Write Essays
Writing an essay on the topic of "Write Essays" poses a unique challenge as it requires a level of
self-awareness and reflexivity. The irony of crafting an essay about the very act of essay writing
adds a layer of complexity. Expressing thoughts about the process of constructing an essay about
writing essays involves a delicate balance between introspection and objective analysis.
One might find oneself navigating through the intricacies of language, structure, and coherence,
all while attempting to convey the nuances of the essay-writing experience. The endeavor
involves a continuous loop of drafting, revising, and refining, reflecting the iterative nature of
the writing process itself. The challenge lies not only in addressing the technical aspects of essay
construction but also in capturing the essence of the creative and intellectual journey one
undergoes while grappling with words and ideas.
The paradox of narrating the difficulties of essay writing while actually engaging in the act
might create a meta-narrative, where the writer becomes both the subject and the object of
exploration. This self-referentiality introduces layers of interpretation, making the task more
intricate than a conventional essay on a different subject matter.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Write Essays" is a demanding task that requires a heightened
level of self-awareness and the ability to navigate the complexities of meta-writing. It's an
exercise in exploring the recursive nature of expressing thoughts about the process of expression
itself. The challenge lies not only in the technical aspects but also in capturing the essence of the
intellectual and creative journey involved in essay writing.

Essay on The Underdogs
Demetrio Macias , Hope for the Commoners
In The Underdogs written by Mariano Azuela, we are introduced to a character that
strongly symbolizes the fuel of the Mexican Revolution. Heroes like Demetrio
Macias brought the Serrano s hope of giving them what they felt they truly deserved.
Although Demetrio Macias, the general (colonel) of a rebel army is hunting down
the army of Pancho Villa, he seems to have the same ideals as the enemy. In addition
to Demetrio Macias, we meet women like Camilla and War Paint who represent the
different roles that women played during the Mexican Revolution.
The character of Demetrio Macias proves to be quite ironic. One facet of his
character reveals his determination to find Pancho Villa s army,... Show more content

He quotes Before the revolution, I had my land all plowed, see, and just right for
sowing, and if it hadn t been for a little quarrel with Don Macio, the boss of my
town, Moyahua, I d be there in a jiffy getting the oxen ready for the sowing, see?
(pg. 48) Luis Cervantes explains his cause when he says The triumph of our cause,
which is the sublime triumph of Justice, because our ideal to be free the noble, long
suffering people of Mexico is about to be realized and because those men who have
watered the earth with their blood and tears will reap the harvest which is rightfully
theirs. (pg. 69)
With respect to the degradation of women in The Underdogs, we must profile the
two women portrayed in the book. On one hand we have the conservative Camilla,
and on the other, we have War Paint. War Paint was the opposite of what society
held as the typical woman. War Paint went against the grain, and partook in events
which professor Tinsman explained was common for women in the army to do in
those days. She drank, swore, and had many lovers like a man. Professor Tinsman
also explained the traditional roles that women held in society. Camilla is a great
example of the way women acted during this time. The following is an excerpt the is
preceded by Luis Cervantes speech about how Camilla should take advantage of
Demetrio Macias interest in her. She is not persuaded because she is truly interested
A Study On Chemical Reactions
Tony Metz 9/18/14
Prussing School 006/7th
Review of Literature A chemical reaction is the communication (or interaction)
between elements (Green, 2012). Chemical reactions can happen naturally or can
be caused by a person. They can even happen inside of a living being (Newmark,
2000). Some chemical reactions can just happen randomly and others need different
amounts of energy for them to occur. Heat can provide chemicals with the energy for
this to happen. For example, dynamite is extremely sensitive to any shock. When it
senses the sparks of a lit fuse, a fast chemical reaction between fuel and a source that
will burn it causes the dynamite to explode (Newmark, ... Show more content on

Baking soda contains sodium bicarbonate and is an ingredient used in cooking. It can
also be called NaHCO3 (Science Buddies, 2002 2014). It raises bread while in the
oven and creates small holes full of oxygen. The oxygen created is part of the
combustion of the chemical reaction. Another way to say sodium bicarbonate is
sodium hydrogen carbonate (Oxlade, 2002). Baking soda can be used to create a
chemical reaction. One common combination including baking soda is the
combination of baking soda and vinegar. This reaction is a main part of my
project. Baking soda also has properties that help keep healthy skin and can protect
the body and feet from infections. It has no smell and it is white and powdery.
Baking soda can provide resistance from the common cold and the flu (2014, Organic
Information Services, Health benefits of baking soda). Vinegar is an acid around 2 3
on the pH scale (it is a pretty weak acid). It can also be called CH3COOH (Science
Buddies, 2002 2014). The pH scale measures if something is an acid or a base and
determines how acidic or basic the substance is. Its main components are acetic acid
and water. Vinegar is used to preserve foods and is also used as a condiment on many
foods, such as salad dressing. Vinegar can clean well and is used to reduce the effects
of a jellyfish sting (nd, Chemical Formula, 2014). Acetic acid is a colorless liquid (it
s an acid). Acetic acid gives vinegar its taste. Since the

performance enhancing drug also known as doping. Doping is defined as the use
of drugs to enhance performance and gain advantage over the other competitors,
and it has been an ongoing problem in the sport community since the early
centuries, with an increasing trend showing today. Envision yourself competing
against an opponent who has been doping! How would you feel about that? Would
you feel cheated? I know I would. As all the hard work, dedication, and effort I
have put into my training has been reduce down to nothing. Can you also imagine
what doping would do to the integrity of sport! The intrinsic worth that make sports
so unique and important to society, such as the capability to challenge and push
ourselves beyond our own limits, the honesty and sportsmanship qualities athletes
learn and gain. So, does doping destroy the integrity of sport? Some may argue yes
and some may say no for a few reasons that will be examined further into the essay.
However, my response would be yes , as I personally believe those qualities that
creates the uniqueness of sport would be eliminate when doping is involved. The
manipulation of performance enhancing drugs will impact the sporting community in
an unnecessary manner, by giving it an appalling reputation. This appalling
reputation will develop as doping conveys a
Amazon And Starbucks Management Systems
Conviction of Amazon and Starbucks Fortune 500 companies are considered to be
the prevalent and best run businesses across the nation. The status symbol given to
Fortune 500 companies proves that the business is successful and the level of
success for these industries is very few. This paper will address comparing and
contrasting Amazon and Starbucksmanagementsystems and how they support
innovation. In addition, pros and cons of their management system will be addressed
to determine their leadership and cultural differences.
Overarching Leadership Common leadership traits of both Amazon and Starbucks
successful and admired fortune 500 companies are their ability to adapt creatively
and effectively to challenges and change. Strong and active coping skills is how they
recover from setbacks, are open to opinions of other people around them and are
ultimately aware of their strengths and shortcomings (cite).
Innovation at Amazon Incorporated in 1994 (cite), the admiration that comes from
Amazon s relentless focus on good execution and leadership principles is what makes
Amazon such a successful business. The premise that everyone at Amazon is a leader
is the foundation of the leadership approach used in this company. They start with the
customer comes first and then work backwards. Their vigorous strategy is to earn and
keep the trust of their customers. Although attention is high in the area of
competition, they fixate over their customers.
Health Care Compliance Case Study
Health care managers play a vital role in health care compliance. Not only do they
help to ensure that the organization is compliant, but they can also affect the
formation of health care policy through various means. The consequences of
noncompliance can be extremely detrimental to individuals and organizations. It is
important that a manager understand what the policies are and how they must be
met. It is important to stay informed of changes to existing health care policies or
new policies in the works. The manager may work directly with the regulatory
agencies, but at another time may work with a team within the organization. Either
way, the manager must take appropriate actions to become or stay compliant to all
appropriate policies, for himself, his team, and his organization (Weekly Overview
Week 2, 2014).
The Role of the Manager
Under the new structure of corporate compliance, it is important to realize that the
internal control of compliance programs is now the responsibility of the board,
management, and other internal personnel. The responsibility clearly rests in the
hands of management. The CEO is no longer able to merely place the blame on the
executive staff (Buchbinder, 2012).

Intellectual And Emotional Skills Of Practicing Music
INTELLECTUAL AND EMOTIONAL SKILLS
Practicing music affects human brains by improving intellectual and emotional skills.
When a person plays an instrument, certain parts of the brain which are involved in
controlling memory, hearing and motor skills are activated. In training music, a huge
load of memory is required because a brain has to receive complicated auditory
input. Therefore, the capacity to memorize expands and increases effectively
(Spray, 2015). Songs don t only help kids memorize alphabets or learn new words,
but also aid adult s ability to remember. A study from Ried School of Music,
University of Edinburgh found that adults can remember a new foreign language
better if they sing instead of speak the words (2014). The explanation is because
rhythm, rhyme and alliteration in music put new words in a pattern and organize
them. Thus, when one sings a song, the pattern comes out of their mind in sequence.
It helps them recall the words quickly (Roediger). Music acts in the same function as
visual image which is to illustrate abstract concepts into more concrete pictures.
Not only does playing musical instruments improves memory ability, it also enhances
cognitive skills. There are three main cognitive skills which are stimulated by music
training; logical, verbal and spatial ones. Musicians need skills of fluently reading
notes and counting rhythms which can help math or logical skills. According to the
Center of the Developing Child at Harvard University,
Comparing The Bridegroom, Saboteur, And Before The Law
According to Aristotle Man is a social animal , however when an individual is
forced to decide to either become accustomed with the set norms or take the risk of
continuing to believe in their inner voice that subsequently makes them a target of
public scrutiny. The external conflict between man and society takes place when a
person believes in something about a matter while their community disagrees with
those beliefs. The conflicts between an individual and the society are reflected in
these three short stories, The Bridegroom, Saboteur by Ha Jin, and Before the law
by Kafka. The protagonists are directly or indirectly affected by the powerful and
authoritative nature of laws made by their societies. Inequality of an individual in
their society can evoke a passive or predatory behavior which can cause great harm
to the society and to an individual s mentality, and the intimidating behavior of the
society leaves a person with no control over their life. The parable Before the Law is
a remarkable piece of work; it entails the element of... Show more content on

K-T Extinction Outline
Dalia Rodriguez Historical Geology 205 November 25, 2015 KT Extinction
Abstract
The Cretaceous Tertiary extinction, also known as the K T extinction, was a global
extinction event that struck the Yucatan Peninsula at the end of the end of the
Mesozoic Era, 65 million years ago. Walter Alvarez first discovered a meteorite big
enough to be called a small asteroid that hit the Earth, creating the Chicxulub crater.
Once the asteroid struck the North American continent, there were igneous rocks
underneath the crater that contained high levels of a rare siderophile element,
iridium. This catrostopic event had a massive effect on the environment, as several
mammals, birds, and plants became extinct. It also caused an impact winter that
made it impossible for plants and plankton to photosynthesis, as 75% of inland
animals and 90% of marine species were affected. Not only did it cause an impact
winter, but the asteroid also caused volcanic eruptions, climate change and sea level
rise. Geologists have also found rich dinosaur, plant and marine fossils to illustrate
the K T extinction. This event not only caused species to become extinct, but it also
had an adaptive radiation, as other species were able to diversify.
Introduction
The asteroid colliding with Earth left evidence in the planets core and mantle with
iridium and shocked quartz. Iridium is present in extraterrestrial objects like asteroids
and meteorites. The asteroid impact
Monsanto Glyphosate Resistant Soybean (40-3-2
Monsanto producer created a glyphosate resistant soybean crop called GTS 40 3 2,
commonly known as Roundup Ready soybeans. The crop is produced by inserting a
CP4 5 enolpyruvylshikimate 3 phosphate ( CP4 EPSPS) gene from Agrobacterium
tumefaciens, a common soil bacteria. CP4 EPSPS facilitates the soybeans
survivability by allowing the crop to become resistant to extreme temperatures,
ensuring higher survival rates and successful harvests. Initially, Monsanto used
electroporation to achieve maximum cell viability and transient gene expression,
however, the high voltage required for the electroporation technique (400 V) caused
instability in cell wall synthesis and cell division. Monsanto were then able to inject
the CP4 EPSPS gene into the cell wall of soybeans by using particle bombardment to
penetrate through the cell wall with minimal damage and produced stable progeny
that expressed resistance to glyphosate.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This particular promoter is vital for the survival and success of the soybean, which
is why it considered to be a dependable promoter not only for soybeans, but for other
genetically modified crops such as maize and beans. Monsanto used ОІ glucuronidase
(GUS) as a selectable marker, to be the vehicle to transport the promoter and insert
the CP4 EPSPS through transcriptional replacement (Jefferson, 1987). The GUS
gene served as evidence of transformation; the GUS enzyme converts 5 bromo 4
chloro 3 indolyl ОІ D glucuronide into a blue precipitate (Agricultural Group of
Monsanto Company, 1993). Soybeans that were not transgenic would not produce
this blue color when exposed to the aforementioned substrate, indicating that
transformation did not take
A Perfect Day For Bananafish
A Perfect Day for Bananafish A Perfect Day for Bananafish put J. D. Salinger on
the map. It was published in The New Yorker in 1948, and few short stories in the
history of American letters have met with such immediate acclaim. To a modern
reader, it is easy to miss what to 40 s readers was the story s principal and
disturbing undercurrent: post traumatic stress disorder. The late 40 s were in large
part a period of reaction to World War II, as exhibited in the burgeoning school of
film noir, the influx of apocalyptic B movies, and new waves in philosophy and
literary theory. Bananafish , with its unsettling mixture of the mundane and the
tragic, the light hearted and the cataclysmic, captured, in its straightforward,
deceptively muted style and sensibility, the push and pull condition of returning
WWII veterans (of which Salinger was one). The ending comes across as a
complete shock, and Salinger refuses to linger on it. The very last phrase of the
story is fired a bullet through his right temple leaving readers speechless and denying
them authorial intervention to interpret the event. The result is that a reader must
backtrack in memory through the story to construct a logical framework that can
guide him or her from the comic bounciness of the beginning to the sudden
bloodshed at the end. Salinger s decision to send such disparate tones careening into
one another is a way of underlining the essential absurdity of war as it seeps into and
refuses to leave

Parliamentary Sovereignty In The UK
During the buildup to the 2016 Brexit referendum those who campaigned to leave the
European Union did so in order to take back control of their nation, including taking
back control of parliamentary sovereignty. Parliamentary sovereignty is one of the
fundamental values of the United Kingdom s constitutional law but European Union
law, since the 1972 European Communities Act, trumps that sovereignty. This
transpired due to the United Kingdombecoming a member of the European Union
where EU law takes primacy over national law. With being a member of the European
Union it entailed that the key law making body would be that of the European
Commission rather than Westminster Parliament. Many European Union regulations
can bypass Parliament and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As human rights become more prevalent the courts could transition into the main law
making body in regards to protecting those rights in common law. Baroness Hale in
Jackson v Her Majesty s A G (2005) states, The courts will treat... any attempt to
subvert the rule of law by removing governmental actions affecting the rights of the
individual from all judicial scrutiny. By this Baroness Hale meant that even though
Parliament has sovereignty, the courts will intervene if legislation over steps its
boundaries and affects human rights, as depicted in the Human Rights Act 1998. The
limitations to Parliamentary Sovereignty is not something new but instead has been
witnessed throughout the formation of this modern society. For example, in the
North Atlantic Treaty 1949 article 5 states that members must come to the defense
of fellow members, which suggests a forfeiture of sovereignty over utilizing British
forces. Also part of being a member of the World Trade Organization means that the
United Kingdom is subject to global regulation and arbitration of its goods and
services, which is another trade off of sovereignty. The European Communities Act
1972 can be seen as another type of exchange of sovereignty for the greater good of
the country. During the 17th century Parliamentary Sovereignty was needed to create
order out of chaos but in the modern world
The Purpose Of Government
What is the Purpose of Government?
Government, the thing that makes our lives function everyday has countless roles
they play in running a country. Some of these roles consist of listening to the citizens,
providing safety and controlling the money aspect of the country. The purpose of
government is to provide safety, control the money of the country and listen to the
citizens because throughout history it has been proven that they have been the most
crucial and effective parts of a government.
Throughout history the way of government has been perceived very differently, from
John Locke to Adolf Hitler everyone has their own opinion of how government
should work. John Locke said that government needs to provide services and offer
protections which has been known as the social contract. (Why Government 1).
Another philosopher, Thomas Hobbes also stated that he thought that one of the
government s main purposes was to provide protection for the citizens rights. (Why
Government 2). Adolf Hitler s idea of government on the other hand was way more
diverse than any other philosopher. His idea was to eliminate all Jews and
communists from his country (Germany), then build up a military to try and restore
Germany which required him to basically turn Germany into a dictatorship. (Nazi
Germany).
From having a Military to having laws, one of the government s main purposes is to
protect and ultimately keep the country safe. One way the

There are various issues in intrusion detection system. It must detect the malicious
activities going on in a network and deal with the enormous amount of network
traffic. In this paper, things like accuracy and efficiency using CRFs and Layered
Approach have been addressed.
The CRFs reduce the number of false alarms thus improving the attack detection
accuracy, while the overall system efficiency can be improved using Layered
Approach. Thus, an obvious way it to sum them up for building a system that
accurately detects attacks.Four attack layers are selected related to the attack
groups(U2R, DoS, R2L, and Probe) and perform feature selection for each layer.
The results from individual classifiers at a layer are not combined at any later stage
in the Layered Approach, hence,we can block the attack at the detected layer.

Essay about The Psychology of Robert Frost’s Nature
Poetry
The Psychology of Robert Frost s Nature Poetry
Robert Frost s nature poetry occupies a significant place in the poetic arts; however,
it is likely Frost s use of nature is the most misunderstood aspect of his poetry. While
nature is always present in Frost s writing, it is primarily used in a pastoral sense
(Lynen 1). This makes sense as Frost did consider himself to be a shepherd.
Frost uses nature as an image that he wants us to see or a metaphor that he wants us
to relate to on a psychological level. To say that Frost is a nature poet is inaccurate.
His poetry is in the main psychologically oriented with emphasis on specific recurring
themes, which include, but are not limited to, loneliness, retreat, spirituality, darkness,
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The contrast between the humans and nature enables Frost to deal with and illustrate
significant issues affecting humans.
A very interesting point regarding Frost s relationship with nature is that he views
it with ambiguity. Most assume that Frost is a nature lover; however, while this is
true in part, Frost also views nature as having the capability of being destructive.
Lynen speaks of this duality by saying, You cannot have one without the other:
love of natural beauty and horror at the remoteness and indifference of the physical
world are not opposites but different aspects of the same view (7). On speaking of
Frost s dualistic view of nature, Phillip L. Gerber states, For nature is hard as she is
soft, she can destroy and thwart, disappoint, frustrate, and batter (132). Robert Frost
views nature as an alien force capable of destroying man , but on the flip side, he
also views man s struggle with nature as a heroic battle (quoted in Thompson).
In his poem Our Hold on the Planet Frost illustrates this point by saying,
There is much in nature against us. But we forget:
Take nature altogether since time began Including human nature, in peace and war,
And it must be a little more in favor of man, Say a fraction of one percent at the very
least,
Or our number living wouldn t be steadily more, Our hold on the planet wouldn t
have so increased. (Frost 317).
Hardest Math Class
I agree with what a teacher at AP readiness said about Calculus, Calculus is the
hardest math course, but it is the easiest math as well. While this might sound
counterintuitive, it is simple to explain. Calculus uses skills from previous courses
such as equation manipulation, finding x, and interpreting graphs. Like other math
courses it is a continuation of your knowledge, but uses more formulas.
When you enter this course, you are expected to already have some knowledge on
Geometry, Trigonometry, and Algebra. Geometry will be used to find the area or
volume of a graph, which is its integral. In Trigonometry, you must be comfortable
with sin, cos, and tan functions because they will appear often. You must also know
the trigonometric identities and unit circle if you want to speed right through these
sorts of problems. Out of the three, I must ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This class will require you to put some effort in, so habits such as procrastination
and not studying will drop your grade. I would recommend that you turn in all
your assignments and do well in your tests early on. As time goes on, the work will
become more complex. This will make it harder to do as well in tests, and some
may see a slight decline in their grade. If your grade was already high, then a slight
decline will not affect your grade unless your grade was already low to begin with.
In the beginning of the school year you should also look for different resources that
you can use when you get stuck. This way, if you did not understand something in
the lecture or book, you can always turn to another place. If you need to, buy a study
book for calculus. Personally, I did not used a study book, but I had friends who did
and they did used them often because it helped them. Websites such as Shmoop,
Khan academy, and Hippocampus should be familiar with you. In these websites,
they explain Calculus through different methods, so finding one that suits you should

Iran and Modernity
All states within the international system have to bow to the inevitable and embrace
its inherent dynamic force that determines the structure of their governance. Thus, no
society within the international arena can stay in voluntary solitary confinement and
ward itself off modernity. Berman defines modernism as any attempt by modern men
and women to become subjects as well as objects of modernisation, to get a grip on
the modern world and make themselves at home in it (Berman_1988_p. 5), which
becomes increasingly troubled especially in relation to modernising the societal
system of the Muslim countries. One of the most salient examples demonstrating a
feasible solution to establishing a comparatively stable structure of governance,...

Successful incorporation of Islamic principles into the Constitution embodies the
principles of religious reformism explicitly underpinning the profound formative role
of Islam defining the legal identity of the country. Indeed, Iranian history offers other
quintessential examples of modernisation attempts invoking the spirit of emulation.
Reza Shah follows the trend of social modernisation while striving to further reshape
the structure of Iranian society by implementing a multitude of reforms including
education health, transport or industrial sectors. Despite their relative success, Shah s

Child Soldiers At Home
When you picture a child, do you picture a once innocent but now traumatized,
once caring but now bloodthirsty child carrying a gun taller than himself. This is
what a child soldier would look like. These kids are As of 2013, there are
approximately 300,000 children serving in militaries or in radical groups around the
world. They are either volunteered or have been taken by force into these militias,
but most who volunteer have lost their family to the tragedies of war. These children
are victims. Victims of abuse and victims of violence. They have been abandoned on
the streets with nowhere to go but the military, the children are exposed to terrible

legal property of another and is forced to obey them, and it is unnecessary to state
the definition of sex. Put together, these girls are are being forced to have sex with
both young and grown men. Most, if not all, of these girls aren t even in their 20 s,
let alone 18. In the United States, the act of sexual intercourse with participants
under the age of 18 is illegal; this is called rape. It is punishable with 10 15 years in
prison or a life sentence. There is no one in their right mind who could possibly
think of a counter argument for this. The fact that young girls are being raped and
abused is just wrong. In conclusion, a child soldier is a victim of war. They have been
traumatized almost to the point of no return. We should have sympathy for them and

Persuasive Essay On Home Alone
Most people never thought of what it would be like to have your wish come true,
and at the same time having to face the scariest thing as a kid all in just two days.
One thing is true for a fact that we do love our family greatly, yet we all have taken
our anger out on our family also by saying some things that we probably shouldn t
have, causing our emotions to take over and have no control over what happens
next. Therefore, in a film as a kid Kevin McCallister (a 9 year old) decides to take
all his anger out on his family after being name called and teased. His mom then
sends him to the attic where he then tells her that he hates his family, but that he also
wishes to never see them again. His wish did, in fact, come true, he was left home
aloneon Christmas Eve while his family was on vacation. The thingis he has to face
two robbers in an event of the battle of good vs. evil just to save his house, nor does
he have anyone to look up too. But does he? Having no family there makes it even
harder, and Kevin soon realizes that maybe his family is what matters most. This film
is called Home Alone, In the film Home Alone, the storyteller uses the archetype the
hero s regrets and the mentor s advice to illustrate that we as humans tend to say
rude and hurtful things towards the people we love the most when we are angry
because we don t appreciate what we have until we lose it, and we don t realize how
thankful we are for our family until something happens where we need
Lydia s Loyalty In The Longest Memory
A number of character s actions and naivety in The Longest Memory contribute to
the death of Chapel, but none more so than the plantation owner s daughter, Lydia.
Lydia lacks in most life experiences which causes an error in judgement leading to
the death of Chapel, who she loved dearly. However there are other factors involved
in Chapel s death including those of Whitechapel, his father, which majorly
contributes. Both women and slaves cannot claim any true responsibility due to the
era in which this noveltakes place. None the less the actions and naivety of these two
characters and the actions of other characters such as Sanders Junior directly or
indirectly lead to the whipping of Chapel, in which he dies from.

Whitechapel made the decision, when Chapel ran away, that he would tell his
Master that his son had taken the river path rather than taking the usual straight
north path. Whitechapel believed that if he gave up his son s whereabouts he
would be saving his son s life. Whitechapel overestimated the master s respect for
himself. This could be due to his thinking that slaves who respect and listens to the
overseers and master s orders earn the small kindness of the overseer and master .
It will never be known if Chapel would have made it all the way north if his father
had never unzipped his lips but we do know that Whitechapel telling his master the
whereabouts of Chapel definitely made the chances of him making it north very
slim. If Whitechapel s reasons for telling the master were solely to save Chapel s
life for his own good then his intentions were good and it was simply just a
misjudgement. However Whitechapel also had a selfish reason for wanting Chapel
to return. Whitechapel wanted Chapel to return so that when he died Chapel would
be by his side. Whitechapel realises his part in Chapel s death saying that he killed
his son because [he] wanted him next to [his] side when [he] died . Whitechapel
telling his master the whereabouts did the opposite of what he believed would
happen and put his son in danger rather than keeping him safe. These actions
ultimately put Chapel into a situation where the odds of his
Ideas In The Classroom
14.Identify occasions on which the teacher specifically does not present the ideas that
he or she wants students to learn but instead conducts activities in which the students
must construct that knowledge for themselves. There really were no instances when
the teacher presented any ideas for students to construct their own knowledge of an
idea, except when they began regrouping with subtraction. She gave the students
problems to work out to see if they could do it or not before actually going over how
to do it. Other than that, she models everything and the whole class guides her
through the model or she guides them through the model. Much of what she is doing
is modeling the concepts for them before they complete the tasks that she assigns
them. 15.Look for instances in which students statements or behaviors reflect
misconceptions about the subject matter being studied. Many students were confused
about what were expected of them during certain activities. They were hesitant to say

Maya, Inca, And Aztec Societies
Mesoamerica is full of rich culture. Expeditions have revealed monuments of valiant,
female sultan erected for display and iconography feminine in appearance. Women
have played a prominent role in defining cultures; such is the case for Maya, Inca,
and Aztec societies. Maya culture relied heavily on the femalepopulation. Before,
agrarian labor was seen as a maledomineering field; however, studies of the Classic
Maya culture indicates farming was a communal occupation. All citizens, including
children, participated in farming and other domestic tasks central to the
communities upkeep. Roles in politics were also open to women, and contextual
evidence indicate[s] that women played important roles .. [in] Maya, politics
(Stockett). The sovereignty of the Classical Maya was embedded in the separation
of noble houses. Each house governed by either a man or women, especially
mothers , placing an independent value on the sexes.(Brumfiel). Textiles, which were
almost exclusively made by women, became a leading factor in the economy the
Maya relied on. One of the main priorities the female had was to turn resources into
goods that the society could profit from. Without the contribution of women, the
Maya would not have achieved the feats they did, shaping politics and religious
festivals. Both home keeping and childcare were activities for women to carry out.
Similar to the societal divide seen in the Maya, Incan genders were independently
established. The rift
A Brief Note On Pollution And Water Pollution
The Mississippi River is the most polluted river in America, many chemicals such as
phosphate and chlorine can be polluted in the water. Precipitation can cause runoff
water and can sweep trash and chemicals into the rivers or any nearest water source.
This project is concerned about if precipitation has an effect on pollution in the Spoon
river. Anybody of water that is contaminated with pollutants, is called Water Pollution
. There are two types of water pollution, Nonpoint and Point specific pollution.
Nonpoint pollution cannot be found by a specific location and can be caused by
runoff water, an example of this pollution is pesticides (Flinn Scientific, 2009).
Chemicals and fertilizers can run off into the water supply(Mary Beth Abel
Hughes, James Sammons, Scott Eddleman, Pamela J. W. Gore, Daniel P. Murray,
Patsy Eldridge, 2007). Water moves over the ground and picks up chemicals and
other waste into a body of water (Flinn Scientific, 2009). Pollution that can be
pinpointed at a specific place and can be found and reduce the problem of pollution,
an example of this pollution is factories, is known as Point Specific Pollution. (Flinn
Scientific, 2009). Since Earth is becoming industrialized, water is being used and
more waste is thrown into usable water (Flinn Scientific, 2009) About 70% of
factories and industries dump waste into usable water(40factsaboutwaterpollution,
2013). Waste is produced by Industries and is dump it into the nearest water source

Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Theory
Erik Erikson s psychosocial theory and Sigmund Freud s psychosexual theory are
two well known theories of personality development with various similarities and
differences. While Erikson was influenced by Freud s ideas, his theory differed in
a number of important ways and was ultimately created to be an improvement to
Freud s personality development theory (Friedman Schustack, 2012). Like Freud s
psychosexual theory, Erikson agreed that personality progresses in a sequence of
predetermined phases. However, unlike Freud s theory of psychosexual stages,
Erikson s theory describes the impact of social experience across the whole
lifespan (Hoare, 2005). According to Freud s psychosexual theory, personality
develops across 5 sexual stages while Erikson s develops among 8 social stages.
Freud s theory has fewer stages due to his belief that the last stage of identity
develops during adolescence, while Erikson s theory had more stages because he
believed an individual s identity continually evolved over their entire lifetime (Hoare,
2005). The 5 stages of Freud s theory: Oral, Anal, Phallic, Latency and Genital, will be
discussed, compared and contrasted with Erikson s 8 stages: Trust vs. Mistrust,
Autonomy vs. Doubt, Initiative vs. Guilt, Industry vs. Inferiority, Identity vs. Role
Confusion, Intimacy vs. Isolation, Generativity vs. Stagnation, and Integrity vs.
Despair (Passer, Smith, Atkinson, Mitchell Muir, 2011). Each stage in Erikson s
theory involves a
How Oil Prices Affect the Price of Food
How Oil Prices Affect the Price of Food
By Post Carbon | Wed, 21 December 2011 18:07
The current global food system is highly fuel and transport dependent. Fuels will
almost certainly become less affordable in the near and medium term, making the
current, highly fuel dependent agricultural production system less secure and food
less affordable. It is therefore necessary to promote food self sufficiency and
reduce the need for fuel inputs to the food system at all levels. The connection
between food and oil is systemic, and the prices of both food and fuel have risen and
fallen more or less in tandem in recent years (figure 1). Modern agriculture uses oil
products to fuel farm machinery, to transport other inputs to the farm, and to ... Show

The trends in the oil industry are clear and undisputed: exploration and production
are becoming more costly, and are giving rise to greater environmental risks, while
competition for access to new prospective regions is generating increasing
geopolitical tensions. According to the International Energy Agency, the rate of
world crude oil production reached its peak in 2006.[IEA 2010a) The IMF has
joined a chorus of energy industry analysts in concluding that scarcity and high
prices are here to stay.[IMF 2011a, 2011b] A collapse in demand for oil resulting
from sharply declining global economic activity could cause oil prices to fall, as
happened in late 2008. Indeed, this is a fairly likely possibility. But while it would
make oil cheaper, it would not make fuel more affordable to most people. It is
theoretically possible for the world to curb oil demand through policies that limit
consumption, and it is also conceivable that some unexpected technological
breakthrough could rapidly result in a cheap, effective alternative to petroleum.
However, these latter two developments are rather improbable. Thus there is no
likely scenario in which the services provided by oil will become more affordable
within the context of a stable global economy at any time in the foreseeable future.
While wealthy consumers are able to absorb incremental increases in food prices, a
sudden interruption in the availability of fuel (due to geopolitical

policeman, and a civilian deputized specifically for the arrest.[3] Without ever

In the Court s highly fragmented decision, the justices attempted to define a proper
balance of and boundary between federal and state authority: by arguing that state
action constituted only those acts sanctioned by the state s laws and by dismissing
Section 20 for vagueness, the major block of dissenters suggested that the risk posed
to state autonomy by federal intervention was too great; by recognizing the
defendants actions as those perpetrated under color of law and by creating a willful
test for acts under Section 20, the majority Opinion affirmed the federal government s
interest in protecting the rights of citizens from abuse by state authority, but provided
it with a tenuous means for defending those liberties.
Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia, received a call to collect
Bobby Hall from the Newton jail at approximately 2:30 a.m. on January 30,
1943.[6] When the ambulance drivers, Manley Poteat and Henry Neal, entered the
jail cell where Hall lay dying, they saw blood on the floor around his unconscious
body.[7] As already stated, Hall died shortly after his arrival at the hospital. It did
not take long for suspicion to arise regarding the circumstances of his death. A post

showing many contusions and bruises, covered with dirt and blood. The back of his
skull was beaten soft. [8] Hall s father, Willie Hall, noted that there
I Felt Like Making A Deep Breath Of Fresh Air
It is my impression that a poem is complicated, obscure, and must have deep
meaning. However, after reading William Carlos Williams poems, I felt like
making a deep breath of fresh air. It was the first time I felt that poems could be
simple like this. In his poems, everything is expressed in simple words. Even a
reader as me, an international student, could understand his words easily. Also, the
images he described are the common but neglected scenes. Nonetheless, when I
closed the book, some of the images overlapped with my memory. It seemed like
something happened before in my experience but I ignored. The fragments now
look so beautiful. I especially like his poems To a Poor Old Woman, Poem, and
Her Daughter. These three poems help me to find the beauty around me, help me
to change a direction to see the world, help me to appreciate. In the poem To a Poor
Old Woman, Williams described an old woman eating plums on the street.
Munching a plum on the street a paper bag of them in her hand. I was laughing
when I read this. Eagerly eating something on the street, I believe it happened in
many people s life. For example, I have a nice memory of eating a hot roast sweet
potato on the street in a cold winter afternoon. However, some people think eating
on the street is impolite and unsightly. In New York, eating on the street even is
illegal in some residential neighborhoods. For an poor old woman in the poem, she
might had no free time or a spacious dining room to enjoy her

The Friar and the Pardoner The Canterbury Tales, retold by Geraldine
McCaughrean, is composed of many stories told by different characters on the
road to Canterbury. On their pilgrimage, each of the characters tells a different
story in a contest to win a free dinner when they get to Canterbury. Many of the
tales have similar morals, but the tellers are very different, such as the tales of the
Friar and the Pardoner. Though both of these tales have a similar plot and can be
interpreted in a similar way, their tellers are significantly different. Although the
Friar and the Pardoner are very different people, they both have a similarly
structured story, using a symbolic demons as the antagonist, and with very similar
plotlines. In the Pardoner s Tale, three unintelligent men want to find and murder
someone named Death who is killing many people. The three men stumble upon a
pot of gold, which happens to be Death s pot of gold. They all split the money in
the pot and become rich. While one of the three leaves to buy wine to celebrate
their fortune, the two guarding the gold become greedy and plot to kill the other
so they can keep his gold. However, the one who left had a similar idea, and poisons
the wine he brings to dinner. That night, the two who guarded the gold kill the other
one, but then drink the poisoned wine to celebrate. They all die, and Death takes
back his gold. In the Friar s Tale, a Summoner meets up

a negative impact on female adolescents. To begin, beauty pageants are not equal to

Russian Revolution Essay
Russia had been an autocratic government for 300 years under the Romanov
Dynasty before the revolution of 1917. When problems started in the early 1900 s
most people were serfs that had been freed about 20 years before. In 1914 during
World War One, Czar Nicholas II decided to stay in war with Germany despite what
the rest of his country thought. Nicholas posed a distraction from the countries
problems. His plan was to keep his soldiers minds off of the horrible living conditions
of Russiaby staying in war with Germany and starting a war with Japan in hope that
he would lead his country to a victory; both wars were lost, giving Russian citizens
more to be upset about. Russia s Army was extremely weak, made mainly of

Marxists would later turn into the communist party. The czar was completed
unaware of this discontent until people came to his winter palace to protest, many
were killed by the czars soldiers. He created the idea of a parliament, called a

calmed down a little bit after this addition to the government. A few months later,
Germany declared war on Russian. With a withered army, Russia suffered a hard
loss. Some soldiers for the Russians were so angry with the czar that they switched
sides, and fought with the Germans. Nicholas was still oblivious to the threat over
his reign. He received a letter from a member of the Duma complaining about the
horrible state of the country, but Nicholas thought nothing of it. The czar realized
how serious the letter was when everyone in the streets was angry with him. Wanting
to keep his life, he abdicated. Nicholas offered the throne to his brother. An intelligent
man, he declined the offer. After this, the provisional government took over, with
Alexander Kerensky as the prime minister. One of his policies allowed radicals, like

The Value Of Bluebeard By Charles Perrault
In a husband and wife relationship communication is key, without communication
there is room for deceit and rumors to do nothing but distance or even turn the couple
on each other. Compromise is also extremely important in order to have a successful
relationship, otherwise the relationship will be tense and neither person will be
content with the relationship. Fairy tales will often center around a toxic marriagethat
causes nothing but grief to the wife, the husband, or even both because of that
missing communicationand compromise. In a criticism piece by Walter Benjamin,
he writes on how sometimes the value lies in a moral; at other times practical
advice is offered; and occasionally there is a proverb or maxim (Benjamin 358). The

relationship between Hansel and Gretel s parents has negatively affected them. Fairy

effect that a relationship between two people can have on others outside of the

Many think the Mayan calendars solely predicted the end of the world. However,
there are many other things to learn about the Mayan calendars. The Mayans of
Guatemala were educated people that had many different dating systems. They used
glyphs and the sky to help them tell time. Although one common interest is the long

worked together to create the Calendar Round. The Mayans also used the sky to give
them the Lunar Series, and this also gave them another way to tell time. Overall, the

The Stereotypes Of Cheapskate, Impulsive Buyer
We see many people when shopping. In public, we are able to see what they are
wearing, how they act, their attitude, and their personality. These people can range
from many different stereotypes such as: the Cheapskate, the Impulsive Buyer, and
the Hater. Even though these people have different attitudes toward shopping, they all
have the same goal: which is to to shop. Coupons, sales, rewards, and memberships
are the holy grail to a shopping Cheapskate. They are the people we see at the
checkout with a book of coupons and dollar signs in their eyes. Cheapskates are
individuals who never buy anything full price and will stop at nothing to save a
buck. These singular identities use coupons all the time and only shop on sales racks.

Analysis Of The Article The Price On Rice
The Price on Rice
When headlines began popping out sanguine stories about Africa s emerging market a
few years ago, everyone from nations to companies to individuals perked up. The
continent seemed ripe for a green revolution (Nsehe). In 2009 to 2010, a handful of
private equity firms and institutional investors thrust into the continent s promising
agriculture markets before others could join the land grab (Henshaw). Some forty
five other equity firms planned to invest in the coming three to five years (Henshaw).
The sentiment continued through 2011, when Forbes released an article naming
agriculture the first of 5 top investment opportunities in Africa for the coming year
(Nsehe). Since then, the lust for African agriculture has faded due to the uneven,
laggard development of the African economy. Only recently has interest returned.
Trends have shown the continent s agriculture industry to be on the rise; economic
growth has returned as well. This is characteristic of a promising emerging market, on
the frontier of economic success. Africa simply needs a launch pad: help from foreign
entities to jump start its agriculture. With the population increasing, and consequently
the demand for food, this focus may be West Africas rice production. Thus, an FDI in
rice production may not only be profitable, but impactful. Several factors, including
demand and supply, market status, and past investments show this market to be
promising. However, current risks make investment

make each painting has it own meaning. There are several differences between
Lautrec s painting and Degas painting, which are the artists themselves, the subject
matter, the emotions depicted, and the technique of painting.
The first difference between the paintings is the artists themselves. An artist is a
person who produces an artwork. Henri de Toulouse Lautrec is a french man. He was
born into an aristocratic family, which seems to be beneficial to him. However, he
was born with a genetic condition. Between the ages of thirteen and fourteen, his

Composition means the position that each element placed in a painting. Lautrec
managed the position of the feature in Seated Dancer in Pink Tights by focusing on
the center and painting this ballerina in a major scale of the artwork (Martin, 2003).
On the other hand, Degas painted two objects in Waiting, and the artist divided the
space into two section for each of them (Martin, 2003). There are numerous
techniques to place features into different positions. Seated Dancer in Pink Tight,
Lautrec s painting, focuses on the single object at the center of the painting, which is
a ballerina. On the other side, Degas s painting illustrates several features, which is a

The Percy Jackson Series
Rick Riordan, a bestselling American author of the Percy Jackson series, the Kane
Chronicles series, the Heroes of Olympus series, the Magnus Chase trilogy and the
Trials of Apollo series, was born on June 5, 1964. Riordan grew up in Texas, where
he attended Alamo Heights High School, and for his tertiary education, he double
majored in English and history (more specifically, mythology of ancient civilisations),
which was the first step towards writinghis genre of books. This helped steer him
towards writing his specific genre of books as his English studies helped him with
writing his books, and his history studies made him write books about ancient
civilisations (e.g. Percy Jackson, Magnus Chase, Trials of Apollo, etc). After
graduating from university, he chose to be a teacher at middle schools in San Antonio
and the San... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main character of the series, Percy Jackson, is a 12 year old boy who suffers
from dyslexia and ADHD, who, after 12 years of thinking that he is just another
child who had a father who abandoned him, finds out that his father is a Ancient
Greek god. Percy Jackson s personality is very similar to that of Haley, and the fact
that the demigods in the series have ADHD and dyslexia is solely because the first
book was made as a bedtime story for Haley Riordan, a dyslexic as a child (he
overcame it in his adolescence). After publishing the first book and receiving very
positive remarks from readers, he continued on with the series, and it ended up
being a very successful series (it was on The New York Times Best Seller list for
childen s book series for 223 weeks). After writing this series, feeling unsatisfied,
Riordan wrote the Kane Chronicles trilogy (which was also a very successful series)
and has been writing countless series up to this day, residing in an apartment/studio

The Chaos Of The Storm By William Golding Analysis
Everybody knew the the storm was coming. The clouds were building, the air felt
as if it could explode, the color drained from the water. It s this setting where a
terrible incident occurs in Lord of the Flies, where a group of kids is stranded on
an island with no adults, and a struggle over power emerges. To make matters worse,
the kids believe there s a beast on the island. In Chapter 9, the stormstrikes both
physically and figuratively. The boys fears and violent emotions kick in and lead
them to kill Simon, a quiet but kind boy whom they mistakenly think is the beast in
the chaos of the storm. Author William Goldinguses strong word choices, repetition
and figurative language to create a frightening climax where stormy emotions break...

A strong storm is approaching the island, foreshadowing the murder by mob of
Simon. Golding uses the storm to build drama. His word choice describes the coming
of the storm and the boys increasingly wild behavior, using words such as thrust and
clamorously. He then uses repetition to show the storm has arrived, with both the
lightning continuously striking and the boys chants coming faster and faster. And
finally, he uses animal imagery to unleash the beast, resulting in the death of Simon.
Like any violent thunderstorm, there is damage left over. For the boys, this storm will
forever ruin their

James Dickey All American Poet Essay
James Dickey All American Poet James Dickey was an American Poet whose life
has been very diverse, and in his poetry that diversity is shown. He has a lifestyle
that most poets do not get to experience. He has lived in many states and countries.

Bmw, Honda, And Saab Cars
According to perceptual maps, the BMW, Honda, and SAAB cars are the main
competitors. This is because their positions are close to the Infinity G20 in the
map. Individuals view Infinity G20 as a brand for success. Moreover, they think
that it s more attractive as compared to its competitors. However, the BMW is the
most prestigious and most quite, according to the perceptual map. SAAB is the
most roomy and most quite car, according to the perceptual map. Also in Exhibit 1,
most of the respondents perceive BMW as more prestigious than the infinity G20
in the market. Most people perceive Infinity G20 as a quite car and more reliable
than most of its competitors. However, BMW and Toyota Supra proved to be the
best regarding reliability. Customers think the infinity G20 in the best built car
against its competitors. However, it doesn t stand out regarding conformability
and the ease of service. On an overall score, BMW, SAAB 900 and the Honda
emerged as the most preferred on an average rating. 2.Infiniti promoted the G20 as a
Japanese car (basic version $17,500) with a German feel, basically a car that was like
the BMW 318i ($20,000), but lower priced. Is this a credible claim, given the
perceptions and preferences of the respondents?
 According to the respondents
perceptions, the infinity G20 and the BMW 318i are almost a like. BMW s
attractiveness is slightly higher. Both cars fall into the category of the best built cars.
Subsequently, respondents think that the two
Life Changing Actions In Stephen King s The First
Argument
Have you ever began to notice subtle changes that turn into life changing actions in
someone close to you? They go from a friend whom you tell all of your problems,
and a respectable son with a blooming future, to a distant friend who you used to
know, and a son who is flushing the life who he used to know down the toilet. This is
the life of Dennis Guilder, Regina Cunningham, and her husband. Set in 1970 s
America, Christine, is written from the perspective of Dennis Guilder who know the
most about Arnie. Being his best friend, Dennis has had the opportunity to witness
the life of Arnie Cunningham. In addition, he has studied the character of Arnie
parents, Regina and Michael Cunningham who are college professors at Horlicks
University. In Stephen Kings novel, Christine, conflict arises between Arnie
Cunningham, and Dennis Guilder and Regina Cunningham and Michael
Cunningham. All of them, with the exception of Arnie, try to resolve their problems
with Arnie. In the novel, Regina Cunningham uses her aristocratic personality to
exterminate the problembetween Arnie and herself. In the second chapter of
Christine, The First Argument takes place between the family,
Arnie looked at them, his eyes odd and white and dangerous. I m telling you, I m
going to have this. This one thing.
Arnie, the insurance... Michael began.
Stop it! Regina shouted. She didn t want to start talking about specific problems
because that was the first step on the road to possible acceptance;

Write Essays

  • 1. Write Essays Writing an essay on the topic of "Write Essays" poses a unique challenge as it requires a level of self-awareness and reflexivity. The irony of crafting an essay about the very act of essay writing adds a layer of complexity. Expressing thoughts about the process of constructing an essay about writing essays involves a delicate balance between introspection and objective analysis. One might find oneself navigating through the intricacies of language, structure, and coherence, all while attempting to convey the nuances of the essay-writing experience. The endeavor involves a continuous loop of drafting, revising, and refining, reflecting the iterative nature of the writing process itself. The challenge lies not only in addressing the technical aspects of essay construction but also in capturing the essence of the creative and intellectual journey one undergoes while grappling with words and ideas. The paradox of narrating the difficulties of essay writing while actually engaging in the act might create a meta-narrative, where the writer becomes both the subject and the object of exploration. This self-referentiality introduces layers of interpretation, making the task more intricate than a conventional essay on a different subject matter. In conclusion, writing an essay on "Write Essays" is a demanding task that requires a heightened level of self-awareness and the ability to navigate the complexities of meta-writing. It's an exercise in exploring the recursive nature of expressing thoughts about the process of expression itself. The challenge lies not only in the technical aspects but also in capturing the essence of the intellectual and creative journey involved in essay writing. For those seeking assistance with essays or similar academic tasks, various resources are available, including online platforms like HelpWriting.net, where you can find support for your writing needs. Essay on The Underdogs Demetrio Macias , Hope for the Commoners In The Underdogs written by Mariano Azuela, we are introduced to a character that strongly symbolizes the fuel of the Mexican Revolution. Heroes like Demetrio Macias brought the Serrano s hope of giving them what they felt they truly deserved. Although Demetrio Macias, the general (colonel) of a rebel army is hunting down the army of Pancho Villa, he seems to have the same ideals as the enemy. In addition to Demetrio Macias, we meet women like Camilla and War Paint who represent the different roles that women played during the Mexican Revolution. The character of Demetrio Macias proves to be quite ironic. One facet of his character reveals his determination to find Pancho Villa s army,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (pg. 48) Luis Cervantes explains his cause when he says The triumph of our cause, which is the sublime triumph of Justice, because our ideal to be free the noble, long suffering people of Mexico is about to be realized and because those men who have watered the earth with their blood and tears will reap the harvest which is rightfully theirs. (pg. 69) With respect to the degradation of women in The Underdogs, we must profile the two women portrayed in the book. On one hand we have the conservative Camilla, and on the other, we have War Paint. War Paint was the opposite of what society held as the typical woman. War Paint went against the grain, and partook in events which professor Tinsman explained was common for women in the army to do in those days. She drank, swore, and had many lovers like a man. Professor Tinsman also explained the traditional roles that women held in society. Camilla is a great example of the way women acted during this time. The following is an excerpt the is preceded by Luis Cervantes speech about how Camilla should take advantage of Demetrio Macias interest in her. She is not persuaded because she is truly interested
  • 3. A Study On Chemical Reactions Tony Metz 9/18/14 Prussing School 006/7th Review of Literature A chemical reaction is the communication (or interaction) between elements (Green, 2012). Chemical reactions can happen naturally or can be caused by a person. They can even happen inside of a living being (Newmark, 2000). Some chemical reactions can just happen randomly and others need different amounts of energy for them to occur. Heat can provide chemicals with the energy for this to happen. For example, dynamite is extremely sensitive to any shock. When it senses the sparks of a lit fuse, a fast chemical reaction between fuel and a source that will burn it causes the dynamite to explode (Newmark, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Baking soda contains sodium bicarbonate and is an ingredient used in cooking. It can also be called NaHCO3 (Science Buddies, 2002 2014). It raises bread while in the oven and creates small holes full of oxygen. The oxygen created is part of the combustion of the chemical reaction. Another way to say sodium bicarbonate is sodium hydrogen carbonate (Oxlade, 2002). Baking soda can be used to create a chemical reaction. One common combination including baking soda is the combination of baking soda and vinegar. This reaction is a main part of my project. Baking soda also has properties that help keep healthy skin and can protect the body and feet from infections. It has no smell and it is white and powdery. Baking soda can provide resistance from the common cold and the flu (2014, Organic Information Services, Health benefits of baking soda). Vinegar is an acid around 2 3 on the pH scale (it is a pretty weak acid). It can also be called CH3COOH (Science Buddies, 2002 2014). The pH scale measures if something is an acid or a base and determines how acidic or basic the substance is. Its main components are acetic acid and water. Vinegar is used to preserve foods and is also used as a condiment on many foods, such as salad dressing. Vinegar can clean well and is used to reduce the effects of a jellyfish sting (nd, Chemical Formula, 2014). Acetic acid is a colorless liquid (it s an acid). Acetic acid gives vinegar its taste. Envision yourself competing against an opponent who has been doping! How would you feel about that? Would you feel cheated? I know I would. As all the hard work, dedication, and effort I have put into my training has been reduce down to nothing. Can you also imagine what doping would do to the integrity of sport! The intrinsic worth that make sports so unique and important to society, such as the capability to challenge and push ourselves beyond our own limits, the honesty and sportsmanship qualities athletes learn and gain. So, does doping destroy the integrity of sport? Some may argue yes and some may say no for a few reasons that will be examined further into the essay. However, my response would be yes , as I personally believe those qualities that creates the uniqueness of sport would be eliminate when doping is involved. The manipulation of performance enhancing drugs will impact the sporting community in an unnecessary manner, by giving it an appalling reputation. This appalling reputation will develop as doping conveys a

Not only do they help to ensure that the organization is compliant, but they can also affect the formation of health care policy through various means. The consequences of noncompliance can be extremely detrimental to individuals and organizations. It is important that a manager understand what the policies are and how they must be met. It is important to stay informed of changes to existing health care policies or new policies in the works. The manager may work directly with the regulatory agencies, but at another time may work with a team within the organization. Either way, the manager must take appropriate actions to become or stay compliant to all appropriate policies, for himself, his team, and his organization (Weekly Overview Week 2, 2014). The Role of the Manager Under the new structure of corporate compliance, it is important to realize that the internal control of compliance programs is now the responsibility of the board, management, and other internal personnel. The responsibility clearly rests in the hands of management. The CEO is no longer able to merely place the blame on the executive staff (Buchbinder, 2012). Management has an ... • 8. Intellectual And Emotional Skills Of Practicing Music INTELLECTUAL AND EMOTIONAL SKILLS Practicing music affects human brains by improving intellectual and emotional skills. When a person plays an instrument, certain parts of the brain which are involved in controlling memory, hearing and motor skills are activated. In training music, a huge load of memory is required because a brain has to receive complicated auditory input. Therefore, the capacity to memorize expands and increases effectively (Spray, 2015). Songs don t only help kids memorize alphabets or learn new words, but also aid adult s ability to remember. A study from Ried School of Music, University of Edinburgh found that adults can remember a new foreign language better if they sing instead of speak the words (2014). The explanation is because rhythm, rhyme and alliteration in music put new words in a pattern and organize them. Thus, when one sings a song, the pattern comes out of their mind in sequence. It helps them recall the words quickly (Roediger). Music acts in the same function as visual image which is to illustrate abstract concepts into more concrete pictures. Not only does playing musical instruments improves memory ability, it also enhances cognitive skills. There are three main cognitive skills which are stimulated by music training; logical, verbal and spatial ones. Musicians need skills of fluently reading notes and counting rhythms which can help math or logical skills. According to the Center of the Developing Child at Harvard University,

The external conflict between man and society takes place when a person believes in something about a matter while their community disagrees with those beliefs. The conflicts between an individual and the society are reflected in these three short stories, The Bridegroom, Saboteur by Ha Jin, and Before the law by Kafka. The protagonists are directly or indirectly affected by the powerful and authoritative nature of laws made by their societies. Inequality of an individual in their society can evoke a passive or predatory behavior which can cause great harm to the society and to an individual s mentality, and the intimidating behavior of the society leaves a person with no control over their life. K-T Extinction Outline Dalia Rodriguez Historical Geology 205 November 25, 2015 KT Extinction Abstract The Cretaceous Tertiary extinction, also known as the K T extinction, was a global extinction event that struck the Yucatan Peninsula at the end of the end of the Mesozoic Era, 65 million years ago. Walter Alvarez first discovered a meteorite big enough to be called a small asteroid that hit the Earth, creating the Chicxulub crater. Once the asteroid struck the North American continent, there were igneous rocks underneath the crater that contained high levels of a rare siderophile element, iridium. This catrostopic event had a massive effect on the environment, as several mammals, birds, and plants became extinct. It also caused an impact winter that made it impossible for plants and plankton to photosynthesis, as 75% of inland animals and 90% of marine species were affected. Not only did it cause an impact winter, but the asteroid also caused volcanic eruptions, climate change and sea level rise. Geologists have also found rich dinosaur, plant and marine fossils to illustrate the K T extinction. This event not only caused species to become extinct, but it also had an adaptive radiation, as other species were able to diversify. Introduction The asteroid colliding with Earth left evidence in the planets core and mantle with iridium and shocked quartz. Iridium is present in extraterrestrial objects like asteroids and meteorites. The asteroid impact

The crop is produced by inserting a CP4 5 enolpyruvylshikimate 3 phosphate ( CP4 EPSPS) gene from Agrobacterium tumefaciens, a common soil bacteria. CP4 EPSPS facilitates the soybeans survivability by allowing the crop to become resistant to extreme temperatures, ensuring higher survival rates and successful harvests. Initially, Monsanto used electroporation to achieve maximum cell viability and transient gene expression, however, the high voltage required for the electroporation technique (400 V) caused instability in cell wall synthesis and cell division. Monsanto were then able to inject the CP4 EPSPS gene into the cell wall of soybeans by using particle bombardment to penetrate through the cell wall with minimal damage and produced stable progeny that expressed resistance to glyphosate.... It was published in The New Yorker in 1948, and few short stories in the history of American letters have met with such immediate acclaim. To a modern reader, it is easy to miss what to 40 s readers was the story s principal and disturbing undercurrent: post traumatic stress disorder. The late 40 s were in large part a period of reaction to World War II, as exhibited in the burgeoning school of film noir, the influx of apocalyptic B movies, and new waves in philosophy and literary theory. Bananafish , with its unsettling mixture of the mundane and the tragic, the light hearted and the cataclysmic, captured, in its straightforward, deceptively muted style and sensibility, the push and pull condition of returning WWII veterans (of which Salinger was one). The ending comes across as a complete shock, and Salinger refuses to linger on it. The very last phrase of the story is fired a bullet through his right temple leaving readers speechless and denying them authorial intervention to interpret the event. The result is that a reader must backtrack in memory through the story to construct a logical framework that can guide him or her from the comic bounciness of the beginning to the sudden bloodshed at the end. Salinger s decision to send such disparate tones careening into one another is a way of underlining the essential absurdity of war as it seeps into and refuses to leave

Parliamentary sovereignty is one of the fundamental values of the United Kingdom s constitutional law but European Union law, since the 1972 European Communities Act, trumps that sovereignty. This transpired due to the United Kingdombecoming a member of the European Union where EU law takes primacy over national law. By this Baroness Hale meant that even though Parliament has sovereignty, the courts will intervene if legislation over steps its boundaries and affects human rights, as depicted in the Human Rights Act 1998. The limitations to Parliamentary Sovereignty is not something new but instead has been witnessed throughout the formation of this modern society. It must detect the malicious activities going on in a network and deal with the enormous amount of network traffic. In this paper, things like accuracy and efficiency using CRFs and Layered Approach have been addressed. The CRFs reduce the number of false alarms thus improving the attack detection accuracy, while the overall system efficiency can be improved using Layered Approach. Thus, an obvious way it to sum them up for building a system that accurately detects attacks.Four attack layers are selected related to the attack groups(U2R, DoS, R2L, and Probe) and perform feature selection for each layer. Essay about The Psychology of Robert Frost’s Nature Poetry The Psychology of Robert Frost s Nature Poetry Robert Frost s nature poetry occupies a significant place in the poetic arts; however, it is likely Frost s use of nature is the most misunderstood aspect of his poetry. While nature is always present in Frost s writing, it is primarily used in a pastoral sense (Lynen 1). This makes sense as Frost did consider himself to be a shepherd. Frost uses nature as an image that he wants us to see or a metaphor that he wants us to relate to on a psychological level. To say that Frost is a nature poet is inaccurate. His poetry is in the main psychologically oriented with emphasis on specific recurring themes, which include, but are not limited to, loneliness, retreat, spirituality, darkness, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The contrast between the humans and nature enables Frost to deal with and illustrate significant issues affecting humans. A very interesting point regarding Frost s relationship with nature is that he views it with ambiguity. Most assume that Frost is a nature lover; however, while this is true in part, Frost also views nature as having the capability of being destructive. Lynen speaks of this duality by saying, You cannot have one without the other: love of natural beauty and horror at the remoteness and indifference of the physical world are not opposites but different aspects of the same view (7). On speaking of Frost s dualistic view of nature, Phillip L. Gerber states, For nature is hard as she is soft, she can destroy and thwart, disappoint, frustrate, and batter (132). Robert Frost views nature as an alien force capable of destroying man , but on the flip side, he also views man s struggle with nature as a heroic battle (quoted in Thompson). In his poem Our Hold on the Planet Frost illustrates this point by saying, There is much in nature against us. But we forget: Take nature altogether since time began Including human nature, in peace and war, And it must be a little more in favor of man, Say a fraction of one percent at the very least, Or our number living wouldn t be steadily more, Our hold on the planet wouldn t have so increased. Women have played a prominent role in defining cultures; such is the case for Maya, Inca, and Aztec societies. Maya culture relied heavily on the femalepopulation. Before, agrarian labor was seen as a maledomineering field; however, studies of the Classic Maya culture indicates farming was a communal occupation. All citizens, including children, participated in farming and other domestic tasks central to the communities upkeep. Roles in politics were also open to women, and contextual evidence indicate[s] that women played important roles .. [in] Maya, politics (Stockett). The sovereignty of the Classical Maya was embedded in the separation of noble houses. Each house governed by either a man or women, especially mothers , placing an independent value on the sexes.(Brumfiel). Textiles, which were almost exclusively made by women, became a leading factor in the economy the Maya relied on. One of the main priorities the female had was to turn resources into goods that the society could profit from. Without the contribution of women, the Maya would not have achieved the feats they did, shaping politics and religious festivals. Both home keeping and childcare were activities for women to carry out. Similar to the societal divide seen in the Maya, Incan genders were independently established. The rift
  • 27. A Brief Note On Pollution And Water Pollution The Mississippi River is the most polluted river in America, many chemicals such as phosphate and chlorine can be polluted in the water. Precipitation can cause runoff water and can sweep trash and chemicals into the rivers or any nearest water source. This project is concerned about if precipitation has an effect on pollution in the Spoon river. Anybody of water that is contaminated with pollutants, is called Water Pollution . There are two types of water pollution, Nonpoint and Point specific pollution. Nonpoint pollution cannot be found by a specific location and can be caused by runoff water, an example of this pollution is pesticides (Flinn Scientific, 2009). Chemicals and fertilizers can run off into the water supply(Mary Beth Abel Hughes, James Sammons, Scott Eddleman, Pamela J. W. Gore, Daniel P. Murray, Patsy Eldridge, 2007). Water moves over the ground and picks up chemicals and other waste into a body of water (Flinn Scientific, 2009). Pollution that can be pinpointed at a specific place and can be found and reduce the problem of pollution, an example of this pollution is factories, is known as Point Specific Pollution. (Flinn Scientific, 2009). Since Earth is becoming industrialized, water is being used and more waste is thrown into usable water (Flinn Scientific, 2009) About 70% of factories and industries dump waste into usable water(40factsaboutwaterpollution, 2013). Waste is produced by Industries and is dump it into the nearest water source (Mary Beth
  • 28. Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Theory Erik Erikson s psychosocial theory and Sigmund Freud s psychosexual theory are two well known theories of personality development with various similarities and differences. While Erikson was influenced by Freud s ideas, his theory differed in a number of important ways and was ultimately created to be an improvement to Freud s personality development theory (Friedman Schustack, 2012). Like Freud s psychosexual theory, Erikson agreed that personality progresses in a sequence of predetermined phases. However, unlike Freud s theory of psychosexual stages, Erikson s theory describes the impact of social experience across the whole lifespan (Hoare, 2005). According to Freud s psychosexual theory, personality develops across 5 sexual stages while Erikson s develops among 8 social stages. Freud s theory has fewer stages due to his belief that the last stage of identity develops during adolescence, while Erikson s theory had more stages because he believed an individual s identity continually evolved over their entire lifetime (Hoare, 2005). The 5 stages of Freud s theory: Oral, Anal, Phallic, Latency and Genital, will be discussed, compared and contrasted with Erikson s 8 stages: Trust vs. Mistrust, Autonomy vs. Doubt, Initiative vs. Guilt, Industry vs. Inferiority, Identity vs. Role Confusion, Intimacy vs. Isolation, Generativity vs. Stagnation, and Integrity vs. Despair (Passer, Smith, Atkinson, Mitchell Muir, 2011). Each stage in Erikson s theory involves a

How Oil Prices Affect the Price of Food How Oil Prices Affect the Price of Food By Post Carbon | Wed, 21 December 2011 18:07 The current global food system is highly fuel and transport dependent. Fuels will almost certainly become less affordable in the near and medium term, making the current, highly fuel dependent agricultural production system less secure and food less affordable. It is therefore necessary to promote food self sufficiency and reduce the need for fuel inputs to the food system at all levels. The connection between food and oil is systemic, and the prices of both food and fuel have risen and fallen more or less in tandem in recent years (figure 1). Modern agriculture uses oil products to fuel farm machinery, to transport other inputs to the farm, and to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The trends in the oil industry are clear and undisputed: exploration and production are becoming more costly, and are giving rise to greater environmental risks, while competition for access to new prospective regions is generating increasing geopolitical tensions. According to the International Energy Agency, the rate of world crude oil production reached its peak in 2006.[IEA 2010a) The IMF has joined a chorus of energy industry analysts in concluding that scarcity and high prices are here to stay.[IMF 2011a, 2011b] A collapse in demand for oil resulting from sharply declining global economic activity could cause oil prices to fall, as happened in late 2008. Indeed, this is a fairly likely possibility. But while it would make oil cheaper, it would not make fuel more affordable to most people. It is theoretically possible for the world to curb oil demand through policies that limit consumption, and it is also conceivable that some unexpected technological breakthrough could rapidly result in a cheap, effective alternative to petroleum. However, these latter two developments are rather improbable. Thus there is no likely scenario in which the services provided by oil will become more affordable within the context of a stable global economy at any time in the foreseeable future. While wealthy consumers are able to absorb incremental increases in food prices, a sudden interruption in the availability of fuel (due to geopolitical

In the Court s highly fragmented decision, the justices attempted to define a proper balance of and boundary between federal and state authority: by arguing that state action constituted only those acts sanctioned by the state s laws and by dismissing Section 20 for vagueness, the major block of dissenters suggested that the risk posed to state autonomy by federal intervention was too great; by recognizing the defendants actions as those perpetrated under color of law and by creating a willful test for acts under Section 20, the majority Opinion affirmed the federal government s interest in protecting the rights of citizens from abuse by state authority, but provided it with a tenuous means for defending those liberties. • 31. I Felt Like Making A Deep Breath Of Fresh Air It is my impression that a poem is complicated, obscure, and must have deep meaning. However, after reading William Carlos Williams poems, I felt like making a deep breath of fresh air. It was the first time I felt that poems could be simple like this. In his poems, everything is expressed in simple words. Even a reader as me, an international student, could understand his words easily. Also, the images he described are the common but neglected scenes. Nonetheless, when I closed the book, some of the images overlapped with my memory. It seemed like something happened before in my experience but I ignored. The fragments now look so beautiful. I especially like his poems To a Poor Old Woman, Poem, and Her Daughter. These three poems help me to find the beauty around me, help me to change a direction to see the world, help me to appreciate. In the poem To a Poor Old Woman, Williams described an old woman eating plums on the street. Munching a plum on the street a paper bag of them in her hand. I was laughing when I read this. Eagerly eating something on the street, I believe it happened in many people s life. For example, I have a nice memory of eating a hot roast sweet potato on the street in a cold winter afternoon. However, some people think eating on the street is impolite and unsightly. In New York, eating on the street even is illegal in some residential neighborhoods. For an poor old woman in the poem, she might had no free time or a spacious dining room to enjoy her

On their pilgrimage, each of the characters tells a different story in a contest to win a free dinner when they get to Canterbury. Many of the tales have similar morals, but the tellers are very different, such as the tales of the Friar and the Pardoner. Though both of these tales have a similar plot and can be interpreted in a similar way, their tellers are significantly different. Although the Friar and the Pardoner are very different people, they both have a similarly structured story, using a symbolic demons as the antagonist, and with very similar plotlines. In the Pardoner s Tale, three unintelligent men want to find and murder someone named Death who is killing many people. The three men stumble upon a pot of gold, which happens to be Death s pot of gold. They all split the money in the pot and become rich. While one of the three leaves to buy wine to celebrate their fortune, the two guarding the gold become greedy and plot to kill the other so they can keep his gold.
