Old

Essay about The Life Journey of John Steinbeck
The Life Journey of John Steinbeck Every great writer had their own influences,
John Steinbeck was no exception. Steinbeck s influences cam from family, friends,
and his environment to write detailed descriptions to involve or influence the
reader. Whenever someone reads one of John Steinbeck s works they are in
immersed in the scene he is describing, he makes you feel as if you are right there

The Origin Of Culture And The False Perception

doctrinal beliefs and traditions are followed religiously. Through the story of the
Traditions of the Elders in Mark 7, this paper focuses on the origin of culture and
the false perception it gives that is was created by God. Although culture religious

Mark 7:1 8 begins with the Pharisees and the scribes coming from Jerusalem and
meeting with Jesus. As they were gathered around Jesus, the pharisees and the
scribes observed his disciples and questioned Jesus why they were eating food with
hands that were unclean? Jesus responds to their question by speaking the words of
Isiah from the book of Isiah 29:13 saying, These people honor me with their lips, but
their hearts are far from me; in vein do they worship me, teaching human precepts as
tradition. Jesus tension with the pharisees and the scribes is that they abandoned
with word of God and choose to follow human tradition instead. In the second
division of Mark 7:9 13, Jesus gives a current example in his time of how the
pharisees and the scribes have abandoned God s commandments and followed the
human traditions instead. Jesus mentions the commandment Honor your father and
mother in Exodus 20:12 and Deuteronomy 5:16. The law that God has already

Jasper Jones Analysis
Jasper Jones is a 2009 novel aimed at young adults, which focuses on the death of
Laura Wishart, and the journey protagonist Charlie Bucktin and his friend Jasper
Jones undergo in order to discover to truth of her death. Throughout the novel, the
1961 film Breakfast at Tiffany s, which was aimed at adult women is mentioned, in
an interesting use of intertextuality by author Craig Silvey. Eliza Wishart, younger
sister of Laura, dreams of a life in New York as Holly Golightly of Breakfast at
Tiffany s, and Silvey uses this as a way to explore escapism. The two texts also deal
with themes such as isolation and the search for identity using a range of literary

We hear of her moving to New York to escape her life as a child bride after being
orphaned at a young age. This story allows the audience to gain a sense of sympathy
for Holly, and enhances the pathos of the story. This pathos puts the audience into the
shoes of Holly and enables them to understand the reasoning behind her escape. The
use of language features like pathos and literary allusion allow the authors of both
texts to convey the theme of escapism.
Furthermore, both authors explore the theme of isolation throughout their texts. In
Jasper Jones, Laura constantly feels isolated from her community, and seeks refuge
from this isolation in a relationship with Jasper. The isolation is represented through
the characterisation of Laura. Towards the end of the novel, it is revealed that her
father had been sexually assaulting her. The isolation she was experiencing due to
this assault comes to a head at the climax of the novel, where we read Laura s
suicide note. She reveals that although she is now dead, she has been dead inside
long before this and that her life was disappearing . This is a clear example of the
isolation manifesting within her to the extent that she feels suicide is her only
option. In Breakfast at Tiffany s, we are introduced to the isolation and anxiety
Holly feels through dialogue. In one particular scene, Holly explains to Paul how
she is experiencing the Mean reds , which is when you are afraid of something, but
you do not know what

Girl, Interrupted, By Susanna Kaysen
Girl, Interrupted is a memoir written by Susanna Kaysen who was admitted to a
mental institution as a young girl. She was diagnosed with borderline personality
disorder due to some her depressive and crazy behavior. Throughout the memoir, we
are able to see the realizations that Kaysen has regarding the treatment of young
women and mental patients. She touches on some of the stigmatizations that she
witnessed herself and of others around her. Some of her experiences surrounding her
stay at the institution were positive and some were negative due to the way she was
treated. Nonetheless, not only were the views on mental illness often negative, but
the way certain illnesses were diagnosed due to views on the way women act were

After her experiences during her two year confinement at the mental institution,
Kaysen was able to get a clear sense of how people are diagnosed. She realized that
we need to protect women and social norms when diagnosing because of her own
experience and the experiences of those around her. Normal behaviors of women at
this time were often seen as things that needed treatment and medical help. When
she was first being seen by doctors, it was a time when mental illness and cognitive
impairment were seen as basically the same thing. Women were particularly targeted
when discussing mental illness, even though their symptoms did not match up.
Women s rash behavior was often categorized as a mental illness. For example,
hysteria in women was seen as them being over dramatic and having attention
seeking behavior. Charles A. Reed did a study of women s nervous systems and
concluded that were controlled by their bodies and reproductive system, not their
mind. Women s behavior at this time was often dismissed as a mental illness, even if
it was a normal personality trait they showed.
According to the DSM IV TR borderline personality disorder is a pervasive pattern of
instability in relationships, self image and affects, and marked impulsivity. Another
symptom is affective instability due to marked reactivity of mood such as intense
episodic dysphoria, irritability or anxiety lasting only a few hours
Examples Of Wrongful Convictions
However, it is not always the case that a confession is the end of a case, as there is
always the chance that it was in fact a false confession. This is not something people
usually suspect, as was mentioned previously that people assume no reasonable
person would admit to guilt if they were innocent. Often times the false confession
comes about through coercion and the tactics of policeattempting to obtain a
confession no matter if it is accurate or not. There is a vast array of options for
police in trying to obtain a confession from a party that they feel is guilty believing
that the prospect of an accurate confession outweighs the possibility of obtaining a
false one. It is very common for an officer to simply lie to a suspect who... Show

In come cases it does occur that the error in the conviction is caught and the person
who was wrongfully convicted gets the charges against them dropped and they are
released from whatever form of punishment the courts deemed acceptable however
even so, the convicted has often spent over 10 years in prison, or was executed by
the state. More often than not, wrongful convictions go undetected and this leaves
researchers with a gaping hole in the research as one can only examine the causes of
wrongful convictions from the framing of wrongful convictions that have been
uncovered. From the first step of being wrongfully accused to the last step of being
wrongfully punished (whether that be community service, to incarceration, to being
put on death row) many factors go into the process of a person being wrongfully
accused of criminal activity. This paper theorizes that some of them main causes of a
person being wrongfully convicted include the suspect giving false confession
typically under the pretense of police trickery, expert evidence being erroneously
gathered and/or presented for court, and the impact and validity of eyewitness
testimony against the accused. These three causes, working either in cohesion or
separately all contribute in a significant manner to wrongful conviction in the
criminal justice system. On the surface, studying and examining the causes of
wrongful conviction is important so that we can be informed and thus attempt to
avoid these causes. However, the benefit of the examination of these causes foes
deeper than that. By examining the causes of wrongful conviction one can attempt to
disassemble and examine the systems set in place that allow for such errors or
misuses of power to exist in the first place. By doing this a person can then critically
examine the criminal justice system which could lead to taking the necessary next
steps in essential

An Inspirational Rite Of Passage
In the prime age of sixteen, I felt an inspirational rite of passage. My endurance
through Drivers Ed guaranteed me my license which I wanted desperately.
Furthermore, my father had permitted me to drive his white 2002 Dodge Ram

like: going to the store, the bank, visiting familymembers, and of course hanging out
with my friends. In the early spring of 2013, I was returning home from eating
lunch with my hilarious friend, Wade, at Rupes, the best burger joint in town. My
foot all the way on the gas petal, my left hand out the window, and my eyes on the
road was my last good memory before it happened.
At the speed of 45 between the intersecting of Rich Lane and University Street, my
eyes were flashed by the bursting sunlight from my rearview mirror. My depth
perception was rattled by my tainted eyes, and I could not readjust them back in
order before blinking. After a brief moment, I finally attuned my eyes and I
gathered that I drifted closer to the right side of the road. Likewise out of the corner
of my right eye, I notice a strange object fifteen feet headed to the right of the truck.
I focused more upon the black object before it disappeared out of my sight and
departed underneath the hood of the truck. It was

parties were the Federalist and the Anti Federalist. The Federalist were those who
favored the establishing of the new constitution, while the Anti Federalist were those
who opposed the ratification of the constitution.
The first two political parties that were formed in the United States were the federalist
and the anti federalist. The federalist consisted of the northern population, while the
anti federalist were in the south. One of the leaders of the federalist was Alexander
Hamilton, with the power that he held and the power of the other federalist, they
were able to gain control of the government for the first 10 years. The Democratic
Republic party took shape with Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, until 1828
when the name Republican was dropped from the name of the party which lead to the
creation of the Democratic Party. Slavery was a very important issue for the United
States government during those years, the Whig Party was then formed in order to
stop the spreading of slavery into the western territories. The Whig Party came to
an end as the Kansas Nebraska bill of 1854 gave permission to the state to decide if
they would be a free or slave state. The anti slavery Whigs started to gather again in

Who s Irish By Gish Jen Analysis
In Gish Jen s Who s Irish? the witness, and amusement as well as the seriousness,
and sadness really make the reader think about different cultures. The story is
about an old Chinese grandmother who is widowed and trying to fit in and adapt
to her way of life in New York with her daughter Natalie. She speaks in a Chinese
immigrant voice while telling her story. She does not agree with a lot of the ways
Natalie tries to do things with her Irish husband John. She explains her background
in an amusing way, and compares everything to how she grew up in the eastern
culture. The grandmother does not agree with how Natalie is living her life and
trying to raise her daughter Sophie. Caring for a very hyper three year old at her
age takes over at the playground when Natalie eventually decides her mom should
not care for Sophie anymore when she falls asleep in a foxhole. John s motherBess
allows the narrator to live with her even coming from a completely different
background, Irish rather than Chinese. It is sad to see this particular situation in the
world even with many foreign children having a hard time... Show more content on

The theme really made the audience get a good perspective of how the
grandmother felt about her situation. If this story was told differently very
straightforward and not by a Chinese immigrant, the reader would not feel as
sympathetic. The way she uses the words they say, she say, he say makes it sound
relatable to her adjusting to her broken English as well as trying to adapt to western
culture. Although the narrator tries to take things in her own hands, she is cut short
when her daughter disagrees and new American/Irish customs are not abided by
finding out Sophie has bruises. It is hilarious to listen to her explain her opinion with
her eastern view point and foreign theme. As assumed as the reader can be listing to
the grandmother tell her story from her perspective she is not accommodating her
daughter and son in
The Achievements Of Isaac Newton
Throughout History, there have been many decorated and brilliant minds that have
contributed to shaping the scientific life that we live in today. One of the most
influential scientists would be that of Sir Isaac Newton. Newton was a prominent
philosopher, astronomer, mathematician, physicist, and scientist during the 17th
century. The accomplishments completed within his life helped in contributing and
shaping the fact that he was one of the single most influential scientists of his time.
On January 4, 1643, Isaac Newton was born in the Woolsthorpe, Lincolnshire,
England colony. His birth date, using the old Julien calendar, is also shown to be
on December 25, 1642. Filled with many hardships and trials, Isaac Newton lived a
troubling early life. Named after his father, Isaac Newton, Sr., Newton grew up as
an only child. Unfortunately, Isaac Newton, Sr., passed away three months before
his son was born. After the passing of his father, Newton s mother, Hannah
Ayscough Newton, decided to get remarried to a minister and soon left her three
year old son behind to live with his maternal grandmother. It has been noted that this
experience may have left a critical sense of insecurity of Newton s life. It wasn t
until age 12 that Newton reunited with his mother after the death of her second
husband. It was during this time when Newton had begun to attend school in which
he was introduced and fascinated with the world of chemistry. He was soon pulled
out of school by his mother,
A Separate Peace, By John Knowles
A Separate Peace: War Enemy

ENGL 143: Writing I
December 13, 2017
Everything has to evolve or it perishes (125). In the novel A Separate Peace, by
John Knowles, the setting takes place at an all boy s boarding school in New
England called Devon, during World WarII. A Separate Peaceis a disturbing and life
shattering parable of the dark side of a teenager. Gene Forester is an intellectual
who mainly succeeds in academics and rule abiding. Phineas is an excellent
athlete, a dare devil, a character who isn t afraid to say what he thinks, and is
admired by all. During the summer of 1942, both boys stay at the Devon school,
and that summer changed everything for Gene and Finny, forever. A Separate
Peace is set against the backdrop of World War II. While the war is going on, the
young men of Devon School face their own psychological battles. Gene and Leper in
particular create battles inside their own minds; they create division and enemies, and
they deal with their difficulties in very different ways. In John Knowles s A Separate
Peace, the theme of war doesn t mean a state of armed conflict between different
nations or states or different groups within a nation or state (dictionary.com), but of a
conflict within each boy s maturity and their minds. Placed in World War II, the boys
at Devon school cannot escape the idea that once they complete high school, they ll
have to enlist in the military. This makes the separation between childhood

Description Of A Room Essay

  • 1. Description Of A Room Essay Writing an essay on the topic of describing a room might seem deceptively simple at first glance, but as one delves into the task, the complexities and challenges begin to unfold. The difficulty lies not in the lack of material to discuss – after all, a room is filled with tangible and intangible elements waiting to be articulated – but rather in the art of conveying a vivid and engaging portrayal that captures the essence of the space. The challenge begins with the need to transcend mere physical description. While detailing the color of the walls, the arrangement of furniture, and the play of light may be straightforward, the true difficulty arises in infusing these details with life. Conveying the atmosphere, the emotions evoked by the room, and the significance of its elements requires a delicate dance with words. Striking the right balance between concrete details and poetic expression is a tightrope walk that demands precision and finesse. Moreover, the challenge extends to avoiding clichГ©s and generic descriptions. Anyone can label a room as "cozy" or "spacious," but the task is to find unique and evocative language that paints a distinct picture. It's about steering clear of the commonplace and embracing the idiosyncrasies that make the room special. Additionally, the difficulty intensifies when trying to maintain a coherent and organized structure. A room is a microcosm of details, and weaving them into a seamless narrative requires careful planning. Choosing what to highlight, deciding on the sequence of descriptions, and ensuring a logical flow are aspects that contribute to the complexity of the task. In essence, while describing a room may appear straightforward, the challenge lies in elevating the narrative beyond the mundane. It involves transforming the mundane into the extraordinary, using words as brushes to paint a vivid and compelling picture. It is the fusion of creativity, attention to detail, and linguistic finesse that renders this seemingly simple task a nuanced and demanding endeavor. For those who find themselves grappling with this challenge, seeking assistance is a viable option. Burns defined successful leaders as being transformational rather than transactional. Burns described the transformational leader as having recognized the organization as a complex system in a chaotic environment. The leader has also responded to complexity by being aware of change. The transformational leader has established a shared vision and inspired the organization to learn and evolve in response to change. Transformational leaders have driven radical change, trading short term stability for long term survival. (Kouzes Posner, 94) As successful as Steve Jobs appears to be, there are some leadership qualities that need to be improved. One such behavior would be model the way (Kouzes Posner, 45) Steve Jobs has not established principles concerning the way people should be treated, nor does Jobs create standards of excellence as a leadership example for others to follow. In fact, this leader has been known to scream at employees to the point of hyperventilation. (Pomiewozik, 2000) This leader has also been guilty of failing to follow through on promises and commitments. As an employer, Jobs was obligated to compensate employees for work as agreed upon in the job contract. That obligation to compensate employees was not followed through when Jobs fired a P.R. consultant and refused to pay the employee for completed work. (Pomiewozik, 2000) The demeaning attitude of this leader should not serve as an example for employees. On one occasion Steve Jobs played a cruel joke on an employee by pretending to offer the employee a position as Apple C.E.O. (Pomiewozik, 2000) Values are empowering....Values motivate. The main reason for this is that they failed to correctly audit the assets and financial position of Enron resulting in all stakeholders having no clue about the forthcoming collapse of Enron. This resulted in the stakeholders facing a very critical condition or a phase where in they were not sure if they would be able to recover their investments and debts or not. Opportunity is one factor that can explain why falsifying of financial statement is occurring frequently it is common through weakness in the internal controls which includes insufficient supervision and review by board of directors of some organization, separation of duties, oversight and management approvals that are not consistent with the organization goals as well as system controls. Pressure also is another factor which relates from non realistic time frames and performance targets arising from conspiracies between employees and third parties. 4. When there is lack of clarity or any unclear financial report that is most of the times inconsistent like in the case of Enron, this is a clear indication of a red flag some one especially auditors under strict supervision should consider taking action. Investigations and analysis in fraud cases consistently show that red flags were actually present and that there were in many instances recognized or upon recognition they were never acted upon. When red flags are discovered suitable action should be swift though, mistakes are most times errors types

Jim Jonesown And The American Dream Jonestown In the 1970 s, when the dark skinned people didn t fit in yet, when there was still so much discrimination and segregation going on, and when the American Dream was barely getting realized as a lie, Jim Jones was there to save those people in trouble. Unfortunately, he did not end up being much of a hero but more of a psychopath. He provided a sense of leadership to those who wanted something or someone to follow. People in the 1970 s were still struggling to fight for justice and equality, and Jim Joneswanted to fight with them. Nobody would have ever imagined that someone who seemed to have all the right intentions, someone who took in the homeless, who cared for the elderly, fought for equality, and many more good things , would cause the largest mass suicide in modern history (Nelson, Jonestown). The Peoples Temple was a place for all kinds of people to go and feel like they were important (Nelson, Jonestown). The drug addicts, alcoholics, browns, blacks, whites, elderly, convicts, all of these people were welcomed to the Peoples Temple by Jim Jones and he made them feel like they finally belonged somewhere; he made them feel loved for once in their life. Jim Jones would say he was their god and all the people in the temple would believe him and praise him but only because he would say all the right things (Nelson, Jonestown). When he talked at the meetings he would say all the right things that the people wanted to hear and that s how he
  • 5. Spector s Argument Essay Climate change is real there is no denying it. NASA Climate Change found that the global temperature has risen 1.7 degrees since 1880. This may sound minimal, but it has caused the melting of 281.1 billion tons of land ice a year, led to a sea level rise of 3.4 millimeters per year, and a 13.3% loss of arctic ice. This has been caused by an increase in carbon dioxide. Everyone knows that walking to school and turning off the lights when you exit the room will help, but this is not the root cause, and thus, not the way to solve the problem. We must address the problem at the root cause energy. When fossil fuels such as coal, gas or oil are burnt, they produce carbon dioxide, a heat trapping gas that is responsible for the sea levels rising,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I originally reasoned that renewable energy was effective and because it could not run out, it was a much better option. But, the credibility and reasoning of Spector s argument, along with the fallacious arguments of the Union of Concerned Scientists, I now believe that renewable energy is not beneficial to energy companies. After looking at numerous articles, it was clear that the UCS purposefully overlooked many facts that rendered their argument, and article, useless. They had disregarded the sheer ineffectiveness of renewable energy and the previous failures of implementing renewable energy (Jogulekar, Scientific American). For example, Germany, a world leader in renewable energy, tried to go all solar, but they failed, having to eventually import nuclear energy from France and opening up coal plants. Jogulekar asserts that Germany would have created less carbon dioxide if they simply stuck to nuclear energy. Spector asserts that a 100% renewable energy grid is far from beneficial, it is not even feasible. Looking at all arguments, I agree with Spector and that nuclear energy should be implemented and is far more beneficial to energy companies for a few reasons because of its reliability, its low carbon emission and its extreme efficiency. I have come to the conclusion that switching to renewable energy is not beneficial to energy companies as there are many other low carbon alternatives. Spector s arguments and his article is more reliable than the UCS s. For this reason, renewable energy is not beneficial to energy companies, and nuclear energy, because it is more efficient and reliable, should be

The riots were so intense they lasted from August 9 13. The civil disorder was sparked when a Cincinnati Police patrolman Stephen Roach killed a 19 year old African American named Timothy Thomas. Given the publicity of this event, the Cincinnati PoliceDepartment had to undergo a variety of changes, including the hiring process. As a result, the current hiring process is considered to be one of the best in the nation. There are several minimum requirements that must be satisfied for one to be eligible to be a Cincinnati police officer. First, each applicant must be 21 years old at the date of appointment. Second, each applicant must have a high school diploma or GED while a bachelor s degree in criminal justice is strongly preferred. Third, each applicant must have a valid driver s license with at least one year of driving experience must be a U.S. Citizen or in a process of U.S. Naturalization. No previous law enforcement experience is required. Military veterans will be given small preference given their experience. Once the minimum requirements are satisfied, the applicant must pass a very comprehensive disqualification checklist. For instance, any person who has been convicted of a felony in the court of law will be disqualified for life and unable to serve as a police officer. Furthermore, any person who admits to committing or attempting to commit a crime

The microassaults reflect the conscious discrimination about a population. Many of the microassaults consisted of people stating that Arabs or Middle Eastern citizens are terrorists. The microinsults consisted of every Muslim that comes to an airport being required to be checked, in hopes of safety. However, it is an unconscious insult to the Muslim population. The microinsults are often unconscious acts against a population. Due to the beliefs that the terrorists who caused the plane crashes during September 11 were Arabs, many wanted to be sure that many other Middle Easterners didn t feel comfortable bringing more terror to America. In 1990, the company s financial performance began to slip. Instead of resolve the problems, Parmalat executives and managements used a wide range of unethical techniques to disguise them. For instance, they used receivables from fake sales as collateral to borrow money from bank, created fake assets by inflating reported assets, and took legitimate debt from investors (Glater, 2004). Additionally, executives worked with investment bankers to move debt off balance sheetand disguised it as equity. Margaret Sanger Vs Betty Friedan Throughout history, leaders of political and social movements have designed slogans and catchphrases to mobilize ordinary citizens into political and social activists. Historically, activists such as Nelson Mandela, Mohandas Gandhi, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, and countless others have, in their speeches and writings, created a perfect pairing of words that persists in the mind of the listener. Two such activists of the Twentieth Century were Margaret Sangerand Betty Friedan. Friedan and Sanger greatly influenced the women s rights movement; despite both being feminists, however, their personal beliefs in terms of other civil rights movements often fell at opposite ends of the spectrum. Both Friedan and Sanger popularized phrases which empowered their respective followers and similar activists to push back against a system designed to repress them; the phrases that the two activists used, however, reflected their different brands of activism and revealed their differences of opinion on who mattered both for and in the Women s Rights Movement. : Sanger with the phrase birth control and Friedan with the term feminine mystique. Betty Friedan, who lived from 1921 2006, constructed her activism through her writing. She wrote for trade unions and magazines, and later, at the age of 42, published her best known work The Feminine Mystique. With growing up in a Charismatic church, I saw the gifts in action. There is a lot of debate on whether the gift is relevant for today or have they ceased from the church. One side says that the gifts are in the past and is not relevant for the day that we live in and another side says that the gifts are still relevant for today. Again we need to look at how the Bible uses these words. In John 17:3 it says that This is eternal life that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. (New American Standard Bible, 1995 revised). In that verse it talks about how having eternal life is to also knowing God. Also only the believer is known by Jesus (John 10:27; Gal. 4:8 9; Romans 8:29). The unbeliever is not known by Jesus (Matt. 7:21 23). In every verse except for one, God says that he knows only the believers. Knowing this is a kind of salvation knowing, it is a kind of knowing that God gives to the Christians. He knows them and knows that they are saved. The unbelievers are not known and therefore are not saved. It would seem to be consistent with scripture to say that ...as I m fully known would refer to salvation relationship between the Christians and Jesus Christ. When the return of Christ comes, we as Christians will see him face to face. Another argument is that present day tongues are further revelation and then must be equal to scripture and ought to be included into the Bible. But since the Bible has nothing to add to it, the gift of tongues must no longer be valid. The problem with this argument is that faulty because recognizes revelation that cannot be added into the Bible. 1 Cor. 14:26 talks about the church in Corinth were revelations were revealed that were not included in the Bible. For example, it is evident that the Babylonian culture influenced the writer of the Biblical flood story, which was made hundreds of years after the making of the Babylonian story. As stated in the article Background Info on the Flood Stories , each story has unique elements, and the differences from the Biblical story are often more striking than the similarities . For example, in the Atrahasis Epic, one of the gods in the story punishes humanity because of the amount of noise made and in The Epic of Gilgamesh, the god Enlil destroys the city where Utnapishtim is living in(presumably furious with mankind). In the Genesis Flood Story, the Yahwist version depicts YHWH as regretting His creation, while the Priestly version depicts God as tired of human corruption. In all three stories, the gods send the flood for similar reasons; they are angry with humanity. However, this is where the similarities end. In Genesis, God floods the world in the pursuit of justice/regret, while the god in Atrahasis is angry for a less significant offense. Though flooding the world is an unjustified action, it is interesting that a god would be irritated enough at noise to want to eradicate humanity. These stories are all more intriguing when compared because it helps us to better understand the motivations of each being that causes the flood event.Again, in the article Background Info on the Flood Stories , the author talks about how each of these stories have a different religious interpretation than the Biblical flood story. Mrs. Iselin s admiration for Abraham Lincoln in my own opinion is due to the fact that he was a Loyalist and not a Communist, and she hates Communists, and he was also a great and powerful leader of our nation. These were her goals not only for herself but also for her son and her husband. She even made her husband dress up as Abraham Lincoln for the costume party she hosted and she had a huge picture of Abraham Lincoln hanging over her fireplace in her home, as well as in her dining room. A lower GI examination, also know as a barium enema, is an x ray examination of the large intestine. The large intestine, or large bowel, consists of the entire colon, including the appendix, rectum, and sigmoid colon. This commonly performed test is essentially the predecessor to the more familiar colonoscopy. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The barium is then released from the bag and begins to flow slowly into your colon. As the barium begins to fill your bowel you will feel some pain and pressure, and an urgency to have a bowel movement. The doctor will watch the barium as it moves through your intestine on a TV screen, using a special live x ray called fluoroscopy. You will be asked to turn to different positions, and the table may be tilted slightly to help the barium flow through your colon and to take x rays from different directions. Sometimes a slightly different version of the test may be done. It is called a double contrast barium enema. If a double contrast study is being done, the barium will be drained out, and then air will be injected into your colon. As you can imagine with the air contrast study, the amount of cramping and pain increases, due to the expansion of the bowel with air. After all of the films are taken the enema tube is removed, and you are taken to the restroom to expel the remaining barium and air. One or two films may be taken afterwards, to check how much barium is remaining in your bowel. The entire test takes anywhere from thirty minutes to one hour. After the exam you may resume a regular diet, and be sure to drink plenty of liquids to replace those you have lost and to help flush the remaining barium out of your system. During the

The University believes that by promoting diversity it will break down long standing racial and ethnic stereotypes, as well as improving cross racial understanding. Corruptions Of Foreign Public Officials Act Corruptions of Foreign Public Officials Act (CFPOA) stills needs develop to tackle corruption The criminal liability of corporations is continuing to develop, and it is still finding its perfect shape. Prior to the 1940s, it was ruled that corporations could not be criminally liable based on the statement that corporations have no soul to be damned; no body to be kicked . This rule was then replaced by the identification theory, where the corporation would be held criminally liable if the human actor who committed the crime was the directing mind of the corporation . The identification theory was the replaced with the recent amendments to the Criminal Code, expanding and redefining the circumstances in which corporations may be held criminally responsible under the Code . This last amendment was even described as revolutionary. The same evolution happened with the anti corruption and anti bribery rules in the Canadian legal system, as they continue to develop. Prior to 1997, foreign bribe payments were not only legal, but even tax deductible as a legitimate business expense. On December 17, 1997, Canada signed the OECD Anti bribery convention, and Parliament passed the CFPOA to implement Canada s obligation under the OECD Anti Bribery Convention into Canadian Law. With the adoption of the CFPOA which received Royal Assent on December 10, 1998, the Government of Canada deposited its instrument of ratification with the OECD on December 17, 1998, thereby becoming a party

Through the story of the Traditions of the Elders in Mark 7, this paper focuses on the origin of culture and the false perception it gives that is was created by God. Although culture religious traditions can have association with God, culture and religious traditions are not are not from God and can prevent people from doing what God wants Context Mark 7:1 8 begins with the Pharisees and the scribes coming from Jerusalem and meeting with Jesus. As they were gathered around Jesus, the pharisees and the scribes observed his disciples and questioned Jesus why they were eating food with hands that were unclean? Jesus responds to their question by speaking the words of Isiah from the book of Isiah 29:13 saying, These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me; in vein do they worship me, teaching human precepts as tradition. Jesus tension with the pharisees and the scribes is that they abandoned with word of God and choose to follow human tradition instead. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We hear of her moving to New York to escape her life as a child bride after being orphaned at a young age. This story allows the audience to gain a sense of sympathy for Holly, and enhances the pathos of the story. This pathos puts the audience into the shoes of Holly and enables them to understand the reasoning behind her escape. The use of language features like pathos and literary allusion allow the authors of both texts to convey the theme of escapism. Furthermore, both authors explore the theme of isolation throughout their texts. In Jasper Jones, Laura constantly feels isolated from her community, and seeks refuge from this isolation in a relationship with Jasper. The isolation is represented through the characterisation of Laura. Towards the end of the novel, it is revealed that her father had been sexually assaulting her. The isolation she was experiencing due to this assault comes to a head at the climax of the novel, where we read Laura s suicide note. She reveals that although she is now dead, she has been dead inside long before this and that her life was disappearing . This is a clear example of the isolation manifesting within her to the extent that she feels suicide is her only option. In Breakfast at Tiffany s, we are introduced to the isolation and anxiety Holly feels through dialogue. In one particular scene, Holly explains to Paul how she is experiencing the Mean reds , which is when you are afraid of something, but you do not know what

She realized that we need to protect women and social norms when diagnosing because of her own experience and the experiences of those around her. Normal behaviors of women at this time were often seen as things that needed treatment and medical help. When she was first being seen by doctors, it was a time when mental illness and cognitive impairment were seen as basically the same thing. Women were particularly targeted when discussing mental illness, even though their symptoms did not match up. Women s rash behavior was often categorized as a mental illness. For example, hysteria in women was seen as them being over dramatic and having attention seeking behavior. Charles A. Reed did a study of women s nervous systems and concluded that were controlled by their bodies and reproductive system, not their mind. Often times the false confession comes about through coercion and the tactics of policeattempting to obtain a confession no matter if it is accurate or not. More often than not, wrongful convictions go undetected and this leaves researchers with a gaping hole in the research as one can only examine the causes of wrongful convictions from the framing of wrongful convictions that have been uncovered. From the first step of being wrongfully accused to the last step of being wrongfully punished (whether that be community service, to incarceration, to being put on death row) many factors go into the process of a person being wrongfully accused of criminal activity. This paper theorizes that some of them main causes of a person being wrongfully convicted include the suspect giving false confession typically under the pretense of police trickery, expert evidence being erroneously gathered and/or presented for court, and the impact and validity of eyewitness testimony against the accused. These three causes, working either in cohesion or separately all contribute in a significant manner to wrongful conviction in the criminal justice system. On the surface, studying and examining the causes of wrongful conviction is important so that we can be informed and thus attempt to avoid these causes. However, the benefit of the examination of these causes foes deeper than that. By examining the causes of wrongful conviction one can attempt to disassemble and examine the systems set in place that allow for such errors or misuses of power to exist in the first place. By doing this a person can then critically examine the criminal justice system which could lead to taking the necessary next steps in essential
