Student Leadership Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of student leadership presents its own set of challenges. Firstly, it
requires a comprehensive understanding of the concept of leadership and how it specifically
applies to students. This involves delving into various leadership styles, traits, and the unique
challenges that student leaders may encounter.
Crafting a compelling essay also demands the ability to articulate personal experiences, if
applicable, or to create hypothetical scenarios that exemplify effective student leadership.
Additionally, one must explore the importance of leadership in an academic setting, discussing
how it contributes to the overall development of both individuals and the student body as a
whole.
Research becomes a critical component of this essay, requiring in-depth exploration of successful
student leaders, relevant theories, and perhaps even case studies. This not only adds depth to the
essay but also ensures that the content is grounded in factual information.
Balancing the theoretical aspects with practical examples and personal reflections while
maintaining a coherent and engaging narrative can be challenging. Furthermore, the essay should
not only address the positive aspects of student leadership but also acknowledge and discuss
potential obstacles and criticisms.
The challenge lies not only in generating ideas and content but also in structuring the essay
effectively. Creating a clear introduction, body, and conclusion that seamlessly flow from one
point to the next is crucial for delivering a compelling argument.
In summary, writing a student leadership essay is a multifaceted task that demands a blend of
research, personal insight, and effective communication. It requires a writer to navigate through
various aspects of leadership, presenting a well-rounded perspective that engages the reader
while staying true to the topic.
For those who find the task daunting, it's worth noting that help is available. Services like

The Rising Gerontological Population Across The World
Essay
The soaring gerontological population across the world demands attention from
health care professionals to optimize health and quality of life. Over the years,
various screening tools have been developed to screen for multifactorial facets of
health. These tools will aid an older adult to augment healthconcerns. To view
perspectives through the lens of an older adult, health care professionals must delve
into a personal level in the world of old age. The purpose of this paper is to provide
information based upon an interview with a senior over the age of 70, determine
strengths and weaknesses, outline personal needs and family needs, analyze and
provide interpretations of an assortment of assessments, deliver nursing diagnoses,
problems, and interventions, and validate interventions. A nurse must provide
specialized care with the gerontological client.
Client s Strengths and Weaknesses Gathering information from a client is vital during
the interview process. In this, strengths and weaknesses can be determined to assist
an older person to augment his or her health. Due to psychological factors influencing
health and functional status of an older person, it is essential to evaluate and share
positive communication (Tabloski ,2014). In turn, an older person can develop
optimistic views in not only maintaining health, but also enhancing his or her health
as well. This renewed interest in health can provide an encouraging boost for an older
person.

George S Patton Achievements
During the second world war, after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the United States
involved themselves in the escalating battle. The war would take many years, as
well as resources and soldiers. Most importantly however, the U.S needed an
excellent general to lead the troops. This is where General George S. Patton comes
in and stands center stage, ready to win a war and go down in American history as
one of the greatest generals. Patton was born on the eleventh of November, 1885, in
San Gabriel, Florida. As a child, he was regaled with tales of his forefathers, men
who had fought in the Revolutionary, Mexican, and Civil wars. These stories inspired
him to join the military and carry on their legacy; he attended the Virginia Military

Patton loved war, whether he was strategizing or fighting in the thick of it. He was
a man of fickle taste, with rash mood swings and an anti semitic streak. Patton was
abrasive to others, caring mostly for war and not much else, yet he was married to
Beatrice Banning Ayer.. Although he had many personality flaws, George S.
Patton was still an astounding general with a gift for battle, helping lead the
United States to victory during World War Two. By the end of his life, he was a
four star general. The President of the time, Dwight Eisenhower, said he was the
best field rank general we ever had. Unfortunately, even though he had amazing
success on the field and returned a hero, he died very shortly after he returned, on
December 9th, 1945 as a result from an automobile collision. Though he was
worshipped as being a superhuman man and general, he was still mortal and died
from a simple cause like any other ordinary

The military was heavily involved in the first world war (1914 1918) with casualties
of around 66000 troops. During the Second World War, Canada suffered in excess of
45000 casualties. After the conclusion of Second World War, the number of members
of the armed forces has reduced considerably. During the war, the economic hardship
was felt throughout Canada as primary resources were redirected to the wars that
were going on. Infrastructure in Canada is under the federal government department,
which ensures that all the primary support transport and communication are well
maintained. There are numerous airports, and airstrips. All the major cities contain
international airports such as the Vancouver International Airport. There are major
roads that run through the country such as the trans Canada highway and Ontario
highway 401. There is a well developed railway system that is widely used to ferry
freight. There is a total of 50000 km of rail throughout Canada. The communication
infrastructure is well developed, comprising more than 700 internet providers, the
cellular network covers all the key cities, and the proliferation of internet is high
along the population. The warmer provinces practice agriculture such as in Alberta

The First Generation Of The Family
Mike had given a speech to Bodnar about the hardships that the men went through
in the mills. He wondered if God had put him on his earth was to be worked in the
furnaces. Once I used to ask myself, Is this what the good God put me on earth for, to
work my life away in Carnegie s blast furnaces, to live and die in Braddock s alleys? I
couldn t believe it. Now I know that God had nothing to do with it. Chance rules the
world (Bell, 197). Mike felt everyone should lovethe job they work in and shouldn t
feel as if they re not appreciated. I don t mind work. But a man should be allowed to
love his work and take pride in it (Bell, 196).
The third generation of the family seemed to be the strongest willed. Mike and Mary
s son, Dobie, did everything George wouldn t do and was against not standing up to
anyone. He created the birth of labor unionism during his time working at the steel
mills. It was against the law to join this labor unionism act. Many of the mills were
go into protests about how they were getting treating working at the mills and they
weren t afraid to speak their mind. This interest Dobie that something needed to be
done and he started to met with lawyers and investigators. Eventually he was able to
get the steel corporation to sign a contract to end the hardships with the steel mills.
The steel corporation signed a contract with the S.W.O.C. and the most important job
ever undertaken by organized labor in America ended with victory for the union (Bell,
Eve Adam And Eve
Eve Adam
Adam and Eve is a well know story in the book of Genesis. There are many
versions of this religious story, and many interpretation that go along with it.
Focusing on the Hebrew versions of Genesis 1 and 2, comparing the two similar
creation stories of Eve Adam, and look into how the Early Christianity New
Testament affected the way woman were seen as well as treated. In the book Eve
Adam by Kvam Schearing and Ziegler, it focuses on Genesis 1; the stories of
Creation.
On the sixth day Elohim (God) creates humankind in his image. The first man and
woman are created simultaneously and jointly receive Elohim s command to be
fruitful, to multiply, and to subdue and have dominion over the earth. Their creation,
Elohim remarks, is very good. On the seventh day, Elohim rests. (Eve 16)
When interpreting this paragraph a few things come to mind. One, Elohim is
considered perfect because he is God. So humankind being created in his perfect
image creates the idea that humans are perfect like Elohim. As one looks further into
the passage it specifically says that man and woman were created together. Meaning
that man and woman were equally created. Then after man and women were created
simultaneously, Elohim wanted the man and women to multiply and be fruitful.
Meaning that the man and woman had an equal gender roles with creating life through
out the Earth that Elohim had created for them. As one continues on reading The
Book of Genesis, another creation

Comparison Of The Lamb And The Tyger
Writers and authors for centuries have used different strategies to compare living
things with one another, as well as non living things with one another. During the
Romantics era, it was a time during economic destruction. People had little hope and
writers and poets began to express their emotions as well as critiques on this time
period. William Blakewas a poet as well as a painter, who wrote works that addressed
the social issues around the area in which he lived. The country dealt with several
deaths, which caused the nation to go under depression. Furthermore, the essay,

Pace Academy, enlightens, The child at the mother s breast is an archetype of
innocence, vulnerability, and spontaneous affection. Even though Carson addresses
the baby as innocent and finds the child to be a archetype relating to his mother,
the infant also can be seen as suffering. In a way, this poem is laughing at the idea
of Songs of Innocence. Blake, or the speaker, is harsh about the experience of being
a child and refuses to be handled by his parents. Blake further states that the parents
of the child treated him poorly throughout his childhood. The parents did not want
the kid and was upset that they had a child. The father cried, the mother groaned, and
the child was fussy. The poem is not very uplifting or positive, which means it fits
perfectly with Blake s collection, Songs of
The Importance Of Blood Flow In The Circulatory System
The circulatory system is an important organ system that circulates blood throughout
the body in an effort to transport nutrients and maintain homeostasis. In mammals, the
heart is a vital part of the circulatory system that pumps blood through blood vessels
around the body. Blood circulation through the heartbegins with deoxygenated blood
entering the right atrium at low pressure from the body. The deoxygenated blood
is then pumped to the right ventricle through the atrioventricular valve. From there,
the blood is pumped out of the right ventricle at high pressure to the lungs through
the semilunar valve. In the lungs, gas exchange occurs where carbon dioxide is
released to the alveoli and oxygen is absorbed by the blood. The oxygenated blood
then leaves the lungs, enters the left atrium at low pressure, and is pumped to the
left ventricle where it is pumped back out to the rest of the body at high pressure.
Blood flow in the circulatory system is very important and is assessed by
examining blood pressure. Blood pressure is the force of the blood pushing
against the walls of the arteries every time the heart pumps blood. There are two
types of blood pressure: systolic and diastolic. As the heart beats, blood forced
through the arteries cause a rise in pressure, called systolic pressure (Department of
Integrative Biology, 2017). Following this rise in pressure, a decrease in pressure as
the ventricles relax and prepare for another beat is called the diastolic pressure

Sales of Buell motorcycles (which are distributed through select Harley Davidson
dealers) increased to $14 million in 1995 as compared to $6 million in 1994. The
Company began 1995 at a scheduled motorcycle production rate of 395 units per day.
As the implementation of the manufacturing strategy continued, the rate increased to
470 units per day by the end of the year. The Company exceeded its production goal
of 100,000 units in 1995 and anticipates 1996 production will reach at least 115,000
units.
The Company is currently reviewing alternative sites for the construction of a new
manufacturing facility to enable it to achieve its long term goal of doubling
motorcycle production by 2003. Year end data indicates that the domestic (United
States) motorcycle market continued to grow throughout 1995.
Compared to 1994, industry registrations of domestic heavyweight (engine
displacements in excess of 751cc) motorcycles were up 11.3% . The Company
ended 1995 with a domestic market share of 55.8% compared to 56.1% in 1994.
This decrease is a reflection of the Company s constrained production capacity in a
growing heavyweight motorcycle market. Demand for the Company s motorcycles
continues to exceed supply with nearly all of the Company s independent domestic
dealers reporting retail orders on all of their remaining 1996 model year motorcycle
allocations (production through June, 1996). Export revenues totaled $394.8 million

A Note On B2b Sales Cycle
If you re not using or have given up on landing pages, then you re missing out on a
truly integral component of the sometimes complex B2B sales cycle.
Whether used as part of a lead or sales funnel... integrated into an email, PPC, or
direct mail campaign... a well crafted landing page can really boost your conversion
rates.
Now there are potentially hundreds of specific steps you can take in order to get the
most out of them. And there are, of course, various ways to test each page element.
Am I recommending that you ignore all the testing and tweaking? Of course not.
But if you want to get the most bang for your buck, you can t afford to ignore the
basics.
So without further ado, here are five steps to creating landing pages that convert.
1. Determine the goal.
The lack of a clearly defined goal is probably the single biggest stumbling block for
most people. If your pages contain six different ideas, all competing for attention,
then you re in for a disastrous conversion experience.
For example, if you ve recently published three white papers, it would be a huge
mistake to design one landing page for all of them. Studies consistently show that
vague or competing themes are a huge factor in the overall success or failure of a
landing page. So instead of cramming multiple ideas onto one page, be sure to
create a separate one for each. If you follow this one step alone, you ll likely see at
least a double digit improvement in your conversion rate.
2. Keep
The Effect Of Breastfeeding On The Immune System
Against...
Researchers from Harvard University analyzed data from over 1,300 babies who
breastfed for at least six months, and then they tested the children s vocabulary at
age three and their intelligence at age 7. The beneficial effects were cumulative;
the children s verbal test scores at age 3 were one fifth of a point higher for each
month they were breastfed; at age 7 the difference in intelligence was one third of an
IQ point per month of breastfeeding. This doesn t sound like much, however, a child
breastfed for a full year could gain a full four IQ points, according to the study. The
American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the World Health Organization (WHO)
make the recommendation that new moms breastfeed exclusively for the first six
months of life and continue to breastfeed for two years and beyond. However, they
both recommend breastfeeding for a variety of other reasons besides intelligence,
including the fact that breastfeeding boosts the immune system against viral and
bacterial infection, and also lowers the risk of the baby dying from sudden infant
death syndrome. Breastfeeding during the first year also lowers the risk of obesity in
childhood and adolescence (WHO, 2012). To understand just how frequently the
association of breastfeeding and cognitive performance has been studied, a 1999 meta
analysis that examined 11 previous studies and concludes that breastfeeding was
associated with significantly higher scores for cognitive development than formula
feeding.

The author uses ethos by comparing herself to white pipes. She makes herself
more qualified by using her girlfriend as another way that she acts white by saying.
When I finally found a place to live, my roommate stirred up old memories when
she remarked a few months later, you know, I was surprised when I first saw you.
You sounded white over the phone. The author demonstrates respect for her friend,
simply in her own personal point of view of how she speaks white. Out of respect
that her friend is bringing up a question, everyone is asking. Pathos comes into
play again when Jones says, noting that, I should ve asked her a question I ve

her, but outta respects keep it to herself. Jones uses a perfect example of how
scared she has been and mentions that Actually, I ve pretty much deduced what
people mean when they say that to me, and the implications are really frightening.

Obedience In The My Lai Massacre
The Implications of Obedience Within the United States Military: The My Lai
Massacre On March 16, 1968, a unit of the United States military was ordered to
advance into a village called Son My in northern Vietnam. It was there that a mass
execution of unarmed civilians took place. One may wonder how the United States
could do something so seemingly inhumane after considering what the Nazis did only
twenty years prior to the Vietnam War. However, in the context of a tense situation,
there are particular factors that will affect one s decision making skills. Factors such
as uncertainty, routinization, gradual escalation, and dehumanization of the victim
are all possible components in affecting one s obedience.
When uncertainty is present in a given situation, obedience tends to be greater.
Being in an unfamiliar position may prompt one to have a lower self confidence.
Consequently, this self perceived inferiority may cause the subject to look to
authority for assistance (Nelson, class lecture, 2017). This was clearly evident at
My Lai, as many of the soldiers were young and inexperienced, merely trained to
follow orders given to them by authority. According to Kelman Hamilton (1989) in
their article The My Lai Massacre: A Military Crime of Obedience, Charlie Company
contained no significant deviation from the average company. That is, most of the
men had volunteered for the draft and had not yet even finished college. Most were
eighteen to twenty two years old, still

not just filled with horror as some may believe. Rick, one of the main characters,

Nigeria s population is about 173.6 million people, this is on a survey carried out
by the World Bank (World Bank data bank 2013). The average population density
according to (UNDP, 2012 Revision) is approximately 173 persons per square
kilometre, making Nigeria one of the most densely populated countries in the world.
Though Lagos the former capital is the smallest state in Nigeria in terms of land mass
with an area of 356,861 hectares but currently, it possesses the highest population
which is over 17.5million as at 2006 census, (this is from parallel count conducted
by the state during the national population census). With a projected growth rate of
about 3.2%, the population of Lagos could be said to be over 21 million. (Population

Further analysis shows that Metropolitan Lagos, has an area covering of about 37%
of the land area of the present Lagos State which accommodates over 85% of the

Cloning In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Cloning can have positive and negative impacts, but there is no way of knowing
how it will turn out since it has not been studied enough. Cloning has been
performed on various species of animals, and so far there have been far more
deaths than successful clonings. It may seem like a good idea to many but people
need to understand that it does not only take one time to clone an individual. There
are trial and error to make every clone. Cloningcould be ethical to our society but as
seen in Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, the outcome could drastically be different from
expected, and the result can backfire in many ways.
Cloning could eventually take the place of other s jobs, therefore, people losing their
jobs. Cloning might seem like a good idea to put them to work, but in time it would
make it harder for the normal workers because it would create competition. Another
thing that may seem ridiculous to many is the price of cloning a human. In Mary
Shelley s Frankenstein, Victor failed to consider his creature s autonomy,
vulnerability, and welfare (Harrison, Garron). Even if somebody thinks it is a good
idea, it would only cause hardship on our economy. Therefore, clones should not be
made because they would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cloning of a human could pose several health risks, disfigurements, diseases,
and etc. Leading scientific investigators have displayed convincingly that
reproductive cloning is an efficient and error prone process that would result in the
failure of most efforts at human cloning during the development of the embryo
(Cohen 190). Even if human cloning does reach the perfect state. It should not be
allowed because that is basically playing God. Of Wilmut s nearly 300 attempts to
clone a sheep, only 29 reached embryo status and were implanted into ewes; of those
29, Dolly was the only successful pregnancy (Harris
The Time Of The Butterflies By Julia Alvarez
Julia Alvarez is a Dominican Republican novelist, poet and essayist. She spent the
first ten years of her childhood in the Dominican Republic until her family had to
flee the country due to her father s involvement in a political rebellion. Many of
Alvarez s works are influenced by her experiences as a Dominican in the United
States and much of her writing takes a political and personal tone. She is known for
works that explore cultural expectations of women in both the Dominican Republic
and the United States and for meticulous investigations of cultural stereotypes. In the
Time of the Butterflies is a historical novel by Julia Alvarez. It follows the lives of
the four Mirabal sistersin the Dominican Republic during the time of the Trujillo
dictatorship. These four sisters: DedГ©, Patria, Minerva, Maria Teresa, were Las
Mariposas, The Butterflies and were symbols of defiant hope in a country
shadowed by dictatorship and despair. They sacrificed their safe, cozy lives in the
name of freedom and in this novel, they speak across the centuries to tell their own
stories. Las Mariposas describe the everyday horrors of life under the Dominican
dictator Trujillo, from tales of secret crushes to gunrunning and prison torture. Julia
Alvarez states that, A novel is not, after all, a historical document, but a way to travel
through the human heart (Alvarez 324). In the Time of the Butterflies is a perfect
example of this statement because it tells the story of true events in

Introduction
Given the current concern for our planet, worry over climate change
Formation of Glaciers
To begin formation of a glacier, snow falls. This snow transforms into firn, which
eventually changes into ice. The official definition of snow is atmospheric water
vapour that has frozen to form small crystals of ice before it falls to the ground and
settles. The intermediary stage before it ...

Flow of Ice Masses
There are many categories of glacier that depend on their properties, for example
relative size, location and flow speed. A glacier can be on land or floating. Thick,
floating glaciers are referred to as ice shelves. Ice streams are channels in which ice
flows much faster than the ice surrounding it.
Reaction of Glaciers to Environmental Change
Glacial flow is the primary cause of differentiation between glaciers in their growth
and retreat. Broadly, glacial change happens simultaneously with similar rates of
development. Occasionally, random fluctuations seem to occur, as can be found in
rock records from the Pleistocene epoch, where continental ice sheets were subject
apparent random growth and retreat, (Cuffey Paterson, 2010). The most direct
influence on the progress of a glacier is climate. A change in climate has the obvious
direct effect of melting ice or depositing more snow, these processes are called the
mass balance. A
Ontological Argument Is Anselm Is False
I Thesis
The Ontological Argument presented by Anselm is false because of premise two.
Anselm argues that God s existence is provable in a priori, this means that one
knows God exists simply by reason alone and therefore does not need any prior
experience to know it is true. In the next section, I will explain the premises and
defend Anselm s point. In the third section, I will explain how premise two is wrong.
II The Ontological Argument
In this section, I will explain the argument. If one accepts all of the premises of the
argument to be true then we must accept its conclusion. The first premise of the
argument states that God exists in the understanding (Rowe, 37). This is a true idea
because somethings only exist in one s understanding. ... Show more content on

One has been using Leibniz s test to establish the truth of the second premise.
However, it seems to fail when the concept includes that a thing exist in its
definition (Lecture 7/6). That is how the concept of God is in Anselm s argument.
The test is applied to possible and impossible things. One thinks of something as
possible if it is coherent and not self contradictory. The following is an example of
how the test can fail. Imagine a unicorn, a thing has horse like qualities and a horn
and a unichorn , a thing that has horse like qualities, a horn and existence (Lecture 7
/6). One thing has existence in its definition while the other does not. There is
nothing incoherent or self contradictory about those concepts. According to Leibniz s
test it would seem as though they would both pass the test making them both possible
things. However, there are two subcategories of possible things. The first category
includes possible things that exist while the second category consists of possible
things that do not exist but
The Unbearable Lightness of Being
The Unbearable Lightness of Being It is Better to Carry a Heavy Load
Is it better to carry a heavy load on your shoulders, or cope with the unbearable
lightness of being?
Phillip Kaufman coupled brilliant film techniques with wonderful acting to put
together the film The Unbearable Lightness of Being based off of Milan Kundera s
novel of the same title. The film is set in Prague during the spring of 1968. At this
time the Russians are still trying to exercise their communist control over
Czechoslovakia, and Prague is a city filled with political uprisings and violent
outbursts from the Czech people. Within the movie and the plot, Kaufman and
Kundera want to help us answer the question, is it better to carry a heavy load on ...

After this first escapade we see Tomas go to Sabina. In her room filled with mirrors
and abstract art. Multiple scenes take place in Sabina s isolated bedroom. In fact
hardly ever, do we see Sabina and Tomas together outside of Sabina s apartment. Their
love is contained with the walls of her apartment. Kundera and Kauffman use this to
illustrate how Sabina wants to protect their relationship from the outside world and
reality.
From the beginning Kaufman and Kundera illustrate for us that there is a mutual
understanding between Tomas and Sabina. She recognizes and accepts his playful
and wandering heart. It is obvious through her emotional and physical confidence
that she knows Tomas sleeps with other women, but she does not care. This
confidence is presented to us in the love scenes between Sabina and Tomas. With
her erotic hat, kinky mirrors, and playful love making, back grounded by the up beat
music, we are lead to believe that Sabina is as laid back about her love life as Tomas
is.
Sabina s care free attitude and confidence is reinforced throughout the movie. Sabina
is the first person that Tomas tells about Tereza. From what Tomas tells her it is
obvious that any relationship with Tereza is going to be more serious than their own
relationship. Each time during the course of the film that Tomas is having problems
with Tereza he goes to Sabina. When they are in Geneva and Tereza leaves to return
to Prague, Tomas first turns to Sabina. At the
How Did The Light Bulb Have Revolutionized The World
Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always
to try just one more time . This was a quote said by Thomas Edison who was a great
inventor and inspired many. The light bulb was one of his many inventions that have
revolutionized the world, because it has changed many lifestyles.
The light bulb was invented in 1879 by Thomas Edison. The light bulb was
incandescent which had a filament and metal wires. The light bulb is powered by the
filament which sends the electrical current to the bulb. The light bulb converts
electricity into heat which makes the filament get very hot so it glows, thus
producing light. These light bulbs were very inefficient because only 3% of the

My Career At Loyola University Chicago
After a long eight months, I can now look back and say that I completed my first
year of college. It is safe to say that during that time, life was not the same as it was
in high school. Many adjustments, such as sacrifices and prioritizing had to be
made. However, I think that those adjustments had made me a more accountable
student, but more ultimately a better rounded human being. As I am about to enter
my second year at Loyola, I am ready to tackle whatever challenges I may face. I
personally feel that I am still a planet s distance away from figuring out who I
really am, but I think that as long as I can keep being the best person I can be, I can
accomplish what I want to do during my post collegiate career. In this essay, I will
talk about my undergraduate career at Loyola University Chicago, emphasizing my
field of study, college experience, and my career goals including the route I plan to
take to get there. My current major at Loyola Chicago is Health Systems
Management otherwise known as H.S.M. which as it implies, revolves around the
health care industry. I was originally an Economics major with the Liberal Arts and
Sciences school. At the time, I thought that Economics was the major for me
because I really enjoyed the topic when I was in high school, and I was also into
business. I did well in both semesters; however, I was also interested in learning
about the health care business. I did not know that Loyola had a major focusing on
health care until I talked
FGCU Analysis
Guiding Principles The principles that guide a university are extremely crucial in
regards to what students and faculty can expect from the university they attend or are
employed by, as well as how the university can outline its goals and attitudes towards
those goals. For that reason, it is essential for a universityand its directors to invest
heavily in the guiding principles that they stand for. Everything the university does
should strive to live up to such principles, and failure to do so is a failure to all the
stakeholders within the university. The Florida Gulf Coast University, or FGCU, has
established several guiding principles that are behind every action and direction that
the university takes. One principle in particular is... Show more content on

In particular, it is failing to promote and provide distance and time free learning.
Although FGCU offers a wealth of online courses for students to take from the
comfort of their own home, or anywhere they choose really, the quality of such
courses are not up to par with the education gained in the classroom. According to
Douglas Rushkoff, Online learning needs to cater to human users. A real instructor
should not simply dump data on a person, as in a scripted video, but engage with
students, consider their responses and offer individualized challenges (3).
Unfortunately, the state of online courses at FGCU falls under this criteria of simply
dumping information on students, and online courses offer very little in the way of
individualized challenges. While the quality of education in an FGCU classroom is
unprecedented, the quality of education in an FGCU online classroom leaves much
to be desired. Instead of a virtual classroom environment, an online FCGU course
simply puts students through rigid, non streamlined hoops that do little to insight
creativity or academic advancement. And for this reason, FGCU is falling short of its
information technology guiding
Landfill Gas Generation And Collection From Waste
2.2LANDFILL GAS GENERATION AND COLLECTION FROM WASTE
Landfills are designed structures built into or on top of the ground to ensure refuse
isolation. The design and operations act to ensure that there are minimal effects to
public and environmental health. MSW landfills have 6 components: 1] Bottom liner
systems, 2] Refuse wells 3] Storm water drainage system, 4] Leachate collection
systems, 5] methane collection systems, and 6] a covering cap. These components
promote methane capture [Sawyer, 2007].
1.Bottom Liner systems are usually constructed from puncture resistant, plastic
HDPE or PVC. These are used to prevent the movement of leachate and LFG [Kim,
2003].
2.Wells are the most common methods of LFG extraction. Vertical Well... Show more

Drainage pipes and storm water liners collect water from different areas in the
landfill and channel it to collection ponds before it is pumped off site [Freudenrich,
2005].
4.Leachate Collection systems optimize landfill systems and are designed as fail
safes for the storm water drainage systems. Whenever water permeates through the
landfill wells, it reacts with organic and inorganic contaminants and then becomes
leachate. It is treated as sewage or wastewater before it is released [Freudenrich,
2005].
5.Methane recovery systems are used to pump methane and carbon dioxide which is
then collected and then transported to processing stations [Guo Song, 1996].
6.Landfill covers or caps are used to control moisture infiltration, mitigate the release
of LFG, prevent and pests from rummaging through the refuse. It also allows the site
to be re used in the future [Kim, 2003]. Figure 3: Typical Landfill Gas Recovery and

the amount of LFG generated. The more waste you have in the well, the more LFG

II.Waste Composition: Waste can be defined according to the relative
biodegradability:
a)Readily biodegradable (such as food waste)
b)Moderately biodegradable (Paper waste and green waste)
c)Slowly biodegradable (Paper waste
The Lamb and The Tyger by William Blake Essay
William Blake, a unique poet of the literary canon, is one of the most critiqued
poets of all time. Having a rather unique stylistic approach to topics, especially
religion, Blake seems to contradict himself in his own writing and, therefore, sparks
questions in the readers minds on specific subjects. Two of his poems in particular
have been widely critiqued and viewed in various lights. The Tyger, written in 1774,
and The Lamb, written five years later in 1789, are considered companion poems due
to their similar humanistic topic and stark differences of each other. Through the use
of specific titillation and use of rhetorical questioning, Blake sets up an ultimatum
between the two poems, creating the illusion that each creature in... Show more

The Tyger, however, is part of the Songs of Experience collection, which revolves
more around a ruthless, ferocious (Northrop 380) world of experience that an
adult would live in (Northrop 380). Whereas the Songs of Innocence are relatively
light and optimistic poems (Milton), the Songs of Experience are much darker in
tone and exposing the world as seen in the Songs of Innocence. Postulated to be
unique in the fact that these two collections were the most intricate of all of his
works, Blake s artistic vision is clearly shown in The Songs of Innocence and of
Experience (Curran 256). Being from this volume of Blake s most complex works,
The Lamb and The Tyger are commonly thought of as companion poems because of
the similarity and opposition found in the two. Each of these poems, read in light
of each other, seem to revolve around the topic of religion, as many others found in
this particular novel do. Leading to one of the central themes of the piece, it could
be considered that Blake s overlaying message in the pieces were about religion.
However, despite him being a Christian, albeit unconventional in his practice
(Evans), the overlaying theme of most, if not all poems in the volume revolve
around some aspect of humanity s spectrum. Thus, despite the use of theological
logic in part of each poem, the idea of religion is explored with a more rationalistic

H2A Case Study
Also, a recent study of an H2A.Z/H2A nucleosome structure shows that the H2A.Z
L1 loop domain was drastically altered without any structural changes of the H2A L1
loop, thus avoiding steric clash. So, the heterotypic H2A.Z/H2A nucleosome is more
stable than the homotypic H2A.Z nucleosome (H2A.Z/H2A.Z) (Horikoshi, Arimura
et al. 2016). Consequently, the presence of H2A versus H2A.Z in the histone
octamer affects the stability of the nucleosome (Coleman Derr Zilberman, 2012b; Jin
Felsenfeld, 2007; Jin et al., 2009; Kumar Wigge, 2010).
Since its identification, H2A.Z has been extensively studied in yeast, animals and

8A) (Coleman Derr Zilberman, 2012a; Sura et al., 2017; Zilberman et al., 2008). At
highly expressed protein coding genes, H2A.Z is intensely enriched around the
nucleosome depleted region (NDR) at transcriptional start sites (TSSs),
particularly at the +1 nucleosome (i.e. the first nucleosome downstream of the
TSS) (Coleman Derr Zilberman, 2012a; Sura et al., 2017; Zhang et al., 2016;
Zilberman et al., 2008) (Figure 8B). The +1 nucleosome can act as a barrier to
transcriptional elongation by blocking and stalling RNA Polymerase II (Nock et al.,
2012; Weber et al., 2014). H2A.Z incorporation moderates the nucleosomal barriers
to RNA Polymerase II progression, likely by facilitating the loss
31
of an H2A.Z/H2B dimer from nucleosomes when encountered by RNA Polymerase
II (Weber et al., 2014). Therefore, accumulation of H2A.Z around TSSs promotes
transcriptional initiation. In Arabidopsis, H2A.Z is required for activation of
Flowering Locus C (FLC), in that way ensuring the proper timing of the transition
from vegetative growth to flowering (Deal et al., 2007). It is shown that the TSS of
FLC locus is enriched with H2A.Z and its expression is strongly up regulated by
FRIGIDA (FRI). FRI acts as a scaffold protein in a transcription activator complex
that binds to the FLC locus and directly associates with the SWR1 complex,
suggesting that FLC up regulation is mediated by direct modulation of H2A.Z
deposition by FRI (Choi et al., 2011).
Reflection On Leadership And Governance
Using my personal knowledge and experience, the following reflection will state why
the ten values highlighted above are important in leadership and governance. After
each explanation there will be an example to support the reasoning. The reflection
will use the government as a leader to reflect on leadershipand governance.
Specifically, the governmentwill refer to any ministryat the provincial level and it is
not specific to one leader, to a group of leaders (members of provincial parliament,
ministry, public servants etc.) or to a particular organization (ministry, unit,
department etc.).
The first two values for good leadership and governance are achievement/success
and effectiveness. The government needs to make decisions which effectively
reach its goals and visions. If the government is unable to achieve any achievements
or success, it suggests that leadership is poor. The ineffective leadership may
suggest that current governance practices are inappropriate. For example, in 2006,
the Ministry of Education in Ontario stated that their goal was to have 75% of
Grade 6 students achieve the provincial standard (70%) in reading, writing and math.
According to the results, in 2015 2016, writing was at 80%, reading was at 81%, and
math was at 50%. The results suggest that the leadership and governance of the
initiative was successful in reading and writing, but the lack of success in math
suggests that the approach to addressing the lack of math knowledge

What is more, teen couples bite each other regularly to show affection, sometimes
so hard they draw blood and what is even more bizarre: some of them cut their skin

diseases. Fifteen percent of bites from humans can become infected; moreover,
biting can spread sometimes blood borne diseases like HIV, hepatitis or syphilis.
Let s see an example from the first part of Twilight Saga, because it has been
already mentioned. In the first part of the series, Bella says, About three things I
was absolutely positive. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of
him and I didn t know how potent that part might be that thirsted for my blood.
And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him. (Meyer,195) It

is enough if the man is handsome, it doesn t matter if he is life threatening. In the
end, just like in fairy tales, everything is going to be alright and they will live

one of the most famous quotes from New Moon, the film interpretation of the second
part is Death is peaceful....easy....life is harder... . An impressionable young mind may
easily define this that it s easier to commit suicide than to manage with the troubles.

The Importance Of A Shatter Zone In The Film Winter s
Bone
A shatter zone used to be defined as a belt of randomly fissured or cracked rock
that may be filled with mineral deposits (Moon,pg 1). After World War two the
meaning changed dramatically. According to Moon and Talley, a shatter zone is now
is borderlands where refugee populations migrated in large numbers to escape the
pressures of the stateand/or the capitalist economies through which the state exerted
itself (Moon, Pg 1). For the Most part, James Scott agrees with Moon and Talley
when he defines a shatter zone as places of resistance to and refuge from some of
the most destructive effects of state making and state rule (Scott,pg 22). This zones
are found wherever a large number of people have gone to seek refuge in out of the
way places ( Scott,pg 23). A shatter Zone is depicted throughout the Film Winters
Bone .
The film, Winter s Bone, open with a shot of Ree Dolly s house. It shows that they
are not very well off, and that the mom is sick and will alway be sick. Ree has
assumed her mom s role in taking care of her young siblings. The film then shows the
neighbors skinning a deer to eat. The Dolly family is watching and hoping that they
will bring them some of the meat. The neighbors do bring them meat, showing a
leveling mechanism because a leveling mechanism is to ensure social equality. This
shows that the people living here are self sufficient and do not rely on grocery stores.
A sheriff then rolls up asking for the mom, but ended up just talking to Ree.

Summary Of The Story Eveline Essay
Jose Villanueva
English 1302.1001
10/3/15
There are many ways to interpret the short story Eveline ; however, I feel this story
is very meaningful. In the story, the 19 year old Eveline lives at home with her
father and works at home and in their store in a small town in Dublin, Ireland. Her
brother Ernest has passed and Harry was in the church decorating business and would
help the family out by sending money. Eveline worked and would give all of the
money she earned to her father. When her father did give her money, Eveline was
expected to use that money to buy dinner so she could cook later that evening. In
the beginning, Eveline s father was more kind towards her, but after the mother
and his son had passed, he took out his anger on Eveline and the other siblings.
Eveline had taken her mother s place, helping her siblings, cleaning, and cooking.
At times she had fell under her father s violence. At one time he threatens Eveline
by saying what he would do to her only for her mother s sake. (Joyce 598)She felt
she had no one to protect her. When Eveline talks about her childhood she says
how everything used to be and how everything has changed, also how everyone has
left or passed on. Eveline then realizes that she to, was to go away like the others
and leave her home. This leads to her looking around the room, and all of the
familiar objects and thinks of how she may never see those familiar objects again in
which she never had thought of being with out and away

Journal: Redesign of service modes for remanufactured products and its financial
benefits
Original Authors: Qinghua Zhu, HelongLi, Senlin Zhao, Venus Lun.
Publisher: International journal of production Economics.

Introduction:
Remanufacturing has now a days become very popular from auto motives, electronics
to IT because it makes production economical and environmentally attractive. But it s
not fully accepted by customers because of quality and aftersales concern. Two new
service modes (extended warranty and free replacement service) are developed to
address this problem. Using mathematical models, financial benefits are evaluated to
see whether these modes make significant difference or not.
The survey of Sinotruk Jinan Fuqiang Power Co., Ltd. (JFP) customers using
remanufactured heavy truck engines is carried out with information if and how two
newly designed service modes can provide financial gains over traditional service
modes. This company is well known for selling more than 50% of the total
remanufactured truck engines all across China
Benefit evaluation by 5 steps:
1.Demand and profit function is used to determine benefit of the services. The first
step includes calculating warranty, replacement length and price which changes
according to real life situation. Same can be calculated for remanufacturing products.
2.The survey is conducted to find out how many customers are
Gerard Way Research Paper
You are probably wondering how is a singer from a rock band inspiring? Maybe
you don t think he is, but to me, Gerard is very inspiring. Gerard Way never gave
up in life, no matter what problems were thrown at him, and the struggles he had to
face. Gerard and some others started a band, My Chemical Romance, to help cope
with their pain. He also never gave up on his dreams, no matter how hard or difficult.
Gerard Way faced lots of challenges growing up and as an adult. As a teenager
Gerard was bullied and it was very hard for him to handle it. As a teenager he was
held at gunpoint execution style, he struggled a ton with this. Yet somehow he still
had a positive attitude saying no matter how ugly the world gets or how stupid it
shows me it is, I always have faith [in it] . On top of all of that Gerard faced serious
drug abuse, depression, and an alcohol addiction. Gerard s grandmother, Elena had a
huge impact on Gerard s life. Elena took care of him and his brother Mikey. Elana
also showed him art, singing and drawing. It became very important in his life. So
when Elena died, it was impossible for him. I ... Show more content on

He wrote a song for how he felt when he was held at gunpoint. It is called the world
is ugly the song is about no matter how ugly the world gets there are still some
beautiful people in it. When his grandmother died he dedicated a song to her it is
called Helena, so every time he sings this song he can think of her. When 9/11
happened he wrote a song about it to help ease the pain for people who lost
someone. Gerard always thought of others and he wanted to help people who were
suffering. This was also another motive to start a band. He didn t want to be famous
or anything, he just wanted to save himself and others in the process. His idea was
that he could communicate with his fans through his music and help them get
through the tough times. This is what I find amazing about

Types Of Social Media Networks
There are six basic forms of social media networks. One of them is known as a
polarized crowd, which is a type of social network in which there are two groups that
have little connection and communication with each other even when they are talking
about the same topic. There are people who have multiple connections within their
group. However, they have very few connections with people outside of their group.
When it comes to discussing topics, feelings of conflict and tension come about when
people from different groups talk about them. These groups differentiate and separate
from one another based upon the disagreements they have within the discussion.
Moreover, two opposing groups tend to ignore each other rather than argue with one

The connections within a tight crowd tend to be strong, and these connections tend to
connect subgroups as well. This results into stronger ties, closer relationships,
heightened awareness of other users, and more frequent communication. As people
become more proactive when communicating with each other, they can also refer
them to other individuals, thus expanding the social network. They also follow each
other s news feed in order to know more about the person as they post things
throughout their life. They are also similar to a polarized crowd since people in a
tight crowd share common interests and common orientations toward those interests.
Various groups attract different communities when they are using a tight crowd as
a means of communication. This shows how sharing and support can be organized
by networked learning communities in social media. The Facebook group for this
class is an excellent example of a tight crowd. It is a social network where people
have the same orientation and interest towards virtual communities, and can share
ideas in order to enhance the learning process. In this case, people within the group
are trying to learn more about virtual communities. Moreover, people within this
social network tend to reply to each other at a faster rate since everyone in the class
has a common goal or they would have the same question in regards to the topic.
Also, the class is fairly small
Diversity And Social Justice By Paulo Freire
Diversity and Social Justice
Education is that terrain where power and politics are given fundamental
expression, since it is where meaning, desire, language. and values engage and
respond to the deeper beliefs about every nature of what it means to be human, to
dream, and to name and struggle for a particular future and way of life (Freire, 1985).
Education gives people the opportunity to take part in a reflective process and find
solutions to existing societal problems. Over the course program, I have developed a
deeper understanding of adult education and literacy specifically among the
underserved population. My perceptions of adult literacy have changed from merely
engaging learners with the text to a deeper understanding of what it means to be a
literate adult. Why a focus on adult literacy and education?
According to Paulo Freire, no one elects to be illiterate. One is illiterate because of
objective conditions. In certain circumstances, the illiterate man is the man who does
not need to read. In other circumstances, he is the one to whom the right to read was
denied (Freire, 1985 p.13). According to Freire s argument, it is suffice to say that as
an individual or leaner perhaps, being literate is not an individual s choice. As an
adult educator aspiring to work with underserved populations among them the
Turkana community in northern Kenya, understanding the root causes of illiteracy
and overall low rates of enrolments in adult education programs is crucial
Media Text Analysis
Identify some elements of the media text that are operating as signifiers and what
their signifieds are.
Firstly, the Fresh Meat opening titles begins with a notice which states that All
University housing is strictly Non Smoking. The prefix non is crossed out and
replaced with the weed . This linguistic sign of the word weed can be signified as a
slang term for marijuana, an illegal drug.
Next, the iconic signs of a bicycle helmet, bullet holes and wine shown. Following
on from this is a television set with an abstract green visual. This visual could be
signified as similar to a computer screensaver. A metallic toy robot is indicated which
creates sparks.
Furthermore, the iconic signs of a pin board with photos of people attached to it are
presented. The linguistic sign of an actor s name then disappears through a hole in the
wall.
There is a signifier of blue shapes strung ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This may connote a character who is a computer nerd. This characterisation may also
be demonstrated with the toy robot.
Following on from McHigh s character is Kimberley Nixon s. Above Nixon s name
is a photo frame with an array of images depicting the character s friendships. This
could represent a very social personality. The actor s name disappearing through the
hole in the wall may suggest an imperfect character with flaws. A hole in the wall
may also enable communication between two rooms that are separated by the wall.
The blue lights above Charlotte Ritchie s name may symbolise a mysterious
character as this shade of blue is sometimes seen this way. The mirror may indicate a
character who is self conscious. It could be perceived by the audience that Josh
Thomas character enjoys listening or playing music. The toiletries may also suggest
that the character values looking after his appearance. The model which may be
associated with Jack Whitehall s character suggests a promiscuous character or play
Themes Of Poem In Born A Crime By Trevor Noah
In Born A Crime, Trevor Noah [uses] a narrative writing style and a lighthearted tone
when [retelling] the tangled racism integrated in his childhood experience. The book
progresses in a mostly linear fashion, beginning with a childhood anecdote and his
unlawful birth, and ending with the horrifying attempted murder of his mother. In the
second chapter, Noah explains that as a half white, half black child who violated any
number of laws, statutes, and regulations I was born a crime. Not only does the
statement exploit the personal hatred inflicted upon Noah for simply existing, but
also exposes the effect of racismon innocence. As the book progresses, Noah shares
specific anecdotes and experiences to project to the reader the impact of... Show more

Because life in South Africa differs so drastically from life in America,
understanding the other side s perspective becomes challenging. In the interest of
making the South African concepts understandable, Noah makes connections to
Western World ideas such as Planet of the Apes and Hollywood and includes how
people would say [it] in America for clarity (120 121). Consequently, the book
forms a bridge between South African and American culture to demonstrate that
many of the world s problems are one in the same. For example, at one point in the
book, Noah gets pulled over, and when asked if he knows why, Noah correctly
responds, Because you re a policeman and I m a black person? (229). Since
Americans have only seen Noah as a successful comedian, the book allows them to
understand the hardships, struggles, and efforts that shaped him. In order to
successfully connect with such a distant audience, Noah takes advantage of both
the reader s logic and emotions. First, Noah uses rationale to explain the existence
of social problems among people of color. He coins the term the black tax to point
out that so many black families spend all of their time trying to fix the problems of
the past (66). Backed with historical facts about apartheid, Noah s explanation of the
social injustices helps the audience understand the concept of privilege. Moreover,
Noah appeals to the reader s emotions by providing vivid narrations of such
injustices. While Noah s mother took him to ice rinks and drive ins and suburbs
people within their community thought she was crazy because those were the things
of white people (

Firstly, it requires a comprehensive understanding of the concept of leadership and how it specifically applies to students. Crafting a compelling essay also demands the ability to articulate personal experiences, if applicable, or to create hypothetical scenarios that exemplify effective student leadership. Additionally, one must explore the importance of leadership in an academic setting, discussing how it contributes to the overall development of both individuals and the student body as a whole. Research becomes a critical component of this essay, requiring in-depth exploration of successful student leaders, relevant theories, and perhaps even case studies. This not only adds depth to the essay but also ensures that the content is grounded in factual information. Balancing the theoretical aspects with practical examples and personal reflections while maintaining a coherent and engaging narrative can be challenging. Furthermore, the essay should not only address the positive aspects of student leadership but also acknowledge and discuss potential obstacles and criticisms. The challenge lies not only in generating ideas and content but also in structuring the essay effectively. Creating a clear introduction, body, and conclusion that seamlessly flow from one point to the next is crucial for delivering a compelling argument. • 3. George S Patton Achievements During the second world war, after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the United States involved themselves in the escalating battle. The war would take many years, as well as resources and soldiers. Most importantly however, the U.S needed an excellent general to lead the troops. This is where General George S. Patton comes in and stands center stage, ready to win a war and go down in American history as one of the greatest generals. Patton was born on the eleventh of November, 1885, in San Gabriel, Florida. As a child, he was regaled with tales of his forefathers, men who had fought in the Revolutionary, Mexican, and Civil wars. These stories inspired him to join the military and carry on their legacy; he attended the Virginia Military Institute... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Patton loved war, whether he was strategizing or fighting in the thick of it. He was a man of fickle taste, with rash mood swings and an anti semitic streak. Patton was abrasive to others, caring mostly for war and not much else, yet he was married to Beatrice Banning Ayer.. Although he had many personality flaws, George S. Patton was still an astounding general with a gift for battle, helping lead the United States to victory during World War Two. By the end of his life, he was a four star general. The President of the time, Dwight Eisenhower, said he was the best field rank general we ever had. Unfortunately, even though he had amazing success on the field and returned a hero, he died very shortly after he returned, on December 9th, 1945 as a result from an automobile collision. Though he was worshipped as being a superhuman man and general, he was still mortal and died from a simple cause like any other ordinary

  • 5. The First Generation Of The Family Mike had given a speech to Bodnar about the hardships that the men went through in the mills. He wondered if God had put him on his earth was to be worked in the furnaces. Once I used to ask myself, Is this what the good God put me on earth for, to work my life away in Carnegie s blast furnaces, to live and die in Braddock s alleys? I couldn t believe it. Now I know that God had nothing to do with it. Chance rules the world (Bell, 197). Mike felt everyone should lovethe job they work in and shouldn t feel as if they re not appreciated. I don t mind work. But a man should be allowed to love his work and take pride in it (Bell, 196). The third generation of the family seemed to be the strongest willed. Mike and Mary s son, Dobie, did everything George wouldn t do and was against not standing up to anyone. He created the birth of labor unionism during his time working at the steel mills. Focusing on the Hebrew versions of Genesis 1 and 2, comparing the two similar creation stories of Eve Adam, and look into how the Early Christianity New Testament affected the way woman were seen as well as treated. In the book Eve Adam by Kvam Schearing and Ziegler, it focuses on Genesis 1; the stories of Creation. On the sixth day Elohim (God) creates humankind in his image. The first man and woman are created simultaneously and jointly receive Elohim s command to be fruitful, to multiply, and to subdue and have dominion over the earth. Their creation, Elohim remarks, is very good. On the seventh day, Elohim rests. (Eve 16) When interpreting this paragraph a few things come to mind. One, Elohim is considered perfect because he is God. So humankind being created in his perfect image creates the idea that humans are perfect like Elohim. As one looks further into the passage it specifically says that man and woman were created together. Meaning that man and woman were equally created. Then after man and women were created simultaneously, Elohim wanted the man and women to multiply and be fruitful. Meaning that the man and woman had an equal gender roles with creating life through out the Earth that Elohim had created for them. As one continues on reading The Book of Genesis, another creation

  • 10. The Importance Of Blood Flow In The Circulatory System The circulatory system is an important organ system that circulates blood throughout the body in an effort to transport nutrients and maintain homeostasis. In mammals, the heart is a vital part of the circulatory system that pumps blood through blood vessels around the body. Blood circulation through the heartbegins with deoxygenated blood entering the right atrium at low pressure from the body. The deoxygenated blood is then pumped to the right ventricle through the atrioventricular valve. From there, the blood is pumped out of the right ventricle at high pressure to the lungs through the semilunar valve. In the lungs, gas exchange occurs where carbon dioxide is released to the alveoli and oxygen is absorbed by the blood. The oxygenated blood then leaves the lungs, enters the left atrium at low pressure, and is pumped to the left ventricle where it is pumped back out to the rest of the body at high pressure. Blood flow in the circulatory system is very important and is assessed by examining blood pressure. Blood pressure is the force of the blood pushing against the walls of the arteries every time the heart pumps blood. There are two types of blood pressure: systolic and diastolic. As the heart beats, blood forced through the arteries cause a rise in pressure, called systolic pressure (Department of Integrative Biology, 2017). Following this rise in pressure, a decrease in pressure as the ventricles relax and prepare for another beat is called the diastolic pressure

Compared to 1994, industry registrations of domestic heavyweight (engine displacements in excess of 751cc) motorcycles were up 11.3% . The Company ended 1995 with a domestic market share of 55.8% compared to 56.1% in 1994. This decrease is a reflection of the Company s constrained production capacity in a growing heavyweight motorcycle market. Demand for the Company s motorcycles continues to exceed supply with nearly all of the Company s independent domestic dealers reporting retail orders on all of their remaining 1996 model year motorcycle allocations (production through June, 1996). Whether used as part of a lead or sales funnel... integrated into an email, PPC, or direct mail campaign... a well crafted landing page can really boost your conversion rates. Now there are potentially hundreds of specific steps you can take in order to get the most out of them. And there are, of course, various ways to test each page element. Am I recommending that you ignore all the testing and tweaking? Of course not. But if you want to get the most bang for your buck, you can t afford to ignore the basics. So without further ado, here are five steps to creating landing pages that convert. 1. Determine the goal. The lack of a clearly defined goal is probably the single biggest stumbling block for most people. If your pages contain six different ideas, all competing for attention, then you re in for a disastrous conversion experience. For example, if you ve recently published three white papers, it would be a huge mistake to design one landing page for all of them. Studies consistently show that vague or competing themes are a huge factor in the overall success or failure of a landing page. So instead of cramming multiple ideas onto one page, be sure to create a separate one for each. If you follow this one step alone, you ll likely see at least a double digit improvement in your conversion rate. 2. Keep

Researchers from Harvard University analyzed data from over 1,300 babies who breastfed for at least six months, and then they tested the children s vocabulary at age three and their intelligence at age 7. The beneficial effects were cumulative; the children s verbal test scores at age 3 were one fifth of a point higher for each month they were breastfed; at age 7 the difference in intelligence was one third of an IQ point per month of breastfeeding. This doesn t sound like much, however, a child breastfed for a full year could gain a full four IQ points, according to the study. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the World Health Organization (WHO) make the recommendation that new moms breastfeed exclusively for the first six months of life and continue to breastfeed for two years and beyond. However, they both recommend breastfeeding for a variety of other reasons besides intelligence, including the fact that breastfeeding boosts the immune system against viral and bacterial infection, and also lowers the risk of the baby dying from sudden infant death syndrome. Breastfeeding during the first year also lowers the risk of obesity in childhood and adolescence (WHO, 2012). To understand just how frequently the association of breastfeeding and cognitive performance has been studied, a 1999 meta analysis that examined 11 previous studies and concludes that breastfeeding was associated with significantly higher scores for cognitive development than formula feeding.

  • 20. Obedience In The My Lai Massacre The Implications of Obedience Within the United States Military: The My Lai Massacre On March 16, 1968, a unit of the United States military was ordered to advance into a village called Son My in northern Vietnam. It was there that a mass execution of unarmed civilians took place. One may wonder how the United States could do something so seemingly inhumane after considering what the Nazis did only twenty years prior to the Vietnam War. However, in the context of a tense situation, there are particular factors that will affect one s decision making skills. Factors such as uncertainty, routinization, gradual escalation, and dehumanization of the victim are all possible components in affecting one s obedience. When uncertainty is present in a given situation, obedience tends to be greater. Being in an unfamiliar position may prompt one to have a lower self confidence. Consequently, this self perceived inferiority may cause the subject to look to authority for assistance (Nelson, class lecture, 2017). This was clearly evident at My Lai, as many of the soldiers were young and inexperienced, merely trained to follow orders given to them by authority. According to Kelman Hamilton (1989) in their article The My Lai Massacre: A Military Crime of Obedience, Charlie Company contained no significant deviation from the average company. That is, most of the men had volunteered for the draft and had not yet even finished college. Most were eighteen to twenty two years old, still

Las Mariposas describe the everyday horrors of life under the Dominican dictator Trujillo, from tales of secret crushes to gunrunning and prison torture. Julia Alvarez states that, A novel is not, after all, a historical document, but a way to travel through the human heart (Alvarez 324). A glacier can be on land or floating. Thick, floating glaciers are referred to as ice shelves. Ice streams are channels in which ice flows much faster than the ice surrounding it. Reaction of Glaciers to Environmental Change Glacial flow is the primary cause of differentiation between glaciers in their growth and retreat. Broadly, glacial change happens simultaneously with similar rates of development. Occasionally, random fluctuations seem to occur, as can be found in rock records from the Pleistocene epoch, where continental ice sheets were subject apparent random growth and retreat, (Cuffey Paterson, 2010). The most direct influence on the progress of a glacier is climate. A change in climate has the obvious direct effect of melting ice or depositing more snow, these processes are called the mass balance. A

In the next section, I will explain the premises and defend Anselm s point. In the third section, I will explain how premise two is wrong. II The Ontological Argument In this section, I will explain the argument. If one accepts all of the premises of the argument to be true then we must accept its conclusion. The +1 nucleosome can act as a barrier to transcriptional elongation by blocking and stalling RNA Polymerase II (Nock et al., 2012; Weber et al., 2014). H2A.Z incorporation moderates the nucleosomal barriers to RNA Polymerase II progression, likely by facilitating the loss 31 of an H2A.Z/H2B dimer from nucleosomes when encountered by RNA Polymerase II (Weber et al., 2014). Therefore, accumulation of H2A.Z around TSSs promotes transcriptional initiation. In Arabidopsis, H2A.Z is required for activation of Flowering Locus C (FLC), in that way ensuring the proper timing of the transition from vegetative growth to flowering (Deal et al., 2007). It is shown that the TSS of FLC locus is enriched with H2A.Z and its expression is strongly up regulated by FRIGIDA (FRI). FRI acts as a scaffold protein in a transcription activator complex that binds to the FLC locus and directly associates with the SWR1 complex, suggesting that FLC up regulation is mediated by direct modulation of H2A.Z deposition by FRI (Choi et al., 2011).
  • 36. Reflection On Leadership And Governance Using my personal knowledge and experience, the following reflection will state why the ten values highlighted above are important in leadership and governance. After each explanation there will be an example to support the reasoning. The reflection will use the government as a leader to reflect on leadershipand governance. Specifically, the governmentwill refer to any ministryat the provincial level and it is not specific to one leader, to a group of leaders (members of provincial parliament, ministry, public servants etc.) or to a particular organization (ministry, unit, department etc.). The first two values for good leadership and governance are achievement/success and effectiveness. The government needs to make decisions which effectively reach its goals and visions. If the government is unable to achieve any achievements or success, it suggests that leadership is poor. The ineffective leadership may suggest that current governance practices are inappropriate. For example, in 2006, the Ministry of Education in Ontario stated that their goal was to have 75% of Grade 6 students achieve the provincial standard (70%) in reading, writing and math. According to the results, in 2015 2016, writing was at 80%, reading was at 81%, and math was at 50%. The results suggest that the leadership and governance of the initiative was successful in reading and writing, but the lack of success in math suggests that the approach to addressing the lack of math knowledge

The Importance Of A Shatter Zone In The Film Winter s Bone A shatter zone used to be defined as a belt of randomly fissured or cracked rock that may be filled with mineral deposits (Moon,pg 1). After World War two the meaning changed dramatically. According to Moon and Talley, a shatter zone is now is borderlands where refugee populations migrated in large numbers to escape the pressures of the stateand/or the capitalist economies through which the state exerted itself (Moon, Pg 1). For the Most part, James Scott agrees with Moon and Talley when he defines a shatter zone as places of resistance to and refuge from some of the most destructive effects of state making and state rule (Scott,pg 22). This zones are found wherever a large number of people have gone to seek refuge in out of the way places ( Scott,pg 23). A shatter Zone is depicted throughout the Film Winters Bone . The connections within a tight crowd tend to be strong, and these connections tend to connect subgroups as well. This results into stronger ties, closer relationships, heightened awareness of other users, and more frequent communication. As people become more proactive when communicating with each other, they can also refer them to other individuals, thus expanding the social network. They also follow each other s news feed in order to know more about the person as they post things throughout their life. They are also similar to a polarized crowd since people in a tight crowd share common interests and common orientations toward those interests. Various groups attract different communities when they are using a tight crowd as a means of communication. This shows how sharing and support can be organized by networked learning communities in social media. The Facebook group for this class is an excellent example of a tight crowd. It is a social network where people have the same orientation and interest towards virtual communities, and can share ideas in order to enhance the learning process. In this case, people within the group are trying to learn more about virtual communities. Also, the class is fairly small
  • 47. Diversity And Social Justice By Paulo Freire Diversity and Social Justice Education is that terrain where power and politics are given fundamental expression, since it is where meaning, desire, language. and values engage and respond to the deeper beliefs about every nature of what it means to be human, to dream, and to name and struggle for a particular future and way of life (Freire, 1985). Education gives people the opportunity to take part in a reflective process and find solutions to existing societal problems. Over the course program, I have developed a deeper understanding of adult education and literacy specifically among the underserved population. My perceptions of adult literacy have changed from merely engaging learners with the text to a deeper understanding of what it means to be a literate adult. Why a focus on adult literacy and education? According to Paulo Freire, no one elects to be illiterate. One is illiterate because of objective conditions. In certain circumstances, the illiterate man is the man who does not need to read. In other circumstances, he is the one to whom the right to read was denied (Freire, 1985 p.13). According to Freire s argument, it is suffice to say that as an individual or leaner perhaps, being literate is not an individual s choice. As an adult educator aspiring to work with underserved populations among them the Turkana community in northern Kenya, understanding the root causes of illiteracy and overall low rates of enrolments in adult education programs is crucial

Consequently, the book forms a bridge between South African and American culture to demonstrate that many of the world s problems are one in the same. For example, at one point in the book, Noah gets pulled over, and when asked if he knows why, Noah correctly responds, Because you re a policeman and I m a black person? (229). Since Americans have only seen Noah as a successful comedian, the book allows them to understand the hardships, struggles, and efforts that shaped him. In order to successfully connect with such a distant audience, Noah takes advantage of both the reader s logic and emotions. First, Noah uses rationale to explain the existence of social problems among people of color. He coins the term the black tax to point out that so many black families spend all of their time trying to fix the problems of the past (66).
